- 0:00Welcome to military broadcast radio.
- 0:03Every view, every listener and every share helps our mission.
- 0:06Every donation helps keep military broadcast on the air.
- 0:09Every donation makes a difference.
- 0:12Thank you for your support. MV Radio dot US.
- 0:15Good morning and welcome to the show.
- 0:17It's RED Friday. Remember everyone deployed.
- 0:20We hope you wore red today. Thank you for joining us and
- 0:23supporting our troops. We begin on the tracks, rails
- 0:27stretching beyond the horizon, each tie a memory, each rail a
- 0:32promise of where we might go. In the early years, our first
- 0:37logo appeared, a pioneer stepping onto the platform of
- 0:41possibility. Through seasons of growth,
- 0:45change and challenge, we moved forward.
- 0:48The whistle of opportunity sounded and we boarded the train
- 0:52of time. The view changed with every
- 0:56mile, Some stations brief, others lasting.
- 1:00Our logos change too, not just emblems, but mile markers of
- 1:05evolution. Along the way, seats filled with
- 1:08teammates, mentors, veterans and friends.
- 1:12Some stayed for the ride, others stepped off, leaving their
- 1:16legacy on the rails behind us. And still, the journey
- 1:20continues. The tracks ahead stretch into
- 1:23the unknown, familiar yet full of new promise.
- 1:27What matters most is how we travel with purpose, with grit,
- 1:32with heart. Because the journey matters, the
- 1:35movement matters. And the legacy of those logos,
- 1:39every year, every show, lives on in the rhythm of these rails.
- 1:44So here we are once again, all aboard.
- 1:47The whistle blows, the tracks call together.
- 1:51We ride. We are the H train show showing
- 1:55veterans programs beyond the VA since 2015.
- 2:02H is in the building now. Are.
- 4:43Welcome, everybody. It is July 31st, 2026, and
- 4:50ladies and gentlemen, it is Red Friday.
- 4:54We hope you are having a fantastic day.
- 4:58It's finally here. Ladies and gentlemen, you're
- 5:01listening to the Ace Train show right here on the station.
- 5:04That's letting our veterans voices be heard.
- 5:07MBR. And to my left, my guest Co host
- 5:12today is a very she's the she's the eye candy today since Amber
- 5:16couldn't be here ladies and gentlemen, what you know what
- 5:20we're going to call her MJ. Yeah.
- 5:22MJMJ thank you so much for being on here.
- 5:25This is going to be fun. Thank you, Joel.
- 5:28I'm so excited to be here. Thank you for inviting me.
- 5:32Oh yeah. Hey, and you have an event that
- 5:35we're going to have an inspiring veteran come in and talk about.
- 5:41We're all about finding outlets for veterans.
- 5:47Maybe it's not. Maybe DJing isn't their cup of
- 5:49tea. Maybe talk radio isn't their cup
- 5:51of tea. Maybe gaming isn't.
- 5:53Maybe cartoon animation isn't, maybe 3D printing isn't.
- 5:57But we're still giving those options and it's better to come
- 6:02into the studio or learn with MBR rather than, OK, I'm, I'm
- 6:08going to spend a bunch of money to find out if I like this or
- 6:11not. Because how many times have you
- 6:13done something where you spend a bunch of money like like golf,
- 6:17like me, you spend a bunch of money and you just, you suck at
- 6:21it. You know, you suck at it.
- 6:23If you're, if you suck at anything, then you're not going
- 6:27to appreciate it. You're not going to like love
- 6:29it. You know what I mean?
- 6:30You got to really love something that.
- 6:32Absolutely, absolutely. But don't we all suck to begin
- 6:35with? Most of the time we got to keep
- 6:37trying. Exactly.
- 6:38Exactly. Yeah.
- 6:40You know, I was reminiscent about when I first started
- 6:44podcasts in 2015, one of my first guests that I had, which
- 6:49he was he he, he, he was just starting out.
- 6:54Oh, what is his? What is his name?
- 6:56I just talked to him yesterday because he said he was going to
- 7:00come on the show. Rob Libado, OK, he's a, he's a
- 7:06painter, you know, he's painting flags on like VFWS.
- 7:10American. Allegiance and stuff and like
- 7:12he's huge now, you know, he is huge and I, I sent a message to
- 7:17him and I also sent a message to gosh, I, I, you know, I, I can't
- 7:24remember these names, but you know that that's, that's not the
- 7:27point. The point is, is that everybody
- 7:31comes a long way and sometimes, especially when you feel like
- 7:35you're failing or you're discouraged, sometimes you guys
- 7:38take a step back and realize where you came from and where
- 7:42you are now. And then things things move
- 7:45better in perspective. Absolutely.
- 7:48And I think that when Brad comes today, when you meet Brad Gallup
- 7:53and he talks about Warrior Story Field, I think that's going to
- 7:56tie into very much what you're saying because Warrior Story
- 8:01Field is a place for veterans. It's a place for veterans to
- 8:06share their stories. And when I don't want to give
- 8:10too much away too soon because I want Brad to really explain what
- 8:15the founder, Robert Bellows, has created with this organization.
- 8:21And it began for veterans. It actually began just for
- 8:26Robert himself, and then it expanded to veterans, and now
- 8:31it's actually open to not just veterans, but to first
- 8:35responders, to healthcare professionals who experience
- 8:39trauma, to the families of these people.
- 8:42And what they're doing is so unique.
- 8:45There is nothing like this in the rest of the country,
- 8:50probably even the world, right? It's a non clinical approach.
- 8:54I love it. I love, I love the idea.
- 8:56I, I really do. I love going to like, and you
- 8:59had already said, well, we'll talk more about it.
- 9:02You already said that there's going to be music, there's going
- 9:04to be games, there's going to be, you know, different like
- 9:09kind of like booths and stuff. It sounds like a lot of fun.
- 9:13So what we're doing is we're making this a community event.
- 9:17We are bringing the community together and the vision isn't
- 9:21just for it to be in Longmont, Co.
- 9:24We want to make this a destination festival.
- 9:28We want to make this, we want to make the Sanction Sanctuary a
- 9:32destination place for all veterans, for all first
- 9:36responders, for anyone in this country who needs a place, an
- 9:41outlet for their art. So what we're creating here?
- 9:46Well. Go ahead, hold that, hold that
- 9:48thought. OK, What we're going to do, just
- 9:51segment right into it. Ladies and gentlemen, you know,
- 9:56every morning for those who have been with us for a while, every
- 10:01single morning we do what is called mail call.
- 10:06And it's that time, ladies and gentlemen, it is mail call.
- 10:17Attention Mail call. Oh my God, welcome to Mail call.
- 10:22Your Soldier Spotlight Powered by Work symbol highlighting
- 10:25those who serve and inspire. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 10:31today's mail call and I'll, I'll bring this up real quick.
- 10:39Today's mail call comes to us. We shine a light on an
- 10:44organization and people making a real difference in the lives of
- 10:50our veterans. Today we're featuring a
- 10:52nonprofit that reminds us of something many of us already
- 10:55know. Healing doesn't always begin in
- 10:59a doctor's office. Sometimes healing begins with a
- 11:02single step, a single conversation, a single workout,
- 11:05a single person who simply says come with me.
- 11:10That's exactly what Operation Warrior Fit is doing.
- 11:14Recently featured by military.com, Operation Warrior
- 11:18Fit is bringing veterans together through fitness.
- 11:21But this organization is much more than running, lifting
- 11:25weights, or crossing a finish line.
- 11:28Now, their mission is building a community.
- 11:31Kind of like you, kind of like you, right?
- 11:34And their mission, where veterans know that they don't
- 11:37have to fight life's battles along one of the biggest
- 11:40challenges many veterans face after leaving the military.
- 11:45It's not a lack of strength, it's a lack of connection.
- 11:50When we leave active duty, we lose something that many
- 11:54civilians never truly experience.
- 11:56We lose our team. We lose our accountability.
- 12:00For some, we lose our family. You forget sometimes military
- 12:06guys go into the military because we don't have anybody.
- 12:10We lose that feeling that somebody has our 6:00 every
- 12:14single day. For many veterans, that's
- 12:16isolation, and that can slowly become depression, anxiety and
- 12:21hopelessness. Operation Warrior Fed is working
- 12:24to change that. Instead of asking veterans to
- 12:27heal alone, they're creating opportunities for them to train
- 12:30together, encourage one another, and reinstever that sense of
- 12:34belonging that's so many months after the military service.
- 12:39One event highlighted in this article is the OWF 25 Mile.
- 12:49At first glance, it may look like a fitness challenge, but
- 12:52when you look closer, you see veterans carrying the American
- 12:56flag. You see people encouraging one
- 12:58another, you'll see accountability, you'll see
- 13:02friendships forming, and perhaps most importantly, you see
- 13:07purpose. The word purpose is something
- 13:11that we talk about often here at Military Broadcast Radio.
- 13:14Purse purpose gives us a reason to get out of bed, gives us
- 13:19direction, reminds us that our service didn't end when we took
- 13:24off the uniform, it simply changed.
- 13:28Fitness becomes the vehicle. Community becomes the
- 13:31destination. And here at Military Broadcast
- 13:33Radio, that's something that we completely understand.
- 13:36Our mission is different, but our goal that's the same.
- 13:41We believe healing starts when veterans reconnect with other
- 13:45veterans. For us, that might happen
- 13:48through broadcasting, through broadcasting to tell stories,
- 13:53through gaming, or simply by giving someone a microphone and
- 13:57letting them know their voice matters.
- 14:00For Operation Warrior Fit, that healing happens one mile, one
- 14:04workout, one event, one teammate at a time.
- 14:09Different paths, same mission. Health of veterans realizing
- 14:13they still be long. If you're watching this today
- 14:17and you've been feeling disconnected, isolated, maybe
- 14:22you've been spending too much time alone.
- 14:25Maybe you've been carrying more than anyone realizes.
- 14:28Maybe you've been wondering where your tribe went.
- 14:33Organization. Organizations like Operation
- 14:36Warrior Fit, it was proof that your next chapter might be
- 14:39waiting just outside your front door.
- 14:42Sometimes all it takes is showing up.
- 14:44You don't have to be the fastest, you don't have to be
- 14:48the strongest, and sure as hell to be willing to take that first
- 14:53step because no veteran should ever have to fight alone.
- 14:57So today, we like to recognize Operation Warrior Fit for the
- 15:02incredible work that they're doing to build stronger from
- 15:05veteran, stronger communities and stronger friendships through
- 15:09fitness. To everyone involved, thank you.
