- 1:09SPEAKER_02: Go see Charlie.
- 1:10SPEAKER_02: Okay, I'm going to check out Charlie.
- 1:12SPEAKER_02: He's the most tawny clown there is here.
- 1:14SPEAKER_02: He's in all the movies.
- 1:16SPEAKER_02: We traveled to America's scariest motel.
- 1:19Sean McAllister: Plus, zombie cricket, a cattle crossing, and the hottest place I have ever been.
- 1:26Dayna Roselli: And it's not in Las Vegas, that's the best part.
- 1:29Dayna Roselli: And the Vegas Loop is approved to extend from the strip to downtown Las Vegas.
- 1:34Dayna Roselli: We'll have the details on that.
- 1:35Sean McAllister: All that with summer brunch and some golf thrown in.
- 1:39Dayna Roselli: Let's get to it and spin that wheel.
- 1:50Sean McAllister: Welcome to Vegas Revealed, episode 123.
- 1:53Sean McAllister: Dana, we're back from a week off.
- 1:56Sean McAllister: That's right.
- 1:56Sean McAllister: We've had I mean we've really been across the country, out of the country, upstate, downstate.
- 2:03Sean McAllister: We've been all over.
- 2:04Dayna Roselli: We really have.
- 2:05Dayna Roselli: We were on vacation first.
- 2:07Dayna Roselli: Um you were on, I feel like you were really on more of a vacation because you actually did tropical things and we were in the middle of the middle of the ocean.
- 2:15Dayna Roselli: I went to visit my family, which was, you know, a vacation and relaxing, but you know, I wasn't, you know, sitting poolside with a margarita.
- 2:24Dayna Roselli: Um then you and I went on a work trip.
- 2:26Dayna Roselli: So we've got a lot to get through.
- 2:28Dayna Roselli: Um, first we want to talk a little bit about.
- 2:31Dayna Roselli: I thought this was interesting because you went on a cruise.
- 2:33Dayna Roselli: Um, you enjoyed it.
- 2:34Dayna Roselli: You beat the the storm that was coming into Florida in order to get on this cruise.
- 2:40Dayna Roselli: We we kind of jiggled some things around and made it work to get you there on time, and it and it all worked out, right?
- 2:46Sean McAllister: Yeah, it was crazy.
- 2:47Sean McAllister: That that tropical system that turned into Tropical Storm Alex that pushed across uh southern Florida really was kind of getting in the way of all of our travel plans.
- 2:58Sean McAllister: We had to move flights earlier so that we could get to Florida because it turned out our original flight ended up being canceled because of the the tropical weather that was pushing through.
- 3:08Sean McAllister: So we got there early, stayed in Florida for a little bit, then got on the the boat, and we're going sailing through this weather that turned into a tropical storm as we were going through it.
- 3:23Sean McAllister: Um but after a day we were out of the out of the nasty weather and we're able to enjoy a nice nice vacation down on the cruise ship.
- 3:32Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 3:33Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 3:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I went to Rochester, New York, saw my parents.
- 3:36Dayna Roselli: It was lovely.
- 3:38Dayna Roselli: Did some walks by the lake, uh, saw some friends, did some cookouts.
- 3:42Dayna Roselli: It was great.
- 3:43Dayna Roselli: Uh really enjoyed seeing the family and friends that are over there in Rochester, New York.
- 3:46Dayna Roselli: The weather was in the 70s.
- 3:48Dayna Roselli: One day it would be a little rainy, then a little sunny.
- 3:51Dayna Roselli: I love like walking out.
- 3:52Dayna Roselli: My favorite thing to do when I go home is take walks because I feel like around here, I don't know, the walks aren't as enjoyable in Las Vegas.
- 3:58Dayna Roselli: I don't know why.
- 3:59Sean McAllister: But yeah, you need to be in very specific parts of the Las Vegas Valley to take a pretty walk.
- 4:06Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 4:06Dayna Roselli: So I enjoyed seeing some rain because that is so rare here lately.
- 4:10Dayna Roselli: Um that was fun.
- 4:12Dayna Roselli: But when you and I were chatting about your vacation, I was asking you about the different islands.
- 4:16Dayna Roselli: And I thought this was interesting.
- 4:17Dayna Roselli: You said I went to Puerto Rico and I've never been anywhere hotter in my life.
- 4:22Dayna Roselli: And I'm like, well, hotter than Vegas?
- 4:24Dayna Roselli: So explain what you mean.
- 4:26Sean McAllister: I mean, it was I can't even fully explain to you how hot it was.
- 4:35Sean McAllister: So Puerto Rico was one of the stops on our our cruise.
- 4:38Sean McAllister: We pulled in to uh old San Juan and we got off the ship first thing in the morning at like seven, eight o'clock in the morning, we got off the ship just to get out and walk around the old downtown area.
- 4:55Sean McAllister: And already by eight, eight thirty, it the sun was just so intense.
- 5:03Sean McAllister: I think the air temperature was only, I don't know, in the mid-80s, maybe low nineties.
- 5:10Sean McAllister: But the sun was just so intense and the humidity was so high that we were just instantly dripping with sweat.
- 5:22Sean McAllister: We were uh just soaked, and there was no uh escaping the sun.
- 5:29Sean McAllister: We had to go we walked out to the the tip of uh the island where there was an old fort, and at least there we had some some of the sea breeze that was blowing across.
- 5:40Sean McAllister: But once we were back in the middle of the buildings and in the downtown area, it just got so hot again.
- 5:48Sean McAllister: We had to stop into a Starbucks, get a refresher, and sit in the air conditioning for a little bit.
- 5:53Dayna Roselli: Well, I was get go sorry, go ahead.
- 6:00Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 6:00Dayna Roselli: Well, I was gonna ask you, so like a lot of people say, oh, I don't care what you say, people say it's a dry heat.
