- 0:11Speaker 1: that K Pop demon Hunters.
- 0:12Speaker 2: The story continues in our.

- 0:18Speaker 1: that is going to change your family forever based on
- 0:21Speaker 1: our experience with it. And the phrase the phrase of
- 0:25Speaker 1: all the phrases that I've taught by kids, the phrase
- 0:27Speaker 1: that has stood out the most as we dissect Father's Day,
- 0:30Speaker 1: all that and more, all some Sabrina Carpenter gooss as well.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I forgot that coming up in Just to Sex. Stay
- 0:35Speaker 1: with us on the Happy Families Podcast. Hello and welcome
- 0:40Speaker 1: to the Happy Family's podcast, Realpairing Solutions every Day. We
- 0:43Speaker 1: are Justin and Kylie Coulson. Kylie, so much to get
- 0:46Speaker 1: through today. Going to start with our Letter of the Week.
- 0:49Speaker 1: You can email your letters to podcasts at happyfamilies dot
- 0:52Speaker 1: com dot au.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Letter of the Week, Email of the Week.
- 0:55Speaker 3: You've been holding out on me. I don't know anything
- 0:57Speaker 3: about a letter of the week.
- 0:58Speaker 1: What are the challenges with the work that I do,
- 1:00Speaker 1: the travel that I do is sometimes we don't get
- 1:01Speaker 1: to talk about everything. I've been whispering, sweet, nothing's into
- 1:04Speaker 1: your ear? Instead instead of telling you about the letter
- 1:07Speaker 1: of the week, email of the week, whatever you want
- 1:09Speaker 1: to call it. So this one comes through from Amy
- 1:11Speaker 1: who wanted to share a letter from her school principle.
- 1:15Speaker 1: And I think this one is a big one and
- 1:18Speaker 1: a big shout out and thumbs up to Templestow Park
- 1:20Speaker 1: Primary School and Victoria for this one. The principal, Mark Roberts,
- 1:24Speaker 1: sent out the following to parents and cares of year
- 1:27Speaker 1: two students. Following discussions with the school counsel, of the
- 1:30Speaker 1: school's leadership team, staff and other schools, the decision has
- 1:33Speaker 1: been made to not commence the bring your own Device
- 1:36Speaker 1: program in year three. This means you won't have to
- 1:38Speaker 1: provide an iPad for your child in twenty twenty six. Basically,
- 1:41Speaker 1: they're saying, we want your kids to not have screens
- 1:43Speaker 1: for at least one more year. And I could read
- 1:45Speaker 1: a whole lot more, but that's the gist of it,
- 1:47Speaker 1: and I just thought to myself, we need more letters
- 1:49Speaker 1: like that coming through. We need more principles having the
- 1:52Speaker 1: courage to say, let's stay analog. It's actually not going
- 1:55Speaker 1: to revolutionize kids' education by putting them on an iPad.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I love it.
- 1:59Speaker 3: That's not the letter of the week. That sounds like
- 2:01Speaker 3: the winter of the year.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, that's pretty awesome.
- 2:03Speaker 1: So many parents just breathed that and went, oh, reassurance,
- 2:06Speaker 1: Thank goodness for that. We can we can do this,
- 2:09Speaker 1: we can do this. So I love that. There's a
- 2:12Speaker 1: little bit of news as well a bit of goss.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Last week, we were talking about Ca Pop Demon Hunters,
- 2:17Speaker 1: and I asked you if you were going to take
- 2:18Speaker 1: the kids.
- 2:18Speaker 3: To see you, we're going to throw one of our
- 2:20Speaker 3: kids under the bus.
- 2:21Speaker 2: And you know where I'm going.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, So while I'm throwing you under the bus, first,
- 2:26Speaker 1: I volunt told you to take the kids to.
- 2:30Speaker 2: The movies while I was away.
- 2:32Speaker 1: You didn't do it, and so and not died I
- 2:34Speaker 1: because I was away, but because it's available on Netflix
- 2:38Speaker 1: and you don't have to pay all that money to
- 2:39Speaker 1: go to the movies to see it. Anyway, our fifteen
- 2:41Speaker 1: year old sat down with our eleven year old. They
- 2:42Speaker 1: decided to watch it together. Fifteen year old hadn't seen it,
- 2:45Speaker 1: and when the movie was over, she walked out of
- 2:47Speaker 1: the living room with tears in her eyes, sobbing, sobbing,
- 2:52Speaker 1: crying about Kee Pop Demon hunters, we are mocking our
- 2:55Speaker 1: daughter on the podcast.
