Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: What a time.
- 0:00Speaker 2: That was twenty twenty one on the bus in the church.
- 0:03Speaker 2: What do you think of this compared to the church?
- 0:05Speaker 1: I like this. You know, I used to work this area.
- 0:08Speaker 1: I used to do.
- 0:09Speaker 3: I was a delivery guy. Uh, and we used to
- 0:12Speaker 3: deliver appliances and stuff like that, and we I was
- 0:15Speaker 3: over I would do it over here, and I mowed
- 0:17Speaker 3: and I and I worked for a guy to cut
- 0:19Speaker 3: grass once and his thing was right back over here too.
- 0:22Speaker 1: So I used to be over here a lot. Yeah,
- 0:24Speaker 1: Mowen job. You had Mowen jobs. I had one. It's
- 0:27Speaker 1: Mowen's the worst, dude.
- 0:29Speaker 3: It's it's uh, you know, like I would cut grass
- 0:32Speaker 3: going up like your neighbor's yard.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Ors.
- 0:34Speaker 3: I had this old lady, excuse me, I got five
- 0:36Speaker 3: bucks they cut her grass and then, uh, this was
- 0:40Speaker 3: nineteen fifty three, you got Yeah, that's a whole bunch
- 0:44Speaker 3: of salary right there. Back then, I remember I could
- 0:47Speaker 3: go there was a candy store. This is I mean,
- 0:49Speaker 3: I'm forty four, it's not like I'm one hundred, but
- 0:51Speaker 3: there was a candy store in old Hickory, and uh,
- 0:54Speaker 3: you could go.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Five bucks was a lot. Five bucks was like the twenty.
- 0:57Speaker 3: I think now like if you give a kid, if
- 0:59Speaker 3: you give a kid five now, I feel like they
- 1:01Speaker 3: don't even respect it. But twenty is, you know, it's
- 1:06Speaker 3: like fun. We were like, eh uh, but we had
- 1:08Speaker 3: so I mowed grass for a little bit, but I
- 1:09Speaker 3: mean just doing businesses and it's just man people that mow,
- 1:14Speaker 3: you know, like landscape and all that. That is brutal work.
- 1:19Speaker 3: It's so hot and you're just out in it all day.
- 1:23Speaker 1: I quit after one day of landscaping. Yeah.
- 1:25Speaker 4: Yeah, it was brutal. It was like a hot ninety
- 1:27Speaker 4: eight degrees. Like my mom wanted me to go do this.
- 1:30Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:30Speaker 4: I was lifeguard the summer before next summer, I got
- 1:35Speaker 4: thrust it into a landscaping job and I quit immediately.
- 1:40Speaker 1: The first day.
- 1:40Speaker 4: Yeah, we went, we went and got lunch and got
- 1:42Speaker 4: sandwiches or whatever.
- 1:44Speaker 1: I text my mom, I said, you gotta get me
- 1:45Speaker 1: out of here, dude.
- 1:46Speaker 2: The first I've never mowed along in my entire life,
- 1:49Speaker 2: really not one. I grew up in Arizona. Yeah, only
- 1:52Speaker 2: rich people had yeah brass and so you get the turf.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, people got turf or people got rocks, Like
- 1:57Speaker 2: that's really what you could deal with out there. So
- 1:59Speaker 2: coming out here or even being up in Michigan, the
- 2:02Speaker 2: maintenance is nuts. Yeah, and I feel like like a
- 2:05Speaker 2: landscaping deal isn't as bad because they have like the
- 2:09Speaker 2: cool mowers that they can kind of move around.
- 2:11Speaker 1: You're sitting the whole time. Yeah, they're all. They got
- 2:13Speaker 1: the whole garment and everything on.
- 2:14Speaker 2: I'm sure as a boy you were just short and short.
- 2:18Speaker 1: I was, yeah, I was never I wasn't that high.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Up, so you'd be you weed eating, which is I mean,
- 2:23Speaker 3: just no fun, or you're doing all the weird kind
- 2:26Speaker 3: of like where you gotta be like you got to
- 2:27Speaker 3: push it because they can't get a thing on it. Landscaping, though,
- 2:31Speaker 3: was the if you have no college, if you have
- 2:36Speaker 3: no chances of going to college, always starting a landscaping
- 2:39Speaker 3: company was talked about pretty heavily.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Dude, I have like four friends that have a landscaping company.
- 2:44Speaker 1: They you just go in town.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Yeah, when you're like I can't I'm not smart enough
- 2:48Speaker 3: to go really, I can't get in college or any stuff.
- 2:51Speaker 3: And you just have a group of people that'd be like,
- 2:54Speaker 3: let's start a landscaping But.
- 2:56Speaker 4: If somebody doesn't high school, they're the man for a
- 2:58Speaker 4: minute because they can afford all the when they go whatever. Yeah,
- 3:02Speaker 4: because you're you're collecting a lot of money being mowing lawns.
- 3:05Speaker 4: But then they're doing it still because they're you know,
- 3:07Speaker 4: didn't go to college.
- 3:08Speaker 3: I have a buddy mind his brother, he actually owns
- 3:11Speaker 3: a landscaping company. Now he was a he was a
- 3:13Speaker 3: kid that just started cutting yards, was like smart enough
- 3:16Speaker 3: to realize, like, oh, let me start building this up
- 3:19Speaker 3: into a thing.
- 3:20Speaker 1: And it is them.
- 3:21Speaker 3: They got money, like they saved money, and like you're like,
- 3:24Speaker 3: you know, someone's got like three grand and you're like what, yeah, yeah,
- 3:28Speaker 3: like unheard of, Yeah, unheard of? Is someone sixteen, Yeah,
- 3:33Speaker 3: sitting on three grand?
- 3:34Speaker 4: And then they pull like you know, a business gig
- 3:36Speaker 4: or a corporate gig and they're mowing those yards like
- 3:38Speaker 4: you're rich with.
- 3:39Speaker 1: My parents get that money. Thousand dollars.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Imagine seeing three thousand dollars in high school. It would
- 3:45Speaker 2: have been unimaginable. No, that's that'd be way too much.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Is that the worst job you've ever had? Being a landscaper?
- 3:50Speaker 1: Uh?
- 3:51Speaker 3: I Also, so the guy I used to deliver with
- 3:53Speaker 3: over here, we did another job where we recycled tires.
- 3:56Speaker 3: That job was on dirty jobs.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Uh. And how do you recycle a tire?
- 4:01Speaker 3: So you would go and pick up Uh you remember,
- 4:04Speaker 3: I don't know if you remember, but there's a big
- 4:06Speaker 3: Ford Uh they did where they did a call back
- 4:10Speaker 3: or recall on all the tires for Ford one.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Uh. Chevy would never.
- 4:14Speaker 3: And then uh there's and and so we had to
- 4:18Speaker 3: go get all the tires. So you go get all
- 4:19Speaker 3: the tires and then you pick them up and you
- 4:21Speaker 3: take them to Australia. I'm in Australia. I'm going to
- 4:23Speaker 3: Australia this week. It's all you take them to Atlanta
- 4:26Speaker 3: and then they have a thing and then they cut
- 4:28Speaker 3: them up and you know whatever they do recycling, whatever
- 4:31Speaker 3: cycling is. I'm pretty sure sure fields have like tire
- 4:33Speaker 3: peloton them. Yeah, yes, yeah. So that's where they don't
- 4:37Speaker 3: know what to do with it, so they just like
- 4:38Speaker 3: put it in the field. Uh yeah, So what why
- 4:44Speaker 3: was so hard?
- 4:45Speaker 1: Uh?
- 4:46Speaker 3: So you have to go pick up all these tires.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Water sits in the bottom of a tire and that's
- 4:51Speaker 3: where mosquitoes lay eggs and that's where it are. So
- 4:54Speaker 3: the whole time you're just getting lit up a mosquitoes.
- 4:58Speaker 3: That's just your day. I was doing this job when
- 5:01Speaker 3: nine to eleven happened.
- 5:02Speaker 1: That just like it was.
- 5:03Speaker 3: It was remember when I remember when, Yeah, I remember
- 5:06Speaker 3: it very well.
- 5:07Speaker 2: You heard that Alan Jackson song. You're like, I won't
- 5:09Speaker 2: forever know where I was.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Yeah, And uh so I did did the mosquitoes there,
- 5:14Speaker 3: and then we had one time we had to go
- 5:16Speaker 3: pick up tires out of a cave. So if someone
- 5:19Speaker 3: would pay you to come get the tires and then
- 5:21Speaker 3: you would go recycle them and then hopefully make some profit.
- 5:24Speaker 3: But one guy would just get the tires and then
- 5:27Speaker 3: just go dump them in a cave, and he wasn't
- 5:29Speaker 3: getting them recycled, so so he's just making straight profit
- 5:32Speaker 3: from taking tires. Well, they found out that guy would
- 5:35Speaker 3: end up going to jail, and but then we had
- 5:37Speaker 3: to go get those tires and they were all in
- 5:39Speaker 3: a cave. So we had to backup trucks just in
- 5:42Speaker 3: this cave and you gotta like run them up your
- 5:44Speaker 3: chest and like bump them and then they and then
- 5:46Speaker 3: then stack them up into the back of a like
- 5:49Speaker 3: a is.
- 5:50Speaker 4: It too where you got to pick up fucking you
- 5:51Speaker 4: see a big track, You're like, oh, let's go do
- 5:53Speaker 4: this shop and get a couple of tires, and then
- 5:54Speaker 4: they're massive tractor tires.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Uh yeah, I don't remember that.
- 5:58Speaker 3: I don't necessarily cars were all car tires because this
- 6:01Speaker 3: was again the recall. So it was like everybody around
- 6:05Speaker 3: here at so many tires because all these tires got recalled,
- 6:08Speaker 3: so they everybody was like it was a big kind
- 6:10Speaker 3: of booming business at that moment, and uh this and
- 6:14Speaker 3: this one guy just figured like I just dump them
- 6:16Speaker 3: in a cave Jesus, and we had I mean, there
- 6:18Speaker 3: was so many tires in this cave.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Dude.
- 6:20Speaker 3: We just drove back up in there and just there's
- 6:23Speaker 3: the most tires and you're like all right, and you
- 6:26Speaker 3: just all right.
- 6:28Speaker 1: I just would be good at it. They would you.
- 6:29Speaker 1: You would run it up your body and then bounce
- 6:32Speaker 1: the tire off your chest. How was you? Would it
- 6:33Speaker 1: started the toes like you get the toes a little quick.
- 6:35Speaker 3: You kind of yeah, you just kind of run it
- 6:37Speaker 3: up and it's all in one motion and then it's
- 6:39Speaker 3: probably a worker. Now you probably pay to get a
- 6:41Speaker 3: trainer to make you do it, but yeah, you just
- 6:44Speaker 3: do it and you roll it back and then you
- 6:45Speaker 3: got to stack the tires like kind of criss crossed.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Oh where you found that physique of yours? Dude, that
- 6:50Speaker 1: muscle memory.
- 6:51Speaker 3: You have, you know you're probably probably was a pretty strong.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Yeah you're strong, like you're like, uh you know, like
- 6:57Speaker 3: uh blue collar strong where you're country boys d weird strength,
- 7:02Speaker 3: the meat your hands throwing.
- 7:03Speaker 4: The hay bales out there. They just got a grip
- 7:05Speaker 4: like a motherfucker.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a tough job.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Another job that'd be tough is like, uh, have you
- 7:09Speaker 2: ever heard like college hunks and junks?
- 7:12Speaker 1: That company? Uh No, was like two man are Uh yeah,
- 7:18Speaker 1: it's kind of like that.
- 7:19Speaker 2: But like their whole promo of the whole thing is
- 7:21Speaker 2: essentially hot college guys come and pick up your trash. Yeah,
- 7:25Speaker 2: and we use them and they come in and they're
- 7:28Speaker 2: like they're not hot, Like they're like thirty five, forty.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Years old, Like, yeah, bad tans. You hired them?
- 7:34Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I call them up. I want to see
- 7:36Speaker 2: what this is all about. If this is your branding.
- 7:38Speaker 2: They were not the guys on the flyer when I
- 7:40Speaker 2: called them out, y'all are not hot?
- 7:43Speaker 1: Yeah, what's the deal with that promise?
- 7:45Speaker 2: The funny thing is they'll just look at all the
- 7:47Speaker 2: trash you have, and they'll go three hundred. You're like
- 7:50Speaker 2: all right, and they just take it and they leave.
- 7:52Speaker 2: And that's their job. That's a wild job to have. Yeah, living, Yeah,
- 7:56Speaker 2: for your tired one. What'd you get paid? I don't
- 8:00Speaker 2: even know if I remember. I mean, I mean nothing
- 8:03Speaker 2: like uh or what you know? Enough I was twenty,
- 8:06Speaker 2: so it's like enough to give, like whatever it was.
- 8:10Speaker 1: You know, you're living. I might us have lived at
- 8:12Speaker 1: home or you're at an apartment.
- 8:14Speaker 3: I mean back then it was just everything was so
- 8:16Speaker 3: it was you know, you your rent was probably four
- 8:18Speaker 3: hundred a month or some five undred a month, like
- 8:21Speaker 3: if you had an apartment.
- 8:22Speaker 2: I don't remember being that crazy when you were. When
- 8:25Speaker 2: you were twenty years old, you were still here. I
- 8:26Speaker 2: know you guys talked about the last podcast, But when
- 8:28Speaker 2: did you make the trip to New York?
- 8:30Speaker 1: When did you decide that's where I'm going.
- 8:31Speaker 3: For So, I moved to Chicago first, and then uh
- 8:36Speaker 3: because had a buddy we were reading water meters in
- 8:39Speaker 3: uh Mount Juliet, and so he wanted to go to
- 8:42Speaker 3: Second City in Chicago.
- 8:43Speaker 1: It's where a lot of SNL people.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Come out of Farley came out of Yeah, and so
- 8:47Speaker 3: we went to Uh. So I was like, oh, I
- 8:49Speaker 3: think I want to start comedy, and so we went
- 8:52Speaker 3: to Chicago and uh uh moved up there and I
- 8:55Speaker 3: did that very briefly. Then I kind of started doing
- 8:57Speaker 3: stand up and then Uh, there's a there's a great
- 9:01Speaker 3: documentary with Seinfeld called Comedian.
- 9:03Speaker 1: It's on Netflix.
- 9:04Speaker 3: It's when he's like he's starting a new hour and
- 9:08Speaker 3: so he's writing it and shows all this New York
- 9:11Speaker 3: He's going to all these New York clubs and doing
- 9:12Speaker 3: this stuff. And so then I saw that, and when
- 9:15Speaker 3: I saw that, it was like I got to go
- 9:17Speaker 3: to New York. And then that just went So I
- 9:19Speaker 3: moved to New York in four Yeah.
