- 0:50the last outpost? What was before that? That? That's great? I
- 0:57don't know. Oh for Angie, uh you know what this is? This
- 1:03is a this is a piggy bag. This is a slot in the back
- 1:06to put money. I always thought that was interesting. Nice. Now is
- 1:11that a specific? So yeah? Is that a specific Frengie, I don't
- 1:17know, or like a generic just a generic? Yeah, I think he's
- 1:23just a generic for what I would like to do is cut his head off,
- 1:27mounted on his stick and make like the spray painted gold like that would
- 1:33be perfect. Yeah, absolutely, yeah, absolutely do it. Put that
- 1:40emay, I'll bit on it. That's awesome, No either, everybody,
- 1:49that's right. Yeah, we all know dance. We're all about the box.
- 1:57Ask where's the show? Crack shuttle craft is due to atmospheric conditions.
- 2:06Uh ah, shell craft can't be reached right now, you're on the star
- 2:12base. Now, so I'm on a well, I'm in the basement.
- 2:19I'm in the keel. I'm in the keel of the ship. Isn't that
- 2:23the bottom right, the keel. I'm not a navy guy. Yeah,
- 2:27I'm not underbelly. Yeah. The only thing I know about the Navy I
- 2:32learned from Star Trek. Yeah, it's me toom. What is that?
- 2:43Anyone? Do I have to google it? No? Is it? No?
- 2:51No? No? No? All right? Do you know who?
- 2:53I think? His name is? Jay Underwood? Right? Is that the
- 2:55actor's name. Oh that's familiar. J under Yeah, the boy, the
- 3:00boy who could fly? Oh yeah, yeah, okay, yep, yep.
- 3:07He was in Voyager. Yep, he was in He was in one
- 3:12episode of Voyager and his name was Mortimer Heron and he was the mathematician who
- 3:16just hung out in the basement of the ship. It was his job to
- 3:20just you know, it's twelve o'clock. Let me press this button. That
- 3:23was the Voyager lower decks. I'm gonna sit here and do my math mm
- 3:28hm yes, yep, yep. So that's okay, cut, yeah,
- 3:35last last month, last well, that's the thing I'm doing now. Remember
- 3:38last last month I was Revs revs Jakara. Yeah, this deep cut on
- 3:45the characters. I like it. Who knows? Who knows who I'll be
- 3:49next week? Nobody knows. Yeah. I actually put my real first name
- 3:53on there because I think some people didn't. Actually I think people were,
- 3:55you know, they were calling me strong Beard. I don't think they knew
- 3:58who what my first name was. That's not on your that's not on your
- 4:02Yeah, my wife started calling me strong Beard. The kids, Yeah,
- 4:08that's awesome. All right. How's everyone's holidays? All right? Fantastic.
- 4:15A lot of family, a lot of a lot of kids and presents and
- 4:20getting together, and a lot of friends coming over, the bills everything.
- 4:26I love the holidays. I love Christmas. I I love all aspects of
- 4:30it, you know. Uh so I try to get in the spirit as
- 4:32much as I can. I listen to Christmas music, all that stuff.
- 4:35So yeah, huh yeah, let's just call them not the chat. Yeah,
- 4:43we uh we just not. That'll work. Well, Ladies and gentlemen,
- 4:50Welcome to Trek Cats, the Galaxy's most unpredictable star trek podcast. Uh
- 4:56I am Scott. Uh Well, we'll get into who I am later.
- 5:00Uh, here's Dan and Daniel the Uh yeah, Mortimer, that's right,
- 5:08Mortimer, absolutely the Mattermatician. I go there, go buy more Morty to
- 5:13my friends. Morty. Okay, yeah, Mary. Oh. We we
- 5:17do have one announcement that we can make now cool, just one, so
- 5:21yeah, just one. Get a new number. Yay. It's five seven
- 5:29zero six six one zero zero zero one. Apparently it's over my face.
- 5:34Yeah face, that's great. So it's the people can leave with voicemails.
- 5:44Awesome. You can keep your voicemails under two minutes. Then I can animate
- 5:47them and make you a little figurine on the show. So yes, yeah,
- 5:54yeah, yeah, And we do have one one last voicemail from the
- 5:58old number that we'll play later. Right. Oh good, I forgot about
- 6:01that, dude. I've had so much going on, you don't even know.
- 6:10You just got done telling me you've been relaxing the entire time. Anything
- 6:14to do. He's been telling me he's been super busy. So it's I
- 6:19think we're going to give you a pass. Yeah. I just got back
- 6:23from spending New Year's in Vegas. Yeah, how was that? It was
- 6:27a lot of fun. It was a lot of fun. I did try
- 6:29to hook up with Dave and Darren, but it just it never worked out.
- 6:33Yeah, like that happens. Literally, we were polar opposites when we
- 6:36could meet. So yeah, for those of you who don't know, can
- 6:41you tell us, tell them, tell everybody who Dave and Darren are.
- 6:44Yeah, David Dearer the original host of Trick Cast. We took over from
- 6:47them a few years ago. So yeah, it would have been really cool
- 6:49to hang out with him. It would have been like sur trict generations for
- 6:53us. Yeah, oh yeah, yeah. Do you think maybe they'd been
- 6:59interested in but on the show for you know, just say there's definitely an
- 7:02open invite. I'll say that there's definitely an opt Okay. David was on
- 7:09our our pandemic episode when I was when I was locked locked in the hotel
- 7:14down a Newer Shell. He was on that episode. I think I remember
- 7:18that. Darren, we've we've reached out a couple of times, and you
- 7:23know, he's always interested, but it just never seems to to line up
- 7:29again. Every people are busy, lives are crazy, and you know,
- 7:31I don't know what we do where you live. Like we said, they
- 7:35both have an open invitation to get on the show whenever they want. Awesome,
- 7:41but someday. But Man Vegas on New Year's is total amateur hour with
- 7:45all those it was crazy just how many drunk people just everywhere. I will
- 7:51say one of the funniest things we saw is right as you enter the strip,
- 7:56there's a an urgent care clinic. So it's so it's like a lie
- 8:01going to the women's bathroom. Yeah, so it's like a Tuesday he in
- 8:09vase, right, right, No, but there's right as you get into
- 8:13the strip, there's an urgent care clinic. Right, there's a big sign
- 8:16on the urgent clary clinic that says we're here from you when you try something
- 8:20new. And I was just dying with Wow, they're just like yeah an
- 8:31snow words, Yeah, yeah, oh my god, they understood their assignment.
- 8:35Yeah, indeed, this is there's a smaller sign underneath it that says,
- 8:39uh, nothing ends up in your ass accidentally visiting your rates. Now
- 8:50wait a minute, I mean, I'm I'm not it could happen. I
- 8:54mean, could you know, It's just I mean it's possible, yes,
- 9:01but yeah, I'm nailed with the grass Tyson right now, Yeah, he's
- 9:11got another great podcast too. Yeah, well, what do we get to
- 9:15the news. There's quite a few news stories, okay, Star Trek news.
- 9:20Okay, all right, so our first news story customers to comes to
- 9:26us from trekmovie dot com and Grandpa says there's a new Star Trek movie script.
- 9:30Patrick Stewart is saying that is in the work. He was recently speaking
- 9:37to the Happy, Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz and he said that yeah,
- 9:41there's a uh, there's something on the table. He said that he
- 9:45spoke to someone the night before when this was recorded, and that there is
- 9:48a project with the card in mind. They are currently working on the script
- 9:54and he expects to have that script in a week or two and go from
- 9:56there. So this is not going to be started four Yeah, separate part.
- 10:05Sure. So yeah, hey, are you are you scrolling the website?
- 10:13I think every time you scroll you sort of get muffled out. Oh
- 10:18I wasn't scrolling the website. No, oh okay, sound fine now,
- 10:22but yeah, Dan, Dan, didn't you? Was it you that made
- 10:24the comment on the Facebook group about this where you're like, yeah, there's
- 10:28also been a script for uh something else in the works. Yeah. Oh,
- 10:35Daniel said that okay, yeah, said there's also a script for ET
- 10:37two, right, yeah, that's right. Yeah, and you were one,
- 10:43right, yeah, yeah. It really doesn't mean anything. It just
- 10:48means, you know, they're working on a script and we'll see what happens
- 10:52that they do that a lot. If if the script turns out good or
- 10:54if they like it. It doesn't necessarily mean it's good. But if they
- 10:58like it, then then they might proceed. But it's not a guarantee.
