Remember if you have any questions, you can call give us a shout on contact at accidental biblescholar Randy: Scholar dot com or you can go to our website, accidental bible scholar.com. So without further ado, let's roll them, Randy. Okay. Let's Jeff: dot com or you can go to our website, accidental bible scholar dot com. So without further ado, let's roll Randy. Okay. Let's just review quickly what we talked about last week. We're in a war, last two weeks. We're in a war. it's between the church and the kingdom of of Jesus Christ, okay? Yep. It's a the the the end game is known, right? but but it we're left here to enforce his victories that he's already already accomplished. So Randy: just review quickly what we talked about last week. We're in a war, last two weeks. We're in a war. it's between the church and the kingdom of of Jesus Christ, okay? Yep. It's a the the the end game is known, right? but but it we're left here to enforce his victories that he's already already accomplished. So Jeff: and then we talked about the angel. We looked at the Old Testament. We'd looked at Daniel, which is an interesting story. talked about Job and his troubles, talked about Elisha, talked about a little bit about David and Zechariah. or in Zechariah talking about Joshua, the high priest there. And then we looked at a few, not many, but a few of Jesus encountering with the with the demonic and then the church. And the church is where we're gonna spend a lot of us, because not just the church, but us individually. That's kind of what more Ephesians six Randy: and then we talked about the angel. That's kind of what more Ephesians six Jeff: talks about. So and that's where we're headed is Ephesians 6. But but we're still going to work through some of these basic understandings that the Bible talks about so that when we get to Ephesians 6 it can help us understand it. So that leaves us with now the enemy. Okay the enemy we know as Satan, the devil or a devil, an evil spirit, a demon. These are all things that the different Bible uses for each indicating him. So Randy: talks about so and that's where we're headed is Ephesians 6 but but we're still gonna work through some of these basic understandings that the Bible talks about so that when we get to Ephesians 6 it can help us understand it. So that leaves us with now the enemy. Okay the enemy we know as Satan, the devil or a devil, an evil spirit, a demon. These are all things that the different Bible uses for each indicating him. So Jeff: Let's see a little bit about how he got his start. go to s Isaiah 14 and read 12 through 17. Isaiah 14, 12 through 17. Randy: Let's see a little bit about how he got his start. go to s Isaiah 14 and read 12 through 17. Isaiah 14, 12 through 17. Jeff: Right. Look how you have fallen from the sky, O shining one, son of the dawn, you have been cut down to the ground, O conqueror of the nations. You said to yourself, I will climb up to the sky, above the stars of El, I will set up my throne, I will rule on the mountain of assembly, on the remote slopes of Xafon. I will climb up the tops up to the tops of the clouds, and I will make myself like the most high. Okay, that was this is Randy: Right. Okay, that was this is Jeff: It says how far you've fallen. He hi his problem was pride. He wanted to run everything. He wanted to be God. He says, I want to make myself like the most high. He talks about being in in amongst the thrones. He wants his throne to be above all those. Right. G God is in a council or he has a council that he runs and they're on thrones. Randy: It says how far you've fallen. He hi his problem was pride. He wanted to run everything. He wanted to be God. He says, I want to make myself like the most high. He talks about being in in amongst the thrones. He wants his throne to be above all those. Right. G God is in a council or he has a council that he runs and they're on thrones. Jeff: And he is God. They are created beings. He is their creator, but he has a council of beings that he gets ideas from and and and helps rule. Again, he's a God of fellowship and communion. He wants to rule through his creation. Wants his rule his creation through his creatures. he's he has shown us that over and over again. Well, one of his creatures, this high-ranking Randy: And he is God. They are created beings. He is their creator, but he has a council of beings that he gets ideas from and and and helps rule. Again, he's a God of fellowship and communion. He wants to rule through his creation. Wants his rule his creation through his creatures. he's he has shown us that over and over again. Well, one of his creatures, this high-ranking Jeff: angel or entity of some sort said, hey, I wanna be I'm gonna take you out. I want to be above your throne. Right. And s who knows exactly where that came from, but somewhere he thought as a created being he had somehow as good as a creator or as powerful as a creator and it's the difference is infinite. Okay, so the it's no competition. So that's why he fell. Let's go to Ezekiel twenty eight. Randy: angel or entity of some sort said, hey, I wanna be I'm gonna take you out. I wanna be above your throne. Right. And s who knows exactly where that came from, but somewhere he thought as a created being he had somehow as good as a creator or as powerful as a creator and it's the difference is infinite. Okay, so th it's no competition. So that's why he fell. Let's go to Ezekiel twenty eight. Then twelve through seventeen when you get there. Jeff: Then twelve through seventeen when you get there. Ezekiel Ezekiel twenty eight, twenty twelve through seventeen. Twelve through seventeen. Randy: Ezekiel Ezekiel twenty eight, twenty twelve through seventeen. Twelve through seventeen. Jeff: All right. Son of man, sing a lament for the king of Tyre, and say to him, This is what the sovereign Lord says, you were the sealer of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God, every precious stone was your covering. The ruby, topaz, and emerald, the chrysalite, onyx, and jasper, the sapphire, turquoise, and beryl. Your settings and mounts were made of gold. On the day you were created they were prepared. Randy: All right. Son of man, sing a lament for the king of Tyre, and say to him, This is what the sovereign Lord says. You were the sealer of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. Your settings and mounts were made of gold. On the day you were created they were prepared. Jeff: I placed you there with an anointed guardian cherub. You were on the holy mountain of God, you