- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Benn and Ashley I almost famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with her radio. Oh my gosh, it's a big moment
- 0:08Speaker 1: for us. Okay, pretty much deciding podcasting moment of all time.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Can we just start like this, just like hit record,
- 0:14Speaker 1: Let's go. I think this might be the most exciting
- 0:16Speaker 1: moment of our lives. Let alone podcast. We're matching clothes. Yeah,
- 0:20Speaker 1: we shop at the same place. One's Kentucky and one's Nantucket.
- 0:27Speaker 1: But we will say, well they both say Nantucket. Okay,
- 0:32Speaker 1: not know how to read. That was so on brand
- 0:35Speaker 1: for Eric it is I can sound out most things Nantucket. Nice,
- 0:41Speaker 1: you guys plan this. No, So we're visiting her sister's fiance.
- 0:46Speaker 1: They get a family home in Nantuckets. We are visiting
- 0:48Speaker 1: for the day, so of course we're like super tourists
- 0:50Speaker 1: and get Nantucket shirts. Love Nantucket, Nantucket shirt in Nantucket. Yeah,
- 0:55Speaker 1: we're quite pathetic. Yeah, I know, right. I brought my
- 0:57Speaker 1: Nantucket shirt to wear and then he this spot one
- 1:02Speaker 1: the shirt of the band you're at the concert world shirts.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Then it would be okay, wait, that is actually a
- 1:10Speaker 1: great question. I've always been confused by people who wear
- 1:14Speaker 1: different band shirts to a concert and not the real
- 1:17Speaker 1: band they're seeing, or people who wear jerseys of a
- 1:20Speaker 1: different team than the team that they're seeing. Those people
- 1:24Speaker 1: make no sense at all. That's two different things. Yeah,
- 1:27Speaker 1: I don't ye know, those are two different things, because
- 1:29Speaker 1: I actually I'm a big vintage T shirt person. Love
- 1:32Speaker 1: vintage T s. If I'm going to a concert and
- 1:35Speaker 1: I have a vintage T shirt of the band I'm
- 1:37Speaker 1: going to see, I'm going to wear that band's vintage.
- 1:41Speaker 1: But I would not buy the merch like in the
- 1:43Speaker 1: parking lot and then put that new merch on to
- 1:45Speaker 1: go into the concert. That's weird, exactly. I totally agree.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Are you a New Kids on the Block fan? Um?
- 1:51Speaker 1: I mean yes, I'm a little young. You're a little young,
- 1:54Speaker 1: so I'm a little young too, and I weirdly got
- 1:57Speaker 1: into them. But that's like the band that I have
- 2:00Speaker 1: like true classic vintage cheese from and I get to
- 2:03Speaker 1: where their vintagechees their concerts. Now, I just made a
- 2:07Speaker 1: lot of money for a vintage New Kids on the
- 2:09Speaker 1: Block shirts. So the fact that you have real ones
- 2:11Speaker 1: like from did you really? Yeah? I did? Yeah? Oh
- 2:14Speaker 1: my gosh, you I okay, So I got into oh
- 2:17Speaker 1: my god, where this is the most all over podcast ever.
- 2:19Speaker 1: But I love it. When I got into them, it
- 2:21Speaker 1: was two thousand four, so between they're breaking up and
- 2:24Speaker 1: their reuniting, so I was able to get like t
- 2:27Speaker 1: T shirts on eBay at the time that are now
- 2:31Speaker 1: go for like two hundred dollars. That's so cool. You're
- 2:33Speaker 1: really they were the old kids on the block by
- 2:35Speaker 1: two thousand four, weren't they? Yes? I mean really now, yeah,
- 2:39Speaker 1: I know I feel bad even saying that they're very
- 2:41Speaker 1: old kids on the block. Now, guys, this is exactly
- 2:44Speaker 1: how we imagined our conversation with you all going like
- 2:47Speaker 1: our best friends. Obviously, Jared, you want to give a
- 2:50Speaker 1: little background. Well, also, everybody listening or listening to the
- 2:53Speaker 1: almost famous podcast, No, I'm not Ben Higgins. I'm Jared
- 2:56Speaker 1: habn Ashley con Eddie's husband by him, a huge Boy
- 2:59Speaker 1: Meets World fans. So we have the privilege of talking
- 3:02Speaker 1: to the host of pod Meats World, Will Writer and
- 3:05Speaker 1: Dan Yelle. Uh So, well, that's really the background of
- 3:09Speaker 1: and Ashley in our Huge Boy Meets World background is
- 3:12Speaker 1: that we are huge fans. It was one of the
- 3:13Speaker 1: first things we bonded over. Pretty sure. We brought it
- 3:16Speaker 1: up early in Paradise when we were talking about it,
- 3:19Speaker 1: and then eventually we started sort of calling each other
- 3:23Speaker 1: Corey and Topanga even when we weren't together, like when
- 3:26Speaker 1: we when we had known each other for nine months
- 3:29Speaker 1: and things are really confusing. On my birthday, he sent
- 3:32Speaker 1: me a bouquet of roses signed your Corey. I didn't. Yes, Well,
- 3:39Speaker 1: it's a little background on us. So Ashley and I
- 3:42Speaker 1: are part of the Bachelor franchise. We met on a
- 3:44Speaker 1: show called bachelom Paratis, but we didn't start actually dating
- 3:46Speaker 1: until after the show, and there's like a little complicated.
- 3:50Speaker 1: We were friends for a couple of years before we
- 3:51Speaker 1: got together and now we've been married for over three
- 3:53Speaker 1: years and we have a six month old son who's
- 3:54Speaker 1: almost seven months, which is crazy. Um. We tried to
- 3:59Speaker 1: get need to crawl today unsuccessfully. He started bawling his
- 4:02Speaker 1: eyes out, but he's getting there. Um. But yeah, I mean,
- 4:06Speaker 1: boy world has been such a big part of our lives.
