  video, today we're going to be talking about how alt tech is
• 0:46
  dead. No, I am not referring to
• 0:49
  websites like FTJ Media and Quarter when I say alt tech is
• 0:54
  dead. FTJ Media is going along strong
• 0:58
  and Quarter my video sharing site will be back up for people
• 1:02
  to upload to as soon as I purchase some servers for video
• 1:07
  storage. When I talk about alt tech being
• 1:11
  dead, I'm talking about alt tech sites that have been around for
• 1:15
  about 8 to 12 years plus. We're talking about sites like
• 1:19
  Bit Shoot and Rumble and Odyssey, and we're talking about
• 1:24
  Brighteon Com, the video sharing site.
• 1:28
  And we're talking about sites like Minds and Gab and True
• 1:33
  Social and Getter. You see, there was a period of
• 1:36
  time about 5 to 6 years ago, maybe you want to say seven
• 1:40
  years ago. If you want to stretch it back
• 1:42
  to 2018, there was a period of time where all tech sites were
• 1:48
  growing and growing fast because of all the censorship that was
• 1:52
  going on on mainstream social media sites like Twitter, like
• 1:56
  YouTube, like Facebook, like Instagram, etcetera.
• 1:59
  So these alt tech sites were all growing and I jumped on board
• 2:04
  back then onto all these sites and I really took advantage of
• 2:08
  them and especially sites like Bit Shoot and Gab.
• 2:12
  I grew a lot on sites like Brighteon and YouTube and new
• 2:18
  Tube and Pew Tube and all that stuff.
• 2:20
  I kind of got some followers here and there and some views
• 2:23
  and engagement here and there, but I never really took off like
• 2:26
  I did on Gab and like I did on Bit shoot.
• 2:29
  So alt tech was fun for a while. It was rapidly growing.
• 2:32
  It seemed at the time that alt tech actually had a chance of
• 2:37
  supplanting the mainstream legacy media tech like YouTube,
• 2:41
  Twitter, Facebook, etcetera. But unfortunately, alt tech
• 2:45
  sites started engaging in censorship about five years ago
• 2:50
  and their leaders got exposed for being a bunch of lying
• 2:55
  grifters. And a lot of the people who were
• 2:57
  promoting these alt tech websites, well, they just
• 3:00
  stopped promoting them. And over time, we've seen
• 3:04
  basically all of these sites. All of them are now dead pretty
• 3:08
  much. And by dead, I don't mean
• 3:09
  they're gone. They're still there.
• 3:11
  There's still some people using them, but it is not the active
• 3:16
  pool that it used to be 5 years ago.
• 3:18
  It's not going to take down Silicon Valley anytime soon.
• 3:22
  Sites like Gab, Truth Social, Getter especially, which are
• 3:26
  like the biggest alternatives to Facebook and Twitter, they
• 3:30
  they're really ghost towns at this point.
• 3:33
  Getter was a Twitter alternative that popped up in 2021 and over
• 3:38
  the next year and two, it kind of had momentum spurts here and
• 3:42
  there, but it could never sustain it.
• 3:43
  And now Getter at this point is pretty much a ghost town.
• 3:47
  True Social is basically the same way.
• 3:50
  Unless you're interacting with Donald Trump's posts that he
• 3:54
  makes on True Social, you generally you're going to have
• 3:58
  zero engagement and 0 interaction over on Truth Social
• 4:02
  if your own posts or basically interacting with anyone else's
• 4:06
  posts. Basically a Truth Social is a
• 4:09
  ghost town with the exception of Donald Trump's account.
• 4:11
  And then you look at Gab. Gab used to make a bunch of
• 4:14
  headlines and used to have real, genuine growth, and it used to
• 4:18
  be a great place to get exposure to new information that you
• 4:22
  hadn't before, and it was a great way to reach a whole new
• 4:25
  audience. But now Gab itself, while not
• 4:29
  quite a ghost town, basically Andrew Torba came out as a lying
• 4:34
  grifter and a heretic, the leader of a cult of personality.
• 4:38
  He actually proved that he's under God's curse by teaching a
• 4:42
  gospel other than the one that Paul and Jesus in the New
• 4:45
  Testament teach. And he also engaged in a little
• 4:50
  bit of censorship here and there.
