- 2:46Speaker 2: I don't want to tick off Dave. This morning by

- 2:56Speaker 2: move on Joey Chestnutt defending the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating
- 3:02Speaker 2: Contest title again and getting it done. And I don't
- 3:06Speaker 2: know if you've seen the pictures or the video, but
- 3:09Speaker 2: it was not pretty, but he got it done. I
- 3:13Speaker 2: don't know how many dogs he put down, but it
- 3:15Speaker 2: was too many. It is going to be an amazing
- 3:19Speaker 2: week here it aired out. I hope you had a
- 3:22Speaker 2: fantastic Fourth of July weekend. I hope, first and foremost
- 3:27Speaker 2: it was a safe one for you and that you
- 3:29Speaker 2: had a great time. The fireworks at Lake Morey were amazing.
- 3:33Speaker 2: There were fireworks everywhere I know, Montpillier, Burlington, just all
- 3:38Speaker 2: over the state. We try to post up as many
- 3:41Speaker 2: of the events as possible, and it was just amazing
- 3:45Speaker 2: to see everything going on. It really was. Tomorrow, my
- 3:50Speaker 2: friend Brad's gonna be in here. I'm not gonna tell
- 3:54Speaker 2: you anything more. I'm gonna let him tell you who
- 3:56Speaker 2: he is and why he's doing what he's doing. Wait,
- 4:00Speaker 2: it's going to be amazing. Wednesday, of course, is Sweethearts
- 4:05Speaker 2: and Heroes Day, and then Thursday, Gablo Geness, Rob Leclair,
- 4:10Speaker 2: Paul Brody. It's going to be an interesting matchup on Thursday,
- 4:16Speaker 2: and I look forward to it, and of course Friday
- 4:18Speaker 2: your weekend kickoff and your dose of mental floss with
- 4:24Speaker 2: g to close out the week. We're at sixty six
- 4:27Speaker 2: right now. Mostly cloudy is what they're saying for the
- 4:29Speaker 2: forecast today, but eighty two degrees tonight, cloudy in fifty
- 4:33Speaker 2: eight Tuesday, Tomorrow cloudy, start sunny in the afternoon, eighty
- 4:39Speaker 2: degrees I'm seeing for the daytime high tomorrow. Wednesday eighty
- 4:42Speaker 2: five partly sunny. Should be a great forecast for the
- 4:47Speaker 2: Courier Park farmers' markets and food trucks and concerts that
- 4:53Speaker 2: the partnership does every Wednesday here in the Granite City.
- 4:57Speaker 2: And then Thursday, partly to mostly cloudy is the forecast.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Afternoon rain showers and eighty five degrees and Thursday night
- 5:09Speaker 2: thunder road they're saying right now, off and on showers
- 5:14Speaker 2: with thunderstorms on Friday. Could that change, of course it could.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Birthdays today, Taylor Whorr on the birthday list, Luke Hall,
- 5:23Speaker 2: Joanna Page, Brian Maple, Karen Eisham, Karen Brand, Sam Locke,
- 5:31Speaker 2: Cody Toby Matt Leeese, Loria Pellquin, Katherine ash and Brian Esteveel.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Happy birthday to you. I'm sure I got some of
- 5:42Speaker 2: those names wrong. Amber Lynn also on the birthday list
- 5:46Speaker 2: today as well, super Girl in the theaters, Jackass, Best
- 5:53Speaker 2: and Last, also in theaters. The Paramount's got it right
- 5:58Speaker 2: here in the Granite City. Hoping to get to that.
- 6:03Speaker 2: I want to say this morning a huge shout out
- 6:07Speaker 2: to all of our Central Vermont first responders, really, I
- 6:13Speaker 2: should say first responders all across the country who did
- 6:17Speaker 2: not get a chance to enjoy a Fourth of July weekend.
- 6:23Speaker 2: They were frankly just too busy right here in Central Vermont, however, Man,
- 6:30Speaker 2: it was super super busy. The fire on Farwell Street yesterday,
- 6:39Speaker 2: I hope everybody's okay. But other calls going on in
- 6:46Speaker 2: Berry City in the fire department just yesterday alone on Sunday,
- 6:50Speaker 2: running up and down North Main Street just so so busy,
- 6:56Speaker 2: and Williamstown as well. Listen, if you a first responder,
- 7:02Speaker 2: take a minute out and just thank them. Well. All
- 7:08Speaker 2: of us were getting together with our families and friends.
- 7:12Speaker 2: They were answering calls that couldn't wait in the heat,
- 7:19Speaker 2: and I saw them out there, just out behind. I
- 7:27Speaker 2: don't want to drop the business in here because I
- 7:29Speaker 2: don't want to freak anyone out, but I saw them
- 7:31Speaker 2: out behind one of the businesses here on North Main
- 7:35Speaker 2: Street yesterday in the heat in their suits. Just amazing.
- 7:42Speaker 2: I would pass out from the heat easily. But the firefighters,
- 7:47Speaker 2: the EMTs, the paramedics, police dispatchers, rescue crews. Thank you
- 7:55Speaker 2: for your dedication, your professionalism, your willingness to serve no
- 8:00Speaker 2: matter what's going on, no matter what the holiday is, day, night,
- 8:04Speaker 2: no matter what the weather's doing, hot, cold, it doesn't matter,
- 8:09Speaker 2: as she says, our angels on Earth, and we want
- 8:13Speaker 2: to thank you for your commitment and your sacrifice to
- 8:17Speaker 2: keeping us all safe while we're out, you know, goofing
- 8:21Speaker 2: around and putting down too many beers and lighting m
- 8:27Speaker 2: eighties off and you know, acting like hooligans. Thank you
- 8:31Speaker 2: for everything. Tonight is going to be a pretty cool night.