- 4:09Speaker 1: And uh, if you have a question for you, had
- 4:11Speaker 1: you guys already called each other Corey in t Pengo
- 4:14Speaker 1: when you sent that bouquet or did you? Was that
- 4:16Speaker 1: like a really forward move to say your Corey it
- 4:19Speaker 1: was a forward move. It was definitely intentionally, Uh, tell something.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I feel like that's not something you get to tell someone.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Someone has to tell you that you're my Corey. Somebody
- 4:31Speaker 1: guess what I'm your Corey that if someone says that
- 4:34Speaker 1: I'm a little like I will determine that. Okay, Yeah,
- 4:45Speaker 1: I was just laying out the groundwork. Anybody listening, Yeah,
- 4:49Speaker 1: anybody listening who follows bull shows now understands why I
- 4:53Speaker 1: was so crazy and Bachelor in Paradise Sason three. We've
- 4:56Speaker 1: talked about, okay, anyway, alright, alright, there's a Aaron question
- 5:00Speaker 1: that I just came up with. We are just going
- 5:03Speaker 1: to I have another podcast it's called I Don't Get It,
- 5:06Speaker 1: in which I just ramble about things, and today is
- 5:09Speaker 1: our ramble with with you guys, if that's okay. So
- 5:13Speaker 1: my first question that just popped up, Wise, we were
- 5:16Speaker 1: discussing the seriousness that is calling somebody a Corey or
- 5:20Speaker 1: a Topanga is uh, have you guys discussed on your
- 5:22Speaker 1: own podcast, get the weirdness that happened where Corey and
- 5:27Speaker 1: Topanga were young kids and they didn't date right, and
- 5:30Speaker 1: then all of a sudden they're dating and somewhere along
- 5:34Speaker 1: those lines, they went from Corey always making fun of
- 5:39Speaker 1: Topanga and not wanting to be with her, and then
- 5:42Speaker 1: all of a sudden they're dating and that never happened.
- 5:45Speaker 1: And the older episodes, you guys make it seem like
- 5:47Speaker 1: you were together since like elementary school, but I don't
- 5:49Speaker 1: think that was the case. Please explain two different little sisters.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Our our our little brother Josh was six months old
- 5:59Speaker 1: and then he was four ten in the last episode's throwing,
- 6:02Speaker 1: Mr Phoenie was our teacher all the way through college.
- 6:05Speaker 1: College Phoenie just kept getting promotions. You know, it makes sense.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I love all That's what throws you know, that's what
- 6:13Speaker 1: throws me. It's because you guys bring it up all
- 6:15Speaker 1: the time. But we've been together forever, together since Kydergarten.
- 6:19Speaker 1: I think what we've definitely realized is that the nineties
- 6:23Speaker 1: we're like really embraced gas lighting through the media. When
- 6:29Speaker 1: we just what, you will believe whatever we tell you.
- 6:34Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean we will hit those moments like
- 6:37Speaker 1: what We're really trying to not jump too far ahead.
- 6:41Speaker 1: We're only in episode ten of season one right now,
- 6:44Speaker 1: and when yes, we have talked about the fact that
- 6:47Speaker 1: oh wow. You know, Corey seems really like he's just
- 6:49Speaker 1: not interested in to paygun. Why is to Panga laughing
- 6:52Speaker 1: at that? You know, it seems like their friendship is
- 6:53Speaker 1: developing now. And certainly when we get to the first
- 6:56Speaker 1: time that it gets mentioned that we fell in love
- 6:59Speaker 1: at the Sandbox three, we will then out alright, continuity error.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Now you know, we're we're hitting all of those, but
- 7:07Speaker 1: we're doing them when we come to them. We're not
- 7:09Speaker 1: talking about all seven seasons in every episode. Will you'll
- 7:12Speaker 1: appreciate this because I'm a huge superhero fan, so I'm
- 7:15Speaker 1: a big defender of Oh well, I know obviously you're
- 7:18Speaker 1: the voice of Batman, um, but uh but I always
- 7:22Speaker 1: defend Superman because people are like, oh Superman so unrealistic.
- 7:25Speaker 1: That's why I'm a Batman fan. I'm like, oh yeah,
- 7:27Speaker 1: because Batman guy dressing up as a bat with the
- 7:29Speaker 1: bat cave, you know, flying across what you say to me,
- 7:34Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I know I love Batman. Batman is so wonderful,
- 7:38Speaker 1: but I have to defend Superman. Anyway Batman could really happen.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Superman is faith here we go, all right, well, very
- 7:45Speaker 1: nice talking to you guys, But I wanted to ask
- 7:48Speaker 1: you guys, so you obviously started Pod meets World. Were
- 7:51Speaker 1: you guys nervous at all before you started? I mean,
- 7:53Speaker 1: I think there's like a hundred and sixty episodes of
- 7:56Speaker 1: of Point Meets World, plus you guys are doing interviews
- 7:59Speaker 1: with all cast and crew, so I mean, by the
- 8:01Speaker 1: time this is done, you guys probably gonna be over
- 8:03Speaker 1: two episodes. Did you ever think before doing this, like,
- 8:05Speaker 1: all right, we're We're in it. This is were this
- 8:08Speaker 1: is a commitment. It's just starting to hit me, like,
- 8:14Speaker 1: like in the last week, I stay, I was sitting
- 8:16Speaker 1: with my wife. I looked up. I was like, this
- 8:18Speaker 1: is gonna take years. Were not just the middle of
- 8:23Speaker 1: a deal. I just got it. I was like, this
- 8:26Speaker 1: is gonna take us years. Yeah. Yeah. Has it hit
- 8:30Speaker 1: you yet? Rider, Danielle? I mean it's funny because you know,
- 8:34Speaker 1: I don't. We didn't really plan two episodes a week.