- 15:13Thank you for reminding us that service doesn't end when the
- 15:17uniform comes off. It continues every time we lift
- 15:20one another up. This has been your Friday
- 15:23spotlight on military broadcast radio, giving veterans a voice
- 15:28because when veterans come together, lives are changed.
- 15:33And you know what, MJ? I'm going to let you.
- 15:35I'm going to let you do the the top news today.
- 15:40OK, so today's top news. The finish line keeps moving.
- 15:46You know, sometimes Congress reminds me of a group of
- 15:49neighbors who all agree your roof needs fixed to be fixed
- 15:53while you're standing in the rain.
- 15:55And this is, and this is kind of like an analogy on the Richard
- 15:59Starr. Act OK, which is.
- 16:01In legislation. All right, well imagine your
- 16:04roof has been leaking for years and every neighbor walks over
- 16:08and says, Yep, that's the problem.
- 16:11Another says you deserve a new roof.
- 16:13Another says we'll definitely help you.
- 16:16And they all agree. But then someone asks who's
- 16:20paying for all the shingles? Suddenly silence.
- 16:25Our neighbor says, I think everyone should chip in.
- 16:28And then another says, no, let's use money from another project.
- 16:33And then a third says, I agree it needs fixed, but not that
- 16:37way. Meanwhile, you're still standing
- 16:39in the rain that it's that's exactly where we are with Major
- 16:44Richard Starr Act. And the good news is that nobody
- 16:48is arguing whether combat injured veterans deserve it
- 16:51anymore. The battle has largely been won.
- 16:54And the disagreement isn't about if these veterans earned the
- 16:58benefit. It's about how Congress pays for
- 17:01it. And think about that for a
- 17:03second. The people who sacrificed their
- 17:06bodies always paid the price. Now Washington is debating how
- 17:12to pay the bill. I mean, come on, Joel.
- 17:15Here's another way to picture it.
- 17:17Imagine you bought a brand new truck and you made the payment,
- 17:21every single one, and you never missed one.
- 17:23And finally the day comes to pick up the truck and the
- 17:26dealership says, congratulations, it's yours.
- 17:31And then they hand you one tire and you ask, where's the rest of
- 17:36my truck, right? And they respond, well, we're
- 17:41still, we're still figuring out how to pay for the engine.
- 17:46Technically, you got something, but you didn't receive what you
- 17:50were promised. And that's how many medically
- 17:53retired veterans feel today. And their military retirement
- 17:59was earned. Their VA disability was earned.
- 18:04Yet because of outdated laws, thousands still have to give up
- 18:08part of one benefit to receive another.
- 18:12And it's like earning 2 paychecks and someone tells you
- 18:15that you only get to cash one. Make that make sense?
- 18:19It doesn't. Now here's what we have some Now
- 18:23here's where we have some encouraging news.
- 18:25The Major Richard Starr Act didn't disappear.
- 18:29In fact, it has now been folded into the broader Take Care of
- 18:34America's Veterans Act. Why does that matter?
- 18:38Because it keeps the issue alive.
- 18:40It keeps the conversation moving.
- 18:42It gives Congress another opportunity to finally get this
- 18:46done. And that's progress.
- 18:48That's real progress. But let's not confuse progress
- 18:53with victory, Joel, right? We're somewhere around the five
- 18:57yard line. The crowd can see the end zone,
- 19:00you know, and the crowd, the players can see the end zone.
- 19:04Everyone knows where the ball needs to go, and we just haven't
- 19:07crossed that goal line yet. And veterans have learned
- 19:11something over the years until the president signs the bill.
- 19:15It's not. Finished.
- 19:16It's not finished now. So today our message is simple.
- 19:22Don't stop calling. Don't stop emailing.
- 19:26Exactly, exactly. You know, and I'm glad that you,
- 19:31that, that you said that MJ, because you know, I get on
- 19:35social media and I hear it. They're in all veterans voices.
- 19:40You know, they're, they're discouraged, you know they're
- 19:43discouraged because you know, they, they, they signed up and
- 19:48they fulfilled their oath, but Congress hasn't exactly
- 19:52fulfilled their oath. But, but when the government
- 19:55shutdowns happens, and keep in mind, government shutdowns
- 19:58didn't happen until after the 1970s, OK, So before that there
- 20:03was no government shutdown. But when government shutdown
- 20:06happened, who gets hurt? We do absolutely.
- 20:10Those congressmen, all those political representatives, they
- 20:18still get paid. So when people ask me, well.
- 20:23What's the deal with the Richard Starr Act?
- 20:25It's not dead. It's not passed.
- 20:30We're just in overtime. We're just in overtime.
- 20:33It's going to be OK. We're going.
- 20:35It's going to happen. It is going to happen.
- 20:38People OK, it's going to happen. But just like when we deployed
- 20:44to Iraq, just like when people deployed to Afghanistan, we have
- 20:50to adapt and we have to have faith.
- 20:54Not hope, but faith. There's one thing that I know in
- 21:00my military career, when those bullets start flying, nobody is
- 21:06an atheist. Nobody.
- 21:09I guarantee you that they can be an atheist before the foxhole,
- 21:13but after an atheist, no more. So keep that in mind.
- 21:19Have faith, don't get discouraged.
- 21:21So that brings us to our first time that we're getting ready to
- 21:27go on our musical break. And before we go, I just wanted
- 21:32to say for everybody that joined in, thank you so much for
- 21:36joining in and listening. We are broadcasting and not only
- 21:40on Roku on the MBR platforms, but DV radio.
- 21:44And now instead of it being Star radio, it's Rebel rock radio.
- 21:50And we just want to just tell them thank you for bottom of our
- 21:55hearts for for allowing us to be on their airwaves.
- 22:00So with that being said, we're going to go on the music break.
- 22:03And when we come back, we're going to hit the WTF moment.
- 22:09And that WTF moment. MJ when's the last time you was
- 22:13on a cruise? 2018. 2018 Well, I wonder if
- 22:18things have changed because somebody got kicked off of a
- 22:21cruise for using a fork for something about their body.
- 22:28When you see it, you're going to be, you're going to be nasty.
- 22:31So a little scared. Whatever you do, whatever you
- 22:35do, stay with us on this Red Friday.
- 22:40You're listening to the ACE Train show, showing programs out
- 22:43there for veterans past, present, and today.
- 22:49You're listening to MBR. The station where our veterans
- 27:57voices are heard. MBR talk.
- 28:01I meant to do that. MBR.
- 28:05It's in the game. Just on the web at NB radio dot.
- 28:13And we're back with MJ, of course, on this Red Friday.
- 28:19Welcome back, everybody. You're listening to the show,
- 28:21the highlights on the nonprofit programs out there beyond the
- 28:24VA. We are for veterans and for all
- 28:28the men and women in uniform all over the world.
- 28:33We're on the station. Let's let our voice veterans
- 28:35voices be heard. We are on MBR.
- 28:39And you know, I, I got to I got a 2 MBRS horn.
- 28:44When you come in as a guest or you come in as a guest Co host,
- 28:51something is given to you. And I'm going to let MJ
- 28:56introduce herself, show her award, tell a little bit about
- 29:02herself before we right into the WTF moment.
- 29:07So go ahead, MJ. OK, well my full name is Melissa
- 29:12and I am a speech language pathologist by trade.
- 29:16That's what I do. And I came here and I got this
- 29:20amazing duck from Joel. It is a 3D duck that he has.
- 29:27Made broadcast beaker. Broadcast beaker.
- 29:30Whack. Whack.
- 29:31So I don't know if you know the story about Broadcast Beaker.
- 29:34But no tell me my. Best friend I lost in Iraq and
- 29:39his his name is Brock Buckland. And then the, and the and the
- 29:42like the intro, it kind of shows that, right.
- 29:46And you know, one thing that he wanted as his dream, he wanted
- 29:51an organization that helped the veterans that didn't specify era
- 29:56or if you went to combat or anything, kind of like Team
- 29:59Superfy. But Team Superfy is more for,
- 30:01you know, Marines. Marines, Yeah.
- 30:03We wanted something that would help all veterans, connecting
- 30:07all veterans, something that was dedicated to a veteran and not
- 30:12so much the checkbook. Right.
- 30:14A lot of business. Absolutely.
- 30:17Yeah. So I created a cartoon and
- 30:20Beeker was Brock's nickname. Oh this is so special.
- 30:26Yes. So that is Brock Buckler.
- 30:28Oh, I love this. Thank you, Joel.
- 30:30That makes it even more special. What a beautiful story.
- 30:33Thank you for sharing that and I'm so sorry for your loss.
- 30:36You know, I, I tell you what, it, it's, it's been hard and
- 30:41it's even harder during like Memorial Day and stuff like
- 30:44that. But you know, I think Brock
- 30:47would be happy where we're at today.
- 30:49I think that he's very proud of you.
- 30:51I think that he would be more than happy and very proud.
- 30:55And this is such a beautiful keepsake.
- 30:57Thank you so much. You're.
- 30:59Most. Welcome and thanks to Brock for
- 31:01sacrificing. He gave the ultimate sacrifice
- 31:04for our freedoms. He gave his life.
- 31:06So thank you. You're welcome.
- 31:09You're welcome. Thank you for being here.
- 31:11This is fun. This is fun.
- 31:13Hey, everybody, it is that time. Everybody loves this one.
- 31:16It is the what? The moment.
- 31:28We can't say the F part. Well, we probably could, but you
- 31:33know, we don't mind to. Well, I try to explain to people
- 31:36that, you know, when you're doing radio, even though you see
- 31:39people like has to disembark someone exactly.
- 31:42When you see F word, think about it.
- 31:46You're you're like at Denny's, OK.
- 31:49And it's all right. If you're talking to somebody,
- 31:51you know F this and F that, because in the military every
- 31:54other word is the F word. Well, it's a word exemplifier.
- 31:57When you when you you're in like Denny's and there's like a
- 32:01person that's not in the conversation, the F word it.
- 32:05Bothers them. It does.
- 32:06It does. Yeah, it bothers them.
- 32:08Because they're not in the conversation.
- 32:11If they were in the conversation, it'd be different,
- 32:13but since they're not in the conversation, it, it bothers
- 32:18them. So with that being said, that's
- 32:21the reason why we really don't use the F word here.
- 32:24Everybody that's watching TikTok, Rhonda Mendoza, thank
- 32:28you so much for coming in. We really appreciate it.
- 32:31Thank you so much, Cassie, for coming in.
- 32:34We really appreciate it. We're on fire today and today's
- 32:37What the Well, let's get it started, shall we?
- 32:42A woman was asked to disembark early after using cutlery to
- 32:45scratch her feet in a cruise ship restaurant.
