Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: We choose to go to the moon in this decade
- 0:04Speaker 1: and do the other things, like continue to believe in
- 0:07Speaker 1: this Minnesota Twins team, not because they are easy, but
- 0:10Speaker 1: because they are hard. The four point three percenters are tested.
- 0:14Speaker 1: This morning, the Twins just got swept by the Phillies.
- 0:16Speaker 1: It's Monday, August seventeenth. This is Twins City's Territory, Your
- 0:19Speaker 1: Minnesota Twins podcast on the Foul Territory Network. Dan, no
- 0:25Speaker 1: way around it. Bad weekend, And what is especially gut
- 0:28Speaker 1: punching is we had this terrible loss Thursday at the
- 0:32Speaker 1: Field of Dreams game. You got a couple days to
- 0:34Speaker 1: get over it. You say, all right, fine, throw it
- 0:35Speaker 1: out the window. They actually took the field Saturday as
- 0:40Speaker 1: the third American League Wildcard team because everybody else around
- 0:43Speaker 1: them in the meantime since Thursday night has just lost.
- 0:46Speaker 1: And then this happens to just gut punches one in
- 0:50Speaker 1: a very different circumstance than the other. But now they
- 0:52Speaker 1: have slipped back game and a half out in the
- 0:54Speaker 1: Wildcard and the vibes have completely shifted back to negative town.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Dan.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Rough weekend. You were there, what's the mood.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Like, Well, I mean, we had JFK visit us already.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Right that lets you know nice Most.
- 1:06Speaker 1: People don't know that's the full that's the full text
- 1:08Speaker 1: of the speech.
- 1:09Speaker 3: But it's impressive, and I think it's fitting that we
- 1:14Speaker 3: have something as monumental as that right there of a
- 1:18Speaker 3: moment for this show.
- 1:20Speaker 2: This was a bad weekend. I mean it was. This
- 1:22Speaker 2: was that bad of a weekend.
- 1:23Speaker 3: It just the Twins got It's hard to even put
- 1:28Speaker 3: into words, how you know one sided this belt on
- 1:32Speaker 3: Thursday and Saturday sixteen to two combined.
- 1:35Speaker 2: And then you take a five nothing lead and you're looking.
- 1:38Speaker 3: To salvage something in Sunday's finale, great start, Grand Slam
- 1:42Speaker 3: from Brooksley on a two out rally all in the
- 1:45Speaker 3: first inning, you put up runs against their vulnerable rookie,
- 1:49Speaker 3: you take the five nothing lead, and then it just oh,
- 1:53Speaker 3: in such weird fashion, first that Dean Kramer was just
- 1:58Speaker 3: cruising and gave up four uh, and then Andrew Morris
- 2:02Speaker 3: had uh he got babboped. I would say, I I
- 2:06Speaker 3: Duff can can talk about those moments when you uh
- 2:11Speaker 3: a blooper down the line and then a and then
- 2:14Speaker 3: a bounding ball down the line boast opposite field hits.
- 2:18Speaker 2: He also had the the Louisa.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Riot's play come against him. You had all that weirdness,
- 2:24Speaker 3: and Philly just devastated them and Austin Martin got hurt.
- 2:29Speaker 2: You throw that in. This was as bad of a
- 2:32Speaker 2: weekend as the Twins potentially could have had. You know.
- 2:35Speaker 3: I think the Phillies that was their fourth comeback this
- 2:38Speaker 3: year five runs or more, which is the most in MLB,
- 2:41Speaker 3: and the Twins would love if there were only three
- 2:43Speaker 3: of those.
- 2:44Speaker 2: It was, you know, the.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Mood in Derek Shelton's office after the game was tense.
- 2:49Speaker 3: I talked to fire and Bucks and I stuck around
- 2:51Speaker 3: in the clubhouse for a while. It wasn't quite as
- 2:53Speaker 3: tense in there.
- 2:55Speaker 2: It was. They were down, There's no question there's a
- 2:57Speaker 2: lot of frustration. Andrew Morris was frust for sure. But
- 3:03Speaker 2: it wasn't quite as tense in the clubhouse.
- 3:05Speaker 3: But it was not It was not easy either, and
- 3:07Speaker 3: I think they got to see a very good team
- 3:11Speaker 3: in Philly who's not even you know, I mean what
- 3:13Speaker 3: they're they're on the edge of the wild card right
- 3:15Speaker 3: now too. But the NL is just very good and
- 3:18Speaker 3: the Twins have been terrible against the Sanel this year collectively,
- 3:22Speaker 3: and this was this was definitely kind of a gut.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Punch Saturday was a continuation of a trend. It was
- 3:29Speaker 1: the fourteenth time in sixteen in their previous sixteen games
- 3:33Speaker 1: at that point that the Twins had allowed the first
- 3:35Speaker 1: runs of the game. Wasn't in the first inning this time.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Connor Prili actually did a great job in the second
- 3:40Speaker 1: inning to limit the damage. There'd only give up one run.
- 3:43Speaker 1: But then later in that game, I believe it was
- 3:45Speaker 1: the fifth inning, ran into trouble again and three straight walks,
- 3:50Speaker 1: a couple of singles home run. All of a sudden,
- 3:53Speaker 1: the game got out of control, and it felt Tyler
- 3:56Speaker 1: maybe a little strange for a guy who has obviously
- 4:00Speaker 1: had the injury history, has been on a on a
- 4:02Speaker 1: pitch watch or pitch limit this this year, right to
- 4:05Speaker 1: still be in there when he was clearly seemed to
- 4:07Speaker 1: be laboring.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Yeah, it was as the ending unfolded, like you know,
- 4:12Speaker 4: even after a couple of walks, like it happens, you
- 4:15Speaker 4: know in the outings. Guys I used to have him
- 4:17Speaker 4: where it just you lose it for a guy or two,
- 4:20Speaker 4: you know, then he bounce back, so on and so forth.
- 4:22Speaker 5: But that inning, I mean.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Snowballed and then snowballed again, and you know, the whole time,
- 4:28Speaker 4: you know, you're waiting for somebody to come in from
- 4:30Speaker 4: the pen whatever, you know, And in my mind, what
- 4:34Speaker 4: you just hit on. You know, it's a guy you're
- 4:36Speaker 4: worried about his innings already. You're you're worried about his pitches.
- 4:39Speaker 4: You know, he's got the blistered thing he's had off
- 4:41Speaker 4: and on this season, a lot of variables that are
- 4:44Speaker 4: you know, in our minds. And then you know, he
- 4:46Speaker 4: throws like thirty five pitches, gives up a seventh spot,
- 4:50Speaker 4: you know, really crushing any positive that he may have
- 4:53Speaker 4: gained from that outing against a really good Phillies lineup.
