- 1:26Speaker 2: in our show notes.
- 1:28Speaker 1: We'll just have one note before we do a synopsis.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Tell me, is it weird that the title of this
- 1:33Speaker 1: song is from nineteen eighty six?
- 1:36Speaker 2: Thank you for looking that up, because I did see
- 1:38Speaker 2: it as a crowded house song, and then I thought
- 1:40Speaker 2: that song wasn't popular in the nineties, but I didn't
- 1:43Speaker 2: look any further. I think it would be hard to source,
- 1:46Speaker 2: like all nineties songs. That's that's no, probably not.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Here. Let me make you a list alternate titles for
- 1:59Speaker 1: episode five. Oh my god, we should do that.
- 2:02Speaker 2: But like, honestly, this is called Don't Dream It's over? Like,
- 2:05Speaker 2: what does it have any relevance to do with the
- 2:09Speaker 2: with the episode? I mean, oh, I guess the divorce
- 2:12Speaker 2: Brady relationship, Well goodbye? It should be like leave get Out?
- 2:17Speaker 1: You know that song? But I think that was the
- 2:19Speaker 1: early Osoh is that that could be from the late nineties. Okay,
- 2:29Speaker 1: let me get you a synopsis really quickly. This episode
- 2:32Speaker 1: is coming out a couple of days late. Wendy, do
- 2:33Speaker 1: you want to tell the people why I broke.
- 2:36Speaker 2: My ankle and I'm fully immobile right now, so I'm
- 2:42Speaker 2: sitting on my couch with my foot up and in
- 2:45Speaker 2: my makeshift podcast studio.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Yeah, the morning we were supposed to record this, I
- 2:50Speaker 1: get it dex from Wendy and she was like, can
- 2:52Speaker 1: you come over? I fell in the garage.
- 2:55Speaker 2: I fully needed like a help. I fall in and
- 2:59Speaker 2: I can't get I added a life alert button. I
- 3:02Speaker 2: now I fully see the importance of those things. I
- 3:05Speaker 2: will never make fun of them again. No, I for
- 3:09Speaker 2: the listeners. I didn't have my phone with me and
- 3:11Speaker 2: I had fallen in the garage and had to crawl
- 3:14Speaker 2: back into the house and.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I text Megan, please come help me? All right?
- 3:20Speaker 2: Episode five, Don't Dream It's Over. Kat and Elliott chaperone
- 3:24Speaker 2: the high school's back to the nineties dance. Alice searches
- 3:28Speaker 2: for a piece of her past in the present day,
- 3:31Speaker 2: Dale says goodbye to more memories as a local landmark
- 3:35Speaker 2: closes its doors. Cool, Can I just say for a
- 3:41Speaker 2: minute before we get back into the recap here. The
- 3:46Speaker 2: closing of the movie Theater was quite sad because it's
- 3:50Speaker 2: happening all over the place, right and not like my
- 3:56Speaker 2: movie Theater is not some like landmark that's been there
- 3:59Speaker 2: for a bazillion Well, how was it thirty years? I
- 4:02Speaker 2: think they said how long it had the Roxy had
- 4:05Speaker 2: been opened, But it's so sad to me.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Yeah, these small local businesses. Yeah, anyway, Well, we open
- 4:15Speaker 1: on a happy family kitchen scene. Brady's making a for Tata.
- 4:19Speaker 1: There's comfortable banter happening, and then Alice wakes up sees
- 4:23Speaker 1: her dad there and she's not thrilled about the fact
- 4:26Speaker 1: that he's in their kitchen. She's super not into Brady
- 4:30Speaker 1: right now, and he's charming Dell. The farm looks great
- 4:33Speaker 1: and he wants to help out, and Dell teaches him
- 4:35Speaker 1: about his manicure. But Dell doesn't have farm work to
- 4:38Speaker 1: do today because apparently she can just take the day.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I don't actually understand what work needs to be done
- 4:42Speaker 1: on this farm, and other than the high schoolers that
- 4:44Speaker 1: help out in the morning, anybody else who works there. Yeah,
- 4:47Speaker 1: they don't have many farm hands right, not that we're
- 4:50Speaker 1: aware of. But this is when we find out that
- 4:54Speaker 1: Joyce and Jude are selling the Roxy home of the
- 5:00Speaker 1: Witch Project first date, and we also hear that Nick
- 5:03Speaker 1: might be flying in for the retirement party, and this
- 5:06Speaker 1: sets Alice off auto trajectory for this entire episode. That
- 5:08Speaker 1: makes me incredibly uncomfortable, super uncomfortable. How are they going
- 5:12Speaker 1: to navigate this one? I well, spoiler alert, they don't
- 5:17Speaker 1: have to in this episode, right, can't ask what Nicks
- 5:20Speaker 1: up to these days? And dyl says something about boats.
- 5:24Speaker 1: He's been bouncing around from job to job. And Brady
- 5:27Speaker 1: wants Alice to hang with him, and she has a
- 5:29Speaker 1: flashback of him being super duchy on their double date
- 5:31Speaker 1: and she declines because she'd like to study.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Okay, I want to stop you here. This is the
- 5:37Speaker 2: second time we've seen this particular scene that she was
- 5:40Speaker 2: like reminiscing.
- 5:41Speaker 1: About Brady as a as a young teenager.
- 5:45Speaker 2: And it's the scene where he makes a joke and says,
- 5:48Speaker 2: do you want to know my blood type?
- 5:50Speaker 1: I'm abe super rare? So what do you use? This
- 5:54Speaker 1: is now twice. What are we thinking? What are we
- 5:57Speaker 1: getting at here? Yeah, there's some sort of foreshadowing that
- 6:01Speaker 1: we don't know what it's foreshadowing toward exactly. I don't know.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Good noticing the Dell kind of pokes the bear, you know.
- 6:09Speaker 1: She says, Oh, well, Elliott's her teacher, and all the
- 6:11Speaker 1: kids love him and I brace for one of many
- 6:15Speaker 1: snide comments from Brady, and he says, yeah, some people
- 6:17Speaker 1: really don't stray so far from home, and that earns
- 6:20Speaker 1: him a look from Dell. Brady invites Kat to hang
- 6:23Speaker 1: pay their respects to the roxy holds your hand in
- 6:26Speaker 1: a moment neither woman in the kitchen really seems to love,
- 6:30Speaker 1: and then Dell compliments sandwiches. Brady tells him how nice
- 6:32Speaker 1: it is to have him here, but then brings on
- 6:34Speaker 1: the Dell charm and tells him not to rock the
- 6:37Speaker 1: boat with her signature Dell Smile in other words, gtf
- 6:41Speaker 1: O Brady, Yeah, I love it, And then we get
- 6:44Speaker 1: the opening title scene and we have music this time,
- 6:47Speaker 1: which is the song for Vashdi by Molly Lennon playing
- 6:51Speaker 1: Oh I didn't catch that good hmmm, I had to
- 6:55Speaker 1: zam it? Oh did you? So? What do you think?
