- 0:08Many homes have been given the title of Demon House, many of
- 0:13which I have covered here on this channel, but this house out
- 0:18of all of them has truly earned the moniker.
- 0:22From the time the soil is dug up during the Victorian era, a
- 0:27curse seemed to be placed upon the land.
- 0:30And when you combine terrible happenings with the cult
- 0:34rituals, it's truly a recipe for disaster.
- 0:38The results of which have produced a cornucopia of
- 0:42paranormal activity within this now infamous Indiana home.
- 0:48This is the untold story of the frightening Monroe Demon House.
- 0:53Join me as I attempt to uncover its supernatural secrets with

- 1:11All information available on this
- 1:25property is scarce at best, but I've done my best to find out as
- 1:30much as I could to try and provide you with the most
- 1:33cohesive picture possible. Hartford City, IN what was
- 1:38started as a small log cabin settlement, continued to grow
- 1:43and eventually hit the big time in the late 1880s where itself
- 1:49and its neighbors entered a natural gas boom, resulting in
- 1:54many factories being created during industrialization.
- 1:59Factories that produce textiles, glass and other goods.
- 2:05But although natural resources were widely abundant within the
- 2:08ground there, something else seemed to inhabit the soil.
- 2:13Our story begins at the construction site of a rather
- 2:16unsuspecting looking Victorian home.
- 2:19The years 1892 and the Berger family, who emigrated to the
- 2:24area from Belgium, had been successful in their business
- 2:28endeavors and thus thought a new home and their new country would
- 2:33be the ultimate earthly reward. However, the family's new found
- 2:37happiness would be all but short lived from the time the earth
- 2:42was dug up and the new home erected.
- 2:45Within months, John Berger, the patriarch of the family, would
- 2:51die from tuberculosis within its walls, mourning his death.
- 2:56This would be far from the last tragedy his family would endure
- 3:00moving forward. Shortly after John's death, a
- 3:04fire would mysteriously start the upstairs level of the house
- 3:09in time destroying a large portion of the property, and the
- 3:13majority of the Berger family would meet a truly gruesome and
- 3:19terrible fate. Following the horrific fire that
- 3:22torched what little happiness the Berger family had left, the
- 3:26widow of the family and one surviving child desperately
- 3:30needed a source of income. So the widowed Missus Berger
- 3:35decided to start renting out rooms in order to make it.
- 3:39There would be various tenants, but the most prominent were the
- 3:43Myers family. The head of the household, a man
- 3:47named Ulysses Myers, was a well known and respected member of
- 3:51the community. He was known for his kindness,
- 3:55compassion, and for being an all around amazing family man.
- 4:01But this reputation would soon fade.
- 4:05Shortly after moving into the home, Ulysses slowly began to
- 4:10change. Those who knew him believed that
- 4:13he had done a complete shift in his entire personality, all just
- 4:18within months. So much so that he became
- 4:22unrecognizable not only to his close friends, but to his family
- 4:27as well. His kindness, compassion, and
- 4:31care all seemed to have been buried, and someone new now
- 4:36greeted them each day behind the eyes of Ulysses.
- 4:42He quickly became prone to fits of rage and insanity.
- 4:46This led him to become abusive towards his once beloved family,
- 4:51verbally as well as physically. These new bursts of rage,
- 4:56however, weren't reserved strictly for his family, though.
- 4:59He soon turned on friends and colleagues too.
- 5:03The sudden heel turn for Myers led him to losing his job after
- 5:07an altercation at his workplace. And shortly after this, despite
- 5:12how much he had cherished his family before, he stole what was
- 5:17left of his family's money and abandoned his wife and children
- 5:22by skipping town with a new found mistress.
- 5:26All of which was the polar opposite of the man that they
- 5:30thought they knew. Shatter beyond repair.
- 5:33The Myers family were left with open wounds upon their hearts
- 5:37and confusion in their minds. The only differing factor from
- 5:42their life before to what it was now was the fact that they had
- 5:46moved into this house. Now with the home claiming the
- 5:50destruction of two families, rumors quickly began to spread
- 5:54locally throughout Hartford City that the house contains some
- 5:59kind of curse. Whether it was upon the property
- 6:03or the land was uncertain. The Myers family soon moved out
- 6:08and due to the rumors, Missus Berger was unable to keep
- 6:11tenants to help support her and her surviving child.
- 6:16Thus, she was forced to sell the property at a fire sale rate in
- 6:20order to start somewhere new. What happened to the Berger's is
- 6:25unknown. With this sale, a revolving door
- 6:29of tenants and owners would begin.
- 6:32As soon as one family would move in, they would almost
- 6:35immediately move out again and again this cycle would continue.
- 6:42It would go. From being lived in by a family,
- 6:45to being rented out and built on to eventually creating its
- 6:49triplex design that we know today.
- 6:53Those who had moved in and out often reported experiencing
- 6:58bizarre activity and others simply just didn't say anything,
- 7:04possibly not wanting to come to grips with the reality of what
- 7:08they had been through. This ever changing list of
- 7:11tenants would continue for decades.
- 7:16Along with this revolving door of people came a revolving door
- 7:20of peculiar behaviors and practices.
- 7:24Rumors began to circulate in the late 1980s and into the early
- 7:291990s that tenants during this time frame were performing
- 7:34occult rituals and ceremonies within the home, particularly
- 7:39within the basement black magic rituals and ceremonies.
- 7:47Those conducting them attempted to harness the negative energy
- 7:50that dwelled there to conjure a demon to do their bidding.
- 7:55Although information is limited, one could assume that perhaps
- 8:00their efforts were successful. From the mid 90s onward, the
- 8:06strangeness that surrounds the house on Monroe St. only
- 8:10intensified with new stories coming from new tenants and
- 8:15neighbors alike. Stories that this old Victorian
- 8:20home housed a dark and malevolent force.
- 8:25These stories soon began to spread like wildfire.
- 8:28Those who would move into the house typically would only last
- 8:32in the home a year or less. They often fled in the middle of
- 8:37the night with nothing but the clothes upon their backs, only
- 8:42continuing to solidify that something evil dwelled within
- 8:46the house. Things in fact got so bad that
- 8:50even when the home was abandoned for a time, the windows would be
- 8:54blacked out in order to keep people from looking inside.
- 8:58But not because of vandalism problems, but due to so many
- 9:02neighbors and passer bys calling the police claiming that they
- 9:07kept seeing shadowy figures walk around the interior of the
- 9:11Monroe House. With the home providing a
- 9:15plethora of paranormal evidence and experiences, this soon drew
- 9:20the attention of paranormal scholars and investigation
- 9:24groups from all over the country.
- 9:28This is just some of the activity said to have been
- 9:31experienced by various groups over the years.
- 9:35People have reported a vast amount of supernatural
- 9:38happenings, many of which have been caught on film, photo or
- 9:43digital audio recording. These range from aggressive and
- 9:48insulting Evps or electronic voice phenomena to full bodied
- 9:53apparitions, shadow figures, and possibly in human
- 9:58manifestations. Mysterious sounds like knocking,
- 10:03banging, and footsteps are common doors and cabinets
- 10:09slamming shut with incredible amounts of force, and most of
- 10:14the activity seems to be centered around the basement as
- 10:18well as the top floor. And the top floor is speculated
- 10:23to be the place where the fire had started that engulfed the
- 10:27Berger family. The basement, of course, is
- 10:30where the alleged black magic rituals took place.
- 10:35In both of these locations, an eerie, shadowy specter of an
- 10:40old, malicious woman is said to attack people.
- 10:44But just who could this entity be?
- 10:47Someone who had previously lived there, or something inhuman
- 10:51cloaking itself and some kind of familiar skin?
- 10:56Stories of groups panicking and fleeing too have become
- 11:00commonplace. 1 Paranormal Group, which wishes to remain anonymous
- 11:06in 2014, had such a disturbing experience that they fled the
- 11:11home and fear for their lives. They arrived on site at the
- 11:16Monroe House amidst a strong thunderstorm, unpacking their
- 11:21vehicle, attempting to keep their equipment dry and safe.
- 11:26They made their way inside and in due time began documenting
- 11:30whatever they could find there. As they investigated, asking
- 11:35questions, provoking interaction and recording level by level,
- 11:42the more activity they began to experience, shadows moved out of
- 11:48the corner of their eyes. Bangs knocking and cabinets
- 11:54slamming shut could be discerned from the reverb of the Thunder
- 11:59outside. But it's when they decided to go
- 12:02down to the basement that their lives would be altered forever.
- 12:08As they descended the stairs, an eerie cold began to overtake
- 12:13them. As they asked their questions,
- 12:17attempting to catch any activity they could, their flashlights
- 12:22and devices failed. Left with only the enveloping
- 12:27darkness, with the occasional flash of lightning coming
- 12:31through the basement windows, something appeared to them that
- 12:35caused them to flee immediately. But just what or who was this
- 12:42apparition? This cannot be confirmed.
- 12:47Whatever it was terrified them so much that they fled into the
- 12:51torrential downpour and refused to ever return later when asked
- 12:57for details. Even separately, the members of
- 13:01the group thus far have refused to discuss the incident further.
- 13:06Whether this is out of fear for whatever this thing is or was re
- 13:10entering their lives, or the mere thought is so reality
- 13:14shattering, 1 cannot be sure. This incident in its aftermath
- 13:20truly makes you wonder just what they could have saw within the
- 13:23dilapidated, damp basement that occurs tonight.
- 13:29Investigations will continue with multiple groups coming in
- 13:32and out until a very peculiar discovery took place in 2016 and
- 13:39this discovery would lead to much speculation as to what
- 13:43could have happened within the house.
- 13:46While conducting an investigation for their show
- 13:48Paranormal Lockdown, Nick Groff and Katrina Weirdman found
- 13:53themselves in the basement and were slowly being drawn to the
- 13:57crawl space of the house as they traverse the damp darkness.
- 14:02What they would find would alter the story forever.
- 14:06Located within the crawl space were human remains, bones buried
- 14:13in a shallow grave. This freaked the entire crew out
- 14:18and prompted them to stop filming and to call the police
- 14:21immediately. From here, a full scale
- 14:24investigation would be conducted and the remains excavated and
- 14:30sent to a local coroner there in Indiana for further examination.
- 14:35The bones were indeed confirmed to be human and were quote at
- 14:40least 100 years old, possibly older.
- 14:44Following the coroner, they were sent to Indiana University for
- 14:48further testing to determine the age and identification of the
- 14:52person. At this point, the final outcome
- 14:56has not yet been reported, such as the age of the individual
- 15:00found or their identity or potential cause of death.
- 15:05The presumed investigation is still underway.
- 15:09Let's put a brief pause on people being allowed to enter
- 15:12the now privately owned home. But that pause has since been
- 15:16lifted with many more investigations taking place over
- 15:20the years since. And with these investigations,
- 15:25even more paranormal activity, and aggressive activity at that,
- 15:30has been reported. These investigations also range
- 15:34from amateur to professional, from the average Joe to
- 15:39Youtubers and famous paranormal teams.
- 15:44Those who have entered the walls of the Monroe Demon House have
- 15:48experienced an addition to previously mentioned activity.
- 15:53Strange sights, smells and feelings.
- 15:58Demonic snarls, growls, and even full blown attacks have
- 16:02happened, and these have involved scratching, biting and
- 16:08being shoved. Often times these more intense
- 16:12manifestations are accompanied with aggressive and commanding
- 16:16Evps where people's names are often used.
- 16:21Windows slamming shoves so much force that they shatter, leaving
- 16:26fragments of glass all over the floor, just like the fragments
- 16:30left of the lives of the families who once dwelt there
- 16:35has also happened one previous owner of the home allegedly even
- 16:41jumped out a window on the top floor upon being attacked by a
- 16:46demonic apparition. Imagine that for a moment you're
- 16:51so terrified that you would rather risk diving through a
- 16:54window at the top of your house, breaking it ultimately, let
- 17:00alone falling however far and injuring yourself at a pure fear
- 17:06and fight or flight instead of dealing with whatever this thing
- 17:10was that was attacking you, rushing towards you.
- 17:15That, to me, is bone chilling. Others who have stayed more
- 17:19recently have also reported puddles of strange liquid
- 17:23throughout the house at varying times and with seemingly no
- 17:28origin, horrific nightmares if they managed to sleep, and why
- 17:34you would ever choose to sleep there is beyond me.
- 17:38And even strange footprints or paw prints such as this one have
- 17:43also been discovered multiple times.
- 17:47So with all of these high strangeness manifestations, we
- 17:51must ask ourselves, just what is it that lurks within the Monroe
- 17:56Demon House? Could it have been a curse
- 17:59placed upon the land? Something that predated the
- 18:02building of the house? It's certainly possible, in my
- 18:07opinion, to somewhat back up that claim.
- 18:10Native American artifacts such as arrowheads have been found
- 18:14around the property, but nothing significant that would indicate
- 18:18some kind of a curse. No burial grounds or mounds from
- 18:24what I could find. What if it was a generational or
- 18:28family curse? Again, it's possible, but seems
- 18:33somewhat unlikely. From what I've seen, the Berger
- 18:36family, up until the home was built, had great success in
- 18:40their endeavors and for all intents and purposes, seemed
- 18:44happy and thriving. Until, of course, they weren't.
- 18:49Then there's the enigma of the Myers family.
- 18:52Did Ulysses Myers lose his mind due to the home?
- 18:56One could certainly make that connection considering his
- 18:59complete shift in personality, but what was it in particular
- 19:03that caused him to change so drastically?
- 19:06This question and more we may never truly be able to answer.
- 19:12All we can do is speculate. Then the numerous owners and
- 19:18tenants over the decades since the days of the Burgers and
- 19:22Myers, many of them reporting odd and often scary paranormal
- 19:28or poltergeist activity. Was this activity also taking
- 19:32place when the older families lived there or did it start
- 19:36after their departure? If this was the case, if it
- 19:41started afterwards, was it the result of negative events
- 19:45attracting something dark, or was one of the families or
- 19:49family members involved in the occult?
- 19:53And Speaking of occult, just who or what were those people in the
- 19:58late 80s and to the early 90s doing?
- 20:02What kind of black magic or rituals were conducted and were
- 20:07they responsible for conjuring some kind of entity into the
- 20:10home? Or did their practices just make
- 20:15the entire situation much worse? And did it have anything to do
- 20:19with the human remains that were found in the basement?
- 20:23And if not the Black Mages closer to modern times, someone
- 20:28in the early 1900s had to have known just who this person was
- 20:32and what happened to them. And of course, will the identity
- 20:37and cause of death ever be determined for the poor soul
- 20:41whose remains were found within the basement?
- 20:44As you ponder all of these questions and attempt to draw
- 20:47your own conclusions, I want to leave you with several final
- 20:52questions. Will the activity ever cease?
- 20:57And will the origin ever truly be determined?
- 21:01All of these questions honestly may not have answers.
- 21:05Perhaps they're out of our scope of understanding, or perhaps the
- 21:10answers have just simply been lost to the sands of time, but
- 21:15one thing I can say for certain is this.
- 21:20Given how many? People have experienced dark and
- 21:23spine tingling paranormal activity within this house, and
- 21:27taking into account how long it has been occurring, this is 1
- 21:32home that has truly earned the name the Demon House because a
- 21:38demon is precisely what may just be lurking.
- 21:43Within its depths, mere days after the Lee family had settled
- 21:50into their new abode nestled amongst the Pines, they are
- 21:55confronted with paranormal happenings.
- 22:00Initially, the disturbances seem harmless, as the couple's two
- 22:05young sons began to voice concerns about peculiar lights
- 22:09flickering in their rooms and eerie shadows dancing across the
- 22:14walls. But the situation takes an
- 22:17ominous turn when Steve and Beth themselves bear witness to
- 22:22disturbing and terrifying events.
- 22:27This is the untold story of the haunted House of the Black
- 22:31Forest in Colorado. There's an undeniable, almost
- 22:51supernatural call to the eerie and the unexplained that seems
- 22:56to emanate from the depths of dense Woodlands.
- 23:02The Black Forest, a vast expanse of towering trees and shadowy
- 23:08undergrowth, has been a breeding ground for creepy tales of the
- 23:13otherworldly. Amidst this foreboding landscape
- 23:17lies a dilapidated house, its weathered walls and creaking
- 23:22floorboards harboring secrets that have captured the
- 23:26imagination of paranormal enthusiasts across the nation.
- 23:33This isolated dwelling nestled deep within the Colorado
- 23:37wilderness has earned A reputation as one of the most
- 23:42haunted sites in the United States, its very existence A
- 23:47testament to the enduring power of mystery and the unknown.
- 23:54The region referred to as the Black Forest is an
- 23:58unincorporated area situated in El Paso County, Colorado,
- 24:04nestled near the city of Colorado Springs.
- 24:08This area was traditionally known as the Pineries, a vast
- 24:12expanse spanning over 1000 miles.
- 24:16Aptly named for the dense concentration of majestic
- 24:21ponderosa pine trees that blanketed the landscape.
- 24:26The Black Forest's remote and secluded nature, coupled with
- 24:30its towering evergreens and rugged wilderness, has long
- 24:35captivated those seeking solitude and a connection with
- 24:39the untamed beauty of nature. The secluded log cabin, nestled
- 24:44deep within the Black Forest region of Colorado, seemed like
- 24:49a tranquil Oasis for the Lee family when they first laid eyes
- 24:53on it in 1991. Stephen and Beth, along with
- 24:58their two sons, had relocated from Louisiana, seeking A serene
- 25:03escape amidst the towering Pines and pristine wilderness.
- 25:08The sparsely populated area, known for its slow paced
- 25:12lifestyle, crisp air, and breathtaking vistas, promised a
- 25:17dream home surrounded by untouched nature.
- 25:22Little did they know that this idyllic retreat would soon
- 25:26become a source of explicable occurrences and unsettling
- 25:30experiences that would forever alter their perception of the
- 25:35supernatural. About the Lees.
- 25:40Steven Lee, a father, husband and truck driver, had done well
- 25:45for his family and wanting a change of scenery, they found
- 25:51what they believed to be their dream home.
- 25:55A6000. Square foot, three story cabin
- 25:59located within the Black Forest, situated on five acres of land.
- 26:06Steven and his wife Beth, with every step as they surveyed the
- 26:11property could envision their two young sons playing and
- 26:16growing up there. Their own little piece of the
- 26:19American dream. So it took a little bit of time,
- 26:25but their offer on the home was ultimately accepted and within
- 26:29the coming months, they would soon call this secluded place
- 26:33home. However, they would fail to
- 26:37realize that it wasn't just inhabited by the family of four.
- 26:43The first week at their new residence seemed like something
- 26:46out of a fairy tale. Mom, dad, and the kids were all
- 26:52comfortable and very happy after making the long trek from
- 26:57Louisiana to Colorado. The family themselves seemed
- 27:02happy and content with their decision.
- 27:06However, this would change. The Lee's two young sons shared
- 27:12a room, as brothers often do at a young age, and roughly after
- 27:18their first week, they began to tell their parents that
- 27:21something strange was happening in their bedroom.
- 27:25Bright, colorful lights flashed about and terrifying shadowy
- 27:31spectres flowed across their walls.