- 4:56Speaker 4: You know, he's facing some future Hall of Fame players,
- 5:00Speaker 4: you know, and handled his business until that inning, and
- 5:02Speaker 4: you know he just lost it and then lost it again,
- 5:06Speaker 4: and then it's like, all right, there's seven runs. When
- 5:09Speaker 4: you bring in anybody else, just a different look.
- 5:11Speaker 5: At that point. To me, it made a lot of
- 5:13Speaker 5: sense to get him out of there.
- 5:14Speaker 4: And you know, for whatever reason, I guess the bullpen
- 5:17Speaker 4: was a little taxed, you know, things like that, but
- 5:20Speaker 4: it was it was a weird one, especially for a
- 5:21Speaker 4: young guy, you know, who's developing and you got to
- 5:25Speaker 4: grow up and sometimes you just have to have that
- 5:27Speaker 4: outing to know what it even feels like and see
- 5:29Speaker 4: if you can get through it. But that one, you know,
- 5:32Speaker 4: Kramer's was a little different, you know what I personally,
- 5:35Speaker 4: I would have been up moving around in the bullpen
- 5:37Speaker 4: like waiting for somebody to get up and that Kramer inning.
- 5:40Speaker 4: But the prelop one was just a strange you know,
- 5:42Speaker 4: all the variables behind the scenes we never know fully,
- 5:45Speaker 4: but you know, that was a weird one to have
- 5:48Speaker 4: him ride out like that, And I mean, ultimately, it's
- 5:50Speaker 4: just a it took any momentum out of that building.
- 5:52Speaker 4: And you know, it stayed around Sunday because I was
- 5:56Speaker 4: we were talking before the show. I it was like
- 5:58Speaker 4: the third or fourth yesterday and I was like, this
- 5:59Speaker 4: same something's gonna happen and Dorom's gonna get a saved today.
- 6:03Speaker 4: I told my wife, and you know, here we are today.
- 6:05Speaker 4: It happened. So it was just one of those you
- 6:07Speaker 4: could just feel that energy. It's just something weird. So
- 6:11Speaker 4: hopefully they can shake that off tonight.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Yeah, on the on the bullpen usage, we asked Shelton
- 6:18Speaker 3: both days and on Saturday he said, uh, I believe
- 6:21Speaker 3: some of the lefties were down. He just hit That's
- 6:23Speaker 3: what he acknowledged was that some of the lefties were down.
- 6:26Speaker 3: So in the walks to Harper and Arise he wasn't
- 6:30Speaker 3: gonna go and should make the change there because pre
- 6:33Speaker 3: lips lefty and he said, as he said, we were
- 6:36Speaker 3: one pitch away.
- 6:37Speaker 2: After that, you know he did.
- 6:39Speaker 3: He did indicate that there's been some heavy usage, and look,
- 6:42Speaker 3: I feel like that's there is some accuracy to that.
- 6:46Speaker 2: There have been a lot of guys.
- 6:47Speaker 3: I mean, you can look and see that guys have
- 6:49Speaker 3: come in and been asked for beginnings in Uh, there
- 6:53Speaker 3: were there were times that And it's funny because he
- 6:55Speaker 3: used a lot of.
- 6:57Speaker 2: His bullpen his a guys that day.
- 7:00Speaker 3: Right by the point they came in, it was already
- 7:03Speaker 3: the game was over. But you know, that's I think
- 7:06Speaker 3: that was a function of using them. Was a function
- 7:08Speaker 3: of Travis Adams through two plus almost three innings in
- 7:12Speaker 3: the cornfield on Thursday, and he was down, and I
- 7:14Speaker 3: don't think that he wanted to go to Thunderburk and
- 7:17Speaker 3: some other guys, So that one, you know that that
- 7:20Speaker 3: was definitely a very interesting inning the way it blew up,
- 7:24Speaker 3: and especially when Scott hits the home run off the
- 7:27Speaker 3: the foul pole and all of a sudden, it's like
- 7:29Speaker 3: this game is over, like go home, you know, don't enjoy.
- 7:33Speaker 2: The rest of your night.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Yesterday, especially like it picked up speed quick and it
- 7:39Speaker 3: was the same part of the order. I mean that
- 7:41Speaker 3: top of that Philly lineup is is pretty good, and
- 7:44Speaker 3: you would like it was a little surprising not to
- 7:47Speaker 3: see something get up and at least.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Be loose alec Fahme.
- 7:51Speaker 3: I don't think they're gonna have him back at the
- 7:53Speaker 3: park anytime soon. Five hits on Saturday, two hits yesterday,
- 7:57Speaker 3: hit the three on Homer, and Shelton was asked and
- 8:00Speaker 3: he was very terse on that one.
- 8:01Speaker 2: He said, the question came.
- 8:04Speaker 3: Up like, was was some maybe pulling him a batter early?
- 8:07Speaker 3: And he said, hey, he was at sixty seven pitches
- 8:10Speaker 3: and in complete control, and that was That was the
- 8:13Speaker 3: extent of the.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Answer on that one.
- 8:15Speaker 3: So I think both blew up real quick on him,
- 8:18Speaker 3: although the other one was kind of slow and painful
- 8:21Speaker 3: because it was three straight walks, right, I you know,
- 8:26Speaker 3: both innings were crucial I mean, they played critical roles.
- 8:30Speaker 3: Phillies were out of it until that four run rally
- 8:33Speaker 3: on Sunday and then you know, their their eighth inning
- 8:35Speaker 3: rally was was completely different and also devastating in its
- 8:40Speaker 3: own way.
- 8:42Speaker 1: And the Twins didn't hit well enough on Saturday to
- 8:44Speaker 1: win anyway.
- 8:45Speaker 2: So yeah, one for fourteen with runners in scoring position Sunday.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Sunday they had and you know, I guess Creamer's bad
- 8:52Speaker 1: inning maybe snuck up a little bit more like he
- 8:56Speaker 1: had the two walks in the sixth, but then a
- 8:58Speaker 1: Rise grounded out to score that first run, and then
- 9:00Speaker 1: all of a sudden a home run.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Right right, He had six, He had six strikeouts, Like
- 9:06Speaker 3: Kramer looked amazing. That's the thing. That's the part that
- 9:09Speaker 3: Kramer looked amazing. And I do see. The one part
- 9:11Speaker 3: that I get with that is was sticking with him
- 9:14Speaker 3: is this is your guy. Uh, you want to test
- 9:19Speaker 3: him and see what he can do, and you're not
- 9:20Speaker 3: at that point putting him.