- 9:21Speaker 2: We just had to Stefan on the podcast and he
- 9:23Speaker 2: was talking about how like New York is the spot.
- 9:26Speaker 1: There's no other place like that.
- 9:27Speaker 2: You have to like literally run through like five thousand
- 9:29Speaker 2: dudes to even make it out of there.
- 9:30Speaker 4: He was saying he would never move away from New
- 9:32Speaker 4: York because it's all, yeah, you can make it out
- 9:34Speaker 4: of New York.
- 9:35Speaker 1: He is New York, He's New York. Yeah, and then
- 9:37Speaker 1: I grew up there.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I can't imagine being a Tennessee boy and then
- 9:41Speaker 2: going up to New York.
- 9:42Speaker 3: It was, Yeah, it was a lot like Christy's like
- 9:44Speaker 3: a lot younger than me, but I remember when he
- 9:48Speaker 3: got a great dude and then when he came on
- 9:51Speaker 3: the scene, you do you have to go.
- 9:53Speaker 1: It's the best.
- 9:54Speaker 3: The big saying was like go to New York to
- 9:57Speaker 3: get good, in LA to get famous. That's saying heard
- 10:00Speaker 3: once and that, but it always made a ton of
- 10:02Speaker 3: sense to me. Uh, but New York is like it
- 10:06Speaker 3: is where you go and you're just grinding out in
- 10:08Speaker 3: these comedy clubs and just uh, we're all doing spots.
- 10:12Speaker 3: You're all doing shows for five people. I mean it's
- 10:15Speaker 3: a lot like the beginning is most of your careers
- 10:18Speaker 3: in front of five six people, you'd be happy.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Yeah, because you talked about how you'd stand outside and
- 10:23Speaker 4: handoff flyers just to get a few people in.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Yeah, one of your boys is performing, You're like, hey,
- 10:28Speaker 1: come check it out. Yeah.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Yeah, that's and you and you get paid in stage time,
- 10:31Speaker 3: so you you would just do that and then at
- 10:34Speaker 3: the end of the night you get to go on
- 10:35Speaker 3: stage like midnight and do five minutes and then you
- 10:38Speaker 3: go do it and the next day.
- 10:39Speaker 1: But it's a world. I mean, you become you.
- 10:41Speaker 3: You just you fall in love with it because you're
- 10:44Speaker 3: seeing like back when I did it was like you're
- 10:46Speaker 3: seeing Bill Burr. Bill Burr's probably doing comedy ten years
- 10:48Speaker 3: when I was in New York at the beginning, and
- 10:52Speaker 3: so like it. But no one knows who he is
- 10:53Speaker 3: and Paterresa O'Neill.
- 10:55Speaker 1: And all this.
- 10:55Speaker 3: So you're you're you're like kind of like, I can't
- 10:58Speaker 3: believe these dudes exist in your world. Like it's a
- 11:01Speaker 3: you think, like you know, if you're in high school
- 11:03Speaker 3: and you're the top football player in your and then
- 11:05Speaker 3: you go, oh, there's other people that are so good yeah,
- 11:09Speaker 3: and then you like and it makes you love it
- 11:11Speaker 3: because you go, oh, this it's a whole nother level,
- 11:15Speaker 3: Like it's.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Let me see if I can make it here, let
- 11:17Speaker 1: me see if I.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Can make it yeah, Because you can be whatever in
- 11:20Speaker 3: your own little small thing, but you gotta always change
- 11:22Speaker 3: it up so then you can be like, let me
- 11:24Speaker 3: see if I can run with these guys.
- 11:26Speaker 4: I'm with you growing up in Bonter, when I went
- 11:28Speaker 4: to college, I was like, oh, ship, yeah, white guys
- 11:31Speaker 4: play football.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, let me see start. Yeah, let me
- 11:35Speaker 1: see if I can run with these guys.
- 11:36Speaker 4: Yeah, how to work out for you at first in college?
- 11:40Speaker 1: Yeah, you know it's intimidating.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Yeah, you know how it is absolutely yes, like it's
- 11:45Speaker 4: it's intimidating. But it's like once you get that first compliment, dude, hey,
- 11:50Speaker 4: this white boy can play.
- 11:51Speaker 1: That's all.
- 11:51Speaker 2: It's hey, you're pretty this for a white guy. It's okay,
- 11:55Speaker 2: we've we're making it out here.
- 11:57Speaker 1: That's what.
- 11:57Speaker 3: That's why I might be one of the best athletes
- 11:59Speaker 3: of all time. Then, yeah, there's no question about it.
- 12:01Speaker 3: You are you really think you're him at that point?
- 12:03Speaker 2: Yeah, when you're in New York and you're sifting through this,
- 12:05Speaker 2: you're seeing guys like Bill Burr, who wasn't Bill Burr
- 12:07Speaker 2: at the time. How do you when you're trying to
- 12:09Speaker 2: find your own voice, not steal from these other guys
- 12:12Speaker 2: or not get influenced too much by being around all
- 12:14Speaker 2: these other people all the time. Because I'm sure you
- 12:16Speaker 2: watch a set and you're like, damn, that's shit. That
- 12:18Speaker 2: is funny, and it's kind of up your alley of
- 12:20Speaker 2: humor because it's such a subjective like career, Like some
- 12:24Speaker 2: guys you just don't think are funny.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Some guys you do.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Like when you see it, dude, and they do a bit,
- 12:28Speaker 2: you're like, man, how do you not steal it?
- 12:30Speaker 1: Uh, Well, stealing.
- 12:31Speaker 3: A bit you wouldn't do cause it's uh, their cadence
- 12:34Speaker 3: is a big thing.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Yeah, so you can sound like them.
- 12:37Speaker 3: So the way someone tells a joke uh and makes
- 12:41Speaker 3: it funny is uh, there's something that that's that's something
- 12:45Speaker 3: that can get taken that. I would always talk with
- 12:48Speaker 3: my buddy Yannis about it.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Are you honest?
- 12:50Speaker 3: Would always bring up like that's worse than stealing a
- 12:52Speaker 3: joke because it's like you're stealing the way to tell
- 12:54Speaker 3: the joke. So it's like the other stuff doesn't really matter.
- 12:57Speaker 3: It's like, you know, Ron Reagan has a just stinct
- 13:00Speaker 3: like thing when you know when, like you know when
- 13:03Speaker 3: to laugh, you know when to do what David Tel
- 13:05Speaker 3: does too. Yeah, And so you'd have to catch yourself
- 13:08Speaker 3: sounding like them. David Teil is a big one that
- 13:10Speaker 3: when I was a lot of people sounded like David Tel.
- 13:12Speaker 3: I could catch myself in a little rhythm of David Tel.
- 13:15Speaker 3: My accent would hide it. So I don't think anybody
- 13:18Speaker 3: realized it, but I could feel it, like I was like, oh,
- 13:21Speaker 3: I'm like watching him too much, and so you gotta
- 13:25Speaker 3: and you don't want to start writing jokes like that,
- 13:27Speaker 3: because then that's when you can see a comic if
- 13:30Speaker 3: they get too far. You're like, oh, you sound like
- 13:33Speaker 3: this right, Like, even though you're doing jokes that are different,
- 13:36Speaker 3: but you sound like him. And that's the part that
- 13:39Speaker 3: you wanna if you want to be your own voice,
- 13:41Speaker 3: you got to be super aware of that.
- 13:43Speaker 2: If you're sitting through the comment section in one of
- 13:45Speaker 2: your posts on Instagram, is that one of the more
- 13:47Speaker 2: insulting things to see is oh you sound like so
- 13:50Speaker 2: and so.
- 13:51Speaker 3: If they do, uh yeah, I mean I don't know
- 13:53Speaker 3: if I can distinctly remember, I would have some like, uh,
- 13:57Speaker 3: you know, people tell you they or they've heard this
- 14:00Speaker 3: joke before they the joke's stealing thing they got all started.
- 14:03Speaker 3: I don't it's not as I think, as crazy as
- 14:07Speaker 3: people think it is, like it wasn't. It's it's just
- 14:11Speaker 3: not you know, they made it into this big thing.
- 14:14Speaker 3: A lot of times when jokes are stolen, you can
- 14:16Speaker 3: really look at the joke and be like, uh, it's
- 14:19Speaker 3: a it's not a super original idea, and you're like,
- 14:23Speaker 3: I don't know, dude, I mean like I could see
- 14:25Speaker 3: two people coming up with this thing, and you really look.
- 14:27Speaker 1: At it like that.
- 14:28Speaker 3: I mean, there's comics, there's only so much we're all
- 14:30Speaker 3: doing the exact same thing. There's only so much that
- 14:32Speaker 3: anybody's doing. If you're in a world that like you're
- 14:36Speaker 3: single and you're going out and you're drinking, well, that's
- 14:38Speaker 3: fifty comics that are single, going out and drinking. So
- 14:41Speaker 3: what are they gonna talk about? They're go all, you're
- 14:43Speaker 3: gonna all talk about the same kind of things, right,
- 14:46Speaker 3: So that stuff gets thrown in a lot that it's
- 14:50Speaker 3: you know, you're like, I don't know. I think it
- 14:52Speaker 3: happens in movies though, something like that that's the overhim.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Like Star Wars and Harry Potter.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Like any Yeah, like writers in a movie like I
- 14:59Speaker 3: would say, right, TV show writer, like you could there's
- 15:02Speaker 3: stuff like that that I I mean, I don't know
- 15:04Speaker 3: if I could, you could ever. I don't know if
- 15:07Speaker 3: there's an example to say it, But like that stuff
- 15:10Speaker 3: you get nervous about because I mean, someone writing a
- 15:11Speaker 3: movie like they could just grab a joke from some
- 15:14Speaker 3: comic and just.
- 15:17Speaker 1: The joke in the college.
- 15:18Speaker 4: Talking like if I happen to be some writer and
- 15:20Speaker 4: I'm liking your stand up a story you tell it's like, oh,
- 15:23Speaker 4: I'm gonna put this in that movie.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Yeah, or it could be influenced by it. It could be
- 15:27Speaker 3: there's a lot of thing and I mean that's and
- 15:29Speaker 3: that's masked so much that I mean, you can't even
- 15:32Speaker 3: how you're gonna, you know, be like that that's my
- 15:35Speaker 3: joke and you're like, well, they say it, Like.
- 15:37Speaker 4: I want to say, that's that's been talked about.
- 15:40Speaker 3: That really be wall uh that Wallberg's uh the Boston bombing,
- 15:50Speaker 3: the movie Wahlberg about the Boston Boston bombers. I think
- 15:55Speaker 3: there's a joke about an iron or something at the
- 15:57Speaker 3: beginning of it, and I want to say that joke
- 15:59Speaker 3: might be something that's like from a comment.
- 16:01Speaker 4: And now that I'm thinking about it, I want to
- 16:03Speaker 4: say it was like THEO talking about uh oh yeah
- 16:06Speaker 4: it was the the show Dave right, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 16:11Speaker 4: But he was digesting it.
- 16:13Speaker 1: I mean you could tell he was alluded to it.
- 16:14Speaker 1: He wasn't.
- 16:15Speaker 4: I don't think he was being like all this is
- 16:17Speaker 4: fact because ultimately I guess you you don't.
- 16:19Speaker 1: In his own way, right, yeah, right, but yeah, that's
- 16:22Speaker 1: a good point.
- 16:23Speaker 3: You hear something he says that of yeah, and you're like,
- 16:26Speaker 3: I mean they're gonna you got the and how do
- 16:29Speaker 3: not saying all these writers are writers are not doing
- 16:32Speaker 3: the majority of them, we're not doing it. But it's
- 16:34Speaker 3: like that bit, you know, Yeah, it's like they're gonna
- 16:38Speaker 3: be You're gonna be influenced by people. You want to
- 16:39Speaker 3: hear things here. There's so much content now, so you're
- 16:42Speaker 3: hearing stuff all the time. You you might not realize
- 16:44Speaker 3: like where you would have possibly heard that.
- 16:47Speaker 2: Yeah, but the still in the joke thing seems like
- 16:50Speaker 2: other comment like I mean there was there was one
- 16:54Speaker 2: reference like I was a big dang Cook guy growing up.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I was like right around my middle school time and
- 16:59Speaker 2: Dan Cook we all loved it.
- 17:01Speaker 1: We all loved them.
- 17:02Speaker 2: There was a big time where people were like Dane
- 17:04Speaker 2: Cook stole a joke, the same joke as Lewis c.
- 17:07Speaker 1: K told about having a kid.
- 17:09Speaker 2: He doesn't have a kid right now, but when he
- 17:10Speaker 2: has a kid, he's gonna name something ridiculous like just
- 17:13Speaker 2: the one letter five of them. And then he like allegedly.
- 17:16Speaker 2: I haven't really looked too much into it, so I'm
- 17:18Speaker 2: kind of just speaking out of pocket here. But Dane
- 17:20Speaker 2: just changed the letter essentially and did his like his
- 17:23Speaker 2: cadence and all that, because they're totally different comments.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I think there's another like his itchy butthole or
- 17:29Speaker 3: something was another joke like.
- 17:31Speaker 1: That, and it was, uh.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I remember all that stuff going on
- 17:36Speaker 3: Amy Schumer. I was around Amy a lot, and people
- 17:38Speaker 3: would blame, but it's like, I just it's some of
- 17:42Speaker 3: it you're I mean, the Dane and the Louis thing. Look,
- 17:45Speaker 3: I don't know. I mean maybe they did it's uh
- 17:49Speaker 3: and they maybe subconsciously did it.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I don't know if.
- 17:52Speaker 3: I just find it hard to believe people are like
- 17:53Speaker 3: on purpose doing this stuff. Yeah, not saying that's right
- 17:57Speaker 3: to subconsciously do it, like you should somewhat try to check.
- 18:00Speaker 3: But it's overall you're like, I don't know, dude, Like
- 18:03Speaker 3: they're not comics, are not just taking each other?
- 18:06Speaker 1: Said, where are you gonna go do this? You know?
- 18:08Speaker 3: Yeah, where you're gonna get caught, You're gonna get especially
- 18:11Speaker 3: now with and then the thing that was frustrating is
- 18:13Speaker 3: it makes it. Then everybody like, so if you have
- 18:16Speaker 3: a joke similar to someone else, someone's like, do you
- 18:18Speaker 3: steal that joke from that person? You're like, no, dude,
- 18:20Speaker 3: we're all talking about the same thing. Like, no one's
- 18:22Speaker 3: stealing a joke. They're just people are talking about stuff.
- 18:26Speaker 3: It usually goes to you gotta look at what the
- 18:29Speaker 3: joke is to be like, is it that original of
- 18:31Speaker 3: an idea?
- 18:33Speaker 1: And a lot of times it's not.
