- 1:31Speaker 1: I am joined as I am every show by my
- 1:34Speaker 1: co host, my bff, my companion, my compadre, professional better
- 1:39Speaker 1: Simon Hunter. Hello, Slow Chad, Dog days a summer brother.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Just count the day until football starts. Listen, you're in
- 1:49Speaker 1: a massive, avid, rabid Philadelphia Eagles fan. We've had our
- 1:56Speaker 1: upcoming guest on the show before. Let's keep it clean,
- 1:59Speaker 1: let's sleep it nice, because we're gonna We're gonna bring
- 2:03Speaker 1: in our friend, Tiki Barber, of course New York Giants
- 2:07Speaker 1: football legend, host of Tiki and Tyrney on w f
- 2:11Speaker 1: A n in the afternoons. Also you can see him
- 2:15Speaker 1: on Real Housewives of New Jersey as an all star
- 2:19Speaker 1: softball player. We are now, we are now in business
- 2:24Speaker 1: together because Tiki works with the folks at Nights of
- 2:27Speaker 1: d Gen the new n F t who. We have
- 2:30Speaker 1: a sponsorship and description partnership with uh Tiki welcome on man,
- 2:36Speaker 1: good to see you. I'm glad to be back with you. Guys. Simon,
- 2:38Speaker 1: Are you telling me that you are not comfortable betting
- 2:41Speaker 1: the over with the A's last night? Because I suggested
- 2:45Speaker 1: that to my listeners yesterday and it kind of panned out.
- 2:49Speaker 1: And as Cameron Mayban said, well, I'm actually starting to
- 2:51Speaker 1: like as a broadcast here you try to sneak the cheese,
- 2:54Speaker 1: the high cheese by the red takes more than that.
- 2:58Speaker 1: It was all you started doing show. Did you care
- 3:02Speaker 1: about baseball? Did you care about the NBA? Have you
- 3:05Speaker 1: found yourself needing to become a fan of sports you
- 3:09Speaker 1: didn't care about in order to fill many hours and
- 3:12Speaker 1: talk radio a day. My issue was I didn't grow
- 3:15Speaker 1: up a baseball fan, at least not a fan of
- 3:18Speaker 1: the teams in the in the city that I currently reside.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I grew up as an Atlanta Braves fan only because
- 3:26Speaker 1: TBS had the Braves on everywhere and all the time.
- 3:29Speaker 1: So in Southwest Virginia, I watched the Braves Dale Murphy
- 3:32Speaker 1: and Glenn Hubbard and all those guys. Uh. And then
- 3:35Speaker 1: in those in those early late nineties or early in
- 3:39Speaker 1: late night nineties days, that's why I was a fan
- 3:41Speaker 1: of so when I came to New York, I didn't
- 3:42Speaker 1: really care about the Yankees or the Mets. But ever
- 3:45Speaker 1: since I started Tekey and Tierney on the national level
- 3:49Speaker 1: with my co host Brandon Tierney, who was an enormous
- 3:52Speaker 1: Yankees fan, he's kind of slowly taught me the vernacular
- 3:57Speaker 1: of baseball. So I've learned to talk to talk, so
- 4:00Speaker 1: to speak, and become interested in it. So, yeah, I've
- 4:03Speaker 1: always been a basketball fan, never had really a team.
- 4:06Speaker 1: You can just kind of, as you know, dive into
- 4:08Speaker 1: basketball mid first, second, third quarter, don't really give a
- 4:13Speaker 1: ship what's happening, and by the time you get to
- 4:15Speaker 1: the end it gets exciting. Well, it's also it's a
- 4:18Speaker 1: high school drama everything about and like right now all
- 4:21Speaker 1: the time, you know, between the Knicks and what they
- 4:25Speaker 1: did on Draft night that was so convoluted and confusing,
- 4:28Speaker 1: and now the nets between Kyrie opt in, not opt in,
- 4:32Speaker 1: finally opting in? Is KD You gonna stick around? You've
- 4:35Speaker 1: got enough fodder to last until football starts. No, without
- 4:38Speaker 1: a doubt. Look the the the Knicks are just kicking
- 4:40Speaker 1: it down the road, kicking the can down the road.
- 4:43Speaker 1: We got time. Our fans are patient. They've already proved
- 4:46Speaker 1: it for the last two decades. It's all good. You
- 4:49Speaker 1: got another couple of years. It's true. Simon, do you
- 4:52Speaker 1: have any memories you want to share with Tiki about
- 4:56Speaker 1: Eagles fandom? Because I know how much he's broken your
- 4:58Speaker 1: heart over the year. No, I mean mean thick are
- 5:02Speaker 1: good man? I would say from my two favorite players,
- 5:05Speaker 1: Tiki was number two and number one was Lawrence Taylor,
- 5:07Speaker 1: and it was just I just my earliest memories remember
- 5:10Speaker 1: watching him. I don't know if he picked up either
- 5:13Speaker 1: a running back or wide receiver, but it looked like
- 5:15Speaker 1: like one of those like orcs, like picking up a
- 5:17Speaker 1: little human and just slamming him into the earth. It
- 5:19Speaker 1: was just like, who is this man? And then uh,
- 5:23Speaker 1: water Boy came out say years later, and there he
- 5:26Speaker 1: was again. I was just like, Okay, so this guy
- 5:29Speaker 1: is a freak on the field and he's hilarious off
- 5:30Speaker 1: the field. I was all in on Lawrence Taylor, but
- 5:34Speaker 1: we had this air where when he came in, it
- 5:36Speaker 1: was like him in Westbrook and there was a couple
- 5:38Speaker 1: other running backs that again'm not saying you guys were
- 5:40Speaker 1: on your side, but you were different. You you could
- 5:42Speaker 1: catch the ball, you could run with it, Yeah, you
- 5:45Speaker 1: could do punt return. I mean all of it. I
- 5:47Speaker 1: loved it like that was just a really special error
- 5:49Speaker 1: for me. And that was when the Eagles were you know,
- 5:51Speaker 1: we couldn't get over the hump. We just didn't win
- 5:53Speaker 1: super Bowls. We kept one of the division, and then
- 5:55Speaker 1: here comes the Giants. They would just always either get
- 5:57Speaker 1: in the wild card and they would go further than us. So,
- 5:59Speaker 1: you know, it was a weird time where it was
- 6:01Speaker 1: like I didn't hate Tiki because I love the way
- 6:04Speaker 1: he played so much, but man, I hate Eli, Like
- 6:07Speaker 1: I really hated Eli. But then Eli did what we
- 6:09Speaker 1: all wanted. He took down Tom Brady. So I eventually
