Transcript
- 0:00Hey, welcome back to the second part of this two-part episode
- 0:06that I have called enthusiasm that endures staying fervent,
- 0:11bold and victorious by the Holy Spirit for our 2026.
- 0:18If you haven't already listened to the first part of this
- 0:22two-part episode, go ahead, check that out.
- 0:26Listen to it to the end and then jump to the second part part of
- 0:30the episode. If you've already listened to
- 0:33the first part, then you're ready to hear Part 2.
- 0:36So here it is now #3 is gratitude.
- 0:41And this is a biggie. This also has the power to
- 0:44change our lives and sustain us with that fire, that enthusiasm
- 0:48in our lives. Expressing gratitude until we
- 0:53have something to be thankful for is not how it works.
- 0:57Gratitude is a past, present, and future.
- 1:01It's saying thank you God for this that you did in my life.
- 1:06Thank you God for what is in my hands today and thank you God
- 1:11for what I'm going to be seeing in my future.
- 1:15Gratitude is not just a response with good things happening in
- 1:21our life. Yes, give em gratitude for that.
- 1:24But most importantly, it's this daily heart posture.
- 1:28Gratitude shifts our focus. It it makes us see the blessings
- 1:33instead of burdens. It makes us see abundance
- 1:36instead of lack. You know, recently when I was
- 1:40putting this these points together, God gave me the story
- 1:45about Elisha and the widow. And Elisha told this widow,
- 1:51what, how much oil do you have? And she said, I have nothing but
- 1:55this small jar of oil. And then Elisha instructed her
- 2:00to go gather as many vessels as she can, borrow them from your
- 2:04neighbors and bring them in. So the widow told her sons, go
- 2:09and get as many vessels as you can.
- 2:12And as she did, the oil got filled up and each vessel to the
- 2:16brim and the oil did not stop until she ran out of vessels.
- 2:22Now God had impressed it on me that there's two things to look
- 2:26at here. The widow at first says I have
- 2:30nothing but the small jar. She had kind of this lack
- 2:34mentality going on right. She was going by what she what
- 2:39she can physically see and I love how Elijah saw what God can
- 2:45do. Elijah saw that God can
- 2:49multiply. God was telling me this is how
- 2:53we need to be looking at things. Look at things the way God sees
- 2:58it. He will multiply whatever you
- 3:01have in your hands. He doesn't see lack, He sees
- 3:05abundance. And I know that this place of
- 3:08gratitude, when we are automatically in a hard posture
- 3:14of gratitude, we're going to look at the increase.
- 3:17We're not going to look at, oh, this is just what I have.
- 3:20No God looks at. This is what I'm going to do
- 3:24with what you have. So thanking God and giving him
- 3:29our praise now, not waiting for change is crucial.
- 3:33Focusing on gratitude will have us start to see solutions and
- 3:38breakthroughs of miracles. It's lifting our hands and
- 3:42praise even when challenges are present.
- 3:44It's declaring thank you God before we even see it.
- 3:48It's about having a heart that is ready to receive and knowing
- 3:52that He did it and gets the glory.
- 3:56OK #4 is a word most of us are repelling against, but it's so
- 4:02crucial if we want to fulfill what God has given to us, and
- 4:07that is discipline. Discipline is the bridge of
- 4:11where you are and where you want to be.
- 4:14So many of us want this but aren't willing to do what's
- 4:20necessary to get there. I know for me, I can easily fall
- 4:24into this trap of just waiting until I feel motivated or I'll
- 4:30wait for a sign to push me forward when really true success
- 4:35is built into the unseen moments of daily discipline.
- 4:40If we want to see the lasting change in our lives, we must
- 4:44commit to discipline. Remember, motivation is
- 4:48temporary. Motivation is good.
- 4:50Great starters, but not the best at finishing.
- 4:54Discipline is everlasting as long as we infuse it into our
- 5:00lifestyle. Discipline is doing something no
- 5:03matter how we feel or what we see or don't see.
- 5:08It surpasses the senses, the physical senses.
- 5:12It surpasses the eyes and the ears and the touch and the
- 5:14taste. Discipline responds to the
- 5:17spiritual knowledge. I think that's why we get so
- 5:22tripped up with disciplines, because we think we need to
- 5:25respond from our natural man, from our feelings.
- 5:30Oh, I don't feel like it, so I'm not going to do it.
- 5:32When really discipline responds from our spirit man for where
- 5:37the Holy Spirit is inside us because we need the help of the
- 5:42Holy Spirit. He is called our health helper,
- 5:46our our teacher, our comforter, right?
- 5:50And we need his help to be consistent.
- 5:54And if we don't intentionally invite him into those daily
- 5:57disciplines, then it's just going to come from our own
- 6:01strength. And when we do that, we fail to
- 6:05execute. Discipline is being consistent
- 6:10day in and day out. It can determine the course we
- 6:15take in life. We've all been there, like I
- 6:18said in the beginning of the message where we start out
- 6:21excited about a goal or dream and that starts to fizzle out
- 6:26because motivation is good at that initial excitement.