- 8:38Speaker 2: I am looking forward to this Belgium and the United
- 8:42Speaker 2: States in the World Cup. Something that's happening that's really cool.
- 8:47Speaker 2: I want to tell you about. Listen. I'm not like
- 8:52Speaker 2: a crazy Sacra fan, but this is pretty cool. I mean,
- 8:57Speaker 2: World Cup comes what once every I think four years
- 9:00Speaker 2: Sherilyn was telling me, So here we go. I mean,
- 9:05Speaker 2: this is this is pretty cool. What's happening. US men's
- 9:10Speaker 2: national soccer team taken the pitch this evening. This is
- 9:18Speaker 2: round what sixteen I think in Seattle and the winner
- 9:26Speaker 2: is going to be facing tomorrow's Portugal Spain matchup. But
- 9:33Speaker 2: a win tonight would propel the US to their second
- 9:37Speaker 2: quarterfinals in history, well modern history anyway, last what thirty
- 9:44Speaker 2: years or so? So this is a big deal. What's
- 9:47Speaker 2: happening tonight? The Capital Theater in Montpellier is going to
- 9:53Speaker 2: be showing tonight's game against Belgium for free. You want
- 9:59Speaker 2: to get some pop corn, you want to get some
- 10:01Speaker 2: some drinks, that's great. Seven o'clock tonight is when the
- 10:05Speaker 2: doors are going to open. I'm hoping to be there.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Would love to see you there. But come on out
- 10:11Speaker 2: and enjoy it on the big screen. And when I
- 10:13Speaker 2: said big screen, yeah, yeah, it's vague. It's gonna be
- 10:16Speaker 2: a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to it. I
- 10:18Speaker 2: really am. Right next to me. Travis Payett sitting on
- 10:23Speaker 2: the curvy couch this morning from the Iron Order Motorcycle Club.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Good morning, my friend. How the hell are you good?
- 10:30Speaker 2: And you buddy, I'm glad to see you. You look fabulous.
- 10:33Speaker 2: How many pounds have you?
- 10:34Speaker 3: You?
- 10:34Speaker 2: Shuit?
- 10:35Speaker 4: I've lost count?
- 10:36Speaker 2: I just are you really? You look great? Dude? You're
- 10:41Speaker 2: working out? Are you working? You must be working out?
- 10:43Speaker 4: Not really, just dyeting diet diet, diet.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Wow.
- 10:47Speaker 4: I haven't got back to the gym yet, but I'm
- 10:50Speaker 4: working my way there.
- 10:51Speaker 2: She's do it. I had John a couple of weeks.
- 10:54Speaker 2: It seems like it was a couple of weeks ago, anyway,
- 10:56Speaker 2: talking about what's coming up rather soon. On Saturday, July
- 11:01Speaker 2: twenty fifth at Summer Street Tavern, what are you guys
- 11:04Speaker 2: up to? Iron and Order Motorcycle Club doing some great
- 11:07Speaker 2: things in and for our community. What's happened?
- 11:11Speaker 4: Yeah, we decided this year that we're gonna just give
- 11:16Speaker 4: away some bicycles to a bunch of kids. Yeah, just
- 11:19Speaker 4: get kids outside, get them active again.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Yeah, you know so important. Yeah. Did you have a
- 11:25Speaker 2: bike when you're a little kid? I did ripping around.
- 11:27Speaker 4: Oh you know my baseball cards I ruined just because
- 11:29Speaker 4: I stuck them in the back wheel. And now I'm thinking,
- 11:32Speaker 4: you know, them could have been million dollar cards.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Yeah, that's true. That was however many years ago. Yeah, wow,
- 11:39Speaker 2: years So you you guys went out and with your
- 11:42Speaker 2: own money, pulled it together and bought how many bicycles?
- 11:47Speaker 2: First it was like ten, right.
- 11:49Speaker 4: We were thinking ten, and then after we all sat
- 11:53Speaker 4: and talked about it, we ended up with twenty two bicycles.
- 11:57Speaker 4: Twenty two aging from the no pedal bikes up to
- 12:01Speaker 4: a twenty inch bicycle.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Dude, that's fantastic. And then you're gonna you're gonna get
- 12:06Speaker 2: all these bikes together and you're gonna bring them over
- 12:09Speaker 2: to Summer Street Tavern, which is literally right behind us,
- 12:13Speaker 2: directly behind where you're sitting right now here on North
- 12:17Speaker 2: Mean Street. But they're on Summer Street, and what are
- 12:20Speaker 2: you going to do with them?
- 12:21Speaker 4: We're giving a little raffle ticket to any kid that
- 12:25Speaker 4: wants to come over, and they're gonna put it in
- 12:27Speaker 4: whichever bag they want for the bicycle that they want,
- 12:29Speaker 4: and then you know, we'll be there all day. They
- 12:32Speaker 4: come in throughout the whole day and they have to
- 12:34Speaker 4: be present for the drawing at five o'clock. Five o'clock
- 12:38Speaker 4: when the ticket gets pulled, they get the bicycle.
