- 0:36Speaker 2: What's up brother?
- 0:36Speaker 2: What's up man?
- 0:38Speaker 2: We're talking college football.
- 0:39Speaker 2: I know I'm so excited.
- 0:41Speaker 1: I welcome to the prediction show.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Mike and I are gonna talk about some predictions before we do that.
- 0:45Speaker 1: The top of first thing orders.
- 0:46Speaker 1: You all know what you drinking man, what's you, what you sipping on tonight.
- 0:51Speaker 2: I'm drinking a Well, nothing unusual for me.
- 0:53Speaker 2: I've got the hazy double IPA.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Stone fear movie lions.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Once again, once again broke.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Don't fix it.
- 1:01Speaker 1: You know it's not broke.
- 1:02Speaker 1: It is not broke at all, so you should not try to fix.
- 1:04Speaker 1: That's just good, wholesome advice.
- 1:06Speaker 1: I have a new drink, but I'm also still on island time, still at the beach and island boy, I'm drinking a nooner, I'm drinking a high noon, drinking a vodka.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Supposed to this, this is a grapefruit vodka soda.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Um, uh.
- 1:20Speaker 1: So again I'm on the beach.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Last week I brought back all these like beach beers.
- 1:23Speaker 1: I'm not gonna throw them away, I'm just gonna like drink them until they're going that would be nonsense.
- 1:27Speaker 1: That would be nonsense and also to be fair, I said beers.
- 1:30Speaker 1: This isn't a beer.
- 1:30Speaker 1: To be fair, it's a vodka drink.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Um, but um, it's I mean, is this kind of a?
- 1:34Speaker 2: It's a thing, it's a thing I don't?
- 1:37Speaker 1: I don't hate it.
- 1:37Speaker 1: I don't hate it.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I like a nooner every now and then, so I'm drinking a vodka grapefruit tonight.
- 1:43Speaker 1: So there you have it.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Uh, good stuff.
- 1:45Speaker 1: So tonight, we are going to talk a little bit about predictions.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Mike and I are going to put our bets down.
- 1:51Speaker 1: We're going to say what is going to happen.
- 1:53Speaker 1: So, really, you know what?
- 1:54Speaker 1: If you don't even actually want to watch college football the season, you don't have to, because Mike and I are just gonna tell you how it's gonna work out, um, and that's all nonsense, then we're not.
- 2:01Speaker 1: So what's we're gonna do?
- 2:02Speaker 1: Um, this is another one of those shows that Mike and I love to revisit december.
- 2:05Speaker 1: We love to put our picks down on paper.
- 2:07Speaker 1: You can revisit them at the end of the season and make fun of us, um, but we're gonna make some picks.
- 2:11Speaker 1: What we're gonna do tonight is we're going to pick the two teams that are going to play in the conference championship of the power five divisions.
- 2:19Speaker 1: What we're gonna do, though, is we're we've agreed that we're not you.
- 2:22Speaker 1: We cannot pick the same teams, so we're gonna do it snake style.
- 2:26Speaker 1: So, for every conference, let's say, the ACC is where we'll start Michael pick first, I'll pick second and third, he'll pick fourth.
- 2:32Speaker 1: We'll see at the end of in december which who got more teams right.
- 2:36Speaker 1: We're also going to do the playoff.
- 2:38Speaker 1: We're going to do your overall champion and we're going to pick, uh, unranked 10 and tend to unranked, and when we get to that I'll kind of talk with that a little bit more.
- 2:45Speaker 1: We'll explain that, but essentially what we're going to do is we're going to hit you with some awesome predictions For this week.
- 2:49Speaker 1: So you want to get some bets in.
- 2:50Speaker 1: You want to coat run our coattails, you want to dunk on us when we're wrong.
- 2:54Speaker 1: However, you want to do all of that is good, um, so let's go ahead and start with the um, acc.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Oh, the ACC is doing what is done away with divisions.
- 3:03Speaker 1: This year there is no coastal atlantic, it's just all the teams.
- 3:07Speaker 1: The top two advance.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Um, mike won the coin.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Toss that.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Mike not me won the coiton.
- 3:12Speaker 1: So Mike gets the first pick of the ACC.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Uh, uh, who is going to play in the conference champion draft?
- 3:19Speaker 1: Mike?
- 3:20Speaker 1: Who is your, uh, who's your one seed in the ACC?
- 3:23Speaker 2: Yes, thank you, michael.
- 3:24Speaker 2: With the first pick of the ACC, mike white from Mike blitz selects Florida state.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Florida state solid bay.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Uh, state, tell me why you like Florida state, uh.
- 3:40Speaker 2: So this is kind of a two team race, as we all know, uh, or as as we should know, uh comes in Florida state and I just really like what Florida state's putting together Clemson, um, they're bringing back kade club, nick Um, and they're gonna play each their.
- 3:55Speaker 2: This game is gonna play out on the field probably twice.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Like you, clemson, you're during Travis.
- 3:59Speaker 2: What you meant?
- 3:59Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I mean Clemson is bringing back club nick.
- 4:04Speaker 2: And that's why I pick Florida state, because it's it's between either team and I like Florida state better.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Uh, their schedule plays out really favor, favorably.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Um, I just think that they Kind of have the edge.
- 4:17Speaker 2: I, you know, we'll find out early on, because they play in week four, I think, um, and if that's a close one, that's going to tell us a lot.
- 4:24Speaker 2: If it's, you know, if it's a beat down, we'll see.
- 4:28Speaker 2: But both teams should see one another again in the ACC championship.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's a great pick.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Um, and actually that would be my one seed as well.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Um, jordan Travis is good.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Mike novell has got them humming.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Uh, jared verse is going to be a first rounder, probably top 10 pick, coming off the defensive end.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Um, I don't, I'm gonna hate that as well.
- 4:45Speaker 2: I'm obviously get your verse should have been a ball.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Yeah, it happens.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Uh, it happens.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I'm gonna take, uh, clemson.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Obviously Clemson is in the in the ACC.
- 4:54Speaker 1: It is a 1a, 1b picture right now and there's a huge drop off.
- 4:58Speaker 1: So obviously one of us getting Clemson and one of us getting One of us getting Florida state is pretty, pretty, pretty obvious the way we're gonna do the thing.
- 5:07Speaker 1: So I'm gonna take Clemson.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Their defense is super salty.
- 5:11Speaker 1: They're going to be an incredibly salty unit.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I've got, no doubt about that, really excited.
- 5:15Speaker 1: We're excited for them.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Uh, okay, club makes can really only get better.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Um, and, frankly, there's just the drop off.
