- 1:02Speaker 6: It's so much fun.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it really is.
- 1:04Speaker 6: It really is. That's not ironic, No, I know.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I love doing this show. It's great to be able
- 1:08Speaker 2: to sit down and talk sports. Especially when I do
- 1:10Speaker 2: my show on Candy over there, I really can't talk sports.
- 1:13Speaker 2: It's pop culture stuff. So yeah, kind of the wrong audience.
- 1:16Speaker 2: So this is a great outlet for me to be
- 1:17Speaker 2: able to talk sports, for you to be able to
- 1:19Speaker 2: talk sports. Let's get into college football as we do
- 1:23Speaker 2: it this time, because it is another big weekend. Every
- 1:26Speaker 2: weekend in college football is a big weekend. We'll get
- 1:28Speaker 2: into some of the games in just a minute, but
- 1:31Speaker 2: I did want to follow up on what we talked
- 1:34Speaker 2: about last week. Well, I talked about it with Will
- 1:36Speaker 2: you Weren't here about how the Big twelve was kind
- 1:41Speaker 2: of putting their foot down even harder on Texas Tech
- 1:43Speaker 2: about the tortilla throwing. Yeah, well it came out earlier
- 1:47Speaker 2: this week that Texas Tech just themselves is banning tortillas
- 1:51Speaker 2: altogether at their ends. It was the athletic director that
- 1:54Speaker 2: came out Monday of this week and said that fans
- 1:57Speaker 2: entering the stadium would be instructed to disc card they're
- 2:00Speaker 2: tortillas and that there would be reminders before kickoff for
- 2:03Speaker 2: anyone who took tortillas in to give them to stadium
- 2:07Speaker 2: workers in order for them to be thrown away. Anyone
- 2:09Speaker 2: caught throwing tortillas would have their ticket privileges revoked for
- 2:13Speaker 2: the rest of the academic year across all sports. The announcement,
- 2:18Speaker 2: of course, this came after what we talked about last
- 2:21Speaker 2: week where the Raiders were given the two unsportsmanlike conduct
- 2:25Speaker 2: penalties in that game against Kansas when they were throwing
- 2:28Speaker 2: them out there. So I agree with you what you
- 2:31Speaker 2: just said. This is horrible for the spirit of the game.
- 2:34Speaker 2: It totally ruins the spirit of the game. That being said,
- 2:38Speaker 2: I cannot stand Texas Tech fans. I hate them with
- 2:41Speaker 2: every fiber of my being. So any people, no, okay,
- 2:45Speaker 2: don't man. I don't hate a lot of people. Okay,
- 2:49Speaker 2: I hate certain groups of people that most people hate too.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I don't know if most people hate Texas Tech fans,
- 2:55Speaker 2: but I sure do.
- 2:55Speaker 6: That sounds a lot worse.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Dude. I have you experienced Texas Tech fans in person?
- 3:01Speaker 6: I guess not, because I have. Okay, because I mean
- 3:04Speaker 6: being a Houston fan that doesn'tss I have.
- 3:05Speaker 2: On multiple occasions, and they are not pleasant people. I
- 3:08Speaker 2: will tell you that right now. And people who are
- 3:12Speaker 2: old enough to remember A and M in the Big
- 3:14Speaker 2: Twelve when they shared the conference with Texas Tech would
- 3:17Speaker 2: also tell you the same thing true and Louis to
- 3:21Speaker 2: this day still calls them classless clowns after the two
- 3:23Speaker 2: thousand and two incident in that game. So, yeah, they're
- 3:28Speaker 2: not pleasant people. So getting back to what I was saying,
- 3:31Speaker 2: any misfortune that comes on to Texas Tech fans in
- 3:33Speaker 2: terms of football, I kind of smile at, but I
- 3:37Speaker 2: do hate this for the spirit of the game, that
- 3:39Speaker 2: they can't throw their tortillas anymore. I wonder how they
- 3:43Speaker 2: will police this. I am very curious when Texas Tech
- 3:46Speaker 2: goes to play their game. I believe they are playing
- 3:49Speaker 2: on the road tomorrow. Let me let me double check
- 3:52Speaker 2: that to make sure. I'm sorry, No, they are playing
- 3:54Speaker 2: at home. They're playing Oklahoma State at home. Oklahoma State
- 3:57Speaker 2: is a garbage can this year.
- 3:58Speaker 6: They might win by seventy.
- 4:00Speaker 2: They might win by seventy, But I'm very curious to
- 4:02Speaker 2: see if the tortillas still come out, because how can
- 4:04Speaker 2: you police thousands upon thousands of people throwing out tortillas
- 4:07Speaker 2: at a game? Yeah, like, what are they gonna kick
- 4:10Speaker 2: out the whole stadium?
- 4:12Speaker 6: I don't.
- 4:13Speaker 2: That's my genuine question, Like he said this, but how
- 4:15Speaker 2: are how are you going to police that unless you
- 4:18Speaker 2: take them at the gate, which it doesn't sound like
- 4:19Speaker 2: they're going to.
- 4:20Speaker 6: It sounds like they recommend that you give them to
- 4:22Speaker 6: the people at the gate. But they're that's the king
- 4:24Speaker 6: got to ban them from entry, like there's no, there's no,
- 4:27Speaker 6: you can't ban them.
- 4:28Speaker 2: From entry and people can stuff them in their shirts
- 4:31Speaker 2: or their pants wherever. They don't have tortilla.
- 4:33Speaker 6: Detective, right, But that's a good point. But I feel
- 4:37Speaker 6: like there's they're taking the middle ground here, and that
- 4:39Speaker 6: doesn't make any sense to me because they keep saying
- 4:43Speaker 6: turn them in. It's not saying you can't bring them in.
- 4:46Speaker 6: So I don't understand.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Tortillas would have their ticket privileges revoked from the rest
- 4:54Speaker 2: of the academic year across all sports.
- 4:55Speaker 6: Does not sound very middle ground. No, no, no, My point
- 4:59Speaker 6: is that they're not. They're not saying you can't bring
- 5:01Speaker 6: tortillas in, which I think is really weird because I mean,
- 5:05Speaker 6: I didn't think they allowed it outside food anymore.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Well, what I'm thinking is that how much of this
- 5:09Speaker 2: is Texas Tech just saying this to please the Big twelve.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Well that those fans are not gonna stop.
- 5:17Speaker 6: Well, it'll be we'll see. Now, we'll see if they
- 5:20Speaker 6: throw people out of the game.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Well, that's the thing. The pert the actual Big twelve rule.
- 5:24Speaker 2: They're allowed to do it at the opening kickoff and
- 5:26Speaker 2: just get a warning. The penalties don't start until I
- 5:30Speaker 2: want to say, it's like the it was the third
- 5:32Speaker 2: maybe it's the second one now before they start getting
- 5:34Speaker 2: the penalties and the hundred thousand dollars fines. But they're
- 5:37Speaker 2: allowed to do it the first time. But up to
- 5:41Speaker 2: this point, those fans have not shown that they are
- 5:44Speaker 2: capable of only doing it once. They always do it
- 5:46Speaker 2: again to follow it up, you know, at other kickoffs
- 5:49Speaker 2: throughout the game, and then that's where the penalties start coming.
- 5:52Speaker 2: That's where the find start coming. So from that perspective,
- 5:56Speaker 2: it's just like, okay, well give an inch, take a mile,
- 5:59Speaker 2: So let's just not let them do it at all.
- 6:00Speaker 2: But I still have high, high, high and heavy doubts
- 6:04Speaker 2: that they're going to be able to stop all of
- 6:07Speaker 2: those fans from doing this because they they can't kick
- 6:10Speaker 2: out every fan. I mean, how they gonna track every
- 6:12Speaker 2: single fan down and say Okay, we're gonna revoke your privileges.
- 6:14Speaker 2: You can't come to games. You can't come to games.
- 6:16Speaker 2: You can't because that's gonna cost them a lot of
- 6:17Speaker 2: money too, Like if they were, if they were to
- 6:20Speaker 2: actually do that, that's true.
- 6:21Speaker 6: So I don't know. I don't know that. I have
- 6:24Speaker 6: a hard time believing that there will be maybe in
- 6:27Speaker 6: this first game. I'm not saying in this first game
- 6:29Speaker 6: there won't be. But I think after this first game,
- 6:31Speaker 6: if they do actually throw people out or if it
- 6:33Speaker 6: does hurt the team, I think people will eventually stop
- 6:36Speaker 6: throwing the tortillas just because of the penalties. Well, and
- 6:38Speaker 6: there's also this like this, it's the second offense.