- 11:03I have a feeling that Patrick Stewart needs like, you know, okay grandpa,
- 11:07like one of those guys around him, especially around social media at all
- 11:11times, you know. You know, I read something. I don't know
- 11:18if it was an our group or or another group, but somebody somebody was
- 11:22commenting about how they they read his recent autobiography and making it so yeah,
- 11:30and they were struck by how different, excuse me, how different the personalities
- 11:37of Patrick Stewart and John Luke Icard are and mm hmmm, almost like a
- 11:46disappointment, right right, Patrick Stewart is not Jean Luke Icard, and how
- 11:52Patrick Stewart, you know, it was a bit of a womanizer and doesn't
- 11:58have the best character traits that you would associate you would want to associate with
- 12:05him after twenty twenty five years of watching him as right, he seems it's
- 12:13acting, but you know, reading that and then hearing this, it's kind
- 12:22of like, you know, well, maybe he needs the constant attention.
- 12:26Maybe that's maybe he's on his fourth mid life crisis and you know he needs
- 12:31at this point in his life, he needs to feel relevant. So you
- 12:35know he shat urner it up. Yeah, could be yeah, yeah,
- 12:39I know. Yeah, he's a pretty flamm guy. Yeah, exactly.
- 12:48That is a deep cut hold on that deserves warning warning. NERD alert,
- 12:54nerd alert. Yeah, my wife, My wife in the next room,
- 13:09Like what the hell is he talking about? Screaming about? Oh my wife
- 13:16is in the next room wondering that all the time. Yeah, all right.
- 13:22Our next new story comes to us from the New York Post and apparently
- 13:26a rocket is going into space soon with the remains of over three hundred and
- 13:31thirty people, including Star Trek creator Jeane Roddenberry. It is set to launch
- 13:37on Monday at two in the morning from Cape Cranable, Florida. It's got
- 13:41all these little like little pieces of people like just remains and it's gonna go.
- 13:48Yes, that's sorry, chopped up our vacuum decimated, that's right,
- 13:54desiccated remains. Indeed, indeed, yes, and you can get them for
- 14:03oh awesome, awesome. Yeah. But yeah, so that'd be really cool
- 14:09that that's that's heading out there. I'm sure Geane would love to be in
- 14:13space. I saw, like I thought that happened like twenty years ago.
- 14:16If I have that feeling too, Like, no, Scotty went to space.
- 14:22So this is uh, this has been delayed for eight months that they've
- 14:26been trying to do. Okay, So I feel like I heard about this
- 14:28decades ago. Yeah, I agree with you again, Yeah, I feel
- 14:35like James doing. There's there was a story about James doing Oh yeah,
- 14:39yeah, that sounds right. Yeah, okay, And then our next news
- 14:45story comes to us from screen Rants and one of the producers of Star Trek
- 14:50The Next Generation. The show was recently interviewed and he talked a lot about
- 14:56how he feels that it is criminal that the cast did not get nominated for
- 15:01awards or many awards during its run. He says they were one of the
- 15:05most extremely talented casts on TV at the time and for them to not get
- 15:09nominated was just a tragedy. He also said that Star Trek has been a
- 15:13great place for up and coming stars. He did mention how that, you
- 15:20know, Star Trek gave way to people like Tom Hardy, The Rock and
- 15:24Ashley Judd. He specifically mentioned that Star Trek was the first starring role for
- 15:28Tom Hardy. And now look at how big Tom Hardy is. So literally,
- 15:33yeah, how big Tom Hardy is. That always boggles my mind when
- 15:35I see him as Bane and then I look him at it as shins On.
- 15:39They're two completely different people, right, Yeah, I feel like there's
- 15:46a there, and maybe it doesn't exist so much anymore, but definitely back
- 15:50in the eighties and the nineties this did exist, but there was like a
- 15:54hierarchy of acting work, you know, and they weren't all on the same
- 16:00the same level. You know, you had stage actors, yeah, film
- 16:06film actors. It was like, you know, film actors, stage actors,
- 16:11television actors. And we have to remember that Star Trek the next generation
- 16:18was not only television, it was syndic, cad syndicated television, which I
- 16:26think was even yeah, I think it was television on that and you know,
- 16:34yeah, yes, yes, you know. And now now it's like
- 16:38we're all over the place series and all this is streaming and you know everything
- 16:44thing is all you know, thrown together. Now, you know you have
- 16:51people who who their full body of work as fan films and yeah, but
- 16:56at the time, I'm not saying I agree with it. So check the
- 17:00diction Racius some of the they made some of the greatest television in history.
- 17:03But I know that it wasn't viewed the same as you know, I don't
- 17:11know. I'm trying to think of no, you're you're absolutely there's a higher
- 17:15it wasn't on the same yeah, or something like that or mm hmm e
- 17:26er. You know, you think about it. You know there's that yep
- 17:30Alseph the Daytime Emmys. You know, it's it's like the industry was saying,
- 17:34you know, yeah, all right, Susan Luci, you played this
- 17:38character for forty years, but you know you're never going to get an Emmy.
- 17:41You might get a Daytime Emmy right presented to you by Montel Williams and
- 17:48Judge Wattner, but you know, you know it's not giving you that award,
- 17:56and neither is Dennis Frauds. So yeah, yeah, some of those
- 18:00names. Tell me you're in your mid forties without telling me you're in your
- 18:04mid forties. Shut up, you, Hey, Dennis Bronx lives up here,
- 18:14Montel Williams, Monte. All right, our next new story comes to
- 18:19us from screen rant again and oh is Dan cutting out? I think Dan's
- 18:26cutting out? Okay, always see it's that stupid for iggy yes with no
- 18:32sound? Oh no, all right, the story comes from from screen rants.
- 18:37Okay, Oh there he is, And a lot of fans aren't happy.
- 18:41The Home of Star Trek is no longer the Home of Star Trek,
- 18:45as Paramount Plus removes ten of the thirteen Star Trek movies. All of the
- 18:49original series movies are gone. They have been moved over to HBO Max and
- 18:56now it's just all that remains is the JJ Treck movies on Paramount Plus.
- 19:03So Paramount if there hadn't been an argument for yeah, physical media before,
- 19:11yeah, this, you know, I'm glad, I've got you know,
- 19:14I'm I'm slowly by. Anytime I see a deal or I look you know
- 19:18eBay or Amazon or whatever, and anytime I see something on Blu Ray that
- 19:21I don't have yet match it up. Yeah, but the time this week,
- 19:26this week Best Buy stopped selling Blu rays and DVDs all physical yep,
- 19:30they stopped. Really yeah, yeah, it's wild Man. Yeah, all
- 19:37right, and you know it's wild It's it's like, okay, so all
- 19:41of the all of the all the Star Trek movies have been moved over to
- 19:47what you said, HBO? Mm hm yeah yeah right, yeah said yeah
- 19:55okay. And in the same week or this same month, all of the
- 20:02oh yeah, all of the DC movies left HBO and went to Netflix,
- 20:11right, what we do really okay, Yeah, it's it's I think I'm
- 20:15on a delay or something because I think your yours is cutting out of reaction.
- 20:22Yeah, I'm gonna reset, okay, okay, I'll do our last
- 20:25news story. Our last news story comes to us from Deadline, and I
- 20:27thought I would bring this up just because I figured this was the right audience
- 20:30for it. A Battlestory Galactica reboot is on its way. It also produced,
- 20:36yeah, produced by Sam Smell. That is the producer of Mister Robot.
- 20:41If you're familiar with that show. He's currently working on the reboot.
- 20:45I really liked Mister Robot, so I'm excited to noting not familiar with it.
- 20:49It's a great show. It's a great show if you like computer hacking
- 20:52and and like espionage type stuff, thriller. Write it down. Yeah,
- 20:59it's it's really good. But yeah, so so they're working on it.
- 21:03Very little is known at this time. I mean, it's very early stages
- 21:08of this, so it'll be a while till we see anything or here much.
- 21:12But I thought it was cool. I'm assuming you've seen the reboot,
- 21:18the one from like or whatever. Yeah, yes, I did. I
- 21:23did see it. I loved it. I even named my dog Baltar.
