- 2:02Speaker 3: including really soon this weekend. If you're a Reds fan,
- 2:07Speaker 3: you are going to want to know this. The city

- 2:18Speaker 3: excited about that. We'll talk to Joe about that a

- 2:51Speaker 3: to the show. To start us off this morning, Charleston
- 2:53Speaker 3: City Councilman Chad Robinson. Of course, he represents the area
- 2:56Speaker 3: around Kanas City councilman, Good morning, Welcome to the show.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Good morning, Dave. What a new impressive digs you have here?
- 3:03Speaker 3: How bad is it? That's pretty nice. Welcome to the neighborhood, man,
- 3:05Speaker 3: Welcome to the neighborhood. It's moving up in the world.
- 3:07Speaker 3: It's going to be even better when we learn how
- 3:09Speaker 3: to operate it. That's right, that's now we're doing. We're
- 3:11Speaker 3: doing pretty well with it. Uh. You know we got
- 3:14Speaker 3: when we first came in here last week. You know,
- 3:16Speaker 3: the old saying you don't know what you don't know,
- 3:18Speaker 3: and so we came in it was like, hey, what
- 3:19Speaker 3: does this button do? What does this do? And so luckily,
- 3:23Speaker 3: you know, we got much smarter people on the other
- 3:25Speaker 3: side of the glass, people like Ryan and Murphy and
- 3:27Speaker 3: Coop and and Anthony Harmon. Those we left those people,
- 3:30Speaker 3: but they just let me talk. Very impressive, it's very instive.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Welcome to the show.
- 3:34Speaker 5: How you been man, Good good busy times now a
- 3:36Speaker 5: session uh in town and you know that keeps me
- 3:40Speaker 5: busy for now with with all the city.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Uh happenings as well. Yeah, and uh so uh you
- 3:47Speaker 3: and I've had you on several times the last year
- 3:49Speaker 3: and it's always seems to be the same theme and
- 3:51Speaker 3: that's and that's okay because you're a great representative for
- 3:54Speaker 3: that area of Kadas City. You come on, you tell
- 3:56Speaker 3: us and update this of what's going on. Light at
- 3:58Speaker 3: the end of the tunnel, I believe.
- 4:00Speaker 6: So.
- 4:02Speaker 5: I think this project for mccorkor Avenue started April eleventh,
- 4:05Speaker 5: twenty twenty two, and the estimated finished was July twenty
- 4:10Speaker 5: sixth of twenty twenty four. Well, they missed that date,
- 4:13Speaker 5: but we're almost there. I think it looks like they're
- 4:17Speaker 5: they're finishing up some of the little punch items and
- 4:21Speaker 5: I've been told that this spring early summer that they
- 4:24Speaker 5: should be finished up.
- 4:26Speaker 3: And what for those who may not have heard your
- 4:28Speaker 3: interviews in the past, and again you've been on the
- 4:29Speaker 3: show several times, councilmen, what exactly were they doing there?
- 4:35Speaker 5: Department of Highways did two phase project in m mccorkor
- 4:39Speaker 5: Avenue from the hospital basically from the hospital to the
- 4:43Speaker 5: mall in Kanas City.
- 4:45Speaker 3: To eight block phases.
- 4:47Speaker 5: The first was a more more with the culverts and
- 4:51Speaker 5: things like that. The second phase is more of paving.
- 4:55Speaker 5: But in the first phase, the second phase is finished.
- 4:58Speaker 5: The first phase we're going to get new sidewalks, lights,
- 5:02Speaker 5: We have new paving, new meetings.
- 5:05Speaker 6: All that.
- 5:06Speaker 5: So I think what's left are the new lights. That
- 5:11Speaker 5: there was a delay in receiving those because of the
- 5:14Speaker 5: dimensions and the size and things like that. They I've
- 5:17Speaker 5: been told they're in. They will be put in here
- 5:20Speaker 5: the next wind the weather permits. Some sidewalks are finished,
- 5:23Speaker 5: need to be finished, and then the new stoplights, things
- 5:27Speaker 5: of that sort. I believe those are the big, big
- 5:29Speaker 5: punch IIMs. They have to finish and we should see
- 5:32Speaker 5: the end, hopefully, hopefully.
- 5:35Speaker 3: I joked on here last week that I think model
- 5:37Speaker 3: ts were on the road at the time the deconstruction
- 5:40Speaker 3: project started.
- 5:41Speaker 5: For those of us living in Kanas City and have
- 5:43Speaker 5: to come off the bridge into that construction for so
- 5:47Speaker 5: many years, it's good to see that it is coming
- 5:50Speaker 5: to an end.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Yeah. My text to the show said, the mccorporl projects
- 5:55Speaker 3: started before COVID nineteen. It's been five years of half
- 5:58Speaker 3: close yeah, close, close, yeah, because you said it wasn't
- 6:00Speaker 3: exactly that two and this was a you know, primer well,
- 6:05Speaker 3: I mean this was a Department of Highways, Cold Gov
- 6:08Speaker 3: is a state road. Yeah, so this is not a
- 6:10Speaker 3: city project that this is the Department Highway said. Look,
- 6:13Speaker 3: in all fairness, and I don't pretend to know what
- 6:15Speaker 3: goes into any sort of a Department of Highways project,
- 6:18Speaker 3: but in all fairness, it's not easy to do a
- 6:21Speaker 3: project like that, especially with the high volume of traffic
- 6:25Speaker 3: that you have in that air.
- 6:26Speaker 5: There's a lot of traffic as you said, that comes
- 6:29Speaker 5: off that bridge and goes through Kanas City every day.
- 6:32Speaker 5: It's a four lane highway with our businesses. Uh, you
- 6:36Speaker 5: know for those three years, our businesses in Kanall City
- 6:39Speaker 5: have suffered. Oh yeah, and uh we've lost businesses. We've
- 6:42Speaker 5: actually opened a couple of new ones recently. But with
- 6:45Speaker 5: the new Charleston Urban Works program. I think Rick was
- 6:48Speaker 5: on the show last week. We mentioned it a little quickly,
- 6:51Speaker 5: but we'll have more information coming. But I believe we're
- 6:55Speaker 5: going to get ready to announce a director of Outreach
- 6:59Speaker 5: for agement for Canocity only. The Mayor's office has been
- 7:04Speaker 5: very helpful, helpful and getting the money for this employee,
- 7:09Speaker 5: and this employee will be directly involved in helping our businesses,
- 7:13Speaker 5: finding out information to where we can succeed and bring
- 7:17Speaker 5: new businesses and help the current ones there.
- 7:19Speaker 3: I was gonna ask what do you what do you
- 7:21Speaker 3: hope to come out of this partnership with Charleston Urban Works.
- 7:25Speaker 3: We have to have a.
