- 1:53Speaker 3: Maybe not Okay, I do not know.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Give me send a message right now.
- 1:57Speaker 3: And ask please just say like, hey, we're wondering what
- 2:00Speaker 3: to do. We're recording our last show right now.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Oh we're not wondering what to do.
- 2:03Speaker 8: I know what to do.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Just do the show.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Oh what do you mean? We still just do it?
- 2:06Speaker 2: You want to just quit mid mid. I don't understand
- 2:08Speaker 2: what we do different.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Someone tells me, hey, you're gonna die like in the
- 2:11Speaker 3: next thirty minutes, I'd be like, cool, all right, see, yeah,
- 2:15Speaker 3: you just.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Said do the best show ever. Then you blew the whistle,
- 2:17Speaker 2: but yeah, you're all over.
- 2:18Speaker 3: It changed my mind quickly.
- 2:20Speaker 5: Hold on, hey man, it's uh after ten here Ceral time.
- 2:26Speaker 5: I don't know where you are, if you're in Vegas
- 2:27Speaker 5: for the super Bowl yet or not. We are doing
- 2:29Speaker 5: our very last twenty five whistles that we know of.
- 2:32Speaker 5: I'm with all the guys now and they were a
- 2:35Speaker 5: bit shocked. This is our last show unless you have
- 2:38Speaker 5: heard that we're getting renewed at all for any weeks
- 2:42Speaker 5: or for NCAA basketball. If you have any new information,
- 2:45Speaker 5: please let us know. And I'm sitting with them now.
- 2:49Speaker 5: Anything you want to say, Yeah, we need it, man,
- 2:51Speaker 5: we need more episodes.
- 2:53Speaker 6: We're not done yet.
- 2:54Speaker 2: All right, man, talk to you soon.
- 2:56Speaker 8: Thanks.
- 2:57Speaker 2: I won't to have a job. Who was there? Who
- 3:00Speaker 2: was that mister Drapkings was mister oh well, that's cool
- 3:07Speaker 2: for sure?
- 3:07Speaker 3: In Vegas.
- 3:08Speaker 5: It was actually Kevin Lagrette, who was head of iHeartRadio
- 3:11Speaker 5: Sports from Los Angeles.
- 3:13Speaker 2: So we'll see what's up.
- 3:15Speaker 3: I know, I know who he is.
- 3:20Speaker 5: All right, let's go to what's possibly the final tittle tattle?
- 3:22Speaker 5: Oh no, no, no, all right, let's go even do it.
- 3:31Speaker 2: The last tattle. Read's now jumping into it, redoing it.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Never ever does you talk? And now he jumps in.
- 3:44Speaker 2: He's losing it.
- 3:45Speaker 9: We're going crazy. Well, super Bowl weekend it's here. What
- 3:48Speaker 9: is your favorite headline heading into the big game?
- 3:53Speaker 8: Oh?
- 3:53Speaker 3: I got mine?
- 3:54Speaker 5: Well, so the headlines, for example are Taylor Kelsey, Will
- 3:59Speaker 5: Taylor make the make it?
- 4:00Speaker 3: That's a big one.
- 4:01Speaker 5: Patrick Mahomes is if he wins again, will he be
- 4:05Speaker 5: a step closer being the greatest of all time? If
- 4:08Speaker 5: he doesn't win, is he a step closer to being
- 4:10Speaker 5: the greatest of all time? Just getting there?
- 4:11Speaker 2: Rock party? Is he legit or not?
- 4:12Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 4:13Speaker 3: I like that one.
- 4:14Speaker 5: Andy Reid chasing Belichick the same way that Mahomes is
- 4:18Speaker 5: kind of chasing Brady if he wins another one, He's
- 4:20Speaker 5: in that conversation for sure. Kyle Shanahan back at it
- 4:25Speaker 5: after one lost Super Bowl last time, but also twenty
- 4:29Speaker 5: eight to three when they were up on the Patriots
- 4:31Speaker 5: in Atlanta. He was the offensive coordinator, so this is
- 4:36Speaker 5: his vindication. Ish the two top defenses. My favorite storyline.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Of all of that A lot to choose from.
- 4:51Speaker 5: What interests me the most. I guess my favorite storyline
- 4:54Speaker 5: is will I win this money? Because I haven't cashed
- 4:56Speaker 5: out of it?
- 4:56Speaker 3: You haven't seen that storyline, the headline.
- 4:58Speaker 2: It's mine though, because I did all these futures on
- 5:00Speaker 2: Kansas City.
- 5:01Speaker 6: Is that up anywhere?
- 5:02Speaker 3: No, man, it's in Bobby's Bobby's publication.
- 5:04Speaker 5: It's a story that I'm doing now in my head.
- 5:06Speaker 5: I was like, what most interests me about this game?
- 5:08Speaker 5: It's that I have all these futures on Kansas City.
- 5:11Speaker 5: I haven't made any bets on the game itself, and.
- 5:13Speaker 3: You haven't cashed out any of those.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I've done a couple of prop bets. I've not cashed
- 5:16Speaker 2: out anything.
- 5:17Speaker 3: We told you what to do. Is it just a
- 5:19Speaker 3: bit when you ask us for advice?
- 5:21Speaker 2: No, it's not. But a lot of times when you
- 5:22Speaker 2: say stuff, I do the opposite.
- 5:24Speaker 3: I mean, I get it, And that's why I asked.
- 5:26Speaker 3: When we see the outcome, You're like, I good call.
- 5:29Speaker 5: Who do you think wins the game? Because mine is
- 5:33Speaker 5: there's no points mine was just a future to win
- 5:34Speaker 5: the Super Bowl.
- 5:35Speaker 3: I think the Chiefs win the game.
- 5:38Speaker 2: That's what most people think.
- 5:39Speaker 3: That's my prediction. Yeah, except Vegas, except Vegas. You're right, correct, Kevin.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Yeah, who wins the game?
- 5:47Speaker 6: The Chiefs?
- 5:49Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 5:49Speaker 6: If I yeah, if you're holding a gun to my head,
- 5:51Speaker 6: I hot and say the Chiefs.
- 5:52Speaker 2: You just put it on the quarterback, you think.
- 5:53Speaker 6: Yeah, at the end of the day, like like what
- 5:55Speaker 6: what what do you say around here?
- 5:57Speaker 8: Gott to be the man.
- 5:58Speaker 5: You gotta beat the man exactly. Also, can't City's defense,
- 6:00Speaker 5: although young, they're really good. I have one cash out
- 6:05Speaker 5: that I could do right now for one thy ninety
- 6:07Speaker 5: seven dollars.
- 6:08Speaker 2: That's the one we told you. I just think I'm gonna.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Roll, Yes, roll dogget.
- 6:17Speaker 4: With raw Doggett.
- 6:19Speaker 9: All right, next question, all right, do you think Kyle
- 6:21Speaker 9: Shanahan needs to win the Super Bowl in order to
- 6:23Speaker 9: get put in the Andy Reid category?
- 6:25Speaker 5: Well, yeah, Andy reads in the category of is he
- 6:28Speaker 5: the greatest of all time? And if he wins this one,
- 6:31Speaker 5: he'll be in that category. Now he's that guy in
- 6:34Speaker 5: the precipice of being possibly the one of the greatest
- 6:36Speaker 5: of all time. But he needs to win a super
- 6:38Speaker 5: Bowl because the Niners have been really good. He's been
- 6:42Speaker 5: really good, but twice his teams have choked. He listened,
- 6:47Speaker 5: he didn't play defense, he didn't coax the defense when Atlanta,
- 6:50Speaker 5: but they also didn't score, you know, yeah, so that sucks.
- 6:56Speaker 3: In the San.
- 6:56Speaker 5: Francisco they had it. Yeah, Jimmy g throw a bad back.
- 7:01Speaker 5: But again, it's never just on one play. There are
- 7:03Speaker 5: also always many decisions that lead to one play. But
- 7:06Speaker 5: I think he needs to win the super Bowl to
- 7:08Speaker 5: be considered one of the I mean, it's just like
- 7:11Speaker 5: a ring, even though it's always not fair. You get
- 7:13Speaker 5: a ring, you're considered a level higher than nobody who
- 7:16Speaker 5: doesn't have a ring, even if the person who doesn't
- 7:19Speaker 5: have the ring is better. For example, when people compare
- 7:22Speaker 5: like now read, who would you say it was a
- 7:23Speaker 5: better quarterback, knowing what you know, Eli Manning two super
- 7:26Speaker 5: Bowl wins or Jimmy wis Dan Reno played all No?
- 7:30Speaker 2: Yeah, like who would you have as your quarterback? But
- 7:33Speaker 2: I've heard better things about Dan Marino. You've heard better things. Yeah,
- 7:36Speaker 2: I would say Peyton's better than Eli, right, yeah, but.
- 7:39Speaker 3: We're talking about Eli and Dan. Right, let's comparison.
- 7:42Speaker 5: All I would say is a lot of people don't
- 7:44Speaker 5: give Dan Reno the credit possibly be one of the
- 7:46Speaker 5: greatest ever because he has no rings. Charles Barkley same thing,
- 7:48Speaker 5: no rings. I think he needs a ring. He's been
- 7:52Speaker 5: to the Super Bowl twice falcons of Niners. He's reached
- 7:54Speaker 5: the NFC Championship five times. He's known as one of
- 7:58Speaker 5: the greatest offensive minds. None owns a guy that makes
- 8:00Speaker 5: grea adjustments at halftime but just can't win the big game.
- 8:04Speaker 3: It's got to be much easier for Andy Reid too.
- 8:06Speaker 3: When your quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes, you got Shanahan, You're just
- 8:09Speaker 3: like God.
- 8:09Speaker 5: To be fair Andy Reid's quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes, because Patrick Mahomes,
- 8:12Speaker 5: Andy Reid, meaning all these quarterbacks and Andy Reid systems
- 8:16Speaker 5: from Alex Smith to Dante Culpepper to whomever.
- 8:18Speaker 2: They always that's you want to be in his system?
- 8:21Speaker 3: Oh wow, I didn't really.
- 8:21Speaker 9: But until like when they won it four years ago.
- 8:24Speaker 9: Now he had that monkey on his back too, Andy Reid.
- 8:26Speaker 9: You know, he went to the NFC Championship what four
- 8:28Speaker 9: years in row with the Eagles, couldn't get it done,
- 8:30Speaker 9: and then they lost to the who oh the Patriots? Yeah,
- 8:33Speaker 9: I think right, ye, No, four.
- 8:36Speaker 5: We don't care, we don't hate the Patriots, and not
- 8:38Speaker 5: really prove him. Man, it's the last show and you're
- 8:40Speaker 5: being all spiteful tittle tattle.
- 8:42Speaker 9: Next, all right, the quarterback is a heavy favorite to
- 8:44Speaker 9: win the MVP. But if you had to pick one
- 8:46Speaker 9: non QB, who would it be easy?
- 8:48Speaker 5: I know McCaffrey is the dude that probably is gonna
- 8:51Speaker 5: get the ball and it will be the factor. However,
- 8:54Speaker 5: I think that I think people would love for it
- 8:56Speaker 5: Kelsey to be the MVP.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Oh gosh, I hope and if it's close, yes please no.
- 9:02Speaker 5: So the problem is, if Kansas City wins, Mahomes is
- 9:04Speaker 5: probably the MVP, and if San Francisco wins, most likely party,
- 9:09Speaker 5: but it also could be one of those other guys.
- 9:11Speaker 5: It could be anybody from AYUK or Debo. But for
- 9:14Speaker 5: Kansas City to have Kelsey be the MVP, is Kelsey
- 9:18Speaker 5: scoring like three touchdowns? Because if Mahomes throws three, Kelsey
- 9:24Speaker 5: catches all three. Kelsey is gonna get the benefit of
- 9:27Speaker 5: that doubt because of Taylor, just because it's easier to
- 9:32Speaker 5: throw a touchdown because you have all these options and
- 9:34Speaker 5: to catch a touchdown when you're the only option just
- 9:37Speaker 5: a numbers game. Yeah, So I think Kelsey would be
- 9:40Speaker 5: hilarious to win. And I think if it's even he'll
- 9:42Speaker 5: get it. And this is a big deal too, because
- 9:44Speaker 5: if he retires after this year, we're not going to have.
- 9:47Speaker 3: He's getting married.
- 9:48Speaker 2: He's not gonna tire. And I don't know that he's
- 9:49Speaker 2: getting married.
- 9:50Speaker 3: That's what they're saying.
- 9:51Speaker 2: They said that about every tailor romance.
- 9:54Speaker 3: True.
- 9:55Speaker 9: Yeah, right, next up the last one. Let's do a
- 9:57Speaker 9: two parter because it could be the last one ever. Right,
- 9:59Speaker 9: Usher is set to perform. So are you excited about Usher?
- 10:02Speaker 9: And number two? Who out of an artist or a
- 10:05Speaker 9: band that you haven't seen perform there at the super Bowl?
- 10:07Speaker 6: Would you like to see?
- 10:08Speaker 5: I don't want any of my favorite people to ever
- 10:10Speaker 5: perform at halftime in the Super Bowl because all it
- 10:11Speaker 5: does is create haters. So one of my favorite yeah,
- 10:15Speaker 5: imagine one of my favorite bands. Let's say Foo Fighters
- 10:17Speaker 5: goes out and plays and freaking rocks it. It doesn't
- 10:21Speaker 5: matter how good they play. My wife's gonna be like,
- 10:22Speaker 5: why these old dudes up?
- 10:23Speaker 2: They're playing?
- 10:24Speaker 5: And people and then people who just want to complain
- 10:26Speaker 5: and be like that sucked even though it was great,
- 10:28Speaker 5: because they do it to everybody. So I don't want
- 10:30Speaker 5: my favorite band to play that halftime show.