- 5:22Speaker 1: The drop off between Clemson and Florida state Is super substantial.
- 5:27Speaker 1: The drop off between Clemson, florida state and everybody below them is just crazy.
- 5:31Speaker 1: And I just I think there's such a talent discrepancy it's hard for me to see that kind of going any any other way.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Really, frankly, yeah, no, uh, mikey with me.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Still All right, sorry, sorry, folks, that will take all difficulties.
- 5:49Speaker 1: We are all back and live again.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Uh, just catching catches up.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Um, my pick Florida state.
- 5:54Speaker 1: I picked Clemson.
- 5:55Speaker 1: My next pick is in.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I'm taking Miami.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Miami, it's just a matter of.
- 5:59Speaker 1: I was obviously everybody knows I was way off on Tyler van Dyke.
- 6:02Speaker 1: He is back.
- 6:03Speaker 1: This is the year I was a year early on Tyler van Dyke.
- 6:07Speaker 1: I'm bringing him back.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I got Miami the you, the canes.
- 6:10Speaker 1: They are going to shock the world that they're gonna find a way in.
- 6:13Speaker 1: I think they're clearly the number three best team in the ACC.
- 6:16Speaker 1: So give me Miami canes, all right.
- 6:19Speaker 1: So Clemson, florida, state, miami are off the board.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Who you got uh placing uh, who you got.
- 6:24Speaker 2: So this is just for a third pick, or no, this is for the, the ACC championship yes, you already got.
- 6:30Speaker 2: You've already got the.
- 6:31Speaker 2: The best.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Other two picks I'm gonna go Pittsburgh, patton or doozy.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Pittsburgh's defense always solid.
- 6:37Speaker 2: They're gonna run the ball.
- 6:39Speaker 2: They're gonna throw a lot of crazy blitzes at you.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Um, they've got a decent amount of experience coming back.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Always a good run game.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Give me Pittsburgh, all right.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Pittsburgh.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Don't hate it.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Don't hate it.
- 6:49Speaker 1: All right, good stuff.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Let's uh flip over to the sec.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Um, this time I will go first.
- 6:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna take, I'm gonna take the who I think everyone thinks is gonna win the whole dang thing.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Take it Georgia.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Um, it's just they.
- 7:00Speaker 1: They've.
- 7:00Speaker 1: They've earned it.
- 7:01Speaker 1: The respect is given to them.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Their schedule is charm and soft.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I would love to see your vols Knock them off and get there, but until they do, georgia's, the pick Georgia is.
- 7:13Speaker 1: If I'm gonna ask one team to bet is gonna make it to Atlanta, I gotta pick Georgia.
- 7:17Speaker 1: So now you get give, give me your Georgia thoughts and you get two picks.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Yeah, it's hard to pick against Georgia.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Um, because they're really not gonna be very tested.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Um, that, that Tennessee Georgia game in Knoxville, uh, we'll very likely decide the east, um, georgia does have Ole Miss, but, um, yeah, I mean they've, they've got, they're not tested, they're not tested.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Let's just say that.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Um, so next, next next up odds, it's gonna be Alabama.
- 7:46Speaker 2: But I am going to take the vols Nice.
- 7:50Speaker 2: I'm just gonna do it.
- 7:52Speaker 2: I'm gonna skip Bama and to skip LSU, give me the vols Nice.
- 7:58Speaker 1: So all right, so you're taking, so you got balls.
- 8:00Speaker 1: You're two pick.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Who's your three pick?
- 8:02Speaker 2: Three pick.
- 8:02Speaker 2: I'm gonna go ahead and skip Alabama again.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Give me LSU Tigers baby.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Look at you, oh man, you should both you, both my favorite teams, yeah, and here's here's why because I did pick Bama to take a step back this year.
- 8:17Speaker 2: So I'm gonna stand by that and I like LSU to potentially come out of the west.
- 8:22Speaker 2: If they're coming out of the west, you know, if we're playing that game and georgia's off the board, go ahead and give me LSU.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Um, I'm gonna take the vols to beat Bama.
- 8:31Speaker 2: I'm gonna take the vols as my, my team.
- 8:34Speaker 2: They've got so much upside and I love the Tigers, baby.
- 8:39Speaker 1: So dude, that's feeling you got me feeling.
- 8:42Speaker 1: You got feeling the warm and fuzzies.
- 8:44Speaker 1: You know what I'm gonna do you a solid and return the favor.
- 8:46Speaker 1: I am also gonna skip Bama just out of principle and give me Texas A&M.
- 8:54Speaker 2: I'm taking Texas A&M.
- 8:56Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Georgia and Texas A&M.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Nobody is picking Bama to get to Atlanta, let alone win it.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Georgia and Texas A&M is my game.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Lsu Vols God, I hope you're right.
- 9:05Speaker 1: I wanna see you guys in Atlanta.
- 9:07Speaker 1: That's good stuff.
- 9:08Speaker 1: I mean we're talking.
- 9:09Speaker 2: so just to be clear, these are crazy picks, but the margin for these teams, that these top four SEC teams, we're talking one game, One game.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gonna be brutal to top.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I don't have any reason to think any of these things couldn't happen.
- 9:25Speaker 1: I mean, will they?
- 9:26Speaker 2: we'll find out.
- 9:26Speaker 2: We'll look what happened last year.
- 9:27Speaker 2: You had Georgia, bama and Tennessee all in the top six in the country with and LSU, sorry right there as well.
- 9:39Speaker 2: You know, all having beaten one another, I mean it's razor thin.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Crazy things have happened, good stuff, all right.
- 9:49Speaker 1: So now we're gonna go to the big 10.
- 9:50Speaker 1: The big 10 is like the SEC.
- 9:52Speaker 1: They are doing divisions again this year Big 10 East, big team West.
- 9:55Speaker 1: You have the first pick, so I'm assuming you're gonna take I don't know what you're gonna go who's your one seed in the big 10?
- 10:43Speaker 2: It's gotta be Michigan, it's gotta be.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it's gotta be, it's gotta be.
- 10:47Speaker 2: I would be a fool for it not to be Michigan.
- 10:49Speaker 2: They've shown they can do it, they've got all the talent returning, they've got a favorable schedule and you know, the true test is Ohio State, and they've shown to have conquered that mountain.
- 11:01Speaker 2: So, yeah, I gotta give me a.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Michigan baby.
- 11:04Speaker 1: I love the Michigan pick.
- 11:06Speaker 1: I'm super bullish on them this year as well.
- 11:08Speaker 1: I really think this might shoot.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I mean really very quietly.