- 6:40Speaker 2: When it's the fourth quarter and they're up sixty five nothing,
- 6:43Speaker 2: they'll throw them out because it's not going to matter
- 6:44Speaker 2: if they get a fifteen hor penalty, but the monetary fine.
- 6:47Speaker 6: Yeah, they might just have penalty upon penalty upon penalty
- 6:50Speaker 6: upon penalty in the fourth quarter.
- 6:51Speaker 2: And I mean, you did say, what's to stop me
- 6:53Speaker 2: from going to a Texas Tech game as a fan
- 6:56Speaker 2: of the opposing team and just chucking tortillas out there
- 6:58Speaker 2: exactly like Okay, yeah, I'll get kicked out of the game.
- 7:00Speaker 6: I feel like that's almost more likely.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Wait, wait till like the most key moment, like oh wow,
- 7:05Speaker 2: they're going to go for it on fourth and five.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Would be a shame if a tortilla made its way
- 7:09Speaker 2: onto the field and cost them fifteen yards. Of course,
- 7:13Speaker 2: I might leave the stadium with a black eye if
- 7:15Speaker 2: we get the win. It's all all also fair, right.
- 7:18Speaker 6: Unfortunately Texas Tech doesn't have They don't play TCU or
- 7:22Speaker 6: Baylor this year. Who scheduled this? This is ridiculous, the
- 7:25Speaker 6: Big Twelve, The Big Twelve scheduling has been terrible.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Texas Tech has one big game left on their schedule
- 7:30Speaker 2: this year and it's b YU and b YU.
- 7:32Speaker 6: Fans are going to come throw tortillas, Like what are
- 7:35Speaker 6: we doing? So c F fans might, you see F
- 7:37Speaker 6: fans might. But I really wish they would play Baylor
- 7:40Speaker 6: or TCU at home this year, just to see if
- 7:42Speaker 6: some fans of Baylor or TCU would come out there
- 7:45Speaker 6: and throw tortillas.
- 7:46Speaker 7: Yeah, I feel like I really do.
- 7:47Speaker 2: It's the beauty of a conference with sixteen teams and
- 7:50Speaker 2: but protected opponents.
- 7:51Speaker 6: It's not that hard. SEC figured it out. Yeah, all
- 7:54Speaker 6: the big kind I mean, I don't know about Missouri
- 7:57Speaker 6: being a protected opponent for A and M, but you
- 7:59Speaker 6: know what, whatever.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Anyways, we got Texas. Let's let's talk about some SEC games,
- 8:04Speaker 2: shall we? What do we want to you want to
- 8:05Speaker 2: hit on Ole Miss and Oklahoma?
- 8:07Speaker 6: That is that's the game that I feel the weirdest about, honestly.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Yeah, last I saw Oaklah and this was this was
- 8:15Speaker 2: earlier this week, so I don't know if the line
- 8:16Speaker 2: is still this, but last I saw Oklahoma was a
- 8:19Speaker 2: four and a half favorite, five and a half now
- 8:20Speaker 2: it's five and a half now, Okay, but they're they're
- 8:22Speaker 2: they're a slight favorite in this game, not not by
- 8:24Speaker 2: a touchdown but a little over a field goal. So
- 8:26Speaker 2: this is a new noon Eastern game tomorrow, right, so
- 8:30Speaker 2: eleven am kickoff our time on ABC Ole Miss. I'm interested.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Do you see how they're gonna respond after that game
- 8:37Speaker 2: against Georgia and how they lost it, you know, the
- 8:39Speaker 2: heartbreaker of losing it at the end there Ole Miss
- 8:43Speaker 2: needs they're gonna want to bounce back, and they're going
- 8:45Speaker 2: to Oklahoma, who themselves seems to be kind of improving
- 8:52Speaker 2: after they were a little shaky throughout the mid season.
- 8:56Speaker 2: So it's hard for me to decide which way I
- 8:59Speaker 2: think this game team is going to go because they're
- 9:01Speaker 2: both kind of explosive on the offense. I mean, the
- 9:05Speaker 2: loser of this game has probably fallen out of contention
- 9:07Speaker 2: for the CFP. So what are you thinking for this game, Caleb?
- 9:14Speaker 6: So my brain tells me that the wrong team's favored
- 9:17Speaker 6: here because I don't see ole Miss put up thirty
- 9:20Speaker 6: five on Georgia. I don't see an Oklahoma team being
- 9:23Speaker 6: able to keep up with that offense, like I mean,
- 9:25Speaker 6: were six against Texas six?
- 9:27Speaker 2: I mean yes, but Oklahoma, according to what I have here,
- 9:30Speaker 2: they they're the number one total defense in the country.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Oh yeah, they got a great They have a fantastic defense.
- 9:35Speaker 6: I'm not denying that they have a great defense, but
- 9:37Speaker 6: I think ole Miss could do exactly what Texas did
- 9:40Speaker 6: to him and win twenty three to six.
- 9:41Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 9:41Speaker 2: And I'm also curious because in that game against Texas,
- 9:45Speaker 2: where you know, John Mattier, his hand obviously was still
- 9:49Speaker 2: not all the way there if you only put up
- 9:51Speaker 2: six points.
- 9:51Speaker 6: Right, I think this does hinge a lot on John
- 9:53Speaker 6: Mattia as well.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Well, yeah, absolutely, And I'm just wondering if because I
- 9:57Speaker 2: always felt like they rushed him back anyways from that injury,
- 10:00Speaker 2: I mean, what was he out for? Was it six weeks?
- 10:02Speaker 2: Was it even that much? Was it less than that?
- 10:04Speaker 6: I think less than that. It was not a very
- 10:06Speaker 6: long time because they had to buy in there, and
- 10:08Speaker 6: I think they only played like it might have been
- 10:09Speaker 6: four weeks. Yeah, it was really really quick.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Yeah, and I know they beat South Carolina last week,
- 10:13Speaker 2: but it doesn't mean anything. Yeah, it doesn't. Now ole
- 10:17Speaker 2: Miss their their their defense is allowing like five yards
- 10:21Speaker 2: per carry, so it's not the best run defense. So
- 10:25Speaker 2: I don't know. I I really have a hard time
- 10:27Speaker 2: deciding which way this game is going to go. But
- 10:29Speaker 2: if you're thinking ole Miss, then I'll go Oklahoma just
- 10:32Speaker 2: to do the opposite of what you're doing.
- 10:35Speaker 6: Yeah. So my closing thought on this is if Oklahoma's
- 10:40Speaker 6: offense is competent, they can win this game because ole
- 10:42Speaker 6: Miss's defense is not that good. But I don't think
- 10:44Speaker 6: that the oh that the Sooner offense will keep up
- 10:46Speaker 6: with ole Miss.
- 10:47Speaker 2: I want to see the pass rush versus the pass
- 10:50Speaker 2: protection of ole Miss because ole Miss, Uh, they've allowed
- 10:53Speaker 2: like what just seven sacks all year, and OU has
- 10:56Speaker 2: like a fourteen percent sacked right.
- 10:57Speaker 6: Sounds about right.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Yeah, So yeah, I'm gonna take Oklahoma, You'll take Ole
- 11:01Speaker 2: miss We'll see who actually wins this. We'll go to
- 11:03Speaker 2: the next game. I wanted to read Jared's text as well,
- 11:05Speaker 2: because he was talking about the Texas Tech thing. He said,
- 11:08Speaker 2: they'll just start throwing tortilla chips. I mean, yo, give
- 11:12Speaker 2: me some Salceo with that. He's out for that all
- 11:14Speaker 2: the way.
- 11:14Speaker 6: I don't know that those would fly as well.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Yeah, because they you see how they poked the holes
- 11:18Speaker 2: in the center of the torches to get those. Anyways,
- 11:20Speaker 2: let's do Missouri and Vanderbilt.
- 11:23Speaker 6: That's a college game day in Nashville, right, And.
- 11:27Speaker 2: It's not just as people have been saying, it's not
- 11:29Speaker 2: just a charity appearance. And this is actually there.
- 11:32Speaker 6: Yeah, this is this is one of the best games
- 11:34Speaker 6: of the week in my opinion.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I'm gonna actually because I don't want to
- 11:39Speaker 2: spend too much time on this because we got to
- 11:40Speaker 2: get to the A and M game before we get
- 11:42Speaker 2: to Tony and we have a couple of minutes left
- 11:43Speaker 2: on that. But I'm I'm taking Missouri in this game. Really,
- 11:47Speaker 2: you know, I went against Vanderbilt last week and it
- 11:50Speaker 2: burned me. So I I'm probably making a mistake again,
- 11:55Speaker 2: but I'm gonna go with Missouri again.
- 11:58Speaker 6: I mean, I think Diego Pavia has entered his Johnny
- 12:02Speaker 6: Man's own cast. I mean, I know that's who he's
- 12:06Speaker 6: been looking up to for his whole life basically, but
- 12:08Speaker 6: I think he's actually.