- 6:58Speaker 1: You know? Do you think Dell really doesn't want Brady
- 7:02Speaker 1: hanging around like it's just too much trauma for cat
- 7:08Speaker 1: like let it go? Basically? I do think that.
- 7:12Speaker 2: They pull up to Port Haven High School and Brady
- 7:17Speaker 2: drops Alice at school and Kat is in the front seat,
- 7:20Speaker 2: and we see Alice she's looking at Nick's what I
- 7:24Speaker 2: think is supposed to be his Instagram, and his profile reads,
- 7:28Speaker 2: I paused.
- 7:28Speaker 1: It, he's a boat swaying at swai N I had
- 7:35Speaker 1: to look it at. It's a member of a like
- 7:37Speaker 1: a deck team, like a boat deck team anyway, And
- 7:41Speaker 1: all the pictures were like of like really nice boats
- 7:45Speaker 1: and like motorcycles, so like that's what he's into apparently
- 7:49Speaker 1: these days. And no, no faces. We don't get an
- 7:54Speaker 1: image of present day Nick yet nothing.
- 7:57Speaker 2: So Alice balances and then cats Elliott and she jumps
- 8:01Speaker 2: out of the car too because she wants to talk
- 8:03Speaker 2: to him, where she confronts him on keeping the secret
- 8:07Speaker 2: for so many years, and his reply, which is the
- 8:11Speaker 2: same reply I would have had, is like, after learning
- 8:14Speaker 2: that you can time travel, this is what you're mad about.
- 8:17Speaker 2: I've kept his secret for twenty years, thirty years, whatever.
- 8:21Speaker 2: So she's just really hung up.
- 8:22Speaker 1: On him not telling her about what hold on a second,
- 8:26Speaker 1: about the time travel, about the fact that he knew
- 8:28Speaker 1: Alice in the past. But here's the thing, how how
- 8:31Speaker 1: was he going to say, by the way, your daughter
- 8:33Speaker 1: from the future is your current best friend, or even
- 8:36Speaker 1: your daughter now is time traveling? Back to sixteen year
- 8:39Speaker 1: old you. It just there's no way in which he
- 8:41Speaker 1: could have had that conversation. It had to happen the
- 8:44Speaker 1: way that it did.
- 8:45Speaker 2: They would have been like, who we're gonna call this
- 8:46Speaker 2: guy in on a fifty one fifty because he is
- 8:50Speaker 2: not well right, Yes, there's no there's no conversation you
- 8:54Speaker 2: can have.
- 8:55Speaker 1: No, Elliott, he could not have had this conversation. I agree.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Ellie explains he wanted to tell her but didn't know
- 9:03Speaker 2: what he was dealing with, and it was really funny
- 9:06Speaker 2: because he kept going like on and on like with
- 9:09Speaker 2: all these like scientific hypothesis or whatever. And her response
- 9:16Speaker 2: was like, oh, so many sciencey.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Words like stops. Just tell me in like Layman's term,
- 9:22Speaker 1: what this means.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Kat's frustrated that learning that nineties Alice was her daughter
- 9:29Speaker 2: and that present day Alice must think she's stupid for
- 9:32Speaker 2: not realizing.
- 9:33Speaker 1: It's a lot of like Kat trying to like come
- 9:37Speaker 1: to the realization of like what we're dealing with here,
- 9:41Speaker 1: and Elliott is kind of throughout this entire episode, he's
- 9:44Speaker 1: kind of just the calming presence. He's like, look, both
- 9:48Speaker 1: of those people, childhood cat, adult cat, they're the same person,
- 9:52Speaker 1: focus on the fact that you guys have something really
- 9:54Speaker 1: amazing in common. But Kat is not ready to tell
- 9:56Speaker 1: Alice that she knows. She's more fixated on the that
- 10:00Speaker 1: maybe she can change things or fix things with Jacob.
- 10:04Speaker 1: And here's where I get a headache, as I do
- 10:06Speaker 1: every single time a show, a movie, a book talks
- 10:08Speaker 1: about time travel, because it is a hard thing to
- 10:11Speaker 1: wrap your head around. And Elliott seems to believe in
- 10:15Speaker 1: a singular timeline theory, meaning that everything in the past
- 10:18Speaker 1: has already happened, nothing changes because she was already there.
- 10:22Speaker 1: And this is where I have a bit of a
- 10:26Speaker 1: prediction a thing I'm wondering about, and that is that
- 10:30Speaker 1: I wonder if perhaps adult Cat has some hand in
- 10:34Speaker 1: Jacob's disappearance.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Yes, we talked about this while we sat in urgent
- 10:40Speaker 2: care together the other morning. I was like, what if cat,
- 10:47Speaker 2: adult cat took Jacob in ninety nine and then that's
- 10:51Speaker 2: how he disappeared somehow, But then how do you explain
- 10:55Speaker 2: it in present day where Jacob is. I don't know,
- 10:58Speaker 2: it's real a brain teaser.
- 11:01Speaker 1: I'm hoping that in the next five episodes. Obviously, I
- 11:05Speaker 1: want enough to be open for a second season, but
- 11:07Speaker 1: I'm going to need a significant amount of resolution on
- 11:10Speaker 1: the current storylines to be satisfied with this season of
- 11:13Speaker 1: the show. I agree. There is a moment in the
- 11:16Speaker 1: preview where Kat says, what if we were looking in
- 11:19Speaker 1: the wrong places. There's just a lot that leads me
- 11:22Speaker 1: to believe that there's a reason why Kat can time travel,
- 11:25Speaker 1: and it's not simply so that she can view Alice
- 11:29Speaker 1: time traveling. Right next scene, we are at the point
- 11:32Speaker 1: we don't.
- 11:33Speaker 2: See Monica at all episode, but rid Aandell are getting
- 11:38Speaker 2: coffee and Byron drops in and he tells them he's
- 11:42Speaker 2: happy that they're friends again, and it was kind of
- 11:45Speaker 2: funny because they were like, oh that, oh whatever.