- 7:28Speaker 5: Rebrand of Canal City. You know, our our branding for
- 7:33Speaker 5: KNNOSI has always been it takes a village and we
- 7:36Speaker 5: need our businesses need help, whether it's bringing new ones
- 7:40Speaker 5: there or the current ones. We they need help because
- 7:43Speaker 5: the construction has closed some of those and they suffered
- 7:46Speaker 5: financially for three years. And uh the urban Works program
- 7:51Speaker 5: I worked on for a couple of years.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Uh.
- 7:54Speaker 5: I actually told Rick the other day I begged and
- 7:57Speaker 5: pleaded for two or three years for help. And now
- 7:59Speaker 5: the mayors office has gotten involved. Mary Goodwin has been
- 8:03Speaker 5: very helpful in helping trying to get Kanos City back
- 8:06Speaker 5: up on our feet again.
- 8:07Speaker 3: We're talking with Shad Robinson City councilmen who represents the
- 8:11Speaker 3: area there in Kanahase City. The Dave Island Showing five
- 8:13Speaker 3: eighty Live is presented apart by your hometown baseball team,
- 8:16Speaker 3: the Charleston Dirty Birds. Great Season. Dirty Birds Baseball on
- 8:19Speaker 3: tap over at Gomart Ballpark. Tuesdays will be two dollars
- 8:22Speaker 3: Tuesdays with two dollar tickets, popcorn, hot dogs sodas and more. Wednesdays,
- 8:26Speaker 3: you can bring your dogs to the park for woof Wednesday, Thursdays,
- 8:29Speaker 3: Thursday Thursdays with one dollar beers and water, Friday freebee
- 8:32Speaker 3: Fridays with all sorts of giveaways, fireworks after the game
- 8:35Speaker 3: on Saturdays and Sundays, or family fun Days. Kids twelve
- 8:37Speaker 3: and under get in for free. For more, visit dirty
- 8:40Speaker 3: Birds baseball dot com. You talked about those businesses there
- 8:43Speaker 3: in Kanasas City and you know it's just been very,
- 8:45Speaker 3: very difficult to access them. And you have several businesses
- 8:49Speaker 3: in kanas City. I think sometimes once when you were
- 8:51Speaker 3: on the show, you gave us the number of businesses there.
- 8:53Speaker 3: There's a whole lot of businesses in kanas City and
- 8:56Speaker 3: they've suffered through this project as well. Counsel.
- 8:59Speaker 5: Yeah, there's a there's a lot more businesses than people think.
- 9:02Speaker 5: There's several hundred businesses that from that stretches from the
- 9:06Speaker 5: hospital all the way down pass Lows to the the
- 9:09Speaker 5: old k More building. People just don't understand until they
- 9:12Speaker 5: start looking when they drive down McCorkle. We're all in
- 9:16Speaker 5: a hurry, but there's a lot of businesses there that
- 9:18Speaker 5: you don't see. The barbershops, the uh, the mom and pops,
- 9:22Speaker 5: the the wood the Woods store on fiftieth Street, tutors.
- 9:26Speaker 5: I mean, you know, we have the the Wendy's and
- 9:28Speaker 5: Subways and those, but our small mama pops we have
- 9:32Speaker 5: to help them succeed and get back up and uh
- 9:35Speaker 5: and I think charleson Nourban works. The program that's that
- 9:38Speaker 5: Rick has put in place and that we will have
- 9:41Speaker 5: announcements for it's going to be very very helpful for
- 9:44Speaker 5: our business. We're also going to create a new Canostity
- 9:47Speaker 5: Business Association, So if anybody is interested in joining that
- 9:51Speaker 5: association in the near future, just reach out to me
- 9:54Speaker 5: and we can make that happen.
- 9:57Speaker 3: So with the business Association, what do you expect to
- 10:00Speaker 3: come from from that once you get it up and
- 10:01Speaker 3: run it again.
- 10:02Speaker 5: We hope to be just an arm to help a
- 10:06Speaker 5: voice for Kanos City businesses. We hope to just offer advice,
- 10:10Speaker 5: recommendations of things that the businesses need and we're there
- 10:14Speaker 5: to help whatever we can do.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Uh, that's what we're there.
- 10:18Speaker 5: That's what it's gonna be there to do to help
- 10:20Speaker 5: the businesses succeed in the future in Kanos City.
- 10:23Speaker 3: What's the one thing that you want people who uh
- 10:26Speaker 3: maybe don't have reason to go to Kanas City on
- 10:30Speaker 3: a regular basis. Maybe they work in a different part
- 10:31Speaker 3: of town, and maybe they're listening to us in another area.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Completely listen to us in Putnam County, for example. What
- 10:36Speaker 3: do you want people to know about Kanos City? Come back?
- 10:40Speaker 3: We lost simple? It's simple.
- 10:42Speaker 5: You know we during the fate, the two phases of
- 10:45Speaker 5: the construction, a lot of people wouldn't even come to
- 10:48Speaker 5: lunch in Kanas City. Uh, don't forget travillions other restaurants
- 10:53Speaker 5: in Kanosit for lunch. Come back to lunch. Use our
- 10:56Speaker 5: local businesses. Uh element credit, uh credit. You use those
- 11:00Speaker 5: businesses and help them get back up on their feet
- 11:03Speaker 5: after these as a construction has.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Ended now tonight and Jeff just talked about it on
- 11:07Speaker 3: the news leading into the show. There's there's gonna be
- 11:10Speaker 3: a meeting held in Kanas City. This is one of
- 11:12Speaker 3: the series that the city does talk about that here
- 11:14Speaker 3: to serve.
- 11:15Speaker 5: It's at the Kanas City Rec Center five thirty to
- 11:17Speaker 5: six thirty. It's a good event that the Mayor's office
- 11:20Speaker 5: puts on. Most of the department heads will be there.
- 11:23Speaker 5: The several of the council members will be there. We're
- 11:27Speaker 5: there trust some police departments always there. So if you
- 11:29Speaker 5: have concerns, issues advice for Kanos City, come show up
- 11:35Speaker 5: for the hour.
- 11:36Speaker 3: It's a.
- 11:38Speaker 5: Very informal setting that you can talk to different departments.
- 11:43Speaker 5: If we have dilapidated houses around a home that we
- 11:46Speaker 5: don't have on a list, or we have vagrants or
- 11:50Speaker 5: or those who are walking into alleys, come share those
- 11:53Speaker 5: concerns and let's try to figure out the problems.