- 21:29Okay, so yeah, I yeah, I I liked it. I got
- 21:33into it. I didn't see you know, life happened, and I just
- 21:38I stopped watching it right before the final season. So Bringy's back, I
- 21:48think so. But Dan, we can't hear you if you're O hi,
- 21:59Hi, can you hear us? I'm on some sort of delay. I
- 22:02can hear you, but I'm round to see when you're not hearing me right
- 22:04away and we end up talking over each other. This is weird. That
- 22:08is weird. It is weird. Yeah, Well, should we get to
- 22:15the main topic? Yeah, oh yes, fine, will now come out
- 22:26all right. So we have a couple of main topics, Dan, which
- 22:30one do you want to do first? Should we do the awards or the
- 22:33other one? Yeah, let's blow through the awards and then we'll talk about
- 22:41the other one. Okay. So look, I'm made graphics. Are you
- 22:45guys hearing me? Okay? Yeah, I can hear you. Yeah,
- 22:49we can hear you. Just fine. So I made graphics for the awards.
- 22:55Oh nice? Yeah, so we got We had a few, We
- 22:59had a few vote in for this. So this these results are by the
- 23:03listeners, not just us deciding. And our first award was for best Character.
- 23:08We had several nominees, but the winner was Beckett Mariner. Beckett Mariner,
- 23:17Yeah, that was the best character according to the listeners. You know,
- 23:22I really, I really loved her in this uh in the last last
- 23:26season. You know, obviously she got promoted and she went through a little
- 23:30bit of a you know, life crisis with that, and I I think
- 23:36I like the way that that that she's you know, transitioned from being just
- 23:42you know, this happy, go lucky ensign that doesn't really care about anything
- 23:47to actually given a crap about you know, the crew and the ship and
- 23:51start. It's been a good art for her overall. So yeah, and
- 23:56Tawnie Newsome does a fantastic job with her. Yeah, he does, really
- 24:00does, all right. Our next one was best Rookie and in a landslide
- 24:07like it wasn't even close. We had mop Loopsie was number one. Baby
- 24:14oops. If anybody has a bead on where I can get a Moopsie stuffed
- 24:19toy, let me know. Uh, my wife's birthdays coming up right,
- 24:32Okay, he'll a real one, a real one. Yeah, I'll have
- 24:37to see what my latinum's doing. Yeah for sure. Then we had Best
- 24:42Star Trek Actor Performance in a non star Trek role for twenty twenty three.
- 24:48This one was also a landslide surprisingly, and we had Jack Quaid in My
- 24:52Adventures with Superman as Superman Slash Clark Kent Cool. Have you guys seen the
- 24:59show? I saw the first episode. I liked it. It was it
- 25:02was good. Yeah, it was mostly geared towards kids. Yeah, things
- 25:07where I mean, I've been meaning to go back to it and just yeah,
- 25:11I'm a huge Superman fan. I think Jack Quaid did a fantastic job,
- 25:15especially as Clark. Yeah, you know, uh, it's I think
- 25:22it's obviously, I think it's harder to nail Clark than it is to nail
- 25:25kal El or Superman. But because I think Clark is a lot more nuanced
- 25:30as a character, I think so too. And then do you believe that
- 25:34was a smart thing to say? Right? Man? Nuanced? Indeed?
- 25:38Indeed? All right? Then we have the best romantic couple and the winner
- 25:47was Tendy and Rutherford. Oh nice, nice, technically a romantic couple,
- 25:52but definitely the answer there they were married for an episode, that's true.
- 25:57Yeah, there's a will they won't she ask that going on there? So
- 26:03it's moonlighting in space yep, yeah, under property, that's right. I
- 26:11love our fourth co host, Frankie just jumping in. That's great. Then
- 26:18we had best Easter Egg and this one far and away the biggest winner,
- 26:22the most percentage points. Boimler's Yeah, I've seen that scened dozens of times
- 26:30and I laughed every single time. Riker, Yeah, that's just so great.
- 26:36Yeah, yeah, people love it. I love the story behind it,
- 26:40the behind the scenes story behind it. I love his like just the
- 26:44way he executed that single word. It was great. Then we had best
- 26:52Character death or send off, which is always the weirdest word I think,
- 26:56but fun and uh, the winner was Captain Shaw. Yeah, yeah,
- 27:03yeah, he had a fan redemption. That was pretty good, you know,
- 27:10because I think one of my one of my first pack ld reviews for
- 27:14that season was Captain Shaw is a dick and he was who was and we
- 27:22all hated him, and then we all loved him and we all you know,
- 27:26ball their eyes out when he died. Yeah, you know, when
- 27:29he finally acknowledged Anaica Hanson is seven of nine and yeah, it was good.
- 27:37Uh. Then we had best Villain and the winner of that award was
- 27:44the Gorn. The Gorn. Yeah, they've got some reconciling to do with
- 27:52the Gorn, has it related? That's yeah, that's that's probably the direction
- 27:59they're going to go, because I've recently watched that episode on the original series
- 28:03because I'm we're about a third of the way through season two right now.
- 28:07The original series lean into the fact that you know, on the original series
- 28:15that was an adult Gorn. Yeah, and the one the one fighting aliens
- 28:21style? Are the baby Gorn an adult Gorn? You mean a geriatric Gorn
- 28:29with a lot of arthritis, all right, and a bad skin condition.
- 28:33I mean a really, I mean his skin almost looks like rubber. And
- 28:38his eyes are just meshed, I mean glazed over it. We get it,
- 28:45we get it. We got it. And we had best episode.
- 28:48And this is a first in our long prestigious word history, I have to
- 28:52say this. We had a tie. Wow. Yeah. We had the
- 28:57crossover episode, oh wow wow. Yeah, and the last Generation of the
- 29:03Picard finale, so yeah, ty, I'm okay with that. I was.
- 29:07I'm okay with that too, I really am. Yeah. Both of
- 29:15them were so good. Yeah, and different reasons for being good, but
- 29:19good. Yeah. The Lower Decks crossover was just so neat. It was
- 29:23so cool. Yeah, so, you know, so much fun. And
- 29:27and the last generation the Piccard series finale was just so nostalgic and you know,
- 29:37for people, especially for people like me who started out next gen.
- 29:40So yeah, yeah, we had best Appearance and the winner was Jack Quad
- 29:48and Boiler as Boiler in Strange New Worlds against the Barons. So yeah,
- 29:53yep. We had best Song from Subspace Rhapsody, the musical episode. We
- 30:00literally put the whole list of songs on there. So the number one winner
- 30:03was We Are One very good. Yeah, yeah, that is that the
- 30:08finale one with the with the the Klingons, and I think that's the one.
- 30:15Yeah, yeah, okay, I thought Status Report was gonna win.
- 30:18That's the one they made like a video for and everything. Yeah, I
- 30:22like for this is a video for I think every one of them. Oh
- 30:25okay, yeah, all right. Then our last category best back lid review,
- 30:34and it was There's a lot of nominees, but the winner was Captain
- 30:41Shaw's So thank you, thank you. You know. I would like to
- 30:48thank all the track cast fans. I would like to thank Daniel for his
- 30:55amazing editing skills and producing skills. I'd like to thank think the encouragement I
- 31:00got from Dan and and uh. And I'd like to thank my mom.
- 31:04I'm mom. So although I do have to apologize for something, what's that?
- 31:11Uh? And I talked to you about that. I talked to both
- 31:12of you about this. Uh. If you were paying attention, UH,
- 31:17you'll realize that we missed a couple of categories. And that was because when
- 31:26I that was a clerical secretarial error on my part. So I actually missed
- 31:34when I sent you the text of all the categories and all the nominations.
- 31:38Yeah, I missed two of them, and so I just wanted to mention
- 31:41I missed best in Costumes uh and and and that was the crossover from lower
- 31:48decks among the Lotus eaters. Uh, the doctor m uh what's his name?