- 8:37Speaker 1: We've talked about like, oh well the first you know,
- 8:40Speaker 1: But now that we've like kept this pace, it's it's
- 8:42Speaker 1: a lot. It's a lot, Danielle. I have a quick
- 8:46Speaker 1: question for you. Did Corey and Topanga ever dress in
- 8:50Speaker 1: the same shirts? I don't think we did. We should
- 8:55Speaker 1: have changed the podcast, because I mean, listen, I don't
- 9:02Speaker 1: really love each other unless you match, don't. You know?
- 9:05Speaker 1: What's so funny is that as soon as we popped
- 9:07Speaker 1: up on the screen he said start video, I immediately
- 9:09Speaker 1: saw the shirts, and I'm like, oh no, right now. Well,
- 9:15Speaker 1: you know, whenever, whenever underpants or underwear comes up in
- 9:19Speaker 1: our lives, we go jas. Hey, that's a perfect example
- 9:26Speaker 1: of an episode that I don't remember all the details of,
- 9:29Speaker 1: but I know I already have like Agita thinking about
- 9:32Speaker 1: when we discuss it, because how come no one talks
- 9:36Speaker 1: about how weird it was that I was sitting under
- 9:38Speaker 1: a blanket with Sean in his in his boxers. It's weird,
- 9:44Speaker 1: It's weird. Why why was that happening? It was cold?
- 9:48Speaker 1: That was the episode where we make out for some
- 9:50Speaker 1: video that the Yes, it's such a bizarre episode. The
- 9:55Speaker 1: whole thing is about him being jealous of you and me,
- 9:58Speaker 1: and we can keep the one the problem. Don't do
- 10:02Speaker 1: this now, we'll get to I'm sorry on the show,
- 10:05Speaker 1: don't do don't do that yet. Yeah, you're right, two
- 10:08Speaker 1: thout four, we'll be discussing this. People to listen to
- 10:12Speaker 1: this writer, how do you remember stuff like this when
- 10:14Speaker 1: you have admitted on your podcast that you have never
- 10:17Speaker 1: rewatched the episode, So how do you remember details that
- 10:22Speaker 1: that that has come up? That episode has come up
- 10:25Speaker 1: between Danielle and I because we were like, did we
- 10:28Speaker 1: we actually like kissed for an episode wright or didn't
- 10:30Speaker 1: remember it by the way, writer didn't remember it by
- 10:33Speaker 1: the way, right, It was like, wait, we were actually
- 10:35Speaker 1: kissed and I was liked he was like, oh, I
- 10:38Speaker 1: don't remember that. I was like sorry. So we discussed that,
- 10:43Speaker 1: um and and that opened up that whole episode. And
- 10:46Speaker 1: of course people say underpants all the time, so that's
- 10:48Speaker 1: one of those like record, it's so weird which things
- 10:51Speaker 1: stuck with people and how often they were the same
- 10:54Speaker 1: things that we loved on the set. So like people
- 10:57Speaker 1: come up all the time and say they want you
- 10:59Speaker 1: to take the roles, which was like a line that
- 11:02Speaker 1: we used to say to each other all the time,
- 11:05Speaker 1: every every single dinner where they bring a basket. Isn't
- 11:09Speaker 1: that hysteric? I mean, I guess it's just because it
- 11:12Speaker 1: is something that happens in restaurants and we were like,
- 11:15Speaker 1: it's just one of those. But for whatever reason, there's
- 11:17Speaker 1: like you know Tenner twelve lines and episodes that are
- 11:21Speaker 1: like really become part of the boy meets World fan culture,
- 11:25Speaker 1: and so I'm I'm well aware of those, you know,
- 11:28Speaker 1: Like we talked about the Scream episode the Halloween. It's
- 11:31Speaker 1: like a classic. I know every frame of that one
- 11:34Speaker 1: because I remembered so vividly, and then we watched it
- 11:37Speaker 1: for conventions and stuff. Uh, and I remember the finale
- 11:41Speaker 1: because we've we rewatched that at a convention and talked
- 11:44Speaker 1: about it. But yeah, in general, like we just we
- 11:48Speaker 1: we finally episode ten we just recorded. Are I have
- 11:52Speaker 1: no recollection of the episode, like literally none, and I
- 11:55Speaker 1: think probably from now on I won't remember any of them.
- 11:58Speaker 1: It will be like really bizarre. I have to ask Will.
- 12:13Speaker 1: This is a quote that I'm not sure is one
- 12:16Speaker 1: of the classic quotes, but it means a lot to
- 12:18Speaker 1: Jared and I because it was the only time I
- 12:20Speaker 1: laughed during my pregnancy. I had really really rough and
- 12:25Speaker 1: for comfort late at night when we're lying in bad
- 12:28Speaker 1: we'd read watched the World and there is the one
- 12:31Speaker 1: there's the one episode where you're doing the poetry reading,
- 12:34Speaker 1: which is the absolute most hilarious thing, and then you
- 12:36Speaker 1: go I was born. Oh I am born? Yeah a yeah,
- 12:45Speaker 1: he like pops out of the turn of neck. Remember that.
- 12:50Speaker 1: And the title of the show is like something like
- 12:53Speaker 1: watch it's Eric Matthews, look at me, look at Me,
- 12:55Speaker 1: A one woman show. Yeah. And you know what's funny
- 12:59Speaker 1: is the the reason I know that so well is
- 13:01Speaker 1: because the original poster Marquis is hanging framed fifteen feet
- 13:05Speaker 1: from me, so I have it in the it's in
- 13:08Speaker 1: my house. They originally with with like all the like
- 13:11Speaker 1: these kind of like look like yeah, it's like it
- 13:14Speaker 1: is the black and white photos, but it is. It's
- 13:15Speaker 1: Eric Matthews, look at me, look at me, a one
- 13:16Speaker 1: woman show, and you get a free it says underneath,
- 13:19Speaker 1: it's like free shoe rental with ticket. You don't like
- 13:27Speaker 1: nobody likes me? What about? Um? What about mommy Daddy Corey?