walked about amidst fiery stones. You were blameless in your behavior from the day you were created, until sin was discovered in you. In the abundance of your trade you were filled with violence and you sinned. So I defiled and banished you from the mountain of God. The guardian cherub expelled you from the midst of the stones of fire. Your heart was proud because of your beauty, you corrupted your wisdom on account of your splendor. I threw you to the ground and Randy: I placed you there with an anointed guardian cherub. You were on the holy mountain of God, you walked about amidst fiery stones. So I defiled and banished you from the mountain of God. The guardian cherub expelled you from the midst of the stones of fire. Your heart was proud because of your beauty, you corrupted your wisdom on account of your splendor. I threw you to the ground and Jeff: I place you before kings that they might see you. All right. This is another prophecy about what happened with Satan. And and there's a king attire, which is an earthly king, and then there that transitions to Satan himself. And and you talk about his beauty. He had made into his being precious jewels and precious metal. and that was part of his problem. He be got got prideful. Randy: I place you before kings that they might see you. All right. This is another prophecy about what happened with Satan. And and there's a king attire, which is an earthly king, and then there that transitions to Satan himself. And and you talk about his beauty. He had made into his being precious jewels and precious metal. and that was part of his problem. He bec got prideful. Jeff: It says he was in the Garden of Eden. Randy: It says he was in the Garden of Eden. I've heard different opinions about what that means. But certainly we can take maybe Adam and Eve. He was either in Eden before them. In other words, somewhere, you know, for Genesis one one to Genesis one two, we don't know what the timing is there. And from Genesis one two to Genesis one three, unknown. It could be any amount of time between there. But there's something going on in there. This could be referring to that. Jeff: I've heard different opinions about what that means. But certainly we can take maybe Adam and Eve. He was either in Eden before them. In other words, somewhere, you know, for Genesis 1-1 to Genesis 1-2, we don't know what the timing is there. And from Genesis 1-2 to Genesis 1-3, unknown. It could be any amount of time between there. But there's something going on in there. This could be referring to that. but certainly when Randy: But certainly when the serpent shows up, he doesn't look like what we think of it as a in a serpent. He's a he's a very beautiful being of some sort. So and she doesn't seem surprised that he's talking, which is part of the thing that's always kinda confused me. Right. I mean, today if a serpent came up and started talking, I'd probably know that I'd have my guard up pretty pretty quick. Yeah. Or any animal. Right. Even if it's not a serpent, right? So he was this magnificent, beautiful Jeff: The serpent shows up, he doesn't look like what we think of it as a in a serpent. So he was this magnificent, beautiful being. Randy: being that fell because of his pride. And he took my I suspect he took a third of the angels or a third of the stars or a third of something with him. and it was it was we'll see later that they're organized in dominions and rulers and there's different different ways that the demonic and angels are or are organized. Jesus created that and Satan just took that with him. Jeff: that fell because of his pride. And he took my I suspect he took a third of the angels or a third of the stars or a third of something with him. and it was it was we'll see later that they're organized, in dominions and rulers and there's different different ways that the demonic and angels are or are organized. Jesus created that and Satan just took that with him. And so that's where some of the organization comes from. We'll we'll look at that in a minute, but or in a later thing. And then let's go to John ten. I could probably do it. Randy: And so that's where some of the organization comes from. We'll we'll look at that in a minute, but or in a later thing. And then let's go to John ten. I could probably do it. Jeff: We could probably all do it by comes to steal by memory, but yeah. Let's read 'cause these are the opposing objectives of the kingdoms. Yeah. Okay, so we're still looking at the enemy. What's his objective? But read John ten. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so that they might have life and might have it abundantly. Okay, there's pretty easy. There's objectives of the kingdom of darkness and the objectives of the kingdom of light. Kill, steal and destroy. That's it. Randy: We could probably all do it by comes to steal by memory but yeah. That's it. Jeff: And then life and abundant life is Jesus and his kingdom is what they're going to do. If you're looking at fruit, as you look at a person's fruit, or you look at a thoughts fruit, or you look at a a culture or a what's the right word? Thoughts probably could get that's running through this this what kind of fruit does it produce? It's either going to produce death or life or some version of that that's mentioned there in ten ten. Randy: And then life and abundant life is Jesus and his kingdom is what they're going to do. If you're looking at fruit, as you look at a person's fruit, or you look at a thoughts fruit, or you look at a a culture or a what's the right word? Thoughts probably could get that's running through this this what kind of fruit does it produce? It's either going to produce death or life or some version of that. That's mentioned there in ten ten. We're going to talk about his tactics specifically as we go through six, but you can look at his tactics by what the armor we're going to wear. The belt of truth was tactics or lies. Belt of righteousness or the breastplate of righteousness, his his tactics are accusations, guilt, shame, condemnation, because our righteousness is protects us from all that. faith. The opposite of faith is fear. So one of his tactics is to create fear, because you c you have no authority over something that you fear. Jeff: We're going to talk about his tactics specifically as we go through six, but you can look at his tactics by what the armor we're going to wear. The belt of truth was tactics or lies. The opposite of faith is fear. So one of his tactics is to create fear, because you c you have no authority over