- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31We're talking today about looking at somebody else's end
- 0:34result and feeling bad about yourself.
- 0:38Cannot express what a bad idea this is for so many reasons.
- 0:43But the the most predominant reason that it's bad is that you
- 0:47literally are looking at somebody's effort at the, you
- 0:52know, the end progress. Now, that's not that they're
- 0:54necessarily ended because they're probably not.
- 0:56You watch somebody, you see how far they've come.
- 0:59You look at all the things they've done.
- 1:00They're still doing it. So I'm using the word end result
- 1:03as to what you're seeing in that moment, but it's not necessarily
- 1:06their end. It's just where they are after
- 1:09years of making progress and you're looking at that and
- 1:12you're saying, Oh my gosh, I'm never going to get there.
- 1:15I'm never going to get there. Well, no, you won't get there
- 1:18with that attitude about it. But what you have to recognize
- 1:21is it took them years of effort to get to that place.
- 1:25And this has been one of my personal hardest things to learn
- 1:29just because I love to make progress and I don't like to sit
- 1:33around and have it take a long time to make progress.
- 1:36And it is especially with the farm situation like I have, I
- 1:41look at farms. I look at, you know, let's take
- 1:44my quintessential farm person that I love to look at Martha
- 1:47Stewart. OK, You look at her Bedford farm
- 1:50and forget it. It's it's overwhelmingly
- 1:53beautiful. Or P Allen Smith, for anybody
- 1:56who might follow him, he's Apbs host.
- 1:59He has a beautiful farm in Arkansas called Moss Mountain.
- 2:05I've actually been there. I've done the tour.
- 2:07I've had lunch there. It's incredible.
- 2:09It's the he has a giant party. Part of his farm is called
- 2:12Poultryville. OK, I was in my Mecca to go and
- 2:15see something like that. And it was just unbelievable how
- 2:20much I, I, I loved everything about what he had done, his
- 2:24gardens. It's, it was incredible.
- 2:29But I was looking at a result of years of work and feeling bad
- 2:33about what I had done and how little mine was compared to what
- 2:37his was. And I had to really, as happy as
- 2:41I was to go there and be thrilled about it and feel like
- 2:44it was such an inspiration. If I'm completely honest, I felt
- 2:48overwhelmed with how am I ever going to get there?
- 2:51And does that show up for me regularly in my world?
- 2:54Yes, I want to be completely transparent.
- 2:57Yes, it does show up that way for me.
- 2:59And yes, it really is irritating sometimes when I feel like I
- 3:03really want to be at that other end result and I'm not.
- 3:07And oh, how frustrating it is. And we all have this experience.
- 3:12So what do we do when we have it?
- 3:14Well, I can tell you what I do and I can tell you what I advise
- 3:17clients to do because it it's part of the process.
- 3:20So if I feel that result, then that to me is a testament of how
- 3:25willing I am to do the work. I might not like the way it
- 3:29goes. I might have issues with the
- 3:31fact that it's not happening fast enough.
- 3:34But here's the thing, I want the end result.
- 3:37So when I feel that I hone in on that feeling you this makes you
- 3:41feel bad. Great.
- 3:42Then that's a testament to knowing how much you really want
- 3:44that end result and how much you really need to pay attention to
- 3:47it. So you know, that's your
- 3:50motivation. And when I feel that, I actually
- 3:52sit and write it down, like I write myself a letter, a note,
- 3:57whatever you want to call it, that says remember this.
- 4:00And it's kind of like a dialogue between me, myself and I talking
- 4:04about how if you feel this way, it's a testament to the fact
- 4:08that you want to get to that point.
- 4:10It is not meant to make me feel like I should give up.
- 4:13I'm never going to get there. It's meant to inspire and I
- 4:18think that's why we just in in the from a very spiritual
- 4:22perspective that we have those kind of moments because they
- 4:25give us the ability to say no. That's something I really like,
- 4:29admire, and I admire it so much and I really want it so much
- 4:33that I'm willing to do the work for it.
- 4:36So that's the key, the twist in this.
- 4:39Now, does anyone ever know the amount of work it takes to get
- 4:43to an end result? I am convinced the answer is no.
- 4:46Because if we did, you know, it's like that old saying about
- 4:48childbirth. If I knew how painful it was
- 4:50going to be, I would have never done it.
- 4:52Most women say that if you, you know, if you had known that, you
- 4:55wouldn't have done it. But guess what?
- 4:58When you don't know it, it's all rainbows and butterflies and you
- 5:02think, OK, the end result is that beautiful baby.
- 5:05And then you go ahead and you do it.
- 5:07You have this, you know, opportunity to raise this child
- 5:10and have this beautiful, beautiful experience.
- 5:15And you do it in spite of the pain.
- 5:17Doesn't matter. So thinking of it as a I'm never
- 5:23going to know all the things it's going to take.
- 5:25And I see that result and I want to get there.
- 5:29I mean, it's just a better frame.
- 5:32It's a better frame to move into, to push yourself there.
- 5:35So when you're looking at your path and you're saying, OK, I'm
- 5:39on this path and I really want it, don't always worry about
- 5:43that end result as much as you worry about where you're focused
- 5:48in the moment. Put your attention on that.
- 5:50Make sure you're aware of where you are in the moment to moment
- 5:54and stay focused. You will get there, I promise,
- 5:58just like I will get there. And every year my farm gets
- 6:01better and every year things get better and I see things better
- 6:05and I clearer and you will get there.
- 6:07It's just a process. All right, my friends, I hope
- 6:09you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 6:11Bye.