- 31:56Doctor m my mom from Exchanging Worlds. Yeah, his fishing outfit,
- 32:00uh, the civilian clothes that Lawn wore, the Starfleet uniforms from Card season
- 32:07three, and the cool leather jackets and picard. I also missed the biggest
- 32:12cringe moment such as the Pike Boimler I love the Pike Boimler interactions, the
- 32:23musical episode Lawn and Kirk interaction. Another big cringe moment was the strong beard
- 32:32uh and uh missing getting his wife coffee moments on the show and the courtroom
- 32:38scenes. So yeah, for all those of you out there that we're hoping
- 32:44to vote on those nominations, I apologize it, you know, so if
- 32:52you alix, if you want me to resign, I will, yes,
- 32:57please do That's right. Okay. That was a great though. That was
- 33:04a I really enjoyed the all the nominations and the and the awards. Want
- 33:08to do the award that was That was a lot of fun. We had
- 33:10a great year in Trek, and then you know we're gonna start off good
- 33:15in April when Discovery returns. Yep, looking forward to it, absolutely,
- 33:22absolutely, this is the year. Yeah, this might be the year that
- 33:25it's good. This is the year. And then we also got a Prodigy
- 33:30season two at some point. Mm hmmm, So that'll be great to not
- 33:34watch that. I'm gonna go back to it. Yeah, I think I
- 33:40will too. I think I will too. I just I just haven't.
- 33:43Yeah, you can watch non net paramount uh Nicola. Yeah, you gotta
- 33:47chase it wherever it's at, right, you can google it and then watch
- 33:52it. I think you'll just have to watch it through like a Sears Roebuck
- 33:54store window. Maybe T Bearry is our Prodigy evangelist. He keeps saying how
- 34:01great it is. Prodigy was good. It's obviously geared towards tweens. And
- 34:07my twelve year old liked it and he's looking forward to season two. Maybe
- 34:10when season two starts up, we'll bring him on to help us review the
- 34:14first episode. Yeah, yeah, if he's up for it, I'm sure
- 34:19he would be. Yeah, yeah, peer pressured, T Bear Yeah,
- 34:23absolutely, come on, T Bear Yeah, you scared. All right,
- 34:32So Dan, do we want to make our big announcement the other part of
- 34:35the main topic. Yeah, I thought it over and oh you're good.
- 34:42Did you change your minds? I mean, let me see what he says
- 34:46in the chat, No kidding, So yeah, we can, I guess,
- 34:52I guess we can talk about this. Yeah. You know, I
- 34:55reached out to Chad last week, and you know, I've talked to him
- 35:04a couple of times over the last few weeks. And I reached out to
- 35:07him and I said, you know, I just want to get an idea
- 35:09of what your what your feelings are about returning to Trek Cast. And you
- 35:16know, he told me he's he's still got a bunch of stuff going on
- 35:20in his personal life and he can't see himself making a full time return to
- 35:23the show. He would love to come on as a as a guest from
- 35:29time to time, but him returning full time is not something that's going to
- 35:35happen. Yeah. So, and you know, I respect his decision.
- 35:40Obviously, he's a good friend of mine. He'll always be a good friend
- 35:44of mine. Yeah, we stay in touch. But as they say in
- 35:50show business, the show must go on. So we're currently accepting applications if
- 35:57anyone feels so that I might have a lack of options, the obvious choice
- 36:05of what to do. We we've been real lucky of the last few months
- 36:08that uh you know. We literally called Scott up and said, hey,
- 36:14can you start tomorrow and and help us out? And he said yes,
- 36:20And you know, he's been he's been doing just that. He's been pulling
- 36:23his weight. He's been pulling more than his weight for several months now.
- 36:28And you know, Daniel and I talked it over for about a nano second
- 36:32and said, hey, let's let's see if Scott wants to uh step into
- 36:36this role full time. And we reached out to him and and he accepted,
- 36:42so, which is which is funny because before this, Scott was the
- 36:47uh the occasional guest host that we would have when one of us couldn't make
- 36:53it. So it's almost like he and Chad are flopping flip flopping positions,
- 37:00right, He's kind of like wharf to our Ds nine. He is coming
- 37:04in midway. He's coming in midway. The slight ratings bomb. Yeah,
- 37:08I'll take it, So I guess I guess, uh you know, Scott,
- 37:17thank you and welcome aboard. Absolutely, thank you and get your exclusive
- 37:24Scott lithography. Yeah, should we we all like nineties? Should we get
- 37:37Scott on a plate? You know, that'd be perfect, that'd be perfect.
- 37:42Yeah. Absolutely, you would sell, You would sell at least three
- 37:45of them, yeah, maybe four. But no, thanks guys. I
- 37:50really appreciate it. You know, I want to think I want to thank
- 37:53Chad too. You know, we we mentioned earlier that about you know,
- 37:59the show you to be hosted by two other guys and then the three of
- 38:01you. Uh as I, as I recall the story, sort of wanted
- 38:07to revamp trek Cast after they kind of stopped doing it. And you guys
- 38:12have always done a fantastic job, you know. And and Chad, you
- 38:16know, well, okay, there might have been a couple of thinks you've
- 38:22done a job. And uh, you know, I I love Chad.
- 38:25I think he's a great, great guy. He did a fantastic job hosting
- 38:30treck Cast, you know, and I I'll always be appreciative of him.
- 38:35And uh, you know, like you said, he's you know, we
- 38:37hope to have him on the show as a as a as a guest.
- 38:42So uh, I wish him the best and I thank you guys for the
- 38:45this opportunity. This has been a lot of fun. It really has.
- 38:47Uh. I get to spend my Sunday mornings uh with some great people,
- 38:52uh talking about you know, my my favorite thing. So you know,
- 38:57what more could you ask for? You know? This reminds me of right
- 39:02after, right after the switchover, where we did our first episode is the
- 39:08new the new hosts. Uh, some of the longtime listeners flipped out and
- 39:15yeah, I remember we had one review that consisted of new people. Right.
- 39:22The internet famously loves change. I I gotta yeah, I recently read
- 39:29some of the older reviews. But I remember I remember David David stepping in
- 39:35and doing a quick supplemental episode audio, you know, an audio only episode,
- 39:42and he used a really good analogy. He said, if if you're
- 39:45a fan of the Denver Broncos, you're a fan of the Denver Broncos,
- 39:49but the Denver Broncos of today are not the same Denver Broncos of ten years
- 39:53ago, but you're still a fan of the of the Denver Broncos. So
- 39:59you know, trek Cast was trek Cast and trek Cast is still trek Cast.
- 40:01But there's different players on the field, and you know what, that's
- 40:06that's going to continue to happen. At some point. You know, I'm
- 40:10gonna say, hey, guys, you know I got two kids in college.
- 40:15Yeah, yeah, it's it's too much. I need to hand this
- 40:21off to somebody else. And who knows, ten years from now, Trek
- 40:23Cast may still be going with three people that we've never met. Sure,
- 40:30sure, and that's okay, And that's okay, and that's okay. So
- 40:34absolutely so thank you Scott for helping us keep this rickety ship chugging along.
- 40:44And I'll sail I'll sail at it for as long as I could. Yeah.
- 40:50Yeah. So the second part of this is, you know, we
- 40:55weren't sure how many of the treck Cast listeners really know you, right,
- 41:02and how much you well and how much you want them to know about you.
- 41:08No, I get it, So we you know, we were going
- 41:12to interview you. Yeah, a little bit for a few yeats if that's
- 41:15okay, that's still okay, Daniel, absolutely, Do you have any questions
- 41:20or we are we kind of Yeah, let's let's start with how did you
- 41:22get to Star trek We don't usually win things, but we can, but
- 41:25yeah, how did I get in the Star Trek? So I I remember
- 41:34the first time I actually started paying attention to the show, started watching on
- 41:37TV was right around season three of the Next Generation. And you know,
- 41:44at that age, you know, I was twelve ish, twelve thirteen,
- 41:50I didn't really understand how shows worked, you know. So I'm I'm watching
- 41:57the show that said it Star Trek, and I seem to have remembered watching
- 42:01old episodes of the original series. And keep in mind, this is all
- 42:06in the mind of a twelve year old, and I'm like, I could.
- 42:08I was a little confused. I'm like, is this the same ship
- 42:12and crew only older? Because that bald guy looks nothing like that one Kirk
- 42:16dude. And so I slowly just started watching episodes and I just got I
- 42:21got hooked. And I even remember when Deep Space nine came out, I
- 42:24still wasn't quite sure what I was looking at, Like deep Space nine is
- 42:27this I wasn't familiar with with, Like you know, how there's different versions
- 42:31of ncis Los Angeles and NCY. I wasn't familiar with that concept of,
- 42:36you know, doing different shows based on the same thing. And so I
- 42:39even when Deep Space nine came out. I wasn't quite sure if I was
- 42:42looking at like a made for TV movie or what it was. But I
- 42:45just remember watching season three and then watching my first real memory of Star Trek
- 42:54was the Cliffhanger, Best of Both Worlds, and after that I was just
- 43:00hooked. And so, yeah, I've loved just about I've loved every incarnation
- 43:06of Star Trek, you know, but I am a next generation guy.
