- 0:28shows in between. Thank.
- 0:50You. Yeah, I thought I was So anyway,
- 0:53so. You're really impressed at me,
- 0:55Playoff. This is a presentation of
- 1:01Northeast Streaming sports. Good morning.
- 1:08You're listening to the Mac and Jack Sports show on Northeast
- 1:12Streaming Sports. It's the Mack and Jack sports
- 1:35show start off your week here on Roku, on Roku and Northeast
- 1:41streaming sports, YouTube, Twitter, all kinds of different
- 1:45platforms that we're on. Welcome to the show.
- 1:47I'm your host Mack with your Co host Jack as we cover the latest
- 1:52in sports as we start off this weekend.
- 1:54And Jack, you know, I, I was going to start off with the MLB
- 1:59pitchers, but I want to start off with a, with a guy going to
- 2:03the Olympics. He went there first at 19 years
- 2:06old. He's going to be there again at
- 2:0940 years old. And of course, that's LeBron
- 2:12James. And, you know, I think because
- 2:15of the comparisons to Jordan and some of the other great ones, we
- 2:20kind of, you know, we kind of shove LeBron to the side a
- 2:23little bit. Not that I'm a big fan of what
- 2:25he's doing with coaching, with the coaches he played for, some
- 2:29of the personal things he's done.
- 2:31And maybe a lot of people think that he put Ronnie James in the
- 2:35bad position, you know, kind of leading the way for making the
- 2:39road smoother getting to the Lakers.
- 2:41But listen, this guy is unbelievable and he's going
- 2:45there to win gold at 40 years old.
- 2:48If he gets this gold medal and he's influential and then
- 2:52winning these games. Jack, can we finally say that
- 2:56maybe he's better than Michael Jordan?
- 2:58Maybe he is the greatest basketball player of all time.
- 3:02Not because of the Olympics, Mac.
- 3:05No one takes the United States winning an Olympic gold medal
- 3:10that seriously. I mean, it's a wonderful
- 3:13accomplishment, but the USA has the best players in the world.
- 3:17They're expected to win. The team is back.
- 3:21They're expected to win. It doesn't mean they're
- 3:24necessarily going to win because the other countries have kind of
- 3:27caught up to a large extent. They have certain star players
- 3:31and they have certain star NBA players.
- 3:45And welcome to the Mac and Jack show.
- 3:47Good old Mac. Once again a throwback.
- 3:49We are doing our shows in honor of Mac all this week.
- 3:52Good morning, Jack. How are you?
- 3:54Good, good. You gave us a highlight and then
- 3:56you cut it off. I wanted to hear what I had to
- 3:58say. I was actually enjoying this
- 4:01segment. It was timely.
- 4:03Apparently it took place. You got out of the files
- 4:08something that happened within the year after the Lakers
- 4:11drafted Brownie James because he talked about Brownie James going
- 4:14to the Lakers. But it was right before the
- 4:16Olympics in the United States did win the gold medal as
- 4:20expected. And it it doesn't change
- 4:24Lebron's status. But the longer LeBron plays as
- 4:29an open to open up the comparison to him and Jordan
- 4:33Nick and they continue to go on to the longer he plays, the more
- 4:37he compiles numbers, the better chance in time that he can be
- 4:43recognized perhaps as a greater play than Jordan.
- 4:46And if you want an example or point out Joe Lewis and Muhammad
- 4:49Ali. People don't realize when
- 4:52Muhammad Ali retired from boxing if it the majority of people by
- 4:58far rated Joe Lewis ahead of Muhammad Ali as the greatest
- 5:02heavyweight champion of all time.
- 5:05But of course, generations pass, people pass on, new generations
- 5:10come up and the young people kind of bond with a more recent
- 5:16athlete. And they they bonded with Ali
- 5:18over Joe Lewis because Joe Lewis became a relic, OK, you know,
- 5:22to, he recognized his greatness, but he he wasn't as revered as
- 5:28Ali was to the newer generation. And I think as the decades
- 5:33passed, Jordan, you know, another players come up, Jordan
- 5:37will still be revered, but I think it'll be a case of one or
- 5:42two other superstars, LeBron, maybe Wemby in the future.
- 5:47Someone like that is going to catch up to Jordan and status.
- 5:51Or we're going to say maybe they were a little better than
- 5:54Jordan. I don't know.
- 5:56Yeah, I mean, and I purposely stopped that right there because
- 6:01I, you know, that really wasn't too long ago that that show was
- 6:03filmed, especially because Bronny hasn't been, you know,
- 6:07quote UN quote in the league that long.
- 6:09And of course we've seen him more in the G League now, Jack,
- 6:12than we have with, you know, his dad.
- 6:14And and and then Mack mentioned that LeBron was 40 and LeBron is
- 6:18still 40. So that video was actually
- 6:20sometime last year that it was filmed bringing it out of the
- 6:23archives. And and here we are talking
- 6:26about NBA today. The NBA playoffs are going on.
- 6:29Jack and LeBron is not a conversation right now because
- 6:33they have been eliminated early on.
- 6:35But the Knicks and Celtics Max team.
- 6:38The Knicks now have a 20 lead over the Celtics.
- 6:42I'm shocked. Are you?
- 6:45I thought the Knicks are going to win one of the two games in
- 6:48Boston and I thought they'd take this series, the six games.
- 6:53I'm surprised how disorganized the Celtics saw.
- 6:56But I got to point something out.
- 6:57And people hardly speak about this.
- 7:00Poor singers has has some type of virus.
- 7:04He's limited. He's not the same player.
- 7:07He played 14 minutes in the last game.
- 7:10He was OK when he was in there, but he's limited in how much he
- 7:14can give. And poor singers is a difference
- 7:17make on close games, an absolute difference maker.
- 7:21Jalen Brown's been terrible. You see some of these shots
- 7:24people are taking. And when I, when I hear people
- 7:29say, well, the modern NBA players, you know, on teams, you
- 7:35know, you put a team of the modern top NBA players, how
- 7:38superior they'd be to the teams in the 60s and 70s.
- 7:42Just watch this Celtic team. That's all they're doing is
- 7:45taking 3 pointers, long jump shots.
- 7:49I mean yesterday there was this play with Drew Holiday.
- 7:52He was right under the basket, lay the Don ball up.
- 7:56So instead of laying it up, Drew Holiday kicks it out, you know,
- 8:00to Jaylen Brown past the three-point line.
- 8:03Like what the heck was that all about?
- 8:06I mean, these changes, run and gun 3 pointers get in position.
- 8:11I understand what the analytics say, what the percentages are,
- 8:17but if you can get an easy 2 pointer, a shot from close
- 8:22range, A2 pointer, why take a much more difficult shot and try
- 8:27to set up from three points? I just don't get it.
- 8:30I mean, Jason Tatum's been inconsistent.
- 8:33You know, you mentioned the other leaders poor shooting.
- 8:35He went 5 of 19 Jack for only 13 points in Game 2, far below what
- 8:41his his average has been for the franchise.
- 8:44He's known as the cornerstone of this team.
- 8:46He also has looked like he has a lack of aggression.
- 8:49He's just not as as momentum as he has been.