- 10:31Speaker 2: It's not worth it.
- 10:33Speaker 5: I think like a Beaber or an ed Shearon would
- 10:37Speaker 5: be cool because generally they're liked and there's really not
- 10:39Speaker 5: a lot they can do to make people like them
- 10:41Speaker 5: less because what they do you already get it. They
- 10:45Speaker 5: go out, they play their music, they sing at Sharon
- 10:47Speaker 5: especially it's guys a guitar, you'd be good.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that would be cool, or like.
- 10:54Speaker 5: I just wouldn't do it if I were like somebody,
- 10:55Speaker 5: though that depended so much on the vocals, Like if
- 10:58Speaker 5: you were like an Adele for example, Oh yeah, because
- 11:00Speaker 5: it's so she's so good vocally that if they happen
- 11:03Speaker 5: to mess that up a little bit where it's not
- 11:04Speaker 5: exactly perfect, it didn't live up to the Adele standard.
- 11:06Speaker 3: Well, they lip sync it too, right.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Sometimes sometimes in some of it, but not all of
- 11:11Speaker 2: it all the time.
- 11:12Speaker 3: Yeah, like they turn it off when they're like thank
- 11:14Speaker 3: you super Bowl.
- 11:15Speaker 10: Well.
- 11:15Speaker 5: I think they also sing with their track sometimes too,
- 11:17Speaker 5: because it's been a thing where it's like, oh, their liptaking.
- 11:19Speaker 3: I think they missed the boat on this one huge
- 11:21Speaker 3: opportunity and not how Taylor do it?
- 11:22Speaker 5: They couldn't mean I believe the sponsor maybe it was
- 11:25Speaker 5: last year, the sponsor that the pepsi coke thing apple
- 11:29Speaker 5: this year. And also why would Taylor doesn't she doesn't
- 11:33Speaker 5: need it, No, because they don't even pay it.
- 11:35Speaker 6: It doesn't pay it just for the followers and promotion. Yeah,
- 11:39Speaker 6: she definitely doesn't need.
- 11:40Speaker 2: It first person ever.
- 11:41Speaker 7: Right now?
- 11:42Speaker 2: All right, that's the final tittle Tattle, Thank you stupid.
- 11:47Speaker 2: The tittle Tattle.

- 12:18Speaker 10: I like that.
- 12:20Speaker 5: Because you get two defenses and I'm going Kelsey over
- 12:24Speaker 5: seventy point five receiving yards.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Yeah, that's it.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Count your smiles one final time.

- 13:04Speaker 2: Oh dude, Yes, it's awesome. I have his phone number.
- 13:06Speaker 2: And how you got him on the show. Yeah, got
- 13:08Speaker 2: his number.
- 13:09Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 13:09Speaker 3: I told him all about what we do and everything.
- 13:11Speaker 3: He's like, cool, man's get me on your podcast. We'll see.
- 13:14Speaker 5: So he requested you and then you said we'll see dude,
- 13:16Speaker 5: and I said we'll see Elan.
- 13:17Speaker 2: That's not how it happened.
- 13:19Speaker 6: Yes, please, please come on our podcast.
- 13:21Speaker 4: Do we love It?
- 13:22Speaker 11: Tony.
- 13:23Speaker 5: Tony was a nose tackle who went back to back
- 13:24Speaker 5: Super Bowls with the Cowboys in the early nineties. Right,
- 13:27Speaker 5: he won a natural championship at Oklahoma, Big big Boomer,
- 13:31Speaker 5: Sooner guy.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Him and Eddy became best friends. Did you write this?
- 13:34Speaker 3: I did not, but that's a great description.
- 13:37Speaker 5: Him and Eddy became best friends, and they met in
- 13:39Speaker 5: Dallas for a game this year and I grew stronger
- 13:40Speaker 5: during this. Okay, anyway, here he is at Tony Casillas.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 13:45Speaker 5: Do you consider yourself or do you think that you
- 13:48Speaker 5: get called out more for being a Sooner legend or
- 13:51Speaker 5: a Cowboys super Bowl champion? If you're just somewhere, who
- 13:55Speaker 5: are you mostly Tony the Sooners All American or Dallas
- 13:58Speaker 5: Cowboy champion?
- 14:00Speaker 12: Well, I'll tell you what with my Super Bowl ring,
- 14:01Speaker 12: I'm just this old old guy with the Super Bowl ring.
- 14:04Speaker 12: And you know it's a funny thing about as a cowboy.
- 14:07Speaker 12: You're living in Dallas, and man, it's just been you know,
- 14:10Speaker 12: Dallas has been this toxic relationship for so many years.
- 14:13Speaker 12: I think everyone just hears the same thing and you
- 14:16Speaker 12: know it's going to change, But you never change, and
- 14:19Speaker 12: you break up and you go back together. You know,
- 14:22Speaker 12: I think probably living in Dallas. You know, I've been
- 14:26Speaker 12: out of the game for so long, but uh, you know,
- 14:30Speaker 12: the true true fans remember you. Uh you know, Dallas.
- 14:34Speaker 12: It's such an Unfortunately, as I mentioned, it's been so
- 14:36Speaker 12: long since we've done anything relevant, and which is okay,
- 14:41Speaker 12: we just have to reminisce about it the old times.
- 14:43Speaker 12: But I think, oh, you, football is something that always
- 14:46Speaker 12: be in my DNA. God, I had so many great memories.
- 14:50Speaker 12: I think when I go back to Oklahoma, yeah, a
- 14:52Speaker 12: lot of people, you know, they recognize my work. And
- 14:55Speaker 12: in regardless of how do you get, there's some there's
- 15:01Speaker 12: a yoke between you and the fan base. And I
- 15:04Speaker 12: think that that's the beauty of that. The beauty of
- 15:07Speaker 12: I think when I look at playing the game of
- 15:09Speaker 12: football is how lucky I've been to be able to
- 15:12Speaker 12: play on championship teams because a lot of fans, the
- 15:17Speaker 12: fan base will forget different players and different groups of generations,
- 15:23Speaker 12: but they have the tendency not to forget hopefully the
- 15:27Speaker 12: history and understand that. And I think in Oklahoma is
- 15:32Speaker 12: obviously a great case for that. But you know, Dallas
- 15:36Speaker 12: is such a Again, it's just it's been such a
- 15:39Speaker 12: long time, and so people have to we have to
- 15:42Speaker 12: be relevant somewhat with the guys that played in the
- 15:45Speaker 12: Super Bowl thirty years. As weird as that sounds, unfortunately,
- 15:50Speaker 12: that's where we're at now, which is not my it's
- 15:52Speaker 12: not my undoing. I tell everyone I have nothing to
- 15:54Speaker 12: do with it, and we just did what we did,
- 15:56Speaker 12: and I do I do tell people. You were just
- 16:00Speaker 12: born at the wrong place at the wrong time.
- 16:02Speaker 5: So would you rather if you had to pick one, Oh,
- 16:04Speaker 5: you won a national championship next year, first year in
- 16:06Speaker 5: the SEC, or the Cowboys won the Super Bowl?
- 16:08Speaker 11: Damn, that's a great question because you.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Only get one.
- 16:12Speaker 12: Uh Uh, I don't know. I think that's a great question.
- 16:20Speaker 12: I'm gonna I'm gonna go with Dallas. I think Oklahoma
- 16:23Speaker 12: and let it's gonna take some transition for them to
- 16:26Speaker 12: get used to the SEC, and you know, I think
- 16:29Speaker 12: they'll win. But it's I think the parody is a
- 16:32Speaker 12: little different. I think the Big Twelve had some great
- 16:35Speaker 12: teams in it, or some teams, you know, with the
- 16:38Speaker 12: trans support and the nil you guys know, it just
- 16:41Speaker 12: changes everything. It's just you can't really get any gauge
- 16:44Speaker 12: on any team because they changed so much. I'm looking
- 16:48Speaker 12: for that answer. I'm gonna go with I'm gonna go
- 16:50Speaker 12: with Dallas because I think that they're we and here
- 16:54Speaker 12: I am following it's not even it's not even preseason yet,
- 16:58Speaker 12: because that's usually what everyone does. Our year, this is
- 17:00Speaker 12: our year, Yeah, this is our year, or it's yeah,
- 17:04Speaker 12: it's our year until it gets to the postseason play
- 17:07Speaker 12: and him, We're like, what the hell just happened the
- 17:09Speaker 12: last seventeen weeks.
- 17:14Speaker 11: But I don't know.
- 17:14Speaker 12: I think it's gonna be interesting. And you know this,
- 17:16Speaker 12: what's the bonds is what you know, Bobby, is that
- 17:19Speaker 12: my daughter went to Arkansas. So I'm a big Arkansas
- 17:23Speaker 12: FN and I know John Daly and I know he's
- 17:25Speaker 12: a huge obviously he's he bleeds uh you razor back.
- 17:29Speaker 12: But I love going to Arkansas. I love going to
- 17:32Speaker 12: I love the SEC and environment and everything that goes
- 17:35Speaker 12: along with that. And but it's just that's a that's
- 17:41Speaker 12: a man's that's a big boy conference. So but I'm
- 17:45Speaker 12: gonna go with Dallas. I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna
- 17:48Speaker 12: continue on. It's gonna be our year, and damn, I
- 17:51Speaker 12: just want them.
- 17:52Speaker 11: I just want them to.
- 17:54Speaker 12: Go back while I'm still here. I mean, is that
- 17:58Speaker 12: too much ass? Let's just keep our fingers cross man.
- 18:01Speaker 3: That's not too much to ask. I think that's that's
- 18:03Speaker 3: that's perfect. But Tony, let me ask you this. You
- 18:05Speaker 3: were there when Jimmy Johnson did the famous how about
- 18:09Speaker 3: them Cowboys? What was that like in person? I mean,
- 18:12Speaker 3: obviously you were on top of the world when that happened,
- 18:14Speaker 3: but that's something we will as Cowboys fans will say forever.
- 18:18Speaker 3: And you were there.
- 18:20Speaker 11: But here's the thing. I remember.
- 18:23Speaker 12: You know, he got inducted the Ring of Honor, guys
- 18:26Speaker 12: went back for his players. He wanted to make sure
- 18:28Speaker 12: that we're able to come back and experience that, which
- 18:32Speaker 12: was long overdue. But when he when he came out
- 18:35Speaker 12: there and the last thing you said, I think we're
- 18:38Speaker 12: all just anticipating that happened, but when he said it,
- 18:42Speaker 12: how about them Cowboys? It just it's just very vivid
- 18:45Speaker 12: because I remember, after, you know, we won the Super Bowl,
- 18:52Speaker 12: that he that's the words that came out of his
- 18:56Speaker 12: after the after the game, after we won the game.
- 18:57Speaker 12: And it's so vivid because hadn't changed. You know, Jimmy's older,
- 19:02Speaker 12: but his his his delivery and his communication with us
- 19:09Speaker 12: in the locker room was the thing that great coaches
- 19:12Speaker 12: were able to do.
- 19:12Speaker 11: And who would have thought that that would have been
- 19:15Speaker 11: this legendary.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Uh.
- 19:18Speaker 12: You know this quote that he said after the game
- 19:22Speaker 12: is beyond and you know, it just really sends what's
- 19:26Speaker 12: chills down your spine because being in that moment and
- 19:29Speaker 12: understanding how vivid it was and to hear him say it,
- 19:32Speaker 12: you know, granted this has been thirty years ago and
- 19:35Speaker 12: now here it.
- 19:37Speaker 11: Man, it's timeless.
- 19:38Speaker 12: And the fact that he did it when Dallas was
- 19:42Speaker 12: getting blown out by Green Bay at the halftime, Like
- 19:45Speaker 12: why did they just kind of.
- 19:46Speaker 11: Plug it in the locker room?
- 19:47Speaker 12: So these guys, these these modern day players could hear
- 19:51Speaker 12: that because it doesn't change, man, it makes you move.
- 19:53Speaker 12: And so yeah, it's it's a vivid, vivid moment that
- 19:57Speaker 12: will never change. And he was just amazing communicator. He
- 20:02Speaker 12: just pulled those things out of nowhere and just here
- 20:05Speaker 12: we go thirty years later. That's and you'll hear that forever.
- 20:09Speaker 3: I've always wondered, you know, like how the announcers get
- 20:12Speaker 3: clarifications for like names, you know, and I'm Hispanic, and
- 20:16Speaker 3: I know that Garcia is a little easier, but Garcias
- 20:20Speaker 3: is like specific. My last name is did you have
- 20:22Speaker 3: to tell people over and over like all right, this
- 20:24Speaker 3: is how you pronounce it's not Cacilla's, like, this is
- 20:26Speaker 3: how you pronounce it.
- 20:29Speaker 10: Well, it's a.
- 20:29Speaker 12: Butcher name, without a doubt, and I expected. What's interesting
- 20:34Speaker 12: is like when I was growing up in Oklahoma, I
- 20:37Speaker 12: had sixty five first cousins, a big culture Hispanic family.
- 20:42Speaker 12: Dad had thirteen brothers and sisters. Do the math, Hispanic Catholic,
- 20:46Speaker 12: so kind of get the picture. So when I was
- 20:51Speaker 12: when I was in prejudice and was really relevant prevalent
- 20:55Speaker 12: in Oklahoma. And so it was funny because we lived
- 20:59Speaker 12: on the other We lived in the white neighborhood, so
- 21:03Speaker 12: to speak. We got out and then it really wasn't
- 21:06Speaker 12: this you know, it very middle class or maybe lower
- 21:09Speaker 12: middle class. But my grandparents lived on the other side.
