- 0:47Speaker 4: Studio and you need to make us say words.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Here's the thing. It would have been worse if the

- 0:58Speaker 5: There's a little bit of like by not by much,
- 1:01Speaker 5: not because here's something that is standing there.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Yes, then that's insulting because I think about this every
- 1:08Speaker 3: time I have to go on campus. Okay, I have
- 1:12Speaker 3: to go up to you and R and I try
- 1:14Speaker 3: to avoid campus because when I walk through there, I
- 1:18Speaker 3: do people think it's thrown at him.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Everything flirst.
- 1:25Speaker 5: But you don't get professor no, because I don't think
- 1:29Speaker 5: i'm I don't think I look like a professor wearing
- 1:33Speaker 5: it's just usual dad, stop wearing.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Just a red vest. Yes, yeah, the looks like you
- 1:41Speaker 3: are really strange. I walk around campus.
- 1:43Speaker 4: I'm a few years younger than you, and but you
- 1:47Speaker 4: look like, okay, thanks, are we hurting each other now?
- 1:52Speaker 3: But we've never done that before. You're doing like a professor. No,
- 1:56Speaker 3: I feel like, yeah, because you were like jacket. I
- 1:59Speaker 3: feel like I'm dressed more like, what do you wearing?
- 2:02Speaker 3: What do you wear? More casual?
- 2:04Speaker 2: Like?
- 2:04Speaker 3: I got some jeans and fucking uh shirt, but usually
- 2:10Speaker 3: just like a polo shirt.
- 2:11Speaker 5: And some Okay, well, you're wrong, so let me use
- 2:14Speaker 5: how confused is about this stuff? He's on the wrong
- 2:18Speaker 5: that I thought you're walking onto a college campus.
- 2:22Speaker 4: Is a forty something wearing a fucking pop collar and jeans,
- 2:26Speaker 4: You're dumb like you clearly should be wearing a jacket. Okay,
- 2:31Speaker 4: why for what purpose? Understand your age?
- 2:37Speaker 3: Campus? And I'm dressed like this? Is that inappropriate? You're great?
- 2:41Speaker 4: First off, You're always great. I'm wearing shorts and a
- 2:44Speaker 4: T shirt and a baseball and fucking killing it. Okay,
- 2:47Speaker 4: I start with I look fantastic. Let's start with that,
- 2:50Speaker 4: no doubt about it. If I could change one thing again,
- 2:54Speaker 4: a slight nudge. Not my place to suggest it, but
- 2:58Speaker 4: if you were asking, would.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Which I am? If i'm if?
- 3:01Speaker 5: I am just gonna go down tomorrow after Monday afternoon
- 3:05Speaker 5: and just and just walk around the campus of un
- 3:08Speaker 5: l V. Yes, take a nice stroll around un ov's
- 3:10Speaker 5: campus for say half an hour, okay, and just you know,
- 3:13Speaker 5: just the.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Just the the area.
- 3:15Speaker 5: Maybe check it out, maybe see if I want to
- 3:17Speaker 5: recommend that to any of my younger family members for
- 3:19Speaker 5: their college pursuits.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Understood.
- 3:22Speaker 4: If you came to me as a friend, he said, Jim,
- 3:26Speaker 4: you see me wearing my tennis, my shorts, no one's uh,
- 3:32Speaker 4: would you recommend anything? I'd say, yep.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Let me get a little jacket on you. Now that's fine.
- 3:38Speaker 3: So you so you'd recommend a little more formality. Now
- 3:40Speaker 3: I get a jacket on you. Let me get the
- 3:42Speaker 3: double pocket button up. So nice sport coke.
- 3:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess that's what I'm going for. I don't
- 3:48Speaker 4: know if that's always the.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Right one question?
- 3:51Speaker 4: Okay, yes, why it distinguishes impressing? Well, it's not impressive,
- 3:57Speaker 4: and benefit do I get from it? Ignore that I
- 4:02Speaker 4: am not a student. I am in the group of
- 4:06Speaker 4: people who explain information.
- 4:09Speaker 3: So even if you're number, what I'm learning is that's
- 4:12Speaker 3: important to Jim, That's what I'm learning.
- 4:17Speaker 4: Listen, do you want the vibes or fucking nuts? Okay,
- 4:19Speaker 4: So Whitney has guest taught in my class, She's shown
- 4:23Speaker 4: up stress.
- 4:24Speaker 3: She is always stressed.
- 4:26Speaker 4: I feel like the last time you showed up where
- 4:27Speaker 4: you were in a hoodie.
- 4:30Speaker 5: I have guests taught at quite a few universities, which okay,
- 4:35Speaker 5: But here's the difference when Whitney shows up.
- 4:37Speaker 4: No, there is a difference. You're you're gonna be underwhelmed,
- 4:44Speaker 4: and Whitney will agree. When when Whitney shows up, she
- 4:47Speaker 4: is undercover, so she's not They do not know that
- 4:50Speaker 4: she is explaining anything to them. Do you not know
- 4:53Speaker 4: that she's a lecturer. They think that she's a regular
- 4:56Speaker 4: patient who is volunteered to let me do an intake
- 4:59Speaker 4: session with her. So you believe the hoodie is part
- 5:01Speaker 4: of her disguise. I'm part of her character. That's what
- 5:04Speaker 4: I'm saying. Yeah, no, I'm fine with it, but like
- 5:06Speaker 4: if she were presenting herself, Like when Nick shows up,
- 5:09Speaker 4: he usually shows up a little bit dressed higher than Whitney.
- 5:14Speaker 4: But that actually works because Whitney's there to sort of
- 5:17Speaker 4: not give.
- 5:19Speaker 5: I'm gonna take a picture of myself before Jim the
- 5:22Speaker 5: next time I am staying in front.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Of a college lecture hall.
- 5:26Speaker 4: Nick, is your own fucking fault that you feel out
- 5:29Speaker 4: of place on a god campus. You can just wear
- 5:31Speaker 4: a fucking elbow patch jacket and that's on you.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Yeah, but I'm not going to pack that just to
- 5:36Speaker 3: walk around on campus.
- 5:38Speaker 4: So anyway, Nick, what what else is going on?
- 5:43Speaker 3: His guns? I don't spend time there. I usually just
- 5:46Speaker 3: have to go there walk through real quick to pick
- 5:49Speaker 3: something up, Like I had to take my laptop in
- 5:51Speaker 3: to get it worked on. Like I'm not spending I don't.
- 5:57Speaker 4: I'm just I don't understand any part of Look, the
- 6:01Speaker 4: point is you are solidly in your forties, which is
- 6:06Speaker 4: why I'm holding out card. This orange card which Jacob
- 6:12Speaker 4: Whitney and I have.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Is the day of your birth, which is coming. Thanks,
- 6:21Speaker 3: So why do.
- 6:21Speaker 4: You tell everybody. Hold you're going to be as you
- 6:23Speaker 4: open up this. Okay, there we go, thank you, thank you.
- 6:31Speaker 3: My my birthday is in July, but thank you, oh
- 6:36Speaker 3: very be on top of it.
- 6:37Speaker 1: I don't be late.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Well yeah, I'd rather be early than like the whole bit.
- 6:42Speaker 1: That's yeah.
- 6:43Speaker 4: The thing.
- 6:44Speaker 3: I'm going to be sixty two years old.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Amazing for you.
- 6:49Speaker 4: He does, he does not a day over there. It
- 6:54Speaker 4: is not a day over six zero, my man, So good.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Why don't you we that out to us, buddy, all right,
- 7:02Speaker 3: from all of us. Years from now you can look
- 7:04Speaker 3: back at it and say, who are these people have?
- 7:09Speaker 4: Yep, the camera, Jacob and Whitney, there it is. We're
- 7:13Speaker 4: still practicing cameras and uh, thank you.
- 7:17Speaker 3: We're doing so good. What's the card there, buddy? All Lows,
- 7:21Speaker 3: thank you, You're welcome.
- 7:24Speaker 1: History amount you have to guess there was.
- 7:26Speaker 3: There was a quick text discussion about what to get you. Yeah,
- 7:30Speaker 3: we're like yo.
- 7:31Speaker 5: I think Joe suggested we get you a gift card
- 7:33Speaker 5: and Joe was like golf something maybe, And I think
- 7:37Speaker 5: the immediate follow up was Whitney just going like Lows, Yeah,
- 7:41Speaker 5: I was just that Lows like two hours ago. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 7:45Speaker 5: there was colored.
- 7:48Speaker 3: So here's the thing. Here's the thing. So I have
- 7:51Speaker 3: a little patch of grass. Oh, it's about fourteen feet
- 7:55Speaker 3: by eighteen. This is real grass. Is real grass, and Nevada.
- 7:59Speaker 2: That is to get people to put grass in our backyard,
- 8:02Speaker 2: even a little two foot.
- 8:03Speaker 5: Then they were to get underground, like you got to
- 8:06Speaker 5: hire illegal people.
- 8:07Speaker 3: So we got we because we got somebody coming in
- 8:10Speaker 3: to work on the backyard and we talked about doing
- 8:12Speaker 3: something different to the front. And the guy's like, you've
- 8:15Speaker 3: got natural grass. He's like, don't touch it. Don't He's like,
- 8:17Speaker 3: because the moment you take it out, you can't put
- 8:20Speaker 3: it back in. Yes, like you've got it. You got
- 8:22Speaker 3: a hold on it. That's true. So because it's fourteen
- 8:25Speaker 3: by eighteen estimate, okay estimating, it's such a manageable size
- 8:31Speaker 3: that I can spend a ship ton of time on it.
- 8:34Speaker 3: And so like, I love my grass. I've got it.
- 8:38Speaker 3: I've got it. It is. It is cut so nice
- 8:42Speaker 3: and it's really what the fuck how I can't wait
- 8:51Speaker 3: for it? With a lawnmower, you have a whole ass lawnmower. Yeah,
- 8:57Speaker 3: this grass.
- 8:57Speaker 5: I have an electric one. Okay, okay, use this room.
- 9:01Speaker 5: To tell me how big this grass?
- 9:02Speaker 3: It's about eight this.
- 9:03Speaker 5: Room byeen by eighteen about the numbers I've been saying
- 9:09Speaker 5: for the last Yeah.
- 9:10Speaker 3: I don't know those. What is this?
- 9:11Speaker 5: It's about the size of this room. Okay, the whole grass.
- 9:15Speaker 5: You have a whole grass the size of this room.
- 9:17Speaker 3: WHOA, yeah, I don't know. You're a millionaire. Yeah, that's
- 9:21Speaker 3: I'm a pretty big deal.
- 9:22Speaker 5: No ship, Yeah that's huge. So I was at loses
- 9:28Speaker 5: today because I needed I needed to get take over here.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Living his best life with all his I had to
- 9:36Speaker 3: figure out first. So I had to get some some
- 9:38Speaker 3: grassy because I got one little patch that's just not
- 9:40Speaker 3: coming in very well. And so I have to figure
- 9:43Speaker 3: out is this It's either it's either long fescue or
- 9:47Speaker 3: it's bermuda. And I'm not one hundred percent sure, but
- 9:50Speaker 3: I figured it out. It is uh. It is uh,
- 9:54Speaker 3: it's a different it is fescue.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Hold on, may I understand this again? Forgive me ever
- 10:00Speaker 4: understood grass? Never had it? Okay, in your room, size
- 10:05Speaker 4: of grass, you have a portion that's not the same species.
- 10:09Speaker 3: It's all the same. But I couldn't figure I need
- 10:12Speaker 3: to plant some new grass. I need to got it.
- 10:19Speaker 4: Okay, so you need to figure out what the whole
- 10:21Speaker 4: thing is before you funk around and find out.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Did you figure it out? How do you know? So
- 10:29Speaker 3: I'm glad you asked delay. Uh no, this is this
- 10:35Speaker 3: is good. This is good. Thank you. We're going to
- 10:37Speaker 3: delay these questions. I'm gonna let the listener know how
- 10:41Speaker 3: to identify your grass.
- 10:43Speaker 6: If you look closely at fescue, Okay, you're not going
- 10:48Speaker 6: to see like a vein that goes right down the
- 10:52Speaker 6: middle the big right.
- 10:55Speaker 3: You're going to see a lot lots of veins going
- 10:58Speaker 3: all the way down the blade, even spaced out. That's
- 11:01Speaker 3: a sign that it's fescue. So that's one of the
- 11:03Speaker 3: ways that you would know.
- 11:04Speaker 4: Yeah, so then you figured it out. Yeah, part that
- 11:08Speaker 4: was bad.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Bermuda kind of spreads this way because so there's roots
- 11:12Speaker 3: that go underground and then there's roots that go over
- 11:15Speaker 3: the ground. Okay, And so Bermuda's is what they use
- 11:18Speaker 3: on the golf course because you can cut it really,
- 11:21Speaker 3: really really short. That's exciting. Man.
- 11:24Speaker 4: Honestly, do you have an entire studio because this is
- 11:28Speaker 4: no joke.
- 11:28Speaker 5: This is all going towards grass. Yeah, there was second,
- 11:32Speaker 5: then kind this is.
- 11:34Speaker 2: I want.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Jacob, do you have real grass? It's not imaginary? Well,
- 11:41Speaker 3: but I thought, I haven't been out there in a while.
