Transcript
- 0:00Eric Rutin: Hello, fellow Sleuthers, you are in for a treat.
- 0:03Eric Rutin: Today I am talking with SkovbyeAli Govey, who played Maggie's daughter Abby on arguably the best Hallmark Mystery series ever Gourmet Detective and this Friday she is the protagonist in the new Hallmark Mystery, gilded Newport Mysteries, where she plays Emma in this trip back to 1895, in Hallmark's first ever period mystery.
- 0:37Eric Rutin: This is awesome and the next half hour is going to be truly delightful.
- 0:45Eric Rutin: I promise you you do not want to miss this on Hallmark Mysteries and more.
- 0:51Eric Rutin: This podcast was created by fans or fans, and is not affiliated with or sponsored by Hallmark or the Hallmark Channel.
- 1:02Eric Rutin: Okay, so this is a day that I've been waiting for for a very long time.
- 1:09Eric Rutin: While we're all excited for Gilded Newport Mysteries, there's another reason why I am so excited to be talking Ali Skovbye .
- 1:18Eric Rutin: How are you doing today?
- 1:20Ali Skovbye: I am amazing.
- 1:21Ali Skovbye: How are you?
- 1:22Eric Rutin: Great.
- 1:22Eric Rutin: And now here's the reason why we are huge Gourmet Detective fans and you are in Gourmet Detective as Abby the daughter.
- 1:34Eric Rutin: Anyone who follows the podcast or our Instagram knows also that Brooke Burns is my Hallmark crush, so she was your mom, so you know Brooke Burns.
- 1:46Eric Rutin: It is fantastic.
- 1:47Eric Rutin: But then Dylan Neal has also been a guy who's just been fantastic and he talks to me all the time and has given me back insights into what it takes to make movies and all that.
- 1:58Eric Rutin: But he also doesn't want to come on the podcast because he's like I don't trust myself to not say things I shouldn't.
- 2:05Eric Rutin: So you are first Gourmet Detective alum to be on the podcast, so excited to have you here.
- 2:13Ali Skovbye: I am honored, very happy to be here.
- 2:15Ali Skovbye: Thanks for liking the movies.
- 2:17Eric Rutin: So we are going to start with that.
- 2:18Eric Rutin: So what was it like working with the two of them and on that set?
- 2:23Ali Skovbye: Oh my gosh, so much fun.
- 2:24Ali Skovbye: I mean I feel like I grew up on that set.
- 2:26Ali Skovbye: We did four movies and I started when I was like 11 or 12 and then we did the last one.
- 2:34Ali Skovbye: I was like 17 and almost an adult, so it's kind of a whirlwind.
- 2:41Ali Skovbye: But so much fun.
- 2:42Ali Skovbye: I mean both Brooke and Dylan are like two of the loveliest, kindest, most down to earth, amazing people that you'll meet, so really it was just like making movies with people you love.
- 2:53Eric Rutin: Like it doesn't get much better.
- 2:55Eric Rutin: That is awesome.
- 2:56Eric Rutin: That is awesome.
- 2:56Eric Rutin: So, like I say, it was great because, like I say, you were in the mystery and we are a mystery podcast and so you got to come back into the mystery world, so it was really really good to have you come full circle there.
- 3:10Eric Rutin: So, just one last thing for the gourmet detective Is there any like good behind the scenes type story or something like that that us, as fans, may not know, that you can share with us?
- 3:24Ali Skovbye: Oh, let me think.
- 3:26Eric Rutin: I know it's going back in time a little bit like pre-COVID and everything like that, which doesn't work.
- 3:31Ali Skovbye: I know which is a different life now.
- 3:33Ali Skovbye: It feels like man, I mean.
- 3:35Ali Skovbye: I feel like there's got to be no-transcript.
- 3:40Ali Skovbye: We had so much fun on that movie.
- 3:41Ali Skovbye: We I mean there was on the last movies we were really trying to figure out schedules and I was almost not gonna be in the last movie with scheduling, conflicts and working on other things and we were kind of going back and forth and we like had this hilarious day of like I was working on something else in the morning and then I got picked up and I went straight there the next day and I did like a half half day kind of thing and we just had like just the most hilarious, like delusional day.
