Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush, the truth about sorority life, with
• 0:04
Speaker 1: your hosts, me, Gia Giudice.
• 0:06
Speaker 2: Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Kessler. Hi, everybody. This is a
• 0:16
Speaker 2: juicy one. This is a juicy one. Okay, so this
• 0:19
Speaker 2: is what I would call this dirty. This is a
• 0:21
Speaker 2: dirty rush, dirty rush. So we have someone here who
• 0:25
Speaker 2: will remain nameless. She is a senior. at a college
• 0:31
Speaker 2: on the West Coast. I will say that. I also
• 0:33
Speaker 2: will say she is in the middle of rush. So
• 0:35
Speaker 2: we grabbed her. It's bid day today. We grabbed her
• 0:40
Speaker 2: out and we're going to get all the dirty dirt.
• 0:43
Speaker 2: You are in a top house. I would argue you're
• 0:46
Speaker 2: in the top house at your school. Some people could
• 0:48
Speaker 2: argue there's probably two. Would you say there's two or
• 0:50
  Speaker 2: three top houses?
• 0:51
Speaker 3: I would say there's one other one that's up there
• 0:53
  Speaker 3: with us.
• 0:53
Speaker 2: That's considered the top two. And then would you say
• 0:56
Speaker 2: there's two more that are sort of right below?
• 0:58
  Speaker 3: Yes.
• 0:59
Speaker 2: I will say the names of those four houses and
• 1:01
Speaker 2: you won't know what house she's in. Kappa, Alpha Phi,
• 1:03
  Speaker 2: Pi Phi, DG?
• 1:04
  Speaker 3: Yes.
• 1:06
Speaker 2: So she's in the top two of those four, whatever
• 1:09
Speaker 2: you consider those to be. It is the middle of Rush.
• 1:12
Speaker 2: And we're going to get the inside track of what's happening.
• 1:15
Speaker 2: So first, let's quickly go through The days. So Rush
• 1:19
Speaker 2: goes for about a week at your school. She's counting,
• 1:22
Speaker 2: counting on her fingers. Five. College student, counting on her fingers.
• 1:25
Speaker 2: So five days. And the first two days, they go
• 1:28
Speaker 2: to all the houses. Then what's the third day? Sisterhood.
• 1:32
Speaker 2: And what happens on sisterhood?
• 1:34
Speaker 1: Sisterhood is where they go. The PNMs go from 12
• 1:37
Speaker 1: houses to nine houses. So we rank them. They rank us.
• 1:40
Speaker 3: Sisterhood is house tours. So that's fun.
• 1:44
Speaker 2: So that's when they go and they see the houses. Yes.
• 1:46
Speaker 2: And I always think that certain houses have an advantage
• 1:49
Speaker 2: that don't have super gnarly sleeping porches, but we can
• 1:53
Speaker 2: get into that another time. So then what's on the
• 1:55
  Speaker 2: fourth day?
• 1:56
Speaker 3: Fourth day is philo.
• 1:58
Speaker 2: Okay. So this is strange that you guys call it philo.
• 2:01
Speaker 2: So I think for people that don't know, that's philanthropy.
• 2:06
Speaker 2: So this is where you share the charity or the
• 2:10
Speaker 2: organization that is passionate to your sorority. In this case,
• 2:14
Speaker 2: Kappa Alpha Phi DG Pi Phi. Okay, so you've told
• 2:17
Speaker 2: me previously, and I know this secret person, what makes
• 2:22
Speaker 2: your sorority so strong on Philo Day? Philo Day. Philo Day.
• 2:30
Speaker 1: For us with our chapter, our chapter is very universal.
• 2:33
Speaker 1: And they also like these philanthropies, they're nationwide. So at every-
• 2:37
Speaker 1: So at every Kappa, it's this thing. At every DG,
• 2:39
Speaker 1: it's this thing. At every Pi Phi, it's this thing.
• 2:41
Speaker 1: At every Alpha Phi, it's this thing.
• 2:43
Speaker 2: Yes. So say somebody's charity could be breast cancer. So
• 2:46
Speaker 2: across the whole country, that sorority focuses on breast cancer
• 2:52
  Speaker 2: as their initiative.
• 2:54
Speaker 1: So Kappa is mental health. A Phi is heart health
• 2:57
Speaker 1: for women. Pi Phi is literacy for children. It goes
• 3:01
Speaker 1: and not the same every year.
• 3:02
  Speaker 3: No.
• 3:03
Speaker 2: So this is sort of for a decade at a time.
• 3:06
  Speaker 3: Right.
• 3:06
Speaker 1: So below day, I remember when I was doing it
• 3:10
Speaker 1: as like as a PNM, you know, you go into
• 3:13
Speaker 1: each house and. From my perspective, there were some houses
• 3:17
Speaker 1: that definitely just felt like they were doing their philo
• 3:20
Speaker 1: because it was required.
• 3:21
Speaker 3: It wasn't anything that they really cared about.
• 3:23
Speaker 1: It was just like, this is required from us by
• 3:26
Speaker 1: Panhellenic and we have to raise excess money. We have
• 3:30
Speaker 1: to do two events a year and this is what
• 3:33
Speaker 1: we're going to do and that's about it. And sometimes
• 3:36
Speaker 1: it can be a little bit of a snooze when
• 3:37
Speaker 1: you're at these houses and they're giving their presentations and
• 3:40
Speaker 1: it's just no one cares. No one's affected by anything.
• 3:43
Speaker 1: No one like, has any passion going really towards it.
• 3:46
Speaker 1: It just seems like something that we have to do.
• 3:48
Speaker 2: Yeah, because from a bird's eye view, it does seem dull. Look,
• 3:53
Speaker 2: this is where we keep it real. I think philanthropy
• 3:57
Speaker 2: is very important. I think being charitable is very important.
• 4:00
Speaker 2: As a college freshman, I think I would think, well,
• 4:02
Speaker 2: this is dull or wah, wah, wah, kind of like
• 4:06
Speaker 2: I'm just hearing it. So what makes it so special
• 4:09
Speaker 2: at your house where it actually helps you win?
• 4:13
Speaker 1: For our house, what we do, so we actually have
• 4:17
Speaker 1: two philanthropies. We have one that's on campus and then
• 4:20
Speaker 1: we have one that's national.
• 4:22
  Speaker 2: Okay.
• 4:22
Speaker 1: So for the one that we do on campus, it was,
• 4:26
Speaker 1: it's something for an alumni that we had. And we
• 4:29
Speaker 1: share a really emotional video that we've made, that we've
• 4:32
Speaker 1: used over the years.
• 4:33
Speaker 2: And that kind of- That's girls from your school or
• 4:36
Speaker 2: more national? From our school. Okay, cool. That's from our school.
• 4:39
Speaker 1: And then for our second philo, which is our national philo,
• 4:42
Speaker 1: we have one of our girls who was our philanthropy
• 4:45
Speaker 1: chair last year come up and do a speech about
• 4:48
Speaker 1: how she was very personally affected by what our philo
• 4:52
  Speaker 1: fights for.
• 4:53
Speaker 3: A cause for, basically.
• 4:55
Speaker 1: And very, very emotional, tearjerker story because it's just.
• 5:02
Speaker 3: It's true. It's true and it's real and you can
• 5:05
  Speaker 3: see that.