- 9:23Speaker 2: In a spot where he's going to lose the game.
- 9:25Speaker 3: So I get that, But also, like this team has
- 9:28Speaker 3: lost a bunch of games, they're in a really tough stretch,
- 9:31Speaker 3: and so maybe urgency is needed there too, Like it's
- 9:34Speaker 3: it's a really tough line to balance, and of course
- 9:38Speaker 3: we talk about it the next day when it doesn't
- 9:40Speaker 3: go their way because it was a terrible loss, and
- 9:44Speaker 3: so like it's all you know, it's it.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Definitely is one of those things.
- 9:50Speaker 3: I bet that if he knew what was going to happen,
- 9:52Speaker 3: Derek Sholton probably would have changed how he managed it.
- 9:55Speaker 3: But at the same time, you want to probably see
- 9:57Speaker 3: if Dean Kramer can get through it, because he had
- 9:59Speaker 3: gotten in and out of jams in the first two
- 10:02Speaker 3: games he's been with the Twins. He's had traffic before
- 10:04Speaker 3: and he's done artful job of dodging that traffic, and
- 10:08Speaker 3: this time he didn't.
- 10:10Speaker 1: The team just hasn't gotten to those late innings with
- 10:13Speaker 1: a lead to protect very often lately since they made
- 10:15Speaker 1: all those trades for those relievers, So in those situations,
- 10:20Speaker 1: it's tough to see it happen that way. But you're
- 10:22Speaker 1: rightde In obviously, if he gets out of that with
- 10:24Speaker 1: only the one run, allout or whatever, then that's not
- 10:26Speaker 1: a talking point today, and you could take him out
- 10:29Speaker 1: of a reliever could come in and give up those runs
- 10:30Speaker 1: and you're saying why the hell did you take out
- 10:32Speaker 1: the guy who had been dominating for right five?
- 10:36Speaker 3: It's it's uh, it's why we do this, right, it's
- 10:39Speaker 3: the you're damned if you do, damned if you don't.
- 10:41Speaker 3: But it's harder to see when you're four in ten
- 10:43Speaker 3: in August. That's the part that's true. They're four and
- 10:46Speaker 3: ten since basically the bulk of these trades right now,
- 10:50Speaker 3: and you know you're starting to see them slip a
- 10:52Speaker 3: little bit. Like you said, one and a half out
- 10:53Speaker 3: in the wild card. Uh, the division is the White
- 10:56Speaker 3: Sox had a great weekend in Detroit, swept Detroit, and
- 11:00Speaker 3: so the White Sox put some distance between themselves and
- 11:02Speaker 3: the Twins.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Is that five and a half in.
- 11:04Speaker 1: The division or is it six six games though? Yep, yeah,
- 11:09Speaker 1: yep helps Twins in the wildcard race with the Tigers,
- 11:13Speaker 1: but not so much in the Al Central.
- 11:16Speaker 6: Hey, for those of you that are on your phone,
- 11:18Speaker 6: it's very often, or even if you don't use it much,
- 11:21Speaker 6: you should check out your wireless bill and make sure
- 11:23Speaker 6: that it is treating you well. It's summertime. You're feeling good, right, AJ,
- 11:27Speaker 6: But are you spending too much on your wireless bill

- 12:18Speaker 1: If you'd like to read more about this horrible weekend
- 12:21Speaker 1: in the twin season, and has written about it on
- 12:24Speaker 1: The Athletic. His latest story from yesterday after the blown
- 12:28Speaker 1: five run lead, but twins sixty and sixty five, plenty
- 12:33Speaker 1: of questions to answer some other things from the game
- 12:38Speaker 1: or the games. I should say over the weekend Byron
- 12:40Speaker 1: Buxton has had a bit of a struggle since he's
- 12:42Speaker 1: come back from the IL. I'd say just one hits,
- 12:46Speaker 1: I believe on Thursday, Yes, the dubious double that we
- 12:49Speaker 1: talked about at the last show at the Field of
- 12:51Speaker 1: Dreams game, but five strikeouts over the weekend. He was
- 12:55Speaker 1: actually up as the potential winning run in the ninth
- 12:58Speaker 1: against Joan Duran, which was poetic Tyler that the former
- 13:03Speaker 1: twin facing the current All Star and it went down.
- 13:07Speaker 1: But been a rough weekend for him obviously early yet.
- 13:10Speaker 1: But and he I know he talked in after the
- 13:13Speaker 1: game was there and he seemed not to be as
- 13:16Speaker 1: concerned as I'm sounding right now.
- 13:20Speaker 3: Yeah, he did say, regardless of how recent he came back,
- 13:26Speaker 3: that he should be hitting better with runners in score position.
- 13:29Speaker 3: I didn't ask the question. I didn't get a chance
- 13:31Speaker 3: to ask that question. He volunteered it before I even
- 13:35Speaker 3: got there, and.
- 13:37Speaker 2: That took that on himself. We were talking about just
- 13:39Speaker 2: the feeling in the clubhouse.
- 13:40Speaker 1: He just he knew you were going to ask it.
- 13:42Speaker 1: He didn't want to waste his time, so he just
- 13:44Speaker 1: got his talk.
- 13:46Speaker 3: But right now he looks like a guy who has
- 13:48Speaker 3: had forty one played appearances since July fifth, Like you
- 13:52Speaker 3: know that he's struggling, and he came back without a rehab.
- 13:56Speaker 3: And I get why they do that because the twins
- 13:58Speaker 3: have talked about it. When you're facing track man inside
- 14:01Speaker 3: the clubhouse, you get a pretty good chance to ramp
- 14:04Speaker 3: up against better pitching than you're gonna see in the
- 14:07Speaker 3: minor leagues because that machine is so accurate as far
- 14:10Speaker 3: as who you're facing and what it's going to look
- 14:13Speaker 3: like in that stuff. And that's Derek Shelton talked about
- 14:16Speaker 3: that maybe with Jose Ramirez when he came back without
- 14:20Speaker 3: his rehab after five weeks off. Buckston certainly is struggling.
- 14:26Speaker 3: They need that spark from him. But we mostly talked about,
- 14:30Speaker 3: you know, the mood in the in the clubhouse, and
- 14:33Speaker 3: we can get that to a second. But I mean, Duff,
- 14:35Speaker 3: what what are you seeing with the buck at the plate?
- 14:38Speaker 4: Yeah, it is, it's tough with the game, you know,
- 14:40Speaker 4: the quality of bat's you know, just seeing the competition.
- 14:44Speaker 4: You know, you can do so much in a cage,
- 14:46Speaker 4: but it is tough, and you know, especially with him,
- 14:49Speaker 4: it's a hip you know, and hitting involves i mean.
