- 0:48and welcome back to this very extremely special episode. Oh the All Nerves
- 1:03Show, the voice of urban geek. The podcast and distresses geek and pop
- 1:11culture from the perspective of people of color. And as always, I mean
- 1:19not for a while, but back in the Captain's chair, it's your boy,
- 1:22DJ Been, I mean aka the Mobius Deep Ghost in the Sheltere Doctor
- 1:27whose man is this master spin herself Trinidad Bang, keep that same inner JOm
- 1:33when you see me, are Sinio Holo back here in the spaceship tonight and
- 1:42as always, it's been a minute. Yeah, waiting to jump in,
- 1:49waiting to jump in. It is I Tatiana King d Grand Duches of Tech,
- 1:53also known as the Coldest Winter Soldier ever, Tatiana Kang, the Conqueror,
- 1:59Scroll of City and Miles Tails the Prowler, Lord of Lightsabers and the
- 2:04Team of the North. Mm hmmm mm hmm. Yeah, I don't really
- 2:10know what to say. Yeah, we are back, as you can see
- 2:14if you're watching us on twitch, dot tv, Slash for All Nerds or
- 2:17YouTube, you know for all nerds whatever it is on there. Uh you
- 2:22know, I can't remember, it's been a minute, but yeah, YouTube
- 2:23for all Nerds. We there, you know, everywhere everywhere. Listen,
- 2:27Ben, you remember we own the internet at this point, We've been on
- 2:30there, and I just want to say that I'm so proud and happy that
- 2:34see you back. I told Bent, I mean, I do not like
- 2:38podcasting with anybody but him. I can't just bring myself to just be doing
- 2:46it with somebody Rand. I'm like, nah, I need my bro.
- 2:47I need my bro. So it's a hit different. So let me just
- 2:51say congratulations on your return. I think it's something to celebrate. So I'm
- 2:55happy you're back. Well, thank you very much, and thank you for
- 3:00holding down everything when I took my sabbatical, because, you know, just
- 3:05off the break, because I saw people asking, where's the show? You
- 3:07know, all that type of thing, and you know, certain people didn't
- 3:10know because I guess they might not follow me on socials specifically. But my
- 3:15father, William Bird Johnson, passed away from this realm, from this world
- 3:22on July thirty first of this year, and so ever since then, I
- 3:25obviously needed some time to just get myself together and to grieve properly and to
- 3:31mourn him and to celebrate his life the way I feel like it should have
- 3:36been and should be to this day and you know, forever. So that's
- 3:39what I've been doing, you know, And it was definitely tough on me.
- 3:44You know, my mom passed some years back, and I mean not
- 3:47that long ago, to be honest, and so you know, both of
- 3:53them passing has been a little hard on me, and so I really needed
- 3:57some time off. I took time off from work. I really wasn't doing
- 4:00much of anything, playing a lot of video games and working on music mainly,
- 4:05and reading comic books and stuff. Like that. So that's all I've
- 4:09pretty much been doing. And then I started back, you know, DJing
- 4:13weddings and you know, my basic my day job. I got back to
- 4:16that, and then I started back with some therapy recently and shout out to
- 4:21my therapist and that's been helping a lot. And then I was like,
- 4:26you know, it's about time to do the show because you know this week
- 4:28is New York Comic Con, and you know I'll definitely be there because you
- 4:31know, no matter what is going on in life, as Christmas man,
- 4:35Yeah, that's my Christmas, my Halloween, all rolled under one. So
- 4:41I'm so hyped. I mean, we're recording right now on Wednesday night and
- 4:44Comic Con starts in the morning, and I know the hall's already filled up
- 4:47and you already in there. Yeah. I was already in there. Everything's
- 4:55there. Everything's crazy. The com before the storm, did you see anything
- 4:59like the because I'll tell you that the one year that just always blows me.
- 5:02I mean that blows me. It's like one of my favorite moments is
- 5:05when they had the Jurassic Park entrance. Okay, because when you walked into
- 5:11theme music played and this mist hit you in the face and so yeah,
- 5:16the miss and the theme music between the mist and the theme forty theater effects.
- 5:21I never realized how much I loved the or loved the Jurassic Part theme
- 5:27until that year because it's John Williams, you know, so you had another
- 5:30of his themes, but I never realized how good that one was. And
- 5:34when you walk in and that missed hit, I was like, yo,
- 5:40I used to walk through that like that whole weekend. I would just walk
- 5:43through that joint every time I was throwing it at all to make sure I
- 5:46walked through that entrance. So yeah, man, they were. It was
- 5:49so funny. Most of the stuff was already up, like as you can
- 5:53imagine, they were probably doing some last minich and touches because like when I
- 5:56went to go get my badge, like there was like this when those tractor
- 6:00type things that's like hanging stuff up and they was dropping boxes and shit,
- 6:03and I'm like, damn, y'all fucking up already. But like I'm sure
- 6:08there'll be something like that somewhere maybe, but but you know, the typical
- 6:14giant banners were everywhere the you know, this is the main shaite, this
- 6:16is that, And I would just say that it's cool to kind of be
- 6:19back in those halls and get that the preliminary energy and that feeling back again.
- 6:24Like I like, call me a weirdough, right, I like when
- 6:28places that are supposed to be super packed are actually very empty. Yeah,
- 6:30because I I or empty enough, you know, relatively speaking. It's like
- 6:36I actually thought some of the pandemic was a blessing because I liked being in
- 6:41New York in a place that should never be empty, completely empty, but
- 6:45it was. It was pretty cool, like to to be able to be
- 6:47un you know, unfeathered, no one's, no one's in your way,
- 6:50no one, no bio and all this other stuff, and it's just like
- 6:54you get to see it and it's most pristine, right, and it's most
- 6:58intended. So it's really cool to see Comic Con in that way. But
- 7:00man, everything is up ready to go. Hopefully they picked them in boxes
- 7:05they dropped, and I'm you know, I'm excited. I'm excited to see
- 7:09everybody. Oh I did see Joe Illich. Shout out to Joe Ilache.
- 7:11I did see him there too. Shout out to Joe. I can't wait
- 7:14to see him tomorrow. I can't wait to see so many people. If
- 7:17you're at Comic Con, look out for us. You know, we will
- 7:20be there all four days pretty much most of all four days, so we'll
- 7:26be out there, uh with some exclusives. We got some stickers as always.
- 7:31We have a panel on what will be part of a panel on Sunday
- 7:36Sunday, Sunday Sunday, So at that panel we'll definitely have some T shirts
- 7:42and stuff as well to give away to people. So come through to that,
- 7:46you know, get yourself something, some good stuff. Yeah. Yeah,
- 7:49we'll be there all four days. You'll be seeing us. You know,
- 7:51we rocking these shirts you know that you see on me right now,
- 7:55Ty Town of wearing one that you can you know, get on for all
- 7:58nerds dot com. Thanks, thank you so much, even during this break,
- 8:01to everyone who has been supporting us, supporting a small black owned independent
- 8:07business at for on Theirds dot com. We've been doing these shirts ourselves now,
- 8:13printing them off, coming up with these designs, shipping them out,
- 8:16all this different stuff. It's a work in progress, so thank you.
- 8:20Appreciate the grace for those who are getting grace. Yes, something we've talked
- 8:26about across media about how black owned brands are treated, especially brand new black
- 8:31owned briends who are actually putting into work and doing their best to be great.