- 2:57Speaker 3: So is there eleven year old sister? Because when I
- 2:59Speaker 3: walked in the door, the first thing she said to
- 3:01Speaker 3: me was go ask Lily how she liked the.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Movie, and Lily the whole time, she's like, it was terrible.
- 3:07Speaker 1: I didn't like it at all. I wasn't interested in it,
- 3:09Speaker 1: and We're like, but you are crying a lot. So
- 3:13Speaker 1: I just wanted to get that out of the way
- 3:14Speaker 1: as well. A couple of other quick things. Sabrina Carpenter
- 3:17Speaker 1: has her brand new app, Matt. This has been provocative,
- 3:20Speaker 1: This has been controversial. This is definitely not a kid's album,
- 3:24Speaker 1: but everybody who's a kid who loves Sabrina Carpenter wants it.
- 3:27Speaker 3: When people first saw the cover of Man's Best Friend,
- 3:30Speaker 3: there was a lot of just and oh my, there
- 3:33Speaker 3: just a lot of pointing fingers.
- 3:35Speaker 4: My fans that know me and know the person behind
- 3:38Speaker 4: the music look at that photo and they know exactly.
- 3:40Speaker 3: What it is.
- 3:41Speaker 4: And people that have no idea who I am absolutely
- 3:44Speaker 4: look at that photo and go where are my parents?
- 3:47Speaker 2: Yes, my parents.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Actually saw the photo and they loved it.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Anyway, Sabrina Carpenter has now come out publicly and said
- 3:54Speaker 1: that her new album Man's Best Friend, was and I
- 3:58Speaker 1: quote not for any pearl clutches as a reporter by
- 4:03Speaker 1: the Hollywood Reporter, strong language, a lot of explicit content
- 4:07Speaker 1: on the album, and Sabrina Carpenter's well, I mean, she's
- 4:10Speaker 1: owning the space that she's decided to take on, but
- 4:13Speaker 1: very very much an album that is not for children.
- 4:17Speaker 1: So we just thought we would mention that as well
- 4:19Speaker 1: as part of the broader I'll do better Tomorrow conversation.
- 4:23Speaker 1: All right, So that's the latest news in pairing. As
- 4:26Speaker 1: far as I'm aware, there might have been some other
- 4:28Speaker 1: bits and pieces that have slipped my attention. You can
- 4:30Speaker 1: let us know about anything that's big via podcasts at
- 4:33Speaker 1: Happy families dot com dot a U Kylie, I'll do
- 4:36Speaker 1: better tomorrow. It's time to dissect the week that was.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Talk about where you won, where you would have liked
- 4:41Speaker 1: to improved. What's your main take home message, what's your
- 4:45Speaker 1: main story for the week.
- 4:47Speaker 3: I actually have a question for you. How do you
- 4:49Speaker 3: usually feel about Father's Day?
- 4:50Speaker 2: Next question? I mean, I know I'm supposed to love it.
- 4:53Speaker 1: I know there's a whole lot of scripting around what
- 4:55Speaker 1: Father's Day's supposed to be, but I'm not massive into it.
- 4:58Speaker 1: I usually have a a large series of expectations in
- 5:02Speaker 1: that I'd like the kids to demonstrate that they've thought
- 5:04Speaker 1: of me just a little bit, although I don't need
- 5:06Speaker 1: anything but a nice letter or a song or a
- 5:08Speaker 1: poem or something, and I'd like them to tidy up
- 5:13Speaker 1: the mess without being asked and get along for the day.
- 5:17Speaker 3: You're not asking very much, very low expectations. Verry said, no,
- 5:22Speaker 3: come on, come on, where are you going with this?
- 5:25Speaker 3: Did you just thro shaated me? I nailed it this year.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I do have low expectations. I think we did too.
- 5:35Speaker 1: I think we had an absolute cracker of a Father's Day.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Might have been the best one ever. Maybe, So we.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Don't hide the fact that we got to church on
- 5:44Speaker 3: Sundays and one of the mums in our community came
- 5:48Speaker 3: up with this brilliant idea to prank the dads, and
- 5:51Speaker 3: so we made a massive team order and ordered all
- 5:55Speaker 3: the dads the same tie for Father's Day.
- 5:58Speaker 2: How many?