- 13:33Speaker 1: You know, like when you're like, I'm not looking at anyone,
- 13:35Speaker 1: I'm not trying to accuse you of not being best
- 13:38Speaker 1: man material And they're like those who don't think I'm
- 13:42Speaker 1: best man materials shall remain nameless. Mommy Daddy Corey. Wow.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Whenever we're like whenever we're trying to like slightly like
- 13:51Speaker 1: at somebody we go like, we're like, we're like Jared
- 13:55Speaker 1: Nancy Fred you know, yeah, we always call him out
- 13:57Speaker 1: exactly like that. I think for Uce it's you know,
- 14:00Speaker 1: Boy Meets World. I want to ask you guys this
- 14:03Speaker 1: question because I think for me personally and for Ashley
- 14:06Speaker 1: as well, Boy Meets World. I don't want to speak
- 14:09Speaker 1: in like hyperbole, but it's really made my life so
- 14:14Speaker 1: much better. There are shows right for or movies that
- 14:16Speaker 1: you guys have grown up with or where you watch
- 14:19Speaker 1: and you're like, wow, if I like I could watch
- 14:21Speaker 1: this and just feel better about life, I don't know.
- 14:23Speaker 1: It's it's almost like going outside and getting fresh air
- 14:26Speaker 1: for me, and Boy Meets World does that for me.
- 14:28Speaker 1: And I think because of the writing of the show,
- 14:30Speaker 1: because of you guys, because of of you know, the
- 14:34Speaker 1: age that it came out with me. Um, you know,
- 14:38Speaker 1: it's and it's grown. Even rewatching the show, it's still
- 14:41Speaker 1: it's still so good. Do you I mean, you guys
- 14:44Speaker 1: are such in the early stage of this, but when
- 14:45Speaker 1: you rewatch the show, do you do you watch back
- 14:48Speaker 1: and think, wow, you know, like it really is just
- 14:51Speaker 1: that good. We were part of something so wonderful. Yeah,
- 14:56Speaker 1: I mean I think a big part of this podcast
- 14:58Speaker 1: from is for me to finally realized that, you know,
- 15:01Speaker 1: like I I didn't at the time, UM, I didn't
- 15:06Speaker 1: watch the show. I didn't watch TV really in general. UM.
- 15:09Speaker 1: And I spent my twenties like just sort of running
- 15:12Speaker 1: away from it, um and avoiding it just for personal reasons.
- 15:16Speaker 1: You know, I just wanted to like be a different
- 15:17Speaker 1: person and be myself. And now I can just look
- 15:21Speaker 1: back and be like, wow, there's I think there's a
- 15:23Speaker 1: good reason that people are still talking about this show.
- 15:26Speaker 1: You know that that the like what you know, really
- 15:28Speaker 1: what happened is we started doing conventions, which terrified me
- 15:32Speaker 1: and will sort of drag me kicking and screaming in
- 15:35Speaker 1: my first convention, And you know what scared me was
- 15:37Speaker 1: just fan interaction, Like I just didn't know what to expect.
- 15:41Speaker 1: We are quite creepy. No, exactly opposite. It's like an
- 15:45Speaker 1: incredibly positive feedback loop where I was suddenly like, oh,
- 15:51Speaker 1: you know, this is amazing, Like people have memories and like,
- 15:55Speaker 1: like you're saying, it affected them in so many positive ways. UM,
- 15:59Speaker 1: And I'm able to appreciate the show for that, UM.
- 16:02Speaker 1: And then now watching the actual content of the show.
- 16:05Speaker 1: I can see why, Like I can see why, you know,
- 16:07Speaker 1: it wasn't just I get you know, there's there's a
- 16:10Speaker 1: lot of shows that just went for the easy joke.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Boy Meea's World did go for a lot of good,
- 16:15Speaker 1: easy jokes, but it also never sold out its characters.
- 16:18Speaker 1: It's like it's it's so earnest, it's so dramatic. It's
- 16:23Speaker 1: both of those things and still very funny, and like
- 16:26Speaker 1: that is just kind of crazy, Like I don't know
- 16:29Speaker 1: any other show that managed to pull that off, you know, um,
- 16:33Speaker 1: And so it's it's kind of miraculous. I think it's
- 16:35Speaker 1: it's one of the kind. So when I talked about
- 16:38Speaker 1: my childhood shows, it's Boy Meat's World, Full House and
- 16:41Speaker 1: growing Pains, And I feel like the difference between the
- 16:45Speaker 1: other two are that the lessons are done and a
- 16:47Speaker 1: little it's a little corny. It doesn't age as well
- 16:50Speaker 1: as Boy Meets World. When I think back and watch
- 16:53Speaker 1: all these episodes of all three shows, the one that
- 16:55Speaker 1: we're most looking forward to sharing with our son is
- 16:58Speaker 1: Boy Meat's World because the lessons are just done so well.
- 17:01Speaker 1: It's so well scripted, it's well acted, and there's always
- 17:05Speaker 1: like every sorry we're like stealing the podcast for you guys.
- 17:08Speaker 1: We want to interview you. But you know, we love
- 17:10Speaker 1: the show so much and we love you guys that
- 17:12Speaker 1: it's there's so much heart in the show. You know,
- 17:15Speaker 1: there's a heartbeat with the Boy Means World that really
- 17:17Speaker 1: goes throughout the entirety of the show, which is very rare.
