- 0:00Speaker 1: Unbelievable. Well, let's just hi, how are you Adam Lefgo,
- 0:03Speaker 1: Curtis Granders, and Jimmy Rollins and Pedro Martinez When I
- 0:07Speaker 1: tell you that we witnessed the performance that we haven't
- 0:10Speaker 1: seen since nineteen fifty six, I'm talking Don Larson. Blake
- 0:14Speaker 1: Snell went up there and faced twenty four batters in
- 0:18Speaker 1: eight innings, the minimum that you can face. He had
- 0:21Speaker 1: ten strike accounts. He pitched eight innings, which he had
- 0:24Speaker 1: never done before. This is an all time performance. His
- 0:27Speaker 1: teammates are bowing to him in the dugout as we
- 0:31Speaker 1: are here in left field. We were watching Brewers fans
- 0:34Speaker 1: leave this stadium, and then the rally Caps came out
- 0:36Speaker 1: with this performance. Let's get this, And then to the
- 0:39Speaker 1: ninth inning, Pedro, this was unbelievable.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Well, he bites theater in the regular game, in the
- 0:45Speaker 2: regular season, I'm being fretted. But to be able to
- 0:49Speaker 2: see it in the pulp season, I mean, it's just
- 0:53Speaker 2: something that you.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Cannot even have claim.
- 0:55Speaker 2: But if anybody's the gate pull will have thrown something
- 0:57Speaker 2: like that.
- 0:58Speaker 1: It's a guy like Blake Snail.
- 1:00Speaker 2: A guy that can block the nois a guy that
- 1:02Speaker 2: has the best stuff out there for leftie, especially in
- 1:07Speaker 2: the form me is right now, he's in his thirteenth
- 1:11Speaker 2: outing for the entire season. He's fresh, he's good, and
- 1:16Speaker 2: he's lethal for anybody.
- 1:18Speaker 1: That last stat we put up nine or more strikeouts
- 1:21Speaker 1: two or less hits. The only other guys to do
- 1:23Speaker 1: it multiple times Roger Clemens, Josh Beckett, Garrett Cole, they
- 1:26Speaker 1: did it twice. He has now done it five times.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Jimmy Blake Snell was unconscious. He really is.
- 1:32Speaker 3: And remember we've seen him on a big stage, and
- 1:34Speaker 3: let's not forget he grew up in the Al East,
- 1:36Speaker 3: so he's pitched one big.
- 1:38Speaker 4: Markets against some of the best players.
- 1:39Speaker 3: But remember in the World Series, we were asking ourselves,
- 1:42Speaker 3: why would you take Blake Snell out in that situation
- 1:44Speaker 3: when the Dodgers were not putting up any runs, any
- 1:47Speaker 3: solid hits. That is continued. He's back on this stage
- 1:50Speaker 3: where he lives to be. In this page said he's
- 1:52Speaker 3: in his prime. He didn't pitch all season long, so
- 1:54Speaker 3: we started to hit that stretch of where every pitcher
- 1:56Speaker 3: goes through the stretch where they're just unbelievable. He's doing
- 1:59Speaker 3: it on the biggest days at the best time, at
- 2:01Speaker 3: the biggest time, when when his team names the most.
- 2:04Speaker 3: But this is historic. We talked about it, how Methan's
- 2:07Speaker 3: ever stray. He sets up to pit battles with the
- 2:08Speaker 3: pitches in, then he goes away. Once you get to
- 2:11Speaker 3: a swing mode, you're done.
- 2:12Speaker 5: You know what.
- 2:13Speaker 6: Look at him walking off right here. We talked about
- 2:16Speaker 6: Freddy being exhausted. He didn't look like he broke a sweat.
- 2:19Speaker 6: He didn't look like he was breathing hard. It looked
- 2:21Speaker 6: like it was a normal game for him. That was
- 2:23Speaker 6: the most impressive thing for me out there.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Scouting report, remember you gave it pregame. He's not as
- 2:28Speaker 1: great on the road as he is at home. He
- 2:29Speaker 1: went into Philly, he comes here to Milwaukee. Those two games,
- 2:33Speaker 1: fourteen innings, nineteen strikeouts, two hits.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Who said he wasn't good on the road.
- 2:39Speaker 1: The scouting report his EER was two or three points higher.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Was in crazy. Let's get to the play that we've
- 2:45Speaker 1: never seen before and may never see again. A four
- 2:48Speaker 1: hundred and four foot ground into double play. We were
- 2:52Speaker 1: sitting back there, We're trying to figure out what's going on, Jimmy,
- 2:56Speaker 1: what happened?
