Latest / What's Your (Least) Favorite Scary Movie? / #157: I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006)
Transcript
- 0:06Hello. What's your least favorite scary
- 0:08movie? The secret dies with you.
- 0:14Welcome to what, your least favorite scary movie, the
- 0:16podcast where we talk about the good, the bad, the ugly, and the
- 0:20absurd, and all of our favorite. And least favorite.
- 0:23Scary movies. Because we believe every horror
- 0:25movie rightfully has its fan base.
- 0:27Even if we don't always get it. My name is Travis.
- 0:30My name is Jesse. And welcome back, folks, because
- 0:33boy, do we have one for you today.
- 0:36We're talking about I'll always know what you did last summer.
- 0:40This is the movie that will truly.
- 0:43Make us question our thesis of the month.
- 0:46Does triples make it safe? No.
- 0:49In fact, I think this one actually answers it because the
- 0:53series died after this. Triples killed this one.
- 0:57Prime. OK, there's a TV show, but is
- 1:01that more of a book thing or is it based off of the movies?
- 1:05I don't. Know because we haven't watched.
- 1:07It I know, I heard it was terrible.
- 1:10We'll maybe watch it some way, yeah, somewhere down the line,
- 1:13but. I'm not gonna lie, there was a
- 1:16big chance that I was going to open it up with what's up,
- 1:20nerds. What's up, nerds?
- 1:22Just well, partially because there's not fun quotes to pick
- 1:25from this movie, and also because we've been on a hell of
- 1:29a McBride kick Danny over the weekend.
- 1:32Yeah, well, I was wondering like, was that a quote from the
- 1:34movie? But no, I I definitely sense The
- 1:37McBride in that. In fact, we're gonna be watching
- 1:40Danny McBride. Since we're not saying nerds
- 1:42like him. Or.
- 1:44Nerds. That's what I thought.
- 1:45Nerd. Fuck yeah, man.
- 1:47Every movie could use a little Danny McBride.
- 1:49I think this movie would have been a whole different thing if
- 1:52we had some Danny McBride. And I'm glad.
- 1:55Since we have the actor playing young Jesse and he can channel
- 1:58Danny McBride, I'm glad that we have one in reserve in case
- 2:01anything ever happens to him. They just need to always be on
- 2:04separate planes, like the president and the vice
- 2:06president. All right.
- 2:08Well, we talked about Danny McBride back in Halloween.
- 2:10We're talking about, I'll always know what you did last summer,
- 2:13but before we do that, do you have any announcements?
- 2:17Two okay one I am like 90% sure I have a sinus infection and.
- 2:28I'm at a weird place in the day where I can't take my daytime
- 2:31Sudafed cuz I won't fall asleep and I can't take my nighttime
- 2:36Sudafed because I will definitely fall asleep.
- 2:39So I'm living on albuterol and cough drops right now.
- 2:45So if I sound rough or if you hear the little clicking around
- 2:47in my teeth, that's all it is. Yeah, it's OK.
- 2:51I'm not hearing it too much myself, but I don't know what
- 2:53picks up on the mic. Sometimes we get like, random
- 2:56meows. I'm like, what the fuck?
- 2:57Yeah, yeah, it's. It was either that or see if I
- 3:00can handle editing out every single pause to take a drink of
- 3:05water or clear my throat And I went with the cough drops.
- 3:09OK, And the other is we want to acknowledge because so much of
- 3:16this podcast is born from our love of movies.
- 3:20And these movies aren't possible without the cast and crew that
- 3:22work on them. That goes to the writers, the
- 3:25directors, the editors, the sound people, the actors, the
- 3:31stunt people. All of those people are, if
- 3:35they're members of WJA or Zag, AFTRA are currently on strike
- 3:40because they're not being paid fairly now.
- 3:44Labor laws kind of a nerdy jam of mine.
- 3:47In fact, I gave Travis a brief overview of the Flsas while we
- 3:52were cooking dinner. This is true, the Flsas of the
- 3:56FLSA while we were cooking dinner.
- 3:58And I'm not gonna go into all of that, mostly because that's not
- 4:04my area of expertise. But the short version is that we
- 4:10should pay people what they're worth, and there are a lot of
- 4:12companies out there that are. Dicky doing them.
- 4:16And yeah, just skirting around as little as they can.
- 4:19Mostly streamers. Yep.
- 4:21Yep. If you ever wondered, like, why
- 4:23did they takedown this very popular show, oh, it's because
- 4:26if they don't leave it up for too long, they don't have to pay
- 4:30residuals or rights or anything to the people in person.
- 4:33Yeah, I read something about that a while ago.
- 4:35There's a lot of other little things like that that they do.
- 4:38But I wanted to go ahead and read this excerpt from Twitter
- 4:43from somebody involved. And a little movie that you all
- 4:47know I love and that would be Truth or Dare.
- 4:50So Nick Simon, Simon 367 on Twitter might as well post this
- 4:55year as well. The WGASAG Strike one small
- 4:58example. A lot of people have asked me
- 5:00questions lately about the strike, and I'm going to give
- 5:02you one small example. A film I made in 2017 premiered
- 5:05on Scifi and later on Netflix for five years.
- 5:08One year after this film came out, another studio made a
- 5:11strikingly similar film, even using the same title.
- 5:15Ironically, both were released by NBC Universal, but it's the
- 5:18Netflix portion of it I'll share with you.
- 5:21In October 2018, Netflix bought the rights to Truth or Dare and
- 5:24it immediately jumped to trending top 10 during
- 5:26Halloween. It did so well for Netflix.
- 5:29They bought the worldwide rights for five years, trending every
- 5:32Halloween season. Meanwhile, on YouTube, someone
- 5:34uploaded the entire movie, and when it was finally pulled down
- 5:37and it was at about 12 million views.
- 5:40Over the last couple of years, someone re uploaded the movie to
- 5:42YouTube where it's currently sitting at around 7.7 million
- 5:45views. Watch it here on YouTube if
- 5:47you'd like. Netflix won't share data or
- 5:49numbers, but I'm guessing based on these numbers, maybe 25
- 5:52million views of truth or dare worldwide.
- 5:55None of us. None of the cast, not the
- 5:57writer, not me. Nobody made a dime off of it
- 6:01besides the very minimal payments we received when we
- 6:03made the film. Our business is a constant
- 6:06trouble and getting. And getting residuals between
- 6:09jobs keeps us alive. When you take that away and
- 6:11devalue the creative process and the creative team that is
- 6:14driving viewers to your platform, then it takes away
- 6:17everything that this industry has built upon.
- 6:19This strike is just as important as the strike in 1960 when we
- 6:22finally got residuals and health insurance in the 1st place.
- 6:25Solidarity. So all that to say, support the
- 6:29people that make this stuff you love.
- 6:31Yeah, people aren't like. Striking because they're greedy.
- 6:35They're striking because they want to make a living wage.
- 6:38Yeah, and there's a lot of information and resources out
- 6:41there if you want a better understanding of it.
- 6:43I mean, if you've been listening to our show, then you know that
- 6:45we are no strangers to the bug Ted, and often we love the bug
- 6:49Ted. Yeah, the bug Ted's great.
- 6:51And those people, they really do make their money off like
- 6:54residuals. Conventions.
- 6:56Yeah, things like that. It's not like they're getting
- 6:59paid millions for going and doing these movies.
- 7:01Yeah, so that's that's the exception.
- 7:04Is the millionaires based off of movies not the norm, you know?
- 7:07Yeah, OK. Yeah, support them.
- 7:11And we're not really doing anybody favors by talking about
- 7:15this movie, because, I mean, this movie came out in 2006 and
- 7:20people still don't know about it.
- 7:22So maybe we are doing favors then.
- 7:24There are at least two people on Twitter that were reminded
- 7:26exist. I suppose that's true.
- 7:28Well, we'll remind some more people today, I suppose, if you
- 7:31guys didn't know. So you know what, if you're
- 7:34ready, actually, hold on, I gotta get the poll results
- 7:37first. So we talked about wrong turn
- 7:40three last week and we just wanted to know, are you a Hooten
- 7:43type? Are you the hollering type?
- 7:45So on Instagram, 60% of you guys are hooten and 40% are
- 7:49hollering. Meanwhile, over on Twitter, 14%
- 7:52are hooting and 86% are hollering.
- 7:55That sounds about right. I think the hollering definitely
- 7:58does trend more towards Twitter than Instagram, but I'm a
- 8:04holler, holler type of dude. I think it for me it depends on
- 8:07the context. I suppose.
- 8:09Like generally I would say more of a hollerer, but like say it
- 8:14shows. I.
- 8:15Hoot. I hoot everybody who says show.
- 8:17Yeah, everybody showed who this shows.
- 8:19Yeah, but I think I'm one of those people like she hoot and
- 8:22yeah, yeah, so. Both.
- 8:25Both is an answer too, by the way, so nothing wrong with that.
- 8:29All right? Now let's finally talk about the
- 8:32movie for this week. Are you ready?
- 8:35Yes, this was our Patreon voted episode.
- 8:37That's correct. And it was actually a tie, which
- 8:40we broke with not one, not two, but three.
- 8:44Rounds of rock, paper scissors. What was the other movie?
- 8:47Paranormal Activity 3. That's right.
- 8:50Well, you guys could have listened to us talk about Mika
- 8:52again. Even though he's not in the
- 8:54third one, we'll still talk. About it.
- 8:56I mean, we'll get there eventually.
- 8:57Come on, man, it's Paranormal Activity.
- 9:00Like, I don't know. I like talking about those.
- 9:02That's a good movie too. The third one.
- 9:04Yeah, it is, Yeah. Well, we're talking about this
- 9:06one today, Okay, So I'll always know what you did last summer.
- 9:12This released August 22nd, 2006 and we watched it on our DVD
- 9:18because this is a straight to DVD movie Yet again.
- 9:22I'm starting to realize that we're also kind of doing
- 9:24straight to DVD month and like just kind of coincidentally with
- 9:29all of these three equals that we're doing because yeah, yeah,
- 9:32yeah, it's OK. It's fun.
- 9:34Like, I I like tapping into that market because you don't get
- 9:38high quality stuff, but sometimes you find little gems.
- 9:41Maybe this is a gym, I don't know.
- 9:44OK, so you can watch this as of July 17th.
- 9:50Streaming nowhere. OK, but you can rinse it on
- 9:53Amazon, Apple, YouTube, Voodoo, Redbox, all of those.
- 9:57So it is an option and you can buy the DVD 3 pack like we did.
- 10:01Same as wrong turn 3. If you buy the three pack, you
- 10:04also get I know what you did last summer and I still know
- 10:07what you did last. Summer.
- 10:08Yeah. So two very good movies, yes.
- 10:10Yeah. So and then definitely another
- 10:14movie. Okay.
- 10:16Come on, we gotta okay. I know this movie is not that
- 10:19bad. You've had all of the negative
- 10:21jabs. Let me get a joke in there.
- 10:23Okay. I'm switching to positive now.
- 10:26I'm going positive on this movie.
- 10:27I love this movie. This movie's so fucking good.
- 10:30Okay, This is my favorite writer, Michael Weiss.
- 10:35He wrote this. Her name actually sounds kind of
- 10:38familiar. He does have a movie that you
- 10:40like. I wrote some down here, so And
- 10:43this one that I don't like. And guess what?
- 10:45It's another three. What is it?
- 10:47Hostile Part 3. Yay.
- 10:50And that movie. Sucks.
- 10:52I love Hostile Part 3. God damn it's such a major step
- 10:56down from 1:00 and 2:00. So he wrote that.
- 11:00He also wrote Butterfly Effect two.
- 11:02Not seen that. Don't know why that movie needs
- 11:04a sequel. That one wrapped up perfectly
- 11:06with Ashton Kutcher. It wasn't completely in a loop.
- 11:10Yeah, right. Like you don't need.
- 11:12It wasn't necessary. Right.
- 11:14Well, we don't need a new season of Futurama because the 4th
- 11:17finale that they had was perfect.
- 11:19But. Every.
- 11:20Finale they've had is perfect. My mind went exactly there too.
- 11:24I don't know, maybe they'll drop the ball with this one.
- 11:25I would be too afraid to. Start future on the backup
- 11:29because like that ending was so perfect.
- 11:30Like, don't fuck this one up. Yeah, but they have come back
- 11:33from so many other good endings. The Devil's out hands are idol
- 11:37playthings. How many times can lightning
- 11:39strike? I mean, that's true.
- 11:41I mean, come on. All right, This movie was
- 11:45directed by Sylvian, White music by Justin Burnett, and special
- 11:49effects makeup by Brad Harden and Vance Hartwell.
- 11:54OK. So the cast we have.
- 11:57Brooke Nevin playing Amber David Patkin.
- 12:02I don't know how to say his name.
- 12:03I'm sorry. I'm trying my best.
- 12:05It's spelled PAETKAN Patkin. That's definitely one of those
- 12:12that you can assume that you're pronouncing it correctly and
- 12:15then you hear him say it and you're like, Oh well, I was
- 12:16wrong. Yeah.