- 27:36These strange happenings frightened the boys and often
- 27:39kept them awake. So of course, they told their
- 27:43parents. However, often in these
- 27:46situations they were dismissed. Beth and Steve simply believed
- 27:52that the boys had overactive imaginations and figured it
- 27:57would just take time for them to adjust their new environment.
- 28:01But this too would change mere weeks later.
- 28:06Upon coming home from an evening of fun as a family, they would
- 28:10arrive to see their home lighting inside with strange
- 28:15lightning like flashes of light. They could see the spectacle
- 28:19from their driveway. In the words of Beth.
- 28:24One day we came home and it was like the 4th of July.
- 28:29In our living room and bedroom. We had all sorts of colorful
- 28:34flashes of light seemingly everywhere.
- 28:38We rushed inside to figure out just what these things were and
- 28:42simultaneously it sounded like people were stomping across our
- 28:47roof and all of a sudden it stopped.
- 28:53Never having seen anything like this before, the Lees were
- 28:57simply perplexed and not sure of what to make of this activity.
- 29:02They would lay their heads down to sleep this night, but what
- 29:06they failed to realize is that this was just a prelude of what
- 29:11was to come. In the coming months, the
- 29:15activity grew in intensity. What started as phantom lights
- 29:20and flickering shadows had escalated into something taking
- 29:24place almost every single day. From disembodied banging sounds
- 29:31to whispers, the sound of chains dragging on the floor or even
- 29:37inside the walls, to pushing, assaulting and disturbing the
- 29:43family. Sadly, the Lee's young sons were
- 29:48more often than not the targets of this paranormal force that
- 29:52plagued them night after night. And almost every night they were
- 29:57harassed by shadow people, the reappearance of the mysterious
- 30:02lights, and the awful banging sounds of something unseen.
- 30:08The family did their best to make the situation work.
- 30:13They, after all, were newly tied up financially in the purchase
- 30:16of what they believed was going to be their forever home.
- 30:21But it was something big or small nearly every day now that
- 30:24was taking place during the day, Appliances began to turn on and
- 30:30off on their own accord. This was attributed to an
- 30:34electrical issue at first, but after having the home examined
- 30:38by multiple electricians, they found no faulty wiring.
- 30:44Alongside electrical appliances, faucets began to turn on by
- 30:48themselves, often making a wet mess in whatever room they were
- 30:53activated in During the night. The re emergence of the lights,
- 30:59movement of the shadow people and the sounds truly haunted
- 31:04them and these disturbing happenings were soon coupled by
- 31:09something new and equally terrible.
- 31:13A noxious chemical odor began to appear in the home with no
- 31:19rational origin. The smell of these mystery
- 31:23chemicals burned the nose, eyes and throats of everyone whenever
- 31:29it appeared. In the coming days, yet more
- 31:33professionals would be called out, and yet nothing, no origin
- 31:38of the chemicals or detection of them either, could be found.
- 31:44It seemed that whatever force that dwelled within the walls of
- 31:48the cabin home in the woods had a particular hatred for the Lee
- 31:53family, and this force soon began to physically hit all of
- 31:57them, seemingly whenever it could, often leaving bruises.
- 32:03Not a believer in the paranormal, Steve Lee having had
- 32:08professionals come out and not provide any rational answers to
- 32:12their strange ailments. This, coupled with the now daily
- 32:17torment that he and his family were enduring, had finally
- 32:21reached his wit's end. He wanted to prove that either
- 32:25there was someone or something messing with them, and over the
- 32:30coming year he invested in a total of $70,000 worth of camera
- 32:36equipment and security equipment to monitor every square inch of
- 32:42their home and property. Now you might think that that's
- 32:46an incredible amount of money to spend on cameras and alarm
- 32:49systems, and it is, but this was the 90's.
- 32:54The equipment wasn't as readily available or sophisticated as it
- 32:58is today, and it just goes to show that they were truly
- 33:02freaked out by whatever was taking place, that they wanted
- 33:06some kind of tangible proof that they could show the world so
- 33:11people didn't think that they were crazy.
- 33:14The cameras, which were mostly motion activated and would
- 33:18record when motion was detected, soon began to activate with no
- 33:23rational explanation and no physical means to be detected.
- 33:30After capturing several strange things on video and photograph,
- 33:35Steve decided to contact the local authorities for help.
- 33:39Records show that the El Paso police were contacted so often
- 33:44by the leaves in the months to come that they launched a formal
- 33:48investigation into just what was taking place at the cabin home
- 33:53in the Black Forest. During this time and the two
- 33:58years to follow, alongside the cameras, their security
- 34:02equipment, which could detect motion and forced entry, was
- 34:07triggered 62 times with no explanation as to what could be
- 34:13causing it. It wasn't faulty equipment or
- 34:17poor installation. It was oddly something else,
- 34:21something unexplainable. With not even the police able to
- 34:25rationalize what was happening to the Lees, Beth and Steve
- 34:29decided to take things one step further.
- 34:33They hired a private investigator.
- 34:36This was in part due to the police also growing tiresome of
- 34:40being contacted for assistance and then there being nothing
- 34:43that they could do about it. Between the cameras and security
- 34:48equipment and now hiring a private investigator, the Lees
- 34:53had all but spent the rest of their life savings.
- 34:57Most people, if it ever came to this, would simply try and cut
- 35:01their losses and sell the home, and we don't know if the lease
- 35:06could have sold the home and moved elsewhere, but they truly
- 35:10still believed that this massive cabin home was their dream home
- 35:15and they didn't want to give it up without a fight.
- 35:18Unfortunately though, the private investigator was unable
- 35:22to help them. This left the Lees to simply
- 35:25tough out anything and everything that they had and
- 35:29were continuing to experience. After moving in in 1991, the
- 35:36year now was 1995 and the activity had persisted despite
- 35:42the efforts of the Lee family to uncover just what was causing
- 35:46it. Steve, who still figured there
- 35:49had to be a rational explanation for what was taking place, had a
- 35:54little bit more of an open mind. After a lengthy discussion with
- 35:57Beth, seemingly having done everything else, the Lee's
- 36:02concluded that they would try and contact paranormal
- 36:05investigators to see if they could do anything about the
- 36:09otherworldly happenings taking place in their home.
- 36:13After some research in calling numerous numbers, the Lee's
- 36:17ended up getting in contact with the person who would end up
- 36:21being involved with the television show Sightings.
- 36:26Sightings was an American paranormal and new show that
- 36:29aired throughout the 1990s covering various unexplained and
- 36:34French phenomena. As a result of this pretty lucky
- 36:38interaction, the show became very interested in producing an
- 36:42episode segment about hauntings surrounding the investigation of
- 36:46the Lee Hung. The show would contact a
- 36:49paranormal investigator in a self-proclaimed psychic in
- 36:53Minneapolis, MN named Echo Bodine from her book The Little
- 36:59Book of True Ghost Stories. Echo would explain her
- 37:03experience as the following. I got a call from the TV show
- 37:08Sightings and they wanted to know if I would fly to Colorado
- 37:12Springs to help a family deal with some ghosts.
- 37:17The producers told me that the problem was the ghost mostly
- 37:20seemed to come out at night. So I was asked to work from
- 37:24midnight until the early Daybreak hours.
- 37:28It was a very hot day in mid-july When I arrived in
- 37:31Denver around 10:00 PM. It was pretty eerie.
- 37:36There was intense lightning all throughout the sky and rain
- 37:40pouring down. I remember thinking how perfect
- 37:44the spooky weather was for investigating hauntings.
- 37:48Steve, the owner of the log home, was at the airport to pick
- 37:52me up. He was very open about not
- 37:55believing in ghosts, and as we drove through several towns in
- 37:59Colorado, I listened to him tell me story after story about some
- 38:05of the things that had gone on in their house.
- 38:08They heard voices, footsteps, things would move from room to
- 38:14room. It took close to an hour to get
- 38:17up to their house in the mountains and alongside the
- 38:20rain, a fog hung about 10 feet off the ground.
- 38:25When we arrived and I entered their three story log cabin home
- 38:30from here, I was greeted by a producer who asked me if I could
- 38:34take a seat while the scientist they had hired told us about his
- 38:39thermal camera. Having been tired from the trip.
- 38:43I laid my head back while the explanations were continuing and
- 38:48suddenly I heard a voice come from behind me.
- 38:52It said, hey, come here. Upon turning around I saw a
- 38:59large ghostly man about 6 feet tall.
- 39:04The specter was wearing blue jeans and a blue checkered
- 39:07flannel shirt. I then heard in unison multiple
- 39:11voices tell me to look over here and now.
- 39:16There was 5 male spirits, all different but dressed the same
- 39:21as the first. The original ghost said that his
- 39:24name was Tom and that this was his house and that no one was
- 39:30going to make him leave. He ran the show around here and
- 39:35had for a long time. I told the producer what was
- 39:39happening in case he wanted to capture anything for the segment
- 39:43and he did. The conversation then ensued
- 39:48with Tom explaining why he and the boys wanted to stay in the
- 39:51house, that it was his land, his home, and that he would not
- 39:58leave. One of the cameramen then asked
- 40:01if it was one of them who'd been responsible for knocking over
- 40:05his very expensive camera off the countertop.
- 40:09All 5 in unison answered yes and then disappeared out of sight.
- 40:15The scientist with the thermal camera did in fact capture a
- 40:19drop in temperature just right where Tom had stood around 2:00
- 40:25AM in the morning. As me and Beth discussed the
- 40:28activity that she had experienced, the dogs the family
- 40:33owned would not stop barking outside.
- 40:37The producers, in an effort to keep their sounds from being
- 40:40picked up on the camera, tried to quiet them down, but simply
- 40:45weren't having any luck. Then upon Beth showing me a
- 40:49photo of what they had captured on their own cameras, we
- 40:53suddenly were in the midst 3 male spirits, one with a
- 40:58particularly angry scowl upon his face.
- 41:03One of them walked through both of us causing us to jump out of
- 41:07our chairs while the other angry looking spirit tried to take my
- 41:13breath away. I believe he did.
- 41:16This to stoke fear from me in order to grow more powerful.
- 41:20And this worked because I felt as if I was being suffocated by
- 41:263:30 AM. We all decided to not focus on
- 41:30ghosts for a bit and to try and lighten the mood.
- 41:34We turned the cameras off and began eating some food in which
- 41:38Beth had prepared for us. But almost as soon as we began
- 41:42to relax, one of the camera women who'd been sitting on the
- 41:47stairs began to hyperventilate. She then jumped up and screamed.
- 41:53Get it out of me. As she fell down the stairs and
- 41:58onto the floor, writhing in pain, the producers asked for me
- 42:03to do something. So with the assistance of
- 42:06others, I helped her up and into a chair in the kitchen, and I
- 42:12began to burn sage encircling her in the smoke.
- 42:18I asked her to say back to me that she was clear until she
- 42:22calmed down. It took about 20 minutes, but
- 42:27she eventually relaxed. She then was given a ride back
- 42:32to the hotel and I never saw or heard from her again.
- 42:37By now it was 4:30 AM and we were waiting for the camera crew
- 42:42of the show to finish setting up their equipment in the bedrooms
- 42:46where the majority of activity was seeming to take place.
- 42:50One of Steve's friends, who had been present most of the night,
- 42:54came up and handed me a brochure about the history of the local
- 42:59area. To my surprise, he told me that
- 43:03a man named Tom had been the sheriff here back in the 1800s.
- 43:09I felt shivers up my spine as I realized that this was the same
- 43:14Tom that now haunted the Lee's home.
- 43:18Roughly 5:00 AM, as we set off to investigate the last bedroom,
- 43:23I walked into the room and saw there in the rocking chair in
- 43:27the corner who would turn out to be Beth's deceased grandmother.
- 43:32And on the opposite side of the room was Tom and the several
- 43:37male spirits under his control. We ended up burning sage and
- 43:42asking them all to move on to the other side.
- 43:46They all did leave the building, but I'm not convinced that they
- 43:50moved on. At about 6:00 AM, we finally
- 43:54finished saging the entire house.
- 43:57Exhausted, we packed up our equipment and went back to our
- 44:02respective hotels. I've spoken to Steve and Beth
- 44:06since and they informed me that activity at the cabin persisted
- 44:10shortly after our departure and that although not fully
- 44:14convinced, Steve is convinced that there are things in this
- 44:18world that we will never truly understand.
- 44:22Sightings would do a follow up episode segment years later with
- 44:26the Lees or they brought in several spiritualists and an
- 44:30expert in hyperdimensional studies and all would come to
- 44:35the conclusion that the home was indeed haunted.
- 44:39The expert would draw the conclusion that the home sat
- 44:42atop an interdimensional vortex and coinciding with his
- 44:47conclusion. Interestingly, A Hopi elder from
- 44:51the local area would also explain that the Black Forest
- 44:55sits on top what the Hopi call a rainbow vortex, a raging storm,
- 45:02a portal of sorts that contains great spiritual energy and the
- 45:07coming and going of many souls. Sometimes they burn out over
- 45:13time and sometimes they don't. They are considered gateways
- 45:19between the world of the living and the spirit realm.
- 45:23Some strange and noteworthy things that took place during
- 45:27the second filming of the show Sightings at the Lee's residence
- 45:31was that a paranormal investigator had asked anyone if
- 45:35the name Howard bore any significance to them.
- 45:38The Lee's were surprised because one of their best friends in
- 45:41Colorado Springs was a man named Howard.
- 45:45The entity then told the investigator, who relayed the
- 45:48information to everyone, that he was Howard's son and that he in
- 45:53fact had not killed himself, but rather had been murdered.
- 46:00This disturbed the lease a great deal because Howard's son had
- 46:04supposedly taken his own life by consuming deadly chemicals
- 46:09working as a chemist. The stories and reputation of
- 46:14the home got such a local buzz from the press that even a
- 46:17Colorado Senator by the name of Charles Duke visited the home
- 46:22with his own camera crew and would snap a few photographic
- 46:26pieces of evidence of apparitions.
- 46:29To his and everyone else's surprise, Senator Duke was so
- 46:34convinced of the Lee's haunting that he even contacted the FBI
- 46:38to conduct a formal investigation, but the Bureau
- 46:42would rebuttal with no federal laws have been broken.
- 46:47Years later, after everything had happened, Steve Lee, who
- 46:52still wasn't fully convinced of the supernatural, came to his
- 46:57own conclusions as to what was taking place.
- 47:00And for the record, it's a wild theory.
- 47:05He began to believe that the government was using his family
- 47:09and their remote location to test biological agents and
- 47:15psychological weapons of war. He claims he has even
- 47:19photographed military personnel on his property with firearms
- 47:25and claims that they may have been shutting off the
- 47:27electricity in his home so they could enter undetected.
- 47:32These claims, although far fetched, would be incredibly
- 47:36disturbing if true, and it would account for the noxious odors
- 47:40the family said they were experiencing, as well as the
- 47:44lights and some sounds. But oddly enough as well, the
- 47:50Air Force Base is located just a few minutes away from where the
- 47:55Lees live. The Lees, as far as we know
- 47:59after placing the home for sale in 2010, no longer live there.
- 48:04The current residents are unknown, but it seems as if the
- 48:08property has changed hands multiple times.
- 48:12Whether it was ghosts, the result of what the Hopi call a
- 48:16rainbow vortex, or more sinisterly, the result of
- 48:21government military Black Ops, The Haunting of Black Forest
- 48:26Colorado is truly an intriguing tale.
- 48:31And if you find yourself seduced by what you could consider your
- 48:35dream home, take caution because this calling might just be a
- 48:41siren sound. Don't let them take you.
- 48:48In the sleepy farming town of Kelly, Kentucky, nestled within
- 48:52rolling hills. In thick woods, an ordinary
- 48:57evening in August of 1955 unraveled into something
- 49:02extraordinary and horrifying. A farm stood as a modest haven
- 49:09amidst the rural expanse, it's tobacco fields stretching under
- 49:14a cloudless moonlit sky. That night, a family gathering
- 49:20had brought laughter and the comfort of kinship into a small
- 49:25farmhouse. But peace is a fragile thing,
- 49:30and in the quiet of night, it was shattered with a scream.
- 49:36I recently had the pleasure of interviewing the foremost
- 49:40authority on the Ghost and Me podcast, which is my new weekly
- 49:44podcast of what has become known as the Kelly Hopkinsville
- 49:49Goblins Case or Encounter author Geraldine Sutton Stith, the
- 49:56daughter of Cecil Lucky Sutton, who was present and intimately
- 50:02involved. With the encounter itself, I
- 50:05will link the full interview in the description as well as at
- 50:08the end of the video because it's truly a fascinating one and
- 50:13one that I was honored to be a part of along with my Co host
- 50:16Bob. With that being said.
- 50:20This video is a deep. Dive into the story itself,
- 50:23pulling from a variety of sources, but mostly Geraldine
- 50:27herself. Now let us begin.
- 50:33The year was 1955, in a place called Kelly, Kentucky.
- 50:39Kelly, a small town by any standards, was especially small
- 50:43at that time, boasting about 150 residents or so, with the main
- 50:50occupation of them all being farming.
- 50:53It was here that Glenny Langford, the grandmother of
- 50:57Geraldine and the mother of Cecil, owned a small farm
- 51:02measuring about 27 acres in size.
- 51:07The family, along with most, were poor but proud farmers.
- 51:13They grew tobacco and had several livestock animals there
- 51:17on the farm. Living alongside Glenny was her
- 51:21son Jesse and his wife Elaine, who helped run the farm.
- 51:26With their three. Children Mark, age 12, Lonnie,
- 51:32age 10, and Mary, who was 7. Jesse had recently came home
- 51:38from the Korean War and hadn't been home longer than a year or
- 51:42so. Adjusting back to civilian life
- 51:45had been hard for him, but working on the farm and looking
- 51:49after his family certainly helped.
- 51:52The particular weekend that so happened to coincide with the
- 51:57visit of Cecil and his first wife, Vera, as well as their
- 52:02friends Billy Ray and June Taylor, who were stationed in
- 52:08Evansville. They worked for a carnival at
- 52:11that time and it just so happened to be near enough to
- 52:15visit. A break from work sounded nice
- 52:19and who doesn't love some quality time with family and
- 52:21friends alongside some home cooking?
- 52:25So they would drive to the farm and spend Friday and Saturday
- 52:30together, enjoying the weekend. That Sunday.
- 52:35With Monday and their inevitable return to work incoming, the
- 52:39family was doing their best to enjoy the time that they had
- 52:42left together. Lenny, who was a very religious
- 52:46woman who had gone to a church service earlier in the day, was
- 52:50returning home together. The family ate supper and
- 52:55started to play cards after they had finished eating.
- 52:59The family didn't have plumbing at the farmhouse, so Billy Ray
- 53:03had gone out to the well to get some water.
- 53:06Stepping outside with Pale in hand, he soon hears something
- 53:11above him, something strange. There, in the sky before him, he
- 53:17sees a silver Oval shaped object with what he would later call
- 53:23the colors of the rainbow flowing behind it.
- 53:27Perplexed, he watches for a few seconds.
- 53:31The object, roughly 40 feet in the air or so, goes across the
- 53:36sky and then back behind the house itself and into the
- 53:41backfield. It then slowly descends and
- 53:45lands in the back goalie, going completely out of Billy Ray's
- 53:49sight. Not knowing what to make of what
- 53:52he had just seen, Billy Ray rushes into the house and starts
- 53:57telling everyone about what he had saw.