- 17:21Speaker 1: I feel like a lot of times we talk about
- 17:22Speaker 1: the rewatchability factors that shows movies, and you rewatch something,
- 17:25Speaker 1: you're like, oh, that didn't age well or this didn't
- 17:27Speaker 1: do that. And I'm sure there's gonna be episodes where
- 17:29Speaker 1: you guys bring up and you're like, I don't know
- 17:31Speaker 1: if that was the best. You know, it's definitely a
- 17:33Speaker 1: product of its time. But I feel like there's so
- 17:35Speaker 1: much within within this show and within these characters that
- 17:39Speaker 1: just is still like we could show our son Dawson
- 17:42Speaker 1: today and be like, yeah, that still pertains to today,
- 17:45Speaker 1: and that's what you want to be, you know, like
- 17:47Speaker 1: even as an adult, you know, I look at something
- 17:50Speaker 1: someone like Alan and as a father figure. Yeah, I'm
- 17:53Speaker 1: not joking. There's so many times like with Alan and
- 17:56Speaker 1: Sean and how he talks to you or how he
- 17:59Speaker 1: treats like I remember Will Will there was an episode
- 18:02Speaker 1: with UM with Eric. I think it was maybe we're
- 18:04Speaker 1: working at the shop, but where like you felt that
- 18:07Speaker 1: he loved, like he sided with Corey Moore and you
- 18:10Speaker 1: felt like the second child, so to speak, and like
- 18:13Speaker 1: the way he addressed that, handled that situation. And and
- 18:16Speaker 1: of course like with the Panga and Corey, like we
- 18:18Speaker 1: draw in so many of our own, um you know,
- 18:21Speaker 1: personal things in our life, and we we related to
- 18:25Speaker 1: so much what you guys were going through and and uh,
- 18:27Speaker 1: I don't know, man, it means a lot to me.
- 18:29Speaker 1: And like the characters of the show. That's also the
- 18:32Speaker 1: cool things, like I see, I think there's so the
- 18:35Speaker 1: characters are so well written. You guys did such a
- 18:37Speaker 1: good job with each character that like I see myself
- 18:41Speaker 1: a little bit in Sean and Eric and Corey and
- 18:44Speaker 1: to Panga and Angela and Peenie and Alan, and so
- 18:47Speaker 1: it's it's very rare where like there's all these different
- 18:50Speaker 1: episodes where I'm like, yeah, I can relate to that person,
- 18:52Speaker 1: but I can also relate to them and so on
- 18:53Speaker 1: and so forth. You also, like all the characters, there's
- 18:55Speaker 1: nobody that you're just like a that was a week link. Yeah, yeah, No,
- 19:01Speaker 1: it's true. I think we were happy, you know, and
- 19:04Speaker 1: we all just kind of fell into our roles too.
- 19:06Speaker 1: And I think as we grew together. That's one of
- 19:08Speaker 1: the things I love about Boy's World is I'm I'm
- 19:10Speaker 1: a television addict, and a lot of television shows, I mean,
- 19:14Speaker 1: some of the greatest television shows of all time get
- 19:17Speaker 1: worse as the show progresses, like the seasons, the writing
- 19:20Speaker 1: gets worse, and it's just not as good. Um, and
- 19:24Speaker 1: Boy Meats World, I thought was the opposite. Frankly, I
- 19:26Speaker 1: thought we were. Some people disagree, they like the earlier
- 19:28Speaker 1: episodes better, but I thought as actors and the writing,
- 19:31Speaker 1: I thought we were hitting our stride later when we
- 19:33Speaker 1: were all together. Um. And that's rare in the TV
- 19:36Speaker 1: world that we kind of got better as the show
- 19:38Speaker 1: went on. Um. I'd also like to point out that
- 19:40Speaker 1: you say you're super fans and that you named your
- 19:42Speaker 1: kid after Dawson's Creek. We won't talk about that. I
- 19:44Speaker 1: named our kid after Jack Dawson from Titanic. There you go,
- 19:49Speaker 1: another nineties reference. I'm telling you, Um, poor guy, Poor guy,
- 19:53Speaker 1: didn't I was listening to I was listening to writer
- 19:56Speaker 1: talk about how he feels about the show now, and
- 19:58Speaker 1: like when he was saying, it was so earnest, liston
- 20:00Speaker 1: and funny. And it's funny because I was thinking, I
- 20:03Speaker 1: hadn't really ever thought about this, but like I wonder,
- 20:07Speaker 1: like it's a little chicken or the egg with us.
- 20:10Speaker 1: But Writer, Will and myself are all very What you
- 20:15Speaker 1: see is what you get, honest, earnest, genuine um and
- 20:21Speaker 1: I it's a rare situation that you would cast a
- 20:26Speaker 1: show and get people who like just naturally are all
- 20:31Speaker 1: those things. So yeah, and actually kind of embody the show.
- 20:34Speaker 1: And so I'm sure saying true teacher, And that's a
- 20:43Speaker 1: great question, Writer, like, did you guys define the show
- 20:47Speaker 1: or did maybe the show start to finding you in
- 20:49Speaker 1: your personal life, because I'm sure obviously you guys were
- 20:51Speaker 1: on the show at a young age and grew up
- 20:53Speaker 1: with it. I'm curious to hear from you guys if
- 20:55Speaker 1: you think that maybe it's you guys, And I think
- 20:58Speaker 1: you would have asked the writer and I if you
- 21:01Speaker 1: were to have asked us that any time between being
- 21:04Speaker 1: on the show and maybe two years ago, I think
- 21:08Speaker 1: we would have been insulted to to think that the
- 21:12Speaker 1: show could have possibly had such an impact on us.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Yet and yet, now having kids of my own, and
- 21:19Speaker 1: and just knowing myself well enough to know how I
- 21:22Speaker 1: have been impacted by the things in my life. I
- 21:25Speaker 1: really I think it. I think it may have had
- 21:27Speaker 1: way more of an impact on who I have become
- 21:30Speaker 1: over the years than I ever would have realized at
- 21:33Speaker 1: the time. Too. I always knew that, Well, you're a
- 21:39Speaker 1: little bit older, do you do you feel like that
- 21:41Speaker 1: you were a little bit more separated from the character
- 21:43Speaker 1: in your life. Now I want to go around the
- 21:44Speaker 1: circle and say, how were you, guys different from your characters?