- 11:11Speaker 1: This might be Jim Harbaugh's swan song If he makes a jump to the NFL and his team is good JG McCarthy, daven LeVon, edwards sorry Edwards and Blake Hormer outstanding backs.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Their defense is going to be flying around, I mean, and they're playing the game.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Michigan Ohio State is being played in Ann Arbor.
- 11:32Speaker 1: So I think that's a great pick.
- 11:34Speaker 1: I don't hate that at all.
- 11:36Speaker 1: I will take the obvious second, my second pick.
- 11:38Speaker 1: I'm gonna take Ohio State because if it's not them, it's probably gonna be Ohio State, even though I bullpredicted Penn State earlier.
- 11:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna skip them on this.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna skip them on this one.
- 11:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna kind of pick myself.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Just want them right somewhere.
- 11:48Speaker 1: So give me a go ahead and give me Ohio State for that.
- 11:52Speaker 1: With my next pick, I'm gonna take Nebraska.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I've already.
- 11:55Speaker 2: I was talking about last time.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Wait what.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Look at the Big Ten West.
- 11:59Speaker 1: The Big Ten West I was up some upside Minnesota.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Pj Fleck, I guess you think Wisconsin's gonna win it all.
- 12:07Speaker 1: I think Nebraska might be kind of weird and kind of good.
- 12:10Speaker 1: And if the France offense tanks, it might.
- 12:14Speaker 1: If the Wisconsin air raid offense takes a while to gel, it might, If Breta Belima can't repeat his magic without Chase Brown, also might happen.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Pj Fleck has lost his seventh and ninth year quarterback running back combo.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Why not?
- 12:29Speaker 1: I mean, give me Big Red, give me everybody's sleeping on Nebraska, Get up and they're gonna sneak into the Big Ten West.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Give me Ohio State and Nebraska.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the.
- 12:41Speaker 2: What you're saying is not super crazy just because the West is the West, wild West, woo-hoo.
- 12:47Speaker 2: But if you're giving them to me, then I've gotta take Wisconsin, I know, and I've gotta take Fickle and I've gotta take year one.
- 12:56Speaker 2: To win the West would be insane.
- 12:58Speaker 2: But we've already talked about how favorable their schedule is and they're gonna have a good year and so we're.
- 13:05Speaker 2: You know it's a logical pick, but I do, you know, I think it's pretty wide open.
- 13:11Speaker 2: It could be Purdue, could be Minnesota, probably not Purdue.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Could be.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Minnesota, though, could be Iowa.
- 13:17Speaker 2: I mean, we're the little yeah, well, that's the other thing.
- 13:19Speaker 2: Yeah, we didn't talk about Iowa.
- 13:20Speaker 2: If Kade McNamara works out and their defense is stout, maybe, maybe Iowa.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Here's the kind of the thing that no one's talking about right now is like all these Big Ten West teams, they've gotta be chomping at the bit because let's, frank, let's face it, next year it's gonna look wildly different.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Their path to the conference championship well, I don't care what division they're in is about to get light years harder with USC, ucla, uw and Oregon joining the.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I'm not sure if they're gonna do pods, one big division.
- 13:51Speaker 1: The scheduling I don't know what it is, but all I do know is the Big Ten West path to Indy, which is where they play the Big Ten Championship.
- 13:59Speaker 1: As of now, it will never be easier.
- 14:01Speaker 1: This is it.
- 14:02Speaker 1: So get it now, because and that's about- to get a lot harder.
- 14:05Speaker 2: That's a very, very, very valid point, coming from a Big Ten West that has not had a super powerful player, and so one of those teams has kind of gotten a little bit of a break, given that that Michigan and Ohio State and Penn State Yep, all East, I know, sucks to be you, I guess.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Yep, we'll find out.
- 14:28Speaker 1: We'll find out, who knows, what the Big 20 looks like next season.
- 14:31Speaker 2: It's a lot can change A lot will change.
- 14:35Speaker 1: A lot will change.
- 14:35Speaker 1: All right, cool, let's keep it rolling.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Let's do the Big 12.
- 14:38Speaker 1: Big 12 is doing a whole one division this year, so there's no, there's no, I mean, wouldn't last a big 12 to division.
- 14:45Speaker 1: It goes a little while ago, so it's, it's in there.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Anyway, do I go per first this time?
- 14:50Speaker 2: No, yeah, I took Michigan, so you're on first Give me Texas.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Gotta go Texas.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Texas is back.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Texas is back.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Third episode in a row.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Third episode in a row.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Man, if we're wrong, I hope every one of our listeners makes it.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Makes it makes fun of us for being on wrong Texas Give it to me, I'm ready.
- 15:09Speaker 2: We are really buying, we're putting a lot of fun Down on Bama, up on.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Texas.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Up on Texas.
- 15:13Speaker 1: They're just the most talented teams.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Steve Sarkeesian seems like a better coach, Then Tom Herman and then obviously they're very deeper.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Quarterback Xavier Worthy is a lights out wide receiver.
- 15:24Speaker 1: I know B John Romance is not there.
- 15:26Speaker 1: There isn't anybody on their schedule in their conference that's for them to be afraid of.
- 15:30Speaker 1: There just isn't.
- 15:31Speaker 1: So I'm gonna take Texas with my one seed.
- 15:34Speaker 1: You get the next two picks, the big 12.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Yeah, so Oklahoma is not going to continue to put up the performance that they did last year.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Yeah, so I want Oklahoma.
- 15:47Speaker 2: That's, they're super talented.
- 15:49Speaker 2: You know Texas is still the top dog in that conference, but Oklahoma should rebound and have a really strong year Now.
- 16:00Speaker 1: That being said.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Skip down.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Give me Texas Tech.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Texas Tech is getting slept on.
- 16:09Speaker 2: I love, I like K-State as much as the next guy, but Texas Tech is getting super, super disrespected.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Should probably be a top 25.
- 16:19Speaker 2: If not, top 20 team.
- 16:20Speaker 2: They're gonna be really good this year.
- 16:24Speaker 2: They've got a tough slate ahead.
- 16:27Speaker 2: But yeah, give me Texas Tech.
- 16:29Speaker 2: I like them.
- 16:30Speaker 2: They're gonna have a good year.
- 16:31Speaker 2: They're a team to watch.
- 16:32Speaker 2: And yeah, tyler Shaw he's a name that not a lot of people know about, necessarily right now.
- 16:41Speaker 2: They're gonna hear about him all year long.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Texas Tech's got a really manageable schedule in terms of the big 12.
- 16:47Speaker 1: They do end the season at Texas, which would be interesting.
- 16:50Speaker 2: It's like that real ramification, they play Oregon.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Obviously it doesn't affect the conference schedule.