- 14:53Speaker 5: Everybody's seeing his stance.
- 14:54Speaker 4: You know, he torks those hips and really fires those
- 14:57Speaker 4: things through and you know, whether it's a little you know,
- 15:00Speaker 4: just a tick below what he's expecting to be and
- 15:03Speaker 4: that turns a squared up ball into a foul ball
- 15:06Speaker 4: or a swinging miss, or you're a little late. You know,
- 15:08Speaker 4: it's little things can affect your swings. And to me,
- 15:12Speaker 4: that's what it just looks like. He's you know, we'll
- 15:16Speaker 4: call it eighty percent when ninety percent is all he
- 15:20Speaker 4: needs to be a great, an elite player, you know,
- 15:23Speaker 4: and it's just quality reps. It's you know, who stay tonight.
- 15:27Speaker 4: It doesn't click for him all of a sudden. You know,
- 15:29Speaker 4: it's just one he's he's a guy. He's so explosive
- 15:32Speaker 4: and it can happen at any time, you know, and
- 15:35Speaker 4: we've I said it before. It's running into some good
- 15:38Speaker 4: pitching too. I mean he's facing Doron in the ninth. Like,
- 15:42Speaker 4: put anybody in that situation, they're gonna have a tough
- 15:44Speaker 4: at bat. You know, it's it's like, yes, it's that
- 15:47Speaker 4: it's also unfortunate to us. There's fans and you know,
- 15:50Speaker 4: loving the Twins, like we want Byron in that spot
- 15:53Speaker 4: to do what Byron can do and where we you know,
- 15:57Speaker 4: we've come to expect it at times.
- 15:58Speaker 5: You know, I can still We'll see in my head.
- 16:00Speaker 4: I think I think about it often when he's up
- 16:02Speaker 4: to the plate, when he faced his Moon or it
- 16:05Speaker 4: was Hendrix, I think opening Day when you're you know,
- 16:08Speaker 4: one hundred and two above the zone and he just
- 16:10Speaker 4: smacked it, and it's like we all know that is
- 16:13Speaker 4: in that body at any given time, and so you know,
- 16:16Speaker 4: kind of like Roy's hitting the Grand Slams. You know,
- 16:18Speaker 4: it was just like it becomes something we expected versus
- 16:21Speaker 4: hope for, you know, and it's you know, Buck's gonna
- 16:25Speaker 4: be fine. As long as he's actually healthy and feeling good,
- 16:28Speaker 4: it's gonna work itself out. You know, the averages are there.
- 16:31Speaker 4: You know, he's he's he's gonna hit his two fifties.
- 16:33Speaker 4: You know, he could get on a tear and five
- 16:35Speaker 4: home runs this week. You know, it's just getting his
- 16:37Speaker 4: feet under him right, you know, hopefully this weekend I mean,
- 16:40Speaker 4: I guess what, this is only his third third game
- 16:42Speaker 4: off that the injured.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:47Speaker 4: So and it's against Phillies, like faced Lozardo, which he was,
- 16:51Speaker 4: you know, always incredible, you know, that was like that
- 16:54Speaker 4: pull out and I was like, I forget that they
- 16:57Speaker 4: just casually have him in that rotation, you.
- 16:59Speaker 5: Know, as they're like three or four.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Yeah, but it was just.
- 17:02Speaker 4: It's a good team. The Phillies are really good, you know,
- 17:05Speaker 4: And that's kind of part of it.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Too, Lozardo.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Let me just give you as a stat because I
- 17:10Speaker 3: kept track of it in game. They got those two
- 17:13Speaker 3: doubles the first thing and the second inning, and both
- 17:16Speaker 3: times afterwards Lozardo and I think lazarda went two balls
- 17:21Speaker 3: on Byron right there was a double, and then went.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Two balls on Byron on Saturday. And then in those.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Five at bats he went eighteen straight strikes and he
- 17:31Speaker 3: struck out five guys like he went he was down
- 17:34Speaker 3: to ot to Byron with a runner on second and
- 17:37Speaker 3: struck out three in a row.
- 17:38Speaker 2: It was Austin Martin let off the.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Game with a double, and then the next thing, whoever
- 17:43Speaker 3: it was, was a one out double, and it was
- 17:45Speaker 3: just strike strikes, strike, strike strike like he was. There
- 17:49Speaker 3: was so much moving on the sweeper and his bat like,
- 17:51Speaker 3: my goodness, that was like unfair, that was cheap code
- 17:55Speaker 3: good And.
- 17:57Speaker 5: Some of those swings were like guys were fight, yeah
- 18:00Speaker 5: of their lives.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Hey.
- 18:02Speaker 3: And what's crazy is on Saturday you had the brooks
- 18:06Speaker 3: Lee single, you had Keisholl single, and then you had
- 18:08Speaker 3: the brooks Lee single and Keishall got a great read.
- 18:13Speaker 3: The balls hit two, you know, a little bit to
- 18:16Speaker 3: the right of the center fielder, like as he's playing
- 18:19Speaker 3: so left of the center fielder like it was. It
- 18:21Speaker 3: was sort of in shallow left center and the center
- 18:24Speaker 3: fielder was shaded towards right. He had a long way
- 18:27Speaker 3: to go. He came in, got it. Keishall had such
- 18:30Speaker 3: a good read that Brego Mombrego third base centem aggressively.
- 18:34Speaker 3: I love the player down one nothing and Keishol was
- 18:38Speaker 3: so close. I don't know how they've had enough there
- 18:41Speaker 3: to overturn, like I you know, on on the screens,
- 18:45Speaker 3: we it was on the screens we saw you could
- 18:49Speaker 3: see maybe that he did tag him from behind. But
- 18:51Speaker 3: also I know that there are sixteen angles used versus
- 18:55Speaker 3: the four that we see so clearly the Phillies felt
- 18:59Speaker 3: compelled to do that. But that was how close this
- 19:01Speaker 3: game was to being tied on Saturday. And and then
- 19:06Speaker 3: you're that close a replay, right and it explodes five
- 19:10Speaker 3: minutes later.
- 19:11Speaker 2: That just kind of encapsule until that weekend went for them.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Uh, that was a softball play. Sending the runner from first.
- 19:22Speaker 2: They were trying to catch him. They were trying to
- 19:24Speaker 2: catch him off. Make them make it.