- 43:10The Enterprise D is my my favorite ship. Yeah, I gotta love the
- 43:15D. I uh. In two thousand and two, I went to Vegas
- 43:22for the first last and only time, first and only time anyways, uh
- 43:25and went to the Star Trek Experience with my then fiance UH. And we
- 43:34did the Star Trek Experience and we did the ride, and I just remember
- 43:38during the ride, you're you're basically sitting in this You're standing with a bunch
- 43:43of other people in what looks like a waiting room, and then there's some
- 43:46like some commercial doors that look you know, push doors that look like they
- 43:50open up into another room. And I just remember the lights fading, the
- 43:52light's coming back on, and we were standing on the transporter room, the
- 43:57transporter pat of the Enterprise D. And it was d magic, magical thing
- 44:00I've ever experienced. Yeah, yeah, it just fantastic. So remember that.
- 44:05Yeah, my my history was Star Trek is since I was twelve or
- 44:07thirteen. Always been a hardcore fan, and you know, I love the
- 44:15new stuff. I've as far as the original series. My wife and I
- 44:19are just doing a rewatch. Actually for me, it's kind of a first
- 44:22time watch the original series, so I'm getting through that. It's a slog
- 44:29for some of it, it really is. But yeah, that's how I
- 44:32gott into Star Trek. Was just kind of acci. You know, back
- 44:35in the late eighties early nineties, you know a lot of US middle class
- 44:39kind of people. We had like three channels to choose from. It was
- 44:43CBS, ABC, NBC, and maybe some public access. So there wasn't
- 44:49a ton to watch. And I just remember Saturday evenings at seven on CBS
- 44:53they would play new Star Trek New Next Generation episodes, and then the following
- 44:57morning at eleven, they'd play a rewe rerun And I was the guy that
- 45:01I recorded every single one of them on VHS and I would I would try
- 45:06to edit them while I was watching it. So as soon as the commercial
- 45:08break happened, I'd hit the pause button on the record, and then when
- 45:12it had, you know, played again, I'd hit the record button.
- 45:15So I had hundreds of episodes on VHS that I watched dozens of times.
- 45:20So yeah, that's that's where I got my start in Star Trek. Right
- 45:23on Awesome And what was your uh, what was your first exposure to this
- 45:31show? Treck Cast? So I, I guess I have to go back
- 45:37to when I started listening to podcasts, which was probably about thirteen years ago,
- 45:45when I had just gotten out of the Army and I got a job
- 45:51as a truck driver, and I was, you know, truck driving if
- 45:55you're you know, it can be very boring. So I started downloading podcast
- 46:00and one of them I was searching through Star Trek podcasts and I came across
- 46:05Trek Cast and it had the most start Trek sounding title, So that's the
- 46:10one I clicked on and I listened to it for a while, and that's
- 46:16when the original host sort of kind of phased out doing it, and I
- 46:21stopped listening for a while, and then I came back to it a few
- 46:23years later and there was these three new guys hosting it. I'm like,
- 46:28Okay, I'll check this out these guys one of these days years from now,
- 46:37I'm gonna show them how it's done. But so I started, you
- 46:43know, I I listened to you guys for probably a year or so,
- 46:45and then my first interaction with you guys is I went to uh the Henry
- 46:52Ford Museum probably five or six years ago, and they had a Star Trek
- 46:59exhibit. And so about the same time I joined the start the trek Cast
- 47:05Facebook group. Yeah, and so I posted a whole bunch of pictures of
- 47:09the exhibit. I mean, it had like things like the enterprise D models
- 47:17from Star Trek First Contact, the one that the one that broke, the
- 47:23Golden Model, and just things like that. And it was a really big,
- 47:29really big display, really big deal. So I sort of posted every
- 47:32single I probably posted one hundred and fifty pictures on the truck Cast Facebook group.
- 47:37So and then I think Dan reached out. Daniel reached out to me
- 47:45and said, yeah, like when I mentioned that I was going to this,
- 47:51he said, yeah, post your pictures and that kind of stuff.
- 47:52And then and then I remember I must have called in two or three years
- 47:59ago, and just you know, that was my first time talking to you
- 48:05guys. And then I remember when you guys were talking about doing the track
- 48:10cast Chicago. It's Star Trek convention in Chicago, and I'm like, hey,
- 48:15this would be a great opportunity to meet the guys and you know,
- 48:19actually meet because we all listen to podcasts, or some of us listen to
- 48:22podcasts, we you know, and and we feel like I listened to the
- 48:24Adam Krolla show for a decade so much though that you know, you feel
- 48:29like you know the people that because you hear their voice every day they're telling
- 48:32stories. You know. I listened to, you know, the Neil deGrasse
- 48:36Tyson podcast Star Talk. You know, I feel like I know those guys
- 48:39because you listen to them every single day. And it kind of felt the
- 48:45same way with you guys. And then we finally met in Chicago and that
- 48:46had a blast. And it's kind of like that one meme, this one
- 48:52it feels listening to podcasts, yeah exactly, exactly, yep, yep,
- 48:57oh yeah yeah. And so yeah, So then I think after we met
- 49:07up in Chicago, uh you, one of you guys gave me a call
- 49:12or texted me and said, hey, somebody's not going to be on the
- 49:15show, would you mind? Uh, you know, guest hosting. That
- 49:19must have been a year, year and a half ago, and I just
- 49:22remember, like I was so nervous being on the show, you know,
- 49:30because look, as far as I was concerned, I was, I was
- 49:35on the Today Show. Right as far as I was concerned, I was
- 49:37on the Today Show or or or or the Tonight Show. You know,
- 49:42that's how I felt, you know, because in my eyes, you know,
- 49:46like any of my other podcasts hosts or any of my other YouTube channel
- 49:52guys that I follow, you guys are celebrities. We're not. But I
- 50:00when I met you guys at that bar in Chicago, I felt like I
- 50:04was meeting celebrities. Oh geez, you know it's you know, it's funny.
- 50:07I can't remember if it was Daniel or Chad, but I leaned into
- 50:09one of you guys and I said, I feel like a half as celebrity.
- 50:15This is weird. Yeah. So, uh so the first time I
- 50:22guest hosted, all I mean, I I people like my my friends and
- 50:28family said they couldn't tell, but I was so nervous. You never forget
- 50:30your first time, right, Yeah, and it was. It was glorious.
- 50:35It was glorious. But yeah, and when you guys asked me to
- 50:38you know, uh, guest host on a semi permanent basis, I mean
- 50:43again, it's a it's a no brainer. I love doing this. I
- 50:45love to start talking about Star Trek. You guys are awesome. So here
- 50:52it is. Besides Star Trek, what are some of your other favorite franchises
- 50:58out there. I'm a big Superman fan, have been since he died in
- 51:05the nineties. I'm a big Star Wars fan. And you know, when
- 51:13people ask everybody asked if they see a Trek fan that's also a Star Wars
- 51:16fan, they always ask, which is your favorite franchise, And it's like
- 51:19asking, you know, who's your favorite kid. I love both of them
- 51:22for different reasons. Yeah, So who's your Superman of all the movies and
- 51:28shows? You know, I'm a really big fan of the uh Superman and
- 51:32Lois the New the New series Tyler Hecklin. Yeah, I thought he's done
- 51:39a real good job, you know, and he does. We talked about
- 51:43a little bit before. It's I think it's harder to play Clark than it
- 51:46is to play Superman, you know, to play Superman, you just have
- 51:51to, you know, pump your chest out and just say, you know,
- 51:55good day, citizen, and you know, stuff like that. But
- 51:58with Clark, it's it's a much more nuanced character. I really liked Brandon
- 52:02Routh's version, both in Superman Returns and when he reprised the role for the
- 52:09Crisis on Infinite Earth storyline in the arrow Verse. So recently, I have
- 52:17never seen Game of Thrones, and I just spent the last month watching the
- 52:23entire series Game of Thrones, and I loved it. It was fantastic.
- 52:29I even like season one another one that's on my list. Yep. It
- 52:32was really good, definitely worth a watch. I didn't know if I was
- 52:37going to be into it because I'm not super into fantasy, you know.