- 11:55Speaker 3: And again these series of meetings, and these were held
- 11:58Speaker 3: last year as well. This is I guess, uh the
- 12:00Speaker 3: is this the first one on the schedule for Connos believe? Okay,
- 12:03Speaker 3: so this is in Kanas City tonight. This is an
- 12:05Speaker 3: opportunity because sometimes people and this is not unique to
- 12:09Speaker 3: Charleston councilmen, sometimes people don't like to necessarily go to
- 12:13Speaker 3: a city council meeting, or maybe they don't like to
- 12:15Speaker 3: go to a Board of Education meeting or whatever. This
- 12:17Speaker 3: is very informal. You guys, basically are you're not You're
- 12:20Speaker 3: not standing up there giving a lot of speeches to people.
- 12:22Speaker 3: You just come up and talk to you about about
- 12:24Speaker 3: issues that they have, about concerns about positive things that
- 12:27Speaker 3: are going on. This is good, This is this is
- 12:29Speaker 3: democracy at its finest.
- 12:30Speaker 5: We you know, we have our issues in Canosia as
- 12:32Speaker 5: well as as other parts of the city. But hey,
- 12:35Speaker 5: let's let's quit stand, quit hiding behind the keyboard, come
- 12:39Speaker 5: out and and let's discuss how we can resolve issues
- 12:43Speaker 5: for kanos City. We have those issues, but we can
- 12:46Speaker 5: resolve those if we work together.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Uh.
- 12:49Speaker 5: And that's what these here to serve programs are for
- 12:53Speaker 5: the department heads to show up and help us get
- 12:55Speaker 5: through some of these issues. All right, again, the meeting
- 12:58Speaker 5: is tonight by thirty six thirty Canossea Rec Center.
- 13:01Speaker 3: All right, hey, real.
- 13:02Speaker 5: Quick, I want to shout out to the Chamberlain Robotics team.
- 13:05Speaker 5: It's fifth graders. They won the state championship on the robotics.
- 13:10Speaker 5: They're going to Dallas, Texas in May to represent Charleston
- 13:15Speaker 5: Kanack County in West Virginia's as the state champion robotics team.
- 13:20Speaker 3: That's pretty good stuff.
- 13:21Speaker 5: That's good stuff, and we're going to hopefully recognize that
- 13:23Speaker 5: that team, the teachers, Eva Phillips, and the coach, so
- 13:27Speaker 5: we'll hopefully do a resolution to help them or recognize
- 13:30Speaker 5: them at City Council.
- 13:31Speaker 3: They're coming up. All right, Counts when Robinson's always a
- 13:33Speaker 3: pleasure to have you on the show Man. Thanks, thanks,
- 13:35Speaker 3: appreciate it. All right, we're going to take a break.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Big happenings in the city of Nitro. There's always something
- 13:41Speaker 3: big going on there. But they're bringing a Red's legend
- 13:43Speaker 3: to town and we'll talk about that when we come back.

- 16:40Speaker 3: Selango Law Studios after noon from noon to three, then
- 16:46Speaker 3: the text line changes. So if you're texting for the
- 16:48Speaker 3: show in the afternoon, because what happens is every morning
- 16:51Speaker 3: when I come in after Chris wraps up the morning
- 16:53Speaker 3: news and I log into the computer, here I see
- 16:55Speaker 3: a bunch of texts for the afternoon show. So keep
- 16:57Speaker 3: in mind there's two separate text lines here. So the
- 16:59Speaker 3: text for the Metro News show is three oh four talk,
- 17:02Speaker 3: three oh four, three oh four Talk, three oh four,
- 17:04Speaker 3: but it remains the same for the Tony the Taylor
- 17:07Speaker 3: text line on the local show. So make sure you
- 17:09Speaker 3: know the difference. If you're texting a nine to ten
- 17:11Speaker 3: show with three oh four nine three five five zero
- 17:13Speaker 3: zero eight, that is, of course, courtesy of the one
- 17:16Speaker 3: and only Anthony Parrenzino at Tony the Taylor. Let's bring
- 17:20Speaker 3: it now, the one and only Joe Stevens from the
- 17:21Speaker 3: City of Nitro. Good morning, sir, Good morning, mister Miller.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Mister Miller, Miller.
- 17:28Speaker 9: I'm just I stand corrected because I'm looking at a
- 17:32Speaker 9: text from Dave Miller.
- 17:34Speaker 3: I know Dave Miller very well. Dave and I used
- 17:36Speaker 3: to work together, great guy up in the up in Ravenswood,
- 17:39Speaker 3: doing some great things on the Ravenswood station up there. Mister,
- 17:43Speaker 3: I'm doing fine now that you've insulted me. That's great, man.
- 17:47Speaker 9: Well maybe I insulted mister Miller.
- 17:49Speaker 3: Maybe you did. That's a that's a pretty good uh,
- 17:51Speaker 3: that's a pretty good way of looking at hey. Man,
- 17:54Speaker 3: I gotta get you in studio here because I know
- 17:56Speaker 3: you're always so busy with your role at the Nitro
- 17:59Speaker 3: CVB you that you very rarely ever get out behind
- 18:02Speaker 3: the desk unless you're in your other role, which is
- 18:04Speaker 3: with the Ski Areas Association of West Virginia. But we
- 18:07Speaker 3: got to get you in studio to check out the
- 18:08Speaker 3: new digs here. Man.
- 18:10Speaker 9: I've seen pictures of the radio ranch that mister Lawrence
- 18:15Speaker 9: has put up on Facebook, and I tell you what,
- 18:17Speaker 9: it's Starship one.
- 18:19Speaker 2: It is.
- 18:20Speaker 3: It's pretty nice. It's going to be even better when
- 18:22Speaker 3: we know how to operate everything. So but you, being
- 18:26Speaker 3: an old radio guy, you know all about that.
- 18:30Speaker 9: Yeah. If I can make a mistake, I will indeed.
- 18:33Speaker 3: All right, So, first of all, I want to ask you.
- 18:36Speaker 3: I know this past Sunday you had the Veterans event
- 18:38Speaker 3: with the Vietnam veterans, but you also opened it up
- 18:41Speaker 3: to other veterans this past Sunday and nightro How did
- 18:44Speaker 3: that go?
- 18:45Speaker 9: It went excellent, Dave, And thanks for getting the word
- 18:48Speaker 9: out because we had a very nice crowd. It was
- 18:52Speaker 9: a little bit of drizzle here and there, but for
- 18:54Speaker 9: the most part, it was a nice day all the
- 18:57Speaker 9: way through. All the speakers, Uh, we're able to get
- 19:01Speaker 9: the word out to what they needed to tell, the
- 19:05Speaker 9: tell the folks in the audience and everything. And then
- 19:07Speaker 9: Cecil Roberts, the keynote speaker, the president of the United
- 19:12Speaker 9: mind Workers Association.
- 19:13Speaker 6: They just he just.
