- 0:04Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:07Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:11Speaker 1: Sophie Torber and coming up on today's show, we dive
- 0:14Speaker 1: deep into the controversy surrounding the TikTok Awards. From the
- 0:18Speaker 1: red carpet racism brow to Tammy Hembrough's disappearance and the
- 0:22Speaker 1: Wiggles drug drama. Let's get straight into it.
- 0:26Speaker 2: A number of black creators have bravely called out the
- 0:28Speaker 2: racism they experienced at the TikTok Awards. Disturbing vision of
- 0:32Speaker 2: a photographer barring black creators from entering the red carpet
- 0:36Speaker 2: has gone viral.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Sophie, can you tell us more? Yeah. Well, the first
- 0:40Speaker 1: content creator to speak out against this racism was Niel.
- 0:43Speaker 1: So she has over 417,000 followers on TikTok and was
- 0:48Speaker 1: invited by the platform to attend the awards. So she
- 0:52Speaker 1: explained that this is the third time that she has
- 0:54Speaker 1: attended the TikTok awards and that there are two red
- 0:57Speaker 1: carpets set up. So There's one red carpet where content
- 1:00Speaker 1: creators can go and take their own photos. And there
- 1:03Speaker 1: is another red carpet that's basically manned by the media.
- 1:06Speaker 1: So there are journalists there conducting interviews as well as
- 1:10Speaker 1: mainstream photographers. Now, she said in the past she has
- 1:13Speaker 1: been quite reluctant to put herself forward to be interviewed.
- 1:16Speaker 1: But this year she wanted to push herself as quite often.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Black creators aren't represented in the media. Now, when Niel
- 1:24Speaker 1: got to the front of the media red carpet, she
- 1:27Speaker 1: said a staff member quizzed her on whether she was
- 1:30Speaker 1: a nominee or a presenter. And she explained that she
- 1:34Speaker 1: was a content creator and the staff member reiterated that
- 1:38Speaker 1: they only wanted to interview nominees and presenters. Now, this
- 1:42Speaker 1: is despite the fact that Niel said that she saw
- 1:45Speaker 1: mutual friends being interviewed who didn't fit either of those criteria.
- 1:49Speaker 1: So the staff member proceeded to tell Niel that if
- 1:52Speaker 1: she wanted to get her photo taken, she could head
- 1:55Speaker 1: over to where the photographers were on the media red carpet. Now,
- 2:00Speaker 1: those photographers were from TikTok and also mainstream media publications.
- 2:05Speaker 1: So Niel and her friend Maxie decided to line up.
- 2:08Speaker 1: But when they reached the front of the line, they
- 2:11Speaker 1: were approached rather aggressively by a photographer employed by TikTok. Now,
- 2:17Speaker 1: Niel has proof of the exchange because she had already
- 2:20Speaker 1: hit record on her phone so that her friend could
- 2:23Speaker 1: film behind the scenes of her getting her photo taken
- 2:25Speaker 1: on the red carpet. Let's have a listen to what
- 2:28Speaker 1: the photographer said to her.
- 2:54Speaker 3: My blood is absolutely boiling from listening to that.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I mean, aside from the absolutely disgusting way that he
- 2:58Speaker 1: treated those two creators.
- 3:21Speaker 2: The fact that this guy is employed by TikTok and
- 3:24Speaker 2: he's working at the TikTok Awards and he's acting like
- 3:27Speaker 2: that when there are so many people there filming. I mean,
- 3:29Speaker 2: this is their job to capture content. Did he not
- 3:32Speaker 2: think that potentially his behavior could get caught out? I mean,
- 3:35Speaker 2: even if they didn't capture that footage live, all of
- 3:38Speaker 2: these creators are going to talk about their experience at
- 3:40Speaker 2: the event.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. I mean, he spoke to them in such
- 3:44Speaker 1: a denigrating way. The tone was appalling. It was as
- 3:49Speaker 1: though they were a piece of dirt on his shoe
- 3:51Speaker 1: and he just sort of shooed them away. It was
- 3:54Speaker 1: absolutely revolting. I mean, this is an employee of TikTok saying,
- 3:58Speaker 1: we don't need your photo. So he's essentially saying TikTok Australia.
- 4:02Speaker 1: does not need your photo. And also mocking them. Like,
- 4:05Speaker 1: what did you think?
- 4:06Speaker 2: Why would you come up here? Like, what a silly
- 4:07Speaker 2: idea to think that we would want to use your photo.
- 4:10Speaker 2: It would be incredibly embarrassing, particularly said in front of
- 4:13Speaker 2: all of these other creators. Well, you could see Adam
- 4:16Speaker 2: Hyde in the vision. He was getting his photo taken.
- 4:19Speaker 2: It was a little bit awkward because people have criticized
- 4:21Speaker 2: him for not getting involved and speaking.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Up for the women. It is unclear whether he could
- 4:26Speaker 1: actually hear what was going on. I'd like to give
- 4:29Speaker 1: him the benefit of the doubt.
- 4:30Speaker 2: I mean, he was quite close. But then again, Indy
- 4:33Speaker 2: Clinton spoke about her red carpet experience. We are going
- 4:36Speaker 2: to go into that later. And she said it was
- 4:38Speaker 2: just very chaotic. There was so much screaming and yelling
- 4:40Speaker 2: going on.
- 4:41Speaker 1: It was a very loud environment. I like to think
- 4:43Speaker 1: that if he had heard what was going on, he
- 4:45Speaker 1: would have said something. Now, Niel uploaded this video to
- 4:49Speaker 1: TikTok and it has quickly attracted 1.6 million views. Now,
- 4:55Speaker 1: in the video, she went on to question why TikTok
- 4:58Speaker 1: was inviting creators if this is simply a celebrity event
- 5:02Speaker 1: and that if they're inviting creators to be seat fillers,
- 5:05Speaker 1: then at least let them know they're being invited as
- 5:08Speaker 1: audience members and not creators. And I think that that
- 5:11Speaker 1: is such a good point because I have seen so
- 5:13Speaker 1: many smaller creators being really excited to get invited to
- 5:17Speaker 1: the awards. They've then had to fund their own flights there,
- 5:20Speaker 1: their own hair, makeup, accommodation.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Hmm.
- 5:23Speaker 1: And then they've arrived at the awards and thought, oh, actually,
- 5:26Speaker 1: there's 8,000 other creators here. I'm not so special. I
- 5:30Speaker 1: just feel like a bit of a seat filler.
- 5:32Speaker 2: I was pretty shocked because some of the vision that
- 5:35Speaker 2: was coming from the awards filmed by creators, like I
- 5:37Speaker 2: follow Ames on TikTok, and she is a big creator.
