- 0:00Welcome to Rick and that Michelle chick.
- 0:03I'm that Michelle chick. And I'm Rick.
- 0:06Welcome. So I have some news.
- 0:09Good news, I am officially a grandma.
- 0:13Yay. Congratulations, Michelle.
- 0:16I love this. I love this.
- 0:18And this is the first grandbaby, right?
- 0:20Yes, but I won't be called Grandma, I will be called Mimi.
- 0:25Her mom goes by Juju and so Mimi, which is fine.
- 0:30What to not be? Yes, I think because I have
- 0:34another friend that I know she goes by Lolly and then her
- 0:39husband is Pops, get it, Lolli and Pops.
- 0:43So I think, yeah, I think the days my mom goes by Nana and so
- 0:48I think the days of going by Grandma or or Nana, my niece
- 0:55calls her other grandma Mima. So I think the days of going by
- 1:01those more old fashioned Grandma E type, I don't know, nicknames,
- 1:06whatever you would call them are kind of going by the wayside.
- 1:09I was. I first threw out that I wanted
- 1:12to be called Glamma. For of course, of course, it had
- 1:16to be Glamma. Right, but they said that'd be
- 1:18too hard for. The.
- 1:20Little one to pronounce so so Mimi it is so.
- 1:25Well, congratulations. If that's, that's pretty, that's
- 1:27pretty amazing. It's got to feel great from take
- 1:30it for somebody who's never going to be a grandfather.
- 1:32So I, I'm so desperate to be a grandfather that I, you can call
- 1:37me gramps. I mean, I still think that I I'd
- 1:40be the coolest grandpa ever. I think you would too, I really
- 1:43do. So congratulations, I'm very
- 1:45proud and Congrats to the happy couple and all that.
- 1:49I know that that's going to be it changes once you have your
- 1:54own kid, your life drastically changes.
- 1:57We already talked about this a long time ago on another
- 1:59podcast, but for me, it's the, it's the most incredible thing
- 2:05you'll ever do. I, I just, I, I, you know, above
- 2:08wealth, above a job, above anything, even even if you're
- 2:11famous. You know that to me, Yeah.
- 2:14Your own child is like, one of the greatest things you'll ever
- 2:16do. Right.
- 2:18And you know, again, we talked about this on another podcast,
- 2:21the love that you feel even when people tell you when you're
- 2:26expecting your first child. Oh, like you are going to feel
- 2:29this love that you have never felt before.
- 2:32And you you can't really grasp it until that baby is really in
- 2:37your arms. And you're like, oh, OK, now,
- 2:39Now I get what they were saying. Yes, because I would move heaven
- 2:42and earth for this little tiny thing, of course.
- 2:45So absolutely, I remember, I remember when Logan was born, it
- 2:48was funny is I I love that you brought up the point because
- 2:52when he was in in his mom's belly, she like, oh, he kicked
- 2:55and da, da, da, da and I and it the realism didn't set in and
- 3:00then once and then once he we pokey had to have an emergency
- 3:04C-section. So that was one thing that I
- 3:05put, yeah, poor, you know, and then, and then Logan was like 10
- 3:08lbs. So he's a big, big baby that
- 3:11came out. And then the, the, the doctor
- 3:15when we went in for the 7th month was like, oh, it's not
- 3:18that big of a baby. And I'm like, holy crap, look at
- 3:20her. She's like massively.
- 3:22She's not that tall, right? No, she's 5. 54 But she was.
- 3:27She was huge. And so and he goes, oh, it'll
- 3:30come out, you know, and like, I'm like that baby is not coming
- 3:33out. And we and of course she had 24
- 3:37hour labor and then and then they put Logan into cardiac
- 3:41arrest. So they try to take it, you
- 3:44know, not to be graphic Logan, but they try to take it
- 3:46vaginally and I'm in the room and he's not coming out.
- 3:49He's not coming out. And so they put him into cardiac
- 3:53arrest. So they prep the surgery room
- 3:55and so and so I remember that first moment.
- 3:59It's really weird. It's so weird because in when he
- 4:01cried, then I knew he was there. You know he like he's here, he's
- 4:04here. That is a traumatic, scary story
- 4:07that you are describing, you know, knowing that your baby's
- 4:11life is at risk and it's mere minutes that we have to get into
- 4:15the OR and get this baby out kind of thing.
- 4:18And they did and they, and they, they scrubbed me up and put
- 4:20scrubs on and, and I did not, I did not look over the curtain.
- 4:24I had no desire to look at. No, I have, no, I had no desire
- 4:27to look over the curtain when they're, you know, doing what
- 4:29they have to do for the C-section, but I do.
- 4:32The funny thing is, I do recall that I was the first person to
- 4:36hold him, Zoe, because the doctor passed him to me first
- 4:38and then, and then she got to hold him for a second or she's
- 4:41not, can't really hold him because they put her next to
- 4:43him. They put him next to her, you
- 4:45know, for just a second. And then the nurse started.
- 4:48The nurse was coming to get him and I would not let the nurse
- 4:52take the baby. And so.
- 4:53So she had to go, she had to go, Sir, Sir, I have to take the
- 4:57baby. And I said I will walk you where
- 5:00we're taking the baby. And so, yeah, so I, so I walked
- 5:04Logan all the way out of the the OR and all the way towards to
- 5:07the nursery or whatever. And then they finally did take
- 5:09him from me. But and then the most amazing
- 5:12thing, of course, having a 10 LB baby was they were all the, they
- 5:16were all the new babies out there.
- 5:17And so you see the little, you see the, the pink blankets, you
- 5:21see the blue blankets, you know, so you know who your baby is.
- 5:23And there's my tank, there's my tank sitting out there.
- 5:26And one, and one of the obstetricians rolled up and was
- 5:30checking out the new babies and, and he literally goes to go, I
- 5:32want that big one. So and and there and there's
- 5:37something to be said for you already know for having a big
- 5:39baby if you you because when they're really tiny, I was a 4
- 5:43LB baby. I was a 4 LB baby.
- 5:44I can't imagine that, but. Shaylee was 2 1/2 months early,
- 5:48so she was 3 LB one ounce. Right, so, right.
- 5:51So there's a so, so your grandbaby is how many?
- 5:53I mean, are you allowed to see how heavy are you know?
- 5:56So I mean, I would rather not, but I mean, she's, she's the
- 6:01average weight that most babies are.
- 6:03So, so average weight and then you add 4 or 5 lbs on that's a
- 6:07big you know that Logan, and it is AI think a a bigger baby, I
- 6:14guess. You know, you're just not It's
- 6:17funny. It's almost like having a toy
- 6:18doll because because he was doing things at an age because
- 6:24he was just bigger that like sitting, sitting up in different
- 6:27things. He was just stronger.
- 6:29So you weren't you weren't so afraid, afraid to drop him or
- 6:32hurt him basically. So sorry, you know, sorry Logan,
- 6:35but. He was more advanced.
- 6:36Well, I don't know if it was advanced.
- 6:39It's just you could just see like by the time, by the time he
- 6:42was three months, of course we did the whole gauntlet of up
- 6:46until he was like a couple years old, every month there was there
- 6:49was new photos. And Pokey was so much about the
- 6:53baby that it was not just taking photos, it was Sears.
- 6:57Oh yes, my kids remember Sears and the the big plastic numbers.
- 7:02They still talk about that to this day, right.
- 7:04You go take pictures and it taking hours when you have to
- 7:08pick out which pictures you want and oh.
- 7:11Yeah, and all of that. And then suddenly after like 2
- 7:13years, it just drops off. You just quit going.
- 7:17Or like once you start adding more children to the picture.
- 7:22I only have, I only have, I have, I have the one.
- 7:24And then Kyron was, you know, already five years old when I
- 7:27met Kyron. But yeah, for Logan, but his mom
- 7:30like that. So up until like a certain
- 7:32point, there was like, oh, there's almost monthly photos
- 7:35and then suddenly there's none for like 10 years.