- 11:47Speaker 1: You know, they're big blowout that they had last episode
- 11:50Speaker 1: or the episode before that over the boat thing, but
- 11:52Speaker 1: they're like, yeah, we're friends anyway. In this scene, Byron
- 11:56Speaker 1: asks Dell out and she says no, yep. Rita actually
- 12:02Speaker 1: gives her a hard time about it. Yeah, she says,
- 12:05Speaker 1: you know, even though I don't like Byron, I do
- 12:07Speaker 1: like you Dell. Yeah, why doesn't Rita like Byron? Doesn't
- 12:12Speaker 1: make any sense to me. Rita's a contrarian. I don't
- 12:15Speaker 1: think she likes much.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Okay, I don't know if you saw it, but the
- 12:20Speaker 2: Hallmark Channel put out a bingo card for the Way Home,
- 12:24Speaker 2: and they had a square for Rita and me. What
- 12:28Speaker 2: I did is I like, reposted it, but I put
- 12:30Speaker 2: Rita Rita ing.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Yeah, and just because I was like, she's such a nightmare,
- 12:38Speaker 1: she would be, I think, a hard person to be
- 12:39Speaker 1: friends with. Oh my god. I also think this scene
- 12:42Speaker 1: speaks to it. First of all, I thought it was
- 12:44Speaker 1: really interesting. Rita and Dell had clearly made up, and
- 12:47Speaker 1: I was like, here's Byron, a sixty year old man
- 12:49Speaker 1: who doesn't seem clear on how adult friendships work. But
- 12:52Speaker 1: Rita does seem like the kind of person who shows
- 12:55Speaker 1: up for the people that she genuinely cares about. That's fair.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Women walk into the Roxy and they're continuing this conversation
- 13:02Speaker 1: and about Byron, and in walk Jude Joyce mid argument.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Because Jude is having a hard time purging and letting
- 13:08Speaker 1: things go. This is clearly going to be a little
- 13:12Speaker 1: bit of a plot point here, the number of things
- 13:14Speaker 1: they've held on to. Undel has a mini flashback of
- 13:16Speaker 1: a date with Colton at the Roxy.
- 13:19Speaker 2: The next scene, Alice asks Elliott about Nick coming to town,
- 13:22Speaker 2: and he advises her not to pursue present day Nick
- 13:27Speaker 2: because he is old enough to be her dad and
- 13:30Speaker 2: it's illegal and just don't do it. Like what else
- 13:34Speaker 2: can he say to her? She seems so you know,
- 13:38Speaker 2: she wants to see present day Nick because she has
- 13:42Speaker 2: a crush on him in ninety nine, but like, I
- 13:45Speaker 2: hope he comes and he's like.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Terrible, and she'll be like, ugh, what was I thinking? Yeah,
- 13:51Speaker 1: I hate this a lot. On the one hand, fifteen
- 13:54Speaker 1: year old Alice is in a little bit of a
- 13:57Speaker 1: relationship with this boy, and present day Alice has a
- 14:02Speaker 1: chance to see him. I get it from a fifteen
- 14:04Speaker 1: year old's perspective. From an adult perspective, it's so wrong
- 14:07Speaker 1: and I I just there's so much about it and
- 14:10Speaker 1: we haven't seen the resolution to it. But yikes, yikes, yeah,
- 14:15Speaker 1: yikes is for sure.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Do you remember back in the Day Dawson's Creek. Did
- 14:20Speaker 2: you watch that show?
- 14:21Speaker 1: I did?
- 14:22Speaker 2: Do you remember in the first season, Pacey was having
- 14:24Speaker 2: an affair with a.
- 14:25Speaker 1: Teacher vaguely like gross, Yeah, but.
- 14:29Speaker 2: I can't even believe that was a storyline back then, Like,
- 14:32Speaker 2: I don't want it to be a storyline in this
- 14:35Speaker 2: show where this fifteen year old is with an adult.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I mean it's a bit of a storyline in nine
- 14:40Speaker 1: or two.
- 14:40Speaker 2: And oh also I know, as well as pretty little
- 14:43Speaker 2: liars too.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I just don't. I don't like it. I
- 14:47Speaker 1: don't like you. It's gross.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Spitzer and Zoe Hey, Zoe Zoey would gang. They are
- 14:53Speaker 2: hanging some school dance decor and asks Alice if she's going,
- 14:57Speaker 2: and Alice offers up an idea a theme for the dance,
- 15:02Speaker 2: and it should be party like it's nineteen ninety nine,
- 15:05Speaker 2: which is really kind of cute.
- 15:08Speaker 1: You know, she's so hung up on ninety nine right now.
- 15:11Speaker 1: It's a great dance theme. But I also need to
- 15:13Speaker 1: point out that prior to that, we find out that
- 15:16Speaker 1: they've shot down the enchantment under the Sea idea. Do
- 15:19Speaker 1: you know maybe that's a reference to I think it's
- 15:22Speaker 1: a little Mermaid, it's back to the future. Oh god,
- 15:27Speaker 1: Megan sadly a time or two brilliant.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Well, I do remember that line, and I was like,
- 15:34Speaker 2: are they talking about like what's in the pond?
- 15:38Speaker 1: But enchanting and enteredycy Us from Back to the Future.
- 15:41Speaker 1: You're right, h interesting. So this suggestion lands Alice a
- 15:47Speaker 1: plays on the dance committee, and Spencer and Zoe want
- 15:50Speaker 1: to set Alice up with a date, and she's like, oh,
- 15:52Speaker 1: I'm seeing someone from out of down and he won't
- 15:54Speaker 1: be able to be there. It's very much like the
- 15:56Speaker 1: fake boyfriend from Canada that people would make exactly. But
- 16:01Speaker 1: she uses his name Nick, which I think is very interesting.
- 16:05Speaker 1: That's such a bad idea I don't do. The whole time,
- 16:07Speaker 1: I'm like, oh god, I know, because what if Nick
- 16:11Speaker 1: comes into the point and Spencer's there because his mom
- 16:14Speaker 1: owns the place, and the guy's like, I'm Nick or whatever,
- 16:17Speaker 1: and then Spencer's like what Nick.
- 16:19Speaker 2: We see Kat at the Roxy and she's having some
- 16:21Speaker 2: flashbacks to the teen dates that she had witnessed experienced
- 16:27Speaker 2: back in ninety nine as she's looking through boxes of
- 16:30Speaker 2: movie posters. When she pulls out is Armageddon, which I
- 16:33Speaker 2: also did see in the movie theater.
- 16:35Speaker 1: I loved that movie. I'm not gonna lie. Uh did
- 16:38Speaker 1: you know? I may have told you this.