- 19:16Speaker 9: Got the crowd robled, not roled up, just thankful that
- 19:20Speaker 9: they were there. Let's let's let's go there. But we
- 19:23Speaker 9: had some folks there. Jim Lewis from the Veterans Assistance
- 19:26Speaker 9: Administration of West Virginia were there. It was here and
- 19:30Speaker 9: just helping folks answer some questions. A lot of folks
- 19:34Speaker 9: they they don't want to get on the phone and
- 19:36Speaker 9: ask questions. They like the face to face and and
- 19:39Speaker 9: and that's what happens at events like this.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a great event. Uh and uh and
- 19:45Speaker 3: and you guys, like I said before, Joe, you guys,
- 19:48Speaker 3: and I don't know any other city in West Virginia
- 19:51Speaker 3: that go that does more for its veterans than what
- 19:53Speaker 3: that what than what Nitro does. And it's a city
- 19:56Speaker 3: that was born out of the military service.
- 20:02Speaker 9: Without a doubt. Nineteen seventeen, things started getting underway here
- 20:06Speaker 9: in Nitro. By the way, just inside the beltway, kind
- 20:10Speaker 9: of information about explosive plants c. Two of the more
- 20:14Speaker 9: renowned employees, a kind of a sidebar actor by the
- 20:20Speaker 9: name of Gable, was an employee. Clark Gable was a plant. Yeah,
- 20:26Speaker 9: I mean he had a couple of movies out there.
- 20:30Speaker 9: And then there was a third baseman that play a
- 20:35Speaker 9: little bit for Pittsburgh, got a little notoriety, but ended
- 20:39Speaker 9: up in the Hall of Fame, Pie Trainer. So it
- 20:43Speaker 9: kind of I love going through the pictures and seeing
- 20:46Speaker 9: the various people that worked there. But two of the
- 20:51Speaker 9: more you would not think of, Clark Gable and Pie
- 20:54Speaker 9: Trainer being employees of explosive plants C in the in
- 20:59Speaker 9: nineteen seventeen.
- 21:00Speaker 3: In nineteen eighteen, are there actual photos available? I know
- 21:03Speaker 3: you said you go through the photos. Do we have
- 21:05Speaker 3: actual I mean, I know for a fact that that
- 21:08Speaker 3: is correct, But do we have actual photos of Clark
- 21:12Speaker 3: Gable working in Nitrou.
- 21:15Speaker 9: I don't know about Gable, but I have sent a
- 21:17Speaker 9: picture off and rich high Bali, the president of the
- 21:20Speaker 9: Historic Commission, would be the person that I will check with. Actually, okay,
- 21:25Speaker 9: but Pie Trainer, there was a company baseball team, a
- 21:29Speaker 9: couple of company baseball teams that I have sent pictures
- 21:32Speaker 9: off to Cooperstown to say, can you recognize any of
- 21:36Speaker 9: these players? Is one of these players? Pie Trainer? If so,
- 21:41Speaker 9: the photo is yours. But I'm still waiting to hear.
- 21:45Speaker 3: We're back on that, all right. But Dave Allan showing
- 21:47Speaker 3: five eighty Live is brought to you a part bout
- 21:49Speaker 3: Hustin's Pizza. Get a large at and Hitch Prepperoni pizza
- 21:52Speaker 3: and large toss Salid twenty one ninety nine eaten pick

- 21:57Speaker 3: While we're talking about baseball, we had a reds Legend
- 22:01Speaker 3: coming to town.
- 22:03Speaker 6: The Saturday.
- 22:04Speaker 9: We're kicking off Little League Baseball in the area here
- 22:08Speaker 9: in Nitro. I think there's some opening days throughout the
- 22:13Speaker 9: Canola Metro Valley area, but here in Nitro we will
- 22:17Speaker 9: kick it off with an eleven o'clock parade coming down
- 22:20Speaker 9: First Avenue, and your grand Marshall is and going to
- 22:23Speaker 9: be George Foster, who was a member of the Big
- 22:27Speaker 9: Red Machine. He was a member of the World Series
- 22:32Speaker 9: teams that captured the title in nineteen seventy five and
- 22:37Speaker 9: in seventy six. In fact, he was playing left field
- 22:40Speaker 9: in Game six of that seventy five World Series when
- 22:44Speaker 9: Carlton Fisk kind of waved his arm and had that
- 22:47Speaker 9: ball go inside the foul pole and to create Game
- 22:52Speaker 9: seven that the Reds went on to win. And then
- 22:55Speaker 9: in nineteen seventy six he was a member of the team.
- 22:58Speaker 9: He then won the Will Player Award in the National
- 23:01Speaker 9: League in nineteen seventy seven when he hit fifty two
- 23:04Speaker 9: home runs, and that was the only time in the
- 23:07Speaker 9: seventies that a player hit fifty or more home runs.
- 23:11Speaker 3: He was a phenomenal player. Man, I can remember it.
- 23:14Speaker 3: I've talked about listening to Red's games on the radio
- 23:16Speaker 3: with my grandfather growing up in the nineteen seventies and
- 23:19Speaker 3: early eighties, and man, when he my grandfather loved Foster
- 23:23Speaker 3: and he could belt one out of the park.
- 23:27Speaker 9: He was one of the first players, if memory serves
- 23:30Speaker 9: me correct on this one, that used a fully black
- 23:33Speaker 9: bat when he came to the plate and everything. I
- 23:37Speaker 9: don't think it was the tardedo type I think, but
- 23:43Speaker 9: what he used, he definitely made a mark. And I
- 23:47Speaker 9: tell you what, he came so close to winning that
- 23:50Speaker 9: the Triple Crown in seventy seven, bat at three sixteen
- 23:54Speaker 9: and then had fifty two home runs and over one
- 23:58Speaker 9: hundred and forty RBIs or so. So he had a
- 24:00Speaker 9: heck of a year that year. We're really excited about
- 24:02Speaker 9: having him. He's going to be the Grand Marshall in
- 24:05Speaker 9: the parade. Then from the parade we will go over
- 24:07Speaker 9: to City Park to one of the fields, to the
- 24:11Speaker 9: opening day field, and he will be throwing out the
- 24:14Speaker 9: ceremonial first pitch of the Little league season for the
- 24:17Speaker 9: Nitro Little League. And then we got some other stuff
- 24:21Speaker 9: played for him too.
- 24:22Speaker 3: So how exactly did Nitro get George Foster? What was
- 24:27Speaker 3: the process?
- 24:27Speaker 2: Like?
- 24:29Speaker 9: Got it on the internet and googled him.
- 24:32Speaker 3: That's all it takes a barently, just get the Google.