- 12:09Speaker 2: And Vanderbilt's defense has been good, but I don't know
- 12:12Speaker 2: that they've really faced a team quite like that. I mean,
- 12:16Speaker 2: but I mean Missouri and Alabama has been great on offense,
- 12:20Speaker 2: and I think holding them to thirty points is fine.
- 12:23Speaker 2: I mean that's not like a great performance, but you know,
- 12:25Speaker 2: they went on the road and played at a tough
- 12:27Speaker 2: game Missouri. Missouri also held Alabama to a close comings
- 12:33Speaker 2: gonna be great. Missouri has played some mobile quarterbacks this
- 12:36Speaker 2: year as well. I mean they've Jalen Daniels for Kansas.
- 12:38Speaker 2: They played Jackson Arnold.
- 12:40Speaker 6: Jackson Arnold's not really that mobile, and that was overtime game.
- 12:43Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, that's fair, but they they they've been
- 12:46Speaker 2: able to handle some mobile quarterbacks this year.
- 12:48Speaker 6: So no, I'm not saying they can't win. I just
- 12:49Speaker 6: think Vanderbilt's got momentum. They're the home team. So the
- 12:54Speaker 6: difference between Vanderbilt and Missou just looking at common opponents.
- 13:00Speaker 6: Built went to Alabama and played a good game. Yeah, lost,
- 13:04Speaker 6: but played a good game. Missouri had them at home
- 13:07Speaker 6: and played a good game. So I look at the
- 13:10Speaker 6: Vanderbilt result and that impresses me more just because of
- 13:13Speaker 6: doing it on the road and they're at home this
- 13:15Speaker 6: week where they just beat LSU. They have all this momentum.
- 13:18Speaker 6: I gotta go with the Commodore's anchor down.
- 13:21Speaker 2: All right, let's hit A and M and LSU. The
- 13:24Speaker 2: big one that we're all talking about this is this
- 13:26Speaker 2: is fun because you have the storylines going into this already.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Where what is it The home team has won eight straight.
- 13:31Speaker 2: When was the last time an M one.
- 13:33Speaker 6: In Death Valley? Eighteen ninety four? It has been a
- 13:35Speaker 6: hot minute, So.
- 13:36Speaker 2: There's some good storylines headed into this game, but this
- 13:39Speaker 2: really feels like it's going to be the year that
- 13:41Speaker 2: that changes.
- 13:43Speaker 6: It is very likely Texas A and M has not
- 13:46Speaker 6: beaten LSU in Death Valley since nineteen ninety four, so
- 13:50Speaker 6: that means that we've since we've been.
- 13:52Speaker 2: The Sea and that's the last time they were seven
- 13:53Speaker 2: and oh right as well.
- 13:55Speaker 6: I think that's right.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Yeah, last time they were seven and oh ninety five
- 13:58Speaker 2: was the last time they were ranked this high.
- 13:59Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, Johnny couldn't do it. The twenty twenty one
- 14:06Speaker 6: team almost pulled it off and then had snatched defeet
- 14:09Speaker 6: from the jaws of victory, as as Aggies tend to do.
- 14:11Speaker 6: But not to sound like a deranged Aggie fan, but
- 14:15Speaker 6: this year's different, I promise, I.
- 14:17Speaker 9: Know it is.
- 14:18Speaker 2: I mean that defensive line of A and M. They
- 14:22Speaker 2: get after you like they get after quarterbacks this year,
- 14:25Speaker 2: and it is a beauty to watch. LSU is not
- 14:29Speaker 2: a great rushing team, nope at all.
- 14:32Speaker 6: So that's definitely what's going to kill them in this
- 14:34Speaker 6: game is if they can't get nus Meyer going in
- 14:37Speaker 6: the passing game. I really don't know what they're going
- 14:39Speaker 6: to do on offense because he's not that mobile, he's
- 14:41Speaker 6: dealing with an injury. The pass rush is going to
- 14:43Speaker 6: be getting after him. I mean, if they can, if
- 14:45Speaker 6: they can have a decent running game, our rushing defense
- 14:48Speaker 6: has been.
- 14:48Speaker 2: Just it is the history. If you can't run the ball,
- 14:50Speaker 2: your offense becomes one dimensional and predictable and you're just cooked. Yeah,
- 14:55Speaker 2: especially against this defense of this caliber, and I do
- 14:59Speaker 2: think that's probably the big g is key to this game.
- 15:01Speaker 6: I think the LSU defense is going to have to
- 15:03Speaker 6: have a generational performance to win this game. Yeah, because
- 15:06Speaker 6: that's the only thing that I see stopping A and M. Yeah,
- 15:08Speaker 6: I don't think they're going to be able to score
- 15:10Speaker 6: more than probably twenty seven twenty eight points is the
- 15:14Speaker 6: maximum I would I could see LSU scoring games game.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Brian Kelly twenty and one in Baton Rouge for night
- 15:20Speaker 2: games and he's also two and eight against ranked teams
- 15:23Speaker 2: or something.
- 15:24Speaker 10: Yeah, so.
- 15:26Speaker 6: I don't remember exactly what the record is, but I
- 15:27Speaker 6: know it's not good.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Yeah, but yeah, we're it sounds like we're both gonna
- 15:31Speaker 2: go with A and M in this game.
- 15:33Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 15:33Speaker 6: I think Marcel Reid will cook once again.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm totally in agreement with you there. So it
- 15:38Speaker 2: should be a fun one.
- 15:39Speaker 6: Ran for three touchdowns against the Tigers last year.
- 15:41Speaker 2: That game is six thirty pm tomorrow and assuming it
- 15:45Speaker 2: doesn't get moved because of weather, which it shouldn't, but
- 15:47Speaker 2: I'm throwing that out there.
- 15:48Speaker 6: After last weekend and we get to maroon out on
- 15:51Speaker 6: the road, we're wearing all Maroos. Yeah, that's legendary. That's
- 15:55Speaker 6: gonna be awesome. I know that's just because LSU wears
- 15:57Speaker 6: white at home, which nobody does, but whatever, But I
- 16:00Speaker 6: love that we get to wear Marin on the road
- 16:01Speaker 6: for sure.
- 16:02Speaker 2: Yeah, that's awesome. Anyways, Uh, Chip and Tony, they are
- 16:05Speaker 2: going to sit down have their conversation, so let's get
- 16:07Speaker 2: into that.
- 16:09Speaker 10: Welcome to the Aggie Football Preview featuring Tony Katalina of
- 16:13Speaker 10: the Austin American Statesman and your host, Chip Howard. The
- 16:17Speaker 10: Aggi Football Preview is presented by Slovacric Sausage and one
- 16:21Speaker 10: above Pest Control.
- 16:24Speaker 1: We're gonna jump out to the players, punch center phone line,
- 16:27Speaker 1: and visit with the writer for The Austin American Statesman,
- 16:30Speaker 1: Tony Catalina. Every game gets bigger this time of year. Tony,
- 16:36Speaker 1: the Aggies escaped fayet Nam last week. Before we get
- 16:41Speaker 1: into LSU, let's talk about that game a little bit
- 16:44Speaker 1: and where that defense came from, which we hadn't seen
- 16:47Speaker 1: frankly since the Notre Dame game.
- 16:50Speaker 3: Yeah, it felt like the perfect storm of adversity there
- 16:53Speaker 3: for A and M's defense. That's a quality of Arkansas
- 16:56Speaker 3: offense with a quality quarterback at home. I mean, look
- 17:00Speaker 3: across the board that Barbarie Petrino group is top five
- 17:03Speaker 3: and most, if not all metrics. So you know, that
- 17:07Speaker 3: is obviously an inexcusable performance from them, and Mike Alco
- 17:10Speaker 3: spoke so and said as much. And the guys understand
- 17:13Speaker 3: that on that side of the ball, that's that wasn't
- 17:16Speaker 3: their standard. But when you look at some of the
- 17:18Speaker 3: different variables, you know, the game being pushed up two hours,
- 17:22Speaker 3: a quality opponent, a quarterback who's playing about as good
- 17:25Speaker 3: a football as he can. It was a tough scene.
- 17:28Speaker 3: But better for A and M to be able to
- 17:31Speaker 3: kind of whether that storm, so to speak, find a
- 17:33Speaker 3: way to still win a football game, lean on their
- 17:35Speaker 3: offense and get out of there with a w, even
- 17:37Speaker 3: if you don't feel too too great about it in
- 17:39Speaker 3: a holistic view.
- 17:41Speaker 1: So it doesn't appear that LSU is capable of putting
- 17:45Speaker 1: together something like that. Any concerns that the defense lost
- 17:50Speaker 1: the little edge in that game last week.