- 8:53He's been settling for the contested jumpers instead of
- 8:55attacking the rim and defending those fouls or trying to draw
- 8:59fouls and some instances he just doesn't look like he's the
- 9:03leader that he has been in clutch performances.
- 9:07Yeah, you just get the feeling the next a little more focused
- 9:11here, but the next have a 2 nothing lead.
- 9:13They're going back to Madison Square Garden and it's Boston in
- 9:18this series. Absolutely.
- 9:19They're very much in the series number teams have come back from
- 9:23A2 nothing deficit. And consider this, Boston does
- 9:26play bad on the road than they do at home.
- 9:29And all Boston has to do is win the third game.
- 9:33And the mindset of this whole series changes.
- 9:36And for all the people who had picked Boston and are now
- 9:39doubting the Celtics, consider this.
- 9:43People were thinking the Knicks wouldn't even take it to six
- 9:46games. The Celtics and Beedman four or
- 9:48five games. Well, if that's the mindset,
- 9:52then keep that mindset because the Knicks have to win two more
- 9:57games. So Boston was going to beat them
- 10:00in five games. They have five games left.
- 10:03Let them go four games to 1, and that means they would have won
- 10:07the series in seven games. But I really think the Celtics
- 10:11have to win this third game because once a team gets in the
- 10:14three, nothing hollow. It's an upward climb.
- 10:18But a couple of years ago, remember, the Celtics were down
- 10:213 nothing to Miami in the Eastern Conference finals.
- 10:25The Celtics won the next three games, the 4th.
- 10:28It was a 7th game at home, and they were awful in that seventh
- 10:32game, Jimmy Butler, and he stepped up and they wound up
- 10:36going to the Finals to play the Lakers.
- 10:39That that was about, what, five years ago?
- 10:41Whatever. And they lost to the Brands
- 10:43Lakers. Yeah.
- 10:45Yeah, I mean, but you made a good point.
- 10:47That's what's going to bring up Jack.
- 10:48They have to win this next game. I mean they look like they are
- 10:52mentally and emotional fragile right now.
- 10:54Let's talk about those leads that they have blown.
- 10:57They have lost double digit leads in both games, one and
- 11:00two, especially concerning a veteran team.
- 11:03They are veteran team. They're coming back.
- 11:04They're defending champions. I mean, critics have really
- 11:08hopped all over this to look at the visible frustration.
- 11:11You can see the frustration on these players faces when
- 11:15throughout the team, throughout the Celtics team, when things
- 11:18are not going their way, they have been overly relying on
- 11:20these three pointers. I blame Steph Curry, you know,
- 11:23he's been the three-point king and everybody seems to think
- 11:26that's what you do in playoffs. But the Celtics have gone from
- 11:30cold to frozen, Jack. I mean, their three points are
- 11:33not 3 pointers, are not going in.
- 11:35They do not have diversity on their offense and let's be
- 11:39honest, they just don't even have a back up plan.
- 11:42They're so relying on these three pointers to catch up and
- 11:44make the difference that they're below these leagues.
- 11:47Meanwhile, the Knicks are playing aggressively.
- 11:50They're guarding the perimeter, and they're forcing the tough
- 11:53looks. Yeah.
- 11:55I mean, you use the keyword diversity, OK?
- 11:58The Celtics really don't have it.
- 12:00They've just been shooting 3 pointers and they're shooting
- 12:04has been really poor. But it's going to get better.
- 12:08So if I'm the next, I would be somewhat concerned because the
- 12:11Knicks are going to have to make certain adjustments and they
- 12:15basically give a lot of minutes to their start.
- 12:18This is most teams do. I mean, just look at any NBA box
- 12:22score and you have about 6-6 guys with the DNP next to their
- 12:27name. We're not even seeing any time
- 12:30you want the Knicks to start utilizing Mitch Robinson a
- 12:33little more. He gives you a certain defensive
- 12:35presence that Karl Anthony Towns doesn't give.
- 12:38Now, Karl Anthony Towns is fine grabbing rebounds and he's not a
- 12:42bad defender, but Mitch Robinson is a little bit better as a
- 12:46defender. But you can't have him on the
- 12:47court towards the end of the game because, I mean, one of his
- 12:51foul shots the other day was laughable.
- 12:54Like what happened if that ball slipped out of his hand?
- 12:57That's why I was like, that could not have been a real shot.
- 12:59I was watching that and I was like, it was, was that supposed
- 13:03to happen? It just looked like the ball had
- 13:06some type of debris on it because the IT was just such an
- 13:09uncontrolled shot. And the Celtics kept fouling
- 13:13them at the end when they had fouls to give.
- 13:17And Tom Thibodeau wisely took Mitch Robinson out of the game
- 13:22when he'd finally be forced to shoot.
- 13:25OK, He didn't have to go to the line on the two fouls before
- 13:28that that when they filed them. So it was OK to leave Mitch
- 13:32Robinson then. Then Tom Thibodeau thought, I
- 13:35can't leave him in the game anymore because next time he's
- 13:38going to have to go to the line. And that's a terrible percentage
- 13:43situation for the Knicks because if he goes to the line for two
- 13:47shots, chances are he misses one of the two.
- 13:50If you're giving a possession back where the other team could
- 13:54get two or three points, he kind of analytics wise, you're
- 13:58putting the Celtics in position to catch up.
- 14:00Listen, the Celtics are going to hit a number of those shots they
- 14:04missed going forward in these playoffs, OK?
- 14:08So the Knicks are going to have to step up as well and it's one
- 14:13game at a time. I look for bounce back from the
- 14:17Celtics in game three. I hope not.
- 14:20I hope the Knicks are riding a wave of momentum.
- 14:23You're hoping the Celtics are a little bit down in the dump.
- 14:27So they're shooting woes continue and the Knicks can go
- 14:30up three one against the Celtics because if they go back to
- 14:35Boston and the Knicks have a three one lead, chances are
- 14:39Boston's favor to win game five. It doesn't mean they will.
- 14:43And then the next time a lot of pressure for Game 6 because they
- 14:46don't want to go back to Boston for Game 7.
- 14:49So in other words, any thought of the Boston demise, forget
- 14:53about it. No one thought the Celtics would
- 14:55be down to nothing at this point.
- 14:58No one. I mean, I thought, I thought in
- 15:01the game, you know, the night before last that they would,
- 15:05they would not by double digits, 15 points or so.
- 15:08When they got up to 20 point lead, I said why didn't I pick
- 15:12them to blow the Knicks out? I should have known better.
- 15:15You know, they lost game one coming out with a vengeance and
- 15:19they're going to set things straight.
- 15:21And the Knicks clawed back and forth.
- 15:24You know, Jalen Brunson, I don't know if you rate the top ten
- 15:29players in the NBA, how many people would put them in the top
- 15:32ten. If they did, I think he would be
- 15:34rated 8th and 9th at a lot of party.
- 15:38I I don't have a list for that. If I have one Criticism of Jalen
- 15:43Brunson, sometimes he tries to do a little too much, carried a
- 15:47whole team on his back. He holds the ball, holds the
- 15:51ball, holds the ball and tries to score by force.
- 15:55You know what? Listen, Jalen, for instance, the
- 15:58leader of that team, he wanted to be a neck.
- 16:01And what were the maps thinking when they let him go?