- 54:00Lenny tries to reason with him, telling him that he probably had
- 54:04just seen a shooting star, to which he would reply with no, I
- 54:10know what a shooting star is, and this was not it.
- 54:15There had been meteor showers going on earlier in the month,
- 54:18but not at this particular time. Cecil, noticing that Billy Ray
- 54:24was as wide as a ghost and sweating profusely, asked him to
- 54:29come with him back outside and explain to him exactly what he
- 54:34had seen. With both men now standing
- 54:37outside after Billy Ray motions to where the object had been and
- 54:43described it to Cecil or better known as Lucky.
- 54:47Lucky then tells Billy Ray that they should go look in the
- 54:50backfield that whatever it was was probably gone and that after
- 54:56they look and see that they should go back inside and enjoy
- 55:00what was left of the evening. But to both men, shock and
- 55:04amazement as they stepped behind the house headed towards the
- 55:09field before their very eyes. Emerging from that field was a
- 55:15small being. But this being is unlike
- 55:19anything they've ever seen before.
- 55:23And these were men who were very familiar with wildlife,
- 55:26especially around Kentucky. It was about 3 1/2 feet tall.
- 55:32It had a big roundhead, large glowing eyes, big pointed ears
- 55:40and long gangly arms that almost touched the ground.
- 55:45The being itself isn't walking with its legs, but rather it's
- 55:50floating above the grass headed towards them.
- 55:54Awestruck for a few seconds as the creature approaches them,
- 55:59the two then quickly run back to the house and rush inside,
- 56:04slamming the door behind them. Seeing the men rush inside
- 56:08startles the rest of the family, with most of them asking just
- 56:13what was wrong with them two. But as the men try to explain
- 56:17the seriousness of the situation, most of them think it
- 56:22was just some kind of joke. Considering these were people in
- 56:26their late teens and early 20s, most of the adults anyways, it
- 56:32wouldn't have been totally out of the realm of possibility or
- 56:35someone to pull a prank. However, they would quickly see
- 56:41this was indeed not the case. Glenny, deciding that she had
- 56:46heard enough, told everyone that the children needed to get to
- 56:51bed. A short while later, after
- 56:54laying them down to sleep, she sees Cecil standing at the front
- 56:59door next to Billy Ray. One has a shotgun and one has a
- 57:04rifle. Realizing that this wasn't some
- 57:07kind of prank, Glenny would ask Billy Ray, just what exactly did
- 57:13you see? You would then tell her that.
- 57:16Miss Glenny, I hope it's something that you never have to
- 57:21see. So she squats down there beside
- 57:24the two. It's a quiet night.
- 57:28There's a full. Moon and it's light is
- 57:31illuminating everything surrounding this small
- 57:34farmhouse. With this light, you can see
- 57:38nearly everything and there's an obvious tension.
- 57:43Everyone there is certainly on edge, especially Billy Ray, who
- 57:48seems to be jumping at every sound made in the shadows.
- 57:54While Glenny sits there, hearing the banter between everyone, she
- 57:59suddenly sees something that shakes her to her core.
- 58:03There, before her very eyes, she sees this small entity rounding
- 58:09the corner of the house. Its eyes are massive and
- 58:13glowing, as a matter of fact, its whole body seems
- 58:18bioluminescent. And as most of us would do, she
- 58:23lets out a blood curdling scream, chattering the quiet
- 58:28tension that had previously existed within the stillness of
- 58:33this strange night. Everybody quickly comes running
- 58:38to where she's at. She had been so startled that
- 58:42the shock had caused her to fall to the floor.
- 58:46Cecil or Lucky quickly helps her up, and she frantically tells
- 58:52him that I just saw it. There is something out here.
- 58:57As Glennie tries to explain what she saw in detail, her
- 59:02explanation is soon cut short by the rapturous sound a gun being
- 59:08fired. Running to the source, they find
- 59:12Jesse and he shot one through the window of the house.
- 59:17Billy Ray goes rushing out the front door, looking for anything
- 59:21out of the ordinary that could be a threat.
- 59:25As he's standing there below the little stoop over the front
- 59:28door, everyone else watching him soon sees a little clawed hand
- 59:36descend from the top of the stoop.
- 59:39This clawed hand then seems to try and grab his hair as the
- 59:44others scream. Before the hand can grab him,
- 59:48Lucky runs and grabs Billy Ray and pulls him into the house.
- 59:55He then rushes outside with his gun.
- 59:58There on top of the stoop is one of these large eyed beings.
- 1:00:04Without hesitation, being a country boy and all, Lucky
- 1:00:09raises his gun and shoots this creature.
- 1:00:14Bizarrely, however, when it's shot, he hears the impact and
- 1:00:20sees the creature roll, but instead of falling off the
- 1:00:25stoop, it slowly floats down to the ground instead.
- 1:00:31Following the shooting of this first creature, someone else
- 1:00:35screams that there's another one in the tree beside him.
- 1:00:39Turning around, Lucky then sees another one of these odd
- 1:00:43entities on one of the large trees branches.
- 1:00:48He then quickly acts again and he shoots.
- 1:00:52He hits it, and he hears the impact.
- 1:00:57When he hits it, as with the first one, it makes a pinging
- 1:01:01sound, like the bullet has hit something metallic.
- 1:01:07The creature then floats to the ground, rolls, and scurries off
- 1:01:14into the nearby Bush. They don't know what these
- 1:01:17things are. They're certainly not dying.
- 1:01:22They're getting up and rolling away.
- 1:01:25So what are they to do? What else can they do?
- 1:01:30All of the commotion, of course, woke the children up out of
- 1:01:33their sleep, and all the kids as well have now seen these
- 1:01:37creatures alongside the adults. Except for the youngest, June.
- 1:01:44She's absolutely petrified. She refuses to look, she's
- 1:01:50crying, she's screaming, and is hiding in the corner of the
- 1:01:55living room with all the children crying.
- 1:01:59These things, these creatures start coming up to the windows
- 1:02:06and doors. The family, although fear
- 1:02:11struck, do notice that if they keep the lights on, the
- 1:02:15creatures seem to stay in the darker shadows outside.
- 1:02:20That momentarily seems to keep them away from the house, but
- 1:02:24they seem to still keep coming up.
- 1:02:28Not knowing exactly what to do from here, Lenny suggests to
- 1:02:32Lucky that, well, if we quit shooting, maybe they'll stop
- 1:02:36coming up to the windows and doors.
- 1:02:39And Lucky replies with Mom. I don't know.
- 1:02:44I don't know what these things are, and I'm not about to let
- 1:02:48them in the house to find out. To add to the weirdness of the
- 1:02:52situation, when these beings would come up to the house, they
- 1:02:57had their little hands up in the air, almost as if they were
- 1:03:01surrendering, like they knew what that meant.
- 1:03:06Lenny even told Lucky that maybe something's wrong.
- 1:03:10They've got their hands up in the air.
- 1:03:13But Lucky would say that I don't care, Mom, we're not letting
- 1:03:18them in. We don't know what these are.
- 1:03:22And honestly, who can blame him? As this episode continued, Lucky
- 1:03:28tried to keep everyone calm. He told them we're going to
- 1:03:33Hopkinsville, we're going to try and get help and this is going
- 1:03:38to be OK. As he got them all quiet, and
- 1:03:43just as he thought it was the right time to run out the door,
- 1:03:46it would freeze in his tracks. They all of them would hear
- 1:03:51something peculiar, what they believed to be one of the
- 1:03:55creatures going across the tin roof.
- 1:04:00As it went across, its nails were clicking and scratching,
- 1:04:06making everyone's skin crawl and their hair stand on end.
- 1:04:13June started screaming again and then all of the kids began
- 1:04:17crying. Vera asked Lucky what are we
- 1:04:22going to do and he would tell her, listen we're going to get
- 1:04:27out of here, we're going to get help, just calm down.
- 1:04:32It takes some time but he once again manages to calm everyone
- 1:04:36down yet again. He then tells Billy Ray let's go
- 1:04:41out the back and take a quick look.
- 1:04:43But the two step out into the yard which is still glowing with
- 1:04:48the radiant light of the full moon.
- 1:04:51The two men are looking around, guns in hand.
- 1:04:55Billy Ray then turns around and grabs Lucky's arm and says look,
- 1:05:01there's one going up the side of the house.
- 1:05:05There before the men was indeed one of the oddities climbing up
- 1:05:08the house, headed toward the roof.
- 1:05:12Lucky the named his shotgun and pulled the trigger.
- 1:05:17He was successful. In hitting one of these things
- 1:05:20again, it. Fell to the ground and popped up
- 1:05:25and floated from the back of the house over to a fence post about
- 1:05:3140 feet away. Lucky then fires and hits this
- 1:05:36one a second time. Seeing this really gave the men
- 1:05:41pause. This thing floated in front of
- 1:05:44them across the yard like it defied the laws of physics.
- 1:05:49Lucky then tells Billy Ray let's get back in the house and let's
- 1:05:55try to get out of here. Just don't tell everyone what
- 1:05:58you saw. And he more than likely was
- 1:06:01saying this as to not further upset the family.
- 1:06:05However, when they go back inside, of course everyone
- 1:06:09inside had heard the gunshots. Glenny, demanding to know, asks
- 1:06:17what did you just shoot at, with Lucky replying it's OK and Billy
- 1:06:24Ray chiming in as well. We just had to shoot one of them
- 1:06:28off the house, but it's OK, we're OK.
- 1:06:34After the family is settled again, the night seems to get
- 1:06:38quiet. Nothing comes up to the windows
- 1:06:42or the doors. It's almost an eerie stillness.
- 1:06:48Lucky had thought maybe when he shot that one, but it had
- 1:06:52finally been injured. When it finally got to the fence
- 1:06:56post. When he had shot it again, it
- 1:06:59fell off. This time it didn't scurry off
- 1:07:04as quickly as before. So he was thinking maybe he had
- 1:07:09finally got one. Feeling like things had calmed
- 1:07:13down enough, everyone all together would rush to their
- 1:07:16trucks, load up in them, and start the trip straight to
- 1:07:21Hopkinsville, looking nervously behind them the whole way.
- 1:07:28They would make it there to the small police station in the
- 1:07:31middle of the night again. The year is 1955.
- 1:07:38There's just one officer on duty and suddenly 11 people ages 7 to
- 1:07:4550 burst in, utterly terrified. The officer is just awestruck.
- 1:07:54They're all trying to explain what happened.
- 1:07:58The officer tries to make sense of it all and says, wait a
- 1:08:02minute, you're telling me that you're shooting little men at
- 1:08:06your farm? To which Lucky responds with You
- 1:08:10don't understand what I'm trying to tell you.
- 1:08:14The officer telling them all to calm down says that he's going
- 1:08:18to call the chief. He dials on the phone and soon
- 1:08:23is on the line with Chief Russell Greenwell.
- 1:08:27He tells him call Fort Campbell Army base, which was about 10
- 1:08:32miles from Hopkinsville. Call the newspaper and see if
- 1:08:36you can get every state trooper that's out tonight find them and
- 1:08:41get them to Kelly. We're going to see what's
- 1:08:44really. Going on.
- 1:08:46The chief's wife overhears all of this too, but she gets up and
- 1:08:51goes with him. They then head to the station as
- 1:08:54well. When they arrive, they see 11
- 1:08:58terrified people. It's obvious that something has
- 1:09:02happened. The chief and his wife try to
- 1:09:06calm them within due time. All the additional authorities
- 1:09:11would arrive by the time they do, there's approximately 25
- 1:09:16people, including the police, military and reporters.
- 1:09:23There's soon a caravan of vehicles now headed to the small
- 1:09:27town of Kelly in the dead of this strange night, and they all
- 1:09:33arrive at the farm. They step out of their vehicles
- 1:09:37and immediately feel that something is off the place.
- 1:09:43The overall environment just feels creepy.
- 1:09:48As they search, some of the police officers see a glowing
- 1:09:52substance. On the ground around the back of
- 1:09:55the house, it was believed to be the spot where Lucky had shot
- 1:10:01one of the creatures. They run back there to look, but
- 1:10:06when they get close, the glow disappears.
- 1:10:11They call Chief. Greenwell over and he too looks
- 1:10:15at the spot. He says, well, I don't see any
- 1:10:19glow, but there's evidence that the grass is different in that
- 1:10:23spot than it is around it. They continue searching for
- 1:10:28about two to three hours, but nothing could be found.
- 1:10:34Glennie was beside herself. She was afraid to go.
- 1:10:38Back in the house, the chief would go up to her and say, Miss
- 1:10:43Glenny, I'm so sorry, but there's nothing here.
- 1:10:48Nothing, except for evidence that y'all did some shooting.
- 1:10:52And indeed, rifle and shotgun shells were all over the outside
- 1:10:56of the house and even in the inside of the house.
- 1:11:00The woodwork was shot up, screens were shot through.
- 1:11:05There was nothing there to show what they had shot at.
- 1:11:10So with nothing left to do, the authorities would go ahead and
- 1:11:14leave. Lenny was left there with the
- 1:11:17rest of the family, with nobody. Else to help if these things
- 1:11:22came back and she was truly hoping that they wouldn't
- 1:11:27return. Once the family is back inside,
- 1:11:32it does take some time yet again, but the kids eventually
- 1:11:36settle down. And finally head back to bed.
- 1:11:40Lucky sits in a rocking chair beside Glenny with a shotgun
- 1:11:44across his lap. They're all exhausted, both
- 1:11:48physically. And mentally, Glenny closes her
- 1:11:53eyes, trying to get some rest. But then something, and she's
- 1:11:58not sure what, causes her to open them yet again.
- 1:12:03Air before her or her horror. One of these creatures is yet
- 1:12:09again at the window, thinking that she's just tired and
- 1:12:13possibly hallucinating, and then closes her eyes again.
- 1:12:17But when she opens them for a second time and this bang, this
- 1:12:23being is still standing there. It's at this time that she
- 1:12:27screams to Lucky that they're back.
- 1:12:31Everyone then jumps up once again.
- 1:12:34They're trying to keep these creatures out of the house, and
- 1:12:38these efforts would continue until around 4:30 or 5:00 AM in
- 1:12:43the morning. But as the family struggled with
- 1:12:47the morning sun starting to come up, the creatures seemingly out
- 1:12:52of nowhere disappeared. In the words of Geraldine's
- 1:12:57sudden stiff. So sure enough, when that bright
- 1:13:01sunshine came up, they disappeared.
- 1:13:05Mom and dad got the family down and he told them all.
- 1:13:09He says, listen, he says, I heard them last night.
- 1:13:12They were laughing at us. No good can come of this, so
- 1:13:16don't even say another word about it.
- 1:13:17We're just going to have to go on with our lives, forget this
- 1:13:21ever happened. And Vera asked him and says,
- 1:13:22well, well, how are we supposed to forget this?
- 1:13:26He says, I know it's going to be hard.
- 1:13:28I don't know, but we got to forget this happened.
- 1:13:33What followed the events of August 21st of 1955 would
- 1:13:38effectively be a circus of unwanted publicity and tourism.
- 1:13:45A massive amount of people would descend upon the Sutton Farm and
- 1:13:49make this case infamous. For better or for worse.
- 1:13:56And so, you know, word got out. I mean, it was, it had gotten
- 1:14:00out. It didn't take long at all.
- 1:14:01Everybody from everywhere was coming from everywhere wanting
- 1:14:05to see the little beans and camping out in the yard and
- 1:14:07wanting to talk to the family. And they got no rest.
- 1:14:13Of course, my dad and Billy Ray and the girls had to go back to
- 1:14:16work. They were able to stay another
- 1:14:18day or two, but then they had to leave and my grandmother was
- 1:14:22going to be left there, you know, her three kids and Uncle
- 1:14:25JC and Aunt Eileen. Would they be able to take care
- 1:14:27of, you know, these things if they were to come back?
- 1:14:31Because that was the big fear, Would they come back?
- 1:14:36Why were they there in the 1st place?
- 1:14:38And if they didn't get what they wanted the first time, would
- 1:14:40they come back to get it? You know, that was a fear in
- 1:14:43Kelly. People that lived around there
- 1:14:45had this fear. My mom lived in Kelly with her
- 1:14:48first husband and seven kids at the time.
- 1:14:52And she says it was terrifying. Everyone was scared.
- 1:14:57Well, my grandmother thought the best of it.
- 1:14:58And she sold the farm within two weeks and moved into
- 1:15:01Hopkinsville to an apartment complex.
- 1:15:03So did my uncle JC and Aunt Eileen got out of there because
- 1:15:08she was afraid. She didn't know what else to do.
- 1:15:10She didn't want to leave her farm.
- 1:15:13But you know, she was terrified. Geraldine herself goes in depth
- 1:15:19not only of the encounter itself, but lots of additional
- 1:15:22details surrounding it as well as the circus that followed.
- 1:15:27In my interview with her on the Ghost and Me podcast, which I'll
- 1:15:31link here as well as in the description below, I would
- 1:15:35further explain the details. But she just adds so much
- 1:15:39herself that it would be an injustice not to let you hear it
- 1:15:42from the horse's mouth, so to speak.
- 1:15:46What is ultimately important to remember is that this was a
- 1:15:49family. They didn't ask for this to
- 1:15:52happen. They didn't seek financial
- 1:15:55compensation or try to make a spectacle in order to profit in
- 1:16:00any. Way.
- 1:16:02They simply were overwhelmed by what they were experiencing
- 1:16:05together and sought help through appropriate means.
- 1:16:10A publicity or potential publicity would have been an
- 1:16:14afterthought. Again, Geraldine very much goes
- 1:16:17in depth on this as well as how the night affected her father as
- 1:16:22well as other members of her family.
- 1:16:24In our interview and between the interview, as well as diving
- 1:16:28into some of Geraldine's books surrounding the case and doing
- 1:16:32my own research online, I did find another case that is eerily
- 1:16:36similar in some respects, albeit not in Appalachia.
- 1:16:42I wanted to share it with you before giving my thoughts on the
- 1:16:44case as a whole. In July of 1692, amidst the
- 1:16:50turmoil of the Salem Witch Trials, the town of Gloucester,
- 1:16:54MA experienced a series of mysterious events that left its
- 1:17:00residents both alarmed and perplexed.
- 1:17:04For approximately 2 weeks, the town was reportedly besieged by
- 1:17:09enigmatic figures, believed to be the spectral apparitions of
- 1:17:13indigenous people and Frenchmen emerging from the swamps and
- 1:17:19cornfields. These entities approached the
- 1:17:22local Garrison, often in groups. Attempts to defend against them
- 1:17:27proved futile. Firearms frequently misfired,
- 1:17:31and when they did discharge, bullets seemed to have no
- 1:17:35effect. The intruder spoke in an
- 1:17:38unfamiliar language and while they carried functional weapons,
- 1:17:43or so it seemed, evident later by bullets found later embedded
- 1:17:47in trees, they caused no physical harm to the
- 1:17:50townspeople. The situation escalated to the
- 1:17:54point where Major Samuel Appleton of Ipswich dispatched
- 1:17:59approximately 60 men on July 18th to assist Gloucester during
- 1:18:04these inexplicable disturbances. Reverend John Emerson of
- 1:18:09Gloucester documented these occurrences in a letter to
- 1:18:13Cotton Mather, suggesting that the town's afflictions were the
- 1:18:17work of the devil and his agents, appearing as small
- 1:18:21creatures with large eyes and big ears rather than tangible
- 1:18:27French and indigenous attackers. Mather and his work.
