- 0:04Speaker 1: your hosts me Gia Judice, Daisy.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Kent, and Jennifer Kessler.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Welcome back to another episode of Dirty Rush. Today, we're
- 0:15Speaker 3: going to be chatting with some of the biggest names
- 0:17Speaker 3: in an influencer world who also happened to know a
- 0:20Speaker 3: thing or two about sorority life.
- 0:22Speaker 1: They're sharing the real inside scoop, what rush was actually like,
- 0:27Speaker 1: the surprises along the way, and how they reflect on
- 0:29Speaker 1: the experience. Now, if you've ever wondered how to navigate
- 0:33Speaker 1: the scene and come out on top, these guests have
- 0:36Speaker 1: the tips, tricks and stories you won't want to miss.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Hey, Brooke, Hi, So where did you go to school?
- 0:45Speaker 4: I went to UCLA?
- 0:47Speaker 2: So what made you want to rush at UCLA?
- 0:51Speaker 5: I went to a really small high school, so I
- 0:55Speaker 5: think that was part of it, Like I really wanted
- 0:57Speaker 5: to embrace the big college experience. UCLA also Greek life.
- 1:05Speaker 5: I would say, there's a good amount of people in it,
- 1:07Speaker 5: but it's not something where it's this huge, all encompassing.
- 1:11Speaker 5: Everybody on the campus does it. So it definitely seemed
- 1:13Speaker 5: a lot more relaxed than some of the other schools,
- 1:15Speaker 5: which I was excited about. I definitely don't know how
- 1:19Speaker 5: much I would have fit in and like more of
- 1:21Speaker 5: a Southern rush culture where it was very intense, so
- 1:25Speaker 5: it felt like a good balance. And also going into school,
- 1:28Speaker 5: I'd talk to some girls who were in sororities and
- 1:30Speaker 5: they really enjoyed their experience.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Did you have any like stereotypes like going in and
- 1:36Speaker 3: you said, like in the South, how it was like
- 1:40Speaker 3: kind of know what it was going to be about.
- 1:43Speaker 5: I also was raised like in Tempe, Arizona, which is
- 1:46Speaker 5: like where ASU is, and ASU is like almost an
- 1:52Speaker 5: entirely different I feel like type and intense with sororities
- 1:58Speaker 5: where it is just like a huge part of a
- 2:00Speaker 5: lot of their lives. And I guess they had that stereotype.
- 2:06Speaker 5: And I also like had heard other like more negative stereotypes.
- 2:10Speaker 5: But at the end of the day, also like my
- 2:12Speaker 5: mom was in a sorority and like my middle name
- 2:15Speaker 5: is her little's name, Like that's.
- 2:18Speaker 4: How I don't know what they were wow.
- 2:22Speaker 5: So I also like in the back of my mind,
- 2:24Speaker 5: as much as I had heard stereotypes, I also grew
- 2:26Speaker 5: up with like, at the end of the day, a
- 2:29Speaker 5: lot of it is about sisterhood, and you will probably
- 2:32Speaker 5: meet your best friends for like, oh.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Your mom had a great experience, So that's definitely what
- 2:37Speaker 1: made you feel super positive going into it. Probably, Yeah,
- 2:42Speaker 1: did you go in with a dream house.
- 2:45Speaker 5: I was on the dance team in college and for
- 2:48Speaker 5: UCLA that means you have to move out like six
- 2:53Speaker 5: weeks early to start training, and all of those girls
- 2:56Speaker 5: were in houses. So I definitely knew by the time
- 3:00Speaker 5: that I rushed, like girls had been telling me like, oh,
- 3:03Speaker 5: like you're so this, or you're so that, or like
- 3:05Speaker 5: this is the vibe or that's the vibe.
- 3:07Speaker 4: I think I definitely knew I would.
- 3:09Speaker 5: Feel more comfortable being in a house where like I
- 3:11Speaker 5: had a teammate already because they already kind of knew
- 3:13Speaker 5: the vibe, which was like three or four of them.
- 3:16Speaker 5: But outside of that, I was trying as much as
- 3:19Speaker 5: possible to be like open mind, open mind.
- 3:23Speaker 3: That's awesome that you got to go and like did
- 3:26Speaker 3: you be there before and like meet some of the
- 3:28Speaker 3: girls and then going back to your like dance, so
- 3:31Speaker 3: you started doing like influencing a little like before you
- 3:36Speaker 3: went to school, right.
- 3:39Speaker 5: Honestly, kind of not really like I had when I
- 3:43Speaker 5: was younger, like growing up dancing, Like I had posted
- 3:46Speaker 5: dance videos in myself and that had like kind of
- 3:49Speaker 5: gained some traction. But going into college, I had like
- 3:54Speaker 5: I don't know, maybe six thousand Instagram followers and like
- 3:57Speaker 5: two thousand TikTok followers and like lee it now I
- 4:00Speaker 5: have like a lot more, but most of it like
- 4:04Speaker 5: started really like my freshman sophomore.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Year, you mainly documented your dan's life right now, and
- 4:13Speaker 1: then when did you start bringing in.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Sort of sorority life.
- 4:17Speaker 5: Yeah, so I actually ended up joining my sororities, like
- 4:22Speaker 5: board for mar you were uneasy, Yeah, so I started.
- 4:28Speaker 5: I did two years of holding leadership. So the first
- 4:31Speaker 5: year I was the director of PR and then the
- 4:34Speaker 5: second I was the vice president of marketing, and through
- 4:38Speaker 5: that I just got a lot more plugged in in general,
- 4:42Speaker 5: but then also got a lot more involved in like
- 4:45Speaker 5: rush TikTok because of that as well. So I feel
- 4:49Speaker 5: like probably my first year that I went through rush
- 4:52Speaker 5: on the other side, so like my sophomore fall, I
- 4:55Speaker 5: started making rush tiktoks and people started really in engaging
- 5:00Speaker 5: with that, and then after that I would make like
- 5:03Speaker 5: advice videos. I would also make advice or videos talking
- 5:06Speaker 5: about like my position and stuff and like my experience,
- 5:09Speaker 5: because it definitely was like wow, a lot of people
- 5:10Speaker 5: want to like know what this is like, So yeah.