- 6:05Dayna Roselli: 110 is still blazing hot in Vegas, you know, stop trying to skirt around it.
- 6:09Dayna Roselli: And I'm like, well, no, it is hot.
- 6:10Dayna Roselli: But do you think that that is hotter than like 110 in a Vegas summer?
- 6:15Sean McAllister: It's uh a different kind of heat.
- 6:17Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I'll tell you why.
- 6:19Sean McAllister: Because here in uh Las Vegas in the desert southwest, rarely do our humidity levels get above uh, I don't know, like 12%, which is very, very low.
- 6:34Sean McAllister: So any like moisture that's coming off of your body, a good bulk of that evaporates, which actually you know tends to keep you a little cooler.
- 6:44Sean McAllister: But when you're there and it's in the high eighties and extremely high humidity, like there's nowhere for your like perspiration to go except like down your back and soaking into your clothes and just like on you.
- 7:00Sean McAllister: And so you just get that sticky, wet feeling that you don't get here.
- 7:06Sean McAllister: Right.
- 7:07Sean McAllister: It's hot here and it's it I equate it to opening uh the oven door.
- 7:14Sean McAllister: And you know how you get that blast of heat that comes out of the oven?
- 7:18Sean McAllister: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:19Sean McAllister: That's what you get in the summertime here when it's up into the 110s or whatever, you open your front door and you just get that wall of heat, but it's not so do I.
- 7:30Sean McAllister: So do I, but it really is a dry heat.
- 7:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah, right.
- 7:34Dayna Roselli: So it's different.
- 7:35Dayna Roselli: So it's a different kind of heat, but it felt probably something you weren't used to anymore.
- 7:38Dayna Roselli: I mean, we're both from, you know, western New York, where it does get humid, and if it is a hot, you know, which is rare, high 90s kind of day, you feel it.
- 7:47Dayna Roselli: But Puerto Rico, I'm sure the humidity is more intense than western New York.
- 7:51Dayna Roselli: So very much so.
- 7:53Sean McAllister: But it was beautiful.
- 7:55Sean McAllister: I would go back to Puerto Rico in a heartbeat.
- 7:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah, you really enjoyed it.
- 7:59Sean McAllister: Loved it there.
- 8:00Sean McAllister: And the people were great, the the food was great, the drinks were amazing.
- 8:04Sean McAllister: We went to the Bacardi distillery.
- 8:06Sean McAllister: Fun.
- 8:06Sean McAllister: So we had a a drink making class over there.
- 8:10Sean McAllister: So it was great.
- 8:11Dayna Roselli: Oh, that's right up your alley.
- 8:12Sean McAllister: It really is.
- 8:14Dayna Roselli: Well, good.
- 8:14Dayna Roselli: I'm glad you had a good vacation.
- 8:16Dayna Roselli: Something I noticed I was gonna point out, I was laughing at, and I was telling you in you know, all my airport travels here, heading to New York and back.
- 8:22Dayna Roselli: On the way back, I was wearing like a Raider, Las Vegas Raider sweatshirt.
- 8:25Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 8:26Dayna Roselli: And I landed at oh, I was gonna say McCarran, the Harry Reid airport, and um, everyone kept asking me directions and questions about how to get here and where are the taxis and where do I get my bags and is this the way we go?
- 8:39Dayna Roselli: And should we get on the tram?
- 8:40Dayna Roselli: Does this take us to where our bags are?
- 8:41Dayna Roselli: I'm like, why is everyone asking me questions?
- 8:43Dayna Roselli: And then I realized I was wearing a Las Vegas Raider shirt.
- 8:45Dayna Roselli: So, hey, FYI, here's a tip.
- 8:48Dayna Roselli: If you don't want everyone to stop you, don't wear a raider shirt or like a Las Vegas Golden Knights or Vegas Golden Knights, I should say, uh, sweatshirt or t-shirt, because then everyone automatically knows or thinks that you're from Las Vegas and you know everything.
- 9:02Sean McAllister: So you automatically turned into a Las Vegas ambassador.
- 9:06Dayna Roselli: I did.
- 9:06Dayna Roselli: That was I love it.
- 9:07Dayna Roselli: I was laughing, so that was funny.
- 9:09Sean McAllister: And I bet you knew all the answers that people were asking you.
- 9:11Dayna Roselli: I'm not gonna lie, it was kind of fun giving the answers because it was so easy, and I was like, oh, get go this way, hop on here, and blah, blah, blah.
- 9:18Dayna Roselli: And I recommend I was like, take a taxi, not an Uber, if you want to get right to your hotel.
- 9:22Dayna Roselli: They're lined up right outside.
- 9:23Dayna Roselli: It's gonna cost you ten dollars, probably.
- 9:26Dayna Roselli: But if that doesn't bother you, you can walk across the bridge, wait with the masses, wait for your Uber to pull up, but and they were like, okay, we're gonna take the taxi.
- 9:35Dayna Roselli: So that's what I did.
- 9:37Dayna Roselli: But it is more expensive these days.
- 9:39Dayna Roselli: Although I definitely noticed a price difference, but it just depends how bad you want to get to where you're going.
- 9:44Sean McAllister: Side note, speaking of taxis, so when we got back from the cruise, we uh our port our home port was Fort Lauderdale.
- 9:52Sean McAllister: So we had an entire day from getting off the ship in the the morning until our flight at 7 p.m.
- 10:00Sean McAllister: So we decided we would spend the day like going to watch a movie and just like relaxing, doing indoor uh stuff.
- 10:08Sean McAllister: We took a taxi from we dropped our bags at the airport, then took a taxi to the movie theater, and uh the taxi drive we gave him the address, told him where we were going.
- 10:19Sean McAllister: He was like, Well, how do I get there?
- 10:22Sean McAllister: And I was like, I don't know.
- 10:24Sean McAllister: Aren't you the driver?
