- 0:17Welcome to Live from your heart. I'm your host,
- 0:21Les Paul Klein. For three
- 0:25decades of my life, I lived trying
- 0:31to get others approval,
- 0:34not the truth. I lived to be accepted.
- 0:40But I wasn't real, authentic. And what did it
- 0:44cost me? Pieces of myself. Over and over.
- 0:48I didn't realize I was even losing those pieces.
- 0:53This podcast, it's for anyone who knows deep down that
- 0:57they've been living someone else's version of their life.
- 1:03And they're ready, you're ready
- 1:07to come home to your own heart and be real
- 1:11and be authentic. Doesn't matter how old you are,
- 1:15doesn't matter how long you've been doing this,
- 1:19it's possible to reclaim your own
- 1:22heart. So every week we're going to talk about reclaiming
- 1:26that identity and healing old patterns and finding courage again. And finally
- 1:31living from the truest and most grounded place inside of you,
- 1:35your heart. This isn't therapy, it's not self
- 1:39help. It's just a real huge invitation for you to
- 1:44come and learn how to live a real life from
- 1:49your own heart. So let's jump in.
- 1:59I made a conscious decision,
- 2:03a conscious decision to stop pretending.
- 2:11And I have to frame it in this way so
- 2:16that you can grasp my thought.
- 2:20It was courage, but it wasn't loud.
- 2:24It was quiet. But I chose not
- 2:30to pretend anymore. I was no longer Leslie
- 2:34Paul, the boy named
- 2:39after girl. Now I'm
- 2:43Les Paul, the man who
- 2:48has lowered his mass and
- 2:52he's living from his own heart.
- 2:56That's tough for a lot of people to accept,
- 3:01but I did that. Hey,
- 3:05this is Les Paul. Welcome to another
- 3:09installment on Live from your heart podcast.
- 3:15If you followed along with the other episodes,
- 3:19one kind of would have formed.
- 3:23Now I'm kind of new to this a year from
- 3:27now, completely different when that and how I'm tying them
- 3:31together. But right now, this is what God has put in front
- 3:36of me. Putting in front of you. Good, bad,
- 3:40indifferent. It is what it is. I don't
- 3:45care if one person hears it. There are a hundred thousand people here.
- 3:50I was compelled to live for my heart. Now in compelled
- 3:55to tell me a story about aggravating. And I've
- 3:59had many people ask me, can you
- 4:03teach me what should happen?
- 4:06So. So I do that.
- 4:10Today we're talking about courage.
- 4:15Courage, as I said, is choosing not to
- 4:19pretend. So I took the mask off. I didn't pretend,
- 4:22pretend to be a future, pretend to be that preacher
- 4:27boy that my parents called me to do. The wrath of
- 4:31my parents was heavy. And I will say this that don't
- 4:37take your swim like things. But perhaps it was a blessing for
- 4:41my father that he never really grasped
- 4:45my decisions because he had a stroke
- 4:49and he was never himself again.
- 4:54And my mother did know that. She really embraced
- 5:00it. She accepted it because she couldn't change it.
- 5:04But anytime I
- 5:08visited her in her little church in Slayton, Texas, where she
- 5:12lived out the rest of her life after dad passed,
- 5:18she always wanted me to sing. She had an inroad with the preacher.
- 5:21So I always had to sing if I was
- 5:25there. And I have a niece that's the pianist at that church. So we always
- 5:29had a good time. I was dead or full courage.
- 5:35Courage. Here's what it looks like.
- 5:41It's felt as long as did
- 5:45I know I was taking my mask off when I did not
- 5:49really. I didn't really know what it meant. I just
- 5:53knew that I didn't like the co
- 5:57that I created. I didn't want to be in that culture.
- 6:04Asked me he
- 6:09been coming to our church for a short period of time.
- 6:13Started this church.
- 6:16He just had a lot smoke.
- 6:19We said, tell me why you use. A different
- 6:23version of the Bible in those
- 6:27days I used the new King James.
- 6:32That was a transition for me because the
- 6:37old King James was real and.
- 6:42True. And this guy had a new American standard.
- 6:47And we talked about various scriptures
- 6:53and I looked at this guy, his name is Bob.
- 6:57He was actually a real new believer
- 7:02and his wife wasn't yet a believer.
- 7:07And I said, you know Bob,
- 7:10I really don't have an argument for why I
- 7:15have to use this one version. I said I
- 7:19could give you the pitch that I will give them, but I
- 7:24don't think it's going to matter. We truthfully
- 7:29didn't. No buzzing but that was a small yes
- 7:33of co to my own. Well, I know some of you are long really
- 7:38well, you didn't know what I came to remember
- 7:43Fundamental independent Baptist legalism.
- 7:48Hey, my mother didn't want to care dependence at all.
- 7:51My dad didn't pass for church. She wore a skirt
- 7:55all the time. Was that odd that even
- 7:59my pair of shorts.
- 8:03Yes, you heard me say that.
- 8:06Okay, courage is a small yes,
- 8:11it's a small no.
- 8:15It may just be one honest sentence. And for me that's
- 8:19how it had to start because my entire
- 8:24war over time was completely
- 8:29dissimated.
- 8:33It had a huge impact.
- 8:38And I'll be honest with you,
- 8:43they did recover.