- 12:40Speaker 2: On Saturday, July twenty fifth. All right, so one raffle
- 12:45Speaker 2: ticket per kit.
- 12:46Speaker 4: Per kit, and they put it in the bag for
- 12:48Speaker 4: the bicycle that they want to raffle on.
- 12:50Speaker 2: All right, and then you're pulling names out.
- 12:53Speaker 4: Five o'clock is the clock is when we start.
- 12:56Speaker 2: All right? And each kid not only do they win
- 13:01Speaker 2: that I love this, not only do they win the bicycle,
- 13:04Speaker 2: but you're going to give them a helmet too. Yep, yeah,
- 13:07Speaker 2: you got to give them a helmet too.
- 13:09Speaker 4: I mean, come on, it's not just about fun, it's
- 13:11Speaker 4: also about safety, you know.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Yeah, right, that's so great, dude.
- 13:15Speaker 4: We partnered up with Gifford Medical Center up here in
- 13:18Speaker 4: Berlin and work to deal with them, and they're supplying
- 13:22Speaker 4: the helmets and they're going to fit every child for
- 13:25Speaker 4: the correct size. So if you win a bicycle, we'll
- 13:28Speaker 4: give you the certificate and you go up there and
- 13:31Speaker 4: present them with the certificate and they'll fit you to
- 13:33Speaker 4: make sure you have a helmet that fits you correctly.
- 13:35Speaker 2: So was so it was you that went up to
- 13:38Speaker 2: Gifford and said, hey, can you help out here?
- 13:41Speaker 4: Yeah? Because I spent a month looking police departments, sheriff's departments, dots,
- 13:48Speaker 4: State of Vermont you know, community centers trying to find
- 13:51Speaker 4: anybody who would help donate helmets, and nobody does that
- 13:54Speaker 4: anymore since COVID. So I was talking with a friend
- 13:59Speaker 4: and Tino over at Summer Street and she had mentioned
- 14:03Speaker 4: that Gifford sells helmets. So I went up there and
- 14:06Speaker 4: talked to them, and.
- 14:09Speaker 2: They know what you're doing.
- 14:10Speaker 4: We bought twenty two helmets and they have a list
- 14:13Speaker 4: of twenty two helmets and when you present the certificate,
- 14:16Speaker 4: they fit you for a helmet.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Dude, that's so great. Wow, what kinds of trouble did
- 14:23Speaker 2: you get into on your bicycle? Were you out past
- 14:28Speaker 2: curfew on the bike?
- 14:30Speaker 4: No? Our care for you back then was when the
- 14:32Speaker 4: street lights came on.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Oh you're an old fellow, like, yeah, yeah.
- 14:36Speaker 4: We didn't have to be told when to come in.
- 14:38Speaker 4: We knew when the streetlights came on that meant we
- 14:40Speaker 4: were inside, okay, all right. And they didn't have cameras
- 14:44Speaker 4: on cell phones and everywhere back then, So there's no
- 14:47Speaker 4: proof of anything.
- 14:48Speaker 2: I'm not suggesting that any kid that gets a bicycle
- 14:54Speaker 2: does what I did, which was you know, back in
- 14:58Speaker 2: the in late seventies, Evil Canieval was huge.
- 15:04Speaker 4: He was everybody's hero.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Everybody's and you could get the little the little plastic
- 15:12Speaker 2: evil CANIEVL toy with the motorcycle. Yeah. Yeah, there's a
- 15:18Speaker 2: similar one in Toy Story five. I can't think of
- 15:21Speaker 2: the guy, you know who I'm talking about. Everyone's seen
- 15:24Speaker 2: Toy Story. But man, it's like we just there was
- 15:28Speaker 2: a there was a car that was parked on on
- 15:32Speaker 2: the road that I was living on, which was of
- 15:33Speaker 2: course a down hill, and this car was just like
- 15:37Speaker 2: there all the time, and it was a time. I
- 15:39Speaker 2: think it was like I think it was a Chevy
- 15:42Speaker 2: Chavette small and we were just like, you know, we're
- 15:45Speaker 2: bored riding around the neighborhood on their hundred bikes. Got
- 15:49Speaker 2: we got to jump this car. Who's going to do it?
- 15:52Speaker 2: So I volunteered. We took a four by eight sheet
- 15:55Speaker 2: of plywood and a big trash can and set up
- 16:00Speaker 2: a couple of center blocks to weight things down so
- 16:02Speaker 2: that it wouldn't shift. And then we had, uh it
- 16:06Speaker 2: was the fall. We had raked a huge pile of
- 16:09Speaker 2: leaves on the the other side of the car is
- 16:12Speaker 2: the landing pad. Uh, and I hit the back of
- 16:17Speaker 2: this thing. The four by eight sheet slid out. I
- 16:20Speaker 2: hit the back of the car, broke my leg. Mom
- 16:23Speaker 2: was pissed, But you were trying to be safe. I
- 16:28Speaker 2: had a helmet on and the leaves you have to
- 16:33Speaker 2: have a safe.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Landing path, whether you hit it or not. You were
- 16:36Speaker 4: thinking safety.