- 24:34Speaker 9: Yeah, Dave, you asked, No, I Tim are Not, who
- 24:39Speaker 9: operates the Nitro Antique mall actually, and then also Third
- 24:43Speaker 9: Floor Comics. We've been working on this project together and
- 24:48Speaker 9: he found a site that has that represents various ballplayers
- 24:55Speaker 9: and there was a list for Cincinnati Reds and I
- 24:59Speaker 9: chose George Foster and we have him here Saturday.
- 25:03Speaker 3: So what to talk about for the fans if they
- 25:06Speaker 3: want to meet George Foster? I think there is going
- 25:08Speaker 3: to be an autograph signing later, But how does this work?
- 25:11Speaker 3: If we got because you know where Reds affiliate have
- 25:14Speaker 3: been for several several decades, and there's probably people listening
- 25:18Speaker 3: to this to say, hey, I want to meet George
- 25:20Speaker 3: Foster when he comes to Nitro. How is that possible?
- 25:23Speaker 3: How will that work?
- 25:25Speaker 9: We'll make it real easy for you. Third or four
- 25:27Speaker 9: Comics Tim or Not is doing a baseball cards show
- 25:32Speaker 9: in the Commons area at Nitro High School. We will
- 25:36Speaker 9: have about over twenty exhibitors vendors with baseball cards, but
- 25:41Speaker 9: from noon until two people can come in meet and
- 25:45Speaker 9: greet George Foster and get an autograph from George. Now,
- 25:49Speaker 9: the situation on the autographs is this, if you bring
- 25:52Speaker 9: a hat in or a jersey or a T shirt
- 25:54Speaker 9: or something like that. The cost will be twenty dollars.
- 25:58Speaker 9: If you bring in like a scorecard or you know,
- 26:00Speaker 9: some piece of paper to have George sign it, you
- 26:04Speaker 9: will be charged fifteen dollars. But what George is doing
- 26:08Speaker 9: is donating half of the proceeds from his autograph session
- 26:12Speaker 9: back to the Nitro Little League.
- 26:14Speaker 3: Now that's pretty cool right there, because I mean that
- 26:17Speaker 3: he's given half of the proceeds back. I mean, that's
- 26:20Speaker 3: that's good stuff right there.
- 26:22Speaker 9: You know, I asked him if he would do it,
- 26:25Speaker 9: and there was no hesitation, of course. I mean the
- 26:27Speaker 9: answer I got back was, of course I will. I
- 26:31Speaker 9: mean to see those players in that era will step
- 26:35Speaker 9: up for the community, and a lot of them still
- 26:37Speaker 9: do in the communities that they live and work in
- 26:41Speaker 9: and play in.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Right now, how old is George Foster?
- 26:44Speaker 6: Now do you do?
- 26:45Speaker 3: Have you got access to that. I'm just kind of
- 26:46Speaker 3: curious to how old he is.
- 26:48Speaker 9: He is in his seventies and seventies. He's in his seventies,
- 26:53Speaker 9: and I just look really look forward to having him
- 26:57Speaker 9: here and being an O fan. As you well know,
- 27:03Speaker 9: he was on the seventy team and we might have
- 27:06Speaker 9: to discuss that World Series a little bit. But you
- 27:10Speaker 9: know it might be on a sidebar scenario.
- 27:13Speaker 3: You may be the only person in Nitro Joe to
- 27:16Speaker 3: show up with Oh's paraphernalia for George Foster to sign.
- 27:19Speaker 3: You realize that right now.
- 27:21Speaker 9: You know I was thinking about that. But my son Christian,
- 27:27Speaker 9: he has I mean, he's a Red fan too, that's
- 27:31Speaker 9: his National League team, and I'm borrowing his Cincinnati Red
- 27:35Speaker 9: pat that day.
- 27:36Speaker 3: You know, it is interesting because yesterday we had a
- 27:40Speaker 3: little retirement get together for Joe Parsons, who is the
- 27:44Speaker 3: happy Joe who is served sort of, I don't know what.
- 27:47Speaker 3: The official title was General manager of the Charleston cluster
- 27:49Speaker 3: here and also an executive Metro News. He is retiring.
- 27:53Speaker 3: His son, Jared is taking over as the GM here.
- 27:57Speaker 3: We had Jared on the air with his dad yesterday.
- 27:59Speaker 3: I had a discussion my office before the show. Jared's
- 28:02Speaker 3: coming to us from the Eastern Panhandle where he managed
- 28:06Speaker 3: our cluster of radio stations up there. He is now
- 28:09Speaker 3: an Orioles fan. Jared is. He picked him up when
- 28:14Speaker 3: he went up there. So I'm just saying you are
- 28:17Speaker 3: not now Joe Stevens the only Baltimore Orioles fan here
- 28:20Speaker 3: in the Canal Valley. I'm sure there's a few more,
- 28:22Speaker 3: but the new boss here, Jared Parsons, is a big
- 28:25Speaker 3: time Orioles fan.
- 28:27Speaker 9: I will probably in my trip down to the radio ranch,
- 28:32Speaker 9: I will I'll have you introduce me to the young
- 28:36Speaker 9: mister Parsons and and I will bring him up to
- 28:40Speaker 9: speed on some of the history of the owned.
- 28:42Speaker 3: Sure he'd appreciate that. Hey, before we let you go,
- 28:44Speaker 3: and we'll give we'll get all the details out there
- 28:46Speaker 3: about the George Foster appearance with the Nitro Little League
- 28:48Speaker 3: and then the collectible show. We did have a text
- 28:51Speaker 3: here for you that said, like Saint albans Kanah City
- 28:54Speaker 3: and Charleston's East End, does Nitro have a community city
- 28:58Speaker 3: wide yard sale? If so, what date is that? If not,
- 29:02Speaker 3: please consider.
- 29:02Speaker 9: One first Saturday of June.
- 29:07Speaker 3: First Saturday of June. I thought you'd been on the
- 29:08Speaker 3: air talking about that in the past, First Saturday of June.
- 29:11Speaker 3: And that's just one of these typical community yard sales
- 29:13Speaker 3: where everybody just puts your stuff out right.
- 29:17Speaker 9: Exactly the amount of traffic that comes through a city
- 29:22Speaker 9: on any time, any city. It could be South Charleston,
- 29:25Speaker 9: Saint Albans, Nitro.
- 29:27Speaker 2: What have you.
- 29:28Speaker 9: When you have a city wide yard sailed, you better
- 29:31Speaker 9: be ready to stand in line, as it may be
- 29:35Speaker 9: a couple of things real quick about the event of Saturday,
- 29:38Speaker 9: ye after the well during the car show. The car
- 29:43Speaker 9: show goes from ten until five in the Commons George
- 29:46Speaker 9: Seigning autographs from noon until two after he throws out
- 29:51Speaker 9: the first pitch George Foster of the Cincinnati Reds. And
- 29:54Speaker 9: then but from two to four in the gymnasium of
- 29:59Speaker 9: Nitro High School, Team Trivia will be on hand and
- 30:03Speaker 9: all the questions you hear you see Team Trivia being
- 30:06Speaker 9: held at various watering holes throughout the Metro Valley area.