- 5:40Speaker 2: She's got over a million followers. And she was up
- 5:42Speaker 2: in the nosebleeds. And I was like, hang on, what?
- 5:44Speaker 1: It's very confusing who worked out the seating plan. Now,
- 5:47Speaker 1: getting back to Niel's video, So she also included a
- 5:52Speaker 1: second video of an exchange with this photographer. So when
- 5:55Speaker 1: the photographer noticed that Niel was filming, he came back
- 6:00Speaker 1: over to try and shift the blame onto the press photographers.
- 6:04Speaker 1: So he said that he wasn't trying to be nasty.
- 6:07Speaker 1: And it was actually the Daily Mail photographers who were
- 6:10Speaker 1: the bad guys and would rip everyone's heads off and
- 6:13Speaker 1: tell them to get out of the way if they
- 6:15Speaker 1: stepped onto the red carpet.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Isn't that interesting?
- 6:17Speaker 1: Once he realized that they were filming, I mean, as
- 6:19Speaker 1: if they wouldn't be filming. Well, his tone totally changed,
- 6:22Speaker 1: didn't it? Yeah.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Now, Neil then went on to confirm that this was
- 6:26Speaker 2: not an isolated incident and unfortunately happened to multiple black creators.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Let's take a listen to what she said.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Guess what, guys? That experience did not only happen to me,
- 6:37Speaker 4: It did not only happen to Maxie, but Zoe, you know,
- 6:42Speaker 4: the people I was with, it did not only happen
- 6:44Speaker 4: to them. It also happened to multiple Black creators. And
- 6:51Speaker 4: the fact that they were saying that this wall is
- 6:55Speaker 4: for nominees and press only, and this is how they
- 7:00Speaker 4: treated their only Black nominee.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Now, the creator that she is referencing is Florence Batio,
- 7:06Speaker 1: who has over 1.1 million followers on TikTok and who
- 7:10Speaker 1: was nominated for Beauty and Fashion Creator of the Year. Now,
- 7:14Speaker 1: despite being a nominee, Florence alleges that after she lined
- 7:18Speaker 1: up to walk the media red carpet, a photographer refused
- 7:22Speaker 1: to take photos of her and told her to get off. What?
- 7:26Speaker 1: Now in the video, which has attracted 1 million views,
- 7:30Speaker 1: Florence says she was still trying to process the experience.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Let's take a listen to what she said.
- 7:36Speaker 3: So basically there was like media, there was like a
- 7:40Speaker 3: red carpet, I mean pink carpet, red carpet or whatever.
- 7:43Speaker 3: And me and this other creator, she's also a person
- 7:47Speaker 3: of color. We went on the carpet to get our
- 7:50Speaker 3: photos taken because as we should, we got nominated for
- 7:54Speaker 3: the Haley Award. We went on, and I kid you not,
- 7:57Speaker 3: there was, like, I think four photographers. And there was
- 8:00Speaker 3: this photographer that was wearing a blue cap. And I.
- 8:04Speaker 5: Got on.
- 8:06Speaker 3: And literally, he didn't take a photo. And then how
- 8:09Speaker 3: it's supposed to work is, like, we're all supposed to, like,
- 8:12Speaker 3: just kind of rotate. Like, so you get your photos taken,
- 8:14Speaker 3: then you talk to media, and then you get off
- 8:16Speaker 3: the carpet. But, like, this guy literally didn't take any photos.
- 8:21Speaker 3: And then he was telling me to get off. was
- 8:23Speaker 3: telling me to get off. And I was like, but
- 8:26Speaker 3: I thought I was supposed to go in and now
- 8:28Speaker 3: do the media, like do interviews. And obviously, I don't
- 8:32Speaker 3: know what's going on. So I just got off. But
- 8:34Speaker 3: it was just so embarrassing because I'm like, what do
- 8:37Speaker 3: you mean you didn't take any photos? And you literally
- 8:40Speaker 3: just shuffled me off stage. And then I've seen him
- 8:44Speaker 3: take lots of photos of other people.
- 8:46Speaker 5: And then the other content.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Creator, she literally, she went and told I think she
- 8:52Speaker 3: only told one of the workers at TikTok. And then
- 8:55Speaker 3: I think they only told him. So then he was
- 8:59Speaker 3: literally marching at me.
- 9:01Speaker 2: This is absolutely disgusting. I cannot believe that this is happening.
- 9:05Speaker 1: This is someone who has been nominated for an award.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Why doesn't TikTok need their photos? Can they answer us that?
- 9:13Speaker 2: I mean, it's a pattern of behaviour. You can't deny
- 9:15Speaker 2: that this is racism.
- 9:16Speaker 1: The thing that makes me so sad is hearing how
- 9:19Speaker 1: embarrassed Florence was by this incident. I mean, this is
- 9:22Speaker 1: a moment where you're supposed to stand tall and proud
- 9:24Speaker 1: about what you have achieved. I mean, she was nominated
- 9:27Speaker 1: for Beauty and Fashion Creator of the Year. That should
- 9:30Speaker 1: be a really proud and special moment. But instead, it's
- 9:32Speaker 1: been marred by this experience.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Looking at this, there are two main issues going on.
- 9:36Speaker 2: There's obviously the abhorrent racism. And then there is a
- 9:39Speaker 2: breakdown in communication. So if the plan was for only
- 9:43Speaker 2: nominees to be photographed by media on the red carpet,
- 9:46Speaker 2: I mean, Florence has come out and said, well, she
- 9:48Speaker 2: was a nominee and she was treated like shit. That's
- 9:50Speaker 2: the racism side there. But if that was the plan,
- 9:53Speaker 2: that only nominees were going to get photographed, they needed
- 9:55Speaker 2: to communicate that to everyone that was attending the event.
- 9:57Speaker 2: This invite needed to have a better rundown of what
- 10:00Speaker 2: was going on. They've gone and made these people feel
- 10:02Speaker 2: special saying, oh my God, you have been selected to
- 10:05Speaker 2: attend the TikTok awards, shell out your money to get flights, accommodation,
- 10:09Speaker 2: your makeup and hair done. And then We're going to
- 10:12Speaker 2: treat you like crap. You're going to be amongst 8,000
- 10:15Speaker 2: other people and we're going to sit you in the
- 10:17Speaker 2: nosebleeds and then actually abuse you and be racist.