- 6:13Speaker 1: loved Eli. Like the old Chucks, Eli kind of five,
- 6:17Speaker 1: you know. So it's it's just funny it all it
- 6:19Speaker 1: comes full circle where I don't really have ill will
- 6:21Speaker 1: towards the Giants, but like the Cowboys, I hate the
- 6:24Speaker 1: Cowboys more than you could ever believe. I think it's
- 6:26Speaker 1: just you know, we're on that New Jersey. I have
- 6:28Speaker 1: a lot of friends who are Giants fans. It's it's
- 6:30Speaker 1: just part of life. Like we we are you we
- 6:32Speaker 1: fight about it. In the end, we really don't care, right,
- 6:35Speaker 1: I have Dallas friends who I don't talk to the
- 6:37Speaker 1: whole week Like Dallas week, we don't talk. So it's
- 6:40Speaker 1: funny that's changed where I just think it maybe some
- 6:42Speaker 1: New Jersey thing. There's just so much of us together,
- 6:45Speaker 1: of the Giants fansies, Egos fans. It's not as bad
- 6:47Speaker 1: as it used to be. Chad and Simon, we gave
- 6:51Speaker 1: you the game plan on how to beat the New
- 6:53Speaker 1: England Patriots because they've only lost three Super Bowls and
- 6:56Speaker 1: they've been to NFC East teams in New York Giants
- 6:59Speaker 1: twice and the Philadelphia Eagles as we all know. But Chad,
- 7:02Speaker 1: you asked the wrong question. Simon loves this barber, he
- 7:07Speaker 1: hates the other barber. That's right, that's right. Who went
- 7:11Speaker 1: nine two going like this that Donovan McNair to send
- 7:15Speaker 1: him home, Go home, Eagles closing down the vet? The
- 7:21Speaker 1: vet was that a pick a pick six to end
- 7:23Speaker 1: our hopes and dreams are going to a super Bowl
- 7:25Speaker 1: here it is? So you asked the wrong question, Chack,
- 7:28Speaker 1: I did. I totally did. I completely forgot about that. Uh,
- 7:32Speaker 1: what do you think of this offseason? There's been a
- 7:35Speaker 1: lot of news, especially with the Bucks last time when
- 7:38Speaker 1: you were on the show, and I want you to
- 7:40Speaker 1: remind people you told this great story about Bruce Arians
- 7:45Speaker 1: and Bruce arians relationship to you and your family. Remind
- 7:49Speaker 1: people of that story and then what do you think
- 7:52Speaker 1: of sort of the transition. So Bruce is the man,
- 7:55Speaker 1: He's always been the coolest man in the room, and
- 7:58Speaker 1: that goes all the way back to college at Ginia
- 8:00Speaker 1: Tech where Bruce and my father, who ever kindled my
- 8:04Speaker 1: relationship with about eight years ago when my fifth girl,
- 8:07Speaker 1: my fifth child but she's a daughter, was born and
- 8:10Speaker 1: my second wife reached out to him, and uh, it
- 8:14Speaker 1: happened to be not too soon after I had done
- 8:17Speaker 1: some interviews with Bruce Arians when he was with the
- 8:19Speaker 1: Pittsburgh Steelers, and so Bruce and I kind of reconnected,
- 8:24Speaker 1: and it's it reminded me to reach out to my
- 8:27Speaker 1: Mom's asked her about you know, Dad and Bruce known
- 8:31Speaker 1: each other for a long time and they were roommates
- 8:34Speaker 1: at Virginia Tech. In fact, the first black white athlete
- 8:37Speaker 1: athletic roommates at Virginia Tech in the in the late
- 8:41Speaker 1: sixties and the early seventies, and they were inseparable. They
- 8:44Speaker 1: called themselves Salt and Pepper. Uh. He Bruce was a quarterback,
- 8:47Speaker 1: My dad was a running back. They both had you know,
- 8:50Speaker 1: some records for some times down there. And uh, they've
- 8:53Speaker 1: been my babysitters. So they were our babysitters and we
- 8:56Speaker 1: were a baby. So I've known Bruce literally from the
- 8:58Speaker 1: time I was born until now. And so, um, when
- 9:02Speaker 1: I saw the news come down that he was retiring. Uh,
- 9:06Speaker 1: and it was late, you know, it wasn't like right
- 9:08Speaker 1: after the season. This was this is late. I texted
- 9:11Speaker 1: him and he called me back right away and I said,
- 9:14Speaker 1: well played, very well played. And he knew exactly what
- 9:18Speaker 1: I meant, right. He wanted to go out on his
- 9:21Speaker 1: own terms. Um, despite all the nonsense you heard about
- 9:24Speaker 1: his relationship with Tom Brady, that just wasn't the case. Uh.
- 9:27Speaker 1: He and Tom are are great. Uh. He wanted to
- 9:30Speaker 1: in some ways ensure that Todd Bowles was going to
- 9:34Speaker 1: be the next head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
- 9:37Speaker 1: And it worked out perfectly because Todd I think he
- 9:39Speaker 1: is the right man for the job. Byard Leftwich is
- 9:42Speaker 1: a is a really good and up and coming coordinator
- 9:45Speaker 1: and he got some looks, particularly with the Jacksonville Jaguars,
- 9:48Speaker 1: but he's still not quite ready, right, He's still a
- 9:51Speaker 1: little unseasoned. I think it's a perfect situation down there
- 9:55Speaker 1: in Tampa. And Bruce gets to sit on his his
- 9:59Speaker 1: brown liquids where his kangle as opposed to the Nike
- 10:02Speaker 1: sponsor of the NFL sponsored Nike capps, uh and chill
- 10:07Speaker 1: and be and be around as a paid executive of
- 10:11Speaker 1: a Bucket of the Years for as long as he
- 10:13Speaker 1: wants to. Um that dudes, living the life. Man. He
- 10:16Speaker 1: got a late start, won two Coaches of the Years
- 10:19Speaker 1: and won a Super Bowl. And I'm biased obviously because
- 10:22Speaker 1: I again literally have known him since the day I
- 10:24Speaker 1: was born. He's he turned himself into a Hall of
- 10:26Speaker 1: Fame coach in a very short amount of time being
- 10:29Speaker 1: a head coach. Um, he's the man. Loved that dude.
- 10:32Speaker 1: How do you think that happens? Why is it that
- 10:34Speaker 1: a guy like Bruce arians who everyone acknowledged was a
- 10:38Speaker 1: brilliant offensive coordinator and led so many teams to so
- 10:42Speaker 1: much success. And honestly, if not for that shot with
- 10:47Speaker 1: the Colts, when the head coach gets cancer and Bruce
- 10:51Speaker 1: chuck Begano gets cancer, Arians comes over and then he
- 10:54Speaker 1: gets a shot with the cardinals. Um, why does that happen?