- 16:54Speaker 1: They play that week too.
- 16:55Speaker 1: What's fun.
- 16:56Speaker 1: What you need to know about Texas Tech because Texas Tech is hired by Joe McGuire, a former high school coach, in the ranks.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Their entire team I think I saw this on Twitter somewhere is like 97% Texas guys.
- 17:07Speaker 1: They are quadrupling down on being bigger than everything's bigger in Texas, deep in the heart of Texas, being Texas's team.
- 17:16Speaker 2: The other thing no one's talking about is the disrespect that they've gotten in that Texas Oklahoma, all these teams fleeing the conference.
- 17:27Speaker 2: No one's coming after Texas Tech.
- 17:29Speaker 2: They're like the unwanted child.
- 17:32Speaker 2: And here they are.
- 17:33Speaker 2: They've got a talented roster.
- 17:35Speaker 2: They've got good backing.
- 17:37Speaker 2: They've had a little bit of pedigree Back when Cliff Kingsbury was there.
- 17:43Speaker 2: They've got a little history, modern history albeit, but yeah, they're primed for a little success.
- 17:50Speaker 1: I don't hate that pick at all and honestly, if you look at in the AP 25, the teams that are ahead of them are Texas, tcu, kansas State and I'm missing somebody I don't think I am.
- 18:02Speaker 1: They are the fourth team, so they're getting some love, but they should be getting more.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Well, just like last year, again, the Big 12 is pretty wide open.
- 18:12Speaker 1: I'm going to skip over.
- 18:13Speaker 1: I'm going to skip the defending national champion, runner up TCU, just because they were replacing so much.
- 18:18Speaker 1: I think Sunny Dyches is a great hire.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I think Chandler Morris, the quarterback who was supposed to be the guy last year who Max Duggan, came in and returned, had the run of the century.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Quintan Johnson obviously exploded the wide outs.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Tcu had a Cinderella type year.
- 18:33Speaker 1: That ain't happening this year.
- 18:34Speaker 1: They're losing everybody.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Give me TCU.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Give me Will Howard, awesome quarterback.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Give me that offensive line.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Give me Chris Climan.
- 18:41Speaker 1: He's a phenomenal coach.
- 18:43Speaker 1: I really like K States.
- 18:44Speaker 1: I'm going to take Texas and K State as my two squads to counter your Oklahoma and Texas Tech.
- 18:50Speaker 1: I will say if it's Oklahoma, texas Tech in the Big 12 finals, it's going to make for a very entertaining football season.
- 18:57Speaker 2: So that's yeah, and I think that's going to be an entertaining conference to watch anyway.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree.
- 19:02Speaker 1: All right, Last power five I think you're going to go to it.
- 19:06Speaker 1: I think you were.
- 19:06Speaker 1: I took Texas, so you're the one seed.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Who do you, who do you got in the in the back 12?
- 19:10Speaker 1: Back 12 is also doing no divisions this year.
- 19:13Speaker 1: There's no north south.
- 19:14Speaker 1: There was in previous years Top two teams advanced.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Who you got with your one seed man.
- 19:18Speaker 2: I would love to give you a curveball here, but I got to take USC.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I've got to.
- 19:24Speaker 2: I don't need them.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Lincoln Riley is just such a good coach.
- 19:26Speaker 2: You've got the returning and future Heisman trophy winner and Caleb Williams.
- 19:30Speaker 2: You've got freaking studs at every position.
- 19:34Speaker 2: They're defense will get better this year.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Their defense was atrocious.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Last year their defense was like the worst of of any.
- 19:42Speaker 2: I mean, I think they were like 120th or so.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Like it just has to be okay.
- 19:47Speaker 2: It just has to be okay, they're going to score bunches of points, yeah, and I think that, um, I think the the culture is going to be a little bit better last year, because, you got to remember, there were so many transfers last year.
- 19:59Speaker 2: It was their first year in the system.
- 20:01Speaker 2: There's a lot of new blood, um, and they, quite frankly, just kind of barely missed the mark.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Uh, so your two things are going to be a little bit more dialed in.
- 20:09Speaker 2: I just think that, yeah, they're, they're going to be a force.
- 20:12Speaker 1: I can get behind that.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Um, so I get the second and third pick.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Um, I'm going to take you dub because I've been bullish on them.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Uh, the whole ever since the podcast started this year.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Remember the PPP fund, the Voodoo for Patreons, PPP fund.
- 20:25Speaker 2: I'm down with PPP.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Yeah, and next for Polo.
- 20:28Speaker 2: You know me.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Patreon fund.
- 20:29Speaker 1: So I'm obviously I'm, you, I'm, I am hooking my latch onto you dub, um and uh, utah, two time defending champs, bring it back.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I'm rising, whoa, whoa.
- 20:38Speaker 1: Can you do that back again?
- 20:40Speaker 1: There you give me, give me you dub and give me Utah, wow, utah.
- 20:44Speaker 1: So here's the thing about I'll be.
- 20:46Speaker 1: I'll be honest with you.
- 20:47Speaker 1: I would have been happy when I was picking this.
- 20:49Speaker 1: You, usc is number six.
- 20:51Speaker 1: You dub is 10, for Utah is 14.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Oregon is 15.
- 20:55Speaker 1: That's a 10 top 10 range.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Yeah, any of these four teams.
- 20:59Speaker 1: I think you and I both agree the fall off after those four is pretty big.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Yes, oregon state might be plucky, ucla maybe I don't know, we'll see.
- 21:08Speaker 2: You're going to hear me beat the Oregon state drum a lot this year.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Yep, you've heard it already on off, off, off, off, mike.
- 21:15Speaker 2: But yeah, I like Oregon state.
- 21:17Speaker 2: But you're right, yeah, there's a huge drop off.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Those are the four squad.
- 21:20Speaker 1: So I'm taking, I'm taking you dub.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I love, I love, I love Kaylande Boer, I love Michael Penix.
- 21:23Speaker 1: I think it's a score of Julian points.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Give me the U dub and Utah.
- 21:28Speaker 1: They're two time defending champs.
- 21:29Speaker 1: They're bringing back um camera rising.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Uh can.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Uh coach is still there.
- 21:33Speaker 1: So I'm going to stick with Utah.
- 21:35Speaker 1: So USC, utah and U dub are off the table.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Who is your uh other second pectwell, pectwell spot.
- 21:42Speaker 2: It's Oregon.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:44Speaker 2: It's Oregon.
- 21:44Speaker 2: It's Dan landing.
- 21:45Speaker 2: It's bone X, bone X, bow top baby Boat.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Nix has really set himself up for a run here.