- 21:12Speaker 12: And what would happen is every weekend, all of a sudden,
- 21:16Speaker 12: you know, it's like a small house. It's like one
- 21:19Speaker 12: or two room house, very small. I remember I could
- 21:21Speaker 12: touch the ceiling when I was like sixth grade, that's
- 21:23Speaker 12: how small the house was. So anyway, we had everyone
- 21:26Speaker 12: would come there with sixty five first cousins, grandparents, everything,
- 21:29Speaker 12: my kid, my, my, uh. You know, my dad never
- 21:33Speaker 12: spoke Spanish around me, but I know when he got
- 21:34Speaker 12: around my uncles, they started, you know, saying all these
- 21:36Speaker 12: corchina words. I knew they didn't want to sit here
- 21:38Speaker 12: what they were talking about. But anyway, when I went
- 21:41Speaker 12: over to my grandparents, they my uncles and aunts pronounce
- 21:45Speaker 12: their named Cassius. But then we went back over to
- 21:50Speaker 12: east side Tulsa, it went back to Casillas, and I'm thinking, okay,
- 21:53Speaker 12: well aren't we related. This is something to your brother,
- 21:57Speaker 12: and so he never did give me really an answer
- 22:00Speaker 12: that so it's Casillas. So everyone called me Casillas until
- 22:03Speaker 12: I got to college and I'm my following had a
- 22:06Speaker 12: hard heart conversation. I said, Dad, I said, why why
- 22:10Speaker 12: is a hard name pronounced different than my other family
- 22:13Speaker 12: as well?
- 22:14Speaker 11: I just wanted to make it sound more Anglo.
- 22:16Speaker 12: We're living in an area and I just didn't want
- 22:17Speaker 12: to hear all you guys have to go deal with
- 22:19Speaker 12: all the prejudice. And so that's when I went back
- 22:22Speaker 12: to Casillas. And you know, Obviously, people that knew me,
- 22:27Speaker 12: you know, thought that my name was Casillas for a
- 22:29Speaker 12: long time, and I said, now I corrected them. So,
- 22:32Speaker 12: but yeah, it's a very profound name. It's very I
- 22:36Speaker 12: know there's a lot more cassius is out there, but
- 22:38Speaker 12: uh it's probably one of the most butchered names, without
- 22:41Speaker 12: a doubt.
- 22:42Speaker 5: Whenever you're drafted by the Falcons, you play a few
- 22:44Speaker 5: years in Atlanta and you're you know, you head over
- 22:46Speaker 5: to Dallas. But Dallas wasn't good your first year's in Atlanta,
- 22:49Speaker 5: as a matter of fact, they were terrible. So when
- 22:51Speaker 5: you were going to Dallas, were you like, all right,
- 22:54Speaker 5: I'm about to get in on it, organizations, it's on
- 22:57Speaker 5: the way up.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Or were you like, I don't even know what's about
- 22:59Speaker 2: to happen.
- 23:01Speaker 12: No, I knew anything was good, but I knew anything
- 23:03Speaker 12: it was gonna be better than than uh th In Atlanta.
- 23:06Speaker 12: It was this toxic environment the organization. It was more
- 23:11Speaker 12: uh more just trying to make money and not spend
- 23:15Speaker 12: money to be good, and it just become this culture
- 23:18Speaker 12: of it was very toxic. And I just coming from
- 23:23Speaker 12: Oklahoma and winning. I know that you're the second player
- 23:26Speaker 12: picked in the draft and it's you. It's a huge honor.
- 23:30Speaker 11: You get paid. You know, back then, I thought it
- 23:32Speaker 11: was a lot.
- 23:32Speaker 12: I mean, it's still a lot of money, but you know,
- 23:34Speaker 12: the anyway, I knew that there's a lot of things
- 23:37Speaker 12: that come with that. For one, it's that you're gonna
- 23:39Speaker 12: be on a really crappy team, and I was. But
- 23:42Speaker 12: I think it was a culture.
- 23:43Speaker 11: There was not.
- 23:44Speaker 12: I think that that's kind of the misleading about people. Whenever,
- 23:48Speaker 12: you know, they think that they see these athletes playing
- 23:50Speaker 12: on different teams and how glamorous it is, and you know,
- 23:53Speaker 12: social media and everything. But I'll tell you what, you
- 23:56Speaker 12: get into that that routine of just going to work
- 24:01Speaker 12: and you've heard this all the time and just getting
- 24:03Speaker 12: a paycheck. I mean, all of a sudden, it becomes us.
- 24:06Speaker 12: It's contagious and everyone has that same attitude. Hey, we
- 24:09Speaker 12: don't we don't need to win. We can go four
- 24:10Speaker 12: and twelve and I'm gonna get ready for a vacation
- 24:13Speaker 12: when it's the tenth week in the season. So I
- 24:16Speaker 12: just didn't and I hated that, and so I you know,
- 24:20Speaker 12: I got traded, and I tell you, what's the best
- 24:22Speaker 12: thing going to happen to me. You mentioned Jimmy Johnson.
- 24:25Speaker 12: Jimmy Johnson, he saved my football career because you know,
- 24:28Speaker 12: Jay Dave One said, who I knew from high school
- 24:30Speaker 12: recruited me. I knew Jimmy, he was both they were
- 24:33Speaker 12: Oklahoma State, so they had some familiarity with me, and
- 24:37Speaker 12: so they saw the good in me. But I tell you, dude, man,
- 24:41Speaker 12: when I got to when I got to Dallas and
- 24:43Speaker 12: I got up playing, it was it was a night
- 24:46Speaker 12: and day, and people were excited. Even if they were bad,
- 24:50Speaker 12: they still had expectations because that was coming from the
- 24:53Speaker 12: new owner and I was coming from a coach, and
- 24:55Speaker 12: you just kind of knew it wasn't going to be
- 24:57Speaker 12: like that forever. These guys going to make something really
- 24:59Speaker 12: really special happening.
- 25:01Speaker 5: You beat Buffalo twice in a row. They ended up
- 25:03Speaker 5: losing two. They end up losing two more. After what loss,
- 25:06Speaker 5: did you start to feel bad for them?
- 25:08Speaker 10: No?
- 25:09Speaker 12: No, never, never, never, don't ever feel bad for the opponent. Look,
- 25:15Speaker 12: there's a reason why you know you got the rings
- 25:18Speaker 12: and they don't. I guess they give you a runner
- 25:21Speaker 12: up ring in the Super Bowl. But this is not
- 25:24Speaker 12: as good as the as the uh, you know, the
- 25:26Speaker 12: super Bowl, the Champion Ring and and I guess there
- 25:30Speaker 12: was some many. I mean, you go to the super
- 25:31Speaker 12: Bowl four times and you can't you don't have anything
- 25:33Speaker 12: to show for it. I guess I feel sorry to
- 25:35Speaker 12: the fans. I mean they got the best fans, But no,
- 25:39Speaker 12: I never feeling I don't really feel sorry for the loser.
- 25:41Speaker 11: I mean, I just I don't.
- 25:43Speaker 5: Whenever they were playing the Giants, or did you root
- 25:46Speaker 5: for Buffalo when you guys weren't in it because you
- 25:47Speaker 5: had played them, or did you have like a weird
- 25:49Speaker 5: taste because you played them and competed against them and
- 25:51Speaker 5: didn't like them.
- 25:53Speaker 11: Well, you never we hated people in the NCAST.
- 25:56Speaker 12: I mean, yet that's you got the Giants, you got Washington,
- 26:00Speaker 12: and you got the Eagles, So you all you hated
- 26:02Speaker 12: each other in that division.
- 26:04Speaker 11: Without a doubt.
- 26:05Speaker 8: You know.
- 26:06Speaker 11: Now I cheer for Buffalo.
- 26:07Speaker 12: I think it's it's been so long and as long
- 26:10Speaker 12: as Kansas City's and the AOC and you know, all
- 26:13Speaker 12: these other teams, they just for some reason that's kind
- 26:16Speaker 12: of the you know, that's uh, they can't ever get
- 26:19Speaker 12: over the winning the Big Game. And it's been for
- 26:21Speaker 12: a long time. And but yeah, I'm just like anyone else.
- 26:25Speaker 12: I love watching football. I'm I'm a huge fan. But yeah,
- 26:29Speaker 12: when it comes to playing a team and Phil and
- 26:32Speaker 12: so for me and you watch guys after the game,
- 26:34Speaker 12: maybe it's old school, you know, exchanging jerseys and you know,
- 26:37Speaker 12: after you get your ass kicked, and like really, I
- 26:39Speaker 12: mean you really want to you want my jersey after
- 26:41Speaker 12: I just kicked your ass, and and I hate, I
- 26:46Speaker 12: don't like that, but I guess that's just the way
- 26:48Speaker 12: it is in today's generation.
- 26:50Speaker 5: So with San Francisco and the Super Bowl and obviously
- 26:54Speaker 5: my memories, especially when you were playing it was Dallas
- 26:56Speaker 5: and San Francisco in the NFTY championship every year, it
- 26:58Speaker 5: felt like every year, right, And so do you still
- 27:01Speaker 5: have you know, this negative feeling just towards the brand
- 27:05Speaker 5: of the forty nine ers, not the people or the
- 27:07Speaker 5: organization or because they were a rival or as that
- 27:10Speaker 5: long gone as well.
- 27:12Speaker 12: You know what, I think there's certain when they're playing Dallas,
- 27:15Speaker 12: I think some of that stuff comes out.
- 27:18Speaker 10: And I think that.
- 27:21Speaker 12: You know, our success against the forty nine ers and
- 27:23Speaker 12: you just mentioned we played each other and it met something.
- 27:26Speaker 11: You know, it's gonna be the postseason play.
- 27:28Speaker 12: It's gonna be the forty nine Ers and the Cowboys
- 27:30Speaker 12: and all these historic matchups and everything that goes along
- 27:33Speaker 12: with it. But I mean, when I look at the
- 27:36Speaker 12: Super Bowl, I just think it's such an accomplishment that
- 27:39Speaker 12: teams get there because it's so hard to get there.
- 27:42Speaker 12: And I think we you know, there's a lot of
- 27:44Speaker 12: people that they have their teams and the teams they
- 27:49Speaker 12: chair for, and even for Buffalo in saying that, yeah,
- 27:53Speaker 12: I said, I feel sorry for him. But the fact
- 27:57Speaker 12: that you get you're able to get there is a
- 27:59Speaker 12: huge pomplishment and winning it. I mean, there's so many
- 28:02Speaker 12: things that have to happen for you to for you
- 28:05Speaker 12: to be able to get on that road of going
- 28:08Speaker 12: to Super Bowl. But you know, I look at the
- 28:11Speaker 12: forty nine Ers, The Raiders are probably the worst the
- 28:16Speaker 12: most aggressive fan base, I would say, and that would
- 28:20Speaker 12: be the Raiders and after that the forty nine Ers.
- 28:23Speaker 12: First of all, if anybody who invites you to go
- 28:25Speaker 12: to forty nine Ers Raiders game, don't go, man, a
- 28:30Speaker 12: good chance you're gonna get your ask you're or it
- 28:33Speaker 12: depends on which jersey are gonna wear. But I just
- 28:37Speaker 12: love watching I mean, there's so many great things these two.
- 28:40Speaker 12: You know, with San Francisco, you got a quarterback that
- 28:42Speaker 12: was drafted, last player picked in the draft and taking
- 28:45Speaker 12: his team to Super Bowl. So there's so many storylines
- 28:47Speaker 12: to it to not make you to want to make
- 28:50Speaker 12: you cheer for him just because of what their storylines are,
- 28:53Speaker 12: all right.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Three final questions.
- 28:55Speaker 5: Dan Quinn left defensive COORDA did a great job in Dallas,
- 28:58Speaker 5: but now he's gonna go and be the head coach
- 29:00Speaker 5: of the Commanders.
- 29:01Speaker 2: How big of a loss of the Cowboys is that.
- 29:05Speaker 11: I think it's a big loss.
- 29:07Speaker 12: I think that I think we all kind of knew
- 29:10Speaker 12: that Dan was going to be a head coach again
- 29:13Speaker 12: after Atlanta, and but I think that after that playoff
- 29:18Speaker 12: game and when Dallas lost the Green Bay there was
- 29:21Speaker 12: kind of some kind of decision making that was made
- 29:24Speaker 12: on the defensive side of the ball.
- 29:26Speaker 11: But I don't know.
- 29:27Speaker 12: I think that there's probably some things on that defense
- 29:30Speaker 12: we don't know about. I think that when you look
- 29:32Speaker 12: at the players that they have defensive lead, you know,
- 29:36Speaker 12: I think Micah Parson is a tremendous player.
- 29:38Speaker 11: But I think sometimes you may be a little selfish
- 29:43Speaker 11: and because you look.
- 29:45Speaker 12: In that game not to get too technical, the way
- 29:48Speaker 12: they're playing with on the nickel Pats, they're playing with
- 29:50Speaker 12: a lot of defensive backs.
- 29:52Speaker 11: They really didn't have a linebacker.
- 29:53Speaker 12: All their linebacker were decimated Leydon vander Ashy, he was injured,
- 29:57Speaker 12: so they really their their linebackers.
- 29:59Speaker 11: Just this appeared.