- 7:37Right and it's funny with the first kid you're everything has
- 7:41to be clean. They can't play in the dirt,
- 7:43they can't this and they can't that, and by the second one
- 7:46you're eat some dirt. And the fourth one for you, so
- 7:50you could even have 4:00. So that.
- 7:51Yeah, well. She again was preemie and she
- 7:54was the only one out of all four that were preemies.
- 7:56So that was a whole new experience.
- 8:00Well, I know in itself. I I think it was interesting
- 8:03too. Was that pokey?
- 8:04Even though we didn't have a lot of money, She went out in
- 8:07Boston, bought the best things for for Logan.
- 8:10So a great example is she went and bought like a high tech,
- 8:13high chair and a stroller. And the hilarity was he hated
- 8:17the stroller. Like he never used it once.
- 8:21He was in there for one time and that was the end of it.
- 8:23We had a crib. We had a crib for Logan.
- 8:26He never used it. And yeah, we were those bad
- 8:29parents that we just wanted to get sleep.
- 8:31So we let him sleep in the bed. But and they're like, oh, you're
- 8:33going to roll over on that baby. And I'm like, look at that baby.
- 8:36You think we're going to roll over on that?
- 8:39Not rolling over on this. And so, and so it was one of
- 8:43those, you know, when they oh, let the let the baby cry.
- 8:46Oh, no, no, no. I.
- 8:47Know that that old adage or I don't even know where, what,
- 8:52where that started from or what, what it would technically be
- 8:55called. But in my mind, you know, like
- 8:58my grandma and Jay's grandma tried to tell us the same thing.
- 9:02Like, oh, you just have to let them cry themselves to sleep.
- 9:05And I'm thinking your baby cries when it needs something.
- 9:09So obviously your baby is needing something.
- 9:11There's no reason that you just need to let your baby cry.
- 9:15Or this is the other one I hated.
- 9:17Don't spoil them by holding them all the time.
- 9:20Yeah, it's like, I'm sorry, they're tiny for only a short
- 9:23amount of time. I don't care if they get spoiled
- 9:25that I'm walking around the house holding them.
- 9:28I don't care, it made no sense to me.
- 9:31Yeah, I'm in your I'm in the same boat.
- 9:33I I smothered smothered Logan. It was funny when we when when
- 9:38Pokey had to pokey started cosmetology school and I was
- 9:41working at the radio station. The state was good enough to pay
- 9:45part of the the daycare. So he was able to go to day or
- 9:49pre pre daycare or daycare. And I remember that I dropped
- 9:53him off one time and then and I talked to the daycare provider
- 9:57and a couple weeks later Pokey came to me and goes, here's the
- 10:00deal. You cannot stay.
- 10:02You're supposed to drop him off. And she goes, you were there an
- 10:06hour and a half one time. And I and I was like, I was
- 10:09like, well, that's my, I was like, that's my kid.
- 10:12That's my kid. I'm gonna make sure that they're
- 10:14taking care of. My kid.
- 10:15But they're safe. Yeah, they are.
- 10:17They are safe. And the people there are taking
- 10:19good care I mean, now at least most daycares or places that
- 10:23watch your children have cameras.
- 10:25And so, yeah, they have they. Have cameras, but you can.
- 10:27Check in but. I was that dad asked to just
- 10:31drop off and not stay and chat with the the daycare providers
- 10:34and watch my SO. Basically, for an hour and a
- 10:36half I'd be babysitting my own kid at the daycare center.
- 10:39Right while you're paying the daycare.
- 10:41While I'm paying the daycare, so I would now I would, I would
- 10:46never say I was a helicopter parent.
- 10:48I was never a helicopter parent. I was just always when he was
- 10:51younger, I was just always around.
- 10:53What would would Logan say? Or, or weren't that helicopter?
- 10:57No, I don't think he would. I don't think he would.
- 11:02Which, Speaking of him, don't you?
- 11:03You have to say something. Okay, so I, I, I do have a
- 11:08question really quick. So I do.
- 11:10I do understand that my eyes, I know my eyes are brown all the
- 11:13way to the top. Yes.
- 11:15I mean, I am full of full of it. OK, I get.
- 11:17It we know, yeah. And.
- 11:19I've all, and sometimes I've been accused of exaggerating
- 11:22stories to make them interesting.
- 11:24But that's what we are supposed to.
- 11:25We are trained to do that on the radio.
- 11:27We have to do that. Why Regis Philbin used to talk
- 11:31about that, right? You know, on TV that you have to
- 11:33exaggerate a good story. You have to exaggerate.
- 11:36A little to make it to make it. Better, yes, so.
- 11:38To make it so on our last podcast, we were talking about
- 11:42the, the, the N word in songs and not having our kids sing
- 11:45those songs. And so Chiron had Fetty Wap and
- 11:48then Logan, he said he was upset at me saying that I, that I,
- 11:53that it makes him sound like he was a racist.
- 11:54And I'm like, no, you're not. And So what happened was I it's
- 11:57just. Singing the song and he, you
- 12:00know, especially he was younger, right, He'd not he.
- 12:03Doesn't recall that He doesn't recall Right?
- 12:05He doesn't recall but he said it wasn't high school.
- 12:08I said OK, well probably junior high.
- 12:10And he went through every Akon song looking for the N word and
- 12:13what what the song was. It was I never found it.
- 12:16So it might have been Neo. It was one of those songs.
- 12:19It did not. It got popped in for like 2
- 12:21seconds and he started to sing. That was the end of the story.
- 12:25He did not walk around using that language or any of that.
- 12:28So I just have to, I just have to publicly apologize and and he
- 12:32always is like, that's not how it happened, my guy.
- 12:35That's his big, that's his big thing now, my guy.
- 12:38Oh, don't ever call me bro. Like, you know how that is like
- 12:42the Gen. Z, They're calling each other
- 12:44bro. My niece tried to call me bro
- 12:46one time and I was like, uh, uh, no.
- 12:48I am your aunt, dude. No, don't ever call that bro my
- 12:52niece. Oh yeah.
- 12:54Because you know, everybody is bro.
- 12:55It's like bro, this bro, the bro, bro, bro, bro.
- 12:59And she, I don't know if she just did it, not thinking you
- 13:02just out of habit, but she was like bro.
- 13:03And I was like, no, no, I don't. I don't like it.
- 13:08I, I definitely, I'm definitely one of those parents from for
- 13:11Logan's Sake that I was never one of those parents where he
- 13:15got to call me by my first name. I'm Dad.
- 13:18Yes. Yes, yes, that was I remember,
- 13:20you know, because when they get to be a teenager, they get to be
- 13:22know about what 5 or 6 They they, they find out your real
- 13:26name and they try to call you by their real name.
- 13:29Yes, and I and I always shut them down and say no, I'm dad.
- 13:32I'm dad, which I knew that was the way to like, get at my mom.
- 13:37Oh yeah, I bet. What's your mom's first name?
- 13:41Crystal. Yeah.
- 13:43So I knew Crystal. Right.
- 13:44Exactly, Crystal. I'm surprised you survived.
- 13:49I'm surprised I did too. Surprised I did.
- 13:52Kids. Kids have been beaten for less.
- 13:55Than yes, Oh, yes. And I remember I was a teenager,
- 14:00which I was not a great teenager, but also look at what
- 14:03was happening in my life, which we talked about on past podcast.
- 14:07But I remember I don't even know what she did, but it made me
- 14:11mad. And I slammed my bedroom door.
- 14:14And as I was slamming it, I was like, you're such a bitch.
- 14:17And but I said it to allow like normally I would say it to her.
- 14:21She couldn't hear me and she heard it and she swung that door
- 14:26open so fast and she like slapped me.
- 14:29Oh, I will never, ever forget that.
- 14:32Yeah. I was probably, I would say like
- 14:3414-15 ish. Yeah.
- 14:36Around there and she didn't take the door off the hinges because
- 14:38that that was Kyra had a situation where we took the door
- 14:41off the hinges. So yes, because it kept slamming
- 14:46like no, that door is coming off the hinges.