- 5:59Speaker 1: How many were ordered? Like a hundred something like that.
- 6:01Speaker 1: That have to have been at least one hundred, Yeah,
- 6:03Speaker 1: identical tie.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, So I prepped Emily, and she did such
- 6:09Speaker 3: a good job. When she gifted you your tie, you
- 6:11Speaker 3: had already made it really clear that you did not
- 6:13Speaker 3: want another time.
- 6:14Speaker 1: I have more ties than I'm ever gonna wear. Like
- 6:17Speaker 1: I only wear a tie on a Sunday. That's pretty
- 6:19Speaker 1: much it unless we're doing some kind of an event.
- 6:21Speaker 1: So I don't need tires. I don't have space for tires.
- 6:23Speaker 2: I don't like.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Ties particularly, And so the kids all no, no more
- 6:27Speaker 1: ties for dad.
- 6:28Speaker 3: And I knew if this was going to work, Emily
- 6:30Speaker 3: was the only one who could get away with it.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Yeah, because if the older kids gave me one, I
- 6:34Speaker 1: probably would. Here's my low expectations. I'd probably said, what
- 6:37Speaker 1: do you get me tie for? I don't I get
- 6:40Speaker 1: this from my mom My. Mom has said that so
- 6:41Speaker 1: many times when we've gifted to something. She's like, why
- 6:44Speaker 1: did you get that for me?
- 6:44Speaker 2: I don't want that. It's like I don't need to
- 6:46Speaker 2: show some gratitude.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I can't believe I'm saying this. This is a terrible confession.
- 6:50Speaker 1: This meant to me your old a better tomorrow, and
- 6:52Speaker 1: you're just throwing me under the bus.
- 6:53Speaker 2: No, I'm not all right. Maybe I'm throwing you're a
- 6:56Speaker 2: very good job by yourself.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Anyway, Emily hands it to you and you actually look
- 7:01Speaker 3: at it, and you were quite impressed. You thought it
- 7:03Speaker 3: was an okay tie.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I have to I mean, while I'm just absolutely destroying
- 7:08Speaker 1: my reputation here, I did look at the back to
- 7:10Speaker 1: see what brand it was, and there was no brand,
- 7:12Speaker 1: and I thought, oh, that's funny. And the feel of
- 7:14Speaker 1: the tie, it feels like a team mood tie. I
- 7:17Speaker 1: wasn't thinking that at the time, but I was thinking,
- 7:19Speaker 1: it doesn't feel like the kind of tie that I
- 7:21Speaker 1: would normally wear.
- 7:23Speaker 3: But Emily was very proud of herself. She paid with
- 7:26Speaker 3: it all with her own money, right, And she hands
- 7:28Speaker 3: it to you and you say that you actually asked
- 7:31Speaker 3: me what colored suit you're gonna wear with it, because
- 7:34Speaker 3: it would go with both.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Yeah, she did such a good job, so.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Picking a tie that was going to work for everybody.
- 7:39Speaker 3: We get to church and as you're doing a reverse park,
- 7:44Speaker 3: you do a double take because you see one of
- 7:46Speaker 3: the guys in the car park putting up the kids praying.
- 7:49Speaker 1: Yeah, a guy called guy like literally that guy, that guy,
- 7:53Speaker 1: he was wearing the same tie.
- 7:54Speaker 3: You did a double take, and I knew in that
- 7:56Speaker 3: moment you had clicked that his tie was the same
- 7:58Speaker 3: as yours.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Yeah, you get out of the car.
- 8:01Speaker 1: But I didn't see anything bigger than just oh, guy
- 8:03Speaker 1: and I were in the same way.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:05Speaker 3: So you get out of the car and you make
- 8:06Speaker 3: a comment to guy that you've got the same tie,
- 8:10Speaker 3: and he said, you actually asked him where did you
- 8:13Speaker 3: get yours from? And he said, oh, my daughter brought
- 8:15Speaker 3: it from the Father's Day store. So your brain is
- 8:18Speaker 3: going over time because you know Emily doesn't go to
- 8:20Speaker 3: any Father's Day store.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Well, she's in homeschool, so she we homeschool her, so
- 8:24Speaker 1: there's no Father's Day Still, I'm thinking maybe there was
- 8:27Speaker 1: a maybe there was a stall at the plaza or something.