- 5:14Speaker 3: It's so interesting because I feel like, I mean, I
- 5:16Speaker 3: grat we did I graduate. I graduated in twenty twenty one,
- 5:20Speaker 3: and I'm like, I feel like that's like soon. Like
- 5:24Speaker 3: that was like the phase when like, yeah, I was
- 5:26Speaker 3: like really blowing up, like they're like the year before
- 5:29Speaker 3: that over COVID, and so I feel like right after
- 5:32Speaker 3: that was when all this sorority like rush talk or
- 5:35Speaker 3: rush talk stuff happened. And it's just so interesting all
- 5:39Speaker 3: of it.
- 5:40Speaker 5: I won one hundred percent, even like I rushed in
- 5:43Speaker 5: twenty twenty one and that was like my fall, and
- 5:46Speaker 5: then I graduated in twenty twenty five, and even just
- 5:49Speaker 5: seeing the different types of expectations that evolved each year
- 5:54Speaker 5: of like what you're supposed to do during sorority recruitment
- 5:58Speaker 5: and the content you're supposed to produce and all of
- 6:01Speaker 5: this stuff like that evolution in the past four years
- 6:04Speaker 5: has been insane. So it's been very interesting to watch
- 6:07Speaker 5: and was really cool to be a part of that
- 6:09Speaker 5: like evolution of like getting these major brand deals and
- 6:12Speaker 5: like doing these big group TikTok dances and I'm excited
- 6:16Speaker 5: to see where it goes from here.
- 6:19Speaker 2: What do you think the biggest lie is that rush
- 6:23Speaker 2: tells you?
- 6:24Speaker 5: I would say, like, do you mean in terms of
- 6:26Speaker 5: like the rush process itself, like being in a sorority?
- 6:29Speaker 1: I would say Russian recruitment, Like how that differs from
- 6:34Speaker 1: actually then being in the sorority?
- 6:36Speaker 2: Do you think it's kind of like you know a.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Little tale and then you're in it and it's a
- 6:42Speaker 1: little different.
- 6:44Speaker 5: I would say, like, I guess rushing, you're definitely sold
- 6:51Speaker 5: like a fairy tale, Like it's definitely like everything's gonna
- 6:54Speaker 5: be great all the time. We're all so close, and
- 6:58Speaker 5: I think, especially going into my freshman year, like you
- 7:00Speaker 5: want to buy into that because you're like, I'm so scared,
- 7:03Speaker 5: Like I'm moving away from home, I don't know anybody,
- 7:06Speaker 5: all these things, and I definitely think that there's just
- 7:10Speaker 5: more ups and downs that you go through in college
- 7:14Speaker 5: that like you can't necessarily anticipate, of course, and I
- 7:18Speaker 5: think you're not going to be friends with everybody. That
- 7:21Speaker 5: was a huge thing for me freshman year. I was like, Okay,
- 7:23Speaker 5: you're thrown into this group of like two hundred girls.
- 7:27Speaker 5: There's going to be people you don't necessarily click with.
- 7:29Speaker 5: There's going to be people that you really click with,
- 7:31Speaker 5: And I think it takes time to find your people.
- 7:34Speaker 5: And I think that was like the biggest thing for
- 7:36Speaker 5: me freshman year of like expecting to immediately be in
- 7:39Speaker 5: this group of people and like everybody loves each other,
- 7:42Speaker 5: and that's just it's unrealistic anywhere. So I think definitely
- 7:45Speaker 5: like the time took me to find my people.
- 7:48Speaker 1: I totally agree with that because I think this story
- 7:53Speaker 1: that oh, we get into a sorority and they're you're
- 7:56Speaker 1: best friends for life instantly. I mean you have to
- 8:00Speaker 1: find your people regardless even if the sorority feels like, Okay,
- 8:04Speaker 1: these are the people that.
- 8:05Speaker 2: I am gravitating most towards.
- 8:08Speaker 1: It still takes time and it still takes work to
- 8:10Speaker 1: find the people that you really are going to connect with.
- 8:13Speaker 1: But leaving sorority life, you know, did do you now
- 8:17Speaker 1: have the people that are lifelong friends?
- 8:21Speaker 5: Like?
- 8:21Speaker 2: Were you able to find them?
- 8:23Speaker 6: One percent?
- 8:24Speaker 5: I am so grateful because I knew, like going into college,
- 8:29Speaker 5: especially being on the dance scene, that I was gonna
- 8:31Speaker 5: leave with like lifelong friends, and I was already like, okay,
- 8:35Speaker 5: I feel.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Like that really creates a bond as well, though.
- 8:38Speaker 5: Oh one hundred, even if it's just like a trauma
- 8:40Speaker 5: bond from like practices and.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Going through all this stuff every thing.
- 8:45Speaker 5: Yeah, but I also was really, like, I guess, pleasantly
- 8:50Speaker 5: surprised after four years of like, how many people that
- 8:54Speaker 5: I would consider like lifelong friends. Like it's so cheesy
- 8:57Speaker 5: when people say bride stains, but it's so true of
- 9:00Speaker 5: like girls that I met through Rush, like through Greek life,
- 9:05Speaker 5: like all of that. I definitely met my lifelong best friends.
- 9:08Speaker 5: And I'm very grateful that I participated in it.
- 9:12Speaker 4: It's so amazing.
- 9:13Speaker 3: Well, I'm so glad that you had such a good experience,
- 9:16Speaker 3: And thank you so much for coming on Brooke. It
- 9:19Speaker 3: was amazing talking to you.