- 10:26Sean McAllister: I was like, Don't you have a map system that tells you like we gave you the address?
- 10:31Sean McAllister: He was like, You need to tell me how to get there.
- 10:33Sean McAllister: What?
- 10:33Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 10:34Sean McAllister: So I had to pull it up on my phone and give him turn-by-turn directions on how to get to where we were going.
- 10:41Dayna Roselli: My gosh.
- 10:42Sean McAllister: Like, my god, at that point, I should have just rented a car.
- 10:44Dayna Roselli: Well, that's the thing.
- 10:44Dayna Roselli: Lately, you hear all these people wanting to move to Florida because it's free, you know, it's great and you know, mask-free, and you can do whatever you want over there.
- 10:53Dayna Roselli: And I get it.
- 10:54Dayna Roselli: People that want that lifestyle, I know, you know, politics has gotten whatever.
- 10:58Dayna Roselli: But then I think about Florida and I go, things like that.
- 11:02Dayna Roselli: In Miami, when I visit my girlfriend there all the time, they are so rude.
- 11:05Dayna Roselli: Rude.
- 11:06Dayna Roselli: Everything is expensive, the service is awful.
- 11:09Dayna Roselli: I'm like, enjoy Florida.
- 11:11Dayna Roselli: Enjoy it.
- 11:12Dayna Roselli: I don't I like to visit, I don't think I could live there.
- 11:15Sean McAllister: Las Vegas is is my place.
- 11:17Dayna Roselli: Now, if I met a rich billionaire who swept me off my feet and said, you know, I live in Florida, I would I would gladly.
- 11:23Dayna Roselli: That would change the story a little.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:27Dayna Roselli: That would change the story.
- 11:28Dayna Roselli: So, um, okay, so that's vacation.
- 11:31Dayna Roselli: Now let's get to our work trip.
- 11:32Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 11:33Dayna Roselli: Because that was super interesting.
- 11:35Sean McAllister: It was.
- 11:35Dayna Roselli: And I mean, you and I could go on and on and on about this, but we know it's a podcast and people have limited time and and patience.
- 11:42Dayna Roselli: So we're gonna try and condense it all.
- 11:44Dayna Roselli: But you and I took a seven-hour trip north in Nevada, stayed within the state.
- 11:50Dayna Roselli: Uh, we were on a uh video shoot.
- 11:53Dayna Roselli: Um we did interviews and videos for an academy for teenagers up there.
- 11:58Dayna Roselli: Won't get into all that.
- 11:59Dayna Roselli: Uh project that we did with the state.
- 12:01Dayna Roselli: So we thought, well, let's drive, because they said, well, you can either fly to Salt Lake City and then drive south for like three hours or two, or you can drive straight up.
- 12:09Dayna Roselli: But other than that, we have a very tiny airport because where we were going is Carlin, Nevada, which is right near Elko.
- 12:16Sean McAllister: Right.
- 12:16Sean McAllister: So our our flight choices were either to Salt Lake or Reno, but then we'd still have to drive a few hours from there.
- 12:23Sean McAllister: So we were just no, we'll just drive the whole way and you know, make an experience out of it.
- 12:28Dayna Roselli: And I was like, I've never done this drive.
- 12:31Dayna Roselli: I was like, let's do it.
- 12:32Dayna Roselli: And you were like, well, we go up to Salt Lake a lot.
- 12:34Dayna Roselli: I'm kind of used to that direction, but this was a different kind of route because we went more to the west.
- 12:40Sean McAllister: We went kind of like up through the middle of the state of Nevada.
- 12:46Sean McAllister: And you know how sometimes you take a or you take a trip and it's kind of uneventful.
- 12:54Sean McAllister: You know, you go, you stop, you get your gas, you get back in the car, some Doritos.
- 12:59Sean McAllister: Yeah, yeah, it's just whatever.
- 13:01Sean McAllister: Well, this was not one of those trips.
- 13:03Sean McAllister: It was eventful at every single step of the way.
- 13:07Dayna Roselli: It really was.
- 13:08Dayna Roselli: First of all, we were on our way there, we took one route.
- 13:12Dayna Roselli: On our way home, we took another.
- 13:14Dayna Roselli: The first route, um, the landscape changed often.
- 13:18Dayna Roselli: It was still middle of nowhere and desert like, but we we stopped at the Alien 51 rest stop, which was interesting.
- 13:25Dayna Roselli: Well, that's right, Area 51.
- 13:27Sean McAllister: Right, and that's uh a combination uh gas station and brothel.
- 13:34Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 13:34Dayna Roselli: Oh, you were you were pumping gas going, wait a minute, there's a brothel over there, and then you're gonna go in and use the restroom and buy some pretzels and uh Diet Coke.
- 13:43Dayna Roselli: Like this is a weird kind of combination.
- 13:45Sean McAllister: I guess they sell a different kind of jerky at that place.
- 13:49Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so we were amazed at that, but hey, uh, whatever works out there.
- 13:54Dayna Roselli: Uh there were aliens inside and alien fortune tellers and alien uh liquor bottles and shots.
- 14:01Dayna Roselli: It was pretty impressive.
- 14:03Dayna Roselli: It's called the Area 51 Alien Center.
- 14:06Dayna Roselli: It's all green.
- 14:08Dayna Roselli: We put some stuff on our social so you can go take a look at it.
- 14:11Dayna Roselli: But that was our first kind of whatever.
- 14:13Dayna Roselli: Then we're driving north, and uh we start going through some historic towns, and you had some little tidbits of information about stuff, and I was like, okay, cool.
- 14:22Dayna Roselli: And I whipped out the you know, phone, and there was like very, very old towns.
- 14:26Sean McAllister: I mean, oh, these are like mining towns from back in the boom days of Nevada.
- 14:33Dayna Roselli: And this was not one single thing modernized in.