- 10:21Speaker 1: What is going on? I mean, how dare a creator
- 10:24Speaker 1: want to walk on the red carpet and get their
- 10:25Speaker 1: photo taken? Like, how dare they? The tone of these
- 10:29Speaker 1: photographers is just not it. And as someone who has
- 10:32Speaker 1: worked in the media before, yes, photographers can be very grumpy.
- 10:35Speaker 1: But why are you treating invited guests like this? Like,
- 10:38Speaker 1: it's absolutely insane.
- 10:40Speaker 2: There is no excuse for racism. I mean, these photographers
- 10:43Speaker 2: should be fired. They should be. And the TikTok staff member.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Now, the awards have been an absolute PR nightmare for
- 10:49Speaker 1: TikTok because creators are now calling to boycott them and
- 10:53Speaker 1: declaring that they won't be returning next year. There's now
- 10:55Speaker 1: quite a lot of creators who are making videos talking
- 10:59Speaker 1: about the shame they feel for attending the awards. Let's
- 11:02Speaker 1: have a listen to what Adelaide creator Matilda Norton said.
- 11:05Speaker 6: Okay does anyone else have post-traumatic tiktok awards show shame
- 11:10Speaker 6: p-t-t-a-s-s because i do genuinely feel so much shame and
- 11:18Speaker 6: embarrassment that i went and i just feel like one
- 11:22Speaker 6: like it's so embarrassing guys.
- 11:26Speaker 2: I mean, I don't think Matilda Norton should feel any shame.
- 11:28Speaker 2: I think the event organizers should be feeling shame and
- 11:31Speaker 2: the photographers. I mean, those are the people at fault here.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Well, I think the reason she's talking about feeling this
- 11:36Speaker 1: shame is because as author and TikTok creator Kate Forster
- 11:41Speaker 1: explained so eloquently, is that when you attend an event
- 11:44Speaker 1: these days, Unfortunately, that is you aligning your brand with
- 11:48Speaker 1: the other brand. So you really have to be careful
- 11:51Speaker 1: about which events you're attending and which brands you're putting
- 11:54Speaker 1: your support behind. Obviously, in this case, the racism happened
- 11:57Speaker 1: during the event. This is a very unexpected thing to happen.
- 12:01Speaker 1: So I wouldn't blame any creators who attended. Obviously, next year,
- 12:04Speaker 1: perhaps if they choose to attend, that's when we can
- 12:07Speaker 1: look a little bit deeper into this.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. I mean, you can only make that decision
- 12:11Speaker 2: based on what's happened prior to you accepting the invite.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Now on the topic of Kate, she has put out
- 12:18Speaker 1: a series of videos reacting to the TikTok awards. Now
- 12:22Speaker 1: she didn't attend the event, but she has spoken out
- 12:25Speaker 1: about the racism and also the fact that some creators
- 12:29Speaker 1: were put in rooms alongside their own stalkers. Let's have
- 12:33Speaker 1: a listen to what she said.
- 12:35Speaker 7: Creators reported racism. It was an unsafe space. People were
- 12:39Speaker 7: put in rooms with their own stalkers, people who have
- 12:44Speaker 7: AVOs on them and they were in the same room.
- 12:47Speaker 7: People being harassed, why did you block me, blah, blah, blah.
- 12:50Speaker 7: Disabled people, room filled with vape smoke, like fucking insane.
- 12:54Speaker 7: No water for two hours. This isn't a vibe issue,
- 12:58Speaker 7: it's a values issue. It's really important you understand that.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Very interested in Kate's allegations around content creators being put
- 13:05Speaker 2: in rooms with their own stalkers. Is that in relation
- 13:10Speaker 2: to paparazzi who have stalked them or?
- 13:13Speaker 1: No, I just believe it's other creators who have beef
- 13:16Speaker 1: with other creators. So there's potential falling outs, but It's
- 13:19Speaker 1: not very good planning by TikTok. Surely they should be
- 13:22Speaker 1: across the TikTok drama.
- 13:23Speaker 2: I mean, the fact that they invited 8,000 creators, they
- 13:25Speaker 2: probably couldn't keep across all of the beef and who
- 13:27Speaker 2: doesn't like who. Now, in terms of Niel's comments regarding
- 13:31Speaker 2: content creators essentially being invited to fill seats, this sentiment
- 13:36Speaker 2: was backed up by a content creator called Dr.
- 13:38Speaker 4: Michael.
- 13:39Speaker 2: So as the name suggests, he works full-time as a
- 13:42Speaker 2: doctor in the ED and has amassed a huge following
- 13:46Speaker 2: of over half a million people for sharing medical tips
- 13:48Speaker 2: and debunking wellness myths. Now, after attending the awards, Dr.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Michael uploaded a video with the caption, if you didn't
- 13:55Speaker 2: get an invite to the TikTok awards, you dodged a bullet.
- 13:58Speaker 2: So in the three-minute call-out video, he labeled the awards
- 14:01Speaker 2: night as a shambles.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Let's take a listen.
- 14:04Speaker 8: What an absolute shambles. I've never felt more Scottish than
- 14:11Speaker 8: I did last night because Scottish people have this bullshit
- 14:14Speaker 8: radar that goes off whenever they smell that something's not
- 14:17Speaker 8: quite right and as soon as I walked in my
- 14:21Speaker 8: bullshit radar was going beep beep beep Do not be
- 14:24Speaker 8: fooled by the polished look on the TV. It was
- 14:29Speaker 8: a mess, a real mess. It was like sardines in
- 14:33Speaker 8: a can. And on the TV, yeah, the red carpet
- 14:36Speaker 8: looks fantastic. Yes, go and get your picture taken. Oh,
- 14:40Speaker 8: everybody's looking great. No, there was 8,000 people and there
- 14:43Speaker 8: was two tiny bits of red carpet that were about
- 14:45Speaker 8: three metres long. There was people waiting for two hours
- 14:48Speaker 8: just to get a picture taken. It was people waiting
- 14:50Speaker 8: hours for other stuff with fancy cameras that were moving
- 14:53Speaker 8: around and all that kind of shit.
- 14:54Speaker 1: It was bollocks.
- 14:55Speaker 2: One of my favorite content creators, Courtney Mangan, she is
- 14:58Speaker 2: a friend of the show. She attended the TikTok Awards
- 15:00Speaker 2: as a plus one. And she spoke about having to
- 15:04Speaker 2: wait two hours on the red carpet to get, you know,
- 15:06Speaker 2: that slow-mo glam vision. And I was like, oh, it
- 15:09Speaker 2: must have just been in that sort of portion. Like,
- 15:11Speaker 2: you know, there's technology involved to capture that shot. It's
- 15:14Speaker 2: crazy to think that the whole red carpet area was
- 15:16Speaker 2: actually congested for hours.