- 52:42So I'm not like, I don't have anything against dragons and magic. I
- 52:45just not really my thing, you know, medieval kind of thing. But
- 52:50the storylines are great, characters are great, So yeah, I really love
- 52:53that. So yeah, T bear ass Marvel or DC DC. Okay,
- 53:01love Marvel. I mean, you know, Captain America is my favorite Marvel
- 53:05character. You know, him and I have a lot in common. We're
- 53:13both male, and we were both in the military. That's where it ends.
- 53:16Yeah, you're gonna say you're from the forties. Yeah, no,
- 53:21that's it. We're both male and we were both in the military. Oh,
- 53:28so, what do you think about the nine? Oh sorry, somebody
- 53:34said deep State sign a Voyager again? Yeah, t Bear said Voyager de
- 53:37Sace nine Deep Sase nine. I love Voyager. It's uh, it's a
- 53:43close third in my heart, after you know, next Gen Depas nine and
- 53:46then Voyager. But yeah, Dan, you had a question. Uh yeah,
- 53:58it was back to back to Superman's So what do you think of the
- 54:04most recent film version of Superman the Henry Yeah, Henry Cavell does a really
- 54:13good job of playing keall he had. He does a really good job of
- 54:16playing Superman. I thought he did a mediocre job of playing Clark Kent.
- 54:23He doesn't, you know, he he he's too kel l when he's playing
- 54:29Clark Kent. So, and it's it's I I understand, it's it's a
- 54:35it's not much of a difference. You're talking about a guy who's you're talking
- 54:37about the same guy. But you have to understand that Clark is who he
- 54:43is. The facade is Superman. Yeah, Okay, at least in my
- 54:47opinion. You know, Clark is the person he lives his life as because
- 54:52if he you know, if if if Superman was the real guy and he
- 54:54was playing Clark Kent, that would be exhausting for him instead of the opposite
- 55:00of Batman. Batman is the guy Bruce Wayne after disguise, exactly exactly.
- 55:06So what would you think about you mentioned Captain America. What would you think
- 55:10of You know, there's a new film version of Superman coming out, and
- 55:16we were all eager to see what direction they go. What would you think
- 55:22if they took a page out of the Marvel book and wrote him like Captain
- 55:28America, where he's this goody two shoes, watch your language character. Yeah,
- 55:38there's there's a world in a world full of superheroes that aren't always like
- 55:43that, yeahead of having him be just another dark superhero in a world full
- 55:49of dark superheroes, right right, And and that's what people I think like
- 55:52about Clark because he's not Bruce Wayne. He's not Yeah, he is the
- 56:00boy scout, and there are a lot of parallels between Captain America and Superman.
- 56:06So yeah, I think if they went that direction, because you know,
- 56:09DC has tried so hard to become Marvel, to become Infinity War saga
- 56:17that they've they've gotten you know, darker and prettier, and then they've tried
- 56:22to inject humor into it, and I did something like Dan just suggested making
- 56:28it making Superman more like, making Clark more like Steve Rogers. I think
- 56:34that would go a long way towards bringing it back to, you know,
- 56:37him, the humanity side, the human side of of Clark. So yeah,
- 56:43I would. I would like to see that him being the little bit
- 56:45of a boy scout. I like the version of Clark. I like,
- 56:49is is you know, all boy scout just a little just a little bit
- 56:52of bumbling, not not too much, just a little bit the right amount
- 57:00of confidence because obviously the character has for good reason, has reason to be
- 57:08over confident, and you want to be careful with that if you're playing Clark.
- 57:15And you know what, It's something that I miss about characters and the
- 57:20way they've been portrayed lately, is you know, like the flash like Grant
- 57:22Gustin. I love Grant Gustin's portrayal, but the thing that he was missing,
- 57:27the thing that a lot of these characters are missing is like their wittiness,
- 57:35Like Grant Gustin's The Flash. In CW's The Flash, that character is
- 57:40supposed to have like some witty, zingy comebacks. He's supposed to be a
- 57:44little sarcastic sarcasm. That's what I miss in some of these characters is sarcasm.
- 57:49Barry Allen is like a witty comeback, sarcastic kind of like you know,
- 57:53kind of guy, and you never see that in c W's The Flash.
- 57:58I'd like to see. I'd like to see Clark be just a little
- 58:04bit sarcastic, like in a in a in a in a playful way,
- 58:07not in a dark way, just kind of in a playful way. Yeah,
- 58:09So I'm looking forward to it. I I you know, any any
- 58:14obviously, nobody likes change, but uh, I think the studios are just
- 58:19you know, especially DC, they're just desperately trying to find a formula that
- 58:22works. They're trying to find what what Marvel did and uh, you know,
- 58:28we'll find I think marvels to find that formula. Yeah, because they've
- 58:34had some announcements lately, and they've had some changes and some you know,
- 58:37recast decisions. They need to make and you know, they need to bring
- 58:42it back to Iron Man, not the character. They need to bring it
- 58:45back to that that that phase, you know, that phase one energy.
- 58:51And we got one last question from t Bear Discovery or Star Wars episodes eight
- 58:55and nine. Oh wow, I'm glad you asked that question because it leads
- 59:04to another topic about Star Wars. But we went so long without any new
- 59:12Trek, especially TV. The last time, you know, before this whole
- 59:17CBS paramoun plus stuff, the last time we saw a new Trek was Enterprise.
- 59:22And you know, we guys our age might think, oh, that
- 59:25wasn't that long ago. That was a long time ago. Yeah, you
- 59:29know, And I from that standpoint, I really appreciated having Trek back.
- 59:36It has hadn't been great discovery. I think they they went in a direction
- 59:44that not all of us appreciated. I think there's some great talent, you
- 59:47know, so those actors are fantastic, But I think the direction that they
- 59:53went is kind of similar to the direction that Star Wars Wants to go episode
- 1:00:00eight and nine. Episode eight was a train wreck. There was no cohesion.
- 1:00:06Why with that amount of money, talent, history, they just said,
- 1:00:10oh, here you go. Director that nobody kind of really knows.
- 1:00:15You take this and you take the story, and you go in whatever direction
- 1:00:19you want to. We don't even care. And and then he went in
- 1:00:22a direction and then they were like, oh, we didn't like or know
- 1:00:25what direction you went in, so we're gonna kind of pretend that that didn't
- 1:00:30happen. And we did Star Wars episode nine right, it was. It
- 1:00:34was weird. Now, just like with Star Trek, we went so long
- 1:00:37without any Star Wars that when it finally came back, I appreciated it.
- 1:00:45You know, finally lightsabers, Finally, you know, some good old fashioned
- 1:00:49battles, finally some you know, stuff like that. They did some stuff
- 1:00:51in the story that not everybody liked. But that brings me to the news
- 1:00:55story about the next episode ten and what Daisy Ridley is going to reprise her
- 1:01:04role as as race Gywalker and the there's a new director. And she said
- 1:01:13in a some kind of comic con panel that what she wants to do is
- 1:01:17she wants to make men uncomfortable. And I get that. I you know,
- 1:01:22I'm almost as if she was almost saying as if Star Wars didn't have
- 1:01:30any good, strong female characters. And my wife and I were just talking
- 1:01:34about that today. Uh. You know, Princess Leiah man Mathma ahsokah'ska I
- 1:01:40had a series based on a female lead character, one of the arguably one
- 1:01:45of the strongest female characters in Star Wars. Uh So Star Wars has that.
- 1:01:52Yea, they've got it and I and the female characters are great.
- 1:01:53I love Ahsoka is my favorite Star Wars character. She's late to the game.
- 1:01:58If she had said this in Night in ninety seven, right, that
- 1:02:00might right, might be true. So it's seven. Is it okay to
- 1:02:07make men feel uncomfortable in media? Absolutely? Do we need it in Star
- 1:02:12Wars? I don't know. I don't think though. I don't want to
- 1:02:19feel uncomfortable watching a Star Wars movie. I don't want watching a Star Wars
- 1:02:23movie. I don't want to pay twelve dollars to feel uncomfortable, right,
- 1:02:30So is it the place? Is that the place that we want to go
- 1:02:35in Star Wars? In Star Wars? I don't think so. But I
- 1:02:39think you know, we've said this before with Discovery. To me, it's
- 1:02:44not the issue of those types of characters. The issue is how they present
- 1:02:46them, like the storytelling. If it's better. Like, you know,
- 1:02:52Ripley is one of the most badass women characters you've ever seen. That was
- 1:02:57forty something years right, agree, So this idea that just doesn't happen is
- 1:03:01nonsense, right, But she fits well into the story. They present it
- 1:03:07well in the story. That's what it is, right, So I think
- 1:03:10that's that's what needs to be done. But Sarah Connor was nineteen ninety one,
- 1:03:16yeah, two thousand and one, twenty eleven, yeah, twenty twenty
- 1:03:22one. Now we're in twenty so you're talking about almost thirty five years ago.