- 16:37Speaker 2: And I had my helmet on. I did break my leg,
- 16:40Speaker 2: shattered the kneecap though. Yeah, Mom was ticked. And those
- 16:45Speaker 2: were back in the days when when you went to
- 16:47Speaker 2: the UH to the er, when you got a cast,
- 16:51Speaker 2: it was plaster, plaster cast all for the rest of
- 16:57Speaker 2: the rest.
- 16:58Speaker 4: Of the summer. Your summer was over at that point.
- 17:02Speaker 4: No water.
- 17:04Speaker 2: So that's great that you're throwing in the helmets. This
- 17:08Speaker 2: is wonderful. Twenty two bicycles. What age group are we
- 17:12Speaker 2: talking about here?
- 17:13Speaker 4: For we figured it's probably from three to ten, okay,
- 17:17Speaker 4: the normal age group. I mean it's the non pedal bike,
- 17:20Speaker 4: a little push bike, things up to twenty inch or so. Yeah,
- 17:24Speaker 4: you know, if they're eleven or twelve, we'll probably let
- 17:27Speaker 4: them slide.
- 17:28Speaker 2: But yeah, now, if here's the thing, and we've talked
- 17:33Speaker 2: about this, there's only twenty two bikes, Yep, we're gonna
- 17:38Speaker 2: get a lot of kids that are going to be
- 17:40Speaker 2: signed up to win. They're not all going to win. Unfortunately,
- 17:44Speaker 2: there's only twenty two bikes. What do we say to
- 17:49Speaker 2: the kids that don't? Do? We say try next year?
- 17:52Speaker 2: In other words, is what I'm trying to ask is
- 17:55Speaker 2: is this going to be an annual thing.
- 17:57Speaker 4: We're hoping to make this an annual thing, and we're
- 17:59Speaker 4: hoping that every year we might gain extra partners to
- 18:03Speaker 4: come in and you know, do fifty bikes. You know,
- 18:06Speaker 4: just keep growing every year. If it pans out great
- 18:10Speaker 4: this year, maybe we'll keep expanding.
- 18:13Speaker 2: All right, doesn't cost anything to.
- 18:17Speaker 4: Not a penny. Not a costs a little bit of time.
- 18:20Speaker 4: Come over and get your ticket, put it in the bag,
- 18:23Speaker 4: and make sure you're here at five. You do have
- 18:25Speaker 4: to be present. If your ticket's pulled and you're not here,
- 18:28Speaker 4: they're gonna pull another ticket. Okay, because you're you're walking
- 18:31Speaker 4: out of here with a bike. We're not chasing anybody
- 18:33Speaker 4: down to get it.
- 18:34Speaker 2: So whatever bike you you choose, you put your your
- 18:38Speaker 2: ticket in that. There's what you're gonna have, like a
- 18:40Speaker 2: little bag or something.
- 18:41Speaker 4: Yeah, we're gonna have little bags and you put your
- 18:43Speaker 4: ticket in the bag and then we'll just when five
- 18:47Speaker 4: o'clock rolls around, we'll pick up all the bags and
- 18:49Speaker 4: we'll just start drawing tickets out of each bag.
- 18:51Speaker 2: All right, Is this the first time that Iron Order's
- 18:54Speaker 2: done something like that?
- 18:55Speaker 4: The Vermont chapter, Yes, okay, this is our first annual Son.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Order has done this before.
- 19:03Speaker 4: Yeah, around the country, we've seen it before.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Yeah. Rex is saying Hell's Angels started this in California
- 19:10Speaker 2: million years ago. Probably. Yeah.
- 19:12Speaker 4: Wow, it's just giving back to the community. Every MC
- 19:15Speaker 4: does it. They try giving back to the community, and
- 19:17Speaker 4: that's what that's what it's all about, was giving back.
- 19:20Speaker 2: So there was something else that I saw that you
- 19:22Speaker 2: guys should do it. I just saw it yesterday on Facebook.
- 19:26Speaker 4: Our D's Ride we do. We do a ride every
- 19:28Speaker 4: year for somebody with cancer and raise money for him. Okay,
- 19:33Speaker 4: we just get together to raise money kind of like
- 19:36Speaker 4: kind of like the Bikers for Beth.
- 19:37Speaker 2: It's just yeah, something else too. I saw something else too.
- 19:41Speaker 2: It was D's Ride, and then there was something else
- 19:43Speaker 2: too with a date that has yet to be determined. Uh,
- 19:49Speaker 2: saw it over the weekend. I don't know, but you
- 19:52Speaker 2: I know that you guys are busy and you're doing
- 19:53Speaker 2: a lot of stuff. Yeah, so very potentially could be
- 19:59Speaker 2: turning into to an annual thing.
- 20:01Speaker 4: It could be I'm not gonna say yes or no
- 20:02Speaker 4: because it's not my decision. But if it goes well,
- 20:05Speaker 4: I don't see why wouldn't we why we wouldn't continue
- 20:07Speaker 4: to do it?
- 20:07Speaker 2: Because Okay, wow, Summer Street Tavern. Thanks to Summer Street
- 20:14Speaker 2: Tavern for hosting this and having the having the space
- 20:18Speaker 2: out there in the uh in the parking lot to
- 20:20Speaker 2: do this, and uh, wonderful is it will if you
- 20:24Speaker 2: do do it every year? Will it always be during
- 20:27Speaker 2: the Heritage Fest? Do you think?