- 14:36Dayna Roselli: Like we didn't drive by, it's not like you drive by like a plaza that was built in 1999, and then there's an old I mean, everything's old.
- 14:45Sean McAllister: Uh like the blacksmith shop is still there.
- 14:47Dayna Roselli: Yeah, you're like it's western.
- 14:48Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's very western.
- 14:50Sean McAllister: I mean, that literally is like an old West town.
- 14:54Sean McAllister: Right.
- 14:54Sean McAllister: Parts of them are like kind of ghost town-y things where the buildings are just still there but not being used, and then there's, you know, homes and businesses that have been built over the years around them.
- 15:07Sean McAllister: Um, but definitely very old Western towns with donkeys roaming around.
- 15:14Dayna Roselli: Donkeys, yeah.
- 15:15Dayna Roselli: And then we loved saying the names of the places we drove by because it would be like the I don't remember some of them, but like the saloon was always like something you'd hear in a movie.
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: You know, like yes.
- 15:25Dayna Roselli: I can't think off the top of my head, but and then we drove by the Mitzpah Hotel, which is uh known to be haunted as well in Tonopah.
- 15:34Dayna Roselli: Tonapah.
- 15:35Dayna Roselli: Yep.
- 15:35Dayna Roselli: And then also we we're driving along.
- 15:39Dayna Roselli: Okay, so we're gonna get to you guys are gonna just this story.
- 15:44Dayna Roselli: We're driving along, and I see like this clown really big clown, and I'm like, is that the clown motel?
- 15:53Dayna Roselli: I've heard about this, and I told you, Sean, pull over, we're going in.
- 15:57Sean McAllister: Yeah, so we pull over into the parking lot of the clown motel, and we're like, oh, you know, since we're here, we should get out and you know, take some selfies, get some pictures.
- 16:08Sean McAllister: When's the next time we're gonna be back at the clown motel?
- 16:11Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 16:11Dayna Roselli: And there's the big clown there, his name's Jolly, he's got a little name tag on, and a lot of people stop and take a picture with Jolly, which is what we did.
- 16:20Dayna Roselli: I was setting up the self-timer, and then from above we hear, you guys want me to take your picture?
- 16:27Dayna Roselli: And you and I are like, sure.
- 16:30Dayna Roselli: Lady that was up there working the clown motel comes down to take our picture, which we thought was really nice.
- 16:36Sean McAllister: So we struck up a conversation.
- 16:38Sean McAllister: She is an employee there at the clown motel, and then she says, Well, do you want to see some rooms?
- 16:46Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 16:47Sean McAllister: We're like, well, yeah, why not?
- 16:50Sean McAllister: And from there, the conversation progressed and we learned so, so much.
- 16:55Dayna Roselli: Oh, we really did.
- 16:56Dayna Roselli: We learned how the clown motel is haunted, and it is known as America's scariest motel.
- 17:04Dayna Roselli: We looked inside the rooms that were themed, and like the clown pictures on the wall are frightening.
- 17:14Dayna Roselli: Some of them were a little bit more fun-loving, I guess.
- 17:18Dayna Roselli: And then Lori, what's her name by the way?
- 17:20Dayna Roselli: We asked Lori, like, do people really stay here?
- 17:25Dayna Roselli: So she's gonna elaborate on that.
- 17:26Dayna Roselli: But one story she did tell us was that, oh, people try to stay here a lot, but sometimes people check in, they go to their room for like an hour and they're like, I can't do it.
- 17:35Dayna Roselli: It's too creepy.
- 17:36Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 17:38Dayna Roselli: So, anyway, I whipped out my phone.
- 17:41Dayna Roselli: Sean and I said, We gotta talk to Lori for the podcast, right?
- 17:46Dayna Roselli: We didn't even tell her, we said, you know, we're we got a podcast, we're gonna do this, but we just let Lori go with her stories.
- 17:51Dayna Roselli: Here's Lori.
- 17:54Sean McAllister: Oh, this is so fun.
- 17:55Sean McAllister: How many theme rooms do you have?
- 17:56Sean McAllister: Five.
- 17:57Sean McAllister: Five theme rooms?
- 17:58Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 17:59Sean McAllister: I know, right?
- 18:01Dayna Roselli: So do a lot of people come stay here?
- 18:05SPEAKER_03: It's packed from well, normally Thursday nights till well, we had them Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week, so yeah, yeah, it's been a full house.
- 18:16SPEAKER_03: Is it like a destination stop?
- 18:20SPEAKER_03: People from all over the world come here.
- 18:22SPEAKER_03: And they bring clowns.
- 18:24Sean McAllister: They bring clowns?
- 18:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but we got 2,000 clowns, over 2,000 clowns in there.
- 18:30SPEAKER_03: Jesus Christ.
- 18:31Sean McAllister: You mean like clown figurines?
- 18:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:34SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 18:35SPEAKER_03: You can act like what if you want.
- 18:39SPEAKER_03: I think I've called a clown before.
- 18:41SPEAKER_03: So the most uh famous one is Charlie.
- 18:44SPEAKER_03: He's the one on American Ghost Hunters and every Discovery, everything.
- 18:50SPEAKER_03: Uh, in the travel channel.
- 18:52SPEAKER_03: But we're built- they are building that so we can push the office out because there's over 2,000 clowns in storage.
- 19:00SPEAKER_03: That's how many people we see.
- 19:04SPEAKER_03: And then they bring them uh or mail them.
- 19:08SPEAKER_03: If you go inside and there's a glass case, when you go inside with two clouds in it, you guys really need to read that.
- 19:14SPEAKER_03: I'm not giving it up.
- 19:16SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 19:17Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 19:19Sean McAllister: So Lori was a hoot, such a character, and so much information, too.
- 19:25Sean McAllister: Uh but the stories didn't end there.