- 14:48Stellar parenting right there. It's hey, parenting is hard.
- 14:55It is. You have to pick your battles.
- 14:57You got to pick your battles and there's no road map.
- 15:00There's no road map and, and so of course, and every try and
- 15:06it's, it's just every stage now I think I don't know about you.
- 15:09I know you've had four. So it might, so you might seem
- 15:12old school, but for me, I, I knew that I was only going to
- 15:15have my one in the night. And then of course, I got my
- 15:18bonus son Kyron. But at the time, when I was
- 15:21younger, I knew that, well, this is my 1.
- 15:23And so I just really enjoyed all the times.
- 15:26So you know your toddler years, you're, you know when they're 6.
- 15:29And I tried to enjoy all of it, even the teen years.
- 15:33And now I'm now I'm trying to enjoy the adult years.
- 15:36I think the adult years, I think the adult years are harder, are
- 15:40harder than the teen years were for the, for my, for my son and
- 15:45I so. Right, which I have a question
- 15:47about that after a little bit later in the podcast, but I did
- 15:51go see Fantastic Four over the weekend.
- 15:53Did you? Yeah.
- 15:54So did I. OK, so on.
- 15:56Thursday. Yeah, I saw it on Sunday.
- 16:00OK. And I drug my poor husband to go
- 16:03see it. He knows that I love Pedro
- 16:06Pascal. I went in not knowing anything
- 16:10about the Fantastic Four other than there's four of them and
- 16:12they have some kind of superpowers.
- 16:14I didn't know what their superpowers were.
- 16:16I didn't know like how they got their superpowers.
- 16:19Basically nothing about them other than Pedro Pascal is in
- 16:23this movie and I love him. So I went in.
- 16:26That's all I knew about this movie.
- 16:28So I liked it. I liked that it was set.
- 16:33Is it set in like the 60s? Yep.
- 16:36Is that yes? Well, it's kind of like it's
- 16:38kind of a throwback. It's, it's actually, I think
- 16:40that the point is it's modern day, but it's modern day 60s.
- 16:44OK. On this, on this particular
- 16:46earth, on this particular earth. Right, I liked the retro 60s
- 16:51vibe of it, but with the technology like what you said.
- 16:55And keep in mind my review of this movie is clouded because I
- 17:00do love Pedro Pascal. So you know, just be advised of
- 17:03that as we're talking about this.
- 17:05Herbie stole the show. I do have to say he was
- 17:08adorable. He is at Disneyland.
- 17:11I did see a Disney influencer post because I follow a whole
- 17:15bunch of them, posted a video and he's at Disneyland with the
- 17:19Fantastic Four. I, I loved that there was a, a
- 17:23baby like a, a superhero. Well, a baby, I won't say
- 17:28superhero because now I'm going to give some of it away.
- 17:30But yeah, I love the aspect of the baby and the Pedro Pascal's
- 17:39character and trying to figure out if the baby is going to have
- 17:44superpowers, is it going to be OK?
- 17:46Which as first time parents, we relate to that because our worry
- 17:51is are they going to be healthy? You know, we got to keep them
- 17:53safe. We got to keep them from
- 17:54hurting. That's pretty standard first
- 17:57parent stuff. So I really love to that because
- 17:59it really hits home with all of us.
- 18:02I thought the storyline was good.
- 18:03Again, I have not read any of the comics.
- 18:06I know nothing about them other than there's four of them.
- 18:11That's really all I knew going into this and I don't want to
- 18:14spoil a whole bunch of it. So my husband, as we're watching
- 18:18this movie, he leans over to me and he's like, so and so is kind
- 18:21of so and so. And I'm like, I cannot take you
- 18:25to no movies. Like he's the type nothing.
- 18:29He's the type of person that, OK, so we'll be watching a movie
- 18:34or a show and he'll have it figured out and he'll tell me.
- 18:38And then because he figured it out then now it's dumb.
- 18:43But if we watch a show like Paradise, which is specifically
- 18:46written so that you can't figure it out then which he can't
- 18:51figure it out once we watch that, then it's a dumb because
- 18:55he can't figure it out. Like I cannot win with this man.
- 18:59Like when we watch shows or movies, I'm like, sometimes I
- 19:03just want to watch this and not have to think about right, not
- 19:07have to analyze our thing. And I'm like, I just want to
- 19:10watch the Fantastic Four and watch Pedro Pascal.
- 19:12I don't want to be thinking about nothing else.
- 19:15And then my sister in law's husband, you know, they found
- 19:18out we were going to see this movie.
- 19:19And he's like, you know, I think, you know, Pedro Pascal's
- 19:23just been in too much stuff lately.
- 19:25Like I'm overseeing him everywhere.
- 19:27And I was like, no, no, he is Hollywood's current, current
- 19:31hitman. I mean, Brad Pitt was Tom Cruise
- 19:34was at one time. So that's my rant about all
- 19:38that. So yeah.
- 19:39Well, what do they what do they call that?
- 19:41Oversaturated or overexposed? Yes, but that happens.
- 19:46Like look at Brad Pitt. Look at he is like he's on fire
- 19:49right now and everybody wants him in everything.
- 19:52So. And women love him.
- 19:54He's adorable, He's nice, he's kind, he's thoughtful.
- 19:57Did you see him on the red carpet?
- 19:58He was helping his sister Lux with her dress Like that to US
- 20:02women is like, oh. My gosh, we.
- 20:04Love that. And he's funny and he's
- 20:07handsome. Did I mention that I probably
- 20:09did? I don't know.
- 20:10I did, I I just never, you know when.
- 20:14Gosh, from Alexander to Pedro, that's quite the.
- 20:16There am I too. I know they look, they look
- 20:18nothing alike, right They. Look like 1.
- 20:22I don't see Pedro being like I. Don't have a type, I guess.
- 20:24I don't know. He's like, you know, Alex is
- 20:26blonde and blue eyed and tall and Pedro is brown eyed, brown
- 20:31hair. I mean, he looks like his advert
- 20:32type. I'll have to Google what his
- 20:34height is. I don't really know, but yeah.
- 20:37But I think it's more about who they are as people.
- 20:39Well, OPS well, well, he's very sensitive and and the movie, the
- 20:44movie was a lot of fun. So you never saw the Jessica
- 20:47Alba Fantastic Four movies in the mid 2000s?
- 20:50So no. OK.
- 20:50So you just weren't familiar going into it?
- 20:53Well, and I OK, I don't want to give anything away, but yeah, I
- 20:56have AI have a question. Who is the superhero that has
- 21:00the silver mask? You mean Silver Surfer one?
- 21:03No is there? Oh, Doctor Doom, he's the bad
- 21:05guy. OK.
- 21:07Doctor Doom's the bad guy. OK, because I didn't.
- 21:10Know their their main nemesis is Doctor Doom.
- 21:13That's all the way back. That's all the way back to.
- 21:15That's all the way back to the 60s.
- 21:19OK, Yeah. Because I would say that Darth
- 21:21Vader is Doctor Doom has been around since the early 60s and
- 21:27some would say Darth Vader is an an inspiration for George Lucas
- 21:32for Doctor Doom was for Darth Vader.
- 21:35So, and then if you're just curious, if you want to dig,
- 21:38have you ever seen the movie The, the cartoons, the
- 21:40Incredibles? The Disney movie The
- 21:42Incredibles. Pixar.
- 21:43The Incredibles. Yeah.
- 21:45That's that's who they're based on.
- 21:47Jack, Jack, Jack is based on Franklin Richards.
- 21:51So, yeah, so, so there you go. So, yeah, The Incredibles.
- 21:54Yeah, The Incredibles got the Fantastic Four right before the
- 21:58Fantastic Four got it right. OK, OK.
- 22:01OK, well, credibles are inspired by the Incredibles, were
- 22:04inspired by the Fantastic Four. OK, good to know the back story
- 22:07again. I knew nothing about them.
- 22:09I. Didn't even know the wife
- 22:11stretches. The wife stretches.