- 8:47Wilderness never recovered in the probability one
- 8:52of them has recovered. But one
- 8:57honest search for me and a boundary I
- 9:02set those boundaries even though they were smaller that's what
- 9:07clearance became how it became in my wolf
- 9:12this may feel a little fragmented and then I popped back and forth
- 9:19it was scary because I didn't know what would happen next and
- 9:25it's it was really scary. There was a moment in my life and
- 9:30I reflected backward and administrative
- 9:34opportunity was in front of me some years and
- 9:39after this all took place. And.
- 9:43I was a volunteer on a seamless
- 9:46ministry that I actually launched and started my clinics farms life
- 9:51and the body of the church offered me
- 9:56a stack was issued and I said
- 9:59one caveat I'll do this but
- 10:04I don't want to pay it I keep my full time job in my personals
- 10:08I want to tie this to
- 10:12money which was a wise decision Coach
- 10:17balance I love so
- 10:22here's something that I want you to grasp. How do we misunderstand
- 10:26Coach Dramatic.
- 10:33We. Think it has to have drama and
- 10:37we think it's bold. Doesn't have to be we
- 10:42think it requires confidence. Well it
- 10:46doesn't just move forward just
- 10:51means yes and no I hope
- 10:57and. It doesn't have to be. We wouldn't have to make a
- 11:01big place to work for it now a lot of people do that.
- 11:07Your point is quiet. It's kind
- 11:10of like you could have a neighbor
- 11:15or someone that you're connected to that has served and specialize
- 11:20in the military. This guy's quiet and
- 11:25seren been a part of special
- 11:29apps support community divorces wall
- 11:33here active and
- 11:41I met a bunch of special ops guys only seen
- 11:45by its courage. Those guys have courage larger
- 11:50than life that they actually never assume that's who they
- 11:54were. That's real courage. Real courage
- 11:59is from heart. Okay.
- 12:02It comes from the truth that you begin
- 12:06to uncover and you begin to see.
- 12:11It comes from alignment of your own heart. It comes from
- 12:15being safe to do so. I stress that infallibly
- 12:22you can't have courage in an unsafe environment.
- 12:26You can't be who you really are and live from the
- 12:30long if you are in a
- 12:34culture that does nothing but judging you,
- 12:38you can't survive in that culture.
- 12:43It comes from within own truth.
- 12:47Your own desire to arrive. Okay.
- 12:51With your head in your mind ask yourself the
- 12:55question when we get silent and this is what stalls guys.
- 12:59Silence. As Danielle did.
- 13:03Just pull it. Can we see? It's the pause.
- 13:06Just pause out. You can get free. You don't have to buy one and
- 13:11always purchase apps. This is free.
- 13:14It's got past. It's super real.
- 13:17There's a lot else to it these days. Continues to grow. But the
- 13:21bottom line isn't paths push past. Yes, sir.
- 13:25Courage comes from listening.
- 13:29It comes from your choice.
- 13:32Comes from you being safe to
- 13:36face it. You have to have a safe environment to do it.
- 13:41And you have to practice this. Yeah.
- 13:46You've got a term. I choose truth over
- 13:51the metal, the country. Let me. Let me help you
- 13:55understand what I mean by the nut. How? I've used this illustration a thousand times,
- 13:59but I raised pigs.
- 14:03Short pigs was one of my four H projects.
- 14:08Ronnie and I always raised
- 14:12Yorkshires for white purebirds. You survived.
- 14:17But did you know that the whitest pig could get
- 14:21the dirtiest and the stinkiest as soon as
- 14:25you turn him back into the mud hole? After you
- 14:29clean him up and washed him and put my baby powder and shelled him in
- 14:33his other room, you put them back in the spring. All these together,
- 14:36those wows in the mud, that's what we do. It's confused now that we
- 14:40keep going back to him and how we
- 14:46know what to expect. Even though it could be bad. You hide.
- 14:49Then we keep hiding behind the mask for the top blood on the
- 14:53last podcast because it's comfortable, right?
- 14:57The unknown is our courage. Some of you
- 15:01are being faced with being courageous. We're being
- 15:05faced with living from our own.
- 15:09And you think about that. You're going to have to
- 15:13choose the truth, whatever says for your comfort.
- 15:18Okay? If you're going to live
- 15:22for more and more gives it twice.
- 15:26That's going to cost you some comfort.
- 15:32And you're going to have to choose. Alignment is
- 15:37wrong. Other people's approvals.
- 15:49A lot of people can't live that
- 15:53Others approved. They've got to be approved.
- 15:57They move the accolades. Look at Facebook.
- 16:06In the everyday mid your accolades. They want
- 16:10your emojis, they want your love comments, your like comments,
- 16:15your raw white comments. They live for
- 16:19that. That's why they're there.
- 16:22That's what drives them. So I
- 16:27think Facebook was a good thing in the world because I think it's just always
- 16:32I use it to connect to people and
- 16:36to get my story out. And I try to avoid it.
- 16:40Otherwise I'm answering people if I ask
- 16:44questions. There's not a lot of scorn
- 16:48going these days. As they say,
- 16:51courage must have
- 16:55truth. Courage must have alignment.
- 17:00If you're ready to be courageous and
- 17:05pull the mask down, you come

- 17:13of living forever. It's a journey,
- 17:17folks. Are you ready for the journey?
- 17:20It will cost. It will cost.
- 17:25But if you keep going back to the mud hunt,
- 17:30if you keep pretending to be someone you want to.
- 17:35If you keep doing the things you
- 17:39know you shouldn't do,
- 17:44looking in the environment you're in,
- 17:47staying in a relationship you shouldn't be in.
- 17:52Yeah, just quiet.