- 32:48She first scratched the soles of her feet with her hands, then
- 32:51even picked up a cutlery fork and used it to scratch them.
- 32:54And the staff nearby did not stop her, allowing her to
- 32:57continue eating. This isn't just a simple matter
- 33:00of personal habit, as the cutlery on this cruise ship is
- 33:03for other passengers. After she used the fork to
- 33:06scratch her feet and then put it back, who knows if the next pass
- 33:10would pick it up and use it directly.
- 33:12After the video went viral, many people called Carnival to report
- 33:16her and demand punishment, but there has been no official
- 33:19response so far. According to circulating rumors,
- 33:22this woman may ultimately be asked to end her cruise early
- 33:26and disembark because of this behavior.
- 33:28How should cruise lines handle passengers who engage in such
- 33:32behavior in public restaurants, which clearly effects hygiene
- 33:36and the experience of other passengers?
- 33:38Do you think this behavior should result in immediate
- 33:41disembarkation? So.
- 33:45All right. Wow.
- 33:47So what do you think about that then, Jay?
- 33:50That's interesting. I've never heard of such a thing
- 33:53before. And I've seen some things
- 33:55working in hospitals. Yeah.
- 33:57So a fork to scratch her feet. You know, they have they have
- 34:01back scratchers on like Amazon for like 2 bucks and you know
- 34:05now when I go to a cruise, I think I'm going to do the monk
- 34:08thing. Remember that show the monk
- 34:10where he has his own like silverware?
- 34:12I. Do yes, yes, I.
- 34:15Have to go to that everybody. I think this is a rare.
- 34:17I think this is rare, you know, and.
- 34:19Actually, I'll be honest with you, I don't think this is rare,
- 34:24in fact. What in fact?
- 34:26Let's talk about this. OK, let's talk about it because
- 34:29I've never so. When you're in a hotel, they
- 34:33give you plenty of towels, right?
- 34:35Okay, well tell me that you've never washed your car and used
- 34:40those hotels and like dry it off.
- 34:42If people knew what people did with those towels, there's a
- 34:47good chance people would bring their own.
- 34:49Towel, they're sanitized though. They have, they have, they have.
- 34:53It's. Just like tackler bills.
- 34:55Yeah, it's dollar bills. But hey, if those dollar bills
- 34:58are wrinkled, you know where those have been on Friday and
- 35:00Saturday. Night.
- 35:01Those dollar bills are disgusting.
- 35:03More so than a towel. OK.
- 35:06That's why most and I'm from New Orleans, so I know about dollar
- 35:09bills. Most restaurants have a call.
- 35:12I'm talking. About though, yeah, I sometimes
- 35:16I think that we as humans do things and when we see other
- 35:23people do the same thing we've that we've done before, we don't
- 35:28realize that we've done it. Like it's like that song on
- 35:31TikTok. Hey, I might be a piece of crap,
- 35:33but you might be a piece of crap too.
- 35:35Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, I know that one.
- 35:37I think sometimes, like we get mad at people, but we're doing
- 35:42the same thing that we got mad at them for.
- 35:47Oh, I think that happens quite a bit.
- 35:49Yeah. I think it's really hard for us
- 35:51to look at ourselves and look within.
- 35:54And most often people to avoid looking at themselves, will pick
- 35:59apart the other person. I totally agree.
- 36:01I totally agree. Like, for instance, so I went
- 36:05and this is my daughter, this, this last Price weekend.
- 36:10And her little girl, my granddaughter.
- 36:12Yeah, she, she, she did something I was very
- 36:15disappointed with, you know, and I never yell and I hardly ever
- 36:21yell ever. And I and I and I kind of just
- 36:24put her in the corner. You know and do.
- 36:27You want to be done like that, you know, kind of.
- 36:29And then, you know, five hours later, my daughter does the same
- 36:34thing. I looked at my daughter and I'm
- 36:35like, you know, I just yelled at your daughter for doing the same
- 36:39thing. And I didn't sit there and yell
- 36:41at her. I didn't sit there and be mad.
- 36:44I, I, I went outside for, you know, a little bit of a break.
- 36:49You know, right, Right. To take some breath.
- 36:51Yeah, yeah, yeah. Take some breath.
- 36:53Back and I told her I'm like, you know what, I love you, but
- 36:58I'm disappointed in what I saw. You know, and sometimes we just,
- 37:03we just don't think we don't. I will tell you right now that I
- 37:08used to get so upset until I don't know.
- 37:11I, you know, I, I heard this person talking about like this
- 37:14quote or whatever, but it's, it's easy not to get mad at
- 37:18somebody when you try to put yourself in their shoes.
- 37:23Oh, absolutely. I mean, I, I try to always put
- 37:26myself in somebody else's position.
- 37:29You know, I have this motto working in hospital, so I work
- 37:32with brain injuries. I see some pretty significant
- 37:36things that work with people when it's the worst parts of
- 37:39their lives. And that can be a little bit
- 37:42daunting for us as healthcare workers when we're dealing with
- 37:45the public. So I have this little thing that
- 37:48I always do when somebody's really annoying me.
- 37:52I think I look at their face and I think that's God in drag.
- 37:59OK, so then I, I keep looking at them.
- 38:01It's God and drag. It's God and drag.
- 38:03And that keeps me in check. So that because everybody's made
- 38:07with a little piece of God, in my opinion, I believe in God.
- 38:10I do too. I do too, God.
- 38:12And I tell you man, I, I, I've. Seen too many things.
- 38:16I believe I, you know, I am a Christian, but I tell you I
- 38:20don't sit there and I don't sit there and judge people.
- 38:23What my grandfather always used to tell me is, you know, if you
- 38:27want to be a true Christian, show it in your life and watch
- 38:31the reflection be the sermon. Don't don't sermon people, be
- 38:35the reflection. Show people what he's done for
- 38:39you, do for others. And you know, I, I will bless
- 38:44you. So that's exactly my motto and
- 38:47I, I feel very strong about that, very strongly.
- 38:50Same. So do I that that's the way that
- 38:52I live as well. We have to.
- 38:55This world is so hard. It really is.
- 38:58It's not easy. And people, I feel like
- 39:01especially in America, we are, we're built to be so tough.
- 39:08For me, where I come from, there's a lot of influence from
- 39:12the GI generation, the silent generation, the GI generation,
- 39:16which in my opinion are two of the greatest generations besides
- 39:20Gen. X, mine and yours.
- 39:23But, you know, they were raised with values and this ideal that
- 39:30is pretty impossible for most people to achieve and that still
- 39:34trickles into our society today. And we're expected to be so
- 39:38strong. It's kind of like how you
- 39:39touched on Warrior One, Warrior Fit and what we're doing at
- 39:45Warrior Story Field. You know, we need each other.
- 39:49Life is too hard. It's OK to talk about your
- 39:52problems. It's OK to feel different.
- 39:55It's OK. It's OK.
- 39:57You know we need each other. We do.
- 39:59We do, you know, and people that say, oh, you know, I don't care
- 40:03what they think. Yeah, you do.
- 40:05Because if you don't care what they thought, you wouldn't have
- 40:09said I don't care what they thought.
- 40:12We just have to be honest with ourselves.
- 40:14Well, it depends, though. You know, I like to go by Dolly
- 40:17Parton's. You know, Dolly Parton, what she
- 40:19says about that. It's OK if you don't like me, as
- 40:21long as you get to know me and then you don't like me, OK?
- 40:28That's good right there. But if you don't care to get to
- 40:30know me, then who cares what you think, right?
- 40:34And that's true. That's true.
- 40:36Very true. In fact, you know somebody that
- 40:39that that that takes us into the segue over drop the date.
- 40:43Somebody that was loved by a lot of people.
- 40:47Well, the gangsters didn't love them, did they?
- 40:49Ladies and gentlemen, is that time it is drop the date?
- 40:54I love gangsters. Today in history.
- 41:08All right, everybody, today's drop.
- 41:10The date. Is for oh what happened to the
- 41:14screen? Hold on, hold on.
- 41:17I think I did that. Drop the dates.
- 41:20There's like 31st 1975. Today is the disappearance of
- 41:25Jimmy Hoffa. Yeah.
- 41:27Welcome back to Another Drop the Date, where we take a look at an
- 41:30event that happened on this Day in History and why people are
- 41:34still talking about today. On July 31st, 1975, one of the
- 41:38most America's greatest unsolved mysteries began, which I think
- 41:43they solved this not too long ago.
- 41:45Did they OK, OK, we're going to have to talk about that.
- 41:48Former Teamster Union president Jimmy Hoffa.
- 41:52He vanished after leaving for what was supposed to be a
- 41:55routine meeting at a restaurant in Bloomfield Township, MI Hoffa
- 42:00told his family he was meeting two men to discuss business, but
- 42:04when they never showed up, he was left waiting in the parking
- 42:09lot. Later that afternoon, he simply
- 42:12just disappeared. His car was eventually found in
- 42:15the restaurant parking lot, but Jimmy Hoffa was nowhere to be
- 42:19found. There were no confirmed
- 42:21sightings, no ransom demands, no clear evidence explaining what
- 42:28happened to him. Despite decades of
- 42:30investigations by local police, the FBI, and countless
- 42:34journalists, no one has been able to prove exactly how or why
- 42:41he disappeared. Jimmy Hoffa wasn't just another
- 42:44businessman. He was one of the most powerful
- 42:47labor leaders in America, serving as president of the
- 42:51International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
- 42:54During his leadership, he fought for better wages, stronger
- 42:58benefits and improved working conditions for millions of
- 43:02workers across the country. He would probably be turning in
- 43:05his grave today. At the same time, his career was
- 43:09surrounded by controversy because of alleged ties to
- 43:13organized crime, making him one of the most recognizable and
- 43:18controversial figures of this generation.
- 43:21Over the years, Hoffa's disappearance has inspired
- 43:24hundreds of theories. People have claimed he was
- 43:26buried beneath the football stadium, hidden under highways,
- 43:31placed inside abandoned buildings or secretly moved to
- 43:35remote farm lands. They they, they forget, you
- 43:38know, swimming. With the fishes.
- 43:40Oh yeah, and that's with the fishes.
- 43:42Have dug up properties, searching fields and followed
- 43:47countless leads, but none have produced a conclusive evidence.
- 43:53Every few years, a new tip surfaces, making headlines all
- 43:57over again, only to leave investigators with more
- 44:00questions than answers. What makes the story so
- 44:03fascinating is that even after more than 50 years, it continues
- 44:09to capture the public's imagination.
- 44:12It's been featured in documentaries, books, movies,
- 44:16television specials and podcasts.