- 11:43Speaker 4: It's all it's all fake grass. Yeah, you have fake grass.
- 11:45Speaker 4: What do you have Whitney Rocks and I have fake grass.
- 11:49Speaker 4: So the fact that he had.
- 11:51Speaker 2: We had some fake grass in the backyard. But I
- 11:53Speaker 2: know the previous owners dogs peede all over it.
- 11:55Speaker 3: So to get it is that bad? It's the dog.
- 11:58Speaker 3: You can't it's hard to get the smell out.
- 12:00Speaker 4: The cheapst it's real grass, the cheapost stuff. And yeah, yeah,
- 12:03Speaker 4: it's yeah, that's incredible. Like honestly, it's such a flex
- 12:07Speaker 4: in Las Vegas that you have like whatever, one hundred
- 12:10Speaker 4: and fifty square feet of real grass.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Oh, it's a completely alien to my thought.
- 12:16Speaker 5: Yeah, if I had real, no idea anywhere on my property,
- 12:19Speaker 5: it would have been gone by, Like I would have
- 12:22Speaker 5: just turned it. If I would have just turned the
- 12:26Speaker 5: water off and been like it's all gonna die.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Yeah, or do anything it's gonna die.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Be really hard to keep alive.
- 12:34Speaker 5: Yeah, I was like, I mean, first of all, putting
- 12:36Speaker 5: it in, like putting putting the grass into this area,
- 12:39Speaker 5: from like my yard would have been I think like
- 12:42Speaker 5: half the cost of the fake grass, maybe a little
- 12:45Speaker 5: less than half the cost, even with all the irrigation
- 12:47Speaker 5: and everything.
- 12:48Speaker 3: Uh, but then it would have been that cost.
- 12:52Speaker 5: You know again, it would be like fifty percent of
- 12:53Speaker 5: that cost again like every year.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Oh yep, just because you're like preceding.
- 12:58Speaker 5: Every year and the water bill and like all that
- 13:00Speaker 5: kind of stuff. Like here you were not allowed to
- 13:03Speaker 5: water more than once a week. It's so like you
- 13:08Speaker 5: just can't keep grass alive. Okay, So my fake grass
- 13:13Speaker 5: looks great.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, and I don't have to know. I
- 13:16Speaker 3: wish it.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Cooled though, like I feel like mine really.
- 13:20Speaker 5: Mine does talk after that, it doesn't cool as well
- 13:24Speaker 5: as as real grass does it. It hadn't like cleared
- 13:26Speaker 5: that hurdle. But this is a lot like my old house.
- 13:29Speaker 5: We had fake grass that would burn your feet.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Oh I have that.
- 13:34Speaker 5: You can walk on it barefoot in the in the summer.
- 13:37Speaker 5: It's warm, really not painful.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Jesus, all right, we'll later.
- 13:41Speaker 4: Get a titanium or some ship. Anyway, Listen, I'm rooting
- 13:45Speaker 4: for you.
- 13:45Speaker 3: But because birthday, thank you in that box up, Robert.
- 13:55Speaker 3: It is a dick in a box, is it? It
- 13:58Speaker 3: might very well be a dick. I would Hi, Nick
- 14:01Speaker 3: and Jim. I've been shopping a lot at Bull Moose,
- 14:04Speaker 3: a record store o collecting physical media. I got copies
- 14:07Speaker 3: of Aren't Ego and Battlefield Earth for dirt cheap.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Oh my god, thank you? Okay, I was a feeling
- 14:14Speaker 1: offended at no longer.
- 14:16Speaker 3: These are four and then it says for your viewing pleasure,
- 14:21Speaker 3: and then that's scratched out and it just says for
- 14:23Speaker 3: your viewing pleasure. Robert Brownie p s. The folks at
- 14:29Speaker 3: Bull Moose are professional and kind, but even they couldn't
- 14:32Speaker 3: hide the judgment in their eyes when I set Battlefield
- 14:36Speaker 3: Earth on the counter. What oh, I have watched? What
- 14:45Speaker 3: are we looking at here? We got two? Have you
- 14:50Speaker 3: never seen Battlefielders? Show? Yes?
- 14:56Speaker 4: And Forrest Whittaker. We're not watching Battlefield to watch award?
- 15:02Speaker 1: Okay after party?
- 15:04Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, there's no way I'm talking about Yeah, look
- 15:08Speaker 3: at it.
- 15:12Speaker 4: Yes, okay, legitimate.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Why don't you open up the other one, bud? That
- 15:20Speaker 3: that's oh yeah, oh, Robert, you don't even know what
- 15:25Speaker 3: you've done to me. Baby, I'm so excited, thank you
- 15:28Speaker 3: so much. Let me get in there.
- 15:32Speaker 5: That's down here, him hitting his microphone to the DVD case.
- 15:36Speaker 4: Look at it, Look at look at this, gentleman. I
- 15:40Speaker 4: don't know if you guys know, but that's Oscar Award
- 15:43Speaker 4: nominee John Travolta, also Oscar Award nominee Forrest Whittaker. And
- 15:51Speaker 4: if you weren't racist, you'd support this movie, okay. And
- 15:56Speaker 4: if you believed in God, because apparent.
- 16:00Speaker 3: But if you love America, America, that's an easy choice.
- 16:07Speaker 3: I'm so excited.
- 16:11Speaker 4: Yeah, oh ship, it's got chapters, scene index, God.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Damn all right, let's move on.
- 16:18Speaker 5: It would have been really funny if that case had
- 16:20Speaker 5: not had a dvdholder. Robert, you missed the Just send
- 16:26Speaker 5: me the empty box. Here's the case, the empty but honestly.
- 16:31Speaker 3: In like condition. Motherfucker is it rewound? It's Battlefield earth
- 16:38Speaker 3: hold on. What's that?
- 16:41Speaker 5: Don't tell me we have two copies of battle what? Okay? Okay,
- 16:53Speaker 5: I would draw my judgment a little move there at the.
- 16:55Speaker 2: End Browne, Okay, that it was awesome.
- 17:03Speaker 3: I don't even look at it.
- 17:06Speaker 1: How funny you put that.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Barry Pepper fucking running from explosions. Oh my god, it's
- 17:11Speaker 3: so good. I just convert Scientology.
- 17:16Speaker 5: No, I'm looking at the production company that produced Battlefield
- 17:19Speaker 5: Earth and oh, that's just a joke company.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Okay, that's your opinion, man, No it's not. It's it's
- 17:25Speaker 3: the opinion of the things that I looked up.
- 17:29Speaker 5: Production company is produced by a company called Franchise Pictures,
- 17:32Speaker 5: who specialized in rescuing stars pet projects. Yes, yes, like
- 17:42Speaker 5: that was because definitely a John Travolta pet project.
- 17:47Speaker 3: All right, well, we've got some great questions for today.
- 17:50Speaker 3: L Rod Hubbard had pictures of him.
- 17:53Speaker 5: What I don't want to hear about that, Okay, I
- 17:57Speaker 5: want to hear about is all scientolic Scientology.
- 18:01Speaker 3: It is based on one of L. Ron Hubbard's books.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I've never heard of this movie before you talked
- 18:07Speaker 2: about it.
- 18:07Speaker 1: I only hear about it from Okay, don't let.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Them talk you out of it. It's a solid ric.
- 18:14Speaker 1: I want to see it more.
- 18:19Speaker 5: I tell you what it is. It is a movie
- 18:22Speaker 5: based on the L. Ron Hubbard, the creator of Scientology,
- 18:26Speaker 5: science fiction writer, bad science fiction writer, like famously not
- 18:30Speaker 5: a successful science writer Scientology. That's the thing is that
- 18:36Speaker 5: he founded a religion and made a lot of money
- 18:38Speaker 5: off of founding a religion. Of the tenets of that
- 18:41Speaker 5: religion seem very familiar to a lot of the plots
- 18:45Speaker 5: from some of the books that he had written before Scientology.
- 18:48Speaker 5: So the entire religion started being based off of the books.
- 18:52Speaker 5: This is one of the and they make the like
- 18:55Speaker 5: you're required to buy the books.
- 18:57Speaker 3: I think if you're a scientologist.
- 18:58Speaker 4: Okay, first off, Whitney, Forrest Whittaker, isn't that Academy Award.
- 19:05Speaker 5: Win such a weird Okay, Jim always wants to die
- 19:08Speaker 5: on Academy award?
- 19:12Speaker 1: Jim, how many times have you seen this movie?
- 19:15Speaker 4: More than once? Whitney more than once? And that's honestly
- 19:22Speaker 4: a lot more than most Americans, to be honest right now.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Not if you're a scientologist, you've probably seen it all.
- 19:29Speaker 4: Maybe a few more if you're a scientologist. For a
- 19:31Speaker 4: non scientologist, more.
- 19:35Speaker 3: Than you would expect.
- 19:36Speaker 5: Okay, but I mean you get like the dumbness. It
- 19:39Speaker 5: overtakes a lot of the scientology part.
- 19:41Speaker 4: Why do you hate Forrest Whittaker And you know he's
- 19:44Speaker 4: just done such good work and he's an artist, and
- 19:46Speaker 4: shame on it.
- 19:47Speaker 3: What did he win an oscar for again? Acting? Oh? Interesting?
- 19:52Speaker 5: Yeah, the thing that he throws out interesting, fast and
- 19:56Speaker 5: loose all the time.
- 19:59Speaker 3: For act got it?
- 20:01Speaker 5: Also, you know, both of them have produced a lot,
- 20:05Speaker 5: so they could have genuinely been nominated as producers as well.
- 20:08Speaker 5: That's your opinion, man, That's a lot of things in
- 20:11Speaker 5: my opinion, this evening.
- 20:12Speaker 3: You know, just demonstrably art, Jacob.
- 20:15Speaker 4: I'm into the art, Okay, I'm just I mean, I
- 20:18Speaker 4: get guys like you that are into science. You know,
- 20:21Speaker 4: you guys are just about the math. Okay, Guys like me,
- 20:24Speaker 4: we just appreciate the art, you know. And so just
- 20:27Speaker 4: a guy who's won an Academy award, I don't really
- 20:29Speaker 4: see and like acting, you know, I don't really like
- 20:33Speaker 4: question it, you know, just I assume he's got talent.
- 20:38Speaker 3: That's what question something.
- 20:41Speaker 4: We got some great questions for today's show. We're starting
- 20:45Speaker 4: off with.
- 20:45Speaker 3: ADHD and food.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Here we go, Hello Pod Therapy crew. This question may
- 20:52Speaker 4: be mostly a nick question, but here we go. I'm
- 20:56Speaker 4: a younger ish adult female who has been a diagnosed
- 21:00Speaker 4: and is medicated for ADHD.
- 21:03Speaker 3: I think the.
- 21:04Speaker 4: Medication works great, no complaints about symptoms, et cetera. For
- 21:08Speaker 4: the past five ish years, I've been taking my food
- 21:11Speaker 4: slash fitness pretty seriously, trying to increase muscle and decrease fat.
- 21:16Speaker 4: I've learned that I do best working out first thing
- 21:20Speaker 4: in the mornings, and anything after that is honestly awful.
- 21:25Speaker 4: Usually I grab something like a banana on the way
- 21:28Speaker 4: out the door in the mornings in order to take
- 21:31Speaker 4: my meds and make sure my stomach isn't empty for
- 21:34Speaker 4: the workout. At first, I used to take a pre
- 21:37Speaker 4: workout and protein bar prior to the gym, then protein
- 21:42Speaker 4: shake after, but my stomach decided that was a no go.
- 21:47Speaker 4: After a year or two, I feel like the same
- 21:50Speaker 4: weird thing keeps getting worse. I know macros, what I
- 21:54Speaker 4: should eat, et cetera, but it has gotten to the
- 21:58Speaker 4: point that if my body doesn't want on whatever the
- 22:01Speaker 4: thing is I'm trying to eat, if I force myself
- 22:04Speaker 4: to eat it, I will near instantly vomit. I feel
- 22:09Speaker 4: like a complete idiot, a spoiled brat child saying that,
- 22:13Speaker 4: but honest to God, this is what happens. I literally
- 22:16Speaker 4: have thrown up out of my car window so many
- 22:21Speaker 4: times involuntary trying to choke something down that I have
- 22:26Speaker 4: to mark on the paint of my driver's side door.
- 22:29Speaker 4: Even though I clean it off as soon as humanly possible.
- 22:34Speaker 4: I sew badly want to just eat my grilled chicken, veggies,
- 22:38Speaker 4: overnight oats, and fruit. But if it isn't whatever my
- 22:41Speaker 4: body decided has the green light today, No matter how
- 22:45Speaker 4: much my conscious mind is happy to eat whatever, it's
- 22:49Speaker 4: this weird unconscious part that literally refuses to allow it.
- 22:54Speaker 4: I usually have one or two safe foods at a time,
- 22:59Speaker 4: but they're usually something stupid, like dried pineapple with absolutely
- 23:03Speaker 4: nothing on it. It has to only have organic pineapple
- 23:07Speaker 4: on the label. Why no clue? This is not just
- 23:12Speaker 4: the most ridiculous thing in the world, but is obnoxious
- 23:15Speaker 4: when it comes to grocery shopping, meal prepping, et cetera,
- 23:19Speaker 4: and is especially not great for hitting my macros. I
- 23:23Speaker 4: haven't been able to hit macros in months because of this.