- 21:52Speaker 2: I mean he should be.
- 21:52Speaker 2: I mean I'll be shocked if he does not end up in New York.
- 21:57Speaker 1: I think he's going I mean, I not only that and playing on Sundays after watching him like stars, a true freshman at Auburn and kind of like spin his wheels and wasn't really doing much I can't remember who the coach was all of a sudden playing.
- 22:08Speaker 1: It was.
- 22:09Speaker 1: It was even because he was there even before Harcyn was there, I think.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Anyway, like he just didn't seem like the five star guy that we all saw.
- 22:15Speaker 1: He really reinvented himself out in Oregon and has turned into a force again.
- 22:19Speaker 1: So I think he's a.
- 22:21Speaker 1: He's definitely, he's definitely a New York candidate and I also think he might be a top three round, second or third round, quarterback round, and good for him.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Yeah, your coin young man.
- 22:31Speaker 2: You know, dan landing, he's got, he's got a lot of talent.
- 22:34Speaker 2: They're doing more and more things on the recruiting trail.
- 22:36Speaker 2: They're, they're schedule again.
- 22:40Speaker 2: You know they've got some tough tests but yeah, I love bone X.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Dan landing, give me Oregon.
- 22:44Speaker 2: I would not be shocked if they won one in the pack 12.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Good stuff, all right, so those are your pack.
- 22:51Speaker 1: So we're going to pick your five power five, a division winners, so to speak, who we think will be there.
- 22:57Speaker 1: We're not going to pick the, we're not going to pick who's in the conference, we're just trying to pick who's going to go to the game.
- 23:02Speaker 1: So those are, those are your picks for the five conferences.
- 23:05Speaker 1: All right, let's move on to the playoff.
- 23:06Speaker 1: So we're going to pick the final four teams in the playoff.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Now we've made some rules.
- 23:11Speaker 1: The rules are for Mike and I is you can only pick a zero, one or two to or no more than two of the four shock top four picks.
- 23:20Speaker 1: So Georgia, michigan, ohio, say Alabama.
- 23:23Speaker 1: You can, mike and I can only pick up to two of those teams and the other two teams have to be outside the top four.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Just because it's got to be interesting show, nobody wants to hear people talk about George, michigan, ohio, say Alabama exclusively.
- 23:34Speaker 1: So you want to go first, or do you want me to go first?
- 23:38Speaker 2: Let's have you go first.
- 23:39Speaker 2: I've already got mine, but I want to hear what you got.
- 23:42Speaker 1: So I'm taking Georgia defending champions.
- 23:45Speaker 1: I just can't.
- 23:46Speaker 1: I can't have those schedules too soft Easy way.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Same Michigan, best team in the big 12, also a really soft schedule, frankly.
- 23:53Speaker 1: And I expect them to expect their season to be a one game season in Ann Arbor against Ohio State kind of in the year, assuming they don't get knocked off by Penn State, which I kind of call it for that too.
- 24:01Speaker 1: But anyway, if they get, and assuming they win, if they get to Indy, I have no reason to think anybody in the big 10 West will truly challenge them.
- 24:08Speaker 1: So my first two are the one and two George, michigan.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I just I can't get off those two teams.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Number three I got Florida State.
- 24:15Speaker 1: I think Florida State is going to lose to LSU in week one, but I think they are.
- 24:19Speaker 1: I think they are going to, I think they're going to 11.
- 24:22Speaker 1: I think they're going to win 11 to run the table.
- 24:24Speaker 1: I think their schedule is after LSU, my LSU Tigers.
- 24:27Speaker 1: I think it's pretty manageable.
- 24:29Speaker 1: I think Clemson is good, but I think they're going to beat them.
- 24:32Speaker 1: I think they are going to be the team that everyone talks about.
- 24:36Speaker 1: I think winning the ACC is going to be good enough this year.
- 24:39Speaker 1: So I've got Florida State going.
- 24:41Speaker 1: And last, you know who it's got to be it's got to be Texas.
- 24:46Speaker 1: It's got to be Texas.
- 24:48Speaker 2: I literally thought you're going to say you know it's got to be LSU.
- 24:52Speaker 1: I would love to put my own team.
- 24:54Speaker 1: I can't do it, I can't pick.
- 24:55Speaker 1: I can't pick James Nales for Heisman or LSU to make playoff.
- 24:57Speaker 1: I can't, my heart can't take it.
- 24:59Speaker 1: So I'm not picking my own team.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Georgia, michigan, florida State and Texas, texas no excuse.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Even if they lose to Alabama in week two, which they very well might, they should roll through the big type of 12, including the championship.
- 25:14Speaker 1: And you can't tell me that 11, one I think 11, one Texas is a shoe in.
- 25:19Speaker 1: I think a 10 and two Texas still might get the nod.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Yeah, and so much of this determines on how things play out in other conferences and how things play out in other games.
- 25:28Speaker 2: I do think you're pretty spot on with that Florida State Clemson kind of you know back and forth prediction, because Clemson showed a lot of trouble last year.
- 25:40Speaker 2: They didn't the record didn't necessarily end up showing it, but with the talent they had last year and what they've got coming back, it doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.
- 25:54Speaker 2: You know, it looks like they're losing their way a little bit while FSU is surging.
- 25:59Speaker 2: Moving on from that, I've got Georgia, I've got Michigan, texas, usc.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Wow, we're pretty good, pretty locked in, all right, good stuff.
- 26:11Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks for watching Chalk.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Yep, and that's Georgia, michigan, and I think largely that's due to schedule.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Yeah, more than anything, if these two teams, if those two teams had reason for doubt, their schedule would have more landmines.
- 26:26Speaker 2: And they just don't.
- 26:27Speaker 2: They just don't Yep, yeah, texas is the easy one because of how much talent they have.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Their schedule does have.
- 26:34Speaker 2: I mean, they've got probably a tougher schedule than both of those teams.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Yes, definitely, that Bama game that we've talked about, I think the spreads only like six and a half, yeah, in Tuscaloosa, and that's in Tuscaloosa.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, so that's a big one.
- 26:46Speaker 2: And then USC, you know, again, they were it's people dunk on USC for doing what they did last year.
- 26:54Speaker 1: That's under, that's year one, that's year one, it's good to remember that people for people forget that Lincoln Raleigh has not been there very long.
- 27:03Speaker 1: And that's so much roster turnover to his credit yeah.
- 27:07Speaker 1: They were expecting him to get to the national.
- 27:08Speaker 1: There was this weird I mean, because it's USC, not really weird, yeah, because it's USC.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Because they came in, they were expected to get to the national chain, to the playoff last year, and the fact that they didn't, everyone's like whoa, how'd that happen?