- 12:17Oh, I'm I'm almost sure that I'm wrong with that.
- 12:20But he plays Colby. Petkin.
- 12:22Pekin. I'd go with Petkin all.
- 12:23Right. So David Pekin plays Colby
- 12:25maybe? I don't know.
- 12:27I mean, he does. You just might be fucking up
- 12:29higher. Yeah, that's true.
- 12:31Tori de Vito plays Zoe. Ben Easter plays Lance.
- 12:36Seth Packard as Roger Casey. Clyde as Deputy Hafner, who I
- 12:42mistakenly enrolled as Hefner the entire time until I saw it
- 12:46written out one time. I was like, scribbled like
- 12:48Hafner. Michael Flynn plays Sheriff
- 12:53Davis. And Don Shanks plays the
- 12:56fisherman. Does that name sound familiar to
- 12:59you? It does.
- 13:00He is a sun coordinator, and he worked on one of our favorite
- 13:04movies that may be controversial with a lot of other people.
- 13:08One of the best Halloween movies in the franchise, he was Michael
- 13:12Myers. In Halloween Five, he is
- 13:15responsible for the goddamn giant, enormous neck.
- 13:18Yay. That's right, Don Shanks, baby.
- 13:20I mean, he's not responsible for the neck.
- 13:22Like I saw him in the special. Making of features, by the way,
- 13:26that whole making of that they have on this so terrible it
- 13:32doesn't tell you anything. What is it?
- 13:34It's 30 minutes and. Does that have the same kind of
- 13:38like shaky camera shots that is throughout all the rest of the
- 13:42movie? No, no, it doesn't.
- 13:43In fact, actually I was reading like an interview from the
- 13:46director and he was like super proud of that stuff because he's
- 13:48like. You know, the material's kind of
- 13:50the same, but I like to approach these as like an editing type of
- 13:53thing. Like, I'm gonna bring, like,
- 13:54interesting edits to this. And really, it's just like the
- 13:58it's kind of like the saw thing that was going on at the time,
- 14:00where things feel like really flashy and jumpy.
- 14:03Yeah, yeah, he didn't really, I don't know, you know, I mean,
- 14:06that could just be like a preference thing.
- 14:09Aesthetically, I don't think it works well with this movie.
- 14:11It works well with Saw, at least, but.
- 14:15Where was it? Yeah, so the special features
- 14:18thing, the making of it looks like it was made in about 5
- 14:21minutes. And whatever loaded video
- 14:27editing software that came with a brand new computer.
- 14:30So they opened up and it's like making of I'll always know what
- 14:34you did last summer, but it's like stupid flames.
- 14:37Flames are not important to this movie at all.
- 14:39I don't know why they chose flames, but it's like fucking
- 14:41hot rod flames. Listen, he's just making an
- 14:43editing choice. That's how he's approaching.
- 14:45Yeah, I guess. I don't know.
- 14:46I don't think he's responsible for this.
- 14:47I hope not. The guy we're speaking, we're
- 14:51speaking bad about him. He's still working today.
- 14:53He gets consistent work. He's just like a TV guy.
- 14:56I haven't made a fucking movie, but you know what I have made in
- 14:58about 2006. Making up power, no PowerPoints
- 15:03with a bunch of animated text, including play.
- 15:06It seriously looks like it's made in PowerPoint.
- 15:08I'm like, I kind of want to show you it has its own IMDb page.
- 15:12Everybody like just look it up. It has maybe 10 ratings and it's
- 15:15like got a four-star, like, you know, it's you know is.
- 15:19The rating for the making of higher or lower than the rating
- 15:22for the movie. Higher, yeah.
- 15:29And it, I mean, it just doesn't tell you anything.
- 15:31It's just like shots of the set and people talking, and it's
- 15:34just not very informative at all.
- 15:36I got zero information from it. All right?
- 15:40So that brings us to our game, Jesse, our favorite little game.
- 15:43Budget or. Budget.
- 15:46So what do? You what do you guys, I would
- 15:48say. It's probably up there really
- 15:51close with the new Indiana Jones movie.
- 15:54So like $350 million? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:58I don't know, maybe maybe they were too embarrassed to release
- 16:01the numbers because I don't have any numbers for this one.
- 16:03No. Yeah, I don't have any sales, no
- 16:06sales figures or anything. The only numbers I do have are
- 16:09the IMDb scores. OK, And the IMDb score on this
- 16:14is 3.4. Oh my God, I was gonna guess
- 16:163.3. Yeah, it is.
- 16:18This might actually be the lowest rated movie that we've
- 16:22talked about on this show. I can't think of another one
- 16:26that would be that well. I'll have to consult my
- 16:29spreadsheet. From like actual IMDb.
- 16:33No. I'm talking about like other
- 16:35people. Like the IMDb ratings on there.
- 16:37Yeah. Like, I'm sure we've rated
- 16:38things more than that. But like, I don't think we've
- 16:40had one that way before. But I picked 3 movies, Okay, and
- 16:45these are all third entries and franchises.
- 16:48Nice. Yeah, I know how that worked
- 16:49out. That's.
- 16:50Crazy how it lined out. So the first movie is Final
- 16:53Destination 3? That's a solid one.
- 16:56Yeah. And I think it's kind of
- 16:57interesting too, because a lot of the times I was watching
- 17:00this, I kind of felt like I was watching what should have been a
- 17:03final destination with the way that it looked and the way that
- 17:06it was edited and the way that it had.
- 17:08David Petco, cuz he's the guy in Final Destination 2.
- 17:14That's like Lucky And won the lottery.
- 17:16That's him. That's him.
- 17:18Yeah. So Final Destination Three came
- 17:21out February 10th, 2006 with a budget of $25 million, worldwide
- 17:27gross of $118,000,000. Yeah, and an IMDb score of 5.8.
- 17:32I think that that's one of the strongest in the series.
- 17:35I love that movie. It's so good.
- 17:37That is one of those franchises that I just can't think of a
- 17:39weekend tree. I mean, it's not.
- 17:42But like, even then, I think it rises to the top out of them
- 17:45all. I think some people don't like
- 17:47it as much, but we we have one of those DVD's where you can
- 17:51choose. It shapes the way that the movie
- 17:53plays out. Like some people can survive.
- 17:55Yeah, in fact, you can, like choose.
- 17:57You can make a choice at the beginning of the movie that
- 18:00prevents the rest of the movie from ever happening.
- 18:01And you get like little snippets of like, what everybody went on
- 18:04to do with their lives. Yeah, it's really cool.
- 18:06You can make it so Frankie Cheeks lives.
- 18:09Yeah, that's a choice. Yeah, which is weird because I
- 18:12don't know it creates a lot of plot holes, but but it is what
- 18:17it is. The part of me that grew up
- 18:19reading the Goosebumps Readers Beware You choose your own
- 18:22scare. Yeah, books I love.
- 18:27That I know. I love it too.
- 18:28It's. Cool.
- 18:28I love that I can now get it in movie form.
- 18:30It's like I regressed cuz like I was reading when I was younger.
- 18:34And now I have to have my Choose Your Own adventure in movie
- 18:37form. Look you actually this is making
- 18:39me realize something. So this came out in 2006 which
- 18:42is as we all know on this podcast was the day the.
- 18:46Munas. Era The Golden Age of the Munas
- 18:50era, because that's the year that Stay Alive came out.
- 18:53And I was like texting Eric and Joe the other day and he was
- 18:57asking me something about Stay Alive because he like, he's
- 18:59like, you guys are the resident, like Stay Alive fans.
- 19:02So I needed to ask you something.
- 19:03I forgot what the question was, but he was, I didn't have an
- 19:06answer for him. But I was like, you need to get
- 19:07the DVD because the DVD lets you create a character and you can
- 19:12like, unlock. Something you can unlock.
- 19:14It yeah, you unlock something if you make the right character
- 19:17combinations. I'm sorry.
- 19:18If you guys, if you guys wanna hear us, we did.
- 19:20Finally. Get the golden ticket.
- 19:24Aka we found an unrated version of Stay Alive.
- 19:28We now officially own that. Not to plug our Patreon early,
- 19:32but I'm gonna go ahead and plug it.
- 19:33Yeah, if you if you join the budget tier of our Patreon, you
- 19:40can even just do it for a month and download all of our bonus
- 19:42episodes and then fuck off if you want.
- 19:43That's true. Yeah.
- 19:45But yeah, that's that's one of our bonus episodes that we did
- 19:47was we? Talked about the difference.
- 19:49Yeah, we did a cut comparison, but it essentially became like
- 19:52another rehashing. Of the movie, Yeah, it was so
- 19:54different. Yeah, it really it when you get
- 19:57the unrated version, it's kind of good, that's.
- 19:59Where I was telling Joe I was like, you need, like you need to
- 20:01watch the unrated version because that opens up a whole.
- 20:05Well, the only reason I started talking about this, I'm sorry,
- 20:07we've like, no in so many different ways.
- 20:09We're gonna make our own fun this week.
- 20:11We are, yeah. But like, this era, this time,
- 20:14right here was when. DVD menus were at their best.
- 20:17We've lost all that now. And like DVD is in general,
- 20:21because you could just do the Choose Your Own Adventure and
- 20:23follow Destination Three or create a character with Frankie
- 20:25Muniz, you know. Yeah, Speaking of the Muniz era,
- 20:31Travis has decided that he thinks he wants to watch through
- 20:36Malcolm in the Middle because he never watched it.
- 20:38I I plan on doing that. Yeah, so that's that's an
- 20:41adventure we're going to be going.
- 20:42To just in our. Personal lives.
- 20:44All right. So we've we kind of basically
- 20:45got 4 movies this week because we talked extensively if you
- 20:48stay alive there. So the third movie is Saw Three.
- 20:55Which came out October 22nd. Was the 2nd movie Stay Alive?
- 20:58No, the second movie saw three. I'm making it the 2nd.
- 21:02Movie okay, I see what you're doing.
- 21:03Yeah, I get it cuz we're basically doing 4 movies this
- 21:05week. So Saw Three is the third movie.
- 21:08It came out October 27th, 2006. Slow ass motherfucking Turner.
- 21:12Right at the thresh. Or right at the thresh.
- 21:16Thresh, The Threshold, The Line of Budget, and Buck, Ted.
- 21:19Its budget was $10 million. Yeah, and it had a worldwide
- 21:23gross of 164,000,000 and an IMDb score of 6.2.
- 21:28People like that, Saw movie. I like that Saw movie.
- 21:31Guess what, guys? Do we wanna do We wanna say it
- 21:34now? Yeah, let's go ahead and put a
- 21:35little teaser around next. So we're wrapping up our screen
- 21:38coverage this month and we're gonna be diving into Saw next.
- 21:42That's our next. Franchise will be Saw, so we
- 21:45will be talking about this movie in four months.
- 21:49Yes, yeah, right. Three months from now.
- 21:52So that'll be your little wait. August.
- 21:55September, October. That'll be October.
- 21:59Yeah, all right. If Halloween, it must be saw.
- 22:02That's right. So that works out perfectly for
- 22:04us. And the 4th movie is one that
- 22:09neither of us have watched. I don't think you've watched
- 22:12this. But it's Pumpkinhead ashes to
- 22:15ashes. No, I haven't seen that one.
- 22:17Yeah, yeah, so this is the third Pumpkinhead entry.
- 22:19I've only seen the first Pumpkinhead.
- 22:21This one has Lance Hendrickson returning as Ed Harley As
- 22:26Pumpkinhead. OK, like he gets brought back as
- 22:29Pumpkinhead, but it's yeah, so that sounds cool.
- 22:32I would watch it. Is Brian Bramer in that one?
- 22:35I don't know. We'll have to ask him when we
- 22:37see him later this year, yeah. He's gonna there just get.
- 22:39Her fixed, Yeah. That came out October 28th,
- 22:422006. This is a scifi movie by the
- 22:44way, so budget of $6,000,000 worldwide gross of nothing
- 22:49because it went on scifi bitches and IMDb of 4.3.
- 22:54OK, so our taglines, we have two of them.
- 22:56Not a single tagline on the poster.
- 22:59OK, but the first one is what he knows might kill you.
- 23:04That sucks. Well, I hope you're thrilled
- 23:07with the second one because it's get hooked.
- 23:11I kinda like that one. You like that one?
- 23:12Get hooked. OK, I feel like that one works
- 23:17if it's a movie that doesn't take itself as seriously.
- 23:21But this one, I think it does continue the serious tone of the
- 23:25series. It doesn't go into the
- 23:26intentional camp. I'm sorry, are you saying that
- 23:30this movie, that this franchise is always super serious?
- 23:35I mean, it plays everything very straight.
- 23:38Except for Jack Black. And even then, that's by Jack
- 23:41Black standards, that's a tame Jack Black.
- 23:43What's his character supposed to be?
- 23:45I know we talked about this when we talked about I still know.
- 23:49But what's his character meant to be there?