- 23:27Speaker 4: It is not one specific food or food group, time
- 23:30Speaker 4: of day, location.
- 23:31Speaker 3: Et cetera. It shifts.
- 23:34Speaker 4: I try to track most things and have been trying
- 23:37Speaker 4: to find a pattern, but cannot. I typically eat buy
- 23:41Speaker 4: mostly clean foods, rarely eat out, et cetera. So I
- 23:45Speaker 4: doubt it's that when I do eat out, like more
- 23:49Speaker 4: than one meal in a row, that isn't more along
- 23:52Speaker 4: the lines of cleanish. I mentally and physically feel like shit.
- 23:57Speaker 4: I had not had much luck thinking about even where
- 24:00Speaker 4: to maybe possibly turn to deal with this where someone
- 24:03Speaker 4: would actually take me seriously and not just view this
- 24:06Speaker 4: like an oversized, spoiled brat child until I saw a
- 24:10Speaker 4: post on Facebook that was something to the effect of
- 24:13Speaker 4: adhd oh, shoot, I forgot to eat. I'm hungry a
- 24:17Speaker 4: SD but this food isn't the right food autism slash DHD. Welp,
- 24:24Speaker 4: guess we're not eating today.
- 24:27Speaker 3: No, I do not have.
- 24:28Speaker 4: ASD diagnosis, but it is the first thing at all
- 24:34Speaker 4: that has even hinted at something resembling what I'm dealing with.
- 24:38Speaker 4: So I'm reaching out to you all. Has anyone ever
- 24:41Speaker 4: heard of something like this? Any advice on where to
- 24:44Speaker 4: turn nick, ideas as a personal trainer slash fitness guy,
- 24:49Speaker 4: ideas of unique ways to hit macros?
- 24:54Speaker 3: Help As I sit here with my half finished protein
- 24:57Speaker 3: iced coffee that is actually my favorite, and I want
- 25:00Speaker 3: to finish so bad, but my body decided MEH, if
- 25:04Speaker 3: you drink more, you'll vomit, So try again later. Uugh
- 25:08Speaker 3: CI signed the Frustrated Foodie Pronouns are she and her? Okay,
- 25:15Speaker 3: that's odd. Yeah, I'm not familiar with this. Yeah, it
- 25:19Speaker 3: seems very because my first thought to this, which is
- 25:24Speaker 3: something that you obviously writer thought about right away too,
- 25:28Speaker 3: which is maybe it's a timing thing, because there is
- 25:32Speaker 3: kind of that belief which has kind of been disproven,
- 25:37Speaker 3: which is like that that you have like a window
- 25:39Speaker 3: of time after a workout, well like you got to
- 25:41Speaker 3: get your protein in within thirty minutes of working out
- 25:44Speaker 3: that way. Yeah, yeah, which is there's no scientific support
- 25:48Speaker 3: for that.
- 25:48Speaker 5: I always hear it, like the pre workout stuff and
- 25:51Speaker 5: the and the post workout and all the different things,
- 25:53Speaker 5: and I do kind of go like, I mean, I
- 25:55Speaker 5: hear you, like, I'm not saying those things don't do anything.
- 25:58Speaker 3: Yeah, but it seems notice it's overblown. The pre workout
- 26:02Speaker 3: basically is to provide your body energy to get through
- 26:05Speaker 3: the workout, right, So yeah, like creotine monohydrate is kind
- 26:10Speaker 3: of like the most common pre workout, and all that
- 26:12Speaker 3: really does is it gives you energy so that you know,
- 26:16Speaker 3: if if you do if you're doing a bench press
- 26:20Speaker 3: and you do three sets of ten reps and then
- 26:23Speaker 3: you basically you multiply those reps by those sets by
- 26:30Speaker 3: the amount of weight that you moved, that's your total volume, right,
- 26:33Speaker 3: And a pre workout basically gives you a little bit
- 26:36Speaker 3: more energy to get a few more reps in so
- 26:38Speaker 3: you can increase your overall volume for the workout. Okay,
- 26:41Speaker 3: that's how that works. So the timing for that is
- 26:44Speaker 3: important only because it needs to happen before the workout
- 26:47Speaker 3: so you have the energy during the workout.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Right.
- 26:50Speaker 3: But as far as like a window for you know,
- 26:52Speaker 3: your body getting in the protein, the best way to
- 26:55Speaker 3: get in protein actually is to do it throughout the day.
- 26:59Speaker 3: So if you do it, you know, break the day
- 27:01Speaker 3: into four quarters and get you know, whatever your macro
- 27:07Speaker 3: is for that day for protein, divide that by four
- 27:09Speaker 3: and make sure you get that within each window. Oh,
- 27:12Speaker 3: just so it's spread out. You don't want to have
- 27:14Speaker 3: it all at once. But there's no real window like that.
- 27:18Speaker 3: But obviously, writer, like you thought of that, and that
- 27:20Speaker 3: doesn't seem to be the issue because like I've I've
- 27:22Speaker 3: had that before too, where like after a workout, if
- 27:24Speaker 3: I try to have a big meal, I just my
- 27:27Speaker 3: body just doesn't want it, Like it's it's tired, it's
- 27:29Speaker 3: it's doing other things. It doesn't want to stop what
- 27:32Speaker 3: it's doing to start to digest food. Yeah, so if
- 27:34Speaker 3: I eat a whole bunch, it's just like, Nope, we're
- 27:36Speaker 3: not dealing with this right now. Let's throw this up
- 27:38Speaker 3: so we can get back to doing what we're repairing
- 27:40Speaker 3: the body. Yeah, right, But obviously you thought of that,
- 27:43Speaker 3: which is yeah.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Well, like interesting, how.
- 27:49Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 27:50Speaker 2: The macros thing is always interesting to me and innocence
- 27:55Speaker 2: that like when I've tried to stick with macros in
- 27:57Speaker 2: the past, it definitely helps with like how your body
- 28:01Speaker 2: looks per se, like composition wise. Sure, but I guess
- 28:04Speaker 2: I would ask the writer, maybe we don't know why
- 28:08Speaker 2: your body is like rejecting some of these foods at
- 28:11Speaker 2: certain times, And that sounds like something that might be
- 28:13Speaker 2: worth looking into, either with a doctor or with a
- 28:15Speaker 2: therapist kind of combined to see what's going on if
- 28:18Speaker 2: it is more mental, if it is more something physical,
- 28:21Speaker 2: is your body having maybe a reaction to something.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Like first thing I thought was gluten?
- 28:26Speaker 2: Well, okay, And I was just having this discussion today
- 28:29Speaker 2: with a friend who's like on a health journey, and
- 28:32Speaker 2: they were talking about increasing protein. But like dari already
- 28:35Speaker 2: doesn't do well with me. But Way in particular, I
- 28:37Speaker 2: was eating it and I would get these sharp pains
- 28:39Speaker 2: in my chest and I was like, I realized it
- 28:42Speaker 2: was from I was drinking a smoothie, but there was
- 28:44Speaker 2: Way in the smoothie, like the protein power. So I
- 28:46Speaker 2: really can't do like way protein and so ever, you know,
- 28:50Speaker 2: every fitness person's like, oh, just do protein shakes, and
- 28:54Speaker 2: I'm like, I gotta find one that's not doesn't have
- 28:57Speaker 2: Way in it plant based. There's some plant based ones.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Then it's like do they taste Not that they have
- 29:03Speaker 2: taste great.
- 29:04Speaker 1: But will they be like palatable?
- 29:06Speaker 2: And so then I can kind of relate to the writer,
- 29:08Speaker 2: because yeah, some days I'm just like, oh, I'm literally
- 29:11Speaker 2: force feeding myself chicken to a point. But protein is
- 29:15Speaker 2: filling to start with, so you're like, oh, I need
- 29:17Speaker 2: so many grams. It can it can feel mentally draining.
- 29:20Speaker 2: And so I guess what I would ask maybe of
- 29:23Speaker 2: view two Nick, is like, what do you think is
- 29:27Speaker 2: more important as you know, a mental health therapist, but
- 29:29Speaker 2: also going into the health and fitness side of it,
- 29:32Speaker 2: like is it more important just to.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Like keep food down?
- 29:36Speaker 2: What's the balance between Like, yeah, you don't want to
- 29:39Speaker 2: force feed yourself in vombit.
- 29:40Speaker 1: That's not good for.
- 29:40Speaker 2: You, right, So what what would be a more manageable
- 29:45Speaker 2: goal while they figure it out, Like how how important
- 29:50Speaker 2: are macros or how important is it to.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Listee your body more?
- 29:54Speaker 3: Depends on what your goal is. Yeah, right, Like, so
- 29:57Speaker 3: I've got a few of my clients that I'm working
- 29:59Speaker 3: with with right now, my my in person clients. They're
- 30:03Speaker 3: not like I got one of my clients. It's funny.
- 30:07Speaker 3: He's a neurologist and like interesting, yeah, and so his
- 30:10Speaker 3: his when he first started working with me, like one
- 30:13Speaker 3: of his like he just wanted to get healthy, you know,
- 30:17Speaker 3: And that's it. He's just like he's he's older, and
- 30:19Speaker 3: he just like I want he understands, like he understands
- 30:23Speaker 3: the health aspect of it, and he understands that like
- 30:26Speaker 3: one of the best deterrence for long term like disease
- 30:30Speaker 3: is muscle mass, like lean muscle mass, and so he's like,
- 30:34Speaker 3: I I want to build up more muscle because that's
- 30:36Speaker 3: important for longevity and all that. So like, okay, cool,
- 30:40Speaker 3: But every once in a while he keeps talking about
- 30:42Speaker 3: he wants to do a six hundred pound deadlift. Yes,
- 30:44Speaker 3: it's like, all right, well, what what exactly are? Because
- 30:49Speaker 3: because we can, we can do both of those, but
- 30:52Speaker 3: they're gonna be different paths. So it's going to be
- 30:55Speaker 3: it's gonna be differently. Yeah, And so like how important macros?
- 31:00Speaker 3: I guess it really depends on, like how what is
- 31:02Speaker 3: your goal that you're trying to accomplish, you know, with
- 31:07Speaker 3: the with most people, you know, they want to they
- 31:10Speaker 3: want to lose weight, and so ultimately you want a
- 31:14Speaker 3: caloric deficit, but you're still want to pay attention to
- 31:17Speaker 3: what those macros are because like you can be in
- 31:19Speaker 3: a caloric deficit and be incredibly unhealthy if you're not
- 31:24Speaker 3: getting enough protein or if you're not getting enough carbs
- 31:27Speaker 3: or lipids or whatever. It is, like you still have
- 31:30Speaker 3: to have a good mix of all of that. So
- 31:33Speaker 3: I don't know, like I I get what the writer's
- 31:36Speaker 3: talking about, Like, Okay, well maybe I just need to
- 31:39Speaker 3: like back off of like paying attention to the macros
- 31:44Speaker 3: and just figure out the keeping food down part. Yeah,
- 31:47Speaker 3: And I would agree with that, like that's probably where
- 31:51Speaker 3: you want to go. But I get the writer's frustration.
- 31:54Speaker 3: It's like, Okay, I've been dealing with this for a
- 31:56Speaker 3: while I'm no closer towards the solution, and now I'm
- 31:58Speaker 3: getting further away from my health goals.
- 32:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I did want to telerator too. They mentioned this twice,
- 32:04Speaker 2: feeling like a spoiled spoiled brad or I'm like, yeah.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Oh, back off, honey.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Where stuff happens when we are like trying to yeah,
- 32:15Speaker 2: add different foods. And I know you said after a
- 32:17Speaker 2: year or two, so you've been doing it a while,
- 32:19Speaker 2: then your body started reacting, so it might feel silly
- 32:22Speaker 2: to you, but that's not silly, Like, yeah, who knows
- 32:24Speaker 2: what's going on? Maybe there is a food allergy. Allergies
- 32:28Speaker 2: are introduced at different times in our lives, especially as
- 32:31Speaker 2: uh oh, I think you said you're a woman, like
- 32:33Speaker 2: our hormones are fluctuating different times of our lives.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Like that'll affect stuff, and yeah, tell me if I'm wrong.
- 32:41Speaker 2: But with ADHD there's like, oh my gosh, maybe the
- 32:44Speaker 2: ADHD specialist here can share, especially with like anahistamines or
- 32:49Speaker 2: something like that. With ADHD, come back to me, you
- 32:54Speaker 2: know later, I'll I'll figure it out. But yeah, and
- 32:56Speaker 2: so it makes me wonder if there are maybe allergic.
- 32:58Speaker 4: R it's a whole nother yes, And the writer seems
- 33:02Speaker 4: to be saying, like, look, I have tried every single
- 33:05Speaker 4: door to explain this, right, and like that's the frustration
- 33:10Speaker 4: that I can really appreciate, where it's like, yo, is
- 33:12Speaker 4: this being a woman?
- 33:14Speaker 3: Is this hormones?
- 33:16Speaker 4: Is this autism spectrum?
- 33:18Speaker 3: Is this ADHD?