• 5:08
Speaker 1: I think it catches the PNM's attention that this isn't
• 5:11
Speaker 1: just something that we're required to do. And it then
• 5:14
Speaker 1: allows them to connect more with us and be something
• 5:17
  Speaker 1: that's more vulnerable.
• 5:19
Speaker 2: Go beyond the surface. What's your major? Where'd you go
• 5:21
  Speaker 2: to high school?
• 5:22
  Speaker 3: Right.
• 5:22
Speaker 2: And what dorm are you in to something that's like real?
• 5:25
Speaker 1: Yeah. So for, and for us too, like we always say,
• 5:27
Speaker 1: like when we start off with the two unity days
• 5:30
Speaker 1: and sisterhood, like those are more traditional surface level days
• 5:34
Speaker 1: where you're having more.
• 5:36
  Speaker 3: Cookie cutter conversations.
• 5:38
Speaker 1: Then for us, when we go into philo and we
• 5:40
Speaker 1: go into prep, that's when we're vamping things up. I
• 5:43
Speaker 1: would say other houses, that's when they're starting to lose
• 5:45
Speaker 1: momentum because they're not really connecting with their PNMs by
• 5:49
Speaker 1: the time that philo hits and it's kind of a
• 5:52
  Speaker 1: snooze fest.
• 5:53
Speaker 2: Okay. So then the fifth day, which was last night
• 5:58
Speaker 2: for you at this mystery, mystery school was prep night.
• 6:03
Speaker 2: So how would you describe pref night? Like what is, what,
• 6:06
Speaker 2: what happens that night? Give sort of a little bit of,
• 6:09
  Speaker 2: you know, explanation.
• 6:11
Speaker 1: Pref night for us is we really solidly say that
• 6:15
Speaker 1: every single girl that comes back to pref and makes
• 6:18
Speaker 1: it that far are girls that we want.
• 6:20
Speaker 2: So say a hundred, can you even give me a
• 6:22
Speaker 2: ballpark number? So do you have, you have two parties
• 6:25
  Speaker 2: on pref night?
• 6:25
  Speaker 1: Four.
• 6:27
  Speaker 2: Four.
• 6:28
Speaker 3: Oh, because we have, you have four, four P and
• 6:31
Speaker 3: F go to two.
• 6:32
Speaker 2: So how many about at every party? 50?
• 6:36
Speaker 3: No, like- Less. Maybe 30.
• 6:39
  Speaker 2: Okay. So say there's about 120 girls then. So 30, 30, 30, 30.
• 6:45
Speaker 2: And would you say for the most part, you would
• 6:50
Speaker 2: be happy with all 120 of those girls? So at
• 6:52
Speaker 2: that point, they're down to it. You pretty much want them.
• 6:56
Speaker 2: And now it's putting them on the top of the
• 6:58
Speaker 2: list or the is that how you guys do it?
• 7:01
Speaker 2: The way it was in my day is like, say
• 7:03
Speaker 2: there's one to 120 and the list goes and your top,
• 7:07
Speaker 2: top 50 are the top 50. And then the second
• 7:10
Speaker 2: half is your next. And then so on.
• 7:13
Speaker 1: Ours for us, how it works now is you have
• 7:16
Speaker 1: these things called prep points. And this is every, every
• 7:19
Speaker 1: chapter you have are given six prep points and you
• 7:22
Speaker 1: can give a prep point to a girl that you
• 7:24
Speaker 1: either have a connection score with, which I'll explain or,
• 7:29
Speaker 1: Or you talk to them at some point during recruitment.
• 7:32
Speaker 3: It could have been you talk to them on Unity Day.
• 7:34
Speaker 2: Every current girl in the house gets six?
• 7:37
  Speaker 3: Yes. Oh, wow.
• 7:38
Speaker 2: This is so different.
• 7:38
Speaker 3: Okay. Yeah. So every girl.
• 7:40
Speaker 2: And you have to figure out how to spend your six.
• 7:43
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 7:43
Speaker 1: I mean, normally you even actually don't end up using
• 7:47
  Speaker 1: all six because.
• 7:49
Speaker 1: A lot of girls don't make it back that you
• 7:51
Speaker 1: had talked to in the beginning. I mean, you have
• 7:53
Speaker 1: to think of like, we started with 1,500 PMS.
• 7:55
Speaker 3: Right, right, right. And now we're down to 120.
• 7:57
Speaker 2: Would you give all six of your prep points to
• 8:00
Speaker 2: one girl? No. Oh, you have to spread it out.
• 8:02
Speaker 3: You have to spread it out. A max one, so.
• 8:04
Speaker 1: And before recruitment starts, you have something called a connection
• 8:07
Speaker 1: score where you are given the entire list of all
• 8:10
Speaker 1: the PNMs that come in. And if you have a
• 8:13
Speaker 1: connection to them, you went to high school with them.
• 8:15
Speaker 1: If they're from your hometown, if they're a family friend,
• 8:17
Speaker 1: whatever it is, you can give them a preference point.
• 8:20
  Speaker 1: And because you.
• 8:21
Speaker 2: Have a connection score with them. By the way, anyone listening,
• 8:24
Speaker 2: this is so confusing. And the way we used to
• 8:26
Speaker 2: do it is so much easier. This is like a mess,
• 8:29
Speaker 2: but okay. So you've got your monopoly money and you're
• 8:31
Speaker 2: spending your $ 6 on Okay. So then you say, I'm
• 8:35
Speaker 2: going to give Mary a dollar. I'm going to give
• 8:38
Speaker 2: Sally a point. I'm going to give Susie a dollar.
• 8:41
Speaker 2: I'm going to give Paige a dollar and I'm going
• 8:43
Speaker 2: to give Molly a dollar.
• 8:45
Speaker 1: Let's say, so let's say that you, it's preference night
• 8:49
Speaker 1: and you don't see a single girl that you talk
• 8:50
Speaker 1: to from recruitment. None of them, none of them made
• 8:53
  Speaker 1: it back.
• 8:53
  Speaker 2: Okay.
• 8:54
Speaker 3: Then it's, I have six preference points. What do I do?
• 8:57
Speaker 1: What we do then on Pref is you allow drop-ins.
• 9:00
Speaker 1: You can do max two drop-ins where you can go
• 9:03
Speaker 1: drop in on a PNM and.
• 9:06
  Speaker 3: Their Pref buddy.
• 9:07
  Speaker 2: To meet them.
• 9:07
Speaker 3: To meet them so that you can give them a
• 9:09
  Speaker 3: Pref point.
• 9:10
Speaker 2: But you can only do it to two people.
• 9:11
Speaker 3: You can only do it.
• 9:12
  Speaker 2: Each party?
• 9:14
  Speaker 3: Each party.
• 9:15
Speaker 2: For people listening, it's so like, look, I get it.
• 9:17
Speaker 2: It's like, huh? All right, so let's try to like
• 9:21
Speaker 2: help people here. So Pref night's happening and- typically two
• 9:28
Speaker 2: girls prep a girl. Is that right?
• 9:31
Speaker 1: You have two, one girl will prep one PNM. And
• 9:34
Speaker 1: then once those two run off to their room together, one-on-one, one-on-one.