- 22:13Yeah. So it's very similar.
- 22:15Yep. Yep, Yeah, yeah.
- 22:16When you said, when you said that, I was like, oh.
- 22:18Yeah, yeah, yeah, You could see that.
- 22:20No, it was fun. It was fun.
- 22:22Enjoyed it. It's out of my own.
- 22:26I would like to see DC actually get an So there's two, there's 2
- 22:29comic book companies, Maine, there's a lot of comic book
- 22:32companies, but the two main comic book companies are DC and
- 22:35Marvel. So just remember it's easy for
- 22:37DC, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, OK.
- 22:41And then when you're looking at Marvel, it's the X-Men,
- 22:44Deadpool, Wolverine, all those guys.
- 22:46So it was really nice to see Superman get it a win against
- 22:52Marvel for once, because Marvel has released 37 Movies Now of
- 22:55the. They have so many characters,
- 22:58right they. Have more yeah.
- 23:00So does DC, but just DC has not been able to get that volume.
- 23:04So yeah, DC, DC has those because DC has the Flash,
- 23:08Aquaman, Green Lantern, yet they have a bunch of characters.
- 23:10They both the companies have thousands of characters, but but
- 23:15it's just nice to see that Superman right now they're neck
- 23:18and neck, but it's interesting. I've been talking a lot about
- 23:21I'm a huge, you already know, huge superhero fan, just huge.
- 23:24My entire my entire man cave is nothing but superheroes and I'm
- 23:28burnt out on superheroes. There's so much of it, superhero
- 23:31fatigue, and I think we're seeing that at the movies where
- 23:35everybody wants a billion dollar movie.
- 23:38And that's not going to happen anymore.
- 23:40Though no, because streaming I in my I think, I think superhero
- 23:43fatigue and I think streaming has really.
- 23:46And they're like, what about Jurassic Park?
- 23:48Well, that's dinosaurs. Dinosaurs are universal and
- 23:51especially overseas because they've got King Kong, they've
- 23:54got Godzilla, they love all that.
- 23:55So it's so it's interesting. So it's nice to see Superman be
- 23:59a little bit ahead of fantastic for both of the movies had
- 24:01excellent reviews and excellent, you know, audience scores.
- 24:05So, so that means you're going to watch The Avengers when it
- 24:08comes out with Pedro, because Pedro's going to be in that one.
- 24:10Yes, which I guess, yeah, which I saw him talking.
- 24:13He was on one of the talk show, I don't know, promoting this
- 24:16movie. And they were talking about how
- 24:17they have to go right into filming the next Avengers movie
- 24:21that they all for are going to be in now.
- 24:23Like, oh, oh, my ears perked up. I ought to go see that movie.
- 24:26So. You got to go see that.
- 24:27Yeah. So.
- 24:29Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I did 1010 for me, but you know,
- 24:33again, judgement is completely clouded.
- 24:36Do not go off of anything that I've.
- 24:38Got to say, I'm going to give. I'm going to give it an 8 out of
- 24:4110 and I'm going to give. Super high.
- 24:43I'm going to give Superman an 8.5 out of 10 so.
- 24:46OK. So they're clever neck there for
- 24:48me. They're both neck and neck.
- 24:50OK, OK, OK, let's let's go back to this question that I have for
- 24:54you since we were talking about kids.
- 24:56So is it different for moms when it comes to your adult kids
- 25:03reconnecting with an ex than it is with dad?
- 25:07And I'll explain. So like as moms, we hold grudges
- 25:12like nobody's business, especially just someone who's
- 25:17done something to our kids. And I wasn't sure if guys are
- 25:21the same. So Jackson told me that his ex
- 25:27reached out and this was his first real relationship.
- 25:33They broke up I think this was around like 2 years ago and he.
- 25:40Anyway, he said that they had coffee and of course, my first
- 25:45mom, grizzly bear feelings kicked in and I had to just OK,
- 25:51like in my head, be like, OK, don't say out loud or scream out
- 25:57loud. Absolutely not.
- 25:58Because that's what's going through my head at that time.
- 26:02Absolutely not. You're not getting back
- 26:04together. I'm completely jumping to
- 26:06conclusions at this point. They just met for coffee after
- 26:10not speaking to each other for two years.
- 26:12But in my mind, that's where I completely jumped to.
- 26:15And for me, it's like, no, you're not getting back
- 26:19together. That's off the table.
- 26:21But again, that's just me in my head and I'll give you another
- 26:26example, Shaylee of me being like overprotective crazy.
- 26:31Shaylee had this group of girlfriends in school and they
- 26:36were all pretty close. And she had PE with one of the
- 26:40girls and they would walk around the track.
- 26:43That was one of the options they could do during PE.
- 26:45So her and this other girl that was part of their friend group
- 26:48would walk around the track and the other girl is super quiet,
- 26:53kind of, I mean, Shaylee is too. And so to fill that silence,
- 26:58Shaylee would talk. And then Shaylee found out and
- 27:02that that girl was telling another girl in the friend group
- 27:04that Shaylee talks about herself.
- 27:06And then they were talking bad about Shaylee and their other
- 27:09friend and their friend group overheard it and told Shaylee.
- 27:12And of course me being overprotective crazy grizzly
- 27:16bear mom, I freaked out and I wanted to call up these girls or
- 27:21whatever and yell at them and Shaylee's like please don't do
- 27:24that. Just wait till we graduate high
- 27:27school. So they have graduated and I
- 27:30have not ran into these girls, but by God if I do I will give
- 27:33them a piece of my mind about that because it was just it was
- 27:37shitty and not really it wasn't called for at all.
- 27:40I don't I don't understand it. But girls are super catty like
- 27:44that. But that's a different topic we
- 27:46can talk about, so I'm just wanting to.
- 27:48Do. Guys, Yeah, yes.
- 27:52How horrible we are to each other.
- 27:54That's a whole another when we should be like supporting each
- 27:57other, but that's a whole another topic.
- 27:59So am I just the crazy overprotective grizzly bear mom,
- 28:04or is that something like guys would think too?
- 28:08I don't. I don't know.
- 28:10You're telling me? Like, I mean, we we want the
- 28:14like any parent, we want the best for our kids.
- 28:15We probably not be as vocal as the Mama bear, you know, but we
- 28:19can definitely go Papa bear. But I'm also this is this is the
- 28:24tough one for you, Michelle. And it's like you have got to
- 28:29let them fall down, scrape their knees a little bit.
- 28:32And we, we've all, at least I don't know about you, Michelle,
- 28:37I know you've been married a very long time, but I became
- 28:40very ill many years ago and made a ton of wrong decisions.
- 28:44I just just just, and, and it comes from my childhood trauma.
- 28:49I know we haven't unpacked any of that, but it's so funny.
- 28:54When I was in high school, we coined the term for it.
- 28:57We coined it, we called it the sickness and so on.
- 29:01And so it's only happened to me a few times in my life and it is
- 29:07the worst place I could ever be When I get this sickness and and
- 29:11it's like, it's like a a salmon trying to spawn.
- 29:15It's like I would no, it is it. I would rather kill myself.
- 29:18You, you. You've seen me with the
- 29:20sickness, Michelle. I have yes, but I would I
- 29:23wouldn't describe it like that but.
- 29:26Well, it, it's like, you know, as our, as our old boss Cheryl
- 29:31used to say, you know, all you have to do is, is be honest with
- 29:35Rick, tell, tell him yes or no period.
- 29:38And then and then she's like, and then she goes and he's
- 29:40coming and, and you've seen that not just, it's not just in my
- 29:44relationships or my personal stuff when it comes to goals,
- 29:48when it comes to achieving stuff, it's like, if it gets
- 29:53Askew, it's horrific because I'll destroy it.
- 29:55It's like a nuclear bomb going off.
- 29:57Now, if it's pointed the right way, you can't.