- 17:53Speaker 3: You know, I kind of look at it as the
- 17:55Speaker 3: opposite way, to be honest with you, I see a
- 17:58Speaker 3: team who learned a lesson in victory, and I love
- 18:01Speaker 3: those right, if you're not going to play your best
- 18:03Speaker 3: football and learn a lesson from it. Now, I'm expecting
- 18:07Speaker 3: a really focused defensive group that is eager to go
- 18:11Speaker 3: and show that that's not who they are and that's
- 18:14Speaker 3: not what they're made of. So as far as A
- 18:16Speaker 3: and M, and it comes to motivation and if you
- 18:18Speaker 3: believe that you know motives and all, that really play
- 18:21Speaker 3: a factor in play. And I'm one of those people.
- 18:25Speaker 3: I think they were going to see one of the
- 18:26Speaker 3: best efforts. And this is an LSU offense in an
- 18:29Speaker 3: LSU team situation that can be taken advantage of. And
- 18:33Speaker 3: if A and M comes out there and they got
- 18:35Speaker 3: and they and they got all of their their ducks
- 18:37Speaker 3: in a row, I think they can really put some
- 18:39Speaker 3: stress on that Tiger's offense.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Well, it certainly doesn't appear to have the capability to
- 18:45Speaker 1: do what Arkansas did a week ago.
- 18:48Speaker 3: No, it certainly doesn't, which is you know, perplexing if
- 18:51Speaker 3: you would ask me that. In the preseason I was.
- 18:53Speaker 3: I was really high on Garrett Messmeyer and it seems
- 18:56Speaker 3: that they made some really asserted effort to bring some
- 18:58Speaker 3: weapons in from the trains for portal at the wide
- 19:01Speaker 3: receiver spot, but they just haven't been able to run
- 19:03Speaker 3: the football with efficiency. Their offensive line has really struggled
- 19:07Speaker 3: to protect up front, and they've banged up there. So
- 19:10Speaker 3: I just don't look at this team as a team
- 19:12Speaker 3: that can go shot for shot with A and M
- 19:13Speaker 3: if their offense is on points. So just go out there,
- 19:16Speaker 3: don't you know, shoot yourself on the foot for a
- 19:18Speaker 3: lack of a better term, and just go out there
- 19:20Speaker 3: and play clean football. And I think you walk out
- 19:22Speaker 3: of there with the first victory since nineteen ninety four.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Okay, So there's been a lot of first with this team.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Certainly this year they've proved they can they can do that.
- 19:32Speaker 1: There is a lot of history to overcome at Death Valley,
- 19:36Speaker 1: and that's the thing you wonder about this team. Like
- 19:40Speaker 1: I said that it's passed every test, but this may
- 19:44Speaker 1: be the biggest from the standpoint of just history and
- 19:49Speaker 1: taking better teams into this stadium and coming out losers
- 19:53Speaker 1: over the years.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I think we get the benefit of speaking about it,
- 19:58Speaker 3: but in their mind, I think and I hope that
- 20:00Speaker 3: they're taking it one game at a time. But you
- 20:02Speaker 3: do understand the history here. They haven't fared well there
- 20:05Speaker 3: at Death Valley. It's a night game at LSU, which
- 20:08Speaker 3: always brings its own set of challenges. And if you
- 20:10Speaker 3: look at the way A and M's you know, faltered
- 20:12Speaker 3: down the stretch last year, we're right at that point
- 20:15Speaker 3: where things started to slip for them last season. So
- 20:17Speaker 3: when you look at this team and you look at
- 20:19Speaker 3: how many different you know, rights they've you know, how
- 20:21Speaker 3: many wrongs they've righted this year at Notre Dame against Auburn,
- 20:25Speaker 3: you know, so to speak, this is another chance to
- 20:28Speaker 3: go out there and proved that this year's team is
- 20:30Speaker 3: more complete and better built than last year's team was
- 20:33Speaker 3: that Mike Elko's tenure, and this team is going in
- 20:37Speaker 3: the right direction. So forget about the history while understanding that,
- 20:41Speaker 3: go take care of a business. And I think we're
- 20:43Speaker 3: going to be talking about A and M and this
- 20:44Speaker 3: team and rarefied air for the first time in a
- 20:47Speaker 3: very long time.
- 20:48Speaker 1: We'll continue with Tony Catalina after this. For one above

- 21:56Speaker 1: Our ragging football preview each Friday with the Writer for
- 21:59Speaker 1: The Austin American Statesman, Tomorrow Night Death Valley, LSU Texas
- 22:04Speaker 1: A and m It's been a little while since A
- 22:07Speaker 1: and M has gone to this stadium. Is a slight
- 22:09Speaker 1: favorite as well, Tony.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Yeah, It's that's interesting, right. It kind of just tells
- 22:14Speaker 3: you how well they're playing, and it tells you how
- 22:16Speaker 3: not so well LSU is playing, you know, coming off
- 22:19Speaker 3: of a loss to Vanderville thirty one twenty four, and
- 22:22Speaker 3: in that loss, that was the best offensive you know,
- 22:24Speaker 3: output they've had in conference plays. So it's interesting to
- 22:28Speaker 3: kind of look at this team and you know, obviously
- 22:30Speaker 3: there's pride involved there. So I don't think LSU is
- 22:32Speaker 3: gonna love the idea that a Death Valley night game
- 22:35Speaker 3: they're going to be looked at is underdogs. But you know,
- 22:37Speaker 3: they just haven't earned the right to be a favorite
- 22:39Speaker 3: against this A and M team right now.
- 22:41Speaker 1: What strengths going into this game are you needing A
- 22:49Speaker 1: and M to show to walk out of there with
- 22:52Speaker 1: a win tomorrow night.
- 22:54Speaker 3: It's a great question. I think it's the physicality on
- 22:56Speaker 3: both sides of the ball. I think offensive line. I
- 22:58Speaker 3: think A and M has to find the way to
- 23:00Speaker 3: lean on that LSU defense, and that defense is played
- 23:04Speaker 3: solid this year, like that's one of their better obviously
- 23:07Speaker 3: between the two units that's the better unit there, but
- 23:10Speaker 3: find the way to be physical at the point of
- 23:11Speaker 3: attack on both sides of the ball. Put pressure on
- 23:14Speaker 3: Garrett Smeira with the defensive line on the front seven.
- 23:17Speaker 3: If A and M can come in there and be
- 23:19Speaker 3: the stronger, more physical team, the one that brings the punch,
- 23:22Speaker 3: and you know, is the hammer not the nail. I
- 23:24Speaker 3: think A and M walks out of there over the win.
- 23:26Speaker 3: You know.
- 23:27Speaker 1: I found it interesting earlier this week the local media
- 23:30Speaker 1: on Monday talking to Brian Kelly asking him that question,
- 23:35Speaker 1: especially in his offensive line. How do they get more physical?
- 23:40Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure. I think when you when you got
- 23:42Speaker 3: a team that's playing more passive than aggressive, it's a challenge,
- 23:46Speaker 3: especially in this conference. Now they're banged up up front
- 23:49Speaker 3: and they're trying to mix a mask match and find
- 23:51Speaker 3: the right pieces to keep Garrett Meyer upright and get
- 23:54Speaker 3: some of these playmakers in the football. But it's been
- 23:57Speaker 3: much easier said than done so and A and M
- 24:00Speaker 3: is not the team that you want to have come
- 24:02Speaker 3: into your stadium and try to figure things and get
- 24:05Speaker 3: things right. Because Elko has done a great job of
- 24:07Speaker 3: bringing pressure with four bringing five when they do blitz
- 24:10Speaker 3: they always find themselves in advantageous situation. So it's gonna
- 24:14Speaker 3: get It's gonna be interesting to see how they get deployed.
- 24:17Speaker 3: But much like we talk about A and M all
- 24:19Speaker 3: the time, if they just don't hurt themselves with penalties
- 24:22Speaker 3: and they can keep teams, you know, in long distance
- 24:25Speaker 3: on first and second down, I think A and M
- 24:27Speaker 3: can find a way to pin the ears back, can
- 24:29Speaker 3: get after the quarterback.
- 24:30Speaker 1: How would you describe the season that Marcel raid has
- 24:34Speaker 1: had so far.
- 24:35Speaker 3: Tony, I'm encouraged by it. I think there's been a
- 24:38Speaker 3: lot of growth. I think some of the question marks
- 24:41Speaker 3: he had this you know this camp have been answered.
- 24:45Speaker 3: He's better with football through on the football. He's been
- 24:47Speaker 3: outstanding in the intermediate from that ten to twenty range,
- 24:50Speaker 3: and that's probably his most successful spot right now.