- 44:19Go figure. The name?
- 44:23Jimmy Hoffa has became almost, almost.
- 44:31I can't pronounce that word. Synonymous.
- 44:34There we go with an unsolved mystery, proving that sometimes
- 44:39history leaves behind more questions than answers.
- 44:44Whether you believe that mystery will ever be solved or not, one
- 44:50thing is certain. July 31st, 1975 became of the
- 44:54day of America's most famous disappearances entering the
- 44:59history books. And that's exactly why we're
- 45:01remembering it today. Not because we know how the
- 45:04story ended, but because we still don't.
- 45:08And that is your drop the date for today.
- 45:12It's pretty cool, you know, I tell you, like I remember asking
- 45:18my mother and my father all the time.
- 45:22Who is he? Is she?
- 45:23You know, they kept talking. Oh, he's Teamster.
- 45:25Like, like I knew exactly what that was.
- 45:28There's certain things like when I was you little, I found this
- 45:33out this weekend when I had my granddaughter.
- 45:37I went to turn on cartoons. Right.
- 45:39Who doesn't remember Gumby? I love Gumby.
- 45:44I watch Gumby. Yes.
- 45:45Saturday Night Live. Eddie Murphy.
- 45:48Right, so I turned Gumby on and you know, it's it's a it's a
- 45:52free chain on Tubby or, or blue TV, you know, and I'm watching
- 45:57it and I looked at my wife and I'm like, I don't understand why
- 46:03I like this as a kid, this bright.
- 46:06It's terrible, you know, Can you imagine?
- 46:09It's it's like, it's like, oh, you know, we.
- 46:13Didn't know anything else that's what we had exactly, you know,
- 46:17and it's OK. We grew up in a great time.
- 46:20We. Did we?
- 46:21Did we? Did we?
- 46:22Were less technologically advanced, but we had bring me
- 46:26back to Atari and a tube TV. OK Joel.
- 46:29Yeah, life is good. Hey, life is so good.
- 46:32In fact, you know, I remember and I tell the story.
- 46:36I don't know if I told the story on air before, but I, I told the
- 46:40story to my wife one time that when, when I was, when I was
- 46:45younger, I, I couldn't get a job, you know, and my dad told
- 46:51me, well, you know, I, you know, I, I went to these places and I
- 46:55told him I'd give them 50% of business.
- 46:57And I'm like, I understand that, that, but you know, it's just
- 47:01not happening. So my first job, well my first
- 47:05job was like the tassel. You don't need a resume for
- 47:07that, just the tassel. But then my second job I worked
- 47:12at Hardee's. OK, OK.
- 47:14And the reason why I worked at Hardee's, because my dad's not
- 47:17well, bring me the application and we're going to go through
- 47:20it. And I'm like, OK, so I filled it
- 47:22out. He looked at me and he's like,
- 47:24you've got to be shitting me. And I'm like what he's like.
- 47:29H. Why do you have it that you can
- 47:33work from 3:00 to 4:00, but you can't work from 5:00 to 6:00?
- 47:36You can work from 7:00 to 8:00, blah blah blah.
- 47:39You know, like little. Right.
- 47:42Well, because Full House comes on at.
- 47:45Stop it. Yes, that's exactly right.
- 47:50I big business. Man, I, you know, that's the
- 47:54reason why I, that's the reason why I quit wrestling, because I,
- 47:58I was tired of missing my Saturday night, my Saturday
- 48:02morning cartoons. Ohk OK I mean I crushed on John
- 48:06Stamos but I didn't crush that hard that I would.
- 48:09Miss Oh my God person person is Candace and it keeps drewberry
- 48:16more sorry my wife already. Done.
- 48:18That's OK. Marky.
- 48:19Mark is mine. OK?
- 48:20Mark Wahlberg is my all time from the Funky Bunch.
- 48:23OK, Feel it. Feel it.
- 48:24Feel the vibration. Feel.
- 48:26The. Vibration come on.
- 48:27And now I pray with him on hallow.
- 48:29OK, now we we say the rosary together.
- 48:33But you know, it's, it's crazy because like everything that I
- 48:37did young, I'm seeing my daughter do it so.
- 48:40I right? I don't.
- 48:41I don't get too mad. You.
- 48:43Know just don't scratch your feet with the forks and
- 48:45everything will be OK, all right?
- 48:48Teach her proper utensil maintenance and usage and
- 48:51everything will be fine, right? Yeah, yeah.
- 48:57And you know one thing I learned, it doesn't matter how
- 49:00old you are, even even kids like 21 or whatever, like they're
- 49:06still going to push that boundary if.
- 49:08You I push boundaries at almost 52.
- 49:12What are you talking about? Yeah, So, you know, and but I
- 49:16told my daughter I'm like, look, you know the one thing that I
- 49:18want to teach you in life, that you're going to learn.
- 49:20You're going to learn the hard way.
- 49:22Nobody cares what you do or what you say to care about how you
- 49:28react. Your character is what will move
- 49:32you in this world, Correct, not what you do.
- 49:34Correct, not what you say. How you make people feel.
- 49:37Exactly that's what they remember and you know, I, I
- 49:39remember when I went to church camp, I had this business card
- 49:42that I, I was so attracted to this counselor, but that's a
- 49:46different story. But she.
- 49:47Gave me that's a yeah and we're talking about church camp too
- 49:51Joel OK that band camp church camp calm down she.
- 49:54Gave me this business card that says, you know, if if you meet
- 49:59me and you forget me, you've lost nothing.
- 50:01But if you beat Christ and you forget him, you've lost
- 50:05everything. And that's exactly the same
- 50:08thing, exactly the same thing. But but you know, with, with,
- 50:13with that being said, HG, did you do you know, did you know
- 50:20who Jimmy Hoffa was before today?
- 50:23I had heard the name, but I didn't know what he had done.
- 50:25So you had heard the name? You didn't know what he had
- 50:28done? I heard that he was buried in
- 50:31some kind of parking lot. I see man, I thought that was
- 50:34the last. Thing I forget who it was, but
- 50:36there's like a like a gazebo out by a pump out by a pool.
- 50:42In fact, you know, you could use the the Brock HG, I think they
- 50:48found his remains. I think it was under a gazebo, a
- 50:51pool, but I forget whose name is I'll have HG.
- 50:55Like look that up with real quick with the yeah, we call, we
- 50:59call our ChatGPT the Brock. So.
- 51:02The Brock. I like it.
- 51:03I like it, yeah. So I love gangsters and I love
- 51:07that period of time. And that was some of my favorite
- 51:10movie genres growing up in the late 80s and early 90s.
- 51:15We had some of the best gangster movies like Casino So Sad of
- 51:20Bella. That's where I learned my
- 51:22history is watching. Movies.
- 51:23Is that so? It really is.
- 51:25So in New Orleans there's actually quite a little mafia
- 51:29scene. So I grew up and there was
- 51:33chitter chatter all around about whose family was in the Mafia
- 51:38and whatnot. I can't name names, but you
- 51:41know, New Orleans has a little bit of CD now.
- 51:45Yeah, Yeah, we do. Shout out beautiful.
- 51:47Caveman, because he's in New Orleans right now.
- 51:49Beautiful culture. Beautiful culture of New
- 51:52Orleans. Captain.
- 51:53Caveman Captain. Caveman blah blah blah blah blah
- 51:57blah. Well, hey everybody, it is that
- 51:59time. We're going to go on our next
- 52:02music break. And when we come back from the
- 52:04music break, it is that top of the hour where everybody is
- 52:09waiting. We're going to be having Brad
- 52:12Gillip. That's how you.
- 52:14Brad Gallup, Yeah, Brad Gallup's coming.
- 52:16He's going to talk about Warrior Story Field and our festival
- 52:19that we're going to have in October.
- 52:22Awesome little. Little update.
- 52:24So those seem like Jimmy Hoffa's remains were never found.
- 52:28OK, never found. OK OK.
- 52:31And itchy. What year were you born, if you
- 52:33don't mind? 199919. 99 The legend is fading.
- 52:38OK. All right.
- 52:39When I dance, I get sometimes followed on TikTok.
- 52:43Hey, we're going to go on a music break and when we come
- 52:46back off that music break, we're going to have Brad Geller coming
- 52:51on talking about this. So whatever you do, stay with
- 52:54us. Don't get away.

- 1:04:18All right, ladies and gentlemen. So, Brad?
- 1:04:20Comes to us and I and the reason why I say Brad and I don't say
- 1:04:26your whole name is because I've butchered your last name worse
- 1:04:29than Swedish chef like the last four times so but Brad you know
- 1:04:34you're you you're a veteran yourself and I think what you're
- 1:04:38doing is an amazing event MJ over here has been telling me
- 1:04:43all about it and like I'm excited for it but I I want the
- 1:04:47viewers and listeners to find out about it as well as what
- 1:04:52inspired you to even do this I mean you know we're retired we
- 1:04:56can sit it on the couch with a boxer shorts and and watch
- 1:05:00Netflix you know if we don't steal people's passwords tell me
- 1:05:03what inspired you to do this I mean I think the.
- 1:05:07Thing that really kind of started when I came back from
- 1:05:10Desert Shield, Desert Storm in 91 and I was really, I didn't
- 1:05:15think I was suffering and suck. But about 5 months after I came
- 1:05:20back from my deployment, I found myself one Sunday afternoon with
- 1:05:27my wife and my daughter, 3 year old daughter gone with the my 12
- 1:05:30gauge shotgun and with the stock on the floor in the barrel right
- 1:05:34up against my chin. And my hand reached down the
- 1:05:36trigger. And I hadn't realized that how
- 1:05:40much of this pain of it kind of channelling me down, down, down,
- 1:05:43slowly but surely, the receipts, the receipts.
- 1:05:46They just kill. They keep building up.
- 1:05:48They keep building up, Yeah. And so.
- 1:05:51Basically, luckily I came out of it and I did what I told my
- 1:05:54folks not to do. I went downtown on my own dime,
- 1:05:56on my own time. Didn't tell them because anyone
- 1:05:58lose my top secret clearance. So because at that time I was an
- 1:06:02aircraft maintenance officer and I had about 500 people working
- 1:06:05for me and I ran a Squadron F Fifteens at Langley.
- 1:06:08So anyway, that started my journey almost 35 years ago and
- 1:06:13continued to be on that journey and doing many different things,
- 1:06:17including becoming a grief facilitator, working with the
- 1:06:20organization called TAPS out of Washington, DC.
- 1:06:24I helped start up the Good Griefs program there with the
- 1:06:27children's program in 97. I became an equine guided coach
- 1:06:31in 2000, working with horses and I've been doing that ever since.