- 19:26Speaker 3: Absolutely, they were trying to, Yes, exactly it was. It
- 19:29Speaker 3: was make them make a play and they did.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:34Speaker 3: It was just man, I mean, like I liked that send,
- 19:37Speaker 3: the way Lizardo was pitching or.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Two outs, yeah too, And yeah, I mean not like
- 19:43Speaker 1: they had a lot of other opportunities to score, so
- 19:45Speaker 1: why not. Another note from the weekend. Uh, pretty good
- 19:51Speaker 1: showing from Kayln Culpepper. Two hits on so he actually
- 19:54Speaker 1: had a double off of off of Lizardo and a
- 19:57Speaker 1: hit off of Juan Duran not. He also didn't strike
- 20:01Speaker 1: out on Sunday, ending a streak of six five straight
- 20:04Speaker 1: games with strikeouts. Still high in that department, but he's
- 20:07Speaker 1: hit safely and fourced eight games now averages up to
- 20:09Speaker 1: two fifty.
- 20:12Speaker 2: I love that.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Durana bat, like you're talking about facing the Premierre closer
- 20:18Speaker 3: in baseball or one of them.
- 20:19Speaker 2: And he gets behind one, two and.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Then fouled off three straight pitches and like was not
- 20:26Speaker 3: getting great cuts, but was like just doing enough to
- 20:29Speaker 3: stay in there. And then he takes a ball, he
- 20:31Speaker 3: fouls off another pitch, and then he kind of sawed
- 20:34Speaker 3: off his bat, a funny reaction from him with the
- 20:37Speaker 3: he had the just the knob left in his hand.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Basically the bat died a good soldier, basically like it
- 20:45Speaker 3: was a good it was a good depth for the
- 20:47Speaker 3: bat to broken bat single, like to get there and
- 20:52Speaker 3: just face Duran and extend the rally and and make
- 20:57Speaker 3: himself the tie and run. That was a big moment
- 21:00Speaker 3: for him, I thought, And you're right, the strike huns
- 21:02Speaker 3: are high. It's like nine and nine and twenty four bats,
- 21:05Speaker 3: so I think it's nine and twenty six played appearances,
- 21:07Speaker 3: maybe a twenty seventh plate appearance or twenty eight with
- 21:10Speaker 3: the hit by pitches, so still striking out about thirty
- 21:14Speaker 3: to thirty three percent time.
- 21:15Speaker 2: You need to get that number down.
- 21:17Speaker 3: But I think you know, between the defensive side of
- 21:21Speaker 3: things and between the at bats, we're seeing the quality
- 21:24Speaker 3: of at bats. He's coming along and he's not a
- 21:28Speaker 3: guy that they're looking at at the ninth spot and going, man,
- 21:31Speaker 3: this is not going well.
- 21:33Speaker 2: It's it's actually going very well. You know, the numbers
- 21:37Speaker 2: will fluctuate.
- 21:37Speaker 3: He'll go out tonight and have an over three and
- 21:39Speaker 3: then be like, oh man, that averages down to one
- 21:42Speaker 3: ninety or something like that because it's so few at bats.
- 21:44Speaker 2: But I mean, like it was a hit a two
- 21:47Speaker 2: hit game.
- 21:47Speaker 3: On Saturday, and he got on base twice, got on
- 21:51Speaker 3: in the ninth or had it had a hit at
- 21:53Speaker 3: the Field of Dreams too, So like it was a
- 21:56Speaker 3: decent showing against a good opponent for him, thought, and like, yeah,
- 22:01Speaker 3: not everything was bad about this weekend.
- 22:04Speaker 2: That was that was good.
- 22:06Speaker 1: We're gonna have to have a segment called silver linings
- 22:08Speaker 1: for the last two months of this season.
- 22:10Speaker 2: I think.
- 22:10Speaker 1: But no, but like obviously he had the homer in
- 22:13Speaker 1: his first game, vibes are good, and then struggled the
- 22:17Speaker 1: next two. He was ohover four with four k's in
- 22:20Speaker 1: his third game against the Orioles, did have a sacrifice
- 22:22Speaker 1: fly to. But a nice stretch of four games and Tyler,
- 22:25Speaker 1: we were talking before the show, like after that Baltimore game,
- 22:29Speaker 1: when you come up to that the next night, you're
- 22:30Speaker 1: looking up the scoreboard and it says next to your
- 22:33Speaker 1: name that you're hitting one eve as a rookie.
- 22:35Speaker 4: Like it doesn't matter if it's your first game or
- 22:38Speaker 4: your one hundredth, but when your average is that low,
- 22:41Speaker 4: you can be as positive as.
- 22:43Speaker 5: You want mentally.
- 22:44Speaker 4: But those scoreboards are really big, and those numbers are
- 22:47Speaker 4: even bigger, and so it is nice, like to get
- 22:50Speaker 4: that monkey off your back, you know, and and like
- 22:52Speaker 4: get some maybe some quality at bats at that point,
- 22:55Speaker 4: like you know, play, you know, like I keep saying
- 22:58Speaker 4: that that that team in particular, you know that we
- 23:00Speaker 4: played the Dodgers recently, but the Phillies is another one
- 23:02Speaker 4: of those, like they're kind of one of those faces
- 23:04Speaker 4: of baseball, you know, And for him, I wouldn't be
- 23:08Speaker 4: shocked if he, you know, you said, of welcome to
- 23:10Speaker 4: the big League's kind of moment like going to first
- 23:13Speaker 4: base and seeing you know, Harper and a rise, like
- 23:16Speaker 4: seeing all these superstars you know, in person, and and
- 23:20Speaker 4: hopefully he takes this weekend as a you know, I
- 23:22Speaker 4: belong kind of moment. You know, he's getting his hits,
- 23:25Speaker 4: he's earning his stripes. You know, he's he's getting these
- 23:28Speaker 4: games under his belt, and that's you know what, that's
- 23:30Speaker 4: why you call guys up when they're ready, not when
- 23:33Speaker 4: you when you need them in a bind. You know,
- 23:35Speaker 4: they had a spot to make it make sense for
- 23:37Speaker 4: him to come up, and he's taking the opportunity and
- 23:40Speaker 4: it seems like he's getting settled in.
- 23:43Speaker 5: You know, he's getting more and more reps.
- 23:45Speaker 4: I'm sure they're working him in between games, you know,
- 23:47Speaker 4: on the field, doing early work things like that. You know,
- 23:49Speaker 4: even just taking VP, you know in that stadium is
- 23:53Speaker 4: going to help you get better because the visuals are
- 23:55Speaker 4: you know, you just get used to seeing the ball
- 23:57Speaker 4: fly through the air. You know, it's just a different
- 23:59Speaker 4: environment sometimes. And you know he's going to be he's
- 24:03Speaker 4: an elite talent.
- 24:04Speaker 5: He's a great player.