- 15:17Speaker 1: I mean, if there's anyone who would wait two hours
- 15:19Speaker 1: for a photo, it is an influencer. But it does
- 15:21Speaker 1: seem a bit ridiculous.
- 15:23Speaker 4: Dr.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Michael said that the awards night was so busy that
- 15:26Speaker 1: it actually felt like he was in an airport. In fact,
- 15:28Speaker 1: he said he would have rather been in an airport.
- 15:30Speaker 1: And he said that it was in stark contrast to
- 15:32Speaker 1: the event two years prior, which he said was much
- 15:35Speaker 1: smaller and more intimate. He said it was actually a
- 15:38Speaker 1: place where creators could mingle and connect. Now, on top
- 15:41Speaker 1: of the traffic jams at the picture walls, Dr. Michael
- 15:44Speaker 1: said that guests were also forced to pay their own way.
- 15:48Speaker 1: So at the previous events that he's attended, he said
- 15:51Speaker 1: they put on free food and free drink, But this
- 15:53Speaker 1: time around, there was none of that. And he complained
- 15:56Speaker 1: that he was slugged $ 28 for a drink.
- 15:59Speaker 2: See, when I was watching Courtney's content from the TikTok Awards,
- 16:01Speaker 2: I saw that her and her friend bought like big
- 16:04Speaker 2: bags of chips to take in. And they were kind of,
- 16:06Speaker 2: you know, in the nosebleed area. And I was like, oh,
- 16:08Speaker 2: maybe that's because, you know, the content creator she went with,
- 16:11Speaker 2: I wasn't familiar with her.
- 16:12Speaker 1: She's a Taylor Swift content creator.
- 16:14Speaker 2: I was like, oh, maybe they put the like smaller
- 16:16Speaker 2: time content creators, you know, higher up. But then when
- 16:18Speaker 2: I saw, as I referenced earlier, AIMS up higher, I
- 16:21Speaker 2: was like, hang on, what's going on? Like, it doesn't
- 16:23Speaker 2: make any sense. You can't invite people as guests to
- 16:26Speaker 2: an awards night and then ask them to pay for
- 16:28Speaker 2: the food.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Well, as Dr. Michael said, as if TikTok couldn't get
- 16:32Speaker 1: a sponsor, a food or drink sponsor, like surely someone
- 16:35Speaker 1: would have been happy with the amount of people who
- 16:37Speaker 1: are creating content around this to put their food or
- 16:40Speaker 1: drink brand forward.
- 16:41Speaker 2: It's interesting because the award night was held at the
- 16:44Speaker 2: ICC Sydney Theatre, which only last week was renamed TikTok
- 16:49Speaker 2: Entertainment Centre. So it makes sense that they decided in
- 16:54Speaker 2: order to show off this new venue that they've got
- 16:56Speaker 2: naming rights to, that they wanted to invite a lot
- 16:59Speaker 2: of people, use the theatre at its greatest, and also
- 17:03Speaker 2: just go, okay, well, everyone can buy food and drink
- 17:06Speaker 2: from the vendors at the theatre. But I mean, that
- 17:08Speaker 2: has completely backfired.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Yeah, well, underneath Dr. Michael's video, there were quite a
- 17:13Speaker 1: number of people who shared their disgust in creators having
- 17:16Speaker 1: to pay for their own food. One said, it's a
- 17:19Speaker 1: bit bizarre to have an Australian version of these awards
- 17:22Speaker 1: when the platform doesn't even pay Australian creators. While another said,
- 17:26Speaker 1: I can't fathom not even getting a free drink, especially
- 17:29Speaker 1: in a country that doesn't pay its creators a cent. Now,
- 17:32Speaker 1: there were a couple of followers who asked Dr. Michael,
- 17:35Speaker 1: why are there so many creators talking up the event
- 17:37Speaker 1: and saying how well run it was and that they
- 17:39Speaker 1: loved it? And he pointed out that it's basically so
- 17:43Speaker 1: that they can secure themselves an invite next year. I mean,
- 17:46Speaker 1: Brittany Saunders found herself off the guest list this year
- 17:49Speaker 1: after she gave her honest feedback on last year's award.
- 17:53Speaker 1: It's not exactly surprising that some creators are trying to
- 17:56Speaker 1: sing TikTok's praises and they're not wanting to ruffle any feathers.
- 18:00Speaker 2: I mean, Brittany Saunders is probably counting her lucky stars
- 18:02Speaker 2: that she didn't go to that.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Exactly. It was a blessing in disguise. Now, Frankie Evans,
- 18:08Speaker 1: who is a micro-influencer with 32,000 followers on TikTok, agreed
- 18:13Speaker 1: with Dr. Michael's sentiment.
- 18:15Speaker 9: TikTok Awards, couple of impressions might get me in trouble.
- 18:19Speaker 9: Last night I re-attended my year 10 formal. I feel
- 18:22Speaker 9: like it was quite a tacky event. The hosts started with,
- 18:28Speaker 9: who's done a shit tonight? Let's give a round of applause.
- 18:31Speaker 8: For the toilets.
- 18:32Speaker 9: Creators and influencers were vaping inside. The whole room was
- 18:37Speaker 9: so foggy because of the vape. Like so, so foggy.
- 18:41Speaker 10: And I just thought that.
- 18:41Speaker 9: Was extremely disrespectful. And security spent all night yelling at
- 18:45Speaker 9: girls because everyone's dresses kept getting caught.
- 18:47Speaker 1: In the escalators.
- 18:48Speaker 9: I think it was a very, very hard crowd to please.
- 18:51Speaker 9: No one laughed at anything. No one was really that
- 18:55Speaker 9: happy for people.
- 18:56Speaker 1: I love this event being referred to as a year
- 18:58Speaker 1: 10 formal. I feel like that is the best description.
- 19:01Speaker 2: I just had a flashback to our year 11 formal.
- 19:04Speaker 2: We didn't have one in year 10. The year 11
- 19:06Speaker 2: was our first one. And yeah, I think it sounds
- 19:09Speaker 2: like this night it was a fucking shit show. I
- 19:11Speaker 2: remember a guy came with a cane, like a walking stick,
- 19:14Speaker 2: which had I think pills all inside.
- 19:16Speaker 1: So that gives you an idea of the event that
- 19:18Speaker 1: was attended. I feel like this could have been happening
- 19:21Speaker 1: at the TikTok awards as well. Now, Frankie confirmed that
- 19:24Speaker 1: creators did have to buy their own drink, as Dr.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Michael said. And she said it was kind of good
- 19:29Speaker 1: because it brought influencers back down to earth. I wonder
- 19:33Speaker 1: if maybe TikTok also didn't want influencers getting too drunk.