- 6:31But motivation is fleeting, right?
- 6:35And discipline will get us where motivation won't get us.
- 6:42Discipline gives us progression and discipline is never easy.
- 6:48Otherwise we'd all be having this ease in doing everything
- 6:54possible because discipline is actually going against what our
- 6:59flesh wants to do. The biblical discipline is the
- 7:03fruit of self-control. That's why it can seem so hard,
- 7:07because we're pushing against the flesh and then enforcing
- 7:10order and obedience. It's saying no to certain foods.
- 7:15It's saying no to idleness. It's saying no to certain movies
- 7:19or shows and then it's saying yes that the things that will
- 7:23will progress us, that will provide, that will be fruitful
- 7:27in our lives. They'll get us where we want to
- 7:29go. Having this ripened fruit of the
- 7:33spirit of self-control controls our flesh.
- 7:37It subdues our flesh from doing whatever it wants to do.
- 7:42And having the self-control is a good thing to have.
- 7:49It's it provides freedom. It provides liberty to live and
- 7:54love the way God has designed us to live.
- 7:58When I licked up, when I looked up the biblical definition of
- 8:02discipline, it said this. It said discipline is training,
- 8:06instruction, correction, fostering spiritual growth,
- 8:11their development and holiness. It's aimed at helping people
- 8:15become more mature in their faith, often containing rebuke
- 8:18or painful experience for a greater good.
- 8:22We got to understand that discipline can be hard work, but
- 8:25the benefits always outweigh the effort eventually.
- 8:30It's daily studying God's word. It's applying all these
- 8:33principles daily like speaking life, surrendering, being still
- 8:37to hear his voice, gratitude. It's also disciplining our mind.
- 8:42I shared this verse earlier, Second Timothy 17, that God did
- 8:47not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound
- 8:51mind. Another version is but of power,
- 8:55love and self-control. A sound mind is a discipline
- 8:59mind. self-control restrains the mind to do whatever it wants,
- 9:04whether it submits to the authority of God's word.
- 9:08Paul was equipping believers here from shrinking back and
- 9:12having this timidity by instructing us to pair all these
- 9:15things up. God's power, love and a
- 9:18disciplined self controlled mind and it will give us great
- 9:22exploits to do in our life for the Lord.
- 9:26A disciplined mind is a renewed mind of the Word.
- 9:30It also parallels with first Peter 47 when he exhorts
- 9:34believers to be clear minded to be in self controlled mind, be
- 9:39sober so that we can pray, indicating that for an effective
- 9:45prayer life we need to have a disciplined mind to fuel
- 9:50effective communication with God.
- 9:53Spirit given discipline enables us to choose what is necessary
- 9:59over comfort or inconvenience. It's really showing up when no
- 10:03one else shows up. It's waking up early instead of
- 10:07feeling like sleeping in to study your Bible.
- 10:10This was key for me when I had littles getting up an hour
- 10:14before they got up so I could have my quiet time with the
- 10:17Lord. When I did, I was fruit of the
- 10:20Spirit was in operation. I was patient and I had peace.
- 10:26The days that I decided to agree with my flesh and sleep, I
- 10:32reaped the consequences. I was impatient.
- 10:35I was a little short tempered. I was not displaying the fruit
- 10:39of the spirit to my kids. I was cranky.
- 10:42I was Moody. So disciplining is putting in
- 10:47the work. You know, it's, it's, it's, it's
- 10:50also doing it and not seeing immediate results either.
- 10:56I love how Zechariah 4 says do not despise the small
- 11:01beginnings. When we start something it
- 11:04doesn't need to be perfect. Perfection will hold us back
- 11:08from starting. We need to be good with learning
- 11:12as we go mentality. That is how most of the time it
- 11:16works. King David started as a
- 11:19shepherd. He didn't know how to already be
- 11:21a king. He learned as he went.
- 11:24Gideon being chosen by God to fight a battle while he's
- 11:28threshing wheat underground in a winepress.
- 11:30So his to to hide from his opposition the media nights so
- 11:36they wouldn't steal his harvest. The Angel of the Lord declared
- 11:41in that moment. The Lord is with you mighty
- 11:44warrior. Gideon hid underground in fear
- 11:48and God called him a mighty warrior.
- 11:52I love this story because God sees the end.
- 11:55He sees what we will become if we will just start saying yes to
- 12:00Him. Picture yourself the way God
- 12:03sees you. What is that dream He has placed
- 12:06in your heart? See yourself living that dream.
- 12:10Get specific. You want to be an author and
- 12:13vision the cover of the book. You want to be a store owner?
- 12:17See yourself decorating the window with your products or
- 12:21greeting customers. Whatever it is, picture yourself
- 12:25there and don't despise the small beginnings to get there.
- 12:30It's doing what God has placed in our hands today to create
- 12:34something, to create something beautiful tomorrow.