- 19:28Sean McAllister: Lori then started telling us about all of the paranormal activity that people experience at the clown motel.
- 19:39SPEAKER_03: One night there was a blizzard here.
- 19:41SPEAKER_03: I don't know if y'all remember if y'all from Vegas, it was freaking freezing.
- 19:45SPEAKER_03: The winds were 75 miles an hour, okay?
- 19:49SPEAKER_03: And I'm upstairs.
- 19:50SPEAKER_03: And I could see two lights in the graveyard.
- 19:54SPEAKER_03: Okay?
- 19:55SPEAKER_03: And this went on for at least five minutes.
- 19:57SPEAKER_03: I was sitting here.
- 20:00SPEAKER_03: There's no way anybody could hang with that.
- 20:04SPEAKER_03: Not in that weather, buddy.
- 20:06SPEAKER_03: Uh-uh.
- 20:06SPEAKER_03: I couldn't even stand at my window, it was so cold out.
- 20:09SPEAKER_03: It was too old.
- 20:11SPEAKER_03: And they came and they met and they were just warping around.
- 20:14SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 20:15SPEAKER_03: I couldn't leave because I wanted my phone.
- 20:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's still good to me, goosebumps.
- 20:20SPEAKER_03: I wanted my phone to start snapping pictures, but I didn't want to leave the window because I didn't know if I believed it or not.
- 20:27SPEAKER_03: Well, it lasted 15 minutes.
- 20:31SPEAKER_03: No joke.
- 20:32SPEAKER_03: And then what?
- 20:33SPEAKER_03: Did they go away or went away?
- 20:35SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 20:36SPEAKER_03: That was awesome though, and it happened by the sheriff's grave.
- 20:40SPEAKER_03: The sheriff's Logan's grave.
- 20:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean it got my attention.
- 20:45SPEAKER_03: What idiots would be out there in a blizzard.
- 20:48SPEAKER_03: I mean, it was literally a blizzard.
- 20:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so I mean that wasn't my imagination.
- 20:55SPEAKER_03: Actually, a lady caught it on her phone.
- 20:59SPEAKER_03: So it wasn't just me.
- 21:00SPEAKER_03: I wasn't seeing it.
- 21:02Sean McAllister: Do you think any of the paranormal stuff is it?
- 21:06Sean McAllister: Do you think it's mostly linked to the cemetery?
- 21:09SPEAKER_03: Oh god, yeah.
- 21:10Sean McAllister: Since it's right next door.
- 21:11SPEAKER_03: But check it out.
- 21:12SPEAKER_03: They did uh research on the graveyard.
- 21:16SPEAKER_03: We are built on top the graveyard.
- 21:19SPEAKER_03: So are other buildings in Alford.
- 21:22SPEAKER_03: Back in the day, in the early in the late 1800s and early 1900s, there was over 50,000 people here.
- 21:29Sean McAllister: Oh my gosh.
- 21:30SPEAKER_03: So you better believe there was more than But Mother Nature washed out all their, you know, their it was just wood, you know.
- 21:39SPEAKER_03: That's all they had to work with back in the day.
- 21:41SPEAKER_03: And uh Mother Nature washed it out, so nobody really knew that they were building on top.
- 21:49SPEAKER_03: I know that explains it.
- 21:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there you go.
- 21:56SPEAKER_02: So where the clown is the lobby that we go in?
- 21:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm the green.
- 21:59SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: Right through there.
- 22:01SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 22:01SPEAKER_02: Go see Charlie.
- 22:02SPEAKER_02: Okay, I'm going to check out Charlie.
- 22:04SPEAKER_02: He's the most tonic clown there is here.
- 22:06SPEAKER_02: He's in all the movies.
- 22:07SPEAKER_02: Yes?
- 22:08SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 22:08SPEAKER_02: What's your first name?
- 22:09SPEAKER_02: Lori.
- 22:10SPEAKER_02: Lori.
- 22:11SPEAKER_02: Thank you so much, Lori, for coming to the game.
- 22:14Sean McAllister: It was good to meet you.
- 22:16SPEAKER_03: You too.
- 22:17SPEAKER_03: Y'all be safe, okay?
- 22:18Dayna Roselli: Stay safe.
- 22:20Dayna Roselli: What a time we had.
- 22:21Dayna Roselli: We even bought some uh clown motel coffee mugs as a souvenir.
- 22:25Sean McAllister: We did.
- 22:26Dayna Roselli: In the gift shop.
- 22:27Dayna Roselli: And uh it was interesting, let me tell you.
- 22:30Dayna Roselli: We also have some video on our social media.
- 22:32Dayna Roselli: So go to Vegas Revealed or even our personal ones.
- 22:35Dayna Roselli: And we've got the cemetery there.
- 22:37Dayna Roselli: I'm not gonna lie, that thing was that thing was that was creepy.
- 22:41Dayna Roselli: Very.
- 22:42Dayna Roselli: And uh we've got some video of the rooms at the clown motel and Sean's and I's experience and uh little chat with Lori as well.
- 22:50Dayna Roselli: So uh Lori was exactly who you would imagine working at the clown motel.
- 22:56Dayna Roselli: Just you know, stories for days, you know, her I don't know, just her personality, everything.
- 23:02Dayna Roselli: So we enjoyed bumping into Lori and we thank her for the quick tour.
- 23:05Sean McAllister: Yes, absolutely.
- 23:06Sean McAllister: That was definitely a memorable stop to start our our travels.
- 23:12Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 23:12Dayna Roselli: And oh, it's about three hours away from Las Vegas.
- 23:14Dayna Roselli: So FYI, if you're coming into Las Vegas, you're here for a long time looking for a day trip, and you want to go to the clown motel just to look at it and look at some of the historic towns, it'll take you about three hours.
- 23:25Dayna Roselli: And it's pretty much a straight shot.