- 18:34Speaker 3: And then it's like something that's kind of like and
- 18:36Speaker 3: there's jokes out there where you're like, I think I've
- 18:38Speaker 3: heard my uncle say that joke. You know, like that
- 18:40Speaker 3: person's not stealing that joke. It's like just telling kind
- 18:44Speaker 3: of a hacky joke. Jap, Are you catching all that
- 18:46Speaker 3: rain in the headphones?
- 18:49Speaker 2: I keep seeing Garrett look back and forth and stuff
- 18:51Speaker 2: like that.
- 18:51Speaker 4: You just you hear the rain get even harder, and
- 18:55Speaker 4: you're just like, fuck the one hour we're getting Nate on, Yeah, perfect, as.
- 19:02Speaker 1: He's telling a story, you just hear get louder and louder. Yeah, when.
- 19:07Speaker 2: We make sure the tornado doesn't Yeah, we don't need that. Yeah,
- 19:10Speaker 2: we definitely do not need that in our lives.
- 19:12Speaker 4: Do you catch that it's absolutely going off. There's like
- 19:16Speaker 4: flood warnings meeting. Do you ever get just tired of
- 19:19Speaker 4: being funny? Like when you're doing you're like, you know,
- 19:22Speaker 4: you kind of fall in love with it in New
- 19:24Speaker 4: York and you're grinding through it and even now it's
- 19:26Speaker 4: just like you're just you've blown up. Like as a comedian,
- 19:29Speaker 4: I've always I don't know why I never ask him,
- 19:31Speaker 4: but I'm just thinking, do you guys just ever get
- 19:33Speaker 4: tired of just being like everybody?
- 19:35Speaker 1: Every room I step into, I'm expected to be funny?
- 19:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean you have to be on. That's the
- 19:41Speaker 3: part of that's hard. But I think y'all would experience that.
- 19:43Speaker 3: You know how many times you got to feel like
- 19:44Speaker 3: you're on? So when you go out to a public event,
- 19:47Speaker 3: when you go to something or like that kind of thing,
- 19:50Speaker 3: or you meet people and like it's it's the being
- 19:52Speaker 3: on is the thing that gets exhausting.
- 19:55Speaker 1: That's for anybody.
- 19:55Speaker 3: I mean, people could feel that if they go to
- 19:57Speaker 3: work and they feel like they have to kind of
- 20:00Speaker 3: be like, all right, I got turn it on a
- 20:01Speaker 3: little bit, I gotta be better. You know, I'm We're
- 20:04Speaker 3: gonna die about this fucking funny that like, out of
- 20:08Speaker 3: this stuff. We're in like a garage. All stuff that
- 20:11Speaker 3: I don't think you're supposed to be in inside of
- 20:13Speaker 3: a storm. Is we're in a garage and you're like,
- 20:16Speaker 3: all right, well that you should be in there, but
- 20:18Speaker 3: at least you're not in a bus inside of it.
- 20:20Speaker 3: You're like, oh, we're in a bush, one of the
- 20:24Speaker 3: old buses that look like it's driving around trying to
- 20:26Speaker 3: be struck by lighting.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Uh. Yeah, yeah, we're in danger right now. We are
- 20:31Speaker 1: in danger.
- 20:32Speaker 4: The being on thing, the being on things true because
- 20:33Speaker 4: anytime you come across like fans and everything else, you
- 20:35Speaker 4: want them to be like you know, you don't want
- 20:37Speaker 4: to like let people down or all of a sudden
- 20:39Speaker 4: you're like an ass on that You're like, you know
- 20:41Speaker 4: that you're fucking not even.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Yeah, because it only takes one bad impression for them
- 20:44Speaker 2: to be off you forever.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, you know, you meet somebody, it's you. It's
- 20:48Speaker 1: either you or not you.
- 20:49Speaker 3: So like usually when you meet if someone meets someone
- 20:51Speaker 3: famous and they're kind of stand offish whatever, you're like, yeah, man,
- 20:54Speaker 3: that person's probably like that in real life. Yeah, And
- 20:57Speaker 3: otherwise it's yeah, it's like the the crowd and the
- 21:01Speaker 3: audience should not feel my tiredness or my whatever, like
- 21:05Speaker 3: that's not on them to do any of that stuff. Yeah,
- 21:08Speaker 3: so there's like little moments like that, But I mean,
- 21:11Speaker 3: I don't think I ever feel with an audience.
- 21:12Speaker 1: You feel it with like.
- 21:15Speaker 3: You know, the business side is sometimes just because you're
- 21:17Speaker 3: like the audience you're like grateful for because that's the
- 21:20Speaker 3: reason you're here. Sometimes you gotta go do the business
- 21:23Speaker 3: side of things, and then you're like.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Yeah, but business side you can like kind of turn
- 21:28Speaker 1: it on and off.
- 21:28Speaker 2: I feel like the being on thing is like when
- 21:32Speaker 2: you're just walking somewhere and someone's like, hey, I like
- 21:36Speaker 2: you for this, and then you feel like, okay, I
- 21:38Speaker 2: have to make sure this person has a good experience.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Yeah that way that it's like the move it forward
- 21:43Speaker 2: or what's that movie? Everything you're paying forward and then
- 21:45Speaker 2: just like one person tells two people, it's like we
- 21:47Speaker 2: got to make sure, yeah, yeah, this person's happy with
- 21:49Speaker 2: their experience and move on. If that happens too many times,
- 21:52Speaker 2: that's when it kind of gets a little draining.
- 21:54Speaker 3: Nice and the mid that's what's so that's the easiest
- 21:56Speaker 3: part about it. It's really a lot easier just to
- 21:58Speaker 3: be nice and move on. And it's like, it is
- 22:00Speaker 3: funny if you someone that doesn't want to be like that,
- 22:02Speaker 3: You're like, well you make it much harder bout being
- 22:04Speaker 3: kind of mean. Yeah, you could just be nice and
- 22:06Speaker 3: it would move very quickly, no doubt.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Has there ever been a person that you've like kind
- 22:11Speaker 2: of looked up to and then you meet him and
- 22:13Speaker 2: you're like, fuck, don't meet your hero type thing. You
- 22:16Speaker 2: brought up one person that universally seems like people are
- 22:21Speaker 2: not a huge fan of.
- 22:21Speaker 1: That's Jerry Seinfeld. Yeah.
- 22:24Speaker 3: I so I've only been I've talked to him once.
- 22:30Speaker 3: I'm a giant sein Fold fan, so I still want
- 22:34Speaker 3: to go to there. So I don't have There was
- 22:35Speaker 3: a lot of people that have said that they didn't
- 22:37Speaker 3: he can be kind of stand officeer. He can be
- 22:39Speaker 3: and they would be that with comics and stuff like that.
- 22:42Speaker 3: I mean, I don't look at that too much. Somebody
- 22:43Speaker 3: is the years, he's sixty something years old, like doing
- 22:45Speaker 3: comedy for forty years or more. So some of that
- 22:51Speaker 3: I look at, like, yeah, does he want to talk
- 22:52Speaker 3: to Like, I mean, I'm an open micer to him, Like,
- 22:55Speaker 3: you know, he's done comedy so much longer than me.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Like not that I'm an open by, but you know
- 22:59Speaker 3: what I mean. Like it's like you're so if you
- 23:01Speaker 3: were having talking to some seventh grader about being a
- 23:05Speaker 3: lineman there's something like playing football, you'd be like, what
- 23:08Speaker 3: do we go talk about?
- 23:09Speaker 1: Dude?
- 23:10Speaker 3: Like I don't, I can't, You're too new. So sometimes
- 23:13Speaker 3: like I think of it like that, like people were like, ah,
- 23:15Speaker 3: he wasn't not like comics specifically, could think like I
- 23:19Speaker 3: I didn't like the way he left, and you're like,
- 23:21Speaker 3: what do you want him to do?
- 23:22Speaker 1: Like just I don't know?
- 23:24Speaker 3: Like that, So I've had no Luis cy K thought
- 23:29Speaker 3: I had a little bit with when I first started.
- 23:32Speaker 3: Now it's not. I mean, obviously he's come back down
- 23:36Speaker 3: to reality a little bit. Uh, that happens a little bit.
- 23:39Speaker 3: That happens a little bit.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Have you heard Pete Davidson's a bit about that he
- 23:43Speaker 2: talks about I guess uh. Luisy K was hosting SNL
- 23:46Speaker 2: and then Pete Davidson got high and he was walking
- 23:49Speaker 2: through to go to the elevators, and like luisy K
- 23:51Speaker 2: caught up with him and he was like, hey, stop
- 23:52Speaker 2: getting high.
- 23:53Speaker 1: You're ruining your fucking life.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Blah blah blah, like kind of dug into him and
- 23:57Speaker 2: Petez soll High's like that didn't happen. There's no way
- 23:59Speaker 2: that actually just happened. And the next day, whoever, who's
- 24:02Speaker 2: the guy, is it Lauren that Lauren's like, yeah, he
- 24:06Speaker 2: calls Pete into the office, and essentially it's like people
- 24:10Speaker 2: have done coke here before, like just I guess, don't
- 24:12Speaker 2: let Luisy k smoke. And then his whole bit is
- 24:14Speaker 2: going into So you'd be so happy when I found
- 24:16Speaker 2: out on one great day that he was jerking off
- 24:19Speaker 2: in front of ladies and stuff like that, and it's
- 24:20Speaker 2: a it's a pretty funny deal.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Funny.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like he, uh, Louie's been I have like
- 24:27Speaker 3: now it's not been back when I was when I
- 24:29Speaker 3: I remember I opened for him once a long time ago,
- 24:32Speaker 3: and uh, he was just kinda like I don't know,
- 24:35Speaker 3: he was just I mean, like at one point Louis
- 24:37Speaker 3: was on top of the world, like so in you know,
- 24:41Speaker 3: we're in New York, like, I mean, he is the
- 24:43Speaker 3: biggest comic on the planet, and uh, and it would
- 24:47Speaker 3: come off sometimes you can meet him and he'd be
- 24:49Speaker 3: kind of like jerkier, like you know, just not nice,
- 24:52Speaker 3: not being nice, and you're like, you know, you're a
- 24:54Speaker 3: young comic and you're just thinking like I'm just said
- 24:57Speaker 3: I'm nobody, dude, Like just I'm not in you know,
- 24:59Speaker 3: I'm not trying to add You're trying to.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Get out of his way. You're trying to do all
- 25:02Speaker 1: these things.
- 25:03Speaker 3: And he would just you know, Iby would just say
- 25:06Speaker 3: like you I brought him up on stage, and you'd
- 25:08Speaker 3: be like, all right, everybody, yo excited to see your
- 25:11Speaker 3: headliner tonight, Please welcome Louis c K. Like and then
- 25:15Speaker 3: I brought him on stage and he's like, don't introduce
- 25:17Speaker 3: me like that, and look in a weird way, there's
- 25:21Speaker 3: a valid point and to be like they are there
- 25:23Speaker 3: to see him. I don't really need to say anything
- 25:25Speaker 3: but please welcome Louis c K. But the other side
- 25:29Speaker 3: of it, I've been doing comedy six years at this point,
- 25:31Speaker 3: I don't know what to do. I'm nervous, like like
- 25:35Speaker 3: it was part of you, like why don't you think
- 25:36Speaker 3: about the situation that we have. I'm getting I can't
- 25:39Speaker 3: believe I'm here, I can't believe I'm getting to go
- 25:41Speaker 3: up in front of you. This is it's a sold
- 25:44Speaker 3: out room. I've never been in front of a sold
- 25:46Speaker 3: out room. There's a lot of things playing into it.
- 25:49Speaker 3: So you're like, there was like that kind of stuff
- 25:51Speaker 3: with Louis where he would just like say to you.
- 25:53Speaker 3: You're like, what do you want me to do?
- 25:54Speaker 1: Dude? How how did you introduce him? You just where
- 25:57Speaker 1: you're like, all right, Yoxite, you know I'm from.
- 25:59Speaker 3: You're like giving his credit and all this stuff, and
- 26:01Speaker 3: he was it's just like, you don't sell my credits.
- 26:03Speaker 3: You don't they know who they're here to see, which
- 26:06Speaker 3: is true, and that makes you don't need to say it,
- 26:08Speaker 3: like yeah, but it would just be like he come
- 26:10Speaker 3: tell you that, but in like kind of an aggressive way,
- 26:13Speaker 3: and you're like, Louis, I don't know what to do, dude.
- 26:15Speaker 3: I know, I'm so nervous about this whole experience.
- 26:20Speaker 1: I just don't want you to be mad.
- 26:22Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, like I and you're mad clearly and then
- 26:27Speaker 3: now or I don't know nothing. He's that mad. But
- 26:29Speaker 3: it's just being like, just be regular, man, Just be normal.
- 26:33Speaker 3: You don't even say I don't even know the green room.
- 26:35Speaker 3: I'm trying my best I'm trying to like, hey, I'm
- 26:37Speaker 3: just doing whatever I can do. I did a joke
- 26:40Speaker 3: and then he went up and made fun of my joke,
- 26:44Speaker 3: and that made me so mad. I was so mad
- 26:45Speaker 3: about this. I was so mad about this for a
- 26:47Speaker 3: long time because it was just like it was like, dude,
- 26:50Speaker 3: we're nobody's man. I'm I'm I got paid seventy five
- 26:52Speaker 3: dollars that night, like I think for hosting, So pray
- 26:56Speaker 3: seventy five bucks. That's it, and I'm fine, and I
- 26:59Speaker 3: it's I that would do that game for free.
- 27:01Speaker 1: But you're like, what do you I'm again, I'm not,
- 27:04Speaker 1: I'm just so when you got off the stage, he
- 27:07Speaker 1: came up and made funny make front of it. I
- 27:09Speaker 1: was pretty upset a BYuT that you remember the joke, Yeah,
- 27:11Speaker 1: it was a joke.
- 27:12Speaker 3: The joke I had about, uh uh, if if I
- 27:18Speaker 3: don't have a gun in my house, I have like
- 27:20Speaker 3: a knife or something in my next to my bed.
- 27:23Speaker 3: So if my if but I have my wife sleep
- 27:26Speaker 3: next to the door, so if someone broke in, I
- 27:28Speaker 3: can shove her at it.
- 27:30Speaker 1: And then it was something like that joke I'm.
- 27:32Speaker 3: Not great at memory, and another one that would I
- 27:33Speaker 3: take a bullet for my wife.
- 27:35Speaker 1: That was it.
- 27:36Speaker 3: And I was like and I said yes, because how
- 27:38Speaker 3: could I ever take a bullet? That's pretty fast, you
- 27:41Speaker 3: know for a gun to be You can't like hear
- 27:43Speaker 3: a gun go off and jump in front of it.