- 1:06:36And I'm also a transformative coach and I did that in 2017.
- 1:06:40But during all that time I was living here in Boulder, IN after
- 1:06:46I retired in 2003 and I was working with this gentleman
- 1:06:49named Robert Bellows, who's a good, really good friend of mine
- 1:06:52and he's an artist. And I was really going through a
- 1:06:57tough time again. I was going through a divorce.
- 1:06:58It was difficult. And I was working with Robert
- 1:07:02and he got commissioned to build this rooster, a 10 foot tall
- 1:07:04rooster for outside a we used to call Alfalfa's in Boulder.
- 1:07:10It was a natural food market. Anyway, he asked me, he just
- 1:07:15showed up. I told me to come over to the
- 1:07:16shop, and I did. And so he just put some, gave me
- 1:07:19some gloves. He said let's go to work.
- 1:07:21And he was building the structure of this rooster.
- 1:07:23And I've never considered myself being artist.
- 1:07:25I was considered myself as a mechanic in the Marine Corps for
- 1:07:28those four years and then the 17 years in their Air Force as an
- 1:07:31aircraft maintenance officer. So here all of a sudden he's
- 1:07:34just I'm welding starting, he's teaching me how to Weld and I'm
- 1:07:37putting things together. We're building on this rooster,
- 1:07:3910 foot tall rooster, which ended up weighing 4000 lbs and
- 1:07:43was called Alfie outside of Alfalfa as while I was there.
- 1:07:46And all of a sudden when it was over, we just said look at each
- 1:07:49other and said what do we do next?
- 1:07:51And I said we got to do something for warriors and 1st
- 1:07:53responders, but system for warriors.
- 1:07:55So we worked on it, trying to figure out what archetypally,
- 1:07:59what could we design and make it out of metal.
- 1:08:01And we came up with the idea of a dragon to represent the
- 1:08:05warrior at war being on that military platform out there.
- 1:08:09And that makes sense, yeah. And.
- 1:08:12And. Then we said, OK, what's the
- 1:08:14what's the, what's it mean to come home from war?
- 1:08:16What is what do we need to be able to integrate and transform
- 1:08:20ourselves to come back because we're changed.
- 1:08:23Even if see active do go over and see war.
- 1:08:28I mean, in combat, all of us go through the initiation.
- 1:08:31So we're changed And and so we did what does that look like?
- 1:08:36And so we played around with it, come up with all kinds of
- 1:08:39images. And then we came with the idea
- 1:08:41of a phoenix to represent that transformation out of the flames
- 1:08:45of the dragon still holding the good parts of the dragon inside.
- 1:08:49But how do we come back to be of service and define our purpose
- 1:08:53now? Right, right.
- 1:08:55You know, and a lot. Of like military guys, you know,
- 1:08:58one thing that you can tell about military guys, because
- 1:09:01we'd never lose that talent is we eat fast.
- 1:09:06We eat fast. We, and, and that, that, that
- 1:09:09that doesn't go away, that I know exactly what you, you mean.
- 1:09:13And I just recently, like, I, I probably like five years ago,
- 1:09:18learned about the Phoenix and what it, it, it's about.
- 1:09:23So this the event that you're coordinated.
- 1:09:27The reason why I like it so much is because here, here at
- 1:09:30military broadcast radio, you know, it's, it's not so much the
- 1:09:34shows like we have DJ and we have talk radio gaming animation
- 1:09:40that we teach you how to use animation with like AI and 3D
- 1:09:44printing, OK. It's not about those programs.
- 1:09:49It's about finding that outlet that works for that veteran.
- 1:09:53You know, one thing that I do love in the last 10 years, like
- 1:09:58horses has became an outlet. Bees have became an outlet.
- 1:10:04You know, there, there's certain there, there's just, there's so
- 1:10:09many nonprofits out there that have introduced outlets for
- 1:10:14veterans. And I was telling MJ earlier,
- 1:10:17like, for example, golf, OK, Now, if I'm a regular Joe like I
- 1:10:22am, I never did golf until after I got out of the military
- 1:10:27because, you know, I'm from Indiana and, you know, you don't
- 1:10:30exactly golf and ski. You know, it's I used to think
- 1:10:34skiing was a bunch of rich people going up and down a hill
- 1:10:38bragging about how much money they had.
- 1:10:40I didn't know that it would change my life.
- 1:10:42And other veterans are finding that out, too.
- 1:10:45And once you find that outlet, you find that purpose and this
- 1:10:49event that you have, I look at it kind of like the MBR thing.
- 1:10:53You're going to have a bunch of outlets, a bunch of booths, a
- 1:10:57bunch of creative art things that are going to be introduced
- 1:11:03to the military and the communities.
- 1:11:05And I just think that's amazing. It's a really good idea, Brad.
- 1:11:09Oh, well, thank you. I appreciate that.
- 1:11:11I mean. You know that we started that
- 1:11:15idea with the model building the models of the dragon in the
- 1:11:18Phoenix back in 2012. And that took about a year and a
- 1:11:22half of me, the dragon out of clay.
- 1:11:24We didn't have no idea what we're doing.
- 1:11:25And then we built the Phoenix, which is 4 foot tall, the model
- 1:11:28out of metal. And then we just said we got to
- 1:11:31make it, take it outside and see what we can do.
- 1:11:34And so Robert asked me, how big do we want to have it?
- 1:11:37It's 10 foot tall. If we built the the rooster, do
- 1:11:39we want to be that tall? And I said, no, it needs to be
- 1:11:41twice that tall. It needs to be so much stature
- 1:11:45and so much presence that can represent truly what warriors,
- 1:11:51how much pain and how much suffering we carry inside of us
- 1:11:54as being a service to this great nation and also seeing that we
- 1:12:00it's something. That you could step into.
- 1:12:02The space in between them. And when you do step into that
- 1:12:06space, you feel the power of those two already talking to
- 1:12:09each other and that energy of those creations.
- 1:12:11So, you know, 15 years later, thousands of thousands of people
- 1:12:16have been out there, thousands, hundreds and hundreds of people
- 1:12:18have worked on them. Thousands and thousands of hours
- 1:12:21we put into it. And now we've got these two
- 1:12:23creatures that are 20 feet tall, weighing 20,000 lbs, which is 10
- 1:12:28tons. Because we just didn't, we just
- 1:12:30didn't build a frame and put metal over it.
- 1:12:32We built the muscles, the tendons, we built everything out
- 1:12:35of it. And this was where warriors and
- 1:12:37civilians came together and taught each other how to be
- 1:12:40artists. And there's nothing in the
- 1:12:42country like that, right? My my my.
- 1:12:45I'll, I'll let you go ahead of the jail.
- 1:12:47Sorry. No, Well, no, I was going to
- 1:12:49say, so that's what. Makes this so special.
- 1:12:51So that's what the catalyst for me to help this organization to
- 1:12:58produce this event, that this story right here was the
- 1:13:02catalyst because there is nothing like this.
- 1:13:06It's a non clinical approach, not just for veterans, but now
- 1:13:10it's open to 1st responders, it's open to healthcare workers,
- 1:13:15their families. And again, I can't say it
- 1:13:19enough, there is nothing like this in the country.
- 1:13:22And I have had the privilege of visiting the sanctuary.
- 1:13:26And when Brad is talking about the the phoenix, the dragon,
- 1:13:31they are these massive creations and the insides, they actually
- 1:13:35have the insides, they have a rib cage, they have the pieces
- 1:13:40and the parts inside of these actual structures.
- 1:13:44And So what we want to do with this festival, it's going to be
- 1:13:47we have a tentative date at Wibby Brewing October 10th and
- 1:13:52we're going to have about 5 bands lined up for the day.
- 1:13:56We are asking for vendors, we are asking for sponsors.
- 1:14:01We are going to have a levelled sponsorships and this is going
- 1:14:05to help take Warriors Story Field to the next level.
- 1:14:10We need to move these structures on to their new property.
- 1:14:14They just received a really beautiful grant that helped them
- 1:14:19purchase new property. Donation too.
- 1:14:23Yeah, the donation strictly. Donation A.
- 1:14:25Grant, yeah, strict donation. So this is all donation based.
- 1:14:29We're still owing 12 for donation.
- 1:14:31Well. Well, what we're doing here.
- 1:14:33So I have a three-year vision. This is not going to be just one
- 1:14:37year. We want to bring this on to the
- 1:14:38property eventually, and the organization was already
- 1:14:43planning a gala event because they're doing a documentary.
- 1:14:47And so this all ties into the vision that I have.
- 1:14:51Next spring, I'm hoping that we have a premiere for a
- 1:14:54documentary and a gala to follow this event.
- 1:14:57So this is not going to be just one thing.
- 1:15:01This is going to grow. And we're also spotlighting the
- 1:15:04Jumbi Orchestra of Colorado, which is also another nonprofit
- 1:15:09organization. So it's both of these
- 1:15:12organizations that we are highlighting for this event.
- 1:15:17And we want to take both of these organizations to the next
- 1:15:21level next year, the following year.
- 1:15:24And we already have a headliner. It's our first year and we
- 1:15:27already have a headlining act, World Class Drummer Manas I
- 1:15:32Team, who has worked with Mickey Hart from the Grateful Dead.
- 1:15:37He's worked with Arrested Development.
- 1:15:40Many people in Colorado have already seen him play at Red
- 1:15:45Rocks. OK, So he is a a very good
- 1:15:50friend of mine and he will be the second to last performer and
- 1:15:55then Jim B Orchestra is going to close it out.
- 1:15:58So what we're looking for, we're going to be asking for major
- 1:16:01sponsorships. So the community, people in the
- 1:16:05community, the benefactors of the community, we need you.
- 1:16:08We need the big banks, we need the big businesses.
- 1:16:11We need sponsors to help us to do this.
- 1:16:15Without you, we cannot Brad, I'd love you to tell the people how
- 1:16:21much this has helped others and and before you tell us, I.
- 1:16:25I have one last question. Sure.
- 1:16:28What is the significance of you, You said when you was talking
- 1:16:33about building the dragon and there's hey, is this taller?
- 1:16:36You're like, no, it needs to be double the size.
- 1:16:39What's the significance of why it needed to be taller?
- 1:16:44You know, I think there's something about.
- 1:16:46Instinctively when you're working with these kind of look
- 1:16:50at these two creatures, the archetypals, the archetypes live
- 1:16:53inside us. You know, the part of us that
- 1:16:55wants to be of service, the the war, the warrior to go to war,
- 1:16:59but also that helps us get things done.