- 33:20Speaker 4: These are all fair hypotheses, And there's actually a lot
- 33:23Speaker 4: of humans out there that are like I haven't quite
- 33:26Speaker 4: landed on like a diagnosis, right, but like I'm struggling,
- 33:31Speaker 4: and I just I lack consistency, I lack discipline, I
- 33:35Speaker 4: lack the ability to follow through even though I'm completely
- 33:38Speaker 4: crystal clear on what it is I need to be
- 33:40Speaker 4: working on. And it is problematic because like, on one hand,
- 33:44Speaker 4: I want to point to that as part of the
- 33:47Speaker 4: human condition, right, Like I don't want it to always
- 33:49Speaker 4: be like that's that there's a pathology. All the rest
- 33:52Speaker 4: of us can handle our shit, but you who have
- 33:55Speaker 4: a mental illness can't. Like I don't want there's.
- 33:57Speaker 3: No reason to add You're already deal with a lot.
- 34:01Speaker 3: There's no reason to now add judgment.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Yes, that's what I'm Yeah, we.
- 34:06Speaker 5: Don't need another problem, and that's what judgment is. Like,
- 34:09Speaker 5: we got problems, let's just fix the problem.
- 34:11Speaker 4: Well, And I get where people come from, because you know,
- 34:14Speaker 4: I appreciate that they're a place you're like, so what
- 34:17Speaker 4: is wrong with me? And it feels like there needs to
- 34:18Speaker 4: be a more medical explanation and there's something about that
- 34:22Speaker 4: that's like validating, and I appreciate that. But yeah, more
- 34:26Speaker 4: than the diagnosis is really just a solution.
- 34:29Speaker 3: I know, I definitely empathize with Whitney's point two of
- 34:33Speaker 3: like it's you're trying to hit a moving target as
- 34:36Speaker 3: you get older. Yeah. Sure. Like so I've spent in
- 34:39Speaker 3: my own little journey over the last like three weeks
- 34:43Speaker 3: figuring out like, Okay, I gotta do something different because
- 34:45Speaker 3: like my gut is not doing well, and so I
- 34:49Speaker 3: just figured it was coffee, and I cut out coffee.
- 34:52Speaker 3: And I went like two weeks with no coffee, and
- 34:55Speaker 3: I was like, Okay, I'm feeling a little bit better.
- 34:58Speaker 3: And then I had a bowl of cereal and then
- 35:01Speaker 3: I was right back to where I was. Cereal. Yes, cheerios, Okay,
- 35:07Speaker 3: what kind of cheerio? Okay? I like that, Whitney. First off,
- 35:10Speaker 3: I'm really proud of both of us. I like that
- 35:12Speaker 3: we're on the exact same page.
- 35:14Speaker 5: We're both assuming it's the most boring fucking cereal I'm
- 35:18Speaker 5: playing and you were just wrong because it was funny,
- 35:19Speaker 5: nut cheery.
- 35:22Speaker 3: That I love that cereal vomit cheerios. Then I discovered like,
- 35:28Speaker 3: oh no, it's milk.
- 35:30Speaker 1: That's what I'm gonna say.
- 35:31Speaker 3: Yeah, all of a sudden, and this is just within
- 35:34Speaker 3: the last year, but all of a sudden, like any
- 35:37Speaker 3: time I have milk, it's just it's not good. Is
- 35:41Speaker 3: that you two? You can't be doing this.
- 35:43Speaker 2: I got the wrong coffee at Dutch Bros. They gave
- 35:46Speaker 2: me I get their Golden Eagle with either almond or
- 35:49Speaker 2: oat milk, And one day I didn't realize right away.
- 35:52Speaker 2: I'm just like drinking my drink on my way to
- 35:54Speaker 2: the office and like minutes to the tea, like I'm
- 35:58Speaker 2: about to pull in.
- 35:59Speaker 1: I was like, mm no, I canceled sessions.
- 36:03Speaker 3: No, that's an expensive mistake.
- 36:05Speaker 2: It was not good, Like I cannot and I almost
- 36:10Speaker 2: cut the first one.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Shore I was like, I'm sorry, you got to go
- 36:13Speaker 1: by poop, But I didn't say that girls don't poop.
- 36:18Speaker 3: Yeah, of course, of course that's silly of me.
- 36:22Speaker 4: Yeah, sorry, guys, I vomited during eighth grade health class.
- 36:27Speaker 3: I don't know if I've told that, sorry.
- 36:29Speaker 1: But yeah, I found it later.
- 36:30Speaker 2: These half and half like not even just milk, like
- 36:34Speaker 2: heavy milk you.
- 36:35Speaker 3: Handle half and half that was just cream, dude. Yeah,
- 36:38Speaker 3: that's what I do. That's what I know. That will
- 36:41Speaker 3: fund lactose tolerant.
- 36:44Speaker 1: I think I have an allergy because.
- 36:45Speaker 3: You tolerate lactose.
- 36:47Speaker 2: We bought, we buy the lactate, Like, what's that lact
- 36:51Speaker 2: tape fair No, fair life milk that's like lac tastes
- 36:54Speaker 2: free or whatever, like doesn't have the lactate in it
- 36:57Speaker 2: or whatever, And no, my stomach still it's not as
- 37:00Speaker 2: but it does not like it.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Still, I think I have a legit.
- 37:03Speaker 3: Like taste of oat milk. I don't like the vanilla ones.
- 37:10Speaker 5: I think are the sweetened ones. I don't like the
- 37:11Speaker 5: sweetened ones. Like the plain unsweetened oat milk has a
- 37:15Speaker 5: nice smooth flavor to it.
- 37:16Speaker 3: I like it.
- 37:17Speaker 5: I like that anything that you need to cook, like
- 37:21Speaker 5: if you need a milk replacement for cooking, oat milk
- 37:24Speaker 5: works really well for that, or for like a sour
- 37:25Speaker 5: cream substitute recipe as well.
- 37:28Speaker 4: Okay, so I don't know if you guys are comfortable
- 37:30Speaker 4: with social Darwinism, but basically it would argue that I
- 37:34Speaker 4: am the superior species and that you guys should.
- 37:38Speaker 1: Be drinking milk over.
- 37:42Speaker 3: I think over the last eight years of doing the show,
- 37:44Speaker 3: we've proven otherwise.
- 37:45Speaker 4: I think that I'm the superior species.
- 37:48Speaker 3: Clearly.
- 37:51Speaker 4: I mean clearly, I am the superior genetics. I'm younger
- 37:55Speaker 4: than you two old bucks, okay, first off, and then
- 37:59Speaker 4: with this bitch, she can't even handle some half an half,
- 38:01Speaker 4: all right, So nobody would have put their money on
- 38:06Speaker 4: me to be the guy that would survive the four
- 38:08Speaker 4: of us.
- 38:09Speaker 5: I would argue, even with your argument, I don't think
- 38:12Speaker 5: there's any additional money coming in.
- 38:13Speaker 3: We're gonna take a quick break, and when we kind of,
- 38:16Speaker 3: I don't know if we came to a conclusion with this,
- 38:19Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 38:21Speaker 5: I honestly think we kind of did. I think did
- 38:24Speaker 5: like the best that we could. Yeah, this is a
- 38:26Speaker 5: tough one and I'm sorry.
- 38:28Speaker 2: I don't have makes your stomach feel okay for now?
- 38:31Speaker 2: And maybe do maybe going for some extra texting?
- 38:34Speaker 3: Yeah, And I would say, also, just be kind to yourself,
- 38:37Speaker 3: because like when you're dealing with stuff like this and
- 38:40Speaker 3: you don't know, especially with food. It is so frustrating
- 38:44Speaker 3: and it's so difficult, you know, because and you're just uh,
- 38:47Speaker 3: you know, I talk about Laura all the time like
- 38:50Speaker 3: being you know, kind.
- 38:51Speaker 5: Of silly act disease. Nobody likes Laura, and then she
- 38:55Speaker 5: also has like allow.
- 38:58Speaker 4: For this, and she never signed up for this show,
- 39:00Speaker 4: and she's like for a lot of people, she's the
- 39:03Speaker 4: person they think of as silly acting.
- 39:05Speaker 3: But like like when you have like an allergy and
- 39:09Speaker 3: your skin breaks out, and it's like, okay, well, now,
- 39:11Speaker 3: what in the fuck am I supposed to do? Is
- 39:13Speaker 3: it detergent? Is it soap? Is that the sheets? Is
- 39:16Speaker 3: it like non?
- 39:17Speaker 1: Is it the grass in my vacuum tract?
- 39:19Speaker 2: Right?
- 39:20Speaker 3: And so you have to like one by one and
- 39:22Speaker 3: it is so frustrating. And it is the world's largest
- 39:25Speaker 3: Rubik's cube. So be kind to yourself. Yes, you know,
- 39:28Speaker 3: stick with it. Just continue to try to be scientific
- 39:31Speaker 3: about it. Uh, recruit some experts, you know.
- 39:35Speaker 1: First, That's what we always learned, I think.
- 39:37Speaker 2: So do you want to rule out medical stuff before
- 39:39Speaker 2: diving into like is this a mental Have y'all ever
- 39:42Speaker 2: done an allergy?
- 39:42Speaker 3: Study the thing where they know they that's old school.
- 39:50Speaker 3: They don't do Pokey.
- 39:51Speaker 5: The Pokeys thing is thirty years ago. It's not even
- 39:55Speaker 5: like kind of current anymore. As they just did a
- 39:58Speaker 5: like a crazy panel. It's like allergies and things that she's,
- 40:02Speaker 5: uh what it's like less than analogies yea, sensitivities all
- 40:07Speaker 5: these different things and I mean huge, yeah, everything on there.
- 40:14Speaker 5: Well and if you're going through and check it or
- 40:16Speaker 5: X and all this different stuff on there and then
- 40:18Speaker 5: looking at it with a doctor and the doctor is
- 40:20Speaker 5: going like this and this and this are probably gonna
- 40:22Speaker 5: drop off once you get rid of this one. So
- 40:24Speaker 5: once you cut, Like almonds were one that came up,
- 40:28Speaker 5: and she was like the doctor said, like, once you
- 40:30Speaker 5: get rid of dairy, then the almonds when it's gonna.
- 40:33Speaker 3: Go away and you're gonna be fine with almends. These
- 40:36Speaker 3: things are attached. Yeah, but see I think that case
- 40:40Speaker 3: in point like that's how like if you don't have
- 40:43Speaker 3: a blood test right and a doctor to walk you
- 40:46Speaker 3: through that, how would you ever figure that out? You
- 40:49Speaker 3: would never know. That's insane. There's so many layers. It's
- 40:53Speaker 3: like okay, well if I can't I can have almonds.
- 40:55Speaker 3: But I can have almonds only if I don't have dairy.
- 40:59Speaker 3: Who you would never act those two dots.
- 41:01Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, you're gonna go like you're gonna spend your
- 41:03Speaker 5: life going like I can't eat almonds.
- 41:04Speaker 4: So writer, you need to go see SHA's doctor. That's
- 41:07Speaker 4: I think that's where we're at.
- 41:08Speaker 5: No, I would go see a doctor if if you are,
- 41:11Speaker 5: if you're speaking literally in your letter and you can't
- 41:14Speaker 5: keep things down, I want you to go see a
- 41:16Speaker 5: doctor just ru rule it out. Yeah, because go get
- 41:20Speaker 5: a good you know, get tell them, tell them what's
- 41:22Speaker 5: going on. Say, you know, I don't know if this
- 41:25Speaker 5: is a physical thing or a mental thing or a combination,
- 41:27Speaker 5: but I just want to rule ship out. So let's
- 41:30Speaker 5: let's just test anything and everything that we can. If
- 41:33Speaker 5: you don't have insurance, that gets trickier.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Sorry, But then once we've got that, then we can
- 41:40Speaker 3: deal with like the macro exactly, and then we can
- 41:43Speaker 3: do then because then we know, like it's kind of
- 41:46Speaker 3: like cleaning off the windshield before we drive someplace, like,
- 41:49Speaker 3: let's let's make sure we know where we're going first,
- 41:51Speaker 3: and then we can start to navigate.
- 41:53Speaker 5: The best piece of advice I think i'd probably give
- 41:55Speaker 5: is is really like you're you're worried about a few
- 41:57Speaker 5: different things right now, and I'd like you to stop that.
- 42:01Speaker 5: I'd like you to not worry about all these different
- 42:03Speaker 5: things at the same time. So you're worried about like
- 42:06Speaker 5: eating and getting that nutrition and everything, and you're also
- 42:09Speaker 5: worried about the health journey and weight loss and fitness
- 42:13Speaker 5: and all these other things too. Maybe pause the fitness
- 42:17Speaker 5: part of this for a moment while you figure out
- 42:20Speaker 5: the eating part. Let's let's take some worry off the plate.
- 42:24Speaker 5: You don't you don't have to do the fitness you don't.
- 42:27Speaker 5: You don't have to to achieve your fitness, your your
- 42:30Speaker 5: ultimate fitness goal. Right now, Let's figure out how to
- 42:33Speaker 5: eat a sandwich first, and then after we figure out
- 42:36Speaker 5: just the eating of the sandwich and keeping it down,
- 42:39Speaker 5: then we get back to like, Okay, now, now what
- 42:41Speaker 5: do I want to eat? Now that I figured out
- 42:43Speaker 5: how I can eat again, Now now we figure out
- 42:45Speaker 5: what was going on with that, we.