- 20:28Speaker 3: Uh?
- 20:29Speaker 4: We did it this year during the Heritage Fest because
- 20:31Speaker 4: it's you know, everybody's going to be out and about,
- 20:34Speaker 4: so it's a good time to do something.
- 20:37Speaker 3: All right.
- 20:38Speaker 2: What do you guys do together as a club? How
- 20:41Speaker 2: often do you ride together? What other things are are
- 20:44Speaker 2: you involved with? How can someone get involved? How can
- 20:48Speaker 2: someone be a member?
- 20:50Speaker 4: Get in touch with the Facebook page and talk to the
- 20:54Speaker 4: admin's on the Facebook page?
- 20:56Speaker 2: All right? How it's your bike doing? I know that
- 20:59Speaker 2: you're always modifying things, You're always having fun, You're always
- 21:03Speaker 2: getting in trouble, uh with Sam trying to put you know,
- 21:08Speaker 2: different paint schemes on and yeah, different biking. We got
- 21:11Speaker 2: this one and that one now and now she's got

- 21:31Speaker 4: rebuilding show bike again, just like the one.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:36Speaker 4: Yeah, it started out just something I was going to
- 21:38Speaker 4: daily ride, and now it's daily rider. But it's in
- 21:42Speaker 4: the process.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Oh my god, dude.
- 21:44Speaker 4: And she yells at me all the time, why do
- 21:46Speaker 4: you need five bikes?
- 21:47Speaker 2: And it's like, are there five? Yeah? Really?
- 21:51Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 21:52Speaker 2: And now your kids got one.
- 21:54Speaker 4: Uh yeah. The kids have always kind of been involved
- 21:59Speaker 4: with motorcycles and they're bikes and they all love to
- 22:02Speaker 4: ride just as much as we do.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Be safe, man, you know. You know, there's been some
- 22:10Speaker 2: horrible wrecks. Some of them have really made their way
- 22:15Speaker 2: to the news and others have not. There's just I
- 22:19Speaker 2: don't know, it's it seems like it's just one of
- 22:22Speaker 2: these summers where there's been more res than in the past.
- 22:27Speaker 2: It just seems that way, and that may not be
- 22:30Speaker 2: the actual fact. But like again, it just seems that way.

- 23:49Speaker 4: Thank you. I appreciate that.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Travis Pay at Iron Order Motorcycle Club. This weekend was
- 23:56Speaker 2: a wild one for a lot of people, and a
- 24:00Speaker 2: lot of people got out, did some rest and relaxation,
- 24:04Speaker 2: maybe some fishing, some kayaking. Chuck was one of them
- 24:09Speaker 2: who was out this week I chuck you.
- 24:11Speaker 3: With us, I am can you hear me?
- 24:14Speaker 2: I can hear you? Just find how how was hear me?
- 24:16Speaker 3: Hear me?
- 24:17Speaker 2: I got you? We got you, just find you you?
- 24:20Speaker 2: Did you catch any fish this weeknd?
- 24:23Speaker 3: I never catch fish, buddy, ca I catch snags. Did
- 24:28Speaker 3: you catch about twelve worth of fishing gear? And I
- 24:31Speaker 3: think I've got maybe four fish in my life.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Did you get a good snag?
- 24:36Speaker 3: I got a lot of good snags. Yeah, I got it,
- 24:39Speaker 3: A snagged a ford.
- 24:43Speaker 2: So can you tell us, Chuck, what happened over at
- 24:48Speaker 2: Rude Pond? You know, we started out this morning giving
- 24:52Speaker 2: a huge shout out to our first responders, police, fire,
- 24:58Speaker 2: all first responders who were out working working on the pan. Yes,
- 25:04Speaker 2: what what happened over at Route Pond in Williamstown?
- 25:07Speaker 3: Well, so yesterday the other half and I decide we're
- 25:10Speaker 3: gonna go do something. So we go out to first
- 25:12Speaker 3: we go to floating bridge and uh, a bunch of
- 25:16Speaker 3: bikers showed up, so I got a little cramped. So
- 25:19Speaker 3: we ended up over at h at the route pond
- 25:24Speaker 3: and great day. Everybody's out on the floaties. Everybody. Everybody's
- 25:29Speaker 3: on the floaties, everybody's on the kayak, a little fishing.
- 25:32Speaker 3: Great day. And then all of a sudden, this gentleman
- 25:35Speaker 3: rolls up four f one fifty with a boat from
- 25:39Speaker 3: the seventies on the back. Besides, I guess he's gonna
- 25:44Speaker 3: he's gonna bring that boat in that pond, which I
- 25:46Speaker 3: don't know if that pond for that it gets small
- 25:50Speaker 3: motors only.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a really small pond.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Yeah. Really, the guy would have disrupted the whole day.
- 25:56Speaker 3: I mean, it would have really sent some people flying him.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Music boat in there right with the waves and stuff.
- 26:03Speaker 3: So so he decides that he's gonna he's gonna back
- 26:07Speaker 3: in and he's gonna unload his boat.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:10Speaker 3: I don't know his story on what he was doing
- 26:12Speaker 3: when he was just testing it to see if it floats,
- 26:14Speaker 3: I don't know, but he was by himself. He was
- 26:18Speaker 3: unloading the boat, and then at some point he must
- 26:21Speaker 3: have accidentally put it in reverse and he held the
- 26:27Speaker 3: truck apparently, but he was in the back, and then
- 26:29Speaker 3: all of a sudden it started rolling, and by the
- 26:33Speaker 3: time he realized what was going on, it was too late.