- 4:11Ali Skovbye: It was like towards the end of their shoot and they were exhausted and we had this like really fun, kind of just like one of those scenes where you cannot stop laughing to save your life.
- 4:20Ali Skovbye: Like it was just like it was like such an easy scene to do and there was barely anything to do and we like barely get through it without much of your laughing, which is always just a super fun.
- 4:31Eric Rutin: Well, it is great to know that two of our Hallmark heroes are good people as well, but pretty much everyone in the Hallmark universe is, so we're talking about why you know and worked with these great Hallmark stars you also, though you're 21, right?
- 4:51Ali Skovbye: Yeah.
- 4:51Eric Rutin: Yeah, and you worked with some A-Listers.
- 4:53Eric Rutin: I mean you got Michelle Pfeiffer, Ashton Kutcher, Catherine Heigl, Tofer Grace.
- 4:57Eric Rutin: I mean you've scored pretty good.
- 5:01Eric Rutin: So how does like a kid from your front you're from Vancouver, right yeah, Like, how did a kid from Vancouver to score with, like stepping up, like your phone must have the best contact list ever.
- 5:14Ali Skovbye: Man, I mean at the start I want to say it was just luck and being a cute kid kind of.
- 5:22Ali Skovbye: But yeah, I mean I have an older sister and she's an actor as well and she's super outgoing and bubbly, and she was just at a Vancouver festival with my parents and an agent came up and gave her a card Like super happenstance, super, out of nowhere.
- 5:39Ali Skovbye: And then, being the younger sibling, I obviously wanted to do everything my older sister was doing and it kind of went from there like super, yeah, super happenstance.
- 5:50Ali Skovbye: I'm very, very lucky and I trained a lot, Like from kind of the moment I started.
- 5:56Ali Skovbye: I've always been training and yeah, I don't know, I don't know, but you're not staring in these like little tiny things with whoever.
- 6:06Eric Rutin: I mean, you've got some star power there, so that's pretty impressive.
- 6:11Eric Rutin: So all right, all right.
- 6:14Eric Rutin: So the other thing is I'm just looking at your IMDB is you are a tourist, and I'm not really too into the whole astrology thing, but the one thing I do know is my wife and daughter are both tourists, and the thing I know about you is you're supposed to be very stubborn and very determined, of which both of them do exhibit that trait.
- 6:36Eric Rutin: I am a Libra, and so I don't make a decision to save my life and address my wife crazy.
- 6:41Eric Rutin: So are you a true tourist?
- 6:43Eric Rutin: Are you like, defined by whatever, I don't know what else tourists are known for?
- 6:50Ali Skovbye: I think I am.
- 6:50Ali Skovbye: I will say I'm super indecisive, like super indecisive, but I am very stubborn, very strong headed.
- 6:59Ali Skovbye: I feel like everything I've read about tourists is like they love to sleep and eat and can confirm I do love both of those things very much as well.
- 7:09Ali Skovbye: Yeah, I'm not huge into astrology either, but the only things I know about my specific sign and I do think that I do exhibit many of the traits- and everyone in my life is a tourist as well, like my best friends are tourists, my boyfriends are tourists, my sisters are tourists.
- 7:26Ali Skovbye: It's just a tourist.
- 7:27Ali Skovbye: Tourists is yeah.
- 7:29Eric Rutin: I'm there, right there, with you.
- 7:30Eric Rutin: I've got a whole slew of them as well, that I know.
- 7:32Eric Rutin: So okay, so we're here to talk about the Gilded Newport Mysteries.
- 7:37Eric Rutin: One of the things that's really cool about this movie and the casting for you is when Hallmark usually adapts a book and it has the young heroine, they kind of age them up to put in one of the, you know, the more popular Hallmark actors who's been around a little bit.
- 7:53Eric Rutin: And this one they held true and they cast you and they went with the Emma in the books is 21,.
- 7:59Eric Rutin: You're 21.
- 8:00Eric Rutin: So that's pretty darn cool.
- 8:03Eric Rutin: Like it's really like trend setting for Hallmark.