- 21:48Speaker 1: Because I'm talking to you, guys, I feel the characters
- 21:51Speaker 1: so defined, but like, yeah, so go around the circle
- 21:55Speaker 1: and say, like, how you most differ from your character?
- 21:58Speaker 1: Go ahead? Will oh you want me to go for? No?
- 22:00Speaker 1: I I hope I'm different than Eric at least towards
- 22:03Speaker 1: the end. Um. Yeah, Eric was was. He had a
- 22:06Speaker 1: great heart, and that's how I like to think I
- 22:08Speaker 1: am very much like Eric. He was. He was also
- 22:11Speaker 1: very honest and very earnest. Um. But I mean by
- 22:14Speaker 1: the end he was he was essentially which again was
- 22:17Speaker 1: a lot like me in real life, he was a
- 22:19Speaker 1: walking comic book character. He's a cartoon um, And that's okay,
- 22:22Speaker 1: that's a wonderful thing. I mean, it was live action
- 22:24Speaker 1: ron Stoppable from Kim Possible was Eric towards the end,
- 22:27Speaker 1: So that's I mean, that's that's not a bad thing
- 22:30Speaker 1: at all. It's a wonderful sitcom character to play. Um.
- 22:33Speaker 1: But there isn't a whole lot about Eric, especially towards
- 22:35Speaker 1: the end that other than the heart, I'd like to
- 22:37Speaker 1: think we had the same kind of heart. We had
- 22:39Speaker 1: the same love of family, um, you know, same uh
- 22:43Speaker 1: kind of honesty with your friends. I think Eric's like that.
- 22:45Speaker 1: But he was also just he's a goofball, which again
- 22:48Speaker 1: is a little bit me. I am certainly a goofball
- 22:51Speaker 1: and I love to make people laugh. But he took
- 22:52Speaker 1: it to kind of the extreme. So that's that's I
- 22:55Speaker 1: think how I'm similar and different. Follow up question, how
- 23:08Speaker 1: did they go from Eric being a rather serious character
- 23:12Speaker 1: trying to woo girls seriously in high school to you
- 23:16Speaker 1: just being a total Mr Squirrels plays with squirrels in
- 23:20Speaker 1: the college years. Yeah, I think it's a couple of things.
- 23:23Speaker 1: One they don't didn't really know what Eric. None of
- 23:26Speaker 1: us knew what Eric was in the beginning. He was
- 23:28Speaker 1: kind of cardboard cutout older brother, sitcom older brother. Okay,
- 23:32Speaker 1: this is what it's going to be. He's going to
- 23:34Speaker 1: go after girls, he's going to care about how he looks.
- 23:36Speaker 1: I mean, that was like what it was. And then
- 23:38Speaker 1: as they realized that I was kind of a wacky,
- 23:41Speaker 1: crazy guy, they started to write a little bit more
- 23:43Speaker 1: for me. And then I think when we always talked
- 23:47Speaker 1: about the two boy Meets World, there was there was
- 23:49Speaker 1: kind of the Corey to Panga, Sean Trina, you know,
- 23:53Speaker 1: angela kind of show, and then there was Jack Eric
- 23:57Speaker 1: and and um um Rachel kind of show. So when
- 24:01Speaker 1: it got more dramatic between Corey and Tapanga and Sean
- 24:04Speaker 1: and that cohole kind of they they wanted to then
- 24:06Speaker 1: it was kind of like cutting two and now dance
- 24:09Speaker 1: and so it was like then they'd cut to Eric
- 24:11Speaker 1: and it was like put him in a couch and
- 24:12Speaker 1: you know, now you're a coconut. Like it was like
- 24:14Speaker 1: that kind of stuff. So it was just that was
- 24:17Speaker 1: kind of just being the comic break that was there.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Um and it was a ton of fun to play.
- 24:22Speaker 1: But there we both wanted to be each other's show.
- 24:24Speaker 1: So I remember talking to both Writer and Danielle like, man,
- 24:28Speaker 1: I wish I could do more dramatic stuff, and they're
- 24:30Speaker 1: both going like, I wish we could crack a joke
- 24:32Speaker 1: at some point, you know, like writers like I've been
- 24:33Speaker 1: an alcoholic for two episodes and joined a cult. Though, man,
- 24:37Speaker 1: you know, throwing a pie great right around now? Um? Yeah,
- 24:41Speaker 1: so it's um, we we always wanted what the other
- 24:43Speaker 1: other team had. But yeah, that's I certainly the other.
- 24:46Speaker 1: The other quick answer is, um, there's an episode where
- 24:49Speaker 1: Eric actually is trapped in a in a car in
- 24:51Speaker 1: a snowstorm and he's being banging his head against the window,
- 24:55Speaker 1: and one of the actual theories is that he does
- 24:58Speaker 1: brain damage and that he's different after at than he
- 25:00Speaker 1: was before that interesting fan theory. Hanka, good god, Yeah, wow.
- 25:07Speaker 1: How do you think that you differ from Topanga? Uh?