- 24:53Speaker 10: Now.
- 24:53Speaker 3: The deep ball is still a little bit of work
- 24:55Speaker 3: in progress, but I look at that as an encouraging thing.
- 24:57Speaker 3: He's a step or two off of you know, Case
- 25:00Speaker 3: or Mario, whoever it is on the edge. And once
- 25:02Speaker 3: they start hitting those deep balls, and they have begun
- 25:05Speaker 3: to a little bit more as the season has progressed.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Now they become this full arsenal of being able to
- 25:10Speaker 3: throw the football at every depth in every area of
- 25:13Speaker 3: the field. He's making smarter decisions, he looks more comfortable
- 25:17Speaker 3: up there, he looks like he's trusting his offensive line.
- 25:20Speaker 3: So all the things you wanted to see from a
- 25:21Speaker 3: young quarterback in his first year as a starter. I
- 25:24Speaker 3: think he's checked a lot of those boxes.
- 25:26Speaker 1: We had talked about the depth at running back that
- 25:29Speaker 1: would have to step up with Le'Veon Moss out. Last
- 25:34Speaker 1: week we saw EJ. Smith make some big plays.
- 25:37Speaker 10: Yeah, EJ.
- 25:38Speaker 3: Smith, Mari Daniels, you know this, Ruberenohen stepped in as
- 25:42Speaker 3: a lead back. I mean, this is exactly mean, Jami
- 25:45Speaker 3: and Murrow. You can keep going. All four guys toutch
- 25:47Speaker 3: the football. And this is one of those things where
- 25:50Speaker 3: when he came into the year and say, Okay, Le'Veon
- 25:53Speaker 3: Moss is the lead back, but what do we like
- 25:55Speaker 3: about this depth? And there is a lot to like about.
- 25:57Speaker 3: I think some of the questions is is how could
- 26:00Speaker 3: they be Le'Veon was the guy who was always going
- 26:02Speaker 3: to set the tone with his physicality. I think they
- 26:06Speaker 3: answered that call with the way they were running, the physicality,
- 26:09Speaker 3: the way they were playing with inside the tackles. They
- 26:11Speaker 3: were punishing tackle lists for trying to even tackle them.
- 26:14Speaker 3: It was a really encouraging thing to see. And obviously
- 26:17Speaker 3: this is a little tougher test in Arkansas. So if this,
- 26:20Speaker 3: if this running game in the physicality and mentality travels,
- 26:23Speaker 3: I think A and M's gonna be a really good
- 26:24Speaker 3: hands until Moss gets back.
- 26:26Speaker 1: All right, Tony Catalina joins us on Fridays to break
- 26:30Speaker 1: down the Aggies. We'll be back next week. They will
- 26:34Speaker 1: get a little breather next week.
- 26:36Speaker 6: Tony.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Yeah, they're a little well earned by if they can
- 26:39Speaker 3: win this game and get into the bye week eight
- 26:41Speaker 3: and oh before Missouri, I think you feel really good
- 26:44Speaker 3: in agi Land.

- 29:51Speaker 2: But you know what, an A and M wind tomorrow
- 29:53Speaker 2: would cure all absolutely. All right, let's talk a little
- 29:57Speaker 2: bit about the the state of the National Football League
- 30:02Speaker 2: in Texas. Now, I'm gonna try and read all of
- 30:07Speaker 2: my notes that are in front of me. My eyes
- 30:09Speaker 2: have not recovered fully from all of the bleeding that
- 30:11Speaker 2: they did watching the Texans offense on Monday night. Yeah,
- 30:14Speaker 2: but I'll make the best of what I have. Okay,
- 30:17Speaker 2: So in we go to this game on Monday night,
- 30:20Speaker 2: nine o'clock kickoff, as I was saying at the top
- 30:22Speaker 2: of the show, which is just ridiculous for a Monday night.
- 30:24Speaker 2: I understand the games on the West Coast, it's seven
- 30:26Speaker 2: o'clock start there, but the game starts at nine here
- 30:29Speaker 2: ends at twelve thirty. And I'm miserable the next day
- 30:31Speaker 2: because I'm sleep deprived and I am reeling from that loss.
- 30:35Speaker 2: Talk about a team that lifts you up only to
- 30:38Speaker 2: just drop you again, like they start off zero to
- 30:41Speaker 2: three and then it's like, okay, let's go play the Titans.
- 30:43Speaker 2: And the Titans aren't really good, So that should be
- 30:44Speaker 2: an easy win, and they get the easy win, and
- 30:46Speaker 2: then it's like, okay, well, let's go to Baltimore, where
- 30:47Speaker 2: we've never had really good success, never won there before.
- 30:51Speaker 2: But it's Baltimore, so in your mind you're thinking they're
- 30:53Speaker 2: at least a respectable team, right, even though they're not
- 30:55Speaker 2: this year in theory there, but they go and they
- 30:58Speaker 2: light it up and you're like, oh, my goodness, well,
- 31:00Speaker 2: I know Baltimore's bad, but the Texans offense actually actually
- 31:04Speaker 2: looked really good. I mean, the play calling looked like
- 31:06Speaker 2: it was good. They were the running the ball well,
- 31:10Speaker 2: the passing game was working, and you're like, okay, well,
- 31:13Speaker 2: maybe they actually have hope against the Seahawks. And then
- 31:16Speaker 2: it just all comes crashing back down to earth and
- 31:19Speaker 2: they have what is maybe their worst offensive showing of
- 31:23Speaker 2: the season. And I don't think it may not have
- 31:25Speaker 2: been their lowest scoring game of the season, but I
- 31:27Speaker 2: would call it their worst offensive showing of the season
- 31:30Speaker 2: because you have this team out there that just looks lost.
- 31:38Speaker 2: I mean, it's been a story since last year that
- 31:41Speaker 2: they can't protect CJ. Stroudworth a darn That offensive line
- 31:44Speaker 2: is made out of paper, and you know, what paper
- 31:47Speaker 2: might even be harder to run through than that line is.
- 31:50Speaker 2: But the play calling is awful, the protection is awful.
- 31:57Speaker 2: I saw this screenshot on x Twitter, whatever you want
- 32:00Speaker 2: to call it, where CJ. Stroud is looking to throw
- 32:05Speaker 2: and you have the offensive line and there's like three
- 32:08Speaker 2: guys on one guy and then another guy off to
- 32:11Speaker 2: the right that's being blocked quote unquote, and then right
- 32:14Speaker 2: in the middle it's just this defender. It's just a
- 32:16Speaker 2: left white opene b line straight out c J. Stroud
- 32:19Speaker 2: And the caption is like, I'm no expert, but I
- 32:22Speaker 2: don't think this is how it's done. Yeah, I would
- 32:27Speaker 2: lean to say they are right. So when we look
- 32:30Speaker 2: ahead to this game this weekend, which, by the way,
- 32:32Speaker 2: Nico Collins has been officially ruled out for this weekend
- 32:35Speaker 2: with a concussion. Christian Kirk hamstring is also ruled out,
- 32:39Speaker 2: so neither of those two will be playing. Not like
- 32:41Speaker 2: Christian Kirk was making much of a difference anyways, But
- 32:45Speaker 2: how in the world, in what world are the Texans
- 32:50Speaker 2: a two and a half point.
- 32:51Speaker 6: Favorite for this game and it opened at a point
- 32:53Speaker 6: and a half, so it's been big.
- 32:55Speaker 2: That make sense? Is San Francisco really that banged up.
- 33:00Speaker 2: They've got to have their entire starting fifty three man
- 33:02Speaker 2: roster on the injury report.
- 33:04Speaker 6: You would think so. But I mean, if San Francisco
- 33:06Speaker 6: has Christian McCaffrey, I think they're gonna be okay. He
- 33:08Speaker 6: has more receiving yards than rushing yards this year.
- 33:10Speaker 2: I mean, this sounds like the most free money I
- 33:12Speaker 2: bet on San Francisco, free money that I've ever ever seen. Yeah,
- 33:16Speaker 2: in my entire life, because when I'm watching them play
- 33:20Speaker 2: against the Seahawks and it's third down and Nick Cayley's
- 33:24Speaker 2: play call is to run it right into the heart
- 33:26Speaker 2: of the Seattle defense for no gain and then decides
- 33:30Speaker 2: to go on fourth down and says, you know what
- 33:32Speaker 2: I think I'm gonna do. I'm gonna call it the
- 33:34Speaker 2: exact same play and hands it off and literally runs
- 33:38Speaker 2: to the exact same part, does the exact same thing
- 33:42Speaker 2: for the exact same result. There's a word for that,
- 33:44Speaker 2: isn't there?