• 9:40
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 9:41
Speaker 1: Once those PNM and active run to a room together,
• 9:44
Speaker 1: they chit chat for a while. Then there'll be two
• 9:47
Speaker 1: other girls that are active.
• 9:50
Speaker 3: And they will go and drop in, in the room.
• 9:53
Speaker 2: So, so we, and, I can't reveal, but this secret
• 9:58
Speaker 2: person and I are in a similar sorority. I'll say
• 10:02
Speaker 2: that much. So we had two-on-one prepping. And in my case,
• 10:08
Speaker 2: I knew both of them. They were both hometown people.
• 10:12
Speaker 2: So that I think also is more rare, right? Because
• 10:17
Speaker 2: you would... typically meet have met the person that that
• 10:20
  Speaker 2: week right yeah.
• 10:21
Speaker 1: You typically don't we typically want to avoid you prepping
• 10:25
Speaker 1: someone just because you're hometown people that's more a thing
• 10:30
Speaker 1: of you can drop in but you shouldn't be the
• 10:32
Speaker 1: main prep person as I would say that more so
• 10:35
Speaker 1: if you're a junior or senior got it I mean.
• 10:38
Speaker 2: Yeah and look on on prep I went to Kappa
• 10:42
Speaker 2: DG and Tridel and at Kappa, I knew both people.
• 10:47
Speaker 2: At DG, I knew both people. And at Tridel, they
• 10:50
Speaker 2: were new. I didn't know them, but I kind of
• 10:53
Speaker 2: knew people they knew. So I think back in the day,
• 10:56
Speaker 2: it was more common that you would actually pref the
• 10:58
Speaker 2: person you knew from growing up or high school or
• 11:01
Speaker 2: family or whatever. Okay, so tell me a little bit
• 11:06
Speaker 2: about Pref Night. You've got this girl in the room.
• 11:09
Speaker 2: What kind of stuff are you now saying to her?
• 11:11
Speaker 3: Craft night for us is night.
• 11:12
Speaker 2: We have to be one-on-one. For some reason, I thought
• 11:14
Speaker 2: you weren't allowed to ever be one-on-one with a person
• 11:16
Speaker 2: in the room, but I'm using that. So you can be,
• 11:21
Speaker 2: and you go into the bedrooms.
• 11:22
  Speaker 3: Yes.
• 11:23
Speaker 2: And do you sit on the balcony? No.
• 11:26
Speaker 3: That's too out in the open.
• 11:27
Speaker 2: If your house has a balcony.
• 11:29
  Speaker 3: Okay.
• 11:30
Speaker 2: So you're in the room with the girl. And what
• 11:33
Speaker 2: kind of stuff are you saying to her now at
• 11:34
  Speaker 2: this point?
• 11:34
Speaker 1: I think this is a point now where you can
• 11:37
Speaker 1: talk about the untraditional things that you aren't supposed to
• 11:40
  Speaker 1: talk about.
• 11:41
Speaker 3: During recruitment such as going out like um the fun
• 11:46
Speaker 3: events that you guys do together of like if you
• 11:49
Speaker 3: guys do something with like this frat house.
• 11:51
Speaker 2: Invite talking about bullies you're talking.
• 11:53
Speaker 1: About like what people like to say like the five
• 11:56
Speaker 1: b's so you're going to talk about those things and
• 11:58
Speaker 1: it's mainly just because this is a night where like
• 12:02
Speaker 1: we're fighting for them we need to convince them that
• 12:04
Speaker 1: they should be in this house and not the one
• 12:06
Speaker 1: other house that they're prepping So if that involves us
• 12:10
Speaker 1: making a PowerPoint and showing them like the unhinged photos
• 12:14
Speaker 1: of how we actually are once they join the sorority,
• 12:18
Speaker 1: then that's going to help. And that's more enticing and
• 12:20
Speaker 1: that gets them more excited.
• 12:21
Speaker 2: This point now, here's my hot take on Rush. All
• 12:25
Speaker 2: through the week, it's advantage house, especially top houses, right?
• 12:30
Speaker 2: The house really has the advantage. On pref night, it
• 12:33
Speaker 2: really flips, in my opinion. Now the girl has the advantage,
• 12:36
Speaker 2: especially if she's going to two top houses, because that
• 12:39
Speaker 2: means these houses are now fighting for her. And she's
• 12:42
Speaker 2: kind of in pole position where she really is going
• 12:45
Speaker 2: to pick. So what happens is after last night, they
• 12:47
Speaker 2: come and it went late, right? You went to like
• 12:49
  Speaker 2: 11 o'clock at night.
• 12:51
Speaker 3: So late. I don't think I was home till like 12.
• 12:53
Speaker 2: Because school is also, you're good doing school.
• 12:54
Speaker 1: Yeah, we do every part, every round after school. So
• 12:58
Speaker 1: it's like, you start at like six.
• 12:59
Speaker 2: So you have these parties, the girls leave and they
• 13:03
Speaker 2: go wherever they go and they write down number one,
• 13:06
Speaker 2: number two. So if they went to DG and Kappa,
• 13:10
Speaker 2: they put whatever their top choice is and whatever their
• 13:12
Speaker 2: second choice is. And somehow- Through the algorithm, through Panhellenic,
• 13:17
Speaker 2: there's some sort of everything enters into a computer. This
• 13:20
Speaker 2: is my archaic way of explaining it. And the computer
• 13:23
Speaker 2: figures out the matches because it wants to get the girls.
• 13:27
Speaker 2: They're number one. Right.
• 13:28
Speaker 3: It's in the PNF's favor. Yeah.
• 13:30
Speaker 2: And so if you're anywhere in the top list or
• 13:33
Speaker 2: these points in our day, it was like a list.
• 13:37
Speaker 2: and you match, you're going to get your first choice.
• 13:39
Speaker 2: They want to give you your first choice at that point.
• 13:41
Speaker 2: This is where like when people call me and they're like,
• 13:43
Speaker 2: should I suicide? Excuse the word, but that's what people
• 13:46
Speaker 2: call it. I usually say no.
• 13:50
Speaker 3: No, I normally recommend to not suicide.
• 13:54
Speaker 2: Second house is a house that you literally will not,
• 13:56
Speaker 2: you'll turn it down.
• 13:57
Speaker 1: I still even say, even if you do have a
• 14:02
Speaker 1: higher rank house and a lower rank house, and you're
• 14:04
Speaker 1: going into that on prep, It is really best to
• 14:08
Speaker 1: just put that as your number one.
• 14:10
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Okay, so the girls leave and if we're
• 14:28
Speaker 2: repeating stuff, sorry, it's just so confusing. It's like everyone listening.
• 14:31
Speaker 2: I feel like you'd just be like, huh?
• 14:33
  Speaker 3: So.
• 14:34
Speaker 2: You now know the girls that are coming to your
• 14:37
Speaker 2: house tonight for bid day. They don't know yet, but
• 14:41
Speaker 2: you all get a list, and I'm sure this is
• 14:43
Speaker 2: true of every house in your school. They know the
• 14:45
Speaker 2: girls that are coming, probably so you can prepare, but
• 14:49
Speaker 2: they don't find out till like five o'clock, right? So five, 5.30,
• 14:52
Speaker 2: whatever it is. Do they open an envelope or how
• 14:55
Speaker 2: do they find out? They open an actual physical old
• 14:57
  Speaker 2: school envelope.
