- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on, huh, I sure will. Good morning everybody. You're
- 0:07Speaker 1: listening to the voice, come on, dig me now for it.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Only Steve Harley got a radio show man instead of
- 0:15Speaker 1: trying to be about the business. To y'all, I'm doing
- 0:19Speaker 1: all I can. But you know what's crazy in the
- 0:23Speaker 1: efforts that I make, I can do more. When my
- 0:28Speaker 1: father used to tell me something when I was growing up,
- 0:31Speaker 1: he says, son, when you've done your best, and you've
- 0:37Speaker 1: done all you can, sit still for a second and
- 0:42Speaker 1: just do a little bit more. Always remember that, he said,
- 0:46Speaker 1: when you've done the best you can and you can
- 0:49Speaker 1: done all you can think of, he say, sit still
- 0:52Speaker 1: for a minute and do some more. And you know
- 0:55Speaker 1: what I've discovered in my life, always have a little more.
- 0:58Speaker 1: I ain't ever just out out completely. I can't take
- 1:02Speaker 1: another step. There ain't another breath in me. The ain't
- 1:06Speaker 1: another thought I can produce. I'm never completely out, man.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Just take a rest for a minute, man, and then
- 1:14Speaker 1: just do a little bit more. And I can't tell
- 1:18Speaker 1: you how many times that's helped me get over the top.
- 1:23Speaker 1: You know, I was watching a documentary about people climbing
- 1:26Speaker 1: Mount Everest and how difficult climbing Mount Everest was and
- 1:30Speaker 1: how they have on the hill something called like a
- 1:34Speaker 1: death zone or a killing zone where the majority of
- 1:37Speaker 1: people run out of oxygen and they have to turn back. Well,
- 1:41Speaker 1: what's crazy is it's right in view of the summit.
- 1:46Speaker 1: You can actually see the top of Mount Everest from there.
- 1:51Speaker 1: But it's that little bit that's left that's just most difficult.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Now I forgot all the reasons why they said most
- 1:58Speaker 1: people don't make it from there. More people have lost
- 2:01Speaker 1: their lives in that area. I don't know what it is.
- 2:04Speaker 1: But the people that make it to the top of
- 2:07Speaker 1: Mount Efforts, they all had to go through that same
- 2:11Speaker 1: zone of that same area, but they had a little
- 2:16Speaker 1: bit more that allowed them to get to the top.
- 2:19Speaker 1: You know, a lot of people have had accidents up
- 2:22Speaker 1: there trying that. So I'm not even really sure if
- 2:24Speaker 1: Mount Everest analogy is a good one. But let's just
- 2:28Speaker 1: break it down a little bit more. Let's just talk
- 2:30Speaker 1: about life. There's a poem I learned back when the
- 2:36Speaker 1: host pledging. It's called don't Quit. It goes like this,
- 2:39Speaker 1: if I make a mistake just trying to drum it up,
- 2:42Speaker 1: so here we go. It says when things go wrong,
- 2:45Speaker 1: as they sometimes will, when the roads you're trudging seems
- 2:48Speaker 1: all uphill, when your funds are low and your debts
- 2:53Speaker 1: are high, when you want to smile, but you have
- 2:56Speaker 1: to sigh when cares are pressing you down. A bit,
- 3:01Speaker 1: rest if you must, but don't quit. For life is
- 3:05Speaker 1: queer with his twisting turns, as every one of us
- 3:08Speaker 1: must sometimes learn. And many a fellow has turned about
- 3:13Speaker 1: when he might have won had he stuck it out.
- 3:17Speaker 1: So don't give up. Though the pace seems slow. You
- 3:20Speaker 1: may succeed with another blow. Often the gold is nearer
- 3:26Speaker 1: than it seems to a faint and a faltering man.
- 3:31Speaker 1: And often the struggler has given up when he might
- 3:34Speaker 1: have captured the victor's cup, and he learns too late,
- 3:38Speaker 1: when the night came down how close he was to
- 3:42Speaker 1: the golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out. It's
- 3:48Speaker 1: your silver tin of your clouds of doubt, and you
- 3:52Speaker 1: never can tell how close you are. It may be
- 3:56Speaker 1: nil when it seems afar. So stick to the fight
- 4:01Speaker 1: when your hardest hits, when things seem worse that you
- 4:06Speaker 1: mustn't quit. I remember it because I had a special
- 4:10Speaker 1: method of helping you remember stuff back then, but I
- 4:13Speaker 1: remembered it, and that point right there has kept me.
- 4:17Speaker 1: You know, we often talk about scripture and everything, and
- 4:20Speaker 1: then I don't see how I could live without it.
- 4:23Speaker 1: But every now and then, man, somebody has a writing.