- 42:46Speaker 3: Solve that problem. That's fair. Good. Now let's move on
- 42:50Speaker 3: to the next thing.
- 42:51Speaker 4: That's fair getting kind of reductions with it. I think
- 42:53Speaker 4: once you've figured out how to fitness challenge in your
- 42:56Speaker 4: butt m hm, then own only then writer.
- 43:02Speaker 3: You can always email me to Nick at mentalfit personal
- 43:05Speaker 3: training dot com and then I can connect you to
- 43:08Speaker 3: a nutritionist I know.
- 43:09Speaker 4: Also you can email me a gym at mental fit personal.
- 43:16Speaker 3: Demon dot com. Yeah, he goes by mailer demon. Where
- 43:20Speaker 3: to take quick break?
- 43:21Speaker 4: When we come back, we're discussing travel anxiety.
- 43:24Speaker 3: You're listening to pot therapy. Okay, this week on this show,
- 43:31Speaker 3: here we go. Today's episode is brought to you by

- 43:42Speaker 3: not Kiera Knightley aka Natalie Portman. If you like to
- 43:46Speaker 3: sponsor the show, become a therapist your Patreon dot com
- 43:48Speaker 3: slash therapy. I love this new argument. I agree.
- 43:52Speaker 1: I told Peter Aboudy, who's Oh my god, that's so true?
- 43:55Speaker 3: Is true? It is so true.
- 43:57Speaker 4: When you look her up, you're like Natalie Apartment, Oh
- 43:59Speaker 4: yeah yeah, not Kia Nightly, but not not Kiara Knightley.
- 44:04Speaker 3: Like it's they're close enough. So I'm with you on this.
- 44:10Speaker 3: H We've got some trivia for today. I assume, oh
- 44:14Speaker 3: you were looking at your phone. I thought you had trivia.
- 44:16Speaker 3: I have questions. No, okay, famous first from Emma. What oh,
- 44:25Speaker 3: let's go Jacob, all right? What was the first country
- 44:28Speaker 3: in the world to grant women the right to vote nationally? Bro?
- 44:32Speaker 4: Let me tell you right now. I got you on this. Huh,
- 44:35Speaker 4: all right, let me help you out.
- 44:37Speaker 3: Go ahead, Yeah, because he's been needing your help all night.
- 44:41Speaker 3: I got you. Ah, help me out, jim My man,
- 44:44Speaker 3: doubt me. It's Thailand. Thailand.
- 44:46Speaker 4: They were about that women's suffrage. Huh, all right, way
- 44:51Speaker 4: ahead of schedule, more than you think it is.
- 44:55Speaker 5: I don't know who was first, but I know that
- 44:58Speaker 5: so far, every one who has done it did it
- 45:02Speaker 5: way too early.
- 45:03Speaker 4: Yes, only regret, because if that's where we're at, only regret.
- 45:09Speaker 5: I don't know if the current state of the US
- 45:13Speaker 5: federal system is because we gave women the vote, Yes,
- 45:18Speaker 5: but I don't know it's not because it's all.
- 45:22Speaker 3: Has it gotten better? Has it gotten better? Same thing
- 45:25Speaker 3: we told the last writer.
- 45:27Speaker 5: I just want to solve one problem at a time,
- 45:29Speaker 5: if that means taking the vote away from women to
- 45:31Speaker 5: see if that was the problem.
- 45:32Speaker 3: That you want to check.
- 45:33Speaker 4: That's a science move and that's just a variable thing.
- 45:37Speaker 3: Now I just want to welcome everyone to the manisphere.
- 45:39Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, Joe.
- 45:43Speaker 3: Give me the options. Your options are New Zealand, Sweden, Austria,
- 45:50Speaker 3: I'm sorry, Australia. Oh I might and Finland. Damn it,
- 45:57Speaker 3: there's a hook. Those are all good. Go south. I'll
- 46:00Speaker 3: go to Sweden. No ship. Can I get a steel
- 46:05Speaker 3: whitney for the.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Steam sh Finland?
- 46:09Speaker 3: No right? Give me Australia. Points for Nick it was
- 46:18Speaker 3: New Zealand.
- 46:20Speaker 1: I wanted to move there.
- 46:22Speaker 3: Oh oh, let's let's do a Guest of the year.
- 46:24Speaker 3: Bonus points. Oh two thousand. Right to vote. This is
- 46:33Speaker 3: when women got the right to vote in New Zealand.
- 46:35Speaker 3: I have no idea. I'll give you in New Zealand.
- 46:40Speaker 5: Crisis, right, I have no idea. I like eighteen hundreds,
- 46:47Speaker 5: seventeen hundred, nineteen hundred.
- 46:49Speaker 3: I'll give you, tell you what, let's do this. I'll
- 46:51Speaker 3: give you a year. Okay, you go sooner or okay.
- 46:55Speaker 3: Bonus points are for Jacob. It's his question. Will go
- 47:00Speaker 3: nineteen ten? Go north? Go North? Out of respect?
- 47:06Speaker 5: I didn't know what you meant when you said go
- 47:08Speaker 5: south to the four questions, I don't know what you mean.
- 47:12Speaker 4: Now, there's no way they did this before nineteen ten.
- 47:16Speaker 5: Listen, I know, I'm really not sure that New Zealand
- 47:20Speaker 5: was around before nineteen ten. I don't know when they
- 47:24Speaker 5: became a country.
- 47:25Speaker 3: Go north.
- 47:26Speaker 5: I'll say it happened before. That happened earlier than nineteen ten.
- 47:30Speaker 5: I'm gonna bet that when New Zealand became a country,
- 47:34Speaker 5: I bet that they never didn't have the right to vote.
- 47:37Speaker 5: I bet as long as New Zealand has had voting,
- 47:40Speaker 5: the women had the right to vote.
- 47:42Speaker 3: I bet. It's a trick question, and New Zealand is awesome.
- 47:45Speaker 3: I don't have that information, but let's go with it,
- 47:47Speaker 3: all right. Eighteen ninety three, all right, Whitney, Jesus, who
- 47:54Speaker 3: knows when New Zealand became a country. Who was the
- 47:56Speaker 3: first person to walk in space?
- 48:00Speaker 2: Oh? Don't the first person to walk in space?
- 48:06Speaker 1: Give me options?
- 48:07Speaker 3: Okay, your options are.
- 48:10Speaker 5: Ah, New Zealand found Oh no, that's British colony eighteen forty.
- 48:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like there's indigenous people, so they became
- 48:17Speaker 2: they became a British colony in eighteen forty.
- 48:20Speaker 3: Okay, I'm gonna keep looking.
- 48:21Speaker 1: All right, sit on that. Give me options?
- 48:24Speaker 5: Uh, Yuri Gear, Gary Garnagaron, Uri Gagaron, Neil Armstrong, Alexei Leonov,
- 48:35Speaker 5: buzz Aldron.
- 48:43Speaker 1: To walk in space, yes, not walk on the moon.
- 48:47Speaker 3: Correct, to walk in space. Buzz Okay, go, thank you.
- 48:58Speaker 1: I don't know. Buzz Aldron is what I'm gonna say.
- 49:00Speaker 3: Oh, I thought you were buzzing in to answer the question.
- 49:03Speaker 3: It's already your question. Definitely mean, No, it was not buzz.
- 49:08Speaker 4: I'm gonna take a Alexi what read me back to.
- 49:16Speaker 3: Leonov? Yeah? That guy?
- 49:18Speaker 5: No, it's line off. Sorry guy, that's on me. I'm
- 49:23Speaker 5: a silly bit guy.
- 49:25Speaker 3: Yes it was.
- 49:26Speaker 4: Hey, so you're a Gregarin, I believe is the first
- 49:30Speaker 4: human ever to go into space. The Russians accomplished that
- 49:34Speaker 4: first after Sputnik. They got the first guy to orbit,
- 49:38Speaker 4: and obviously Buzz is the second human effort to touch the.
- 49:43Speaker 3: Movie Hey Jim, what was.
- 49:46Speaker 2: It?
- 49:46Speaker 3: What was the first film to gross one hundred million
- 49:49Speaker 3: at the US box office? A? Definitely options? Iron Eagle Fuck? Yeah, okay, Jaws,
- 50:01Speaker 3: Star Wars, The Godfather or.
- 50:05Speaker 4: Et So this weekend I didn't get to tell you guys,
- 50:08Speaker 4: this is the Patreon. I went to the John Williams
- 50:11Speaker 4: Philharmonic Orchestra live performance at Smith's Center because I'm fancy
- 50:17Speaker 4: and because I support Jacob.
- 50:19Speaker 3: Was John Williams there, I couldn't be sure.
- 50:22Speaker 1: I'm gonna go see the notebook the Smith's Center on Tuesday.
- 50:25Speaker 3: There's the notebook like just playing the score. I think
- 50:29Speaker 3: Laura's going this weekend playing. Oh there's a play.
- 50:32Speaker 4: Oh that's nice center, that's nice to go on anyway,
- 50:36Speaker 4: So I was surprised when they played Jaws at like
- 50:41Speaker 4: how early that was and John Williams is Pantheon, and
- 50:45Speaker 4: like how powerful it was, and just like listening to
- 50:47Speaker 4: a symphonic orchestra played Jaws is like fuck, this is
- 50:50Speaker 4: like legitimately a score. So I'm gonna go with Joe.
- 50:55Speaker 3: I did not, you know, it's really cool.
- 50:56Speaker 4: So like I got seats there when I went for Chris,
- 51:00Speaker 4: and I sat in the balcony, the cheap seats, and
- 51:03Speaker 4: then they called me back and they were like, hey,
- 51:05Speaker 4: we saw that you came. Would you like to come
- 51:07Speaker 4: back for like a very affordable price and sit in
- 51:10Speaker 4: like the good.
- 51:10Speaker 3: Seats And so they put me in the good seats.
- 51:12Speaker 3: Really cool man. I liked it a lot, So anyway,
- 51:15Speaker 3: I'm going with Jaws. Yes, hell yeah, that's it Earth.
- 51:22Speaker 3: None of us are. You don't know, Go ahead, Whinney.
- 51:26Speaker 1: It is John Glynn.
- 51:29Speaker 2: I know that astronaut. I was like, that's only astronaut.
- 51:32Speaker 2: I know so little there for myself.
- 51:36Speaker 3: Am I winning because I got it with I got
- 51:39Speaker 3: one point because he was the one that they said
- 51:42Speaker 3: in the movie Hidden Figures. Yes, that was the mission.
- 51:47Speaker 3: I think that they were trying to curious.
- 51:49Speaker 1: My grandpa was friends with him.
- 51:51Speaker 4: Wow, grandpa lived in Texas, so that's fair.
- 51:55Speaker 1: He was an aerospace engineer.
- 51:57Speaker 4: Oh oh there you go. Okay, Wow, it's super cool.
- 52:01Speaker 4: All right, I'm winning. Next question, I have winning travel
- 52:06Speaker 4: travel anxiety. Dear doctor Jacob and the others, I have
- 52:12Speaker 4: what I call travel anxiety. I've talked with the therapists
- 52:15Speaker 4: before about this, and clearly it's time to revisit that
- 52:19Speaker 4: and make an appointment. But I'm curious what you all
- 52:22Speaker 4: have to say about it. The day or two before
- 52:25Speaker 4: a big trip or a vacation, I start getting nervous.
- 52:28Speaker 4: My stomach goes crazy, and I start secretly wishing that
- 52:31Speaker 4: the trip would get canceled so I could do some
- 52:34Speaker 4: acting and say, oh.
- 52:36Speaker 3: No, what a shame.
- 52:38Speaker 4: I was really looking forward to this trip. The anxiety
- 52:42Speaker 4: almost always censors around an irrational fear of getting sick
- 52:47Speaker 4: or having in a bathroom emergency at an inopportune time
- 52:51Speaker 4: while I'm in a foreign or strange place and inconveniencing
- 52:55Speaker 4: the people I'm traveling with. It's definitely worse when the
- 52:58Speaker 4: destination is somewhere I've never been before. I've even noticed
- 53:02Speaker 4: this quote fear of the unknown end quote. An anxiety
- 53:06Speaker 4: start starting to creep into my daily life whenever I
- 53:10Speaker 4: have to do something out of my usual routine. Once
- 53:13Speaker 4: the anticipation is over and I'm actually doing the thing
- 53:17Speaker 4: or finally at the destination, I'm able to calm down
- 53:19Speaker 4: and mostly enjoy myself, but there's always an undercurrent of
- 53:23Speaker 4: not being able to fully relax and enjoy the experience.
- 53:28Speaker 4: When the return trip gets close, I start thinking that
- 53:30Speaker 4: I need to be careful, stay healthy, and not eat
- 53:34Speaker 4: or drink anything to adventurous because we're leaving again pretty
- 53:39Speaker 4: soon and I don't want to have a bathroom emergency
- 53:41Speaker 4: on the plane. But of course ninety nine percent of
- 53:45Speaker 4: the time, everything works out fine and nothing negative happens
- 53:49Speaker 4: to me. And the kicker is that as soon as
- 53:51Speaker 4: we get back home, I almost always have the feeling of, hey,
- 53:55Speaker 4: that was pretty fun. I wish we could go back,
- 53:58Speaker 4: and I'm always left with warm feeling and memories from
- 54:01Speaker 4: the trip. I've tried all the usual self talk stuff like, hey, me,
- 54:06Speaker 4: even if what your fearing did happen, you deal with
- 54:09Speaker 4: it in the moment and everything would probably be fine.