- 23:27Sean McAllister: And the trip just continued from there with so many experiences and stories, really too many to fit into the podcast.
- 23:39Sean McAllister: But one of the interesting things is that we got stopped on the highway for a cattle crossing.
- 23:46Sean McAllister: There was one pasture on one side of the highway, another pasture on the other.
- 23:51Sean McAllister: The ranchers shut down the traffic on the highway to let this herd of cattle travel across.
- 23:59Dayna Roselli: It was crazy.
- 24:00Dayna Roselli: And you had just got done helping a man at the rest stop load this four-wheeler onto his, he stopped, needed some help.
- 24:06Dayna Roselli: You did a good deed.
- 24:07Dayna Roselli: We get in the car, we're ready to go, and then like this cattle crossing's going on, and the cattle dog, cattle, what do they call it?
- 24:13Sean McAllister: The cattle he was like the cattle dog.
- 24:16Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he was like moving the cows across.
- 24:18Sean McAllister: Border collie.
- 24:20Dayna Roselli: There were cowboys.
- 24:21Dayna Roselli: We were like, is this Yellowstone?
- 24:22Dayna Roselli: Like, where are we?
- 24:24Sean McAllister: It did look exactly like a scene out of Yellowstone.
- 24:27Dayna Roselli: That was interesting.
- 24:28Dayna Roselli: Go to my social media and Sean's social media on Instagram.
- 24:31Dayna Roselli: We have the Cattle Crossing posted.
- 24:33Dayna Roselli: If you've never seen one, we I don't know why we found it so interesting, but it was it just truly was.
- 24:38Sean McAllister: I've never experienced that before.
- 24:41Sean McAllister: I don't know.
- 24:42Dayna Roselli: Cattle crossing.
- 24:43Dayna Roselli: At one point, you guys, we were driving north.
- 24:45Dayna Roselli: There were so many, there was like this area that was like heavily uh engrossed with bugs on the roadway.
- 24:52Dayna Roselli: They were like bugs trying to cross the street.
- 24:55Dayna Roselli: I know this, it was so creepy, to the point where they were smashed over the road where it was a little slick.
- 25:00Sean McAllister: I mean, there were millions, millions and millions and millions.
- 25:03Sean McAllister: They're called uh Mormon crickets, I think is the official name.
- 25:07Sean McAllister: There were some people in the town that were calling them zombie crickets, and they were really they were big.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:14Sean McAllister: And they don't fly like grasshoppers do.
- 25:16Sean McAllister: They like hop along the ground.
- 25:19Sean McAllister: But I mean, there was every few years, apparently this massive swarm comes across northern Nevada, and we happened to be there right in the swarm's path, and the road was just like this gross, like brownish red color.
- 25:37Dayna Roselli: Yeah, because it happened early on, and then then when we got there, it was like another up there toward Carlin that it was another infestation.
- 25:44Dayna Roselli: So they were we ran into them twice.
- 25:46Dayna Roselli: We did, and that was I don't know how I got through it, but we stayed in Elko.
- 25:52Dayna Roselli: Elko was an interesting town too.
- 25:53Dayna Roselli: Again, old, not a lot of new stuff.
- 25:56Dayna Roselli: I mean, there was a JCPenney, I think.
- 25:58Dayna Roselli: And possibly a Walmart.
- 26:00Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 26:01Dayna Roselli: Uh we tried a few of the restaurants.
- 26:02Dayna Roselli: We had Mexican, we had Italian, uh, we enjoyed the the steakhouse at the Maverick Hotel Casino where we stayed.
- 26:09Sean McAllister: Aspen is what it's called.
- 26:11Dayna Roselli: That was the one place we really liked.
- 26:13Dayna Roselli: But um, we met some characters.
- 26:15Dayna Roselli: The Maverick Hotel, I don't know.
- 26:16Dayna Roselli: It wasn't the best experience in the world, but we don't like to give nasty reviews, so we'll just skip that one.
- 26:24Sean McAllister: Because that was a whole nother thing.
- 26:27Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 26:27Dayna Roselli: Anyway, what a trip.
- 26:29Dayna Roselli: Let's move on, because I'm sure everyone's sick of hearing us go on and on about this trip.
- 26:33Sean McAllister: Well, the last thing that I do want to mention about Elko is the establishment that has dancing and diddling girls.
- 26:41unknown: Yes.
- 26:43Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 26:44Dayna Roselli: You and I were like, what is diddling?
- 26:46Dayna Roselli: We had to Google it or actually on Twitter.
- 26:48Sean McAllister: And it happens inside this little establishment right next to this house with kids jumping on trampolines.
- 26:58Dayna Roselli: Oh, you guys.
- 26:59Dayna Roselli: Maybe we'll do a podcast extra sometime and we'll even elaborate on this whole trip.
- 27:04Dayna Roselli: Anyway, Sean and I were very happy to be back in Las Vegas.
- 27:07Dayna Roselli: We saw the buildings as we were pulling in.
- 27:09Dayna Roselli: We're like, ah, well, we it made us appreciate where we live.
- 27:13Dayna Roselli: You know, the small town thing is for people.
- 27:15Dayna Roselli: It's definitely for a certain group of people who love the open space, open land.
- 27:20Dayna Roselli: The, you know, you you know everyone down the road, and it definitely serves a purpose.
- 27:25Dayna Roselli: And some people love it, some people don't.
- 27:28Dayna Roselli: I think we discovered for us, I don't think we could do it.
- 27:32Sean McAllister: Yeah, I don't think so.
- 27:32Sean McAllister: We're Vegas people.
- 27:38Sean McAllister: But we came back to some exciting news here in Las Vegas that will hopefully uh make it a little easier to get around in the years to come.
- 27:48Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 27:49Dayna Roselli: We already have the Vegas loop right near the convention center, kind of gets you from one convention center to the other because we have a brand new one.