• 14:58
  Speaker 3: Yes.
• 14:58
Speaker 2: And then do they run right over?
• 15:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, they, they run right on home. All the frats
• 15:03
Speaker 1: will be holding up signs.
• 15:04
Speaker 3: Really? Well, the top house is that.
• 15:07
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 15:07
  Speaker 3: So what happens?
• 15:08
Speaker 2: The fraternity boys are out there like, yay, DG, yay.
• 15:12
  Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
• 15:12
Speaker 1: Whoever, whatever house you're tight with, they'll be holding out signs.
• 15:17
Speaker 1: We do another thing too, where we have sports teams
• 15:21
Speaker 1: come out and hold signs like in front of our house.
• 15:23
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 15:23
Speaker 1: We'll have like baseball and water polo. They'll all be
• 15:26
Speaker 1: holding our house signs.
• 15:28
Speaker 2: Welcome to DJ. Welcome to Kappa. Welcome to Pi Phi. Oh, cute. Cute.
• 15:33
Speaker 2: And then there's sort of a girls only party, right?
• 15:35
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 15:35
Speaker 1: Then everyone disperses and then you all go into the house.
• 15:38
Speaker 3: And do you have dinner? A day party. I don't remember.
• 15:42
Speaker 3: I think so. We have like.
• 15:44
Speaker 2: You figure if it's six o'clock.
• 15:45
Speaker 3: Yeah. You have like, we have like catering things. Yeah. Yeah.
• 15:48
Speaker 2: And then how late does it go tonight?
• 15:51
  Speaker 3: I think till like 10.
• 15:52
Speaker 2: But you're still not allowed to go out. You're not
• 15:54
Speaker 2: allowed to go to fraternities yet, or you are?
• 15:56
Speaker 3: You're not allowed to go to fraternities yet.
• 15:58
Speaker 1: I mean, I'm a senior, so we're going to go out,
• 16:00
Speaker 1: but we're not going out to the frat parties. But
• 16:02
Speaker 1: they're supposed to be dry until tomorrow at 8 a.m.
• 16:06
Speaker 2: Okay, so today's Tuesday. So bid day's on Tuesday. So
• 16:09
Speaker 2: starting tomorrow, Wednesday, you could go.
• 16:12
Speaker 3: You can go on frat property.
• 16:14
Speaker 2: You can go on some of this on a Saturday,
• 16:16
Speaker 2: but it's too late. Okay, so then, and then this weekend,
• 16:20
  Speaker 2: there's parties.
• 16:21
Speaker 3: Yeah, this weekend's game day. So there's a big weekend.
• 16:24
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So that's a lot of schools. Okay,
• 16:28
Speaker 2: so do you typically think that most of the girls
• 16:34
Speaker 2: get their first choice? Is there a lot, like, how
• 16:37
Speaker 2: often does a girl get her second choice? I.
• 16:42
Speaker 1: I have to admit, I have one, my roommate, she,
• 16:45
Speaker 1: I didn't know this about her, but she put down
• 16:48
Speaker 1: 80 pie, which was a lower ranked house at my
• 16:52
Speaker 1: school and put them first and actually put a fee
• 16:57
Speaker 1: second and then ended up in it and ended up
• 17:00
  Speaker 1: in a fee.
• 17:01
  Speaker 2: Oh, interesting.
• 17:02
  Speaker 3: Okay.
• 17:03
  Speaker 2: Okay. Interesting.
• 17:04
Speaker 3: So, I mean, It's really hard to determine. That is
• 17:07
Speaker 3: a strange. It's so confusing with the algorithm and the
• 17:11
  Speaker 3: prep point.
• 17:11
Speaker 2: That's very strange that that happened.
• 17:14
Speaker 3: Yeah. And I were always like, when were you going
• 17:17
Speaker 3: to be an 80 pie? Like that makes zero sense.
• 17:19
Speaker 2: And then you wanted to get 80 pie.
• 17:21
Speaker 3: Yeah. No, she didn't get it.
• 17:23
Speaker 1: Cause I, and that just means that they didn't rank
• 17:25
Speaker 1: her high. They didn't give her enough prep points to
• 17:28
Speaker 1: be at a higher part of the list for the cutoff.
• 17:31
Speaker 3: I mean, we cut off at 50 PNMs. Yeah.
• 17:33
Speaker 2: Is that what your pledge class size is most likely 50,
• 17:36
  Speaker 2: 50 girls?
• 17:37
Speaker 3: Pretty 50 cut off. Yeah.
• 17:39
  Speaker 1: Okay.
• 17:39
Speaker 2: Interesting. And nobody moves right in. They all live in somewhere.
• 17:42
  Speaker 2: Nobody typically.
• 17:43
Speaker 3: No, no, no. They, they live in the dorms until
• 17:45
Speaker 3: sophomore year. So, okay.
• 17:47
Speaker 2: So back on like prep, how far will you push it?
• 17:53
Speaker 2: And also we'll talk about this situation. And again, if
• 17:57
Speaker 2: we're repeating, I apologize. So I know some girls going
• 18:01
Speaker 2: through Rush. They're friends' kids, right? Because obviously I'm old.
• 18:04
Speaker 2: So my mom friends have daughters going through Rush at
• 18:09
Speaker 2: your school. So what I was wondering is, obviously, we're
• 18:14
Speaker 2: not going to pretend I don't know them. You're not
• 18:16
Speaker 2: going to pretend I don't know them. Is it considered
• 18:19
Speaker 2: dirty Rush that I've been asking you questions? I know
• 18:24
Speaker 2: what they like. I might be telling you what they like.
• 18:27
Speaker 2: You might be telling me, oh, they're still on the list.
• 18:30
  Speaker 2: We're careful about it, but I don't know where I
• 18:34
Speaker 2: draw the line on, is that dirty rush? I mean, frankly,
• 18:37
  Speaker 2: I don't care.
• 18:39
Speaker 3: I think dirty rush is really only applicable if it
• 18:42
Speaker 3: actually is impacting the PNM and how far she moves
• 18:48
Speaker 3: up within the house.
• 18:49
Speaker 2: Dirty rush is also like, say Alpha Phi was like,
• 18:53
Speaker 2: we're giving you a bid. You should put us first.
• 18:55
Speaker 2: And if you're splitting with Kappa, they're not going to
• 18:57
Speaker 2: put you first. So you won't get them. That seems
• 18:59
  Speaker 2: very dirty.
• 18:59
Speaker 3: I think like with our situation, if it's a girl.
• 19:04
  Speaker 1: That I hadn't even met and I hadn't even talked
• 19:06
Speaker 1: to her and my say literally means nothing. And I
• 19:08
Speaker 1: literally can't even vote on her to be like ranked
• 19:12
Speaker 1: up higher in the house.
• 19:13
Speaker 3: Then it's not even applicable to being dirty. Right.
• 19:15
Speaker 2: Like, could you have done a drop in with my girls.
• 19:18
Speaker 3: That I only if she knew me?
• 19:20
Speaker 2: You're not allowed to drop into a random. No. You
• 19:23
Speaker 2: can only drop into like a hometown connection. Yes.
• 19:27
Speaker 3: It needs to be someone that you know. And our
• 19:30
Speaker 3: basement girls, the girls who.