- 16:04They didn't give him the contract.
- 16:07I mean, they didn't think he was going to be that good, and they
- 16:10had him. But his dad's an assistant coach
- 16:12with the Knicks that he's at the place he wants to be.
- 16:16And he took a little less of a contract than he could have
- 16:19gotten Jalen Brunson because he wants to keep things intact.
- 16:23Also, McHale Bridges the Knicks gave up a boatload and future
- 16:29draft choices for. McHale Bridge, yes.
- 16:33You, you don't give up what the Knicks gave up unless you're
- 16:36getting a superstar type player, true impact player.
- 16:41But I'll tell you this. If the Knicks win the NBA
- 16:45championship, and it's not far fetched now because if they
- 16:49beat, if they beat the Celtics and there's a good chance the
- 16:54Pacers beat the Cavaliers in their series, the next can beat
- 16:59the Pacers in the Eastern. And whoever's coming out of the
- 17:04West, the next have a shot to beat anyone coming out of the
- 17:08West. It's not like you have the
- 17:10Lakers of Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant the way and you're
- 17:14like a powerhouse. No, not at all.
- 17:16They can. Beat anyone in the West if they
- 17:17won an NBA championship the next?
- 17:20Are you kidding me that Mikkel Bridges deal?
- 17:23It is worth it, no matter what happens in the seasons to come.
- 17:28I mean, they're really going to have to bank on that because
- 17:31they've the Celtics as a whole have been priding themselves on
- 17:34defense, but there's been slow on their rotations.
- 17:38They allowed key Knicks role players to get hot, Josh Hart
- 17:41and Dante Divisino. They've been struggling to
- 17:44contain Jalen Brunson, who you talked about him.
- 17:47They've been, you know, he's been picking apart their
- 17:49mismatches. Now they need to make some
- 17:52coaching as. They've been saying no.
- 17:54You're thinking less. Yeah.
- 17:56You know, he's still understandable.
- 17:58Yeah, no, But yeah, you're thinking of the other.
- 18:00You're thinking of the other game, you know.
- 18:02Yeah, because we were bringing up Jalen Brunson, but with Joe
- 18:05Missoula's game, well. They played together, Villanova.
- 18:08That's why you thought that they were teammates at Villanova.
- 18:12Well, well know that they've they've been picking apart him.
- 18:15The Celtics have been doing that to Jalen Brunson, is what I'm
- 18:17saying. They cannot contain him.
- 18:20They can't contain Jalen Brunson.
- 18:22That was what I was saying. Like he's been, he's basically
- 18:25been picking them apart. They can't hold him down, you
- 18:27know what I'm saying? But there's got to be some
- 18:29coaching adjustments with Joe Missoula because right now Tom
- 18:33Thibodeau is not playing house money.
- 18:36He's playing chess while Joe is playing checkers, their timeout
- 18:41and rotations. I mean, they're not using good
- 18:44game clock management at all. That's why they're trying to do
- 18:47all these files at the end Jack to try to make up and they're
- 18:50blowing these leaves and they have lack of game adjustments
- 18:53within in the game like it's. Horrible.
- 18:56Yeah, well, Branson got fouled at the end of, you know, towards
- 19:00the end of the game, went to the line, hit his shots.
- 19:02But Joe Missoula, you know, they won an NBA championship last
- 19:06year. People in Boston are calling
- 19:08from to get fired. I mean what?
- 19:12What have you done? I don't.
- 19:14Care. Listen, I don't care if he had a
- 19:18is having a lousy time coaching in the playoffs.
- 19:21I'm not saying he is, but I don't care if he is.
- 19:25There isn't. You don't find a guy who just
- 19:27won you an NBA championship unless, unless things are so out
- 19:32of control for whatever reason. You you just don't do that.
- 19:36It's what have you done for me lately?
- 19:38And all they're seeing is what's happening now.
- 19:40They they forget about the past. You know how quick people forget
- 19:42about the past, Jack? It's like if it's not happening
- 19:46now, it doesn't matter. It's like when, now when every
- 19:50time or else we hate you and we are tired.
- 19:52We're trying to get rid of you now.
- 19:54You brought up the top ten NBA players and I look while we've
- 19:57been sitting here and shockingly, Jalen Brunson is not
- 20:01on that list. Yeah, I he wouldn't be on the
- 20:03level lists because there's so many great players in the NBAI
- 20:08mean, even pairing the Knicks and the Celtics, OK, would we
- 20:12put them ahead of Jason Tatum? Probably not Jason.
- 20:17Tatum's on this list is number. 4 right, right, right.
- 20:19I'm just saying you just look at teams.
- 20:22Would I put them ahead of Brown? I actually would.
- 20:26I some people wouldn't. That's the thing about it.
- 20:30And then you look at the other playoff series.
- 20:32I mean, you look at Denver, would you put them ahead of
- 20:36Jokic? No, no, not.
- 20:39Obviously not. Would you put them ahead of Sean
- 20:42Gilly, Gilchius Alexander? I don't think so.
- 20:46No joke is number one a three times MVP.
- 20:50Right, most. Offensive big man in the league.
- 20:54Would you put them ahead of Giannis?
- 20:56No, Giannis is like, yeah, Giannis is number 2.
- 21:01Would you put them ahead of Steph Curry?
- 21:04No. Steph is #6.
- 21:07Yeah, I'm just saying you, you think of the team now, this is
- 21:11an interesting one, really an interesting one.
- 21:15Would you put him ahead of Anthony Edwards?
- 21:19I knew you were going to say that, so I probably would.
- 21:23And Anthony Edwards is not on the top ten list.
- 21:27Yeah, so without Anthony Edwards, you know, we'll see how
- 21:30his series concludes and everything.
- 21:33You know, rather they and we'll see how it's season, we'll see
- 21:37how this season concludes. Yeah, like maybe top top 20
- 21:42players for sure. Yeah, but I would put Brunson.
- 21:46I would feel comfortable putting Brunson ahead of other
- 21:51outstanding players like Devin Booker.
- 21:54Yeah, I would put him in like #9 or 8.
- 21:57Iris Maxi, I would put him ahead of those guys.
- 22:01You could say it's close if you want, you could say it's close,
- 22:04but I would put him ahead of those guys.
- 22:07OK? I would put him ahead of Jay
- 22:10Morant. I would place them above a lot
- 22:13of top of the line guys. I mean, but you bring up John
- 22:17Morant. I mean, would we, would we
- 22:19really even put him in the same category?
- 22:22No, no, not even the same category.
- 22:24What if I look at someone like Luca?
- 22:27Everyone would put Luca ahead of Jalen Bronson.
- 22:29But the more you think of it, Luca has the liability on
- 22:33defense. We know.
- 22:35We never consider that. You know, reminds me of baseball
- 22:38where you look at a guy's numbers.
- 22:40Oh, he has a high batting average.
- 22:43He knocks in a lot of runs. He hits a lot of home runs, but
- 22:46meanwhile, before they had the designated hitter, the guy would
- 22:49be floundering around the outfield, you know, and giving
- 22:53up runs the other way. But it didn't show in the box
- 22:56scores. By the way, my favorite player,
- 22:59I hate to say it, 1 your favorite player.
- 23:02Freddie Freeman got off the great study.