- 1:18:33Magnalia. Christie.
- 1:18:34Americana noted that even a decade later, respected
- 1:18:39individuals in the region believed these events were a
- 1:18:43significant manifestation of the unseen.
- 1:18:46World. This account, among others,
- 1:18:49indicates the pervasive atmosphere of fear and
- 1:18:53superstition that characterized the period, leading communities
- 1:18:57to interpret unexplained phenomena as supernatural
- 1:19:00threats. Other than the apparitions
- 1:19:03appearing as alleged people, others described the beings as
- 1:19:07small devils with large eyes and large ears, a glaring similarity
- 1:19:14to the Kelly Hopkinsville case that I've covered here today.
- 1:19:18Albeit not completely the same, I did find it noteworthy enough
- 1:19:22to mention. I also don't believe that the
- 1:19:25creatures experienced by Geraldine's family members
- 1:19:29wielded any sort of weapons, at least from what we know.
- 1:19:33While I'm leaving many details to Geraldine herself, and for
- 1:19:37good reason, including myths and misconceptions about the case,
- 1:19:41all of which again we have covered on the Ghost to Me
- 1:19:44podcast episode with her as well as in her books, which I'll tell
- 1:19:49you about here shortly, I did want to share my thoughts on the
- 1:19:52case as a. Whole.
- 1:19:54In no particular order, I remember hearing about the case
- 1:19:58from my good friend Bob, as well as watching the show Hellyer.
- 1:20:02And coincidentally, when we were visiting the area together about
- 1:20:06two years ago, for reasons that were unrelated to the case
- 1:20:10itself, we did end up finding the coordinates of where the
- 1:20:13farm was located. And albeit it was at night, we
- 1:20:17did find ourselves at the exact location where the goblin
- 1:20:21encounter took place, which was surreal to say the least.
- 1:20:26I'm sure lots has changed since 1955, but they're in the flesh
- 1:20:31and to try to put yourself in the shoes of the family who
- 1:20:34endured the event, it really just adds another layer to this
- 1:20:38incredible story that I can't truly put into words.
- 1:20:42And even with much development taking place over the decades,
- 1:20:46the area of where the farm is located is still extremely
- 1:20:50rural, with one having to take several back roads to even find
- 1:20:55its location. Something that I noticed in
- 1:20:58Geraldine's recounting of the story was the metallic sound or
- 1:21:03pinging of the bullets as they hit the creatures, or as most
- 1:21:08refer to them now, as goblins. Was this perhaps due to some
- 1:21:13kind of force field or armor they had?
- 1:21:17That's where my mind tends to wander.
- 1:21:20And if this was the case, did they perhaps have that armor
- 1:21:23weakened as a result of multiple shots, as with Lucky shooting
- 1:21:28the other goblin for a second time near the post, they did
- 1:21:33also mention that these things were bioluminescent, that they
- 1:21:37seem to have a sort of glow about them.
- 1:21:40But if perhaps they weren't truly glowing, that they maybe
- 1:21:44have had metallic skin or armor on, perhaps this metallic
- 1:21:49coating or what have you could have been reflecting the glow of
- 1:21:54the full moonlight that night. It would explain the pinging
- 1:21:57sounds, however I tend to lean into it.
- 1:22:00Could have been a bit of both because during the research with
- 1:22:04the authorities, several cops saw a glowing residue near where
- 1:22:09the goblin had been shot near the post for the second time.
- 1:22:14That leads me to believe that maybe they could have had
- 1:22:17glowing blood, although that's just mere speculation on my
- 1:22:21part. I mean, if they were
- 1:22:24bioluminescent, but only makes sense, right?
- 1:22:28And with the concept of a force field fresh in our minds, did
- 1:22:32these goblins have some sort of telekinetic abilities?
- 1:22:37I mean, they were floating instead of falling, as if they
- 1:22:40defied the laws of physics themselves.
- 1:22:44Was this perhaps due to acute mental abilities or was it the
- 1:22:48result of foreign technology that we're just not aware of
- 1:22:52yet? When the creatures initially hid
- 1:22:55after their arrival and then hid after the first interaction and
- 1:23:00then after. I asked Geraldine if there were
- 1:23:04or are any caves where the farm is, and albeit she didn't know,
- 1:23:09there have been rumors of people finding goblin like beings in
- 1:23:13the caves throughout Appalachia, which is a terrifying prospect
- 1:23:17indeed to think that these things could ultimately perhaps
- 1:23:22be interconnected. With that being said, are these
- 1:23:26goblins, these entities, a manifestation of what we call
- 1:23:32the phenomenon, for lack of a better term, the mysterious
- 1:23:37supernatural force that seems to present itself just beyond the
- 1:23:42veil of our conscious minds, only seeping?
- 1:23:46Through for a brief. Time and that very said veil is
- 1:23:50thinner than normal. Are they interdimensional
- 1:23:54creatures coming from another plane of existence?
- 1:23:58Or are they, as many believe them to be, given the
- 1:24:02unidentified flying object that Billy Ray saw, extraterrestrial
- 1:24:07in nature? Are they from another planet?
- 1:24:11All interesting thoughts to ponder, no doubt, as we've let
- 1:24:15our minds run wild and be immersed in this perplexing
- 1:24:19case. I wonder why the goblins
- 1:24:22approached the family as if they were surrendering, but then
- 1:24:26ultimately would end up scaling the house and then trying to
- 1:24:30grab Billy Ray from the stoop. Above the porch.
- 1:24:34Did they need help? Were they trying to convey this
- 1:24:37via their hands up signaling or were they trying to lure the
- 1:24:41family into a false sense of security?
- 1:24:45Also I do have to say the thought of the little clawed
- 1:24:48hand and then the clanking of one on top of the roof, both of
- 1:24:52those instances are so creepy to me.
- 1:24:56Now the authorities did do a thorough search that very
- 1:24:58morning using both men on the ground as well as I believe
- 1:25:02helicopters doing grid searches, but they didn't find any
- 1:25:07creatures themselves, albeit allegedly they found evidence of
- 1:25:12their existence. Which ties into a whole other
- 1:25:15alien conspiracy rabbit hole. Geraldine goes extensively into
- 1:25:19this in several of her books, but most recently in the Kelly
- 1:25:24Green Men Alien Legacy Revisited, where she adds
- 1:25:29numerous details as well as photos of the alleged footprints
- 1:25:34found of the creatures. I can't stress that there's only
- 1:25:38so much I can add without mentioning both my interview
- 1:25:41with Geraldine as well as her books.
- 1:25:44She truly is the foremost authority on the case itself,
- 1:25:47and I find it very admirable how much effort she puts into
- 1:25:51keeping what has become local Kentucky folklore, now very much
- 1:25:55alive for not only the folklore aspect, but her family's
- 1:26:00history. In conclusion, remember that
- 1:26:04this was a family they didn't ask for.
- 1:26:06What happened to them? Now I wanted to quickly mention
- 1:26:10that Geraldine has a new book with a lot more information and
- 1:26:15historical references coming out very soon and it should be
- 1:26:19available on Amazon as well as most if not all main bookselling
- 1:26:24platforms. She also will be selling it via
- 1:26:27her Etsy shop which is Aliens and Goblins and that'll be for
- 1:26:31autographed copies. Now, following our interview, I
- 1:26:35actually ordered my own goblin from her store and I just so
- 1:26:39happened to get it today, which is also when I happened to
- 1:26:43finish the script and recorded it for you folks.
- 1:26:46Now, mine's name is Lucky, which is very cool because that was
- 1:26:51Geraldine's dad's nickname, as you guys know from the story

- 1:28:54And he happens to be coming out of his bedroom.
- 1:28:58He came upstairs and he heard, 'cause he heard footsteps and
- 1:29:01nobody was here. They went back downstairs and
- 1:29:05when he went down he happened to look and he seen this Flack.
- 1:29:09He describes it as something that wasn't.
- 1:29:12Or. How did he say it?
- 1:29:14I said I don't even know where you came up with that word.
- 1:29:16Organically natural. And then he said it flashed, and
- 1:29:19then it went away. While trying to recover from
- 1:29:22multiple surgeries over nearly a decade, a woman and her family
- 1:29:28are tormented by dark entities that invade their home.
- 1:29:32Seemingly out of nowhere, after asking multiple paranormal
- 1:29:37investigators and a priest to help her clear her dwelling of
- 1:29:42these unexplained and terrifying entities, will she and her
- 1:29:47family be freed or will they continue to be prisoners in
- 1:29:52their own home? This is the.
- 1:29:55Untold story of the Raric family haunting in Pennsylvania.
- 1:30:00And it truly is a terrifying, haunting indeed.
- 1:30:05So grab a drink or a snack or both, and prepare to get scared.
- 1:30:12And I wouldn't recommend watching or listening to this in
- 1:30:16the dark unless you like a challenge.
- 1:30:24The house at the edge of the forest that stood for decades,
- 1:30:29its weathered facade blending seamlessly with the quiet town
- 1:30:34of Montandon. From the outside it seemed no
- 1:30:39different from any other home, a modest structure with a well
- 1:30:45kept yard and windows that reflected the golden hues of
- 1:30:49dusk. Those who passed by in the dead
- 1:30:53of nine often swore that they felt something watching them.
- 1:30:59The air around the property seemed heavier, colder, as if
- 1:31:03the house itself held secrets it refused to share.
- 1:31:10For the Rorik family, it was a dream come true, a step up from
- 1:31:15the cramped mobile home. Where they had.
- 1:31:18Spent years scraping by. Todd and Jacinda Rarick had
- 1:31:23worked tirelessly to make it theirs, pouring love and labor
- 1:31:28into every corner, but no amount of paint or Polish could erase
- 1:31:34the sense of unease that seemed to linger just beneath the
- 1:31:38surface. It was subtle at first, the way
- 1:31:43the shadows in the hallway stretched longer than they
- 1:31:46should, or how certain rooms. Always felt a few degrees
- 1:31:51colder. No matter the season, by the
- 1:31:54time they realized that, their sanctuary had become a prison.
- 1:31:59It was too. Late This is not a story of
- 1:32:03flickering lights or misplaced keys.
- 1:32:07It is a. Story of something older,
- 1:32:10darker, and far more insidious. A force that thrived on fear and
- 1:32:16despair, eating on the cracks of the Roric's lives until it
- 1:32:22threatened to consume them entirely.
- 1:32:26The events that unfolded within those walls would forever mark
- 1:32:30them, leaving scars that no amount of time could fully heal.
- 1:32:36And to think, it all began with one small light.
- 1:32:42The small town of Montandon in the heart of Pennsylvania, a
- 1:32:48place where life ambled quietly through the sunlit afternoons
- 1:32:54and starry nights. The Rarag family, Jacinda and
- 1:33:00her husband Todd, and their 20 year old son Justin had called
- 1:33:05it home for nearly 14 years. Their modest 3 bedroom house was
- 1:33:11tucked at the edge of a forest, a place where shadows seem to
- 1:33:15linger just a little bit too long.
- 1:33:20Montandem was the kind of place where everyone knew each other,
- 1:33:24the tight knit community bound by shared traditions and
- 1:33:29familiarity. The grocery clerk knew which
- 1:33:33brand of coffee you liked before you asked, and neighbors always
- 1:33:37waved from their porches. It was a place that felt safe,
- 1:33:43ordinary even, which made the events that unfolded within the
- 1:33:47Roric household all the more chilling.
- 1:33:51Jacinda was in recovery from major back surgery, the
- 1:33:56aftermath of years of hard work and determination catching up to
- 1:34:00her body. The procedure had been grueling
- 1:34:06and to repair herniated discs, but it left her with more pain
- 1:34:10than relief. Her days were now filled with a
- 1:34:14restless idleness, an unfamiliar state for someone so used to
- 1:34:20motion. She spent much of her time in
- 1:34:23the living room, gazing out at the trees that bordered their
- 1:34:27yard, their leaves whispering the secrets in the breeze.
- 1:34:34Her husband, Todd, a repairman at a local brewery, had taken on
- 1:34:39the dual role of caregiver and provider, his demeanor
- 1:34:44oscillating between steadfast support and quiet exhaustion.
- 1:34:50Todd was a practical man, his faith rooted in what he could
- 1:34:54see and fix with his hands. He tried to assure Jacinda with
- 1:34:59humor and routine. Though he could see the toll her
- 1:35:03recovery was. Taking on her spirit, Justin,
- 1:35:07fresh from high school and nursing a shoulder injury from a
- 1:35:11summer mishap, found himself housebound as well.
- 1:35:15The injury had sidelined his plans to work full time at the
- 1:35:18local hardware store, leaving him with hours to fill and a
- 1:35:23growing sense of frustration. He spent his days flipping
- 1:35:27through old magazines, scrolling aimlessly on his phone, and
- 1:35:32helping his mother as much as his limited mobility allowed.
- 1:35:36The first sign came in the form of light.
- 1:35:39Jacinda, leafing through photographs of Justin's
- 1:35:43graduation, noticed something peculiar.
- 1:35:47Small, luminous orbs scattered the images.
- 1:35:52Some glowed a soft white, others a spectral purple.
- 1:35:58They hovered in the corners, barely visible, yet
- 1:36:03unmistakingly present. At first, she thought it was a
- 1:36:07trick of light, but as she flipped through more photos, the
- 1:36:12pattern persisted. Jacinta's heart leapt at the
- 1:36:16thought that these could be her parents, long gone but never
- 1:36:22forgotten. Their presence, if real, was a
- 1:36:26comfort, a balm against the isolating monotony for recovery.
- 1:36:33Look at this. Todd, she said one morning,
- 1:36:35holding a photograph up to the light.
- 1:36:39These orbs, they're in every picture.
- 1:36:42Don't you think it's strange? Todd glanced over, his
- 1:36:47expression a mix of amusement and exasperation.
- 1:36:53Camera flares, he said, brushing it off.
- 1:36:57You're overthinking it. You gissed her on the forehead
- 1:37:01and then left for work, leaving Jacinda alone with her thoughts.
- 1:37:07But Jacinda couldn't let it go. She began documenting the orbs,
- 1:37:11obsessively, taking picture after picture, each new snapshot
- 1:37:17only deepening her conviction. The orbs appeared in the
- 1:37:21kitchen, the hallway, even her bedroom.
- 1:37:26Some seem to shimmer with a faint inner light, their edges
- 1:37:30blurring like tiny stars caught on film.
- 1:37:35As the days turned into weeks, the orbs became more active.
- 1:37:40Jacinda began noticing subtle movements within the shimmering
- 1:37:44lights. They seemed to drift closer when
- 1:37:48she was alone, as if trying to communicate something just
- 1:37:53beyond the edge of her perception.
- 1:37:55Occasionally, she would hear faint whispers accompanying
- 1:37:59their presence, indecipherable but undeniably there.
- 1:38:05The whispers became louder over time, escalating into fragmented
- 1:38:10phrases that would flit away just as she tried to focus on
- 1:38:15them. But the house held more than
- 1:38:17just playful flickers of light. There was a wait in the air, the
- 1:38:23suffocating heaviness that seemed to press down on her
- 1:38:26chest. She felt it most acutely within
- 1:38:30the quiet hours of the night, when the world outside fell
- 1:38:35silent and the shadows within seemed to grow restless.
- 1:38:41The sound of creaking floorboards, faint knocking at
- 1:38:45odd hours, and sudden cold drafts became a nightly
- 1:38:50occurrence. The temperature would drop
- 1:38:54dramatically in certain rooms, and the family's pets, a loyal
- 1:38:59dog and two skittish cats, would refuse to enter those spaces.
- 1:39:06One evening, while Justin lay in the living room, he heard it.
- 1:39:12The distinct sound of footsteps above him.
- 1:39:15Heavy and deliberate, they moved across the ceiling, each step a
- 1:39:22dagger of dread stabbing into his mind.
- 1:39:27His parents weren't home, and the house should have been
- 1:39:31silent. Mom.
- 1:39:34Dad, he called out his voice. Trembling, there was no response
- 1:39:41when he mustered the courage to investigate.
- 1:39:45He. Found nothing.
- 1:39:48The doors were locked, the lights off.
- 1:39:53Yet the sense of unease lingered, settling deep into his
- 1:39:57bones. I heard footsteps, he told his
- 1:40:01mother the next morning. Someone was in the house.
- 1:40:05Jacinda's eyes widened. It's the shadow, she whispered.
- 1:40:11I've seen it too. Justin's skepticism melted into
- 1:40:15fear. He dismissed his mother's tales
- 1:40:19of orbs and presences. Chalking them up to the side
- 1:40:23effects of medication or the imagination of a mind left idle
- 1:40:28for too long. But now the reality of her words
- 1:40:31clawed at him. The sightings grew bolder.
- 1:40:36A pool table in the basement, untouched for weeks, suddenly
- 1:40:41erupted into sound. A sharp crack of billyard balls
- 1:40:45breaking echoed throughout the house.
- 1:40:49When Justin went to investigate, he saw the balls scattered, as
- 1:40:54if a game had been interrupted mid play.
- 1:40:58Then there was the shadow. A dark, formless silhouette that
- 1:41:04loomed in the corner of his vision, its presence oppressive
- 1:41:09and consuming. Though it had no discernible
- 1:41:13features, he felt it staring into him.
- 1:41:17Peeling back the layers of his mind to expose his deepest
- 1:41:22fears, the entity then began to rush at him.
- 1:41:27But before another scream could erupt from his mouth, almost as
- 1:41:32if in the blink of an eye, it vanished.
- 1:41:37The room, his bedroom was up to the side.
- 1:41:39We had a pool table down there in the bar.
- 1:41:41So like we hung out there all the time.
- 1:41:44Like that's where we live and. He happened to be coming out of
- 1:41:48the bedroom. He came upstairs and he heard
- 1:41:51because he heard footsteps and nobody was here.
- 1:41:54They went back downstairs and he heard the footsteps again.
- 1:41:58So he came back up and then he heard the pool table.
- 1:42:00Balls. Break downstairs and when he
- 1:42:02went down he happened to look and he seen this black.
- 1:42:06He described it as something that wasn't.
- 1:42:09Or. How did he say it?
- 1:42:11I said, I don't even know where you came up with that word.
- 1:42:13Organically, natural. And then he said it flashed and
- 1:42:16then it went away. And then he finally came to me.
- 1:42:19At that time, he had graduated from high school and he was
- 1:42:22working at a local hardware store.
- 1:42:24And he had came to me. He was like, Mom, I finally
- 1:42:27believe you. And I was just like, so happy
- 1:42:29that somebody was finally, you know, on the same page with me.
- 1:42:34Jacinda's paintings wants her escape.
- 1:42:39Began to betray her. One night, as she gazed at a
- 1:42:43completed piece, she saw the color shifting, melting as if
- 1:42:50consumed by an unseen force. The patterns twisted
- 1:42:56unnaturally, forming faces and eyes as seemed to watch her with
- 1:43:02malevolence. A sharp pain lanced through her
- 1:43:06head. She collapsed, gasping for air.