- 8:07Eric Rutin: I mean whole brand new thing.
- 8:08Eric Rutin: How does that feel to like we talked before?
- 8:11Eric Rutin: You know you're Abby, the kid in the Gourmetia types, but now you're leading a mystery at a pretty young age and something unprecedented.
- 8:20Eric Rutin: How is that?
- 8:22Ali Skovbye: Man, it's amazing.
- 8:22Ali Skovbye: I mean, like with the Gourmet detectives, I didn't do any of the detective thing or any of that sort, so it was really fun to be able to do that and, do you know, figure out the mystery and solve the mystery and be the detective, and I mean it is.
- 8:40Ali Skovbye: Yeah, we really are.
- 8:42Ali Skovbye: We're a young cast for Hallmark, for sure, all of us.
- 8:44Ali Skovbye: But I think, like you said, I mean the books is 21, we're 21.
- 8:50Ali Skovbye: I think I really respect that, that they decided to do the book and do it right and do it as our true ages, and I mean it's so fun, like it's like it's it's a dream.
- 9:03Eric Rutin: Yeah, it is awesome.
- 9:03Eric Rutin: So I talked to Alyssa Maxwell, who's the author, her her interview will be airing this week as well.
- 9:10Eric Rutin: But, um, she, she did say that sometimes homework also does take a lot of liberties from the book and, while there is some, she said that the she was very, very happy with how you portrayed Emma and Just how it did stay true to the the whole nature of the book.
- 9:29Eric Rutin: So Now, in fact, I think you may be like the youngest lead in any homework like rom-com and anything like that.
- 9:37Eric Rutin: I don't know if they've ever had a 21 year old, that's you're, I don't know.
- 9:40Ali Skovbye: Yeah, I don't know if they have either.
- 9:42Ali Skovbye: I I haven't.
- 9:43Ali Skovbye: I haven't seen anything with with anyone.
- 9:46Ali Skovbye: I mean, I'm in all of us, like Danny is 25, like we're all like there.
- 9:53Ali Skovbye: You know, we a very young audience for homework, but I also think that that's, that's kind of great and can maybe bring in younger audiences as well for homework.
- 10:03Eric Rutin: Well, they, they just had a true justice and that had a fairly young, like late, late 20s, and that one killed.
- 10:12Eric Rutin: And I think one of the things that was great about it was this young cast and it just brought such a different chemistry and such a they cool energy that maybe some of the other ones didn't.
- 10:23Eric Rutin: So that's what I'm pounding on from you guys.
- 10:25Eric Rutin: So the bars, you know the expectations are high for you guys.
- 10:29Ali Skovbye: Oh man, I hope.
- 10:30Ali Skovbye: I hope we meet your expectations.
- 10:33Eric Rutin: All right, we're gonna deviate me.
- 10:34Eric Rutin: I do a little thing in these which is my little rapid round of questions, which there's fun, silly questions, don't have to think, just quick answers and then we go from there and then we'll get back into a couple talking about some mystery talk.
- 10:48Eric Rutin: All right, my main question is what do you think of pineapple on pizza?
- 10:54Ali Skovbye: Not okay, but hot, a hot take.
- 10:56Ali Skovbye: In general, I don't like pizza.
- 11:00Eric Rutin: I know.
- 11:01Ali Skovbye: I know I'm really I'm one of those weirdos.
- 11:02Ali Skovbye: It's not that I hate it and I won't eat it.
- 11:06Ali Skovbye: I will eat it if you know you're in a group and we order it, but I never crave pizza.
- 11:10Ali Skovbye: It's I never.
- 11:11Ali Skovbye: I'll never order it myself.
- 11:12Ali Skovbye: I never ate it.
- 11:15Ali Skovbye: Growing up, at birthday parties, I always went hungry yeah, not a pizza fan in in.
- 11:21Ali Skovbye: So no to pineapple on pizza.
- 11:23Eric Rutin: Well, that's good, that's my, that's my barometer of your psychotic or not.
- 11:27Eric Rutin: So yeah, you definitely.