- 12:38And we have to implement those good daily disciplined habits so
- 12:43that we can have a new year that's filled with progress and
- 12:47not regress. I don't want the same year as
- 12:51last year. I want a new year with new
- 12:54blessings. I'm going to be on a new level.
- 12:58But I won't get that if I'm not allowing the Holy Spirit to
- 13:03ignite this, this fire, this enthusiasm and apply principles,
- 13:09daily things to produce that, to produce that that fire in me
- 13:17that I need to apply in my life to, to accomplish those
- 13:21assignments and those dreams that He has placed in my life.
- 13:24If we want a deeper relationship with God, then we need to take
- 13:27the time out to be still and listen and be in His presence,
- 13:32Read His word every single day. Most of us, that's an issue in
- 13:38itself. We're not starting our day out
- 13:39right. We're not doing the daily
- 13:42surrender because when we do the daily surrender, all weight, all
- 13:47pressure is off of us. It's on.
- 13:50We give it over to the Lord. So when we come away from that
- 13:53daily surrender, we're enlightened, we feel light,
- 13:57we're like in Christ. I can, right?
- 14:01And so if we want it, same with health.
- 14:05If we want better health, we can't ignore the foods that we
- 14:08eat. We can't ignore exercise.
- 14:11We can't expect results where we haven't planted the seeds.
- 14:17And one of the greatest enemies, hear me now, one of the greatest
- 14:22enemies of discipline is excuses.
- 14:26I'm guilty of this. I'm putting together a
- 14:29devotional book, and I hired an editor and I gave her three
- 14:33devotional entries. And then I allowed every excuse
- 14:37in the book in the latter part of last year from writing more.
- 14:42We say things like, I don't have time, I'm busy.
- 14:46Oh, this happened in my life. But these words keep us in the
- 14:50same place. Excuses keep us in the same
- 14:55place. And I don't know about you, but
- 14:57I don't want to be in the same place as I was in 2025 because
- 15:02the fact is, there will always be an excuse.
- 15:05We'll always find one. We'll always find a reason to
- 15:08delay or procrastinate to avoid taking action.
- 15:12And if we wait for those perfect conditions, we've heard this
- 15:15before, then we'll never get there.
- 15:18And it's true, we have to take action despite challenges or
- 15:22obstacles because discipline, it's never about convenience,
- 15:26but it's about commitment. It's committing ourselves to
- 15:30obey what God has spoken to our hearts.
- 15:33We must choose His voice over the sacrifice.
- 15:37He looks at obedience over sacrifice any day.
- 15:41And I don't know about you, but when I face Him in heaven, I
- 15:45don't want anything left undone. We have to stay anchored in Him.
- 15:49We have to stay anchored in His purpose for our lives.
- 15:54Then then how we're feeling and the emotions because feelings
- 15:58changed and when we are rooted in purpose, that doesn't change.
- 16:04Then we understand why we are doing what we are doing.
- 16:09And then we can remain disciplined even in those hard
- 16:13days throughout the year and beyond.
- 16:16So choose discipline, choose daily relationship fellowship
- 16:22with Him, choose that daily surrender, choose daily
- 16:26gratitude, choose words of life, truth and spirit.
- 16:30And this will sustain us and propel us with those dreams that
- 16:35God has given to us well beyond 2026.
- 16:40So take a moment, this little homework assignment, take a
- 16:44moment after you hit stop on this episode and ask yourself,
- 16:49what are those dreams, visions, or assignments He's given to
- 16:53you? You may already know as you were
- 16:57listening to this episode, you may need to start up again.
- 17:02And that's OK. There is no you can't start up
- 17:07again. You did not fail.
- 17:09You just get up and you apply these principles to get to where
- 17:16God wants to take you. And then out of the four points
- 17:19that we talked about, what action do you need to take?
- 17:24Implement these points in your life in your daily walk with Him
- 17:28and you'll experience this enthusiasm to do what He's
- 17:32called you to do like never before.
- 17:36Let me just pray with you guys right here, right now before we
- 17:39close. Heavenly Father, we just thank
- 17:42you so much for our friend. That's listening.
- 17:44Lord, you know exactly what you have placed in her heart.
- 17:49And I just thank you, God, that this enthusiasm, she's going to
- 17:53be stocking this fire, this holy fire well through 2026 to
- 17:59achieve and accomplish the dreams, visions, assignments
- 18:04that you have given her. I thank you, Lord, that she's
- 18:08going to flow in a grace and an ease that she's going to do her
- 18:12daily surrender so she will not be frustrated, but she will come
- 18:17out with clarity, God, as to what that next step is for her.
- 18:22I thank you for blessings. I thank you for increase.
- 18:25I thank you for fruitfulness, Father, as you just display this
- 18:32in her 2026 throughout every day of the month of this year.
- 18:39I thank you that your word never returns void and that it always
- 18:44accomplishes what you will. We praise you, we honor you, we
- 18:50love you and Jesus mighty name, Amen.