- 2:57Speaker 4: What chaos? I mean, extreme chaos.
- 3:00Speaker 3: But when the set happened and gards everything happened, Tioscar
- 3:05Speaker 3: has one job, tag up and score, regardless the umpires.
- 3:09Speaker 3: They come in and play for the runners on first
- 3:11Speaker 3: a second because they have to decide who we advanced
- 3:13Speaker 3: or we go back and tag is it a live ball,
- 3:16Speaker 3: But as a run on third you have one job
- 3:18Speaker 3: that is a tag up and score. And as soon
- 3:20Speaker 3: as that ball hits the outfielder's glove, even if it
- 3:22Speaker 3: pops out, that's gonna see it at the start of
- 3:24Speaker 3: that catch. So for him to go and really he's
- 3:27Speaker 3: watching the play. Once you see that ball hits his glove,
- 3:31Speaker 3: it doesn't matter what happens.
- 3:31Speaker 1: You're supposed to score.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Everybody else you let them, you know, figure it out,
- 3:36Speaker 3: but you have to get that one run. You secure
- 3:38Speaker 3: one run. And he didn't do that. We've never seen
- 3:40Speaker 3: it before. It was definitely confusing to see it hit
- 3:42Speaker 3: his glove, hit off the wall, but the umpire was
- 3:44Speaker 3: right on it. He was given a safe sign immediately
- 3:47Speaker 3: and Tiascar just got caught, you know, watching the play,
- 3:49Speaker 3: and that's something you can't do the time of year.
- 3:50Speaker 6: And what's interesting there the umpire did make the correct call.
- 3:53Speaker 6: But keep in mind in the postseason, you normally don't
- 3:55Speaker 6: have an umpire in the left field side of things.
- 3:58Speaker 6: It's usually only four umpires in a regular season game.
- 4:01Speaker 6: For the postseason, you got six. So once this ball
- 4:03Speaker 6: goes to the outfield and the center field does an
- 4:05Speaker 6: amazing job trying to bring it back in. As soon
- 4:08Speaker 6: as it hits off this glove, like Jimmy said, you
- 4:10Speaker 6: can tag in advance. Once it hits the wall, now
- 4:12Speaker 6: it's a hit. And that's where everyone got slightly confused.
- 4:16Speaker 6: And typically the umpire that would be making that call
- 4:18Speaker 6: would be one of the infield umpires. Essentially, you might
- 4:21Speaker 6: be amazing on out there, but since there's two extra umpires,
- 4:24Speaker 6: especially the one out in left field, which you're gonna
- 4:26Speaker 6: possibly see here, that's what makes it challenge right there.
- 4:29Speaker 1: But to your point, Jimmy, if he once you.
- 4:31Speaker 6: Tag, you just gotta go, just go, even if it's
- 4:33Speaker 6: caught or even if it's bobbled. As soon as it's touched,
- 4:35Speaker 6: it's either a hit or it's a sacrifice fly. And
- 4:38Speaker 6: you got to keep going and check the umpire out
- 4:40Speaker 6: Right here, John's in a great positions, and Jimmy, you
- 4:43Speaker 6: pointed this out. If you're the runner on second, or
- 4:45Speaker 6: even the runner from first to second, you don't see
- 4:48Speaker 6: that umpire, so you don't know exactly what the call is.
- 4:51Speaker 1: So for them, I give them a little bit of
- 4:53Speaker 1: grace there.
- 4:53Speaker 4: They didn't know.
- 4:54Speaker 6: They had never seen this play happen. They thought it
- 4:56Speaker 6: was a catch because he ended up with the ball
- 4:58Speaker 6: in his glove.
- 4:59Speaker 3: And if it's done, it ends up Tiaska scores, bases
- 5:03Speaker 3: are still loaded again. If everybody advances and it's two outs,
- 5:07Speaker 3: that's probably how it should happen. But no matter what happens,
- 5:09Speaker 3: if you're the runner on third, in that situations, just
- 5:12Speaker 3: situation happens. The outfielder goes back. Your job is a
- 5:15Speaker 3: tag up and score. Let everything else happen behind you.
- 5:18Speaker 3: And he didn't do that, and it almost cost him.
- 5:20Speaker 3: It almost cost him.
- 5:22Speaker 4: But you know what, the good thing is, the good news?
- 5:24Speaker 1: What's that patro it?