- 24:05Speaker 4: And so now it's once he gets his feet under
- 24:07Speaker 4: him really well and solidified, like you know, it's he's
- 24:11Speaker 4: going to get comfortable and then he's going to really
- 24:13Speaker 4: get to be his best self. And you know, hopefully
- 24:16Speaker 4: this is a good trend and Nick he keeps going
- 24:18Speaker 4: this way.
- 24:20Speaker 1: We'll take a break, come back, talk about Austin Martin's
- 24:22Speaker 1: injury and the Atlanta Braves on deck.
- 24:25Speaker 6: Right after this, we have pop in colors for mack Weldon.

- 25:25Speaker 5: L uh what else?
- 25:30Speaker 1: Well, actually, before we continue programming, No, we're gonna have
- 25:33Speaker 1: a mailbag show this week. So if you have any
- 25:34Speaker 1: questions for us on the Twins, feels like a great
- 25:37Speaker 1: time to ask for this, please yeah, please leave them
- 25:40Speaker 1: in the comments below. Find us on X or if
- 25:43Speaker 1: you see me on the street, you know famous as
- 25:45Speaker 1: I am, say hi and ask me a question and
- 25:47Speaker 1: I'll try to remember it for you. Anyway, final final
- 25:52Speaker 1: thoughts from the Phillies series. We'll get to Austin Martin
- 25:54Speaker 1: in a second, but also look out Walker Jenkins Kyle
- 25:57Speaker 1: Schwarbers now saving young Twins fans too out there. You
- 26:00Speaker 1: see that before the game on Sunday.
- 26:04Speaker 2: I saw the highlight of that. I saw the highlight
- 26:07Speaker 2: of it, and that was cool.
- 26:09Speaker 3: Well, when the kids were running out, they do that
- 26:11Speaker 3: Sunday thing where the kids run onto the field. Yeah,
- 26:14Speaker 3: I get to have a cool moment. I went into
- 26:16Speaker 3: the Philly side obviously, talked to Duran on Saturday and
- 26:20Speaker 3: shore Burn I stopped by to talk to him about
- 26:22Speaker 3: the Indiana football run because that's my adopted team. Last year,
- 26:28Speaker 3: my my significant other went to Indiana and so I
- 26:32Speaker 3: got to nerd out with him because I saw him
- 26:34Speaker 3: in Atlanta.
- 26:34Speaker 2: I wasn't going to approach him in Atlanta.
- 26:36Speaker 3: After the game after they beat the crap out of Oregon,
- 26:40Speaker 3: and it was a it was cool just talking to
- 26:43Speaker 3: him about that.
- 26:43Speaker 2: And then he goes out and saves that kid.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Like they're throwing, like the pitchers warming up at that point,
- 26:49Speaker 3: or maybe it was I don't know what was going on,
- 26:53Speaker 3: but he.
- 26:53Speaker 5: Clearly was right for the game started like it was
- 26:57Speaker 5: like yeah, starter, the kids.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Run, yeah, yeah.
- 27:02Speaker 3: The kids are running to their positions and hanging out
- 27:05Speaker 3: with the major leaguers, and then they're running off the field.
- 27:07Speaker 3: There's a lot of traffic there and you're counting on
- 27:10Speaker 3: like anywhere from four to ten and eleven year old
- 27:14Speaker 3: kids to navigate a baseball field with baseball players on it,
- 27:18Speaker 3: there could be some serious traffic, and that was cool
- 27:21Speaker 3: for Schwarber.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Perhaps the biggest play that game on Saturday came in
- 27:27Speaker 1: the top of the eighth. Luisa Rise hit a ball
- 27:29Speaker 1: left field that Austin Martin got there. He had his
- 27:33Speaker 1: glove on it and just couldn't squeeze the catch and
- 27:36Speaker 1: the ball bounce into the stands for a ground rule
- 27:38Speaker 1: double that scored the tying run, and obviously the Phillies
- 27:43Speaker 1: went on to score twice more in the eighth after that.
- 27:45Speaker 1: That would have been the just the second out of
- 27:47Speaker 1: the inning, I believe, yes, second out of the inning.
- 27:51Speaker 1: But the bigger news for the Twins after the player
- 27:54Speaker 1: at the end of the play, it seemed like Austin
- 27:56Speaker 1: Martin injured himself and maybe headed to the IL. Dan,
- 28:00Speaker 1: We're so not sure.
- 28:02Speaker 3: Possibly, Yeah, I know he's getting in ire. He's going
- 28:06Speaker 3: for imaging this morning. And so it was a left
- 28:09Speaker 3: ham string strain.
- 28:10Speaker 2: I believe left. It was a hamstring strain. I know
- 28:12Speaker 2: that much. Okay, sorry if you're not known the leg.
- 28:15Speaker 3: But he h, he definitely got injured on the play.
- 28:21Speaker 2: And what it could mean, I don't know. Like we were.
- 28:25Speaker 3: I just did the math yesterday and to see they're
- 28:27Speaker 3: gonna need an outfielder because Martin has been playing platuning
- 28:32Speaker 3: with Trevor Larnik, so it would be an outfielder that
- 28:34Speaker 3: they're looking for. The only right handed hitting outfielder on
- 28:38Speaker 3: the forty man right now is Gaby Gonzalez, who came
- 28:41Speaker 3: up earlier this year and went one for two over
- 28:44Speaker 3: the weekend that he was up in Chicago in May.
- 28:48Speaker 3: But he's not performing all that well. Like I think
- 28:51Speaker 3: it's got seven to twenty ohps at triple A, which is,
- 28:54Speaker 3: you know, that's well below the league average, like forty
- 28:57Speaker 3: six points below the league average. He's playing like every
- 29:00Speaker 3: other day right now. Obviously people are gonna clamor for
- 29:04Speaker 3: Walker Jenkins.
- 29:05Speaker 2: I don't see that's gonna be the move. He's not
- 29:07Speaker 2: even on the four.
- 29:11Speaker 3: If they're gonna make that move. If they're gonna do it,
- 29:13Speaker 3: it's gonna be a manual ord he goes. That would
- 29:16Speaker 3: if they're gonna go uh, he's on the forty. Man,
- 29:20Speaker 3: he'll be out of options after this year, I believe.
- 29:23Speaker 2: I gotta check on.
- 29:24Speaker 3: That, But that would be the move, the big one,
- 29:28Speaker 3: if they're gonna do it. I just don't know what
- 29:30Speaker 3: they're gonna do. And obviously who knows. I mean, Austin
- 29:33Speaker 3: Martin could be fine today, wake up fine, but hamstrings
- 29:38Speaker 3: are not something.