- 23:04He shouldn't be my favorite player.
- 23:06I'm a Yankee fan. I relate.
- 23:09I relate to Freddie Friedman because I was the first baseman
- 23:13who wasn't good enough to make the major leagues.
- 23:16And yeah, yeah, but I. But Freddie Freeman was just
- 23:22great role model, great Atlanta Brave.
- 23:24Gray has his legacy as a Dodge. It all worked out for him.
- 23:28But we'll talk baseball, I guess.
- 23:30Another Yeah. I miss him every time I see him
- 23:33suit up for the. Dodgers Oh yeah, yeah.
- 23:35Wonderful. And faster than the game.
- 23:37You know everything good about the game's.
- 23:39Ready. He is the face of the Braves.
- 23:41I don't care if he is on the West Coast.
- 23:42We I have. A really hot Wait, wait, wait,
- 23:44wait. Yeah, yeah.
- 23:45You're an Atlanta Brave fan. I'll stick on baseball a little
- 23:49bit. You know, you remind.
- 23:51You want me a Mac? We bounced all over the place.
- 23:54We would like the Celtics out of control.
- 23:57No, no. Well, you had a game plan, but,
- 23:59you know, I I guess I threw you off with the plan.
- 24:02But what's the feeling towards Freddie Freeman in Atlanta?
- 24:07Has he lost a tiny bit of popularity?
- 24:10Just a tiny bit. No, not really, because when I
- 24:15go to games in person, when we, you know, when we see anything
- 24:19about the Dodgers or things like that, like the fans still show
- 24:23up and they wear his actual shirts.
- 24:26Like I have a shirt with his name on the back and they just
- 24:29act like he's an extension of the team still.
- 24:31It's kind of like Dansby Swanson, you know?
- 24:34I mean, we just still have these players.
- 24:36But Freddie was so long tenured here.
- 24:40Like I said, he literally is like the face of the Braves.
- 24:43And so and and Freddie didn't want to go.
- 24:46Everybody was mad that the Braves got rid of him.
- 24:49They were like, you know, of course they want a championship.
- 24:52Everybody wants more money and they just they didn't pay him.
- 24:56They paid Ronald Lacuna Junior and they got.
- 24:59Rid of Well, they didn't really pay Ronald Lacuna Junior.
- 25:01The Braves, a smart organization.
- 25:04No, no, they paid him, but they didn't pay him.
- 25:06Let me explain. They gave Hakuna $100 million
- 25:10for 10 years when he was a young player because they projected he
- 25:15was definitely going to make it. He was going to be a star.
- 25:18You sign them early, you give them that money, you get a
- 25:20bargain now. And obviously that's life
- 25:24changing money and anything can happen.
- 25:27The greatest player to get injured all of a sudden he could
- 25:31forget how to play, and getting the $100 million contract made
- 25:36Hakuna set for life unless he foolishly blows the money.
- 25:41But Hakuna would have been worth so much more money later on in
- 25:47the Brave sign of all those years.
- 25:49And other teams do that sometimes.
- 25:52They project the guy to be a great player going forward.
- 25:56They sign them immediately for a lot less than they have to give
- 25:59later on. And they don't have to compete
- 26:01with anyone. But the Braves did offer Freddie
- 26:06Freeman a contract. It didn't work out.
- 26:07And then Matt Olsen, they signed Matt Olsen from Oakland.
- 26:11It was like a good deal. You know there to be the first
- 26:14baseman and he's worked out. We still got a Zuna, Marcella
- 26:18Zuna still there, of course. And and we've been trying to
- 26:22show some type of change in our win loss pattern.
- 26:26I mean, we barely lost to the Reds a couple days ago, four to
- 26:29three and well, yesterday and we actually had shut out the Reds
- 26:34on the 5th of May when we match up the series.
- 26:37But we're going to be playing the Pirates starting Friday,
- 26:40tomorrow, later today, this afternoon.
- 26:43And hopefully we can really, really regroup because we've
- 26:46been struggling ever since, in my opinion, they started letting
- 26:49those guys go and. I want to thank the Braves for
- 26:52not signing Max Freed. He went to my Yankees and right
- 26:56at this moment, he's the best pitcher.
- 26:59He's the best pitcher in baseball at this moment.
- 27:03He has been incredible, Jack. You couldn't wait till that
- 27:08dagger. You couldn't wait.
- 27:10I told you that who signed an 8 year contract with the Yankees
- 27:16and he's been sensational. I mean, I can't tell you how
- 27:20good the guy has been. I mean, and we needed them with
- 27:24Garrett Cole getting injured, being out for the season.
- 27:27But with Freddie Freeman, you know, my favorite player really
- 27:30should be Aaron Judge as he represents everything good with
- 27:34the game and he is the best player in the game.
- 27:36But I kind of relate to a first baseman a little more and I felt
- 27:41for Freddie Freeman having leaving the Braves.
- 27:45He fired his agent after that was because.
- 27:48Of the reason why that's the reason why Jack, his agent did a
- 27:52horrible job trying to negotiate the deal with the Braves and and
- 27:57Freddie said he didn't even know about it Jack.
- 27:59What But but if the Braves valued Freddie Freeman and
- 28:03there's certain players who should be legacy players, who
- 28:07should be with their team their whole career, it's more than
- 28:11just what they're worth on the field at that moment.
- 28:15They're very few players should be legacy players.
- 28:18There's there's so few. But Freddie Freeman was one for
- 28:22the Braves. So in defense of Freddie
- 28:24Freeman, if I'm the Braves and I want him to be my legacy player
- 28:29regardless of his age, and I say, Freddie, you home now?
- 28:32Can I stop by your house? And I say, Freddie, this is the
- 28:36situation. This is it.
- 28:39This is crunch time. OK, well, we love you here, but
- 28:43this is what we're offering. We're not negotiating anymore
- 28:46with with serious. We'll give you a few days, but
- 28:50we're not negotiating further. And I would basically just tell
- 28:57them we're moving on. But they signed.
- 28:59But what happened, the Braves before they officially cut ties
- 29:03with Freddie Freeman, they covered their bases.
- 29:06They signed Matt Olsen. So he kind of got a little
- 29:09blindsided. It's not like they said, thank
- 29:12you, Freddie, good luck to you. And then, and if they didn't
- 29:16sign Matt Olsen and they told Freddie Freeman we're moving on
- 29:20from you, his he may have called back Freddie Freeman and said,
- 29:23look, I want to stay at Atlanta. And that's that.
- 29:26But it didn't quite happen. Yeah.
- 29:29I've still heard about that. So, and if he goes, would you
- 29:32be, would he still be a favorite player if he plays let's say 6
- 29:38more years for the LA Dodgers? They win a couple of other
- 29:41championships. He's outstanding.
- 29:45And when he goes in the Hall of Fame, he elects to go in as a
- 29:48Dodge instead of a Brave. So I still really like him.
- 29:56I mean, I'm a fan of Solaire also and Asuna and Dansby
- 30:02Swanson. Like I'm a fan of that whole
- 30:04championship team. But Freddie Freeman was like my
- 30:08favorite. And so I kind of, I mean, I'd be
- 30:12rooting him on, but I would be a little sad that he didn't go in
- 30:15as a brave. I mean, I, I don't know if they
- 30:17do it like they do the NFL, even if they play, can they come back
- 30:20and, you know, go in as another player?