- 5:25Speaker 2: I just win, so they're gonna rethink the play later on.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Even though for everybody at home, that's why you watch
- 5:34Speaker 2: a good postseason game, because every single game has a
- 5:37Speaker 2: different DNA. Only US humans have different DNAs. Every baseball
- 5:44Speaker 2: game is the only thing that looks back US has
- 5:47Speaker 2: their own unique DNA. Yeah, so that's why it's important
- 5:53Speaker 2: to watch. But this is something that we did not
- 5:54Speaker 2: expect to see. I have never seen it happen in
- 5:58Speaker 2: my long career. Rightfully though, if you saw some of
- 6:02Speaker 2: the runners kind of confused them the plate, it is
- 6:06Speaker 2: because we never seen these kind of play.
- 6:07Speaker 1: We're gonna pick it up in the top of the six,
- 6:09Speaker 1: so that crazy double play just happens. Smells in the
- 6:12Speaker 1: middle of tearing apart this Brewers team and then step
- 6:16Speaker 1: into the plate Freddy Freeman giving us a d done
- 6:20Speaker 1: Johnson and wake it up.
- 6:22Speaker 6: You know, we were He was one of the bats
- 6:24Speaker 6: that the Dodgers needed to get going, and this could
- 6:26Speaker 6: be the game that gets him going and he gets
- 6:29Speaker 6: going and everybody else over there.
- 6:30Speaker 1: This could be a tough series. But almost grazed the
- 6:33Speaker 1: roof Chimp.
- 6:34Speaker 3: I mean, you know, Freddy was out there shooting jumpers.
- 6:36Speaker 3: He said, getting ready for the basketball season. Sometimes when
- 6:38Speaker 3: you step back beyond on a half court that we
- 6:40Speaker 3: got three quarter shot, you gotta get it up up there.
- 6:43Speaker 4: He was nothing but net, babe, and get that heart right.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Yeah, that there you go. That's really all we thought
- 6:47Speaker 1: they needed. Blake Snell won one hundred and three pitches
- 6:50Speaker 1: that change up a sixty one percent with rate. The
- 6:53Speaker 1: ten k's one hit, zero walks Blake Snell out of
- 6:57Speaker 1: his mind. They couldn't sit up with to night.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I will say not out of mine inning elements.
- 7:04Speaker 4: That's what he was.
- 7:05Speaker 1: He was exactly where he needed to be. So they
- 7:07Speaker 1: bring in Rookie Sasaki, who had been a wonder kid
- 7:10Speaker 1: in this playoff, and this is when it started to
- 7:12Speaker 1: go crazy. Bower ground rule, double hope is back in
- 7:17Speaker 1: American family field, Surio, sacrifice fly RBI. Now there within
- 7:22Speaker 1: one run and two outs, and then the base of
- 7:25Speaker 1: this Brewer's team for about the last seven eight years,
- 7:28Speaker 1: Yellis steps to the plate and steps his way to
- 7:32Speaker 1: first base. This force is a pitching change. Lake Trining
- 7:36Speaker 1: comes in and now we got runners on the corners. Contreras,
- 7:41Speaker 1: Walks and Tarangus up and talk.
- 7:44Speaker 4: About building confidence. This is something that puts someone in
- 7:46Speaker 4: a big moment. Don't shy away from it.
- 7:48Speaker 1: He has been your guy before. You gotta give him.
- 7:51Speaker 4: The ball again.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Trying to with his first save since April, Rookie Sasaki
- 7:56Speaker 1: had come in, pitched five and a third and was
- 7:58Speaker 1: really untouchable postseason, and we will talk about where is
- 8:02Speaker 1: his confidence now. But after you faced Snell, you could
- 8:06Speaker 1: tell Manager Murphy still processing what he witnessed on the pump.
- 8:11Speaker 1: He was great.
- 8:12Speaker 7: His sequencing and in terms of throwing his change up
- 8:16Speaker 7: as effective as change up and slider were incredible. The
- 8:19Speaker 7: kid was incredible. I've seen him pitch like that before.
- 8:24Speaker 7: I think it was its most dominant performance against US.
- 8:30Speaker 7: I've been here ten years. I think that's a The
- 8:35Speaker 7: kid swulling back from Atlanta had one against this earlier,
- 8:38Speaker 7: kind of in the shadows.