- 11:30Eric Rutin: Well, I don't know Kerbal in there, but yeah you don't like pineapple and pizza, so you pass.
- 11:36Eric Rutin: All right, okay, what's the most embarrassing song on your Spotify playlist?
- 11:41Ali Skovbye: Oh, my goodness, probably anything Like.
- 11:46Ali Skovbye: I've got a few Hannah Montana, hannah songs on there, nice from the good old days, about some really old JB like Really old Justin Bieber, um, yeah all right, that definitely Hannah Montana definitely qualifies.
- 12:02Ali Skovbye: Hannah Montana is yeah, yeah.
- 12:05Eric Rutin: All right.
- 12:05Eric Rutin: So if you're being cast as a famous person throughout history, who would you want to?
- 12:10Eric Rutin: Who would you want to play?
- 12:13Ali Skovbye: I mean this is deviating a little bit from the question, but I feel like my dream kind of role has always been like a Disney princess, which I know is not historically an actual person, but some people think it is.
- 12:26Ali Skovbye: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:28Ali Skovbye: So I yeah, a Disney princess would be a dream.
- 12:33Eric Rutin: You're in charge here, so you can deviate as much as you want, all right, all right.
- 12:37Eric Rutin: What's the coolest thing you've ever quote unquote kept from a set from a movie or a series you're on.
- 12:47Ali Skovbye: I mean on Firefly Lane I kept some incredible vintage, actual antique jackets that are like legit and very beautiful and very old and actually from the 70s, and some jeans as well that were vintage and thrifted.
- 13:09Ali Skovbye: So I would say for me that's the coolest, because I love clothes.
- 13:14Eric Rutin: So, since you've fasted up, are you going to be getting a call now from like Netflix saying, hey, we've been looking for those.
- 13:19Ali Skovbye: Yeah, no, they let me take them, they let me take them.
- 13:23Eric Rutin: All right, all right.
- 13:25Eric Rutin: Now we're getting really tough.
- 13:26Eric Rutin: If you were a serial, what serial would you be?
- 13:29Ali Skovbye: My favorite serial in the States because I'm from Canada and I can't get it here is Fruity Pebbles All right, so I'm going to get Fruity.
- 13:35Eric Rutin: Pebbles.
- 13:36Eric Rutin: Wait, they don't have Fruity Pebbles in Canada.
- 13:38Ali Skovbye: No, or we did.
- 13:40Ali Skovbye: I think actually maybe we do now, but we didn't for like up until like a year ago.
- 13:44Ali Skovbye: Yeah, Interesting.
- 13:45Ali Skovbye: So in America, it's like my first stop when I'm in LA it's Fruity Pebbles.
- 13:49Eric Rutin: All right.
- 13:49Eric Rutin: So I grew up in Windsor, right across the border of Ontario, there, and I think we had like everything, maybe because it's like, well, vancouver is right there.
- 14:00Eric Rutin: So, yeah, you should have Fruity Pebbles.
- 14:02Eric Rutin: But now hopefully you do All right.
- 14:04Eric Rutin: Last question Are you a dog or cat person?
- 14:07Ali Skovbye: Or a dog person.
- 14:08Eric Rutin: All right, good for you.
- 14:09Eric Rutin: You started well, you finished well, awesome, all right.
- 14:12Eric Rutin: So you mentioned a little earlier.
- 14:14Eric Rutin: Let's talk Danny Griffin.
- 14:15Eric Rutin: I did a post.
- 14:18Eric Rutin: Then they first released the pictures from the movie of all you guys and we usually get, you know, a couple thousand, you know reach and stuff like that 120 likes.
- 14:33Eric Rutin: The pictures are released of you guys.
- 14:35Eric Rutin: We had over 40,000 and more shares than I ever had liked.
- 14:42Eric Rutin: Like it was absolutely crazy.
- 14:44Eric Rutin: So I'm thinking it's kind of obvious why Danny Griffin's a little popular there.
- 14:50Eric Rutin: I showed my wife who was in it.
- 14:51Eric Rutin: She's like yeah, that's a handsome kid there, so how hard was it having him be a cast as your love interest there?
- 14:58Ali Skovbye: Oh brutal.