- 26:36Speaker 3: He jumped, tried to get in and pushed the brake,
- 26:38Speaker 3: but it was too late, all right, and the old truck,
- 26:42Speaker 3: trailer and all went down fully submerged the truck. That
- 26:49Speaker 3: was the story.
- 26:49Speaker 2: You still hear me, I can, I'm yeah, I'm showing
- 26:52Speaker 2: the picture on the Yeah, okay.
- 26:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not. I'm not up. I can't see it,
- 26:57Speaker 3: but yeah, yeah, it was. It was crazy. Yeah, I
- 27:02Speaker 3: don't know what he was thinking, but yeah, it was.
- 27:06Speaker 3: It was. It was interesting.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Okay, So this wasn't like someone that you were with,
- 27:14Speaker 2: that you're that you're a friend of.
- 27:15Speaker 3: No, No, this is some guy that just showed up.
- 27:17Speaker 3: I'm assuming he's from the local area. I don't know,
- 27:20Speaker 3: I've never met you. A young guy, probably in his
- 27:22Speaker 3: early twenties, okay, in his full redneck glory. But yeah,
- 27:29Speaker 3: I don't really know what was the plan. He wasn't
- 27:32Speaker 3: even wearing fish, he wasn't even in swimming gear. He
- 27:35Speaker 3: was in full boots, and so I don't really know
- 27:39Speaker 3: what the plan was.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Did the boat sink?
- 27:42Speaker 3: No, boat, boat, fine, it almost drifted off. We had
- 27:45Speaker 3: to get the boat and pull it to shore because
- 27:47Speaker 3: it was drifting off. But yeah, the boat worked great.
- 27:52Speaker 2: All right, So the boat worked great. But the truck
- 27:55Speaker 2: didn't float.
- 27:57Speaker 3: No, truck didn't float. Nope. So so they, of course
- 28:01Speaker 3: they're yelling at me. And you know, I got an
- 28:03Speaker 3: old Ford. I don't have the tires to pull something
- 28:06Speaker 3: like that out of a pond. I wasn't really reilant
- 28:09Speaker 3: to wreck my truck.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Well, there's a lot of weight in there that would Yeah,
- 28:13Speaker 2: that would pull down on the transmission pretty well, I'm guessing.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Yeah, some gentlemen in a New Tacoma, believe it or not,
- 28:21Speaker 3: did it just fine. I mean you could hear that
- 28:23Speaker 3: transmission working. But he pulled it out. I couldn't believe it.
- 28:30Speaker 3: I weren't gonna do it.
- 28:32Speaker 2: Yeah, so he got it out. But hopefully his transmission
- 28:36Speaker 2: will stay alive for another couple of months.
- 28:39Speaker 3: Oh, it was screaming. It was screaming, and it took
- 28:42Speaker 3: your time. Had it low and they were very gentle,
- 28:46Speaker 3: but you could hear it was working for sure. I'm
- 28:49Speaker 3: sure he took some life off of it.
- 28:52Speaker 2: So there's another picture here that I'm going to show
- 28:55Speaker 2: on the monitor right now, and it says this evening.
- 29:00Speaker 2: This is from Williamstown. This evening, we responded to root
- 29:04Speaker 2: Pond for an oil spill. Due to the size of
- 29:09Speaker 2: the spill in our limited supply of cleanup materials, we
- 29:13Speaker 2: had assistance from the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department to assist
- 29:16Speaker 2: us in containing the spill. Clean Up crews have been
- 29:21Speaker 2: notified and will be on the scene in the morning.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Please avoid the boat launch and the pier until cleanup
- 29:30Speaker 2: is complete, right.
- 29:32Speaker 3: Yeah, you don't want to be in the way. It's
- 29:34Speaker 3: pretty cramped over there.
- 29:35Speaker 2: And there's something in this picture that that you've notated.
- 29:42Speaker 2: There's a red kayak in the background, and then to
- 29:45Speaker 2: the left of it is something What is that, chuck?
- 29:49Speaker 3: That is a committed fisherman right there right there in
- 29:53Speaker 3: the background, My friend, that is committed. You don't care
- 30:00Speaker 3: what's going down? Texting himself come back?
- 30:08Speaker 2: So what that's awesome? How serious is this this oil
- 30:14Speaker 2: spell here? Do we know there was.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Some I mean I didn't see anything when I was there,
- 30:19Speaker 3: I wasn't observing the situation, but I'm sure there's quite
- 30:24Speaker 3: a bit that come out of the truck. But you know,
- 30:26Speaker 3: I mean it wasn't huge, but enough to cause some
- 30:29Speaker 3: environmental problems. Yeah, for sure, you can't just you know.
- 30:33Speaker 3: And I was offering to call a tow truck, but
- 30:35Speaker 3: he didn't want to. I'm sure he had to eventually,
- 30:38Speaker 3: because I don't know how he got the truck out
- 30:40Speaker 3: of there. It wasn't moving.
- 30:42Speaker 2: I hope, yeah, I hope everybody's okay, Yeah, that's fine.
- 30:47Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, he was fine. There was no problems, no injuries.