- 4:26Speaker 1: God puts a writing on somebody's heart that delivers a message, man,
- 4:29Speaker 1: that can help people. I use every motivational tool that
- 4:32Speaker 1: I possibly can to climb this letter of success or
- 4:36Speaker 1: try to be the best father and the best husband
- 4:38Speaker 1: I can be. I've done a lot of changing over
- 4:40Speaker 1: the years, and so have you. But change is necessary
- 4:44Speaker 1: in order to grow. If you don't make changes, folks,
- 4:47Speaker 1: you can't grow. I was a young man on my set.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I kept looking at him, and a sharp little young
- 4:53Speaker 1: dude just on my set, and he had these dreads
- 4:58Speaker 1: and I mean they would They was super long, man,
- 5:02Speaker 1: They were well below the middle of his back. I mean,
- 5:05Speaker 1: it was just long. And he kept talking to me,
- 5:07Speaker 1: and he kept talking to me and talking to me.
- 5:10Speaker 1: So young man kept talking to me, and I said, hey, man,
- 5:12Speaker 1: you know, you do your a huge self of favor
- 5:15Speaker 1: in the business you're in. If you got a haircut,
- 5:18Speaker 1: you would do yourself a huge favor. I said, your
- 5:20Speaker 1: image is everything. Man, I said, you keep stopping me
- 5:22Speaker 1: in the hallway to try to tell me what you're doing,
- 5:24Speaker 1: what you are, but all I see is your hair. Now,
- 5:28Speaker 1: I keep trying to figure out what you're doing with
- 5:29Speaker 1: all that hair. Man, Now you can feel how you
- 5:32Speaker 1: want to feel. But I'm like an employer. I employed people.
- 5:37Speaker 1: So when I'm walking through the hallway and I try
- 5:39Speaker 1: to think of you traveling with me and you sitting
- 5:42Speaker 1: in a meeting with me, I try to imagine you
- 5:44Speaker 1: and your suit sitting there talking business with me, and so,
- 5:48Speaker 1: just like other employers are, I'm just having a real
- 5:50Speaker 1: story with you. So I said, man, you ought to
- 5:53Speaker 1: consider cutting your hair, he said. Man, mister Hobb, I've
- 5:57Speaker 1: been growing his hair. Sound as a little boy, I said,
- 6:00Speaker 1: you now he said twenty eight. I said, well, how
- 6:03Speaker 1: long you want to hang on to what you was
- 6:04Speaker 1: when you was a little boy? You know, if you
- 6:07Speaker 1: started growing your hair when you're a teenager? I mean
- 6:09Speaker 1: you twenty eight now. And I said, so, let me
- 6:12Speaker 1: help you understand something. Let me let me ask you something.
- 6:15Speaker 1: What does it do for you? He said, Man, it's
- 6:18Speaker 1: just who I am. It's I said, So you your have
- 6:23Speaker 1: he said no, no, But it's a part of me.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I said, that part of you that you're hanging on to,
- 6:28Speaker 1: What does it do for you? I just like it, Well, dog,
- 6:34Speaker 1: I like ice cream, but I feed that. But if
- 6:36Speaker 1: I hang on the ice cream and eat ice cream
- 6:38Speaker 1: every single day, my body gonna reflect that. What is
- 6:42Speaker 1: it that you hanging on to that you don't want
- 6:45Speaker 1: to let go of? That's prohibiting you from being what
- 6:47Speaker 1: all you can be? See, it's hard to be what
- 6:50Speaker 1: all you can be if you want to keep being
- 6:52Speaker 1: all you was? Don't that make sense to you? So
- 6:57Speaker 1: I can't tell you how many times I've had to change.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Change is necessary to grow. You can't be all you
- 7:06Speaker 1: can be if you want to keep hanging on to
- 7:09Speaker 1: all you was. That don't make no sense. How do
- 7:13Speaker 1: you go forward? If you keep going backwards? You can't
- 7:18Speaker 1: stay here and go there? Do you understand that if
- 7:22Speaker 1: you want to go over there, you must remove yourself
- 7:26Speaker 1: from right here? Oh? I got right here is comfortable,
- 7:30Speaker 1: I got right here is safe. But over there is
- 7:34Speaker 1: where the shade is. Over There's where the fruit is.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Over there is where the opportunity is. Over there is
- 7:42Speaker 1: where the mountain of goal is so, Why you stuck
- 7:46Speaker 1: on here? You got to leave here to go over there.
- 7:50Speaker 1: You can't be all you can be if you want
- 7:53Speaker 1: to stay stuck on who you was. Change is growth
- 7:56Speaker 1: is necessary all. Let's go here, listening into the steed
- 7:59Speaker 1: how every morning show