- 33:45Speaker 6: So insanity?
- 33:46Speaker 2: And then it gets better from there. Then it's down
- 33:50Speaker 2: the stretch and the Texans defense, blessed their heart, managed
- 33:54Speaker 2: to keep them in a position to win this game
- 33:56Speaker 2: all the way into the fourth quarter. It's fourth down,
- 33:59Speaker 2: at the goal and it's is it fourth and three
- 34:02Speaker 2: or fourth and goal and it's like a half a
- 34:07Speaker 2: yard and they get stopped again, stuffed again, and it's
- 34:09Speaker 2: a turnover on downs like that. That was the moment
- 34:12Speaker 2: where I'm like, Okay, this is the epitome of the Texans.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Just failure in all aspects.
- 34:17Speaker 6: Fourth and goal from the one and there was a
- 34:20Speaker 6: false start and then incomplete past.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Yeah that sounds about right. So, oh my goodness, gracious,
- 34:28Speaker 2: I get so riled up when I talk about this
- 34:29Speaker 2: because this team is in year three of C. J.
- 34:31Speaker 6: Stroud.
- 34:32Speaker 2: This is this was the year that they were really
- 34:34Speaker 2: supposed to take that jump because you have all these
- 34:35Speaker 2: guys on their rookie contracts, and I understand that last
- 34:38Speaker 2: year you tried to do it and Stefan Diggs got
- 34:41Speaker 2: hurt and you can't control the injury thing. So fine,
- 34:44Speaker 2: but you had the off season to address that offensive line.
- 34:48Speaker 2: You knew it was terrible, and your solution is to
- 34:52Speaker 2: just shuffle the pieces around, band aids and duct tape
- 34:56Speaker 2: se lobby. It's fixed, and you go and draft wide
- 34:59Speaker 2: receive who they're rookies, and that's gonna be who are
- 35:02Speaker 2: starting ride guess what. We're starting the Iowa State Cyclones
- 35:05Speaker 2: this week. That wide receiver.
- 35:07Speaker 6: That's pretty much what's going on.
- 35:09Speaker 2: So I will circle back to how in the heck
- 35:11Speaker 2: are we favored in this game?
- 35:13Speaker 10: I do not know.
- 35:13Speaker 2: It makes no sense. Like I'm gonna get off the
- 35:15Speaker 2: air and go put a thousand bucks on San Francisco
- 35:18Speaker 2: like San Francis happiness, Happiness, Heedge, happiness, hetch Oh. I'm
- 35:22Speaker 2: a full believer in the happiness hatch.
- 35:24Speaker 6: I do that absolutely.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Like when when the Cougar's played Texas Tech, I put
- 35:28Speaker 2: like money on Texas Tech. So when they lost, I
- 35:32Speaker 2: was like, you know what, at least I got a
- 35:33Speaker 2: little bit of payout.
- 35:34Speaker 3: You know what.
- 35:34Speaker 6: Normally I'm the one that has to be like talked
- 35:37Speaker 6: off a cliff about my sports teams. But it is
- 35:39Speaker 6: fun being on the other side of it because I'm not.
- 35:42Speaker 6: I mean, I like the Texans, but they're not my team.
- 35:44Speaker 6: So I'm a Broncos fan and I feel pretty good
- 35:47Speaker 6: about where we're at.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Oh, bless your heart, dude, I'm jealous.
- 35:51Speaker 6: I never thought bo Nix as a quarterback in the
- 35:53Speaker 6: NFL would be something I would be happy about, But dude,
- 35:56Speaker 6: here we are.
- 35:57Speaker 2: This NFL season makes no sense, like the Colts having
- 35:59Speaker 2: a one sea.
- 36:00Speaker 6: Daniel Jones being being an MVP candidate is.
- 36:03Speaker 2: Everything is just upside down right now. Yah. So they
- 36:08Speaker 2: play this is a noon game, and maybe it's because
- 36:10Speaker 2: the Texans are at home, and maybe that's why they're
- 36:12Speaker 2: favoring them a little bit. But I just don't see
- 36:13Speaker 2: it that that offense has been terrible Nick Cayley, and
- 36:18Speaker 2: they're they're calling for him to be fired already, which
- 36:21Speaker 2: I mean, I didn't think it was possible to downgrade
- 36:22Speaker 2: from Bobby Slowick, but here we are. He's been that bad.
- 36:25Speaker 2: I mean, you can, you can have a bad offensive line,
- 36:28Speaker 2: A good offensive coordinator can at least scheme some way
- 36:33Speaker 2: to mitigate it a little bit like and I understand
- 36:36Speaker 2: they can't protect him with a darn but this is
- 36:39Speaker 2: just bad. I'm bad football.
- 36:42Speaker 6: I know a guy in Arkansas that might, you know,
- 36:44Speaker 6: have some some scheming that would help out here.
- 36:48Speaker 2: You know, it's funny. I made a comment under a
- 36:50Speaker 2: Skip Bayless tweet that got a lot of likes that
- 36:52Speaker 2: if you why don't we just take the Cowboys offense
- 36:56Speaker 2: and Texas defense and then just combine them together and
- 36:58Speaker 2: make one big team for the state of Texas because
- 37:00Speaker 2: that team would probably win the Super Bowl.
- 37:02Speaker 6: It would be good. That was talking about Bobby Petrino though, Yeah,
- 37:06Speaker 6: I mean so I saw. Speaking of tweets, somebody tweeted
- 37:10Speaker 6: about how Auburn has a great defense and Arkansas has
- 37:13Speaker 6: a great offense. Man, imagine if their offensive coordinator and
- 37:17Speaker 6: their defensive coordinator were on the same team with a
- 37:19Speaker 6: coach that could recruit. Well, that's never happened before.
- 37:23Speaker 2: I love those won the National Championship. I love those
- 37:26Speaker 2: shady tweets like that. But it is a rough season
- 37:29Speaker 2: and Texans season at this point is on life support.
- 37:32Speaker 2: And even that's probably being generous. I mean, unless they
- 37:34Speaker 2: go on some insane run where they win like the
- 37:37Speaker 2: next six straight games. Yeah, this season's over and that
- 37:41Speaker 2: is just unacceptable given where this team should be right
- 37:45Speaker 2: now and what they have at their disposal in terms
- 37:48Speaker 2: of quarterback, because for sure people are on CJ. Stroud too,
- 37:51Speaker 2: but I need to see him play with good pass protection.
- 37:55Speaker 2: So that's my take on it. We're going to go
- 37:56Speaker 2: into the Cowboys Report, we'll come back. We'll finish the
- 37:58Speaker 2: show off with police report.

- 38:38Speaker 8: that took place in his initial timetable.
- 38:40Speaker 9: They've been nothing sort of a blessing. I got engaged,
- 38:43Speaker 9: I had a baby boy. Of course, recovering for the
- 38:46Speaker 9: need that was just another thing added to the play.
- 38:48Speaker 9: But I've been there before. I walked by Faith as
- 38:51Speaker 9: I was walking off the field. Actually, you know, some
- 38:54Speaker 9: of the first words I said to my trainer of
- 38:56Speaker 9: Britt Brown, was let me know the timeline, let me
- 38:58Speaker 9: know what I got to do, and I'm gonna beat it.
- 38:59Speaker 9: He was like it might not be a twenty twenty
- 39:02Speaker 9: five season for you, he said, But a guy like you,
- 39:04Speaker 9: we can have you back by midseason if that's what
- 39:06Speaker 9: you really want to do. And I tell him that's
- 39:08Speaker 9: what I want.
- 39:09Speaker 8: And we never look back from the Currently, the optimistic
- 39:12Speaker 8: return day for number zero is week eleven, when the
- 39:14Speaker 8: Cowboys play the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football
- 39:16Speaker 8: at Allegiance Stadium. There's no playing requirements for the NFL's

- 41:55Speaker 2: me right now. He should be back into the studio
- 41:57Speaker 2: here within the next couple of minutes, but it's time
- 42:00Speaker 2: for police reports anyways, and Will Will is not here.
- 42:03Speaker 2: This is his favorite segment. I know he's missing it,
- 42:05Speaker 2: and I hope he's out there listening to this right now.
- 42:07Speaker 2: But we're gonna get into that because it's always fun stuff.
- 42:10Speaker 2: Why don't we start in the state of Florida. Yeah,
- 42:13Speaker 2: Florida always good for entertaining us with some police reports.
- 42:16Speaker 2: This is a story about a cook that was arrested
- 42:19Speaker 2: for stealing secret recipes, because apparently that's a felony in
- 42:24Speaker 2: the state of Florida. That's awfully strange thing to make
- 42:27Speaker 2: a felony. But let's read into this a little bit.