- 30:01Speaker 12: And I just don't think Micah the way he plays,
- 30:04Speaker 12: he wants to play up and make all these big plays,
- 30:06Speaker 12: and there's nothing wrong with that, but whenever you need
- 30:08Speaker 12: to solidify the core of your defense, you've got no
- 30:11Speaker 12: one to play. I just don't think guys really took
- 30:15Speaker 12: on that role. And I think Dan's gonna be a
- 30:18Speaker 12: tremendous a tremendous coach. Everyone I talked to been around
- 30:21Speaker 12: and he's this leader man, he's very defense is fun
- 30:24Speaker 12: to play and uh and and really the guy's really
- 30:28Speaker 12: he's the last three years you got to what he
- 30:30Speaker 12: did for the Dallass defense was amazing. And will it
- 30:34Speaker 12: hurt uh to a certain stoint, But I think that
- 30:38Speaker 12: there'll be a different philosophy, but but it'll be a
- 30:40Speaker 12: philosophy that's kind of similar to what they have now.
- 30:43Speaker 12: But I think he's going to be a tremendous tremendous coach.
- 30:46Speaker 12: I mean, Washington got their guy. I think he'll definitely
- 30:48Speaker 12: help turn that program around.
- 30:50Speaker 3: Yeah, along with that Champ. You know people the fans
- 30:53Speaker 3: are always talking about like, oh.
- 30:55Speaker 2: I know he's a Champ, but you just it was
- 30:59Speaker 2: just like so actually super Bowl Tim, Yeah, I love it.
- 31:02Speaker 10: Man.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Hey to be honest, when when we were listening to
- 31:07Speaker 3: let him continue, Hey, just a couple of cowboys fans
- 31:11Speaker 3: talking here. All right, Okay, so Champ, like I was saying,
- 31:15Speaker 3: so so, so you know, like a lot of the
- 31:17Speaker 3: fans love that. They blamed Dak, they blame Jerry Jones,
- 31:20Speaker 3: they blamed the coach, they blamed d like like Dan Quinn,
- 31:23Speaker 3: they blame all sorts of things, And I just feel like,
- 31:28Speaker 3: don't they know what they're doing, Like we don't know
- 31:30Speaker 3: what's going on in there? Like we they know what
- 31:32Speaker 3: they're doing. But you've been inside it too, Like is
- 31:35Speaker 3: that is that factual? To be inside the organization and
- 31:38Speaker 3: listen to fans listen to radio shows talk about what
- 31:41Speaker 3: the problem is and then you just listen to that
- 31:42Speaker 3: and say, like, that's not even close to what's happened here.
- 31:45Speaker 12: Well, I think that that's now with Uh, it was funny.
- 31:48Speaker 12: I asked Troy im I was doing a podcast doing
- 31:51Speaker 12: some hit on Instagram and and I was asking, so,
- 31:54Speaker 12: what would be the difference between now and you know,
- 31:56Speaker 12: when you played in the quarterback now for the Cowboys,
- 32:00Speaker 12: because I probably have about five million more followers on Instagram.
- 32:04Speaker 12: So the social media component has really changed things. Because
- 32:09Speaker 12: it's a brand. I think that that really it's kind
- 32:12Speaker 12: of a slippery slope for the brand, especially the Dallas
- 32:15Speaker 12: because I think that some guys just get all caught
- 32:17Speaker 12: up in that really didn't cut their teeth or do
- 32:21Speaker 12: anything to haven't won anything in the last thirty years,
- 32:25Speaker 12: and so it's a representation of what this brand brings
- 32:29Speaker 12: you as a player, and I think sometimes that kind
- 32:31Speaker 12: of gets lost in all the most important thing is
- 32:33Speaker 12: like you go out there and you're supposed to win,
- 32:35Speaker 12: and this is a franchise that's one in the past,
- 32:41Speaker 12: so it's your job to get us relevant. And I
- 32:43Speaker 12: think sometimes it gets lost with just hey, I'm a
- 32:46Speaker 12: Dallas Cowboy, I'm America's team. Forty million people watch this
- 32:51Speaker 12: last week, They're going to see me and then I'm
- 32:52Speaker 12: gonna And I think sometimes maybe for some guys and
- 32:57Speaker 12: it gets they get caught up in that. I think
- 32:58Speaker 12: that that's kind of something we're seeing with this team
- 33:03Speaker 12: because whenever you show up and you play in a
- 33:07Speaker 12: playoff game like they did against Green Bay and you
- 33:10Speaker 12: play awful on offense, on defense, every aspect, coaching was
- 33:15Speaker 12: horrific and was terrible, and then you expect people to
- 33:20Speaker 12: listen to what you have to say without any criticism.
- 33:24Speaker 11: And to me, you can't have it both ways.
- 33:27Speaker 9: Man.
- 33:27Speaker 11: You got If you want to.
- 33:28Speaker 12: Be part of this platform and you don't want to
- 33:32Speaker 12: be criticized your play, or you played and you want
- 33:34Speaker 12: to be soft, then that's your problem. To me, I
- 33:38Speaker 12: think that that's kind of been a demise, certainly for
- 33:42Speaker 12: Dallas in the last few years, just because of that.
- 33:44Speaker 12: Because the brand's gotten so big without any without any validation,
- 33:49Speaker 12: validating hey, we're.
- 33:50Speaker 11: This good and it and you know this.
- 33:52Speaker 12: It makes people mad to hear America's team and like, hey,
- 33:55Speaker 12: you guys haven't done anything in years but.
- 33:59Speaker 11: Jerry's and Mark genius.
- 34:00Speaker 2: You are who you are.
- 34:02Speaker 5: You are America to My final question is more of
- 34:05Speaker 5: a statement. I got a text from my father in law,
- 34:08Speaker 5: massive ou fan. He said to tell you thanks for
- 34:10Speaker 5: the goal line stand against Texas and Nebraska.
- 34:13Speaker 2: He really appreciated that.
- 34:16Speaker 5: What do you remember about the goal line stands against
- 34:20Speaker 5: Texas and Nebraska?
- 34:23Speaker 12: Well, I remember the Texas game and tell you your dad,
- 34:27Speaker 12: your dad, right, just tell your dad that I'm still
- 34:29Speaker 12: my butt still heard about that game because we end
- 34:31Speaker 12: up losing. You know, the goal line stand was amazing
- 34:35Speaker 12: and that it was nineteen eighty four in the Cotton
- 34:38Speaker 12: Bowl Ou Texas game and we're just balling out and
- 34:43Speaker 12: during the duration of that game, there's so many plays
- 34:46Speaker 12: that we recovered far more we got takeaways, but we
- 34:49Speaker 12: didn't get the ball. We just didn't catch any of
- 34:51Speaker 12: the breaks we should have. Instant replay slammed up in
- 34:54Speaker 12: the game. Then we had the goal line stand and
- 34:57Speaker 12: we had to keep them out as miserable as and uh,
- 35:01Speaker 12: just this kind of a cool environment if you're a player,
- 35:04Speaker 12: just down and dirty. And they had the ball right
- 35:06Speaker 12: there on the goal line right there. I believe it
- 35:10Speaker 12: was fourth and or it was first in half of
- 35:13Speaker 12: half a yard to the score, and we stuffed them
- 35:16Speaker 12: four times, and ultimately that's how we ended up winning
- 35:19Speaker 12: the game. We're tying the game because we we ended
- 35:22Speaker 12: up taking a safety and then they got the ball
- 35:24Speaker 12: back and uh, we made an interception in the end
- 35:28Speaker 12: zone which was clearly two yards in bounds by Keith Stanberry,
- 35:32Speaker 12: and that would have changed the like we would have
- 35:34Speaker 12: won the game. But they were certainly they're very fortunate,
- 35:40Speaker 12: and they kicked the field goal and tied. So you know,
- 35:43Speaker 12: that really pissed me off, and I was really upset
- 35:45Speaker 12: about that.
- 35:47Speaker 8: Uh.
- 35:47Speaker 12: In the Nebraska game, you know, we played Nebraska, It's
- 35:51Speaker 12: always there was always something that was gonna happen big
- 35:55Speaker 12: at whoever won that game, and we needed to win
- 35:57Speaker 12: that game. In Norman, we stuffed in the same same
- 36:01Speaker 12: uh circumstances. It was one of these, uh you know,
- 36:05Speaker 12: you you can keep them mount the in zone or
- 36:07Speaker 12: we're not going there one spot playing for the national championship,
- 36:10Speaker 12: and we ended up stuff because you know what, we
- 36:12Speaker 12: were used to it. You know, it's a thing about it.
- 36:14Speaker 12: Tell people you get used to doing things and you
- 36:18Speaker 12: create that confidence that you're do. You think yourself can't,
- 36:21Speaker 12: you can't accomplish, and you do it once or twice.
- 36:25Speaker 12: You know what, We're gonna get confidence. And that's what
- 36:28Speaker 12: we did. We played with a lot of confidence, and hell,
- 36:31Speaker 12: we knew it was a state and we ended up
- 36:33Speaker 12: went out there and got it done.
- 36:35Speaker 5: Tony, we really appreciate the time. And Eddie appreciates your life. Yeah, thanks, Jim,
- 36:40Speaker 5: he really appreciate it.
- 36:42Speaker 2: He appreciates you existing all and yeah, everything about you.
- 36:46Speaker 3: Actually.
- 36:47Speaker 5: So you guys follow Tony Casias at Tony Casias on Instagram.
- 36:50Speaker 5: Two time Super Bowl champion, and you know, let's go.
- 36:55Speaker 5: Let's go Chiefs. If you guys like, well, I have way,
- 36:59Speaker 5: I got a bunch of money on the Chiefs.
- 37:00Speaker 2: I bet a bunch of future.
- 37:01Speaker 5: I bet a bunch of futures like way a long
- 37:04Speaker 5: time ago on Kansas City. So we're looking at a
- 37:06Speaker 5: big payout if they happen to win.
- 37:08Speaker 2: So let's go Chiefs.
- 37:10Speaker 3: Yeah, and I support my buddy, So let's go Chiefs.
- 37:12Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 37:13Speaker 11: Yeah, let's go cheef.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Let's go cheese.
- 37:15Speaker 11: Hey. So what I like is the prop bets. What
- 37:18Speaker 11: do you think what's the biggest prop bet for you?
- 37:20Speaker 2: Well, we were gonna we like the over under.
- 37:24Speaker 5: I think it's now it's like twenty one of the
- 37:26Speaker 5: first touchdown, the jersey the first person who scores, And
- 37:30Speaker 5: so we were laying out obviously Debo, but Mahomes.
- 37:35Speaker 2: But he's not gonna rush.
- 37:36Speaker 5: He has no rushing touchdowns the whole year, So I
- 37:41Speaker 5: don't know. To me, it feels like I'm gonna bet
- 37:44Speaker 5: the over on that and hope it's like a Kelsey.
- 37:46Speaker 2: But McCaffrey Brandon Ayuk is a low number two.
- 37:49Speaker 5: But like McCaffrey Kelsey, you know, I think those guys
- 37:53Speaker 5: are who I would bet on scoring.
- 37:54Speaker 2: That's that's our favorite one.
- 37:56Speaker 10: Man.
- 37:57Speaker 12: I thought you were gonna do it over and under.
- 37:58Speaker 12: How many times are gonna shaw Taylor's You.
- 38:01Speaker 5: Know, I've learned not to really talk about that. You know,
- 38:03Speaker 5: I feel that the the power of the Swifties when
- 38:08Speaker 5: I am.
- 38:08Speaker 11: Not I'm sorry, I just had I had to throw
- 38:11Speaker 11: that out hey.
- 38:12Speaker 2: And I'm glad you did. But swift you heard it.
- 38:14Speaker 2: It wasn't me.
- 38:15Speaker 5: Swifties and whatever number that is, it's going to be
- 38:17Speaker 5: over probably unless she hides.
- 38:21Speaker 11: Yeah. I love yeah, I love I love the prop bets.
- 38:25Speaker 12: We did a Super Bowl party before the's like twenty
- 38:27Speaker 12: five questions and you know how long the national anthem is?
- 38:30Speaker 12: How you know who they which coach are going to
- 38:32Speaker 12: show first? And you know which just this different thing
- 38:36Speaker 12: is pretty cool to the bet prop bets. But man,
- 38:38Speaker 12: I really appreciate you guys having me on here. This
- 38:40Speaker 12: is true and honor. I appreciate love your show, my
- 38:45Speaker 12: boy man. Thanks for the thanks for the Champ comments
- 38:50Speaker 12: that that that made by day.
- 38:52Speaker 2: You got it, Champ anytime, all right, Tony, see you
- 38:56Speaker 2: letter buddy, Peace out.

- 40:03Speaker 5: talk now with witch Toss State head coach Paul Mills
- 40:06Speaker 5: from our show Too Much Access. Coach Mills was an
- 40:08Speaker 5: assistant at Baylor for fourteen seasons before going to Oral
- 40:11Speaker 5: Roberts and now witch Toll State. He talked about his
- 40:14Speaker 5: inability to sit during games because of an old injury,
- 40:16Speaker 5: and we really liked him.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Good dude, here is coach Mills.
- 40:20Speaker 5: Coach, thanks for having us. We noticed there's a game
- 40:23Speaker 5: on now when we're here.
- 40:25Speaker 4: What's like ten am?
- 40:25Speaker 10: Yes?
- 40:26Speaker 5: Early, this game can't be live because you're not there.
- 40:28Speaker 5: So do you ever choose to show bad games? Or
- 40:31Speaker 5: is it only wins on the screen in the locker
- 40:33Speaker 5: room one?
- 40:34Speaker 13: I have no idea what game it is, So I'm
- 40:36Speaker 13: not responsible for that. But there's no reason in the
- 40:39Speaker 13: world to relive bad games. You know, you're probably trying
- 40:42Speaker 13: to relive good experiences. So I can promise you I've
- 40:46Speaker 13: been married for twenty six years. If my wife ever
- 40:49Speaker 13: asked me to watch our wedding video it actually went well.
- 40:53Speaker 13: If it had gone sideways, we wouldn't want to relive that.