- 1:17:01That other part of it, the Phoenix, being able to see that
- 1:17:06you can transform your life and be in service in the new way and
- 1:17:09find a new purpose when you come back, what we all want to be
- 1:17:11able to do. So it's just about this, the
- 1:17:15hugeness of that. It instinctively evokes
- 1:17:18something in this we don't even know we can put language to.
- 1:17:22And that's what the power of art is.
- 1:17:24It connects us to the possibility, especially what
- 1:17:27makes this so powerful. It's communal art.
- 1:17:30It's not just a civilian artist teaching a warrior to become an
- 1:17:33artist one-on-one and he goes off and do this art, which is
- 1:17:36wonderful. But this is where civilians and
- 1:17:39warriors, women, men, children, grandparents of all been part
- 1:17:43and community have been created. That it's kept a lot of us alive
- 1:17:48and even change transformed our lives.
- 1:17:50And so we've been able to integrate these parts of us that
- 1:17:52are kind of in the shadow that we don't want to talk about that
- 1:17:55We say I'm not, it's in, I'm not going to talk about this.
- 1:17:59And to be able to see that the presence, just the presence
- 1:18:02evokes it. And when we move these things
- 1:18:05under the property, we're looking to maybe do it by the
- 1:18:07end of the year, early next year, we're going to create an,
- 1:18:11an actual pavilion out there on the property.
- 1:18:14We've got 40 acres out there with a beautiful house,
- 1:18:17outbuildings. It's it's a beautiful piece of
- 1:18:19property. It's beautiful outside.
- 1:18:21Of Longmont and and. We're going to build a pavilion
- 1:18:25and put these two, build it right into the hill, dig out the
- 1:18:28hill, put them right in the hill and with a 40 foot kiva, which
- 1:18:33actually means you step down more into the earth and these
- 1:18:35sculptures will sit at your shoulder and you're looking at
- 1:18:38the Front Range. Our neighbors of Blue Cloud
- 1:18:40Farms, they got sixty horses, so you're looking at horses out
- 1:18:43there. It's an incredible place.
- 1:18:46It's beautiful and we're going to do one day experiences.
- 1:18:49Working with. That space in between there and
- 1:18:51then also doing equine because Blue Cloud Farms, they got all
- 1:18:54those horses, they're going to help.
- 1:18:55They already want awesome. And I'm going to train equine
- 1:18:59coach along with my really good friend Michelle K was the same
- 1:19:02thing. And we're going to build an
- 1:19:04arena out there and put two round pens in there and do that
- 1:19:07work as a one day and eventually a three day experience from
- 1:19:11people. People will.
- 1:19:12Come around the country this. Will be a point.
- 1:19:15This will become a national level experience and what we're
- 1:19:19doing and that's what I want this festival.
- 1:19:22To begin to plant this seed, that's how sturgeon started
- 1:19:26that's. How Sturgis started really.
- 1:19:28Yeah, Sturgis started with just I, I think it was like it was
- 1:19:32actually two or three guys that got together and.
- 1:19:35And what? North Dakota, right?
- 1:19:39Yeah, North Dakota. It was 3 people and they just
- 1:19:43they would drag race and when they start drag racing they
- 1:19:47brought in motorcycles and that is what Sturgis does today.
- 1:19:52It it literally it started with three guys just getting together
- 1:19:57once they came back from the service.
- 1:19:59Well, this kind of started with. That special drummer that I was
- 1:20:03talking about Manas I teen telling the Jumbie Orchestra
- 1:20:08that they were so excellent that they needed to be on television.
- 1:20:12And so then I started asking questions and then I heard about
- 1:20:16Warrior Story Fields. And so here we are today.
- 1:20:21And that's how this came about. It was just a simple
- 1:20:24conversation at Webby Brewing. In fact, because I was helping
- 1:20:28support that event. And we are so fortunate because
- 1:20:31Robin and Ryan Webby of Webby Brewing in Longmont, they're
- 1:20:36working with us and they're going to help us to use their
- 1:20:39property the entire day to get this off the ground and running
- 1:20:44because we want this to be on the Warrior Story Field property
- 1:20:49next year. So I encourage everyone right
- 1:20:52now, right now, type it in, go to warriorstoryfield.org, check
- 1:20:58it out, look through the website.
- 1:21:01You're going to see a little button that says donate.
- 1:21:04I highly encourage you to donate today.
- 1:21:06Start donating to help us get this festival up and running.
- 1:21:11Like, you know what we me and my?
- 1:21:13Wife and granddaughter almost went to Longmont this weekend
- 1:21:18because they had this and it might be the same place you're
- 1:21:21talking about. They had this horseback ride for
- 1:21:24$5. It was like a non profit that
- 1:21:26they were just doing for the weekend.
- 1:21:28And but it was just so hot. So so we wasn't able to make it.
- 1:21:32But you know, you talk about beautiful places.
- 1:21:34There's not many places in Colorado that's not beautiful.
- 1:21:39Colorado is beautiful in and of itself.
- 1:21:42But the piece of property that they just purchased is it's
- 1:21:47beyond gorgeous. I mean, Robert's property where
- 1:21:50he lives is very beautiful too. But this, this sanctuary is
- 1:21:56just, it's literally that a sanctuary.
- 1:21:59It's peaceful, it's beautiful, it's gorgeous.
- 1:22:03And so more people need to know about Warrior Story Field, more
- 1:22:07people need to be able to get out there.
- 1:22:10It's been a blessing to me, I have to say, meeting Robert,
- 1:22:14meeting Brad, meeting all of these people, it's been quite a
- 1:22:17blessing because you know, as civilians, we also have our own
- 1:22:20battlefields. Yes, yes.
- 1:22:23And you know, and I and I. So this, this last week and I,
- 1:22:27so we, we've been for the last couple of months, we've been
- 1:22:31kind of fundraise to keep MBR on the air.
- 1:22:34And, and we're doing, we're doing better now.
- 1:22:37But there was this person that is a friend of mine, you know,
- 1:22:40his friend also told me when I was like selling shirts a long
- 1:22:44time ago. I'll just wait until you start
- 1:22:46giving them out for free. And I'm like, OK, well, they
- 1:22:49cost money. Thanks for your support.
- 1:22:52But he comes to me and he's like, you know why?
- 1:22:58Is podcasting so. Important.
- 1:23:01Yeah. I'm like, it's just it's
- 1:23:02podcasting. It's it's it's nothing.
- 1:23:05And I looked at it and I'm like, you know, every single day I go
- 1:23:09on social media and I always see people doing those, Hey, you
- 1:23:13know, copy and paste, you know, if, if, if you care about
- 1:23:17veterans, you know, there's a veteran that's, you know,
- 1:23:20hurting inside, you know, all, all this different stuff.
- 1:23:23And yet, you know, here's a nonprofit that we're, we're not,
- 1:23:28we're not offering a service. We're offering a connection.
- 1:23:34Exactly. We're offering exactly.
- 1:23:36We're offering. The connection we're offering a
- 1:23:39way that veterans can connect and you know, MBR is kind of
- 1:23:43like a virtual MWR because we don't have that, you know, being
- 1:23:48out, you know, we have all these outlets, but you know, a lot of
- 1:23:51people, they asked me why is this so important?
- 1:23:55And it's almost like, okay, would you share it on Facebook?
- 1:23:59Are you sharing it because you want to share it, or are you
- 1:24:03sharing it because you honestly want to prevent it?
- 1:24:09This is a preventive moment. This is a preventive event,
- 1:24:15yeah. This is an event.
- 1:24:17That. Can introduce.
- 1:24:18Other veterans and other first responders to things that they
- 1:24:23might not know. I mean, if you told me that I
- 1:24:26was going to run or be any kind of like radio in high school, I
- 1:24:31would have told you that you was on crack, you know, because I
- 1:24:34never had that. Dream I never.
- 1:24:36Had that dream. If you would have told me, I'd
- 1:24:38be in Colorado 5. Years ago, OK, living in
- 1:24:42Colorado and I'd be here, I would have said you're
- 1:24:46absolutely nuts because I packed six boxes and two plants and I
- 1:24:50got the hell out of Dodge, buddy.
- 1:24:53OK. And we do what we have to do.
- 1:24:56And so we we end up in places. And that's why I believe that
- 1:25:00souls travel in circles from one life to another.
- 1:25:04I have different spiritual beliefs.
- 1:25:06I believe Jesus is my homeboy. You can believe in anything that
- 1:25:09you want. But you know, I always have used
- 1:25:13my personal difficulties to help other people.
- 1:25:17And this is actually I I'm desperately trying to segue out
- 1:25:22of healthcare and education and do other things but still help.
- 1:25:26It's. Understandable because of
- 1:25:27stories. They help veterans, they help
- 1:25:30people kind of learn the pathway through their own strength.
- 1:25:35This is non clinical. It's absolutely.
- 1:25:37Non clinical and Brad. Brad is actually I hope he
- 1:25:42doesn't mind me saying this because I've heard this about
- 1:25:45him. Brad is actually the first
- 1:25:47success story besides Robert. Robert and Brad are the two Co
- 1:25:51founders and they are the 2 success stories of the beginning
- 1:25:54origins. Because they might not be here.
- 1:25:57If it wasn't for Warrior story field they might not be here.
- 1:26:00I know that to be true, and you know and it.
- 1:26:03Might like I talked about my journey then you know when we
- 1:26:05got that started, I ended up getting offered a job with an
- 1:26:09organization called Save a warrior.
- 1:26:11I don't know if you've heard of Save a Warrior.
- 1:26:12They're out of Ohio. They started on Malibu and I got
- 1:26:15hired to do E Quan for them back in 2018.
- 1:26:18I wanted to, it was an incredible experience to watch
- 1:26:21what they do because they had a five day experience that was, it
- 1:26:25is and still is the premier suicide prevention program in
- 1:26:28the country in my mind. And so I got off to work with
- 1:26:32them and then they ended up moving to Ohio and it got an
- 1:26:35incredible piece of property. And then they ended up building
- 1:26:37a $3.5 million National Center for Excellence for complex BTS,
- 1:26:42and I ended. Up.
- 1:26:44Taking about 2000 men and women through that experience over the
- 1:26:47last eight years in which we because of COVID, we had to
- 1:26:50shrink it down. We had at least lose leave the
- 1:26:52horse work and the high ropes, which was part of it.
- 1:26:55But the thing that we really discovered in that.