- 42:29Speaker 2: It was a fifty year old line cook in Florida
- 42:32Speaker 2: unnamed Carlos Gottberg, who was arrested after stealing two cookbooks
- 42:37Speaker 2: earlier this month. He took them from the place that
- 42:40Speaker 2: he worked, which was a Venezuelan restaurant called Mordisco Miami.
- 42:45Speaker 2: Now it says he also works at a sandwich and
- 42:48Speaker 2: smoothie shop, but they don't sell Venezuelan food, so it's
- 42:51Speaker 2: unclear what he was planning to do with the cookbooks,
- 42:54Speaker 2: but it sounds like these were secret recipes to some degree.
- 42:57Speaker 2: So he was charged with theft of trade secrets and
- 43:01Speaker 2: made a full confession. Now, in Florida, the theft of
- 43:04Speaker 2: trade secrets is a felony that is punishable by up
- 43:07Speaker 2: to five years in prison and a five thousand dollars fine.
- 43:11Speaker 2: That is a hefty punishment just for stealing some cookbooks. Wow,
- 43:15Speaker 2: let's take it over to Kansas, why don't we. Now,
- 43:17Speaker 2: this is a man who stole the truck in the
- 43:20Speaker 2: state of Kansas and then followed it up by asking
- 43:23Speaker 2: people not to call the cops on him. So he
- 43:26Speaker 2: was arrested over the weekend for doing this. Now, I
- 43:30Speaker 2: guess the truck was low on gas, at least that's
- 43:32Speaker 2: what it sounded like from the story here. He did
- 43:34Speaker 2: not want to go to an actual gas station, so
- 43:37Speaker 2: he stopped at someone's house and asked the person there
- 43:40Speaker 2: if they could spare some gas, and asked them not
- 43:43Speaker 2: to call the cops, because asking someone not to call
- 43:46Speaker 2: the cops is definitely going to make them not want
- 43:48Speaker 2: to call the cops. So it sounds like they did anyways,
- 43:51Speaker 2: because officers showed up spotted the truck with a different
- 43:55Speaker 2: license plate than it had when it was swiped. The
- 43:57Speaker 2: driver was identified and this is actually what he was
- 44:00Speaker 2: identified as. Michael Jackson's guy was definitely not a smooth criminal. Yeah,
- 44:06Speaker 2: you could play the drums for that pun right there.
- 44:08Speaker 2: He was arrested for possessing stolen property.
- 44:13Speaker 3: All right.
- 44:13Speaker 2: This next story is probably my favorite one of the week.
- 44:17Speaker 2: It was a woman. It's actually not even from here
- 44:19Speaker 2: in the States. This is a woman from South Korea
- 44:22Speaker 2: who has an arrest warrant out for her because she
- 44:27Speaker 2: tried to kill a cockroach with a makeshift flamethrower that
- 44:32Speaker 2: sparked a deadly apartment fire on Monday. The woman was
- 44:37Speaker 2: in her twenties. She used a lighter inflammable spray to
- 44:40Speaker 2: eliminate the pest, which is a technique that she has
- 44:44Speaker 2: employed previously, according to this but this time all of
- 44:49Speaker 2: her belongings ignited, engulfing the building, so she lived in
- 44:53Speaker 2: an apartment. A Chinese woman in her thirties died as
- 44:57Speaker 2: a result of this, after falling from a fifth floor
- 45:01Speaker 2: window while attempting to escape with her husband and two
- 45:04Speaker 2: month old baby. The couple successfully did pass their infant
- 45:08Speaker 2: to neighbors in an adjacent building before the husband climbed
- 45:12Speaker 2: to safety. Thick smoke blocked stairway exits, forcing the dangerous
- 45:17Speaker 2: window escape attempt. Eight additional residents suffered smoke inhalation injuries
- 45:22Speaker 2: police plan charges including accidental fire starting and negligent death. Now, look,
- 45:29Speaker 2: as a resident of Texas, and I've lived in this
- 45:32Speaker 2: great state for my entire life, I understand the hatred
- 45:37Speaker 2: for these demonic flying roaches that seemed to infest the
- 45:42Speaker 2: summertime down here. Lord knows the home that I grew
- 45:47Speaker 2: up in towards Houston, they would that home was built
- 45:51Speaker 2: in like the eighties, so those roaches would get in
- 45:53Speaker 2: there a lot. But you can't be using makeshift flamethrowers
- 45:59Speaker 2: to try and kill these things because as you just heard,
- 46:03Speaker 2: it can end very badly, very quickly. So my heart
- 46:07Speaker 2: does go out to the family of that poor lady.
- 46:09Speaker 2: But ough man, all right, back to the state of Florida.
- 46:12Speaker 2: We have a Florida man that was charged with breaking
- 46:16Speaker 2: into homes while nude. Joshua Neil Garrison, thirty four year
- 46:22Speaker 2: old Florida man, faces multiple burglary charges after allegedly targeting
- 46:27Speaker 2: homes while naked in a Florida neighborhood. Now it says
- 46:32Speaker 2: the incidents began October seventh, when residents reported a nude
- 46:36Speaker 2: man forcing entry into homes near ninety seventh Circle North
- 46:42Speaker 2: neighbor David Dale told local news station quote, I answered
- 46:46Speaker 2: the door and there was a guy standing there and
- 46:49Speaker 2: he was stark naked. The man's truck window was smashed
- 46:54Speaker 2: and house lights damaged. The suspects apparently went into another
- 47:00Speaker 2: person's shed, grabbed an axe, and came back onto that
- 47:03Speaker 2: person's porch. They don't know why he didn't use it,
- 47:06Speaker 2: but surveillance footage did capture the man moving through yards
- 47:10Speaker 2: and attempting to open windows. They say. Police continue investigating
- 47:14Speaker 2: as Garrison remains in custody. I would be willing to
- 47:17Speaker 2: bet that there were some other factors at play here,
- 47:23Speaker 2: specifically some that was snorted.
- 47:27Speaker 1: Florida.
- 47:28Speaker 2: Gotta love Florida, right, And I guess we're staying in
- 47:30Speaker 2: Florida because we have another Florida man that was arrested.
- 47:35Speaker 2: Now he had a no drugs Allowed sign on his
- 47:39Speaker 2: door and was busted for drug trafficking. Caleb, welcome back
- 47:42Speaker 2: to the studio. I'm gonna put you on that mic
- 47:45Speaker 2: right here because it's gonna be really hard for us
- 47:46Speaker 2: to flip place around here.
- 47:47Speaker 6: Look at me.
- 47:48Speaker 2: I'm the captain.
- 47:48Speaker 6: Now, okay, I'm the captain.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Now.
- 47:50Speaker 2: Oh I'm here. You can read this last one.
- 47:52Speaker 6: I'll go that one to you.
- 47:52Speaker 2: You can do this after I finished reading this one
- 47:54Speaker 2: that I have here. This is a seventy six year
- 47:56Speaker 2: old man in Florida named John Moss who had a
- 48:00Speaker 2: sign at the front of his house that said absolutely
- 48:03Speaker 2: no drugs allowed on the premises. So, yeah, you could
- 48:06Speaker 2: probably see where this is going. He was arrested and
- 48:09Speaker 2: hit with multiple charges of drug trafficking after a search
- 48:13Speaker 2: of his home turned up a ton of drugs on
- 48:16Speaker 2: his premises. Detectives found thirty two ounces of cocaine, thirty
- 48:21Speaker 2: six grams of oxy cotton, four hundred and forty two
- 48:25Speaker 2: grams of marijuana, seventeen grams of alprazolzam I don't even
- 48:31Speaker 2: know if I'm pronouncing that right, six grams of morphine,
- 48:34Speaker 2: four grams of methamphetamine, and also had twenty thousand dollars
- 48:37Speaker 2: in cash and multiple handguns. It is unclear what tipped
- 48:40Speaker 2: off the authorities, but they clearly were not dissuaded by
- 48:44Speaker 2: his self proclaimed drug free zone. People in Florida are
- 48:49Speaker 2: just crazy, aren't they.
- 48:50Speaker 6: I Mean, we always have Florida man stories on this show.
- 48:53Speaker 2: This is like the fourth one I've read. Yeah, said,
- 48:56Speaker 2: what you were out there like they always come from Florida.
- 48:58Speaker 2: What's the one I usen is not from Florida. This
- 49:01Speaker 2: one is in New York. So Playland Park. This was
- 49:05Speaker 2: last month, just north of Manhattan, right on the beach.