- 40:55Speaker 13: So if a game's on, it's probably one we won. Okay,
- 40:58Speaker 13: so it's Saint Louis we win, Yeah, and we win
- 41:02Speaker 13: this for sure? Yeah, yeah, Yeah, that's good.
- 41:04Speaker 5: Do you ever see yourself in even a game you
- 41:06Speaker 5: win and you're kind of maybe, man, I wish I
- 41:08Speaker 5: would have reacted that way, Like I'm kind of embarrassed
- 41:10Speaker 5: by because I do it all the time. I always
- 41:11Speaker 5: embarrassing my own actions. You ever see you react to
- 41:14Speaker 5: something and you think, maybe maybe that's a little too much?
- 41:16Speaker 4: Yes, definitely.
- 41:17Speaker 13: I think any of us, as we're doing anything, we're like,
- 41:21Speaker 13: I could have handled that better.
- 41:22Speaker 4: And you know, it's just an issue of growth, right.
- 41:24Speaker 13: I think people who don't ever want to grow, they
- 41:27Speaker 13: think they're always perfect. But the people who can kind
- 41:30Speaker 13: of look introspectively and say, man, I could have tightened
- 41:32Speaker 13: this up, I could have responded better. I find myself
- 41:35Speaker 13: sometimes doing that with my own children, like we got
- 41:38Speaker 13: in ninety two on the history test instead of a
- 41:42Speaker 13: ninety five and not really, but you kind of do
- 41:47Speaker 13: that with your players, and you learn how to handle
- 41:50Speaker 13: things better.
- 41:51Speaker 5: Being a parent and being a coach similarities there, same thing.
- 41:56Speaker 4: A lot of encouragement.
- 41:57Speaker 13: You recognize when they're down, and you recognize when they
- 42:01Speaker 13: need to be encouraged. You recognize when things aren't going.
- 42:04Speaker 4: Well and you're asking them why.
- 42:07Speaker 13: And the reality is, I'm probably with these guys more
- 42:12Speaker 13: than I am some days with my own family. I mean,
- 42:15Speaker 13: I'm around these guys four hours every day, six days
- 42:19Speaker 13: a week, and then if you're traveling and playing games,
- 42:21Speaker 13: you're probably with them about ten twelve hours a day.
- 42:24Speaker 13: So you're around these guys quite a bit, and you
- 42:27Speaker 13: kind of recognize what works. Some guys are encouragement guys
- 42:30Speaker 13: and you got to tell them how good they're doing.
- 42:32Speaker 13: Other guys are challenge guys. I have little Man syndrome,
- 42:36Speaker 13: and so the more you challenge me, the more I
- 42:39Speaker 13: would kind of all right, I'll prove you wrong. And
- 42:42Speaker 13: so you kind of do you have to know all
- 42:43Speaker 13: the different personalities in the room and how to handle it.
- 42:46Speaker 4: But very similar. I'm a better coach because I'm a parent.
- 42:50Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 42:50Speaker 5: My next question was about leadership, and you talked about
- 42:52Speaker 5: a little bit there because it's on a one size
- 42:54Speaker 5: fits all with different personalities, even with me and my role,
- 42:57Speaker 5: and I have a big staff, and I have to
- 43:00Speaker 5: handle everybody a little differently based on the performance I
- 43:04Speaker 5: can get from them on how they like to be
- 43:06Speaker 5: communicated with where some players like to have it told
- 43:09Speaker 5: and something I just like to have dance around and
- 43:10Speaker 5: like to be soft with them. How do you how
- 43:12Speaker 5: long is the kind of figure out someone's communication style
- 43:15Speaker 5: and method?
- 43:16Speaker 13: Yeah, it takes a while, you know, you have to
- 43:18Speaker 13: spend a lot of time with them. We do a
- 43:19Speaker 13: thing called Mills Mills in my L L S M
- 43:23Speaker 13: E A L S H Mills Mills. Yeah, and so
- 43:28Speaker 13: so we eat every Sunday night.
- 43:29Speaker 4: And oh that's what I thought.
- 43:30Speaker 8: It was.
- 43:33Speaker 4: Whole mill. Let's take me a ls How many triangles
- 43:36Speaker 4: in this triangle?
- 43:37Speaker 5: I'm like, all right, let's go.
- 43:38Speaker 4: Being from Houston, my pronunciation isn't great.
- 43:41Speaker 13: So you kind of got from Arkansas, and so you know,
- 43:46Speaker 13: spending a lot of time in that fellowship where they
- 43:48Speaker 13: get to know each other, We get to know them. Uh,
- 43:51Speaker 13: we quite a bit obviously on the road together. So
- 43:54Speaker 13: being in those situations to where you know, but I
- 43:57Speaker 13: think you can be demanding without being demeaning. You can say, hey,
- 44:01Speaker 13: here's the standard. How do we rise up to it.
- 44:04Speaker 13: We're not going to lower the standard. This is the standard.
- 44:08Speaker 13: How can I help you reach that standard? How can
- 44:11Speaker 13: we make sure that you have the resources and the
- 44:13Speaker 13: people necessary in order to get to where you need
- 44:15Speaker 13: to go. I can recall one day somebody in the
- 44:19Speaker 13: office said, man, can I get you know what I
- 44:21Speaker 13: need to help me? I need a paper cutter. It's say,
- 44:23Speaker 13: all right, next morning, try to stop by target and
- 44:28Speaker 13: you hey, here's a bow with a paper cutter on it.
- 44:31Speaker 4: That's going to help you. I don't know how it's
- 44:32Speaker 4: going to.
- 44:33Speaker 13: Help you, but if that's going to help us be
- 44:35Speaker 13: more efficient, those are the things you want to do.
- 44:37Speaker 13: And so I think you're just constantly this is the standard,
- 44:40Speaker 13: this is what needs to get done.
- 44:43Speaker 4: We're not going to lower it.
- 44:45Speaker 13: We can be demanding without being demeaning, but you need
- 44:48Speaker 13: to tell us what you want out of this so
- 44:52Speaker 13: that we can help you, provide the resources, provide the
- 44:55Speaker 13: people in order to get to wherever it is we're.
- 44:57Speaker 10: Trying to go.
- 44:58Speaker 5: Just so you know, coach, so a coach, I coach
- 45:01Speaker 5: my son's ten year old basketball team.
- 45:03Speaker 4: To say so.
- 45:04Speaker 3: But after a game, coach, I'm exhausted. Yeah, Like sometimes
- 45:09Speaker 3: it's Saturday morning, eleven o'clock game. Afterwards, I'm like, I
- 45:12Speaker 3: need a beer, Like I'm so tired from just screaming
- 45:16Speaker 3: and stressing and yelling.
- 45:17Speaker 4: Are you exhausted after a game depends.
- 45:20Speaker 13: On the game, but you're definitely pretty fatigued. There's just
- 45:24Speaker 13: so much prep work. So we'll give a scouting report
- 45:28Speaker 13: to our players, and it'll be about one hundred and
- 45:31Speaker 13: twenty hours committed to that specific scouting report. And you
- 45:35Speaker 13: have to keep it really, really simple. So all the
- 45:38Speaker 13: preparation and the work that goes into presenting that information
- 45:42Speaker 13: to your players to help them on the court, that
- 45:45Speaker 13: takes a lot. The practices leading up to it take
- 45:48Speaker 13: a lot. The game takes a lot. That's probably the most.
- 45:51Speaker 13: But I have so much adrenaline flowing in me after
- 45:54Speaker 13: the game, whether we win or lose. If you win,
- 45:58Speaker 13: you're kind of like, all right, if we lose, You're like,
- 46:02Speaker 13: what went wrong? And I'm just so anxious to jump
- 46:05Speaker 13: into the film usually takes me about eight hours after
- 46:09Speaker 13: a game. So let's say a game seven o'clock. I
- 46:12Speaker 13: get home ten thirty eleven. I'm usually pulling all nighters.
- 46:16Speaker 13: I usually go to about seven am, breaking down the
- 46:20Speaker 13: game and figuring everything out. If we win by a lot,
- 46:22Speaker 13: sometimes I'll cut it down by like after two or
- 46:25Speaker 13: three and say, I'm gonna get back to this in
- 46:26Speaker 13: the morning. But what happens in conference is you only
- 46:29Speaker 13: get one day off sometimes between games. I don't know
- 46:33Speaker 13: how football coaches do it, because if you lose, I
- 46:35Speaker 13: couldn't wait another week. So I do like basketball, it's like,
- 46:39Speaker 13: all right, forty eight hours, we'll get another chance. But
- 46:42Speaker 13: I find the adrenaline. I am tired, but it's like
- 46:45Speaker 13: I gotta fight through this because we got another team
- 46:47Speaker 13: to prepare for in forty eight hours.
- 46:50Speaker 5: Has it ever been so bad that you buried the
- 46:51Speaker 5: tape and don't watch it?
- 46:52Speaker 8: Like the game was so bad?
- 46:53Speaker 4: Done, don't I can't ever recall that.
- 47:00Speaker 13: Baylor for fourteen years prior to going to Oarl Roberts
- 47:04Speaker 13: and We lost a lot of games by fifty my
- 47:08Speaker 13: first four years, you know, going against Kevin Durant and
- 47:11Speaker 13: Blake Griffin and really good players in the Big Twelve.
- 47:15Speaker 13: And so there were days there that we forgot about
- 47:18Speaker 13: the tape and just kind of moved on. But it's
- 47:21Speaker 13: different now as a head coach because you feel that
- 47:24Speaker 13: these are the it's on us and the staff to
- 47:28Speaker 13: tighten these areas up, and so I haven't. I don't
- 47:31Speaker 13: believe as a head coach.
- 47:33Speaker 5: Has it ever really been your fault, because coach will
- 47:35Speaker 5: be like that one's on me, but I always feel
- 47:36Speaker 5: like they're just taking the bullet.
- 47:37Speaker 4: No, it's been my fault. So I'll tell you this.
- 47:40Speaker 13: When we played in the Sweet sixteen game in twenty
- 47:42Speaker 13: twenty one, when I was at Oarl Roberts, we lost
- 47:44Speaker 13: by two points to tell Arkansas, Yeah, Arkansas's.
- 47:49Speaker 4: Come on, man, you know what Paul Mills got.
- 47:51Speaker 13: Paul Mills got a technical that allowed Arkansas to get
- 47:55Speaker 13: too free.
- 47:56Speaker 4: Throughout love you remember that, I love you? Oh yeah,
- 47:58Speaker 4: And in my mind it's man, I could have handled
- 48:02Speaker 4: that better.
- 48:03Speaker 13: And you just if you ever coach a Sweet sixteen
- 48:05Speaker 13: game and it doesn't go your way, lose by fifty
- 48:09Speaker 13: instead of losing by two. Losing by two keeps you
- 48:12Speaker 13: up at nights. But I do, yeah, I totally you
- 48:15Speaker 13: got to own it. That's on you, and I could
- 48:18Speaker 13: have done better. Although we did go on a fifteen
- 48:21Speaker 13: to four run right after the technical and kind of
- 48:25Speaker 13: I just like that, and so so any of that
- 48:28Speaker 13: you do kind of have to think through it. But yeah,
- 48:31Speaker 13: I definitely think from my perspective, it's on me.
- 48:35Speaker 5: What about like, schematically, have you ever just planned wrong?
- 48:38Speaker 13: Oh my goodness, yes, really yeah. And it's easy to
- 48:42Speaker 13: say all your players they didn't get it done. That's
- 48:45Speaker 13: just easy to throw your guys under the bus. But no,
- 48:49Speaker 13: definitely planned wrong. Didn't think a guy who, hey, this
- 48:52Speaker 13: only makes twenty percent of his three point shots. All right,
- 48:55Speaker 13: we're gonna give him some looks. And what he is
- 48:59Speaker 13: is he's a confident kid. So he sees those first one.
- 49:02Speaker 13: You want him to make the first one if they're
- 49:04Speaker 13: bad shooters, because what you know is they'll keep shooting. Like,
- 49:07Speaker 13: all right, the bad shooter made one, he's going to
- 49:10Speaker 13: continue to do it. Then he makes a second one,
- 49:13Speaker 13: you're like ugh, And the third one you're like, holy
- 49:16Speaker 13: Cole you can do now, he's just feeling it. That
- 49:18Speaker 13: match is lit and you can't put it out. And
- 49:21Speaker 13: I've done that before to where you just made a
- 49:25Speaker 13: mistake on some personnel calls alle oops.
- 49:28Speaker 3: We love watching him as a fan, but as a coach,
- 49:31Speaker 3: do you like do you like alle oops? Or yeah,
- 49:34Speaker 3: like you know, let's just do the safe playing.
- 49:37Speaker 10: No.
- 49:37Speaker 13: So the best shot in basketball is a dunker layup.
- 49:40Speaker 13: So we're trying to get as many of those as possible.
- 49:43Speaker 13: And if you can have guys who can go up
- 49:46Speaker 13: and fetch that stuff, it's pretty one. It's it's an
- 49:50Speaker 13: electric play. But to be honest with you, it's a
- 49:52Speaker 13: good play. Like if you could just grab a ball
- 49:55Speaker 13: and you're above the rim and you just tip it down,
- 49:57Speaker 13: that's a pretty high, highly official shot, high percentage shots.
- 50:01Speaker 13: So we have guys who can go get those, and
- 50:04Speaker 13: we encourage you. We have a number of them in
- 50:07Speaker 13: our in our playbook and really try to Now the
- 50:10Speaker 13: key is not necessarily you do have to have somebody
- 50:13Speaker 13: with the athletic ability, but you have to have a passer.
- 50:16Speaker 4: You have to have a guy who can actually put
- 50:18Speaker 4: it there. But no, we we I'm a big fan.