something that you fear. And so in your faith, you can't have faith over something that you fear. True. And so he's you we can look and see some of his schemes that way. I want to look at another scheme that it kind of plays out to Ezekiel and Isaiah of him wanting to be the king. He tries to imitate the king. So let's look at that real quick. Let's go to Proverbs 1912. Randy: And so in your faith, you can't have faith over something that you fear. True. And so he's you we can look and see some of his schemes that way. I want to look at another scheme that it kind of plays out to Ezekiel and Isaiah of him wanting to be the king. He tries to imitate the king. So let's look at that real quick. Let's go to Proverbs 1912. Jeff: And you just flip over to twenty verse two, so don't go anywhere. But Proverbs nineteen twelve first. A king's wrath is like the roar of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass. Okay, so we know that a king wrath is equated to the roar of a lion. Okay, verse Proverbs twenty, verse two. The king's terrifying anger is like the roar of a lion. Whoever provokes him sins against himself. Okay, yeah. Don't make the king mad. Okay, that's what that says. It's like the roar of a lion. Now let's go to Randy: And you just flip over to twenty verse two, so don't go anywhere. Now let's go to Jeff: Let's see, first Peter five, eight. Read that when you get there. Randy: Let's see, first Peter five, eight. Read that when you get there. Jeff: First Peter five eight. Be sober and alert. Your enemy, the devil, like a roaring lion, is on the prow looking for someone to devour. All right. So he's like a roaring lion. What's a roaring lion in in biblical symbology? The king's wrath. So he's walking around like a roaring lion. What's he trying to do? He's trying to make you think the king is mad at you. The king that you're under the king's wrath. Randy: First Peter five eight. Be sober and alert. Your enemy, the devil, like a roaring lion, is on the prow looking for someone to devour. All right. So he's like a roaring lion. What's a roaring lion in biblical symbology? The king's wrath. So he's walking around like a roaring lion. What's he trying to do? He's trying to make you think the king is mad at you. The king that you're under the king's wrath. Jeff: That's part of his deception, part of his lies. Are we under the king's wrath? No. Not anymore. Not anymore. Randy: That's part of his deception, part of his lies. Are we under the king's wrath? No. Not anymore. Not anymore. Jeff: Romans Romans four, Romans five clearly tells us that that. And we used to be children of wrath. Ephesians, first part of Ephesians two. And no longer are we children of wrath because all of our wrath or all of God's wrath against us was poured out on Jesus Christ on the cross. But that's one of the big things. I mean, I I see a lot of Christians that walk around with the Randy: Romans 4, Romans 5 clearly tells us that that. And we used to be children of wrath. Ephesians first part of Ephesians 2. And no longer are we children of wrath because all of our wrath or all of God's wrath against us was poured out on Jesus Christ on the cross. But that's one of the big things. I mean, I I see a lot of Christians that walk around with a almost like a dark cloud over them. They're waiting for the next shoe to drop. They're well, this gospel's just too good. That's why we try to come up with ways to gain righteousness. Jeff: almost like a dark cloud over They're waiting for the next shoe to drop. They're going, Well, this gospel's just too good. That's why we try to come up with ways to gain righteousness. Yeah, Randy: Yeah, he says I'm righteous, but I'm gonna I'm gonna teach it or speak it or do this. You know, we d we go with this, well it's we got this bifurcated or split up righteous where there's righteousness where there's positional righteous, but that's not actual righteous. You really gotta go and perform righteous. I'm like, good luck with that, by the way, because we can't perform righteousness. Jeff: he says I'm righteous, but I'm gonna I'm gonna teach it or speak it or do this, you know. we d we go with this well it's we got this bifurcated or split up righteous where there's righteousness where there's positional righteous. But that's not actual righteousness. You really gotta go and perform righteous. I'm like, good luck with that by the way, 'cause we can't perform righteousness. Randy: But we are really and for real righteous, and we don't need any Jeff: But we are really and for real righteous and we don't need any any crazy adjectives in front of that. the Bible doesn't do it, so we ought not to do it. But it's all because of this thing of I'm I'm deceived to think that the king is still kind of mad at me. He still has something against me. Right. There's something else I don't quite trust him because I got this nagging sense that Randy: any crazy adjectives in front of that. the Bible doesn't do it, so we ought not to do it. But it's all because of this thing of I'm I'm deceived to think that the king is still kinda mad at me. He still has something against me. Right. There's something else. I don't quite trust him because I got this nagging sense that I'm just not quite forgiven. Or I'm not really righteous. Someday I'll be but not really. Or I'm not really holy. Jeff: I'm just not quite forgiven. Or I'm not really righteousness. Some day I'll be, but not really. I'm not really holy. know, I will someday. And and we talked about that in previous lessons. You know, if you're not righteous now and you're a follower of Jesus Christ, what event future event is gonna make you righteous? The cross is behind you. Right. Is there some other future event that's gonna make you righteous? No, you are already righteous. Right. And this is part of the devil's deception is to try to get us to think that there's something else, that that this roaring lion is an angry king and our king is not mad at us. Our king absorbed Randy: know, I will someday. Our king absorbed Jeff: all the wrath and there is no more. Yeah. So let's go on to let's talk about that's the enemy and we'll we'll talk about that as we get into Ephesians six. We're going to be talking about him or his tactics the whole time. But let's go now what's the battlefield? There's a number of battlefields. We introduced this slightly in the other place, but let's go to Ephesians six, twelve. So we're going to Ephesians six. Everybody know. Randy: all the wrath and there is no more. Jeff: Finally there a little bit. Ephesians