• 4:52
  So Andrew Torba came out of the closet as the freak parade that
• 4:55
  he is. And basically all the same
• 4:58
  normal people stopped using Gab, left Gab, and pretty much the
• 5:03
  only people left are all the crazy people who follow Andrew
• 5:07
  Torba's cult of personality, which is largely a lot of
• 5:11
  heretical Christians and a lot of people who are bigoted
• 5:14
  against Jews. So Gab is pretty much useless as
• 5:17
  a long term alternative. I mean I still use Gab to share
• 5:21
  all my videos, and I still use Truth Social and Getter to share
• 5:25
  my videos, but it is looking pretty sparse out there.
• 5:29
  In the alt tech world. It is very much a dead movement
• 5:33
  at this point. I mean even the sites that are
• 5:37
  still working somewhat for me are not what they once were.
• 5:41
  Like for example, let's take my Bit Shoot channel over on Bit
• 5:46
  Shoot, I have over 2300 subscribers currently at 2000,
• 5:52
  332 at the time of this recording.
• 5:55
  And I get a lot of views still on my bit shoot videos.

  I mean, you go to my about page, you see that I just cracked
• 6:03
  758,000 total video views. You go to my videos page and you
• 6:09
  go look at videos from like a month ago or so and you see that
• 6:13
  I still get couple 100 to several 100 views on pretty much
• 6:19
  every video I put out on bit Shoot.
• 6:22
  And then if you go looking back from a couple years ago and
• 6:25
  beyond, you'll see that I have lots of videos with over 1000
• 6:29
  plus views. In fact, I have so many videos
• 6:32
  with 1000 or more views on bit Shoot that I honestly can't keep
• 6:36
  count. And if I were attempts to go
• 6:39
  count them all, we might be talking triple digits.
• 6:42
  I mean, Bit Shoot has been a great site for me historically
• 6:47
  and it is where I have my biggest following.
• 6:50
  My 2332 Subs, believe it or not, actually put me in at least the
• 6:55
  top 7% of channels on Bit Shoot. At one point, I was in the top
• 7:01
  5% of creators on Bit Shoot in terms of subscribers and total
• 7:05
  video views, but I doubt that I'm still in the top 5%.
• 7:09
  So I conservatively say 7%. But even though I still get
• 7:15
  plenty of views on my Bit Shoot videos, I have noticed that my
• 7:19
  engagement has gone way down. I still get the occasional
• 7:22
  comment. I still get the occasional like
• 7:25
  on my videos, but they are nowhere near as many as they
• 7:29
  used to be back when Bit Shoot was a growing happening site and
• 7:33
  my channel was growing and happening.
• 7:35
  So Bit Shoot, I would say, even though I get plenty of views on
• 7:39
  my videos over here, I would say Bit Shoot is pretty much dead in
• 7:43
  the water. And similar thing is true,
• 7:46
  unfortunately with Rumble, although in a slightly different
• 7:50
  way now for a long time, Rumble was good for me.
• 7:55
  I was slowly getting a subscriber count going on
• 7:59
  Rumble. My videos that I would upload to
• 8:02
  Rumble would get just as many and sometimes more views than
• 8:07
  the YouTube versions of those videos.
• 8:10
  And I thought, wow, this is really happening.
• 8:13
  And then every time I do a live stream, that live stream would
• 8:16
  get like 150 to 200 and sometimes even 300 views and I'd
• 8:23
  get like 8 to 12 live viewers on almost every stream.
• 8:27
  I did like my Rumble channel at one point was happening and
• 8:31
  lively and things were going awesome, but now on Rumble I'm
• 8:36
  lucky if I can get any views on my videos.
• 8:40
  If I do a live stream, I can still get several dozen views on
• 8:44
  a stream, which is nice, but my live viewer counts have gone
• 8:48
  down to like 2 to four people per live stream.
• 8:52
  I get more activity honestly on my live streams over on FTJ
• 8:56
  media, even though most of the people who are interacting with
• 9:00
  my streams over there, not necessarily the kind of people
• 9:03
  who agree with me ideologically, but at least they interact with
• 9:07
  my stream and watch it. Whereas Rumble and it's not what
• 9:11
  it once was, It's not what it was a year or two ago for me.