• 19:32
Speaker 2: Tell me about this basement. Everyone talks about these basement girls.
• 19:35
Speaker 2: We didn't have this. What are they doing down there?
• 19:37
Speaker 1: So the basement girls are the ones that are navigating
• 19:39
Speaker 1: the entire algorithmic system.
• 19:43
Speaker 3: And the vote, like the entire voting process.
• 19:46
Speaker 2: Do you think there's ever a time... Okay, and try
• 19:48
Speaker 2: to tell the truth.
• 19:49
  Speaker 3: No.
• 19:51
Speaker 2: Somebody in that basement is shoving a girl higher than
• 19:56
Speaker 2: the votes? Like, does hinky stuff ever go on in
• 19:59
  Speaker 2: that basement?
• 20:01
Speaker 3: It's so locked down by Panhellenic.
• 20:04
Speaker 2: But there's no Panhellenic rep in there. No, but it's
• 20:07
Speaker 2: all on a system and a computer. So it's... Right,
• 20:09
Speaker 2: but what would prevent... So say some girl, Jane Smith, is...
• 20:14
Speaker 2: Say you know she wants your house and she's like
• 20:17
Speaker 2: number 52 on the list. Can you ever like... Do
• 20:20
Speaker 2: you think those basement girls go... Just slide her up there?
• 20:24
Speaker 3: When I say it's so... And I like literally wish
• 20:27
Speaker 3: that could like... You could get in there like that.
• 20:30
  Speaker 2: It doesn't work.
• 20:31
Speaker 3: It's so mathematically calculated to where you can... How do
• 20:36
  Speaker 3: I explain this?
• 20:36
Speaker 1: You can look and see that this girl talked to
• 20:40
Speaker 1: two people. If she has three votes, you already know
• 20:43
Speaker 1: you're busted for that.
• 20:44
Speaker 3: And then boom, you can get fined. You can get
• 20:47
  Speaker 3: without it.
• 20:48
Speaker 2: The girls can get in trouble. Right.
• 20:49
Speaker 3: The girls can get in trouble for that.
• 20:50
Speaker 1: And it's like their entire job is to calculate and
• 20:54
Speaker 1: make sure that one PNM is talking to two girls.
• 20:57
Speaker 1: And by the end of the entire party, they know
• 20:59
Speaker 1: the number that they're going to hit on votes. And
• 21:02
Speaker 1: if that number is out of whack, You can't, you
• 21:05
  Speaker 1: can't do it.
• 21:05
Speaker 2: Here's what I'm going to say. And I'm going to
• 21:06
Speaker 2: just say this. The part that I don't like about
• 21:08
Speaker 2: the new system versus the old days is you in
• 21:13
Speaker 2: the old days, if you knew the person from home,
• 21:17
Speaker 2: you could vote on them. Even if you didn't talk
• 21:19
Speaker 2: to them that day, even if you didn't see them,
• 21:21
Speaker 2: you can vote on them because you know them and
• 21:23
Speaker 2: you know, to give them, I think we were one, three, five.
• 21:26
Speaker 2: One was like, five was thumbs up. Three was bring
• 21:30
Speaker 2: her back again. I'm not sure.
• 21:32
  Speaker 3: Right.
• 21:32
Speaker 2: This is what I remember. But say I knew someone
• 21:35
Speaker 2: from high school, I could just give them a five.
• 21:38
Speaker 2: So with us, it's like they only met two people.
• 21:41
Speaker 2: You could get like a hundred votes if the whole
• 21:43
  Speaker 2: house wanted you.
• 21:45
Speaker 3: For us, it's technically, it's supposed to be one through 10.
• 21:49
Speaker 3: And every- You've had.
• 21:50
Speaker 2: Two, three, four, five, or just one or 10?
• 21:52
Speaker 1: So I've learned with other houses that they can do one, two, three, four, five,
• 21:56
Speaker 1: whatever to 10. Our house, because we have such a
• 21:59
Speaker 1: high retention rate and because- If you want to say
• 22:02
Speaker 1: it's because we're a top house and every single girl
• 22:05
Speaker 1: that we want normally is always coming back, we either
• 22:07
  Speaker 1: vote them a zero or a 10.
• 22:09
Speaker 2: So for people listening, that means basically this house because
• 22:12
Speaker 2: it's a top house. Say they invite back 100 girls. Typically,
• 22:15
Speaker 2: all 100 will say yes to coming back to that house.
• 22:18
Speaker 2: But there are other houses that invite 100 girls, but
• 22:21
Speaker 2: only 30 come back. So that's why you guys can
• 22:24
Speaker 2: be a little bit more.
• 22:25
Speaker 3: We can be a little bit more selective. And it's
• 22:29
Speaker 3: kind of for us.
• 22:30
Speaker 1: Every single girl that gets our house back, they got
• 22:33
  Speaker 1: a 10 every single.
• 22:34
Speaker 3: Day from every single girl.
• 22:36
Speaker 2: That's why by prep night, you know that you'll take
• 22:38
  Speaker 2: any of them.
• 22:39
  Speaker 1: Right.
• 22:41
Speaker 2: Interesting. It's so like, wow. All right. So before we go,
• 22:47
Speaker 2: what else sort of happened this week? Like, are any
• 22:50
Speaker 2: of the boys ever calling from the fraternities and saying like, hey,
• 22:54
Speaker 2: this girl's great. Watch out for her. Or like, what
• 22:57
Speaker 2: do you think impacts the most? other than just the
• 23:00
Speaker 2: girl meeting the girl right is it a phone call
• 23:02
Speaker 2: from the boy is it a phone call from your
• 23:05
Speaker 2: friend from high school that knows like what would impact
• 23:09
Speaker 2: you sort of pushing a girl up the list or
• 23:12
Speaker 2: giving her a higher vote you.
• 23:14
  Speaker 1: Don't know if that's technically i can give a story
• 23:17
  Speaker 1: of when we're here for it yeah i i don't
• 23:19
Speaker 1: know if that's necessarily applicable i mean it's so um
• 23:24
Speaker 1: I just think nowadays recruitment has to be so on
• 23:27
Speaker 1: lockdown just because everything nowadays is considered bit promising. I mean,
• 23:31
Speaker 1: if I point on a girl, if I wink at
• 23:34
Speaker 1: a girl, Oh my gosh.
• 23:37
Speaker 3: Everything. Yeah. Don't, don't let them walk away with a cup.
• 23:40
  Speaker 3: If they, it's, It's a nightmare.
• 23:42
  Speaker 2: Crazy.
• 23:43
Speaker 1: But I can share that I remember from when I
• 23:47
  Speaker 1: did recruitment and.
• 23:49
Speaker 2: So you were the rushie.
• 23:50
Speaker 1: I was the rushie and I did recruitment later. I
• 23:52
Speaker 1: did recruitment as a sophomore. So I was walking into
• 23:54
Speaker 1: these houses and knowing a lot of the girls already.
• 23:57
Speaker 1: And that was definitely.
• 23:59
Speaker 3: a very different perspective because you kind of are already
• 24:01
Speaker 3: walking in and you know what the top houses are.
• 24:04
Speaker 1: You know what they're known for. Like, Pi Phi is
• 24:07
Speaker 1: known for being the very nice and sweet girls. Kappa
• 24:09
Speaker 1: is known for being very classy. AP is known for being, like,
• 24:13
Speaker 1: more the loud party people. It really depends on your house.