- 50:21Speaker 4: How often do you practice allioops?
- 50:23Speaker 3: Is that kind of one part of one of the practices.
- 50:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I think like they're in't like, hey, this is
- 50:27Speaker 4: an alley oops. Sell you out here?
- 50:29Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 50:30Speaker 4: Yeah, we don't do any of that.
- 50:31Speaker 13: But during the normal flow of just man, he here goes,
- 50:35Speaker 13: here goes player development, and here are guards practicing pick
- 50:40Speaker 13: and rolls.
- 50:41Speaker 4: Just hey, what are the reads? Where do you throw it?
- 50:43Speaker 4: When do I throw it? What's the timing?
- 50:46Speaker 8: All of that.
- 50:47Speaker 13: It's pretty organic, and then there are some some things
- 50:49Speaker 13: that are structured in order to get the same opportunity.
- 50:52Speaker 5: You talk about hyh percented shots. There's a coach like Nato.
- 50:54Speaker 5: It's at Alabama and notoriously they talk about how he
- 50:57Speaker 5: only wants shots near the basket or behind a three
- 51:00Speaker 5: point line, no real mid range. What is your philosophy
- 51:03Speaker 5: on the mid range? Well, I was just we were
- 51:05Speaker 5: talking this morning as a staff.
- 51:07Speaker 13: If you look at twenty thirteen, there's only two players
- 51:09Speaker 13: who have better than a fifty percent range from long twos.
- 51:14Speaker 13: Katie's one of them. Can you guess the other? Lebron No, No, Lebron,
- 51:19Speaker 13: Chris Paul, Chris Paul. So there are two hundred and
- 51:22Speaker 13: thirty three didn't go out of the time to guess, Coach.
- 51:26Speaker 11: I silent you.
- 51:27Speaker 5: Guys, I would have got that right, and coach you
- 51:29Speaker 5: put us on the spot.
- 51:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm sorry.
- 51:30Speaker 13: I let you guys up and I saw the easy
- 51:32Speaker 13: trivia question that one, and I would have flunked, telling
- 51:36Speaker 13: y'all like twenty eight days in a month.
- 51:40Speaker 4: But going back to there's.
- 51:42Speaker 13: Only two and so what you you would what you
- 51:46Speaker 13: try to find out is what what are ways that
- 51:49Speaker 13: are quality mid range shot? Now I'm not anti mid
- 51:52Speaker 13: range whereas some coaches are.
- 51:55Speaker 10: I'm not.
- 51:55Speaker 13: I think there's value in it in certain responsibilities what
- 51:59Speaker 13: we would call pushdowns, being able to get close to
- 52:02Speaker 13: the guards, basically posting people up through the dribble, and
- 52:08Speaker 13: I think those are highly percentage shots. I think if
- 52:10Speaker 13: you can get ball screen twos, man, I can get
- 52:13Speaker 13: to the elbow, which is what Chris Paul does a lot.
- 52:16Speaker 4: If you have guys.
- 52:17Speaker 13: But we show our guys their numbers and we ask
- 52:20Speaker 13: them to be if you take these twos, you need
- 52:22Speaker 13: to be able to make over fifty percent. So we
- 52:24Speaker 13: show them their numbers pretty much after at least every day,
- 52:29Speaker 13: if not every other day, so they're well aware of
- 52:32Speaker 13: it and if it's efficient, we're going.
- 52:34Speaker 10: To do it.
- 52:35Speaker 4: But I'm not anti middlegame.
- 52:37Speaker 5: We have three final questions for you taking over this program.
- 52:41Speaker 5: You come and is a culture change that you have
- 52:44Speaker 5: brought in? Is it, you know, a culture elevation from
- 52:47Speaker 5: what's been here? Like when you come into a new program,
- 52:49Speaker 5: don't have to be here, could be ru wherever. Like
- 52:51Speaker 5: what is your mindset when you go into a new place? Yeah,
- 52:54Speaker 5: it's the people. You know, there's nothing magical about any
- 52:58Speaker 5: specific school. Just because you have a certain jersey on
- 53:02Speaker 5: on the front of it doesn't mean you're going to win.
- 53:04Speaker 5: The people have to matter. So whatever it is that
- 53:07Speaker 5: we can do in order to help the people. So,
- 53:10Speaker 5: you know, when I got to hear the guys asked
- 53:13Speaker 5: for PlayStations, it's like, hey, we don't have PS fives
- 53:17Speaker 5: And I was like, dundal, you know, they had an
- 53:21Speaker 5: older refrigerator and I just came in and said, man,
- 53:23Speaker 5: we need to get a newer refrigerator. And so some
- 53:25Speaker 5: of it's just like how do we help the players.
- 53:28Speaker 5: And so in my mind, let's get the right people.
- 53:31Speaker 5: Let's get the right people in here, and then how
- 53:34Speaker 5: do we help them? Like, what are the things that
- 53:35Speaker 5: we can do to help them? I mean, again, everybody
- 53:38Speaker 5: talks about well, you need to have excellence in all things.
- 53:41Speaker 13: I just think you're not going to have the best
- 53:43Speaker 13: of everything, but you do need to take excellent care
- 53:47Speaker 13: of what you are stewarded with. And for us, that's
- 53:50Speaker 13: the people. We want to take excellent care of them
- 53:53Speaker 13: and make sure we have the right guys in the
- 53:55Speaker 13: locker room. From a character standpoint, and that's kind of
- 53:59Speaker 13: how you make strides.
- 54:01Speaker 4: Coach.
- 54:01Speaker 3: We were talking about fishing a second ago before we
- 54:03Speaker 3: started here. What do you like about fishing? Because I
- 54:05Speaker 3: was talking to my wife she asked me, and I said,
- 54:07Speaker 3: it's kind of like the lottery.
- 54:08Speaker 4: You know, you kind of just go in.
- 54:10Speaker 3: You don't know you're gonna hit it or not. You
- 54:11Speaker 3: don't know if they're gonna bite or not. But some
- 54:13Speaker 3: days you get a good one.
- 54:14Speaker 4: Yeah, what do you like? So you're familiar with live scope?
- 54:18Speaker 4: Ever heard this turbine fishing?
- 54:20Speaker 8: All right?
- 54:20Speaker 4: So this is a video game, all right?
- 54:23Speaker 13: So on your boat is a TV and you can
- 54:26Speaker 13: see them and you can see them swimming down there,
- 54:29Speaker 13: and you kind of know and you're basically going up
- 54:33Speaker 13: and throwing the minto or sounds like cheating. Listen, you
- 54:37Speaker 13: can't get them to bite. As I tell people, it
- 54:41Speaker 13: doesn't mean they're gonna bite. They may have just had
- 54:43Speaker 13: a steak dinner, all right, and they had shad all night,
- 54:47Speaker 13: and all of a sudden, if you just give them
- 54:49Speaker 13: a snickers, they don't want it. So having the things
- 54:54Speaker 13: necessary to help them is important.
- 54:57Speaker 4: Can I get a water?
- 54:58Speaker 5: I'm giving it for those they can't see. I'm going
- 55:00Speaker 5: coach the Heimlich right now. I'm saving his life. You guys,
- 55:02Speaker 5: their only listen to the audio this, I got you.
- 55:04Speaker 5: There he goes, Yep, got him. I just saved his
- 55:07Speaker 5: life for everybody watching. Oh there you okay, Okay, good Patty.
- 55:11Speaker 3: I think he's breathing.
- 55:12Speaker 10: He's breathing.
- 55:12Speaker 5: Now he's save Okay, there is eddie mouth mouth.
- 55:16Speaker 4: Okay, give him there he go. Coach, open up, all right,
- 55:18Speaker 4: I'm coming in.
- 55:19Speaker 2: All right, there he is.
- 55:20Speaker 5: Now you can't pass. Your life is being saved. Can
- 55:22Speaker 5: you imagine you're gonna save someone's life in his No? No, no,
- 55:26Speaker 5: we're good, Please not you last question?
- 55:28Speaker 11: All right?
- 55:28Speaker 4: Yeah, all good?
- 55:29Speaker 5: Because I was having some of those peanuts too, and
- 55:31Speaker 5: I got a little bit of that. I thought I
- 55:32Speaker 5: was gonna sue. But if it's happening here, Uh So,
- 55:36Speaker 5: you don't sit down when you coach, or at least
- 55:38Speaker 5: I've never seen you sit down. I know you had
- 55:39Speaker 5: the injury that kept you from, uh continue your basketball career?
- 55:42Speaker 5: Is that why you don't sit down? Because you're back
- 55:43Speaker 5: You're vertebrae bad back.
- 55:45Speaker 13: Like and then all of a sudden, if you just
- 55:47Speaker 13: jump up at the last second because somebody makes a
- 55:50Speaker 13: good player a bad play, then I really feel it.
- 55:52Speaker 13: So it's it's easier for me to stand there. There's
- 55:56Speaker 13: a coach who I used to spend my summers with
- 55:58Speaker 13: named Rick Majeris.
- 56:00Speaker 4: He would stand all the time.
- 56:01Speaker 5: You would you hang out Rick with Jerris?
- 56:03Speaker 13: I love rings, Yeah, yeah, And when he passed away,
- 56:07Speaker 13: he was just so supportive of me and helped me
- 56:10Speaker 13: a ton. But he couldn't sit down because of his weight.
- 56:14Speaker 13: He was just so big and it was hard for
- 56:16Speaker 13: him sometimes. But for me, Uh I did. I cracked
- 56:19Speaker 13: my bottom vertebrae on my spine, and if I set
- 56:22Speaker 13: in bleachers or I sit anywhere too long, my back
- 56:25Speaker 13: can lock up. And so It's just best that it
- 56:28Speaker 13: doesn't happen in front of ten thousand people, so I
- 56:32Speaker 13: just stay standing the whole game.
- 56:33Speaker 5: I should get you like one of those sleep numbers
- 56:35Speaker 5: that we have that brings your back up. You know
- 56:39Speaker 5: who had that was Phil Jackson. Phil Jackson had one
- 56:41Speaker 5: of those bigger chairs than everybody that really helped him
- 56:44Speaker 5: with his back. So I could get one of those
- 56:46Speaker 5: where you press a button and then it just kind
- 56:48Speaker 5: of lifts you.
- 56:50Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 56:50Speaker 4: Perfect, and yeah, that would be That would be the coach.
- 56:53Speaker 4: We really appreciate the time. Good luck with the program.
- 56:56Speaker 5: I know everybody's excited about having you here, and by everybody,
- 56:58Speaker 5: I mean Eddie and I. We don't to anybody else
- 57:01Speaker 5: saying bubble, thanks for having.
- 57:02Speaker 4: Us, Eddie, Bobby, thank you guys for coming. Thank you coach.
- 57:06Speaker 5: All right now, this is us talking with which TOAs
- 57:08Speaker 5: state assistant coach Quincy ac Quincy played four Coach Mills
- 57:11Speaker 5: at Baylor eight to twenty twelve. When coach Mills was
- 57:14Speaker 5: assistant there draft in the second round of the twenty
- 57:16Speaker 5: twelve NBA by the Raptors, and he took us through
- 57:18Speaker 5: some drills which you can watch on Too Much Access
- 57:21Speaker 5: and here he is.
- 57:22Speaker 2: It's just talking NBA, which is cool with Quincy ac coach.
- 57:25Speaker 5: If you saw us walking in the gym and like
- 57:26Speaker 5: we were here to try out, look exactly like.
- 57:29Speaker 10: This first glance. Well, if you hear that means you
- 57:32Speaker 10: you you want to be exactly that's the most important thing.
- 57:35Speaker 10: So that's half the battle. You want to be here.
- 57:37Speaker 10: I can, I can. I can work with that.
- 57:39Speaker 7: Okay, But what's the other half, because you probably think
- 57:41Speaker 7: the other half.
- 57:41Speaker 10: Is you know, a lot of hat on. You know,
- 57:44Speaker 10: I don't know if the shoes are tied all the way.
- 57:46Speaker 10: I don't know if you guys will be ready, you know.
- 57:47Speaker 7: Don't my shooes aren't type Yeah it has a strap.
- 57:50Speaker 10: Yeah, and I don't know.
- 57:51Speaker 7: These are ones without shoes, Okay, I see, yes.
- 57:54Speaker 10: Okay, yeah, I don't know how that will hold up.
- 57:57Speaker 10: You know, somebody has some nice.
- 57:59Speaker 7: Handle, but I don't have any of that nice handle.
- 58:01Speaker 3: Nothing.
- 58:01Speaker 10: We'll get you right.
- 58:02Speaker 7: Whenever when you're in the league, do you get free shoes?
- 58:06Speaker 10: Yes, either you're responsored by a company, Nike, Adidas, whatever
- 58:11Speaker 10: or whatever. The league is sponsored by Nike Adidas. They
- 58:14Speaker 10: have shoes.
- 58:15Speaker 7: It's unlimited.
- 58:16Speaker 10: I mean to a certain extent.
- 58:18Speaker 7: In two k you can choose who you are.
- 58:20Speaker 10: Yes, it's not that easy.
- 58:24Speaker 7: I left coins.
- 58:25Speaker 10: I mean they give you money, but it's not really
- 58:27Speaker 10: I guess it's VC virtual currencies. You don't really see this.
- 58:31Speaker 5: All currencies virtual that's in a bank in ant number.
- 58:34Speaker 5: How has it been adjusting to not being that dude?
- 58:38Speaker 5: But now you've got to be this dude, the coach,
- 58:39Speaker 5: that's the leader, not the player.
