Latest / THE DAILY BRIEF / 'Outnumbered' left SPEECHLESS by military flyover
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: We've been here for the last two days, and the
- 0:02Speaker 1: ships spanned from eighteen seventy six to twenty sixteen. One
- 0:05Speaker 1: hundred of them are more that or excuse me, seven
- 0:07Speaker 1: of them are more than one hundred years old. And
- 0:10Speaker 1: we just literally felt the couch shake because of the flyovers.
- 0:12Speaker 1: You've been waiting for.
- 0:13Speaker 2: This, only the osprey is amazing. It really shakes the ground.
- 0:16Speaker 2: And it's incredible to be here celebrating with you all,
- 0:19Speaker 2: all of you at home watching and as well the
- 0:21Speaker 2: crowds that despite the up to triple digit heat, are
- 0:24Speaker 2: out here in full force to see and appreciate our
- 0:27Speaker 2: military might in the sea and in this guise. And look,
- 0:30Speaker 2: I'm telling you so, there's three ospreys that I can
- 0:32Speaker 2: see right now by flying in a circle. We have
- 0:34Speaker 2: them on the left side of your screen. You can
- 0:36Speaker 2: probably see the earth start to shake. And it's incredible
- 0:39Speaker 2: as the daughter of a US Navy commander to know
- 0:42Speaker 2: that his parents came over on a ship from Italy
- 0:45Speaker 2: that sailed right through this harbor, and that my mother's
- 0:48Speaker 2: great aunt sailed out of this harbor deploying to World
- 0:53Speaker 2: War II as a US Army nurse. All of us
- 0:56Speaker 2: have these kaleidoscope of stories in our families, of what
- 0:59Speaker 2: America means to me, of what freedom means to our family,
- 1:02Speaker 2: and we represent all of it as we sit here
- 1:04Speaker 2: on this couch, broadcasting to you all through the prism
- 1:07Speaker 2: and the filter of these stories and these heritage. So
- 1:09Speaker 2: I could not be more proud to celebrate America to
- 1:12Speaker 2: fifty alongside you all.
- 1:13Speaker 1: You have fun fact about these ospreys. I used to
- 1:15Speaker 1: write on these as White House Press secretary, and they're
- 1:17Speaker 1: terrified because they're in the back, you've on the eyeshot,
- 1:21Speaker 1: And just I remember writing them and thinking, I appreciate
- 1:24Speaker 1: our military so much. This only exists America to fifty
- 1:28Speaker 1: because of the hundreds of thousands of service members who
- 1:30Speaker 1: gave their life.
- 1:31Speaker 3: I just I'm feeling super emotional right now, and I
- 1:33Speaker 3: don't think it quite hit me, you know, America to
- 1:35Speaker 3: fifty until I sat down, I saw the Statue of
- 1:37Speaker 3: Liberty behind me, and I'm thinking about my uncle, who
- 1:40Speaker 3: is a physician in the US Navy. He sponsored myself
- 1:43Speaker 3: and my family to come to America immigrant hair in
- 1:45Speaker 3: nineteen ninety and I'm sort of just taking it all
- 1:48Speaker 3: in because he passed away earlier this year. And I'm
- 1:51Speaker 3: feeling really emotional right now because I'm just thinking about
- 1:54Speaker 3: all of our veterans and what it's taken for us
- 1:57Speaker 3: to get to two hundred and fifty years. That is
- 1:59Speaker 3: so rare, right a democracy to make it this far,
- 2:03Speaker 3: and we get to be so blessed that we get
- 2:05Speaker 3: to sit here and enjoy and celebrate so many people
- 2:08Speaker 3: have sacrificed ahead of us. I'm also thinking about how
- 2:11Speaker 3: my dad really wanted me to be at an Air
- 2:14Speaker 3: Force pilot. This would have been really cool, really cool
- 2:17Speaker 3: time to be that. But I'm just so grateful to
- 2:19Speaker 3: our military. Yeah.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Absolutely, and Trace It's really remarkable when you think of
- 2:24Speaker 1: this and you think about how the probability was against
- 2:27Speaker 1: America working. There was a lot of apprehension, and I
- 2:30Speaker 1: referred to this last hour. They thought that, you know,
- 2:32Speaker 1: how can self governing work? John Adams question at George
- 2:34Speaker 1: Washington question it. But it did work, and it set
- 2:37Speaker 1: an example and a template for the world.
- 2:39Speaker 4: Yeah, it is working. And that's the whole point of
- 2:41Speaker 4: this is that the American experiment worked extraordinarily well. I mean,
- 2:45Speaker 4: there have been some glitches along the way, but it
- 2:48Speaker 4: has become this amazing concept that the rest of the world.
- 2:52Speaker 4: I mean, you look at the Decoration of Independence and
- 2:54Speaker 4: you think there are a hundred other countries in this
- 2:57Speaker 4: world that have actually modeled their independence their government system
- 3:03Speaker 4: off of the Declaration of Independence. So it is this
- 3:06Speaker 4: document that continues to live. It's like the military equipment
- 3:09Speaker 4: behind us that keeps going on. And when you see
- 3:11Speaker 4: Dana Marie McNichol on the Nimics and you think, what
- 3:14Speaker 4: a great history the NIMTS has. Right it's being retired
- 3:17Speaker 4: nineteen seventy five, it was.