- 27:45Speaker 3: It would hit her so quick. So you're like, I
- 27:47Speaker 3: just would say, yeah, I will take a bullet. I'll
- 27:49Speaker 3: take a bull for anybody, because I'm never gonna be
- 27:50Speaker 3: able to get in front of that bullet.
- 27:52Speaker 1: And that was like kind of the joke.
- 27:54Speaker 3: And then he was like, well, you stand in front
- 27:58Speaker 3: of him when the person holds a gun, you then
- 27:59Speaker 3: get in front over he like just like he described
- 28:02Speaker 3: it the way like my wife would describe it and
- 28:04Speaker 3: make it like not fun, like the way you have
- 28:06Speaker 3: like your parent would just be like, well, I don't
- 28:07Speaker 3: know if it's gonna work like that. You're like, yeah,
- 28:09Speaker 3: it's a joke. We're just trying to have fun. She
- 28:10Speaker 3: just knows that the whole crowd's gonna laugh, because.
- 28:13Speaker 1: They laughed like then, making fun of me.
- 28:15Speaker 3: And then you're like and then you're just like sitting
- 28:17Speaker 3: there like you know, I'm twenty seven years old, like
- 28:21Speaker 3: why would you what do I have to do with anything, right, Like,
- 28:25Speaker 3: please leave me out of this. Yeah, you're I'm just
- 28:27Speaker 3: doing a spot, dude, I'm hosting. Hannibal was supposed to
- 28:29Speaker 3: be on that show too, Burst and he didn't even
- 28:31Speaker 3: show up to the first show and uh he was
- 28:34Speaker 3: hosting and then like that was mad at that. I'll
- 28:36Speaker 3: tell you that was mad at the whole night. You
- 28:39Speaker 3: start snowballs me and I'm like, I'm here, Yeah, we
- 28:44Speaker 3: Hannimal didn't show up like I did, like a little
- 28:47Speaker 3: more time, yeah, because handle want to show up and
- 28:49Speaker 3: you're still making fun of me. This was Hannibal is
- 28:52Speaker 3: like starting to because I started with Hannibal, and Hannibal
- 28:54Speaker 3: was like he started writing for U, S and L.
- 28:56Speaker 3: At this point he was on thirty Rock I think,
- 28:57Speaker 3: or writing for thirty Rock. Handa's great and so he
- 29:00Speaker 3: he was like starting to like really kind of blow up,
- 29:03Speaker 3: and we were and I was just, you know, still
- 29:05Speaker 3: at the bottom. So I didn't care for the whole thing.
- 29:08Speaker 3: But now it's been fine. I've never told Louis that.
- 29:10Speaker 3: But while I would.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Hopefully watches the show, I got that show up. You're like, texta, Hannibal,
- 29:15Speaker 1: did you know this is gonna happen.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:17Speaker 3: Yeah, well you guys fucking had it out for me.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Huh dude, yeah, Hannibal. Well, Hannibal was late because of
- 29:21Speaker 3: thirty Rock. But I remember I just remember thinking why,
- 29:25Speaker 3: like I'm the one here, yeah, and I'm just getting trashed.
- 29:30Speaker 1: If I wasn't here, there be no one else but
- 29:32Speaker 1: you on the show.
- 29:32Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, you're just saying it to Hannibal. He
- 29:34Speaker 3: was excited, hannimals on the show. Hannibal was like again
- 29:37Speaker 3: starting to kind of rise off and do good.
- 29:40Speaker 1: So it was like it was cool to have Hannibal.
- 29:42Speaker 4: Were you thinking your head at the time, I'm never
- 29:44Speaker 4: doing this again. No, I mean I you would use that.
- 29:48Speaker 3: I mean honestly, I would use it for like I
- 29:50Speaker 3: hate this dude, and like I will make sure he
- 29:53Speaker 3: knows me right, like you honestly, not to act like
- 29:58Speaker 3: a brag the or anything. But then you're at the moment,
- 30:00Speaker 3: I would always just flip it to like, all right,
- 30:02Speaker 3: I will be positive that you know. And he would
- 30:07Speaker 3: never Louis would never remember any of this, as he
- 30:11Speaker 3: probably shouldn't. He shouldn't remember it. I was really there's
- 30:13Speaker 3: no reason he would know me at the time. You
- 30:15Speaker 3: know what I mean, Like, I don't expect, but these
- 30:16Speaker 3: are moments that I would use. I would be I
- 30:19Speaker 3: was so mad about the situation. And then you're like,
- 30:21Speaker 3: all right, all right, well then this is where I'm
- 30:24Speaker 3: at in comedy, So I need to be get to
- 30:27Speaker 3: a level that like, I'm not gonna get treated like this.
- 30:30Speaker 1: And so you just use that drive to like chip
- 30:33Speaker 1: on your shoulder.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Yeah, telling yourself whatever you can whatever. Yeah, make sure
- 30:37Speaker 2: that hey, people will know some day.
- 30:39Speaker 1: But I'm laugh now.
- 30:40Speaker 3: Yeah, some other person could probably look at that situation
- 30:43Speaker 3: and be like, dude, he like said he liked you,
- 30:45Speaker 3: and maybe he was making a funny joke at the
- 30:47Speaker 3: beginning about you. It was all very sweet. In my head,
- 30:50Speaker 3: It's like, I mean, it's armageddon. I'm like, right, but
- 30:53Speaker 3: someone else could be like, no, wall, he was being nice.
- 30:55Speaker 3: What are you talking about? Like I could have read
- 30:57Speaker 3: the whole situation wrong, Yeah, but I did, and I
- 31:01Speaker 3: read it the way I read it.
- 31:02Speaker 1: And then you just like kind of go, all right,
- 31:04Speaker 1: we'll grunted.
- 31:05Speaker 2: You know, man, I wonder what you were feeling during
- 31:07Speaker 2: his like whole what if he did an hour or whatever,
- 31:09Speaker 2: just kind of sitting there and slowly like that seed
- 31:11Speaker 2: of anger started. Oh by the end of that hour,
- 31:13Speaker 2: it had to be a full plant, like you had
- 31:15Speaker 2: to be fucking ready.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Oh.
- 31:16Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, I mean I think I did
- 31:18Speaker 3: one more show. We're doing a show for his school,
- 31:20Speaker 3: for his daughter's school, like a fundraiser. Uh so, uh
- 31:25Speaker 3: because he was at We're at Carolines and he wouldn't
- 31:27Speaker 3: be because I mean he's at this point, he's doing
- 31:29Speaker 3: Massis Square Garden, so he's just doing this for a
- 31:32Speaker 3: fundraiser and uh.
- 31:34Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean it all built in.
- 31:36Speaker 3: I mean I sit there and watching him though too,
- 31:37Speaker 3: like I mean, obviously he's he's unreal like so he
- 31:40Speaker 3: was like, you know, you're sitting there watching me, and
- 31:41Speaker 3: that's you know, that's part of you that it hurts.
- 31:43Speaker 3: It is like because it's like the dude you're like
- 31:46Speaker 3: sitting there going like that's the main guy.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Like Burr I always had much Burr was.
- 31:51Speaker 3: Very nice to me and would say things and like
- 31:54Speaker 3: be very so you just would have like little parts
- 31:58Speaker 3: of you know, where you got treated by this person.
- 32:01Speaker 3: And I'm not trying to reflect on what they are
- 32:05Speaker 3: now or anything, but it was like these were little
- 32:07Speaker 3: things that you'd be like, they really stick with you.
- 32:12Speaker 4: Yeah, who's somebody now might be Bill Burr, but who
- 32:15Speaker 4: are who are who is a comic or a couple
- 32:17Speaker 4: of comics that have been like the most encouraging that
- 32:19Speaker 4: you actually think about back then when you're younger and
- 32:21Speaker 4: building these chips on your shoulders and people have kind
- 32:23Speaker 4: of pulled you aside or given you any kind of
- 32:25Speaker 4: advice or something where it's like, man, this really stuck
- 32:27Speaker 4: with me. This this comic might have no idea. Bill Burr,
- 32:31Speaker 4: this stuck with me throughout my entire career.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Yeah, Burr was. Burr was a big one because Burr
- 32:35Speaker 3: I rememberer. Uh he told me, h again it was
- 32:40Speaker 3: at Carolines and uh, because we go watch Burr like
- 32:44Speaker 3: before he blew up, and he'd be like you could
- 32:47Speaker 3: go sit in the back of the room and watch
- 32:48Speaker 3: because it wasn't sold out. And then I remember the
- 32:50Speaker 3: next year it was it was like they wouldn't even
- 32:54Speaker 3: let us come in the room because it was too
- 32:55Speaker 3: sold out. And like so but Burr like when you
- 32:59Speaker 3: just when you knew you're name, when he like he
- 33:01Speaker 3: knew he knew you, and uh, it was it was
- 33:05Speaker 3: a really big deal, and I remember him saying like,
- 33:07Speaker 3: look it, uh it takes the route that guys let
- 33:12Speaker 3: us go. It takes us a long time, but you
- 33:14Speaker 3: gain fans, and you gain fans for life. And I
- 33:17Speaker 3: remember and I always thought about that throughout my whole career,
- 33:20Speaker 3: like how like you know, like this build up it take.
- 33:23Speaker 3: I've been coming twenty years and uh, it's all just
- 33:27Speaker 3: like a slow like kind of just always going up.
- 33:29Speaker 3: Not a bad thing, but it can be frustrating. It
- 33:32Speaker 3: doesn't happen as fast as another one some one said
- 33:35Speaker 3: was like it's not as it's uh not as fast
- 33:38Speaker 3: as you want, but quicker than you think, like, and
- 33:40Speaker 3: so you had these moments that just like it kind
- 33:43Speaker 3: of takes a slow kind of thing and you got
- 33:44Speaker 3: to just kind of grind it out. And so yeah,
- 33:47Speaker 3: Burr was a big part.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Of that ad Marin.
- 33:49Speaker 3: Marin was very nice to me and uh foul and
- 33:54Speaker 3: obviously took did a lot of stuff for me. And
- 33:56Speaker 3: uh so there's just a world of people that end up,
- 34:00Speaker 3: you know, doing things that are very they're just nice
- 34:03Speaker 3: to you or there they see it and they go like,
- 34:05Speaker 3: you know, this dude's like the real deal, and you're
- 34:07Speaker 3: you know, you just need that little confidence that right then,
- 34:11Speaker 3: that like a little bit of yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 34:14Speaker 3: You want the validation from your peers. I mean that's
- 34:16Speaker 3: all that really matters, is what other comics. Yeah, that's
- 34:21Speaker 3: that's the beginning that you feel like what do they
- 34:23Speaker 3: think of us?
- 34:24Speaker 1: You know? Is that process different though?
- 34:26Speaker 2: When you like you've been doing it for twenty years,
- 34:27Speaker 2: you see a guy's been doing it for maybe five
- 34:30Speaker 2: or six years and they're trying to accelerate their career.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Do you ever sit with those guys and be like, hey,
- 34:35Speaker 2: just take your time. Like some dudes are you know,
- 34:38Speaker 2: trying to do too much too early?
- 34:40Speaker 3: I think a lot. I think sometimes people can do
- 34:45Speaker 3: they can go to they can do too much stuff.
- 34:47Speaker 3: That's like, uh, you know they're like, I'm gonna do sketches,
- 34:50Speaker 3: i wanna do a podcast, I'm gonna do stand up,
- 34:52Speaker 3: I'm gonna do impro like and it's like, well, go
- 34:54Speaker 3: be great at one thing. If you can be great
- 34:56Speaker 3: at one thing, you can do all the other things.
- 34:59Speaker 3: But you you have to you can't just be kind
- 35:02Speaker 3: of fine at a bunch of things. You need to
- 35:05Speaker 3: really learn how to be great at one thing and
- 35:06Speaker 3: that's then you know how to be great at other
- 35:08Speaker 3: things because you know what it takes to become great
- 35:11Speaker 3: or really good at one thing. So I think soon
- 35:14Speaker 3: as like younger comics can spread themself out and there
- 35:17Speaker 3: there's too much stuff that they're trying to do.
- 35:19Speaker 1: Uh, so you can see.
- 35:21Speaker 3: That I'm a big like younger comics, like, I'm a
- 35:24Speaker 3: big I'm I'm a big act person.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Like there's a lot of crowd work stuff. I've look.
- 35:29Speaker 1: I know people can do crowdworks.
- 35:32Speaker 3: It's easiest to post content on social media's the crowd
- 35:35Speaker 3: work and stuff like that. But I'm a Creating an
- 35:38Speaker 3: act is a If you can create an act, it's uh,
- 35:41Speaker 3: it's it's it's the best thing you can do, and
- 35:43Speaker 3: it's it's the most reliable and it's uh when people
- 35:48Speaker 3: come see you and d a live show, they I
- 35:49Speaker 3: mean they want to see an act, They want to
- 35:51Speaker 3: see a whole kind of thing. And stand up is
- 35:53Speaker 3: in such a great spot right now, where like we're
- 35:55Speaker 3: doing arenas and they're doing there's a lot of comics
- 35:58Speaker 3: doing arenas and doing these big kind of venues and uh,
- 36:02Speaker 3: stand ups in a pretty wonderful spot. And you know,
- 36:05Speaker 3: guys are selling out and doing big things, and so
- 36:09Speaker 3: it's you want him to.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Be like the exhausting part. You gotta create. You got
- 36:12Speaker 1: to create an act.
- 36:13Speaker 3: You gotta constant use stuff coming uh coming up with
- 36:16Speaker 3: stuff on the fly, Like you look at like Shane,
- 36:19Speaker 3: like I know the yard, you know with Shane Gills,
- 36:21Speaker 3: Like Shane Gils is like I haven't seen someone like
- 36:24Speaker 3: Shane in a long time. And uh, he's he's unbelievable
- 36:30Speaker 3: as a comedian and like seeing him like I know
- 36:32Speaker 3: his what his next special is going to be, and
- 36:34Speaker 3: it's like it's gonna be great, and he I've I mean,
- 36:39Speaker 3: I've seen the hour he's run. I didn't see the taping.
- 36:42Speaker 1: Yeah, we saw in Vegas.
- 36:44Speaker 2: Was deah, I really I think feel the smiles creeping
- 36:48Speaker 2: up on our faces the minute he said Shane like.
- 36:51Speaker 3: We means the I mean, so Shane is yeah, like
- 36:54Speaker 3: I mean, I, uh, Shane's I wasn't really there when
- 36:58Speaker 3: Shane was there.
- 36:59Speaker 1: I don't. I think I was gone. I've been a
- 37:00Speaker 1: comedy forever.