- 8:39Speaker 8: It was kind of different. But kid was amazing. And
- 8:44Speaker 8: Will Smith the way he called the game, and it's
- 8:47Speaker 8: just was unusual the way he did it. He didn't
- 8:50Speaker 8: go back and forth, back and forth. He just went
- 8:52Speaker 8: change up, change up, change up, changement. The ball was
- 8:54Speaker 8: moving so much and such a great pitch. He recognized
- 8:57Speaker 8: it and stayed with it. And so I credit Smid too,
- 9:00Speaker 8: and Snell was he was unbelievable.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Major During the game, you could see Snell going and
- 9:07Speaker 1: he's calling his own game. I asked you in the
- 9:09Speaker 1: green room, did you call your own pitches? You said
- 9:11Speaker 1: you did. So there's also an appreciation not just of
- 9:14Speaker 1: striking out guys, but having the blueprint and the game plan.
- 9:17Speaker 1: We see him in the dugout looking at everything the
- 9:20Speaker 1: mind as well as the physical performance.
- 9:22Speaker 2: That's why I told you earlier, not too long ago,
- 9:25Speaker 2: about a minute ago, that he was an insane elements.
- 9:29Speaker 2: He was locked team from bit one to bitch one
- 9:32Speaker 2: oh one. I have never seen anything like it in
- 9:36Speaker 2: the postseason, and I was part of a lot of
- 9:38Speaker 2: post season games, and I've seen a lot of great pictures,
- 9:42Speaker 2: including that Roger Clemens that once did it too, but
- 9:46Speaker 2: five times that this guy has been able to do.
- 9:48Speaker 4: This kid has an aura for the big game.
- 9:51Speaker 1: And not only the.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Aura, but he also had the stuck very.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Deceiving over the top.
- 9:58Speaker 2: He has much sure as he goes, and he's become
- 10:04Speaker 2: a lethal weapon in the last three years. And that's
- 10:06Speaker 2: probably why you see those thy young hanging in the room.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Got two of them. Can I ask a question, you
- 10:12Speaker 1: guys are really smart? I'm really dumb. Bases were loaded
- 10:15Speaker 1: for Bryce to rang wild, pitch went right at his
- 10:18Speaker 1: legs and he jumped back. I'm dummy. Should he have
- 10:22Speaker 1: just taken that off the leg? See?
- 10:24Speaker 3: See this is like you guys played this, it's the
- 10:27Speaker 3: should he just have let it hit him? Yes, that
- 10:30Speaker 3: is tough when you're in that situation. Most guys can't say.
- 10:34Speaker 3: And I've played with the guy that will definitely for
- 10:36Speaker 3: sure let it hit him. Most guys are trying to
- 10:38Speaker 3: not get hit. You're not going up there looking to
- 10:40Speaker 3: get hit. You see a ball come down there, and
- 10:41Speaker 3: your reaction is to do that, right, but they have
- 10:45Speaker 3: the wherewithal knowing that Blake pulls the slider, you're looking
- 10:49Speaker 3: for something down and end, and you can most look
- 10:52Speaker 3: you're talk to turn into you know, turn your back
- 10:55Speaker 3: towards the ball. If he does that, it probably hits him.
- 10:57Speaker 3: But you see he took the stride like you normals
- 10:59Speaker 3: getting ready hit it, and then he just kind of
- 11:01Speaker 3: exposing himself out and put his leg out the way
- 11:04Speaker 3: and then he swings out the ball over his head,
- 11:06Speaker 3: which goes to tell me he was thinking about that.
- 11:09Speaker 3: He backed out, like man, if that hits me, that's
- 11:11Speaker 3: a tie ball game.
- 11:12Speaker 4: And that's still on your mind.
- 11:13Speaker 1: And not that he.
- 11:13Speaker 3: Didn't get fully back into the bat. You know that
- 11:16Speaker 3: you got away with an opportunity right there.
- 11:18Speaker 1: So and look, I'm not facing the ninety five mile
- 11:21Speaker 1: an hour slider at my kneecap.
- 11:23Speaker 6: You got to do is stand in the backyard unless
- 11:25Speaker 6: someone throw the ball at you left, go and see
- 11:27Speaker 6: if you either stay there or if your natural reaction
- 11:29Speaker 6: is to move out of the away.
- 11:30Speaker 4: Well, he said, he's not the smartest guy, so he probably.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Listen.
- 11:36Speaker 2: It's their natural reaction right to protect themselves when they
- 11:40Speaker 2: see the ball coming at them. And also, let's not
- 11:43Speaker 2: forget that as much as we want these kids to
- 11:46Speaker 2: be perfect, he's still young.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Oh sure, remember this is this is a.
- 11:50Speaker 4: Relatively young player.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Some of those players that used to do that turn
- 11:54Speaker 2: around with the intention of getting hit, or they practice
- 11:58Speaker 2: that it's not just one is not just one game.