- 1:43:12Along with these more intense manifestations of something
- 1:43:16evil, the family, along with terrible sleep within the home
- 1:43:22due to almost constant feelings of anxiety, began to experience
- 1:43:27something else as well lapses in time.
- 1:43:31In one instance, Lucinda had been laying in bed 1 moment, and
- 1:43:38almost as if waking up from a dream, she found herself at the
- 1:43:42top of the stairs, ready to step and descend into the basement.
- 1:43:49A move that, if it had gone wrong, would have led to even
- 1:43:53more catastrophic pain and injury given her state of
- 1:43:58health. One night, Jacinda finally
- 1:44:02broke. It's the house, she sobbed to
- 1:44:06Todd. It's trying to kill us.
- 1:44:10Todd's patients wore thin. You're stressed, he said, his
- 1:44:16voice laced with frustration. You're recovering from surgery,
- 1:44:21and you're letting your mind run wild.
- 1:44:24But even he couldn't ignore the signs forever.
- 1:44:28One night, during a rare family dinner, Todd clutched his chest,
- 1:44:33his face contorting in pain, his skin turned ashen, his breaths
- 1:44:40shallow and labored. They rushed him to the emergency
- 1:44:44room, but the tests would reveal nothing.
- 1:44:50Yet Todd's near collapse left an indelible mark on the family, a
- 1:44:55lingering sense that the house was exacting its toll on each of
- 1:45:00them. Desperate for answers, Jacinda
- 1:45:04reached out to the Central Pennsylvania Paranormal Research
- 1:45:08Association A-Team, led by two sidekicks named Christine and
- 1:45:15Liz. After speaking with them, it
- 1:45:18would soon arrive at the house. Upon stepping inside,
- 1:45:24Christine's face would darken. There's a presence here, she
- 1:45:28said. It's ancient and it's angry.
- 1:45:33Prior to arriving at the home, the team's investigation had
- 1:45:38unearthed a chilling history. It was their belief alongside
- 1:45:43their research, as centuries ago a group of Eastern European
- 1:45:49travelers had camped on the property, performing rituals
- 1:45:54that had opened a gateway to something dark.
- 1:45:59The presence that now haunted the Rarick family was no benign
- 1:46:03spirit but a demonic force, one that was drawn to the house by
- 1:46:09the vulnerabilities its inhabitants.
- 1:46:13It's attached itself to you, Christine told Jacinda.
- 1:46:17Your illness made you an easy target, and now it's feeding on
- 1:46:23your family's fear and pain. In an attempt to free the
- 1:46:27family, the team would conduct a cleansing of the home.
- 1:46:32As they got underway, their prayers began to fill the house
- 1:46:36with light and sound. But as this happened, the air
- 1:46:42seemed to shiver. As the entity began to fight
- 1:46:46back its rage. Palpable shadows thickened and
- 1:46:52writhed, taking on grotesque shapes that lunged at the
- 1:46:56investigators before dissolving into nothingness.
- 1:47:02The furniture creaked ominously, and objects flew from shelves
- 1:47:07with a violent force towards the tail end of the cleansing
- 1:47:11ritual. A deafening silence fell over
- 1:47:15the room, like that of snow falling within a forest.
- 1:47:21The entity then let out one last burst of furious energy.
- 1:47:27This burst shook the house to its foundation, with windows and
- 1:47:31doors shuddering and its vibration.
- 1:47:35Following this display of power, however, a calm descended.
- 1:47:40The oppressive weight seemed to be lifted, the shadows receded,
- 1:47:46and for the first time in months, the house felt like a
- 1:47:50home again. In the aftermath, the Raricks
- 1:47:54began to heal, their bonds stronger for having faced the
- 1:47:58darkness together. Todd, once skeptical, now spoke
- 1:48:04with quiet reverence of the ordeal.
- 1:48:07There are things we don't understand, he admitted.
- 1:48:11But that doesn't mean that they aren't real.
- 1:48:15Jacinda, though still scarred by the experience, found solace in
- 1:48:21the belief that her parents had been watching over her all
- 1:48:24along, their love a shield against the malevolent force
- 1:48:30that had invaded their lives. As she stood at the edge of the
- 1:48:35forest one evening, gazing up at the stars, she whispered a quiet
- 1:48:41thank you to the spirits that she hoped were still near.
- 1:48:47And in the silence that followed, she felt an embrace, a
- 1:48:53warm and reassuring one, like the arms of a mother and father
- 1:49:00who would always protect their child.
- 1:49:04Months later, life in the Roric household had found a semblance
- 1:49:08of normalcy. The memories of their harrowing
- 1:49:12experience lingered, but so did a renewed sense of gratitude and
- 1:49:19strength. Their story remained A
- 1:49:22cautionary tale in the community, whispered over cups
- 1:49:26of coffee and told in hushed tones by neighbors.
- 1:49:31For the Rorics. It was a reminder of the thin
- 1:49:35veil that separates the scene from the unseen.
- 1:49:41Though they thought it was the end of their ordeal, it was
- 1:49:45unfortunately not the case for them.
- 1:49:48The months following the cleansing seemed to just be a
- 1:49:51respite from the chaos, for it would resume with horrendous
- 1:49:56vigor and it seemed to further pursue Jacinda, perhaps
- 1:50:02believing her to be the weakest link of the family.
- 1:50:05Due to her. Health.
- 1:50:08The family tried cleansings from priests, from paranormal groups,
- 1:50:14but nothing seemed to work. Jacinda, through reaching out
- 1:50:18for help, would hear from a psychic that it wasn't just one
- 1:50:23entity that haunted her and her family.
- 1:50:26That it was multiple, 4 to be exact.
- 1:50:30That these entities were indeed ancient.
- 1:50:34That they were demons. Demons who had been summoned
- 1:50:38through various rituals many moons ago and that haunted the
- 1:50:44land itself, but had attached themselves to her due to her
- 1:50:49vulnerable state, feeding off of her fear, anxiety, and
- 1:50:55ultimately her life force. This was almost identical to the
- 1:51:00theory the Central Pennsylvania Paranormal Research Association
- 1:51:05team had as well. More strange and scary
- 1:51:09manifestations would take place over the years.
- 1:51:13All the trees and vegetation surrounding the home would die.
- 1:51:18Distortions and time would continue to take place.
- 1:51:23Their nightmares. Would bleed over into day
- 1:51:26mirrors as the shadows would contort and twist, morphing into
- 1:51:32non organic monstrosities before their very eyes before then
- 1:51:38dissipating into nothing. What makes this all the more
- 1:51:44disturbing is that through my research on this case, I believe
- 1:51:49the family still lives there and continues to deal with these
- 1:51:53dark and horrendous entities. The last interview I could find
- 1:51:59with Jacinda was with the Grave Talks podcast, which I'll link
- 1:52:03below, and that was posted in 2019.
- 1:52:08It's also where the beginning audio segment came from.
- 1:52:12It really is a fascinating interview and I highly recommend
- 1:52:15that you go check it out. And I would also like to thank
- 1:52:19Tony from Real Ghost Stories Online and the Grave Talks
- 1:52:23Podcast for allowing me to. Use that segment.
- 1:52:27The thought of being so vulnerable like following a
- 1:52:30surgery or in this case surgeries, and having to deal
- 1:52:36with spiritual manifestations on top of physical pain and mental
- 1:52:41turmoil as a result of both is just harrowing to try and
- 1:52:45fathom. I really have to say that
- 1:52:49Jacinda truly seems to be a strong willed person and I pray
- 1:52:53that wherever her and her family are now, whether it's still in
- 1:52:57the same home or not, that they've found peace.
- 1:53:02Albeit that doesn't seem to be the case based off of my
- 1:53:05research. The wishing someone the best
- 1:53:09certainly never did any harm. There's a lot of small details
- 1:53:13in this case as well, but I tried my best to touch on major
- 1:53:17points. And as always, I recommend you
- 1:53:20dive into your own research if you'd like to know more for
- 1:53:26years it. Stood in silence, its walls
- 1:53:29swollen with secrets, its halls thick with shadows.
- 1:53:36Mark and Claire Sullivan never planned to return, but after
- 1:53:40their mother's death, they had no choice.
- 1:53:44Ashwood House was their inheritance, a place of
- 1:53:47childhood memories long buried under dust and something darker.
- 1:53:54Now, as they step across the threshold, the air is heavy with

- 1:54:42Thank you. For years, decades perhaps
- 1:54:47longer than anyone living could remember, it stood at the edge
- 1:54:52of the forest, shrouded and tangled Ivy and the wait of
- 1:54:58forgotten years, its walls swollen with secrets.
- 1:55:04Some places are simply abandoned, left to decay in
- 1:55:08silence, But others? Others are forsaken, left behind
- 1:55:15not by choice but by necessity. Ashwood House was the latter.
- 1:55:24Mark Sullivan never thought he'd return here.
- 1:55:27Neither did his sister Claire. Yet in the wake of their
- 1:55:30mother's passing, duty called them back to the place where
- 1:55:34they had spent their childhood summers, the place where
- 1:55:38something had changed their family forever.
- 1:55:42It had been a house full of loved ones, filled with the
- 1:55:46scent of old books and their grandmother's lavender perfume.
- 1:55:51But that warmth had long since faded, swallowed by whispers in
- 1:55:56the walls and shadows that stretch too long at night.
- 1:56:03Now, as their car rumbled up the overgrown Dr. the house loomed
- 1:56:08ahead, it's gaping windows like vacant eyes watching them.
- 1:56:15Mark gripped the steering wheel tighter.
- 1:56:18Claire, beside him, exhaled a breath that she hadn't realized
- 1:56:23she was holding. Neither of them spoke.
- 1:56:28Somewhere deep inside the house felt them arrive, and somewhere
- 1:56:33even deeper, something else stirred.
- 1:56:39The car's headlights cut through the dusk as Mark Sullivan
- 1:56:42steered up a winding dirt lane, dense woods pressing in on
- 1:56:47either side. Beside him, his younger sister
- 1:56:51Claire sat quietly, hands twisting in her lap.
- 1:56:56The old Ashwood house finally loomed into view, A2 story
- 1:57:01silhouette against a moonless night sky.
- 1:57:05Mark killed the engine, and in the sudden silence, both
- 1:57:10siblings gazed at the darkened house.
- 1:57:14It's windows were black and empty, and the timber frame
- 1:57:19seemed to lean toward them as if in greeting.
- 1:57:23A once grand porch sagged under the weight of years of disuse.
- 1:57:30Claire shivered, pulling her jacket tighter.
- 1:57:34Welcome home. Mark murmured, attempting a wry
- 1:57:38tone, but his voice cracked slightly.
- 1:57:42Neither of them had visited this property since they were
- 1:57:45children. This was Grandma Rose's house,
- 1:57:49inherited by their mother. And now, after their mother's
- 1:57:53recent passing, left to the two of them.
- 1:57:57It might have been a lovely inheritance if it wasn't for the
- 1:58:01whispers of tragedy tied to it. The same tragedy that haunted
- 1:58:06their family for decades. Mark pushed open the car door,
- 1:58:12and the Creek of its hinge was unnaturally loud.
- 1:58:17Gravel crunched under his boots. Claire hesitated, staring at the
- 1:58:22house's front window. In her memory, that door had
- 1:58:27always been painted a cheerful blue.
- 1:58:31Now it was faded to appealing Gray, reminding her of a gaping
- 1:58:37mouth. They ascended the porch
- 1:58:40together. The wood planks groaned under
- 1:58:43foot. Mark fumble with the old key
- 1:58:46their mother had left and the lock finally gave with a loud
- 1:58:52crack, making Claire jump. He shot her a reassuring smile
- 1:58:57he didn't feel. It's just a house.
- 1:59:01He said softly. She nodded, but her eyes
- 1:59:05remained wide. Stepping inside they were
- 1:59:09greeted by a stale chill. The air smelled of dust, mold,
- 1:59:14and something indefinably sweet, like flowers long since dried
- 1:59:20and dead. Claire found a light switch and
- 1:59:23flicked it. Nothing.
- 1:59:26The power was off. Mark swept the beam of his
- 1:59:29flashlight across the foyer. Sheets draped over furniture
- 1:59:34like ghostly forms, wallpaper peeling into long strips, and an
- 1:59:40old grandfather clock stood guard in the corner, its
- 1:59:45pendulum still as they ventured further, the quiet was thick and
- 1:59:51unbroken. They were truly alone in this
- 1:59:55House of echoes. Mark set down their bags in what
- 2:00:00used to be the parlor. The flashlights narrow beam
- 2:00:04painted long shadows on the walls.
- 2:00:08I'll go find the breaker box. He said, trying to sound upbeat.
- 2:00:12Claire nodded and knelt to unzip one of the bags, producing 2
- 2:00:18thick candles. And a lighter.
- 2:00:21Within minutes, a small flame cast a trembling glow, pushing
- 2:00:26back the darkness a few feet in each direction.
- 2:00:31The siblings exchanged a glance and gave each other small smiles
- 2:00:35of encouragement. While Mark went to restore the
- 2:00:39power, Claire remained in the parlor.
- 2:00:42The candles glow, her only company.
- 2:00:45She scanned the room, heart thumping.
- 2:00:49Here stood the old rocking chair where Grandma Rose used to sit
- 2:00:53and knit. It rocked gently, as if nudged
- 2:00:58by an unseen hand. She stepped closer, the floor
- 2:01:04board sighing beneath her chair. The chair was still now was
- 2:01:10probably just a draft, she told herself.
- 2:01:14She wrapped her arms around herself and wandered toward a
- 2:01:17side table covered in a dusty sheet.
- 2:01:21On it sat a framed photograph. Lifting the sheet, Claire
- 2:01:26revealed the photo and felt a pang in her chest.
- 2:01:31It was her mother as a young girl.
- 2:01:34She was smiling brightly on this very porch, Rose's arm around
- 2:01:38her shoulders. They both looked so happy.
- 2:01:43Claire bit her lip, recalling how that happiness had drained
- 2:01:47from her mother in the later years, replaced by sorrow and
- 2:01:52ramblings about voices in the house.
- 2:01:57A sudden thud from upstairs shattered the silence.
- 2:02:01Claire gasped, nearly dropping the frame.
- 2:02:05Her candle flickered. Mark.
- 2:02:08She called out with her voice tight.
- 2:02:11No answer. Mark was in the basement, not
- 2:02:15upstairs. The thud sounded again, louder,
- 2:02:20as if something heavy had fallen onto the floor in an upper room.
- 2:02:25Claire's mind raced. And intruder, possibly, Or
- 2:02:30something else. With her heart continuing to
- 2:02:33pound, she took a tentative step into the hall.
- 2:02:38That staircase rose before her, it's upper landing swallowed in
- 2:02:42the darkness. She stared into that void,
- 2:02:46candlelight quivering, and for a moment she thought she had heard
- 2:02:51a faint whisper filtering down a small murmur just out of the
- 2:02:57edge of hearing. It almost sounded like her name
- 2:03:00was being said, and the hairs on her neck rose up at the thought.
- 2:03:07Before she could call for Mark again, he appeared at the end of
- 2:03:11the hall, flashlight in hand. Power's out for good, the wires
- 2:03:18are shot. He said, then he noticed her
- 2:03:21stance. What's wrong?
- 2:03:24Claire turned to him, her face pale.
- 2:03:28I heard something upstairs. She whispered.
- 2:03:32Mark frowned, stepping forward protectively.
- 2:03:36Together they climb the stairs, the wood moaning under each
- 2:03:41footstep. At the top, Mark swept his
- 2:03:45flashlight. Around the corridor was empty,
- 2:03:50doors to bedrooms and storage rooms ajar.
- 2:03:55Dust motes danced in the beam, and there was no sign of
- 2:03:59anything out of place. Mark checked each room briskly,
- 2:04:05opening closets, peering under old furniture, but there was
- 2:04:10nothing. It was probably an animal on the
- 2:04:14roof. He reassured Claire, who nodded
- 2:04:17uncertainly. Yet as they stared back down,
- 2:04:21she caught one last sound, one that was so soft she thought she
- 2:04:27might have imagined it, a distant sobbing of a woman.
- 2:04:32She didn't tell Mark though, not yet.
- 2:04:37They set up camp for the night in the parlor, preferring to
- 2:04:40stay together on the ground floor.
- 2:04:43Mark managed to get the fireplace in the parlor lit with
- 2:04:47some dry wood that he had found, and soon a small fire crackled,
- 2:04:52easing the chill. The siblings sat on the dusty
- 2:04:56rug with blankets wrapped around them, the warm light painted
- 2:05:01flickering shapes on the walls. It should have been cozy, but
- 2:05:06unease clung to them. Mark was fiddling with a
- 2:05:10handheld radio he had brought, but it only hissed with static.
- 2:05:16There was no signal in these deep woods.
- 2:05:19He shut it off, and for a moment the only sounds heard were the
- 2:05:24pop of embers and the tick of that old grandfather clock which
- 2:05:30had inexplicably began ticking again.
- 2:05:34Claire broke the silence. Do you remember much about
- 2:05:38coming here as kids? She asked quietly.
- 2:05:42Mark stared into the fire. Bits and pieces, he said.
- 2:05:47Mostly happy times until that last visit.
- 2:05:52Claire nodded. That final visit over 15 years
- 2:05:56ago when she was only a child of seven.
- 2:06:01The night that she had been sent home early with an uncle while
- 2:06:04Mark stayed with Mom, something happened that night.
- 2:06:09Their mother had never spoken directly of it, but her behavior
- 2:06:14changed forever. She became anxious, depressive,
- 2:06:20muttering about seeing her father, who had died in Ashwood
- 2:06:25House years before, wandering the halls.
- 2:06:30It was as if part of her had never left this place.
- 2:06:34Claire remembered waking at her home to her mother's screams
- 2:06:37from nightmares about Ashwood. Mark's jaw tightened.
- 2:06:43Mom always said that this house was special to our family, but
- 2:06:48after grandmother died here, she refused to return and I never
- 2:06:54understood why. Claire hesitated, then admitted
- 2:06:58in a small voice. I think Mom saw things here and
- 2:07:03heard things. She used to tell me at night
- 2:07:06that Grandma Rose was watching us.
- 2:07:09At the time I thought she meant as an Angel or something, but
- 2:07:14now I'm not so sure. Mark turned to her, surprise in
- 2:07:19his eyes. He hadn't known that.
- 2:07:23Before he could respond, a sharp clatter came from the kitchen
- 2:07:28adjoining the parlor. It sounded like a metal pot
- 2:07:32falling, and both of them jumped up.
- 2:07:36Stay here. Mark ordered, Grabbing the
- 2:07:38flashlight. He stepped to the dark kitchen
- 2:07:41doorway. The fire light didn't reach that
- 2:07:45room, and its interior was pitch black.
- 2:07:50As he swung the beam across the kitchen, something skittered
- 2:07:54across the floor. A raccoon it seemed, and it then
- 2:07:59disappeared through a broken lower cabinet panel.
- 2:08:03Mark exhaled with his pulse calming.
- 2:08:06Probably it had knocked over a pin.
- 2:08:09Just a critter. He reported, relief evident.