- 10:59Speaker 1: And then there's because you know, if you shake Sean
- 11:01Speaker 1: mcveigh's hand, you're getting a job. But you know what,
- 11:04Speaker 1: I'll tell you for three years, Chad, you watch golf,
- 11:08Speaker 1: You watch you watch golf. You know you see these
- 11:10Speaker 1: guys on tour and they have these homogenized swing. That's
- 11:13Speaker 1: the same swing. Who is that, that's that's whoever? Who
- 11:17Speaker 1: is that? That's that's whoever. You can't tell anybody except
- 11:20Speaker 1: for Jim Furret by their swing, Bruce Arians. If you've
- 11:24Speaker 1: had any interactions with him at all, and I'm not
- 11:27Speaker 1: even talking about a personal interaction. I'm talking about just
- 11:30Speaker 1: watching him on television is not your average cup of tea. Right.
- 11:35Speaker 1: He is gonna tell you exactly what he thinks. He
- 11:37Speaker 1: does not give a you know what, and we'll tell
- 11:41Speaker 1: you how he feels. And let's be honest, that doesn't
- 11:44Speaker 1: fit into the mold of what an NFL head coach
- 11:48Speaker 1: is supposed to be like. And so he never got
- 11:51Speaker 1: a chance. He never even got the interviews when he
- 11:54Speaker 1: was crafting champions out of Peyton Manning out of Andrew
- 11:59Speaker 1: luck of caution Palmer or at least some sort of
- 12:01Speaker 1: not really NFL champions but champion level quarterbacks. He crafted
- 12:05Speaker 1: all of these these great quarterbacks, but he never got
- 12:09Speaker 1: a chance because he was so unconventional until he got
- 12:12Speaker 1: to chance in an unconventional way when Chuck Organo goes
- 12:16Speaker 1: down against with with the sickness with with his cancer
- 12:19Speaker 1: and Bruce's thrust into the head coaching role, and obviously
- 12:23Speaker 1: they had a fantastic year that year, and he wins
- 12:25Speaker 1: Coach of the Year as an interim head coach. That
- 12:28Speaker 1: just never happens. He then gets an opportunity to go
- 12:31Speaker 1: out there Arizona and he wins another coach year and
- 12:34Speaker 1: takes them all boasts to a championship out there, And
- 12:37Speaker 1: so you started to see how good of a of
- 12:40Speaker 1: a coach he was, which where everybody who knows the
- 12:43Speaker 1: game knew already um and once he was in Arizona,
- 12:47Speaker 1: he kind of just could write his own ticket, got
- 12:50Speaker 1: really close, almost had a chance to win a championship,
- 12:52Speaker 1: decided it was time to hang it up. After a
- 12:54Speaker 1: little bit of a health scare, not a not a
- 12:56Speaker 1: serious one, but a little bit health scare he hung
- 12:58Speaker 1: it up, went to the booth and CBS, but you know,
- 13:02Speaker 1: you can't custom the booth, and so it just kind
- 13:06Speaker 1: of was kind of out of his element and he
- 13:07Speaker 1: wanted to get back in the game, and the opportunity
- 13:10Speaker 1: in Tampa presented to presented itself, and he ran with it,
- 13:14Speaker 1: and we all know what happened after that gets Tom
- 13:16Speaker 1: Brady went just Super Bowl and it was just he
- 13:19Speaker 1: was the man if he comes back, Bruce, because I
- 13:23Speaker 1: do think, no, he's not coming back. He's done. Now. Yeah,
- 13:26Speaker 1: he's shocking because I do think he's such a good
- 13:28Speaker 1: coach and there was anything to that whole Brady drama.
- 13:31Speaker 1: But now I think I think age is catching up
- 13:34Speaker 1: to him. I think he's he's he's coast a really
- 13:38Speaker 1: long time. Like we forget it now. I mean he
- 13:40Speaker 1: started in the mid to late seventies. He actually got
- 13:43Speaker 1: fired at Virginia Tech. The whole staff got fired because
- 13:48Speaker 1: they had a kid that passed away after a extensive
- 13:51Speaker 1: night of drinking. I think this is a story. Uh,
- 13:54Speaker 1: they punished him by running him. He went back to
- 13:57Speaker 1: his room and he died, And so it was part
- 14:00Speaker 1: of his history. That's not like one of his favorites,
- 14:03Speaker 1: but it's part of his story. And he couldn't find
- 14:06Speaker 1: another job until he got hired. And when he went
- 14:09Speaker 1: down to Alabama, he worked on the Bear Bryant. They
- 14:11Speaker 1: got the job at Temple, had great success, made his
- 14:14Speaker 1: way back into the NFL, and before you know it,
- 14:17Speaker 1: he was you know, crafts and great quarterbacks and winning
- 14:20Speaker 1: championships as a coordinator play callers, so that it's it's
- 14:23Speaker 1: it's unique, right, He's one of the kind, he really is.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna listen because I loved his offensive style where
- 14:30Speaker 1: it was just couple little short passes here and there,
- 14:33Speaker 1: but it was all about the deep ball and getting
- 14:34Speaker 1: the ball downfield, so no risk and no biscuit. There's
- 14:41Speaker 1: Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning both had fifty two to
- 14:44Speaker 1: five percent completion percentages their first year because they made him.
- 14:48Speaker 1: He made him throw the ball on the field. Stats
- 14:50Speaker 1: don't matter, right, I know we think they do, but
- 14:53Speaker 1: they don't. Brady decided to come back, arians retires Todd
- 14:59Speaker 1: Bowles the head each of the Bucks. There is a
- 15:02Speaker 1: huge shift in power dynamics from the NFC to the
- 15:08Speaker 1: a f C. Even though the Rams just won the
- 15:11Speaker 1: Super Bowl. You look at the Chiefs, you look at
- 15:15Speaker 1: the Chargers, you look at the Raiders, you look at Broncos,
- 15:20Speaker 1: the Broncos right just in the a f C West,
- 15:23Speaker 1: And then you think and then you think about look
- 15:26Speaker 1: at the Bengals, look at the Ravens, look at the
- 15:29Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills, Like the the conference is loaded when you're
- 15:34Speaker 1: looking at that now as someone who was long time
- 15:37Speaker 1: had a radio show and they've been covering the NFL forever,
- 15:40Speaker 1: but also now as someone who through your radio show,
- 15:43Speaker 1: you guys talk about gambling like it's a big part
- 15:46Speaker 1: of what you do day to day. How do you
- 15:48Speaker 1: stack up the a f C. I see the a
- 15:51Speaker 1: f C as being cannibalistic. I mean they're gonna eat
- 15:55Speaker 1: each other by the time that This is why the
- 15:57Speaker 1: NFC probably has an edge. If you were umbling for
- 16:00Speaker 1: the eventual Super Bowl champion, it's gonna be a rough
- 16:04Speaker 1: grind once you get to the postseason, whether it's the
- 16:08Speaker 1: wild card or whether you're the number one seed in
- 16:11Speaker 1: the in the in the in the a f C,
- 16:13Speaker 1: you're gonna grind your way to a tow to the
- 16:16Speaker 1: Super Bowl, and it's not gonna be easy, Whereas the NFC,
- 16:20Speaker 1: it feels a little bit less treacherous. And there are
- 16:23Speaker 1: teams like the Rams. Just to stick on them for
- 16:25Speaker 1: a second, who had to spend all the money that
- 16:29Speaker 1: they're spending there. I mean the cliche is their mortgaging
- 16:32Speaker 1: their future, but you know what, they had to mortgage
- 16:34Speaker 1: their future because they were a team that spent so
- 16:37Speaker 1: many years in St. Louis coming back to l A where,
- 16:41Speaker 1: let's face it, there was apathy towards football in Los Angeles.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Nobody hairs is there's there's significant entertainment options. Right, my
- 16:49Speaker 1: disposable dollar can go anywhere. Is they're gonna go to
- 16:52Speaker 1: a football team that's gonna leave us in a couple
- 16:54Speaker 1: of years, like the Raiders did, and and and and
- 16:57Speaker 1: and like LA did before, like the Rams did before. No, well,
- 17:01Speaker 1: you know how you get them back. You win some championships,
- 17:04Speaker 1: and so you pay Aaron Donald thirty eight million dollars
- 17:08Speaker 1: or whatever the hell he's making. All right, you want
- 17:11Speaker 1: to play, you know, Jalen Ramsey, whatever you're playing, all right,
- 17:14Speaker 1: go ahead and do it right, It's it's worth it,
- 17:16Speaker 1: Cooper Cup, He's gonna give broke all these guys, right,
- 17:19Speaker 1: You do it because you need to win as many
- 17:22Speaker 1: championships as you can and this window as as possible.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Sean McVeigh was the perfect coach for it because he's
- 17:29Speaker 1: a genius. He's a football lifer, um he he. He
- 17:34Speaker 1: has the ability to create complexity, even if it's just
- 17:37Speaker 1: for complexity sake, uh, and make you think um and
- 17:41Speaker 1: outthink yourself as a defense, and that gives him the advantage.