- 12:01Speaker 2: They normally do that after the repetitions, so when the
- 12:06Speaker 2: moment comes, they identify it. But this is a relatively
- 12:10Speaker 2: young player that doesn't realize that he probably could have
- 12:13Speaker 2: tied up the game on a breaking ball, hitting game.
- 12:15Speaker 1: On the knee.
- 12:16Speaker 2: But their natural reaction is defend themselves from football.
- 12:20Speaker 1: One more question about Roki Sasaki, who was known as
- 12:23Speaker 1: the monster of the REWA era. He came in and
- 12:26Speaker 1: he was really stamping that claim. He had a perfect
- 12:29Speaker 1: three perfect innings in Game four clincher against the Phillies,
- 12:32Speaker 1: five and a third innings, no walks, he gets shelld
- 12:35Speaker 1: a little bit, gets shell shocked a little bit. They
- 12:37Speaker 1: have to bling and break Blake tryning. Do you have
- 12:39Speaker 1: any concerns going forward about Roki or do they instill
- 12:42Speaker 1: confidence in the locker room and get them back out
- 12:44Speaker 1: there and gain.
- 12:44Speaker 6: No no concern at all. Plus the situation you come
- 12:46Speaker 6: in with runners on, it's a little different. If you
- 12:49Speaker 6: come in with a clean inning, which is similar to
- 12:51Speaker 6: what he used to do as a starter, that makes
- 12:53Speaker 6: things a little bit easier. Now every situation is not
- 12:55Speaker 6: going to be a clean inning, but when you are
- 12:57Speaker 6: in that situation, that can build a confidence back up.
- 13:00Speaker 6: And give credit to Dave Roberts, the manager of the
- 13:02Speaker 6: Dodgers again flipping coming back and now whenever the opportunity
- 13:05Speaker 6: comes up in any of these remaining games, you got
- 13:08Speaker 6: to run him back out there. You got to get
- 13:09Speaker 6: his confidence back up soon.
- 13:11Speaker 1: In fact, Dave Roberts just spoke to the media about
- 13:13Speaker 1: Sasaki and Shrine and let's take a listen.
- 13:19Speaker 5: You know, I don't know he had three days off.
- 13:22Speaker 5: Everything I heard he felt great, and there was some
- 13:25Speaker 5: near misses, but you know, you walk through guys, and
- 13:29Speaker 5: so he was just off a little bit. But I
- 13:31Speaker 5: thought this stuff was still good, but just missing. And
- 13:34Speaker 5: I don't know, you know, if there was carry over
- 13:38Speaker 5: from the from the three innings, just kind of betting
- 13:41Speaker 5: on you know, how he's saying he feels, and the
- 13:44Speaker 5: coaches and training staff and you know, with threes three
- 13:48Speaker 5: days off, I felt.
- 13:48Speaker 8: Good with him and with Blake.
- 13:50Speaker 6: Obvious, see, you've seen a lot of good postseason pitching performances,
- 13:54Speaker 6: but what do you think of where do you think
- 13:56Speaker 6: Blake stells out and ranks some of those?
- 13:58Speaker 1: Tonight?
- 13:58Speaker 5: This was This is as good as I can remember
- 14:01Speaker 5: in the postseason against a very you know, gritty team,
- 14:05Speaker 5: puts the ball in play, the change up was the
- 14:08Speaker 5: pitch of the night. This command was great.
- 14:11Speaker 1: And yeah, you're.
- 14:14Speaker 5: Not going to see too many performances like that, certainly
- 14:16Speaker 5: in the postseason. This was This was pretty special.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Madni final thoughts on Sasaki. I think it's gonna be fine.
- 14:23Speaker 2: I think the fact that he had to wait three days, uh,
- 14:27Speaker 2: you know, this is not a usual game for him.
- 14:30Speaker 4: Uh, But but I think it's gonna be fine.
- 14:33Speaker 2: I wouldn't worry at all about about Staki.
- 14:36Speaker 1: He's gonna be okay.
- 14:38Speaker 2: I I think he needed to fill the ball a
- 14:40Speaker 2: little bit more.
- 14:41Speaker 3: Uh.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Plus, this is probably the you know, the tightest game
- 14:45Speaker 2: he ever played. And and uh, I think it's gonna
- 14:49Speaker 2: be okay. And plus relievers are thought to have a
- 14:53Speaker 2: very short memory. So he's gonna be right back out
- 14:56Speaker 2: and he's gonna be just fine, probably even better with
- 14:59Speaker 2: the field the ball eight