- 19:37Speaker 2: No, I think it's a cheap thing. I don't think
- 19:39Speaker 2: that they would have cared about that.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Frankie also said that the crowd was very hard to
- 19:44Speaker 1: please and that no one laughed at any of the jokes.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Probably because they weren't drinking. Yeah, they were all hungry.
- 19:49Speaker 1: They were hangry. She also said that tall poppy syndrome
- 19:51Speaker 1: in Australia is so real. So that's a bit of
- 19:53Speaker 1: a different side to the event. Now, another content creator
- 19:56Speaker 1: to share their thoughts on the awards was for Darn.
- 19:59Speaker 2: So she is a And she's known for sharing her.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Day on a plate. I quite enjoy her content.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I do as well. Now, this is what she
- 20:10Speaker 2: had to say about the bar situation.
- 20:12Speaker 5: Okay, so I've come out for the break. It's 20
- 20:14Speaker 5: past seven and the bar is closed.
- 20:16Speaker 1: It's closed.
- 20:16Speaker 5: You're allowed to have a drink. You're allowed to have
- 20:17Speaker 5: a soft drink. You can't have any water. You can't
- 20:19Speaker 5: have any drinks whatsoever because they want you to watch
- 20:21Speaker 5: the show. As I said, I just popped out to
- 20:23Speaker 5: go to the ladies and I would like a drink,
- 20:24Speaker 5: but you can't have a drink because the bar's closed
- 20:26Speaker 5: until eight o'clock.
- 20:27Speaker 2: She also said this about the media wall line.
- 20:31Speaker 5: This is the money shot. To get the money shot,
- 20:33Speaker 5: you've got to fucking line, right? We're not lining up.
- 20:36Speaker 5: I'm sorry. We're not lining up. My sister says we
- 20:39Speaker 5: should line up. I don't care that much to line up.
- 20:41Speaker 5: I don't need the photo. I don't want to line up.
- 20:43Speaker 5: We're not lining up.
- 20:44Speaker 1: I love the fact that she just said, fuck this.
- 20:47Speaker 1: I'm above this. I'm not lining up for a photo. Yeah,
- 20:50Speaker 1: I respect that.
- 20:51Speaker 2: But again, I feel for the creators who, you know,
- 20:55Speaker 2: they've flown over. They've had to pay for that. They've
- 20:57Speaker 2: had to pay for a makeup artist. They paid for
- 20:58Speaker 2: their hair to get done. They paid for a new gown.
- 21:01Speaker 2: You want to get a shot.
- 21:02Speaker 1: I mean, to be fair, if I had been invited
- 21:04Speaker 1: to the TikTok Awards, I'd want to get on the
- 21:05Speaker 1: red carpet and have my photo taken. I mean, really,
- 21:08Speaker 1: that's what you're there for. You're there to be seen.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Indie Clinton has been forced to defend her actions on
- 21:14Speaker 1: the TikTok Awards red carpet after a video of her
- 21:18Speaker 1: posing for photos went viral. At the time of recording,
- 21:21Speaker 1: the video has amassed over 1.2 million views and attracted
- 21:26Speaker 1: a lot of commentary. For those who haven't seen the clip, Kate,
- 21:29Speaker 1: can you explain it?
- 21:30Speaker 2: I'll do my best considering this is an audio format.
- 21:33Speaker 2: So Indy's husband, Ben, is the first to walk into
- 21:37Speaker 2: shot and he stands in front of the media wall
- 21:39Speaker 2: and Indy kind of sweeps in behind him.
- 21:42Speaker 1: It's almost like she's floating.
- 21:44Speaker 2: She glided in so quickly. She then rushed over so
- 21:48Speaker 2: she could pose on what I'm guessing is her preferred
- 21:50Speaker 2: side to be photographed on.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I get that. Yeah, I get it as well.
- 21:54Speaker 2: She then kind of cozied up to Ben for a
- 21:55Speaker 2: split second before rushing off in another direction. She looked
- 21:59Speaker 2: very frantic and she was sort of twisting and readjusting herself.
- 22:02Speaker 2: I mean, she was wearing an absolutely stunning gown designed
- 22:06Speaker 2: by Effie Katz. It had a very plunging neckline. So
- 22:09Speaker 2: she was obviously trying not to have a wardrobe malfunction.
- 22:12Speaker 1: The way she was floating around, it almost reminded me
- 22:15Speaker 1: of the Tooth Fairy character that she's been playing for
- 22:17Speaker 1: her kids, I think. Is it called Opal, the Tooth Fairy?
- 22:19Speaker 1: I can't remember its name, but it was.
- 22:21Speaker 10: Like, ooh.
- 22:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Well, she ended up standing long enough with Ben for
- 22:26Speaker 2: photos to be taken before he exited the shot for
- 22:28Speaker 2: her individual photos. And again, Indy looked really frazzled as
- 22:33Speaker 2: the photographers yelled things out at her. She then said,
- 22:36Speaker 2: oh my God, you all want me. What the hell?
- 22:39Speaker 1: It's a bit in contrast to the experience of some
- 22:41Speaker 1: other creators that we've just documented have experienced. Very interesting.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Now, the comments on this video have been switched off
- 22:48Speaker 2: because they got very defamatory. Before the comments were turned off,
- 22:53Speaker 2: Indie shared a video reply to a comment that read,
- 22:56Speaker 2: you literally look cracked out on the carpet at the
- 22:58Speaker 2: TikTok awards girl. Let's take a listen to what Indie said.
- 23:03Speaker 10: I usually address things like this, but I thought I'm
- 23:05Speaker 10: going to stand up for myself because I hate when
- 23:07Speaker 10: people spread untrue things about me. There's a video going
- 23:10Speaker 10: around of me on the red carpet at the TikTok
- 23:12Speaker 10: Awards that is going viral because of the way I
- 23:14Speaker 10: was acting, I guess. Just to give you a little
- 23:16Speaker 10: sprinkle of context, I have been working every day, every
- 23:19Speaker 10: night for the last two weeks. So I'm extremely tired,
- 23:22Speaker 10: like overwhelmed, tired, burnt out.
- 23:24Speaker 1: I'm done.
- 23:24Speaker 10: I got to the awards super late, so I had
- 23:26Speaker 10: five more minutes until the red carpet closed and they
- 23:28Speaker 10: really wanted to rush me through because the awards were
- 23:30Speaker 10: about to start. Similar to the behavior we saw from
- 23:32Speaker 10: journalists last year at the TikTok Awards and more recently
- 23:34Speaker 10: at Australian Fashion Week, one of the reporters tried to
- 23:36Speaker 10: create a viral moment.