- 27:19Speaker 1: But I think it's a good reminder that USC is still very much USC and they are probably still trending up.
- 27:25Speaker 1: I mean, caleb Williams is still playing as of now, so yeah, they're going to they're a little bit beefier in the trenches.
- 27:31Speaker 2: They've got another year of experience.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Their defense is going to get better.
- 27:34Speaker 2: I'm a believer it's going to be very worse.
- 27:36Speaker 1: Yeah, it can't be worse.
- 27:37Speaker 1: All right, good stuff, let's, let's do.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Champions, I'll let you go first this time.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Who is your?
- 27:42Speaker 1: Who's going to win?
- 27:43Speaker 1: Who's going to hoist the end of the year?
- 27:47Speaker 2: Oh, man, I'm.
- 27:48Speaker 2: There's one team in red that I'm not going to say.
- 27:51Speaker 2: They're not going to repeat.
- 27:53Speaker 2: No freaking way, all right happen, okay.
- 27:56Speaker 2: With that being said, go ahead and give me Michigan, all right go blue.
- 28:02Speaker 1: All right, Michigan is the overall champion of the season.
- 28:05Speaker 1: I don't like that for all the reasons we talked about.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Did you see that thing about the beat the beat Georgia segment?
- 28:09Speaker 1: They add to their practice.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's stupid.
- 28:12Speaker 1: But yeah for those who don't know, at the end of Michigan practice for you, for years they had a fourth quarter program was like a beat Ohio State program.
- 28:20Speaker 1: Essentially they made them like run and sprint for an extra like 15 minutes.
- 28:24Speaker 1: She's got to get their cardio and strain just getting focused on in the season.
- 28:27Speaker 1: This year they added a beat Georgia segment to their practice, so they are trying to shift their.
- 28:32Speaker 1: They're trying to raise expectations in an arbor, which they should.
- 28:36Speaker 1: They've beaten Ohio State twice and now they want to win.
- 28:38Speaker 1: They've been to play off twice when the big 10 twice in a row.
- 28:40Speaker 1: They're trying to raise the bar there and the bar is Georgia.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Georgia is the bar until they're not.
- 28:45Speaker 1: With that said, it's my turn to pick the national championship and I can't believe I'm doing this.
- 28:51Speaker 1: I hate myself for doing it.
- 28:52Speaker 1: I have to take that team in red.
- 28:53Speaker 1: I'm going to take Georgia.
- 28:55Speaker 1: No, I'm going to say I know, I know, I think their season is too short and I what is they there's?
- 29:02Speaker 1: They.
- 29:03Speaker 1: I mean I would love to see Tennessee get knocked them off.
- 29:06Speaker 1: I just I don't.
- 29:06Speaker 1: I don't know what's going to happen.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Even if Tennessee knocks them off, they're that team who loses one game, doesn't go to the SEC championship and still gets in the playoff.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Yeah, they've got so many kids with who have I haven't even touched the football yet, I don't even knew the ball who have so many stars next to their name.
- 29:23Speaker 1: They are so deep at so many spots this is where Saban was in, like 2014.
- 29:29Speaker 1: It was a they're it until they're not.
- 29:33Speaker 1: And this is I.
- 29:34Speaker 1: I don't want to pick Georgia, but I have to because I just I'm at the point now with them.
- 29:39Speaker 1: They're so efficient, they're so talented, so powerful, just such monsters that I'm picking them to win it all until they prove me wrong.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Hopefully lots of teams do.
- 29:50Speaker 1: But that's that's my, that's my pick.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I hate that man For what it's worth.
- 29:54Speaker 1: I do have Georgia over Michigan and the championship, so I got Michigan advancing to the championship game, losing Georgia.
- 29:59Speaker 1: All right, very cool.
- 30:00Speaker 1: So we have two more picks we're going to.
- 30:03Speaker 1: We're going to do what's called unranked 10 and 10 unranked.
- 30:05Speaker 1: For those of you don't know.
- 30:07Speaker 1: In the last 30 years, 28 times there has been a team in the AP top 10 that has finished the season on ranked meaning.
- 30:16Speaker 1: It's happened almost every year.
- 30:18Speaker 1: It's almost a given that one of these teams is going to finish as a top 10.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Conversely, on the other side, 21 of the last 22 seasons, a team that is unranked at the end of season not the top 25 has finished the season in the top 10.
- 30:33Speaker 1: So Mike and I are going to take our chances and try and make those picks.
- 30:38Speaker 1: So we do want to do.
- 30:40Speaker 1: First, you want to go high to low or low to high?
- 30:44Speaker 2: Let's go teams that will tank teams that will tank.
- 30:47Speaker 1: So we're going to start with teams that are again lofty expectations and their seasons are going to bottom out.
- 30:53Speaker 1: I'll go first.
- 30:54Speaker 1: I'm going to taking.
- 30:55Speaker 1: We're just flying right.
- 30:56Speaker 1: I'm taking USC.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Here is the case.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Here is the case for USC.
- 31:01Speaker 1: Give it to me.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Finishing on ranked.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Caleb Williams is the consensus number one pick NFL Draft next year.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Whoever is, whoever is terrible, is taking him.
- 31:11Speaker 1: No doubt about it.
- 31:11Speaker 1: He has huge payday ahead of himself.
- 31:14Speaker 1: There is a world where he gets injured, is slightly injured.
- 31:17Speaker 1: He doesn't want to play.
- 31:18Speaker 1: There is also a world where the defense, which is supposed to be better, is not.
- 31:22Speaker 1: It is terrible.
- 31:23Speaker 1: There's also a world where they lose every big game they have, and they have four of them Notre Dame, utah, uw Oregon.
- 31:31Speaker 1: I'm not even counting UCLA end of the end of the season or the Arizona game that maybe could be plucky, my point.
- 31:39Speaker 1: There is a world where USC is eight and four.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Caleb Williams has left the team.
- 31:45Speaker 1: He's already in Arizona and Scottsdale with his agent training for the NFL draft.
- 31:51Speaker 1: We've all heard this story before.
- 31:52Speaker 1: And they're unranked and they look bad in their last three games UW Oregon, ucla they lose those three games ugly to a Caleb Williamless team.
- 32:04Speaker 1: They are unranked, not the patch 12 championship finished the season unranked.
- 32:09Speaker 1: They lose a bowl game that they're unmotivated for.
- 32:12Speaker 1: That is my tend to unranked USC.
- 32:14Speaker 1: So.
- 32:17Speaker 2: I don't hate that, because there's only going to be a couple of teams for us to choose from in this conversation, just schedule based alone.