- 8:29Speaker 3: And I had made it clear to you that we'd
- 8:31Speaker 3: gone to shopping.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Yes, so you were like, this doesn't make sense. Okay.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Then the next thing, another.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Guy, Sam drives in, drives in, he.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Gets out, and me and the other wife are looking
- 8:44Speaker 3: at each other. We're just waiting for this here. But
- 8:47Speaker 3: Sam is oblivious. He has not even like clicked.
- 8:51Speaker 2: But God was walking after his kids, so he didn't
- 8:53Speaker 2: notice either.
- 8:54Speaker 1: And I'm not Guy Sam, no way, and The first
- 8:59Speaker 1: thing I say to Sam is where.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Did you get the tie?
- 9:03Speaker 3: So now you're peppering me to ask me exactly what store.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Because here's the thing, because Sam actually said, oh, I
- 9:10Speaker 1: think that the kids bought this one on TEAMOO for me,
- 9:12Speaker 1: And I've gone like, in my mind, I'm thinking, because
- 9:14Speaker 1: I'm tight, I've gone hang on a sex. So Sam's
- 9:17Speaker 1: got his on TEAMU, which means it probably costs about
- 9:19Speaker 1: four dollars, and guys picked his one up from the
- 9:23Speaker 1: Father's Stace or the kids have anyway from the Father's
- 9:25Speaker 1: day store, which means that he might have paid somewhere
- 9:27Speaker 1: between six and ten bucks. But what I'm actually thinking
- 9:30Speaker 1: is You've got to the plaza and somebody's gone and
- 9:32Speaker 1: bought TEAMO ties and they're probably selling them for thirty
- 9:35Speaker 1: or forty or fifty bucks in the plaza, and You've
- 9:37Speaker 1: We've been ripped off. That's what I was thinking, Emily's
- 9:40Speaker 1: been ripped off. This is not fair.
- 9:42Speaker 3: But the first part was when you walked in the
- 9:44Speaker 3: doors and you realized you'd been pranked and everybody around
- 9:48Speaker 3: you was wearing.
- 9:48Speaker 2: The same time. I literally I looked around, I'm like,
- 9:51Speaker 2: I've been pranked. You've prankedice you got it was good.
- 9:55Speaker 2: It was good.
- 9:56Speaker 3: It was just it actually just elevated our day to
- 9:59Speaker 3: another level. We really enjoyed great conversations with friends in
- 10:03Speaker 3: our community. And then we got to come home and
- 10:06Speaker 3: we had an afternoon down at the beach. We just
- 10:09Speaker 3: took some picnic food.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Hey, hang on, you're stealing my old A better tomorrow,
- 10:12Speaker 1: am I? Well a little bit, but anyway, go ahead.
- 10:14Speaker 3: And it was just so nice watching everybody play frisbee together,
- 10:19Speaker 3: and even the kids that are not particularly interested in
- 10:22Speaker 3: playing frisbee got involved. It was just it was easy.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Well, it was more than that.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Not only do we have this wonderful level of involvement
- 10:29Speaker 1: and engagement. I mean you were in the whole family.
- 10:32Speaker 1: We were all throwing a frisbee around and just playing
- 10:35Speaker 1: and having fun on the beach. But at the end
- 10:39Speaker 1: of the night, the kids all came and late on
- 10:41Speaker 1: the bed and said, can.
- 10:42Speaker 2: We do that every week? Like we want more of
- 10:44Speaker 2: that in our lives.
- 10:46Speaker 1: And I mean a bit of a I don't know,
- 10:49Speaker 1: I was going to say, shot myself in the foot,
- 10:51Speaker 1: dig of the heart kind of thing, because this book
- 10:53Speaker 1: has taken me away so much I'm so so mindful
- 10:57Speaker 1: of how much of this Boy's book has robbed our
- 10:59Speaker 1: family of time together. But boy or boy, it's almost over.
- 11:02Speaker 1: I'm into the last couple of weeks of this book,
- 11:04Speaker 1: and it was really nice. It was a great Father's Day.
- 11:08Speaker 3: And I guess my take home is I've spent so
- 11:10Speaker 3: many years trying to curate the perfect event, whether it
- 11:14Speaker 3: be Father's Day or birthdays, and you know, kind of
- 11:17Speaker 3: got myself twisted myself and notts trying to kind of
- 11:21Speaker 3: make sure that every detail has taken care of. And
- 11:24Speaker 3: while some of those events have actually been really beautiful events,
- 11:27Speaker 3: what I loved was just how like organic, organic this was.