  And if I do an upload, offline upload like I do to YouTube, I
• 9:19
  get almost no views. As you can see, my recent video
• 9:23
  about Jack Pacific only has 11 views on Rumble, which is odd
• 9:27
  because Rumble is a site that caters to politics and those
• 9:31
  kind of people. And so you would think a video
• 9:33
  like that would get some views considering how popular Jackie
• 9:37
  is over on Twitter. But no, not the case.
• 9:41
  And then you go scrolling through my uploads over the last
• 9:44
  couple of months and you see that over on Rumble, my videos
• 9:48
  are struggling to get views after a long period of time
• 9:52
  where that wasn't an issue. So yeah, it's obvious that
• 9:56
  Rumble is not good in terms of my growth on my channel.

  Now, if you go perusing around Rumble, you'll see that there's
• 10:05
  a lot of really popular people who use Rumble and they get
• 10:08
  really high view counts on their videos, live streams on Rumble.
• 10:12
  But I think the reason why other people are experiencing a lot of
• 10:18
  views and engagement and some growth on Rumble and why people
• 10:21
  like me no longer are. I think a big part of that is
• 10:25
  that over time, Rumble has stopped trying to be a YouTube
• 10:31
  competitor and they've instead decided to make themselves a
• 10:36
  Twitch competitor because they've added features on the
• 10:39
  site that you can find on Twitch.
• 10:41
  They have a special emphasis on live streaming.
• 10:44
  Whenever they're promoting the site, they constantly are trying
• 10:48
  to get streamers to use Rumble and when they open up their
• 10:53
  content creator program that they do to try and help smaller
• 10:56
  channels become bigger channels. The channels that they are
• 10:59
  looking for to be in their partner program, They are always
• 11:04
  channels that stream at least five days a week, 2 to 3 hours a
• 11:08
  day, which is great if you're a streamer who does that on a
• 11:11
  regular basis. But if you're someone like me
• 11:14
  who does one live stream for a couple hours every week or every
• 11:17
  other week, and most of your videos are things that you film
• 11:21
  offline and then upload to the site, people like me are not
• 11:24
  even remotely eligible to be part of Rumble's partner
• 11:29
  program. And it's not because we don't
• 11:33
  get views or we don't post enough content.
• 11:36
  It's because we don't live stream.
• 11:37
  I mean, Rumble is literally a Twitch competitor at this point
• 11:40
  instead of a YouTube competitor. And so people like me who have
• 11:45
  been Youtubers for a really long time and we're used to doing
• 11:48
  things in a way that is conducive to growing on YouTube,
• 11:53
  well, we just aren't growing on Rumble much.
• 11:56
  I mean, if you go scrolling through my Rumble history,
• 11:58
  you'll see I got a lot of views on a lot of videos, but all the
• 12:01
  recent stuff is hard pressed to get views.
• 12:05
  It's just really tough sledding on Rumble now.
• 12:07
  Rumble is still a good place to stream to.
• 12:10
  It's easy to stream to their site and I really enjoy having
• 12:15
  somewhere other than YouTube to stream to, even though I have
• 12:19
  more recently started streaming to YouTube again.
• 12:22
  But yeah, Rumble and Bit Shoot, which are probably the two best
• 12:25
  places in terms of my alt tech presence, even they are not what
• 12:29
  they once were. So it is a sad, sad day.
• 12:32
  The alt tech movement is really dead.
• 12:35
  And what's really funny is the one place where I'm actually
• 12:40
  growing somewhat in terms of getting new subscribers and
• 12:45
  getting likes on my content in terms of my videos and getting
• 12:50
  engagement with my videos in terms of comments and likes and
• 12:54
  people hitting that subscribe button and where the only real
• 12:59
  growth is happening. It's my YouTube channel of all
• 13:02
  things, my YouTube channel. After all these years of YouTube
• 13:07
  censorship and me investing in alt tech platforms, my YouTube
• 13:11
  channel is the only thing at this point that is really
• 13:14
  growing at all in terms of the TTOR network, I guess you could
• 13:19
  call it. Everywhere else I've been
• 13:21
  investing for years into is basically dead for the most
• 13:26
  part. I mean bit shoot, I still reach
• 13:28
  some people. I still get hundreds of views on
• 13:30
  all my videos but channel growth is impossible there.
• 13:35
  If I gain a subscriber or two, I usually lose a subscriber or two
• 13:38
  with the next video. So basically I'm stuck where I'm
• 13:41
  at subscriber count wise on bit shoot and I don't get the
• 13:44
  engagement on my videos I once did which is sad.