- 8:35Sometimes things also happen. So please give us some grace. Reach out
- 8:39to us, because all we want to do is make sure you're happy,
- 8:41and if we want to make sure everything, if anything's going on, that
- 8:45it gets resolved. So if you have a problem, reach out, email
- 8:48us, hit us up. We're going to make it right. But you
- 8:50know, give us some grace. Yes. And speaking of grace, like
- 8:54we said, we've been taking a break, you know, getting our own
- 8:58thoughts and order and everything. Thing. And another thing. If you follow
- 9:01me on social media, especially on Twitter, you might have seen I had
- 9:05some tweets where I was discussing some of the reasons why I was in in
- 9:09a hurry to get back the podcasting. And like we said, this is
- 9:13the tenth anniversary of four on NERD, so we've been doing this a minute
- 9:16and I've been doing podcasting even longer than that. Like I saw someone had
- 9:20a tweet today where they're talking about when you've been podcasting since since it was
- 9:24like you know, in house journalistic editors and all this to more of a
- 9:31TV type of world where they you know, outsourced their editing and all these
- 9:35things. And you have TV showrunners coming into podcasting and tell people to do
- 9:39and I'm just like, I've been in podcasting when motherfucking know what a podcast
- 9:43was. Like you talking about when podcasts and had internal editors. I'm talking
- 9:48about podcasts and when everything was you back in my day? Yeah, And
- 9:52I mean, and that's not my thing like back in my day. And
- 9:54I think it's just I've been in this a long time. And like,
- 9:56as far as why I even sweach to fall nerds from doing hip hop type
- 10:01podcasting was I hated how I saw when we and you even see it today
- 10:07with the Joe Budden and Drake stuff. When someone has a criticism of someone,
- 10:11it turns into beef, you know. And so I was like,
- 10:13well, if I talk about somebody Comma book, they you know, they
- 10:16might be mad, but what they gonna do. I slapped these Comba book
- 10:20creators around. You know, ain't the one in proproaching me in the street
- 10:24fans trying to draw you into a panel and kill you off. That's the
- 10:28only dude. Kry Randolph, you know me and him, might you know
- 10:33he might got hands for him, because I'm not in that damn book you
- 10:35are. He might he might got hands for me, you know. So
- 10:37other than that, I slap around, you know, but I've seen Joe
- 10:41Illige working out my man. You not Astro, Isaac not Ato, No,
- 10:52oh god, God, his name is staving me. So I'm just
- 10:56trying to keep it moving. But yeah, I slapped these comic book creators
- 10:58around. So I've switched to for All Nerd so I could say whatever I
- 11:03wanted to say and not worry about that. But in the time that we've
- 11:07been doing it, what I've seen, and what I'm sure you've all seen,
- 11:11is how the ecosystem around us has changed and grown. And it's like,
- 11:16now there's all these different people of color representing in the system, when
- 11:20before it was just us and a couple of other people. Shout out people
- 11:24like Rodhamus Prime who've been around longer than us even and you know the black
- 11:28nerd, you know, the black girl nerd who you know had a different
- 11:31name back then, you know. So it's like there's a couple of people,
- 11:35but it wasn't a lot when we started, and so now it's a
- 11:39lot of people. But beyond that, just the whole ecosystem of YouTube,
- 11:43of social media, of everything has turned into this thing one where it's very
- 11:46negative. Negativity gets you more clicks. You know, neat you dog something,
- 11:52people will immediately come to you. You know, you hate on something,
- 11:54people will come to you. And we have never been like that.
- 12:00People call me a hater, but for the most part that you see,
- 12:05we are pretty positive on most things. Are We don't sit around like you
- 12:09can look at our headlines, et cetera. We don't have those clip baited
- 12:11ass headline but we're like this show sucks. You know, sometimes we have
- 12:15we have questionable headlines, but never we have questionable that make you want to
- 12:18ask a question. Yeah, never, But we're never just and we don't
- 12:22just outrighte doll things. I've never been that way. You've never been that
- 12:26way, you know. Like I said once five years ago, I was
- 12:28working in like even to the day's to work in Hollywood in some capacity where
- 12:33I learned, you know, it's a lot of cooks making these pies,
- 12:37and sometimes the people who you want to say suck, like the writers and
- 12:41directors made a good ass pie and then that pie got ruined by someone else
- 12:45along the way. Yeah, yeah, there's a lot of factors that you
- 12:46don't know about. I mean, the thing is, at the end of
- 12:48the day, we're media professionals. We've been at this forsolon that we can
- 12:54very clearly call ourselves that, and I believe that no imposter system here.
- 12:56I'm I'm a media professional and we learn Thank you sir, We've learned to
- 13:03and thank you to you too, right, We've learned to critique right and
- 13:07back up our thoughts with details and supporting information. And this is that that
- 13:13so so just furtheres to what be I mean is saying about not being straight
- 13:18haired, like, oh, this is ass right now, we might use
- 13:20that, I might use that as an adjective like all this shit was asked,
- 13:24but then explain what I mean by that, right, Like I won't
- 13:26just say this ass and then go skip down the street, right, Like
- 13:28I try to explain myself and then even even me, I've evolved over time,
- 13:35like temper that way, like from what that I mean is saying him
- 13:37being in a space he's taught me like hey, by the way, you
- 13:41know even though you're feeling that way, even though and it's like it's just
- 13:43a way to balance and communicate it. Right, you can tell the truth
- 13:46because at the end of the day, we're going to tell the truth without
- 13:48like with also still being considerate of the fact that there are a lot of
- 13:52moving parts, a lot of different people who do different things that create a
- 13:58product, a show, a book, whatever, Right, Like, there's
- 14:01a lot that goes into it. So it's like we're still being mindful,
- 14:03still trying to be respectful of the people who are involved. But at the
- 14:05same time, if something ain't right, we're gonna I then I mean,
- 14:09we're gonna say something. And that being said, that's the thing, like
- 14:13I said, there's this negative you know, ecosystem going on that you have
- 14:18to fight against. And then my other issue that I also brought up is
- 14:22the fact that we are basically at some point it's like when we do a
- 14:26show like Views from the six one six, where we cover all a Marvel
- 14:28show in depth, we are being a huge commercial for Marvel and for Disney.
- 14:35We're not getting paid by the one. Everyone thinks that we are not
- 14:39getting paid y'all nothing, We're not getting paid like we're covering because we thought
- 14:46we fucked we were fucking with it that we love it, that like the
- 14:50overall process, that's something that we're interested in. And you know, this
- 14:52is something that interests us in general fandom. Right now, we cover but
- 14:58we don't get much. Right, this is the very people that were potentially
- 15:03were the people, but the corporation rather that we're propping up. We're not
- 15:07getting too many kickbacks from that, right, and no no kid backs,
- 15:11no monetary kid back worse times. And that's because, like I say,
- 15:16the ecosystem has grown and there's always somebody else that these people can give access
- 15:18to that this corporation give access to. And because of that, it becomes
- 15:22this thing where it becomes a crab and the barrel thing where we are start
- 15:26fighting over it. And I'm looking at in the camera and I say this,
- 15:28it discussed me. It straight have discussed me. How a lot of
- 15:31people in this world, I mean, in this sphere act and we as
- 15:37you can see, like by All Star shows, we are always the ones
- 15:39reaching out to everyone. We've brought all kind of different people with their own
- 15:46platform onto our platform to express their views, to join in this camaraderie,
- 15:52to show that you know, the unity and the strength that can happen,
- 15:54and nine times out of ten, I do not feel that same love come
- 15:58back, and it is what it is. Rest in peace of my brother
- 16:00combat Jack. He used to tell me it doesn't matter, you know.
- 16:03He's like, you know how many people I've put on who never said anything
- 16:06to me? It doesn't matter. I still put more people on, and
- 16:08that's what it is. And we do the same thing. But by that
- 16:11token, I am not going to sit here and fight for access so I
- 16:17can be a commercial to these scenes now I will. You know, today
- 16:19we're gonna distress Loki and in the future we might get back to doing you
- 16:23know views where it's a more centered show. But at the same time,
- 16:26we're just you know, like, okay, we gotta chick out our news.
- 16:30No, we're not going to kill ourselves before could we used to kill
- 16:33ourselves with all this in depth? And somehow I'll just be honest, I
- 16:37don't feel like these shows deserve that, like, you know, a lot.
- 16:41Wow. Based on what I read today in the Hollywood Reporter about how
- 16:45Marvel was doing things basically throwing one hundred and sixty five million dollar buckets of
- 16:49money at the problem and hoping something works out. Instead of just you know,
- 16:53paying the rights and doing shit the right way. I mean, yeah,
- 16:57I mean speaking of news to talk about you know, since we Yeah,
- 17:00that's pretty much that, you know, like that is the thing there
- 17:03is. There's a lot of things that we at the combat in order to
- 17:07put this show out, in order to bring you what we bring, and
- 17:12sometimes I have to think about is it worth it or not? You know,
- 17:15and especially recently, like when my father passed, it made me put
- 17:18everything into perspective. And it was a lot of like whammies in a row
- 17:23where a lot of people are like nah, nah nah, and I was
- 17:26like, hold on, fam you know the fuck I am. And I
- 17:29really had to say that to certain people. And I'm gonna say this right
- 17:32now. I'll shout out to the people at Apple because me and them got
- 17:33into it, you know, straight up, and then we cleared it up
- 17:37and we all good. And I want to give them a second right now
- 17:41because they sent me the first. I can't even talk about much of it
- 17:45because they're you know, it's really coming out soon. Yeah, but it's
- 17:48just more like you know, I think the social embargoes up, but no
- 17:51reviews, so I won't even say much about it, But Monarch Legacy of
- 17:55Monsters. It's the news show on Apple from the God's Zilla universe, and
- 18:00it comes right off the Godzilla films. It features shots and scenes from the
- 18:04Godzilla films. I mean it play much takes place after Godzilla and Godzilla versus
- 18:11Ten Kong. I think it's pretty much up the time, and I've seen
- 18:15four or five episodes. There's like eight episodes so far. I think I'm
- 18:18seeing four of them. I'm loving it all right, you know, let
- 18:22me just say this series though, like, no, that's just serious series.