- 3:19Speaker 5: Commissioned, and people forget that it was all this cultural thing.
- 3:22Speaker 4: One of the great aircraft carriers, isn't that In the
- 3:24Speaker 4: movie I think the Final Countdown.
- 3:27Speaker 5: Nineteen eighty where it played an aircraft carrier pre Pearl Harbor.
- 3:30Speaker 5: It shows you how timeless these military weapons and machinery is.
- 3:35Speaker 1: And it is a.
- 3:36Speaker 5: Part of the American concept of the fact that the
- 3:39Speaker 5: next Nimics will look very much like not Mnimets maybe,
- 3:43Speaker 5: but the next ship of the Nimets.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Category will look very much like this.
- 3:47Speaker 5: One, because America has figured out there are certain things
- 3:50Speaker 5: that work exceptionally well and what we're seeing now is
- 3:54Speaker 5: part of that.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Yeah, And as we're talking. I mean, you see us
- 3:57Speaker 1: looking around, because literally the three oscres in succession just
- 4:01Speaker 1: flew over us, shaking the stage, and it is something
- 4:04Speaker 1: to behold as you watch. And Lisa, to the point
- 4:06Speaker 1: that Trace is making, Alexis to Tokville called federalism just
- 4:09Speaker 1: one of the many great attributes of the American government,
- 4:11Speaker 1: a great discovery and modern political science.
- 4:14Speaker 6: Well, kaylle, you're so right, because our founding fathers of
- 4:17Speaker 6: Founding generation knew that centralized power was the danger to
- 4:21Speaker 6: liberty and freedom. And so that's why we have checks
- 4:24Speaker 6: and balances. That's why we have three branches of government.
- 4:27Speaker 6: That's why we have federalism as well. We're supposed to
- 4:29Speaker 6: have this national unity, but you have the fifty states,
- 4:31Speaker 6: and we're literally feeling the might of the United States
- 4:34Speaker 6: military on this couch because for the folks at home,
- 4:37Speaker 6: we can feel it the vibrations of the planes as
- 4:40Speaker 6: they fly by. I think about today, First of all,
- 4:42Speaker 6: this is the best party I've ever been to. But
- 4:44Speaker 6: I think about two hundred and fifty years generations of
- 4:48Speaker 6: patriots who have created and built this nation, who have
- 4:51Speaker 6: preserved the freedom of this nation, laid down their lives
- 4:53Speaker 6: in the pursuit of freedom. I think about patriots like
- 4:56Speaker 6: my granddaddy who served, who's no longer with us as well.
- 5:00Speaker 6: Loved that speech from President Trump because he truly believes
- 5:03Speaker 6: that America is exceptional, and that's why we're exceptional. That
- 5:05Speaker 6: belief that we're exceptional. You heard what he said, after
- 5:08Speaker 6: two hundred and fifty years, America is the oldest republic
- 5:11Speaker 6: on earth. We are the freest.
- 5:12Speaker 1: People on earth.
- 5:13Speaker 6: We are the most righteous and enduring constitution on earth.
- 5:15Speaker 6: We are the strongest, most powerful country on Earth. And
- 5:18Speaker 6: by the grace of God, the United States of America
- 5:20Speaker 6: is the most successful, most accomplished, most exceptional nation ever
- 5:24Speaker 6: to exist in human history. I love that, and I
- 5:27Speaker 6: love that he's the perfect man for this job right now,
- 5:30Speaker 6: someone who believes in every fiber of his being that
- 5:32Speaker 6: America is exceptional, that we're the greatest. The last thing
- 5:35Speaker 6: I want to add, and this is sort of nerdy.
- 5:36Speaker 6: I love how the stamp back played a role in
- 5:38Speaker 6: the American Revolution of seventeen sixty five, because it's something
- 5:42Speaker 6: that seems innocuous, but it was about freedom. You had
- 5:44Speaker 6: this stamp on paper goods across the colonies, and it
- 5:47Speaker 6: led to this idea of no taxation without representation. It
- 5:50Speaker 6: also united the colonies together also with the Stamp Act
- 5:54Speaker 6: progress as well. It led to protest boycotts and this
- 5:59Speaker 6: notion and dere for liberty. So we are an amazing country,
- 6:03Speaker 6: the best country, and we are so blessed to be
- 6:05Speaker 6: born and to be American citizens.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Absolutely, and Benjamin Franklin said, are republic if you can
- 6:10Speaker 1: keep it, and President Trump said last night it is
- 6:12Speaker 1: something we will keep forever. The American people are what
- 6:15Speaker 1: under gerds is. As we celebrate today, we love spending
- 6:18Speaker 1: today celebration with you on America's birthday. But while we
- 6:22Speaker 1: do that, the far left is planning its next moves
- 6:25Speaker 1: to undermine some of the very things that make our
- 6:27Speaker 1: country great. Where democratic socialists are looking to make moves
- 6:31Speaker 1: more gains, I should say, after a wave of primary wins,
- 6:34Speaker 1: that's next.