- 30:10Speaker 9: And well, team Trivia will be there and we will
- 30:14Speaker 9: be doing all baseball questions right all baseball questions the
- 30:19Speaker 9: first place team gets. You can have up to six
- 30:22Speaker 9: players on your team or you can come by yourself.
- 30:24Speaker 9: But the first place team will get two hundred dollars,
- 30:27Speaker 9: second place team one hundred dollars, fifty dollars for third place.
- 30:31Speaker 9: Then at six thirty right there in the gym, we
- 30:34Speaker 9: will have Field of Dreams, free free movie and admission
- 30:38Speaker 9: to the card show is free, by the way, but
- 30:41Speaker 9: the movie at six thirty in the gymnasium up when
- 30:44Speaker 9: their JumboTron in the gymnasium will be Field of Dreams
- 30:47Speaker 9: free popcorn courtesy of the Regal Cinema in Nitro. So
- 30:52Speaker 9: it'll be a big baseball day throughout the day here
- 30:55Speaker 9: at Nitro Saturday.
- 30:56Speaker 3: All right, and we hope the weather holds out because
- 30:59Speaker 3: the licking out of dicey as I understand right now
- 31:02Speaker 3: for Saturday, Joe.
- 31:04Speaker 9: And with that said, if something happens that we can't
- 31:08Speaker 9: play baseball or what have you, we will have the
- 31:11Speaker 9: card show. George Foster will be in town signing autographs
- 31:15Speaker 9: raising money for the Little League. We will have team trivia,
- 31:18Speaker 9: and we will also have the movie. So that's all
- 31:21Speaker 9: indoors because we were thinking about doing it on the
- 31:23Speaker 9: jumbo tron at the football field, but with the weather
- 31:27Speaker 9: the way it is, we're going to be inside for that.
- 31:29Speaker 3: All right, Hey, Joe, it's always a pleasure. Good luck
- 31:32Speaker 3: and reach you the other day, Dave Miller. Uh so,
- 31:35Speaker 3: so good luck with that.
- 31:36Speaker 9: Okay, all right, Well give him your best, all.
- 31:40Speaker 3: Right, he's a great guy. I appreciate you for letting
- 31:43Speaker 3: us know what's going on, Niro, mister Stevens. We'll talk
- 31:45Speaker 3: again soon. Thanks a lot, Thank you, sir. All right,

- 34:26Speaker 12: about what we do is pretty unique in Jarrett Construction,
- 34:30Speaker 12: Bake Care. They're really really good people. Good people do
- 34:33Speaker 12: the right thing, and their very skilled. They have all
- 34:35Speaker 12: the qualities that make up just a perfect construction partner,
- 34:38Speaker 12: and they just still us a phenomenal building.
- 34:40Speaker 3: At only time, right on budget.

- 35:13Speaker 3: about Joe who a long time. He's been in a
- 35:17Speaker 3: big time official with Metro News. He's managed the cluster
- 35:19Speaker 3: here in Charleston, Joe officially retiring his son Jared, coming
- 35:24Speaker 3: to us from the Eastern Panhandle to take over operations
- 35:27Speaker 3: here for the Charleston Cluster. Joe showed back up earlier
- 35:32Speaker 3: and Tracy made him sign in as a guest. She
- 35:36Speaker 3: just sent me a picture of as she and the
- 35:38Speaker 3: Steve Annamal just sent me a picture of our own
- 35:40Speaker 3: Joe Parsons having to now sign in as a guest
- 35:44Speaker 3: out front. That's that's gay. You know, you're retired, you're retired,
- 35:48Speaker 3: you know, why are you here? But anyway, I thought
- 35:51Speaker 3: that was kind of funny. I may post that picture
- 35:53Speaker 3: a little bit later on. Joe, of course, serves in
- 35:55Speaker 3: the House of Delegates, so he's not done with Charleston.
- 35:57Speaker 3: He was. He stopped by here for a minute. Then
- 36:01Speaker 3: the guard dog out front, Tracy, made him sign it
- 36:04Speaker 3: I love it, I love it, Texas Dave. Just a
- 36:07Speaker 3: reminder to all east Enders at street sweeping started up
- 36:11Speaker 3: again today and the City of Charleston was out at
- 36:13Speaker 3: nine to one am ticketing folks. They didn't waste even
- 36:17Speaker 3: a minute. Still a mystery why only East End residents
- 36:20Speaker 3: have to deal with this nonsense, says a Texter. Well,
- 36:24Speaker 3: the Mayor of Charleston will be on the show next Monday,
- 36:28Speaker 3: as is her. I aired when I said she was
- 36:30Speaker 3: going to be on the show this past Monday, because
- 36:32Speaker 3: for some reason I lost the ability to read a
- 36:34Speaker 3: calendar and I was thinking yesterday was April first, but
- 36:37Speaker 3: it wasn't. So the Mayor, her normal monthly appearance, will
- 36:41Speaker 3: be next Monday, and we'll give her twenty thirty minutes
- 36:43Speaker 3: or so. I actually will give you twenty or thirty
- 36:45Speaker 3: minutes or so to talk to the Mayor on the
- 36:47Speaker 3: show next Monday. So for that text, if you want
- 36:50Speaker 3: to bring that up to the Mayor. She'll be on
- 36:53Speaker 3: the show next week, and we do have some news
- 36:55Speaker 3: out of the city of Charleston. I'll get to that
- 36:57Speaker 3: coming up here in a couple of moments, but I
- 36:59Speaker 3: do want to walk board a new sponsor to the show,

- 37:12Speaker 3: on board to the show. Coming up on tomorrow's show,
- 37:15Speaker 3: the West Virginia Home Show is back at the Kyle
- 37:18Speaker 3: Seaman Convention Center later this week into the weekend. We
- 37:20Speaker 3: will talk to some folks associated with that. And April
- 37:24Speaker 3: is Autism Awareness Month. Actually tomorrow, I think it's tomorrow
- 37:28Speaker 3: is National Autism Day. We're gonna have a discussion about
- 37:32Speaker 3: that coming up on the show tomorrow as well. And
- 37:35Speaker 3: a reminder that Metro News Midday powered by Selango Law
- 37:39Speaker 3: is on your radio or device today starting at noon thirteen.