- 54:12Speaker 4: Worrying about it now is only making you feel worse
- 54:15Speaker 4: and might even make the thing you're worried about happen
- 54:18Speaker 4: because your stomach is a nots. But that doesn't seem
- 54:21Speaker 4: to help the anxious response my body goes through. I
- 54:24Speaker 4: know that getting out of my comfort zone is a
- 54:27Speaker 4: good and enriching thing for me to do. I don't
- 54:30Speaker 4: want to live like a hermit, but I fear that
- 54:34Speaker 4: if I was, if it wasn't for my travel loving wife,
- 54:38Speaker 4: I would rarely even plan trips for myself. Let me
- 54:41Speaker 4: know if you have any other ideas for tools or
- 54:45Speaker 4: thoughts thought reframing that might help with this issue. Sincerely,
- 54:50Speaker 4: Anonymous pronouns are he and him.
- 54:53Speaker 1: Alan on is all.
- 54:54Speaker 4: I So, first off, I struggle with this because I
- 55:00Speaker 4: relate to this.
- 55:04Speaker 3: All the way. Yeah, but somehow he's the most likely
- 55:07Speaker 3: to survive out of all Yeah, no problem, Yeah, because
- 55:13Speaker 3: of evolution. So no, oh my god, I I just
- 55:17Speaker 3: I get this so much.
- 55:18Speaker 1: So like, yeah, tell me about your experience when travel.
- 55:21Speaker 4: Girl, you don't even want to know. Okay, I'm so
- 55:26Speaker 4: scared of pooping. I'm so scared of having to poop
- 55:30Speaker 4: like that is that is the worst. Like I mean,
- 55:34Speaker 4: you know, like if you're like, oh, let's all go out,
- 55:36Speaker 4: and you're like, but what if I have to poop?
- 55:38Speaker 3: Like, that's gonna be like your worst.
- 55:41Speaker 2: Your body doesn't just shut down. I feel like when
- 55:43Speaker 2: I travel, my body's like nope, we know we can't
- 55:45Speaker 2: do anything.
- 55:46Speaker 4: So you're kind of right. My body does shut down
- 55:50Speaker 4: on camping trips, and I'll notice I don't poop for
- 55:52Speaker 4: three days. Sure, But if we are going out right now,
- 55:56Speaker 4: if you were like, hey, guys, let's all go to dinner,
- 55:58Speaker 4: my first thought would be like, but what if I
- 56:00Speaker 4: have to poop? Like they're a nice pooping place, there
- 56:04Speaker 4: is going to be weird if I boop?
- 56:05Speaker 3: How much poop do I have to poop. There are
- 56:07Speaker 3: two toilets that Jim is comfortable with. There's one in
- 56:10Speaker 3: his house and then there's one toilet out in La Jolla, California.
- 56:15Speaker 3: I love that, absolutely comfortable. Okay, if I may expand
- 56:18Speaker 3: on your thought. If someone has rented that room, we're
- 56:21Speaker 3: not going to end. So let me expand on your
- 56:24Speaker 3: thought a little bit.
- 56:24Speaker 4: So when I go to hotels, like, one of my
- 56:27Speaker 4: things is I will always use the bathroom in the lobby.
- 56:30Speaker 3: I will never use it.
- 56:31Speaker 1: I've heard this. I have friends to do this.
- 56:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I will never like that.
- 56:34Speaker 1: The lobby bathroom is the pooping bathroom.
- 56:36Speaker 3: That's the pooping bathroom.
- 56:38Speaker 4: I will not go potty in the bathroom that is
- 56:40Speaker 4: part of our hotel room because my children need to
- 56:43Speaker 4: use that bathroom and I'm not about to take it up.
- 56:46Speaker 3: They don't. You don't want your children to learn this
- 56:48Speaker 3: about you.
- 56:48Speaker 5: No, it's so funny share a hotel. You're joking, but
- 56:52Speaker 5: that is one Like, I'm so scared.
- 56:54Speaker 3: They were a hotel room with your children. Not on purpose.
- 56:58Speaker 4: It's an economical thing, Okay, But I don't want to.
- 57:01Speaker 2: Image Jim thinking about his kids being by themselves.
- 57:04Speaker 3: In the that's true.
- 57:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I can't hitle that they're by themselves. But no,
- 57:08Speaker 4: I get the writer's point.
- 57:09Speaker 5: I I if I'm paying for the bathroom, okay, in
- 57:14Speaker 5: the hotel room. Yes, that I'm using the bathroom. One
- 57:17Speaker 5: of the bet that I'm paying. Okay, on your point.
- 57:20Speaker 5: On your point, one of the best pooping experiences of
- 57:23Speaker 5: ever in my life. I was sixteen years old.
- 57:26Speaker 3: Wow, this is memorable. I'll never forget.
- 57:29Speaker 4: I'll never forget it, So I don't I don't like
- 57:33Speaker 4: to talk about it a lot because they don't want
- 57:35Speaker 4: to flex.
- 57:36Speaker 3: Pretend there's no cameras and no audio equipment. Go good,
- 57:40Speaker 3: We're just a couple of guys talking. Just a couple
- 57:42Speaker 3: of guys talking.
- 57:42Speaker 4: So Nick, When I was in high school, I went
- 57:44Speaker 4: to Europe.
- 57:45Speaker 3: Don't look at me when telling the start. Please just
- 57:47Speaker 3: look at the camera.
- 57:48Speaker 5: You said, there's no cameras, Yeah, just look at that.
- 57:52Speaker 3: When I was sixteen, I went to Europe, all right.
- 57:56Speaker 3: I went to Italy.
- 57:57Speaker 4: And in Italy I went to Venice, where the gelato
- 58:02Speaker 4: comes from, I discovered and Florence. I'm not sure what
- 58:06Speaker 4: was there, but they had a discotheca and I went
- 58:09Speaker 4: to that and I cried at the discotheca because I
- 58:12Speaker 4: felt uncomfortable the whole time. And then I went to Rome,
- 58:15Speaker 4: where the Pope lives, and I almost bought a prayer
- 58:18Speaker 4: for fifty euros city. Yes, yeah, it's in Rome. I
- 58:23Speaker 4: went to correction. I went to Vatican City inside of Rome,
- 58:28Speaker 4: which is a country where the Pope lives, and I
- 58:31Speaker 4: almost bought a prayer.
- 58:33Speaker 3: What was the point I was bringing up? I don't
- 58:35Speaker 3: know best poop I've.
- 58:35Speaker 4: Ever had in my life America and world.
- 58:40Speaker 3: I'm not necessarily against you, but it does depend on
- 58:44Speaker 3: where you live. Listen in Europe, I'm sorry, writer, we're
- 58:48Speaker 3: out of time for your question. They pay for something
- 58:51Speaker 3: called a water closet, and I paid for the water
- 58:54Speaker 3: closet best money I've ever spent in my life. It
- 58:59Speaker 3: was the most spot poop I've ever had in my life.
- 59:01Speaker 1: Because were you sharing a room up until?
- 59:03Speaker 3: No? Well like with other.
- 59:05Speaker 4: Europe's weird like, I mean, let's.
- 59:09Speaker 1: Buy yourself to Europe.
- 59:10Speaker 3: I'm like, no, I went with a group of students.
- 59:13Speaker 1: So did you have to share a room with those students?
- 59:15Speaker 3: Yeah? We shared rooms. That's because.
- 59:19Speaker 2: Have you ever paid the poop we do every day
- 59:23Speaker 2: the mortgage, myse that doesn't.
- 59:25Speaker 3: I bought several bathrooms.
- 59:27Speaker 1: There's multiple vacuum a minimum of three.
- 59:30Speaker 3: You were paid room several bathrooms?
- 59:34Speaker 4: Fine, have you ever paid for a luxury pooping experience Paris?
- 59:38Speaker 3: It wasn't luxury. Did they do the water? It was
- 59:41Speaker 3: a public toilet thing that you had to pay for.
- 59:43Speaker 4: That's what I did. That's the same thing I did.
- 59:45Speaker 4: We're both the same amount of It was.
- 59:47Speaker 3: Not memorable to me anyway, But I digress. You poop
- 59:53Speaker 3: does the pop? Here's the thing like? Okay, So as
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: far as like different techniques, I mean, you're squeeze with
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: your a you're already doing I mean the main one,
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: which I think, here's the thing like it. It doesn't
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: seem like it's stopping you from doing these things. You're
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: still traveling, which I think is really cool. So we're
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: just trying to find some ways to decrease the anxiety
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: ahead of time. Yes, I think probably distraction would be
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: one of the best things. You're already reframing it, and
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: I think in a really healthy way, like you're identifying
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: the end result. Like I've done this before, I always
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: have a good time. I'm probably overemphasizing this, I'm probably
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: maybe making the situation worse by continuing to focus on it.
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: That's working for the most part. I think the next
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: thing to do is just like, after you've had that
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: initial thought, you've reframed it, let's do some some sort
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: of distraction. Yeah.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: I think the only angle I thought of different than
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: what both of y'all shared is, you know, I had
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: a client not long ago who really struggled with anxiety,
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: kind of kind of a generalized anxiety. I know this
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: isn't so generalized it's toward travel, but certain aspects of
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: their life would come up and it would be very
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: hyper focused on that one aspect.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: So if yours is travel, it was kind of like.
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: It felt like the the fear came from the unknown
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: of like will I have to poop on this plane
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: or whatever? Like is my stomach going to be upset
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: this whole trip? You know what if? Because we're kind
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: of with anxiety imagining like worst case scenario, am I
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: going to be miserable and then stuck on this metal
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: tube flying through the air?
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: Whatever?
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: So sometimes with them, what I found to be helpful
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: was kind of answering the question. But it's like yeah,
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: maybe am I. It's kind of like a little bit
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: of acceptance in something.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: Like kind of like no, but I've heard this before,
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: where it's just kind of like yeah, and I'll be
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: okay and all bee yeah, which yeah.
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: The writer touched on a teeny bit like oh, I've
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: gotten through it before and you know I know that
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: like some version of that, but I almost mean, like
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: to an extreme of feeling like the question is out there,
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: is this going to be a terrible trip? Is it?
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: Am I going to hop these issues?
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: And it's sort of like saying, yeah, yeah, I might,
- 1:02:20Speaker 2: And it for some reason eases to know the answer
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: because anxiety lives in like the EndNote, right.
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: And it's empowering because it's like I guess that would suck,
- 1:02:28Speaker 4: and I know I will be okay.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: People people have upset stomachs on planes. Yes, I sent
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: sixteen hours on a plane. Yeah, one flight, So people
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: have stomach issues on that.
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, oh yeah, I mean I've done the stomach
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: issues on flights thing before and oh it's just hell.
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: Every time, but you get through it, yes, Like is
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: that the end of the world?
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: Yeah, unless you get sucked out through the toilet and
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: the plane, in which case for you, it is the
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: end of the world.
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: Which happens a lot. It happens more than Southwest wants
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: to admit. Yes, I'll tell you that, right legal, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: because it doesn't happen right yeah.
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: Never, No, Spirit doesn't have impossible doesn't Yeah, exactly. They
- 1:03:16Speaker 5: just don't have to toilet.
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: You gotta swipe the card to get.
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: In, and it's very there's one you have to pay for.
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: Some paper towels waded up on the floor. I promise
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: you to go in there barefoot.
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: Yes, I promise you in our lifetimes there will be
- 1:03:37Speaker 4: a pay.
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: For toilet on an airplane. I subscription is going by
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: the time we agreed to be platinum.
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: Okay, let me tell you how, with one subtle, small
- 1:03:49Speaker 5: little flip, the airlines can make that money and.
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: We'll thank them for it. Okay.
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: You keep the free bathrooms on there, Okay, and then
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: you have an upgrade.
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: You have a bathroom.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: But you're right about this, Yes.
- 1:04:03Speaker 5: God, if you're on an eight hour flight, you're like,
- 1:04:05Speaker 5: and it's like an extra hundred bucks and you can
- 1:04:07Speaker 5: use the first last bathroom.
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: No, you're paying it. You're right, I know. I mean
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: on things that I will drop money on.
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I will drop money to make that a comfortable experience,
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: especially if I can do it.
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: On the plane.
- 1:04:23Speaker 5: And you can make it a free perk for first
- 1:04:26Speaker 5: last tickets. You can make an extra thing to charge
- 1:04:29Speaker 5: more for the class tickets as well. How many change
- 1:04:32Speaker 5: out one of the bathrooms, one of the sets of
- 1:04:34Speaker 5: dual bathrooms that are next to each other, You pull
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: that out and you put a single one in that space, A.
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: Little little bear rug at the front. I mean obviously
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: just a recliner with a hole in it. Yeah, you're
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: doing you're doing what trains are already doing. That's true. Yeah,
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: because that's basically what Amtrak. Yeah, because I was looking
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: at Yeah, because my mother has a terrible wondering Yeah,
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: tangement pulls the main train. That's what's happening. Keep my
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: mom's name, you got it mouth, she's not keeping out
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: of her mouth. Oh Mom, I've change from the t
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: I might be changing the two out of the three.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: Now.