- 30:53Speaker 3: It was just a miss a bad call. I mean,
- 30:56Speaker 3: I guarantee that kid learned a lesson. And apparently he
- 31:00Speaker 3: had some troubles earlier that week too, So yeah, I
- 31:04Speaker 3: feel bad for the guy.
- 31:06Speaker 2: What was the What was the troubles earlier in the.
- 31:08Speaker 3: Week, Well, apparently he had wrecked his bike. He had
- 31:12Speaker 3: a bunch of scratches on him. We had thought he'd
- 31:14Speaker 3: done during this whole fiasco, but apparently a week or
- 31:18Speaker 3: so before that he had wrecked his bike and had
- 31:21Speaker 3: a bunch of road rash. So this guy's summer's not
- 31:25Speaker 3: starting out Tobet.
- 31:27Speaker 2: No, it's not.
- 31:28Speaker 3: No, I feel bad for him, and I've done it. Yeah,
- 31:31Speaker 3: I mean I've had my truck. I was at Portland
- 31:33Speaker 3: Glass and had some you know, knick knacks around my shifter.
- 31:38Speaker 3: Thought it was in part and I didn't push it
- 31:41Speaker 3: all the way up and it rolled over the bank.
- 31:43Speaker 3: I got luckily and it just drifted off into the
- 31:45Speaker 3: parking lot. But it happens. I mean, no matter how
- 31:49Speaker 3: safe you are and how much experience you have, you know,
- 31:52Speaker 3: yea happens when you're rushing, you know, and you should
- 31:55Speaker 3: never do things like that by yourself. I've learned when
- 31:58Speaker 3: you when you're doing that kind of stuff.
- 32:00Speaker 2: Yeah, right.
- 32:02Speaker 3: You, Yeah, that would have never happened if somebody was
- 32:06Speaker 3: in if there was two people.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Yeah, And you've been with me when I've launched my
- 32:10Speaker 2: boat and it's it's almost easier. And I'm just being honest,
- 32:14Speaker 2: it's almost easier without you, Chuck.
- 32:17Speaker 3: So thank you. Yeah. I'm not good for at least
- 32:21Speaker 3: I like, hey, hey wait, it's rolling. Your match box
- 32:25Speaker 3: is rolling. I think I'm pretty good at that, right.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Yeah, Dwayne's commenting here, I'd be willing to bet that
- 32:32Speaker 2: he backed in too far. And had ball tires. Boat
- 32:35Speaker 2: ramps are always slimy. I listen, We've all made very
- 32:41Speaker 2: bad decisions. I made one that turned out to be okay,
- 32:47Speaker 2: I lucked out. But I you know, before I had
- 32:50Speaker 2: my new pickup, I took my seventy six three on
- 32:53Speaker 2: the tree, you know, and had and try to launch
- 32:59Speaker 2: my boat uh into uh lake fairly.
- 33:04Speaker 3: Yeah that goal.
- 33:05Speaker 2: Well, you know, I kept stalling out when I was trying.
- 33:09Speaker 2: When I was trying to pull out, and every time
- 33:11Speaker 2: you stall out, you know, that pull up method never works.
- 33:18Speaker 2: It doesn't And and I and I would drift back
- 33:23Speaker 2: like two feet every time, you know, the those.
- 33:26Speaker 3: Cold by yourself, by yourself.
- 33:30Speaker 2: I wasn't. I was Sherilyn was outside of the truck
- 33:33Speaker 2: standing there.
- 33:34Speaker 3: You had somebody there watching.
- 33:37Speaker 2: She was doing nothing but watching and staring and sweating
- 33:41Speaker 2: with a panic look on her face, which distracted me
- 33:44Speaker 2: and made it even worse.
- 33:46Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, but at least somebody was there to say, hey,
- 33:49Speaker 3: your truck is rolling, you better stop and slow down.
- 33:52Speaker 2: And I knew that it was rolling, it would stall out.
- 33:55Speaker 2: I'd be two feet back, closer to the water. And
- 33:58Speaker 2: I literally got down the fact where I was like
- 34:01Speaker 2: maybe two feet away from that green slime.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's what's it hits you. That's it.
- 34:07Speaker 2: You're done, it's over, and that's this is an old
- 34:10Speaker 2: rare wheel drive F one hundred.
- 34:13Speaker 3: Yeah. You no business doing what you're doing. Yeah, just
- 34:16Speaker 3: like this guy, you had no business doing that. Yeah. Correct,
- 34:20Speaker 3: You're lucky, but lucky, but could have been at the
- 34:23Speaker 3: bottom of that pond.
- 34:24Speaker 2: I agree, But then again, it was, you know, eighty
- 34:27Speaker 2: five degrees in Sonny, I got the family. We're putting
- 34:30Speaker 2: the boat in the water.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Chuck.
- 34:31Speaker 3: Yeah, you're doing it.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Don't matter, we're doing it.
- 34:33Speaker 3: I ship up sweating my balls off to not bring
- 34:38Speaker 3: the boat in the water.
- 34:39Speaker 2: We're doing it exactly. But it was that, It was
- 34:43Speaker 2: that last try. I had one last try, and I
- 34:47Speaker 2: rode that clutch and it smelled for a week and
- 34:51Speaker 2: and I barely just I got it out of there.
- 34:53Speaker 2: The sweat was stinging my eyeballs bad. Yeah, stretch, not
- 35:01Speaker 2: worth it, I was.