- 14:59Ali Skovbye: I mean they really made it very, very difficult for me.
- 15:03Ali Skovbye: No, I mean Danny's the best.
- 15:06Ali Skovbye: He's I said it on another podcast he's one of my favorite people and he's incredibly talented and I mean I couldn't imagine anyone else as our Jesse.
- 15:18Eric Rutin: Did he bust out that Cornwall accent on you at all, or is he like?
- 15:22Ali Skovbye: Oh my God.
- 15:22Ali Skovbye: Well, he kept his accent.
- 15:24Ali Skovbye: He kept his British accent, which originally was kind of a discussion of because we're meant to have grown up together whether he should keep it or lose it.
- 15:32Ali Skovbye: But I mean, that era is so true to that accent, and also, who doesn't love a British accent, Right, right.
- 15:37Ali Skovbye: So we ended up keeping it and I think it works and that's just even another layer to the movie and makes it more special.
- 15:44Eric Rutin: Awesome Now.
- 15:45Eric Rutin: Did you know him beforehand.
- 15:46Ali Skovbye: He didn't.
- 15:47Eric Rutin: no, Okay, so he's got awesome so yeah, so in the book he's not a love interest, at least in the first book, like that and so Hallmark did a little tweaking around to make this love triangle.
- 16:00Eric Rutin: So typically in the mysteries we don't really get too much romance going until later on.
- 16:06Eric Rutin: Like I say, you're Gourmet Attack to be.
- 16:08Eric Rutin: It took three episodes for Maggie and Henry to kiss there and stuff so does, and you don't have to get it let out too much.
- 16:16Eric Rutin: But does this one get into the romance a little quicker than a typical mystery?
- 16:22Ali Skovbye: Yeah, I think so.
- 16:22Ali Skovbye: I mean with us being a younger cast as well, I think, younger people in general, it's less of.
- 16:31Ali Skovbye: I mean there's definitely tension.
- 16:33Ali Skovbye: I will say nothing.
- 16:35Ali Skovbye: Nothing happens.
- 16:36Ali Skovbye: It's not.
- 16:36Ali Skovbye: Nothing happens right away.
- 16:38Ali Skovbye: There is still a lot of buildup and still a lot that needs to be explored and doesn't happen in the first movie, but I think we have.
- 16:46Ali Skovbye: Yeah, I think we've got a little bit of romance in there.
- 16:48Eric Rutin: Who doesn't?
- 16:48Ali Skovbye: love the little angel Love triangle in the first movie.
- 16:51Ali Skovbye: So we've got romance for sure.
- 16:54Eric Rutin: All right, that's I mean.
- 16:55Eric Rutin: It's Hallmark, that's what you know half the people want to see.
- 16:57Ali Skovbye: So Little mystery, little romance.
- 16:59Ali Skovbye: What more could you want?
- 17:01Eric Rutin: Exactly, all right.
- 17:02Eric Rutin: So, in addition to being this younger cast, it's also a period piece which Hallmark's never see.
- 17:10Eric Rutin: You're just like literally breaking barriers all over the place here, right?
- 17:14Eric Rutin: So you're gonna.
- 17:15Eric Rutin: When they do the little like monument of Hallmark legends, you're gonna be on there.
- 17:20Eric Rutin: But it's also, like I said, the first period piece.
- 17:23Eric Rutin: So what was it like going back in time to?
- 17:25Eric Rutin: You know the late 1890s and you know the wardrobe, just the set and everything else like that, yeah, amazing.
- 17:33Ali Skovbye: I mean it is like the ultimate dress up, like it's a full costume.
- 17:38Ali Skovbye: I had somebody fully dress me head to toe, took like 20 minutes in the morning, like you really get the full authentic experience.
- 17:47Ali Skovbye: I had a corset, you know the whole bit, so you went full okay.
- 17:52Ali Skovbye: Full thing.
- 17:52Ali Skovbye: The corset was not mandatory, but I myself have pretty bad posture and I knew that I needed.
- 17:59Ali Skovbye: You know, stand straight and stand proper and the minute you put a corset on, you immediately feel like you're in that time zone.