- 23:51Or did he just wander around the set?
- 23:53And I. Can I be part of?
- 23:54This I think he works as like he's like the pool board is
- 23:58something cuz like he lives in the pool shed or maybe he just
- 24:04made his home there and nobody ever.
- 24:06Wanted to. Talk.
- 24:07No, I'm saying Jack Black. Jack Black himself.
- 24:11You know, that's a good question.
- 24:12It could be one of those people that's just surprisingly a
- 24:15horror fan. I'm like consistently surprised
- 24:18by some of these people like Danny McBride and.
- 24:23Jay Bear Show. I for one, this is the I'm very
- 24:26excited for us to finally watch the Mario movie when it comes to
- 24:30streaming next month. Yeah, since I've heard that Jack
- 24:33Black wrote Peaches theme song and I've heard that Peaches
- 24:35theme song slaps. Well, Miss Jack Black, It's
- 24:38gonna slap. Yeah, he just slaps.
- 24:41OK, so fun facts. So the third entry in the I Know
- 24:47What You Did Last Summer series was announced back in 2000.
- 24:51Just to remind everybody. The first one came out in 96,
- 24:55the second one in 97 or it might be 97 and 98, I can't remember.
- 25:009798 because the. Screen was 96, and then Kevin
- 25:04Williamson did this, so yeah. Yeah, Kevin Williamson became a
- 25:07very little busy boy. Yeah, after 96.
- 25:12I guess he was still too good for the I know what you did last
- 25:14summer movies, huh? Because he didn't come back for
- 25:17this one. But this one came so it was
- 25:20announced in 2000. And it just kind of sat there
- 25:24and nothing ever happened. It had a script that was
- 25:28written. Jennifer Love Hewitt was gonna
- 25:30return. Freddie Prinze Jr. was gonna
- 25:32return. Brandy Norwood was gonna return.
- 25:35We could have gotten more Brandy.
- 25:37We could have, but for some reason the script just sat there
- 25:41and it just went to waste. So.
- 25:45By the time that they went in, did a new one, they had to just
- 25:49rewrite everything with a whole new cast of characters because
- 25:52they just, I guess, decided to go in a new direction with it.
- 25:55I think they readjusted their expectations because I think
- 25:58then they're like, OK, this is not going to go to theaters.
- 26:02That's my take on that. At least the director for the
- 26:06Sylvian White, he was brought in as a last minute replacement of
- 26:09it because they had somebody that was working on the movie
- 26:12but got fired two weeks before. Filming was to start.
- 26:16Why'd he get fired? I don't know, but I do have his
- 26:18name. It is Damon Sano, Santo Stefano.
- 26:24Damon Santo, Stefano. I've looked, I looked him up and
- 26:28he's. I don't think he's really got
- 26:30anything noteworthy to us. But you're pulling it up now, so
- 26:34you might find something that speaks to other people at least.
- 26:38Or maybe you too, I don't know, HM.
- 26:43No, he did one of the Cinderella story movies with Lucy Hale.
- 26:48And we all know I Love Lucy Hale.
- 26:51Do we know that? Have we talked about that?
- 26:52Yeah, we. Done a couple Cinderella story
- 26:56movies. He did bring it on again.
- 27:00Is that the 2nd? I'm not sure if it's the 2nd or
- 27:04the 3rd. OK, so like a couple things.
- 27:07Something called revenge Ooh that has a 7.6.
- 27:11OK. Within that two weeks, he
- 27:14completely recast the characters.
- 27:17He redid the whole shooting schedule.
- 27:20He reworked the shooting locations.
- 27:23He did all of this shit two weeks before filming this movie,
- 27:28which I know a lot of people probably having a light bulb
- 27:30come on in their head or just something snapping like Ohh, so
- 27:33does that. So that's why this movie looks
- 27:35like it was made in two weeks. I think it was filmed.
- 27:39I don't know that filming. Like time frame for this how
- 27:42long or when they filmed it. But yeah, they rushed it to
- 27:46production. I don't know why he went and did
- 27:48all that though, because like if you already have everybody cast
- 27:52and everything arranged, just fucking foil with it.
- 27:54Dude, Can you imagine the director being fired and then
- 27:56all of a sudden you lose your job too?
- 27:58Not because they cancelled the movie, but because the new guy
- 28:00was like. Nah, because the new guy just,
- 28:03like, fired everybody. His dominance.
- 28:06Yeah, that's like when we worked at.
- 28:10And they hired a manager and she just brought in all her own
- 28:13people and she pushed out the old people.
- 28:15She. Fucking sucked.
- 28:16Yeah, maybe this guy sucks too. I don't know.
- 28:18He seemed OK. Everybody spoke highly of him in
- 28:21the making of thing. At least that's one thing I got.
- 28:23Yeah, I don't want to go out here.
- 28:25See director suck if we don't know them.
- 28:27Yeah, he seemed OK. He seemed kind of cool.
- 28:30I mean, he's still working today.
- 28:31He does shit. So.
- 28:35OK. Yeah, not shit.
- 28:36But like he, you know, he does shit.
- 28:38He does. Yeah, Yeah.
- 28:39Not shit, but shit. Yeah, exactly.
- 28:41And OK. And he wanted to go more.
- 28:45He wanted the gore to feel more real in this movie.
- 28:47So he went fully practical with everything, which I don't know
- 28:50if that was the thing that wasn't done in the previous two
- 28:53movies, but I will say that the gore is pretty decent in this
- 28:56and the Killers are actually pretty solid.
- 28:59Yeah. I think it's fine.
- 29:01I think it does a pretty good job, but it's definitely
- 29:03gorrier, I would say. Yeah, it's definitely not the
- 29:05gorriest thing we've ever seen, but these movies aren't
- 29:08typically gory anyway. No, not really.
- 29:11And yeah, that's all I have. There's not a lot of information
- 29:13out there about this movie. I did deep dives.
- 29:15I looked up this really weird interview from a website that
- 29:19looks like it was designed in 1997, so before the movie even
- 29:22came out, somebody was talking about it.
- 29:25But yeah, that's all I got. So, all right, Jesse, let's talk
- 29:29about. How we feel about it.
- 29:32Let's go. Let's get it all out there so
- 29:35you eat it off. What do you actually like about
- 29:38this? I do like that the beginning
- 29:48like the beginning. Some implausibility is aside.
- 29:52I think is kind of a solid opening.
- 29:59I think the performances are mostly good and I like the
- 30:02effects. There's all the performances are
- 30:05OK. And some of the set pieces are
- 30:07pretty interesting. Yeah, like a mostly abandoned
- 30:10ski lift. That is cool.
- 30:12That was cool. Small town, always gonna be a
- 30:16scary setting, yeah. Colorado.
- 30:19Terrifying. Terrifying.
- 30:20I've got asthma. I can't be that high above sea
- 30:22level. Yeah, that's it.
- 30:24I think those are, those are my positives.
- 30:28All right. Well.
- 30:29Yeah, I agree. I like the I like the kilts in
- 30:31this. I think it's pretty cool.
- 30:33I like that they if they're doing something new, you know, I
- 30:38I don't have to have this tied to the original cast.
- 30:40But like I think it makes more sense with that.
- 30:44But like in this movie, it's become a legend on its own, even
- 30:48though it was already a legend in the first movie.
- 30:51Yeah, but like I like the idea of it just being the fisherman.
- 30:54You don't know who he is. He's just like this random.
- 30:57Like the serious man that will come get you if you have a
- 30:59secret. Why did they move this so far in
- 31:02months? I know, right?
- 31:03Like it's supposed to be about like a fishing town in whatever
- 31:06state. And then it's like, yeah, let's
- 31:09put them over there with like, the mountains.
- 31:11I would love it if he wasn't actually dressed as a fisherman,
- 31:14because none of them knows what you.
- 31:16Actually, yeah, nobody ever saw you for questions like where the
- 31:18fuck is there a fisherman running around here in Colorado?
- 31:21Like do you need a full on slicker?
- 31:25So I like that. I kind of.
- 31:28So by the way, did we mention that this movie goes
- 31:30supernatural? Because this movie goes
- 31:32supernatural. But I kind of like it.
- 31:34I like the idea of it. Like Like if it is about the
- 31:37legend, I like it actually being a legend that will like come and
- 31:41like kill you. I think that that is a creepy
- 31:44concept. Always everybody, you know, just
- 31:46like from growing up, you always heard those stories, like this
- 31:48thing that happens. But like, I think that this one
- 31:51is really weird because it's. It's like if you have a secret,
- 31:55but like all of these movies take place like around July 4th.
- 31:58So it's almost feeling like if you have a secret and it's July
- 32:014th, this fisherman will come and get you with a hook.
- 32:08Now saying it all out like that, out loud in front of everybody
- 32:11made me realize how stupid it sounds, but I kind of like it.
- 32:15So here's my thing. That's my bad.
- 32:18That's your bad. The what?
- 32:20The supernatural or the Yeah, OK.
- 32:24I don't necessarily hate like the anti Santa because you know
- 32:30it's summer and it's specifically going.
- 32:32After not the anti Santa, Is that what you're calling the
- 32:34fishermen? Yeah.
- 32:36OK. But like, I just don't.
- 32:40I don't know. These movies have always been
- 32:44not supernatural, and I respect that they were trying to do
- 32:48something. It's not easy coming into an
- 32:50existing franchise. Like and hold on, let me say my
- 32:54piece. OK, OK.
- 32:56And like, I get that they were trying to do something
- 32:58different. I respect that.
- 33:00However, I like these movies being revenge stories.
- 33:04I there's something very human about it.
- 33:06That's what I like about these. I like the human response to,
- 33:09like, knowing that you've done something terrible and just
- 33:12waiting for the other shoe to drop.
- 33:13And I kind of like the bad guy, like.
- 33:16Having a motive of revenge, you know what I mean?
- 33:19And when we got to the reveal and it actually was a ghost, I
- 33:25kept waiting for how they were gonna make it.
- 33:27Not a ghost. And the movie was over, and I
- 33:30was like, oh, it really was just a ghost.
- 33:32Did you? You forgot all about that this
- 33:33time, right? Yeah, OK.
- 33:36So, like, I just, I didn't. That's not what I come to this
- 33:41franchise for, you know what I mean?
- 33:43I I'm not inherently opposed. To a ghost legend attacking
- 33:49people, it just felt very like out of left field.
- 33:56So yeah, so I think. Also, I hate the I hate the
- 34:01shots that they do with the like.
- 34:04Yeah, the quick cuts and things like, yeah.
- 34:07They don't add to the mood for me as an audience.
- 34:11No, I I'm actually, I don't like it because it's kind of
- 34:14disorienting. And whenever I'm watching
- 34:16something I like to see like a queen cut, like see everything
- 34:19play out. I don't like when things are cut
- 34:21to hell to try and make it flow in a way like see.
- 34:24Here's my thing. I don't mind it when it is meant
- 34:27to be disorienting because the character's feeling disoriented.
- 34:32Say, for example, the song movies.
- 34:34Yeah, you know, we get those cuts.
- 34:37What happens with this is like, it's like town fair fairs.
- 34:42Like, why do I need to be disoriented about this?
- 34:44You know what I mean? It's just like, I think it can
- 34:47be well done. I just think it wasn't utilized
- 34:49appropriately in this movie. That's true.
- 34:51It's. Like, damn.
- 34:53Like, OK, fairs little. Yeah, yeah, sorry.
- 34:56Band practice looks like a little shack apart.
- 34:59Like, OK, what's happening? I don't know.
- 35:02What I. Was going to say before, though
- 35:04was. Like, how do you tie that
- 35:07original movie to a new set of people without it being another
- 35:13thing? Like the screen remake that we
- 35:15got where it's just a family member, you know what I mean?
- 35:20I like the idea of it being a legend come to life.
- 35:23Like you can do this. Like they start off the whole
- 35:26movie talking about this supposed legend, which I can't
- 35:30wait to talk about that. You know, and then that's the
- 35:34reason that PJ dies. But like, which we never found
- 35:40out who moved the fucking mattresses?
- 35:42Yeah, that's true. We never get resolution on that
- 35:45Jesus Christ. But what I'm saying is like you,
- 35:51you know, this is supposedly this legend is the reason that
- 35:55you know this death, this tragedy has occurred.
- 35:59So somebody decides that they're gonna get revenge, using the
- 36:02legend as like, OK, you know, a bit of poetic justice or
- 36:06whatever. True.
- 36:08That can be done. You're right, that would that
- 36:10would make sense. OK, well, my bad is I think a
- 36:15lot of the characters in this movie are pretty still.
- 36:18I don't really think anybody stands out.
- 36:20I don't have a favorite character in this movie.
- 36:23Like they're all just kind of generic.
- 36:26Just, I don't know, like, I think, I guess if I were to pick
- 36:29one, I would just pick the Fishermen because I think all
- 36:33things considered, Don Shinks does a good job playing the
- 36:35Fishermen and it's like it's like an updated slicker too.