- 18:26But like I feel like everything is like six episodes, eight episodes.
- 18:30I don't need more than that. You don't need it's done well then you
- 18:33probably don't know you want you need more. And we'll talk about Loki in
- 18:37a second. And this no, do you barely need that. That is
- 18:41the problem, and people there a few things I will talk about with that,
- 18:45But Monarch Legacy of Monster is really dope. Once it drops. I
- 18:49think they're doing a premiere at New York Comic Con for the first episode.
- 18:53If you got Apple TV, Apple TV got a million different fire ass shows
- 18:59that no one will and because you need to pay it's just another dollars to
- 19:04doughnuts they got. You know, they're killing everyone else. It's just they
- 19:08don't have the right marketing behind it. And I think this one might be
- 19:11one of them that will help them because this is really geek oriented and I
- 19:15you know, like and it's a brand where I don't think they've had that,
- 19:18Like they had C which was a really dope show, but it was
- 19:21like an unknown But it's an unknown brand, you know, it's a new
- 19:23I P. While this is a you know, this grows. So I
- 19:27think this is gonna draw men. Kurt Kurt Russell and his son played the
- 19:32same character in it. Yes, it's dope. That's really dope. I
- 19:36really love how they're doing that. You know. I love Kurt Russell's son
- 19:37and I love Kurt. So look Kurt russell son, you know John walking
- 19:45out, baby, walk it out, get out. He's such a man,
- 19:52He's the man. Yeah. I can't wait for all with that Thunderbolts,
- 19:56Like, who are you? I'm gonna touch a dormalogic. Yeah,
- 20:00man, you know he gonna add up in Thunderbolts. Oh my god,
- 20:03he's gonna be adding up. But yeah, on that, speaking of Thunderballs
- 20:07and everything else, Marvel and what we were just talking about, you know,
- 20:10with shows having long run legs. First, I want to give a
- 20:12big bid shout out to my brother Mellow Brown. Check out Bear Mellow is
- 20:19his name on YouTube. Make sure you follow his channel, hit that subscribe
- 20:23button, all that good stuff. He has his first in a series,
- 20:27a breakdown of pilot episodes, because you know, Bear Mellow Mellow Brown is
- 20:33you know, a quite successful w GA rider and soon to be showrunner,
- 20:40so you know, my man's doing his big things out there, and so
- 20:42to help other people get into the business, he's doing a series of YouTube
- 20:47videos where he'll be breaking down anime pilots and showing how they're use such ill
- 20:52techniques that a lot of Western pilots don't use and show how those can be
- 20:57applied to Western pilots so that way, you know, you can write a
- 21:00better pilot. His first one is on this show Blue Period, which is
- 21:04one of the few animes that I've watched, and Blue Period's pilot is like
- 21:10one of those fuck you you know pilots, but it's just like fuck you
- 21:12for writing this dope shit. You know, how could you write this incredible
- 21:17and direct. Everything about Blue Periods pilot, it's just perfection, and Mellow
- 21:22breaks down widse perfection and talking about time. Blue period is thirty minutes long,
- 21:29you know what I mean, And it's doesn't need time, all right,
- 21:33so check that out. And then I'm deep on going about time,
- 21:37right because make sure you follow Bear Mellow on YouTube and watch that. And
- 21:41then getting to time, we get into Loki, right, which season two
- 21:48just drop. Episode one is out. By the time you see this or
- 21:52hear this, episode two will probably be out. I personally enjoyed the first
- 21:59episode, right. I thoroughly enjoyed the first episode. There's all the characters
- 22:02I love Loki. Moby is h B fifty two, B fifty seven.
- 22:07You know he's yelling out shit be fifty seven, right, she's fifty seven
- 22:12B fifty two is the group I know? Yeah, all you know all
- 22:17the whole trappings the TVA were back in at all that, right. I
- 22:21also felt like the first episode was a big waste B fifteen sorry all right?
- 22:26They waste the time, yes, and I'll explain why. A big
- 22:33waste of time, right, and and really a and you see there was
- 22:37a character I didn't mention right Now criminally negligent in its use of Sylvie Okay,
- 22:45who's the heart and the soul of the first season and shows up in
- 22:48a basically an after credit scene when we don't get to see any of her
- 22:52reaction to all the events that are driving this episode to the big event.
- 22:56We don't get to see her reaction or her emotion praps. We'll get to
- 23:00see it in episode two, but it doesn't mean it doesn't does not bode
- 23:03well for time right once again, because you have a whole forty five minutes
- 23:11of time that you could have devoted because we only have so many episodes.
- 23:15Again, right, we only have so many episodes, So it's all right,
- 23:19So what you did devote to in this episode? Right? Loki starts
- 23:23off being in fear of King and knowing that Kane is trumming. Right.
- 23:27Loki ends the episode being in fear of King and knowing that kanets prumming and
- 23:33looking he wants to find Sylvie. He starts episode wanting to find Sylvie,
- 23:37ends this episode wanting to find Sylvie. B fifteen starts the episode knowing that
- 23:41the timeline is split and that that's how it should be, and she needs
- 23:45to find Sylvie. Ends the episode knowing the timeline is split, needs to
- 23:51find Sylvie. Mobius starts the episode same way, knows the timeline Split needs
- 23:55to find Silvie, needs to find Loki. Ends episode knows the timeline of
- 23:56Split needs to find Sylvie. He needs to find Loki found then, okay
- 24:02the mission of commons? Wow, is that your point? Let me let
- 24:07me keep going. I'm not done yet, right, Okay, We're introduced
- 24:11to a new character who's you know, basically provides a mcgufferin for this episode
- 24:15where they have to do a bunch of things a problem that was only introduced
- 24:21in this episode fixing low key s time jumping thing and solved in this episode.
- 24:26It wasn't carried over from the last season. That why didn't that happen
- 24:29to Sylvie? That's another question that probably won't be answered. And that is
- 24:33my biggest thing about this episode, and I'll finish with that, is that
- 24:36none of this will matter. They're not going to go back to that mcguffin.
- 24:40It's a pointless mcguffin. You know, why would you go back to
- 24:42that? Because we already know the timeline is split and it and the mcguffin
- 24:48didn't fix the timeline being split. The timeline was still being split, and
- 24:51tv A just needed to put the shields down so he can power up the
- 24:53thing to make sure that the thing can handle the timeline being split. But
- 24:56the timeline will still be split. Yeah, the lo which will never be
- 25:00referenced again because why would it need to be. And that was my problem
- 25:04with this episode. I felt like no one moved and the most important character,
- 25:10Sylvie, isn't even featured. So it doesn't bode well when you only
- 25:15have so many episodes to waste so much time on a mcguffin, that won't
- 25:19matter that and then you don't focus anything on the main character. And don't
- 25:26get me wrong, Okay, it's fun. You know, it's witty,
- 25:33it's got all the things you missed. See dude, jet Stee, Oh,
- 25:36Moby is being you know, it's fucking on oncen't eating up scenery and
- 25:40you know, I mean my man is saying body and he's you know,
- 25:42and he's fearing for his life and he's like he's selling came better than man
- 25:48or anything else. Absolutely, absolutely, but that. But we knew all
- 25:52this and he was already there and I don't need you to have a whole
- 25:56season's progression, but I need this see where you're going in this episode.
- 26:00I saw nothing because no one made a move that they weren't already making.
- 26:08No new problems were introduced, no new you know, or they weren't solved
- 26:12in this episode. Well, according to you, nothing A lot of stuff
- 26:18didn't get addressed or solved. I mean you said people didn't move, so
- 26:22there were a lot of things not solved. No besides, but those things
- 26:26all but that's what I'm saying. All that was from last season. All
- 26:29those characters were already on that path. Yeah, nothing new was introduced to
- 26:33their paths to made them change their point to like to reassess things, to
- 26:37think about things differently, to be like, maybe I shouldn't go on this
- 26:41path. Everyone's passes though the exact same that they were on last season.