- 2:08:13Claire managed A shaky smile. They then settled again by the
- 2:08:16fire. Mark poked at the embers, adding
- 2:08:20another log. Will clean up, sort through
- 2:08:24things tomorrow and be out of here by tomorrow evening.
- 2:08:27He said decisively. Claire agreed readily, neither
- 2:08:32wanted to spend more time there than necessary.
- 2:08:36Later that night, Claire was dozing off under her blanket
- 2:08:41while Mark kept first watch. He wasn't sure what he was
- 2:08:45watching for, the house was abandoned after all, yet he felt
- 2:08:51unwilling to fully sleep. His eyes grew heavy as the fire
- 2:08:56died down, and just as he was about to nod off, a Creek
- 2:09:02sounded from the hallway, like a footstep on the wooden floor.
- 2:09:08Mark's eyes snapped open. The hall lay beyond the parlor
- 2:09:12door, and he could just make out the edge of the grandfather
- 2:09:16clock and the faint firelight. It, strangely, was no longer
- 2:09:21ticking. He rose silently, straining to
- 2:09:25listen. Another Creek, unmistakable this
- 2:09:30time, and then a gentle series of knocks on the front door.
- 2:09:36Mark's heart lurched into his throat.
- 2:09:39Who would come here at this hour?
- 2:09:42He grabbed the flashlight and crept forward.
- 2:09:46Claire stirred awake, whispering.
- 2:09:49What is it? Someone's at the door, Mark said
- 2:09:52under his breath. Claire sat up, fear jolting
- 2:09:56through her drowsiness. Mark approached the door, every
- 2:10:01instinct screaming that something was wrong.
- 2:10:04The knock then came again, a polite tapping.
- 2:10:09He mustered courage and called Hello, who's there?
- 2:10:15But there was no answer, just silence, thick enough to choke
- 2:10:20on. He glanced back at Claire, who
- 2:10:23had risen, clutching her blanket around her.
- 2:10:26He grasped the doorknob and slowly turned it, the latch
- 2:10:31clicking. Opening the door just a few
- 2:10:34inches, he peered out with his flashlight.
- 2:10:38The beam illuminated an empty porch and the yard beyond.
- 2:10:43There was no one. The night was deathly still.
- 2:10:48Not even a breeze stirred. Mark's breath fogged in the cold
- 2:10:52air. He stepped onto the porch,
- 2:10:55shining the light all around. There was nothing but overgrown
- 2:10:59weeds in the gravel driveway, the one that their car was
- 2:11:03quietly parked on. A chill crawled over his skin.
- 2:11:08He shut and re bolted the door. No one's there.
- 2:11:12He said softly. Claire had come up behind him.
- 2:11:17I heard a 2 mark, clear as day. They then exchanged uneasy
- 2:11:22looks. Something unseen was toying with
- 2:11:26them. By the next day's Gray morning
- 2:11:29light, Mark and Claire were eager to finish their business.
- 2:11:34They spent hours sorting through what was salvageable photo
- 2:11:38albums, some antique Knick knacks of grandma roses, and
- 2:11:43important papers. Both tried to act as though the
- 2:11:46previous night had just been nerves and natural noises, but
- 2:11:51each knew that it was more. They moved mostly in silence,
- 2:11:55the tension between them taut. Claire could sense Mark's
- 2:11:59skepticism wavering. He looked strained, eyes darting
- 2:12:04to empty doorways, as if expecting to see someone
- 2:12:07standing there. In the afternoon, they ventured
- 2:12:11into the master bedroom, the very room where Grandma Rose had
- 2:12:15died in her sleep decades ago. Dust laid thick on the vanity
- 2:12:20and the framed mirror above it. As Claire wiped a circle clean
- 2:12:25on the mirror with a rag. She paused, seeing her
- 2:12:29reflection and marks behind her. For an instant, she thought she
- 2:12:34saw a third figure reflected over her shoulder, a gaunt old
- 2:12:39woman and a lace nightgown standing between them with
- 2:12:44hollow eyes. Claire whirled around with a
- 2:12:47gasp, but no one else was there. But the mirror's surface, now
- 2:12:54cleared of dust, suddenly splintered with a web of cracks
- 2:12:59radiating from the center. Mark dropped the box he was
- 2:13:03carrying. The siblings stared at the
- 2:13:05mirror, their hearts thudding in their chests.
- 2:13:09The cracks in the glass vaguely formed a shape almost like that
- 2:13:14of a spider or a human esque figure.
- 2:13:17Claire's hand shook. We need to go, Mark.
- 2:13:21She whispered with her voice quivering.
- 2:13:24This house, it's angry or something.
- 2:13:28Mark swallowed, picking up the box again to mask his own fear.
- 2:13:33Soon as we finish mom's paperwork.
- 2:13:35He muttered. They found what they needed in
- 2:13:37an old roll top desk in the corner.
- 2:13:40The deed, some letters and a leather bound diary that
- 2:13:45belonged to Grandma Rose. Curious, Claire opened the diary
- 2:13:51and the siblings skimmed through brittled Yellow Pages.
- 2:13:55Rose's neat cursive detailed her daily life, gardening, cooking.
- 2:14:00But the final entries grew erratic.
- 2:14:04One entry caught their eye. I hear him at night.
- 2:14:09Thomas knocks on the door. But I know he's been dead for 10
- 2:14:13years. He wants me to join him.
- 2:14:17Last night I saw him at the foot of my bed, smiling.
- 2:14:21I'm not afraid to go. The entry was dated the night
- 2:14:25before Rose died. Thomas was their grandfather,
- 2:14:30who indeed had died years prior in the very same house.
- 2:14:35Claire read the words aloud, tears in her eyes.
- 2:14:39She was seeing Grandfather's ghost, and she wasn't afraid.
- 2:14:44Mark exhaled with a shaky breath.
- 2:14:47Their mother had hinted at similar experiences, seeing her
- 2:14:51father's specter in the halls. It's like all the Sullivans get
- 2:14:55called back here by the dead. Mark said with his voice hushed.
- 2:15:01A sudden bang then echoed from downstairs, as if a door had
- 2:15:06slammed itself shut. They both jumped.
- 2:15:09That was enough. They gathered the essential
- 2:15:12papers and decided to leave the rest.
- 2:15:16It was growing dark again. The day had slipped away faster
- 2:15:19than expected, and neither relished a second night.
- 2:15:24But fate had other plans. When Mark tried the front door,
- 2:15:30he found it stuck fast. He yanked at the knob and it
- 2:15:35wouldn't budget. It was as if it was held by an
- 2:15:38unseen force. No, he said, not now.
- 2:15:43With his adrenaline spiking. He and Claire together pulled,
- 2:15:48and suddenly the door flew open with such force that Claire
- 2:15:53staggered back. A frigid wind blasted into the
- 2:15:56foyer, extinguishing their candle and Lantern.
- 2:16:02The darkness that fell was absolute, and in it they heard a
- 2:16:07soft giggle, a child's giggle echoing from somewhere above.
- 2:16:14Claire's trembling hand found marks.
- 2:16:17Did you hear that? She whispered, and he nodded,
- 2:16:22though she could barely see him through the dim light from the
- 2:16:25clouded dusk outside. They had opened the door, but
- 2:16:30outside was now pitch black and uninviting, an early night
- 2:16:35descending with storm clouds gathering.
- 2:16:39The giggle then sounded again, this time from the hallway
- 2:16:44behind them. Blair's eyes welled with tears.
- 2:16:48We have to get out. She insisted.
- 2:16:51Mark agreed wholeheartedly, grabbing their bag and the
- 2:16:55documents. They stepped onto the porch only
- 2:16:59to have the door slammed shut behind them with a boom that
- 2:17:03seemed to cause the entire house to shudder.
- 2:17:06Mark fumble with the car keys as Thunder rumbled in the distance.
- 2:17:11Claire was already halfway to the car when she realized that
- 2:17:15Mark wasn't following. He stood at the foot of the
- 2:17:18porch steps staring at the car. All four tires were now
- 2:17:23completely flat, as if slashed in the fading.
- 2:17:28Light. They could see deep gashes in
- 2:17:30the rubber. How?
- 2:17:33Claire stammered. Mark spun around, scanning the
- 2:17:36area, but there was no sign of another person, no footprints.
- 2:17:42The air then felt suddenly oppressive, heavy with the
- 2:17:46promise of a storm and something more malevolent.
- 2:17:51A fat raindrop then splashed. On Claire's cheek, they were
- 2:17:55stranded. The keys to the old shed, Mark
- 2:17:59said, thinking aloud. There been an old pickup truck
- 2:18:02in the shed years ago. Maybe, just maybe, it still
- 2:18:08worked. It was a slim hope.
- 2:18:12The shed was behind the house, past an overgrown garden.
- 2:18:16With flashlights in hand, they dashed through the yard as the
- 2:18:21sky split with lightning. The Thunder that followed was so
- 2:18:25loud it rattled in their chests. Rain lashed down as Mark and
- 2:18:31Claire pried open the shed's swollen doors.
- 2:18:35Inside, the smell of gasoline and dust filled their noses.
- 2:18:40Mark's flashlight found the shape of the old pickup truck
- 2:18:43under a tarp. He yanked the tarp aside,
- 2:18:47coughing at the billow of dust. The truck sat like a fossil of
- 2:18:52another age, rusted blue paint and flat tires.
- 2:18:58It wouldn't be going anywhere tonight.
- 2:19:01Claire's hope sank Mark, We might have to wait out the storm
- 2:19:06and walk by morning, she said, wiping rain from her eyes.
- 2:19:11Mark cursed under his breath, frustrated and scared.
- 2:19:17He knew staying men facing whatever was inside the house,
- 2:19:21but stumbling blindly through a stormy forest.
- 2:19:24Could be just. As dangerous.
- 2:19:27A sudden noise made both of them freeze.
- 2:19:30Through the roar of the rain, they heard music.
- 2:19:34A faint tinkling melody was coming from inside the house,
- 2:19:40audible even outside. What made things stranger?
- 2:19:45Zach Clair recognized it. It was a lullaby tune from an
- 2:19:49old music box their mother used to have, one that also had
- 2:19:53belonged to their Grandma Rose. They had left it on the mantle
- 2:19:58in the parlor earlier, and now it was playing by itself.
- 2:20:04Each note carried through the night eerily slow.
- 2:20:09Claire felt tears mixed with the rain on her face.
- 2:20:12It's Mom's lullaby, she whispered.
- 2:20:15Mark said his jaw. No, it's not Mom, Claire, don't
- 2:20:20listen to it. But Claire was already stepping
- 2:20:24back toward the house, entranced by the memories.
- 2:20:28On countless nights as children, that lullaby had soothed them to
- 2:20:32sleep. Hearing it now tugged at her
- 2:20:35heartstrings. It'd be their mother's spirit.
- 2:20:39Was she there trying to comfort them?
- 2:20:42Or was something else luring them?
- 2:20:45Without realizing, they had both moved back toward the house.
- 2:20:50The front door stood open despite having slammed when they
- 2:20:54initially exited the house. A warm light glowed from within.
- 2:20:59The fireplace was roaring, casting flickers onto the porch.
- 2:21:04Mark's mind then began to race. They had put the fire out before
- 2:21:08packing up, hadn't they? Yes, they definitely did.
- 2:21:14So who rekindled it, they wondered.
- 2:21:18The siblings exchanged a look of fear and resolve.
- 2:21:21They had to confront whatever it was.
- 2:21:24There was no escaping it now. Hand in hand, they crossed the
- 2:21:29threshold once more. The front door drifted shut
- 2:21:33behind them, as if guided by invisible hands, but softly this
- 2:21:39time. Inside the music box, Lullaby
- 2:21:42chimed from the parlor. The fire danced high, far too
- 2:21:47vigorous for an unattended flame.
- 2:21:51In front of the hearth stood a figure.
- 2:21:53Claire's breath. Caught as she saw the silhouette
- 2:21:57of a woman in a modest dress, Gray hair and a loose bun.
- 2:22:03Grandma. She whispered incredulously.
- 2:22:07The figure then turned. Even with her spectral
- 2:22:10translucent form, the resemblance was clear.
- 2:22:15It was Grandma Rose, just as she had looked in the old photos,
- 2:22:20eyes Milky and distant. Rose's lips curved into a gentle
- 2:22:26smile. Mark felt a lump in his throat.
- 2:22:30Could it truly be her Gran? He began taking a step forward,
- 2:22:36and then, bang. A door somewhere upstairs
- 2:22:39slammed violently, cutting him off.
- 2:22:43Rose's apparition suddenly flickered, her kindly smile
- 2:22:47twisting into an expression of terror.
- 2:22:51She lifted an arm and pointed. Towards the stairs.
- 2:22:55Claire and Mark both turned to look, and at the top of the
- 2:22:59staircase stood another figure, shrouded in darkness.
- 2:23:04Lightning flashed through a window, illuminating the form.
- 2:23:09A tall man in an old fashioned suit, half his face cast in the
- 2:23:14shadow. Their grandfather Thomas, or
- 2:23:19what remained of him. His eyes were fixed on rows with
- 2:23:24a look of longing and rage combined.
- 2:23:28Claire realized they were witnessing an echo of the past,
- 2:23:33the final night of Rose's life, perhaps.
- 2:23:37Rose's ghostly form backed away toward the earth.
- 2:23:41I won't go with you, she whispered, voice thin and
- 2:23:46warbling with age and fear. The man at the stairs.
- 2:23:51Thomas's ghost descended step by step, each footfall A dole thud.
- 2:24:00The house reacted with creaks and a sudden gust that whisked
- 2:24:04papers off the tables. Mark grabbed Claire's arm.
- 2:24:09We need to stop this. He yelled over the rising wind
- 2:24:12that seemed to swirl inside the house.
- 2:24:15The siblings placed themselves between the ghosts.
- 2:24:19Claire, with tears streaming, shouted to the man.
- 2:24:23Leave her alone, she's not yours to take.
- 2:24:28Thomas's ghost paused, as if noticing the living for the
- 2:24:31first time. His eyes black pits, bore into
- 2:24:37Claire. She felt a stab of ice in her
- 2:24:40chest and staggered. Mark moved in front of her
- 2:24:45protectively. The music box melody warped and
- 2:24:49slowed and then stopped. She is mine, Thomas's voice
- 2:24:55rumbled, sounding like dry leaves.
- 2:24:59With a burst of speed, his spirit lunged.
- 2:25:04Rose's ghost wailed, and suddenly the room exploded in
- 2:25:09chaos. The fire blew out, plunging
- 2:25:13everything into strobing darkness, lit only by the
- 2:25:17flashes of lightning. Picture frames flew from the
- 2:25:21walls, chattering around them. An unseen force shoved Mark hard
- 2:25:28and he crashed against the wall, knocking the breath out of him.
- 2:25:32Claire screamed as an antique vase lifted and hurled toward
- 2:25:36her. She ducked and it smashed on the
- 2:25:40wall behind. Amidst the frenzy, Thomas's
- 2:25:44apparition advanced on roses, driving her into a corner.
- 2:25:50His form growing larger and more menacing with each step.
- 2:25:56Summoning courage, Claire scrambled up and did the only
- 2:26:00thing that she could think of. She grabbed the music box from
- 2:26:04the Mantel. It was still open, the key
- 2:26:08turning on its own. Grandpa Thomas.
- 2:26:12She screamed out. The dark figure halted and
- 2:26:17twisted his head toward her unnaturally.
- 2:26:20Claire's voice shook, but she pressed on.
- 2:26:25You don't belong here anymore, and Grandma doesn't want to go
- 2:26:29with you. In response, Thomas's ghost let
- 2:26:34out a growl that resonated through the floorboards.
- 2:26:38Mark regained his feet and rushed to Claire's side.
- 2:26:43Together, they faced the entity. Claire, in a burst of defiance,
- 2:26:49began to wind down the toy box, forcing it to stop.
- 2:26:53The lullaby's notes slowed to a crawl.
- 2:26:57The raging activity in the house seemed to falter uncertainly.
- 2:27:02Rose's ghost, quivering, took the chance to slip away from the
- 2:27:06corner and move near the siblings, as if seeking shelter
- 2:27:10behind them. You can't have her.
- 2:27:13Mark shouted. And you can't have us either.
- 2:27:17He grabbed an iron poker from beside the fireplace,
- 2:27:20brandishing it. The iron glinted.
- 2:27:24Traditionally, iron was said to ward off spirits.
- 2:27:28Thomas's ghost recoiled at the side of the poker, his form
- 2:27:33flickering. The Thunder outside built into a
- 2:27:37crescendo as the storm peaked. The Dark Specter's face
- 2:27:42contorted with fury and a rasping voice that no longer
- 2:27:47resembled their grandfathers. It hissed.
- 2:27:51All of you are mine. Blood of my blood.
- 2:27:56You belong to this house. With that, Thomas's spirit
- 2:28:01surged forward in a final furious attempt, the wind of his
- 2:28:06passing dousing even the embers and the earth.
- 2:28:10Mark instinctively thrust the poker out.
- 2:28:13There was a sound like a scream mixed with a howl, and the metal
- 2:28:17passed through the apparition, which shrieked and burst apart
- 2:28:23into a cloud of black, swirling smoke.
- 2:28:27The force of it knocked both siblings backward on the floor.
- 2:28:31The cloud of darkness swirled violently around the ceiling and
- 2:28:36then streamed up the staircase and vanished into the attic with
- 2:28:41a final ear splitting shriek. Silence fell, broken only by the
- 2:28:48distant patter of rain on the roof.
- 2:28:51The furniture settled. The house stood calm and still,
- 2:28:57as if nothing had happened. Claire and Mark sat up,
- 2:29:01trembling and clinging to each other.
- 2:29:05The only light now came from the occasional flicker of lightning.
- 2:29:09Rose's ghost stood before them, her form now gentle and sad.
- 2:29:16Thank you, she whispered, her voice clearer now.
- 2:29:21Her eyes meant Claire's, and marks in turn.
- 2:29:24They felt a warmth, a grandmother's love emanate from
- 2:29:30her. Rose drifted closer, reaching
- 2:29:34out a translucent hand. Claire felt a soft touch brush
- 2:29:38her hair. It felt like a cool breeze,
- 2:29:42stroking her, yet comforting her as well.
- 2:29:46Mark heard a faint echo of his name in Rose's voice.
- 2:29:51Rose's ghost pointed once more, this time toward the diary on
- 2:29:55the floor, as if urging them to remember what they had learned.
- 2:30:00Then she gazed upward toward the attic where the darkness had
- 2:30:04fled. Her task was unfinished.
- 2:30:08Thomas's tormented spirit was still up there, but dawn was
- 2:30:13approaching. Through a window, the siblings
- 2:30:16could see the storm was passing and the black of the night was
- 2:30:21giving way to early grey. Rose's figure started to fade
- 2:30:26with the coming light. Claire found herself crying out.
- 2:30:31Grandma, wait, what should we do?
- 2:30:35Rose turned to them one last time.
- 2:30:38Her face was peaceful. Live, she whispered, the word
- 2:30:43echoing in the air. And then she was gone, her form
- 2:30:49dissolving into the first ray of morning sun that peeked through
- 2:30:55the broken clouds. Morning light flooded the ruined
- 2:30:59parlor. The aftermath was evident.