- 16:40Speaker 2: They made action figures for that movie, like a Bruce Willis.
- 16:44Speaker 1: You have the Beneffleck one.
- 16:45Speaker 2: I did have the ben Affleck one. Thinking it was
- 16:48Speaker 2: gonna be some collector's item. I ended up getting rid
- 16:52Speaker 2: of it. I don't think i've seen it since the
- 16:54Speaker 2: first time I saw it.
- 16:55Speaker 1: I've seen it more than once. Maybe I'll watch it today.
- 16:58Speaker 1: While I'm laying on my couch.
- 16:59Speaker 2: While she's going through the box, she sees Jacob's missing flyer,
- 17:03Speaker 2: missing person's flyer, which that's so sad, yes, but they
- 17:08Speaker 2: are held onto that.
- 17:09Speaker 1: Back in nineteen ninety nine, Cat emerges from the forest
- 17:12Speaker 1: to watch Jacob and Danny playing in the woods, and
- 17:14Speaker 1: they're about to catch Cat, but they catch a glimpse
- 17:17Speaker 1: of her and they think she's the White Witch and
- 17:18Speaker 1: they run away.
- 17:20Speaker 2: You know what's good in the scene is that finally
- 17:22Speaker 2: we don't see them like jumping into the water, emerging from.
- 17:26Speaker 1: The water, and we don't need all that, right, yeah,
- 17:29Speaker 1: not anymore. No, Like we just now ignore the fact
- 17:32Speaker 1: that they're soaking wet, Like there are enough other clues
- 17:37Speaker 1: to the timeline exactly exactly the boys run away. They
- 17:42Speaker 1: leave the bike behind. Did you notice that I didn't
- 17:46Speaker 1: They left the.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Bicycle that they had there out there, And if you
- 17:50Speaker 2: remember from an earlier episode, the picture in the newspaper
- 17:54Speaker 2: was a bike.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Oh, like on the ground. Uh huh.
- 18:00Speaker 2: There was also pumpkins in the picture, which you know
- 18:02Speaker 2: indicated it was like near Halloween, but here there's no pumpkins,
- 18:06Speaker 2: So I don't know, it probably doesn't have any significance.
- 18:10Speaker 2: I thought it was interesting that they didn't grab the
- 18:12Speaker 2: bike and get on the bike and right away they
- 18:15Speaker 2: instead ran off. We cut to Dell's kitchen in the
- 18:17Speaker 2: present day and she's looking at a newspaper article about
- 18:19Speaker 2: the Roxy, and Alice comes home after helping with the
- 18:22Speaker 2: dance committee, and she wants to know what Dell thought
- 18:25Speaker 2: of her dad as a teenager. And Dell's very diplomatic here.
- 18:28Speaker 2: She's really trying to bright side Alice right now. She's
- 18:31Speaker 2: telling her to think of endings as new beginnings, and
- 18:34Speaker 2: Alice slips it right back on her and asks her
- 18:36Speaker 2: that's how she feels about the closing.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Of the Roxy.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Yes, I thought this line was interesting, the ending as
- 18:45Speaker 2: a new beginning. M.
- 18:47Speaker 1: I don't know what does Dell know. Dell knows something.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I think she has to, Okay, she just like spits
- 18:55Speaker 1: this wisdom out and like there's no like tie to
- 18:58Speaker 1: anything like I I think she's a time traveler. Too.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Okay, but I'm always wrong, so who knows the next thing?
- 19:06Speaker 2: Brady arrives, he has coffee and donuts, and he wants
- 19:10Speaker 2: to see Alice, but Alice is gone already.
- 19:14Speaker 1: I don't remember where she went. Did she go back?
- 19:16Speaker 1: Then she went to school? Okay.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Kat and Brady decide that they're going to hang out
- 19:21Speaker 2: and they talk about Rachel and Brady Brady tells Kat like,
- 19:26Speaker 2: you know, he misses talking to her, he misses her
- 19:28Speaker 2: as a friend, and she's really not into this, like
- 19:33Speaker 2: stroll down memory lane like good times.
- 19:37Speaker 1: And I got to say, like, Brady, you're such.
- 19:39Speaker 2: A douchebag, Like it's so emotionally taxing for an ex
- 19:44Speaker 2: to come into your life where maybe his relationship's not
- 19:48Speaker 2: working out but and now he maybe wants to get
- 19:51Speaker 2: back to you. No, dude, you can't have your cake
- 19:53Speaker 2: and eat it too. It just makes me so mad.
- 19:55Speaker 2: I hate Brady.
- 19:56Speaker 1: This episode really solidified my Brady, justlike he really only
- 20:01Speaker 1: cares about himself and can only see things from his perspective.
- 20:05Speaker 1: We learn in this moment. I'm not sure if we
- 20:07Speaker 1: knew this, but his girlfriend Rachel is only twenty six
- 20:10Speaker 1: years old. Yeah, and I really appreciate Kat being the
- 20:14Speaker 1: voice of reason here. She's telling him, you know, not
- 20:17Speaker 1: to get confused. Things were actually bad at the end
- 20:20Speaker 1: of their relationship. They can have a friendship without muddling
- 20:25Speaker 1: romantic feelings in there. Right.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Also that school, and she's scrolling through Nick's Instagram and
- 20:30Speaker 2: she sees photos of Elliott handing Nick a ring and
- 20:36Speaker 2: the caption says something about like being a best man
- 20:39Speaker 2: or whatever.
- 20:40Speaker 1: So now we know that.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Nick was Elliott's best man, and so she runs into
- 20:48Speaker 2: Elliott's office and confronts him about it. And Elliott was like, yeah,
- 20:52Speaker 2: I like to you, I just want you to stay
- 20:54Speaker 2: away from Nick.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Yeah, this is a bad freaking idea. He said. It
- 20:59Speaker 1: was weird of nineteen ninety nine, and it's illegal now. Yes,
- 21:03Speaker 1: get it through your head, Alice, knock it off.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I was this fifteen year old. It's not going
- 21:07Speaker 2: to listen to an adult. She's just absolutely not.
- 21:10Speaker 1: She says love is love, age is but a number,
- 21:13Speaker 1: and Elliott is not here for any of that, and
- 21:15Speaker 1: we cut directly back to nineteen ninety nine, when Elliott
- 21:18Speaker 1: is saying the same thing. It is not cool for
- 21:20Speaker 1: her to be dating in nineteen ninety nine, and Elliott
- 21:24Speaker 1: is worried about what the future implications of this relationship
- 21:27Speaker 1: might be. Right.