• 24:17
Speaker 1: So I remember coming in and I kind of knew
• 24:19
Speaker 1: what I wanted, basically. And I was going through it
• 24:23
Speaker 1: and everything was going well and I was getting all
• 24:26
Speaker 1: the houses that I wanted back and I was really
• 24:27
Speaker 1: happy about it. And there was a house that I
• 24:33
Speaker 1: had a really close hometown friend in and she would
• 24:36
Speaker 1: text me throughout the week.
• 24:38
Speaker 3: I hope you're doing really well. How is it going?
• 24:41
Speaker 1: And it kind of was, it was like, these are
• 24:44
Speaker 1: the houses that I'm getting back. And she would see
• 24:46
Speaker 1: me come back the next day and she would know.
• 24:48
Speaker 1: And like, I would get my list back and I
• 24:50
Speaker 1: would text her of like, are.
• 24:51
Speaker 2: You supposed to be texting her?
• 24:52
  Speaker 3: No, no. But I, but it's because it's like, let's
• 24:56
Speaker 3: I get it yeah the rules get so stupid that
• 24:58
Speaker 3: you're like let me just text him I would text
• 25:00
Speaker 3: him like I'm about to come to this house okay
• 25:02
Speaker 3: great I make it through philo and I'm about to
• 25:06
Speaker 3: go vote on the houses that I'm gonna put as
• 25:08
Speaker 3: my two because you go from six houses to two
• 25:10
Speaker 3: houses yeah that's a gnarly drop you have to.
• 25:11
Speaker 2: Cut a lot of people off yeah and for the
• 25:15
Speaker 2: rushes right because a lot you're going from six to
• 25:18
Speaker 2: two that that's the worst.
• 25:20
Speaker 1: Drop that's the worst drop and yeah it It's definitely daunting,
• 25:24
Speaker 1: especially when you have- You.
• 25:25
Speaker 2: Can go from having a great experience to like, oh no.
• 25:28
Speaker 1: Yeah, because I remember for me, I had two top houses.
• 25:32
Speaker 1: I had two mid houses. And then I had two
• 25:34
Speaker 1: like very, very bottom houses. And that's just simply because
• 25:38
Speaker 1: you're being really nice. And like you have to be
• 25:41
Speaker 1: nice to everyone or else it's considered dead fishing.
• 25:44
Speaker 2: Oh, I've heard about this dead fishing. We've talked about
• 25:46
Speaker 2: that before. I find that to be the dumbest thing
• 25:48
Speaker 2: I've ever heard in my life. That did not exist
• 25:50
Speaker 2: in my day. It should go away. It's so stupid.
• 25:53
Speaker 2: We'll do that. We'll talk about dead fishing again another day.
• 25:56
Speaker 2: I'm like horrified by that.
• 25:57
Speaker 3: But yeah, it's really horrible.
• 26:00
Speaker 2: When I learned about that, I said that can't be true.
• 26:03
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's awful. And just with my school- It's also
• 26:07
  Speaker 3: just disgusting.
• 26:09
Speaker 1: There was a house that would have 30 girls missing
• 26:11
Speaker 1: from a party because.
• 26:12
Speaker 3: They would choose to not show up.
• 26:13
Speaker 2: But then don't you get kicked out of Rush?
• 26:15
  Speaker 3: Yes.
• 26:16
Speaker 1: So that's what we were nervous about as our house is,
• 26:19
Speaker 1: If you guys are doing that, that's horrible.
• 26:21
Speaker 3: But guess what? That means you're not even going to
• 26:22
Speaker 3: get a house. You're not even going to get us back.
• 26:24
Speaker 2: I mean, first of all, who thinks that that's... I'm sorry.
• 26:28
Speaker 2: That is so Gen Z. It's just so Gen Z.
• 26:32
Speaker 3: Y'all need to get.
• 26:34
Speaker 2: Back to manners school, but whatever.
• 26:36
Speaker 1: I remember from my field day, I had like a
• 26:38
Speaker 1: range of houses from wherever you want to rank them.
• 26:41
Speaker 1: And so I remember kind of going into prep and
• 26:43
Speaker 1: I was like, oh gosh, like I really hope that
• 26:44
Speaker 1: I just get the top two houses that I wanted.
• 26:46
Speaker 1: But another impact that I had was I got a
• 26:49
Speaker 1: phone call from my roommate, a friend, who was also
• 26:54
  Speaker 1: doing recruitment.
• 26:54
Speaker 3: We were both doing recruitment as sophomores.
• 26:56
  Speaker 2: Okay.
• 26:56
Speaker 1: And she got a call from the same friend of
• 27:00
Speaker 1: hers in the house, in this house.
• 27:02
Speaker 2: That was your friend?
• 27:03
Speaker 3: I also had a friend in.
• 27:05
Speaker 2: It wasn't the same person, same house?
• 27:07
Speaker 3: No, same house, different person. Let's just use names. Yeah.
• 27:10
Speaker 3: So my friend Ashley was in this house.
• 27:13
  Speaker 2: D.G.
• 27:14
  Speaker 3: Pi-Fi. Pi-Fi.
• 27:15
  Speaker 2: Okay, fine.
• 27:16
Speaker 1: My friend Ashley was in this house, Pi-Fi. And then
• 27:19
Speaker 1: my other friend was doing recruitment as well with me.
• 27:23
  Speaker 2: Okay.
• 27:24
  Speaker 3: And she got.
• 27:25
Speaker 2: She also got a call from Pi-Fi.
• 27:26
Speaker 3: She also got a call from a girl, Lauren, in Pi-Fi.
• 27:29
Speaker 2: This is dirty rushing.
• 27:31
Speaker 3: This was like whole next level.
• 27:34
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 27:34
  Speaker 3: Horrible.
• 27:36
Speaker 1: And so Mary gets a call from Lauren. And Lauren says... Hey,
• 27:41
Speaker 1: I know that you didn't get Pi-Fi back. And as
• 27:43
Speaker 1: your friend, I would feel so guilty not telling you
• 27:46
Speaker 1: about this, but I think that you should know this.
• 27:49
Speaker 1: Already horrible thing to do. And my friend Mary is like,
• 27:53
  Speaker 1: And you.
• 27:53
Speaker 2: Don't even have your houses back yet?
• 27:54
Speaker 3: No, we don't even have our house. I hadn't even
• 27:56
  Speaker 3: voted yet.
• 27:56
Speaker 2: So you called in advance to say you're not getting Pi-Fi.
• 28:00
  Speaker 3: So yeah.
• 28:00
Speaker 1: So this Mary though, she already got dropped from Pi-Fi
• 28:04
Speaker 1: on Filo Day. So Lauren was just feeling guilty and
• 28:07
Speaker 1: felt the need to tell this to Mary. And she said,
• 28:10
Speaker 1: the reason that you got dropped was because our house
• 28:13
Speaker 1: does a voting system where after every single day, after
• 28:18
Speaker 1: every single party, we all gather into the chapter room
• 28:21
Speaker 1: together and we put on a slideshow of every single
• 28:24
Speaker 1: girl that came into the house today. And we do
• 28:27
Speaker 1: red light and green light. When green light comes on,
• 28:30
Speaker 1: you give them three positive adjectives. And then when red
• 28:33
Speaker 1: light comes on, you give them three negative adjectives.