- 37:42Speaker 3: News and Tonight Live anchor Amanda Baron and myself lots
- 37:46Speaker 3: to talk about around the state of West Virginia in
- 37:48Speaker 3: the news, including about Oregon donations in West Virginia. Also,
- 37:52Speaker 3: you may have heard the state's two largest teacher unions,
- 37:55Speaker 3: the American Federation of Teachers and the West Virginia Education Association,
- 37:58Speaker 3: are merging. We're going to get into that story. Plus,
- 38:01Speaker 3: during the two o'clock hour, the always Colorful, always funny
- 38:04Speaker 3: you Love Him, Greg Thomas will be on the show.
- 38:08Speaker 3: And Greg has been on on statewide with Hoppy and
- 38:11Speaker 3: I think he's been on with Meadows and Wilson, so
- 38:14Speaker 3: he's no stranger to the people of West Virginia. But
- 38:16Speaker 3: he will be on the show during the two o'clock hour.
- 38:19Speaker 3: That's Metro News Midday with thirteen News and Tonight Live
- 38:21Speaker 3: anchor Amanda Barron and me Noon today on the w
- 38:25Speaker 3: COCHS network here in Charleston, throughout the state on the
- 38:27Speaker 3: Metro News Radio Network. All Right, speaking of the city
- 38:32Speaker 3: of Charleston. Tomorrow, at one o'clock, Charleston Marreor Amy Shudler Goodwin,
- 38:38Speaker 3: the Charleston stern Will Regatta Commission and the Charleston Convention
- 38:42Speaker 3: and Visitors Bureau will have a press conference to announce
- 38:45Speaker 3: the performers for this summer's regatta. Now, the press conference
- 38:49Speaker 3: is scheduled for one o'clock tomorrow in the Office of
- 38:53Speaker 3: Encovia Insurance on Courrier Street here in Charleston, and of
- 38:57Speaker 3: course since the return of the regatta a few years
- 38:59Speaker 3: ago in COVID has has been the primary sponsor, along
- 39:03Speaker 3: with some others, but they're there. They're the name sponsors,
- 39:06Speaker 3: so to speak. So that's why it's being If you're
- 39:08Speaker 3: wondering why is it being held there, that's probably why
- 39:10Speaker 3: it's being hell there. I would say, so when the
- 39:13Speaker 3: entertainment for regatta is announced, let's go ahead unless cute
- 39:17Speaker 3: of people who won't be happy about the lineup of performers.
- 39:22Speaker 3: It's happened every year since the regatta came back, and
- 39:26Speaker 3: I'm going to go ahead and make a bold prediction
- 39:29Speaker 3: it's going to continue tomorrow as well. And I said
- 39:32Speaker 3: this last year and I caught some I got a
- 39:35Speaker 3: little flak on social media about it, but but I
- 39:38Speaker 3: will hold to this. The amount of people who find
- 39:43Speaker 3: something to complain about when it comes to free entertainment
- 39:48Speaker 3: truly amazes me. And last year and the year before that,
- 39:53Speaker 3: when the announcement was made about regatta coming back and
- 39:58Speaker 3: the press conference was held and I I had the
- 40:00Speaker 3: officials on the show. Normally I have them on the
- 40:02Speaker 3: day after the press conference. The people that complained about
- 40:08Speaker 3: free entertainment free, I don't understand, I really don't. If
- 40:16Speaker 3: you don't like it, don't go just you know, just saying,
- 40:21Speaker 3: and no matter across the board. If you have eighties music,
- 40:24Speaker 3: there were people complaining about it. If you have hip hop,
- 40:27Speaker 3: they don't like that either. You do a true oldies act.
- 40:32Speaker 3: And by the way, none of us want to hear
- 40:35Speaker 3: this in terms of music and overall marketing on retro things.
- 40:42Speaker 3: Oldies and retro is now two thousand and five. I
- 40:47Speaker 3: know that hurts. None of us, including myself, want to
- 40:50Speaker 3: hear that. But that's if you want to get into
- 40:54Speaker 3: from a marketing standpoint. If you want to get into
- 40:57Speaker 3: what oldies is, oldies is now two thousand and five,
- 41:04Speaker 3: you're welcome. But anyway, I'm gonna go ahead and make
- 41:11Speaker 3: the prediction now that social media, your social media feed
- 41:16Speaker 3: and mine will be flooded with people not happy about
- 41:19Speaker 3: the lineup. But side note, the press conference is tomorrow
- 41:24Speaker 3: at one o'clock and in Cova, and we, of course
- 41:27Speaker 3: we'll have our news team there covering and I'll be
- 41:29Speaker 3: on the air at that time and we'll have news
- 41:32Speaker 3: stories about it, and it'll be on your social media
- 41:34Speaker 3: and people will complain and saying I can't believe they're
- 41:37Speaker 3: not bringing in so and I can't, but yeah, just
- 41:39Speaker 3: get ready for it.
- 41:39Speaker 2: Get ready for it.
- 41:40Speaker 3: On the show on Thursday, as we've done in the past,
- 41:45Speaker 3: I will more than likely have people either from the
- 41:47Speaker 3: Regatta Committee on Brian Hughes from Storm Track and thirteen
- 41:50Speaker 3: always does a great job with that. With the Regatta Committee,
- 41:54Speaker 3: Tim Brady from the Charleston Convention of Visitors, Bureau mayor Goodwin.
- 41:58Speaker 3: Not sure who's going to be here yet. Body on
- 42:00Speaker 3: the Regatta committee will be on the show on Thursday.
- 42:02Speaker 3: I guess to explain why they didn't get your favorite act.
- 42:06Speaker 3: I say that tongue in cheek. But when I saw
- 42:08Speaker 3: the announcement I got the press release yesterday that said
- 42:11Speaker 3: that the Regatta lineup would be announced, I thought, here
- 42:14Speaker 3: we go. I told the girls in the office upstairs,
- 42:17Speaker 3: here we go. You the people complaining about it, But
- 42:19Speaker 3: again we'll talk about it on the show on Thursday.

- 45:58Speaker 3: So Aaron Parker has the story post to wv metronews
- 46:03Speaker 3: dot com. The Senate yesterday passed SB five thirty one,
- 46:06Speaker 3: which has to do with the assault and battery of
- 46:09Speaker 3: sports officials. It is a sad state of affairs when
- 46:14Speaker 3: we have to have we even have to have legislation
- 46:18Speaker 3: like this, but here we are. The bill greatly ramps
- 46:24Speaker 3: up the penalties for those who would assault refs. It
- 46:27Speaker 3: raises the fines too. Now the maximum fine for assault
- 46:30Speaker 3: on the sports official would go from the current five
- 46:34Speaker 3: hundred bucks to up to one thousand or six months
- 46:37Speaker 3: in jail or both. For battery on an official that
- 46:42Speaker 3: was just assault, now this is for battery on anofficial,
- 46:44Speaker 3: the fine would raise from the current maximum of one
- 46:47Speaker 3: thousand dollars to between one to two thousand and up
- 46:51Speaker 3: to a year in jail or both. Again, the fact
- 46:54Speaker 3: that we even have to have this discussion is a
- 46:57Speaker 3: sad commentary in my opinion on our society, and it's
- 47:02Speaker 3: an unpopular opinion. But if we keep going down this
- 47:07Speaker 3: road across the country of parents thinking they are more
- 47:11Speaker 3: important than they are in the scheme of athletics play
- 47:16Speaker 3: the game without fans, which really wouldn't be fair to
- 47:20Speaker 3: the what ninety nine percent of the fans who attend
- 47:22Speaker 3: games and act like they have some sort of sense.