- 49:09Speaker 2: Three idiots, This is the headline. Three idiots broke into
- 49:12Speaker 2: an amusement park and stole two hundred stuffed animals. So
- 49:16Speaker 2: for all of you that have wasted way too much
- 49:18Speaker 2: money trying to win those cheap prizes at a carnival,
- 49:22Speaker 2: here's your justice. Two hundred stuffed animals were stolen from
- 49:26Speaker 2: Playland Park in Westchester County, New York.
- 49:30Speaker 6: They're still looking for them, but security cameras got clear
- 49:33Speaker 6: shots of their faces. It was just before midnight, is
- 49:36Speaker 6: what the police say. When they hoped the fence cut
- 49:38Speaker 6: a bunch of cables in the control room, cramped two
- 49:41Speaker 6: hundred stuffed animals into garbage bags and left. They also
- 49:45Speaker 6: tried to tip a photo booth off the boardwalking onto
- 49:48Speaker 6: the beach, but it was too heavy. One of them
- 49:51Speaker 6: was into Virginia Tequity. Just that's definitely a detail we
- 49:54Speaker 6: needed to.
- 49:54Speaker 2: Know, dude. Those carnival games are so rigged. Absolutely, Like
- 49:57Speaker 2: I totally get what they're They're going out there with that,
- 50:00Speaker 2: so I mean, yeah, they're criminals. But that's probably the
- 50:04Speaker 2: least defensive story that I've read today.
- 50:06Speaker 6: Yeah, that's fair.
- 50:07Speaker 2: Here's another one and this one. I guess we're going
- 50:09Speaker 2: back to Florida. Yeah, we sure are. Jennifer Clever, fifty
- 50:14Speaker 2: four year old woman was arrested on Monday for defrauding
- 50:17Speaker 2: and innkeeper after refusing to pay her twenty seven dollar
- 50:21Speaker 2: and fifty five cent meal at Daryl's Dog Gone Good
- 50:26Speaker 2: Diner in Silver Springs, Florida. She told officers that she
- 50:30Speaker 2: was married to rapper Eminem and claimed he would cover
- 50:33Speaker 2: the bill. The restaurant manager said that this woman had
- 50:37Speaker 2: multiple unpaid tabs at the establishment. Her order included French toast,
- 50:42Speaker 2: a bacon, cheese sandwich, soda, and chocolate milk. He said
- 50:47Speaker 2: that she only paid ten dollars, No, she didn't even pay,
- 50:50Speaker 2: that she only had ten dollars and believed that Eminem
- 50:53Speaker 2: had unlimited money because he allegedly paid for her meals
- 50:57Speaker 2: before she was booked at a local jail. Eminem as
- 51:00Speaker 2: not married to Klepper and is reportedly dating his hairstyle
- 51:03Speaker 2: or his stylist. Katrina Malota.
- 51:05Speaker 6: I did not know that. Actually neither did I.
- 51:08Speaker 2: So yeah, I don't think this woman is getting any
- 51:09Speaker 2: free meals from Eminem.
- 51:11Speaker 6: Probably not.
- 51:12Speaker 2: Here's another one I have for you. And this is
- 51:14Speaker 2: again out of Florida. This's got to be some kind
- 51:16Speaker 2: of record. These are all Florida stories. Today, we have
- 51:20Speaker 2: twenty seven year old Florida man named Taylor Noop who
- 51:23Speaker 2: was arrested for, oh my goodness, gracious, having disturbing photos
- 51:29Speaker 2: of toddlers and infants with alcohol, marijuana, and firearms. The
- 51:34Speaker 2: photos are staged and the kids were too young to
- 51:36Speaker 2: understand what was happening. But they're shocking, especially the ones
- 51:39Speaker 2: posed with guns. Yes, Taylor denied taking all the photos,
- 51:44Speaker 2: but admitted to staging some of them quote as a joke.
- 51:47Speaker 2: It's unknown who took the photos. If he didn't, Yeah,
- 51:50Speaker 2: I don't really know how you get out of that one.
- 51:52Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 51:52Speaker 2: He did admit to being quote aware of the photos
- 51:54Speaker 2: and confirmed that the marijuana was real, although he claimed
- 51:57Speaker 2: it was someone else's. For what it's worth. Officials also
- 52:01Speaker 2: noted that his residence was unsafed, with exposed wiring, unfinished
- 52:05Speaker 2: plywood walls, and a partially missing ceiling. Well, clearly the
- 52:10Speaker 2: welfare of those kids is the bigger deal than that.
- 52:12Speaker 2: I mean, that's just insane. I mean, Florida people are
- 52:17Speaker 2: another special They're a different breed for sure. Dude, when
- 52:21Speaker 2: was the when was the last time I've been to Florida.
- 52:23Speaker 2: It's been I've never been. I was in Key West.
- 52:25Speaker 2: I was in Key West for a cruise. But that
- 52:27Speaker 2: doesn't count.
- 52:28Speaker 6: Yeah, Key West doesn't.
- 52:29Speaker 3: Is that not?
- 52:29Speaker 6: That doesn't count as Florida? Is that where we're going with?
- 52:32Speaker 2: I mean, it's Florida, but I don't count that as
- 52:34Speaker 2: like actual Florida.
- 52:36Speaker 6: I mean, I don't know. I watched Roadhouse and that
- 52:37Speaker 6: seemed I'm just kidding. I'm not using Roadhouse as actual
- 52:41Speaker 6: educational material.
- 52:42Speaker 2: You weren't in here when I talked about the uh
- 52:44Speaker 2: South Korean woman that burned her apartment down trying to
- 52:48Speaker 2: kill a cockroach.
- 52:49Speaker 6: Wow, that's that's intense.
- 52:52Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 52:53Speaker 2: Anyways, dude, I wish you had been in here because
- 52:56Speaker 2: I actually just burned through all my police reports. That's
- 52:59Speaker 2: what I had for the weeks. So let's let's kill
- 53:01Speaker 2: two minutes.
- 53:02Speaker 6: We're good at that. We are very good at that.
- 53:05Speaker 6: Anybody that missed it. Bobashet will be playing tonight in
- 53:09Speaker 6: the World Series. He was out for see all of
- 53:11Speaker 6: the playoffs, I think since September was when he went
- 53:14Speaker 6: out onto the aisle. But he will be starting at
- 53:16Speaker 6: second base and batt and clean up tonight. Okay, good,
- 53:19Speaker 6: that'll be interesting. Good for him.
- 53:22Speaker 2: I hate it when players get injured, you know, regardless
- 53:24Speaker 2: of who they play for, because that's the one thing
- 53:26Speaker 2: that you never want to see, right, you know, off
- 53:28Speaker 2: of a team, regardless of what the team is, you
- 53:30Speaker 2: never want to see players get injured because that's above
- 53:32Speaker 2: the actual game itself. Yeah, so I'm glad that he's
- 53:34Speaker 2: going to be able to play, and it's better for
- 53:36Speaker 2: the game, for the series when everybody's healthy and you
- 53:39Speaker 2: don't have these questions of, oh, well, what if he
- 53:41Speaker 2: had played right right?
- 53:43Speaker 6: Yeah, there would be a lot of Blue Jays fans,
- 53:45Speaker 6: you know. I mean, even if they lose, he's probably
- 53:48Speaker 6: not one hundred percent, so they can still they'll still
- 53:50Speaker 6: have that to fall back on, honestly. But yeah, definitely
- 53:54Speaker 6: good to see him healthy. This is the first time
- 53:58Speaker 6: in his major league career that he'll be playing second base, though,
- 54:00Speaker 6: so that'll be interesting.
- 54:01Speaker 2: Okay, I you know what, major league players can be
- 54:04Speaker 2: very versatile, So yeah, no, I think you'll handle it.
- 54:07Speaker 6: I think any major league baseball player, especially in the infielder,
- 54:10Speaker 6: can play pretty much any position. Like I know, it's different,
- 54:13Speaker 6: but they're athletic enough, they're savvy enough that they can
- 54:16Speaker 6: definitely make it happen.
- 54:17Speaker 2: Yes, for sure. Anyways, I guess that's gonna wrap up
- 54:20Speaker 2: the show. Caleb, I need you to come back around
- 54:21Speaker 2: here and press the button so that I don't take
- 54:23Speaker 2: us off the air, because you're.
- 54:24Speaker 6: Not really good at pressing buttons.
- 54:26Speaker 2: So Caleb's gonna come over here. We're gonna get out
- 54:28Speaker 2: of here. Close this off on a Friday. Will I
- 54:30Speaker 2: think we'll be back next week. He hasn't confirmed that
- 54:33Speaker 2: with me. If he's not, maybe it'll be Caleb, but
- 54:35Speaker 2: maybe it'll be just me. We figure it out on
- 54:37Speaker 2: the fly because we're just like that. But hope everybody
- 54:40Speaker 2: has a fantastic weekend. Beat the hell out of LSU. Hey.