- 29:59If, if it's a, you know, like, like it's a goal of like, oh, I
- 30:03want to save whatever it is, I want to save $5000, I will, you
- 30:06know, you know me, I will do it. You know, as Mike used to say,
- 30:10if I say something, oh, he's going to do it, he'll do it.
- 30:13It's I've never been, never been one of those people that's once
- 30:18I make a decision, guess what? I'm, I'm all in.
- 30:22And so it's tough when you see your kids go through those
- 30:25things. And so Logan, here we go.
- 30:28Logan. Sorry, Logan, his.
- 30:30Very first album, his No Hope, very first album, The Story of
- 30:34You is written about a girl. The all the cuts are about a
- 30:39girl and you can go and here, here you go Logan.
- 30:41You can get it on Amazon. It's on Spotify.
- 30:44The album The Artist is No Hope and then the album is The Story
- 30:48of You. All 7 songs chronologically
- 30:52describe his relationship from the infatuation to the middle of
- 30:57it to the breakup, you know, to the to the recovery of it.
- 31:02So that was his way of getting that was his way of getting.
- 31:06I don't know that that angst out.
- 31:09One of the things I this is also one of the cool things that
- 31:13here's a cool story about Logan is this is where you let kids do
- 31:17what they're going to do is Logan when he was 14, he loved
- 31:20Guitar Hero. That was his thing.
- 31:22And of course, like most naysayers, they always go, well,
- 31:26that's not playing real guitar. Right.
- 31:28So, so Logan wanted a guitar for his 14th birthday or no, for
- 31:33Christmas. So we got, I got him a guitar
- 31:35and that thing sat in the corner for two years now.
- 31:37I never mentioned it to him. It just sat in the corner.
- 31:40And then interesting enough was he was part of a talent show
- 31:45when he was I think a junior or a sophomore and he did this
- 31:49Green Day song and he didn't play guitar.
- 31:51He just went out and sang. It was part of this band.
- 31:54Well, I discovered later that the band had kicked him out of
- 31:58the band. So, so there is a little bit of
- 32:04dad in there because guess when he did it on his own.
- 32:07So guess what? He picked up, picked up that
- 32:09guitar, picked up that guitar, he goes, I'll do my own band.
- 32:13And and then of course, this girl came along and that was a
- 32:16big mess. And so all these songs were
- 32:18about this girl. So and then there was times he
- 32:22would, he would say, oh, yeah, I'm back.
- 32:24I'm, you know, we're seeing each other or we're back together.
- 32:26I'm like, oh, Jase, here we go. And it always ended.
- 32:31Now he's now he's and I just want you to know just real
- 32:33quick, eight years he's been with the same girlfriend.
- 32:36He's absolutely head over hills in love, which is awesome.
- 32:39But it was funny going through those mountains and those
- 32:42valleys because you know what a bad influence, Michelle, you
- 32:46have to wait. I don't know much about your
- 32:49dating life before Jay cuz you've been married to Jay for a
- 32:52long time, but there had to been some bad influences in there.
- 32:56They're like, I don't need that. That's like, that's like crack
- 32:59cocaine, but you don't. But you keep going back.
- 33:03And tell you. Until you until you eventually
- 33:05learn, then you have to stop it. Like like like I'm not going to
- 33:11do that. And that's when and that's when
- 33:12behavior changes. But that's with anything that's
- 33:15with weight loss, that's with I want a new job, all these
- 33:18different things. So it's hard not being the Papa
- 33:20bear. It's especially when someone
- 33:23says like you're talking about the Mean Girls thing, like that
- 33:29would be super hard. I, I don't know, I, I, I who I,
- 33:36I, I've but remember, I'm still a very emotional person too.
- 33:39So to me it's like, you know, great.
- 33:42And you touch my kid I'll kick the shit out of.
- 33:44You and I don't know. Yes.
- 33:45And I don't know if it's a different, like with sons and
- 33:48daughters. I mean, because I feel like I
- 33:50react the same way with all of them.
- 33:52Like, you know, dramatic. Everything's horrible or you're
- 33:57gonna take care of this myself. Well, I think it I'm going to go
- 34:01to the playground and kick the shit out of those girls.
- 34:03On the situation, so a great example, there's there's 22
- 34:07stories, funny thing, two stories in my book that are
- 34:11definitely from Mama bear, my, my foster mom.
- 34:14One was when I was six or seven. I was so enamored with
- 34:17superheroes at the time that I came home one day and I was beat
- 34:20up like I was bloody and not because I didn't stick up for
- 34:24myself, but because a kid three times the size of me got into a
- 34:29fight with me. So the bus pulled up and my
- 34:32foster mom got on the bus and went to that little kid and and
- 34:36literally said, you ever touch him again?
- 34:39I'll end you. Well, I'll say the word.
- 34:41She said I'll F and kill you. So she got on the bus and then
- 34:45and then she did ask the little boy he was three times.
- 34:47He was like 3 grades above me and three times my size.
- 34:50It wasn't that I didn't fight him.
- 34:52It wasn't a fair fight at all. It.
- 34:54Wasn't a fair fight. And so she said, and that's why
- 34:56she interfered in that. And she had said that the kid
- 34:59said, because I said, well, I'm Superman, you can't hurt me.
- 35:03And then the boy was like, well, yeah, I can.
- 35:08Kids are kids are assholes. Kids are assholes.
- 35:11But on the flip side, there's another story that's in the book
- 35:15about my foster mom. She was doing the dishes and
- 35:17there was a little boy that lived up on the on the hill,
- 35:19same age as me, same age as me. Little boy lived up on the hill.
- 35:23He'd come down and he would pick on me and he'd pick on me and,
- 35:27and, and, and harass me. And she saw this from the window
- 35:30one day and she's washing the dishes.
- 35:32So when she saw me, she, she pulled me aside and said, OK,
- 35:35Virgil, next time he comes down and picks on you, he goes,
- 35:38you're going to hit him. And I said, well, mom, I can't
- 35:40do that. And she's like, no, you're going
- 35:42to hit him. And I said, I can't do it.
- 35:44And she goes, OK, here's the deal, Virgil, you're either
- 35:46going to hit him or I'm going to give you something to cry about.
- 35:49So so so anyway, this little boy comes down to pick on me and
- 35:55she's out there again and it's so funny.
- 35:58It's in the book and and he starts picking on me.
- 36:00So guess what I do? I just pop him and guess what he
- 36:05guess who went down? Picked on you again, probably.
- 36:08After never picked on me again, dropped him like a sack of
- 36:10potatoes. Now I will tell you, and it's
- 36:12even in the book. I've been in very few fights in
- 36:14my life. You know, one I can say that I
- 36:17won, he won. I got my ass kicked.
- 36:19Who was that one? That's the one.
- 36:21He. Wanted so so 8th grade, 8th
- 36:23grade. So I talk a lot about in the
- 36:26book how a lot of my confidence confidence was taken away when
- 36:29we moved in with the Wallaces. They took my confidence.
- 36:32All that my mom had given me or all the lessons she had given me
- 36:36was stripped away. So in junior high, as you
- 36:38already know, is the worst. Oh yeah, it's horrible in a
- 36:42functioning family environment. It was interesting to go from
- 36:46for me first through 4th grade, I went to a Soton elementary and
- 36:50I was, I was a popular kid or I was not AI was not a disliked
- 36:53kid. I wasn't, I wasn't the, the
- 36:55scummy kid. I wasn't the geeky kid or any of
- 36:57that. I was actually fairly popular in
- 36:59elementary school. And then we moved and and then
- 37:04went to junior high. You're the first kid in in 6th
- 37:05grade. And and then I'm with the
- 37:08Wallaces, all the abuse and, and tearing up that apart.
- 37:11So people. And then I got to junior high
- 37:13and virgin, virgin was the big thing.
- 37:15Virgin Virgil, virgin is being called.
- 37:18Yeah, Yeah. So that was all the way for
- 37:21three years. And I wouldn't fight.
- 37:23I wouldn't fight. And I was so mad at myself
- 37:26because that wasn't what I was taught.