- 1:05:23Speaker 3: Uh No. So I've been looking at at Amtrak to
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: get her a ticket to come down. And so they've
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: got the same thing like where you've got like you
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: can go coach and you've got the public restrooms on
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: each one, or you can go into a room at
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: and you will still share. But then you've got the bedroom,
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: and then you've got the family room, which both have
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: their own bathroom inside. And so even if you do
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: the room at, then yes you're you have a public
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: or shared bathroom, but it's a one within their train.
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: There are car so it's better than even that you're sharing.
- 1:05:55Speaker 5: Instead of sharing it with like a car of thirty people,
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: you're sharing it with five people.
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: Yeah, got it. Now those five people are fucking disgusting.
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: Yes, it's honestly the single best thing about the times
- 1:06:08Speaker 5: that I've been in the UH. In the sweets at
- 1:06:11Speaker 5: T Mobile Arena to watch things like nights games, you have.
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: Your own bathroom.
- 1:06:16Speaker 5: It's usually shared between two sweets, so it's your sweet
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: another suite that shares this.
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: Going back, I've gone to Yeah, yeah, I just I
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: just go in my seat. I pay for the seat.
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: I believe that most people did. I paid for the seat.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: There we go.
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: Yeah, you're in the right set. Try to stop paid
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: for it. I didn't see any rules last time. America.

- 1:07:18Speaker 4: Oh Jesus log log.
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: Your neighbor's dog.
- 1:07:30Speaker 5: I'm gonna go away, something similar to what Jim just saying.
- 1:07:34Speaker 5: I'm gonna go with the slinky.
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: No, I'm sorry. That was a great great options options,
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: There are options options, silly putty slinky. Oh well, Barbie

- 1:07:57Speaker 3: you don't think so.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: I think it's gonna be mister potato head.
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: It is mister potato Yeah, good moves. Having heard all

- 1:08:27Speaker 1: Oh my god, I do that adorable.
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: You had to have your own potato. It makes it
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: way more interesting. Yeah, it does.
- 1:08:33Speaker 5: You just got a potato and had little metal spikes on,
- 1:08:35Speaker 5: like the little things that it would just spike into
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: the potato.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: Yeah, there's still sets of them.
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: You find them on eBay and stuff. Extra rules. Whitney,

- 1:08:52Speaker 3: God damn it.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: I feel like I should option. Hold on. I'm going

- 1:09:00Speaker 3: You can steal it.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: Yeah, if you get this right off the bully. I'm
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: a feminist, so.
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: You know that. I believe it's Madam Cury.
- 1:09:08Speaker 5: I was Marie Curie, Madam Madam whatever her Marie Marie
- 1:09:14Speaker 5: Cury Curie correct now.
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: Later died from the radiation.
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: Was someone like that.
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: But I can quite remember studying radiation and eventually at Guilder.
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: Yeah, whitening of you to let a man guess get
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: the points and get nothing in return and then get demands.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: Well I'm impressed. Yeah, and then he did the extra
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: explaining that we already knew.
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: Her name was Curi.
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: How do you spell it? I never heard of that.
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: Oh I don't know. I don't know Wedney nineteen ten
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: before or after?
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, I should have watched that Radium girls.
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: I totally watched a documentary on.
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: After.
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: That's when she won her second thank you, I got
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: her first one was in eighteen oh three. All right, Jim,
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: what was the first food chain in the United States?
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: Fuck me? I mean right like.
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: McDonald's.
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: I'll bet you it's not. I'll bet you McDonald's like
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: the first.
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: That means there's two of them, like more than one.
- 1:10:17Speaker 4: Give me options. It's gonna be it's gonna be some
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: dumb ass thing.
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: Go ahead, white Castle, McDonald's, Howard Johnson's, or Dairy Queen.
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: All right?
- 1:10:29Speaker 4: So ho, joser, I thought it was a hotel chain, right,
- 1:10:33Speaker 4: a buffet.
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: I think it's Howard Johnson did the hotel. No, it's
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: an American thing, Tim Tim Tim Martin's.
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: I'll bet you the Hojo's is solid, all right. So
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: we had White Castle, which I don't feel good about it.
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: I'm gonna let that one go.
- 1:10:49Speaker 4: McDonald's, McDonald's, Hojo's, and Dairy Queen McDonald's.
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: Dude, I feel pretty good about Dairy Queen. I mean
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: it's kind of got a retro vibe, right it does.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: Dairy Queen.
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: Yes, No, give me Dairy Queen. No.
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: I tried to help you in the family a helper
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: around here, and Jacob accepted my You.
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: Did not goes to Jacob.
- 1:11:16Speaker 5: What it was Johnson's McDonald's and White Castle, White Cat.
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: I don't know how Johnson's No, Oh, is it McDonald's.
- 1:11:25Speaker 5: No, it's got to be White Castle. No, I would
- 1:11:29Speaker 5: like to choose White Castle. I knew it wasn't McDonald's.
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: All I could think of was the Michael Keaton movie
- 1:11:34Speaker 5: The Founder.
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: That's what I was thinking. I didn't watch that. I
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: wanted to. It's about when they started McDonald's.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: They were trying to copy.
- 1:11:42Speaker 5: Well, no, but there are just already other chained restaurants
- 1:11:44Speaker 5: around that and that didn't know.
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: McDonald's didn't open until nineteen forty. White Castle open in Wichita,
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: Kansas in nineteen.
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: How you tell you all bend? So the White Castle
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: and White Castle closing. I just went for the first time,
- 1:11:59Speaker 4: like we to go in there. So it's pretty trash
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: really it's White Castle, but you like that's what they're known.
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: Well, I didn't know that. It's like walking into a
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: waffle house being like, this isn't that nice? It was
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: not around here. I was not impressed. Yeah, it was
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: pretty gross. So they were trying to impress. Well, it's not.
- 1:12:24Speaker 4: The way that ship gets like spun up the no,
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: but like the way that she gets spun up in
- 1:12:30Speaker 4: Las Vegas is like the nostalgia is pumping one hundred percent.
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: So they're like, oh, White Castle.
- 1:12:35Speaker 4: There's two locations where you can go and you're like,
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: oh my god cool, or like Steak and Shake and
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: you're like, oh my god, this is so cool.
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: People love steak and Shake here.
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: The one in South Point is I mean busy.
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: Okay, have you been there?
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: I walked by it.
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: Have you been there, Jacob? Not recently. I've been there
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: like once once or twice ever, Nick? Have you been there?
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: I haven't been to.
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: How many in Texas that I got here And I'm like,
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: why the fuck? Is there a line at Steak and Ship?
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: Yeah, it's the nostalgia, right, so like it's it's just
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: what he wasn't everywhere, like it wasn't on the West.
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: There's only like one in Vegas and it wasn't before.
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: It's like the guy. I think there's one downtown now
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: and one in South Point now. Yeah.
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just a cheap burger place. It's cheap burger,
- 1:13:15Speaker 4: shaken fries. It's fine. There's nothing exciting about it. But
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: though then the chili on spaghetti, that's right.
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: We don't know what it's all about.
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: But anyway, right, good luck, all right.
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: Next question, medication updates for mental health from our friend Test.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: Hey, my, hey, Test, Hey speaking your language?
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: Is that Bud? Is that why you thre? Yeah? Oh
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: is that a thing? Yeah?
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: Okay, it sounds like you're from Minnesota.
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: Minnesota, Alberta.
- 1:13:50Speaker 4: Oh Ship, Hey, my lovely besties, miss you all already,
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: and I haven't even been back home that long. You
- 1:13:57Speaker 4: may remember I sent him a letter a while back
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: about medication curiosity in a nutshell, I'm taking lexapro for
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: depression and anxiety and it levels me out, but I
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: can't come so frustrating.
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: Right, Well, I went back to my doctor. By the way, nice, yeah,
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: dog got it? Fuck great, thanks tests.
- 1:14:19Speaker 4: It's not fair that I read the fucking questions, all right,
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: because I'm Ron Burgundy out here just reading what of.
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: The fuck they write? It's not fair. Go on.
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: Well, I went back to my doctor and he referred
- 1:14:30Speaker 4: me to a psychiatrist to discuss other medication options. We
- 1:14:33Speaker 4: went through the typical intake interview and discussed my issues
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: a little. We settled on a few different options. We
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: are going to try. Number one, we are going to
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: lower my current dose for a period of time to
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: see if that helps with any side effects, and also
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: if it negatively affects my issues or if I can
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: work to come off of it fully. Number two, he
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: gave me a short term prescrip for well butrin. Once
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: I'm on the lower dose for a while, if I
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: feel I still need medicinal support, I can feel that
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: prescription and see how it goes and if the side
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: effects are less or non existent. Number three, of course,
- 1:15:15Speaker 4: he recommended therapy. Everybody drink, specifically cognitive behavioral therapy from
- 1:15:21Speaker 4: anxiety and worry issues. Even though I'm not certain that's
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: my largest issue, but it is the easiest one to describe,
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: so he focused on that quite a lot. I tried
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: to explain my depression better, but I guess I just
- 1:15:37Speaker 4: have a hard time putting it into words. Maybe I
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: need a therapist.
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: Ha ha.
- 1:15:43Speaker 4: In Canada, our free quote healthcare doesn't cover mental health
- 1:15:48Speaker 4: other than things like group therapy, meetings and things of
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: that nature. If your job has benefits, there is usually
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: some coverage or discount for mental health. But unfortunately, my
- 1:15:58Speaker 4: job doesn't currently have benefits. This is a problem because
- 1:16:01Speaker 4: I really don't know that group sessions will be helpful
- 1:16:05Speaker 4: to me, and they often take place during work hours.
- 1:16:09Speaker 4: He did give me a couple resources for lower cost
- 1:16:13Speaker 4: one on one therapy options, so I'll be looking into
- 1:16:16Speaker 4: that to see if I can supplement with my meds
- 1:16:18Speaker 4: with actual therapy. I'm hopeful, but frustrated. The frustration just
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: comes from the feeling of playing Russian Roulette with meds
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: until something works, which is exhausting and scary. Is I
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: have not had good experiences when switching meds. I'm going
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: to do it all and work to get a system
- 1:16:37Speaker 4: that works for me, and we'll see what happens or
- 1:16:41Speaker 4: I'll just pack up and move to Las Vegas. Is
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: there a park I can squad in for an extended
- 1:16:47Speaker 4: period of time. Just wanted to send along the update
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: and also hopefully if someone else is dealing with this, No,
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: you're not alone, and I know it fucking sucks going
- 1:16:57Speaker 4: through the process, but hopefully it's for things to be
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: better in the long run. As always, love you all
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: sexually xoxo. Tests slightly slutty scoop.
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: Medication changes are a bitch because they take months, Like
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: like your doctor will say, try this med give it
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: a month, and then oh you need to change meds,
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: like taper off for a couple of weeks and then
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: start the next med and like taper up now, and
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: you're giving it. I mean you're months into it by
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: the time you've tried like maybe two medications. And then
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: maybe you're like, oh, there's a side effect. Do we
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: just add something to counter that side effect? Or like
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: test is going through, are they going to lighten it up?
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: Then? I mean it's almost like trying to locate a
- 1:17:40Speaker 3: food allergy.
- 1:17:41Speaker 5: Weird.
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: I don't know what sex with all the foods.
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, libido stays up with the food allergy depending
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: on what the allergy is.
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: This is true. Yeah, I mean the nice thing is
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: that you've got a doctor. It sounds like you've got
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: a pretty good relationship with that. You can you're really
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: you need to work with your doctor as like this
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: is a team approach, you know, as opposed to the
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: doctors just like here, take this and then well you'll
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: feel better to just be able to have that open
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: communication and give your doctor feedback as much as you
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: possibly can on what are you noticing, what are you feeling,
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: and and and is it going to work for you?
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: And then so hopefully to make that process as smooth
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: as possible. You know, that's my first piece of advice.
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: I mean, we mnd know some parks in Vegas if
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: you need a long stay.
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: It is getting warmer. You're not going to freeze at night.
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: That's really nice. Yep, warm, but that's really nice. Yeah,
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: that's so beautiful. Don't worry about the days.
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm really glad that you're getting to try this out.
- 1:18:41Speaker 4: So this is one of those things that like when
- 1:18:44Speaker 4: you get on the social Internet and you look up
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: the typical medicines that we prescribe for you know, anti
- 1:18:50Speaker 4: depression or anti anxiety usually discover s s R. I's right,
- 1:18:53Speaker 4: like the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. And just to take
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: a second on this, because we don't get to talked
- 1:18:59Speaker 4: about this lot, and something I think is really important
- 1:19:01Speaker 4: for public education. You have like all these different neurotransmitters
- 1:19:05Speaker 4: in your brain, right, So you have serotonin and dopamine
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: and orprian effort and all these interesting things. So like
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: what SSRIs selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors are doing is essentially
- 1:19:16Speaker 4: I just want you to imagine for a second, like
- 1:19:18Speaker 4: these little bathroom sinks in your brain, right, and each
- 1:19:21Speaker 4: sink is like dripping a different neurotransmitter. So there's a
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: little sink that's dripping serotonin. That's just one of the
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: neurotransmitters in your brain has a specific function. So what
- 1:19:32Speaker 4: this medicine is doing, what SSRIs are doing, is they
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: are inhibiting the re uptake of some of that serotonin.