- 47:28Speaker 3: Read the story that Aaron has posted about it at
- 47:31Speaker 3: wvmetronews dot com. Tex says, two numbers for two different shows.
- 47:38Speaker 3: You may as well put in a round about to
- 47:40Speaker 3: complicate it even more. West Virginias don't do well with roundabouts.
- 47:44Speaker 3: So I don't think no, it's two different shows. It's
- 47:47Speaker 3: two different platforms, two different everything.
- 47:49Speaker 2: You know.
- 47:49Speaker 3: One's metro news, one's local that's why this shows aired
- 47:52Speaker 3: and Charleston. The other one's aired statewide. So we use
- 47:55Speaker 3: the same text line for the afternoon show that they
- 48:00Speaker 3: use on hotline, the same one that they use on
- 48:02Speaker 3: talk line, and the same one that they use on
- 48:05Speaker 3: sports Line. If it were up to me, we'd use
- 48:07Speaker 3: a party line. And people are scratching their heads and
- 48:10Speaker 3: young people going what the heck's of party line? Another
- 48:14Speaker 3: story from under the Dome this morning, the House has
- 48:16Speaker 3: passed legislation that would take away civil protections and the
- 48:20Speaker 3: agreements procedures for some state employees. Vote in the House
- 48:24Speaker 3: went sixty nine to thirty on HB twenty thirteen, which
- 48:27Speaker 3: would remove the protections from several departments Senior Services, Department
- 48:31Speaker 3: of Administration, Department of Environmental Protection, Revenue Veterans Assistance among them.
- 48:36Speaker 3: The bill was requested by the governor, and again a
- 48:40Speaker 3: lot of people are upset about it, but let's keep
- 48:42Speaker 3: in mind, this is what the people voted for because
- 48:47Speaker 3: Governor Morrissey, I know he talked about it in the
- 48:49Speaker 3: State of the State. I'm pretty sure he talked about
- 48:51Speaker 3: it on the campaign trail that this is one of
- 48:53Speaker 3: the things that he wanted to do and he's doing it,
- 48:57Speaker 3: or at least it's out there right now now. So
- 49:01Speaker 3: kind of where we are. But Dave Island Show on

- 49:16Speaker 3: people need to arm themselves. Never know when people in
- 49:18Speaker 3: a mask will grab you off the streets and you'll disappear. Well,
- 49:21Speaker 3: that's that's a nice, pleasant a lot. Let's go to
- 49:25Speaker 3: the Capitol and let's check in with the boys. Wilson
- 49:29Speaker 3: and Meadows. Good morning, gentlemen.
- 49:31Speaker 14: You know, Dave, I was sitting here thinking I haven't
- 49:34Speaker 14: given you enough credit because I listened to three minutes
- 49:36Speaker 14: of your show and you irritated me to the point
- 49:38Speaker 14: I wanted to text in, but I didn't know which
- 49:40Speaker 14: number to text.
- 49:41Speaker 3: So love it. And see this furthers the thing, Wilson
- 49:46Speaker 3: that the two days don't get along, and nothing could
- 49:49Speaker 3: be further from the truth. We hang out, we're buddies.
- 49:51Speaker 3: We go to ball games, toget we run through the park,
- 49:54Speaker 3: we have picnics, right right.
- 49:56Speaker 14: Oh yeah, yeah, we get together. We cry on each
- 49:59Speaker 14: other shoulders and you know, uh, we're where we are,
- 50:03Speaker 14: our own emotional support animal.
- 50:05Speaker 3: We both complained about TJ. So there there's yeah, there
- 50:07Speaker 3: you go. Well, I mean I got to share an
- 50:09Speaker 3: office with him. You just have a two hour cubicles,
- 50:11Speaker 3: you know, And and you know when TJ's in the place,
- 50:14Speaker 3: because you know, the glare of his perfectly shine shoes
- 50:17Speaker 3: goes into your eyes. And uh, and he's always playing
- 50:20Speaker 3: with our putting green we have in the office, you know,
- 50:22Speaker 3: he's he's one of you have a putting green. Yeah,
- 50:25Speaker 3: we have a putting It's big time hero. Got a
- 50:27Speaker 3: disco ball in the office too.
- 50:29Speaker 14: I got to start making some requisitions for the Morgantown Bureau.
- 50:33Speaker 3: There, Bud, what's on the show today, my friend, that.
- 50:37Speaker 6: Is a very good question.
- 50:38Speaker 14: How So, Finance Committee Chairman Vernon Chris is going to
- 50:40Speaker 14: join us right off the top, and we are going
- 50:42Speaker 14: to go over the House budget proposal, which is very
- 50:46Speaker 14: dissimilar from the budget proposal put forth by Governor Morrissey.
- 50:51Speaker 14: A little bit later on, Joey Garcia, Marion County Senator,
- 50:54Speaker 14: will stop by. Brad McElhenny will join us as well.
- 50:58Speaker 14: There are a lot of things happening, but a lot
- 51:01Speaker 14: of things not happening, if that makes any sense. But
- 51:04Speaker 14: that kind of sums up the entire the entire legislative session. Also,
- 51:09Speaker 14: we'll get an update on what's happening up in Morgantown.
- 51:11Speaker 14: We're hearing and multiple sources have confirmed that employees are
- 51:15Speaker 14: being laid off at the federal Niosh Agency up in
- 51:18Speaker 14: Morgantown this morning. Kind of a cruel day to do
- 51:22Speaker 14: such things. But we'll get updated on all of that,
- 51:26Speaker 14: and we will check in on the text line. We
- 51:28Speaker 14: only have one text number that we have to give
- 51:30Speaker 14: away on this show. We'll check in on that as well.
- 51:32Speaker 3: But now when you do the show, I don't think
- 51:35Speaker 3: you do it anymore. But when you did the local
- 51:37Speaker 3: show in Morgantown, was there a different text line for
- 51:39Speaker 3: that show?
- 51:40Speaker 14: No, I simplify the process and just use the same number.
- 51:43Speaker 3: Well, what it is, I'll tell you what it is.