- 58:40Speaker 10: Yeah. I mean it's a big ego check. You know,
- 58:42Speaker 10: that's a that's the main thing. Check your ego at
- 58:44Speaker 10: the door every day. Realize that these these dudes don't
- 58:47Speaker 10: care about what you did in the past. You know,
- 58:49Speaker 10: they want to know how can you help them and
- 58:51Speaker 10: if you care enough about them. So that's the biggest adjustment.
- 58:54Speaker 10: But I mean it comes naturally. My mom was a teacher,
- 58:56Speaker 10: My grandmother was a teacher, So I get a great
- 58:59Speaker 10: joy out of its.
- 59:00Speaker 7: Coaching always what you wanted to do after you finish
- 59:02Speaker 7: your playing career.
- 59:03Speaker 10: Yes, I think so. My mom she kind of she
- 59:05Speaker 10: spotted it early. She told me I would be a coach,
- 59:08Speaker 10: but I think it took a longer time for me
- 59:10Speaker 10: to accept it. And then once injuries kind of started
- 59:12Speaker 10: piling up. I had to kind of accept it a
- 59:14Speaker 10: little quicker.
- 59:15Speaker 5: When you're a professional and you are getting injuries, do
- 59:17Speaker 5: you want to not have people know you have injuries
- 59:20Speaker 5: so they don't know to move you down the bench
- 59:22Speaker 5: or off the team.
- 59:23Speaker 7: You try to like get through it, not even fake it,
- 59:25Speaker 7: but just try not to make it a thing.
- 59:26Speaker 10: No, definitely, definitely try to tough through it because I
- 59:28Speaker 10: mean there are people right behind you waiting to take
- 59:30Speaker 10: your spot, so you know, you have to have a
- 59:33Speaker 10: high pain tolerance and try to muscle through some stuff.
- 59:36Speaker 3: All these assistant coaches sitting back there, like what's your
- 59:39Speaker 3: job during the game. Do you focusing on a player
- 59:41Speaker 3: or are you looking at something specific?
- 59:43Speaker 10: Yeah, so I'm kind of looking at it all. You know.
- 59:45Speaker 10: The coaches on the front of the bench, we're all
- 59:46Speaker 10: kind of have an eye for everything. If it's your scout,
- 59:49Speaker 10: looking for play calls, looking for tendencies with the players
- 59:52Speaker 10: that's on the court, and a lot of the guys
- 59:54Speaker 10: behind the bench they have different roles. You know, they
- 59:56Speaker 10: have hustle points after time out plays, you know, it's
- 1:00:02Speaker 10: a playthrough of different things.
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: But I get a lot of hustle points point I
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: scored that That's what I do. Yeah, like one hundred
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: hustle points and zero game point.
- 1:00:09Speaker 10: You can make a living that, Yeah, exactly.
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: The transition from playing the NBA to coaching at college
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: like baseline sideline, like there are a lot of different
- 1:00:16Speaker 5: things that you can and can't do and both. So
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: was it natural to come back and coach in college?
- 1:00:21Speaker 5: You have to kind of re learn the rules because
- 1:00:23Speaker 5: there are some small differences.
- 1:00:25Speaker 10: Yeah, it's a lot of difference. It's actually there's not
- 1:00:27Speaker 10: as many sideline out of bounds plays as it is
- 1:00:29Speaker 10: in the NBA. You know, it's just more so kind
- 1:00:32Speaker 10: of get the ball in. There's no defensive three seconds
- 1:00:34Speaker 10: in the NBA, so you know, you can plan to
- 1:00:37Speaker 10: attack a lot differently. So you know, it's an adjustment
- 1:00:41Speaker 10: and I want to come back to kind of like
- 1:00:43Speaker 10: you said, kind of go back to the grassrooms to
- 1:00:45Speaker 10: learn the ins and out is what it is. I'm
- 1:00:47Speaker 10: looking for in players. What do young talent look like nowadays?
- 1:00:50Speaker 8: You know?
- 1:00:51Speaker 10: So, yes, college was a great choice for me.
- 1:00:53Speaker 7: What do people see in you as an eighteen nineteen
- 1:00:55Speaker 7: year old player.
- 1:00:57Speaker 10: I think that passion, they see that I played, They
- 1:01:00Speaker 10: see that I care. I come out here, I kind
- 1:01:02Speaker 10: of talk a little trash, you know, they can relate
- 1:01:04Speaker 10: a little bit. And I've done what they've done or
- 1:01:07Speaker 10: trying to do, you know what I mean. So I've
- 1:01:09Speaker 10: been through all the spoils, all of the hard times.
- 1:01:13Speaker 10: I know what it looks like, and I have a
- 1:01:15Speaker 10: different perspective. You know, it's a different I from the
- 1:01:17Speaker 10: sideline as it than it is when you're on the court,
- 1:01:20Speaker 10: you know, So I can kind of give them that perspective.
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: What coach saw you at eighteen nineteen and invested a
- 1:01:25Speaker 5: lot in you to make sure that you be the
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: guy to go to next level.
- 1:01:28Speaker 10: Coach Mills the head coach here. You know, he recruited
- 1:01:30Speaker 10: me at Baylor when I was fifteen, and you know
- 1:01:34Speaker 10: he was responsible for rebounding all my bricks that I
- 1:01:38Speaker 10: was shooting up in college and we just built a
- 1:01:40Speaker 10: great relationship. But he saw it early, you know, he
- 1:01:42Speaker 10: saw the competitiveness, the passion, and the skill. He knew
- 1:01:46Speaker 10: that that would come along, you know with just what
- 1:01:48Speaker 10: hard work. Fifteen yeah, fifteen years old.
- 1:01:50Speaker 7: How many star recruit were you?
- 1:01:52Speaker 10: I think I was a four star recruit.
- 1:01:53Speaker 7: You don't remember, I know, I'd have a tattooed Onmber.
- 1:01:57Speaker 10: In the middle star. Yeah, that would be.
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: I'd be so proud of it.
- 1:02:03Speaker 5: I mean, I want to dance with the Start, and
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: I got a mirrorball trophy on my arm somewhere there,
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: so if I had Start, it'd be like.
- 1:02:08Speaker 11: All the way up and dancing with the starts.
- 1:02:10Speaker 7: You believe that, you know, look at me like pure athlete.
- 1:02:12Speaker 10: I don't never judge the book by scope.
- 1:02:14Speaker 7: That's right, you know, but that could also be interpreted
- 1:02:17Speaker 7: as an insult because that's how you look at exactly
- 1:02:20Speaker 7: how you look at it.
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: Coach, what do you do with a player that's just
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: kind of you know, not really just moving as hard
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: as you should or playing as far as you should, Like,
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: how do you motivate someone like that?
- 1:02:32Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean each player is different, you know, different
- 1:02:34Speaker 10: things kind of gets different players going. Some guys you
- 1:02:37Speaker 10: can kind of challenge, Some guys you can kind of
- 1:02:39Speaker 10: call out in front of everybody. Some guys you got
- 1:02:41Speaker 10: to kind of go up and see what's going on
- 1:02:43Speaker 10: behind closed doors. It's different for each guy, and you know,
- 1:02:48Speaker 10: you have to really be careful, you know, because if
- 1:02:51Speaker 10: you yell at a guy that doesn't respond well to that.
- 1:02:53Speaker 10: You know, now he shuts down and now you can't
- 1:02:55Speaker 10: get anything out of him. So you know, it is
- 1:02:58Speaker 10: it's a learning curve and that aspect.
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: You know, when you're playing in the league, who was
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: the hardest guy that you had to guard?
- 1:03:06Speaker 10: I tell people that my toughest matchup was when I
- 1:03:09Speaker 10: was with the New York Knicks going against LaMarcus Audridge.
- 1:03:13Speaker 10: He was in the contract year.
- 1:03:14Speaker 7: So he's trying real hard.
- 1:03:15Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, a lot more to play for, and I
- 1:03:18Speaker 10: think the Knicks were interested in him, so it was
- 1:03:20Speaker 10: even more. I think he probably scored on me seven
- 1:03:23Speaker 10: times in a row, not seven points, like seven times.
- 1:03:26Speaker 7: And points point.
- 1:03:28Speaker 10: These were real baskets, So that that gave me my
- 1:03:31Speaker 10: toughest matchup. But overall, you know, guys like lebron kd
- 1:03:36Speaker 10: you know, they're just so big and so skilled. It's
- 1:03:39Speaker 10: so hard to guard them.
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: You play with Carmelo in New York, I did so
- 1:03:42Speaker 5: Carmela could shoot. Carmelo was big, Like what what what
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: was he like as a teammate and what was it?
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: That's a rare combination at least. Then now guys are
- 1:03:49Speaker 5: getting a lot bigger with a lot more ball skills
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: at able to shoot a lot better like that. He
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: I mean, he's kind of a That was a very
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: rare thing from Carmelo or playing Syracuse.
- 1:03:58Speaker 7: What was that dude like to play with?
- 1:04:00Speaker 10: Carmelo Man? I saw him this summer at the Top
- 1:04:02Speaker 10: one hundred camp. His son was there, so I got
- 1:04:04Speaker 10: a chance to kind of catch up with him. Great dude,
- 1:04:06Speaker 10: great teammate. Off the court, just unbelievable and on the court,
- 1:04:10Speaker 10: I mean, he's just a competitor. You know, he's gonna
- 1:04:12Speaker 10: he's gonna make you feel him whenever you guard him.
- 1:04:14Speaker 10: You know, he's always bumping you, pulling on You've heard
- 1:04:18Speaker 10: all the recordings of you know, how he talks when
- 1:04:20Speaker 10: he's getting the rebounds and stuff. So that's just who
- 1:04:23Speaker 10: he is. You know, He's a competitor and just a
- 1:04:25Speaker 10: great guy.
- 1:04:26Speaker 5: Said the Pelicans try to get it back this year
- 1:04:28Speaker 5: after after he recover. What if they call what if
- 1:04:31Speaker 5: the Pelicans called you today? Can you give us ten games?
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: Coach?
- 1:04:36Speaker 7: What about seventy? Could you give him seventy seventy?
- 1:04:39Speaker 10: My body would break down for sure.
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: Two final questions, best shooter that you've ever played with
- 1:04:45Speaker 5: or against against?
- 1:04:48Speaker 10: Steph Curry. What's that like?
- 1:04:49Speaker 7: Is he just is he just non stop?
- 1:04:52Speaker 10: He doesn't stop moving? It was I was in the
- 1:04:55Speaker 10: same game.
- 1:04:56Speaker 11: It was.
- 1:04:56Speaker 10: I think it was when Clay was kind of going
- 1:04:58Speaker 10: back and forth with Omary cast but it was just
- 1:05:01Speaker 10: like mad shot. Clay made a shot, made shot, Steph
- 1:05:05Speaker 10: made a shot. It was the about six trips back
- 1:05:07Speaker 10: and forth with nobody missed. Craziest thing I've ever been
- 1:05:10Speaker 10: a part of. And then the best shooter I've played with.
- 1:05:17Speaker 10: I gotta say Dirk Whiskey, but Steve Novak is very
- 1:05:20Speaker 10: high on that list. He was a sniper, you know.
- 1:05:23Speaker 10: I mean it was no no meat on that or
- 1:05:26Speaker 10: no fat on that shot. You know, he straight to
- 1:05:29Speaker 10: it and it's all net.
- 1:05:31Speaker 5: Yeah, no, no, you're all fat. Yeah you heard him wrong,
- 1:05:35Speaker 5: you heard them wrong. Last question, As a coach, what
- 1:05:40Speaker 5: are you about? Like just just straight up like, what
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: are you about.
- 1:05:43Speaker 10: As a coach?
- 1:05:44Speaker 8: Uh?
- 1:05:45Speaker 10: I mean competitiveness Like when I played, I was just competitiveness, competitive.
- 1:05:49Speaker 10: I just had a will to win, you know that
- 1:05:54Speaker 10: couldn't be matched in my opinion, And you know that's
- 1:05:57Speaker 10: kind of what I try to bring out of these guys.
- 1:05:59Speaker 10: Is there everybody you know, everybody has a level of
- 1:06:01Speaker 10: competition and a level if they don't want to lose
- 1:06:04Speaker 10: or whatever in them, and it's just on you as
- 1:06:07Speaker 10: a coach to figure out ways to bring it out
- 1:06:09Speaker 10: of you know. So that's what I'm about, you know,
- 1:06:11Speaker 10: just toughness, greediness.
- 1:06:12Speaker 7: I'm perfect for you.
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: Then there we go.
- 1:06:14Speaker 10: I will to win.
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: I never win, but I have a will.
- 1:06:16Speaker 11: I have a willeck.
- 1:06:16Speaker 7: You've just been with the wrong right, That's it.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: Last step is guard Xavier Bell.
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: Bell spent his first two years a Drexel before coming
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: back to Kansas to play for the Shockers.
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: Super nice guy.
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: You can keep up with Xavier on Instagram at one
- 1:06:28Speaker 5: of one XB here he is Xavier Bell.
- 1:06:32Speaker 7: How many shots you think you get up a day?
- 1:06:33Speaker 10: Save?
- 1:06:34Speaker 8: Uh A good two point fifty just.
- 1:06:38Speaker 5: Regardless, Like at least gonna get two fifty in. Yeah,
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: Eddie was trying to shoot a thousand today.
- 1:06:42Speaker 11: I got to forty seven.
- 1:06:43Speaker 7: I got he got tired. Yeah, So it's any advice
- 1:06:46Speaker 7: you'd like to give him.
- 1:06:47Speaker 14: I just keep going, man, I think forty seven. You're
- 1:06:50Speaker 14: in chipping away a little bit. So you got tiny chips, yeah,
- 1:06:53Speaker 14: eight chips.
- 1:06:55Speaker 5: Yeah. So we were looking at some of your numbers
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: this year right now, I averaged about fifteen game. Do
- 1:07:00Speaker 5: you know where you are point wise during a game?