- 18:05Ali Skovbye: But also you, just you stand taller, you, you know it's a nice reminder.
- 18:11Ali Skovbye: But yeah, we did the whole nine and we filmed the Victoria, which has some incredibly historical landscapes and buildings and architecture, which really helped as well.
- 18:23Ali Skovbye: And you know we filmed in the X-Men castle.
- 18:28Ali Skovbye: So we had you know we did the whole.
- 18:30Ali Skovbye: I mean it was amazing, like it really is.
- 18:32Ali Skovbye: You're completely transported.
- 18:34Eric Rutin: Have you ever been to Newport?
- 18:37Ali Skovbye: No, I haven't myself, but I really want to go now.
- 18:40Ali Skovbye: Now, I'm very interested.
- 18:41Eric Rutin: It's absolutely fantastic.
- 18:43Eric Rutin: And the mansion's there Just think that they're just the little summer homes.
- 18:49Eric Rutin: It's a whole different world.
- 18:51Eric Rutin: Like yeah, you had to go to a castle right, Whereas these other people's like this extra home, and I read that.
- 18:57Eric Rutin: So OK, so you went back in time in this movie, but if you now just got the superpower where you could go forward or backward in time, would you go backwards or would you go forward Like you as a person, not as a role, just you.
- 19:13Ali Skovbye: Me.
- 19:13Ali Skovbye: I would go backwards, partly because I would go backwards till like the 70s and 80s.
- 19:22Ali Skovbye: I would love to be alive and live in the 70s and the 80s.
- 19:26Ali Skovbye: I feel like the future is too scary.
- 19:31Eric Rutin: Yeah, I hear you there.
- 19:31Eric Rutin: Well, I lived through this.
- 19:33Eric Rutin: Well, I was a little kid in the 70s, but 80s were my time and I'll tell you it was a good, fun time and partial in the music Greatest music.
- 19:43Ali Skovbye: That's what it was going to be?
- 19:45Eric Rutin: No, Hannah Montana but.
- 19:47Ali Skovbye: You know, but, I mean I'll take 80s music over Hannah Montana.
- 19:50Ali Skovbye: I will.
- 19:51Ali Skovbye: Yeah, I mean the hair and the outfits, like all of it just seemed so fun.
- 19:57Eric Rutin: I don't know.
- 19:58Eric Rutin: My wife seen me with my mullet and she won't let me grow it back.
- 20:02Eric Rutin: Then the Harris, but you need love.
- 20:05Ali Skovbye: Mullets are totally making a comeback.
- 20:07Eric Rutin: Yeah.
- 20:08Ali Skovbye: Mullets are like they're in right now.
- 20:11Eric Rutin: All right, I'll have to get going, I'll have to get going.
- 20:13Eric Rutin: But you also need your aquanet too.
- 20:15Eric Rutin: Your thing of aquanet was required.
- 20:18Eric Rutin: So all right.
- 20:19Eric Rutin: So back to Emma and Gilded Mystery here.
- 20:22Eric Rutin: Not any important.
- 20:23Eric Rutin: So what do you bring to this role?
- 20:27Eric Rutin: Like when you saw it, you got your script.
- 20:29Eric Rutin: There's what Emma is on paper, there's what Emma is in the book, but what did Allie bring to make Emma in the movie?
- 20:38Ali Skovbye: I mean, I think Emma is just such a force and she.
- 20:44Ali Skovbye: I really wanted to make sure that she was strong and determined, but not so much so that you don't see how vulnerable she is.
- 20:57Ali Skovbye: Sometimes it's hard when someone is so determined and so ambitious in doing the thing and writing and doing all the things that a lot of women aren't doing at the time.
- 21:07Ali Skovbye: It's easy to lose the vulnerability and the heart when you're playing a part like that.
- 21:16Ali Skovbye: So I think I really just tried to make her truthful and grounded and honest and vulnerable and having all of those layers underneath the ambition and drive to build, kind of a full fleshed out character.
- 21:31Eric Rutin: She is a really interesting character because she's kind of part of that new port rich, fluent people.