- 37:28And I remember one time going to school in 7th grade and I ended
- 37:31up marrying. I ended up marrying his sister,
- 37:34but Pokey's brother, his name was Jerry Jobe.
- 37:37He was a he's a bully, just a bully.
- 37:39No, he's just a bully, just a bully.
- 37:41Now this is before I ever knew Pokey, before I ever knew Pokey.
- 37:44But we were walking to school in 7th grade and I had my sister
- 37:46Robin with me. And they just come up to me and
- 37:49they start a fight and I'm like, and I'm like, I'll take both of
- 37:51you right now. And I dropped my books like I'll
- 37:53take you both down. And Robin's like don't do it.
- 37:55Don't do it. And so I didn't fight.
- 37:57To this day, to this day I'm I hate myself because.
- 38:02I wouldn't have listened to your sister.
- 38:04I should never listen to my sister.
- 38:06So the next year over, I'm walking.
- 38:08We're her and I are walking to home from school and this kid
- 38:10comes up, comes up on me. And I won't give you his name.
- 38:14I won't. Yeah.
- 38:15I mean, his name was Jeff. I can even tell you his last
- 38:17name. And he's like virgin, virgin,
- 38:19virgin. Virgil.
- 38:20Virgil. And just, you know, come on and
- 38:22go. Come on, pussy.
- 38:23Let's fight. Come on, pussy.
- 38:24Finally, I had enough. It was eighth grade.
- 38:28Dropped the book, turned around and he goes, come on, man.
- 38:31Threw the first punch. Well, you bet I did.
- 38:34You know what I'm saying? And I, I, I all that rage, all
- 38:39that rage of three years. Yeah, it was like.
- 38:42And so the next day I saw that Jeff kid.
- 38:44He saw me at the bus stop. He goes, he goes, yeah, I'm not
- 38:47going to pick on you anymore. Because he realized I, I, I'd
- 38:50fight back. And then, and then in high
- 38:51school, some other kid got his name was Guy Gas went for some
- 38:55reason. He, we were, we were friends in
- 38:577th grade. He came back to the high school.
- 39:00He'd been gone from junior high and all that.
- 39:02And I don't know why he wanted to pick on me, but he would come
- 39:05up, he literally physically hit me and kick me.
- 39:08And so I, it went on for a few months and then finally I said,
- 39:12Hey, man, I'll meet you outside. And, and so, and this is in the
- 39:17book. So we met him.
- 39:18I met him outside in the park and he goes, come on, man.
- 39:22So of course he's bigger than me.
- 39:23They're all, they're always bigger than me.
- 39:25They're always. Bigger than me.
- 39:26And so and so he's three times the size of me.
- 39:29So I take that first punch and it surprised him.
- 39:33It shocked him because I got a good one in.
- 39:35But that was the last punch the. One that only punch you got.
- 39:40It cuz cuz down I went and as I and after the fight, I asked my
- 39:44friends, we're walking home. I'm like, hey, did I did I did I
- 39:47look good down there And they go, yeah, you looked good.
- 39:49You look good. You know, you look you, you were
- 39:52doing OK. I'm, you know, the principal
- 39:57came and broke up the fight and and then he got expelled and got
- 40:02Yeah, but but I, I always ask that question.
- 40:04How did I how did I look down there?
- 40:06How did I look? Go man, Virgil, you look great.
- 40:08You look good. You know, yeah.
- 40:10You look like you were taking it pretty good, but but I don't
- 40:14know, have you ever been, have you ever been in a physical
- 40:15fight? No, I have been bullied and
- 40:18picked on by girls horribly but luckily we haven't actually gone
- 40:23to blows. So, so the good news, I will
- 40:27tell you this, haven't, you know, trust me, I don't want, I
- 40:29don't like to fight. I don't want to fight.
- 40:30I will fight if I have to. But you physically, when you're
- 40:33doing it, you really don't feel it because you're adrenaline.
- 40:36No, right. I was going to say you're
- 40:37adrenaline. It's probably like.
- 40:39Yeah, yeah, Now they they can be doing some serious, you feel it
- 40:43the next day, but you don't feel it when you're in when you're in
- 40:45the fight, because it's basically survival.
- 40:47You're trying to survive in the fight.
- 40:49And so and so, yeah, so there's a couple instances where it's
- 40:54like that I've had to defend myself and and again, I, I
- 40:59always told my I've always told Logan, or even if even I was
- 41:02talking to Kyron, It's like I take I'm sorry.
- 41:05I take Pearl's wisdom, who you want to fight, take, take that,
- 41:10hit him, drop him like cuz I cuz that's what they want.
- 41:13They want, they want, they want to throw the first punch and
- 41:15they look like, they look like the bad guy, right?
- 41:18Right. So when they.
- 41:19So when they don't. Yeah.
- 41:20So when they don't leave you alone, if you.
- 41:23I mean, I look back all the times in junior high, there was
- 41:26a kid named Jason Twistleton. It was eighth grade.
- 41:30And he used to kick me in PE class because.
- 41:33Because they make you sit in a row.
- 41:34Remember when they say make you sit Indian style in a row?
- 41:36Yes. You know, and he would sit there
- 41:39behind me and kick me and one time he kicked me and I got up
- 41:43and I just left. I just left the class.
- 41:44I'm like, I'm not gonna I to this day.
- 41:48And I've seen him on Facebook. I have no desire to start
- 41:51anything up. But but I've always made a
- 41:54promise that if that if I ever cross that kids path again, now,
- 41:58now, just if it makes people feel better, he's a total
- 42:01douche. Like like on his.
- 42:02Face usually the bullies do grow up to you're still be asses.
- 42:08Well, you don't, Yeah. You peak in high school.
- 42:10I mean, that's it. You peak in high school, You're.
- 42:13The star quarterback in high school, and that's it.
- 42:16Right, Right. Yeah, You've already.
- 42:18Yeah, Your peak years are done. The best part is they usually
- 42:22have A at our age. The best part is they usually
- 42:25have a big old beer gut and they've and they're balding and
- 42:28they're balding. Oh, they're balding.
- 42:30And what's so interesting when you run into them later, Not
- 42:32that not that being on the radio is any great thing, but it's
- 42:34amazing going back to reunions, how differently treat you
- 42:37because like, oh, oh, you've met, you've met all these stars
- 42:40and you're on the radio. I mean, it's a totally different
- 42:43thing than it was coming out of high.
- 42:45I mean, I'm sure they say the same thing about you too.
- 42:47Yes, and when I I want was I on the bull shoot?
- 42:52I don't remember. I think so, but I was doing a
- 42:54remote somewhere and one of the popular girls in school that
- 42:58used to be mean to me and bully me.
- 43:02We've talked about in the past episode we use different last
- 43:05names. So she didn't, you know,
- 43:07correlate who I was by listening to me on the radio as who I was
- 43:12that she went to school with. And she stopped and was like, Oh
- 43:15my gosh, you're so and so from high school.
- 43:19And she was so nice to me. And it was all I could do.
- 43:23I'm in this capacity at work again.
- 43:26So I couldn't be like a mean or rude to her.
- 43:29And it took everything in me not to be like, yeah, you're a
- 43:32fucking bitch to me in school. But I was just like, you know,
- 43:37playing the game that you have to play, so.
- 43:39I think the reality is most of the people that I've ever come
- 43:42across never realize that they did that.
- 43:47Most people, most people have long forgotten they had, they
- 43:50did not realize that they treated you bad or, or any of
- 43:53those situations. Because I've had nothing but
- 43:55great experiences at high school reunions, you know, people
- 43:58walking up and, but, and then the, the, the real bullies, they
- 44:02just never, they just never show up.
- 44:04I will tell you this will not, I'm probably going to get a lot
- 44:08of crap on this, but I'm going to tell you a little story and,
- 44:11and, and you can say shame on me or how dare I.
- 44:14But there was a kid and I will not say his name because I have
- 44:17a lot of classmates listening. They'll know who it is.
- 44:20But there was a mean kid. He was mean.