- 2:31:04Shattered glass, toppled furniture, water dripping from a
- 2:31:09broken window pane so it smeared across the walls.
- 2:31:15Mark and Claire sat amid the debris, exhausted and bewildered
- 2:31:21but alive. The oppressive heaviness that
- 2:31:24had plagued Ashwood House seemed lifted.
- 2:31:29The air felt lighter, cleansed by the rain and perhaps by the
- 2:31:34departure of Rose's ghost. Thomas's presence was no longer
- 2:31:40palpable, though an uneasy feeling lingered, knowing some
- 2:31:44part of him remained trapped in the attic.
- 2:31:48With unspoken agreement, the siblings began to clean up as
- 2:31:52best as they could. It felt almost like tending to a
- 2:31:56grave, a sign of respect for the house and their ancestors.
- 2:32:04They worked quietly, side by side.
- 2:32:07Claire's hands still shook when she picked up the remnants of
- 2:32:11the music box, its hinge broken from when she wrenched it.
- 2:32:18She found the tiny photograph that had been inside the lid, a
- 2:32:23picture of Grandma Rose and Grandfather Thomas and happier
- 2:32:28times long before death and despair overtook them.
- 2:32:36Mark gently took it from her and set it aside carefully.
- 2:32:41By the afternoon, the sky was clear and pale.
- 2:32:46Mark had repaired one of the car's tires with the spare and
- 2:32:49patch kit. The others he managed to inflate
- 2:32:53just enough with a portable pump would be a slow, careful drive
- 2:32:59back to town, but it was possible.
- 2:33:03They packed with few items they were taking, notably the diary
- 2:33:08and papers. As they stood on the porch,
- 2:33:11ready to depart, Claire turned to look back into the house.
- 2:33:17Sunbeams slanted through the open door, illuminating motes of
- 2:33:22dust dancing in the air. In the daylight, the house
- 2:33:27looked merely old and sad, not frightening.
- 2:33:32Her eyes landed on the staircase and followed it up to the
- 2:33:35shadows of the attic door. A chill ran through her.
- 2:33:39She remembered the inky cloud of Thomas's spirit fleeing there.
- 2:33:45Would he still be lurking and waiting there for them?
- 2:33:50We could burn it down. Mark said abruptly, reading her
- 2:33:54thoughts. His voice was flat, but Claire
- 2:33:58heard the conflict in it. This house held so much pain.
- 2:34:03Perhaps destroying it would end Thomas's curse.
- 2:34:07She considered the idea. Strike a match and let the old
- 2:34:12wood and all of its ghosts turn into ash.
- 2:34:16She even imagined Rose's spirit might approve freeing Thomas and
- 2:34:21herself from this limbo. Claire stepped off the porch and
- 2:34:26looked at the weathered facade one last time.
- 2:34:29No, she said quietly. This was home to those we loved.
- 2:34:35It's part of us. She reached and took Mark's
- 2:34:38hand. We'll let it stand, We'll let it
- 2:34:43rest. Maybe in time, what haunts it
- 2:34:46will fade. Mark searched her eyes and then
- 2:34:51nodded. They locked the front door and
- 2:34:54walked to the car. The Sullivan's siblings drove
- 2:34:58away from the Ashwood house as the afternoon light grew golden.
- 2:35:03The tires crunched over gravel, then found the main road.
- 2:35:08Neither spoke for a long while, each replaying the night's
- 2:35:13events feeling unreal yet etched in their minds forever.
- 2:35:19Finally, Mark broke the silence. Claire, about what happened last
- 2:35:26night, what we saw. She placed a hand on his arm
- 2:35:30gently. I know it was real.
- 2:35:35We'll figure it out together. For the first time in years,
- 2:35:40Mark allowed himself to feel the grief of their mother's death
- 2:35:44and the weight of their family's history.
- 2:35:48He blinked back tears. Claire, resting her head on his
- 2:35:52shoulder briefly as he drove, offered him solace.
- 2:35:57They had faced the darkness and survived, and in doing so had
- 2:36:03repaired something in their own relationship that had long been
- 2:36:06strained by unspoken fears. As the car rounded a bend,
- 2:36:13Ashwood House vanished from the rear view mirror.
- 2:36:16Claire let out a long breath. Do you think he'll ever find
- 2:36:20peace? She asked softly, referring to
- 2:36:23their grandfather's angry spirit.
- 2:36:26Mark was quiet for a moment. I hope so, he said.
- 2:36:31Maybe Grandma will help him wherever they are now.
- 2:36:35Claire nodded. She like to think of Rose
- 2:36:38guiding Thomas into the light, forgiving him for whatever sins
- 2:36:42kept him bound. The alternative, that his spirit
- 2:36:46remained in the attic, forever mad and vengeful, was too grim.
- 2:36:53However, she couldn't help but imagine in her mind's eye that
- 2:36:57back at the house, a curtain moved in the upper window, as if
- 2:37:02a person unseen watched them leave.
- 2:37:05And for a brief second, the pale face, Thomas's gaunt visage
- 2:37:11pressed to the glass. But as the Sullivan siblings
- 2:37:15drove further away, heading toward a new dawn, that face
- 2:37:20melted back into the shadows. For now.
- 2:37:24The house then truly fell silent.
- 2:37:28The cycle of anguish that had gripped it for generations was
- 2:37:32broken at last, or at least suspended.
- 2:37:38On the road ahead, sunlight broke through the trees, and
- 2:37:42Claire cracked her window to feel the fresh breeze.
- 2:37:46It felt like a blessing, the cool.
- 2:37:49Wind of freedom. Mark reached over and squeezed
- 2:37:53her hand, and she squeezed back. Whatever lay ahead, be it
- 2:37:58healing or nightmares from what they had endured, they would not
- 2:38:03face it alone. In the distance, Thunder rumbled
- 2:38:07one last time, but it was moving off, leaving clearer skies
- 2:38:12behind. Ashwood House stood quietly
- 2:38:15against the horizon, a silent witness to both the sorrows of
- 2:38:20the past and the courage of the living.
- 2:38:24And though its shadows still held echoes of yesterday's
- 2:38:27ghosts, new light had begun to Pierce the darkness. 1 ray of
- 2:38:33hope at a time after. Exploring a tunnel with a dark
- 2:38:42and terrifying history, a couple soon learns that they're home
- 2:38:47has been invaded by an uninvited darkness.
- 2:38:52The Presence toys with them, but in due time it would reveal the
- 2:38:57true horror of its nature. Will they survive or will the
- 2:39:03Abyss take? Them.
- 2:39:05This is the true and terrifying story of Candace and John St.
- 2:39:10Clair's Haunting, which took place in Appalachia in 2010.
- 2:39:16And this one. As with most of the stories I've
- 2:39:19researched and covered on this channel, I wouldn't recommend
- 2:39:23watching this episode in the dark unless you like looking
- 2:39:27over your shoulder and jumping at every small noise that goes
- 2:39:33bump in the night. Nestled on the banks of the
- 2:39:37Lavisa River and surrounded by the mountains of Appalachia lies
- 2:39:43the small town of Grundy, Virginia, a place now known for
- 2:39:48community pride and also has a dark history from slavery to
- 2:39:55mine, explosions and other accidents.
- 2:40:00These events weave a complicated web of despair.
- 2:40:04Despair that could have perhaps played a role in the story that
- 2:40:08I'm about to tell. Candace St.
- 2:40:12Clair shivered despite the warm Virginia air as she and her
- 2:40:16husband, John, stood before the gaping mouth of an abandoned
- 2:40:21tunnel. A jagged arch of crumbling stone
- 2:40:25loomed over them, covered in streaks of Moss and graffiti.
- 2:40:31The surrounding forest was eerily quiet, as if even the
- 2:40:36animals avoided this place. Grippy as hell, huh?
- 2:40:40John smirked, his flashlight cutting through the darkness.
- 2:40:46The beam barely penetrated the tunnel's interior.
- 2:40:50It was swallowed almost immediately by thick blackness
- 2:40:54within. Yeah, let's just get this over
- 2:40:57with. Candace murmured, gripping his
- 2:41:00arm. Their friend Stacy had told them
- 2:41:03about the tunnel's legend, a story that intrigued the couple,
- 2:41:08the one that almost made them air on the side of caution.
- 2:41:13The story was that a wealthy man back in the 1800s had built this
- 2:41:18tunnel using slave labor. One night he had caught one of
- 2:41:23the slaves with his wife. Angered at this discovery, he
- 2:41:28punished the slave responsible, and as a result the other slaves
- 2:41:34had begun to rebel against him in an act of rage and malice.
- 2:41:40The slave master then took the majority of his slaves and had
- 2:41:44them sealed within the walls of the tunnels, alive forever
- 2:41:51encasing the human souls within the tunnel itself.
- 2:41:57The whispered stories of phantom voices in the dark, feeling
- 2:42:01unseen hands brushing against visitors, and worst of all, the
- 2:42:06belief that something unexplained lurked inside,
- 2:42:11watching and waiting for the unsuspecting.
- 2:42:16It was just a legend, they had told themselves.
- 2:42:20A story. But even standing at the
- 2:42:23entrance, Candace felt an inexplicable weight pressing on
- 2:42:28her chest. Candace adjusted the recorder in
- 2:42:32her hand. She'd always been sensitive to
- 2:42:35the paranormal, and while John treated their ghost hunting
- 2:42:39adventures as a joke, she felt drawn to this place, as if
- 2:42:44something was calling her. As they stepped inside, the
- 2:42:49temperature plummeted then, as John whispered A mocking.
- 2:42:55Come out, come out wherever you are.
- 2:42:58Almost as soon as the words left his lips, A rush of chilly wind
- 2:43:03blasted past them, and the couple believed that they had
- 2:43:07heard a series of whispers, ones that were just beyond their
- 2:43:12ability to make out what they were saying.
- 2:43:16Candace's stomach twisted. They weren't alone.
- 2:43:21Frightened, she then asked John to leave.
- 2:43:26That night, when they returned home, things felt off.
- 2:43:32Their new house had felt warm and inviting, but that night,
- 2:43:37the air inside felt stagnant, damp and heavy, like the inside
- 2:43:44of a tomb. It felt smothering, as if an
- 2:43:48unseen weight pressed against their chests.
- 2:43:52The couple had recently purchased and moved into their
- 2:43:55home, which was located on the outskirts of town.
- 2:44:00Just close enough to town for errands and just far out enough
- 2:44:04for peace. And things hadn't at all felt
- 2:44:08this way before. Deciding that perhaps their
- 2:44:12nerves were getting the best of them, the couple, along with
- 2:44:15their daughter, decided to lay down for the night for some much
- 2:44:20needed rest. But as the moonlight cast its
- 2:44:23shadow upon the rocky exterior of the mountains surrounding
- 2:44:28them, and nocturnal predators haunted their prey, perhaps a
- 2:44:33different hunter of swords now also stalked its prey within the
- 2:44:39walls of the Saint Clair home, their five year old daughter
- 2:44:44Jaycee tossed and turned in her sleep.
- 2:44:47She seemed to be calling out to someone or something.
- 2:44:52Her cries caught the attention of her mother, who quickly got
- 2:44:56out of bed herself and began to head toward her room.
- 2:45:00However, when Candace entered her room, expecting to see her
- 2:45:05daughter laying in her bed, perhaps having a nightmare, she
- 2:45:10instead found the little girl sitting straight up in bed.
- 2:45:14She was staring at the corner of her room by her closet.
- 2:45:19Sweetie. Candace whispered, stepping
- 2:45:22closer. Are you OK?
- 2:45:25Jaycee turned to look at her, blinking slowly as if waking
- 2:45:30from a dream. The man in the tunnel is here,
- 2:45:34Mommy. Candace's blood turned to ice.
- 2:45:38They had not taken Jaycee with them to the tunnel, nor had they
- 2:45:42mentioned it to her or around her.
- 2:45:46Following that night's events, Jaycee would have nightmares
- 2:45:50night after night. She would say that the man from
- 2:45:53the tunnel was there with her and it scared her.
- 2:45:58Accompanying these nightmares, the young girl also soon started
- 2:46:02sleepwalking, often times startling her parents awake in
- 2:46:07their own room by standing next to their bed with a glazed look
- 2:46:11in her eyes. But when she'd be asked by her
- 2:46:15parents what she was doing, she wouldn't be able to remember
- 2:46:19what had happened. Trying to play off the mention
- 2:46:24of any man from the tunnel, they figured their poor daughter was
- 2:46:28just struggling to get used to a new environment.
- 2:46:32That perhaps the stress of the move alongside other changes had
- 2:46:37caused the sudden development, that she would get used to
- 2:46:41things in due time. Perhaps she would, or perhaps
- 2:46:47not. With her husband working on a
- 2:46:50project in the basement and her daughter at dance practice,
- 2:46:55Candace, who sewed pageant clothes for Jaycee in her spare
- 2:46:58time, was doing so. One evening, as she toiled away
- 2:47:03on her sewing machine, the calm, rhythmic hum was abruptly
- 2:47:08shattered by a deafening crashing noise that echoed all
- 2:47:13throughout the house. Unsure of just what on earth the
- 2:47:17sound was, with her heart hammering inside of her chest
- 2:47:22and her adrenaline surging, she made her way from the upstairs
- 2:47:26sewing room down the stairs, apprehensively checking all
- 2:47:31around with each step as she descended.
- 2:47:35She then heard it again, the sound of glass breaking.
- 2:47:41It seemed to be originating from the kitchen, but just what or
- 2:47:46who was doing this? As she approached the kitchen,
- 2:47:51she would be shocked by what she would find before her very eyes.
- 2:47:57Every single cabinet door stood open their contents.
- 2:48:02Her dishes lay in shattered remains on the floor.
- 2:48:07Bowls, plates and cups of every kind lay in pieces everywhere,
- 2:48:13scattered as if someone or something had removed them from
- 2:48:19the cabinets and with great force threw them down with
- 2:48:24incredible impact. In her own words, every single
- 2:48:30cabinet door was open and every single dish I had was broken.
- 2:48:37I didn't have a plate or a glass left.
- 2:48:41Everything I had was completely smashed.
- 2:48:45That was except a small decorative plate that was on
- 2:48:49display there in her kitchen. However, before her very eyes,
- 2:48:55she watched as it began to move on its own, wobbling back and
- 2:49:01forth. It then flew across the room
- 2:49:04towards her and shattered on the wall next to her.
- 2:49:09With her daughter and husband nowhere near the general
- 2:49:12vicinity and in a state of shock, Candace screamed for her
- 2:49:17husband. Hearing the cries of his wife,
- 2:49:21John soon arrived by her side from elsewhere in the house.
- 2:49:26He too couldn't believe what he was witnessing, asking her just
- 2:49:30how this happened. With her telling him that she
- 2:49:33came downstairs to this, his mind immediately thought that
- 2:49:38there could perhaps be an intruder within the home.
- 2:49:42Quickly going into protector mode, John began sweeping the
- 2:49:46house. Not only did he not find anyone,
- 2:49:51but all of the doors and windows were still locked.
- 2:49:55This just further added to the mystery.
- 2:49:59Jaycee, who has continued to struggle with nightmares and
- 2:50:03apparent sleepwalking, has begun sleeping with her parents in an
- 2:50:08effort to quell everyone's fears.
- 2:50:12A few nights later, following the kitchen incident as the moon
- 2:50:17hung high over the Saint Clair residence, Candace wakes up out
- 2:50:22of a sound sleep. The air in the house felt heavy
- 2:50:26and damp yet again. She was sweating and there
- 2:50:31didn't seem to be any circulation in the air.
- 2:50:34Getting up to turn on the air conditioner, she walks down the
- 2:50:38stairs and towards the thermostat on the wall at the
- 2:50:41bottom. Wiping sweat from her brow, she
- 2:50:45then reaches out to turn it on and adjust the temperature of
- 2:50:49the house. When all of a sudden she felt a
- 2:50:53hand grip her wrist and her own words yet again.
- 2:50:59I felt something grab my wrist and I knew my family was asleep
- 2:51:04upstairs. My heart skipped a beat.
- 2:51:09I turned around and there was nothing there.
- 2:51:13I was terrified. I looked down the hallway and I
- 2:51:18didn't see anything. There was nothing there.
- 2:51:23I thought, am I going crazy? Am I just really sleepy?
- 2:51:29I wasn't sure. So, not knowing what to make of
- 2:51:34the bizarre experience, she slowly starts walking back up
- 2:51:38the stairs. Still scared, but certainly
- 2:51:43unsure, she decides that this time she'll keep the experience
- 2:51:48to herself. But whatever force that seemed
- 2:51:52to lurk in the shadows was far from finished.
- 2:51:57Over the next several weeks to come, Candace continues to
- 2:52:01experience strange manifestations within her home,
- 2:52:06things that begin to make her second guess herself and
- 2:52:10question her own sanity. One night, while John is at
- 2:52:15work, Candace puts Jaycee to bed, in her own room this time,
- 2:52:21Or so she thinks. As she folds laundry downstairs,
- 2:52:26she hears her daughter, still awake, heading back upstairs and
- 2:52:31approaching her room to tell her that it's time for bed.
- 2:52:35She instead comes face to face with nothing.
- 2:52:41The room is empty. Then from behind her, she begins
- 2:52:46to hear multiple things that are very odd to say the least.
- 2:52:51She begins to hear the sound of her daughter giggling and
- 2:52:55laughing from the other room. Now she walks towards these
- 2:52:59sounds. She begins to hear something
- 2:53:02else, The sounds of labored, heavy breathing.
- 2:53:08Continuing to follow the sounds of her daughter's laughter, she
- 2:53:12finds herself approaching her own bedroom.
- 2:53:16Upon opening the door, thinking her daughter is playing some
- 2:53:19sort of trick on her, she instead finds her fast asleep
- 2:53:25and her in John's bed. Unsure yet again what to make of
- 2:53:29this very unnerving experience, she turns around and quietly
- 2:53:35shuts the door behind her. After doing so, she takes
- 2:53:40several steps down the hallway toward the direction of the
- 2:53:44stairs. The lights begin to flicker.
- 2:53:48Looking around, slightly disoriented at first, she finds
- 2:53:54her eyes landing on a figure at the end of the hallway.
- 2:53:59This figure is much too large to be a man.
- 2:54:03It stands at least 10 feet tall, and at first, given its distance
- 2:54:08from her, it appears dark as the night.
- 2:54:13However, as it begins slowly and menacingly walking towards her,
- 2:54:19she starts to make out horrid features and Candace's own
- 2:54:24words. This thing was huge, easily 10
- 2:54:28feet tall. It had horns and scales.
- 2:54:34I began to freeze. It's like everything froze my
- 2:54:39thoughts and everything. There was just this one moment
- 2:54:43of absolute silence. Time stands still briefly and
- 2:54:49then you're jerked back into reality.
- 2:54:53And then you go into survival mode.
- 2:54:56As the creature gets closer to her, she makes out it's
- 2:55:00abhorrent and terrifying features.
- 2:55:04It then, staring at her with jet black eyes, protruding teeth and
- 2:55:10horns, reaches towards her with clawed hands.