- 26:45And then we had a mcguffin episode where they had to solve a problem that
- 26:48won't matter next week, right, and that So I was gonna say,
- 26:52basically, your I mean, your feedback is very sound and it's logical,
- 26:56and when you're talking about story, future concept and you know the reason like
- 27:04that, what you're saying makes perfect sense when you're looking at it from a
- 27:08pure entertainment standpoint. I think it hit the mark, like, yes,
- 27:11I did enjoy I greatly enjoyed that. Greatly enjoyed it. Now that was
- 27:15separate from everything you said. Then once I apply all that, I'm like,
- 27:19yeah, well, you know, we don't have much time for y'all
- 27:22to be doing nothing. You only have six episodes, and this is earned
- 27:30episode one. Like critis saw the first four. Oh god, oh god,
- 27:36this moon all over again. Oh my god, I was, you
- 27:40know, And that's where I go back to, like, yeah, certain
- 27:42certain series, noah, don't have to be. It's also like when you
- 27:47when it's like you could use more time. I guess I feel like this
- 27:49is one of the ones that maybe needs it, but no, because they're
- 27:52wasting it. They would waste no matter what. They don't waste no,
- 27:56because that's the thing. It's like when you waste. If you have more,
- 28:00gonna waste more because if you have less, you're gonna use less because
- 28:03you know, I got less, and this is all like, but they
- 28:06got less and they still wasted or what was? Because that's what that's what
- 28:08it ain't got shipped to say, and that's my worry. And this is
- 28:11like, y'all because like we we did not see those first four episodes that
- 28:15some criticis. But like when I saw the first four or Moonnight and I
- 28:19knew there was only six, it was the same thing. I was like,
- 28:22ain't no way, you know, I saw the first four so much,
- 28:26and I was, yeah, me and time Town were just like we
- 28:29didn't want to ruin it for y'all and everything. But I was like,
- 28:30yo, there's no way. Knowing story structure and stuff, I was like,
- 28:33there's no way. Or if they do, it's a miracle, you
- 28:37know, if they pull this together. That makes sense from your review a
- 28:41critical standpoint, because it's like if you're able to show people weeks months ahead
- 28:47of times seventy eight percent of the series and it's not enough to give away
- 28:55or like give you real full contents of what's going on, I don't know
- 28:57that's a good or bad thing. No, no, no, my thing.
- 29:00When Moonlight was more so that I knew that seventy eight percent, there
- 29:03was no way in that twenty two percent they could wrap up that seventy eight
- 29:07percent. Logically, I knew it was going to make I knew it would
- 29:11fall flat on his face. And you know, people might disagree with me,
- 29:14but I felt like Moonlight fell flat on its face at the end.
- 29:17I feel like this. I felt like the series does not make sense when
- 29:21you go back and look at it. A lot of things don't hold up
- 29:23to a rewatch, and the director claims they do, but they don't.
- 29:29And that was like my issue because it's a show that should be that that's
- 29:33what they wanted, but they fell flat on their face. And sadly,
- 29:37God damn it. Shout off to Kate heron you know our People's she is
- 29:41not sure running this season and she's not directing. Well. My question to
- 29:47my next comment actually was going to be, could we compare this first episode
- 29:52to last season's first episode, and in terms of what you're saying about introduction
- 29:56of no because last season they had to do so much more work they did,
- 30:03I'm the same. I'm just saying that first episode the first episode of
- 30:07each season, regardless of what work has to be done, Like just from
- 30:11an introductory perspective, that's from a story structured perspective. If you compare the
- 30:15two, where would you where would you feel like we are. Well,
- 30:18that's what I think. I think every start of your season should be like
- 30:22a pilot episode. Now, it's not gonna be as good as your pilot,
- 30:26because pilots are, you know, incredibly hard and incredibly difficult, and
- 30:29you've already established the world all that. The season one pilot episode was pretty
- 30:33damn good. It's incredibly good, you know, because it had a lot
- 30:37of work to do. It had all the TV to introduce all these new
- 30:41characters. But you can argue that season two also has a lot of work
- 30:45to do. Sure, there's stuff that's been established and you're just continuing or
- 30:48hopefully continuing that through line. But my thing is you are now having to
- 30:52grab all those same people from almost two years ago back into the fold.
- 30:56As number one number two, you still have to grab new people. You're
- 31:00combating against very bad negative reviews of the last two big time quote unquote Disney
- 31:07plus shows, Marvel shows like if we Be if We keep it a buck
- 31:11right now, Like they're not at the highest level right now, no at
- 31:15all, understand And that's why. So this did have a lot of work
- 31:19to do, and I don't know accomplished that to what you're saying, but
- 31:22it was entertaining. It was entertaining, but it was one of the things.
- 31:26One thing it doesn't have to do is establish the world, because this
- 31:30thing doesn't. If you did not watch season one, you're completely lost in
- 31:33the story, you know. So you are already watched that quick. You
- 31:37know it ain't gonna do it. You know you're gonna watch season one,
- 31:41you know. And that's and they know that because they have it's all right
- 31:45there. Not only you're gonna watch season one if you have to, you're
- 31:48gonna watch pretty much all leading up to it, you know, the MCU.
- 31:51So because it's all right there, and you can always do it.
- 31:53If you're watching this on Disney Plus, then you can watch it, so
- 31:56they don't have to do that work. So and that was my I felt
- 32:00like there wasn't much work done in this episode other than being entertaining, other
- 32:04than like quips and that Marvel shit that gets away with not having a story.
- 32:10I have a question though, that what you're saying made me start thinking,
- 32:14like, are we at that nexus point? To use a Marvel term,
- 32:16are we at the nexus point where you've if you have no insight into
- 32:22the Marvel universe that you can't jump in, Like, are we at that
- 32:29point where it's just like, I mean, and I'm not talking, I
- 32:30mean, obviously they're they're gonna bring in they're bringing new cavacters, they're bringing
- 32:34new actors to replay those caacters. But it's like, if you did not
- 32:37watch the first twelve fifteen years of the MCU and you start now, can
- 32:44can it be done? Is it possible? Are you going to be lost?
- 32:46Can you? And I might even talking about catching up. I'm not
- 32:47talking about going back. I'm starting now as someone who doesn't know shit.
- 32:52Am I gonna be all right? Well, let's say you started on Doctor
- 32:55Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is a film that really says,
- 33:00fun what happened in one division? Well, actually it doesn't in one way
- 33:04because Wanda is a villain at the end of one division, and the film
- 33:07says she's a villain. But whatever. That's a really strange film to start
- 33:12on. Okay, but I understanding hard I wouldn't. Okay, but I'm
- 33:15saying right now, you know you're in the think of shit, so you're
- 33:17gonna have to start off for craziness. So if you start on that,
- 33:21it explains Wanda's the villain. This dude's trying to fix the multiverse boom.
- 33:25And you can watch that movie and enjoy it. Mark, That's the thing.
- 33:28That's what Marvel is exceptionally good at. You can watch any of these
- 33:31things by themselves and get for the most part, at least would you understand
- 33:38you don't need to understand all that. That's the thing. Like you can
- 33:43watch Spider Man No Way Home having never seen any of the other Spider Man
- 33:47if you like, and if you've seen the Spider Man movies before that,
- 33:52you would have all those nostalgia hits and all that. And if you've never
- 33:54seen Tom Holland it wouldn't matter. But if you didn't, and that's my
- 33:59question, like if you did, like, are we at is Marvel?
- 34:01I mean, it's that's just mean. It's like all these movies, the
- 34:07better ones especially, can be enjoyed. Like people saw A Man that was
- 34:09their first Marvel movie, that third and Man and people, you know,
- 34:13people who enjoyed and enjoyed it. People who didn't didn't. You know,
- 34:16I thought it was cool. Yeah I didn't think it was like, you
- 34:20know, I'm not in a rush to watch it again, you know,
- 34:22but I know people who enjoyed it, you know what I mean. So
- 34:27it's like it's like this the first episode of Lukie I thought was like enjoyable
- 34:31but also a bid waste to lesson. But I think if you jumped in
- 34:35right now, I mean, you probably need to watch Loki season one,
- 34:37but I don't think you need to watch much more than that to come.
- 34:42Yeah, and you know, because Loki is its own series, Like it
- 34:45starts off and and explains everything that went on before that. Yeah, that's
- 34:47true. And then throughout the series, especially through season one, it explains
- 34:51the history of Loki. You know, he gets to watch the film of
- 34:53his life. You get caught up on a lot of you know, his
- 34:57history through the MCU through you know, pretty good storytelling, even though that
- 35:01film shit was like you know, that wasn't easy. Like let's have them
- 35:05watch your you know, clip show so you know, catch everyone up.
- 35:07Yeah. Yeah, well, I mean I'm glad we're having this conversation.
- 35:12Be I mean when when when I said, oh, I enjoyed it,
- 35:15and he was just like not like he had a complete opposite reaction For me,
- 35:17I was just like whoa, what why? But then like you said
- 35:22again, but you're also getting in the very also, but that's a way
- 35:25that a lot of that certain people may not be looking at it. It
- 35:29wasn't even like that though with this. When I watched the episode, I
- 35:30was like, that was great, you know, very enjoyed, but funny.