- 37:02Speaker 3: Shane's Like Shane's also reminder how old I like when
- 37:04Speaker 3: you used to realize Like I mean, he's been in
- 37:06Speaker 3: a comedy for a little bit now, and uh, he
- 37:10Speaker 3: was just he was like I remember hearing about him
- 37:12Speaker 3: when he first came out. He would go out with
- 37:14Speaker 3: Dan Soder a lot in another comic. That's an unbelievable comedian.
- 37:17Speaker 3: That's Uh, SODA's really hitting the road now. Soda is
- 37:21Speaker 3: a great comedian that if you go watch, like me
- 37:23Speaker 3: and Soda are very close friends. And like he's friends
- 37:26Speaker 3: with Mike McDaniels, so there is and uh, but SODA's
- 37:29Speaker 3: like was doing the Bonfire with Big Jay and uh,
- 37:32Speaker 3: then now he's doing comedy. He's really going to go
- 37:34Speaker 3: hit the road really hard. So Soda like, that's what
- 37:38Speaker 3: you gotta do, Like you got to go on the road,
- 37:39Speaker 3: and you gotta just stay in these and build this
- 37:42Speaker 3: stuff up. And if you build these are guys that
- 37:44Speaker 3: if you build these acts, and they will because they
- 37:46Speaker 3: their acts are gonna be you start producing hours. If
- 37:49Speaker 3: you look at Louis or Carlin or Chris Rocker all
- 37:51Speaker 3: this kind of stuff, you know, you're you're you're building
- 37:55Speaker 3: these hours that you can go specials. Gaffkin's just putting
- 37:58Speaker 3: out a new special. It's I think it's coming out
- 38:00Speaker 3: this week. Maybe it's his tenth hour. It's you know
- 38:03Speaker 3: how hard it is to write ten hours of material.
- 38:06Speaker 3: It's basically impossible. There's no one that's really that you know,
- 38:11Speaker 3: that can do it. The limited amount that can do
- 38:13Speaker 3: it is it's a very small group. And uh so
- 38:17Speaker 3: it's like, go try to be in that group, Like
- 38:19Speaker 3: that's what that's what I look at, Like, stim try
- 38:21Speaker 3: to be in that group to go produce stuff. That's
- 38:23Speaker 3: why I think some people get it's it's hard to do,
- 38:26Speaker 3: it's tiring. Uh And so then you can flip into
- 38:30Speaker 3: slide into this other stuff where it's like whether it
- 38:32Speaker 3: be like if your whole act becomes I'm not trying
- 38:35Speaker 3: to crack. Some people are so great at crawtwork, but
- 38:37Speaker 3: if your whole act becomes that, then it's like you're
- 38:41Speaker 3: not really creating, you know, it's like you're just I
- 38:43Speaker 3: think you get stuck, right Versus if you build an act.
- 38:46Speaker 3: I think an act can go because people want to
- 38:48Speaker 3: go watch the show. I mean, you can't go really
- 38:50Speaker 3: watch in an arena and just be like sitting in
- 38:52Speaker 3: the top watching a guy get made fun of, you know,
- 38:55Speaker 3: in the front row. That's not gonna come across as
- 38:59Speaker 3: fun for that person and up at the top. So
- 39:00Speaker 3: it's only as big as it can get, I think,
- 39:04Speaker 3: And so like the ones that are creating the act,
- 39:06Speaker 3: because you're never actually like working on something, Yeah, I'm
- 39:08Speaker 3: knowing your next show, thinking you can I like write,
- 39:12Speaker 3: I don't know, I'm assuming like you're just not writing
- 39:14Speaker 3: things down or trying to work on bits and be
- 39:15Speaker 3: like I'm gonna go take it here.
- 39:16Speaker 1: You're just leaning on the fact that you can do
- 39:18Speaker 1: crowd work.
- 39:19Speaker 3: You can go sit and like yeah, and I mean
- 39:20Speaker 3: that stuff's super fun. I mean it's like I and
- 39:23Speaker 3: guys are really really great at Big Jay Orgerson's. Big
- 39:26Speaker 3: J's one of the funniest people I've ever met in
- 39:28Speaker 3: my entire life. And he's the best and he does
- 39:31Speaker 3: all like he does it and not and it it it.
- 39:34Speaker 3: But Big Jay can tell stories and he's so great
- 39:37Speaker 3: at stories and all this stuff. So it's I always
- 39:41Speaker 3: to people think I'm trying I trash crowd work more
- 39:44Speaker 3: than most people, but I'm I just see with young girl,
- 39:48Speaker 3: I just hope that some still like That's why I
- 39:51Speaker 3: was so great seeing Shane And like when I saw
- 39:53Speaker 3: Shane for the first time, I came he came to
- 39:55Speaker 3: his zanies and I went down and watched him before
- 39:57Speaker 3: I really knew him, and but I've heard about him
- 39:59Speaker 3: when we've kind of like said what's up. And I
- 40:01Speaker 3: watched him and I was like, oh man, this is crazy, dude,
- 40:05Speaker 3: this is like and it was and I got very
- 40:07Speaker 3: excited because it was like, yeah, yeah, dude, like this
- 40:11Speaker 3: is this Dude's gonna be you know, obviously he's super
- 40:14Speaker 3: funny in this situation all that, but he has an
- 40:17Speaker 3: act and he goes up with an act and goes
- 40:20Speaker 3: out and destroys. I mean we saw him in Charleston
- 40:25Speaker 3: and it was like, dude, I mean, they stand up
- 40:28Speaker 3: and you could just get a standovation immediately. You saw
- 40:32Speaker 3: people are so excited to see him and he's so
- 40:36Speaker 3: fun and funny, and it just feels different, and it's
- 40:39Speaker 3: like it doesn't feel serious, and I think comedy's going
- 40:42Speaker 3: that way back that way, which is a good thing.
- 40:44Speaker 3: Where it's comedy that's like being like, yeah, dude, I'm
- 40:46Speaker 3: not no one's trying to tell you what to do
- 40:48Speaker 3: or you know, Shane's not telling you how to vote,
- 40:50Speaker 3: He's not telling you how to do any of this stuff.
- 40:52Speaker 3: It's like just being funny and like anybody can watch it.
- 40:55Speaker 3: Anybody can like just you know, it's like I'm just
- 40:57Speaker 3: having fun, man, not.
- 40:59Speaker 2: Everybody, not everybody. I had a cloth. Yeah, he's the boy.
- 41:04Speaker 2: But we saw his stand up in Austin, and shortly
- 41:07Speaker 2: after he came on the bus for the first time.
- 41:09Speaker 2: We really didn't know about Shane, like we knew I
- 41:11Speaker 2: got fired from SNEL. We know he's a comedian on
- 41:13Speaker 2: the up, and we're like, hey, we're excited to have him.
- 41:15Speaker 2: He crushed it on the podcast. He was so funny.
- 41:18Speaker 2: So then we took the time to like go watch
- 41:20Speaker 2: his YouTube special in Austin, and it is I like,
- 41:22Speaker 2: I'm by myself, laughing my ass off. And so I
- 41:27Speaker 2: go to Arizona and see this family that I lived with. Yeah,
- 41:30Speaker 2: and one day like the dad is you know Fox
- 41:33Speaker 2: News dad, he's a Fox News dad and his bit
- 41:35Speaker 2: about Fox News dads.
- 41:37Speaker 1: I was like, hey, you've got to watch.
- 41:38Speaker 2: His stand up and I put it on and in
- 41:40Speaker 2: the first five minutes is him essentially making a fun
- 41:44Speaker 2: of Fox News dads and like the wall and all that,
- 41:47Speaker 2: and I'm laughing still. It's like the fourth or fifth
- 41:49Speaker 2: time I've watched it, and he doesn't laugh, doesn't make
- 41:52Speaker 2: a noise, and he just grabs the controler and goes,
- 41:54Speaker 2: let's watch something else, and then it turns it off
- 41:56Speaker 2: without taking a vote from anybody else.
- 41:58Speaker 1: I thought, man, you got to open up. He got
- 42:00Speaker 1: to open it up a little bit, bro. I told
- 42:02Speaker 1: him that a dozen times, like, you've got to rewatch it.
- 42:04Speaker 2: But then I'll rewatch it, and then I'll hear the
- 42:05Speaker 2: Trump stuff and I'm like, hey, maybe he shouldn't watch it.
- 42:07Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe he shouldn't. Did uh your gay does down
- 42:11Speaker 1: your gay? Broh?
- 42:13Speaker 4: The military bit that he does with the Taliban when
- 42:17Speaker 4: people get to see that.
- 42:18Speaker 1: You were with him in Zanies a couple of weeks ago, right, y'all.
- 42:20Speaker 4: I bet the people at Zany's were so fired up
- 42:22Speaker 4: because he had hit us up.
- 42:23Speaker 1: It was after beer Olympics.
- 42:25Speaker 4: Yeah, he's like, hey after Yeah, the day after we're recovering,
- 42:28Speaker 4: He's like, hey, Nate and I are gonna we're gonna
- 42:31Speaker 4: go on a Zanies at like nine thirty or ten thirty.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Or something like that. I was like, oh, man, Like,
- 42:35Speaker 1: I'm like, y'all had a pretty big day. Yeah, yeah,
- 42:38Speaker 1: Like I was hurt. Bro.
- 42:40Speaker 4: He was bruised up, probably Prime telling you about he
- 42:42Speaker 4: kept showing us, He kept showing us his body. That's
- 42:45Speaker 4: more on him though, but I saw him because you
- 42:48Speaker 4: tackled in the photo.
- 42:51Speaker 3: Yeah, and like you're it's like y'all just don't like realize,
- 42:54Speaker 3: like because Shane's big too, but he's not like strong
- 42:58Speaker 3: like y'all, and so I've feel like he gets me.
- 43:00Speaker 3: It's like a big dog, Like it's a dog that
- 43:03Speaker 3: you're like that tries to play with them and then
- 43:05Speaker 3: you're like, well, I don't know if i'd play with
- 43:07Speaker 3: he goes, don't go, don't go full on.
- 43:09Speaker 4: You don't have to Labradory retrieve. Yeah, show on Instagram
- 43:12Speaker 4: man just being on top of Shane.
- 43:14Speaker 2: And because it's started off if him, like you know,
- 43:17Speaker 2: he gets there, he seems very unenthusiastic to be there.
- 43:21Speaker 1: He's like, we're gonna get buried.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Whatever it is, what it is he gets, he does
- 43:25Speaker 2: one chug like the first event was was a chug,
- 43:28Speaker 2: and then after that, anytime he lost an event, be
- 43:30Speaker 2: behind me and will just talking shit like you guys
- 43:32Speaker 2: are bad hosts.
- 43:33Speaker 1: You guys are nasty quick being that they're all laughing
- 43:35Speaker 1: at you. I'm gonna remind you they're all laughing at
- 43:38Speaker 1: you when you chug you.
- 43:38Speaker 2: I go in one of my one of the rooms
- 43:40Speaker 2: and he's there talking shit, sitting on a chair and
- 43:42Speaker 2: he's like, you, dude, you're a pussy dude.
- 43:44Speaker 1: I'll beat your ass right now.
- 43:45Speaker 2: So I start wrestling him, and the whole rest of
- 43:47Speaker 2: the day like turned into that.
- 43:49Speaker 1: And then he's talking about all the bruises.
- 43:50Speaker 2: It's like, but you gotta get out in the sun
- 43:51Speaker 2: if you don't want a bruise like that, Like he
- 43:53Speaker 2: literally has michelin Man type of skin.
- 43:56Speaker 1: Is that what you have to do? I mean, I
- 43:57Speaker 1: feel like you gotta weather it up a little bit, right,
- 43:59Speaker 1: Is that what you have to do? I think?
- 44:02Speaker 2: Well, you say older dudes, you see older dudes, You're like,
- 44:04Speaker 2: what does their skin look like?
- 44:05Speaker 1: Leather?
- 44:05Speaker 2: Yeah, Leather's tough, it's durable, it's reliable. It's like the
- 44:08Speaker 2: Chevy Silverado. If you don't ever go out in the
- 44:10Speaker 2: sun like one little hey, how you doing a little
- 44:13Speaker 2: slap on the lake, there's gonna be a welt there. Luckily,
- 44:15Speaker 2: Will got some nice thighs and he's got a little
- 44:17Speaker 2: sun tent on there.
- 44:19Speaker 1: Shane Shane just.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Welted up easy like that. I've never heard anything like that.
- 44:25Speaker 3: It's just it's like, well, you know, on bruises, just
- 44:27Speaker 3: get on the sun right there.
- 44:28Speaker 1: He just jumping the city a.
- 44:29Speaker 3: Little bit and then bruised. You just make that up, essentially,
- 44:36Speaker 3: make that out. But it gotta makes sense when you
- 44:38Speaker 3: really think about it. I guess it does. Chandler on me, dude,
- 44:42Speaker 3: Michael Chandler. I mean, he could stand up on this bus,
- 44:46Speaker 3: no problem. I have plenty of room, little guy. But
- 44:50Speaker 3: he wrestled me in the pool and I almost drowned
- 44:51Speaker 3: about six times. And the rest of the day it
- 44:53Speaker 3: was like he was being Yeah, he's a little bit.
- 44:56Speaker 3: It was his right hand man.
- 44:57Speaker 1: It was his guard.
- 44:58Speaker 3: Yea would be so strong. Oh, Dudeler's just in the
- 45:03Speaker 3: best ude, the nicest guy. You're way too nice to
- 45:07Speaker 3: be in the octagon like that.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. Yeah, he's a wild thought. Yeah, but
- 45:12Speaker 1: he like enjoys it.
- 45:13Speaker 2: We were at his, uh, his house for Labor Day
- 45:16Speaker 2: weekend last year and his pool is like four feet
- 45:19Speaker 2: fet yeah, and it's the late night. Everyone's been drinking
- 45:22Speaker 2: a little bit and I see somebody something dive into
- 45:24Speaker 2: the pool, but their feet don't go in the water,
- 45:27Speaker 2: so he essentially dove in the pool and hits his
- 45:29Speaker 2: face and comes up and I'm in the middle of
- 45:31Speaker 2: the conversation with somebody.
- 45:32Speaker 1: I look back.
- 45:33Speaker 2: I'm hey, Mike, did you just hit your face on
- 45:36Speaker 2: the floor of the pool. And he's like no, no,
- 45:38Speaker 2: He's like laughing, just having a good time, and then
- 45:40Speaker 2: all of a sudden, his face just starts bleeding everywhere,
- 45:43Speaker 2: and I'm like, you gotta go wipe your faces, like,
- 45:45Speaker 2: don't tell my wife, don't tell my wife. And I
- 45:46Speaker 2: was like, she's gone, a fine, look at you, she's
- 45:48Speaker 2: gonna fine. You look like you just got done with
- 45:49Speaker 2: a fight from forehead to chin road rash. And he's
- 45:54Speaker 2: like helped me out of the pool. So I literally
- 45:56Speaker 2: grab him by his hips, like right like here, and
- 45:59Speaker 2: I just remember thinking, he's just a fucking dense ball
- 46:01Speaker 2: of muscle. That's all this fucking dude is. Yeah, he's
- 46:04Speaker 2: just so goddamn strong. Yeah, he's so strong. Yeah, and
- 46:08Speaker 2: then he takes my big ass and throws me around
- 46:09Speaker 2: the pool like a child.