- 11:32Speaker 3: It really was like I just made a simple green
- 11:34Speaker 3: salad with barbecued some chicken the day before. There was
- 11:38Speaker 3: nothing like super special about it. Yeah, but what was
- 11:41Speaker 3: special was the fact that we were all there and
- 11:43Speaker 3: we all wanted to be there.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Although a quick note, let's just something about not letting
- 11:47Speaker 1: the sand get in the food next time, crunchy salad
- 11:50Speaker 1: with extra sand is not but you know what, we
- 11:53Speaker 1: got through it.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Hey, up next, what I pulled.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Out of the past week in terms of better way
- 12:00Speaker 1: to make our families function plus making the most of
- 12:03Speaker 1: most memories stay with us. Okay, Kylie, here's my old
- 12:14Speaker 1: better tomorrow for the week that was. I'm going to
- 12:17Speaker 1: be really sneaky here and chuck a couple in because
- 12:19Speaker 1: they all kind of combined together. Over the last what
- 12:22Speaker 1: it would have been the last twenty one days. I
- 12:24Speaker 1: think I've been on the road and traveling for about
- 12:26Speaker 1: fifteen of them. Sixteen of them, so I've barely been
- 12:29Speaker 1: home for the last few weeks. It's been absolutely chaotic,
- 12:32Speaker 1: and that's a really hard thing for us. We talk
- 12:34Speaker 1: about it regularly. There's certainly no bragging there. If anything,
- 12:37Speaker 1: it's a it's a privilege to be able to travel
- 12:40Speaker 1: around the country and help other families to learn principles
- 12:43Speaker 1: that are going to make them happier, but it does
- 12:45Speaker 1: come at a steep price for our family, and it's
- 12:48Speaker 1: been really rough. I'm so grateful. I'm not traveling again
- 12:51Speaker 1: for several weeks. Now I'm home, which feels really good.
- 12:54Speaker 1: But last weekend, while I was home, randomly, spontaneously, the
- 13:00Speaker 1: kids came into the room and they resurrected a game
- 13:02Speaker 1: that we haven't played for years.
- 13:03Speaker 2: And you probably heard it from the kitchen.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I did.
- 13:06Speaker 1: The kids are just screaming and this is a loud,
- 13:10Speaker 1: raucous game. The game is called.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Push Dad off the Bed.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Why don't you describe it? Because you're usually not involved
- 13:19Speaker 1: in it, you just watch it. I'm the one who's
- 13:22Speaker 1: struggling for dear life to stay.
- 13:24Speaker 2: In this game. How would you explain the game?
- 13:27Speaker 3: It's just a massive bodies all over my bed. There's squeals, delights,
- 13:33Speaker 3: there's feet, heads, I just body parts everywhere.
- 13:36Speaker 2: It's an all in brawl.
- 13:37Speaker 3: It is an all in brawl.
- 13:38Speaker 2: And what's crazy.
- 13:40Speaker 3: What's crazy is our twenty two year old lives at
- 13:43Speaker 3: home and she was as much involved as the eleven
- 13:47Speaker 3: year old. Like, this is a game that has stood
- 13:50Speaker 3: the test of time.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I've been playing it for twenty five years.
- 13:54Speaker 3: Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what happens in twenty
- 13:56Speaker 3: four years.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Oh, my goodness, might break hip. That's how that's what
- 14:03Speaker 2: we're going to do. I don't want an old people's home.
- 14:05Speaker 2: You can just push that off the bed and all
- 14:06Speaker 2: of a sudden it's over pneumonia, broken hip.
- 14:10Speaker 1: So basically, they use their arms, they use their nails,
- 14:14Speaker 1: they use their heels, they use their heads and it's
- 14:16Speaker 1: then against me. So I had a twenty two year old,
- 14:19Speaker 1: an eighteen year old, a fifteen year old, and an
- 14:21Speaker 1: eleven year old, and basically I lay on the bed
- 14:24Speaker 1: and they try to pull me off or push me
- 14:26Speaker 1: off the bed.
- 14:27Speaker 3: So you all start on the bed, and the idea
- 14:29Speaker 3: is to get it. You've got to try and get
- 14:31Speaker 3: them all off. Yes, so if you do that, you win, yeap.
- 14:35Speaker 1: But they've got to get me off and then they win.