- 30:23No, no, you. Sometimes the player is split
- 30:27down the middle, like he's had a great career of equal status
- 30:31with both teams. And it's such a hard decision
- 30:35what to do. Major League Baseball made a
- 30:37decision on Gary Carter, who was the Montreal Expo catcher and
- 30:42the Met catcher. And Carter was like a big part
- 30:47of the Mets winning the 1986 World Series.
- 30:50Was loved in New York, famous Met, yet they decided he was
- 30:55going to go in as Montreal Expo, Major League Baseball.
- 30:58Decided that Dave Winfield played a lot, a lot of years
- 31:03with the Yankees and with the San Diego Padres.
- 31:07It was kind of close which one he'd go in with, But the Padres
- 31:11wanted him to go in as a Padre and they gave him $1,000,000 to
- 31:15go in as a Padre, you know, and at that time $1,000,000, you
- 31:20know, retired players would buy that, that a lot more than they
- 31:25would today. So he took the money, the
- 31:27$1,000,000 Winfield took, and he went in as a San Diego Padre.
- 31:31Mike Usina had like an 18 year career, 10 with the Baltimore
- 31:37Orioles, 8 with the New York Yankees.
- 31:40He got into the Hall of Fame. He elected to go in as neither
- 31:43nor really Yankee because he couldn't decide.
- 31:47He couldn't decide. I'll give you another case.
- 31:49He goes in independent. He just goes in as an
- 31:52independent player. Is that how?
- 31:53Yeah. Kind of as an independent, yeah.
- 31:56That's like weird. Reggie Jackson played a total of
- 32:02he played for the Yankees, the Angels, the Orioles and the
- 32:07Athletics. But primarily he played he, he,
- 32:11I think he played five years for the Angels, but he was never
- 32:14going into an Angel. He played five years for the
- 32:16Yankees, nine years as an Athletic.
- 32:20He won three World Series as an Athletic, 2 as a Yankee.
- 32:26But of course his most famous moments of individually were
- 32:30more so the Yankee. He elected to go in as a Yankee
- 32:33even though his body of work is in Oakland Athletic was greater
- 32:38and Major League Baseball didn't stop him because he, you know,
- 32:42he had the famous three home run game and or you know, created a
- 32:47big buzz during the time he was in New York.
- 32:50But he went in as a Yankee and that's that's what it is.
- 32:55Yeah, well listen, y'all know my phrases.
- 32:59The verdict is still out and it's still really early in
- 33:02baseball. I got to pin us back real quick
- 33:05because we did not get a chance to talk about the Nuggets and
- 33:09Thunder. They are tied for one and one
- 33:12right now and the Thunder had a dominant performance.
- 33:16I mean 149 and one O 6. There was no match up
- 33:21whatsoever. They literally let Denver know
- 33:25we are going absolutely no here. We are not laying down.
- 33:29And actually Jack, this is maybe where you know, Denver fans may
- 33:34look at it like, OK, This is why we have an interim head coach.
- 33:38It finally showed in that game. Well, I'm going to say Denver.
- 33:44Going into the OKC series, we thought they'd be a tire team.
- 33:49They had that seven game series with the Clippers.
- 33:52Even though they won Game 7 decisively, there had to be a
- 33:56lot of emotions. OKC was rested waiting for him.
- 34:00Yet Denver stole game one against OKC at the end of the
- 34:04game. I mean, OKC had a three-point
- 34:07lead with what, 9 1/2 seconds left and was a classic case of
- 34:11over coaching by, you know, OK, Steve, but you know, that's done
- 34:18and OK C, you know, I mean, it didn't stay with them.
- 34:24To their credit, they lost that game to them.
- 34:27OK, we lost the game. Forget about it.
- 34:29The series is now starting for us.
- 34:31They came in with a rat a great attitude.
- 34:34They were raring to go, and I kind of have a feeling that the
- 34:39Nuggets were so emotionally drained from beating the
- 34:42Clippers and then winning game one at OK C and knowing they
- 34:46were going back to Denver for Games 3 and 4.
- 34:50They're probably thinking, well, we won one here, we'd like to
- 34:54win another one. But OK C came out with a
- 34:56vengeance. They're not playing around.
- 34:59They, I mean, they took it to the Nuggets.
- 35:01They didn't only want to show them that they were the better
- 35:04team. They want to show them they were
- 35:05the much better team and I think that they kind of made a little
- 35:10bit of a statement in Game 2. But if you're the Nuggets, you
- 35:15look at it as a throwaway game, OK, better, you know, get the
- 35:19game out of the way. We're tired, we lost.
- 35:21We know we're not going to sweep them.
- 35:23We needed to take a step back. We don't care how much they won
- 35:27by. We'll be ready for them when
- 35:28they come to Denver. You know what the big difference
- 35:31in this game was? Then?
- 35:33Game one, Jack Nicola Jokis, he fouled out in the third quarter.
- 35:38He only had 17 points as opposed to the 42 points he had in game
- 35:43one and the 22 rebounds in game two.
- 35:48OK C set a franchise playoff record and tied the NBA playoff
- 35:53record with 87 points in the first half, 87.
- 35:58I mean, they didn't have to do nothing the rest of the game.
- 36:00This shy Julia Julius Alexander's efficiency.
- 36:04He led the Thunder with 34 points.
- 36:06He was the new the new joke it 34 points, 11 from 13 from the
- 36:12field and 11 of 11 from his free throw line.
- 36:15He was flawless with eight assists.
- 36:17Jokish was the difference maker by him filing out.
- 36:20He and he never gave an opportunity for the Nuggets to
- 36:24come back. You know, Jokish is arguably the
- 36:28best all around center in the history of the game.
- 36:31I mean, arguably I'm, I mean, we keep hearing about the great
- 36:36centers. We hear about Russell
- 36:38Chamberlain, Kareem, you know, Shaq, Elijah Wan, etcetera,
- 36:43etcetera, etcetera, who does all the things that Jokic could do.
- 36:47Now, Kareem was pretty good. If he was asked to do it, Kareem
- 36:51could actually dribble, and he was enough of a talent that if
- 36:55they needed Kareem to play a little guard in an emergency, he
- 36:58could dribble. Well, people don't realize about
- 37:01Kareem, but the way Djokic passes the ball, he hits the
- 37:04open man, he gets out. What concerns me about Djokic,
- 37:08it's kind of his big body. He looks like he's always tired
- 37:12and they he's like, he love the ring all the time.
- 37:14Now, LeBron James has a big body too, but he seems to run the
- 37:18court, you know, with a little more abandoned and you know,
- 37:23Jokic, Jokic kind of lumbers up and down the court, but he's
- 37:26always there when you need them. He's always there when you need.
- 37:31Them. And I like the idea when I keep
- 37:33hearing all well, the old timers couldn't keep up with the modern
- 37:37NBA players. Just look at them.
- 37:38If you insert Djokic into 19, sixties, 1970s, he'd look like
- 37:43the other guys. Lumbering the corner.
- 37:45Is that not the tiny shorts though, Jack?
- 37:49No, no, not not that. But then, then.