- 36:39It looks a little bit different and I guess it's because it's
- 36:41somebody that like, well, it's a ghost, but like somebody away
- 36:44from the fish that's trying to do the fish thing properly.
- 36:49See, and here's the thing. If they could have brought
- 36:51Freddie Prinze junior back, we've got somebody acting like
- 36:54ghost in the Fisherman's Slicker.
- 36:56He's been Fred Jones now, so he can be like a good, good, good,
- 37:00good ghost. Yeah, I'm gonna give Matthew a
- 37:03little too. Sarah.
- 37:04Michelle Gellar. She could be the Daphne again.
- 37:08You. Know.
- 37:08Yeah, Except she, like as a different character, died in the
- 37:12first. I know what you did last summer.
- 37:14If there was a picture of her, remember.
- 37:16Yeah, yeah, yeah. Bring a picture for his Daphne
- 37:19like Fred. Just like looks down like
- 37:21Daphne. You mean the picture of her in
- 37:23the parade the night she died? That for some reason Julie
- 37:27decides to keep framed next to her?
- 37:29Bed. Take that picture and Photoshop
- 37:31the hair red. Just do that.
- 37:34Nobody will be able to tell the difference.
- 37:36Daphne surely was like fish queen.
- 37:39You know what I mean? All right.
- 37:44Ugly. Deputy Hafner.
- 37:50Yeah, Deputy Hafner, he's like hitting on this girl that is in
- 37:54high school, but also like just like fresh out of high school.
- 37:57It's it's still just gross. I was like a fully grown man.
- 38:00Every note I wrote about him ended with the word ominously.
- 38:05Like he checks on her ominously, He comforts her ominously.
- 38:11I you know it's. True, he welcomes children to
- 38:14the. Party ominously.
- 38:16He welcomes them in ominously. He's like, sure, I'm having to
- 38:22get together like, whoa, shit. Like, I mean, the dude plays it
- 38:28really well. Yeah, he's fine as an actor, but
- 38:30like. Well, like back when.
- 38:31It's so uncomfortable. When I was riding him as
- 38:34Heffner, I was like, is this like intensive?
- 38:36Like, and he was like, oh shit, never mind.
- 38:39Well, maybe they still meant that.
- 38:40Like he's like kind of close to it.
- 38:43Yeah, I agree with you. That's my ugly too.
- 38:45All right, absurd. Where do we start?
- 38:49I've got my favorite absurd moment, which is so fucking
- 38:52awesome. I love it.
- 38:54There could be a lot, but I guess the one I'm gonna pick for
- 38:57right now is gonna be where the fuck does Zoe live?
- 39:01Does she live in that barn where her band practices?
- 39:03And also there's sometimes parties, because when what's her
- 39:07face comes to like? Check on her.
- 39:12Check. Well, not even check on her.
- 39:14Ask for comfort from her friend that she ditched months ago.
- 39:16Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And she's like, can I stay with
- 39:19you? And you?
- 39:19She's like, yeah, sure. There's a couch here and a
- 39:21bathroom in the back, and it's like, Zoe, Do you live here?
- 39:23Do you live in this barn? She's.
- 39:25Going full Jason hearts you because like.
- 39:28And to be clear, it's not like a barn that's been converted for
- 39:34living. It's got no floor.
- 39:39It's Earth. It is ground.
- 39:41Jesus was born here. Yeah, Jesus may have been born
- 39:45in a nicer barn. In Colorado.
- 39:51How was there running water in the bath?
- 39:53I have so many questions about this setup.
- 39:55They do have electricity. Which is weird because there's
- 39:58also gaps between the boards where you can see straight into
- 40:02the barn. Yeah.
- 40:03How the fuck does that work? I don't know.
- 40:04Generator. I don't fucking know.
- 40:06I don't know. It's weird.
- 40:08OK? You're right.
- 40:08That is absurd. All right.
- 40:10Man, how's she paying for all of that?
- 40:12Does she have parents? It doesn't seem like she has
- 40:14parents. I don't think any of these
- 40:15people have parents. No.
- 40:17What's her face? The blonde girl.
- 40:18She definitely has parents, but they're out of town.
- 40:21I know. But are they?
- 40:23Are they? She's just telling everybody,
- 40:25Yeah, they're Amber. Your parents have been out of
- 40:28town for 18 years. They'll be back soon.
- 40:32They just wanted to go get cigarettes.
- 40:35My absurd moment is in the opening when PJ goes up to the
- 40:41top and he battles the fishermen with the skateboard.
- 40:44But the best part about that whole thing is the dude is like,
- 40:48yeah, one and he gets on the skateboard and rides away.
- 40:52But not only that, he fucking does a trick off of the side of
- 40:56the building. Like he's like it's like the
- 40:57Tony Hawk special sounding like he's just like doing a trick as
- 41:02he's falling to his death. That, but it it's more akin to.
- 41:09What's the fucking game that I love watching them?
- 41:12Do you play throughs of and Game Grumps or they're like either on
- 41:15the bikes or the jet powered lawn chair?
- 41:18What is that called? My God, what is that called?
- 41:23I don't know. Holy shit.
- 41:25Keep talking. I'm.
- 41:25Gonna but yeah, I like that when they would go to like the modded
- 41:28levels and like they couldn't get past, that's kind of it's
- 41:32that energy like were you ever gonna make this out on the first
- 41:36try? Guts and glory.
- 41:39Guts and glory. Yeah, feels much more guts and
- 41:42glory than Tony Hawk. Cuz then Tony Hawk.
- 41:44You just goes like gnarly wipeout.
- 41:48No. Yeah, 100%.
- 41:49I think that's like a good combination right there.
- 41:51And if you don't know what that game is, look up the Game Grumps
- 41:55play through, cuz it's fucking hilarious.
- 41:57Miss Jenkins. I kinda wanna watch it now.
- 42:00He had the guy with the Rockets share.
- 42:02Yeah. Miss Jenkins, just come in to
- 42:07borrow some sugar. OK?
- 42:12So yeah. He just fucking jumps to his
- 42:14death. He doesn't even check to see if
- 42:16the mattress is there, by the way.
- 42:17He just fully trusts that he's accurate with where he's
- 42:20jumping. Who moved the mattresses?
- 42:24Who put a tractor there instead? That's what PJ is wanting to
- 42:28know, and it's too late. All right, So, Jesse, what do
- 42:32you rate this out of town? 3 1/2.
- 42:35Wow, so you're almost going with the IMDb score.
- 42:37Fuck this. We haven't even talked about it
- 42:40and I'm already so angry. I love it.
- 42:44These are the types of movies that are just fun to talk about
- 42:46because they're so absurd. So I think I'm gonna go, I'm
- 42:51gonna be generous because I don't really think that this
- 42:53movie is that bad. Honestly, I think it's
- 42:57serviceable as a straight to DVD slasher.
- 43:00Maybe don't think of it as a I know what you Did Last summer
- 43:02movie, but it's. So separate it from it I would,
- 43:05but they make a point of trying it into the first two.
- 43:10It's basically a remake, almost just retelling it as like a
- 43:13myth, like a legend that comes to life.
- 43:15But I'm gonna give it like a four.
- 43:17I'll give it a four. I think that, yeah, at least
- 43:20earns that. 3.75 of our is our starting.
- 43:23At Yeah, that's low, dude. It is low I.
- 43:26Don't know if we've done one that one before.
- 43:28Alright. I do want everybody to know that
- 43:31the DVD has one trailer on it. Yeah, and it's for a movie
- 43:36called Population 436. Who is it starring?
- 43:39It's the guy from Wrong Turn. I can't remember his name.
- 43:42Yeah, yeah, He's got the deep voice.
- 43:44It's Jeremy something. That sounds right.
- 43:46He looks like a Jeremy. It's either Jeremy or he's
- 43:49played a character named Jeremy. Or both, yeah.
- 43:53So that the only one trailer. So be sure.
- 43:56Maybe we've never heard of you're.
- 43:57Getting the full DVD experience with us here guys, cuz we know
- 44:00you're not gonna buy it, all right?
- 44:03So we opened this thing off with some carnival fun time montages.
- 44:081st we have an empty trailer of stock footage.
- 44:11OK, that's true. Then we've got fair stock
- 44:13footage. That's right.
- 44:15And then so we cut to fourteens on a Ferris wheel.
- 44:21And they're telling the legend of the fisherman, and the
- 44:25fisherman is this guy who kills teens with secrets every July
- 44:314th. Now spoiler for the next 5
- 44:34minutes they're going to do a prank where they pretend the
- 44:37fisherman's after them, but they're all in on it.
- 44:42So who are they telling this legend for?
- 44:46You know what? Holy shit, you're right.
- 44:49They're not even doing it in like a public place where people
- 44:51can overhear it. They're on like literally a
- 44:54Ferris wheel. Isn't it Amber that's telling
- 44:57it? Amber and Colby.
- 44:59Yeah, like, yeah, we fucking know guys.
- 45:01Like, stop telling us the story. We've all heard it like 50
- 45:04goddamn times. Now we're doing the fucking
- 45:06prank. Like, I get that it's for the
- 45:09audience's benefit, so that way we're gooped when we learn that
- 45:12they're all like in on it. But that quickly falls apart
- 45:18once you think about it for a second.
- 45:22I never thought about it and you're so right.
- 45:24It's just what if they're just like telling it to like people
- 45:28on like the like like above them or below them like so by the
- 45:32way, the fishermen will come and get you if you have a secret on
- 45:35July 4th. So lookout.
- 45:38Watch out. Watch out for that, Fisher.
- 45:40My God, I think I see him over there.
- 45:41And I heard he's like, this is Colorado.
- 45:43Nobody's fishing. We hike here, let's get high.
- 45:49So they're wandering around the carnival and they come across
- 45:55Lance, who is working at the carnival, I think.
- 46:01Is he? Hard to tell.
- 46:02I don't know. I.
- 46:03Think he is? I think he is too and.
- 46:05He. Found this was the area that
- 46:08that era where hipsters were wearing clothing that could be
- 46:11very easily confused for like carnival worker clothing.
- 46:15Like he's got like a mechanic type shirt.
- 46:17On Yeah, he does. Yeah, he's, he's got the look
- 46:20for sure. He's Pj's cousin and the
- 46:22sheriff's nephew. PJ is a sheriff's son.
- 46:25Yeah, and PJ is more the group's friend group.
- 46:29I don't think these guys are actually friends with Lance.
- 46:31Yeah, like, he's just like their friend's cousin.
- 46:33Yeah. But Lance is definitely in the
- 46:37amber and there's kind of like a pissing contest between him and
- 46:42Colby. Yeah, Colby is also a year older
- 46:46than her. He's getting ready to go to his
- 46:48freshman year in College in LA and she's got one more year
- 46:51before she can join him. She then takes out her camera
- 46:55cuz she's the group photographer because they kind of wanna make
- 46:59her a Manic Pixie Dream girl. Yeah, like a what's her face?
- 47:04And stay alive. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 47:07Who goes and takes pictures of people sat at funerals?
- 47:09I was also thinking of Final Destination 3, where they're
- 47:13taking pictures at a carnival. Yeah, she's not a photographer,
- 47:16though. She just works for the yearbook
- 47:18and they make that distinction very clear and I like it.
- 47:21OK, yeah, See, they knew how to do it.
- 47:23But like and you didn't know that notice this, but the way
- 47:27she holds her camera. I should have grabbed my camera
- 47:29to give you a proper demonstration.
- 47:31So imagine. This is the front of the camera.
- 47:33Yeah, OK, I know this is not working for anybody listening,
- 47:37but so she turn takes it, turns it on end, and then she does
- 47:41like a claw at the top in a way that is offering no support to
- 47:44the camera and in fact looks like she's never seen one
- 47:48before. The moment she was told that her
- 47:51character's main trait is that she's a photographer.
- 47:54She's like mini panic attack inside from the actors like, Oh
- 47:58my God, she's. Like how do I hold that camera?
- 48:02I didn't think about it ever. So yeah, no, I noticed that she
- 48:06does that later on in the movie too.
- 48:07Yeah, no, it started right here. No.
- 48:09Yeah, it's horrifying. You made it.
- 48:11You brought it to my attention. So I paid attention and she
- 48:13continues all. Right.
- 48:15So they're all sitting there. Ha ha ha.
- 48:17We're teens, we're friends. It's great.
- 48:19And then all of a sudden we see this in the wet of a hook and a
- 48:23fisherman's hat. And probably very expensive.
- 48:27Banner gets torn as somebody runs through and chases PJ and
- 48:31they're all screaming and the sheriff is like, oh shit,
- 48:33somebody's going to die at the town fair.
- 48:36And so they all go running and they run up the world's least
- 48:40assuming parking structure. Why is this parking structure
- 48:44here in the middle of a field? There are no buildings nearby.
- 48:47Why is the parking structure here?
- 48:49All good. You can't have a parking
- 48:51structure and a tractor in the same area.
- 48:56This is all good points, man. I don't know, Maybe this is
- 48:58weird Colorado shit. I don't know.