- 46:11Speaker 1: I was humbled. It was a humbling experience for me.
- 46:13Speaker 3: Forgot would be that that would be the people always wondered,
- 46:16Speaker 3: like a fight would be like you and him with
- 46:19Speaker 3: your size, even anything else.
- 46:22Speaker 2: But if I had any training, I'm sure there'd be
- 46:25Speaker 2: more of an even fight.
- 46:26Speaker 1: Yeah, no training right me? Yeah, no, I'm getting bank. Yeah,
- 46:30Speaker 1: he's gonna absolutely tee me.
- 46:31Speaker 3: I wrestled himish, Yeah, we.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Were in the oxagon one time. I did sneak him
- 46:37Speaker 1: with a spinning backfist.
- 46:38Speaker 2: Luckily for him, I stopped, yeah because my ID awareness,
- 46:41Speaker 2: But that would have probably taken him.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Oken him out. But he's got he takes me to
- 46:44Speaker 1: the ground.
- 46:45Speaker 2: It's over and he's gonna get to These legs be
- 46:48Speaker 2: not an issue at all.
- 46:49Speaker 1: He's excited about it.
- 46:50Speaker 2: No, Yeah, he sees these little sticks and he's like,
- 46:52Speaker 2: I'm gonna take advantage for sure.
- 46:55Speaker 4: But the whole whoever was at Zany's, I mean that
- 46:58Speaker 4: was a surprise, right.
- 46:59Speaker 1: Yeah, so we did.
- 47:00Speaker 3: Uh, we were hanging out because I knew he came
- 47:03Speaker 3: down because I talked to Shane quite a bit, like
- 47:05Speaker 3: Shane's going uh not that I just like talking to
- 47:08Speaker 3: him because he's I mean, he's I think he's very funny.
- 47:11Speaker 3: And then like he's just where he's at in his career,
- 47:13Speaker 3: and he's starting to like, really, I think after this
- 47:15Speaker 3: next special, I mean, Shane's going to really be uh
- 47:18Speaker 3: one of the top touring acts. I mean he already
- 47:20Speaker 3: is a very top touring act. He's gonna be one
- 47:22Speaker 3: of the top. And so he's a good dude and
- 47:25Speaker 3: just uh so we were just in town. So we
- 47:28Speaker 3: were hanging out just that day, and then I was
- 47:30Speaker 3: like I kind of was I've been kind of wanting
- 47:32Speaker 3: to go up, uh, and then I was like you
- 47:35Speaker 3: want to go up? And then He's like yeah, So
- 47:36Speaker 3: we were like let's just see and then so we
- 47:39Speaker 3: you know, it was I won the people I don't
- 47:41Speaker 3: think expected me and Shane to do. And then so
- 47:45Speaker 3: we just called Zanies and they were like yeah, and
- 47:47Speaker 3: they put on sell and sold out immediately, which we
- 47:49Speaker 3: both you never get used to that. You're both like
- 47:51Speaker 3: in your head like is this gonna sell it?
- 47:53Speaker 1: Like you think, like there's no way he thought that. Sweet.
- 47:56Speaker 1: You have a moment, dude.
- 47:57Speaker 3: You just you know, when you put yourself out there
- 47:58Speaker 3: a little bit and you're like, what if it doesn't
- 48:02Speaker 3: like imps? Yeah, like yeah, and you think like you're
- 48:05Speaker 3: like all right, me and Shane gonna do a show
- 48:06Speaker 3: and then everybody's like, we're good. I mean, because it
- 48:09Speaker 3: was in let me make a call at like four
- 48:11Speaker 3: thirty and the show's at nine or nine thirty.
- 48:13Speaker 1: How quickly did it sell out? I think in fIF
- 48:16Speaker 1: in like ten minutes or it was like it was like.
- 48:17Speaker 4: Oh, if you're going yeah, yeah, when you're in Nashville,
- 48:21Speaker 4: you have to catch that.
- 48:21Speaker 1: You're fired the fuck up getting to watch Shane and you.
- 48:24Speaker 3: It was I want to do it again because it's
- 48:26Speaker 3: like the people that I, uh, we went in there.
- 48:28Speaker 3: Actually we had did some work I needed to. I
- 48:31Speaker 3: needed to like kind of run my hour and like
- 48:33Speaker 3: pull something. I needed to just figure out some time
- 48:35Speaker 3: stuff with my hour, and then Shane just went up there.
- 48:38Speaker 3: And but we went up there together at the end.
- 48:40Speaker 3: And that's what I think people like the most is
- 48:42Speaker 3: just me and him on stage hanging out and talking
- 48:45Speaker 3: and so I mean we talked about we want to
- 48:48Speaker 3: do it again, like it was because we both really
- 48:50Speaker 3: enjoyed it, and uh, I really like him, and uh
- 48:54Speaker 3: he's a and he's a great I mean, he's a
- 48:55Speaker 3: truly great, great.
- 48:56Speaker 1: Comment possibility you guys tour together, No, I mean the
- 49:00Speaker 1: only thing I'm clean.
- 49:01Speaker 3: So it's like I couldn't the audience that comes to me,
- 49:04Speaker 3: even though a lot of people that would see me
- 49:05Speaker 3: love Shane, but I wouldn't. I mean, I my kids
- 49:08Speaker 3: can come to my show, like it's all ages, so
- 49:10Speaker 3: it's I wouldn't want to put that much, you know,
- 49:12Speaker 3: like someone if that's our part of being clean, you
- 49:15Speaker 3: kind of on your own. And the fact that like
- 49:18Speaker 3: there's only so many I mean, the comics that bring
- 49:20Speaker 3: out with me, not that they're all they're not all
- 49:22Speaker 3: clean outside of me, but they have to be clean
- 49:24Speaker 3: when they come to my shows. So outside of that,
- 49:29Speaker 3: it's it's like kind of hard to be like because
- 49:32Speaker 3: it's like my crowds are I just can't. I just
- 49:34Speaker 3: really can't do it. But so it's like that's why
- 49:37Speaker 3: a situation like that where we just like kind of
- 49:39Speaker 3: pop on last minute is because then, you know, I
- 49:42Speaker 3: think it's people that are comedy fans and right.
- 49:45Speaker 4: They completely understand that this is like an anomaly of
- 49:47Speaker 4: Nateans coming out there.
- 49:49Speaker 3: It's not like there's versus like you know, I might
- 49:51Speaker 3: have an entire my real show, like there's be an
- 49:54Speaker 3: entire family come is bring your grandparents to grandchildren, and
- 49:58Speaker 3: I'm going to be like, uh, they're ready for Shane,
- 50:00Speaker 3: and I think they think we'll find Shane very funny.
- 50:02Speaker 3: But they also might be like, we didn't expect to
- 50:04Speaker 3: hear all those words.
- 50:06Speaker 2: I mean, dude, we had that situation this past weekend
- 50:12Speaker 2: with what a Kittlefest and Laser?
- 50:15Speaker 1: Yeah you know who Uncle Laser is.
- 50:17Speaker 2: I think I've heard his name. He's a he's a
- 50:19Speaker 2: comedian out of Austin, Texa. He's yeah, he's hilarious. And
- 50:23Speaker 2: I went and saw him at Zany's a few weeks
- 50:25Speaker 2: ago and it's all, you know, pussy eating ass.
- 50:29Speaker 1: It's as dirty as a get jokes young gun like yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 50:34Speaker 2: So Kittle meets Laser at Beer Olympics and reaches out
- 50:39Speaker 2: the Lasers like, hey, I have kittle Fest coming up.
- 50:41Speaker 2: Would you like to come to it and do some
- 50:42Speaker 2: stand up like ten minutes? And Laser's like absolutely, I'll go.
- 50:45Speaker 2: And so once I caught wind of this, I caught
- 50:47Speaker 2: wind of it at the party and I have seen
- 50:49Speaker 2: his stand up and.
- 50:50Speaker 1: It's you know, me and Will are there.
- 50:52Speaker 2: A bunch of our friends are there, but there's also
- 50:54Speaker 2: his aunts, his uncles, his grandparents. Like there's an older
- 50:58Speaker 2: crowd as well, buttoned up wearing their Sunday best type
- 51:01Speaker 2: of stuff at a frat party. Essentially, I told him,
- 51:03Speaker 2: I was like, brother, have you heard Laser's stand up?
- 51:05Speaker 2: He's like, no, yo, all right, okay, and he's the
- 51:08Speaker 2: first person to go up and dude, it was probably
- 51:12Speaker 2: the most mixed review thing I've ever watched in my
- 51:14Speaker 2: life because there's like me and.
- 51:15Speaker 4: Will are like probably standing there like smiling doing this.
- 51:19Speaker 1: I mean, it's funny.
- 51:19Speaker 4: Spur a crowd this you know, rips Marlboroughs and wears Nascar,
- 51:22Speaker 4: you know what I mean.
- 51:23Speaker 3: Like it's you're not scared of hearing the language, but
- 51:25Speaker 3: then some people are can be surprised at how dirty
- 51:28Speaker 3: something can actually get.
- 51:29Speaker 2: Yeah, brings out us harmonica that talks about one's the
- 51:32Speaker 2: pussy and one's the ass and that's how he learned
- 51:34Speaker 2: to eat out chicks.
- 51:34Speaker 1: And I'm just looking at.
- 51:35Speaker 2: The grandma and she's like, oh yeah, she's looking like
- 51:38Speaker 2: leans over her husband like did he's got.
- 51:40Speaker 4: The harmonica playing that It gets him out of that
- 51:42Speaker 4: can just get you harmonica?
- 51:45Speaker 1: All right.
- 51:45Speaker 2: It was so funny because he didn't hold back. He
- 51:47Speaker 2: didn't look at the crowd and go, I should probably
- 51:49Speaker 2: tighten a couple of things up. He went full bored
- 51:51Speaker 2: right into it.
- 51:52Speaker 4: No doubt that, I fully believe his eyes glazed over
- 51:55Speaker 4: and he knew the situation he was in.
- 51:57Speaker 1: He's like, I just gotta fucking get through this. Just
- 51:59Speaker 1: got to own it. You gotta run.
- 52:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean some of you get You're like, it
- 52:02Speaker 3: is what you do. So it's like, just go do
- 52:05Speaker 3: what you do. And then you know they either get
- 52:08Speaker 3: they laugh or they won't. What was the choice for
- 52:10Speaker 3: you to go clean?
- 52:12Speaker 2: Uh?
- 52:12Speaker 3: I just started that way like, uh, it was just
- 52:15Speaker 3: how you know grows in the South, Southern Christian Like, well,
- 52:18Speaker 3: I wasn't allowed to watch anything that stuff like that,
- 52:21Speaker 3: and so my uh yeah we.
- 52:25Speaker 2: Saw that we were watching some of your bits before
- 52:27Speaker 2: that ship was hilarious.
- 52:28Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it wasn't.
- 52:29Speaker 3: I mean I wasn't allowed to watch And there's so
- 52:31Speaker 3: many movies I've missed because I just was never allowed
- 52:33Speaker 3: to watch them and never watched soft Yeah, and I
- 52:36Speaker 3: still I know, Uh, I never watched it. Uh. When
- 52:39Speaker 3: we weren't allowed to watch Simpsons, that was a big
- 52:42Speaker 3: deal when I was young. Simpsons came out. It was
- 52:44Speaker 3: like because bart was like against authority. Like it's like
- 52:48Speaker 3: a lot of parents didn't like that. He was like
- 52:50Speaker 3: this kid, did your dad watch the Simpsons?
- 52:53Speaker 1: No? No, No, one's like Sunday night Football is over Simpsons,
- 52:56Speaker 1: come on.
- 52:56Speaker 3: Yeah no, it was Yeah, it was just very I
- 53:00Speaker 3: mean I I just when I grew up, it was
- 53:02Speaker 3: just a lot.
- 53:02Speaker 1: It was just different.
- 53:03Speaker 3: There was the South is pretty strict and like what
- 53:06Speaker 3: you could do. I mean you couldn't dance or I
- 53:09Speaker 3: went to Donalds Christian Academy that they did. We didn't
- 53:12Speaker 3: have a prom. We had like a banquet, and then
- 53:14Speaker 3: you couldn't dance because it was like dancing was not
- 53:17Speaker 3: and it wasn't like the parents don't believe dancing is bad.
- 53:20Speaker 3: They believe dancing is bad. But it's like you just
- 53:22Speaker 3: would have you know back then, I mean an eighty
- 53:25Speaker 3: year old in nineteen ninety seven that she thinks dancing
- 53:30Speaker 3: is bad.
- 53:30Speaker 1: So you're kind of like not doing it to be
- 53:32Speaker 1: like kind of you can get a little space, leave
- 53:34Speaker 1: some room for the lord. Yeah, you just go, well
- 53:36Speaker 1: we would, we could, you could go.
- 53:38Speaker 3: The parents would then rent, they would rent out of
- 53:40Speaker 3: room and then everybody could have like a more of
- 53:43Speaker 3: a prom dance kind of after you would do a banquet,
- 53:46Speaker 3: like it's kind of a proper thing for like, you know,
- 53:48Speaker 3: those older people to be like we're not you know,
- 53:51Speaker 3: and then you go do the dance thing after it
- 53:54Speaker 3: was you know. So it's like I grew up. You
- 53:56Speaker 3: just grew up in under those like uh standards. So
- 53:59Speaker 3: it's like I just started. I just started clean and
- 54:01Speaker 3: then uh, I was always clean, and then you know,
- 54:04Speaker 3: once you start, it's like kind of just the only
- 54:06Speaker 3: way I go now.
- 54:07Speaker 1: Dide, you've had a glow up about you.
- 54:09Speaker 4: I remember seeing you in Nascar and you had that
- 54:11Speaker 4: your haircuts not that way, but you were laced up
- 54:13Speaker 4: with a skin fade. Yeah, compared the years past, I
- 54:15Speaker 4: mean your stand up a couple of years ago, the
- 54:18Speaker 4: way you were a couple years ago, you've aged very well.
- 54:20Speaker 1: Your skin I've noticed the entire time is phenomenal.
- 54:23Speaker 4: But you're like you were like one of the dads
- 54:25Speaker 4: where you show up at the barbecue and you're like, oh,
- 54:27Speaker 4: I hey, Nates here, this will be a fun time.