- 35:32Oh man. I went to sleep and I woke up the morning and
- 35:35I was like, yo, you thought about it. I was think,
- 35:37oh, did anything happen in that joint? Like consequent I mean Loki got
- 35:40pulled out of being time sleeping? Yeah, but that was creating in that
- 35:44joint, ye, And Sylvie didn't need to get that, but she went
- 35:47through the same ship allegedly like and I got to see keithway Khan, so
- 35:52hey did dad from everything we were all want and you know, a short
- 35:55round from Minana Dnes But and Casey's back, know, so you're like,
- 36:00oh Casey, you know, and it's but that's what I mean. I
- 36:06don't give it. Damn. He's funny. But you know I had enough
- 36:08Casey, Like I didn't need to see him in this episode. Who did
- 36:12you miss? Though? Like I've Sylvie, Sylvie, And that's the other
- 36:16part because I also because someone's gonna say that, they're gonna say, oh,
- 36:19Ben, you just wanted to see Sylvie. Is it more than that
- 36:22I mean, or is it just really that's the base one of the base
- 36:24reasons you will. I mean, she's to me, she is the heart.
- 36:28Like whether or not her name is the show is not named Sylvie,
- 36:30but she's about her. She's low, she's as Sylvie, but she's lokey.
- 36:36Yeah, and so she's the heart and you know, and it's their
- 36:38relationship and I get that they're separated right now, and she's doing through her
- 36:43own thing and like maybe season I mean, episode two, you know,
- 36:46will be all Sylvie and I'll be shutting up next week. But yeah,
- 36:53but but you know, right now, I don't know. And like I
- 36:59say, if there's only six, damn, that was like basically two is
- 37:02going to start the strow because one was like I say, no one moved,
- 37:07No one moved. Everyone is at the same point they were. You
- 37:10know, I'm not gonna say it all again, but besides, besides Sylvie,
- 37:14besides Sylvie, because we don't know what she moved around. We know
- 37:16she's in wisconin Kansas, wherever the hell she Yeah, we know she's off
- 37:20that and we know why she's there. You know, she wants to live
- 37:22her life and she never got to enjoyed all right, so we'll see.
- 37:29Like I said, I enjoyed it. It's just this is skinned that was
- 37:36great. It was all okay, let's talk about But the things that did
- 37:40work, like you said, just from even from a pure entertainment perspective,
- 37:45I didn't like them jumping, like using the concept of time actually still doing
- 37:49it right, Like using that concept of talking to somebody in the past and
- 37:54yeah, slowly remembering what they've been told for you know, that's what they
- 37:58did with ob Like I thought that she was cool, you know, like
- 38:00I said, things that get written or broken that in the future of the
- 38:04past you see the effects of it. You know. That reminds me a
- 38:07lot of games and stuff. And like you said, it's been on an
- 38:08older Bill and Ted. Bill and Ted did that the best. Like at
- 38:12one point he's like, remember to drop a trash can on this guy's head,
- 38:15and the dude's like what, And then a trash can drops on the
- 38:16guy's head because he's like, you know, just remember to do this later.
- 38:20We got to go back in a time machine and then drop a trash
- 38:22can on this guy's head and then that's not played. Feel like great comedicy
- 38:28effect. I love she like that because it's clever. It's not just a
- 38:31regular joke. It's also like, hey, let's use let's throw some physics
- 38:34in there and then the joke and all that shit. Great, that worked,
- 38:37you know, No, like I said, it was wildly entertaining.
- 38:42It just doesn't. It doesn't bode well, that's all I'm saying, Like
- 38:46like five more you know, minutes, and I even know Miss Minnies was
- 38:52like what is she? We still know what quite what she is because apparently
- 38:55she's not just a holowground they because movies and them that movie's a little and
- 39:00like, oh, don't trust her. She was there with yeah, because
- 39:04she's there with he who remains. She knew all this was gonna going to
- 39:07happen, is what he's saying. She was there with him, so she
- 39:10already was she already knew what was at it? Or are we gonna see
- 39:14her? They're gonna forget about her too? Oh no, no about the
- 39:16like we're never gonna hear about the loom ever again? You think would you
- 39:19fuck around and find out it's gonna happen. Somebody's gonna wuck around and find
- 39:22out what miss minutes. But the loom I doubt ever gets mentioned it.
- 39:27I almost say I want to put money on that, but I ain't.
- 39:30That's I think I'm personally trying to understand the fifteenth k I'm trying to understand
- 39:35her arc. Like all she kept saying was, oh, you know the
- 39:37light the world is different now, we gotta move different now, And I'm
- 39:40cool, But then what is she She's just an assistant to Loki and Sylvie's
- 39:46story, like she just simply supporting that it is. Does she have her
- 39:50own story? That's what if anything? Like like out of the entertain side.
- 39:53That's one of the things that bothers me because it doesn't feel like like
- 39:57what's Like I'm glad they're giving her a more screen time obviously, but it's
- 40:00just like, what are they gonna do with her? Like, okay,
- 40:04be fifteen now you got cut out your kneel, you're out the matrix?
- 40:07Now what that's how they playing That's that's the at least in the first episode,
- 40:13that's kind of how they're playing her. And I'm like, Okay,
- 40:15now what y'all gonna do with her. She's gonna do some shit, or
- 40:16we're just she's just gonna be a sideline character. I don't know, we'll
- 40:24find out. I read one review from someone who's seen the first four and
- 40:29they said Sylvia is wildly underwritten. So, like I said, after seen
- 40:34the first episode where she's barely in it, now I was like, yeah,
- 40:36I don't. I don't spend much. And then you know, if
- 40:38if Sylvie ain't getting no love, be better, you know, crazy,
- 40:43because be better standing in line, because the whole point of the whole first
- 40:47season was Sylvie, Like all roads lead to that one. So I don't
- 40:53under like I would give them. The only thing I can think of that
- 40:57was a sense was like, oh this is and it's a cheap shot,
- 41:00but this is the carrot we're dangling in front of you. We all know
- 41:01you want to know what's happening with Sylvie, so you gotta follow this white
- 41:05rabbit all the way to the end of forty five minutes and just to find
- 41:07out that she's in Kansas. So yeah, watching this episode because we want
- 41:12to do a McDonald's you know, commercial at some point in the future.
- 41:16But I will say that that that marketing Tyn was Again, this is the
- 41:20marketing major in me that that marketing time was pretty cool, even though I
- 41:22don't know if it really went anywhere, but the marketing Tyn. They have
- 41:24a McDonald's where they had like all the different types of shows including Loki that
- 41:29incorporated McDonald's to it. They even had Coming to America with McDonald's and shit
- 41:32like that. So I thought, I thought that shit was fired. Like,
- 41:35Okay, y'all given, y'all given, y'all given, y'all giving the
- 41:37nods and flowers to the other people who's really like, you know, honoring
- 41:40y'all legacy too, So mm hmm whatever, whatever. I don't know.
- 41:46I sixen. Yeah, I'm still in it. I'm still in it.
- 41:52I'm still in it. I mean, I'm going to be in it.
- 41:53This is the Marvels. Like we weren't here for all, you know,
- 41:57for Secret Invasion Ride. I think I think we didn't record, but I
- 42:00wasn't. No, I was here. I mean I watched it all.
- 42:04Don't get me wrong. I'm talking about we didn't record and that she was
- 42:06asked like, I mean, you know, you just talk about not calling
- 42:07things ass but it was he scroll Social Club and Anti scroll all of them,
- 42:16and okay, that's not okay, like not to call things to ask,
- 42:20but like my one, I felt like nothing happened. And then the
- 42:23biggest things that happened in that show I feel like will not be referenced.
- 42:28I mean, they're not gonna be referenced here because Loki is in some interdimensional
- 42:30ship. But at the end of that show, the President of the United
- 42:32States of America basically just declared war on all alien races, not just the
- 42:37strolls. He said, any alien murdered them, put them. And that's
- 42:42asked guardians, Like you know, that's a lot, and there's like asked
- 42:45guardians in Norway. But then there's also like a celestial in the ocean somewhere
- 42:49or that's supposed to get touched its four years. It's supposed to be the
- 42:53big story in Armor Wars. Okay, so that's they actually addressed the hand
- 43:00because I think all awards are going to be like people trying to salvage the
- 43:04celestial tech from the celestial So we'll see. But yeah, I don't know
- 43:10if that, you know, kill all the aliens are going to get referenced
- 43:14again. I just don't. And that was the most interesting thing at that
- 43:17show. So that's all, you know, that was my part of that,
- 43:20Like that was the most interesting thing. Other than that, I don't
- 43:22feel like anything happened. I feel like a lot of these things are waiting
- 43:24again for something to happen that is never going to happen. News came out
- 43:29today that Marvel quietly fired the what they weren't even called showrunners thanks to the
- 43:35new WGA deal. Now Marvel is going to put show runners on the rounds.