- 14:39Speaker 1: And it's just we ended up playing it two or
- 14:41Speaker 1: three times last weekend, and and every time, I mean,
- 14:44Speaker 1: the bed gets destroyed. That's just the bed is a
- 14:47Speaker 1: casualty of the game. So much fun, so much laughter.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Nobody cried this time in the entire weekend, which I mean,
- 14:55Speaker 1: I'm taking this as a plus.
- 14:56Speaker 2: It was a lot of fun.
- 14:57Speaker 1: But the other quick one, gosh, and I'm taking away
- 15:00Speaker 1: too long, the frisbee on the beach, which you've already mentioned.
- 15:04Speaker 2: So much fun. But as part of our Father's.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Day remembrance experience, you asked the kids to each share
- 15:13Speaker 1: one of their favorite memories of me, and every single
- 15:17Speaker 1: one of them essentially shared the same story or their
- 15:20Speaker 1: version of a certain incident with me.
- 15:23Speaker 2: And the same story.
- 15:23Speaker 1: So I el just talked about the time that she
- 15:25Speaker 1: wrote off the family car by crashing it into the
- 15:28Speaker 1: wall of a church on day one of driving with
- 15:30Speaker 1: her learner plates. Abby, a twenty two year old, talked
- 15:33Speaker 1: about the time where she was driving late at night
- 15:35Speaker 1: and a kangaroo hopped in front of her and she
- 15:38Speaker 1: wrote my car off that was only a year old,
- 15:40Speaker 1: my brand new Kia Sarato GT that I was very
- 15:44Speaker 1: excited about then. And so on down the list, each
- 15:47Speaker 1: of the girls they broke something, or they smashed something,
- 15:49Speaker 1: or they ruined something, and every single one of them said,
- 15:53Speaker 1: favorite memory of Dad, or one of my favorite times
- 15:55Speaker 1: with dad.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Is when this awful thing happened.
- 15:58Speaker 1: And I used the line, the line that they all remembered,
- 16:02Speaker 1: and it was so gratifying. The line is people matter,
- 16:06Speaker 1: things don't. And so when they confess that the car
- 16:10Speaker 1: was totaled or the thing was smashed or the whatever
- 16:13Speaker 1: it was, apparently in every single case, I went to
- 16:17Speaker 1: them and I wrapped them up in my arms and
- 16:19Speaker 1: I whispered in their ear people matter, things don't. It's
- 16:23Speaker 1: going to be okay. So for me, that's my I'll
- 16:25Speaker 1: do better tomorrow The dream has always been for me
- 16:29Speaker 1: that when our children reflect on difficult moments and emotional
- 16:34Speaker 1: moments and challenging moments through their childhood, and they reflect
- 16:38Speaker 1: on the way that you and I have handled those things,
- 16:40Speaker 1: that they will have warm memories, that they'll have the
- 16:43Speaker 1: kinds of memories that help them to understand that there
- 16:46Speaker 1: was compassion and love and understanding and second chances and
- 16:52Speaker 1: those kinds of things and people matter. Things don't seems
- 16:55Speaker 1: to have somehow, somehow snuck through the defenses and worked well.
- 16:59Speaker 3: I know fether days coming gone, but I'm so grateful
- 17:01Speaker 3: for not only the way in which you have fathered
- 17:07Speaker 3: our children, but the way that you have elevated them
- 17:13Speaker 3: and just encouraged them to be their own best selves,
- 17:20Speaker 3: to be critical thinkers, to question the way things are,
- 17:24Speaker 3: and to be a blessing and a light to other people.
- 17:30Speaker 3: And your example has just been such a bright, shining
- 17:34Speaker 3: light for them. And hearing them share those stories you
- 17:39Speaker 3: talked about it being gratifying to you, but it just
- 17:45Speaker 3: I think so often as parents, we sit there with
- 17:48Speaker 3: our big long list of all the things we get
- 17:50Speaker 3: wrong and all the ways we wish that we could
- 17:54Speaker 3: be better, and yet to sit there on Sunday night
- 17:58Speaker 3: and to listen to these girls share these really really
- 18:01Speaker 3: big moments in their lives and the thing that they
- 18:05Speaker 3: remembered was that they madded and that was just it was.
- 18:10Speaker 3: It was such a beautiful moment. So thank you, Thank
- 18:15Speaker 3: you for being all of that and more.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Now you've got me weepy as well. We need to
- 18:18Speaker 1: wrap this up. We've gone well over time. We really
- 18:20Speaker 1: hope that you've enjoyed listening and hope that there's some
