- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, Raina, you're on the air. Thanks for holding Hi.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Thank you so much for having me.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Yeah, you're welcome. What's up?
- 0:08Speaker 3: So, guys, I need.
- 0:09Speaker 2: An honest answer here because my friends saying I've completely
- 0:13Speaker 2: lost my mind.
- 0:15Speaker 3: So I'm the maid of honor for my best friend's wedding,
- 0:19Speaker 3: and professionally, I'm an operations manager. So basically, when I
- 0:24Speaker 3: organize something, I turn it into an Olympic sport. So
- 0:29Speaker 3: for her bachelorette weekend, I went all out. I mean
- 0:32Speaker 3: I had flight trackers, reservation like reservations for restaurants. I
- 0:38Speaker 3: had color coded outfit themes for each day, group schedules,
- 0:43Speaker 3: you know, split chainment spreadsheets. I even created formulas so
- 0:47Speaker 3: nobody had to figure out dinner.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Now the effort a few cocktails.
- 0:51Speaker 3: I mean, I would think this is every girl's dreams.
- 0:54Speaker 2: They have a built in party planner.
- 0:57Speaker 3: I spent, no joke, probably forty hours of my actual
- 1:01Speaker 3: PTO putting this whole thing together because I wanted everyone's, like,
- 1:06Speaker 3: everything to run.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Smoothly and for everyone to have a great time.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Well we get there and nobody follows the itinerary. They're sleeping, Yeah,
- 1:16Speaker 3: they're sleeping in they are running late, they completely miss
- 1:21Speaker 3: our three hundred dollars drag brunch reservation.
- 1:24Speaker 2: People are changing plans on the fly.
- 1:27Speaker 3: The whole weekend starts unraveling, And to me, this is
- 1:30Speaker 3: like crisis moment, I know, And like then one of
- 1:36Speaker 3: the girls actually looks at my tenerary and says it
- 1:39Speaker 3: was quote unquote giving corporate hostage situations.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Can you believe that, Oh my gosh, did you just
- 1:48Speaker 4: go over a schedule? Because here's the thing, Like my friends,
- 1:51Speaker 4: she's very similar to you, And I always appreciate it
- 1:54Speaker 4: because that does take a lot of work and like
- 1:56Speaker 4: looking into all the places and finding where to go,
- 1:58Speaker 4: and it is a lot of work. But I think
- 2:00Speaker 4: when you over schedule a vacation, it doesn't feel like
- 2:03Speaker 4: a vacation anymore. It feels like you are working.
- 2:06Speaker 2: And that could be true, but I'm typically the planner.
- 2:10Speaker 3: I mean, if you're going on a trip and you
- 2:13Speaker 3: don't have an itinerary, like what are we doing here?
- 2:16Speaker 3: And if there are color coded fads involved, I think
- 2:20Speaker 3: it's a little harsh. So anyways, by the final day,
- 2:24Speaker 3: I was super frustrated, maybe more frustrated than I should
- 2:28Speaker 3: have been. I just felt really underappreciated. So when everyone
- 2:33Speaker 3: started ventmollingk for the Airbnb, I mean, tell me if
- 2:37Speaker 3: I overreacted. I added a two hundred dollars event operations
- 2:42Speaker 3: and logisticsty.
- 2:43Speaker 2: For each person.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Okay, before you respond, My thinking was, if I'm basically
- 2:49Speaker 3: acting as a travel coordinator, project manager, accountant, scheduler, and
- 2:55Speaker 3: crisis response team all weekend, that's a lot.
- 2:58Speaker 2: For one person, So maybe my labor should be worth something.
- 3:02Speaker 4: And they didn't ask you to do that, so the
- 3:04Speaker 4: charge them for it's kind of bad.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Up do they pay it?
- 3:10Speaker 3: Well, the Brian found out, and now half the group
- 3:14Speaker 3: refuses to pay, saying and everyone is having the audacity
- 3:18Speaker 3: to say that I ruined the trip, and apparently I'm
- 3:22Speaker 3: the villain of the Bachelorette weekend.
- 3:25Speaker 5: People kind of know you, they know you're like this,
- 3:27Speaker 5: Like this reminds me of my wife Stacy's friend Nicole,
- 3:31Speaker 5: who like planned, helped plan our wedding, where my itinerator
- 3:35Speaker 5: was like, you will go to this room and you
- 3:36Speaker 5: have eighteen minutes to shower and then I need you
- 3:39Speaker 5: here for the pictures, and I mean it was on time.
- 3:42Speaker 5: In fact, they even told the pastor like for our
- 3:44Speaker 5: opening number that will be three minutes, and then you
- 3:47Speaker 5: have three minutes to talk. And I mean it was
- 3:49Speaker 5: like on schedule. If you know people like that, then
- 3:52Speaker 5: you expect that from you. We would expect nothing less
- 3:55Speaker 5: than color coordination from you.
- 3:58Speaker 3: I mean, I would argue, I can see I can.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Play double's advocate, and I can see both sides where
- 4:05Speaker 2: it can be a little bit much. However, if there's
- 4:08Speaker 2: not structure, it's just can't say. For me, I'm like TYPEE,
- 4:12Speaker 2: so like that would be like suffocating to me.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I'd be like, I don't want to go to your
- 4:16Speaker 1: drag brunch or whatever, but it's like a drag brush.
- 4:21Speaker 5: It's so fun.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I don't give you about love. I would love to
- 4:24Speaker 1: go to a drag brunch. Don't give Your issue is
- 4:28Speaker 1: that she's charging people to put it together. Yeah, exactly
- 4:31Speaker 1: ahead of time said okay, i'll be your maid of honor.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I'll put together this party. But it's going to take
- 4:35Speaker 1: a lot of work, and I'm gonna charge you guys.
- 4:38Speaker 1: That's a lot. That's a lot. That's a lot.
- 4:40Speaker 5: Is a game for it?
- 4:41Speaker 1: Then, I mean, and also, if you don't know everyone,
- 4:43Speaker 1: people probably think you're crazy. I'm surprised if anyone, as
- 4:46Speaker 1: anyone paid the two hundred dollars.
- 4:48Speaker 3: Okay, so, but honestly, if somebody spent forty hours planning
- 4:52Speaker 3: something and everyone completely ignores it.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Like, am I wrong for feeling like my time hands day?
- 5:00Speaker 3: I don't think I would have charged the two hundred
- 5:02Speaker 3: dollars hand everybody fallen in line.
- 5:05Speaker 2: With the itinerary.
- 5:07Speaker 3: It was the fact that people were just going a
- 5:10Speaker 3: law and it felt like okay, and nobody respected my
- 5:14Speaker 3: time and energy.
- 5:15Speaker 2: So I'm going to have to start charging people.
- 5:19Speaker 3: I think they're probably like I should be a donation
- 5:21Speaker 3: of your time to the bride or whatever.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Has anyone paid it? Nobody paid it? Figured, I don't think.
- 5:33Speaker 3: In this economy, I'm not surprised.
- 5:34Speaker 2: So to me, am I crazy here?
- 5:37Speaker 5: We need to follow thee Why are we paying you?
- 5:41Speaker 1: I do? I think you're crazy? I do. I don't
- 5:43Speaker 1: think anyone's gonna agree with you. I think you're precious.
- 5:46Speaker 4: Yeah, this would be a little un huge.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Thank you for calling in with your interesting situation, Ryda,
- 5:52Speaker 1: thanks for listening. Thank you so much.