- 37:54But because they won an NBA title a couple of years ago, is
- 37:59a favorite in a lot of people's minds.
- 38:01But that really shouldn't figure into things I don't want to
- 38:05hear. Well, Denver knows what it takes
- 38:08to win. Yeah, they do on that one year.
- 38:11The players like Murray, Gordon, you know, with Jokic, of course,
- 38:15but they also know what it takes to lose because I started that
- 38:19one championship year. They've gotten eliminated the
- 38:22other years. So I I don't want to hear about
- 38:25it. I mean, what a team's done in
- 38:28the past usually doesn't have, you know, much to do in the
- 38:32future. Once in a while, yeah, you can
- 38:35call upon the experience. If you've played a number game
- 38:39sevens before, it'll help you. If you're playing a current Game
- 38:457, because you've been there, you can control your nerves
- 38:48better. You know, you're not as hyper.
- 38:51And so we'll see. But it's it.
- 38:54But then for OK C, you know, I kind of wonder, you know, is how
- 39:02long Denver is going to hang in there.
- 39:03Believe it or not, I like OKC. I know this is a little bold.
- 39:08I like OKC to win games three and four in Denver.
- 39:11How's that? That's a bold statement.
- 39:14That's a bold statement, but then that means that they are
- 39:17done because. They'll be done.
- 39:20They'll be done. It's.
- 39:22A wrap. And then we'll see what happens,
- 39:25you know, with the winner, you know, between Golden State and
- 39:29Minnesota, you know what'll happen there.
- 39:32But I can't say. OK, see it then.
- 39:34But but, but, but I think of all, we haven't talked about
- 39:38another series, the Cavaliers and the Pacers.
- 39:42Now that's surprising the heck out of me.
- 39:44That's the price. And I think Cleveland, they look
- 39:48pretty much cooked to me here the way it is now.
- 39:51Now, I don't say it with confidence, OK, CS going to win
- 39:54games three and four. Don't get me wrong.
- 39:57I'm just coming up with a bold prediction, you know, and and
- 40:02when the show's over, I'm probably going to say, yeah,
- 40:05they'll probably split in Denver.
- 40:07You know, I'll, I'll reassess. I'm just, I'm just acting a
- 40:11little arrogant now with that prediction you brought up a
- 40:14little arrogant, but but. Yeah, but Cleveland and and the
- 40:19Pacers? Those are some challenging games
- 40:22right there. I mean, zero and two, they're
- 40:25down. Like, I mean, one, 21112 in the
- 40:30last game, 1/21/19 and a close nail biter for Game 2.
- 40:35And I mean, you know, Tyrese Halliburton and this whole this
- 40:41whole fiasco, I mean, Donald and Mitchell being on a, he's
- 40:45expected to come back for Game 3.
- 40:48So is Darius, Garland, Evan Mobley, DeAndre Hunter, they may
- 40:52even attempt to play in game three.
- 40:54This may be their only saving grace, but their status is still
- 40:58uncertain. Jack.
- 40:59Did you hear what your favorite sports analyst had to say?
- 41:05I knew you were going to talk about him.
- 41:06You know what? He was getting on Darius Garland
- 41:11of all people. I mean, I guess Darius Garland
- 41:14to get his name out there and he was putting them down.
- 41:17He was saying I don't, he said, I'm paraphrasing.
- 41:21He said something in effect. I'm not questioning the
- 41:24brother's toe, whether it's really injured.
- 41:27I'm not. Yeah, he's throws in the word
- 41:29brother, you know, whatever. But he's he's or he's not
- 41:35questioning the severity of the injury.
- 41:38Why Darius Garland can't fight? But unless your toe is falling
- 41:42off, you better dawn get yourself on the court with the
- 41:45season on the line. I don't.
- 41:48Doesn't he think Darius Garland wants to win bad enough?
- 41:52Does he think Darius Garland can play but can't go?
- 41:58Only Darius Garland knows the way he feels.
- 42:01You know, once in a while, I'll just say Sonia now, I'll finish
- 42:06quick on this. Once in a while, you had to have
- 42:09a player who kind of milks out an injury.
- 42:12I understand that. But some people felt that way
- 42:16about Ben Simmons. I can understand questioning it,
- 42:19but not not Darius Carlin. If his toe prohibits him from
- 42:23get being able to jump, put any weight on it.
- 42:27I know as a runner you get shut down.
- 42:31I mean, what's baffling to me is how loud Stephen A always is.
- 42:36And he's never played a down in the NFL and he's never caught a
- 42:40basket in the NBA as a writer. He was a writer, a well known
- 42:46writer, but the fact that he can always come out because this is
- 42:50not the first time he's made comments about players, injuries
- 42:53and be the basically team expert.
- 42:56He knows more than the medical doctors.
- 42:58These professional teams have professional doctors who can
- 43:02tell whether or not someone's injury is significant enough for
- 43:06them to miss games. And the fact that this team is
- 43:09in the playoffs, there is no way a team doctor is going to say,
- 43:14oh, he can't play just because he's told him not to say that
- 43:18they are trying to win a championship.
- 43:20And so Stephen A is loud and wrong as usual.
- 43:24Yeah, no, I like Stephen A don't get me wrong.
- 43:27I actually like to listen to Stephen AI don't feel he's a bad
- 43:32guy. And I'm friends with Max
- 43:33Kellerman and, you know, I'm Max, you know, and him didn't,
- 43:38you know, not the most pleasant falling out, you know, stuff
- 43:43that I was told I'm going to keep to myself always.
- 43:46But. But there was a case years ago,
- 43:50OK, years ago, a pitch on the Houston Astros.
- 43:54I don't know where they heard of him.
- 43:55Jr. Richard, he couldn't pitch.
- 43:59He kept saying he's not feeling well.
- 44:01He's not feeling well, He's not feeling well.
- 44:03The doctors would check him and say, Nah, he's good to go.
- 44:06And he said he wasn't good to go.
- 44:08And he was accused of dogging it.
- 44:10And then he had a stroke a little after that.
- 44:13So he did have, you know, something bad that threw him off
- 44:18the way he felt. And, and you know what?
- 44:20That's why I wouldn't question. I hope no one questions poor
- 44:24Zingis if the Celtics lose this series, because I know how it
- 44:28feels. You have a virus, OK, Because I
- 44:31had a virus a few years ago. It put me out for like 6 weeks.
- 44:36I would like, I can hardly, I can hardly do anything for six
- 44:43weeks. And if I, and I thought to
- 44:45myself, you know, if I, if I was a ballplayer and I had to play
- 44:49the Super Bowl, the way I'm playing now, I'm staying home.
- 44:54I'm not even trying to play. I'm, you know.
- 44:57We saw that with Jalen Hurts when he had a some type of flu.
- 45:01They made sure they said it was a cover, but he traveled
- 45:04separately and everything last year when the Eagles were
- 45:07eliminated. But believe these players if
- 45:10they if they can't play whatever, you know, it happened
- 45:14a time something remember the Bear quarterback Jay Cutler, I
- 45:18think when was he on the Bears then or whatever was in the
- 45:23playoff game and he left the game early and he was standing
- 45:29on the sideline because he left early because of his knee and
- 45:32everyone was criticizing them all.