- 43:38That that's the new WGA deal at work. Shout out to see all
- 43:43great work there. So yeah, Daredevil needs new showrunners. I just feel
- 43:50like I think I think Marvel's like creating all these different shows in vacuums,
- 43:58and I think that might be a problem. That's what the report, the
- 44:00Hollywood Reporter report said but essentially expressed that things were being created in the vacuum.
- 44:06That's why I said earlier when we were speaking just they were literally just
- 44:09throwing money at the problem, and it's like, all right, yes,
- 44:12create something, and you know, damned to you know, planning and this
- 44:16and that, like it was giving DCEU, oh not DCU and I current
- 44:21DCU, but DC it was giving that for a while. I was just
- 44:23like, what's going on? It just feels like you're just doing anything because
- 44:28it's like, you know, you know, it's kind of like, you
- 44:30know, someone knows they're gonna win no matter what, so they kind of
- 44:34the effort's not exactly all the way there. It's you know, they won
- 44:37two championships. It's hard to win that third. You know, it's mad
- 44:42hard to win that third. You know, it's mad hard to win one.
- 44:45But then when you win to you know, it's like everyone's done it
- 44:47for you and you get complacent. That's when Shack got fat. You know,
- 44:51Shack was super fat on that third championship, you know, and you
- 44:55know that that's why it was the last one for the Bulls. I mean,
- 44:58the Bulls did's twice, but you know, the second time that was
- 45:00it. Somehow this is going to get back to Shack. We're only a
- 45:02few degrees of separations. Hey, it's almost like it's almost basketball season.
- 45:09Baby got Lakers. Shout out saw Cameron and Mace two on because they are
- 45:16doing it. That has become my favorite show over the last year and big
- 45:20inspiration to me as well, So shout out to them. They're doing it.
- 45:23Love that ship. I watch it every morning now. Yeah. Yeah,
- 45:25so just back to just to finish up with Loki, like we're still
- 45:30in it. I'm I am concerned based on I said. I've been hearing
- 45:35mixed reviews from people who saw the first four. I still am hopeful because
- 45:38I still have fun and I'm going to let that be the catalyst to give
- 45:43me the energy to keep going. You know what I'm saying, Like,
- 45:45but what you said was not wrong. What you said was very very on
- 45:49point, and I think it, you know, I think this is another
- 45:54fat shot, you know instance where it's like they are coasting on what came
- 45:59before. You know, they're coasting on Owen Wilson and why can I not
- 46:04remember Loki's at hitleson Tom Hidlson. Yeah, they're coasting on knowing how great
- 46:09these people are these roles. You know, is that going to be the
- 46:15new like literary test name that you created, the fat shock test? Like
- 46:22that's when you that's when you've been winning too long, You've been You've been
- 46:25doing it the way too long. Your chat looking good today. Shout out
- 46:29to chat Man. I saw him on TV today that man is slimming up
- 46:31brou because he's been putting on some pounds doing that host and that boy he
- 46:36was looking good today. That dude is in shape. What about your girl?
- 46:39We haven't seen her googling bout the raw ravana. Yeah, it's a
- 46:44damn shame you haven't seen her. You heard her voice, see what I'm
- 46:49saying, what a waste? The biggest I mean the biggest in terms of
- 46:52the real life implications. But what's going on with this whole Jonathan Majors thing?
- 46:58Mm, Like, we haven't told nothing about that about and right now,
- 47:01I just feel like it's it's like that that news cycle is dead now.
- 47:05I feel like no one can like people people care, But I just
- 47:08feel like it happens this way all the time. Something major happens that it's
- 47:13just like you really should be paying attention to it, and then it just
- 47:15disappears into the ether, right like, because it's gonna come up again,
- 47:20like it's you know, it's going to continue to be hang like, what's
- 47:22happening. I'm in the trial still on going, That's what FA said.
- 47:25He's like, you know, we're not doing anything. And based on that,
- 47:30I believe that Disney has done their research and hired their super detectives and
- 47:34they figured it out good. They think they're good because otherwise they would have
- 47:37fired this Negro ain't no way so because he doesn't he appear what I mean,
- 47:43besides his image, doesn't he appear in this? What this niggas the
- 47:45major villain heavily. I remember Richter Aka that he filmed a lot for this.
- 47:54Oh, he is the main antagonist of this of this season. You
- 47:58know we are not seeing him yet, but yeah, Vitor Tommy I think
- 48:01will be all over the second episode and throughout it, you know, from
- 48:05then on, and and you know everyone's guessing that it's going to end with
- 48:09more Kings or different you know, variations. But yeah, this is now.
- 48:15That is one thing people have said that, you know, maybe they
- 48:16recast them by the end of this, and I doubt it. I just
- 48:19don't think that's how it's going down. I think they're committed to Jonathan Major's
- 48:22they are committed. The thing is happening in context and timeline context to like
- 48:28the events after Man, cause you remember at the end of ant Man they
- 48:30had that whole thing where it was a Chilean king so like they was already
- 48:34loose like this, that's my think. I mean, I've said that already,
- 48:38like ant Man doesn't really see it made sense with the first season a
- 48:42Loki, yeah, you know, And so that's my problem. It's just
- 48:45like with Doctor Trainy, it feels like these things are being made in these
- 48:47vacuums where people are like they're trying to connect it after it's over, but
- 48:52it doesn't really connect. So it's like, fuck it. You know,
- 48:54this this came the conqueror who has been trapped became the conqueror is the one
- 49:00that we're worried about. And at the end of Loki, all of the
- 49:02canes were freed, so why is this one trapped? And this one was
- 49:07trapped by the other canes? So when did they trap him when they weren't
- 49:12even in existence until five minutes ago. I mean, but if it,
- 49:19you know, fuck it, you know, because we're moving on and now
- 49:21we're there'll probably be another kinge to conqueror because that one was black anyway,
- 49:24So I don't know, you know, it sounds so exasperated. It's like
- 49:30this shit could be dope. And the other thing with Jonathan Matrix is I
- 49:34feel like the court of public opinion, especially you know, black people and
- 49:38especially black women. Well not all, but some have. I think the
- 49:43court of public opinion right now is against him. So I don't think it
- 49:45matters what Marvel does or how to score case turns out. I think people
- 49:50view him as a woman beater, and that's just how it's going down.
- 49:53And I don't know if that's right, because like from what I've seen in
- 49:57the research, it seems like I don't know if yeah, I don't know,
- 50:00you know, I don't know, seems kind of weird on both ends.
- 50:05Honestly. Over the summer, there was so much, yeah, it
- 50:10was, there was a lot of there was a lot of shakiness introduced.
- 50:15And that's what I'm saying when you say, like a lot of people are
- 50:16against them, I'm like, well, it's not as vocal as I'm not
- 50:20saying that people still not against it, it's this doesn't feel as vocal as
- 50:22it was. And that's why I'm like, I don't understand. I mean,
- 50:24I understand why, that's how media and that's how influence works, but
- 50:28like, yeah, for stuff to kind of just die down when it was
- 50:30like such a huge deal, like well, there's no more news, and
- 50:35it's trying to pop back up when the case goes to court, you know,
- 50:37officially, because every time it goes to court and keeps getting pushed back
- 50:40for something or this happens. So there hasn't been anything for people to feed
- 50:44on. It's not like Johnny Depp, you know, when he was in
- 50:46court every day and there's news and it's like, oh shit, revelations and
- 50:50all that. So that's why people were feeding on that. Trust. If
- 50:52it gets into an ugly court case like or even close to anything like the
- 50:57Depth, where the information comes out and shit comes out, it's gonna be
- 51:00all over everything because this man's a superstar and the MSCU is huge, and
- 51:05so it's like once again that negativity clitch thing. People are gonna use this
- 51:09to become stars themselves. So many people fed into that Johnny dep trial just
- 51:14to say anything, and usually it was horrible, negative shit, and you
- 51:17know, and they became little stars themselves. So you know, and we
- 51:22live in a world where people don't care about shame or anything, so people
- 51:24will do anything, you know, for the click. And I'm just like,
- 51:30I like Jonathan Major and after I don't know, him personally. I've
- 51:32never met the man. I don't you know, I don't know. It
- 51:35could be a woman beater, could not. Everything seems suspect. It seems
- 51:37suspect on his size. On the Huser's side, I don't know, and
- 51:43I wasn't there. I also know that most Hollywood drum and we also accepted
- 51:51all you know, or that we don't, but you know, the industry
- 51:54will accept it from white people a lot more, and you go on and
- 52:00watch their movies. Tom Cruise is one of my favorites. I fucking loved
- 52:02the Mission of Possible. This Nigga's a commercial for Scientology, which is one
- 52:07of the you know up there with the I mean the Catholic Church, I
- 52:09mean all the ships. You know, it's like, you know, it
- 52:14becomes one of those things like who do you not support? Who do I
- 52:16just find out today was like a super right winger and you know, believed
- 52:20in Jordan Peterson and all this kind of ship made Michelson like, yeah,
- 52:29he looks like I know he's sorry, but you know it's no shots.