- 9:20Speaker 4: We appreciate it. Hey Tanisha, Hi, are.
- 9:38Speaker 6: You in your dorm right now?
- 9:40Speaker 4: I'm in my dorm right now.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Amazing? Are you a freshman?
- 9:44Speaker 4: I am?
- 9:45Speaker 2: Oh my god, how are you liking it?
- 9:50Speaker 1: No?
- 9:50Speaker 4: No, no comment is oh oh I thought you didn't
- 9:53Speaker 4: hear me.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I was like, oh, no.
- 9:55Speaker 4: Okay, you're okay.
- 9:57Speaker 7: You know, honestly, I don't think it's really really bad.
- 10:00Speaker 7: You know, it definitely could be way worse. But I
- 10:04Speaker 7: miss my bed at home. It's way more comfy.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Yeah, oh so are you? Are you a little home sick?
- 10:10Speaker 7: I just came back from break, so that's probably what
- 10:13Speaker 7: it is. But I miss It's so weird because when
- 10:16Speaker 7: I'm home, I miss my college friends, but whenever I'm
- 10:19Speaker 7: here at college, I miss my hometown friends.
- 10:21Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 10:21Speaker 1: So yeah, it's that weird adjustment. I mean, it's your
- 10:25Speaker 1: freshman year.
- 10:26Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 10:26Speaker 1: My sister is in her sophomore year now, but and
- 10:31Speaker 1: my other sisters in her junior year. But my one
- 10:34Speaker 1: sister came home constantly and it was she just wanted
- 10:40Speaker 1: home and her bed and our dog. And it's just
- 10:44Speaker 1: it's that sense of feeling like you have something with you,
- 10:47Speaker 1: so like bring like a blankie or bring something with
- 10:50Speaker 1: you to college.
- 10:51Speaker 2: To make you feel like you're more at home.
- 10:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:54Speaker 7: For me, it's such a big adjustment because I'm from
- 10:57Speaker 7: a rural community, so literally it's just farms from.
- 11:02Speaker 8: You know, where I live.
- 11:03Speaker 7: So moving to Tuscalusa, people say it's a small town,
- 11:06Speaker 7: but I'm like, guys, no.
- 11:08Speaker 4: The y'all.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Y I visited Bama.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Before, I felt like there was nothing around besides the University.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Of Alabama and like a sex shop. I'm not even kidding.
- 11:21Speaker 7: Yeah, there's literally like nothing in my hometown.
- 11:25Speaker 4: So at least we have an Alta here.
- 11:27Speaker 7: I have to drive an hour to go to Alta
- 11:29Speaker 7: back in Kentucky.
- 11:30Speaker 1: So oh wow, yeow, okay, so that's a step up.
- 11:35Speaker 1: I mean, I think they definitely like built Tuscaloosa like
- 11:40Speaker 1: around the University of Alabama, so when you are there,
- 11:43Speaker 1: there is you know, there's food places, there's not just
- 11:46Speaker 1: But when I did visit my friend at BAMA, she
- 11:49Speaker 1: took me to like the legendary like sex shop, and
- 11:52Speaker 1: I was like, Oh my god, is this what you
- 11:54Speaker 1: guys do here?
- 11:56Speaker 3: Do you always want to go to Alabama?
- 11:59Speaker 7: Oh?
- 11:59Speaker 4: Like not really my whole life.
- 12:03Speaker 7: There's a college around where I live, Morehead State University,
- 12:07Speaker 7: and that's the one everybody goes to. So I was
- 12:11Speaker 7: convinced that I was going to go there for quite
- 12:14Speaker 7: a while until I got into maybe my sophomore junior
- 12:18Speaker 7: year of high school. I compete with Miss America, so
- 12:22Speaker 7: with that, a lot of girls get a scholarship to
- 12:25Speaker 7: the University of Alabama. So I thought, hmm, maybe I
- 12:28Speaker 7: should look into that, and I found my calling of
- 12:32Speaker 7: wanting to be an addiction counselor, and I seen that
- 12:35Speaker 7: they had a great addiction and recovery program.
- 12:38Speaker 4: So here I am.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Wow, that's amazing. I love that.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Then did you start making like tiktoks and videos when
- 12:47Speaker 3: you were at college or did you start doing it before.
- 12:50Speaker 7: Before I started making tiktoks, Like my senior year of
- 12:54Speaker 7: high school, I kind of wanted to document, you know,
- 12:57Speaker 7: those final moments. I definitely missed a lot of my
- 13:01Speaker 7: friends from high school and a lot of the clubs
- 13:05Speaker 7: I was a part of. I was president of a
- 13:07Speaker 7: couple clubs, so I wanted to document those last moments
- 13:11Speaker 7: and also wanted to document, you know, me going to college.
- 13:14Speaker 7: And I figured since I was going to Alabama, it
- 13:17Speaker 7: would be a good way to you know, keep my
- 13:19Speaker 7: friends back home all on the same page and in
- 13:22Speaker 7: touch and see what all I'm up to.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Oh, that's amazing. So you kind of were you more
- 13:27Speaker 2: of log style?
- 13:28Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm I'm more of log style now that I'm
- 13:31Speaker 7: in college. But my content, like my senior year of
- 13:35Speaker 7: high school was mostly just like get ready with me.
- 13:38Speaker 2: It's like, I just don't go and that's how you started. Okay,
- 13:41Speaker 2: I love that. So now that.
- 13:43Speaker 1: You're at the University of Alabama, take us through your
- 13:47Speaker 1: rush process. Oh, I heard its intent, I mean very intent.
- 13:53Speaker 2: I was just.
- 13:55Speaker 1: At the I just went on the recently the Tar
- 13:58Speaker 1: Cosmetics brand trip and I was with Kylin Darnell and
- 14:03Speaker 1: she's amazing. She is the sweetest girl ever. But I mean,
- 14:08Speaker 1: you know, and her sister Izzie didn't, you know, didn't
- 14:12Speaker 1: do Alabama Rush.