- 17:44Speaker 1: So I love where the Rams are and other teams
- 17:48Speaker 1: just can't stomach that, right, They just they get so
- 17:52Speaker 1: fiscally responsible and and beholden to this salary cap that
- 17:56Speaker 1: they can't think about it. So the Rams still have
- 17:59Speaker 1: the edge in my mind, and the NFC from the
- 18:02Speaker 1: a f C. Really the most intriguing one to me
- 18:06Speaker 1: is the Denver Broncos because like I love Russell as
- 18:11Speaker 1: a as a player, I think he's corny as hell.
- 18:13Speaker 1: I think some of the things that he says, you're
- 18:15Speaker 1: just like, dude, you don't really believe that until you
- 18:18Speaker 1: until you actually talked to him, and then you're after
- 18:21Speaker 1: a while. I mean, I mean like we talked to
- 18:24Speaker 1: him for I did a game last year I talked
- 18:26Speaker 1: to We talked to him for like an hour and
- 18:27Speaker 1: after a while I'm like, this sucker actually believes what
- 18:30Speaker 1: you say it. He's not. He's not just cliche in it. Man.
- 18:36Speaker 1: It's just he actually believes the words that are coming
- 18:39Speaker 1: out of his mouth, Like I feel blessed and honored
- 18:43Speaker 1: and you know it could have been worse, and so
- 18:45Speaker 1: actually I need to own this moment right now. Like, man,
- 18:49Speaker 1: he's selling it. I was like, all right, cool, I
- 18:53Speaker 1: believe it. And that's why he's had success. If he
- 18:56Speaker 1: brings even just a little bit of that to a
- 18:58Speaker 1: very talent to Denver Broncos team that is one of
- 19:01Speaker 1: the most underrated receiving corps in football, Uh, they are
- 19:05Speaker 1: going to be a force b recut, not to mention
- 19:07Speaker 1: Javonte Williams, who I love coming out of the backfield,
- 19:10Speaker 1: and uh, you know, they have the talent to be
- 19:14Speaker 1: to be a contender next year. So they're the team
- 19:17Speaker 1: that might surprise all the others. But we'll see how
- 19:20Speaker 1: does that play in the locker room with someone when
- 19:23Speaker 1: someone like Russell Wilson, who is so outwardly sort of
- 19:29Speaker 1: you say corny. Uh, there's a lot of ways to
- 19:31Speaker 1: sort of framemak script you want to rehearsed, or it's
- 19:36Speaker 1: just you know, he so believes in the prophecy. And
- 19:39Speaker 1: I don't mean in a religious perspective. I mean just
- 19:41Speaker 1: like in the power of positive thinking. Right, that's right,
- 19:44Speaker 1: that's right. That he's bawling. Chat. If he's bawling and
- 19:49Speaker 1: he's and he's making you better, it doesn't matter what
- 19:53Speaker 1: he says. Man, Right. I give you an example for
- 19:55Speaker 1: my for my years, when Jesse Arms said, you remember
- 19:58Speaker 1: Jesse Arms said he was loved on defense back in
- 20:01Speaker 1: the day, and um, you know, straight hand was really
- 20:04Speaker 1: the catalyst as he's you know, he's got off the
- 20:06Speaker 1: quarterback and all those sacks that he had. But like
- 20:08Speaker 1: the the real emotional leader was Jesse Armstead. He'd get
- 20:12Speaker 1: up and he'd give these like speeches before the game,
- 20:16Speaker 1: and I swear to you, I couldn't understand the words
- 20:20Speaker 1: that were coming out of his mouth. I couldn't and
- 20:23Speaker 1: I knew what he was trying to say, but he
- 20:25Speaker 1: was doing it authentically and with this passion. And he
- 20:29Speaker 1: bawled every week. So we bought in. We're just like,
- 20:32Speaker 1: all right, whatever he said, let's go. Uh, it's it's
- 20:37Speaker 1: it's the other extreme, but it's the same thing. Right,
- 20:41Speaker 1: as long as you're a bawler, and and people know
- 20:45Speaker 1: that you're committed to it, then they're gonna follow you.