- 32:26Speaker 2: And Caleb Williams has shown himself to be not unreliable but somewhat not self-centered.
- 32:39Speaker 1: What's the word I'm looking for?
- 32:40Speaker 1: You're talking about him jumping from Oklahoma.
- 32:41Speaker 1: He's opportunistic, I mean he saw an opportunity.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Yeah, but there's there's things he's done, he is, I don't want to say questionable character, just things, just things that maybe wouldn't be super inspiring from a leadership standpoint.
- 32:58Speaker 1: What I think you're saying is you could see a world where he leaves his team seven weeks if he's I could see a world where he's a little me.
- 33:04Speaker 2: first for sure, and going back to our previous conversation, you know your year two in a Lincoln Riley system with a lot of new players again, and so you know what's that culture look like.
- 33:18Speaker 2: That's one thing you know.
- 33:19Speaker 2: We don't know.
- 33:20Speaker 2: We don't know how far their culture has come year one to year two.
- 33:23Speaker 2: What does that look like?
- 33:24Speaker 2: If the season starts to spiral a little bit, you know, if the back is against the wall, you've got some aches, some pains.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Everyone's telling you dude, just sit it out, you're going to be drafted Like why are you worrying about, you know, this Washington game or whatever.
- 33:37Speaker 2: So yeah, totally, I could totally see that.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Give me yours.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Who's your tend to unright?
- 33:45Speaker 1: Who's bottoming out?
- 33:47Speaker 2: So I've got to pick LSU.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Make the case.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Tell me why.
- 33:55Speaker 2: So we mentioned this, we talked about a little bit off camera.
- 33:58Speaker 2: When you're looking at this, at this game and this team, from this standpoint you're looking at, how do you make the case for one of these teams not being there?
- 34:10Speaker 2: Well, you've got to lose multiple games, right?
- 34:13Speaker 1: I would say four, at least four right.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Yeah, what puts you out?
- 34:17Speaker 2: Lsu has one of the tougher schedules on this list, true, true, especially when you look at non-conference.
- 34:25Speaker 2: When you got to play LSU, you got to play Bama.
- 34:28Speaker 2: What does Texas A&M look like?
- 34:30Speaker 2: Mississippi State, ole Miss both teams that could present huge problems.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Lsu's had problems with Texas A&M in the past.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Yep, no-transcript.
- 34:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not an easy decision because, quite frankly, I don't think any of these.
- 34:48Speaker 2: I think this is one of the outlier seasons in this stat.
- 34:51Speaker 2: I truly think this is you know what?
- 34:53Speaker 2: 20 20 32.
- 34:57Speaker 2: That doesn't end up in this stat.
- 34:59Speaker 2: But if I had to pick one just based on schedule alone, I'm gonna take LSU.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Look you know to convince me that LSU could lose to a lot of teams.
- 35:07Speaker 1: I I've been LSU fan.
- 35:09Speaker 1: I've watched us lose to Mississippi State, arkansas, ole Miss, missouri during the COVID year Auburn, alabama, florida, obviously A&M.
- 35:16Speaker 1: So we start the season with Florida State.
- 35:18Speaker 1: There's certainly there's certainly a world where LSU season last year was a little bit of fool's gold.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Jay Daniels obviously seed expectations.
- 35:28Speaker 1: Things fell into.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Obviously it started out rough but things really fell into this place for this team.
- 35:33Speaker 1: Um, there's a lot of, there's a lot of questions in the secondary we did.
- 35:37Speaker 2: We lost our entire secondary got in like six transfers we had to replace it again.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Matt House did that last year and did a phenomenal job.
- 35:44Speaker 1: It was still was not easy.
- 35:45Speaker 1: He had to do.
- 35:45Speaker 1: That's it again.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Um, running back room is still.
- 35:48Speaker 1: We have a lot of guys.
- 35:49Speaker 1: We don't have necessarily a guy, malik neighbors, stud wide out outside of him.
- 35:54Speaker 1: There's some question marks.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Can Harold Perkins make the next phase?
- 35:58Speaker 1: What does all this depth look like?
- 36:00Speaker 1: You're my point, my point.
- 36:01Speaker 1: You don't have to convince me that there is no world where this LSU teams goes eight and four.
- 36:07Speaker 1: I've watched too many LSU football games to tell.
- 36:10Speaker 1: To tell you with absolute certainty, there's not a way they could do it.
- 36:13Speaker 1: So, honestly, I it hurts me, but I don't have to pick.
- 36:16Speaker 1: If this is, this is tough, this is a, this is a, this is okay.
- 36:19Speaker 1: This is hitting a half court shot.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Yeah, what we are trying to do now is hit a half court shot.
- 36:23Speaker 1: So we got USC and LSU.
- 36:25Speaker 1: As for the top ten, two unranked candidates.
- 36:29Speaker 2: As for 2023, yeah, let's go like it.
- 36:31Speaker 2: Don't want it to happen.
- 36:32Speaker 1: Don't like it.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Don't like it, but I hear you.
- 36:34Speaker 1: All right.
- 36:35Speaker 1: So next step unranked to top 20.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Again, 21 last 22 seasons there's been some teams are unranked gotten there.
- 36:40Speaker 1: I'm gonna go first.
- 36:41Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with Kentucky.
- 36:43Speaker 1: I think Kentucky is very so.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Liam Cohen, the officer coordinator.
- 36:46Speaker 1: He was there when will levis had his phenomenal season two years ago.
- 36:50Speaker 1: He'd left.
- 36:51Speaker 1: He's back, which I don't think is, I think, a big reason why will levis regressed so much last season.
- 36:56Speaker 1: Frankly, he is back, so that's really nice having back.
- 36:58Speaker 1: Mike stoopes is quietly one of the best coaches in the sec that most people don't get a lot of credit to.
- 37:03Speaker 1: The sec east is top heavy with George in Tennessee, but there's a lot of winning games after that.
- 37:09Speaker 1: That they're they're scheduled on the other side is from the west, is not that tough and People aren't talking about is Devin leary.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Devin leary from the NC State transfer quarterback.
- 37:19Speaker 1: He's a damn good quarterback.
- 37:20Speaker 1: Honestly I'm gonna say it really quietly because I think it might be true.
- 37:23Speaker 1: I think Devin leary might be the best quarterback in the sec.
- 37:25Speaker 1: I could be wrong, but there is a world where Devin leary is better than Joe mill.
- 37:30Speaker 1: He's better than jade Daniels.
- 37:32Speaker 1: He's better than whoever Wins the Georgia Alabama competitions.