- 21:29Speaker 2: So this is a weird transition here because like, she's
- 21:33Speaker 2: having this talk with Elliott in the classroom, but then
- 21:37Speaker 2: we are to think that Alice, then jumped back to
- 21:39Speaker 2: ninety nine, is talking to Elliott again. She's telling Elliott like,
- 21:44Speaker 2: I just want to avoid seeing Brady because she doesn't
- 21:48Speaker 2: care for him. And young Kat comes in and she
- 21:52Speaker 2: invites Alice to dinner.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Yes, she wants Alice to be there because Brady is
- 21:56Speaker 1: meeting the parents, right, and we get kind of a
- 22:00Speaker 1: parallel of dinner's happening, So we jump back to the
- 22:02Speaker 1: present day. We're in Dell's kitchen. We have dinner with
- 22:05Speaker 1: adult Brady and adult Cat and adult Dell. Alice is
- 22:08Speaker 1: not there. She'd switch them for quote dance Committee, which
- 22:12Speaker 1: actually means she's just having dinner in nineteen ninety nine.
- 22:15Speaker 1: And in walks Elliott with a bottle of wine, and
- 22:18Speaker 1: I gotta say, I hate everything that comes next. So
- 22:22Speaker 1: Dell faine surprise that she's forgotten to mention Elliott coming
- 22:25Speaker 1: to dinner, and scene.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Now we're back to ninety nine and it's a family
- 22:30Speaker 2: dinner and Jacob is telling Alice about seeing the White
- 22:33Speaker 2: Witch in the woods, and Colton and the family are
- 22:35Speaker 2: talking to Brady, and this is a really funny mention
- 22:39Speaker 2: that comes up. They're talking about Limp Biscuit, the band
- 22:43Speaker 2: Limp Biscuit, and how Brady's into music and sows Colton
- 22:49Speaker 2: and so on and so forth. And this is a
- 22:53Speaker 2: really weird exchange of conversation because Brady tells Dell, or
- 22:58Speaker 2: he tells the rest of the family life how he
- 23:00Speaker 2: had this like, uh feeling when he came to the
- 23:05Speaker 2: Landry House that it was like coming home, or it
- 23:09Speaker 2: wasn't the first time there.
- 23:10Speaker 1: And she agrees to that. Yeah. Don't you see her
- 23:14Speaker 1: kind of softened to him in this moment? H Yeah,
- 23:19Speaker 1: sort of.
- 23:19Speaker 2: But I don't think it's softening to him. I think
- 23:23Speaker 2: I feel like she is reminiscing herself because she's a
- 23:30Speaker 2: time traveler too and it was not her first time there.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Ah, that's what I think. That's a very good point.
- 23:36Speaker 1: I in this scene, notice that both Dell and Alice
- 23:40Speaker 1: because Brady is just blowing smoke of everyone's asses in
- 23:42Speaker 1: this scene, and this is the line that I as
- 23:46Speaker 1: the viewer was like rolling my eyes, like it feels
- 23:48Speaker 1: like coming home. I hate teenage Brady, but the reaction
- 23:55Speaker 1: that Dell and Alice had was surprising, except obviously Alice
- 23:59Speaker 1: feels that way because we know she's a time traveler
- 24:02Speaker 1: and I like your take on that as well.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Right jump back to present day dinner, Brady and Elliott
- 24:08Speaker 2: are taking jabs at each other, just sparring verbally. He
- 24:12Speaker 2: asks Brady if he still thinks.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Limp Biscuit is the greatest band of all time, which
- 24:18Speaker 1: this is then my next favorite line of the entire episode.
- 24:22Speaker 1: He says, well, they're better than Dave Matthews, and Ellie
- 24:26Speaker 1: goes that tracks. I just love it.
- 24:30Speaker 2: The writing in this show is really good, very good.
- 24:35Speaker 1: I love that Dell bounces in this moment. She has
- 24:37Speaker 1: absolutely no interest in this dick measuring contest that these
- 24:40Speaker 1: men are engaging in at all. Yeah, and Kat has
- 24:44Speaker 1: a real bad idea and says that they should just
- 24:46Speaker 1: open a bottle of wine, and let me tell you what,
- 24:48Speaker 1: the last thing this group needs to do is to
- 24:49Speaker 1: get drunk and lose their filters even further.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Right, exactly, So, Dell leaves, like you said, and she
- 24:56Speaker 2: shows up at Byron's office and basically asks him for
- 25:01Speaker 2: a date.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Yeah, but this is what's interesting. She brings dinner with her.
- 25:04Speaker 1: She just had dinner. I think she took her dinner
- 25:06Speaker 1: with her. I don't know. Yes, she has takeout from
- 25:09Speaker 1: Wally's Chip Wagon. Oh you're right. Oh yeah, that's weird.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I wonder maybe she didn't eat. I don't know, or
- 25:16Speaker 1: maybe she was just being I mean, I could eat twice.
- 25:19Speaker 1: But we learn a little bit more about Delle's attachment
- 25:21Speaker 1: to the theater, and this is not a really surprising information,
- 25:26Speaker 1: but you know, she says she doesn't know what she
- 25:28Speaker 1: would have done without Port Haven, and that is a
- 25:31Speaker 1: big part of Port Haven. It's a big part of
- 25:33Speaker 1: the town. And then she supprises everybody by inviting Byron
- 25:37Speaker 1: to the retirement party as her date.
- 25:42Speaker 2: So now we're back in ninety nine and Alice, Kat
- 25:45Speaker 2: and Brady are hanging out in Kat's bedroom, which I
- 25:48Speaker 2: don't know if I'm comfortable with that.
- 25:50Speaker 1: That's a parrot. Anyway, Alice is like not into it.
- 25:55Speaker 2: She gets up to leave, and as she's like walking
- 25:59Speaker 2: down the stairs, Brady give Kat the the bracelet that
- 26:05Speaker 2: we saw in episode one that she was so angry
- 26:09Speaker 2: about through into the pond.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and it does it seem to you like it's
- 26:14Speaker 1: trying to be that Tiffany charmbracelet that was oh so
- 26:17Speaker 1: popular in the next Yes, the box is Tiffany blue.