- 52:35I mean, you got the Nazi face bright, you know, and I'm
- 52:40handhim when he's rocking the Nazi haircuts. You know what you heard me the
- 52:46Nazi face, Like he looks like he could play a Nazi, you know
- 52:51what I mean? Like I would not like Mad Michleson is a Nazi.
- 52:53It's not a stretch. You're like, yeah, that's a good role for
- 52:55him. I don't think he's ever coming on this show. That's I don't
- 53:00really ask you, you know if if that's true about him, funk out
- 53:04of here. I don't care, Like, yeah, you know, I
- 53:07mean you comic con be like, you know what you look like, sir,
- 53:09Like, no, I'm just saying to be a good role for you.
- 53:17As if y'all didn't believe us before when we said we're very honest on
- 53:22this show. Its true. I mean like, sorry, Mad. You
- 53:25know, you're also getting caught in that cross fire of working on Hannibal,
- 53:30which is you know, produced by you know, Brian Fuller, who is
- 53:34you know? Yeah, you know there's core cases going on these days.
- 53:37There's a lot going on out here. I don't know who to believe anymore.
- 53:45We got to move on, move on. This is something that I
- 53:50wanted to mention when you talked about Mellow. I want to also shout out
- 53:53our brother Kimsonian. Okay, oh yes, thank you, super super super
- 54:00because his short action, his short film Live Action Exposure, a film by
- 54:07Kimson Albert is an official selection at Urban World and it's going to be available
- 54:14for It's gonna be at screening on November fourth at seven thirty pm at AMC
- 54:19thirty fourth in New York City. It's going to be streamed at the Urban
- 54:23World Film Festival. I am so freaking proud of my boy, mister Kimstonian
- 54:30an animation extraordinary by the way. Okay, Like he's been behind the teams
- 54:36of I mean a cartoon network like Bread and Butter right there. But like
- 54:38I just love the fact that I've known him for so long now, and
- 54:43you've known him longer, but I've known him for so long now, and
- 54:45like just to see all the different things he's gotten to do in his life
- 54:47and all the progression and stuff like that, and same like like even looking
- 54:51at people like you and everyone else, just like myself, like all the
- 54:53things that you just wouldn't didn't even come to mind ten years ago whatever,
- 54:58and now you're doing it. Like, so salute to you, Kimsonian.
- 55:01Very proud, so tight. I will be seeing your film, and I
- 55:05also definitely encourage everyone who is in the New York City area to go see
- 55:08it again. I said it was on November fourth, seven thirty pm at
- 55:15the AMC thirty fourth. I just had to look and I'm working that night,
- 55:20so I will not be Yeah, that's why I just checked it.
- 55:22And I'm tight we've covered Urban World before. That's actually where I met Kofebo.
- 55:28Nice. Yeah, I will not be there because unfortunately I after work
- 55:31that night. But Kimson, I'll definitely check it as soon as it comes
- 55:35to streaming or you hit me with that copy so I can pete it myself.
- 55:37But you know, congrats to you, very big things doing. And
- 55:42uh, before we get out of here, speaking of some other big things,
- 55:45you know, Like we said, this week is New York Comic Con.
- 55:47You can catch us there, but next week is Howard home Coming a
- 55:53HU, you know, and we will be in the house. I'm actually
- 55:58touching down in DC Wednesday night, and I'll be there for Thursday, October
- 56:04nineteenth. Oh oh, because as you know, Tatiana and I will be
- 56:09at the nm H AAC. I think I got it right that time close
- 56:15to NMAAHC might the National Museum of African American History and Culture Culture. Okay,
- 56:22I'll mess it up again. That's right, close enough, close enough.
- 56:25We will be there at the Oprah Winfrey stage presenting When They See Us
- 56:30as Heroes, a panel featuring Eve Viewing, Jonathan Gray, Tim Fielder,
- 56:37No not Jonathan Gray. Sorry brother Jonathan, that's my dude, but you
- 56:40ain't on this pan. I missed so much that. I mean, it's
- 56:44the Oprah Theater. We will be on the path. We will be moderating
- 56:50the pan. The worst part is Jonathan listens to the show. He's to
- 56:52be like word and then it is to be like no Jonathan Gales, Yeah,
- 56:57sorry, Tim Fielder and Eve Ewing. Those will be the panelists that
- 57:02we will be posting Esteem panelists and we again super doup excited about that,
- 57:09like obviously honored. We've been talking about this like for almost a year now,
- 57:14or at least alluding to it and then having to talk about it six
- 57:15months before. But like this, this is exciting for many different reasons.
- 57:21I mean, it's the Blacksnian. It's like to be able to be asked
- 57:25to do something like that is humbling, and to also to be recognized for
- 57:29our contribution to the culture is inspiring and humbling at the same time. So
- 57:34and it makes us feel good, like you know, at the end of
- 57:37the day, like not everyone does things for like accolades and awards and stuff,
- 57:40but it's nice when you get them. So and it's nice when you
- 57:44have these opportunities. And you know, similar to what we were talking about
- 57:46before, Like, Yo, we've been doing this, we're professionals. Give
- 57:49us the opportunities because we're gonna kill it. We're gonna kill it every time
- 57:52we've done this. We know what we're doing. And you know, again,
- 57:54just shout and salute to the African American Museum because like this is going
- 58:00to be incredible. And also, Jess a reminder for those who are interested
- 58:04in attending in person, please register. It is free ninety nine. You
- 58:08just got to register. If you can't be there in person but you still
- 58:10want to watch it, there is a streaming option. You still got a
- 58:14register. I think that's the way you're gonna get the link. And if
- 58:16you're going to be there in person, they are actually encouraging everyone to show
- 58:20up in cost play. Oh so dead ass. This is going to be
- 58:23the Four All Nerds Comic Con in DC during Howard home Coming. We want
- 58:28y'all decked out in your cosplay. If you don't want to do the cosplay,
- 58:32that's okay. Make sure you're wearing your comic book a superhero shirt,
- 58:36or you can wear your Four All Nerds thease like we got. We just
- 58:38want to see you there in living color, looking great, beautiful and just
- 58:44representing. And everyone is invited, everyone is welcomed, and I'm just I'm
- 58:50just thrilled. I'm thrilled that is happening. It's almost there. Yeah,
- 58:53October nine to this day, I still can't believe it. It's going to
- 58:57be insane. It's going to be, you know, a beautiful moment in
- 59:00time. And you know, we've worked hard for this and we earn it
- 59:02and we deserve it, and so you know, I'm just grateful. And
- 59:06I did not know that they're actually being cosplay, and that really influences my
- 59:08fit choice. So I'm coming superfly, you know, all right now,
- 59:12I know what I'm doing. Yeah, No, I'm not. Yeah,
- 59:13all of the tidd to come in one thing. No, it's it's no,
- 59:15I'm coming up. They are encouraging cosplay. So I mean, and
- 59:19my thing is like this is pretty monumental anyway, right, like representing for
- 59:22the culture, representing for the fandom, you gotta do it. Oh yeah,
- 59:28And this is like the whole afrofuturism thing is basically what for all nerds
- 59:31is. It's like, I'm gonna talk about this during the panel, but
- 59:35you know, as a DJ, as someone who grew up on hip hop,
- 59:37which I feel is like afrofuturism, Like it's the promise of aftro futurism.
- 59:44It's like George Clinton and Autumn and the Mothership. You know, we're
- 59:47giving this idea and hip hop to me is the promise of it, because
- 59:51it's like this music that comes from using technology in ways that it wasn't meant
- 59:55to be used. And there's a whole other thing that I'll talk more about
- 1:00:00it on the panel. You're gonna have to be there to see it because
- 1:00:01you know, there's a lot going on. It's just gonna be fire.
- 1:00:05And then, like we said, it's also Howard home Coming. I'm touching
- 1:00:08down Wednesday night. Wednesday night, you can catch me at the eighteenth Street
- 1:00:12Lounge. It's fired a newly revamped Eighteenth Street Lounge. Shout out to my
- 1:00:15brother DJ Armageddon, Shout out to the Grandiose Group everybody out there, my
- 1:00:22boy b Miller. Thursday night, I'll be at Park with my man Alamo
- 1:00:27and Big O and shout out to Mark Barnes. You know Park. I
- 1:00:30mean y'all know you know how it's going down Friday night day party. Check
- 1:00:35my Instagram. I can't remember where at some joining in Northeast is gonna be
- 1:00:39insane that this the third fifth annual Hookie Day party. It's crazy. Who's
- 1:00:45going down Saturday? I'm not sure where I'm at yet. And Sunday I'm
- 1:00:49at the Dude Drop In with my brother Harry Hotter and DJ Analyze. That
- 1:00:52shit is gonna be a lass event. I don't really think it's Howard homecoming
- 1:00:55as much, but it's gonna be fire, so you know, yeah,
- 1:01:00Well, I will also be on the ground in the streets and all that
- 1:01:05during homecoming, not telling you all where I'm gonna be. If you're there,
- 1:01:07you're there. If you're not, you're not great, But I am
- 1:01:10going to be celebrating. You definitely got to come to one of them events.