- 1:03:25Yeah, Sarah Connor was the biggest badass of the summer of nineteen ninety
- 1:03:30one. Absolutely, So yeah, if you make a good yeah, seven
- 1:03:36of nine, if you just just you know, stop saying we're gonna yeah,
- 1:03:45it's a difference of show yeah, just yes, show don't tell yes,
- 1:03:50show us don't tell us show yep. Yeah, give us those examples.
- 1:03:53But yeah, if you have to advertise your intentions, you're not doing
- 1:03:57a good job at your storytin right, right, you got to just make
- 1:04:00it part of it. So yeah, yeah, so all right, and
- 1:04:04I hope nobody misinterprets that. It's all right. I hope nobody misinterprets that,
- 1:04:12you know. Yeah, I don't know what a feminist is in twenty
- 1:04:15twenty four. But you know, I I believe my wife should make just
- 1:04:18as much money as I should doing the same job. Yeah, I still
- 1:04:21open the door for sometimes. So I you know, I don't know where
- 1:04:26I I don't know where I fit in on that spectrum of you know,
- 1:04:30but in Star Wars, Yeah, in Star Wars, star Wars fans,
- 1:04:38and I guess that's who they're making the movie for, right, Star Wars
- 1:04:40fans. We want a certain thing. We want strong characters. That's what
- 1:04:45we want. So that's right, thank you for letting me rant. Sure,
- 1:04:51sure, well let's get to listener feedback. And I actually have a
- 1:04:58new stinger. Oh listener feedback. I love it, love it. And
- 1:05:09that that phone that you saw, that's the new phone. That's the one
- 1:05:14in Data's chest, right, that's right, that's the one it is.
- 1:05:16Just that's right, that's right on our new number five seven zero six six
- 1:05:25one zero zero zero one. Do you have an aversion to modern phones?
- 1:05:30Is that? What's what is that? Yeah? For those of you intently
- 1:05:34staring into your radios, Yeah, there's a there's a phone there that's like
- 1:05:39an old orange or yellow Nokia. They were indestructible, Yes they were,
- 1:05:45Yes they were. I played many games of snake on mine. Yeah.
- 1:05:49All right, Well we got chaz Biz waiting on the line, so let
- 1:05:53me bring him on. There he is. I had to chase some dogs
- 1:05:56outside, so oh yeah, Dan gathers the dog Jasmine John. Yeah,
- 1:06:04what's going on? Man? Hey, jazz Bizz is he there? Do
- 1:06:12we lose him? I think we lost them. He's frozen. He's frozen.
- 1:06:17He's been waiting so long, he's completely frozen. Oh yeah, well
- 1:06:27here he goes. He's coming back. He's going. Okay, okay,
- 1:06:30there he is, great guest. Yeah yeah, Christmas tree is still up.
- 1:06:35That's nothing wrong with that. Nothing wrong with that. Maybe this week,
- 1:06:40let's see, we'll give you to Valentine's Day away into the living room.
- 1:06:46So it's sitting on top of the rider. So is it is that
- 1:06:49a fake tree or a real tree? Okay? Yeah? Did anybody get
- 1:06:55any Trek related Christmas gifts? M hmm, just ornaments, that's it.
- 1:07:01Ornaments. Yeah. No, I got my new Starfleet Academy T shirt.
- 1:07:08Here's a star Trek themed holiday question. Okay, so if you live in
- 1:07:12the twenty fourth of the twenty fifth century, when you take down your Christmas
- 1:07:16tree, do you just shove it in the replicator? Do you recycle it
- 1:07:19in the replicator? You replicated Christmas tree every year? You can store that
- 1:07:24thing stored in the attic. You know, they might have like out there,
- 1:07:30like some purists that actually carry that stuff on that has like a compactable
- 1:07:35Christmas tree. Right, I'm thinking like the jetson was like their vehicle that
- 1:07:40folds up into a briefcase. Yeahm or is it holographic? Do you have
- 1:07:44a holographic are there? You go, that's the answer, perfect. Yeah.
- 1:07:48You tell the computer to and the and the Christmas program and it just
- 1:07:53got a dis or something on the ground and it pops up as a Christmas
- 1:07:56tree and it's seasonal. So you know, I think we need a he's
- 1:08:00got a big bunny. Yeah, I think we can market guys. We
- 1:08:04need some engineer for Federation Day. There's like streamers holographic, give me some
- 1:08:15box. That's great. Oh no, the other fans, it's only fans.
- 1:08:28What is this podcast reading? You're gonna have to put a warning.
- 1:08:33Daniel I know you guys seen the new South Park episodes on Paramount plus No
- 1:08:40no, yeah, the last one is it? Is it on? Yeah?
- 1:08:46Somebody else? There's the pan verse and then there's only there's another one
- 1:08:50about only fans and it's it's pretty fun. Yeah. So it's your paying
- 1:08:58for Paramount plush watch it. So yeah, get your money's worth. Soon
- 1:09:02we're gonna have to pay for all the streaming service. I better not see
- 1:09:04any trek cast. Only fan pages should pop up, Dan, at least
- 1:09:10not without you. Man, you'll see it Franky on there and you know
- 1:09:15oh yeah, uhbas Dan's got his own Franky ears. I mean you could,
- 1:09:20you could do it? Do that? Yeah? Well, did anybody
- 1:09:26watch rebel maon? No? No, no, any good? If you
- 1:09:33want to see a copy and paste of different movies, that's what I've got,
- 1:09:39Samurai. You have white sabers, you have hipo griffs. It's like
- 1:09:44got little Harry Potter in there. You got everything. Yeah, I've heard
- 1:09:48that story subscript. Yeah, and then they already made their own Snyder cut.
- 1:09:58Also, Yeah, there's a Snider cut. And then there's part two
- 1:10:02that comes out and was it April? And then that's gonna have Snyder cuts,
- 1:10:06So there's gonna be a six hour cut of this movie that you gotta
- 1:10:11wait almost a whole year for to watch the complete saga. That's ridiculous.
- 1:10:15Wow. Yeah, and it's it took me five or six times to finish
- 1:10:21it. It was so bad. I saw a clip where I guess this
- 1:10:27lady is a farmer and she's throwing seeds and they literally slow mow her throwing
- 1:10:31seeds, yes, for some reason, and the background looks so fake.
- 1:10:36I mean yeah, it was like a that sounds like a cinematographer that went
- 1:10:41to a community college for cinematography and you know, or watch it a lot
- 1:10:45of YouTube videos on what makes a great cinematographer. Yeah, sounds very artsy.
- 1:10:51Maybe if you watch it at two time speed, it actually makes sense.
- 1:10:55It's all the slimmo. Hey yeah, yeah, do that. And
- 1:10:58I'm not knocking community college is either because I went to one. So yeah,
- 1:11:05that was a great show. So everybody loves community. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:11:13did you guys have what was your mascot? The human beings that went
- 1:11:20over my head head? Community, they can decide on what. Yeah,
- 1:11:28I haven't, I haven't seen the show. Community. That's the one with
- 1:11:30who's the main guy in that, Joe McHale. Yeah, Joe McHale.