- 23:56Speaker 2: This time it was by trying to get Indy to
- 23:58Speaker 2: talk about her nose job.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Let's take a listen.
- 24:02Speaker 10: Second interview. Um, there was only two questions and the
- 24:05Speaker 10: second question was like, what's your wabi-sabi? And I was like,
- 24:07Speaker 10: what is it? What is a wabi-sabi? She goes, oh,
- 24:08Speaker 10: it's like something that's like off center, a bit wonky
- 24:10Speaker 10: or something. You know, like my wabi-sabi is my tooth.
- 24:12Speaker 10: My head, I'm like, I'm not mentioning this because like,
- 24:14Speaker 10: I don't want to talk about that. Like I've just
- 24:15Speaker 10: spent all afternoon getting ready. I feel really good. I
- 24:17Speaker 10: didn't want to talk about it. There's so many other
- 24:18Speaker 10: things we could talk about. I'm like, okay, cool. My
- 24:20Speaker 10: wabi-sabi is like my off center middle part. Like it's
- 24:22Speaker 10: always off center. Like it's always wonky. Her response was,
- 24:26Speaker 10: oh my God, I thought you were going to say
- 24:27Speaker 10: your nose.
- 24:28Speaker 5: Sorry?
- 24:28Speaker 10: Like what?
- 24:31Speaker 2: Now, Indy went on to say that she told the
- 24:33Speaker 2: reporter that she can't comment legally about her nose and
- 24:37Speaker 2: said that the questions really threw her and she suddenly
- 24:40Speaker 2: felt like she didn't want to be there at the event.
- 24:42Speaker 2: She just wanted to go home.
- 24:43Speaker 1: I can understand that though. I think people are forgetting
- 24:46Speaker 1: how traumatic the past eight months has been for Indy.
- 24:49Speaker 1: She has been relentlessly trolled and bullied over this nose job.
- 24:53Speaker 1: It's different when she jumps on her own platform and
- 24:55Speaker 1: decides that she wants to talk about it or she
- 24:57Speaker 1: appears on a podcast and has approved those questions. But
- 25:00Speaker 1: this is all in a bid for TikTok to create
- 25:03Speaker 1: a viral moment and essentially create more trolling.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Well, we all know what type of comments would have
- 25:08Speaker 2: been put under that video. And it gives you an
- 25:10Speaker 2: insight into the headspace she would have been in when
- 25:14Speaker 2: she appeared on the red carpet.
- 25:15Speaker 1: She's got all these photographers.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Yelling and screaming at her while trying to work out,
- 25:20Speaker 2: you know, what angle she wants to.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Be photographed in. Yeah, well, that's another thing as well.
- 25:24Speaker 1: She probably was feeling quite self-conscious about being captured from
- 25:28Speaker 1: a ton of different angles with photographers who we've heard
- 25:31Speaker 1: are very rude. I mean, maybe a lot of the
- 25:33Speaker 1: commentary came from people who don't actually follow Indy's content.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Because when I saw that vision, I thought, that's just
- 25:38Speaker 1: Indy being Indy. She's always a bit crazy and out there.
- 25:41Speaker 2: In saying that though, there was a lot of commentary
- 25:43Speaker 2: on Indy's video saying, oh, I was ready to go
- 25:46Speaker 2: to war for you. And then I saw the vision.
- 25:49Speaker 2: If I was Indy's PR manager, I probably would have
- 25:51Speaker 2: told her to ignore the video because what she's done
- 25:55Speaker 2: is actually drive more attention to it. It's gone even
- 25:58Speaker 2: more viral You know, we've seen that the comments have
- 26:00Speaker 2: now been switched off, I'm assuming because they were so defamatory.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Because these are defamatory claims being made against Indy Clinton
- 26:06Speaker 2: that she has come out and said is not true.
- 26:08Speaker 2: We need to take her word on that. I mean,
- 26:10Speaker 2: it was pretty funny because she ended up sharing a
- 26:13Speaker 2: photo of her and Ben eating a lobster dinner 30
- 26:16Speaker 2: minutes after the awards night saying, Oh, you know, we
- 26:19Speaker 2: weren't even partying. Like, this is us enjoying a meal.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Probably hungry because they didn't get any food at the awards.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Well, I actually think it's good that she did address
- 26:26Speaker 1: the rumors and flat out say, no, there's no truth
- 26:28Speaker 1: to that. Because sometimes when you don't comment, it looks
- 26:31Speaker 1: like you're trying to hide something.
- 26:32Speaker 2: I understand why she did it, because if that was
- 26:34Speaker 2: me and I'm like, this is completely untrue, I would
- 26:37Speaker 2: want to clear my own name. But I think it
- 26:39Speaker 2: just kind of made it go more viral and led
- 26:41Speaker 2: to further speculation. There was also a lot of negative commentary,
- 26:45Speaker 2: people saying that they weren't happy that Indy said she
- 26:47Speaker 2: was exhausted. One person wrote, you know, most of us
- 26:50Speaker 2: work almost every day, every week, right?
- 26:52Speaker 1: Laugh out loud.
- 26:52Speaker 2: That comment got 25,000 likes on her own page. That
- 26:56Speaker 2: pissed me off though, because I'm like, okay, what India
- 26:58Speaker 2: is trying to say is in addition to her full-time
- 27:03Speaker 2: job as a mother of three, which is the hardest
- 27:06Speaker 2: fucking job in the world, she also works as a
- 27:08Speaker 2: content creator and a stakeholder in a business. So yeah,
- 27:12Speaker 2: she would be bloody busy.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Adam Hyde's iconic performance alongside the Wiggles at the TikTok
- 27:18Speaker 1: Awards has been soured following the release of a backstage
- 27:22Speaker 1: TikTok video. Kate, can you tell us more?
- 27:24Speaker 2: Well, when Vision from Adam's performance was shared across social media,
- 27:28Speaker 2: a lot of us had to do a double take
- 27:30Speaker 2: when Anthony and the Tree of Wisdom appeared on stage
- 27:33Speaker 2: next to Abby Chatfield. So Anthony joined in on the
- 27:37Speaker 2: bagpipes while Adam sung Dancing 2. while the Tree of
- 27:41Speaker 2: Wisdom was a backup dancer.
