Gunner Rivers, N.C. State’s star QB and son of the head coach, suffered a knee injury in Saturday’s game but avoided surgery and a season-ending setback — good news for the team. Before the injury, he was having a strong day with 3-of-4 passing for 84 yards and a TD. He went down on a seven-yard run early in the first quarter. Backup Marshall Pitre stepped in, throwing a TD and an INT while completing 11-of-15 passes for 108 yards. St. Michael sits idle this week, with their next game against UMS-Wright on Sept. 4.