- 20:48Speaker 1: And people follow Russell Wilson. You know, Tyler Lockett was
- 20:52Speaker 1: a perfect example. We like Tyler is the he's he's
- 20:55Speaker 1: completely out, he's like reserved, he's very laid back. Tyler
- 20:59Speaker 1: Lockett came on, he was saying everything that Russell was saying,
- 21:02Speaker 1: like almost verbatim. It was it was like, it was,
- 21:05Speaker 1: it was, it was, it was mine. It was like
- 21:07Speaker 1: melded into his mind and and maybe he was just regurgitating,
- 21:11Speaker 1: but still he spoke it like he believed it. And
- 21:14Speaker 1: that's what happens when you have that's leadership. Man Like,
- 21:18Speaker 1: it's we always try to define it, really, how do
- 21:20Speaker 1: you become a great leader. It's like be authentic and
- 21:24Speaker 1: emotional and unbelievable, but most importantly consistent in what you do. Right,
- 21:30Speaker 1: That's what Russell does. And whether you think he's corny
- 21:33Speaker 1: or scripted or whatever, he's the leader and he's a
- 21:36Speaker 1: great leader. And it's proven year over year over year.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Simon and I have had many debates on this show
- 21:46Speaker 1: about Russell Wilson as a quarterback. I'm with you. I
- 21:51Speaker 1: think the guy is a superstar. I think it. I
- 21:55Speaker 1: think it elevates the Broncos. I think it immediately makes
- 21:58Speaker 1: them contenders. Simon, please give Tiki, former professional football player,
- 22:05Speaker 1: longtime member the media, studied more film than you and
- 22:09Speaker 1: I could ever possibly study. Please give Simon you, please
- 22:13Speaker 1: give Tik your take on Russell Wilson. I do agree
- 22:17Speaker 1: with you. I think he's really good quarterback. I just
- 22:18Speaker 1: think people always complaining, like how this guy never get
- 22:20Speaker 1: m VP all this other stuff. I just never think
- 22:23Speaker 1: he's been the best quarterback. And my argument against him
- 22:26Speaker 1: for Denver this year is he's gonna be a thirty
- 22:28Speaker 1: or four year old quarterback who's five ten, five eleven
- 22:31Speaker 1: playing against behind one of the worst offensive lines in football. Like,
- 22:34Speaker 1: I'm with you. They got a great offensive weapons, but
- 22:37Speaker 1: I'm just nervous about rust this year. So it is
- 22:39Speaker 1: interesting you picked them. I told Chad Denver is gonna
- 22:42Speaker 1: be the darling of the media this year. Like then,
- 22:44Speaker 1: people just like the new toy again, going from Drew
- 22:47Speaker 1: Lock to Russell Wilson. Let me I could talk all
- 22:50Speaker 1: that shitty once. I'll like Russell Wilson every day over Drew.
- 22:54Speaker 1: He can be corny as hell. Denver guys are probably
- 22:57Speaker 1: a static being, like, holy shit, this is what a
- 22:59Speaker 1: real court back is. So I do think Russ is good?
- 23:02Speaker 1: Do I think he's top five, top seven like he
- 23:04Speaker 1: used to be. I don't know, man, There's just so
- 23:06Speaker 1: many good young bloods out there, like really good talented guys.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Like again, people have Lamar Lamar Jackson outside their top seven.
- 23:13Speaker 1: They forget how great Lamar Jackson is. It's always about
- 23:16Speaker 1: what have you done for me lately? So Jack could
- 23:18Speaker 1: be right. I could be hating too much on Russ.
- 23:20Speaker 1: I just I'm a little worried about an older guy undersized. Historically,
- 23:25Speaker 1: we've only seen him and Drew Brees and uh Doug
- 23:28Speaker 1: Flutie be this size and play this later in the career.
- 23:31Speaker 1: None of those guys won championships after their thirty first birthday.
- 23:34Speaker 1: So it's just there's just a lot there for me
- 23:36Speaker 1: to think about. What I'm thinking about Russell, Well, it's
- 23:38Speaker 1: his offensive line in Denver worse than his offensive line
- 23:42Speaker 1: in Seattle. Statistically, it's like literally almost no difference the
- 23:46Speaker 1: weather that day, right exactly. But I'm with you, like
- 23:50Speaker 1: he's losing decane locket though you know what I mean.
- 23:52Speaker 1: It's like it's just gonna be interesting what Judy can
- 23:54Speaker 1: do because I'm with you, like I love Denver's young talent,
- 23:57Speaker 1: and I can't judge him because they had Drew Lock,
- 23:59Speaker 1: Like I can't judge this Courtland Sutton is there Tim
- 24:06Speaker 1: Patrick who is sneaky good? Um kJ Hammler, nobody talks
- 24:11Speaker 1: about I saw that kid play at Penn State. And
- 24:13Speaker 1: they had a solution for blessing at Penn State just
- 24:16Speaker 1: go deep and and and they even made Clifford look
- 24:19Speaker 1: good at Penn State. So I mean they got a
- 24:23Speaker 1: lot of talent. You're right, it's about protective Russ. But
- 24:25Speaker 1: if anybody can thrive without upfront protection, it's Russell Wilson. Um.
- 24:31Speaker 1: The question will be will he allow this offense to
- 24:35Speaker 1: be diverse, this is really your only question, or will
- 24:39Speaker 1: he demand that it's about him because that's what broke
- 24:42Speaker 1: down in Seattle the last year and a half or so.
- 24:46Speaker 1: It had to be about him, like he wants it
- 24:48Speaker 1: means something to him to win that m v P.
- 24:50Speaker 1: It really does really just to get votes and he
- 24:52Speaker 1: hasn't gotten any. Um, if he allows this offense to
- 24:56Speaker 1: just evolve into what it becomes as opposed to dictating it,
- 24:59Speaker 1: then I think they have a chance. Otherwise it might
- 25:02Speaker 1: get a little dicey. But do you think that how
- 25:05Speaker 1: much of that do you think at the end of
- 25:07Speaker 1: those that time in Seattle was just about him wanting
- 25:10Speaker 1: the personal accolades or him believing so much in himself
- 25:13Speaker 1: and not believing in the rest of the team with
- 25:16Speaker 1: the way the talent had degraded, that he needs to
- 25:19Speaker 1: have the ball and if it's not going to be
- 25:20Speaker 1: about him, he doesn't feel as comfortable with their shot
- 25:22Speaker 1: to win. Yeah. Well, it's interesting because maybe there were
- 25:28Speaker 1: three quarterbacks that I that were at my era and
- 25:30Speaker 1: later that I would trust dictating offensive game plans. Right.
- 25:37Speaker 1: One was was Peyton Manning, Um maybe Drew Brees maybe,
- 25:43Speaker 1: but probably not even Drew Brees because that he was
- 25:45Speaker 1: synonymous with Sean Payton, and I know the genius of
- 25:47Speaker 1: Sean Payton's mind being that he was my offensive coordinator
- 25:51Speaker 1: for a few years, and just historically you know how
- 25:53Speaker 1: that's been Um and and and potentially potentially Tom Brady.
- 25:58Speaker 1: But again, I also think that was very coordinator driven.
- 26:01Speaker 1: So so in truth, there's maybe one there's one quarterback
- 26:05Speaker 1: that I would trust can come in and say, all right,
- 26:07Speaker 1: this is what we gotta do, you know, because I've
- 26:09Speaker 1: done it and I can do it and I can
- 26:11Speaker 1: trust me. And it was it was Peyton right. He
- 26:14Speaker 1: brought basically his his offense from Indeed to denver Um.