- 2:55:16Almost as soon as it makes contact with her skin, a scream
- 2:55:20erupts from her lips. She is touched, but not by this
- 2:55:25creature. Instead, her screams are
- 2:55:29interrupted by her husband, who has found her screaming at the
- 2:55:35end of the hallway in front of their bedroom door.
- 2:55:40In John's words, I had worked late that evening and when I had
- 2:55:45got home I found her like that and she was incredibly upset.
- 2:55:51Asking his wife Candace what's wrong, she then tries to explain
- 2:55:56what she had seen and experienced.
- 2:56:00But words can only do so much, with first their daughters night
- 2:56:05terrors and their dishes being broken and now this.
- 2:56:11She believes that there is something here in the house and
- 2:56:15that she may have just seen what it is.
- 2:56:19John, however, feels differently.
- 2:56:22He just thought his wife. May have been having a bit of an
- 2:56:25emotional breakdown, not only from being overworked but with
- 2:56:30him having to often times work long hours.
- 2:56:33He thought maybe she just needed a break to recuperate.
- 2:56:37But Candace knows what she saw. She tells him.
- 2:56:42You know what, you can take it or leave it.
- 2:56:45But I know what I saw, and I know that there's something in
- 2:56:48this house. There's something going on here
- 2:56:51that's deeper than either of us can imagine.
- 2:56:55And I don't feel safe here anymore.
- 2:56:59This event proves to be a diverging event for the couple
- 2:57:02following it. Candace finds it hard to confide
- 2:57:06in her husband and the two grow distant.
- 2:57:10One afternoon, shortly after Candace had seen the creature,
- 2:57:15she was measuring her daughter for a new pageant dress in the
- 2:57:18family living room. John, who was off work that day,
- 2:57:24was watching TV. Occasionally the TV had done
- 2:57:29strange things such as cycle through the channels.
- 2:57:33He meant a loud high pitched noise or turn itself on and off
- 2:57:40without any involvement of the remote or the physical pressing
- 2:57:44of buttons. It started doing this again as
- 2:57:48the three were in the room together.
- 2:57:52Believing it to be an electrical short within that part of the
- 2:57:55house, John dismisses the TV's strange behavior.
- 2:58:00He then goes and unplugs it as it's cycling through the
- 2:58:04channels and making the high pitched noise.
- 2:58:08The screen then goes black as he gets back up to head to get some
- 2:58:13of his tools to take a look at the wiring in front of all three
- 2:58:18of them. The TV turns back on with Jaycee
- 2:58:24asking just what the television was doing as Candace and John
- 2:58:28stare and bewilderment at it, for it's on and acting erratic
- 2:58:34with no power source at all at that.
- 2:58:38Neither of them know what to tell her, or even what to say
- 2:58:42for that matter. Finally, after a few seconds
- 2:58:47that feel like hours, Candace breaks the silence.
- 2:58:52She says I don't feel safe here, we need to leave.
- 2:58:57She then tells Jaycee that the two of them are going to go to
- 2:59:00the park. In her own words, that was my
- 2:59:05breaking point with John. He was looking around and
- 2:59:08thinking what do I check now because he had checked
- 2:59:12everything and the TV was on without being plugged in.
- 2:59:18Several weeks would pass by after this event and the once
- 2:59:22happy couple had further drifted apart.
- 2:59:26Their once thriving marriage and relationship were practically
- 2:59:30non existent. Communication had broken down in
- 2:59:35a blanket of sorrow now covered them all.
- 2:59:40One night, as John had some beers downstairs by himself
- 2:59:45while his wife and child slept upstairs, Candace is suddenly
- 2:59:51and brutally woken up by large clawed hands strangling her.
- 2:59:57She can't scream and she can't breathe.
- 3:00:01She's then thrown from her. Side of the bed to the other.
- 3:00:05As she rolls gasping for air, she looks up and sees what she
- 3:00:11describes as a gargoyle like creature, the same one she had
- 3:00:17seen in the hallway a good while ago now.
- 3:00:22Its skin was like leather, its eyes were black as the abyss and
- 3:00:28its face was semi human in appearance.
- 3:00:33She would later say that while she was in that moment I felt as
- 3:00:38if this thing had taken everything else from me and now
- 3:00:42it was going to take my life. All I could think.
- 3:00:45About was that. I'm going to die, I'm not going
- 3:00:48to be here anymore. My family isn't going to have me
- 3:00:52anymore. And it was the most terrifying
- 3:00:55feeling imaginable. Now off the bed and her back
- 3:01:00against the bedroom wall, the creature once again comes after
- 3:01:04her. As John sits downstairs, he is
- 3:01:08soon called to action when he hears the shrill screams of his
- 3:01:12wife upstairs rushing to their bedroom.
- 3:01:16As fast as he possibly. Can he finds Candace crying out
- 3:01:20in pain and in a ball on the floor.
- 3:01:25After helping her back on to the bed she tells him that this
- 3:01:29thing, this creature attacked her.
- 3:01:33She then when singing pain lifts up her shirt to reveal 3 long
- 3:01:39and huge bleeding scratch marks across her stomach.
- 3:01:44John doesn't know what to make of the situation.
- 3:01:48Candace is now far past the point of trying to convince him
- 3:01:52that something is haunting their home.
- 3:01:55She instead puts her faith in her higher power.
- 3:01:59But after reaching out to dozens of churches and religious
- 3:02:03organizations and having no help or the offer of assistance from
- 3:02:08any of them, she knows that it's up to her to fight this battle
- 3:02:14for the sake of herself and her family without their assistance.
- 3:02:20After doing research on the Internet, she puts together a
- 3:02:24list of specific prayers and gets several bottles of anointed
- 3:02:29oil. She then, after a deep breath,
- 3:02:33begins the cleansing of her house.
- 3:02:37She goes room to room, putting the anointed oil on each doorway
- 3:02:42and calling out from her Bible for God to clear the home of any
- 3:02:47negative beings that could be there uninvited.
- 3:02:51From the back of the house to the front, she is cleansing and
- 3:02:56reclaiming her home. Following her efforts, she
- 3:03:00immediately notices that the environment as a whole feels so
- 3:03:04much lighter. The air seemed fresher and
- 3:03:08easier to breathe. In the coming weeks this would
- 3:03:12continue to be the case, but in the back of her mind she was
- 3:03:18frightened that whatever this entity was could potentially
- 3:03:22come back. Life for a time seemed to go
- 3:03:26back to normal for the Saint Claire's and although weary they
- 3:03:31all tried to resume their normal day-to-day activities.
- 3:03:36That was until 1 solemn night. John is in the bedroom, changing
- 3:03:42his clothes after a work day when he soon gets the sneaking
- 3:03:46suspicion that someone is watching him.
- 3:03:51Turning around and expecting to perhaps see his wife standing in
- 3:03:55the room, he is instead greeted by something very different.
- 3:04:01In his words, it looked like a person in the face, but it was
- 3:04:07distorted. It had these Longhorns and teeth
- 3:04:12and these scales. It just kept getting closer and
- 3:04:17closer to me, and the closer it got to me, the hotter I got.
- 3:04:24Now sweating profusely with the creature mere inches away from
- 3:04:28him, it then points its clawed finger towards his chest and
- 3:04:35within seconds it's holding his beating heart.
- 3:04:40As he stands there, petrified with fear and struggling to
- 3:04:45breathe, this creature is just staring back at him with black
- 3:04:50eyes holding his heart. John suddenly wakes up out of a
- 3:04:56dead sleep. Thankfully it was just a dream.
- 3:05:01I'll be it. A horrible one at that.
- 3:05:05After calming himself down, which takes several minutes, he
- 3:05:10finally lays his head back down to try and rest again.
- 3:05:14But when his head hits the pillow, he then starts hearing
- 3:05:19footsteps from somewhere else in the house.
- 3:05:24With his adrenaline surging and already on the edge from his
- 3:05:27nightmare, he quickly gets up to investigate.
- 3:05:32Peering out into the hallway, he sees nothing.
- 3:05:37With Candace still asleep in their bed and now checking on
- 3:05:41their daughter, she too is asleep.
- 3:05:45Continuing to hear footsteps downstairs, he slowly makes his
- 3:05:50way down to the base level, further fearing what he may
- 3:05:54find. Glancing around at first he sees
- 3:05:59nothing yet again, but turning back after looking behind
- 3:06:03himself, he is suddenly face to face with a massive figure.
- 3:06:10It's skin is rough and cracked, like aged leather stretched too
- 3:06:16tight over jagged bones. The eyes were pits of blackness,
- 3:06:23voids that seemed to drink the light around them.
- 3:06:27It didn't move, and it didn't blink.
- 3:06:31It only watched. But in an instant, with
- 3:06:35incredible speed, it surged toward him and grabbed him by
- 3:06:40his throat with its gnarled, clawed hand.
- 3:06:45In John's words, in the blink of an eye, it grabbed my neck and
- 3:06:51lifted me straight up and off the ground.
- 3:06:55It seemed like it was letting me know that it was there, that it
- 3:06:59was in control, and I wasn't. Then, almost as quickly as the
- 3:07:06attack had begun, it was over. John was thrown to the ground,
- 3:07:12discarded like garbage as he lay alternating between gasping and
- 3:07:19screaming. Candace soon rushes to his aid.
- 3:07:24The touch of her hand on his arm causes his adrenaline to spike
- 3:07:28and he shoots up to the sitting position.
- 3:07:32Then, realizing that it was his wife and not that thing, he
- 3:07:38begins to apologize profusely. After validating one another
- 3:07:43with John now absolutely convinced that there is
- 3:07:46something malevolent and paranormal dwelling within the
- 3:07:50walls of their home, the Saint Clair's know that they must try
- 3:07:54and seek help immediately. Together, they begin researching
- 3:08:00and eventually come across the Southern Highlands Paranormal
- 3:08:04Investigation Group. Upon speaking with one of its
- 3:08:08members, a man named Stacy Kuchner, the group soon agrees
- 3:08:13to come and conduct a formal investigation of the property.
- 3:08:19Upon arrival, Stacy and one of his colleagues decide to conduct
- 3:08:24a series of questions to whatever force may be lurking
- 3:08:27there using the flashlight method in conjunction with an
- 3:08:32audio device in the hopes of capturing Evps or electronic
- 3:08:37voice phenomena. The flashlight method that one
- 3:08:42places a flashlight upright on a table and asks the spirits to
- 3:08:46reply using yes or no responses through turning off and on the
- 3:08:52light for a good while. The team is unsuccessful in
- 3:08:57making any sort of contact, however upon asking if whatever
- 3:09:03stalked the family had followed them from another place, the
- 3:09:08flashlight suddenly turns itself on.
- 3:09:13A follow up question is then asked.
- 3:09:16Are you a malevolent force? The flashlight once again lights
- 3:09:20up these questions and the following frighten and confirm
- 3:09:26what Candace and John already knew.
- 3:09:29The final question is are you demonic or non human in nature?
- 3:09:36To which the flashlight, once again brighter than ever,
- 3:09:41illuminates the room. Stacy then tells the couple that
- 3:09:46it's important that they try and figure out why this entity
- 3:09:49followed them and from where, in order to try and rid themselves
- 3:09:54of the attachment. Candace tells him that ever
- 3:09:59since she was little, she seemed to be able to sense certain
- 3:10:03things, almost as if she's in tune with the other side.
- 3:10:09This is not information she has ever shared out loud before with
- 3:10:13anyone believing that Candace could perhaps be sensitive to
- 3:10:18the paranormal, and upon further inquiry, the couple remembers
- 3:10:23the tunnel all those months ago. With this information, Stacy
- 3:10:29thinks that it's possible that a demonic entity may have attached
- 3:10:33itself to Candace while they were there due to her abilities.
- 3:10:39In Stacy's words, due to all the evil that had taken place there,
- 3:10:44and also due to its secluded nature, it was really a prime
- 3:10:48breeding ground for something dark to manifest itself.
- 3:10:52Someone who is psychic may inadvertently be open in a
- 3:10:56spiritual sense and must be extra careful when traveling to
- 3:11:01different locations because any negative forces may realize
- 3:11:05their presence and seek them out, leading to attachments.
- 3:11:11Believing the presence to be demonic, he tells the couple
- 3:11:15that they must cleanse the home immediately, that only good can
- 3:11:20conquer evil. In the coming days, he puts them
- 3:11:24in contact with the Catholic priest that he has worked with
- 3:11:27in the past to come and bless the home.
- 3:11:31Upon the priest's arrival, he debriefs the family.
- 3:11:36He tells them that they must be in solidarity with one another
- 3:11:40and with him. He hands them prayer cards to
- 3:11:43assist him with the cleansing itself.
- 3:11:47Then all together, they begin to pray.
- 3:11:51They call upon Saint Michael the Archangel and ask for his
- 3:11:56assistance in riding the home of demonic forces.
- 3:12:02At the end of the blessing, the house feels better to everyone,
- 3:12:08lighter, as if whatever dark force that had infested their
- 3:12:12lives had perhaps been vanquished.
- 3:12:17In the coming months, the family slowly begins to slip back into
- 3:12:22a life of normalcy, one they had craved, but it almost all but
- 3:12:27forgotten. Beauty, pageants, closeness, and
- 3:12:31love had returned. One day as the Saint Claire's
- 3:12:36get ready to go out to dinner, Candace tells JC to quickly
- 3:12:40finish getting ready while standing outside her room.
- 3:12:45JC is sitting on her bed with one of her toys facing away from
- 3:12:50her mother. Almost as quickly as the phrase
- 3:12:53exits Candace's mouth, she hears her daughter reply to her, but
- 3:12:58not from the top of her bed in front of her eyes, but rather
- 3:13:03from behind her at the bottom of the stairs with John.
- 3:13:09Confused because she was hearing and seeing her daughter behind
- 3:13:13her, but also seeing her daughter in front of her,
- 3:13:17Candace tells Jaycee to stay with her father.
- 3:13:21The Jaycee sitting before her then slowly begins to turn its
- 3:13:26head towards Candace. In her words, this child's face
- 3:13:31was almost hazy, like blurry, as if there was something missing.
- 3:13:38As the being stares at Candace, its eyes begin to turn a
- 3:13:42familiar black color, just like the very same light absorbing
- 3:13:47abyssal spheres that have belonged to the demon that had
- 3:13:52plagued them just months ago. It then vanishes, but as it
- 3:13:58does, Candace hears the scream of her daughter at the bottom of
- 3:14:03the stairs, rushing down to her. It quickly becomes apparent that
- 3:14:08she has a long and now bleeding scratch across her face.
- 3:14:13This was the last straw for the Saint Claire's.
- 3:14:17It was horrible enough that the demon had attacked the two of
- 3:14:20them, but to attack their child? They could no longer handle it.
- 3:14:27Although the demon could potentially follow them, they
- 3:14:30decide to take their chances. Seeing no other alternative, the
- 3:14:36family abandons what was supposed to be their dream home,
- 3:14:40leaving behind all of their belongings and fleeing with just
- 3:14:45the clothes on their backs. In the months to come, the
- 3:14:50family would find another place to live.
- 3:14:54Fortunately, although they believed that the demon had
- 3:14:57attached itself to Candace. Initially, they now believed
- 3:15:01that it had attached itself to the home.
- 3:15:04Because no further activity plagued them, no more horrendous
- 3:15:09manifestations day or nightmares or hellish attacks.
- 3:15:16Although I did my best to try and find an update on the
- 3:15:19family, I wasn't able to find out exactly how they're doing
- 3:15:23now. But I hope wherever they.
- 3:15:26Are that they are safe. And truly no longer tormented by
- 3:15:31the demonic. I'm not sure if they still own
- 3:15:35the original home in which the case took place, but I do know
- 3:15:39that following their departure as soon as 2016, the house has
- 3:15:44remained vacant. In the aftermath, Candace and
- 3:15:48John turned their frightening experience into a calling.
- 3:15:53They founded a group called Spirit Seekers Paranormal
- 3:15:56Investigation Research Team in 2012, aiming to help other
- 3:16:01families deal with hauntings. This is their team's website,
- 3:16:07spiritseekersteam.wixside.com. By forming Spirit Seekers, the
- 3:16:14couple sought to do more than document ghostly activity.
- 3:16:18They wanted to actively seek and help remove evil entities and
- 3:16:23protect others from suffering like they did during their own
- 3:16:29experiences with their haunting. Candace discovered she had a
- 3:16:33spiritual gift, and as previously explained, they
- 3:16:37believed that the demon targeted her because she is sensitive to
- 3:16:41the spirit world. She has since embraced her role
- 3:16:45as a psychic medium, becoming the team's resident medium.
- 3:16:50Candace is described as a medium psychic and a magnet for
- 3:16:53paranormal activity who can communicate with spirits and
- 3:16:58help them move on. This marks a dramatic personal
- 3:17:02change from haunted victim to healer as she channels her gift
- 3:17:09to ensure others don't have to flee their homes like she once
- 3:17:13did. Before we go, I did want to
- 3:17:17share some of my thoughts on the case as a whole, in no
- 3:17:20particular order. I do think it's.
- 3:17:23Possible that the demon followed them from the tunnel.
- 3:17:26The tunnel along with many others in that area, and really
- 3:17:30the area as a whole has a lot of dark history associated with it.
- 3:17:35I think Stacy said it well when he said it seemed to be a
- 3:17:39breeding ground for evil. I think that traumatic events
- 3:17:44like the legend the Saint Clairs were originally told by their
- 3:17:47friend that prompted their interest in going in the 1st
- 3:17:50place could very well have attracted a creature of hell in
- 3:17:55my opinion. It always amazes me how often
- 3:17:58husbands don't believe their wives or have to literally be
- 3:18:02mauled by an entity in order to believe that what they've been
- 3:18:06told is actually taking place. Referring to John and many
- 3:18:11others in cases I've covered. It's not always the case, but it
- 3:18:15certainly occurs enough that it's become a bit of a trope in
- 3:18:19these stories. I also find it interesting how
- 3:18:23Candace was experiencing these Damir type experiences with the
- 3:18:27demon. The way she describes time
- 3:18:30essentially standing still as if she's entered a different plane
- 3:18:33of reality or is frozen in her own time while this entity is in
- 3:18:38proximity to her. I've heard of this in other
- 3:18:42cases and figured it was worth mentioning.
- 3:18:45Is there truly is interesting. I've heard about this in other
- 3:18:49cases and figured it was worth mentioning.
- 3:18:53It is also very interesting that Candace's cleansing as well as
- 3:18:57the priests ultimately both didn't work.
- 3:19:00Albeit they both seem to stave off the demon for a short period
- 3:19:04of time, but they didn't banish it altogether.
- 3:19:08I wonder personally if they tried any other methods or
- 3:19:11belief systems, or if they would be open to doing so if they
- 3:19:15still own the house. Also, I'm curious if they dealt
- 3:19:20with a mimic considering it masqueraded itself in various
- 3:19:24forms throughout their experiences.
- 3:19:27The whole concept of mimics terrifies me personally.
- 3:19:32There's just something about it that's just creepy.
- 3:19:36There are many questions with this case and I'd like to hear
- 3:19:39what your thoughts are down in the comments below.

- 3:20:31And over the course of this last week, I have just had a lot of
- 3:20:35personal things going on and things to do with my family and
- 3:20:39I just was not in the right space mentally to be able to do
- 3:20:42that. But thankfully, we overcome as