- 14:13Speaker 2: So I'm well, she did, but.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Then ended up not picking a sorority.
- 14:18Speaker 2: And ended up dropping out of Rush.
- 14:20Speaker 1: But how was your experience, because I know it could
- 14:23Speaker 1: definitely be super intense.
- 14:25Speaker 7: Yeah, I have to say it was crazy, especially for me.
- 14:29Speaker 7: I knew absolutely nothing about Greek life. I felt like
- 14:33Speaker 7: it took a lot of convincing to even let, you know,
- 14:35Speaker 7: my parents say okay, yeah, you can go do this
- 14:38Speaker 7: thing because there was such a stigma around Swarty life
- 14:43Speaker 7: and you know, all of that, and they just didn't
- 14:46Speaker 7: want me to get into something that was bad for me.
- 14:49Speaker 7: And I was like, no, guys, look, they have a
- 14:51Speaker 7: philanthropy and sisterhood advance. I was like, guys, please, So
- 14:55Speaker 7: they said, Okay, once they did their own research, they're like,
- 14:58Speaker 7: this is kind of cool.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I mean also rushing at BAMA when you're seeing it
- 15:02Speaker 1: from the outside and just looking at the houses and
- 15:06Speaker 1: how just elevated compared to other schools. Yeah, it really
- 15:13Speaker 1: is something that you look at and you're like, wow,
- 15:16Speaker 1: I really wish I could be a part of that.
- 15:17Speaker 2: One day.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Did you look at Kyla or like izzyase tiktoks and
- 15:22Speaker 1: kind of like do a little research for yourself before
- 15:25Speaker 1: rushing at the University of Alabama.
- 15:28Speaker 7: My research really consisted of going on the UA Panalytic
- 15:33Speaker 7: website and they had a little page for each one
- 15:36Speaker 7: of the sororities.
- 15:37Speaker 4: So I got on there.
- 15:38Speaker 7: I kind of looked to see, oh, I really like
- 15:40Speaker 7: this philanthropy or things like that.
- 15:43Speaker 1: You're like the cutest and purest person in the world.
- 15:49Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm figuring.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Because you you know, you did TikTok, you were starting
- 15:53Speaker 1: on TikTok, that that would be in your algorithm going
- 15:56Speaker 1: to BAMA, and you're like, no, I actually looked on
- 15:58Speaker 1: the U of ABY.
- 16:01Speaker 4: Research.
- 16:01Speaker 7: Well, I mean, obviously I had seen Kylon's videos and
- 16:06Speaker 7: I knew a little bit of them. But I wasn't
- 16:10Speaker 7: set on necessarily like copying or any of that. Like
- 16:17Speaker 7: I wanted to make my own kind of brand and
- 16:20Speaker 7: do my own otds and stuff. And I definitely needed
- 16:24Speaker 7: help trying to figure out.
- 16:25Speaker 4: What to wear. So I did look at Inspo.
- 16:28Speaker 7: I found out like the crazier the skirts, the better.
- 16:32Speaker 7: And I went dress shopping and Tuscaloosa, and then I thought, well,
- 16:38Speaker 7: maybe I shouldn't go dress shopping and Tuescallyssa because then
- 16:41Speaker 7: everybody's going to get their stuff from Tescalissa.
- 16:43Speaker 4: So it was it was a big thing.
- 16:45Speaker 7: And then Ava Presley Ava Presley reached out to me
- 16:49Speaker 7: when to send me dresses for Rush and I was like, uh, okay, didn't.
- 16:52Speaker 4: Know it was that big of a deal.
- 16:54Speaker 7: It's a dress company and I was like, okay, yeah, girl,
- 16:58Speaker 7: go right ahead.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Do a lot of your friends at school do a
- 17:02Speaker 3: lot of them like TikTok and stuff too?
- 17:05Speaker 7: Not really a lot of the girls here at Alabama
- 17:09Speaker 7: they do, you know, tiktoks and stuff.
- 17:12Speaker 4: It's kind of normal.
- 17:13Speaker 7: Whenever I first came here, I was so nervous about
- 17:16Speaker 7: filming in public and stuff because I was like, oh
- 17:19Speaker 7: my gosh, people, are you I think I'm crazy, but
- 17:21Speaker 7: you you usually will see someone casually vlogging and it's like, Okay.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Maybe I feel like it's so normalized now. Yeah, but
- 17:30Speaker 1: it was weird even when I was in school. It
- 17:33Speaker 1: wasn't that big yet. It really started after COVID, But
- 17:38Speaker 1: now you guys are in a time where everyone's recording,
- 17:41Speaker 1: and really, I would say, like everyone is trying to
- 17:46Speaker 1: become a part of this industry because it really is
- 17:49Speaker 1: so amazing and you get so many opportunities gifted, so
- 17:54Speaker 1: many things, like it really is a life changing job
- 17:57Speaker 1: to have, and I just think that so many of this,
- 18:03Speaker 1: so many people in your generation want to just give
- 18:07Speaker 1: it a shot, as everyone should, and that's why it's
- 18:11Speaker 1: so normalized. But it's so funny because like when I
- 18:13Speaker 1: was in school, no one was making tiktoks, like you.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Know, like it was until after COVID. But I love that.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Did you have like a rush coach or anything like
- 18:26Speaker 1: going into sir.
- 18:27Speaker 4: I did not.
- 18:28Speaker 7: I went in completely blind, And honestly, I think that's
- 18:33Speaker 7: part of the best piece of advice I could give someone,
- 18:36Speaker 7: because yeah, I did kind of hear some things like oh,
- 18:40Speaker 7: this is top house, whatever, whatever. I was like, Okay,
- 18:44Speaker 7: I can't even like, I don't even know what words
- 18:47Speaker 7: are coming out of your.