six twelve. Ephesix six twelve. For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the rule world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. We'll go into more detail on this when we get this get there in in there, and we'll talk about each of those entities. But what's the big thing here? We're not battling against each other. We're not battling against men and women. Right. Randy: Finally there a little bit. Ephesians six twelve. Ephesians six twelve. For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the rule world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. We'll go into more detail on this when we get this get there in in there and we'll talk about each of those entities. But what's the big thing here? We're not battling against each other. We're not battling against men and women. Right. Jeff: It's n it can feel that way sometimes. Right. It can seem that way sometimes. there is this spirit of division that's in our country, that's in our world, that's in our churches, and it's in our organizations, and it's trying to put people against the people, each other. That doesn't mean that we're against each other. That means that there's a spirit of division that we're against. Randy: It's n it can feel that way sometimes. Right. It can seem that way sometimes. there is this spirit of division that's in our country, that's in our world, that's in our churches, and it's in our organizations, and it's trying to put people against the people, each other. That doesn't mean that we're against each other. That means that there's a spirit of division that we're against. Jeff: some would call that a principality of division within a culture. So that's important that this battle I'm talking about is not against flesh and blood. It's not against men and women. Every man and woman on this planet, Jesus Christ, loves intensely and gave up everything he had for them. Yeah. Period. So we need to you know keep that in mind as we as we go through. It is not against people. Randy: some would call that a principality of division within a culture. Jeff: And let's go now next to Saint Corinthians ten five. Saint Corinthians ten five. Let's go start at verse three and go through five. Okay. For though we live as human beings, we do not wage war according to human standards. For the weapons of our warfare are not human weapons, but are made powerful by God for tearing down strongholds. We tear down arguments and every arrogant obstacle that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to make it obey Christ. Randy: And let's go now next to Saint Corinthians ten five. Saint Corinthians ten five. Let's go start at verse three and go through five. Okay. We tear down arguments and every arrogant obstacle that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to make it obey Christ. Jeff: Okay, so the battlefield is the mind or one of the battlefields. Okay. That's talking about strongholds in your mind, talking about arrogant obstacles raised up against the truth of God. and we can get more into that here in our next lesson. But this is the battlefield, is the battlefield of the mind. And so the mind is part of the soul. The mind must be renewed. Romans 12, 2. And that's part of the process of of Randy: Okay, so the battlefield is the mind or one of the battlefields. And that's part of the process of of Jeff: growing up as believers and becoming mature believers. But the battlefield is the mind. Let's go to Philippians four eight and we'll just look at a quick counter tactic, if you will. Say four eight? Yeah, Philippians four eight. Randy: growing up as believers and becoming mature believers. But the battlefield is the mind. Let's go to Philippians four eight and we'll just look at a quick counter tactic, if you will. Say four eight? Yeah, Philippians four eight. Jeff: Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if something is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things. We are to take our mind and fix it on praiseworthy, good, pure things. If your mind is not on that list, and we'll go through that more detail later, but if your mind is not on that list, you're not in a Randy: Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if something is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things. We are to take our mind and fix it on praiseworthy, good, pure things. If your mind is not on that list, and we'll go through that more detail later, but if your mind is not on that list, you're not in a Jeff: in the right perspective of spiritual warfare. Our mind, it is so easy to let it go off on dumb stuff. And that's because the mind is part of the battlefield. It is where the deception occurs. Okay. And it's up to us to filter it through truth. Going back, it says t take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Randy: in the right perspective of spiritual warfare. Our mind, it is so easy to let it go off on dumb stuff. And that's because the mind is part of the battlefield. It is where the deception occurs. Okay. And it's up to us to filter it through truth. Going back, it says t take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Jeff: Again, we'll go into that more detail, but does it line up with the obedience of Christ? Does it ma line up with the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians five? Does it line up with John 1010? If it's not, it's not of not of Christ. Okay, and we are to get rid of that thought. let's go to Randy: Again, we'll go into that more detail, but does it line up with the obedience of Christ? Does it ma line up with the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians five? Does it line up with John 1010? If it's not, it's not of not of Christ. Okay, and we are to get rid of that thought. let's go to Jeff: Matthew ten one. Re I think we read this a little bit last last time or a couple of times ago, but anywhere where there are two kingdoms where these two kingdoms come into contact, that's where the battlefield is. So Matthew ten one and the skip read seven and eight. Okay, Jesus called his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, so that they could cast him out and heal every kind of disease and sickness. And you said seven and eight. Randy: Matthew ten one. Jeff: As you go, preach this message. The kingdom of heaven is near. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give. Okay. Ten one, he gives and these this is before the cross. He gives them the authority over demons so that they can heal sickness. And he sends them out and says, Hey, preach the kingdom, raise the dead, heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, and cast out demons. Randy: As you go, preach this message. Jeff: And you're like, okay, that's exactly and you're like, well, Randy, is that Rother Battlefield? Okay, then go to Matthew twelve, read twelve twenty-eight. Randy: And you're like, okay, that's exactly and you're like, well, Randy, is that Rother Battlefield? Okay, then go to Matthew twelve, read twelve twenty-eight. Jeff: With this still th in mind, this is Jesus speaking again. Matthew twelve twenty eight. But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has already overtaken you. Okay, so he's taking talking about casting out demons in this case. I would contend that list in Matthew seven and eight would be this be the same thing. He's saying, When I cast out a demon, that is in fact Randy: With this still th in mind, this is Jesus speaking again. Matthew twelve twenty-eight. But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has already overtaken you. Okay, so he's taking talking about casting out demons in this case. I would contend that list in Matthew seven and eight would be this be the same thing. He's saying, When I cast out a demon, that is in fact Jeff: the kingdom of God come up upon you. So this kingdom of God is just pushed against the kingdom of darkness. Yep. So that's where the battlefield is. It's it's in it's in between people. It's in our bodies for for healing, for raising the dead, for casting out demons, for cleansing the lepers, for and then for preaching that the kingdom of God is near. So this these are aspects of where the where the battle is taking place. Randy: the kingdom of God come up upon you. Jeff: Let's look at some of some of this. We haven't had a maybe a whole lot of good news yet, but let's go to some good news. Are you ready? Yes. First Corinthians discredit first Peter three twenty-two. First Peter three twenty-two. Okay. Randy: Let's look at some of some of this. We haven't had a maybe a whole lot of good news yet, but let's go to some good news. Are you ready? Yes. First Corinthians discreet. First Peter three twenty-two. First Peter three twenty-two. Okay. Jeff: Who went into heaven and is at the right hand of God with angels and authorities and powers subject to him. Talk about Jesus. Yeah, talking about Jesus. Talking about him went into the real heaven versus the temple, the man made temple, and he is now above everything. Yeah. we talked about this in the last part of Ephesians one and Ephesians two. Randy: Who went into heaven and is at the right hand of God with angels and authorities and powers subject to him. Talk about Jesus. Yeah, talking about Jesus. Talking about him went into the real heaven versus the temple, the man made temple, and he is now above everything. Yeah. we talked about this in the last part of Ephesians one and Ephesians two. Jeff: By the power of God, he was not just resurrected, but he's ascended to the right hand of the throne. And where everything is subject to him, everything is under his feet. Everything. Good, bad. And this is the part that's kind of staggers the mind is that he's a man. He's still a man. he's God, of course. Randy: By the power of God, he was not just resurrected, but he's ascended to the right hand of the throne. And where everything is subject to him, everything is under his feet. Everything. Good, bad. And this is the part that's kind of staggers the mind, is that he's a man. He's still a man. he's God, of course. Jeff: But don't forget he's also man. There is a man. Randy: But don't forget he's also man. There is a man in charge of heaven. Yeah. There is an a man with everything in heaven under his feet. Yeah. And we saw from Ephesians two that we are seated with him. So everything is under our feet. Everything is under the church's feet. Luke ten nineteen talks this individually, everything is underneath our feet. And then so so this war that we are waging. Jeff: in charge of heaven. Yeah. There is an a a man with everything in heaven under his feet. Yeah. And we saw from Ephesians two that we are seated with him. So everything is under our feet. Everything is under the church's feet. Luke ten nineteen talks this individually everything is underneath our feet. And then so so this war that we are waging, we come against somebody that has a lot of power but no authority. Yeah. Randy: We come against somebody that has a lot of power but no authority. Yeah. We have lots of authority and infinite power with that resident within us. Right. I think it's Luke 24. Jesus says, Hey, tarry in Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high. Talking to his disciples after his ascension before the Holy Spirit was given. So first Peter, that was first Peter three three two. First John four four. you don't have to read that. Jeff: We have lots of authority and infinite power with that resident within us. Right. I think it's Luke 24. Jesus says, Hey, tarry in Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high. Talking to his disciples after his ascension before the Holy Spirit was given. So first Peter that was first Peter three three two. First John four four. you don't have to read that. Okay. I'll just do it because we all have this memorized. Greater is he who is in us than who he who is in the world. So again, he sets up that there is that not only is he is at the right hand of the Father where everything is under his feet, but he's actually in us. So we we wage this war from a very advantageous position. Okay. Ephesians 3 10 says. Randy: Okay. Jeff: We already talked about this that this the gospel is this multifaceted Randy: We already talked about this that this the gospel is this multifaceted Jeff: wisdom that's been been given over or been revealed to to the authorities in in the heavenlies and the rulers and the authorities and and we've seen that that w that Christ is over them. Let's go t I like one of my favorite verses or sections of verses is Colossians two fourteen and fifteen. let's go let's read that real quick. Two fourteen and fifteen. Yeah. Randy: wisdom that's been been given over or been revealed to to the authorities in in the heavenlies and the rulers and the authorities and and we've seen that that w that Christ is over them. Let's go t I like one of my favorite verses or sections of verses is Colossians two fourteen and fifteen. let's go let's read that real quick. Two fourteen and fifteen. Yeah. Jeff: He has destroyed what was against us, a certificate of indebtedness expressed