- 26:23Speaker 1: So uh, it's a weird vibe because there's like this
- 26:26Speaker 1: like pre makeout vibe going on, and Alice is like,
- 26:29Speaker 1: get me out of here, and whether I am the
- 26:32Speaker 1: future child of these people or these are my friends
- 26:35Speaker 1: not interested in being there for that. But Alice does
- 26:38Speaker 1: soften a little bit at this moment. She does. That's
- 26:41Speaker 1: kind of a sweet moment. But yeah, you'll have not
- 26:44Speaker 1: forgiven Brady in this moment, so just so I see
- 26:46Speaker 1: them like him, Okay, terrible. Alice leaves and she sees
- 26:50Speaker 1: Nick out front and they hang out pops in her car,
- 26:55Speaker 1: and then it cuts back to present day. That's right, Okay,
- 26:57Speaker 1: present day Elliott and Brady and Kat are drinking wine.
- 27:00Speaker 1: It's still awkward. Brady leaves marks his territory by kissing
- 27:04Speaker 1: Cat on the cheek and Elliott shouts by Brady always
- 27:07Speaker 1: a pleasure, and then Alliott invites Cat to be his
- 27:12Speaker 1: state to the high school dance. Kat teases him gives
- 27:15Speaker 1: him a hard time about a limo and a corsage
- 27:17Speaker 1: and come on, Cat, just don't right, He says, forget
- 27:20Speaker 1: about it, but she said of course. She says she'll go,
- 27:24Speaker 1: but Cat's still back on Jacob in the past. She
- 27:27Speaker 1: wants to know if there's anything she can do. Can
- 27:29Speaker 1: she warn him? And Elliott wisely discourages this and tells
- 27:33Speaker 1: her just to be grateful for the gift of getting
- 27:35Speaker 1: to see him again. He is wise here, like he
- 27:37Speaker 1: doesn't want don't mess with the what's that called the
- 27:41Speaker 1: time space continuum?
- 27:43Speaker 2: That's the words I was looking for. Yes, exactly. Back
- 27:47Speaker 2: in nineteen ninety nine, we have Nick and Alison. They're
- 27:49Speaker 2: hanging out on the hood of his car looking at
- 27:52Speaker 2: the stars. I mean, this is what fifteen year olds
- 27:55Speaker 2: think is romantic, so uncomfortable, totally talking about the future,
- 28:01Speaker 2: and she assures him he's gonna be okay, and he says.
- 28:05Speaker 1: He wants to call her, but she explains that.
- 28:08Speaker 2: He can't and I don't know why, Like they just
- 28:13Speaker 2: see each other when she's like magically in town.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Yeah, he says, oh. Elliot says, your parents won't let
- 28:19Speaker 1: you date, and she's like, yeah, it's complicated. But come on,
- 28:23Speaker 1: I guess this is pre cell phone, so she can't
- 28:26Speaker 1: really be giving him pre ubiquitous cell phone, like not
- 28:31Speaker 1: every teenager had a cell phone or eighteen ninety nine,
- 28:33Speaker 1: they plays existed. But it doesn't super hold up for
- 28:37Speaker 1: me that she would not be able to give him
- 28:40Speaker 1: her phone number. He's just supposed to be like, oh,
- 28:42Speaker 1: we bumped into each other, what luck? Yeah, exactly.
- 28:46Speaker 2: So she writes a date on his hand, and she says,
- 28:49Speaker 2: let's let's meet up on this date, which is this
- 28:51Speaker 2: totally random date to him, but it's the date that
- 28:54Speaker 2: the roxy closes.
- 28:56Speaker 1: By the way, another back to the Future reference, because
- 28:58Speaker 1: this is how Back to the Future three happens. Doc
- 29:02Speaker 1: has given Marty a date to meet him. He has
- 29:06Speaker 1: brought a message that has been waiting for ninety years
- 29:09Speaker 1: at the Western Union, and that's how he knows to
- 29:12Speaker 1: go back nineteenth century. So let's go back to the
- 29:17Speaker 1: future references happening here. But also when she's writing that date,
- 29:20Speaker 1: I was like, oh, I hate this so much. Why, Okay,
- 29:23Speaker 1: she's going to be old.
- 29:26Speaker 2: I'm hoping these shows and he's like super hot for
- 29:29Speaker 2: Mike for my own reasons, but oh sure, but I
- 29:32Speaker 2: don't want him to come and have a relationship with her.
- 29:35Speaker 1: No no, no, no, no, no, no no no. So they
- 29:37Speaker 1: smooch in. Then all is well, and then fifteen year
- 29:40Speaker 1: old nineteen ninety nine Alice's world. We cut back to
- 29:45Speaker 1: the farm present day and Dallas in the kitchen at
- 29:48Speaker 1: in walks Elliott with a corsage, looking sharp and kiss
- 29:52Speaker 1: me buy sixpence none the richer plays and it's a
- 29:56Speaker 1: total she's all that moment for me, one hundred percent
- 29:59Speaker 1: it to the Yeah she's all that. Yeah. Kat walks
- 30:03Speaker 1: down the stairs in a red dress, stumbles at the bottom,
- 30:07Speaker 1: and Elliott is not very smooth here and says, she
- 30:09Speaker 1: looks fine.
- 30:10Speaker 2: You know, you know what's funny is that she's all that,
- 30:13Speaker 2: sars Rachel Lee Cook, who is also a familiar face
- 30:16Speaker 2: to the Hallmark Channel these days. Oh yeah, good call,
- 30:19Speaker 2: and it's kind of funny. In walks bummer Brady. He says,
- 30:21Speaker 2: Kat looks stunning. He's there to say goodbye to Alice.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Cat and Brady say quick.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Goodbye, and they have a little bit of a moment
- 30:29Speaker 1: about their daughter's first dance, and Brady asks if it's
- 30:32Speaker 1: too late for him to be a chaperone since it's
- 30:34Speaker 1: his daughter's first dance, and Elliot has the upper hand here, right,
- 30:37Speaker 1: so he says, yeah, don't let the door hitch you, Brady.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Total they go up to Alice's room and she's all
- 30:45Speaker 2: dressed up in her nineties outfit, which Mayan told me
- 30:49Speaker 2: she didn't really enjoy this dress.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Why it didn't feel like it gave me nineties vibes
- 30:54Speaker 1: or twenty twenty three vibes, I don't know. I guess
- 30:56Speaker 1: we've seen her in a lot of nineties costume, so.
- 31:01Speaker 2: Yeah, but she did have the butterfly clips and she
- 31:03Speaker 2: choke her necklace.