- 26:18Speaker 1: He executed it kind of without a coordinator. We know,
- 26:22Speaker 1: we know it was and Adam Gates who kind of
- 26:24Speaker 1: didn't do ship. But basically he had an all pro
- 26:28Speaker 1: type season with a nonentity as as coordinator. Right, And
- 26:32Speaker 1: that's because he was that guy. Russ is not. I
- 26:35Speaker 1: don't think Russ is that guy. I think Russ it
- 26:38Speaker 1: needs the He needs to, he needs to defer a
- 26:41Speaker 1: little bit to the bigger picture, and he doesn't always
- 26:44Speaker 1: do that. This baseball season turned Kay's into cash and

- 28:30Speaker 1: or not that has an impact, right, and so you
- 28:32Speaker 1: can talk about the authenticity and whether it's Russell Wilson
- 28:36Speaker 1: or for you, guys, Jesse Armstead for the Giants when
- 28:38Speaker 1: you were playing there. It's the fourth quarter. You've been
- 28:43Speaker 1: getting the ship beat out of you all game. You
- 28:45Speaker 1: need to have a play on third and one, fourth
- 28:50Speaker 1: and one. You know the ball is coming to you.
- 28:53Speaker 1: You know the play is for you to plow yourself
- 28:56Speaker 1: into the offensive line. Is there anything from pregame to
- 29:02Speaker 1: halftime to in that huddle that can be said to
- 29:06Speaker 1: make you more successful. No, it's gotta happen. It's got
- 29:14Speaker 1: to happen by trust. So I'm only I'm gonna tell
- 29:18Speaker 1: you this little story, and it takes a little time,
- 29:20Speaker 1: But I just gave a presentation for the New York
- 29:26Speaker 1: Credit Union Association, and I had an audio visual that
- 29:30Speaker 1: I used and it was. You guys may remember the
- 29:34Speaker 1: ninety yard touchdown I had against the Oakland Raiders on
- 29:38Speaker 1: New Year's Eve two thousand and five. We were backed
- 29:41Speaker 1: all the way up because Luke Pettigow jumped outside and
- 29:44Speaker 1: we're on the five yard line, and in my mind,
- 29:48Speaker 1: I'm like, all right, we know what play we're gonna run.
- 29:52Speaker 1: They know what play we're going to run. It was
- 29:54Speaker 1: it's called thirty six power. So backside guard pulls to
- 29:58Speaker 1: the front side, lee eating fullback. Tight end is over there.
- 30:02Speaker 1: It's all going off tackle on to the right side
- 30:06Speaker 1: of our offense. Right. They knew the play like they
- 30:10Speaker 1: were cheating. They knew the play. They were calling it
- 30:12Speaker 1: out power, power, Power. They knew exactly where the pay
- 30:17Speaker 1: was coming. The ball snapped, I stick my foot in
- 30:20Speaker 1: the ground, I go up the middle of the whole
- 30:21Speaker 1: the middle of the field and make a safety miss.
- 30:25Speaker 1: I get to the sideline and score ninety yard touchdown.
- 30:28Speaker 1: And on first blush, You're like, damn, that was the
- 30:30Speaker 1: hell of a play that Tiki made, right, But the
- 30:32Speaker 1: reality is that we were all on the same page.
- 30:36Speaker 1: So they cheated their linebackers forgetting that the backside linebacker
- 30:41Speaker 1: was on the line of scrimmage right. So by cheating,
- 30:44Speaker 1: they created a hole. And so what happened? Luke pettigoot
- 30:48Speaker 1: my left tackle. He blocks two guys because once coming
- 30:51Speaker 1: off the edge and he blocks his guy, and the
- 30:52Speaker 1: other guy coming off the edge is sweeping way behind.
- 30:55Speaker 1: He has no chance. He's out of the play. Shaun
- 30:57Speaker 1: O'Hara left guard pulls. Shaun O'Hara mashes the d tackle,
- 31:01Speaker 1: so he creates his vast gaping hole because Chris Knee
- 31:06Speaker 1: blocks off his guy. All the flamentum is going to
- 31:09Speaker 1: the right side around the edge. Everybody's going out there.
- 31:12Speaker 1: But I see this massive hole in front of me.
- 31:14Speaker 1: So what do I do. I'm a smart running back.
- 31:17Speaker 1: I just run through the open hole. It's right there.
- 31:19Speaker 1: It's not where the play is supposed to Oh, but
- 31:21Speaker 1: screw it. I go right through the open hole. The
- 31:23Speaker 1: safety is coming down too fast. I make him miss
- 31:26Speaker 1: and I in the but the corners coming to ear
- 31:28Speaker 1: hold me. I can't make him miss. But what happens,
- 31:31Speaker 1: Plexico burst ear holds him, crushes him right, seals it.
- 31:37Speaker 1: So I have I get the EDDS. Plex goes to
- 31:39Speaker 1: stop this deva wide receiver. You know this guy who
- 31:41Speaker 1: scores the winning touchdown in the Super Bowl A couple
- 31:43Speaker 1: of years later. You know what he does. He turns
- 31:46Speaker 1: around and runs with me and blocks the guy in
- 31:49Speaker 1: front of me, and then you know who comes from
- 31:51Speaker 1: the other side. A Monti tumor tune comes. He's all
- 31:54Speaker 1: the way on the other side of the field. It
- 31:55Speaker 1: comes flying across the field and clips off the last
- 31:58Speaker 1: safety and they both escort me yards down the field
- 32:02Speaker 1: for a touchdown obedience. After the five yard paloty Barber
- 32:06Speaker 1: breaks to the second level and beyond Chicki Barber down
- 32:10Speaker 1: the sideline getting a blunk down field and another one
- 32:13Speaker 1: from the burst Bber take at the distance Giant touchdown. Wow.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Plexico Buris and Shawn O'Hara work all the way and
- 32:26Speaker 1: Barber takes since one of the longest touchdowns in Giant history. Mike,
- 32:31Speaker 1: we talked about a return guy, and look at the
- 32:33Speaker 1: patients that he has. Watch him set up these blocks.
- 32:37Speaker 1: He sets up Plexico Burrus right there to get the
- 32:39Speaker 1: last little push and then he finishes around out standing
- 32:43Speaker 1: patients on standing play calls, and so everybody says, I'll
- 32:46Speaker 1: that's a great play by Ti. You know where it
- 32:48Speaker 1: worked is because we all knew what we were doing.
- 32:50Speaker 1: We all knew how to take advantage of the situation.
- 32:53Speaker 1: And so it's not about it's not about like want
- 32:57Speaker 1: to it's not about like, oh yeah we worked harder
- 32:59Speaker 1: than him. Yeah, maybe that works sometimes when you gotta
- 33:01Speaker 1: get three or two yards in a cloud of dust.
- 33:04Speaker 1: But when you want to make big plays happen, it's
- 33:06Speaker 1: it's being above it, like it's being like your mind
- 33:10Speaker 1: has to be above like the physicality of it, and
- 33:13Speaker 1: you have to be able to think it in real time.
- 33:16Speaker 1: And all of our guys did it, including me, and
- 33:19Speaker 1: we had this huge play that was the first score
- 33:21Speaker 1: of the fourth store of that game. It was a
- 33:23Speaker 1: big win for us. It got us in the postseason.