- 25:13Speaker 1: You know, it's funny. I was gonna say, I was
- 25:14Speaker 1: going to preface the that question by saying that I
- 25:17Speaker 1: think when when writers and when shows are really in
- 25:21Speaker 1: their groove, the writing becomes more tailored to the strengths
- 25:25Speaker 1: of the actor and and when the character starts being
- 25:28Speaker 1: a little modeled after the person portraying the character, and
- 25:32Speaker 1: I think that Topanga in the beginning was young Topanga, awesome, quirky,
- 25:37Speaker 1: unique flower child to Peanga was nothing like Danielle. Danielle
- 25:41Speaker 1: was a twelve year old want to be cheerleader and
- 25:44Speaker 1: Topanga was not that. Um. But as the season's progressed in,
- 25:48Speaker 1: Topanga became more mainstream, although she was always still strong
- 25:53Speaker 1: and independent technique um, when she became more like normal. Uh.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Topanga was written very similarly to who I was, um
- 26:03Speaker 1: and who I still think I am. I'm I'm you know,
- 26:07Speaker 1: although I wasn't as into school back then, I was
- 26:10Speaker 1: and I went to college late in life. I went
- 26:12Speaker 1: to college at twenty seven, and I don't somewhere along
- 26:15Speaker 1: the way to Panga fully infiltrated me, because while I
- 26:18Speaker 1: was on the show, I was like, school, sure, it's fine,
- 26:20Speaker 1: but like, if I didn't have to study, and that
- 26:23Speaker 1: meant I could get a B or even a C,
- 26:25Speaker 1: that was totally fine for me. If it meant I
- 26:27Speaker 1: was gonna have to really study, but then I was
- 26:29Speaker 1: going to get an A. I was like, who needs
- 26:30Speaker 1: the a's whatever? Bees are fine? Um. Then later in life,
- 26:35Speaker 1: going to college. I cried. I got two bees in
- 26:37Speaker 1: all of college, and I cried both times. Um, very
- 26:42Speaker 1: it was the most I would say it out loud.
- 26:44Speaker 1: I was like, when did this happen? Where did this
- 26:45Speaker 1: come from? Why am I doing this? Why do I
- 26:48Speaker 1: even care? But I did. I became I became more
- 26:51Speaker 1: like to Banga later in life. Um. I always describe
- 26:54Speaker 1: her as just being on the other side of my heart,
- 26:56Speaker 1: because that is very much what it feels like. It
- 26:57Speaker 1: feels like she is someone separate from me, but she's
- 27:00Speaker 1: also very easy for me to tap into. And I
- 27:03Speaker 1: don't really know where one of us starts in the
- 27:05Speaker 1: other ends? Writer, what about you? Watching the shows has
- 27:09Speaker 1: been very strange because I I don't know. I didn't
- 27:14Speaker 1: I didn't quite realize how quickly they developed Sean. We
- 27:17Speaker 1: just watched the tenth episode, and I thought, I thought
- 27:21Speaker 1: that Sean didn't get established as like being poor and
- 27:24Speaker 1: from a broken family for like at least two seasons.
- 27:28Speaker 1: But there it is. In the tenth episode, Shawn's dad
- 27:31Speaker 1: loses his job and it's already sort of tragic, and
- 27:34Speaker 1: he's already avoiding his emotions and being very dramatic. Uh So,
- 27:40Speaker 1: I guess it was always there, um, And I mean
- 27:43Speaker 1: I think I was always a very moody kid like
- 27:45Speaker 1: I don't, Yeah, I was. I took everything very seriously.
- 27:48Speaker 1: I was very earnest um and I was not I was.
- 27:53Speaker 1: I wasn't depressed like, I wasn't sad like I can.
- 27:56Speaker 1: I'm very happy with my parents and my family. So
- 27:59Speaker 1: I didn't have any of those sort of problems at
- 28:01Speaker 1: Sewan had. But in terms of like expressing myself very
- 28:05Speaker 1: vulnerably and you know, not posturing, uh, that was me.
- 28:11Speaker 1: You know. I was very vulnerable and open and I
- 28:14Speaker 1: you know, would cry all the time and tell my
- 28:16Speaker 1: male friends I love them, and you know, so all
- 28:18Speaker 1: those aspects of Sean are very similar. Oh that's so sweet.
- 28:23Speaker 1: I know that they're going to tell us to wrap
- 28:24Speaker 1: up now, so I have to squeeze this in. Even
- 28:27Speaker 1: if we do have extra time, well we'll add something else.
- 28:29Speaker 1: And but this was I thought it was very important, Okay, Danielle.
- 28:33Speaker 1: I remember reading Tiger Beat or bought magazine or something
- 28:37Speaker 1: when I was in fifth grade. And this was before
- 28:40Speaker 1: I moved over to the justin Timberlake side of in Sync,
- 28:43Speaker 1: and I was really crushing on Lance and I know
- 28:47Speaker 1: that you dated Lance because I saw you know, back then,
- 28:50Speaker 1: we didn't have Twitter, we didn't have reddit boards or
- 28:52Speaker 1: anything like this to give us like the current updated gossip.
- 28:56Speaker 1: And I think my heart sunk. I was like, Oh,
- 29:00Speaker 1: they're just friends. They're just friends because like because I'm
- 29:03Speaker 1: obviously going to marry Land, because you were going to
- 29:06Speaker 1: marry Lance of course, of course. And I was like, there, yeah,
- 29:09Speaker 1: they went to prom together, but they just went to
- 29:11Speaker 1: promise friends. But you guys actually did day and Lance
- 29:14Speaker 1: has told us a little bit about it, but I
- 29:15Speaker 1: want to know, like from your perspective, like, how was
- 29:17Speaker 1: that relationship? It was a beautiful relationship. I think Lance
- 29:23Speaker 1: was my first real love. I really, um, I absolutely
- 29:28Speaker 1: loved him. I really thought at Lance was going to
- 29:32Speaker 1: be somebody I like, he was going to be a
- 29:34Speaker 1: person I was gonna marry, Like I was gonna marry Lance. Um.
- 29:37Speaker 1: A lot of that had to do with the fact
- 29:39Speaker 1: that I my parents met when they were fifteen and
- 29:42Speaker 1: got married at twenty one and had me at twenty three,
- 29:45Speaker 1: and so growing up even though I had a very
- 29:47Speaker 1: different childhood than my parents did because neither of my parents,
- 29:51Speaker 1: no one in my family had been in entertainment, So
- 29:53Speaker 1: I was having a job or a career as a
- 29:55Speaker 1: teenager was not common in my family. So even though
- 29:58Speaker 1: that was very different, for some reason, I still thought
- 30:01Speaker 1: of myself as being someone who was going to get
- 30:03Speaker 1: married very young and have a family very young. And
- 30:06Speaker 1: Lance also had those same ideas that we talked to.