• 13:48
  And Rumble is definitely seeing a decrease in engagement and
• 13:53
  views of my content, which I don't live for that stuff.
• 13:56
  But after having some moderate success on Rumble not that long
• 14:01
  ago, to see my numbers and metrics go all the way down,
• 14:04
  it's just it's just a slightly depressing thing, but not
• 14:08
  something that's going to stop me from using the site,
• 14:11
  especially since YouTube still censors people.
• 14:14
  They still do stuff that's screwy.
• 14:16
  And so I have to maintain these presences on Rumble and bit
• 14:22
  shoot and these all tech sites like Gab Getter and True Social
• 14:26
  because, well, YouTube censorship is a thing, still
• 14:30
  hasn't really gone away. As a matter of fact, in a lot of
• 14:32
  ways it's worse than back when all tech sites were growing and
• 14:36
  thriving. Twitter I can get some
• 14:39
  engagement on, but I can't consistently grow there because
• 14:43
  I'll gain a bunch of followers and then I'll lose a bunch of
• 14:45
  followers and I think it's a bunch of bots being cleaned out.
• 14:48
  But I never can control who decides to follow me on Twitter.
• 14:53
  Plus Twitter, even though they are now owned by Elon Musk and
• 14:57
  even though they've allowed some people back onto their platform
• 15:00
  who were previously banned under the old Twitter administration.
• 15:04
  Well, unfortunately, Twitter still censors people too.
• 15:09
  Not as much as they used to, but they still censor people.
• 15:12
  And so I know I could be on the chopping block any day now over
• 15:16
  on Twitter. It could happen.
• 15:18
  We'll see. But yeah, it's quite the thing,
• 15:20
  guys, seeing my YouTube channel in 2025 being pretty much the
• 15:26
  one social media presence I have that's getting any real growth
• 15:30
  and engagement and all the stuff I've spent years investing into
• 15:34
  and growing, that stuff's pretty much dead at this point.

  It's sad because back in the day when alt tech sites were
• 15:41
  starting up and they were growing, there were people back
• 15:43
  then who were objecting to their existence and basically saying
• 15:47
  that they were just these little ho dunk websites and they stood
• 15:50
  no chance against YouTube and all that fun stuff.
• 15:53
  And I didn't want to believe them at the time.
• 15:56
  Frankly, I still don't because I saw a real significant growth on
• 16:00
  these sites back in the late twenty 10s, early twenty 20s.

  If these websites hadn't shot themselves in the foot and
• 16:08
  started censoring people and drifting off of people, they
• 16:12
  probably would have continued growing and they would have been
• 16:14
  mainstream by now, or at least really close to being the
• 16:17
  mainstream. But instead they've shot
• 16:19
  themselves all in the foot and mainstream tech is still going
• 16:23
  strong. So we're almost back to square
• 16:26
  one with where we were in terms of the Internet and censorship
• 16:30
  10 years ago. But not to worry guys, I'm still
• 16:33
  going to be putting out my videos when I can.
• 16:37
  I know I got plenty of topics that I need to make videos about
• 16:42
  and I will definitely be working on those when I can.
• 16:46
  It's tough though, because I have a full time job that I work
• 16:50
  and I also have a gaming channel that I do and I try to make time
• 16:55
  for friends and family. And so I, I can't exactly nail
• 16:59
  down a consistent schedule at this point for putting out
• 17:02
  videos, but I will make an effort to do at least one video
• 17:08
  upload a week, if not two or three.
• 17:11
  And I will make an effort to at least once every two weeks, if
• 17:15
  not every week, do a live stream on the weekends because I do
• 17:19
  like doing live streams. I like putting together intros.
• 17:22
  I like having music playing during those intros and I like
• 17:27
  being able to interact with people in an off the cuff,
• 17:30
  unscripted format. I like doing that at this point
• 17:33
  because it's kind of therapeutic, kind of relaxing,
• 17:36
  even if I'm not always fully prepared to answer questions
• 17:40
  that are in front of me. But I definitely need to keep
• 17:42
  doing that. But I also need to keep putting
• 17:44
  out my videos that I've been putting out for years, videos
• 17:47
  that require more prep and research and all that.

  So I got lots of things on the list that I need to do videos
• 17:53
  about and I just need to get to it.