in decrees opposed to us. He has taken it away by nailing it to the cross, disarming the rulers and authorities. He has made a public disgrace of them, triumphing triumphing over them by the cross. All right. That's an amazing thing. First of all, it acknowledges that there was a certificate of indebtedness against us. We're not nobody's coming and go, Well, we're we're f we're free and clear because we're really good. Right. Randy: He has destroyed what was against us, a certificate of indebtedness expressed in decrees opposed to us. Right. Jeff: We're we're acknowledging that yep, there was a certificate of in indebtedness against us, but no more. Right. It's been destroyed, been taken away, it has been nailed to the cross. Right. And then it set talks about they're been disarmed. So these guys are totally disarmed. they got nothing on us. Okay? Because Randy: We're we're acknowledging that yep, there was a certificate of in indebtedness against us, but no more. Right. It's been destroyed, been taken away, it has been nailed to the cross. Right. And then it set talks about they're been disarmed. So these guys are totally disarmed. they got nothing on us. Okay? Because Jeff: Guilt is the primary thing that Satan had on us that said, You belong to me. Yeah. And we no longer belong to him because our guilt has been paid, it's been removed. Our debt has been been been totally removed from us. The story I tell about this one is is you know, in the this will ring true in the fighter pilot world, you know, it's like well you know, we have a bunch of regs that we gotta follow. Randy: Guilt is the primary thing that Satan had on us that said, You belong to me. Yeah. And we no longer belong to him because our guilt has been paid, has been removed. Our debt has been been been totally removed from us. The story I tell about this one is is you know, in the this will ring true in the fighter pilot world, you know, it's like well you know, we have a bunch of regs that we gotta follow. Jeff: And we c we kinda think if they tell us what we can't do, they don't tell us what we can do. So in other words, if it's not in there we can do it. And so, you know, I've I've I remember a story coming in doing something, I think it was we were in Turkey and we're there's this canyon north of Inserlik. that that was a perfect size canyon to get an F fifteen down in and and you could, you know, meet all of your Randy: And we c we kinda think if they tell us what we can't do, they don't tell us what we can do. So in other words, if it's not in there we can do it. And so, you know, I've I've I remember a story coming in doing something, I think it was we were in Turkey and we're there's this canyon north of Inserlik. that that was a perfect size canyon to get an F fifteen down in and and you could, you know, meet all of your Jeff: All your low altitude requirements in that canyon. But we went through that thing. we'd save a little gas after after whatever we're doing, then we'd come home. We'd go through that canyon. And I remember s somebody going For training. For training. Exactly. And so I remember somebody going, can you do that? You know, they looked at me like, You can't do that. I'm like, yeah. Where's it written? And they couldn't find it because it's not written anywhere. Right. Randy: All your low altitude requirements in that canyon. Right. Jeff: So what's that mean? Well, I can go do it. Yeah. Anyway, I can describe some of the pictures of seeing my went there as a wingman the flight lead in front of me and going around a corner of this canyon, boom, he'd go out of sight and then I'd do it. It was anyway, it's fantastic. But we go there, but but that's kinda like, Well, where's it written? Right. So when the d accuser of the brethren comes to you, you can go and he calls you whatever, you know, calls you guilty, condemns you, whatever, you can go, where's it written? Right. Randy: So what's that mean? Well I can go do it. Yeah. Anyway, I can describe some of the pictures of seeing my I went there as a wingman the flight lead in front of me and going around a corner of this canyon, boom, he'd go out of sight and then I'd do it. It was anyway, it's fantastic. But we go there, but but that's kinda like, Well, where's it written? Right. So when the d accuser of the brethren comes to you, you can go and he calls you whatever, you know, calls you guilty, condemns you, whatever, you can go, where's it written? Jeff: And he can't pull it out. He can't show it to you. I wanna see it. Where's the documentation, dude? If I'm as guilty as you say I am, if I'm as bad as you say I am, if my destination is is the destination you say it is, show me where it's written. Right. And he can't. Why? Because it was nailed to the cross. Right. I'm not saying it didn't used to exist, right? But it's nailed to the cross, forever destroyed. And it's interesting too that they are totally disgraced. Yeah. Randy: And he can't pull it out. He can't show it to you. I want to see it. Yeah. Why are they disgraced? Well, probably a lot of reasons. But one of the reasons Jeff: Why are they disgraced? Well, probably a lot of reasons. But one of the reasons they they did it to themselves. Right. Randy: They they did it to themselves. Right. It's like the guy that brings his own rope to I mean brings a rope to his own hanging. You know, they hay show up here at noon. I I think it was a Tim Conway skit I saw, or it was the Apple Dumpling gang. Yeah. They said you guys show up here at noon and for your hanging and make sure you're bringing your rope. And they thought they wouldn't show up. Well the knucklehead showed up with the rope. You know, just like no. No. That's what happened here and that's what Colossians two fifteen is describing. Jeff: It's like the guy that brings his own rope to I mean brings a rope to his own hanging. You know, they hey show up here at noon. I th I think it was a Tim Conway skit I saw or it the Apple Dumpling gang. Yeah. They said, You guys show up here at noon and for your hanging and make sure you're bringing your rope and they thought they wouldn't show up. Well the knucklehead showed up with the rope. You know, just like no. No. That's what happened here and that's what Colossians two fifteen is describing. They were driving the nails into Jesus' hands, not realizing that they were sealing their own fate. Right. And guess what? It can't be undone. Yeah. It was done two thousand years ago. But so that is the position from which we enter into this spiritual warfare. Randy: They were driving the