- 45:35He should have gotten in there, tried to play.
- 45:37He's a quitter. He's standing.
- 45:39That's a big difference with him playing and standing if your
- 45:42knee hurts. That's because Jay Cutler never
- 45:45gave a darn. Everybody knows that.
- 45:48He went into retirement and then the Dolphins drafted him and
- 45:51everybody was like, he looked like he cared more about playing
- 45:54for the Dolphins that one season than he did with the Bears.
- 45:57Jay Cutler was horrible as far as showing enthusiasm about the
- 46:02game. He would throw an interception
- 46:04and it was no his poker face was unwrinkled.
- 46:07He didn't even care. So when he had that little knee
- 46:10situation, Bears fans went crazy.
- 46:13They were like, we're sick of him, get him out of there.
- 46:16Because he listen, me as a Panthers fan, I knew how Jay
- 46:20Cutler was and we only played them like every three to four
- 46:23years. And I even knew he had AI don't
- 46:25care attitude. Now, Jack, we got about 9
- 46:29minutes left and I do want to talk some NFL since you brought
- 46:31that in there. Speaking of not playing and
- 46:34injuries, I want to talk about my team, which is something I
- 46:37rarely do. But there was 2 roster moves
- 46:39today with the Panthers, Carolina Panthers that is, is
- 46:42Jadavia Clowney was released veteran pass rusher.
- 46:46It's been talked about for a few days now.
- 46:47Will it happen today? He was a three time Pro Bowler
- 46:51and former number one overall pick.
- 46:54Only recorded 5 1/2 sacks and 46 tackles and 14 starts during
- 46:58this season. His release fees Jack $7.8
- 47:02million in cap space for the Panthers.
- 47:05And then secondly, since you're talking about injuries, Jonathan
- 47:09Brooks, who the Panthers drafted last year drafted him.
- 47:12He was injured. He was on crutches at the draft.
- 47:15They drafted him, he got better. The team doctors put the
- 47:19Panthers team doctors at the time cleared him to play.
- 47:22He got a torn ACL on his second leg, second foot, second leg.
- 47:27And so the Panthers fired their medical staff that cleared him
- 47:31because they cleared him prematurely.
- 47:33Well, today the running back has been placed on the PUP list.
- 47:37Not just for a couple of weeks or a couple of months, the
- 47:40entire 2025 season, Jack, because he got hurt again in
- 47:44December, making his second major knee injury within the
- 47:48same amount of years. Well, I don't understand.
- 47:51Maybe you're doing. You could explain it to me.
- 47:54Brooks isn't going to be playing this year, but the inactive list
- 47:58he was put on, is he still technically a member of the
- 48:01Panthers mean he wasn't was he caught a just put on an inactive
- 48:07list that is there's a big difference If he was caught once
- 48:11he gets healthy, he could try out for any other team that what
- 48:15did the Panthers still have to write to him?
- 48:17Because it seems a little odd and it would seem a little cold.
- 48:20You fire, you know, a train on the medical staff because of the
- 48:24way he handled and then cut the play on it.
- 48:27That seems a little cruel. Yeah, I'm going to, I'm going
- 48:30to, I'm going to look because one article has he was released,
- 48:33the other one just talked about him being on PUP.
- 48:36But you're right, it's two different things.
- 48:38So basically they're saying right now he's on the PUP list.
- 48:42The decision follows his torn ACL that he got in the Eagles
- 48:46game, no doubt with them, and it was a non contact injury
- 48:50basically when a rookie ran out and tried to cut during the run.
- 48:53But let me see what he's got with him available.
- 48:57Or with Clowny. Yeah, Barbara, so clowny.
- 49:02I wouldn't shed too much of A tear.
- 49:04His career has been a disappointment.
- 49:07Number one overall draft choice taken by the Houston Texans.
- 49:11They were going to match them with JJ Watt.
- 49:15Terrific 1-2 punch and clowny. You know, he was a he's been a
- 49:23good player. No more than good.
- 49:26You know, I like to give grades. You know what I Clowny's like?
- 49:31He's a university student with AB average AB.
- 49:37No, no, but listen. But meanwhile, when he was given
- 49:41his scholarship to college, he was considered the smartest
- 49:46student in his whole high school, the best grades in his
- 49:50high school. Now he gets to college and he
- 49:53can't get A's. He's AB.
- 49:54You know, three times pro Bola he's been, you know he's been
- 49:58OK, but he hasn't given you what you want to number one overall
- 50:03draft choice to give you as a position play.
- 50:06And our quarterbacks are hit and misses.
- 50:09Number one overall draft choices like a Jamie S Winston.
- 50:13They you give quarterbacks a long time, you don't know how
- 50:16they're going to fare. But we're clowny.
- 50:19He'd have certain flashes where he'd look really, really good.
- 50:23But he was never really a dominant player, never showed
- 50:26any long term consistency. 3 Pro Bowls.
- 50:30He's had a nice little career. He's.
- 50:36He's had a career, all right. So let me tell you real quick,
- 50:39Brooks, they're expecting him to make a recovery and and we'll
- 50:42see him in 2026. So the Panthers are going.
- 50:44To keep him. He wasn't cut.
- 50:46He wasn't cut. The Panthers did it the right
- 50:50way. Kudos, especially because him
- 50:52being cleared is really the Panthers fault to begin with
- 50:55that he got that second injury. Now Clowny, the thing Jack, they
- 50:59tried to trade Clowny and nobody wanted him.
- 51:03He's been in the league seven years and been on seven teams
- 51:06already, so he's with a new team every year.
- 51:09He's with the Texans, the Seahawks, the Titans, the
- 51:12Browns, the Ravens and the Panthers.
- 51:15I mean, who want you at this point?
- 51:18It's like, who's going to want him?
- 51:21Someone will pick him up, if not immediately.
- 51:24At some point, the defensive end is going to get injured on one
- 51:28of the teams and neck and they might look too clowny.
- 51:32I mean, it's just the way it works a little.
- 51:35Listen, Hassan Reddick, for example, coming to The Jets was
- 51:39an absolute nightmare. He held out, he lost some money.
- 51:43Then eventually he rejoined The Jets and he was missing in
- 51:46action when he was on the field. He was missing in action when he
- 51:49was off the field. He was missing in action Hassan
- 51:52Riddick when he was on the field.
- 51:54No one ever sat a siding of him even when he came back and then
- 51:59Tampa Bay. But Tampa Bay signed him in the
- 52:02off season because he has a reputation and Clowney has a
- 52:06little bit of a reputation. And some team is going to, you
- 52:11know, step up and at some point not signing for big money.
- 52:15But he'll, he'll get a job somewhere, maybe a deal with
- 52:18certain incentives, I don't know.
- 52:21Well, I mean, a couple of days ago, Pittsburgh released George
- 52:26Pickens, sent him to the Cowboys for a couple of picks.
- 52:29I. Traded.
- 52:30Him was, you know, I said sent traded.
- 52:33Mike Tomlin was behind that report.
- 52:35That's what I thought. They said Mike Tomlin was
- 52:38pushing for it because this dude is a head case, Jack.
- 52:41He's an emotional disaster. He's a locker room.
- 52:46I score. You know, he he is just a ruin.