- 27:44Speaker 1: And was Abby playing the bongo drums? Yeah, it was
- 27:46Speaker 1: just iconic. I mean, that clip went everywhere.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Now, following the awards, Adam shared a video backstage with
- 27:53Speaker 2: Anthony and the Tree of Wisdom. And in the clip,
- 27:56Speaker 2: Adam is seen gyrating with just a towel on around
- 27:59Speaker 2: his waist, while Anthony performed his signature Wiggles Fingers. Now,
- 28:04Speaker 2: the tree also did his special dance. The problem was
- 28:09Speaker 2: the clip was set to Adam's new single, Ecstasy. So
- 28:12Speaker 2: in the chorus of the song, Adam sings, Hey girl,
- 28:15Speaker 2: come on dance with me, you and your pocket of ecstasy.
- 28:19Speaker 2: Now Adam captioned the video, The Wiggles.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Get it. Now the backlash was very swift. People started
- 28:25Speaker 1: accusing The Wiggles of endorsing drug use. The Wiggles ended
- 28:29Speaker 1: up having to release a statement saying they do not
- 28:31Speaker 1: condone the use of drugs in any form. The statement continued,
- 28:35Speaker 1: the content being shared was not created or approved by
- 28:39Speaker 1: us and we have asked for it to be removed.
- 28:42Speaker 1: While Kelly Holliday, in brackets, Adam Hyde, is a friend
- 28:44Speaker 1: of the Wiggles, the video and the music added to
- 28:47Speaker 1: it were created independently and without our knowledge. Our performance
- 28:51Speaker 1: at the TikTok Awards was family friendly and fun and
- 28:54Speaker 1: this video was edited together separately and without our awareness.
- 28:58Speaker 2: To Adam's credit, he ended up removing the video from TikTok.
- 29:02Speaker 1: I mean, that's the thing about this day and age.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Even though he's removed it, there's been so many people
- 29:06Speaker 1: who've saved the video and screen recorded it. You can
- 29:09Speaker 1: easily find it.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Also, with the video being removed, while, you know, there's
- 29:13Speaker 2: some people resharing it, I saw these headlines and I
- 29:16Speaker 2: was like, oh, my God. Like, you know, when you
- 29:17Speaker 2: only briefly read it, I was like, were the Wiggles
- 29:20Speaker 2: caught out doing drugs with Adam Hyde backstage? Like, that's
- 29:22Speaker 2: what I initially thought. I was actually telling Rhys, I'm like,
- 29:24Speaker 2: did you hear about that? And he goes, no, wasn't
- 29:26Speaker 2: it just a video with a song? And I was like, oh,
- 29:28Speaker 2: that makes more sense. But it seems like they were
- 29:31Speaker 2: completely unaware of the song that was actually going to
- 29:33Speaker 2: be put behind the vision.
- 29:36Speaker 1: Tammy Hembrough was a notable no-show at the TikTok Awards.
- 29:39Speaker 1: despite being nominated for Creator of the Year. Her absence
- 29:43Speaker 1: sent the rumor mill into overdrive, sparking some outlandish stories. Kate,
- 29:48Speaker 1: can you tell us more?
- 29:49Speaker 2: I had been waiting all day to see what Tammy
- 29:52Speaker 2: wore to the event. I was expecting a Get Ready
- 29:55Speaker 2: With Me video and an outfit reveal at the very least.
- 29:58Speaker 2: But what I got was radio silence. And when she
- 30:02Speaker 2: didn't appear on the red carpet, I was really thrown
- 30:04Speaker 2: because it was clear she wasn't home on the Gold
- 30:07Speaker 2: Coast either. So Tammy's ex-fiancé and baby daddy, Matt Paul,
- 30:11Speaker 2: had been posting from their daughter Posey's dance concert alongside
- 30:15Speaker 2: his new fiancé, Annalise Otway. And Tammy was nowhere to
- 30:19Speaker 2: be seen.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Well, Matt did point out that Annalise did Posey's makeup
- 30:23Speaker 1: and got her ready for the event.
- 30:24Speaker 2: And I remember seeing this vision and thinking, God, Tammy
- 30:27Speaker 2: would be so sad to be missing out on this.
- 30:29Speaker 2: But she must be in Sydney for the TikTok Awards.
- 30:31Speaker 2: That's clearly why she's not there. But of course, she
- 30:34Speaker 2: ended up not being there. So Tammy's absence took a
- 30:37Speaker 2: lot of people by surprise, particularly considering she was part
- 30:40Speaker 2: of the promo for the awards, not to mention the
- 30:43Speaker 2: fact that she was nominated for the biggest award.
- 30:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:46Speaker 1: And when people realized that Tammy wasn't at the awards,
- 30:49Speaker 1: rumors started swirling in particular when people also noticed that
- 30:53Speaker 1: Tammy's ex-husband, Matt Sikowski, wasn't there.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Now, whispers among the award attendees spread to the media
- 30:59Speaker 2: and the Daily Mail started investigating a story that Tammy
- 31:03Speaker 2: was overseas filming for I'm.
- 31:04Speaker 1: A Celeb with Matt.
- 31:05Speaker 2: They actually got quotes from people at the event saying, oh,
- 31:08Speaker 2: that's what they had heard.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Tammy added further fuel to the fire because she ended
- 31:13Speaker 1: up being MIA from socials following the event. She only
- 31:16Speaker 1: ended up sharing some pre-recorded Black Friday sales content. But
- 31:19Speaker 1: apart from that, She didn't share where she was or
- 31:22Speaker 1: what she'd been up to.
- 31:23Speaker 2: And it seemed like this story about I'm a celeb
- 31:25Speaker 2: could be true because Annalise also shared on social media
- 31:29Speaker 2: that she and Matt were looking after Posey full time
- 31:32Speaker 2: while Tammy was away for a month. I knew this
- 31:35Speaker 2: whole thing was bullshit though from the get go because
- 31:37Speaker 2: Matt revealed on his podcast on Wednesday that he wasn't
- 31:40Speaker 2: invited to.
- 31:41Speaker 1: The TikTok awards. I'm not surprised that he wasn't invited, though.
- 31:44Speaker 1: He's only got 13,000 followers on there, so he's not
- 31:47Speaker 1: even really a micro-influencer.