- 27:55Dayna Roselli: But now we had told you in the past that they plan on extending that to certain parts of the strip, also uh eventually the airport, and then downtown Las Vegas.
- 28:03Dayna Roselli: Well, a lot of people don't know, and we always try to reiterate that the strip is not considered the city of Las Vegas, it is in Clark County.
- 28:11Dayna Roselli: Clark County had already approved the loop.
- 28:13Dayna Roselli: Now that they want to attach it to the city, uh the city council had to approve the loop.
- 28:18Dayna Roselli: They listened to some concerns and questions from the public and they approved it.
- 28:23Sean McAllister: And so now some of the stops that are proposed, uh, there's a stop at the Plaza Hotel, there's a stop at Circa, a stop at Fremont Street.
- 28:34Sean McAllister: Cool.
- 28:34Sean McAllister: So, you know, it'll help people get down from the Las Vegas Strip to uh the downtown Fremont Street area a little bit easier.
- 28:43Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 28:44Dayna Roselli: And it's gonna go to Resorts World too.
- 28:46Dayna Roselli: And just a quick, just if you don't know what it is, it's the Boring Company, Elon Musk's company.
- 28:52Dayna Roselli: It's electric vehicles that just get you places really quick without the stops.
- 28:58Dayna Roselli: Okay, so I don't know exactly how it's gonna work when it branches off, but you and I were saying like it's gonna have to branch off at certain points.
- 29:05Dayna Roselli: So you basically go straight to where you are going, unlike a subway that stops at many stops along the way.
- 29:12Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 29:12SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 29:13Dayna Roselli: So it's gonna be great underground, and we need stuff underground because we have so much going on kind of above ground right now, around the well, downtown and the strip, which we keep adding things and events, and even we were chatting with a friend the other day saying, I mean, gosh, I don't know how even our infrastructure is gonna handle on all this.
- 29:32Dayna Roselli: There has to be a plan, but we've got the sphere that's almost done, the fountain blue almost done.
- 29:37Sean McAllister: We've got the Formula One Yeah, bunch of construction happening coming in for Formula One right now, too, just off of the strip.
- 29:44Sean McAllister: So it is.
- 29:45Sean McAllister: There is uh a lot that's happening.
- 29:48Dayna Roselli: The loop underground will be a welcome for sure.
- 29:52Dayna Roselli: All right, let's do some tips.
- 29:58Dayna Roselli: First in our tips, let's start with uh STK and their plans for some cool new additions this summer.
- 30:05Dayna Roselli: STK, a great steakhouse at the Cosmopolitan.
- 30:08Dayna Roselli: Never heard anyone say a bad thing about it.
- 30:10Dayna Roselli: Uh everyone always loves the experience.
- 30:11Dayna Roselli: The music's always pumping.
- 30:13Dayna Roselli: You know, it's a little bit of a, I would almost say like slash a nightclub slash steakhouse, right?
- 30:17Sean McAllister: I mean it's a vibe.
- 30:18Sean McAllister: It's a vibe.
- 30:19Sean McAllister: Sure.
- 30:20Dayna Roselli: And it's been there for a long time.
- 30:21Dayna Roselli: It has been there since it opened, the cosmopolitan, right?
- 30:23Dayna Roselli: Yep, it has.
- 30:24Dayna Roselli: And it's uh you know in many other cities across the country as well.
- 30:28Dayna Roselli: So uh not just in Las Vegas.
- 30:30Dayna Roselli: Anyway, they had their little summer solstice uh party last night.
- 30:34Dayna Roselli: You and I went and they were featuring some new things that they have coming for their weekend brunch, and then also some new additions that you can get anytime.
- 30:44Dayna Roselli: So the weekend brunch additions.
- 30:46Dayna Roselli: Well, first of all, I love the uh Bloody Mary bar where you can like they pour the you know the actual drink and then you kind of dress it up with maybe you want to add a little more Tabasco, you want to use some uh bacon and celery and all that kind of thing.
- 30:59Dayna Roselli: That was fun.
- 31:00Sean McAllister: I'm a sucker for a good Bloody Mary bar.
- 31:02Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 31:02Dayna Roselli: It's so good, right?
- 31:03Dayna Roselli: I love spicy, not sweet, so it's right up my alley.
- 31:06Sean McAllister: Yes, a hundred percent.
- 31:08Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and we tried some of the different uh featured items there as well.
- 31:11Dayna Roselli: They had some skewers, they had a great uh ice sculpture with, you know, big, huge plump shrimp and some sliders that were great.
- 31:19Dayna Roselli: I think they had a salmon slider and uh beef slider.
- 31:23Dayna Roselli: I had the beef slider that was delish.
- 31:25Dayna Roselli: So, and then they featured some desserts as well.
- 31:27Dayna Roselli: So they've got a lot of different cool things coming for summer brunch, but then they also had this little kind of like shots, shots, shots presentation, right, Sean?
- 31:37Sean McAllister: It was.
- 31:38Dayna Roselli: And um, the reason this was so special is apparently whip shots are a new addition to STK, and these whip shots, um, apparently you can't find them anywhere else in Las Vegas.
- 31:52Dayna Roselli: It's a first of its kind vodka-infused whip cream, and it's a party in a can launched in 2021 with partner Cardi B.
- 32:02Dayna Roselli: We all know Cardi.
- 32:04Dayna Roselli: It's a playful shot of sophistication that will indulge your curiosity and your senses.
- 32:09Dayna Roselli: That's how they they describe it, okay?
- 32:11Dayna Roselli: And then it contains 10% alcohol ABV.
- 32:16Dayna Roselli: What's that stand for?
- 32:17Sean McAllister: Uh alcohol by value.
- 32:19Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that.
- 32:19Dayna Roselli: And it's shelf stable and non-dairy.
- 32:22Dayna Roselli: So STK is the first restaurant to carry and serve whip shots.