- 1:01:15An amazing alumni. Yeah, we'll see, we'll see. I'm actually
- 1:01:22actually tend to hit up several events. I actually tell that, especially especially
- 1:01:25like the day of TAILGA Saturday, like because there's like always a million events,
- 1:01:30like literally parties and events happening on top of the other. They're all
- 1:01:34overlapping and sometimes get close. So I will be at multiple events. Shout
- 1:01:38out to my man Bobby Patterson who bought the old bar seven. That's gonna
- 1:01:43be popping all weekend. Yeah, it's it's a lot going down U Street,
- 1:01:47gonna be outrageous. We have a Pearl Lounge Saturday night, might be
- 1:01:52up and there for a quid minutes. So yeah, it's it's a lot
- 1:01:54going down. Follow me on Instagram, DJ Ben, I mean you know
- 1:01:58what I mean, me on Instagram to and see my third ship. So
- 1:02:02but that being said, I think, is there anything else that we should
- 1:02:07be mentioning or talking about. I mean, like I said, we Loki
- 1:02:10comes out Thursdays at nine pm, so I know we're gonna be watching that.
- 1:02:15We're probably gonna come back next week. And that's another thing I think,
- 1:02:17like the scheduling of when we do our reviews is gonna be different.
- 1:02:21Than what y'all used to like, yeah, like you know what you say
- 1:02:22again when we talk about busting our ass, like you would get that shit
- 1:02:27right after right or like the next day. And obviously and also that was
- 1:02:30that was helped by you know, us being able to see review review previews.
- 1:02:36Yeah, so you know, if we can't do that, then you
- 1:02:38know, we gotta do it. We gotta do it the hard way,
- 1:02:39right. So, and I think this actually might be helpful for you all
- 1:02:44because as I think about it, like you know, lead the day before,
- 1:02:47so like leading up to the next episode, like that's when it is
- 1:02:51fresh in your mind anyways, but it might be worth you hearing us from
- 1:02:53us a little bit later. And that allows us this information to marinate a
- 1:02:58little bit, allows us to marinate because if I recorded this one, you
- 1:03:01know, the day, the night of, or you know, right after
- 1:03:04I saw it, I would have been like, oh yeah, very in
- 1:03:06trouble. And then I would have been like the next week I would be
- 1:03:07like, you know, people would have been like, but Ben, you
- 1:03:09said joy, but what you said yeah, because like the next week I
- 1:03:14would have been like, especially if it you know, because I've heard the
- 1:03:16second episode, its slow and i've heard another problem I've heard said the same.
- 1:03:22Yeah, and the four episodes i've heard spend a lot of time like
- 1:03:27this one did too much time to me on what Bruce Willis said in Looper,
- 1:03:31when you're talking about time travel, you know, we'll be all here
- 1:03:35they drawing diagrams of straws, and I feel like the first episode was a
- 1:03:38lot of diagrams of straws, and I feel like they're down for a lot
- 1:03:43more diagrams and straws, Like they're like, let's do this because we ain't
- 1:03:45got shit use to talk about. Please, guys, nobody cares. I
- 1:03:50know, nobody cares about about the diagrams. But like you said, we
- 1:03:52just want to see Sylvie and Loki and how they're going to get out whatever
- 1:03:57messes has been created or not. Yeah, all right, yeah, I
- 1:04:03think that's about it. Like we said, catch us at New York Comic
- 1:04:06Con this week, it's going down. You know, we were talking about
- 1:04:11all the things. A lot of comments. Oh right now, you know,
- 1:04:14I ain't been doing comics, ey cop, But shout out to my
- 1:04:16brother Joel, who has been holding Joel is also going to be a New
- 1:04:20York Comic con so yeah, you see, he's been holding out crazy.
- 1:04:24He's been having those comics ye cop videos during out the summer. If you
- 1:04:28see Joel say hello, thank him, all that other stuff give him,
- 1:04:30so he'll be wearing one of the shirts as well, so it'll be easy
- 1:04:32to spot. But he's been killing it, and I just want to shout
- 1:04:36out I have. I haven't been reading too much stuff. I mean I've
- 1:04:40been reading. I'm bullshit. I'm always reading a whole hell a lot of
- 1:04:43things. But you know, new old whatever X Men, Red is still
- 1:04:47in Fuego Alluing and Karen Gillan on Immortal x Men are just doing the Lord's
- 1:04:54work and I just want to shout them both out because those two butts have
- 1:04:57been incredible. Luing also killed it with the first issue of a Mortal thor
- 1:05:01Uh. I think that's about it from the mainstream that I've been reading,
- 1:05:06and that's about all I got time or I remember right now the shout out.
- 1:05:11So yeah, check those out though, because I'm really loving what's going
- 1:05:14on with the whole Mutant saga, just this whole from you know what.
- 1:05:18Oh no, I will shout no, I won't No, I'm gonna keep
- 1:05:21it positive. I'm gonna keep it moving. Yeah, you know, shout
- 1:05:26out to what Hitman did on you know, House of Its Powers. That's
- 1:05:30the first issue of God's that's Hitman's new book. I don't know about That's
- 1:05:32awesome. I don't know. The first issue is like I don't know it.
- 1:05:36And before we go, I also want to give personal shout out to
- 1:05:40Stephanie Williams. Steph I will She has a lot of stuff like that that
- 1:05:44child does not sleep, but particularly I love the big props she got last
- 1:05:48week when she mentioned Strange and Unsung, the all stars of the DC multiverse
- 1:05:55because there is a forward by James gunn Uh you know, I guess the
- 1:05:58head honcho now of DC. You and he he just was posting about it
- 1:06:02like everywhere, and I just really liked that she got that shine and that
- 1:06:06that support. So shout out to you, Steph. And we're gonna see
- 1:06:10Steph at Comic Con too. Most definitely she got a big table. I
- 1:06:13think you know, she'll be sitting there to the big dogs this year.
- 1:06:15And artist ally, artistality is like that, you know, artistality is based
- 1:06:18on popularity, like Tom King holds down this one spot and then I remember
- 1:06:24a couple of years ago, Kry Randolph and them, they were hitting with
- 1:06:29the Magic Book. Jesus is the name slipping me right now, but they
- 1:06:32were hitting with that book, the Urban Magic Book Excellence, killing with that
- 1:06:40ship and they had to slot. Their table was right next to Tom King,
- 1:06:44and I was like, oh, Carr, you feeling good? Yeah?
- 1:06:47Getting that love this year right, He's like, your essence is selling
- 1:06:50through the roof. I think they got an option for a movie all that
- 1:06:54shit, so they you know, they were living right then. Yeah,
- 1:06:57yeah, So see where Cary will be there this year. I think you
- 1:07:00know, I can't wait to see me. I can't wait to see everybody.

- 1:07:04told people this for years. We are easily to approach. Let's say,
- 1:07:08hi, we are not mean. We'll smile. Well. Love taking pictures
- 1:07:12for people. I love hearing that you're a fan of the show. It
- 1:07:15makes my fucking day, mates my week, dog, I promise you.
- 1:07:17I was looking at pictures from old comic cons and those cats who I didn't
- 1:07:21know who came up to me like, yo, I love your show,
- 1:07:23d D. We took a picture, you know, there's cats who I'll
- 1:07:27become friends with through the years just from them saying what up. So,
- 1:07:30you know, be wanting to shot up to my man Tiger billionaire and my
- 1:07:31brother. It's like my dog man. He knows who he is. So
- 1:07:36hopefully I see you there this year and yeah, man, can't wait.

- 1:08:18I got a plan just to play some music, play some video games,
- 1:08:23talk some shit, so might actually do something later to night. I've seen
- 1:08:26how I'm feeling, see if I stay up all night because I'm hype for
- 1:08:29fucking Comic Con and then uh, Spider Man two drops this weekend or next
- 1:08:34weekend, one or the other, I think next weekend game. Yeah,

- 1:09:26the wildly disrespectful comments that I get on our Instagram because my pictures are being
- 1:09:32used as the models for four all nerves dot com and so people love to
- 1:09:36mention my five head and my shirt being too thin, my smile be terrible.