- 21:38Eric Rutin: She's got that old money thing to the Vanderbilt name to her, but then she's also not, and so she rides I don't know if it's in the book, but she rides her own buggy, she insists on having her own job and everything like that.
- 21:52Eric Rutin: So she is a pretty progressive 1890s woman there.
- 21:57Eric Rutin: So that's pretty cool, especially in this world of I'll go off script here for a second but the whole thing of the whole Barbie snubbed there too.
- 22:05Eric Rutin: So, like good poverty, you're getting to play a good strong woman there.
- 22:10Ali Skovbye: Yeah, I mean love.
- 22:12Ali Skovbye: A strong female lead.
- 22:14Eric Rutin: Just now we have.
- 22:16Eric Rutin: One of the things with mysteries and you were part of one again is people are really loyal to their mysteries.
- 22:22Eric Rutin: We get all the time people who are still completely upset that Mystery 101's canceled and not coming back and I'm never watching another mystery.
- 22:30Eric Rutin: Gourmet Detective has a very loyal fan base as well and upset that there appears to be another one coming, though I saw it's not officially canceled.
- 22:43Eric Rutin: Maybe it's true, maybe not, but so I don't know.
- 22:48Eric Rutin: What can you tell listeners that are gonna make them wanna tune in Friday?
- 22:55Eric Rutin: There's the obvious period piece and whatever.
- 22:58Eric Rutin: What about this mystery is gonna be unique?
- 23:02Eric Rutin: That's gonna convert all these people to say, nope, I'm on board.
- 23:05Eric Rutin: We need 10 episodes of this one.
- 23:08Ali Skovbye: Oh, I mean, I think, partly because it is based on a book, so there is kind of a built in fan base and a built in storyline and characters that are already beloved and following that and having like, if anyone's a fan of the books, obviously there are things that are different when you do an adaptation, but following that kind of journey that they go on in the books, which is always really fun and adds a layer and you can read the book before you watch the movie, it's like we got a double, double entertainment happening.
- 23:43Ali Skovbye: But I mean, honestly, obviously I'm biased, but I think the movie's got a little bit of everything.
- 23:49Ali Skovbye: I think it's exciting, I think it keeps you on your toes, I think the romance is as a layer of fun and intrigue and, yeah, I mean, I think it's a really fun time.
- 24:04Ali Skovbye: It's an hour out of your night that will really transport you into a different world and help you not think about maybe the bad day you had at work that day.
- 24:15Eric Rutin: Awesome.
- 24:15Eric Rutin: All right, so we're wrapping up now.
- 24:18Eric Rutin: Do you have anything else going on?
- 24:21Eric Rutin: After this airs?
- 24:21Eric Rutin: You, like I said, you're this A-lester who starts with all the biggest of the big, so what else do you have going on?
- 24:30Ali Skovbye: No well, I just wrapped in a horror movie who.
- 24:33Ali Skovbye: It's called, which is incredibly cool and I'm really excited that's to come out next year.
- 24:40Ali Skovbye: Got another movie called Chris the Knight.
- 24:44Ali Skovbye: Yeah, I've got a few things in the works, but everything is later this year or next year.
- 24:51Eric Rutin: Okay, well, very good, it was so exciting talking to you Like.
- 24:56Eric Rutin: I said thank you for indulging my little gourmet detective start at the beginning.
- 25:02Eric Rutin: And it would be awesome because you'd be off like in college.
- 25:06Eric Rutin: Well, I think you're in college in the last episode actually, but maybe you'd already be graduating.
- 25:10Eric Rutin: You could get into the sleuthing this time as well.
- 25:14Ali Skovbye: If you could get another one.
- 25:15Ali Skovbye: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:18Eric Rutin: But okay, well, thank you very much.
- 25:20Eric Rutin: It was great talking to you and I'm confident this movie is going to just absolutely slay like the last one did.
- 25:28Eric Rutin: So it's a good start to 2024 for a Hallmark Mysteries.
- 25:33Ali Skovbye: Yeah, yeah, I think so.
- 25:35Eric Rutin: All right, thanks, ellie, have a good day.
- 25:37Ali Skovbye: Thank you, you too, bye no-transcript.