• 28:35
Speaker 2: Okay, this is not how we did it, but it's
• 28:38
Speaker 2: closer to how we did it. We didn't do this
• 28:40
Speaker 2: red light, green light nonsense.
• 28:42
Speaker 1: Which to coming from other houses that are higher ranked
• 28:46
Speaker 1: than Pi Phi who don't do all this rigamarole and
• 28:50
Speaker 1: back and forth and slideshow nonsense, we simply just vote
• 28:54
Speaker 1: on the girls who we talk to. And this house
• 28:57
Speaker 1: was also known for being, you know, the nice girls
• 28:59
  Speaker 1: and the angels.
• 29:00
Speaker 3: And the, we're like, like, really? Like, not from this.
• 29:03
Speaker 2: I can go both ways on it, right? Because there
• 29:05
Speaker 2: is a theory that in the meeting, right? So say
• 29:07
Speaker 2: a girl was having a bad day and she didn't,
• 29:10
Speaker 2: have a great conversation that day, the rest of the
• 29:13
Speaker 2: girls in the house that know her can save her, right?
• 29:16
Speaker 2: They can be like, I know Katie. Do not vote
• 29:20
Speaker 2: her out. Bring her back. She is awesome.
• 29:24
  Speaker 3: You know, whatever.
• 29:25
Speaker 2: So it can go both ways. I think it's tough
• 29:27
Speaker 2: to not be able to have that conversation and just
• 29:30
Speaker 2: go strictly with this voting. But at the same time,
• 29:33
Speaker 2: it also could bop a girl out because, I don't know,
• 29:37
Speaker 2: maybe she kissed someone's boyfriend.
• 29:38
Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. It gets like... catty, things like that.
• 29:41
Speaker 1: So she tells Mary, she goes, well, so when your
• 29:45
Speaker 1: red light came on.
• 29:46
  Speaker 3: No.
• 29:47
Speaker 1: You were called bratty and spoiled and selfish by some
• 29:52
Speaker 1: girl that she went to high school with who Mary
• 29:54
Speaker 1: really wasn't even friends with and wasn't even the same
• 29:56
Speaker 1: friend group with and they were in completely separate grades.
• 29:59
Speaker 1: And she was like, that's ridiculous, but whatever. I mean,
• 30:01
Speaker 1: I already got dropped from 5'5, so it doesn't even matter.
• 30:04
Speaker 1: And she goes, but, and then Lauren then decides to
• 30:09
Speaker 1: scoop around and try to get the dirt on things.
• 30:11
Speaker 2: I've lost all the names here, but okay.
• 30:13
Speaker 1: Lauren, who's in the house, who's calling my friend, she says,
• 30:17
Speaker 1: I have to ask what happened between me, person, me
• 30:24
  Speaker 1: and Ashley.
• 30:24
Speaker 3: What happened between the two of them?
• 30:26
Speaker 1: And my friend was like, what are you talking about?
• 30:28
Speaker 1: They're totally fine. They've been best friends for years. They're
• 30:31
Speaker 1: hometown friends. They're very close. Like, what could you be
• 30:33
Speaker 1: talking about? And she goes, well, when apparently when I
• 30:36
Speaker 1: got on the screen for them to vote for me
• 30:38
  Speaker 1: after Filo.
• 30:39
Speaker 2: Your friend red lighted you?
• 30:41
Speaker 1: My, so my friend stood up sobbing, crying during my
• 30:46
Speaker 1: red light. And she was sobbing, crying so hard that
• 30:50
Speaker 1: she couldn't even get the words out.
• 30:52
Speaker 3: And everyone was crying. very about off.
• 30:55
Speaker 2: But saying oh that she was so emotional.
• 30:58
Speaker 3: So everyone was kind it gave the impression that i
• 31:02
Speaker 3: did something so horrible to her that when she stood
• 31:05
Speaker 3: up she was sobbing crying so hard that she couldn't
• 31:07
Speaker 3: even get the words out to say the three negative
• 31:09
Speaker 3: things about me so and then but the girl who's
• 31:12
Speaker 3: calling my friend about this to talk about me is
• 31:16
Speaker 3: Was like, don't say anything, though, because this is our
• 31:18
Speaker 3: voting and we can't have this out there. And if
• 31:21
Speaker 3: this comes out, I'm risked at being dropped.
• 31:23
Speaker 2: Did you talk to the friend again?
• 31:24
Speaker 3: Oh, I texted this because this is such a close
• 31:27
  Speaker 3: friend of mine.
• 31:28
Speaker 2: I was crying because I didn't want to say anything
• 31:30
  Speaker 2: bad about you.
• 31:31
  Speaker 3: She. Yeah, she.
• 31:32
Speaker 1: I texted her immediately and I was said, I know
• 31:37
Speaker 1: I'm not supposed to talk about this, but I would
• 31:39
Speaker 1: be lying to you if I told you I didn't
• 31:40
Speaker 1: know that you guys do this.
• 31:42
  Speaker 3: And.
• 31:43
Speaker 1: Again, crazy coming from someone who's a PNM during all
• 31:46
Speaker 1: of this. And I'm literally about to go into prep
• 31:48
Speaker 1: the next day. And I said, I know about this.
• 31:51
Speaker 1: I know that you apparently stood up sobbing, crying, and
• 31:54
Speaker 1: you couldn't even, I guess it was said that you
• 31:56
Speaker 1: couldn't even get the words out about me.
• 31:58
Speaker 3: What is this about?
• 31:59
Speaker 2: And what did she say?
• 32:00
Speaker 1: She basically gave me the rundown on how horrible that
• 32:06
Speaker 1: the process of what they do is and how toxic
• 32:08
  Speaker 1: it is.
• 32:09
Speaker 3: And at first I was kind of like, I don't
• 32:10
Speaker 3: really know what to believe.
• 32:12
Speaker 1: And then she ended up dropping the house actually and
• 32:14
Speaker 1: moving out because she said that it was just so
• 32:16
Speaker 1: horrible and toxic. But she said, you know, like as
• 32:18
Speaker 1: someone who like I know and like such a close
• 32:20
Speaker 1: friend from like for many years and like when you
• 32:22
Speaker 1: came up and like just seeing your photo like on
• 32:24
Speaker 1: the slideshow and just like seeing if people were just
• 32:26
Speaker 1: going to be, like, ammoed up just to say three
• 32:29
Speaker 1: negative words about you who also are girls that really
• 32:32
  Speaker 1: don't know you.
• 32:32
Speaker 3: Because mind you, like, these are girls who, like, what?
• 32:34
Speaker 2: Met you for seven minutes.
• 32:35
Speaker 1: Seven-minute conversations with, like, you don't know, actually, like, know them.
• 32:40
Speaker 1: And she then, my friend, went to standards and said,
• 32:44
Speaker 1: she is not going to put us back for pref
• 32:47
Speaker 1: and is going to vote us out because she knows
• 32:49
Speaker 1: how we were voting. So you guys might want to
• 32:52
Speaker 1: figure out who's going around spreading our... voting details and
• 32:56
Speaker 1: our voting secrets with PNMs, which is a huge problem.