- 49:00You guys might be weird over there.
- 49:01Well, okay, So they get to the top of a building.
- 49:04Somehow PJ wound up on top of the building.
- 49:06I don't know how he got there. With this skateboard, Travis.
- 49:09He jumped all the way up there with the skateboard, yes, but
- 49:12the fisherman is also up there. So he fights off his hook.
- 49:16Do you think that Roger like like held onto PJ and they like
- 49:22rode up there together so that way they wouldn't lose track of
- 49:25each other I? Hope so.
- 49:27I hope that they actually rode over there together.
- 49:28That would be hilarious. But he fights him off with a
- 49:32skateboard, fights away his hook, and then he does a sweet
- 49:35trick off the side of the building because that's his
- 49:38escape plan. But he.
- 49:40Doesn't land on the mattresses like he was.
- 49:42And the friends just assumed that it went well.
- 49:44Yeah, they just like run over to the cars and get cleaned up and.
- 49:47He just lies off the top of the parking instruction like great.
- 49:51There's no way that could have ever gone wrong.
- 49:54I still don't understand why he didn't like, you know, maybe
- 49:57look down to make sure that there wasn't a fucking tractor
- 50:01there instead of a mattress. That's right, the the opening to
- 50:04this movie is just so fucking weird.
- 50:06Like who? Moves the mattresses.
- 50:09I need to know who moved them. Why did they replace them with a
- 50:13tractor? You think Michael Weiss has a
- 50:16Twitter account? Maybe we can ask him.
- 50:18He might answer you. I don't.
- 50:19Know I have so many questions. All right, so yeah, he's dead.
- 50:23And the teens are just shitting their pants because they're
- 50:27like, that wasn't supposed to happen or supposed to be a
- 50:29match. No, they aren't sad enough about
- 50:31their friend being dead. No, they're not.
- 50:32They're more worried about getting caught.
- 50:34Yeah, they are all sociopaths. Yeah, throwing it out there now.
- 50:38And of course Amber, because she's her final girl, she wants
- 50:41to tell. But everybody else is like,
- 50:43don't you tell, We'll cut you. It's so crazy.
- 50:45It's almost like shot for shot, what the original was.
- 50:49You got the blonde, overly aggressive dude and then you've
- 50:52got the good girl like Amber instead of Jennifer.
- 50:56Love you. It's character.
- 50:58It's weird. OK, July 1st.
- 51:01One year later, by the way, we're gonna be getting a
- 51:03countdown. To July 4th of this.
- 51:06Yep. So that was June.
- 51:10Damn. No.
- 51:10This is July 1st, One year later.
- 51:12Okay. Never mind, you're right.
- 51:16Okay. So Amber is at Pj's grave in the
- 51:19middle of the field. Around No other grapes.
- 51:22He's not in the cemetery, he's in a field.
- 51:24They buried him right there where the parking garage was
- 51:26and. They tore down the parking.
- 51:27Garage. And they're like, you know what?
- 51:28Terrace it and that's. Silly.
- 51:30You're right. We don't need this out here.
- 51:33The entire town population could fit their vehicles inside of
- 51:36that parking garage. Why do we have this?
- 51:38It's become a memorial. She takes some really bad
- 51:42photography and then she goes to a barn party.
- 51:47Lance flirts with her at the party and then her friends come
- 51:51over and they're like, come look at this hot guy and she's like,
- 51:55don't worry, I'll be with Colby in LA so you won't have to hold
- 51:58my hand anymore. And they're like, um, bitch,
- 52:01Colby's right over there. By the way, we.
- 52:05This girl that she's talking to, she, she is.
- 52:09So we'll go at the poster if you did actually watch this movie,
- 52:12because she is on, we think. That this?
- 52:13No, I have a picture. I have a picture.
- 52:15Try to remind me to post it. OK, we have a picture of the
- 52:20poster. Like the the menu screen and you
- 52:24know who's not on there? Kobe.
- 52:26You know who is on there? Unnamed friend #2.
- 52:30Yeah, I don't think she gets a name.
- 52:32Yeah, it's not even the one that, like, holds the hands.
- 52:35It's the hand holder's friend. Yeah, the friend of a friend.
- 52:38Yeah, she's on the poster. Somehow they, like, decided she
- 52:42was more important to the story. They were like, yeah, even we
- 52:45don't like Colby. So yeah, she sees that Colby's
- 52:49actually at the party too, and she goes over there to confront
- 52:52him. Yeah, apparently he was supposed
- 52:54to have an internship all summer and then she was going to join
- 52:57him in LA in the fall. And then he was like, well, it
- 52:59fell through and I'm gonna be working at the pool again.
- 53:02Besides, things really haven't been the same between us since
- 53:05last year. Bye.
- 53:07Yeah. God, he he fucking sucks.
- 53:10Like, but you kinda have to wonder, like, if this is how
- 53:14he's reacting to her now. Like, did he actually maybe
- 53:18break up with her at some point in the school year and she just
- 53:20didn't take the hint? It's possible.
- 53:23I'm not gonna say no. I mean, and I'm not blaming her
- 53:26for it, She's a high schooler. She's dumb young in.
- 53:28Love. Well, we've seen how stupid
- 53:30these people. Are.
- 53:32And this already, so yeah, I can see that when something by her.
- 53:35But you know what happens when you break up?
- 53:38You go Dr. Sadly, and then you park by a fence and sit on the
- 53:44hood of your Jeep. That's definitely going to be,
- 53:46like, way too hot to sit on after you've been driving around
- 53:49for hours. Yeah, and then the town deputy
- 53:52comes up and comforts you ominously.
- 53:55Honestly, yes, we get Mr. Hefner.
- 53:58Hafner, He's like, so. He is so much older than her and
- 54:03she is still in high school at this point and he is like
- 54:07hitting on her. Yeah, And it's like and he
- 54:12here's the scary thing about him is that like he's hitting on her
- 54:15in a way that like if you were to repeat word for word what he
- 54:19said like. As a normal human, you'd be
- 54:22like, no, that's just comforting a person.
- 54:24Or that's just being a police officer, asking why she's out
- 54:27here alone. But it's like his delivery.
- 54:30And this is what predators do. They say things that on paper
- 54:35are socially acceptable, but in a way that make their victims
- 54:40incredibly uncomfortable. And I can't tell you how many
- 54:42times in my life I've been in a position where I've been like,
- 54:45oh, that person made me super uncomfortable.
- 54:47Why? What do you say?
- 54:48Well, he said this. Well, that's not that in a.
- 54:51I'm like, no, it's the way, it's the implication.
- 54:54Yes, understand entirely what you're talking.
- 54:57About yeah. And yes, he does come across as
- 55:00a creep in this movie too, he is saying.
- 55:03This okay. So then she goes home.
- 55:05She looks at her photo board sadly.
- 55:08And reads the note from her parents, sadly.
- 55:10Yeah, the note that was like framed in a way.
- 55:11It's folded like all the others have been in all the other
- 55:13movies. So you think it's gonna be that?
- 55:15I know what? You do.
- 55:16Also ominous. Yeah, they are.
- 55:17Holy. Shit, they.
- 55:19Just leave her a note. But it's like really nice.
- 55:20And then it just says no party :).
- 55:24What if she hadn't seen that note there?
- 55:26I could never leave you a note somewhere and expect you to see
- 55:30it. I don't know.
- 55:33I like you. Know I'm bad about it, but maybe
- 55:36she's good. No.
- 55:37So I don't know. She could be a good note person.
- 55:40Yeah. Anyway, they're out of town, so
- 55:42she goes to bed, and then she's woken up by a ruckus in the
- 55:46kitchen at what looks like the middle of the night.
- 55:49Yeah, because it's dark. And here is why I don't think I
- 55:53like her family, because they've got a radio clock downstairs in
- 55:56the kitchen and it's going off and it says that it's like 2:30
- 56:01PM. Does it really?
- 56:02Yes. That's fucked up.
- 56:04Yeah, yeah, set your clocks correctly people.
- 56:08How do you function if you don't know what time it is in your
- 56:10kitchen? I see my note, I just have radio
- 56:14jump scare and then I was singing to myself.
- 56:16God We Are is radio jump scare. Yeah, so the phone rings and she
- 56:25goes to check it and she sees that she has 50 messages on her
- 56:29phone. So she looks at them and all 50
- 56:32messages say, I know what you did last.
- 56:34Night. You know what's really scary
- 56:35about this? What is that?
- 56:37It's 2006, and it probably cost you like $0.50 per each of those
- 56:41messages. Yeah, she had to pay $25 to be
- 56:44harassed by a ghost. Damn, that's sadistic.
- 56:50So Amber goes. Wait question, Yeah.
- 56:53How did the Ghost send this text message?
- 56:55Is it like the Ghost and unfriended that?
- 56:58Like it's in the computer just making the message appear?
- 57:02Where did we burn? On that, didn't we talk about
- 57:05like if it like what kind of ghost that was in that episode?
- 57:08Yeah, I think we decided that it was in the computer.
- 57:10Yeah, I think so. Yeah, like cuz I can't picture
- 57:14that dude if he hadn't died. Would have been very annoyed by
- 57:19cell phones, so I can't picture him in the afterlife deciding to
- 57:22learn how to use a cell phone. I feel like it's got to be like
- 57:25a Danny Phantom, like he goes into it and whatever.
- 57:29Think about the ring, though, you know what I mean?
- 57:32Like, she was back in the time before TVs and telephones
- 57:35existed. Yeah, but she learned how to use
- 57:37that technology. Yeah, but she wasn't like a
- 57:39grumpy old man. She was a grumpy little girl.
- 57:43If the ring were made nowadays, tomorrow would be a tik toker.
- 57:46Let's be real. No, you know it.
- 57:51You're right. OK, so she goes over to visit
- 57:56Zoe. Again, she is not visiting her.
- 57:59She is begging her for help. OK, whatever.
- 58:02So she's begging her for help because she's freaking out and
- 58:04my mom and dad are gone. Yeah.
- 58:07And so I was like, hey, remember how we used to be friends?
- 58:09And we aren't anymore. But she still lets her say
- 58:12because she's the bigger person. Yes, July 2nd, Zoe and Amber
- 58:17decided they're gonna go visit Roger at the ski lift repair
- 58:20place, which is just also where the ski lifts are.
- 58:23Yeah, Roger, by the way, is the guy that was the fisherman
- 58:26during the prank. He is very unamused with seeing
- 58:29them. He's also angry and then he sees
- 58:34the text messages, but he's like, well, I haven't spoken to
- 58:37Colby. Yeah, I do want to go to the
- 58:40cops though, because my life's kind of messed up anyway and
- 58:43they're like, well, let us talk to Colby 1st and see.
- 58:46See what we can come up with. So Amber tries to ease the
- 58:51tension with Zoe by, like joking about her Flyers and like, hey,
- 58:58remember how you said you sent me a bunch of Flyers before and
- 59:01I ignored them? Do you know, maybe send me one
- 59:03more, maybe one more. Ands always like those cost
- 59:08money to print. I don't know if you noticed, but
- 59:10I'm unemployed. Yeah, yeah, I live in a barn.
- 59:14That may or may not have actual energy.
- 59:17We don't know. We don't know.
- 59:21So yeah, they have a sheriff jump scare cuz.
- 59:25That these people in Colorado have nothing better to do than
- 59:28check on teenagers in their cars.
- 59:30He is like, the least justified red herring in this movie
- 59:34because, like, there's nothing like, it's all framed in a way
- 59:37that it's looking ominous and suspicious.
- 59:39But really, like, everything they is doing is like, he's got
- 59:43clear motives. Yeah, he's just checking on
- 59:45them. They're like pulled over on the
- 59:46side of the road, like, oh shit, car problems.
- 59:48Yeah, and I mean, yeah, he's a mad, sad dad, but.
- 59:52Is justified, Yeah. I don't think we've ever been
- 59:55upset at the mad, sad dads in this.
- 59:57No, they're always justified. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:01So Zoe confronts Colby as he is lifeguarding.
- 1:00:06They fight a little bit and when he goes back to his top chair,
- 1:00:09somebody has written in the water next to his chair.
- 1:00:13I know. And like, fades from the
- 1:00:16pavement, which I think is kind of cool it.
- 1:00:18Was really cool. I like that.
- 1:00:22OK, so Amber. Amber is mountain biking miles
- 1:00:28away from civilization. You know, the day after she
- 1:00:31begged to stay at her friend's barnhouse because she was scared
- 1:00:34of being alone. So she's out there all alone.
- 1:00:39Her tire gets shredded, she's not concerned about how it got
- 1:00:42shredded, and instead she walks to the ski resort.
- 1:00:46Looking for somebody to help her.
- 1:00:47And this man appears and he's like, I'll give you a lift since
- 1:00:49the storm's coming and you may think that he's gonna give her a
- 1:00:52ride back to town in his truck. I'm assuming he has a pickup
- 1:00:55truck because it's Colorado. Yeah, but no.