- 29:39Speaker 2: It's He's had this.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Issue before for sure, and that was by the way,
- 29:42Speaker 3: that was such a tough play, but he did get
- 29:46Speaker 3: his glove on it.
- 29:46Speaker 2: I'm sure he thought he you know, should have made
- 29:49Speaker 2: the play.
- 29:50Speaker 3: It's slicing off the lefty's bat. It's a difficult long run,
- 29:54Speaker 3: there's some spin there and he got the glove on
- 29:57Speaker 3: it kicks off. Andrew Morris had to feel a little
- 30:00Speaker 3: snake bit with the way that inning went. That play
- 30:02Speaker 3: happens for him and the pop up off of was
- 30:07Speaker 3: it Boem's bat, it was he dealt like he singles
- 30:12Speaker 3: down the line, it gets over Royce Lewis's head and
- 30:15Speaker 3: lands in there in no man's land, and then the
- 30:18Speaker 3: two run, go ahead single. The one thing that Morris
- 30:21Speaker 3: is dealing with right now, he's not striking out guys
- 30:24Speaker 3: the way he was earlier, Like I duff, is there
- 30:27Speaker 3: something to that where like the first time that you
- 30:31Speaker 3: became a reliever, did you later in the year run
- 30:35Speaker 3: out of gas a little bit?
- 30:36Speaker 2: Just because you you know frequency? Like what what what
- 30:40Speaker 2: do you guys go through with that?
- 30:41Speaker 4: I think it's definitely like and even back to pre
- 30:44Speaker 4: lip like any guys, it's it's a long season and
- 30:49Speaker 4: when you get tired, you know, the saying I've heard
- 30:51Speaker 4: before is either lose your vela or your location, you know,
- 30:55Speaker 4: and it's sometimes you're just not as sharp the stuff
- 30:58Speaker 4: the villa might still be there, the movement might be there,
- 31:00Speaker 4: but it's just the there's something to the way, you know,
- 31:04Speaker 4: even how you look as a picture on the mount
- 31:06Speaker 4: to the hitter that changes, you know, just how they
- 31:08Speaker 4: see it. And it's it's minimal things, but it you know,
- 31:13Speaker 4: for example, with him, like he's got the hundred, you know,
- 31:16Speaker 4: he's missing a little bit. You know, maybe he's spraying
- 31:18Speaker 4: it a little bit, so he's when he's in the zone,
- 31:20Speaker 4: he's over the heart of the plate a little bit
- 31:22Speaker 4: more than the edges, you know. And then sometimes, like
- 31:25Speaker 4: you said, the babbit gods are just against you. You know,
- 31:27Speaker 4: it's like they touch it and it goes fair somehow,
- 31:31Speaker 4: you know, and or or you get a lot of
- 31:33Speaker 4: foul balls instead of the swing and miss. And it's
- 31:36Speaker 4: just there's certain things where stuff actually can In my head,
- 31:40Speaker 4: it's hard to say this like and be serious. But
- 31:42Speaker 4: at the same time, sometimes you're just have really good
- 31:45Speaker 4: stuff and guys can't just hit the ball how they
- 31:48Speaker 4: would like to, and so you get those squirrely plays
- 31:50Speaker 4: and things like that.
- 31:51Speaker 5: You know, they miss hit.
- 31:52Speaker 4: Balls versus hitting it where your defenders are supposed to be.
- 31:55Speaker 4: Things like that, you know, it's just baseball is a funny.
- 31:59Speaker 5: Game, and it's it goes in waves.
- 32:02Speaker 4: And you know the swing and miss, Like maybe it's
- 32:04Speaker 4: something is just a usage thing. You know, maybe maybe
- 32:07Speaker 4: switch it up. Maybe you know his tunneling, Like I'd
- 32:10Speaker 4: have to go and like really look at his outings
- 32:12Speaker 4: to tell you like maybe he's not sequencing right or
- 32:15Speaker 4: tunneling well, or you know, leaning too heavy on stuff
- 32:18Speaker 4: because his I mean, his stuff is electric, you know,
- 32:20Speaker 4: his slider or cutter. But you know it's a low nineties,
- 32:23Speaker 4: like he's up to one hundred and one. Like it's
- 32:25Speaker 4: it's not a stuff thing. It's it's if I had
- 32:28Speaker 4: to guess, it's probably an execution thing. And with that
- 32:31Speaker 4: just comes it's a full season. He's thrown a lot
- 32:33Speaker 4: of innings, a lot of leverage. Like it's just it's
- 32:36Speaker 4: taxing sometimes and you know, like I said about Byron,
- 32:40Speaker 4: you know some of these sometimes it's just a day
- 32:42Speaker 4: and switch flips and then you're back to normal and
- 32:44Speaker 4: you know, nothing changed.
- 32:46Speaker 5: Uh, you know in his case barring again, nothing's bothering.
- 32:50Speaker 5: It's just a it's just bad luck.
- 32:51Speaker 4: And he had it if he had a great run
- 32:53Speaker 4: when he went like fourteen games without a run or whatever.
- 32:56Speaker 4: It was earlier like he had a really nice stretch.
- 32:59Speaker 4: Law of our just a couple of bad ones are
- 33:01Speaker 4: going to be in there, so you know, I think
- 33:03Speaker 4: he'll be fine. You know, it's just kind of the
- 33:05Speaker 4: dog days of August.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Speaking of the babbit felt like he was.
- 33:10Speaker 3: Yeah, sorry, it felt like it was due just because
- 33:14Speaker 3: that the semi balls had been in play with him
- 33:17Speaker 3: more so, uh four point thirty two year in the
- 33:20Speaker 3: last nine He's only struck out a batter in three
- 33:23Speaker 3: of those last nine games, four strikeouts overall. So yesterday
- 33:28Speaker 3: I did change it. It was like a one to
- 33:29Speaker 3: twenty three era in his last eight. He was managing it,
- 33:33Speaker 3: but his fielding independent pitching suggested this might come and
- 33:37Speaker 3: and it did.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Get my story. So it's yeah.
- 33:41Speaker 1: I was gonna say, speaking of babbit gods again, it's
- 33:43Speaker 1: like a tongue twister, just those two words being against you.
- 33:46Speaker 1: The very next hit after arises ground reel double was
- 33:50Speaker 1: Alec Bohm hitting a mile high pop up that just
- 33:52Speaker 1: somehow found the grass inside fery territory and right field,
- 33:56Speaker 1: and then an error scored that that was actually hit.