- 52:49And so sending him out there with CD Lamb people have and
- 52:53this is where we're going to we're going to wrap all this up.
- 52:56They still don't even have their their quarterback really even
- 53:00with Kitty Pickett, they are not sold on him.
- 53:02You send him to the Cowboys. I mean, there's no competition
- 53:05there because they're in the NFC there in the AFC, but they're
- 53:11yes, that's. What I'm saying, Zach Prescott
- 53:17is a good leader. But he's not going to be a
- 53:19number one. He's not going to be a #1
- 53:21receiver. And that's what he wants to be.
- 53:23But because the Cowboys have CD land, they already have their
- 53:26number one target. He's going to be pitching a fit
- 53:28because he's not getting targeted because he's #2 again,
- 53:32in the locker room. And let's be clear, we have not
- 53:35seen Dak throw since he's had his hamstring surgery that he
- 53:38had in the offseason. He missed all most of last
- 53:41season. So they're still a mess, but but
- 53:44some critics are saying that we may see a glimpse of the Michael
- 53:48Irwin run in the 90s with the Cowboys with him coming out
- 53:51here. But it's worth the gamble for
- 53:54the Cowboys. Think of what they gave up.
- 53:57They gave up a third round draft choice and they flip-flopped 5th
- 54:01and 6th, right? So 5th and 6th isn't that big of
- 54:05a deal. You know, it means a little, but
- 54:07it's not that big of a deal. And so if it doesn't work out
- 54:10for the Cowboys, they lost the third round draft choice.
- 54:12It has value, but it's worth taking a chance.
- 54:15And what happens if it does work out?
- 54:17What happens if there's a chemistry with that Prescott and
- 54:20Pickens and Pickens us, you know, happy that he could
- 54:24produce. You know, obviously he's very
- 54:27talented. And it's worth a gamble for
- 54:30Dallas. And also, Dallas had to do
- 54:34something in the offseason. They would heavily criticize not
- 54:37making moves. And this is a move just, you
- 54:40know, just so quiet their fan base for the time being.
- 54:44Oh, we are doing something. We picked up George Pickens, who
- 54:47could make an impact. Let's see what he does.
- 54:51Yeah, that's true. And and Speaking of Speaking of
- 54:54Dallas, but not the team Dallas, Dallas go there to tight end for
- 54:57the Eagles has finally restructured his deal despite
- 55:01them talking about trading him. They are going to keep him with
- 55:04the Eagles next season. He restructured his deal with
- 55:06them. Also say Quan Barkley is
- 55:09training a 360° spin move, some new move he's coming up with
- 55:15that he's going to be aiming to debut next season.
- 55:18And let's not forget some of these critical rules that are
- 55:21coming into like the movement of the chains is going to be all AI
- 55:24generated Jack. So it won't be no more
- 55:27challenging for the first down the the index card measuring
- 55:30none of that. Let me tell you a new rule I'd
- 55:33like to see in the NFL, and no one is met, no one's mentioned
- 55:36it. OK, If I'm an official and I'm
- 55:39conferring with the other officials, I don't want players
- 55:42standing right behind me. I mean, that should be a rule.
- 55:45Any player that's within, you know, 5 yards of the officials
- 55:51or whatever, you know, you throw a flag.
- 55:53You can't go near the officials when they're discussing things
- 55:57and give you $0.02. It would be highly annoying to
- 56:01me if I'm an official. I always wondered about that
- 56:04because I'm like, it's like they're right there.
- 56:08And I always thought growing up that players were not supposed
- 56:11to communicate with officials, that, you know, they're the
- 56:13unbiased. I don't know what they're.
- 56:14Communicating verbally, I shouldn't say that, I really
- 56:18shouldn't say that, but I know they're standing right behind
- 56:22the official. And sometimes they're miked up,
- 56:24you can hear them. Yeah.
- 56:27Yeah, I mean, well, the schedule comes out next week, Jack.
- 56:31May 14th, we get a chance. I mean, of course, most teams
- 56:34know the opponents, but they don't know the exact dates or
- 56:36what have you. The Week 1 is going to be the
- 56:39Chargers are going to be hosting a game in Brazil, marking the
- 56:42second year that the NFL is going to have their season
- 56:45opener over there. And then the Browns and your
- 56:48team, The Jets, are going to be hosting Games in London, and the
- 56:53Colts will host their game in Germany, making it the first NFL
- 56:58game in Berlin, Germany. And then the Steelers are going
- 57:01to be hosting a game in Dublin, Ireland, which is the NFL debut
- 57:06in that country. So as we wrap up here, we knew
- 57:08Roger Goodell talked about spreading the NFL worldwide.
- 57:12I mean, is this a step in the right direction?
- 57:14They're adding three more countries.
- 57:16I mean, it's oh, they're going to have a team in another
- 57:21country. Is it viable to have an NFL
- 57:23franchise in England? I mean, teams from the West
- 57:28Coast of the United States can't really fly there.
- 57:31Let's say you put them in The Jets division for whatever
- 57:34reason. It's like a 7 hour flight or
- 57:37something like that. Is it doable?
- 57:41Would be interesting. Otherwise it's just exposing the
- 57:45NFL, you know, like on a DM basis.
- 57:48But if it makes fans happy and for the players, I don't know
- 57:53how they feel about it. Is it an adventure to them or
- 57:56what is it? It's annoying to them.
- 57:59Some of them might like the idea of traveling the other country
- 58:02playing the game. Then there's security concerns
- 58:04with the world we're living in, too.
- 58:06There's definitely security concerns and it was a security
- 58:09concern even last year with the opener because they didn't
- 58:13realize that the team was going to be restricted to their hotel
- 58:16and certain movements because of the colors of the team being,
- 58:20you know, controversial to to gangs that were in the area,
- 58:23Jack. So security for that reason, you
- 58:27know, I personally don't want to travel to another country if I'm
- 58:29going to be limited to my hotel in certain Square.
- 58:31You don't get a chance to to have some downtime at all.
- 58:35But of course, with that schedule coming out, I'm sure
- 58:37they're going to be beefing up their security measures and
- 58:40making sure those are countries that we can actually still
- 58:42travel to because that do not travel is is being updated on a
- 58:46weekly basis. I'm getting emails about that
- 58:47all the time. So I'm sure the NFL is going to
- 58:50be definitely cognizant of. That I want the NFL, you know,
- 58:54to have teams wear the same Don uniform throughout the year.
- 58:59They keep changing it. I could understand if they're
- 59:01wearing a throwback uniform to what they wore earlier when they
- 59:05were franchise. OK, I like the, you know, the
- 59:08Jet green the way they used to have it, but you know, Giants
- 59:12blue, you don't you don't see it quite the same way.
- 59:15Sometimes you look at some of these uniforms and like what
- 59:18team you're watching. They better, they better stick
- 59:21with just white when they're traveling internationally to be
- 59:25on the safe side. Jack, always a good conversation
- 59:28with you, lots of fun. We wish everybody a great
- 59:31weekend. We'll be with you guys tomorrow
- 59:33morning for the debate show our both of us and Jay Trey will be
- 59:36joining us. And of course today we have
- 59:39shows throughout. Download the Roku app and we
- 59:41appreciate you guys. Miss Linda, we love you.
- 59:44We go.