nails into Jesus' hands, not realizing that they were sealing their own fate. Right. And guess what? It can't be undone. Yeah. It was done two thousand years ago. But so that is the position from which we enter into this spiritual warfare. Jeff: So if there really was a certificate of indebtedness against us and the Bible also says it was taken care of, then it was really taken care of. Yes. Just as real as there was a certificate, then it's really also taken care of. So there wasn't a just like magic performed. No. It was legally put away. Right. Yeah, that's a that's a thing. Most of us want to understand God like magic. Yeah. We want to say, Well, he can do whatever he wants and I hear that a lot. Right. Randy: So if there really was a certificate of indebtedness against us and the Bible also says it was taken care of, then it was really taken care of. Right. Jeff: Well, he can do whatever he wants until he says what he wants and then that's what he's gonna do. Right. And he's never said something and wish he hadn't said it. Right. But what he's done is he's entered into these covenants with men, with man. He's entered into these covenants with us. Not because he had to, but he's he's telling you how he's gonna operate. Right. He's telling you how he wants to operate. Randy: Well, he can do whatever he wants until he says what he wants and then that's what he's gonna do. Right. And he's never said something and wish he hadn't said it. Right. But what he's done is he's entered into these covenants with men, with man. He's entered into these covenants with us. Not because he had to, but he's he's telling you how he's gonna operate. Right. He's telling you how he wants to operate. Jeff: He's telling you that he wants men to execute dominion over planet Earth. Right. So th that's what he told us, and that's the way he does it. Yeah. so anyway, Randy: He's telling you that he wants men to execute dominion over planet Earth. Right. So th that's what he told us, and that's the way he does it. Yeah. so anyway, Jeff: We got a little time on if this story might be too wild for our listeners, but but I'll tell them. It's a book called from Blake Healy. Blake Healy is the it's called The Veil. And his other book is called Behind the Veil, something like that. It's in one of these two books. but Blake Healy was born able to see in the spirit realm with his physical eyes. Randy: We got a little time on if this story might be too wild for our listeners, but but I'll tell them. It's a book called from Blake Healy. Blake Healy is the it's called The Veil. And his other book is called Behind the Veil, something like that. It's in one of these two books. but Blake Healy was born able to see in the spirit realm with his physical eyes. Jeff: He says he has seen hundreds of thousands of angels in his life. He he'll tell you it's very confusing. He doesn't know what he's seeing a lot. He he asked the Holy Spirit a lot to do that. and here's the crazy part. He was twelve years old before he figured out Randy: He says he has seen hundreds of thousands of angels in his life. He he'll tell you it's very confusing. He doesn't know what he's seeing a lot. He he asked the Holy Spirit a lot to do that. and here's the crazy part. He was twelve years old before he figured out Jeff: that n everybody in the world didn't see what he sees. Which is just amazing to me. But that's what we, you know, I've I've heard other stories not in the spirit realm, but other people that saw you know, eyes were a little off and just thought everybody saw that way. Right. Nope. When he was twelve, he and his parents both simultaneously at the same time came to the revelation that he's seeing stuff that not everybody else is seeing. Yeah. And anyway, it's an interesting book. He just it's it's worth it's an easy read. It's worth the read until you get to the appendix. The appendix Randy: that n everybody in the world didn't see what he sees. Which is just amazing to me. But that's what we, you know, I've I've heard other stories not in the spirit realm, but other people that saw you know, eyes were a little off and just thought everybody saw that way. Right. Nope. And anyway, it's an interesting book. He just it's it's worth it's an easy read. It's worth the read until you get to the appendix. The appendix I I was choked up through through the whole appendix. But and then the second book it's worth till you get the last two chapters. Just read it to get the last two chapters. Anyway, he's at his house one day and he's in college and and he's he's rooming with a bunch of guys and you know, he said he basically shows up, somebody knocks at the door and it's at night and he's living in a part of town that he doesn't like being out at night. He's kinda uncomfortable. Jeff: I was choked up through through the whole appendix. But and then the second book it's worth till you get the last two chapters. Just read it to get the last two chapters. Anyway, he's at his house one day and he's in college and and he's he's rooming with a bunch of guys and you know, he said he basically shows up, somebody knocks at the door and it's at night and he's living in a part of town and he doesn't like being out at night. He's kinda uncomfortable because that's all he could afford as a college kid. Randy: 'Cause that's all he could afford as a college kid. And the door knocks and he's like, you know, dressed like a college kid. You would think he'd be dressed with pizza boxes everywhere. And he goes to the door and there's this massive, shiny angel there. And he and he's full little armor and he's got a spear with him, a two ended spear, two and he goes, he goes, follow me. And he goes, Okay. And he goes, I'd seen enough to know this is a good guy, this is not a bad guy. So he follows him and they go walking into the bad part of town. Jeff: And the door knocks and he's like, you know, dressed like a college kid. You would think he'd be dressed with pizza boxes everywhere and he goes to the door and there's this massive shiny angel there. And he and he's full little armor and he's got a spear with him, a two ended spear, two and he goes he goes, follow me. And he goes, Okay. And he goes, I'd seen enough to know this is a good guy, this is not a bad guy. So he follows him and they go walking into the bad part of town. And he describes what he sees in the spirit realm in this part of town. Well, there's one house that he goes to that there's no light at all coming from it. And it's got a dark fog around it. And he goes, This is a house that I can see