- 18:47Speaker 4: Mouth because I did not. I was not like.
- 18:50Speaker 7: Delta Gamba, you know, like Zeta, Like.
- 18:53Speaker 4: I didn't know what any of that was. Really.
- 18:56Speaker 7: I knew that was the names of houses, but I
- 18:58Speaker 7: didn't like put them to together or anything.
- 19:02Speaker 4: So I just kind of blocked that out.
- 19:05Speaker 7: And something for me was in the comments of all
- 19:09Speaker 7: my videos.
- 19:09Speaker 4: People were like, Oh, I bet she's gonna go this.
- 19:12Speaker 7: Yeah, I bet she's gonna do this, and I was like,
- 19:16Speaker 7: y'all some of the things that they were calling.
- 19:19Speaker 4: I was like, I hadn't even stepped into that house.
- 19:22Speaker 7: And it was just so funny to sit back and
- 19:23Speaker 7: watch and be like I know what I'm doing and
- 19:26Speaker 7: you guys are guessing, and it was it was really
- 19:28Speaker 7: funny to be like, oh.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Yeah, totally, So where did you go end up?
- 19:34Speaker 7: I'm a Delta Gamma now. So I was really happy.
- 19:38Speaker 7: I mean, I'm very happy with Delta Gamma. And I
- 19:43Speaker 7: always kind of knew whenever I was going through the process,
- 19:46Speaker 7: it kind of I felt noticed there and a lot
- 19:52Speaker 7: of times the houses will talk to you about things
- 19:54Speaker 7: on your resume and that's really it. But Delta Gamma,
- 19:57Speaker 7: whenever I was going through the process, they asking about
- 20:01Speaker 7: me as a person, what do I like to do
- 20:02Speaker 7: with my friends, and not just the things that looked
- 20:04Speaker 7: good on paper, And that's what made them stand out
- 20:07Speaker 7: to me.
- 20:08Speaker 3: That's awesome, So just like clicked with them. Yes, And
- 20:12Speaker 3: are you excited for the next four years? Do you
- 20:15Speaker 3: think you'll stay in your sorority?
- 20:17Speaker 4: I definitely think I will.
- 20:19Speaker 7: I absolutely love my big Gracie. She has just been
- 20:24Speaker 7: such a good mentor to me and has taken me
- 20:27Speaker 7: under her wing. And I've made so many good friends
- 20:30Speaker 7: through Delta Gamma and just being a part of something
- 20:35Speaker 7: that's kind of bigger than yourself is so it's so
- 20:39Speaker 7: impactful and it gives me a sense of home, like
- 20:44Speaker 7: the DG house is home to me, and I'm really
- 20:48Speaker 7: happy to say that.
- 20:50Speaker 2: That's amazing. Well, I'm so happy you found your home
- 20:53Speaker 2: at DG.
- 20:55Speaker 1: And even though I know you get a little home sick,
- 20:58Speaker 1: it's so normal you're in your freshman year, but really,
- 21:03Speaker 1: just take this experience. I'm so happy you because now
- 21:06Speaker 1: you're in your second semester in DG. I'm sure you
- 21:09Speaker 1: know you would have realized by now if maybe this
- 21:12Speaker 1: wasn't the place for you. So I'm so happy you
- 21:14Speaker 1: made the right decision and that you're living out your
- 21:19Speaker 1: college experience.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Keep posting those videos a sadie, Hi, where do you
- 21:41Speaker 3: go to school?
- 21:43Speaker 6: So I went to school. I went to Northwestern.
- 21:46Speaker 8: I graduated in twenty twenty two, and yeah, I was
- 21:50Speaker 8: in an authority. I was an authority from my freshman
- 21:55Speaker 8: in junior year and then mid junior years in COVID
- 21:57Speaker 8: hit and so then I took a year off and
- 22:01Speaker 8: then went back to school. And at that point I
- 22:03Speaker 8: dropped the sorority, but was in it for a good
- 22:06Speaker 8: chunk of time.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Yeah you were in it, You're fine.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Yeah, everyone drops it by their junior year anyway, some
- 22:13Speaker 1: people drop even their sophomore years.
- 22:15Speaker 2: So there's only I had. Yeah you dropped her, dazy.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Yeah I dropped because I went abroad and they were
- 22:24Speaker 3: trying to make me like I got a girl to
- 22:26Speaker 3: fill my room in the house, and they were still
- 22:28Speaker 3: trying to make me to pay for the room in
- 22:31Speaker 3: the house because they didn't have enough girls to fill it.
- 22:34Speaker 3: Because it was like right when COVID was happening and stuff.
- 22:36Speaker 3: I was like I got someone to fill my room
- 22:39Speaker 3: and then they were like threatening me with like a
- 22:41Speaker 3: lawyer and stuff.
- 22:43Speaker 6: Okay, I'm out, Like wait a second, No, I mean
- 22:47Speaker 6: that was the thing.
- 22:47Speaker 8: There was some points where like I love the girls
- 22:50Speaker 8: in my sorority, but being in a sorority, I was
- 22:52Speaker 8: like I quickly realized. I was like, I don't think
- 22:54Speaker 8: I'm cut out for this. I think it's more so
- 22:57Speaker 8: a meat problem. I was like, I couldn't abide by
- 22:59Speaker 8: any rules, which was definitely something I need to take.
- 23:02Speaker 6: A long hard look in the mirror. But it is.
- 23:05Speaker 8: It was like a lot of a lot of politics
- 23:08Speaker 8: and logistics to it.
- 23:09Speaker 2: For sure, it's hilarious.
- 23:11Speaker 1: So then where did you end up? Like, how was
- 23:13Speaker 1: your rush process?
- 23:14Speaker 2: Take us through all of that your freshman year?
- 23:17Speaker 6: Oh my god, I mean this is like such a
- 23:19Speaker 6: crazy time. No, I it was good because.