- 32:25Dayna Roselli: So we had a shot with the whip right on top, and that whole thing was quite the presentation, but kind of cool if you're into trying that out.
- 32:34Dayna Roselli: Um, and apparently you can add any flavor of the whip shot, vanilla, caramel, or mocha, to any cocktail or brunch French toast.
- 32:45Sean McAllister: Right.
- 32:45Sean McAllister: So you can have your your alcohol-infused whipped cream right on top of your French toast, make it just that much more decadent.
- 32:53Dayna Roselli: Hope I described that all right.
- 32:55Dayna Roselli: I was reading off some notes, but yeah, it was a lot of fun.
- 32:57Dayna Roselli: We really enjoyed that and and good for STK for always making changes.
- 33:01Dayna Roselli: They always have different kinds of additions, and their brunch is great if you've never been either.
- 33:04Sean McAllister: Yeah, so brunch always a good staple here in Las Vegas during summertime.
- 33:09Sean McAllister: Also, another great spot for summer is Top Golf.
- 33:12Sean McAllister: We've talked about Topgolf before.
- 33:14Sean McAllister: We just recently uh stopped back over there because they have a lot of new programs for summer.
- 33:20Sean McAllister: They have some uh clinics for kids so that there's day camps where kids can go and learn to golf.
- 33:27Sean McAllister: There's uh golf pros who, if you reserve a bay at Top Golf to go and practice, you can have a golf pro come and help analyze your swing, straighten out your shot, make you a little better.
- 33:41Sean McAllister: I mean, down in the pro shop, you can customize your own set of Callaway golf clubs and you know, buy those and take them home.
- 33:50Sean McAllister: So they have a lot going on, but also something big that's coming up is uh fantasy football draft season.
- 33:59Sean McAllister: And there are a lot of great venues inside Top Golf uh that can be rented out for draft parties, which are a big thing here.
- 34:09Dayna Roselli: Yeah, huge.
- 34:10Dayna Roselli: And then when we were there, they also mentioned, hey, remind people the pool is open to the public at Top Golf.
- 34:16Dayna Roselli: And if you didn't know, our Top Golf has a pool.
- 34:19Dayna Roselli: And now, if you want a cabana and all that, that has to be reserved.
- 34:22Dayna Roselli: But there are lounge chairs out there and it's first come, first serve.
- 34:25Dayna Roselli: So if you kind of just want like a pool atmosphere and kind of a Vegasy kind of vibe, I mean, go there and and just get there early and enjoy the pool.
- 34:35Sean McAllister: And it's free, it's free.
- 34:37Sean McAllister: There's plenty of food and beverage there for you, too, and a great view overlooking the the strip there.
- 34:44Sean McAllister: So top golf, you really can't miss it.
- 34:47Sean McAllister: My sister's coming into town next week, and I think we're gonna have a top golf night.
- 34:52Dayna Roselli: Oh, that'll be fun.
- 34:53Dayna Roselli: I really enjoyed the Caesar salad, too, by the way, that they had out for us.
- 34:56Dayna Roselli: The food is great.
- 34:57Dayna Roselli: It was great.
- 34:57Sean McAllister: Uh they have great sliders, they have uh a pretzel charcuterie board and the pretzel.
- 35:06Sean McAllister: I'm uh also a sucker for soft pretzels.
- 35:10Sean McAllister: Like the big Bavarian pretzels.
- 35:12Sean McAllister: This was one of the best pretzels I have ever had.
- 35:15Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it was definitely very soft.
- 35:18Sean McAllister: It was, and they're good, their mustard dipping sauce was so good too.
- 35:22Sean McAllister: Great.
- 35:23Dayna Roselli: I recently had a night at Top Golf with some friends, and we got some buffalo chicken spicy dip kind of thing.
- 35:29Dayna Roselli: That was delicious as well.
- 35:31Dayna Roselli: And you know, I wanted to mention that a couple people DM'd me after they saw a quick um Insta story that I put up saying, Oh, I actually our one of our listeners in Germany said they have one in Germany and he has never been.
- 35:42Dayna Roselli: He's never been, but and I and then he said, Oh, it looks just like our Germany one, and then he sent a link and I said, Yeah, but you don't have a view of the strip.
- 35:49Dayna Roselli: And he said, I know, Vegas always does it better.
- 35:51Dayna Roselli: And I'm like, I know.
- 35:52Dayna Roselli: So he's coming into town in October, so I'm like, you gotta check out Top Golf.
- 35:56Dayna Roselli: Another DM I got is people ask a coup actually a couple saying, It looks difficult.
- 36:00Dayna Roselli: Is it hard?
- 36:01Dayna Roselli: And it's not.
- 36:02Dayna Roselli: So I think that's it's it's you mean to actually play.
- 36:05Dayna Roselli: Actually play.
- 36:05Dayna Roselli: They're like, how do you hit the target?
- 36:07Dayna Roselli: And like it's not, there's so many targets out there that you just kind of like you can be really good and competitive at it, but you can also just go swing and aim, and you know what?
- 36:17Dayna Roselli: Many times your ball will land in one of the targets, and you get a certain amount of points, so it's a lot of fun.
- 36:23Sean McAllister: You do, and the technology that they use there is actually pretty cool too.
- 36:27Sean McAllister: It's the same kind of ball tracking technology that they use if you watch any of the PGA events on TV, you know, that'll show like the big yellow line with the arc of the ball.
- 36:38Sean McAllister: It's the same kind of technology.
- 36:40Sean McAllister: So the monitors, the TV monitors at your golf bay are gonna show you that same kind of shot.
- 36:46Sean McAllister: It'll show you exactly where your ball drops in relation to the targets that are out there.
- 36:51Sean McAllister: It really is meant just to go and have a good time.
- 36:54Sean McAllister: If you're really competitive and you are good at target practice, you can definitely do that.