- 30:10Speaker 1: You know, we just kind of envisioned that we were
- 30:12Speaker 1: going to get married. And uh, I it's funny because
- 30:17Speaker 1: in hindsight, it's the sweetest most we it's the sweetest relationship,
- 30:23Speaker 1: and yet there there wasn't real romance there there were
- 30:26Speaker 1: for obvious Now what we know is obvious reasons. Lance
- 30:29Speaker 1: is gay, and um, he's always been gay. He at
- 30:33Speaker 1: the time wasn't, so I didn't. I didn't know that.
- 30:39Speaker 1: That's amazing. How is this not broken all over the
- 30:42Speaker 1: news everywhere? Oh the dryest seriously is so dry that
- 30:49Speaker 1: I took him seriously for a second. Oh wait, it says,
- 30:52Speaker 1: tune into our episode with Lance dropping on August. Lance
- 30:56Speaker 1: is coming on the lands me in the podcast, and
- 31:02Speaker 1: and we talked about our relationship and uh, yeah, he's
- 31:05Speaker 1: still one of he's one of my one of my
- 31:07Speaker 1: favorite people. And um, kind of like Will and Writer,
- 31:10Speaker 1: those relationships you have with people when you're really young.
- 31:13Speaker 1: If if as long as both people are on the
- 31:16Speaker 1: same journey of always evolving and growing and being honest
- 31:20Speaker 1: with each other, it's amazing what kind of true, deep,
- 31:23Speaker 1: long lasting friendships you can maintain. Uh, and Lance is
- 31:26Speaker 1: one of those people similar to me with you know,
- 31:28Speaker 1: Writer and Will. Were you like backstage at in Sync
- 31:30Speaker 1: concerts like the girl backstage? Not only was I backstage,
- 31:34Speaker 1: but like I got to put on the you know
- 31:36Speaker 1: when they used to fly over the audience for sailing,
- 31:39Speaker 1: I got to put that on and sail over empty auditoriums.
- 31:43Speaker 1: I got to sleep on the tour of us and yeah,
- 31:46Speaker 1: I got to have the real like I got to
- 31:48Speaker 1: have the I mean, they had the kind of fan
- 31:51Speaker 1: the kind of fans. It was very similar to Beatlemania.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Like I remember I wore I wore wigs to some
- 31:56Speaker 1: of the concerts. So why are you doing a podcast
- 31:58Speaker 1: about boy meets World? You should be doing a podcast
- 31:59Speaker 1: of all that. It'll all come out on the pod
- 32:03Speaker 1: meets World podcast. Oh that's awesome. Well are we've gone
- 32:07Speaker 1: over our time? So? Uh, you know, we can't thank
- 32:10Speaker 1: you enough. And you guys. I mean, obviously we're a
- 32:13Speaker 1: part of something that has formed a culture and it's
- 32:17Speaker 1: funny and it's endearing and rewatching it and brings I
- 32:20Speaker 1: think the biggest thing I wanted to just say because obviously,
- 32:23Speaker 1: like I'm such a fan that it's like we always
- 32:24Speaker 1: want to leave that like lasting impression. Right, you guys
- 32:27Speaker 1: are at a convention right now, by the way, because
- 32:30Speaker 1: you're meeting fans, but it's in all seriousness, like you
- 32:32Speaker 1: guys have just uh and I'm not saying this for
- 32:35Speaker 1: me personally, but like as a as a Boy Meets
- 32:37Speaker 1: World fan of of a group of people like the
- 32:40Speaker 1: millennial generation. Yeah, you guys have had like such an
- 32:43Speaker 1: impact on our lives. So thank you for for being
- 32:46Speaker 1: a part of the show, and thanks for everything, and
- 32:48Speaker 1: keep doing the podcast. The podcast is great. Everybody listening
- 32:50Speaker 1: to this, you guys probably already listened to it, but
- 32:52Speaker 1: Pod Meets World you can get on the iHeart radio app.
- 32:54Speaker 1: You can get it wherever you're listening to podcasts. It's amazing.
- 32:57Speaker 1: You guys are ten episodes in. You have one thousand
- 32:59Speaker 1: four or in seventy eight ago. You'll be done in
- 33:01Speaker 1: twelve years. But then it's gonna be fantastic. And not
- 33:04Speaker 1: only do they have guests like Lance, but they also
- 33:07Speaker 1: have the cast. Come on, you guys had Matt Lawrence, Um,
- 33:10Speaker 1: then you have Alan and Mr Feeney, whose real names
- 33:14Speaker 1: I'm saving my brain. It doesn't matter, it doesn't matter.
- 33:17Speaker 1: I do have a quick pease for the podcast because
- 33:19Speaker 1: I don't I will. I forget the actor's name, but
- 33:22Speaker 1: Mr Turner will he be making Tony Tony Quinn, who's
- 33:27Speaker 1: still one of my closest friends in the world, will
- 33:29Speaker 1: absolutely be coming. That's that's gonna be a very interesting
- 33:32Speaker 1: podcast because I got questions there. He was a stud stud.
- 33:36Speaker 1: As you look back as an adult, you're like, man,
- 33:38Speaker 1: that's the teacher I was going to have a crush on. Yeah.
- 33:42Speaker 1: Now he's uh, he's pretty much looks the same too.
- 33:44Speaker 1: He's still in way better shape than I could ever
- 33:46Speaker 1: hope to be. Yeah, he's he will definitely be joined us.
- 33:50Speaker 1: And by the way, for the record, Dawson, it's a
- 33:51Speaker 1: pretty great name. Well, thank you, but thank you for

- 34:07Speaker 1: all right. Seriously, from the bottom our heart, thank you
- 34:09Speaker 1: for letting us have the past thirty five minutes. It's
- 34:11Speaker 1: been really awesome. Thank you, thank you. Nice meeting you, Hi.