- 23:21Speaker 8: Northwestern, I like Greek life was it was a thing there,
- 23:25Speaker 8: But it's not from the magnitude I've heard at other schools.
- 23:28Speaker 8: It was really nothing in comparison, which I think had
- 23:31Speaker 8: I gone to you know, one of those like southern
- 23:34Speaker 8: schools or just a big tense like another big ten school,
- 23:37Speaker 8: I think it would have been too overwhelming for me,
- 23:39Speaker 8: but Rush was. It was it was like the winner
- 23:43Speaker 8: of my freshman year. I remember being like so nervous
- 23:47Speaker 8: and I would yeah, I was like on the phone
- 23:49Speaker 8: with my parents and I'm just like I don't even know,
- 23:51Speaker 8: like what's happening.
- 23:52Speaker 6: And I just like, you just start crying randomly, and
- 23:54Speaker 6: I was like why not, like what's happening?
- 23:58Speaker 8: But it ended up being a good process, and uh,
- 24:01Speaker 8: my best friend was also my roommate. We kind of
- 24:03Speaker 8: rushed and were wanting to be in the same sorority
- 24:05Speaker 8: and we ended up in the same one.
- 24:06Speaker 6: And we were in Kappa Kappa Gamma.
- 24:09Speaker 8: I say Kapa and then I'm like, I know there's
- 24:11Speaker 8: other but yeah, Kapa Kaba gamma.
- 24:13Speaker 6: God said then so long.
- 24:16Speaker 8: And yeah, but the rush process itself was good. But
- 24:18Speaker 8: I remember like people were saying like initiation was kind
- 24:22Speaker 8: of the big thing, and I people had like spread
- 24:24Speaker 8: these rumors that they make you go into the I
- 24:27Speaker 8: don't know what I can say on it, but you
- 24:28Speaker 8: can they make you.
- 24:29Speaker 2: You could say anything you want.
- 24:31Speaker 6: Yeah, just filter me at any point.
- 24:34Speaker 8: But uh, that initiation was like they brought you into
- 24:37Speaker 8: the basement and like made you do drugs, and I
- 24:39Speaker 8: was like freaking out.
- 24:40Speaker 6: I was like, oh my god, like I'm gonna like
- 24:42Speaker 6: I have to quit like this.
- 24:46Speaker 8: And then like the night before, like they were like, okay, girls,
- 24:50Speaker 8: we have a surprise in the basement, and I was like,
- 24:52Speaker 8: literally to my friend, I was like.
- 24:53Speaker 6: I've got to call my mom. I've got to get
- 24:55Speaker 6: out of here. I was like freaking out. I was like,
- 24:58Speaker 6: I was like, you guys, I have a TV and
- 25:00Speaker 6: it's set them if it struck, I can't do it,
- 25:02Speaker 6: like please, I'm so scared. And then we go down
- 25:05Speaker 6: serious and they just had a feast of food for us,
- 25:07Speaker 6: like it was like McDonald's.
- 25:09Speaker 8: Ice cream, and I was like, oh my god, this
- 25:11Speaker 8: is the best day of my life.
- 25:13Speaker 6: And so then I just like I don't know if
- 25:14Speaker 6: it was the stress or what, but I ate so much.
- 25:16Speaker 8: I ended up like throwing up the morning of initiation.
- 25:19Speaker 8: So it ended up being completely fine. I just yeah,
- 25:21Speaker 8: but this is so funny.
- 25:25Speaker 3: So did you meet a lot of friends in your sorority?
- 25:27Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 25:28Speaker 8: Yeah, my sorority. Yeah, there were a lot of like
- 25:30Speaker 8: great girls that I met. And as I said, like
- 25:33Speaker 8: my roommate and best friend, we kind of we went
- 25:37Speaker 8: into it together, and we roomed in the house together.
- 25:40Speaker 8: We got in trouble a lot together. And but yeah,
- 25:43Speaker 8: I love the girls in the class and the girls
- 25:46Speaker 8: above us too. I was really close to and like overall,
- 25:48Speaker 8: that was the thing.
- 25:49Speaker 6: I think.
- 25:49Speaker 8: Had I not like the girls so much, I probably
- 25:51Speaker 8: would have dropped it sooner, just because I don't think
- 25:53Speaker 8: I like being in a sorority that much.
- 25:55Speaker 6: But I did really like the people in it.
- 25:57Speaker 4: That's awesome, that's great. Did a lot of them end
- 25:59Speaker 4: up dropping too?
- 26:01Speaker 8: Yeah, my roommate did, one of my other one of
- 26:04Speaker 8: my other best friends who was in it, she also did,
- 26:08Speaker 8: and I think most, I think most girls in my
- 26:09Speaker 8: class did because of COVID after like, even people that
- 26:12Speaker 8: I wasn't.
- 26:12Speaker 6: I think that just kind of disrupted a lot of it.
- 26:15Speaker 8: But but yeah, I mean it was it was a
- 26:19Speaker 8: time my rand Big was the president the year that
- 26:23Speaker 8: I lived in the house, and like it was just
- 26:25Speaker 8: always funny because I was like the trouble child and
- 26:28Speaker 8: I wouldn't even do anything that bad. It was just
- 26:30Speaker 8: I don't know, I think I didn't know the rules
- 26:32Speaker 8: and yeah, you.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Were just living your college life.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I like need to hear this story though, can
- 26:40Speaker 1: you please give us the story of when you gave
- 26:43Speaker 1: a tour to your national representative representative?
- 26:49Speaker 6: So that story.
- 26:50Speaker 8: So the story I posted online is kind of a
- 26:52Speaker 8: make sure two stories because I didn't know what I
- 26:54Speaker 8: could say it would get flagged. But the national person
- 26:57Speaker 8: that I gave a tour to actually accused me of
- 26:59Speaker 8: being haigh.
- 27:01Speaker 6: And I don't smoke weed.