- 1:00:57Like, he actually puts her in a ski lift.
- 1:00:59Yep. Like actual left, he meant it
- 1:01:01literally. I'm calling bullshit on these
- 1:01:03ski lifts, like these are full on gondolas.
- 1:01:06They're enclosed. This is like bougie ski resort
- 1:01:11ski lifts. It's not, and it's not that kind
- 1:01:14of town. This is like your family can't
- 1:01:18afford to go on a ski vacation, but they can't afford like
- 1:01:21Aspen, you know? So you're saying?
- 1:01:23That this ski lift is too good for this town.
- 1:01:26Yeah, Okay, I didn't realize you could be too good for a ski.
- 1:01:29Lift and also all the other ski lifts are uncovered like the
- 1:01:33ones that we've seen them working on.
- 1:01:35Like, why do we suddenly have this covered gondola?
- 1:01:37Oh, it's because we need to have the fisherman smash the window
- 1:01:41and spook amber. I do like this.
- 1:01:44What all I could think of was like cool, now that nice guy
- 1:01:47that gave her a lift down is going to have to repair that
- 1:01:52window. Yeah, he's fucked like he's
- 1:01:54going to get blamed for. It and he's going to be like
- 1:01:56pissed cuz he's like I gave her a bride.
- 1:01:58I was just trying to do the nice thing.
- 1:02:00Wait on the storm. He might get fired.
- 1:02:02He might. Playing on this one.
- 1:02:05So yeah, she gets spooked because yeah, he attacks the ski
- 1:02:08lift thing. Okay.
- 1:02:11So. Colby's always Amber meet to
- 1:02:16talk about all this. Wait, Colby doesn't believe
- 1:02:19what's going on? And then they bring up the fact
- 1:02:22that Roger's not answering his call.
- 1:02:24Yeah, and this is where we get the Roger Sad montage.
- 1:02:27Yeah, and this says Roger's whacked.
- 1:02:29And then he's just like it cuts him and he's just like drinking
- 1:02:32and popping pills. Snorting pills.
- 1:02:34Snorting pills. Yeah, and you get a glimpse of
- 1:02:37his suicide note, too. Yeah, it's actually a really
- 1:02:40rough scene. This is one of those where the
- 1:02:43disorienting cut shots works, yeah.
- 1:02:45By the way, we completely skipped earlier when they met in
- 1:02:48the woods and they burned the slicker and they threw the hook
- 1:02:52in the lake. I'm.
- 1:02:52Gonna be honest, I did not put that in my notes at all.
- 1:02:54Okay. Well, it happened that was back
- 1:02:56after it originally happened on that night and they just threw
- 1:03:00the hook in the lake and they're like, OK, we won't speak of this
- 1:03:02again. Well, right here it's revealed
- 1:03:03that Roger. Quinton got that hook?
- 1:03:06Yeah, he hasn't now. Yeah, and he is going to use it
- 1:03:13to harm himself, but instead he gets killed by the fisherman.
- 1:03:19Yeah, he battles him with a bus saw.
- 1:03:21Like that's fucking awesome that they have a bus saw file.
- 1:03:25It's great. But yeah, he loses, he gets his
- 1:03:28throat. So it's a good kill.
- 1:03:29Zoe, Amber and Colby. Find the body when they go to
- 1:03:33talk to him, and then the cops arrive and Dippy Hafner
- 1:03:38ominously fills them in on it's like.
- 1:03:41God, yeah. He'd been failing classes,
- 1:03:43fighting with people. He was on antidepressants
- 1:03:47anyway, yeah. Like, yeah, Anyway, Amber.
- 1:03:50Did you need to tell him all of that?
- 1:03:52Was that? Like their knowledge to have.
- 1:03:55Yeah, I mean, I don't think that that was really cool because he,
- 1:03:58like, told him that in confidence.
- 1:04:00Yeah, like well, he wanted Amber to think he was cool.
- 1:04:03Yeah, I guess so. Yeah.
- 1:04:05He's like, I got all the gossip, by the way.
- 1:04:06Amber, if you got anything you want to tell me, give me a call
- 1:04:09or I'll call you. It's really awkward.
- 1:04:12Yeah, I wrote ominously. Comforts Amber again?
- 1:04:14Yeah, OK, so they assume that Roger was behind it all, but
- 1:04:20then they find like. A trail of shredded photos in
- 1:04:27Amber's house. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:29And then like, of course, another note of like, I still
- 1:04:31know or whatever. It's like all cut out and
- 1:04:33spelling soon from the. Pictures.
- 1:04:36So July 3rd, yeah, the trio checks up on Lance, accuse him
- 1:04:40of being behind it. And he was like, well, you guys
- 1:04:44really gonna be worrying about my uncle?
- 1:04:45Because he's been going around asking about some secret and
- 1:04:48they're all like, see? And here's the thing too, like.
- 1:04:54I don't If it's a ghost, why is the sheriff asking about a
- 1:05:00secret? I don't know.
- 1:05:02Maybe you just like gossip, you know?
- 1:05:05What's the details? Like he's just secret.
- 1:05:07He's just trying to treat Lance like a son now.
- 1:05:10Yeah. And I guess.
- 1:05:12If you. Yeah, So what you eat or not
- 1:05:15there about me? So yeah, the.
- 1:05:20Then Colby, it's like, oh, OK, well, clearly the sheriff's
- 1:05:22behind it all. And he leaves.
- 1:05:25They sit in the diner, talk about this loudly.
- 1:05:27You know what this conversation would have been good for?
- 1:05:31Loudly reciting an urban legend. That everybody.
- 1:05:34In your group. Was in on, but instead they're
- 1:05:38having a super secret conversation within 2 feet of
- 1:05:43other tables. Including the sheriff.
- 1:05:45Including the sheriff and then. Fucking Colby decides he's gonna
- 1:05:51leave a note on the sheriff's car.
- 1:05:53I didn't even write down what it said, but it's some bullshit of
- 1:05:56like. OK I see I got half of it, but
- 1:05:59then I started freestyling so I. There was no pausing this movie.
- 1:06:05There was not. We just we powered through.
- 1:06:07It we know what you're doing this summer, so back off it so
- 1:06:13nobody else knows. I'm not at all confident and
- 1:06:18that's how it actually. So it is something like we know
- 1:06:22what you're doing this summer. That part's correct.
- 1:06:24I threw in my own flair there. You improv.
- 1:06:27Yeah, so now we get to see Zoe. She's having dreams of the
- 1:06:32fishermen, yeah? And she wakes up and sees that
- 1:06:35all of her instruments have been fucked.
- 1:06:37Up. No, no.
- 1:06:37First she has a dream. That she's woken up by speaker
- 1:06:41feedback, and when she wakes up, the fisherman's there, but it's
- 1:06:45Pj's face. But she wakes up and it was just
- 1:06:47a dream, except the fisherman's standing right over her.
- 1:06:49But then she wakes up again and all of her shit's fucked, yeah.
- 1:06:53Maybe she did all of that and like all of that dreaming.
- 1:06:58Yeah, so Lance confronts Amber. He's like, I know what you did
- 1:07:02last summer and she's like, oh shit, it is you.
- 1:07:03And he goes now, like Roger told or PJ told me what you guys were
- 1:07:07planning beforehand. And now somebody has fucked up
- 1:07:10my sweet new Yamaha that I paid $6000 for.
- 1:07:15Fucked up her mountain back, dude.
- 1:07:17Yeah, so we get to see Colby. Apparently he's just like a
- 1:07:21swimmer. I guess so he's.
- 1:07:22This is such a trope and horror. Movie It is like, really, Do you
- 1:07:25want? To create tension, let's have
- 1:07:26somebody swimming laps. For no apparent reason, although
- 1:07:30he's a lifeguard, so I guess it makes some sense.
- 1:07:32Yeah, that's true, actually. So he's out there swimming and
- 1:07:34then all of a sudden the fisherman just comes out of
- 1:07:37nowhere with the hook and gets his Achilles.
- 1:07:39Yeah, it's pretty fucking gnarly.
- 1:07:42Yeah, it's not cool. And he bleeds a lot in the pool,
- 1:07:45so at least he knows he won't have to worry about work
- 1:07:47tomorrow cuz they're gonna have to plea in that shit.
- 1:07:49Don't even like, give the movie props, right?
- 1:07:52The effects are pretty good. No, I do think the effects are
- 1:07:55really good, Yeah. So they all converge in Zoe's
- 1:07:58garage, house, barn, and they decide that they're going to
- 1:08:03approach Hafner and they go to Hafner's house and oh, he's
- 1:08:07having a party. Ominously.
- 1:08:08Ominously, it is. Honest.
- 1:08:11Yeah. It's like he he's like it's a
- 1:08:13party. Full of cops.
- 1:08:14No shit is ominous. Yeah, well, they're like, well,
- 1:08:17you said if we ever wanted to talk, we could come over here
- 1:08:20and talk and here we are. He's like, yeah, having to get
- 1:08:22together, but come on back. And then the sheriff pops up.
- 1:08:26And Hafner is like. In full uniform, by the way.
- 1:08:29Yeah, everybody is dressed casually, but he's still got his
- 1:08:32badge and his cop uniform. On Mmhmm.
- 1:08:35Yeah, he's like these kids here were coming to talk to me.
- 1:08:42And then we have a weird jump to the next scene.
- 1:08:45Yeah, it just stops. They don't have a conversation.
- 1:08:47It's such an intense jump that it feels like we're meant to
- 1:08:51think something bad happens. I think our DVD did something
- 1:08:55well. Sometimes it does that whenever
- 1:08:57you're like, you go into the next scene.
- 1:08:58I think it just had a. I had to conquer myth.
- 1:09:01I can't. What just happened?
- 1:09:02I was like, whoa, let's go, let's.
- 1:09:04Keep going. Yeah, they come up with like a
- 1:09:07bullshit thing to the sheriff and they go, we're worried that
- 1:09:10there will be an attack on the anniversary of PJ South.
- 1:09:13Bay. That's a good cover.
- 1:09:16Yeah, a little bit tackless, because that's also the
- 1:09:18anniversary of his son's death, and he's probably not handling
- 1:09:21it well. That's true.
- 1:09:22Yeah. All right.
- 1:09:24No, it's July 4th. Colby has the hook.
- 1:09:28And Zoe has a big show that she's gonna perform at.
- 1:09:31Yeah, so there's like. A The whole thing was that they
- 1:09:33were all gonna leave town together.
- 1:09:35Yeah. They're like, if we stick
- 1:09:36together, we'll be fine. And then they go to pick up Zoe
- 1:09:39and she's like, well, there's gonna be agents at the talent
- 1:09:42show tonight and they've got, like, connections in LA.
- 1:09:45So it's like, Ohh OK And she's like, I'll definitely be safe on
- 1:09:49stage. I believe Helen would like to
- 1:09:54speak about that. You know, I was really hoping
- 1:09:56we'd get a moment like that in this movie.
- 1:09:58I thought it was building up to that, but it just doesn't do it.
- 1:10:02Especially like, say they took her like even harder rock made
- 1:10:05her metal, and then like, they think like the blood is just
- 1:10:08part of the show's effects. Oh yeah.
- 1:10:10That would be awesome. Yeah.
- 1:10:12Holy shit. Yeah, Fuck yeah.
- 1:10:13Metal. Yeah.
- 1:10:16So they all decide that they'll leave right after her show and
- 1:10:19they'll all be there with her together.
- 1:10:20You know, for the entire town, being here at this talent show,
- 1:10:25there sure are a lot of quiet places for people to be allowed.
- 1:10:30Well, like, I love like it shows you this dude playing a song
- 1:10:34whenever it first cuts to that. How hungover he's gonna be
- 1:10:37tomorrow. Yeah, but the way that they have
- 1:10:39the lighting done, it's so well done to like, make it look like
- 1:10:42there's a lot of people there, but really, I only saw four
- 1:10:44people there. Like, this is not a big
- 1:10:46sentence, I don't think. So Colby is very, very drunk.
- 1:10:52And he just continues drinking. At one point he goes behind the
- 1:10:55bar. I guess he's got a friend who
- 1:10:57works there and told him where he could find, like, a bottle
- 1:11:00that he could just drink from. So that's what he does.
- 1:11:02Well, Zoe and the Hooks perform. What a name.
- 1:11:06Holy shit, that's so fucking. Nice.
- 1:11:09You realize that they probably didn't come up with a name for
- 1:11:11the band until that scene, and they're like, ohh shit, we have
- 1:11:14to introduce the band, the hooks.
- 1:11:19So um. Amber is showing Lance the
- 1:11:22inspiration for the prank and she's like talking about the 1st
- 1:11:252 movies, so she's like got news clippings of Jennifer with you,
- 1:11:29it's character. Like whole scrapbook together.
- 1:11:31And I don't mean that. Like, it's a bunch of like, it's
- 1:11:34a literal scrapbook with, like, stickers and shit.