- 54:28Speaker 1: Now it's like you show up at the barbecue, I
- 54:30Speaker 1: hate Nates here. He's you guys, he's pretty fucking big ticking.
- 54:33Speaker 1: I'm going no bread. Yeah, what's what's the glow up? Like,
- 54:36Speaker 1: I'm not fun. I brought my own food. Dor Yeah.
- 54:40Speaker 1: You know you don't talk to anymore.
- 54:41Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, Yeah, it's been I mean the whole you know,
- 54:45Speaker 3: my whole run. I'm forty four, so, uh, I quit
- 54:50Speaker 3: drinking in twenty nineteen, and uh, A big part of
- 54:54Speaker 3: that was, like I was just getting I knew, I
- 54:57Speaker 3: was like starting to go to the theaters and all
- 54:59Speaker 3: this stuff. I knew if I wanted to get where
- 55:00Speaker 3: I wanted to go, I couldn't drink. Like I wasn't
- 55:03Speaker 3: able to. When I drink, it's like it's not like
- 55:06Speaker 3: I just drank at home or did all these things.
- 55:08Speaker 3: Some people can drink and they you might think you
- 55:10Speaker 3: don't have a problem because you're not like your ago
- 55:12Speaker 3: a week without drinking.
- 55:13Speaker 1: But it's like I didn't when I started.
- 55:15Speaker 3: I didn't know how to stop and like all that stuff,
- 55:17Speaker 3: And so I knew when i'd go on the road.
- 55:19Speaker 3: It's like I start Thursday night would be a fun
- 55:20Speaker 3: night out at a club, but then you drink that
- 55:23Speaker 3: night and then you're just hung over the rest of
- 55:24Speaker 3: the weekend. So then you then then you're just trying
- 55:27Speaker 3: to get through the shows because you don't feel great.
- 55:29Speaker 3: And so I was like, if I need if I
- 55:31Speaker 3: want to produce the material that I want to produce
- 55:33Speaker 3: and tour and all that, I needed.
- 55:36Speaker 1: To stop that.
- 55:37Speaker 3: So that was that was the when the first one
- 55:39Speaker 3: happened because I just stopped drinking and so I mean
- 55:42Speaker 3: just literally drinking will just.
- 55:44Speaker 1: Help a lot of things.
- 55:46Speaker 3: I still don't eat great, and I'm trying now that's
- 55:49Speaker 3: the second one I'm trying to overcome because it's like
- 55:51Speaker 3: being on the road again. It's like hard on your body.
- 55:54Speaker 3: You kind of got to treat it like not an
- 55:56Speaker 3: that like not a full athlete, but as both y'all. Like,
- 55:59Speaker 3: but it's like half of it at you have to
- 56:02Speaker 3: somewhat be so mentally you can handle all the things
- 56:06Speaker 3: that you have to go do and so you can
- 56:08Speaker 3: be in good moods and uh and be fun and
- 56:10Speaker 3: then not be like just on edge all the time
- 56:13Speaker 3: and all this. So I'm trying to work on that
- 56:16Speaker 3: as well. But yeah, man, we had a good time,
- 56:19Speaker 3: I mean the whole beginning of it. Yeah, there's a
- 56:21Speaker 3: lot of drinking I mean me, and Hannibal said we
- 56:23Speaker 3: because uh, I don't think he drinks anymore. I don't
- 56:26Speaker 3: know if he does now or not, but he didn't
- 56:28Speaker 3: a few years ago and we were talking about a
- 56:30Speaker 3: Hannibal said something that always stuck with me. Uh he
- 56:33Speaker 3: was like, you know, he goes, I look at it.
- 56:34Speaker 3: He's like, we put up some good numbers because we
- 56:37Speaker 3: did good because a lot of times you get drinking,
- 56:38Speaker 3: everybody thinks like, wow, you're not being fun. You're like, no,
- 56:41Speaker 3: I did all I did what you're doing right now,
- 56:43Speaker 3: I did. I already did all this. You just weren't.
- 56:45Speaker 3: You were not old enough to be there. But yeah,
- 56:47Speaker 3: you're like I already went and did all this and
- 56:49Speaker 3: it was a fun time and I had a great
- 56:51Speaker 3: bad And then there's a you just hit a point
- 56:53Speaker 3: where you get older and you're like about forty, start
- 56:56Speaker 3: going like all right, You're like, I mean, just stuff
- 56:58Speaker 3: starts hurting like you just like I can't wake up
- 57:00Speaker 3: and feel like this every day, Like this is brutal.
- 57:03Speaker 1: It's a brutal feeling that fog.
- 57:05Speaker 2: That fog is terrible, but it's the most fun in
- 57:08Speaker 2: the during it, for sure.
- 57:09Speaker 1: It is the most fun.
- 57:10Speaker 3: I mean the Senior's Beer Olympics like that looked like
- 57:13Speaker 3: it's the It's a wonderful, wonderful time.
- 57:16Speaker 4: It was awesome. It was so much awesome. Man, ever
- 57:19Speaker 4: want to come out of retirement for a day. Yeah,
- 57:21Speaker 4: I know, I'm more than welcome.
- 57:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 57:23Speaker 3: There's always moments where you're like, you know, I hung
- 57:26Speaker 3: out this weekend that I feel like I could get you.
- 57:28Speaker 3: Uh not to his football because I did the American
- 57:31Speaker 3: Century Championship. John Elway, John, I we're meeting John Alway,
- 57:35Speaker 3: who's back on Alway is a good time.
- 57:38Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
- 57:38Speaker 3: And I was telling Dance Soda is a giant. Uh
- 57:41Speaker 3: John Alway fantas. He's from Denver. And I was like
- 57:44Speaker 3: telling Dan, I was like, John Elway could make you
- 57:46Speaker 3: quit drinking, come out of retirement drink. Dan doesn't drink either,
- 57:50Speaker 3: and uh because he's like just like a good like
- 57:53Speaker 3: You're like, this.
- 57:53Speaker 2: Dude's the most fun. And you don't think have you
- 57:56Speaker 2: met him? No, I've never met John, but I hear
- 57:59Speaker 2: a bunch of story. You don't ever like you.
- 58:02Speaker 3: Think he's gonna be His son is awesome to his
- 58:04Speaker 3: son's a big Shane Gills fan. Uh, his son's great,
- 58:07Speaker 3: big comedy fan, roight, big fan of you guys, Like.
- 58:11Speaker 1: Does Shane know that his son's a big Shane Gills fan?
- 58:13Speaker 3: I think so, I don't know you, Yeah, Shane nuts
- 58:16Speaker 3: over football players and you know. But he was like
- 58:21Speaker 3: someone that you're like, you know, this dude's the bad
- 58:24Speaker 3: I mean, you just think he's gonna be stowing like this.
- 58:26Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 58:26Speaker 3: It's John Elway, so you just you just think he's
- 58:29Speaker 3: gonna be Like you meet him, was like how you
- 58:31Speaker 3: doing this? And you're like, this guy is a good
- 58:35Speaker 3: time man, just like what a lot of charisma, A
- 58:38Speaker 3: lot of charisma, like laughs, a lot you say anything,
- 58:41Speaker 3: He's laughed at it. Fun Like you just feel like
- 58:43Speaker 3: you're gonna just be with him. And he'd be like
- 58:45Speaker 3: You're like yeah, he's like they take the boat out
- 58:47Speaker 3: and you're I didn't go on the boat, but he's
- 58:49Speaker 3: like he's just he's talking about it, like the boat
- 58:51Speaker 3: showed me the boat. I think I could have gone
- 58:54Speaker 3: out on this boat. But it was just like it
- 58:57Speaker 3: was just like a very surprising meeting someone that you're
- 58:59Speaker 3: like like, oh, dude, you're not what I thought. Like
- 59:03Speaker 3: you realize Peyton Maning going to Denver, You're like, yeah, dude,
- 59:07Speaker 3: Like yeah, yeah, put anybody in the room with John Denver,
- 59:11Speaker 3: John Elway, You're gonna be like, yeah, I'll go.
- 59:13Speaker 4: Dude, you're the best, best fucking cool man. Who else? Like,
- 59:17Speaker 4: who else have you met? This's been like, oh dude,
- 59:19Speaker 4: you are fucking because that is the best feeling.
- 59:22Speaker 2: Like we talked about the people you meet and you're like, man,
- 59:24Speaker 2: don't meet your heroes, but the people you meet and
- 59:26Speaker 2: they're either exactly like you thought they would be or
- 59:27Speaker 2: even better, like you're saying, yeah, that's.
- 59:29Speaker 1: The best feeling.
- 59:30Speaker 3: A lot of like Cable guys like that, Larry Cable guy,
- 59:34Speaker 3: Larry's awesome, bro.
- 59:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I would have loved to join you in that enthusiasm.
- 59:39Speaker 4: He's obviously a massive Nebraska fan. So when we had
- 59:43Speaker 4: our one of our tailgates last year at Nebraska, he
- 59:46Speaker 4: came on the h we had the podcast out there
- 59:48Speaker 4: at Nebraska, and he's just the nicest fucking dude.
- 59:51Speaker 1: Man.
- 59:51Speaker 4: He's just so funny, just salt of the earth, exactly
- 59:54Speaker 4: like what you kind of see on camera, and even better,
- 59:58Speaker 4: just like you're hanging out with him.
- 59:59Speaker 3: Yeah, that that's the part that you want is like
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: when you can see when you meet someone in there
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: like super nice and they're just it seems like they're
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: like a girl. I met Devonte Adams this week and
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: he was awesome. He was like kind of a funny dude,
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: like uh and just like kind of quiet and but
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: just my experience with him was very nice to talk
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: to and like it was just super fun. Vrabel was there.
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: I met very Rabel is a good time. Yeah, you
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: see why you want to Like, yeah, you can see
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: why you want to play for like you get it.
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: Like that's what's interesting is like when you when you go, oh,
- 1:00:34Speaker 3: this is why people like like you and one of
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: like because you're like you're you're he just feels like
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: he'd be one of he'd be you, Like he'd be
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: like if you played for him, you'd be like he's
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: just you.
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: There's a totally different dynamic though when you're his player
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: like him. Now, Yeah, I thought this is great. Like
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: we had him on the podcast very recently. He came
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: on yesterday.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: I know, but I'm trying to play because this this
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: comes out or whatever.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: Ye on yesterday and the three of us have a
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: group chat me and Will and Braves and It's our
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: podcast was every bit of that group chat. Like it
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: can be awkward at times, it's funny at times he
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: gets serious, like you just don't he like, Rabel's a
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: guy that dictates how the conversation is going to go,
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: especially when you're the player. Yeah, in the first year,
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: we said twenty eighteen, he's got.
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: That alpha energy and you could just tell, like the
- 1:01:20Speaker 4: dynamic even on him on yesterday, you just you know,
- 1:01:23Speaker 4: there's still those nerves of like, you know, is.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: He Yeah, we're growing mad for this. Yeah.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: Will's turning thirty thirty three this year, right, Yeah, I
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: literally turned thirty two in less than a week. Yeah,
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: and we're there's literally nerves where I'm being around the
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: other man like hey, yeah, but he can't hurt us anymore.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: We can't. There's nothing he can do.
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: We started joking about fighting that I really thought, is
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: he does He's legit for the second Yeah, yeah, no,
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: but he is like a good time.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: Rabel has got to be the best time. Yeah, he's
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: a guys guy, that dynamic, you know.
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: I but I've always liked the New York comedy had
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: a dynamic like that, Like you always like the people
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: that started that were the bigger comics above you, and
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: not even necessarily like fame wise, but just the you know,
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: there's guys that started before you. There's always a there's
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: always like a respect that you're like, you know, like
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: you just the older guys. I remember Robert Kill, Bobby
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: Kelly who does uh Spoko does a Bonfire now with
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: Big Jay. Bobby's like so funny and uh but Bobby's
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: like a guy that like I feel like Bobby told
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: me to go do something, I would just have to
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: go do it because he was He's you know, he
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: just looked up to him so much. He started out
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: open for him a lot and did this stuff. So
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: like the I've always liked that, like kind of like
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: in stuff. I think it's a good thing.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: Yeah, they're like a.
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: Like a natural just subtle power dynamic that happens that
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: you just never really get.
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: Talks about Keith Robinson, Like Keith Robinson was in is
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: in New York Comic that was like with he you know, Jay,
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: Big Jay and Kevin and they would he did he
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: helped them a lot, and uh, you know, Kevin Art's
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: obviously the most famous person on the planet and Keith
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: is most people would not know who Keith is. But
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: I think Kevin's gotta feel like a little you know.
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: It's like there's a little like Keith could Keith and
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: say whatever he wants to Kevin, like the situation Vrabel
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: could sit down and say whatever he wants to you whatever,
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: Like You're still gonna feel like you gotta just take it,
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: like yeah.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: And that hurts, like it hurts to agree with that,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: but it's totally true.
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: Got them pizza feet And I'm just like, yeah, yeah,
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: he did say that to you.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, who's somebody.
- 1:03:28Speaker 4: Who's somebody that you've met that you've been absolutely fired
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: up to fucking meet.
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: I met Tiger Tiger Woods. That's a solid one.
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: And that was before or after after again, very humble,
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: very cool. Uh tell you what, people just need.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: A little, People need a little.
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: I can tell you if you think someone's like getting
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: a little too high on the horse, uh yeah there
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: could be.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: I got the you got the pill to make that
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: all better. Uh. But he was Yeah, he was awesome.
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: I mean yeah, he just felt like I did a
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: corpor gig for the PGA or something. It was him
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: and Rory were there. This was and uh, I didn't
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: get to meet Rory. I would like to meet Rory,
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: and uh, I just didn't get to meet him. But
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: Rory seemed very nice.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: And then but Tiger was there and they I was
- 1:04:12Speaker 3: like kind of like it'd be really cool to meet him,
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: and they were the lady was like, yeah, we're having
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: and he kind of came up and I just got
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: to briefly talk to him and then we just talked
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: about it. He went on the Tonight Show and talked
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: about Foulon and uh, kind of quick we gotta I
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: got a picture like that's not just me and him,
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: it was just taking picture of kind of the moment
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: and uh, it's the best canda. Yeah yeah, where you
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: like just take a bunch of preak like I don't
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: I don't want to ask make sure if your camera
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: out Yeah yeah yeah. And so that that, I mean,
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: that was like one that I was like, you know,
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: Jordan would be another one. Uh, but Tiger was probably
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: the is the biggest for me because Tiger I watched
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: his whole thing, like when he turned pro. I mean,
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: I'm he's forty eight or nine or something like that,
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: and I was just at the age of like watching
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: that guy's whole existence. So yeah, Tiger was one that
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: where you're like, you're like, this is crazy, dude. Yeah,
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: I'd imagine meeting like Tom Cruise would be like that.