- 1:26:58And I just wanted to share with you that we want to also at some
- 1:27:01point with the art at the story field and maybe 27 or 28 is to
- 1:27:06know that for me, I thought the things that was suffering was
- 1:27:09what what happened with me in the military and and which was
- 1:27:13true part of it. But the other part that I hadn't
- 1:27:15known about was that I had some real childhood trauma that I
- 1:27:21really had not ever spoken to anybody about.
- 1:27:24And they had discovered that save a warrior, that the
- 1:27:28childhood trauma is underneath the moral injury.
- 1:27:31What happens to us in in the military or adult life.
- 1:27:35It's the basis, the foundation of everything.
- 1:27:37For us is our childhood trauma and that, and then we started
- 1:27:41giving them something. Called Aces Adverse Childhood
- 1:27:43Experience Survey, which came out in 94 from the CDC and
- 1:27:47Kaiser Permanente. And we discovered very quickly
- 1:27:50that if we had 18 people going through the experience, the
- 1:27:55average ACES score was a 7 out of 10 markers.
- 1:27:58If you're at 5, you're at 50% more than have to take your life
- 1:28:02with suicide than you are at 4:00.
- 1:28:03And it continues to go up exponentials and potentially
- 1:28:07from there. And the average ACES was A7 for
- 1:28:10men. The women was an 8.
- 1:28:13And the average Aces score for a felon in the United States
- 1:28:15Penitentiary is a 7 out of 10. So for me, I know that I wanted
- 1:28:21to get out of my house so, so bad that I was, I signed up a
- 1:28:24year early to join the Marine Corps when I was 17 in Vietnam
- 1:28:27was still going on back in that day.
- 1:28:30And I wasn't worried about Vietnam.
- 1:28:32I just wanted to be a Marine. And I wanted to get out of my
- 1:28:34household just because there was so much struggle.
- 1:28:36Oldest of seven. And we're very, very poor.
- 1:28:39My mom and dad were doing the best he could, but it was tough.
- 1:28:42And I till I got sat in that seat at Save a Warrior in 2018
- 1:28:45and saw the real thing underneath the thing.
- 1:28:48It changed everything for me. And like I said, I spent almost
- 1:28:52eight years working with that incredible organization and it
- 1:28:55changed my life. And we're going to do some of
- 1:28:57that work with the art absolutely at there in 520. 7 or
- 1:29:0128. Once we get up to a three day
- 1:29:03experience and we're going to make a difference from people's
- 1:29:06lives, from warriors, first responders, and also you already
- 1:29:09have trauma, you already have made a difference and you'll
- 1:29:12continue. Making a difference.
- 1:29:13Thank you. You have made a difference.
- 1:29:15And that's what we're doing. We're celebrating the arts and
- 1:29:18healing. This is a community event
- 1:29:21celebrating arts and healing that's benefiting Warrior Story
- 1:29:25Field and Shenby Orchestra. It's an amazing, amazing
- 1:29:29organization. It sounds it and I'm getting
- 1:29:31excited. You know, and you know, just
- 1:29:33touching off, you know how you told me that, you know, your
- 1:29:35family was like porn and stuff, Like my family was poor.
- 1:29:38There were people griping and, and when I was in like basic,
- 1:29:42you know, griping about like the food and stuff and like I
- 1:29:45thought it was luxury because I got my first omelet.
- 1:29:48You know, I'm like shit, you know.
- 1:29:50Well, I think it goes back to we touched on this before.
- 1:29:53Brad came back how I was talking about the silent generation and
- 1:29:56the GI generation. And again, I will say it because
- 1:29:59my daddy, these are my people, two of the most beautiful
- 1:30:02generations in the world, OK, especially that GI generation
- 1:30:06sacrifice so much for us. But those are the people who are
- 1:30:09raising us. Those are the people who went
- 1:30:12through the depression. Those are the people who went
- 1:30:14through things that we cannot imagine as Americans because we
- 1:30:18haven't experienced those things.
- 1:30:20So we grew up with these ideologies and these
- 1:30:23expectations that were beyond anything that we can do as human
- 1:30:27beings. Well, hey, you know, we're we're
- 1:30:30running. Out of time because we got our
- 1:30:32next segment of the Tribute to Troops.
- 1:30:34But before we go, it is that time.
- 1:30:38It is your time to shine. I might not have set you up for
- 1:30:50that right question. Maybe there's something a little
- 1:30:52bit more that you want to get off your chest.
- 1:30:54This is your two-minute platform to say whatever, do whatever you
- 1:31:00want to. It's your time to chime.
- 1:31:04Well, thank you. I appreciate it #1 to thank you.
- 1:31:06For offering me to have me on the show.
- 1:31:07And of course, thank you to Melissa for setting it up and
- 1:31:10becoming this kind of North Star for us to really get the word
- 1:31:13out because we had to, we kind of had to put it into wraps for
- 1:31:1615 years because it was a Robert's backyard.
- 1:31:19And you know, and if we had people still showing up, riding,
- 1:31:22buying their bikes and coming by and saying, hey, can we come in
- 1:31:24and 15 riders will come in. And So what?
- 1:31:28So we're now we're trying to get the word out.
- 1:31:29So I really appreciate that support.
- 1:31:32You know, I think the biggest thing is that I've learned over
- 1:31:36this last 30 years my own journey and becoming, you know,
- 1:31:40a person of service and being able to facilitate
- 1:31:43transformation, integration for people is that we're so much
- 1:31:47more alike than we are different.
- 1:31:50And you know, it's this thing about we get separated and
- 1:31:54whatever you want to call it, what's going on in the country.
- 1:31:56But I think there's some things that we really pull together.
- 1:32:00And I think that's the two things that Brené Brown says are
- 1:32:03most powerful. What we're really hard wired for
- 1:32:05is struggle and connection. Yeah, it's true.
- 1:32:08And so you. Know, I think where we can.
- 1:32:11Come back and realize that we're all life is life's a full
- 1:32:14contact sport sometimes and and it's a struggle.
- 1:32:17We all struggle and we also struggle with distinct multi
- 1:32:21generational trauma. Absolutely.
- 1:32:22That's been handed down. Generation to.
- 1:32:25Generation 7 years back at least and it's just unknowingly we
- 1:32:30take it as little ones out of love and they unfortunately give
- 1:32:34it with love because they were doing the best they could.
- 1:32:36But they're thinking too, especially with all that
- 1:32:38development happens as little ones, little boys and little
- 1:32:40girls. So you know, I just want to be
- 1:32:43able to, I think the story field and what we're trying to do can
- 1:32:46be offer along with great organization like Sabre Warrior
- 1:32:49and Boulder Crest and that are out there really doing a really
- 1:32:54powerful thing working with complex PTS.
- 1:32:56But I think this ability to use art and being able to know that
- 1:33:01all of us are artists, it's all buried inside.
- 1:33:04It's just covered up some thinking, some beliefs and some
- 1:33:07and whatever. And so, you know, I think what
- 1:33:10we need is community and art and finding a way to integrate.
- 1:33:13And so that's it. Well, you know, when I was in
- 1:33:15high school, my art. Teacher, he had two sayings.
- 1:33:18One was, you know, pretty, hey, clean up city, let's make it
- 1:33:21pretty. But the other one, he had the
- 1:33:24sign on his door and I really believe in it.
- 1:33:28And it says in life, you succeed whatever your art desires, you
- 1:33:35know? So I appreciate you coming in,
- 1:33:38Brad. I really do Thank you.
- 1:33:41Hey. You got.
- 1:33:42MBR support me and MJ is going to be working that you know so
- 1:33:47much you know just just just use me as a vessel there.
- 1:33:51There's a reason why a guy connected me with you so same
- 1:33:55but let's let's let's let's let's continue this journey
- 1:33:58together. We're going to have a tent out
- 1:34:00there on there. We're going to.
- 1:34:01Have the radio set up out there. Oh really?
- 1:34:04Set up? A radio set up?
- 1:34:06Most definitely. And we'll have TV and.
- 1:34:08Everything. Hey, everybody, I would love to
- 1:34:11keep on talking, but you know, we we have to do the tribute to
- 1:34:15troops. So now whatever you do, when we
- 1:34:18come back, we're going to go to tribute to the truth.
- 1:34:21And when we come back, we'll be hitting the final thoughts.
- 1:34:24But before the final thoughts, since Amber's not here, we're
- 1:34:28not doing back to cap. We're going to get in the sports
- 1:34:32update from HG when we come back because he didn't have a show
- 1:34:37Wednesday. And there's a lot of sports that
- 1:34:40happen. So if you're a sports fan, stay
- 1:34:42with us. Don't go away.
- 1:34:44You're listening to show the highlights, all the nonprofit
- 1:34:45programs out there. Yay.
- 1:34:48You're listening to the ACE trade show right here on the
- 1:34:49station that's letting our veterans voiceless be heard.
- 1:34:53NPR, stay with us. Detail attention first call the
- 1:35:05service members name is. Called out loud in the context
- 1:35:08of a unit, this is meant to ensure all are present and
- 1:35:11accounted for. Second call.
- 1:35:14The name is called out again louder to confirm that the
- 1:35:17service member is indeed absent. Third call.
- 1:35:21The name is called out for a final time.
- 1:35:23Followed by a statement indicating that the service
- 1:35:26member is not present and accounted for, signifying their
- 1:35:29death. The final roll call serves as a
- 1:35:32symbolic gesture to respect and remember their service.
- 1:35:41Sir Adam. Well, you got the joke.
- 1:35:45You. Tell the people would be you
- 1:35:48tell them how much troopers died.

- 1:43:23never happens. Whenever things get rough or it
- 1:43:26feels like you're at the edge, remember this.
- 1:43:30Storms pass. Tough times.
- 1:43:33Don't last but. Tough people do.
- 1:43:43All right, ladies chef. We are back.
- 1:43:46Once again, if you didn't know, we're on this Red Friday, July
- 1:43:5031st here on the H Train show where our only mission here is
- 1:43:55the show. Our men and women in uniform all
- 1:43:58over the world and they remember programs outside beyond the VA.
- 1:44:02My name's a train and my guest Co house is MJ.
- 1:44:05And man has this show went fast. Man, has it went fast.
- 1:44:11It did. It was fast.
- 1:44:12Yes. And you.
- 1:44:13You. Know I don't know if.
- 1:44:15You've had radio experience before, but I think you've
- 1:44:20knocked it out of the ballpark today.
- 1:44:21Well, thank you. I've never been on the radio.
- 1:44:24Before, I have done some interviews and things like that
- 1:44:29for other fundraising events on television, but no, thank you.
- 1:44:33I appreciate it. It was fine.
- 1:44:35I've had fun. I love it.