- 33:25Speaker 1: And you know, it's not about like what you think
- 33:29Speaker 1: it is, go bang your head on the wall. It's
- 33:31Speaker 1: about being smarter than the other team, and we were
- 33:35Speaker 1: that play the way you describe it, though, it does
- 33:39Speaker 1: make me want to grab the ball on the five
- 33:40Speaker 1: drive line and run. But you know what running backs do?
- 33:43Speaker 1: You know what they do when you get backed up?
- 33:45Speaker 1: Everybody thinks Tony dor said, well, I guess now, Derrick
- 33:48Speaker 1: Henry yards Man I can't break it. You can I
- 33:51Speaker 1: tie the record, right, That's what every time I was
- 33:54Speaker 1: backed up, I was like, just I just want to
- 33:56Speaker 1: go ninety plus let me go. It must have been
- 34:01Speaker 1: This must have been what it was like in that
- 34:03Speaker 1: moment in Real Housewives of New Jersey at the end
- 34:05Speaker 1: of the game when you snared that line drive. You're
- 34:10Speaker 1: not you know, it's funny, Chad, you're joking about this play,
- 34:14Speaker 1: I'm not. I knew it was coming to me. I
- 34:16Speaker 1: just knew it was. So I spent most of the
- 34:19Speaker 1: game playing like short second or a short center, like
- 34:24Speaker 1: right behind second, so you could make all the infield
- 34:27Speaker 1: plays if you had to drift into the outfield, I could.
- 34:29Speaker 1: I could make some of those plays. But by the
- 34:31Speaker 1: end of the game, like people are like lazy, they
- 34:35Speaker 1: don't really care. I'm like, dude, is anybody playing third base?
- 34:38Speaker 1: Like where is everybody had guys littered around the outfield
- 34:42Speaker 1: and just shoot the ship. They don't care. I'm like, dude,
- 34:45Speaker 1: this is this the last hitting Let's let's somebody playing
- 34:47Speaker 1: out here. So I ended up playing shortstop because it
- 34:50Speaker 1: was a right handed hitter who and it's slow pit softball,
- 34:53Speaker 1: so you know, he's getting around on the ball and
- 34:55Speaker 1: you know it's coming this way, and it's and it's
- 34:57Speaker 1: one of those one of those guys you can tell
- 35:00Speaker 1: has swung a bat a little bit, so I know
- 35:02Speaker 1: he's going to pull it, so I'm cheating just a
- 35:05Speaker 1: little bit. And then he rips it and it's it's
- 35:07Speaker 1: a little bit behind me. But I was like, I
- 35:09Speaker 1: know I can get this thing, so I just I
- 35:12Speaker 1: just take off and just lay out for it, like
- 35:14Speaker 1: legit layout. But it wasn't like a fake layout. You
- 35:17Speaker 1: know sometimes these guys a fake layout, like oh I
- 35:19Speaker 1: had to dive to get that one, but they really
- 35:21Speaker 1: just like dove and shorten their arm link Like I
- 35:25Speaker 1: really had to layout to get this one. And it
- 35:27Speaker 1: came down of my head and everybody jumped on me.
- 35:29Speaker 1: It was awesome, and but I kind of could see it.
- 35:31Speaker 1: I could like predict it. I was so upset in
- 35:35Speaker 1: that episode that you didn't play the whole game because
- 35:37Speaker 1: one of my favorite things. And I've got a theory
- 35:40Speaker 1: that's going back for years because when I started at
- 35:43Speaker 1: ESPN the magazine and uh late nineties, there was a
- 35:48Speaker 1: guy he might remember him, Um, I don't you guys
- 35:51Speaker 1: wouldn't have played against each other. But his name is
- 35:53Speaker 1: Alan Grant, and he played at Stanford. He was a
- 35:56Speaker 1: kick returner and safety at Stanford, and then he played
- 35:59Speaker 1: in in the NFL for like five years. He played
- 36:01Speaker 1: for Washington. I think he played for Cincinnati. So he
- 36:04Speaker 1: ended up working at the magazine for a little while.
- 36:07Speaker 1: And Um, every Wednesday, we'd shut down the magazine in
- 36:11Speaker 1: the middle of the day and we rent out court
- 36:13Speaker 1: to Basketball City over at Chelsea Pierce in Manhattan. And
- 36:16Speaker 1: there were a lot of people that played sports working
- 36:19Speaker 1: at the magazine. Allen was there, uh for a little while.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Neil Reid, who you know played it Indiana, the player
- 36:26Speaker 1: who got choked by Bobby Knight. Um, there were guys
- 36:29Speaker 1: who played college basketball D one, college basketball, D two,
- 36:32Speaker 1: D three, and then there were guys like he played
- 36:34Speaker 1: high school and just the difference between guys who played
- 36:37Speaker 1: high school basketball and D three was like extraordinary, right,
- 36:42Speaker 1: and then the guys from D three to Alan Grant,
- 36:45Speaker 1: who sometimes he didn't even want to play because he
- 36:49Speaker 1: was so much better than anyone else at his sport
- 36:51Speaker 1: that wasn't even his sport. It's always fun for me
- 36:54Speaker 1: to see guys who are really superior athletes, like you
- 36:58Speaker 1: play in a game with sort of weird mortals because
- 37:02Speaker 1: you and like everyone is just so astonished because the
- 37:05Speaker 1: way you move is just gonna be so much better
- 37:08Speaker 1: than everybody else. It is fun because I love I
- 37:13Speaker 1: love athleticism, right, I just and it's it's it's what
- 37:16Speaker 1: I get enamored with when I watched sports. It's it's
- 37:19Speaker 1: just great athletes. Even if I'm not a fan of
- 37:21Speaker 1: that team. If I if I see athleticism, I embrace it.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Like for instance, Darling Marte for the Mets, he just
- 37:29Speaker 1: looks the part in the uniform like he's got these
- 37:32Speaker 1: massive like try like del toy. It's and like his
- 37:35Speaker 1: shoulders just like his back shoulders back, and he just
- 37:39Speaker 1: he looks fit and lean. And they just move different
- 37:41Speaker 1: though it's like the Mike Vick thing. They just the
- 37:43Speaker 1: way they move, it's just different. You've never seen anyone
- 37:46Speaker 1: move the way they move for some reason time and
- 37:47Speaker 1: it's exactly right. Like you can see as soon as
- 37:50Speaker 1: someone takes off or does something athletic, You're like, wow,
- 37:54Speaker 1: that's that's that's a cut of buff right there, Like
- 37:56Speaker 1: God blessed in with an extra gene. That's most people
- 37:59Speaker 1: didn't get until I love athleticism. And it's funny when
- 38:03Speaker 1: I when I get in a competitive situation, my athleticism
- 38:07Speaker 1: just takes over you. I don't know what the hell
- 38:08Speaker 1: I'm doing. Well, it must be nice to have that,
- 38:13Speaker 1: you know something the rest of us don't. Before we
- 38:16Speaker 1: let you go for yourself chat, I want to stay
- 38:18Speaker 1: titles for lacrosse. It is, that's true. There it is,
- 38:23Speaker 1: by the way, by the way, I should say. Then,
- 38:26Speaker 1: every time I go for a checkup, the doctor or
- 38:30Speaker 1: nurse whoever is doing sort of checking the vitals, will
- 38:33Speaker 1: check my pulse uh, and my pulse rate is usually
- 38:37Speaker 1: in like high forties, low fifties. Sometimes I'm not, But
- 38:42Speaker 1: I mean I do a lot of the peloton, I
- 38:44Speaker 1: do a lot of rowing. I take good care of myself,
- 38:46Speaker 1: in very good shape. Do say so myself. And every
- 38:49Speaker 1: single time, every single time, they will say to me,
- 38:51Speaker 1: are you an athlete? And I will look at them
- 38:54Speaker 1: and I go, yes, yes, I'm an athlete. Of course,
- 38:59Speaker 1: when I turned forty, I had to stopped playing anything
- 39:01Speaker 1: that required physical pounding because I kept breaking things. So
- 39:04Speaker 1: you know, there you go, like I couldn't play softball
- 39:07Speaker 1: because I would pull a hamstring in two seconds. Um.