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: There's like big ones.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: Yeah, he's very nice. Yeah, he's just nice. He's someone
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: that you should want. You should meet Tom Hanks. Yeah,
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: one of those like he's like one though that you're like,
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: go you like if you if it's like if you
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: saw him out and someone's again, don't meet your hero,
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: like you can go meet Tom Hanks. That dude's a
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: good dude. Yeah, he's a he was a very very nice,
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: very nice.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: I wonder what Tom Cruise is about.
- 1:05:26Speaker 4: I wonder what he's I've heard scientology, right, Yeah, it's
- 1:05:31Speaker 4: like that's like I do movies and then scientologist.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: That's the thing.
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: I'd be scared to meet him because I would probably
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: become a scientist.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: Have you been on You seen the Scientology building on
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: eighth Avenue? No, I haven't.
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: There's one right on eighth you go down and every
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: once in a while there'll be a little thing out
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: there that says free personality test. And I've been tempted
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: to just pull over.
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a there's I get nervous signs like they're
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: they're good, dude, and I think they could go in
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: there and you're like, all right, all right they can
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: they Yeah, they go yeah, if you if you just
- 1:06:00Speaker 3: have any which I think is how you should live
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: with any question of anything, just question everything a little bit.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: And then you go see they go into the scientology
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: and then Tom Cruise was in there. You're like that
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: dude's the most charming person the people that I've met him.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: I knew a guy that.
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: Worked as a director and a writer and they had
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: him writing on one of the Mission Impossibles a while ago,
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: and they said that they told him when he when
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: they met him, they go, look, when you meet Tom,
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: they go just say, no, you're gonna think y'all are
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: going to be best friends. Like that's how charming he is.
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: Is He's just he takes over and you were just like,
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: this dude's the best and you're like, we're gonna You're
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: like we might be hanging out every day every home. Yeah,
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: and that's just what it's going to feel like, because
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: that's that's what he is. It takes that kind of
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: charm to be that, and then they were he was
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: he went into a hotel room on the top floor.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: Uh, they rented the whole floor out. You know.
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: I mean you can that guy like is a walking Walmart,
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: Like he's a billion dollars. Like it's just like you
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: have to be like and I think he tries to
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: get on a motorcycle alone and just drive off, and
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: you're like, you're like, you're like the most important person alive. Dude,
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: You're here, all these movies, all this stuff. You can't
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: just run away from us like that.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:07:17Speaker 4: Uh, but you know, like when he gets on a motorcycle,
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: like just all of a sudden, music starts playing too,
- 1:07:21Speaker 4: like as.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: He drives off.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: Right, So my buddy said, he's sitting in uh, he's
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: sitting in uh the hotel.
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: So they tell him that.
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: So Tom Cruise is here and he's facing the window
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: and they're sitting on the couch looking at Tom and
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: they're talking about like, all right, we'll go do this
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: for mission. But then we're going Tom's kind of going
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: to whole thing. And then they see Tom start to
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: squint because the sun was setting, so the sun's coming
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: in the window. It start a squid. So then they
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: say he says, Tom just pushes.
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: A button on. I don't even know.
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: It might have been like an iPad, or it might
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: have been something pushes a button. Two people come in
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: with sunglasses. He's got an option, so they both have
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: a pair, and he just looks and then grabs this
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: pair and puts it on, and but just keeps talking
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: the whole time and then never says, yeah, yeah, those
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: are my sunglasses people, or whatever you should say to
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: go like hey, what was that?
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: Like h light diversion people.
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: It doesn't make sense, Like you're like, are they just
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: back there? Does that button just for sunglasses? Like you
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: have people just for sunglasses? Or like how would they know?
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: They came out of a room offered two percent of caues.
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: He's still talking and just goes puts it on. They leave,
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: and then he still just keeps going. You know, like
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: if you're in there and you just kind of like
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: look around, nobody says.
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: That you're gonna ask, I would say, like, hey, who
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: were they?
- 1:08:38Speaker 4: It's probably one of those moments where you look around,
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: you see everybody still die.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: Then you're kind of just too scared to say anything.
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: He's I think he's taken over the situation. He's talking
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: so much, and he's probably and he's into it, like
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: cause he's like doing these stunts.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: Yeah, he does all this stuff himself, so he's.
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: Like, you know, and you're just kind of like caught
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: up in it, and you might almost expect it.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: To be honest, you might sit there and go, yeah, yeah,
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: that's what. They should have brought.
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: Him sunglasses, And that's insane that y'all made him push
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: the button.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: You should have You should have just felt it. Somebody
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: just got fired.
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: You know what, it's five o'clock, the sun's starting to set.
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: Let's go be around Tom with sunglasses and then you
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: just get on that side, you could. I remember one
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: time talking to the super rich dude that said like
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: he was running by a house and uh, he said,
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: you know, because the master bedroom only had one bathroom
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: and he said that like that, and I was like, what,
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: like master bedrooms only like they have two full bathrooms.
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: And but then the moment when they say it, you're like, yeah, dude,
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: screw that house.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: Are you out of your mind? Why were you embarrassing?
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: Is that that they build a house with just one
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: bathroom in the master bedroom.
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: To thure foot house.
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: Yeah, he's like, they didn't have two bathrooms in the
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: master bedroom. You're like, well that's I'm glad you didn't
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: buy it. Yeah, you know what they deserve. Yeah they sell.
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's a good point. Yeah.
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: You start realizing, like my stupid house, I got one
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: bathroom in the master bedroom, and I.
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: Look like an idiot. I hope God he never comes over.
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: I hope. Yeah.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: Yeah, you can't invite him. Yeah, man, that's crazy. You
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: look at the window.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, changed my bathroom. Yeah.
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: I didn't even know that was a possibility to want
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: two bathrooms in Like that's a dream that you're like,
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: I didn't know you I could even have that dream.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: But now I'll think about every day when I'm doing
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: like two full bathrooms. When I look at two bathrooms
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: two showers in the master bedroom didn't make any sense.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: Well that's unpractical.
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: And next time you look at your dumb wife brushing
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: your teeth next to you, like you should be in
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: your own bathroom, and you're just furious, like you go,
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: what are we doing all scrammed in here?
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: Yeah? Pissed off? Yeah, you gotta share a scene ma'am,
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: we gotta I know, I feel like we have before
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: hit the first one.
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah for our dude Wipes question. Yeah, partnered
- 1:10:47Speaker 4: with dude Wipes. What is the shittiest moment of your career?
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: Uh, there's been a bunch. Uh it's trying to think.
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: I bombed on a cruise once and and so you're
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: on the boat with these people and get off. I remember,
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: like I had to do three shows, and so I
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: do the first two shows. One show goes the point
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: when you would do them you have to do three
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: shows of half an hour, so you'd have to do
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: a half hour clean, half hour dirty, and then you'd
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: have another show that's like a half hour. And so
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: this is a show actually that A lot of crowd
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: work comics that can do crowd work are very good
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: at cause it's like that's kind of the best thing
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: because you can just go do talk to the crowd.
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: Every every crowd's different, every show is different because you're
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: talking to the crowd. But for me, I didn't have
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: like enough, I'm not a CrowdWork person. I didn't know
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: how to do it, and then I'm not great at it,
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: and then I won't add material so I go do
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: it and like, I just bomb, like because they've all
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: heard the jokes, because I've only had like basically an hour.
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: So I split them up into the two of those
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: thirty minute shows, and then the third show, I was like, well,
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: maybe those people won't come back. Well they come back
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: and they just and I wrote. I remember after show,
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: I wrote an el later with guys and they were saying,
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: they were like, yeah, there's two comics and then go
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: this one comic was great. The other guy they loved him,
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: and to me, they go, that other guy is like
- 1:12:10Speaker 3: not good. And I mean, I'm my shoulder is touching
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: that man who's saying that, But I have like my
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: hat on and not that you even know me. So
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: that was a pretty tough. Like I was in uh,
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: I was in an elevator in the ocean. I think
- 1:12:22Speaker 3: it's a moment that you would think you'd be happy
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: and you just I mean, I'm just and I just
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: got off whatever floor was the next floor.
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: I just walked off.
- 1:12:31Speaker 4: God, that would be brutal. He something about being on
- 1:12:34Speaker 4: a cruise ship. He did, he did some shows and
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: he bombed and he's on the elevator and the guy
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: the gentleman next to Tim. There's a you know, crowd
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: on the elevator. He's wearing a hat so they can't
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: they don't recognize who he is. And they're talking about how,
- 1:12:47Speaker 4: you know, this one comic they loved him, and then
- 1:12:49Speaker 4: but that last one, like he just.
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: Wasn't very good and he said, he's he's just standing there.
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: That's tough. You ever get over that? Uh?
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: Yeah, you remember, you know, it's always funny afterwards because
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: you're like, you're glad it happens like, uh, you're glad
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: in the sense that it's a funny story to tell,
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: like you know, Uh, but yeah, it's pretty tough.
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: I'll tell you.
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: One of the ones that hurt me the most was
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: I auditioned for Last Comic Standing when Gialdo hosted, and
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: uh uh and Craig Robinson was on it because he
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: had his he had a movie. Very funny joke that
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: Girado said. Craig Robinson had the movie a hot Tub
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: time Machine and uh, and so write and me, you see,
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: because I got a new movie, hot Tub time Machine
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: And Drawda goes, oh, what's it about? Uh, this is
- 1:13:32Speaker 3: very funny because obviously it's about a hot tough time
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: There's no way to describe it but hot tough time machine.
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: Uh So when I auditioned for that, I did not
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: get it.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: And I thought I always thought like being clean.
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: I was like, oh, I'm gonna get like all the
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: you know, I'm the only one clean, so like I
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: can do this stuff. And I didn't get it, and
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: they and I and I never got close with Last
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: Comments Standing and that that was a one that that
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: was like a one that was like it hit me
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: and I.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: Like it hurt.
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: It really hurt because you just think like, all right,
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: i'm gonna go on this show, I'm gonna do this.
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: You kind of get your career kind of mapped out
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: a little bit. You think all this stuff's gonna happen,
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: and then it just doesn't happen.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just.
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: Another but man, when it, you know, when it, when
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: you're in it, you're like, what am I doing?
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: Dude? Like it's so frustrating. Yeah.
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: Then our last one sponsored by Twisted Tea, all right,
- 1:14:24Speaker 4: the best.
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: It's unfortunately you don't drink anymore because those things right there. Yeah,
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: I missed their good time, the whole that kind of thing.
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: U the celtzer kind of kind of thing. I I
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: PA is being introduced as my That was I pas
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: were my final.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: That was when it was like I got a final
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: adult stage, is I pas.
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: That's what I was like, I gotta I gotta talking
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: about hops and how things takes all.
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: I don't even know how it's all made.
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: But I pas have so much alcohol and then so
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: if you drank them like bud lights, you know, it's
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: like it's just like I got caught up in that
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: where you're like you're having you're just getting smashed and
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: like blackout. I when I pas started becoming around that
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: was that was the end. That's when I was like,
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: all right, that's gonna fit perfect into this question, dude.
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: Our question for you drunkest you've ever been?
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: Were the scariest.
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: You seat you up and you're like, man, I got
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: a fucking correct You wake up in that shay, you
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: have to dim the lights, get a quill and some
- 1:15:20Speaker 4: ink out, dude, and write some free hand poetry while
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: the candles are lit.
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: That type of stuff.
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: Uh. I mean some of this I've talked about on
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: my in my act. So usually anything that I've I've
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: already talked about it was, uh, I mean one was
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: at uh uh I guess an Indian casino or Native
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: American casino.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: Uh canceled Washing football team casinos Washington Football. Ye, why
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: didn't they keep Washington football.
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: It's a good name and the command good Washington Football.
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: I was like, you may just think, well every team
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: we should be the Tennessee football team.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I was a stupid makes it easy yeah. Uh.
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: But so I went to that and I I remember
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: it was like three hour drive from Phoenix and so
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: I was out in Arizona.
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: I drove to this casino to do this little one
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: night er.
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: I mean, this is you know, I'm nobody making no
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: money talking stickers at uh.
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: I wish this was not even that.
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: This is I think I did some other kind of
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: it was like it was something I was making one
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: hundred and fifty dollars. But it was like, you know what,
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: I'll just go drive to the middle of nowhere, Arizona
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: and then go back to Phoenix and then fly home.
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: So I go out and I was like, oh, it'll
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: be fun, and uh you know, I'm thinking like I'll
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: just go to bed early, get up, have a nice
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: drive back because I'm like, I'm not gonna be hanging
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: out with anybody, and then so we get doing the
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: show that I'm hanging on, Likexino. Then you just end
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: up meeting like some fun dudes, and next thing you know,
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: it's like it's five in the morning and I'm just
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: trying to go to bed. I gotta get up at
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: like eight to drive three hours back. So I get
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: up and I'm driving back and I mean, I'm so
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: I feel so awful and uh. And when I and
- 1:16:59Speaker 3: I have this in my joked, I walked out at
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: the casino and there's like wolf like uh and this
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: really happened. There's a wolf like in my path to
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: go to my car in the parking lot and just
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: sitting there staring at me. And I was like, uh,
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: you know, like I don't know what this is. Like
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: it made me really dude, and I swear it was
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: a wolf. And so I was like, this is insane,
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: you know, because I was like, I don't you know
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: what is that?
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: Is it a wolf?
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: Is it the guy I hung out with last night?
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: I don't know? And so I went, yeah, he turned
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: into a wolf, and now he's like, good day, sir. Yeah,
- 1:17:40Speaker 3: So I just went back inside, and I remember I
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: just rolled my stuff back in the casino and I
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: just stood there. I'm not talking to anybody like it's
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: and I just kind of stood inside for a second.
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: And then I went back out and then the wolf
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: was gone. And so then I went to my car
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: and then I drove back and uh. And then when
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: I was driving back, Uh, I'm in the I mean
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: middle of nowhere, Arizona, just on a road alone, and
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: a helicopter lands in front of me and picks up,
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: like a life support some guy on the side of
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: the road and then takes him and flies and I
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: have to wait for that to happen.
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: And so and I'm so hungover that I'm like annoy it.
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: I'm like, here we go, like you know, I mean,
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: I've never had to stop for helicopter in my life.
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: I don't expect to ever do it ever again. And
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: I handled that moment hungover, just like and want look
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: at this every day every day, every helicopter every day
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: there goes every day. I'm looking at that. I'm not
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: I should have video of this, I should have pictures.
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: I didn't do any of that. I just was like, hey,
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: we I was like, can I get around him? Like
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: it's a hell. I mean, he's just in the middle
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: of that. There's no buildings, there's just me, this helicopter.
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: There's five us and it's the helicopter people, that guy
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: and me and uh and then finally took off and
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: I kept driving and so that was like, that was
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: a tough one that happened. I I I think so,