- 31:05Speaker 1: I thought she looked cute. Yeah.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Then we have this weird like conversation between Alice and
- 31:12Speaker 2: Brady and she's basically like she's telling him like she's
- 31:18Speaker 2: happy who he is now as an adult.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Yeah, she's like, you have changed from your teenagers. It's
- 31:24Speaker 1: a weird conversation. And I did not actually see the
- 31:27Speaker 1: effect of this conversation coming later in the episode. But
- 31:30Speaker 1: it's weird because he says, oh, did your mother tell
- 31:33Speaker 1: you this? And she's like, no, she thought the world
- 31:35Speaker 1: of you. But and he tells her, you know, I
- 31:38Speaker 1: had to grow up fast when we had you because
- 31:40Speaker 1: I wanted to be the best dad ever. And they
- 31:42Speaker 1: have kind of a nice little bother about her moment there.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Yeah, but don't you think like Brady's would be like,
- 31:47Speaker 2: who told you that I've changed since adulthood or since yeah,
- 31:52Speaker 2: since I was a teenager.
- 31:53Speaker 1: If it wasn't your mom. Yeah, I do think that,
- 31:56Speaker 1: but we get the answer to that, which I did
- 31:57Speaker 1: not anticipate. Okay, his guests question here, would you want
- 32:03Speaker 1: your current teenager to know you as a teenager? Like,
- 32:08Speaker 1: I don't think that's my best selling point. If my
- 32:10Speaker 1: kid could know wait, any time in history, it would
- 32:12Speaker 1: not be me at fifteen years old. No, yeah, I
- 32:14Speaker 1: would agree. They would not fall in love with me
- 32:17Speaker 1: the way Alice love Yeah mother as a teen No,
- 32:21Speaker 1: if my daughter came back to nineteen ninety one, no,
- 32:26Speaker 1: she'd be like, you're a dork. Yeah, totally me too.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Look at that bad perm Yeah, oh that's track. I
- 32:35Speaker 1: don't even want to think about that. Well. Yeah, so
- 32:38Speaker 1: now we're in present day and we're at the dance
- 32:39Speaker 1: and they are playing the worst nineties music at the dance,
- 32:43Speaker 1: like to party? Yeah?
- 32:44Speaker 2: Agree, Alice asks Elliott if she's going to see Nick, Like,
- 32:48Speaker 2: is Nick gonna show up?
- 32:49Speaker 1: Is he gonna come to the Roxy tonight? Her?
- 32:52Speaker 2: Just to have fun at the dance, to be fifteen,
- 32:55Speaker 2: enjoy your friends, do your thing now, don't worry about Nick.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Can't spend some time with your age appropriate friends, he said,
- 33:02Speaker 1: total And we cut back to the Roxy. In there
- 33:06Speaker 1: enjoying a slide show in the theater and Byron joins
- 33:08Speaker 1: Dell with a bottle of wine and he holds her
- 33:11Speaker 1: hand and at the worst possible time, because we get
- 33:14Speaker 1: a shot of Dell and Colton in the theater from
- 33:16Speaker 1: the past, which I kind of wonder, like, how do
- 33:19Speaker 1: we have these shots? Who was taking photos in the
- 33:20Speaker 1: movie theater of nobody takes us there? Yes? Never no,
- 33:24Speaker 1: But she pulls her hand away. Uh, And you know,
- 33:27Speaker 1: Rita made.
- 33:28Speaker 2: The slide show, so Rita that photo was in there, right.
- 33:33Speaker 1: I don't blame her for that. I mean, the more
- 33:36Speaker 1: important thing to me here is like nobody was taking
- 33:39Speaker 1: candid photos of these people, whether or not even looking
- 33:42Speaker 1: at the camera while they're in the theater watching a movie.
- 33:44Speaker 1: These photos don't actually exist.
- 33:46Speaker 2: And we're back at the dance and Elliott is talking
- 33:48Speaker 2: with Katon and they both worry together that Alice is
- 33:51Speaker 2: gonna go looking for Nick, and then Katon Elliott dance.
- 33:56Speaker 2: They dance like to a fast song, like real quick,
- 33:59Speaker 2: like at the end of it.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Yeah, let me inarch you really quickly. Yeah. Though, because
- 34:03Speaker 1: in that moment, when they're worrying that Alice is gonna
- 34:05Speaker 1: go looking for Nick, Elliot's like, I can't imagine he
- 34:07Speaker 1: would put together who Alice is? Excuse me? She looks
- 34:09Speaker 1: identical to how she looked when Nick knew her in
- 34:11Speaker 1: nineteen ninety nine, and if he is in fact showing
- 34:15Speaker 1: up here because he remembered that date and not simply
- 34:17Speaker 1: because his mothers have invited him, I think he would
- 34:21Speaker 1: recognize her, and it's gonna be weird. Oh interesting thought.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Okay, so I don't know if I okay, as a
- 34:31Speaker 2: forty seven year old woman, Now do I remember what
- 34:34Speaker 2: my fifteen year old friends look like.
- 34:36Speaker 1: I don't know your fifteen year old boyfriend first love.
- 34:39Speaker 1: If that person walked up to you as a fifteen
- 34:41Speaker 1: year old, I think you would recognize him. I'd be like, WHOA,
- 34:45Speaker 1: that's weird hers. But especially if he in the context
- 34:50Speaker 1: of showing up at this place, that that person told
- 34:52Speaker 1: you to show up out of context. Maybe not. Oh
- 34:56Speaker 1: my god, this is gonna get weird, totally weird. Okay.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Oh, then now is when we see Cat and Elliott.
- 35:03Speaker 2: They dance, yes, they get on the dance floor too, like,
- 35:06Speaker 2: I don't remember what song was playing, and then they
- 35:09Speaker 2: transitioned into a slow song, which is iris by the
- 35:13Speaker 2: Goo Goo Dolls.
- 35:15Speaker 1: That's appropriate. I like that song. Choyce here, Yeah, I
- 35:18Speaker 1: think so too. I think it's really good too.
- 35:20Speaker 2: She tells him at this point that she back in
- 35:23Speaker 2: ninety nine, her visit to ninety nine, she overheard Elliott
- 35:28Speaker 2: and Nick talking about her. As soon as this like
- 35:31Speaker 2: whole like scene is kind of evolving between like Cat
- 35:37Speaker 2: and Elliott, Brady walks in.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Yeah, right, as Elliott has told Kat, she was like,
- 35:43Speaker 1: you should have come to the dances. I would have
- 35:44Speaker 1: taught you. And he was like, fifteen year old me
- 35:46Speaker 1: could not have handled a slow dance with you. And
- 35:49Speaker 1: we're how Cat doesn't know Elliott's feelings. I don't know,
- 35:52Speaker 1: but seriously, we're almost there. And then walks Brady, and
- 35:56Speaker 1: first of all, who's letting an adult man into this dance?