- 37:36Speaker 1: I'm not worried about Graham Erzett Florida.
- 37:38Speaker 2: So the full stop on that is Susie throwing the ball to.
- 37:41Speaker 2: But yes, Devin leary is super talented.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Yeah, he's got key out there.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Who's who's who's said receiver who absolutely torched it, torched Florida, but he rests the year.
- 37:50Speaker 1: He was relatively quiet.
- 37:51Speaker 1: So no, there's not.
- 37:51Speaker 1: There's not they.
- 37:53Speaker 1: They have some questions on who's gonna run back.
- 37:55Speaker 1: We're gonna find out a lot about Kentucky right away, but it looks like up what it looks like up front.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Their offensive line has turned over a lot and if they can block, I expect Mike stoop to play pretty solid defense because he coaches teams to play pretty solid defense, given their talent level.
- 38:08Speaker 1: The question for me is what can they do with what can they do Off the line?
- 38:16Speaker 1: What can they do for blocking?
- 38:17Speaker 1: So I'm gonna take Kentucky as the unranked to 10.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's a Pretty good pick.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Especially, one of the things you didn't talk about which they have the advantage of for an SEC team is their schedule.
- 38:29Speaker 2: Every year they're cross rivals Mississippi State, who happened to thinks really good this year, but traditionally that that's an easier, easier game and they're out of conference.
- 38:39Speaker 2: Louisville, yep, you know that's typically a win.
- 38:43Speaker 2: So yeah, that's, they get Tennessee at home this year.
- 38:48Speaker 2: That's that's gonna be a tough one, how many?
- 38:50Speaker 1: how many wins does it take to them to get the top 10?
- 38:52Speaker 1: Nine wins, we think the Kentucky had nine win.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Ten win Does it be?
- 38:55Speaker 1: Does be ten and two?
- 38:56Speaker 1: What's?
- 38:57Speaker 2: tough about that is is so so dependent on what everyone else does.
- 39:00Speaker 2: You know, like if Oregon and USC and you know you've got two, two top tier teams from every conference, it's really tough, because how does Kentucky look when you've got Bama, georgia and Then maybe one you know, an LSU or a Tennessee in there?
- 39:20Speaker 2: Yeah, there's not room for for a Kentucky, so they're gonna start this they're gonna start the season pretty hot.
- 39:25Speaker 1: They've got Ball State, east Kentucky, akron and at Vandy, so they're gonna start and then in verse, florida, I think, is I think Florida might be terrible.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Yeah, they're over unders like five and a half.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I think for my six big chance.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Terrible that I think they're gonna start five and oh then they've got then and then they've got Georgia, probably a loss.
- 39:40Speaker 1: First, missouri, probably a win six and one.
- 39:43Speaker 1: First, tennessee at home.
- 39:45Speaker 1: I call that a loss.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Six and two.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Atmosphere State seven, two, bama seven and three, and then South Carolina, louisville.
- 39:51Speaker 1: I just I think there's an, I think there's a version of this Tennessee team Sorry, kentucky team which is nine and three.
- 39:56Speaker 1: They get to a decent bowl game.
- 39:58Speaker 1: They win that bowl game.
- 39:59Speaker 1: Ten and three and tennis and Kentucky sneaks in the top ten.
- 40:03Speaker 1: Give me, give me a big blue nation, or they call themselves as my BBN, that's right.
- 40:09Speaker 1: Give me a.
- 40:10Speaker 1: Give me them as my unranked ten for 2023.
- 40:14Speaker 2: No, I like it.
- 40:14Speaker 2: I think that it's a safe pick because of their schedule exactly, and they've got talent and they've been a strong program like yeah, yeah, they've been the strongest They've ever been these last like five years.
- 40:25Speaker 2: So, yeah, yeah, really good pick.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Give me the Texas Tech Red Wings.
- 40:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I knew you're gonna say Texas Tech.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Haha, I love it.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Why'd you know?
- 40:35Speaker 1: I was gonna say that?
- 40:36Speaker 1: Because you already bullish on them last one.
- 40:37Speaker 1: You picked them for your, you picked them for the big 12 championship game.
- 40:40Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's just, it's just a good pick.
- 40:42Speaker 1: They're also to be fair, they're.
- 40:43Speaker 1: They are sitting at 26 right now.
- 40:45Speaker 1: They are just Just outside the top 25, but they are out, so it counts.
- 40:50Speaker 1: So you picked, you pick the, you pick the team with the inside track.
- 40:53Speaker 1: And again, what does it take text, what does it take for Texas Tech to get to a top ten?
- 40:58Speaker 2: Yeah, that is the question.
- 40:59Speaker 1: They've got a nine and three again than ten and three with a bull win.
- 41:03Speaker 1: We think so.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Their big games are Oregon, k-state, tcu, texas.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Those are their four teams of pre of a preseason ranked.
- 41:11Speaker 1: They got a split those, yeah, they could go, they could be, they split those they're.
- 41:17Speaker 1: They're looking at ten and two.
- 41:18Speaker 1: If they get to the big 12 championship game, some chaos ensues, like I think they're a team with a lot of buy-in.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Joy McGuire's got those guys firing.
- 41:26Speaker 1: Um, no, I think.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Texas.
- 41:29Speaker 1: I think I think their path is pretty manageable for the big 12.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I think for this game that we're playing, you pick a team that's like flying under the radar a little bit, that has a chance to finish like second or third in the conference.
- 41:41Speaker 2: You know you want somebody who's getting a little disrespected and the schedule plays out nicely and has some good returning pieces.
- 41:48Speaker 2: You know, I touched on Tyler Shaw.
- 41:50Speaker 2: He's like a third-year starter for them.
- 41:52Speaker 2: He's a really talented quarterback.
- 41:54Speaker 2: You're gonna hear about them all year and they just they they're gonna be sneaky.
- 42:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and the things I think about Texas.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Texas, if you take, if you take the name off the helmet and the people who are playing tech tech we're playing for Oklahoma they would be ranked there and part of the reason they're not ranked because they're Texas tech, which means you're I think.
- 42:11Speaker 1: I really do think you're getting good value on that play.
- 42:13Speaker 1: So I like Texas tech.
- 42:15Speaker 1: I'm gonna consider either, I'm gonna consider us collective geniuses if either of those it if Texas Tech or Kentucky or top 10, the UNR geniuses as a team.
- 42:24Speaker 1: That's my, that's my take.
- 42:26Speaker 2: I'm gonna go ahead and call us geniuses anyway, so yeah, I Think that's all we got folks.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Thanks again for listening.
- 42:34Speaker 1: This is Mike Blitz.
