Felix, Maryland Zoo’s beloved 43-year-old female elephant and mother of Samson, is being relocated this week to a new facility — not because she’s retiring, but to ensure her well-being. After losing her only female companion in 2024, Felix will finally join a herd of other females, which experts say is vital for her health.