- 35:58Speaker 1: Uh huh, good question.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Mm hmm and then he like he asks for Elliott,
- 36:03Speaker 2: like by first and last name. You do that when
- 36:06Speaker 2: you don't know what that person looks like, hmmm, don't
- 36:08Speaker 2: you think so? It just was so dumb, like he
- 36:11Speaker 2: came in so hot, Like what are you gonna do?
- 36:13Speaker 1: Dude? Yeah, it would like punch him in the face
- 36:15Speaker 1: in the middle of the dance, right, and he hauls
- 36:18Speaker 1: Kat out of there. Brady's pissed because he thinks that
- 36:21Speaker 1: it was Elliott who told Kat things about him when
- 36:24Speaker 1: he was a teenager. And by the way, even if
- 36:26Speaker 1: this were true, you do not get a vote in
- 36:29Speaker 1: who your ex wife dates. He thinks something is happening
- 36:31Speaker 1: between Cat and Elliott, insists that there is not, even
- 36:35Speaker 1: if there were, even if you're afraid Elliot is going
- 36:38Speaker 1: to turn your ex wife against you because he didn't
- 36:40Speaker 1: like you and still doesn't. Too bad, dude, too bad,
- 36:44Speaker 1: you don't get a vote. I'm mad at this guy.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Real convenient to be mad now, dude. Cat reminds him
- 36:49Speaker 1: of Rachel, and Brady blusters that Cat never told him
- 36:53Speaker 1: she was jealous of Rachel.
- 36:54Speaker 2: I actually thought this was a really good scene, Like
- 36:57Speaker 2: the writing in this scene was really good.
- 37:00Speaker 1: She was like.
- 37:02Speaker 2: Yelling at him and like how about how bad their
- 37:04Speaker 2: marriage had gotten in and how like he didn't like
- 37:06Speaker 2: touch her or whatever.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Right, I just think she needed Yeah, I thought it
- 37:11Speaker 1: was very good, very like emotionally charged. Agree, And she
- 37:17Speaker 1: tells him it's too late, and he kisses her anyway.
- 37:19Speaker 1: He's like, are you sure about that?
- 37:21Speaker 2: He pulls her at whatever. He says like, I was like,
- 37:24Speaker 2: knew that was coming, and I was just waiting, just
- 37:26Speaker 2: waiting for that door in the back to open.
- 37:29Speaker 1: There's Elliott. Oh, I hate Brady. Yep. Sorry, this cuts
- 37:36Speaker 1: to a commercial, and we come back to Cat still
- 37:38Speaker 1: in tears, pushing Brady away and asking him what are
- 37:41Speaker 1: they doing? They got to move on?
- 37:44Speaker 2: Yeah, Alice bounces from the dance and it's really cute.
- 37:49Speaker 2: Spencer's like, but we haven't even got to the Macarena yet,
- 37:52Speaker 2: which is like obviously a nineties dance.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Yep.
- 37:56Speaker 2: She heads out, and she wants to go to the
- 37:58Speaker 2: closing of the roxy in the hopes that she she's
- 38:00Speaker 2: going to see Nick, and so she's in the crowd
- 38:04Speaker 2: out front, and of course now Kat and Elliott are
- 38:08Speaker 2: there as well. They're kind of watching over her. Nick's
- 38:13Speaker 2: moms are talking about the memories and things changing, and
- 38:18Speaker 2: especially about if anybody could go back and make changes
- 38:21Speaker 2: in time, which is significant here, and Kat pulls out
- 38:26Speaker 2: the flyer Jacob's missing flyer and end scene.
- 38:31Speaker 1: This is a really lovely scene to me. While Joyce
- 38:34Speaker 1: and Jude are giving their closing remarks at the end
- 38:38Speaker 1: of the party, we see Kat, we see Alice, we
- 38:41Speaker 1: see Elliott, and there's no additional dialogue from any of them,
- 38:44Speaker 1: but the acting they're doing with their faces is pretty special.
- 38:47Speaker 1: And you see Alice's disappointment in the fact that Nick's
- 38:51Speaker 1: not there, and you see Kat reacting to her daughter
- 38:54Speaker 1: being disappointed, and what must be going on with Elliott
- 38:58Speaker 1: because you know he has some for Alice, And there's
- 39:03Speaker 1: this big emotional scene with Cat. I think it's a
- 39:05Speaker 1: really well produced and acted scene all the way around.
- 39:10Speaker 1: You know what, I didn't watch it that closely at
- 39:11Speaker 1: the very end there. Oh, I will go back and
- 39:14Speaker 1: look at it. It's lovely. Okay, do you have a
- 39:18Speaker 1: suggestion for Homie of the Week. For me, it's Elliott. Oh,
- 39:22Speaker 1: me too. He's just the voice of reason. He's really
- 39:26Speaker 1: there for everybody. He calls Brady on his BS I
- 39:31Speaker 1: loved him in this episode.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Yeah, so did I. I loved him a lot. I
- 39:34Speaker 2: thought he had really good lines. He delivered him really well.
- 39:38Speaker 2: Like obviously the actor, but the character as a whole
- 39:41Speaker 2: I really enjoyed in this episode.
- 39:42Speaker 1: Yeah. I think my favorite scenes in this movie are
- 39:45Speaker 1: between Elliott Adult Elliott and Alice. They're just their banter
- 39:50Speaker 1: is second to none. I agree, they're my favorite duo. Yay.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Do you have any notice in the nineties. I mean,
- 39:58Speaker 1: there's so many in this episod. We talked about a
- 40:01Speaker 1: lot of them. Yeah, I feel like they hit us
- 40:03Speaker 1: over the head in this one. Yeah, it's a lot
- 40:05Speaker 1: of music. We talked about all those songs, the Makarena,
- 40:08Speaker 1: like you mentioned, the Butterfly clips, the Armageddon. Oh yes, uh,
- 40:14Speaker 1: what's that guy's name? They did talk about him in
- 40:17Speaker 1: that movie where he was like doctor Evil, awesome awestin Powers.
- 40:22Speaker 1: That's it. We're halfway through the way home season one.
- 40:31Speaker 1: I need more. I need more answers than questions going forward. Yeah,
- 40:36Speaker 1: I thought this was what I would expect from an
- 40:39Speaker 1: episode number five.
- 40:40Speaker 2: It's like right in the middle. It was kind of
- 40:42Speaker 2: a transition episode from like the beginning and the end obviously,
- 40:47Speaker 2: so I hope going forward we're gonna get more answers.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Well, you're gonna have to come back for future recaps
- 40:54Speaker 1: to find out what questions we get answered. Thanks for