- 35:02Speaker 3: I was, Yeah, it ain't worth it.
- 35:03Speaker 4: No.
- 35:04Speaker 3: I got my little kayak good enough for me. I
- 35:07Speaker 3: need a motor. I'll get a little trolling motor. Throw
- 35:09Speaker 3: on the side of it me. I don't need to
- 35:10Speaker 3: boat it's too much stresh bro.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah it was.
- 35:16Speaker 3: It was comical tho. I don't want to I don't
- 35:18Speaker 3: want to poke on at the guy. I really don't
- 35:20Speaker 3: because we've been down that road. But there was other
- 35:22Speaker 3: things that was factoring for the day that was kind
- 35:25Speaker 3: of comical. It was definitely a redneck moment. Yeah, for sure,
- 35:31Speaker 3: for sure all the way around. There's other things that
- 35:33Speaker 3: were just unbelievable. Thank you, and I don't want to
- 35:37Speaker 3: bash anybody.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Thank you for uh for clearing the air on this
- 35:41Speaker 2: chuck and telling us all about what happened.
- 35:43Speaker 3: Oh, it was great. It was. It was definitely a
- 35:45Speaker 3: highlight to my weekend.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:47Speaker 3: I mean again, I feel for the guy. I don't
- 35:49Speaker 3: want bad commerce, so I'm not gonna mess and pick
- 35:51Speaker 3: on the dude, right, But I don't know what the
- 35:54Speaker 3: heck he was thinking.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Well, we've all done it. I don't. I don't know
- 36:00Speaker 2: what the heck I was thinking either, So we've all
- 36:02Speaker 2: been there.
- 36:03Speaker 3: Yeah, and he didn't have a family or he was
- 36:05Speaker 3: by himself, him and his sister. I don't know what
- 36:09Speaker 3: that was all about, but yeah, it was definitely interesting.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Vinnie is posting up here this morning. I did the
- 36:15Speaker 2: truck have one of those permanent paper license plates?
- 36:20Speaker 3: No? No, no paper license plate on the front. I
- 36:25Speaker 3: can only see the front. I couldn't tell you him
- 36:27Speaker 3: on the back.
- 36:29Speaker 2: Chuck, thanks for coming on with us this morning.
- 36:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Yeah, the cannabis possession limits have increased here in Fromont.
- 36:39Speaker 2: We're gonna be talking about this law, which went into
- 36:43Speaker 2: effect a couple of days ago on July first, and
- 36:47Speaker 2: many others on Thursday morning with Rob Leclair and Gabe
- 36:52Speaker 2: Blotchiness and maybe Paul Brody. We're gonna have some fun
- 36:58Speaker 2: talking about some of the laws. Of course, the record
- 37:02Speaker 2: finds now for trucks getting stuck in Smuggler's notch as well.
- 37:06Speaker 2: I'm so much looking forward to Thursday's podcast. I don't
- 37:10Speaker 2: know if you've heard, but the finds have now reached
- 37:13Speaker 2: twenty thousand dollars. If you can't read a sign that
- 37:19Speaker 2: says stop turn around trucks not allowed, we're talking about
- 37:26Speaker 2: root want to wait through smuggler's notch. We're gonna be
- 37:30Speaker 2: talking about this law and some of the others, and
- 37:34Speaker 2: some are way overdue and some are brushing against some
- 37:42Speaker 2: might say absurdity, but we're going to talk about this
- 37:45Speaker 2: Thursday morning, and it's gonna be a good time. Brad's
- 37:47Speaker 2: in tomorrow morning, Brad Griffin can't wait to have mo on.
- 37:51Speaker 2: We've got a lot of stuff to talk about. Don't
- 37:53Speaker 2: forget about the Tuesday night meals happening at the American
- 37:57Speaker 2: Legion tomorrow, dine in take out just twelve bucks, and
- 38:03Speaker 2: again tonight seven o'clock. We'll see you at the Capitol Theater,
- 38:08Speaker 2: Belgium in the United States taking each other on in
- 38:13Speaker 2: the World Cup. Thanks to Travis Payette from the Iron
- 38:17Speaker 2: Orter Motorcycle Club coming in this morning talking about the
- 38:19Speaker 2: kids bicycle giveaway. Great things in our community, and you know, Travis,
- 38:25Speaker 2: I keep saying and I'm gonna say it again, and
- 38:31Speaker 2: I've been saying it for the last couple of weeks.
- 38:33Speaker 2: There's plenty of drama and bad shit going on everywhere,
- 38:40Speaker 2: but to see something like this, to hear about something
- 38:45Speaker 2: like this that's good for the community, it's good for kids,
- 38:50Speaker 2: it's just nothing but positive. I love that stuff and
- 38:57Speaker 2: we need, frankly, a lot more of it. And I'm
- 39:01Speaker 2: so glad you guys are doing this.
- 39:03Speaker 4: Something uplifting. Yeah, try to push away from the negative
- 39:06Speaker 4: crap that goes on.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Everywhere everywhere, and my god, I mean, I don't know
- 39:11Speaker 2: what it is, man, I don't know if there's something
- 39:13Speaker 2: in the air or what, but there's just maybe it's
- 39:15Speaker 2: the elections coming up, but there's a ton of it.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Everybody's all worked up about something. So I love the