• 33:01
Speaker 1: And when I look back at the situation now as
• 33:04
Speaker 1: someone in a house, you're not meant to share those
• 33:10
Speaker 1: voting things with someone who got dropped from the house
• 33:12
Speaker 1: just because what is that doing for them? It's kind
• 33:15
Speaker 1: of like my friend who she first shared with where
• 33:17
Speaker 1: she's like, well, I already got dropped, so it doesn't
• 33:18
  Speaker 1: really matter.
• 33:34
Speaker 2: Look, for people listening, this is the reason we do
• 33:37
Speaker 2: this podcast because it is so crazy. There's a lot
• 33:39
Speaker 2: of things about Rush that you're like, what happens? And
• 33:43
Speaker 2: I have conversations with moms all the time where their
• 33:46
Speaker 2: daughter's going through Rush, but they didn't. So they are
• 33:49
Speaker 2: just like, wait, what? What is happening? It does sound crazy.
• 33:56
Speaker 2: And then when you're in it, you're like, it's actually
• 33:58
Speaker 2: not that crazy. So like, I get it. I mean,
• 34:01
Speaker 2: all that sounds crazy. I get what you're saying, right?
• 34:03
Speaker 2: Because I understand what's happening. But I think someone listening
• 34:05
  Speaker 2: is like, huh?
• 34:07
  Speaker 3: Huh?
• 34:08
  Speaker 2: What?
• 34:08
  Speaker 3: Red light?
• 34:09
  Speaker 2: Green light?
• 34:09
  Speaker 3: Voting?
• 34:10
  Speaker 2: One? Ten?
• 34:11
  Speaker 3: What?
• 34:11
Speaker 2: So, all right. There's always so much more to talk about.
• 34:14
Speaker 2: That's why this podcast will go on and on and on.
• 34:16
Speaker 2: So to sum it up, this mystery girl here is
• 34:21
Speaker 2: in the middle of rush. It's very juicy. And do
• 34:24
Speaker 2: you feel like you guys got all the girls you wanted?
• 34:28
  Speaker 3: I do.
• 34:28
  Speaker 2: I mean, as a senior.
• 34:32
Speaker 1: I didn't talk to all of them, but from what
• 34:34
Speaker 1: I can remember and seeing the list and then going
• 34:36
Speaker 1: up to look up the girls' Instagrams so that I
• 34:39
Speaker 1: could connect the name to the face, I was kind
• 34:42
  Speaker 1: of like, wait.
• 34:42
Speaker 3: I think we slept a bit. Yeah, I think we
• 34:45
  Speaker 3: did it.
• 34:46
Speaker 2: And as a senior, how much interaction will you have
• 34:48
  Speaker 2: with these pledges?
• 34:52
Speaker 3: I mean, it really just depends. I don't think on
• 34:55
  Speaker 3: day-to-day things. No, I mean.
• 34:58
Speaker 1: that's their job to connect with the sophomores and who
• 35:00
Speaker 1: they're going to be living with.
• 35:02
Speaker 2: It's so interesting because one of my best friends truly
• 35:05
Speaker 2: closest friends was a senior when I was a freshman
• 35:08
Speaker 2: so I do think those friendships happen we were definitely
• 35:11
Speaker 2: good friends when we were in the sorority together and
• 35:14
Speaker 2: then 30 years later we're even closer now but I
• 35:18
Speaker 2: do think there are times when a a freshman and
• 35:21
Speaker 2: a senior become super tight.
• 35:22
Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, I would say like this was by
• 35:24
Speaker 1: far the most senior participation that we've had, which is.
• 35:27
Speaker 3: Really positive and really great. And like even to have
• 35:30
Speaker 3: seniors prepping freshmen is always good.
• 35:32
Speaker 2: The seniors were totally involved. And like, interestingly, even I
• 35:35
Speaker 2: have a friend from the sorority who's like eight years
• 35:37
Speaker 2: older than me, seven, let's see, no, six years older
• 35:41
Speaker 2: than me. And she's a great friend. Wasn't even in
• 35:43
Speaker 2: the house when I was there, she'd already graduated, but
• 35:45
Speaker 2: I think there's still that bond there. especially when you're
• 35:48
Speaker 2: in the same sorority at the same school. It's like,
• 35:51
Speaker 2: even if you're years apart, you kind of are instantly
• 35:54
Speaker 2: bonded by that. So anyway, I mean, look, we'll keep
• 35:57
Speaker 2: talking about it all. It's just never ending. There's so
• 36:01
Speaker 2: much juice to talk about.
• 36:02
  Speaker 3: It's crazy.
• 36:03
Speaker 1: You got to just go through recruitment and go through
• 36:06
Speaker 1: the chaos. And then you finally get the house that
• 36:10
Speaker 1: you wanted and things go back to normalcy.
• 36:12
Speaker 2: And look, I think it's interesting. I know, like I said,
• 36:14
Speaker 2: the girl that's going through rush at your school, I
• 36:17
Speaker 2: know what house she got. She won't find out till 530.
• 36:19
Speaker 2: I know she's going to be thrilled because I know
• 36:22
Speaker 2: what she put first. So there are those things where like,
• 36:26
Speaker 2: it's impossible to avoid. People are going to sort of
• 36:28
Speaker 2: know things. It's kind of amazing that it's kept as
• 36:31
Speaker 2: secretive as it is with how the world is right
• 36:34
Speaker 2: these days and social media and people with loose lips,
• 36:38
Speaker 2: that it even does become as much of a surprise
• 36:41
Speaker 2: as it is. And it is fun to like open
• 36:43
Speaker 2: that envelope and see the house and run over there. So,
• 36:46
Speaker 2: you know, yay to everybody going through Rush at your school.
• 36:49
Speaker 2: All best wishes to everyone going through Rush because it
• 36:52
Speaker 2: is gnarly. I mean, the parents, we need to do
• 36:54
Speaker 2: another episode where these parents, because they just go through hell.
• 36:57
Speaker 3: Yeah. That's the only person I talked to.
• 36:59
Speaker 2: I knew a dad. Last night was texting a mom.
• 37:02
  Speaker 2: I mean, a dad texting a mom. I know how
• 37:05
  Speaker 2: stressful this is.
• 37:07
Speaker 3: Blah, blah, blah. Like a dad. That's the only person
• 37:11
Speaker 3: a PNM can actually talk to.
• 37:12
Speaker 1: You can't talk to your friends about what you're getting
• 37:15
Speaker 1: back or what houses you liked.
• 37:16
Speaker 2: They really call the parents.
• 37:18
Speaker 1: You just, I talked to my mom after every single
• 37:20
Speaker 1: party so much so that my mom's best friend also
• 37:23
Speaker 1: had a daughter that was doing recruitment at the same
• 37:25
Speaker 1: time as me at the same school and And they
• 37:27
Speaker 1: were literally at dinner together one night and they were
• 37:29
Speaker 1: both just getting calls from us.
• 37:31
Speaker 2: I'll definitely go out with the two girls I know
• 37:34
Speaker 2: because they don't have anyone else to talk to and
• 37:35
Speaker 2: their mom didn't go through rush. So like they need
• 37:39
Speaker 2: to have like a aunt figure or a, you know,
• 37:42
Speaker 2: figure that knows what they're going through. So anyway, we'll
• 37:46
Speaker 2: keep getting dirty. Talk to you guys soon.