- 1:19:40Speaker 4: So imagine that they're just like rolling up these little
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: tissue paper balls and they're basically just tossing them in
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: the sink. So you've got this dripping sink that's dripping serotonin,
- 1:19:50Speaker 4: and you have these little tissue paper balls that are
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: going into the drain, and they're basically just like stopping
- 1:19:56Speaker 4: the reuptake the drain of that neurotransmitter. So essentially, what
- 1:20:02Speaker 4: these medicines are doing is, over time, they're allowing you
- 1:20:05Speaker 4: to kind of marinate in your specific natural kind of
- 1:20:09Speaker 4: herbs and spices, in this case, serotonin. And so over time,
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: what we tend to there it is it's the original recipe.
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: So what we tend to see is that when we
- 1:20:18Speaker 4: allow the brain to marinade in its own serotonin, it
- 1:20:22Speaker 4: increases what's called the dendritic forests. So when you were
- 1:20:26Speaker 4: in a high school biology, you learned in your study
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: of the brain that the brain has all these neuron cells,
- 1:20:33Speaker 4: these dendrites, right, and so you have all these cells
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: that sort of branch out and they reach out and
- 1:20:38Speaker 4: they touch each other in these little synapses. What we've
- 1:20:40Speaker 4: noticed is that whenever we saturate your brain in its
- 1:20:44Speaker 4: own serotonin, we're not adding anything to it, that it
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: tends to densify the forest between all these little dendrites,
- 1:20:52Speaker 4: these neuron cells.
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: In your brain.
- 1:20:55Speaker 4: And we notice that when that happens, it has a
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: counteractive effect again depression and also against anxiety. So that's
- 1:21:04Speaker 4: what SSR eyes are now.
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: So go ahead, what out of that is helpful to test?
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: So yeah, it's come full circle. So for tests, test
- 1:21:15Speaker 4: is on a different medicine, right, So she's on well buttrin.
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: So while buttrin is interesting because for some people when
- 1:21:21Speaker 4: they're on those SSRIs, they will notice one of the
- 1:21:24Speaker 4: side effects that we see, which is again very rare,
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: and a lot of people get really scared to try
- 1:21:29Speaker 4: out SSRIs because they're scared there's going to be a
- 1:21:32Speaker 4: nausea side effect, or a weight gain side effect, or
- 1:21:35Speaker 4: a sexual side effect. And what you really need to
- 1:21:37Speaker 4: understand is that all three of those side effects feeling nauseous,
- 1:21:41Speaker 4: gaining weight, and low libido or inability to climax, those
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: are also side effects that we tend to notice with depression.
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:21:50Speaker 4: So like when we're giving you a medicine to treat
- 1:21:52Speaker 4: an ailment, and that ailment also causes the same things
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: that could be side effects of a medicine, you want
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: to take those side effects with a grain of salt, right, So,
- 1:22:00Speaker 4: like for some people, and in Tessa's case, for tests,
- 1:22:03Speaker 4: for sure, she experienced this side effect of inability to
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: sexually climax, and we notice that in men and women
- 1:22:10Speaker 4: sometimes it is a rare side effect of what SSRIs accomplish.
- 1:22:15Speaker 4: So what's neat about what Tessa's doctor ultimately did is
- 1:22:19Speaker 4: they prescribed her well buttrim. So what we like about
- 1:22:22Speaker 4: well Buttrin or bupropion is the other name for it,
- 1:22:25Speaker 4: is that this medicine has a really cool partnering effect
- 1:22:29Speaker 4: with these SSRIs. So why we like well buttrim is
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: it will work with SSRIs and a it will augment
- 1:22:37Speaker 4: or boost their healing powers just all by itself. So
- 1:22:42Speaker 4: sometimes people aren't noticing their depressions getting better, and their
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: doctor keeps raising them on their like lexapro or their seertraline,
- 1:22:51Speaker 4: their SSRIs, their prozac, And then what will happen is
- 1:22:54Speaker 4: we'll give them well buttrin and that adds this whole
- 1:22:57Speaker 4: cool magnifying effect will actually make them even more power
- 1:23:00Speaker 4: without having to raise it, which is really really cool.
- 1:23:03Speaker 4: But then the other effect that doctors tend to like
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: about well Buttrin bupropeon is that it actually counteracts some
- 1:23:09Speaker 4: of the very rare and mild side effects that we
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: tend to notice with ssri.
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: So in Tessa's case.
- 1:23:16Speaker 4: Here, we see that she's talking about a sexual side
- 1:23:18Speaker 4: effect to the inability to climax that does happen sometimes
- 1:23:21Speaker 4: while buttrin bupropeon kicks up the efficacy of the overall
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: SSRI and it actually takes a bite out of that
- 1:23:30Speaker 4: side effect, of the sexual side effect. So generally speaking,
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: it's very very effective. And what's really cool about that
- 1:23:36Speaker 4: bupropion the well putrin is it's actually another kind of
- 1:23:40Speaker 4: reuptake inhibitor. So where you have your typical SSRI selective
- 1:23:44Speaker 4: serotonin reuptake inhibitor, this is anura pernephrin dopamine reuptake inhibitor
- 1:23:49Speaker 4: and n DRI, So it's a different kind of couple
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: of different sinks, those little dripping faucets in the brain.
- 1:23:56Speaker 4: So again, none of these medicines are adding anything to
- 1:23:59Speaker 4: your neural chemistry. They're allowing your neurochemistry to enjoy more
- 1:24:04Speaker 4: of what it already organically makes on its own. And
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: so essentially all these meds pulled together can kind of
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: solve the problem. So what I love is about that's what.
- 1:24:13Speaker 3: The six hour ADHD deep dive.
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: Very close, yeah, very very similar to that same idea.
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: So anyway, the point that.
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: I'm trying to come to is like, I'm really proud
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: of tests because when you're dealing with stagnant depression and
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: then you start taking the meds, you're doing what you're
- 1:24:29Speaker 4: supposed to do and you notice you're having side effects,
- 1:24:31Speaker 4: it's so easy to quit, it's so easy to lose heart.
- 1:24:34Speaker 4: And in this case, tests went back to the doctors
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: and told them more and they did for tests what
- 1:24:39Speaker 4: we actually really expect the doctors to do, which is
- 1:24:43Speaker 4: to prescribe her well bututrin slash bupropion, and it usually
- 1:24:47Speaker 4: eliminates the sexual side effects and it boosts the power
- 1:24:51Speaker 4: of the antidepressant. So all those things combined together, all
- 1:24:56Speaker 4: these little dripping syncs, together with the little clog drains,
- 1:24:59Speaker 4: ultimately a for a better neural chemistry, which overall causes
- 1:25:03Speaker 4: healing for the person.
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: I don't know about you, guys, but I'd rather hear
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: from a doctor than Jim.
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: That's fair, That's fair. I don't know.
- 1:25:09Speaker 5: I mean, take take some ship, don't take some ship,
- 1:25:11Speaker 5: feel better, don't feel better?
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: Perfect?
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: Thank you?
- 1:25:15Speaker 3: No, Here's I wouldn't throw out the therapy yet, I
- 1:25:18Speaker 3: mean the group therapy. If you can make it right,
- 1:25:21Speaker 3: give it a shot. Like worst case scenario, you're you're
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: out a couple of hours. But I mean there may
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: be some other.
- 1:25:29Speaker 5: Case scenario that other people in the group therapy could
- 1:25:31Speaker 5: team up and beat the ship out of the top.
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: Huh that scenario that's worst case.
- 1:25:35Speaker 5: I haven't Yeah, I mean you got worst case you're
- 1:25:40Speaker 5: out numbering yourself.
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: Worst case you don't die from it, you're just really injured.
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: This that would be terrible. You just have to live
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: with it. Yeah.
- 1:25:51Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like that that Share movie.
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: It's exactly like that Share movie. Yeah. I was gonna
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: say it's like that Share movie. Yeah, yeah, that would suck. Yes,
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: that would suck in the Share movie that Yeah, that
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: would be terrible. So anyway, I would try the group therapy,
- 1:26:10Speaker 3: give it a shot, honestly, nothing to lose, And there
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: may be other people in the group kind of going
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: through the same thing that maybe they've found something that's helpful,
- 1:26:20Speaker 3: and you can share a lot of information. There's a
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: lot of stuff that from group therapy they can get
- 1:26:24Speaker 3: from other people in group that's way more beneficial sometimes
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: than what you get even from your therapist. That's true.
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: Or the psychiatrist. Yeah, but do your best to not
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: give up on it and continue to It's it sucks,
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: it's a slow process. Like Whitney said, it's.
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: Usually worth it though, even clients or friends who have
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: gone through that, like all of the metadjustments and trying
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: different things. The frustration is there, but most of the
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: time the benefit is there too.
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: Yeah. I will say, you know, you did bring up
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: a lot of anxiety about like kind of feeling like
- 1:26:55Speaker 3: it's Russian Roulette with all of these meds and stuff,
- 1:26:58Speaker 3: and that does feel scary. But in the grand scope
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: of medicine, which I know nothing about, but we'll talk
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: about it right now. It these are pretty low stakes
- 1:27:11Speaker 3: with these medications. Yeah, So that's not like anything that's
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: overly serious. I mean, we we still take it seriously,
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: of course, but it's not anything that not life and death.
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: You don't need to be, you know, too worried about.
- 1:27:25Speaker 4: Yeah, that's absolutely true. So I'm just proud of you.
- 1:27:28Speaker 4: I'm proud of you for giving it a shot. I'm
- 1:27:29Speaker 4: proud of you for working on it. I think this
- 1:27:32Speaker 4: could be something where you know you're you're going to
- 1:27:34Speaker 4: ultimately find progress and as long as it's something that
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: you're you know, working on medicinally, you're going to find
- 1:27:39Speaker 4: answers tests, So don't give up on this. And you know,
- 1:27:42Speaker 4: I'm really glad that you're willing to try the whole
- 1:27:44Speaker 4: group counseling thing too. I'm actually teaching the group counseling
- 1:27:48Speaker 4: class right now with UNLV for graduate students.
- 1:27:51Speaker 3: So this is an invitation.
- 1:27:55Speaker 4: Therapy group noudes.
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: If you're listening to this stuff right.
- 1:27:59Speaker 4: Now, just email me. I'll tell you where to go test. No,
- 1:28:02Speaker 4: but I know the location, he does, He knows. Yeah,
- 1:28:07Speaker 4: I share it with Nick just the case anything about
- 1:28:09Speaker 4: it happens. But like one of the things that we
- 1:28:11Speaker 4: often try to inform people about is that actually group
- 1:28:16Speaker 4: counseling is as effective or more effective than individual counseling.
- 1:28:21Speaker 4: And a lot of people don't know that or expect that.
- 1:28:23Speaker 4: When you think of therapy, you think of one on one.
- 1:28:26Speaker 4: It's really intimidated to sit with a group. But actually,
- 1:28:29Speaker 4: more often than not, we tend to see that that's
- 1:28:32Speaker 4: very very healing. So, you know, tests, be open minded
- 1:28:37Speaker 4: because you never know if that's going to be something
- 1:28:39Speaker 4: that is very about not at all, tests is considered
- 1:28:43Speaker 4: very close minded. Yeah, just living in her little world
- 1:28:46Speaker 4: and unwilling to try new things.
- 1:28:48Speaker 3: Yes, absolutely, that's what I think of when I think
- 1:28:50Speaker 3: of tests.
- 1:28:51Speaker 4: Anyway, Thank you, Tess, We love you. Good luck as
- 1:28:54Speaker 4: we wrap up the show. Wait note, we're gonna take
- 1:28:56Speaker 4: a break, and when we come back, we're wrapping up

- 1:29:21Speaker 4: more trivia where I win.
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: Okay, you didn't, I think I did. I think that's
- 1:29:28Speaker 3: like your opinion.
- 1:29:29Speaker 5: Man again, Okay, most likely to survive out of the forest,
- 1:29:33Speaker 5: so likely that's the claim. Yeah, Well, we really found
- 1:29:36Speaker 5: out today is that Jim does not know what an
- 1:29:37Speaker 5: opinion is. Yeah, every time he said that's your opinion,
- 1:29:41Speaker 5: he's just been factually incorrect about that sentence.
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, that's like your opinion.
- 1:29:48Speaker 4: Man, uh huh, Yeah, this hostility will not stand.
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: Oh yeah, it's a provable thing.
- 1:29:54Speaker 5: Yeah, it's even recorded, an even stopped watching the news.
- 1:30:00Speaker 5: That's what you're not wrong. Yeah, because like your speech
- 1:30:05Speaker 5: patterns are now like trumpion.
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: Okay, okay, are you noticing it? Oh yeah, okay instead
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: of instead of sharpies, you spend a lot of time
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: on SSRIs. SSRIs are your sharpie.
- 1:30:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:30:17Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm going to over explain every little detail that
- 1:30:22Speaker 5: no one asked about.

- 1:30:28Speaker 3: it makes a lot of right.

- 1:30:33Speaker 4: saying at the bar, okay, yeah, I noticed you didn't
- 1:30:37Speaker 4: object when I said it though, so that's interesting.
- 1:30:42Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a weird stand. Didn't see you complaining when