- 1:11:38I like Joe McHale. And then it's it's a great show. Chevy Chase
- 1:11:42is in there, and there's an episode of that where the whole it's been
- 1:11:47a few years, but the whole episode takes place in Joel McHale's mind while
- 1:11:51he's in a coma. Yeah, and it looks like an episode of the
- 1:11:56G I. Joe cartoon. Yeah, yeah, episodes and with commercial breaks
- 1:12:05with the kids, you know, played with the great Maybe I should check
- 1:12:11that out. You should check that. It's a great show. It's funny
- 1:12:15you watch it with your wife. I don't know about the kids, but
- 1:12:19it's good, great comedy. And the thing about the human beings is the
- 1:12:25college can decide on everybody was offended about the mascot, so they can figure
- 1:12:32out what color the mascot should be, and then by the end the mascot
- 1:12:38looks like a great alien. And then yeah, I think we had a
- 1:12:45high school around here that had a Native American themed mascott and they got they
- 1:12:50got rid of it, and so all of our local problems have been solved
- 1:12:57now. So yeah, you did it accomplished something. Oh boy, But
- 1:13:04uh, what about Aquaman? You guys watch Akaman over the break? I
- 1:13:10did, I didn't. My son did. Yeah, okay, I'll watch
- 1:13:15it. Watch it was the whole It was this last d C movie,
- 1:13:23right. Yeah, it was a good movie. It was a fun movie.
- 1:13:26I saw it with my son, my eleven year old son. We
- 1:13:29both we both enjoyed it. As far as being the end of the cinematic
- 1:13:35universe, it was kind of anti climactic that it was like a thor type
- 1:13:43movie. They should have flipped it with flash flash in the end. Yes,
- 1:13:46that's what it was. That's what it was supposed to be, and
- 1:13:50for whatever reason, it didn't work out that way. So I kind of
- 1:13:54feel bad for Jason Mamala because well, he's he's gonna loo. Aquaman was
- 1:14:01a good film, and yeah, Man Too was a good film. Yeah.
- 1:14:06And what about gal Gado being a wonder woman? I mean she's she
- 1:14:12was a good wonder woman. Yeah, yes she was. She was good,
- 1:14:15wonderful, easy on the eyes. Yeah. It wasn't the greatest,
- 1:14:19No, it was a no. I did not like nineteen eighty four.
- 1:14:23That was a bad movie. It was just a bad movie. And I'm
- 1:14:27very forgiving with things like that. I'm I I'm not so I am even
- 1:14:32I'll say that was a terrible, terrible movie. There were some good parts
- 1:14:36in it, you know, but yeah, the premise was stupid. Yeah,
- 1:14:44it could have been so much more of it. It kind of Peter.
- 1:14:47I look at the DCEU kind of the same way that I look at
- 1:14:54Discovery. I waited a long time to see if they could fix it,
- 1:14:59and now and now I'm of the mind that it just can't be fixed,
- 1:15:02right. Yeah. And you know, I went to see Aquaman because I
- 1:15:06like the first one, and and you know, I thought it would be
- 1:15:10a fun movie to watch, and it was. And I just kind of
- 1:15:15had to turn my mind off and pretend it wasn't connected to anything the other
- 1:15:20films. And if you do that, if you do that, it's fun
- 1:15:24to watch. The dynamic with him and his brother Orm was was fun to
- 1:15:29watch. It did have a very thor Ragnarok feeling to it. It's kind
- 1:15:34of like, yeah, yeah, the m c U right now, they
- 1:15:39almost need to totally reboot the MCU from scratch. I think that's what they're
- 1:15:44gonna do after Secret Wars yeah, they need to redo it. Start off
- 1:15:48with the X Men and Fantastic Four and well some of the echoes have started
- 1:15:53to age out of the characters. Yeah, you recast like the whole Fantastic
- 1:15:57Four and the X Men and from from X Men all the way down.
- 1:16:02I mean even Patrick stewartt he's too old for Charles Xavier, even though I
- 1:16:06can't think of to an actor an actor better suited to a role. I
- 1:16:14I am so hoping for Doctor Doom to come out, but after the what's
- 1:16:18happened in the last few weeks, I really want Kat Williams to voice Doctor
- 1:16:23Doom. I think that would be great. Man. He's spicy right now.
- 1:16:28Yeah he is. It's great. Yes, he's Yeah, he's in
- 1:16:30the news, in the news. I think it's gonna be on Brogan pretty
- 1:16:34soon, gonna they're gonna get drunk and high, and then you're gonna hear
- 1:16:40like a whole story we'll hear going on. I must have missed something what's
- 1:16:45going on with Kat Williams. So he did an interview with Shannon Sharp and
- 1:16:49basically took down all of Hollywood. And the great thing is, like everyone
- 1:16:54that he's mentioned has come out and made response videos, so you know,
- 1:16:58he hit some nerves. Even got Ludacrous to go back into the studio and
- 1:17:01rate a disc track towards Kat Williams. After what he said about Ludacris.
- 1:17:08It's kind of insane. Did he say something about Kevin Hart, because yeah,
- 1:17:11he did Kevin Hart. Now this is all related to what does this
- 1:17:20that mostly have to do it? So it just calling people out and having
- 1:17:26proof of it right where Kevin Hart specifically, he said that Kevin Hart is
- 1:17:30an industry plant, really had no success before. He just showed up in
- 1:17:35l A and all of a sudden was a big hit. So the industry
- 1:17:39chose him and and gave him basically and the way Kat Williams presents it is
- 1:17:47before that Kevin Hart did not sell out any shows, He did not headline
- 1:17:51anything. He just showed up and became famous, which I mean, the
- 1:17:57studios do pick people, right, We've seen that's all music industry. They
- 1:18:00sounds like my career here, like yeah, that's right, you're an industry
- 1:18:05plant. Yes, you're an industry plant. Yes, some no tail and
- 1:18:10ask clown just starts to the podcast. That's right. But but the thing
- 1:18:15he's dismissing though, is sure they can pick you and put you in those
- 1:18:19rules, but that doesn't necessarily mean you're the guy. You have to work
- 1:18:23at it and keep it going. You know, Like Spielberg has picked out
- 1:18:28a lot of guys that he wanted to be his next boy, and it
- 1:18:30didn't happen. Like the guy from Grimlins, right, I forget his name.
- 1:18:34Nothing happened with that guy, right, yeah, point taking. Yeah,
- 1:18:39yeah, Well it's like Lucas. He picked out like just low budgeted
- 1:18:45actors for Star Wars, even the prequels. You know, he didn't want
- 1:18:49anybody really big in there. See, he didn't like some of these you
- 1:18:55know, big movie stars. You had to spend so much on the budget
- 1:18:59for that, so right right, yeah, Okay, sometimes it's cheaper just
- 1:19:04to go with the low rated guy. You know. It's kind of like
- 1:19:10the MCU how it started. You had Robert Downey that was kind of forgotten
- 1:19:15and now oh he was on his way out. Yeah he was on this
- 1:19:18way yeah, and then he became a superstar afterwards, ye right, right,
- 1:19:24and he was did the smartest thing is he took a percentage and became
- 1:19:28one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood him in the Rock. You know,
- 1:19:33it's funny. They were talking earlier about how Patrick Stewart and Jean lu
- 1:19:38Icard are not the same person. They're not the same personality. The opposite
- 1:19:44of that is is Robert absolutely. Yeah. Oh, you're right. They
- 1:19:53went down you know, person personally, they went kind of went down the
- 1:19:56same path. Yeah, very similar. Yeah, what is that noise?
- 1:20:02That was? That was my watch? My wife texted news. I'm scared
- 1:20:09to look at it. Come on, just let my narcissism fester a little
- 1:20:19bit longer. Don't tell you what? Well, anything else you want to
- 1:20:31bring up? Chas biz before we read? That's I guess that's all I
- 1:20:34mean. Are you guys still doing bi weekly or out show? Oh?
- 1:20:39Yeah, and I'm down to do another episode next week. All right,
- 1:20:47Scott, you and I will figure something. We'll do. Uh, we'll
- 1:20:49do a supplemental. Okay, that's fine, do supplemental. Have fun?
- 1:20:55Yeah, talk about in the meantime, you know, let's do a Paddington
- 1:21:00To review. Watch did you see Wonka? No? I have not director,
- 1:21:09I know I know Paddington To. Yeah, and write that down.
- 1:21:15It was really good. It's a great movie. Yeah, it'll change your
- 1:21:20life. Take your kids to Wonka and you'll have fun. Just a good
- 1:21:26all right, Well thanks, thanks, yeah, thank you so much.
- 1:21:30All right, thank you guys. All right, so something occurred to me.
- 1:21:36People still listen to the audio only version. It's far more popular.
- 1:21:43So it just on the podcast. I want to I want to clarify for
- 1:21:46those people when I talk like this, I'm holding up. No he's not.
- 1:21:51He doesn't have any props. The fourth post, he's putting the little