- 44:22He was flat out mean. And we had this thing at
- 44:25Clarkson High School called the senior ramp.
- 44:27And so the, the, The thing is, you never, the seniors would sit
- 44:30on both sides of the ramp and all the, all the students had to
- 44:33go down this ramp to get to their classes.
- 44:35And so they took great joy in tripping other kids, you know,
- 44:39And that was the. Point like the high school
- 44:40initiation ship that we used to have to go through that is now
- 44:43illegal, thank goodness. Right, right.
- 44:45So they'd sit and trip kids. Well, there was one guy, he was
- 44:47just the biggest bully all the way through our school.
- 44:49He was just a big bully. Now, he never necessarily
- 44:52bullied me, but but I had a friend of mine named Greg that
- 44:56he was just walking down the the senior ramp one day and this
- 44:59bully just point blank just hit him like full force fist.
- 45:04And Greg, I couldn't believe it. Greg took the punch, looked at
- 45:07him without missing a beat and goes, you ever do that again?
- 45:10I'll fucking kill you. And he I mean, and this one and
- 45:13and at the time, you know, you would consider Greg to be one of
- 45:16the geeks or nerds, you know what I'm saying?
- 45:18And to take a punch from one of the biggest bullies in school
- 45:20and not flinch. No, he didn't even flinch.
- 45:23I'm like, we heard that one. Oh my gosh.
- 45:26So years later I'm at a 4th of July event in Clarkston and one
- 45:30of my old classmates walks up and goes, Oh my gosh, did you
- 45:32hear what happened to da da da da?
- 45:33And I said, what do you mean? And they go, oh, well, a few
- 45:36years back they, they wrapped themselves around a telephone
- 45:39pole. Not not Greg.
- 45:41The bully wrapped himself around telephone pole and now they are
- 45:44paraplegic from their neck down. Oh my goodness.
- 45:48And and the classmate goes, man, don't, don't you feel bad?
- 45:51And I went no. That's karma.
- 45:54I no, I know. And they go and they go, yeah,
- 45:57they go. How can you say that?
- 45:59And I said this person was the biggest bully to all the nerds
- 46:01and geeks. And I'm not going to feel, I'm
- 46:04not going to feel any remorse for this person doing this to
- 46:07themselves. So I am going to withhold the
- 46:09names because I know that. And then I may have some
- 46:12classmates mad at me because they'll know exactly what I'm
- 46:14talking about. He was a bully.
- 46:16He was a terror. So now this is when I said that
- 46:20that was probably 30 years ago. So I probably don't feel the
- 46:22same because I know I've caught, I've gone back to some reunions
- 46:26where they said, oh, he wants to come da, da, da, da, but he
- 46:28does. But he's afraid of what he looks
- 46:32like or people to see him the way he is.
- 46:36And I'm saying, so to me, I'm like, there's at 55.
- 46:39Hey, bygones are bygones. I mean, I mean, life's too
- 46:43short. I just want to, you know, tell
- 46:45everybody life's too short. And, and if he came back to the
- 46:49reunion, I would be nothing but and I, I, well, I, I probably
- 46:51wouldn't talk to him because I, I didn't know, I really didn't
- 46:54know him anyway. But talk about some crazy.
- 46:57So Mama bear, I mean, you could take you could you can, you
- 47:01know, Tonya Hardy and these girls with a pipe?
- 47:06But it's like, I just feel kids have, I mean, boy, that's tough,
- 47:09especially with the bad relationships.
- 47:11Well, and you know, Jackson isn't a kid, he's an adult, you
- 47:14know? You got to let them fall down.
- 47:16It's well, I remember years ago, and we don't have to go deep
- 47:20into this. Matthew had a young man that
- 47:23was, you know, not the best for Matthew.
- 47:26Right. And that was kind of his first
- 47:28relationship too, and that. Did that not take some time to?
- 47:32That was a, that was a was that not a bouncing ball?
- 47:35That was really difficult because that person was abusive
- 47:39to him. And as the period you, you know,
- 47:42you can't really say much because you know, if you do,
- 47:45that's going to push your child away to the other person, right?
- 47:50And so we really, it took everything in me not to say
- 47:55something or it'd be like Matthew got the fuck away, you
- 47:59know, get out of this relationship.
- 48:00But. Because you're in it.
- 48:01You're in it. Yes, and until they see that and
- 48:04realize that, which he eventually did thankfully and
- 48:07got out and has not dated anyone like that since, thank God so.
- 48:13It's I. Think it's hard?
- 48:15Yeah. Well, especially when it's your
- 48:16own, especially, you know, when when your child's in a poisonous
- 48:19relationship or a bad relationship.
- 48:21And, you know, interesting enough, Kyron, my stepson was in
- 48:26a relationship for five years and he recently broke up with
- 48:29his girlfriend. No, recently broke up with a
- 48:30girlfriend. And it was, it was a rough go of
- 48:33it. Well, now he's got himself a new
- 48:36girlfriend. So it's amazing.
- 48:38And he's young. He's like 22 years old.
- 48:40Good for, you know, I mean, that's that, that's what those
- 48:42are the, those are the hills and valleys you go through.
- 48:45Yeah, you know, and you have to do it as an adult.
- 48:47I know. So it's tough.
- 48:49It's tough being Mama Bear and not being able to step in and
- 48:52go, hey, that that person's not the best for you because at the
- 48:55moment they're not going to want to hear it, especially when
- 48:57they're a teenager. Oh God yeah, then it's even
- 48:59twice as worse your eyes when you're.
- 49:01An adult, so all you can do is be there to pick up the pieces.
- 49:06If something goes bad again, you're there to pick up the
- 49:08pieces. Right, so you as the guy
- 49:11wouldn't freak out internally like I did.
- 49:14Or you. Or you.
- 49:14Would oh, I definitely talked behind their back 24/7 and
- 49:17talked to my spouse about it. And you know, it's like, just
- 49:20say I don't, I had, I don't like that person.
- 49:23I'm not crazy then that's what you're saying.
- 49:25You don't do those things and then and then you just watch
- 49:27their behavior to make sure that it doesn't happen happen again.
- 49:31So, I mean, and, and that some relationships are poison, some
- 49:36doing a superhero analogy. Some relationships are
- 49:38kryptonite. They are.
- 49:41They are. And you know, it's as I have
- 49:43learned, we've, we've joked about this.
- 49:46You, you would like to think that grass is greener on the
- 49:48other side. But my my terminology now is
- 49:50there's just dirt over there. Oh, that grass looks green.
- 49:54And then you get over the taxes dirt.
- 49:56Yeah. So, but but everybody's
- 49:59different. Every relationship's different.
- 50:00So I'll be curious to see how this one turns out for Jackson.
- 50:04Now, did you get getting updated?
- 50:05Did they already go? Yes, they did go to coffee.
- 50:08That's what he, you know, told me about he I didn't even know
- 50:12that they had. So the ex had reached out to him
- 50:17and I didn't know that I didn't know they had gone to coffee and
- 50:20I asked him, you know, well, how did it go?
- 50:22How? And, you know, he's like, well,
- 50:24they just kind of talked about themselves a lot.
- 50:27And the Jackson had always suspected that this person was
- 50:32already seeing someone else before they broke up.
- 50:36And I think that they kind of were at least like talking to
- 50:41them. And so he said that a lot of the
- 50:45time his ex was complaining about that person a lot.
- 50:49And so I asked Jackson, well, did they take accountability for
- 50:54anything in the relationship between the two of you that
- 50:58happened? Or was it all just blaming that
- 51:01person for everything that happened?
- 51:03And he's like, well, we didn't really.
- 51:05They didn't really touch on that too much because in my mind, I'm
- 51:08like, OK, if they're blaming this other person, then they are
- 51:12not seeing their part in the relationship or what happened,
- 51:17if that makes sense. And so I just wanted to make
- 51:19sure he would be able to see that.
- 51:23He said that that he's not sure if he's gonna stay friends with
- 51:27him. He said that it was weird.
- 51:31And so hopefully, hopefully that like, that's it.