- 27:02Speaker 8: Not I think i'd actually love it, but every time
- 27:04Speaker 8: I've tried to, my face swells up, so I have
- 27:07Speaker 8: like a lot of allergy.
- 27:08Speaker 2: So I feel like that it's okay.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Whenever I smoke weed, I have a panic attack and
- 27:12Speaker 1: think I need to get hospitalized.
- 27:14Speaker 2: So that's why I don't know.
- 27:16Speaker 8: I mean literally, I honestly I thought that would be
- 27:18Speaker 8: my I'm the most anxious human being ever, so I
- 27:20Speaker 8: feel that one hundred percent.
- 27:22Speaker 6: I but yeah, I'm there's something about it.
- 27:24Speaker 8: I'm like, I want to be jail, but every time
- 27:26Speaker 8: I do it, I like it.
- 27:28Speaker 6: So there was one time.
- 27:29Speaker 8: The guy I was like hooking up with, he slept
- 27:31Speaker 8: over at my strity house and I had taken it
- 27:33Speaker 8: edible the night before and I woke up and like,
- 27:35Speaker 8: you know, you feel your face like being like swollen,
- 27:38Speaker 8: and I was like and he was like trying to
- 27:39Speaker 8: say goodbye to me. I said my head fast in
- 27:40Speaker 8: the pillar. I was like, yeh, you gotta get and
- 27:42Speaker 8: get and seeking.
- 27:46Speaker 6: Please. But yeah, so I had given her a tour
- 27:51Speaker 6: and I don't know what. I have no idea why
- 27:55Speaker 6: she had thought this.
- 27:55Speaker 8: And I'll tell you the other story of getting a
- 27:57Speaker 8: knee breeded in that whole situation because I was separate.
- 28:00Speaker 6: But so after I gave.
- 28:02Speaker 8: Her tours, like okay, I think that went really well.
- 28:04Speaker 8: I was in charge of giving her tours. I got
- 28:05Speaker 8: in trouble with standards for I. I honestly, there were
- 28:08Speaker 8: a few I can't remember, but I was like, I
- 28:10Speaker 8: think I made a good impression, like that was good.
- 28:12Speaker 8: And then I got an email from like our chapter
- 28:15Speaker 8: standards and I was.
- 28:16Speaker 6: Like, what the hell did I do? Like what?
- 28:19Speaker 8: And I went in there and they were like hey,
- 28:23Speaker 8: so like the nationals like rep that was here. She
- 28:26Speaker 8: like mentioned that the girl I gave her a tour
- 28:28Speaker 8: was high and I was like like me, oh me, no,
- 28:34Speaker 8: I was like no, I wasn't what.
- 28:36Speaker 6: I was like, you guys, I don't smoke wheed like that.
- 28:39Speaker 8: And they were like okay, and then she had also
- 28:42Speaker 8: like said something else.
- 28:43Speaker 6: Of why I think she had thought that, and I
- 28:45Speaker 6: it was a whole thing.
- 28:46Speaker 8: But it was right right after that I had gotten
- 28:49Speaker 8: in trouble for post meeting alcohol to our house and
- 28:52Speaker 8: our house mom caught it.
- 28:54Speaker 6: In the house.
- 28:56Speaker 8: Yeah, and I it got Yeah, it was so those
- 28:59Speaker 8: two things happened, But that was what happened. I gave
- 29:01Speaker 8: this like the Nationals a tour and I thought it went.
- 29:04Speaker 8: I like took a picture of her with the arch
- 29:05Speaker 8: is like this thing know not northwest here, and I
- 29:07Speaker 8: was like, oh my god, girl like smile.
- 29:11Speaker 6: But yeah, then she just clearly was not pleased with me.
- 29:14Speaker 6: I don't know what.
- 29:14Speaker 8: I was like, I feel like this may be a
- 29:16Speaker 8: personality flawed then that she saw in me and is
- 29:18Speaker 8: complaining about. But but yeah, I'm then like a couple
- 29:21Speaker 8: of weeks later, I had postmade alcohol to our house
- 29:24Speaker 8: and uh, obviously alcohol was not allowed. I was underage
- 29:27Speaker 8: at the time. The guy, the Go Puff guy, actually
- 29:29Speaker 8: rejected my id.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Not the go buff guy. I feel like they barely
- 29:36Speaker 2: even checket.
- 29:37Speaker 6: I was like, wait, what I know he like pulled out.
- 29:39Speaker 6: I was like, oh, whoa WHOA not my delaware ID.
- 29:43Speaker 6: I don't think. Let me just wipe it off on
- 29:45Speaker 6: my pants. It might be a little blurry. I don't
- 29:48Speaker 6: know what's happening.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Don't they just have to scan it?
- 29:52Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 29:52Speaker 6: Well that was that was the thing.
- 29:53Speaker 4: I was like.
- 29:54Speaker 6: I thought. I thought I just had to do like
- 29:56Speaker 6: a signature or something because you happened to that.
- 29:58Speaker 8: But he pulled out some sort of like can't He
- 30:01Speaker 8: pulled out something it felt like an airport like, and
- 30:05Speaker 8: I was like, oh, like, this is not going to
- 30:07Speaker 8: go well for me. And then he just like he
- 30:09Speaker 8: was like, I'm sorry, this doesn't work. And then I
- 30:11Speaker 8: walked back into the house and my house mom, I guess,
- 30:14Speaker 8: had met him, like he had knocked on the front
- 30:16Speaker 8: door and she had answered it, and I didn't know
- 30:17Speaker 8: because I had walked around the back of the entrance
- 30:20Speaker 8: of the house to meet him because I thought he
- 30:21Speaker 8: was outside. So then I walked back in and she
- 30:24Speaker 8: was standing there and she's like, are you kidding me?