- 1:11:37Like it's an actual fucking scrapbook of people's real
- 1:11:40tragic deaths. Yeah, it's it's kind of weird
- 1:11:43again. Reminds me of a final
- 1:11:44destination. And final destination they
- 1:11:48wouldn't have like, made it into like a cute little scrapbook.
- 1:11:51They would be like it would be more like the Pepe Sylvia
- 1:11:54Bulletin board. I think it would be cool though,
- 1:11:56if it was somebody that was obsessed with death.
- 1:11:59You know, they just like scrapbook it.
- 1:12:01OK, so after the shows I was backstage.
- 1:12:05It went really well. Yeah.
- 1:12:07She got an agent's card. It's super exciting.
- 1:12:11And you think that they're going to be OK because Zoe and Lance
- 1:12:14and Amber all together, Fuck Colby, we don't care about him.
- 1:12:17So they're like, all right, time to get out of here.
- 1:12:21We're definitely going to make it out alive.
- 1:12:23And then as they go to the door, oh man, the fisherman appears.
- 1:12:26So they go running. And the world's largest fucking
- 1:12:28locker room. Yeah, it's.
- 1:12:30NFL teams don't get locker rooms this large, but they're like
- 1:12:34running around. They get split up.
- 1:12:37Cuz again scooby-doo elements going on here.
- 1:12:39And of course of course Zoe dies.
- 1:12:43Cuz she just had her moment. She achieved her dream.
- 1:12:46Yep. She peaked.
- 1:12:49She peaked. She peaked right after high
- 1:12:52school. Yeah, so she's gutted and thrown
- 1:12:57over a staircase. So.
- 1:13:00That's that's what happens to her.
- 1:13:02Lance and Amber find her. Amber hugs her and cries.
- 1:13:06So that way her nice white top becomes very bloody and
- 1:13:08suspicious and they hide as the sheriff appears because he finds
- 1:13:13the body and he calls it in. So that way we know that he's
- 1:13:16legit and he hears Lance and Amber and he like, goes to
- 1:13:19approach them and they're like, no, you don't understand.
- 1:13:21There's a killer and then as soon as they say that he's
- 1:13:24killed also, yes, OK. So they try to call Colby to
- 1:13:29warn him about what's going on, and he runs to the kitchen.
- 1:13:32I'm using the term run very generously.
- 1:13:34Yeah, he's like limping. Yeah.
- 1:13:35Yeah, Not not doing super. Yeah, he's doing.
- 1:13:37I mean, he's doing pretty good considering.
- 1:13:39Yeah, all things considered, Yeah, being very drunk and like,
- 1:13:43not at full utility of one of your feet.
- 1:13:46Yeah, very true. Yeah, so he runs to the kitchen
- 1:13:49and he grabs a knife and he stabs the fisherman and it does
- 1:13:52nothing. No.
- 1:13:54And he's killed, so now we can stop talking about Colby.
- 1:13:57Well, I like his death though. He hides behind one of the
- 1:14:00shelves and then he peeks out the window of one of the doors
- 1:14:04and the guy just hooks through the door and hooks his face.
- 1:14:07It's really well done. I like it.
- 1:14:09So Lance and Amber run outside, Deputy Hafner finds them and
- 1:14:13he's like, well, Roger told me what happened last week.
- 1:14:16I was protecting the secret for you, Amber and I was doing it.
- 1:14:19Ominously. Hey, he sounds like the fucking.
- 1:14:22Killer here. Well, I mean, we think he is
- 1:14:25because he's like getting the car.
- 1:14:26I'll take you somewhere safe and Zoe's body is in there, he goes.
- 1:14:28I legitimately don't know how that got in there.
- 1:14:31And as he's saying that, the fisherman appears and Hafner
- 1:14:35shoots him a couple of times with a shotgun.
- 1:14:39Yeah, he's taking shotgun blasts.
- 1:14:41It's insane. It's not doing anything.
- 1:14:43He Dick stabs Hafner. And he gets.
- 1:14:47Shoved into a forklift? Yeah.
- 1:14:49Sorry, Mom. Brutal.
- 1:14:51Oh, that ties back into Saw three, because we start off with
- 1:14:54slow ass motherfucking Jeff on the.
- 1:14:56On the. Forklift.
- 1:14:58Yeah, so Lance and Amber steal the deputy's truck, because
- 1:15:01who's gonna rest him now? And she realizes that when she
- 1:15:07hits the fisherman with the hook that he's a zombie because she
- 1:15:12knocks off his hat and he bleeds black.
- 1:15:15And he only. Takes damage from.
- 1:15:18The hood From the hood, that's. The only thing that can hurt
- 1:15:19him. So she's like, that must be the
- 1:15:22guy from 10 years ago. It's the only thing that makes
- 1:15:25sense. Yes, I really kept waiting for
- 1:15:29it to be like, I'm not even joking when I'm comparing it to
- 1:15:33scooby-doo. I was like, how are they gonna
- 1:15:35explain this one? Yeah, well, it's like the first
- 1:15:38time that we go to Monster Island, and it's actually
- 1:15:40monsters and not bad guys in masks.
- 1:15:42And it was like, well, this isn't what scooby-doo is
- 1:15:44supposed to be like. I like his look though.
- 1:15:47Yeah, I think he looks pretty good.
- 1:15:48So we get like the face reveal of him and yeah, you find out
- 1:15:51he's just a fucking ghost. Yeah, so they set a trap in shop
- 1:15:58and they end up fighting him and like the fisherman starts
- 1:16:01revealing that he can disappear and reappear and disappear and
- 1:16:04reappear. So he's got like some unfair
- 1:16:06tricks. Yeah, so Lance and Amber run off
- 1:16:11and Lance gets attacked while Amber is trying to get.
- 1:16:15Some piece of farm machinery to work.
- 1:16:17I don't know what it is. It's a shredder.
- 1:16:19Bulldozer thing, I don't know. I wrote backhoe, but then they
- 1:16:23end up pushing the fisherman into it and it like shreds him
- 1:16:26up. So I think maybe it's like a
- 1:16:28chipper wood chipper. Of sorts.
- 1:16:31It chips things. It chips him.
- 1:16:33Yeah, yeah, so, so much for the hook being the only thing that
- 1:16:37can damage. It's amazing.
- 1:16:40The same material, 5 minutes. Yeah, holy shit.
- 1:16:43You're right. You're so right.
- 1:16:45Well, it doesn't kill him. He's not dead.
- 1:16:49It's just a lot more pissed off now.
- 1:16:51It just sets him back. It's a set back.
- 1:16:53Yeah, so there we cut to them in an ambulance and they're being
- 1:16:56questioned. And she was like, it's just some
- 1:16:58guy, but he won't be any trouble now.
- 1:17:01And the cops are like, sounds legit.
- 1:17:03All right, bye. What the fuck happened to
- 1:17:08Hafner? We didn't.
- 1:17:11We totally didn't kill him. We did.
- 1:17:13I know that you can't find any traces of a body of the guy.
- 1:17:16Who the sheriff killed them but? You just have to yeah, like.
- 1:17:19Yeah, definitely was that hook that has our fingerprints you
- 1:17:21have. No, that's nine hours.
- 1:17:22We use that for protection. That's self-defense, yeah.
- 1:17:24Come on, man. It was the only thing that could
- 1:17:27hurt him. Do you understand?
- 1:17:28Red. Black.
- 1:17:30Except, we realized. Killed a bunch of teenagers 10
- 1:17:32years ago, and then they killed him.
- 1:17:34Except they didn't really kill him.
- 1:17:35He came back and then they actually killed.
- 1:17:37Him. Have you heard the myth?
- 1:17:39Where are you on the Ferris wheel?
- 1:17:42So you already know. Okay.
- 1:17:43Let's start. From the beginning, Okay.
- 1:17:46So you're later. Yes, another year.
- 1:17:48Amber is in Nevada with the best sell reception in the world.
- 1:17:51This is like the opposite of every horror movie trope.
- 1:17:54In the desert. The desert.
- 1:17:56She's on her way to LA. Yeah, cuz now Lance is living
- 1:18:00there cuz Lance's replacement Kobe.
- 1:18:02And neither of them is ever gonna address this in therapy.
- 1:18:04It's so weird, yeah. And she she she's like, man,
- 1:18:10what happens to me that I go out in these deserted areas and my
- 1:18:14tires are just shredded. What a life.
- 1:18:18And then Lance is like, do you have a spare?
- 1:18:20And she goes, yeah, I drive a fucking Jeep.
- 1:18:22These things are made of tires. It's true.
- 1:18:26And she gets out to go replace it, but she, like, walks around.
- 1:18:30One thing that this movie was missing was a what are you
- 1:18:33waiting for? Moment.
- 1:18:34And I thought that this is where we were gonna get it, because
- 1:18:37the camera's, like, building up to it.
- 1:18:39It's just panning around here. But then, like, it gets too.
- 1:18:42It would have been funny for her to like she's like looking at
- 1:18:45the tire and trying to pump herself up to change it.
- 1:18:47And she's like, come on, what are you waiting for?
- 1:18:49What are you waiting for? Yeah.
- 1:18:52That would be awesome if they did that.
- 1:18:55But now the fisherman's there just.
- 1:18:56Behind her and he gets her. So he survived it.
- 1:19:00He did OK And that's the movie folks, this.
- 1:19:05Movie makes less sense when you talk about.
- 1:19:07It. You're right, man.
- 1:19:08There's just like so many fucking weird things about it.
- 1:19:11There's so many plot holes. Who?
- 1:19:13Knows the magic to this, like. Did the fisherman do that like?
- 1:19:21No. Well, no, it wasn't a secret
- 1:19:23yet. What if PJ had a secret?
- 1:19:27PJ had a secret. There could be a prequel to
- 1:19:31this, then. Oh shit, I just.
- 1:19:34Wanna know what happened? I don't know.
- 1:19:36We'll never know. That's part of the mystery.
- 1:19:39Do you change your score? I'm.
- 1:19:41I'm gonna 4.5 baby, 4.5. I think that.
- 1:19:46Yeah, it's stupid. Yeah.
- 1:19:48It doesn't make sense. Yeah, it's generic as hell.
- 1:19:51But God damn, it's got some good kills, and it's a hell of a lot
- 1:19:54of fun to talk about. I'm not changing it.
- 1:19:57It's still 3.5. Look, this is fun to talk about.
- 1:20:00It's a beaten to watch. For me personally, Oh yeah, it's
- 1:20:03I I can see the people that this would appeal to, like I can see
- 1:20:11where people would get enjoyment out of it.
- 1:20:12And I'm not knocking the people that like it, and I'm not
- 1:20:14knocking the people that were involved in it, even though it's
- 1:20:17probably sounded like I have been for the past hour and a
- 1:20:20half. It just it like it doesn't do it
- 1:20:24for me because I I think if they had leaned into it being campy a
- 1:20:31little bit more I wish they'd it would be great.
- 1:20:34Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:20:34Like it would be really really fantastically hilarious.
- 1:20:38I agree. But like it it's not even like
- 1:20:42can't playing it straight. It's just like it's taking
- 1:20:44itself seriously. Yeah.
- 1:20:46So I just, I I just, I don't, I don't like it.
- 1:20:49Yeah, I I agree with you. I wish it would.
- 1:20:51Like, go camp. Like either unintentional camp
- 1:20:54or like full on lean into the absurdity of a camp.
- 1:20:57I think that would be the one I would want.
- 1:20:59Yeah. All right, well, what did Talia
- 1:21:03think of it? Talia was just like, she was
- 1:21:06restless throughout this whole movie.
- 1:21:08Yeah, I like, I think she sensed our stress of just like wanting
- 1:21:11to push through and get done. Like she was just like play
- 1:21:15games with me instead. Yeah, she really wanted to play
- 1:21:18a lot of games last night. So I think Talia gives this.
- 1:21:23She's gonna give this a three. That sounds right to me.
- 1:21:26I was thinking the same thing. Yeah, she was like 1-2, three.
- 1:21:28That's how many of these movies there are.
- 1:21:30And this is a movie. Yep.
- 1:21:32So makes sense. Zoe didn't watch a minute of
- 1:21:34this. Which is weird.
- 1:21:37There hasn't been a movie she's hated this much since.
- 1:21:41What was the movie that she hated?
- 1:21:42She came running in right after it was done.
- 1:21:44I can't remember. It wasn't that long ago, anyway.
- 1:21:50Okay, who did you relate to? The like friend that's kind of
- 1:22:02sick of holding her friend's hand.
- 1:22:04Like. A shitty relationship, that.
- 1:22:07She she's like hanging on to you for now.
- 1:22:09Like, not that I don't support my friends in that, but like,
- 1:22:12it's all like, OK, cool. Look, he's over there.
- 1:22:15Do you see him being a douche bag?
- 1:22:17Can we can we just, yeah, get done with this?
- 1:22:20But I relate to that. OK, I relate to PJ because
- 1:22:27whenever I was a kid, I was a teenager.
- 1:22:29I skateboarded and I. Hurt myself badly skateboarding
- 1:22:34a couple of times. In fact, I actually did that as
- 1:22:36like a 20 some year old too, like a few years ago.