- 51:35And it's like the Spark isn't gonna unite again.
- 51:39And we're gonna have to go. Through this all over again.
- 51:42The the biggest lesson, I think it's so funny about
- 51:45relationships is like, like you mentioned that one about Jackson
- 51:50and that situation when it's kind of interesting when people
- 51:54break up and they go and they go, it's me, it's not you.
- 51:57And then I always love that the relationships where like, you
- 52:00know, well, who is it? And they're like, no, it's
- 52:02nobody. It's nobody.
- 52:04I'm like, it's always somebody. Even if I don't care if even
- 52:08it's a little crush or a little whatever's going on, whatever's
- 52:12going on, it's like nobody. The rarity of somebody leaving
- 52:17somebody for nobody is slim to slim to zero.
- 52:21I'm always like, OK, as I've always made that.
- 52:24You're going to love it. Who's sniffing around my meat?
- 52:26You know, I'm sure you've heard me use that term before, right?
- 52:34It's. Like someone someone sniffing
- 52:38around mom meet and and you need to put.
- 52:40That on a T-shirt and. So who sniffing around mom meet
- 52:45So. So I had a situation that I can
- 52:48share with you really quick about a few years back, Megan.
- 52:54Yeah, I Megan's ex-boyfriend from high school.
- 52:58His name is Ethan and I call him Man Mountain.
- 53:00His name is Ethan and he's called Man Mountain.
- 53:02I remember you're talking about man.
- 53:06And he's about, I don't know, 6. So when you see this photo from
- 53:08high school, he's this massive dude.
- 53:10And then she's like 120, like 125 lbs.
- 53:13I'm like, and then he's so unlike me, like who I am, I'm
- 53:17like, well, what, how could she even correlate?
- 53:19Like, you know what I'm saying? Like, well, why would you be
- 53:21with me when that, you know, that's what, that's what you
- 53:24might have been attracted to. So, and she still keeps in
- 53:27contact with Ethan. Well, a few years back I saw her
- 53:30on her phone debited or she was on the like actually on the
- 53:33phone talking with him and I and I and I had to, I had to put, I
- 53:37had to put the big boy pants on and go, okay, don't say
- 53:41anything, right? Don't be jealous.
- 53:44Don't start something that you don't know anything about.
- 53:46But I mean, I heard them talking on the phone.
- 53:48I mean, I don't know what they're talking about.
- 53:50She, I mean, she's doing it with you there, though.
- 53:52It's not like she was doing it in secrecy though.
- 53:56No, she was in the other room or she's texting.
- 53:58I mean, it wasn't like she was in the same room as me, right?
- 54:00But you're in the same house together.
- 54:02I can hear her talking to somebody, right.
- 54:05And so, so the green, the green eyed monster comes on.
- 54:08And then the cool thing about it is a couple weeks later we're
- 54:10driving down the road and she goes, oh, by the way, you know,
- 54:13I, I've been talking to Ethan, blah, blah, blah.
- 54:16You know, so I let her say say her piece and then she said
- 54:20something like she goes never in a million years, whatever.
- 54:24I date him ever again. So I was like, I'm sitting the
- 54:27car going, that's right, bitches.
- 54:31Or is she? Just telling or is.
- 54:33She just telling you that to throw you off the scent.
- 54:36No, I'm kidding, you know, So I won't, I will not give you the
- 54:40reasons. I will say, OK, I will say one
- 54:43reason was they politically don't align like at all.
- 54:47Oh yeah, that. Like, like he's hardcore.
- 54:50Like. So far away from her viewpoints,
- 54:53right? There's no like she said no way.
- 54:55And then and then she said even from a physicality, you know,
- 54:58she goes now. She goes now, Rick, you say he's
- 55:00all duh, duh, duh, duh. Well, she goes.
- 55:02It's 3040 years later. Trust me, you know it's not.
- 55:07It's not muscle anymore. Right.
- 55:10Yeah. So I don't want to say much more
- 55:12than that because I don't get in trouble, but it's like, yeah,
- 55:15so. You're going to have everyone
- 55:16mad at you. Everybody's already mad at my
- 55:19stories anyway. And then and then Logan's like
- 55:21you're dropping names, man. You're dropping names.
- 55:23You're dropping real names. I'll.
- 55:24Do that too. Like stop saying names we're.
- 55:28Going to argue not you we're. Going to get sued by all these
- 55:32people. I know they are true stories, So
- 55:36what do they hope? So sue us.
- 55:37For I hope it is true. It's the truth.
- 55:42It's just our version of the truth or the story.
- 55:46So as. Well, as my foster mom told me,
- 55:48just my address is 2621. Come on over.
- 55:52Oh. Goodness, that's hilarious.
- 55:54No. So, yeah, So in those
- 55:55relationships, it's always that relationships are complicated.
- 55:58We can do a whole other podcast down the road on relationships.
- 56:01Yes, our. Own relationships?
- 56:05Yeah, they're hard. They're tough.
- 56:06Yeah. Even marriages.
- 56:08We could do a whole podcast on marriages.
- 56:10Something because yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 56:12And yeah, we are not the people to be taking any advice from,
- 56:15whether it's whether you go to Fantastic Four or yeah.
- 56:19Relationships, marriages. I did not listen to any.
- 56:22Well, don't worry Mama bear. You just keep watching Jackson
- 56:25for a while and and we'll see what happens of that.
- 56:29But it it sounds like it's going to turn out OK.
- 56:31And like you said, there's always somebody like we
- 56:35suspected there was someone, but when this person broke up with
- 56:38Jackson, he basically told him like, you're not interesting.
- 56:42I mean some very hurtful things that, you know, really got at
- 56:46Jackson and. Really nice coffee.
- 56:51Yeah, yeah, that's what, Yes. See why I was like so like like
- 56:55no bitch? Beat down.
- 56:57What are you talking about? That's not coffee, that's a
- 56:59bitch. Beat down.
- 57:01Yeah, like, yeah, like just me and stuff like that.
- 57:04Just it's like just break up with him.
- 57:06Like you don't have to. Like, I get that there has to be
- 57:10reasons and but that was yeah, it was bad.
- 57:14And yeah, it broke again. This was Jax's first
- 57:17relationship. It broke his heart.
- 57:19And then hearing those things said to you as a person makes it
- 57:2310 times worse. So.
- 57:25So yes, yeah, I don't want this person coming around no more so.
- 57:30I think you're strong. I mean, again, from Jackson it,
- 57:33you know, it's one of those things where yeah, that's not a
- 57:34good. It's like, yeah.
- 57:37No. I didn't realize that portion of
- 57:39it, but yeah. Well, yeah, I mean, I didn't say
- 57:41that, but yeah. And breakups, man, breakups are
- 57:44the worst. Yes, yes.
- 57:48I've been through multiple ones and it's not a fun situation.
- 57:50It's not fun. No, no.
- 57:53All right. Well, I think we can wrap things
- 57:55up on that note because we're at almost an hour.
- 57:59Did I get all my apologies out? I think I got all my.
- 58:01Apologies out. OK, you were supposed.
- 58:02Sorry to all you folks. You were supposed to apologize
- 58:05to Logan, right? I did.
- 58:06I'm sorry, I did. That anyone else?
- 58:09All the other people I named all.
- 58:12The other past podcasts. And this.
- 58:15One and this one too. Do you want me to start making
- 58:18up names for people? I sure can.
- 58:20I mean, we, we probably should, but we've already said their
- 58:23name, so I don't know. I mean, I mean, if, if, if one
- 58:27becomes the mayor, like that's not going to give it away,
- 58:30right? One if one.
- 58:31'S Man Mountain we know, Yeah. No Man Mountain Mayor.
- 58:35One was the mayor, right? You know, MAGA dude.
- 58:38If one's MAGA dude, I mean. We got, I mean that's pretty
- 58:42general. That could be a lot of guys that
- 58:43we. That could be a lot of people,
- 58:44but I mean, we got we got, I got a whole book that we could.