- 30:25Speaker 8: Cdie like are you kidding me? Right in front of
- 30:27Speaker 8: my face. You're gonna get alcohol to this house. And
- 30:29Speaker 8: since it got rejected, I was like, I was like.
- 30:31Speaker 6: See, I was like I'm not drinking. Look, there's no
- 30:34Speaker 6: alcohol in my hand.
- 30:35Speaker 8: I was like, I was, I think the wrong address,
- 30:36Speaker 8: he made a mistake. She was like, I watched you
- 30:39Speaker 8: scam your idea and get rejected. Okay, well so yeah,
- 30:44Speaker 8: and then I got called in for that as well,
- 30:46Speaker 8: and they were like you were and me read it. Yeah,
- 30:48Speaker 8: it was just there was a lot of In hindsight,
- 30:51Speaker 8: it's probably all character flaws on myself, but I love it.
- 30:54Speaker 3: You were just living your life as you should, but.
- 30:58Speaker 1: You weren't even wrong. So then did you explain that
- 31:01Speaker 1: to them? And then did they understand it?
- 31:04Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 31:05Speaker 2: They they didn't. They blame it on the platform. Mugs.
- 31:08Speaker 6: Well, I mean that was the thing. Well okay, so.
- 31:12Speaker 8: I that that also, Like I I just like, I
- 31:16Speaker 8: don't know if it was.
- 31:17Speaker 6: I think, yeah, I honestly have no idea what it was.
- 31:20Speaker 2: They said to me.
- 31:21Speaker 6: We were like, you know, she said that.
- 31:22Speaker 8: I also, when I was giving her the tour, we
- 31:24Speaker 8: were walking for part of it. But then also I
- 31:26Speaker 8: used a golf cart for part of it, and I'm
- 31:29Speaker 8: not the best driver. So I think this is this
- 31:34Speaker 8: is honestly therapy, guys, because I'm looking back and list
- 31:36Speaker 8: I'm like, I have a lot to work through. I
- 31:37Speaker 8: think as a human, I uh yeah, I mean she
- 31:42Speaker 8: this is and she couldn't complain being like I don't
- 31:44Speaker 8: think this girl should be driving a golf cart. I
- 31:45Speaker 8: think she's This girl's a little bit too like crazy.
- 31:49Speaker 8: Probably wouldn't have let her into the chapter in hindsight,
- 31:51Speaker 8: but I was like to say that I'm high.
- 31:53Speaker 6: And you know, under the influence of anything.
- 31:56Speaker 8: Is I was like, that's not technically true right now,
- 31:59Speaker 8: but yeah, and I was like, see you, I don't
- 32:01Speaker 8: even know alcohol in my room.
- 32:02Speaker 6: It got rejected, but I go buff so.
- 32:05Speaker 2: So did everything I end up working out?
- 32:07Speaker 1: Though when you went to standards, like did they end
- 32:10Speaker 1: up like understanding where you were coming from?
- 32:12Speaker 2: Did they believe you?
- 32:13Speaker 6: Yeah? They thought it was like funny.
- 32:15Speaker 8: They were like, this is this feels very fitting for
- 32:18Speaker 8: the type of member of this.
- 32:19Speaker 6: Chapter you've been, so they and it was funny because.
- 32:23Speaker 8: We used to do in like chapter meetings every Sunday
- 32:25Speaker 8: kapa kisses and disses and my like grand big is
- 32:31Speaker 8: like she had done like she was a kap a
- 32:33Speaker 8: kiss to my.
- 32:35Speaker 6: Grand baby for like post meeting alcohol.
- 32:37Speaker 8: To the house and being and I don't know. I
- 32:41Speaker 8: think I'm just an idiot. I didn't piece it together.
- 32:43Speaker 8: And I looked at my friend. I was like, oh
- 32:45Speaker 8: my god.
- 32:46Speaker 6: I was like, sorry, like I don't know.

- 32:52Speaker 1: experience with sorority life.
- 32:54Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I think it was like it was an experience.
- 32:58Speaker 8: So I always say, like, I love just getting experiences
- 33:01Speaker 8: because I feel like it, especially doing comedy, it's helpful
- 33:04Speaker 8: and you know, I met a lot of great people
- 33:05Speaker 8: through it, so and yeah, added something, but and you
- 33:10Speaker 8: also learn what you don't like. I was like, yeah,
- 33:12Speaker 8: I don't think this was probably you know, I don't
- 33:14Speaker 8: think I was cut out for.

- 33:29Speaker 8: I just would feel you know you then you then
- 33:31Speaker 8: you watch them you feel like you're like, don't worry.
- 33:33Speaker 6: Yeah, like it's okay.
- 33:34Speaker 8: I'm like, I like, I had to give a speech.
- 33:38Speaker 8: My friend and I we did a sister in speech
- 33:39Speaker 8: for one of the rounds, and at the time, I
- 33:43Speaker 8: didn't know that I was Celiac so whiches and I
- 33:48Speaker 8: had been like eating rice Krispye treats about like not
- 33:50Speaker 8: gluten free, all like just the whole because there's just sugar.
- 33:54Speaker 8: Everyone's like eating them because you're staying up and you're like,
- 33:55Speaker 8: you know, doing the whole process. And so I'm literally
- 33:58Speaker 8: like giving this speech with my aunts and button and
- 34:00Speaker 8: you just see girls all worried and I'm like, guys like,
- 34:02Speaker 8: don't worry, like my pants.
- 34:03Speaker 6: Are like I am so bud, I don't know what's.

- 34:08Speaker 8: don't worry, like this isn't that seriously, It's gonna be okay,
- 34:11Speaker 8: which I will was the best representation, but I feel

- 34:20Speaker 8: it too seriously and don't only.
- 34:21Speaker 6: Do it if it's going to add something to to
- 34:24Speaker 6: your life.
- 34:24Speaker 2: I feel like, you know, I will.
- 34:26Speaker 1: We can literally talk to you all day, but unfortunately