- 1:44:36Yeah. Lots of fun, you know, And hey,
- 1:44:39what we'll find. Out next week if you want to
- 1:44:41come back or if you don't want to come back I can come back
- 1:44:43next Friday and go host with yeah it's.
- 1:44:45Totally up to you and. You know, I, I think, I think
- 1:44:49what you and Brad are doing is is amazing.
- 1:44:53And I even, I even talked to Brad might even have a segment
- 1:44:58on here that is kind of like sponsored by kind of let people
- 1:45:02know, hey, you know, this is going on because you guys are
- 1:45:06doing exactly what I'm trying to do with MBR.
- 1:45:08So next Friday I have an appointment.
- 1:45:11Yeah. Already.
- 1:45:12But I can come back the following Friday Yeah, I just
- 1:45:15thought of it because next Friday would be the 7th I
- 1:45:17believe, right? Yeah, the next day is my 52nd
- 1:45:20birthday and that's that's totally OK our.
- 1:45:24You know, next, next, next Friday, we'll we will be having
- 1:45:29the butterfly pavilion Stop. I'm missing the butterfly.
- 1:45:35Butterfly. Oh my goodness, that's my.
- 1:45:37Favorite. I have a butterfly from Warrior
- 1:45:40Storyfield, A welded butterfly. I saw it and Robert gave it to
- 1:45:45me because that reminds me of my grandmother.
- 1:45:49Look at that. That's an Angel sign we were
- 1:45:51just talking about. So but before.
- 1:45:55We go into our next segment, which usually is factor cap.
- 1:46:00But instead of us going through that, what we're gonna do is
- 1:46:04we're just gonna kind of retract stupid light lighting your
- 1:46:12shoes. I'm sorry.
- 1:46:13It's it's OK. You're.
- 1:46:16Good man. I.
- 1:46:17Totally get it. If they're just listening and
- 1:46:19not watching, they. Don't know, but you know.
- 1:46:23I got a little carried away with the analogy with the Richard
- 1:46:26Starr Act and I forgot because HG didn't have a sports thing
- 1:46:33Wednesday. I made him, you know, draw up a
- 1:46:36sports segment thing for, you know, 5 minutes.
- 1:46:40So HG, we're going to hear about it.
- 1:46:42We're going to do the IT is that time.
- 1:46:44It is till the final time out HG edition.
- 1:46:50All right, Yeah, let's get into. It So I got the breakdown for
- 1:46:54you what's going on across different sports things.
- 1:46:57We'll start in the WNBA. There was a little wager made
- 1:47:02between Angel Reese and Page Becker's during a practice
- 1:47:06before the All Star game of regarding one of their upcoming
- 1:47:10matchups post All Star Break. Basically, it was just a cash
- 1:47:14wager between the two players. Whoever won got $400.00.
- 1:47:18The league didn't find out about that.
- 1:47:20There won't be any disciplinary action though for other players,
- 1:47:24seeing as it wasn't done through any gambling service or sports
- 1:47:28book like that, just a verbal contract.
- 1:47:31But they did get a very stern warning about it.
- 1:47:35And then the other news in that league, Asia Wilson is just
- 1:47:38running away with the MVP race at -400 odds, averaging 2610 and
- 1:47:45three with four stocks a game. Second year player Paige
- 1:47:49Becker's and rookie Olivia Miles in second and third place
- 1:47:52respectively at +800 and plus 900 odds.
- 1:47:56But Asia would have to have a tremendous drop in production
- 1:47:59for anybody to catch her at this point looking like she's going
- 1:48:03to secure her fifth MVP in MLB. News The.
- 1:48:08Mets have begun selling. They've just traded reliever AJ
- 1:48:14Minter to the Twins. So this will probably be one of
- 1:48:16the first moves of many that the Mets make before the deadline.
- 1:48:20Spent a lot of money on that roster and they are just at the
- 1:48:25bottom of their respective division, really struggling to
- 1:48:28win game. So it's time to sell and blow up
- 1:48:31the team and try to rebuild from there.
- 1:48:34The Atlanta Braves have emerged as the favorites to land Tyreek
- 1:48:38Skubal, the highly sought after pitcher.
- 1:48:42Detroit Tigers season not really going the way they thought.
- 1:48:44So the ace pitcher is a very highly sought after commodity.
- 1:48:51The Braves A-Team looking to stay ahead of a a surging
- 1:48:55Phillies team in their respective division.
- 1:48:58The AL East has a very intense 3 team race heating up between the
- 1:49:03Tampa Bay Rays, New York Yankees and Boston's Red Sox.
- 1:49:07Keep an eye on that one. That could really go anyway as
- 1:49:10we come down the final stretch of the season and we have the
- 1:49:13Chicago Cubs picking up steam, putting a lot of pressure on the
- 1:49:18Milwaukee Brewers, flipping over to the NBA.
- 1:49:21We're in the offseason, but we have a lot of news to cover.
- 1:49:26This is what I'm sure everybody's heard of, but LeBron
- 1:49:28James joining the Philadelphia 76ers for I thought he was going
- 1:49:31to join the Nuggets. Damn OK will it likely be his
- 1:49:34final hurrah on the 2? Year $8 million deal.
- 1:49:38For the first time in five years, the NBA will not host any
- 1:49:41NBA preseason games in the Middle East due to the ongoing
- 1:49:45war with Iran and other conflicts in the region.
- 1:49:49The Kawhi Leonard saga and drama with the aspirations and the
- 1:49:54Clippers circumventing the salary cap continues.
- 1:49:57Pablo Torre dropping more bombshell information.
- 1:50:01Kawhi was secretly an investor with AUSL team, the Rhode Island
- 1:50:07Football Club as well. Go check out Pablo finds out.
- 1:50:12Fantastic podcast if you want to do more.
- 1:50:15The best investigative sports journalist out there, but the
- 1:50:19inquiry and NBA investigation of this is likely going to drag
- 1:50:23into 2027 for some more local Sports News.
- 1:50:27The Denver Nuggets have matched the Oklahoma City Thunder's
- 1:50:30offer on restricted free agent Spencer Jones, but that does
- 1:50:34make them the only team in the league to enter the second
- 1:50:38apron. Making things difficult as they
- 1:50:40try to get another contract worked out with their young star
- 1:50:42player Peyton Watson, who they have offered a 70 million dollar
- 1:50:47contract too. But now the door seems more open
- 1:50:51for Watson to be picked up by another team and they sign and
- 1:50:55trade deal and then with the NFL season just.
- 1:50:59About a month away. We've got some news from
- 1:51:01training camp that's gotten under way.
- 1:51:03The 49ers did resign Debo Samuel.
- 1:51:07He's returning to San Francisco on the one year deal.
- 1:51:11Small nugget of good news, I guess, of I made a laundry list
- 1:51:15of injuries that have already started to pile up for the
- 1:51:1749ers, including their head coach who got a concussion when
- 1:51:21he was in a car accident. And they're going to a rough
- 1:51:24time because if. I'm not mistaken like the one of
- 1:51:26the coaches, Kyle Shanahan, the head coach.
- 1:51:29Well, no one. Of the coaches, his his.
- 1:51:32Son shot his that's that was chief offensive coordinator.
- 1:51:36His son. Did.
- 1:51:39Shot his wife and he had to leave training camp to go
- 1:51:43senior. Yes, that was another very.
- 1:51:45That's how horrible. Yeah, it is a story.
- 1:51:48A lot of there's. Still an.
- 1:51:49Investigation going on why he did that but it might have been
- 1:51:52a mental health crisis for uncertain.
- 1:51:56The Carolina Panthers also another team having the rough
- 1:51:58training camp. They just lost second year
- 1:52:03linebacker and rookie wide receiver.
- 1:52:06The last second year linebacker Nick Scorton and rookie wide
- 1:52:09receiver Chris Brazil have both suffered season ending knee
- 1:52:14injuries. So tough, tough day to be a
- 1:52:17Panthers fan and their division rival.
- 1:52:21The New Orleans Saints just signed their star receiver Chris
- 1:52:24Olave to a new four year $132 million extension.
- 1:52:31I got some Bronco train camp updates, the waddle to Nick's
- 1:52:36connection looking very good. Pat Bryant second year wide
- 1:52:40receiver showing out Jonathan Cooper is practicing despite his
- 1:52:44ongoing invest the investigation.
- 1:52:47But that that's both a good sign that with all his legal issues
- 1:52:53and Sean Payton says that this the expectation in the building
- 1:52:57is championship and that is what the team's training for.
- 1:53:01And one little final bit of news.
- 1:53:02CBS analyst and former NFL quarterback Tony Romo placed on
- 1:53:07leave following his DUI arrest in Wisconsin.
- 1:53:10Yeah, I saw that. I saw that, he told.
- 1:53:13The police officers going to. Grandma and grandpa's house, and
- 1:53:17everybody's like Grandma and grandpa's houses.
- 1:53:20Grandma and grandpa's dead. I'm like, have you never lied to
- 1:53:23the police before? Come on, man.
- 1:53:25What he? Said, Did I pass the test?
- 1:53:28Oh. I guess I didn't.
- 1:53:32I loved it. He did not do bad.
- 1:53:35And I got to say a shout out to my Saints and Sean Payton
- 1:53:38because, you know, I'm from New Orleans.
- 1:53:40Who died, baby. Go Sean.
- 1:53:42He's going to bring us to a Super Bowl.
- 1:53:45Oh, man. All right, everybody, it is
- 1:53:47that. Time it is the final thoughts.
- 1:53:58At project demo. Our mission is simple.

- 1:54:04peace and freedom that only a ride can give.

- 1:54:09Generate donations. On the acquisition of the bikes,
- 1:54:12while direct donations make up the ride, we seek to.

- 1:54:17Vets. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 1:54:21is that time it? Is what did you guys learn

- 1:54:29Oh well, I had no idea that today.
- 1:54:32Was the day almost 51 years ago that Jimmy Hoffa went missing?
- 1:54:37Yes. That was pretty crazy to learn.
- 1:54:41Yeah. And HG.
- 1:54:43I learned today HG. Didn't know who Jimmy Hoffa was.

- 1:55:11was alive during our time. Hey, she was.
- 1:55:15You learn today. Well, just a follow up on what
- 1:55:18she said. You want to know what will

- 1:55:31What? Wow, what?
- 1:55:32The first Star Wars. Movie released.
- 1:55:34Before what year was that? 1970 What?
- 1:55:38177878. And like a year later, the last
- 1:55:42person executed by guillotine in France.
- 1:55:44Wow, that's interesting. Wow.
- 1:55:47What an interesting. Correlation.
- 1:55:49To to take a guillotine and Yoda and put them together.