that you don't want to go there. And the the angel takes his spear and zaps it. It's okay. Zaps the house. Yeah. Poof. The the some big powerful thing comes out of his spear. There's a cloud. Randy: And he describes what he sees in the spirit realm in this part of town. Jeff: This dark cloud evaporates, it's gone. And now the house looks like it looks free. It it looked oppressed before, now it looks free, for lack of a better term. And the angel has not said anything to Blake thus far, turns around and says, Thanks. I wouldn't I was not allowed to be here had you not come with me. And he departs and he leaves. And Blake goes back to his house. It's a picture of of Randy: This dark cloud evaporates, it's gone. It's a picture of of Jeff: that we have this authority on planet Earth because of what God said in Genesis one and Psalms one fifteen sixteen and Psalms eight, five and six is reiterated there. But his initial covenant is G Genesis one. Randy: that we have this authority on planet Earth because of what God said in Genesis one and Psalms one fifteen sixteen and Psalms eight, five and six is reiterated there. But his initial covenant is G Genesis one. Jeff: the angels don't have the same authority that we do. And this angel somehow said, Hey, follow me. I need you to go with me because I got something that I've been an assignment been given to me and I gotta have a man with me because I need your authority. Yeah. So that's the that's the stuff we're talking about. I'm not talking about seeing ghostly figures, Randy: the angels don't have the same authority that we do. And this angel somehow said, Hey, follow me. I need you to go with me because I got something that I've been an assignment been given to me and I gotta have a man with me because I need your authority. Yeah. So that's the that's the stuff we're talking about. I'm not talking about seeing ghostly figures. Jeff: If you want to read the book, read the book. The great thing I like about him, he's so like, hey, you can I'm just gonna tell you what I see, and you can decide if you believe me, fine. If you don't believe me, that's fine too. I'm not gonna argue with you. Right. And anyway, and the the appendix in that first book is where he gives some where he unloads all the scripture. But anyway, let's see. Randy: If you want to read the book, read the book. Jeff: Questions or comments on this so far? None. Okay. So here's the last thing that I'll talk here and then we'll give an introduction to the next one. Is what's at stake? Well, ultimately I would say it's the souls of boys, girls, men, and women. It's it's not just where they all spend eternity. That's the way we normally Randy: Questions or comments on this so far? None. Okay. So here's the last thing that I'll talk here and then we'll give an introduction to the next one. Is what's at stake? Well, ultimately I would say it's the souls of boys, girls, men, and women. It's it's not just where they all spend eternity. That's the way we normally Jeff: That's normal way I hear this. But it is truly, do they, do they, like you quote John 17, 3 when we start this? It is truly eternal life, which is knowing the Father. Yeah. It's having a intimate relationship with their creator. Randy: That's normal way I hear this. But it is truly do they do they like you quote John seventeen three when we start this, it is truly eternal life, which is knowing the Father. Yeah. It's having a a intimate relationship with their Creator. Jeff: But then if you think of all the side effects of that that we lost at the fall, we lost fellowship between God with God. We lost fellowship with Randy: But then if you think of all the side effects of that that we lost at the fall, we lost fellowship between God with God. We lost fellowship with each other. Our relationships have all been tainted. You know, we just spent you talking about Ephesians five and about parenting and marriage. Those relationships have all been tainted by the fall. The gospel restores that. Freedom. I I just I can rest so much. Jeff: with each other, our relationships have all been tainted. You know, we just spent you talking about Ephesians five and about parenting and marriage. Those relationships have all been tainted by the fall. The gospel restores that. Freedom. I I just I can rest so much Randy: In the fact of Galatians five one says that I've been set free. Jesus set me free for freedom's sake. Yeah. He just wanted me free. He hates oppression. And that's what that's what the the kingdom of darkness wants to do. Oppress people. Right. And Jesus is there to free. And that's what we get. That's what's at stake in spiritual warfare is our freedom and our neighbors' freedom and our sons and daughters' freedom and on and on and on. Yeah. Jeff: In the fact of Galatians five one says that I've been set free. Yeah. The joy we lost, the peace we lost, the understanding of how loved we are, and the ability to love others as Christ has loved us. That's those are all the things that are at stake when we either engage or don't engage at the spiritual level. Yeah. Security, safety, these things are all stuff that we look at and go, Randy: The joy we lost, the peace we lost, the understanding of how loved we are, and the ability to love others as Christ has loved us. That's those are all the things that are at stake when we either engage or don't engage at the spiritual level. Yeah. Security, safety, these things are all stuff that we look at and go, that's a huge need I have. Jeff: That's a huge need I have. Most of us, many of us, go somewhere outside of God to establish safety and security. And God wants to be our safety and our security. So that's that's what's at stake as we step through this. It's a personal thing, it's a family thing, it's a church thing, and there you go. So the next thing we're gonna study is Randy: Most of us, many of us, go somewhere outside of God to establish safety and security. And God wants to be our safety and our security. So that's that's what's at stake as we step through this. It's a personal thing, it's a family thing, it's a church thing, and there you go. So the next thing we're gonna study is you guys, you remember from Jeff: You guys you remember from our time in the Air Force, one of the things we did is we studied ourselves and our own equipment, right? I mean we sp we knew how to build the radar. We knew how to build each of our missiles, we knew how to build the gun. We we knew the engines, what they did and what they what they liked, what they didn't like, how they worked.