- 39:10Speaker 1: I mentioned at the top of the show that we
- 39:12Speaker 1: are in partnership because of your relationship with Knights of Jigen.
- 39:17Speaker 1: We have a partnership with Knights of Djen. I think
- 39:19Speaker 1: it's a really cool project. It's a cool n f
- 39:22Speaker 1: T that is focused on people who want to be
- 39:24Speaker 1: in the gambling community, people like Jack Settlement, who is
- 39:27Speaker 1: a great influencer now who started his career at Action Network.
- 39:29Speaker 1: Cynthia Freeland. Explain sort of what you're doing with those
- 39:32Speaker 1: folks and and why people want to get involved. Yeah,
- 39:35Speaker 1: I'm an advisor and I became one because the CEO
- 39:38Speaker 1: and co founder of my company, Enthusio, which was acquired
- 39:42Speaker 1: by Trailer a few months ago, decided to start this
- 39:45Speaker 1: with this this engage group of young entrepreneurs in the
- 39:48Speaker 1: Web three space. And you know, I'm a computer gig.
- 39:51Speaker 1: I was in MS major u v A, and so
- 39:53Speaker 1: the the emerging Web three environment, the n f T
- 39:56Speaker 1: s in the crypto world that I started to take
- 39:58Speaker 1: over our country. Even though right now it's kind of
- 40:00Speaker 1: a little trepidationous, it's still exciting because the opportunities are
- 40:05Speaker 1: there and I think mirroring sports and those that like
- 40:09Speaker 1: to play a wager here and there is something is
- 40:11Speaker 1: where the world is going. We're seeing it with the
- 40:13Speaker 1: explosion of sports betting companies around the country, the advertising
- 40:17Speaker 1: that we see on on my network and other sports
- 40:21Speaker 1: networks out there, it's it's tied together. And so I
- 40:23Speaker 1: think Nights of a Dijon and and the Action Network
- 40:27Speaker 1: is a perfect combination because the n f T world
- 40:30Speaker 1: knows us, but those in the sports wagering world, they
- 40:34Speaker 1: don't know this, and they don't understand how engaging having
- 40:38Speaker 1: a night or being a nightholder is in that world
- 40:41Speaker 1: because there's so many poker nights. We We even own
- 40:44Speaker 1: a fan controlled football team which we had our first season.
- 40:47Speaker 1: It's the second season a fan control football we had
- 40:49Speaker 1: our first season. This year just missed out on the playoffs,
- 40:52Speaker 1: like like literally a game missed out on the playoffs,
- 40:55Speaker 1: a play I missed out on the playoffs. UM we
- 40:58Speaker 1: own a soccer team with We're all gonna make it
- 41:01Speaker 1: another UM n f T project over in England, and
- 41:05Speaker 1: we do a lot of fun engaging things through our
- 41:08Speaker 1: Discord channels, through our our our fantasy football games and
- 41:13Speaker 1: events that we have a lot of in real life
- 41:16Speaker 1: events as well. I r L events, and so we
- 41:18Speaker 1: enjoy it. We have a lot of discussion, there's a
- 41:20Speaker 1: lot of big planning that goes on, and I think
- 41:23Speaker 1: we we add a value, a utility outside of just owning,
- 41:27Speaker 1: uh the n f T, the the night n f T,
- 41:30Speaker 1: which is very cool. So we're we're excited, um and
- 41:33Speaker 1: thrilled to be partnering with with Action right now because
- 41:36Speaker 1: it's gonna expand our our our reach and and in
- 41:40Speaker 1: some ways give us a little bit more legitimacy in
- 41:42Speaker 1: the gambling space, which is what we're all about. Listen,
- 41:46Speaker 1: if you need action for legitimacy and the gambling space,
- 41:49Speaker 1: w but I do like, look, everyone who's who's who
- 41:53Speaker 1: owns a night n f T is getting an Action
- 41:56Speaker 1: Pro subscription. You mentioned some I are all events and
- 42:00Speaker 1: in real life events. I think those are fantastic. And
- 42:04Speaker 1: the people that you're in business with. I love Jack Settlement,
- 42:06Speaker 1: He's been on the podcast. He's a great friend of ours.
- 42:10Speaker 1: We're super enthusiastic about what's happening with Nights of d GEN.
- 42:13Speaker 1: It's cool. I know there's a lot of conversations around
- 42:16Speaker 1: n f T s right now, they're not going anywhere. Uh.
- 42:20Speaker 1: You sort of have to define what is valuable to
- 42:22Speaker 1: you and decide which community you want to be a
- 42:24Speaker 1: part of. And for us, this is one that we
- 42:26Speaker 1: decided we wanted to to get deeply involved with. Well,
- 42:30Speaker 1: we appreciate you, and I would tell people it's not
- 42:32Speaker 1: just art. It's about the utility. That's the most important
- 42:35Speaker 1: thing that gets lost in some of these n FT projects,
- 42:38Speaker 1: some of what's failed, But it's because it's just about art.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Ours is not just about the art. It's about the
- 42:43Speaker 1: community that we're building. And we're glad that actions are
- 42:46Speaker 1: part of our community and we're part of yours now. Tiki,
- 42:49Speaker 1: thanks for coming back on the podcast. Uh, such fantastic stories.
- 42:55Speaker 1: I am gonna go give everyone on our team a
- 42:57Speaker 1: huge pep talk right now, Anicity, and then I'm going
- 43:01Speaker 1: to back it up on my keyboard later today. I
- 43:04Speaker 1: love it. I love It's gonna be the Russell Wilson
- 43:06Speaker 1: of Action Network Today. Jicky Barber, Ticky and Tyranny w
- 43:10Speaker 1: f a n thanks for coming on the podcast for