- 31:50Speaker 2: He still appears to be very much in the country
- 31:52Speaker 2: as well. I mean, I'm aware that he could have
- 31:54Speaker 2: banked up some content to make it look like he
- 31:57Speaker 2: is still here, but he's been posting on his stories
- 31:59Speaker 2: quite a lot with his sister's golden retriever and with
- 32:02Speaker 2: his manager.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I found those photos interesting. So Matt is represented
- 32:07Speaker 1: by One Daydream, which is a leading influencer and talent
- 32:10Speaker 1: agency and also a podcast network. And in the series
- 32:13Speaker 1: of photos, he and his talent manager, Jenna, are in
- 32:17Speaker 1: the one daydream office. And Matt was poking fun at
- 32:20Speaker 1: Jenna for wearing a tie. And then they recreated a
- 32:23Speaker 1: scene from the office. And I mean, side note, these
- 32:27Speaker 1: ties are apparently all the rage with Gen Zers. I've
- 32:29Speaker 1: seen a couple of influencers, including Saffron Barker, wearing these
- 32:32Speaker 1: when they're out and about. Like she wore one in
- 32:34Speaker 1: Paris as if it was this huge fashion moment.
- 32:37Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not even going to comment on fashion because,
- 32:40Speaker 2: I don't know, for the At least a year now,
- 32:41Speaker 2: I've just predominantly been wearing leggings.
- 32:43Speaker 1: And apparently they're out of fashion now as well. It's devastating. Now,
- 32:47Speaker 1: aside from that, I just think it's really interesting that
- 32:49Speaker 1: Matt has been signed by a large agency like One Daydream.
- 32:53Speaker 1: It's not quite clear if this is a new signing.
- 32:55Speaker 1: I think perhaps he's been on their books for a
- 32:56Speaker 1: couple of months now. I mean, it does make sense
- 32:59Speaker 1: because his marriage to Tammy Hembrough has obviously helped lift
- 33:02Speaker 1: his profile. But I was fascinated to see how they
- 33:07Speaker 1: described him on their website as talent. So I was like, oh,
- 33:10Speaker 1: they're probably desperate to mention Tammy in there. Fortunately for him,
- 33:15Speaker 1: they didn't. So it read, Matt Zukowski, a standout from
- 33:18Speaker 1: Love Island Australia season two, captivates with his cheeky charm
- 33:22Speaker 1: and quick wit, earning himself the runner's up title. A
- 33:25Speaker 1: family man, he enjoys time with his sisters, NFL and
- 33:28Speaker 1: horror films. I thought it was funny that they mentioned that.
- 33:31Speaker 1: It continued, passionate about health, fitness and fashion, Matt divides
- 33:34Speaker 1: his time between creating content and modelling. Alongside Anna McAvoy,
- 33:38Speaker 1: a former contestant and close friend, he co-hosts the podcast
- 33:41Speaker 1: Wears Your Head Out, offering insights into relationships, laughter, and
- 33:45Speaker 1: advice from both gender perspectives.
- 33:48Speaker 2: I mean, it's a nice write-up. I originally thought that
- 33:52Speaker 2: the woman in the photo with Matt was another content
- 33:55Speaker 2: creator or influencer. I didn't realize it was his actual manager.
- 33:58Speaker 2: And did you get a bit of like flirty vibe
- 34:00Speaker 2: between them?
- 34:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I did. And that's why I took note of it.
- 34:04Speaker 1: I was like, interesting well she was a beautiful she's
- 34:06Speaker 1: a beautiful girl yeah well i was like is he
- 34:08Speaker 1: posting this because he's just signed with the agency but
- 34:11Speaker 1: then i had a look and he wasn't actually no
- 34:13Speaker 1: talent on.
- 34:14Speaker 2: No he's been with them for a while she's the
- 34:16Speaker 2: brains behind the fit checks that they do oh i
- 34:20Speaker 2: see the you know the hand that you normally see
- 34:22Speaker 2: in them the gun hand well.
- 34:23Speaker 1: She obviously got him an invite to the wicked premiere
- 34:26Speaker 1: as well which seems to be up his alley if
- 34:28Speaker 1: he's into movies and Well.
- 34:30Speaker 2: Getting back to where Tammy Hembrough actually is, the only
- 34:33Speaker 2: element of truth to the rumors that were flying around
- 34:36Speaker 2: is that Tammy is in fact filming for a reality show.
- 34:39Speaker 1: It's not I'm a Celebrity, though.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Instead, she's appearing on Channel 9's new show Shark, which
- 34:44Speaker 2: started production in the Bahamas a week and a half ago.
- 34:47Speaker 2: Back in October, we discussed how the Herald Sun had
- 34:50Speaker 2: reported Tammy's name was mentioned as a cast member on
- 34:53Speaker 2: the show during Channel 9's Upfronts. I'm a bit disappointed
- 34:57Speaker 2: because I would much prefer to see her on I'm
- 35:00Speaker 2: a Celeb. This show sounds a little bit weird. It
- 35:02Speaker 2: basically puts celebrities to the test by making them do
- 35:05Speaker 2: a bunch of challenges, which include close encounters with sharks.
- 35:09Speaker 1: It is a bit of a weird show. Didn't she
- 35:10Speaker 1: get some sort of diving thing recently?
- 35:13Speaker 2: Yeah, in August she spoke a lot about doing a
- 35:15Speaker 2: scuba diving course, so it all makes a lot of sense.
- 35:18Speaker 2: And on Saturday she finally addressed the speculation as to
- 35:21Speaker 2: why she didn't attend the awards.
- 35:23Speaker 1: Let's take a listen.
- 35:25Speaker 10: Guys, I'm so sad that I have had to miss
- 35:29Speaker 10: the TikTok Awards.
- 35:30Speaker 1: I'm not home at the moment. But, yeah, I know
- 35:34Speaker 1: I'm a little bit MIA, but.
- 35:35Speaker 7: I'll be back.
- 35:37Speaker 1: Well, I mean, maybe she got the heads up that
- 35:39Speaker 1: she wasn't winning Creative of the Year and thought, well,
- 35:41Speaker 1: I've got better and bigger things on.
- 35:43Speaker 2: Do you think they would have given her the award
- 35:44Speaker 2: if she couldn't attend? Like, it wouldn't have been a
- 35:46Speaker 2: good look.
- 35:48Speaker 1: Really think that she is TikTok creator of the year.
- 35:50Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, she lip syncs to a few videos
- 35:52Speaker 1: and yes, she did drop the bomb about her divorce
- 35:54Speaker 1: on there, but I don't, I think that there's more
- 35:56Speaker 1: worthy winners than her.
- 35:58Speaker 2: I mean, she was one of the only creators I
- 36:00Speaker 2: actually knew who was up for the award.
- 36:02Speaker 1: So that's why I thought she should have won. Yeah,
- 36:04Speaker 1: but then again, that's the beauty of TikTok. Someone could
- 36:06Speaker 1: have 3 million followers and you've got no idea who
- 36:08Speaker 1: they are. It's whatever niche or algorithm you're being served up.
- 36:12Speaker 1: That is where we will leave things today. Thank you