- 1:22:39I really, really hurt my wrist that one time.
- 1:22:42He still talks about it to this day.
- 1:22:44It fucked. Anytime his wrist kind of hurts,
- 1:22:47he's like, it's that time that I was skateboarding with our buddy
- 1:22:50a few years ago and I'm like, it's probably not.
- 1:22:52You're like, no, it definitely is.
- 1:22:54So PJ was just playing with fire there.
- 1:22:56He was skateboarding on top of a building.
- 1:22:58He's gonna really. One day it's your wrist, Next
- 1:23:00day it's your guts. Then the day after that, it
- 1:23:03spikes. Do you have a dream sequel for
- 1:23:09this? OK, OK, this is not gonna land
- 1:23:13with you at all. And I don't know how many of our
- 1:23:16listeners will land with it. So you know the show I watch,
- 1:23:18Cruel Summer. Yeah, it's a really terrible
- 1:23:21show, but I can't not watch it. But I talked about this on Girls
- 1:23:26Like This a couple of sets ago. So the whole premise of the
- 1:23:31show, like the first season, it was like 3 separate summers.
- 1:23:35So like you get snippets from each and you have to put the
- 1:23:37pieces together for what happened.
- 1:23:39OK, so like you see the before, the during and the after and you
- 1:23:42have to go along with it. Season 2, completely different
- 1:23:47set of characters, completely different setting.
- 1:23:49It's fine. Except it's summer 1999, winter
- 1:23:551999 and summer 2000. What Okay?
- 1:23:59So they completely ignore the summer part of Cruel Summer. 1/3
- 1:24:05of the show is dedicated to winter.
- 1:24:07That's hilarious. And I want the next I know what
- 1:24:11you did last summer. To take place in the winter.
- 1:24:14In the winter. I want it to take place in the
- 1:24:16winter. You know, honestly, I.
- 1:24:19Just go full absurd. You know what I mean?
- 1:24:21I. Agree.
- 1:24:22I'm a big fan of taking seasons like horror movies and putting
- 1:24:26them in like interesting seasons like Friday the 13th in the
- 1:24:29snow. Like that sounds awesome.
- 1:24:31And the great thing with Friday the 13th is it can happen all
- 1:24:34year round. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:24:35They stuck with the Summer camp theme, but it could have.
- 1:24:37It could have been fucking April.
- 1:24:39How many April horror movies do we get?
- 1:24:41We've got April Fools. That's true.
- 1:24:43Yeah, and that's it. And also Nightmare on Elm
- 1:24:46Street. No winter ones.
- 1:24:47Of those, I think it would be pretty sweet to have one of
- 1:24:49those be cold, you know? It would be pretty cool.
- 1:24:53I'm on board. I like it.
- 1:24:55Plus, I just, I love the absolute high camp of it being.
- 1:25:01I know what you did last summer and then it's in the winter.
- 1:25:04Well, isn't it like a? Cuz you could do a similar thing
- 1:25:08like, you know, a bunch of teens.
- 1:25:10You know, just cavorting a route.
- 1:25:12No manslaughtering innocent strangers.
- 1:25:15And then they come home on winter break you.
- 1:25:17Want me to tell you this can be done?
- 1:25:20Do it like you can continue it in Colorado, Just go to the
- 1:25:23slopes. Exactly.
- 1:25:25We could even tie it in. 4th of July in like, snowy weather.
- 1:25:28Yeah, you can do it. All right.
- 1:25:31We got it right there. I'm on board.
- 1:25:33Hire us for the next installment.
- 1:25:35It can't get any worse. Dude, our Wrong Turn 3.5.
- 1:25:40It's pretty awesome, by the way. Like, I still think that that's
- 1:25:43a great premise for a Wrong Turn movie.
- 1:25:45All right, I'm sure you got a positive review for this.
- 1:25:48And I would really like to hear from somebody who genuinely
- 1:25:51loves this movie because like I said, I fully understand how
- 1:25:55somebody could love it, but I want to hear it in their own
- 1:25:56words. OK, well I went to IMDb.
- 1:26:01And this is somebody that rated it eight out of 10.
- 1:26:04OK, see, I went, I wanted to like, I wanted to vet these, and
- 1:26:08I wanted when they actually had like good insight on why they.
- 1:26:11Oh yeah, no, I always do that. I always look for something
- 1:26:13other than loved it. Yeah, and it was actually
- 1:26:18reviewed 2 days before it released.
- 1:26:28You've vetted that really good. This is a first.
- 1:26:34Well, maybe he had like an early show.
- 1:26:36Here's. The thing I could totally cut
- 1:26:38that out and nobody would ever know.
- 1:26:40But it's staying in. That's fine.
- 1:26:42That's cool. I wanna be fully transparent
- 1:26:44about the reviews here. All right, so it is titled.
- 1:26:49Not the best, but dot dot dot still very decent as someone
- 1:26:55whose work. As someone who works in the
- 1:26:58movie making industry, I know first hand that it's become
- 1:27:01quite difficult to get film makers to come up with
- 1:27:03storylines that are good. Hence the numerous and
- 1:27:06unnecessary remakes this is going on in, like the big remake
- 1:27:09boom by the. Way, Yeah.
- 1:27:10Oh yeah. It was the IT was the odds.
- 1:27:13Yeah, mid odds. Nonetheless, I'll Always Know,
- 1:27:16is a breath of fresh air from all the depressing remakes and
- 1:27:19rehashes of ancient movies that deserve to be left alone.
- 1:27:23Yes, there are times when the script is contrived and dull,
- 1:27:26but for the most part the action is decent and keeps a good
- 1:27:29steady pace. The gore is immensely greater
- 1:27:32than either one or two. And of course everyone is a red
- 1:27:35herring. Although I enjoy this movie, I
- 1:27:37know it won't be everyone's cup of tea as I've seen from reviews
- 1:27:41I've read. So other people have seen this
- 1:27:43too already. For someone who is looking for a
- 1:27:46movie that is about Scream, that is a.
- 1:27:48Was this movie peak on the festival?
- 1:27:51Service. I don't know.
- 1:27:53That would be amazing if it were for someone who is looking for a
- 1:27:59movie that is above screen, below Wes Craven in the 70s and
- 1:28:0480s and just wants to see a horror movie that gives great
- 1:28:08gore slightly above acting, especially the 80s.
- 1:28:11And a script that's more intelligent than most.
- 1:28:13See this. For everyone else, avoid.
- 1:28:16I want this dude's letterbox to count.
- 1:28:19Yeah, I wanna know what he's watching.
- 1:28:22He's got the early scoops, you know?
- 1:28:24Like, you know, you can find out all that shit online.
- 1:28:26Really. No.
- 1:28:27Like, again, it's one of those, I'm not gonna judge somebody for
- 1:28:30loving this movie. And I really hope there are
- 1:28:32people out there that love it, because every movie deserves to
- 1:28:34be loved. It's not what I wanted.
- 1:28:39And that's also part of that's just cuz I'm not a very big
- 1:28:42action person, you know, he mentioned a lot of action in
- 1:28:44this. Maybe that's what appeals to
- 1:28:45him. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:28:46I didn't like the action. Pieces of this, yeah, I just it
- 1:28:51wasn't for me. But that doesn't mean that it's
- 1:28:53a bad movie. You know, I think if you have
- 1:28:55never seen any of the other, I know what you did last summer
- 1:28:58movies. I think if this was like your
- 1:29:00first one, you would maybe have like, it's decent, you know,
- 1:29:03it's not bad. Yeah.
- 1:29:03Stuff that it comes in on this. We came in on Sleepaway Camp on
- 1:29:07Part 2. Yeah.
- 1:29:08Like, I mean, that's great. Yeah, but like, still like it
- 1:29:11was completely different from part one.
- 1:29:13Yeah, that's true, Yeah. And I could see if you came in
- 1:29:16on this like you'd be like, oh, OK, well, I don't have prior
- 1:29:18expectations and you know it. It's just hard to separate it
- 1:29:23from the other two for me personally.
- 1:29:24And I think a big part of those because those movies were super
- 1:29:28important to me growing up and really good.
- 1:29:31Yeah. And I fucking loved the
- 1:29:33soundtrack to the first one. I listened to it on repeat.
- 1:29:38Yeah. All right.
- 1:29:39Cool. Well, that was some good
- 1:29:41perspective from somebody that does actually like it.
- 1:29:44Well, that's good because we don't have any listener reviews
- 1:29:46for this one. Yeah, our listener reviews were
- 1:29:48I didn't know this movie existed and I forgot this movie existed
- 1:29:52until you posted this. Yep.
- 1:29:55That's totally understandable, cuz this is a well, actually I
- 1:29:58would have thought that more people knew that there was that
- 1:30:00there to know. You did last summer.
- 1:30:01Here's the thing, though, is there are plenty of franchises
- 1:30:04that I'm surprised at how many entries there are to them.
- 1:30:06That's true. That happens to me too.
- 1:30:08Yeah, like it happens. It's not that surprising.
- 1:30:11It's not like. Like it's an old franchise, like
- 1:30:14the best ones were in the 90s. Like, it's not like it's fresh,
- 1:30:17It's on people's minds, all the. Time and I could honestly Did we
- 1:30:20know that it existed before we found it at?
- 1:30:23I don't think so. Movies to go, that was their
- 1:30:25first watch for us both back then and that was in the twenty
- 1:30:2810s. Yeah, like, yeah.
- 1:30:31Did we even know it existed? And we were like, is this a
- 1:30:33sequel? Like, I think we might have had
- 1:30:35that reaction. Yeah.
- 1:30:37So yeah, I get it. That's cool.
- 1:30:41Or maybe GET. I'm sure we'll have some Screen
- 1:30:436 reviews. No, we definitely will.
- 1:30:46I'm very excited to talk about it.
- 1:30:48That's what we're talking about next week is Screen Six.
- 1:30:50We are closing up our screen coverage for now.
- 1:30:52For now, there will be a 7. That's been confirmed.
- 1:30:54Yeah, we just don't have like any kind of a date yet.
- 1:30:57And that's not coming anytime soon until some big execs decide
- 1:31:02stop being Grady, oh. Shit, I didn't even think about
- 1:31:04that. But yeah, that's really deleted.
- 1:31:06Dude, that. Halloween had that with COVID,
- 1:31:09and now Scream's gonna have that with the fucking strike.
- 1:31:11Yeah, yeah, all right, so I'm being greedy motherfuckers.
- 1:31:14Yeah, pay the people what they're worth.
- 1:31:16Yeah, OK. Anyway, scream 6 right now.
- 1:31:21You can watch it on. Paramount plus.
- 1:31:23Paramount Plus for sure. That's all I know you can.
- 1:31:26Rent it, Yeah, Let me look up where to rent it.
- 1:31:29It's also it just came out on Blu-ray this week actually so.
- 1:31:34So you can rent it, or you can stream it on Paramount Plus or
- 1:31:37Prime if you have a premium subscription.
- 1:31:40Or you can rent it from YouTube, Google Play, Red Box, or Voodoo
- 1:31:44for $6. Trust me.
- 1:31:46All worth the price of admission.
- 1:31:48If you've not seen it yet, and you've seen like the other five,
- 1:31:51fuck yeah, watch it. And if you were concerned about
- 1:31:55part 5, like if it made you concerned about part 6, don't,
- 1:32:00yeah. Don't be.
- 1:32:02Don't be concerned. I mean, I get where you're
- 1:32:03coming from, but. You know what?
- 1:32:05No, it's fun go in concerned. Because I went in concerned and
- 1:32:08I had a pretty nice experience with this.
- 1:32:11So you'll it might change your mind.
- 1:32:15And it's starring. Are there Dylan McDermott or
- 1:32:19Dermot Mulroney? One of the two of those.
- 1:32:21I get their names mixed up a lot.
- 1:32:22Yeah, I don't really. I'm not super familiar with the
- 1:32:25dude, but I respect them for this.
- 1:32:27Yeah, but I gotta. Say it's Dermot Mulroney.
- 1:32:30He had a brief guest appearance in like a three episode arc of
- 1:32:33Friends. We'll have this figured out next
- 1:32:36week. Will we?
- 1:32:37We will okay. We'll get to the bottom of.
- 1:32:38This in the meantime, We've already mentioned Patreon, but
- 1:32:42we do wanna shout out our patrons.
- 1:32:44Eric and Vivi have shaken, not scared Joe Freakatron, as is his
- 1:32:47full name. Amber.
- 1:32:49We got a neighbor in this movie too.
- 1:32:51And Michael. Yeah, so.
- 1:32:54Thank you guys. If you want to join them any
- 1:32:56tier you get a special shout out and you can enjoy certain parts.
- 1:33:01You can also support us in non financial ways by rating and
- 1:33:05reviewing it and following. Following is a big deal that
- 1:33:10makes a big difference for us. It tells the algorithms that
- 1:33:14we're worth listening to. Which tells other people that