- 1:07:03Speaker 5: Are you just playing or do you catch up in
- 1:07:04Speaker 5: between halves?
- 1:07:06Speaker 14: They kind of showed on our scoreboard every game, so
- 1:07:09Speaker 14: I kind of look up from time to time, but
- 1:07:11Speaker 14: for the most part, I don't really try and get
- 1:07:12Speaker 14: too caught up in that.
- 1:07:13Speaker 8: I kind of just want to help our team.
- 1:07:15Speaker 7: If you're feeling it, does the bucket feel huge?
- 1:07:17Speaker 5: Does it feel like you can't Are there those moments
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: where you're like, man, I don't know if I can miss.
- 1:07:21Speaker 14: Yeah, I feel like the person in front of me
- 1:07:23Speaker 14: is having a rough night. So I like to just keep,
- 1:07:26Speaker 14: you know, keep going on that.
- 1:07:27Speaker 5: So can you ever identify that before game or is
- 1:07:29Speaker 5: that always in game when you kind of feel like
- 1:07:31Speaker 5: you're in the zone.
- 1:07:32Speaker 14: I try and get my mind right before the game,
- 1:07:33Speaker 14: you know, kind of come in with the right attitudes.
- 1:07:35Speaker 14: You know, it's not really who I'm going against, is
- 1:07:37Speaker 14: really what I can do, So just kind of focus
- 1:07:40Speaker 14: on that, just keep going.
- 1:07:40Speaker 5: For sure, in baseball, if you're throwing really good before
- 1:07:43Speaker 5: the game and the ballpen, that's kind of a bad sign.
- 1:07:47Speaker 5: If you're shooting and you're making everything and shoot around
- 1:07:49Speaker 5: now in basketball, is that good or does that not
- 1:07:51Speaker 5: matter at all?
- 1:07:53Speaker 10: I think it's good.
- 1:07:54Speaker 14: It kind of puts a little bit more confidence in
- 1:07:56Speaker 14: my head already than what already's in there. So I
- 1:07:58Speaker 14: would say a little bit. Sometimes I don't know. I
- 1:08:01Speaker 14: don't like to make a lot just so that way
- 1:08:03Speaker 14: I go in them.
- 1:08:05Speaker 8: Yeah, exactly, exactly, go in the game, start missing, get
- 1:08:08Speaker 8: in my head a little bit more so the stuff
- 1:08:10Speaker 8: like that.
- 1:08:10Speaker 11: It's playing on the road much harder.
- 1:08:12Speaker 10: Is it just the same game?
- 1:08:14Speaker 14: I would say, it's kind of it's more fun just
- 1:08:18Speaker 14: to be able to go into someone else's environment, try
- 1:08:20Speaker 14: and give them your best and hopefully shut up their crowd.
- 1:08:23Speaker 5: So, yeah, what's the best road wind you've ever had?
- 1:08:30Speaker 5: I mean, it just felt good, like that baby has
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: some candy and you walked in it. Took the spreeze
- 1:08:34Speaker 5: by the other hand and ate them all.
- 1:08:36Speaker 14: We played a really good game against Tulane last year
- 1:08:39Speaker 14: at Tulane, I would say, so that was probably a
- 1:08:41Speaker 14: good a good road win for us.
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: I would say, what's the game where you felt collegiately
- 1:08:45Speaker 5: most in the zone, Even if you hadn't scored the
- 1:08:46Speaker 5: most points, like you felt even your passes were super crisp.
- 1:08:50Speaker 8: I would say, so it wasn't here.
- 1:08:54Speaker 14: I was at an old school, but I scored thirty
- 1:08:57Speaker 14: in a game, and I think the flow was just
- 1:08:59Speaker 14: it was just in nature, just keep getting to the buckets.
- 1:09:01Speaker 8: So that was that was probably my best one for sure.
- 1:09:03Speaker 5: Is it like Harry Potter or you don't see the
- 1:09:05Speaker 5: guy's name, like what's the guy's name in Harry Potter Baltimore?
- 1:09:08Speaker 7: Is it like you don't say the school the old school?
- 1:09:10Speaker 6: Yeah, like Baltimore that don't exist exactly.
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: What's it like being an elite athlete in college? Like
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: my college is like we just parted.
- 1:09:20Speaker 8: It's a it's a grind.
- 1:09:21Speaker 14: I think you gotta wake up every day, you know,
- 1:09:23Speaker 14: with the right attitude, right mindset, weights, classes, practice as well,
- 1:09:27Speaker 14: but just making sure you're putting your best foot forward
- 1:09:29Speaker 14: and whatever it is that you do.
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: So, But do you get to have fun like you
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: get to enjoy college?
- 1:09:33Speaker 8: Yeah? Yeah, of course.
- 1:09:34Speaker 14: You know there's off days you kind of you're able
- 1:09:36Speaker 14: to unwind or relax, you know, catch up with old friends,
- 1:09:39Speaker 14: stuff like that family that's closed by I'm from here,
- 1:09:41Speaker 14: so my family's close. But I would say it's nothing,
- 1:09:45Speaker 14: nothing too taxing, especially since I've been doing the sport
- 1:09:47Speaker 14: my whole life.
- 1:09:48Speaker 5: Can you hear your family in the stands since they've
- 1:09:51Speaker 5: always been with you and you know their voices?
- 1:09:53Speaker 14: Nah, but I know where they are, so I like
- 1:09:55Speaker 14: to I like to look over at them from time
- 1:09:57Speaker 14: to time, for sure, my dad especially, but for the
- 1:10:00Speaker 14: most part, you definitely can't hear.
- 1:10:01Speaker 5: That's got to be exciting though, for your family to
- 1:10:03Speaker 5: be able to just drive down the road absolutely like
- 1:10:05Speaker 5: that had to mean a lot to you to come
- 1:10:06Speaker 5: play here too.
- 1:10:07Speaker 8: It, did you know?
- 1:10:08Speaker 14: I went to a school that was about twenty hours
- 1:10:10Speaker 14: away right out of high school, so it was kind
- 1:10:12Speaker 14: of tough for them to get to a bunch of games.
- 1:10:13Speaker 14: But once I was transferred back and everything, it was
- 1:10:16Speaker 14: it was super cool just to see them at all
- 1:10:17Speaker 14: the games that they can come to.
- 1:10:18Speaker 7: Yeah Baltimore you oh right, yeah to Baltimore. Yeah yea yeah,
- 1:10:22Speaker 7: yeah yeah right.
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: Like you talk about your dad, like, is it hard
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: to tell your dad like that, I'm at another level now,
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: Like I got coaches at Oh you know what I.
- 1:10:34Speaker 8: Mean with me is that we got coached.
- 1:10:37Speaker 14: That's funny you said that, because when I first transferred
- 1:10:39Speaker 14: back last year, me and my dad kind of got
- 1:10:41Speaker 14: into it early because he was just so big.
- 1:10:44Speaker 8: On getting in the gym with me doing this, doing that.
- 1:10:47Speaker 8: I'm like, well, I have coaches now who do that
- 1:10:49Speaker 8: for me.
- 1:10:49Speaker 14: And he's like, well, you know, you can never get
- 1:10:52Speaker 14: away from the basics, and I'm like, I understand that,
- 1:10:54Speaker 14: but it's just a different level that you got to
- 1:10:56Speaker 14: kind of do it at now. So it was tough
- 1:11:00Speaker 14: at first, but I think he's got acquainted to it.
- 1:11:02Speaker 11: Just like I have.
- 1:11:03Speaker 5: So if you wanted to shoot around here, could you
- 1:11:06Speaker 5: come in at any time and shoot in the gym?
- 1:11:07Speaker 8: Yeah. So, and the coach staff we have now and
- 1:11:09Speaker 8: everything too.
- 1:11:10Speaker 14: They have a lot of gas on staff who rebound
- 1:11:12Speaker 14: for us, you know, get in the gym whenever we're
- 1:11:14Speaker 14: available and all that. So I like to come in
- 1:11:15Speaker 14: in the morning before class just to get it out
- 1:11:17Speaker 14: the way and then maybe shoot after practice and everything.
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: So somebody to rebound for you, that'll be awesome. Yeah,
- 1:11:22Speaker 5: they've worked a lot harder for us than him.
- 1:11:24Speaker 10: That'd be chasing.
- 1:11:25Speaker 5: We too, We want to chasing. Yeah, what would your
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: teammates say about you. If we asked him and you
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: weren't around, and we said, you know, what's daber all about?
- 1:11:34Speaker 7: What would they say about you?
- 1:11:36Speaker 10: Just the right things.
- 1:11:37Speaker 14: I would just say, you know, trying to be the
- 1:11:38Speaker 14: best leader I can. Obviously I'm not a leader in
- 1:11:40Speaker 14: everyone's eyes, but I just try and do the right
- 1:11:42Speaker 14: thing that I know is right for my team and
- 1:11:45Speaker 14: for everybody around me as well.
- 1:11:46Speaker 7: All right, last three questions. Do you ever play yourself
- 1:11:50Speaker 7: into shape?
- 1:11:50Speaker 5: Is that a thing? Or do you get in shape
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: and you play yourself in a better shape?
- 1:11:54Speaker 8: I would say you play yourself in a better shape,
- 1:11:56Speaker 8: you know.
- 1:11:56Speaker 14: I think coaches do a really good job off season,
- 1:11:58Speaker 14: you know, kind of repairing you for those type of runs,
- 1:12:01Speaker 14: those type of different environments. But I don't think it's
- 1:12:03Speaker 14: up until you get that first win going up against
- 1:12:05Speaker 14: someone who's also been preparing at that same level as you,
- 1:12:08Speaker 14: that you're like, okay, this is what I need to
- 1:12:10Speaker 14: pick it up to now. So then day in and
- 1:12:12Speaker 14: day out, that's where you're just trying to get better
- 1:12:13Speaker 14: and better at you get a two K. No, I
- 1:12:16Speaker 14: don't play, nah I have I haven't bought the new
- 1:12:20Speaker 14: two K I know I'm gonna get crap for that time.
- 1:12:23Speaker 8: Yeah, it's the same though. It's like every year is
- 1:12:26Speaker 8: the same.
- 1:12:27Speaker 14: I've heard twenty four is the best one yet, but
- 1:12:29Speaker 14: I hear that every single time a new two K
- 1:12:31Speaker 14: comes out.
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: Okay, but you got court knowledge, you got you know
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: what you're doing, so when you play the game, you
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: just dominate.
- 1:12:38Speaker 8: My friends would tell you otherwise, but I'm gonna tell
- 1:12:40Speaker 8: you yeah.
- 1:12:41Speaker 7: Yeah, mid range. How you feel about midrange?
- 1:12:45Speaker 10: I like it.
- 1:12:45Speaker 14: I don't take a lot of them. I shoot a
- 1:12:47Speaker 14: lot of floaters more than just pull up mid ranges.
- 1:12:49Speaker 14: But I actually like that part of the game. I
- 1:12:51Speaker 14: think it's a lost art, but it's really good. It's
- 1:12:54Speaker 14: appealing to me. I would say, you ever don't have
- 1:12:57Speaker 14: I ever done?
- 1:12:58Speaker 8: Do you ever?
- 1:12:58Speaker 10: Don't?
- 1:13:00Speaker 8: Not since the season started, But I've dunked this year?
- 1:13:02Speaker 11: Yeah?
- 1:13:03Speaker 7: Yeah, only breakaway or you ever put it on somebody?
- 1:13:06Speaker 8: It was on somebody?
- 1:13:07Speaker 7: This find that clip?
- 1:13:09Speaker 11: Hard?
- 1:13:09Speaker 4: Is it to not hang on the rim like when
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: it's a good dug?
- 1:13:14Speaker 8: Yeah, it's I would say, it's all about you've never
- 1:13:16Speaker 8: dunk in your life?
- 1:13:17Speaker 7: How do you know that's right?
- 1:13:19Speaker 8: You step on the back, I would say, it's all
- 1:13:22Speaker 8: about momentum.
- 1:13:23Speaker 14: So like two hands, it's probably harder not to hang
- 1:13:26Speaker 14: on the rim, but one hand, I think it's all
- 1:13:28Speaker 14: about just getting off the rim and then letting the
- 1:13:30Speaker 14: dude know that you just dunked on them and everything.
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: How would you let him know without the rest knowing?
- 1:13:34Speaker 5: You let him know, because if you let him know,
- 1:13:37Speaker 5: if you stand over them like I do something.
- 1:13:39Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I would say its word choice is
- 1:13:46Speaker 8: what I would say. Word choice.
- 1:13:48Speaker 14: So I don't like to you know, I'm not gonna
- 1:13:50Speaker 14: say what I would say on camera. Uh the clip
- 1:13:52Speaker 14: that they got me this year, they got what I
- 1:13:55Speaker 14: said on camera.
- 1:13:56Speaker 7: But okay, we'll say words and then you tell us
- 1:13:59Speaker 7: if it's the word.
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: I'll go first. You're satisfactory, good dude?
- 1:14:03Speaker 10: Was that it? Yeah?
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: Okay that I thought that was I Yeah, that was good.
- 1:14:07Speaker 7: We appreciate you, appreciate you have a great season. I
- 1:14:09Speaker 7: hope you're healthy, and uh, this is this is for
- 1:14:11Speaker 7: Xavier right here. I would have been awesome.

- 1:14:25Speaker 2: got football cards here to give away just for that.

- 1:17:36Speaker 5: If you subtract thirteen from one hundred, you get eighty seven,
- 1:17:38Speaker 5: which is a Jersey number of Swiss boyfriend.
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: That's true, so stupid.
