- 0:00SPEAKER_01: Alright, I'm done.
- 0:01SPEAKER_01: I am done with this week.
- 0:02SPEAKER_01: Enough.
- 0:03SPEAKER_01: It has been fifteen days since Monday to get to this today Friday.
- 0:08SPEAKER_01: This here today Friday.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: This is true.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: Jesus.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: But yesterday was so cool.
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: Yesterday was very cool and also a huge display of idiots.
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: Oh, really?
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: You should have seen it.
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: So you yesterday for Big Boy! Mm-hmm.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: You and I thought this was actually smart after after you said uh you were staying in Corning.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: I'm like, well, this is actually kind of a brilliant idea.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: You're gonna get angles of Big Boy that we wouldn't have gotten here uh on the Miracle Mile in Elmire Heights.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: So okay, this all makes sense.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: I mean, it also makes sense because you have a house guest right now.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: And well, that was the thing.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: Originally I was gonna come back here, but then my house guest said, No, I I want to see this train.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: So it kind of hits you like that.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: You're like, I kind of want to see it.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: So she said, but will you come get me?
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Of course I will.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: So that's what I did, and that's why I stayed in Corning.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: Because you look like you had a great view.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, it was fantastic.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Where we were was, you know where Walmart is in in the Corning Painted Post area.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Oh, sure, yeah.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: There's this little like service road that goes it's across from Canada Road.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: So there's this little service road that goes down it and it's along the Shemong.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Well, we and a ton of people were there.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: I was just gonna ask.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: I asked.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: I was just gonna ask.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: Was it packed?
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: It was packed.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: And the way what I did was I parked actually closer to Walmart because I said, You guys, we gotta have an easy exit to get out of here.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, I got a story about that.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: I don't want to get bottlenecked by the train.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: And we got out so smoothly.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: It was awesome.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's nice.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: An excellent view because it was coming right through the depot over there.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: Apparently it stopped at the depot because we're like, we're well aware.
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, somebody had a tracker and they're like, uh we all did here, and we're like, why is it not leaving Gang Mills?
- 1:58SPEAKER_01: Because whoever the ding dong is that said, it ought to be in Elmira Heights somewhere around 3:30, quarter to four.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: Boy, were you all dead wrong.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: It was five o'clock.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Oh, was it?
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Oh man.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: And what time did you get back here?
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Three?
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, I I went and even see, I didn't realize uh we had been told all week, uh, you know, they're moving on time.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: They left Hornell on time and then for whatever reason hung out in gang mills at the depot for uh uh quite a period of time.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: More water?
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: Maybe I don't know.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: That's a good question.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: So uh you know, we're following the tracker.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: I picked Lydia up from school thinking, oh my god, we'll miss it if she rides the bus or I can't get back here.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: You could have had dinner and came back.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: My God.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: So here we are running around.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: The kids are playing with Baxter, the station dog that lives here half the time.
- 2:43SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: You know, so that's fine.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: Well, that's fine.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: We finally went to the roof because what time?
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: We knew it was getting close.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: Actually, we were up there probably about 4:30.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: So it was hot.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: It was very hot.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: And this is where I I mention what an exercise in stupidity.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Did anyone's parents ever tell them don't play on railroad tracks?
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Oh, we had adults who were on railroad tracks and courting.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: I'm like, get off the track, you dum-dums.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: The heights police are driving through with their loudspeakers going, get off the railroad tracks, please, get off the railroad.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: These parents, and this is what really kills me.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: If you're an adult and you're playing on the railroad tracks and something happens, I like to call that thinning the herd.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: But when you're a parent and you have kids that you're letting run around on the track, teach them right.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: How did you yes, that's it?
- 3:35SPEAKER_01: Run faster.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: How did you not how at one point did you ever think, oh, maybe another train could have ripped through even quicker?
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: Because this is a that's a long stretch from paint and post all the way, you know, past Elmira Heights.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: I mean, it was just it was it was insane.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: People were lined up here at three o'clock, uh both sides of the railroad tracks.
- 3:56SPEAKER_01: So if you went over to the Elmira Heights side or, you know, our side, uh-huh and and the Valero gas station across the street had more people in that parking lot than they've ever had.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: So it, you know, and it great view.
- 4:08SPEAKER_01: And it was really cool.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: We did get to see it from that very high angle.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: I got a video of that.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: It's cool.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: It moved pretty quick.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: It was not yeah, it was a short train.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was, it was, it went through pretty quick.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: It was the getting out of here.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: So at 5 30, Gavin had a haircut appointment that I had already missed one, so this was the make good, and I'm trying to get out of here, right?
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: Let me explain what happens on the miracle mile.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: First of all, you have people that don't normally they're not normally it's a busy road, but now it's like super times 10 busy.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: Oh, the traffic was backed up.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: You have people all over the place.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: Then somebody gets in an accident further up the miracle mile past Ferrario Ford.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: Everything's at a dead stop.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: Scott's in the mode of like, I'm texting with Steve at Bella Capella going, I'm trying to get to you.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: He's like, well, as long as you can get here by 540.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: At one point, I turn around, had to go over to Grand Central to get on the highway to get out there.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: Then I get on the highway, Mother Nature drops a flipping bomb on us.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: And also the traffic was backed up because after we had watched Big Boy in Corning, we were gonna try to chase it to Big Flats or me.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: And we just couldn't because the traffic was bumper to bumper.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: Oh, it was nuts.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: It was the the storm that hit right after the train went through was nuts.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, the dogs didn't fare well at home either yesterday, the puppies.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: It must have been bad in West Elmyra yesterday because they shook it up?
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: Uh they were in a weird state yesterday, you know.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's really sad.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: I actually had to mop the kitchen a couple times.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: Oh, these poor little guys.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: Well, and you know, it it just was one of those days, you know.
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: But at any rate, thank God it's Friday.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: Thank God it's Friday.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: But one other thing about the big boy thing, which I thought was fascinating, was and we had asked this on the air, could anybody actually be in the train?
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: Never knew the answer until I stood by a guy who's in the railroad industry and he said his brother was trying to buy a ticket.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: His brother, who he's like, my brother's a doctor, he's got so much money.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: Oh, but his brother stopped at$17,000 when they were auctioning off these seats.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: So it's like the elite were in that train.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because they had all those passenger cars, but it that was obviously not for your average person.
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: No, but$17,000.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: I'll tell you what though, cool experience.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: Moved everybody to do something.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: I would that was the cool part about it.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: And it felt like New York City trying to leave here yesterday.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: I have a question in a second.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: That uh that's about big boy and my idea I feel like you have to do it like Big Boy and my idea from yesterday.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Okay.