- 33:59Speaker 1: That tide the game. I think I said earlier it
- 34:01Speaker 1: was a rising yeah double to tide it. But and
- 34:03Speaker 1: like certainly not putting the entirety of that loss on
- 34:08Speaker 1: Austin Martin by any means, but like the difference between
- 34:11Speaker 1: the like we hear about the Twins defensive issues and
- 34:14Speaker 1: a lot of times it shows itself as like a
- 34:16Speaker 1: booted ball on a ground ball that ends up leading
- 34:20Speaker 1: to nothing. But like, man if if Martin catches that ball,
- 34:24Speaker 1: it's probably the Twins probably win that game. And you know,
- 34:28Speaker 1: again not his fault, but that is that's a tough
- 34:32Speaker 1: one to swallow. And it was just a very.
- 34:34Speaker 3: Vision Royce had no shot on the bone pop up either,
- 34:39Speaker 3: Like when you see the replay, Royce is doing the
- 34:41Speaker 3: full sprint back and not in the spot where you
- 34:44Speaker 3: can look up. And I don't know if that's a like,
- 34:46Speaker 3: I don't know. I'm sure there's some first basemen that
- 34:49Speaker 3: are experienced enough to catch that. That was right in
- 34:53Speaker 3: the sun, like a tough I'm just guessing like the
- 34:57Speaker 3: former pitcher here would would have been like at the
- 35:01Speaker 3: end of the game, going damn tough one.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Definitely, that's just that's just a positioning hit, Like you know,
- 35:08Speaker 1: you just can't.
- 35:09Speaker 4: Yeah, but like a long way to go.
- 35:14Speaker 1: But after it bounced, Lewis and Keishield booted it and
- 35:18Speaker 1: the scorer anyway gave them the run on like like
- 35:21Speaker 1: the According to the scorer, it would have been bases
- 35:24Speaker 1: loaded with no run scoring if they had fielded that
- 35:26Speaker 1: cleanly because they gave the run on the air or
- 35:28Speaker 1: not on the hit. So yeah, I mean, I'm obviously
- 35:31Speaker 1: Harper had to hold up and make sure it dropped
- 35:33Speaker 1: before you could.
- 35:33Speaker 5: Run from the second to the scorer on that one.
- 35:35Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you.
- 35:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 35:38Speaker 1: So anyway, that's enough of the Phillies. Let's let's flush
- 35:44Speaker 1: that one.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Move on.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Yeah, get ready for get ready for some nostalgia, maybe
- 35:50Speaker 1: some more losses to because then even better teams come
- 35:53Speaker 1: into town. But the fun note is it's the thirty
- 35:56Speaker 1: fifth anniversary of the ninety one World Series. I'm sure
- 35:58Speaker 1: that'll come up once or one hundred times on the
- 36:00Speaker 1: broadcasts and throughout the stadium over the weekend.
- 36:02Speaker 2: I can't her back throw out the first pitch.
- 36:04Speaker 1: I was going to say, are there any are there
- 36:06Speaker 1: any festivities planned at all?
- 36:07Speaker 2: Dan?
- 36:08Speaker 3: We know I don't think there's any touchdown. I'm going
- 36:10Speaker 3: to I don't think maybe they'll tour the trophy. Maybe
- 36:15Speaker 3: like her back will come out.
- 36:16Speaker 5: They'll bring it out around, just have it out somewhere.
- 36:19Speaker 3: Like just do a dance, like dance around the infield. No,
- 36:22Speaker 3: I don't think they're going to need that.
- 36:24Speaker 1: At the very at the very least, have Dan Gladden
- 36:26Speaker 1: stand up and get around of applause winning run in
- 36:28Speaker 1: Game seven.
- 36:29Speaker 2: He'll be there. We know that highlight or too.
- 36:32Speaker 3: But I don't, you know, I don't know if the
- 36:34Speaker 3: mood is in the right place to do that and
- 36:35Speaker 3: troll and then and then lose.
- 36:39Speaker 5: What could go wrong?
- 36:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:44Speaker 1: As good as the Phillies were, the Braves are significantly better.
- 36:49Speaker 1: They are in first place in the Ale East seventy
- 36:53Speaker 1: my page is loading seventy four and fifty plus one
- 36:56Speaker 1: hundred and seventeen. In the run differential department. The Phillies
- 37:01Speaker 1: by the Larry plus nine, all thanks to the Twins.
- 37:02Speaker 1: They entered that series with a negative run differential until
- 37:07Speaker 1: sweeping the Twins. So it's gonna be tough. The pitchers
- 37:10Speaker 1: on the mound for the Braves also gonna be tough.
- 37:12Speaker 1: It's Martin Perez, Tyler Mallley and Chris Sale that may
- 37:17Speaker 1: have gotten the order right there.
- 37:18Speaker 3: So two former Twins there, Martin Perez and left Yeah,
- 37:23Speaker 3: two lefties and yeah, the Twins. The Twins have an
- 37:25Speaker 3: inter league problem. They are twenty six, thirteen and twenty
- 37:29Speaker 3: six against the National League this year with a minus
- 37:31Speaker 3: forty eight run differential. So they will be glad when
- 37:34Speaker 3: they get through this stretch of six more games against
- 37:38Speaker 3: very difficult NL teams because they go to San Diego
- 37:41Speaker 3: after this. And we've been talking about this stretch now
- 37:44Speaker 3: it's like, can you get can you get two or
- 37:47Speaker 3: three wins out of these six?
- 37:50Speaker 2: It's could be can you It's gonna be really challenging.
- 37:53Speaker 2: They need to figure it out right now.
- 37:56Speaker 1: It's Bailey Ober and Martin Perez Tonight, six forty start,
- 38:00Speaker 1: Zebbie Matthews, Tyler Mallley on Tuesday, excuse me, six forty
- 38:04Speaker 1: start Wednesday afternoon game, Taj Bradley in the All Star
- 38:08Speaker 1: Chris Sale.
- 38:11Speaker 5: We'll see.
- 38:12Speaker 1: I don't know. Three wins in these six would be tough.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Four would be amazing. I'll take two just to keep
- 38:21Speaker 1: things afloat. But we've been talking about trying to stay
- 38:25Speaker 1: within striking distance when they get to that stretch. Of
- 38:27Speaker 1: the schedule that has Chicago, Detroit, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, and
- 38:31Speaker 1: they've now slipped six games back of Chicago. So the
- 38:33Speaker 1: Central Division looking less attainable by the day at this rate,
- 38:37Speaker 1: but they're still very much in it. It's a crowded
- 38:39Speaker 1: wildcard race. Baltimore somehow has now emerged from the pits
- 38:45Speaker 1: to be the third wildcard team. The lay won three
- 38:48Speaker 1: games this weekend, twins, a game and a half back.
- 38:52Speaker 1: They'll try to ship away at it starting tonight. If
