- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The rex was
- 0:06Speaker 2: not chasing the jeep.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Murray, Murray, you there. You love sandwiches. Huh, let's go
- 0:11Speaker 1: to eighty. It was bo Wow that Prime time baby.
- 0:17Speaker 1: I had a crush on Betty Rubbell.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I honestly, until after the segment ended and we went
- 0:22Speaker 2: to commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan Coachman was black.
- 0:25Speaker 2: He caught them the game last night, although they won
- 0:28Speaker 2: the game. You're listening to Stuccattson Company. Our friend Jake
- 0:33Speaker 2: Storyale joined us from John Boy Media.
- 0:35Speaker 1: His podcast talking baseball and talking Yanks. They're killing it.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Check it out wherever you get your podcast. Taylor still
- 0:42Speaker 2: mad at Brian Cashman. We'll get to that in the second.
- 0:44Speaker 2: But all I heard as I was getting ready to
- 0:48Speaker 2: do this interview with you, Jake, was you and Mikey
- 0:50Speaker 2: talking about a classic shell game.
- 0:52Speaker 1: What the hell were you two talking about?
- 0:55Speaker 3: Uh?
- 0:56Speaker 4: It was don't I guess Wizard of Oz. Don't look
- 0:59Speaker 4: at the man behind the curtain a little bit? It was, Hey,
- 1:02Speaker 4: we got it, we got our starting short stop. They
- 1:06Speaker 4: and honestly, thank god because we interviewed Boone this morning
- 1:11Speaker 4: and if they didn't do that, it would have been
- 1:13Speaker 4: a pretty rough episode. And then it was kind of like,
- 1:16Speaker 4: all right, let's do it. So in a way I
- 1:18Speaker 4: got shell gamed.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Yes, in a way you did. Yes, you seem to
- 1:23Speaker 2: be upset about it, though, Jake, I mean it happened, no.
- 1:25Speaker 4: The realization. Yeah, yeah. Man, it's as as you get
- 1:30Speaker 4: from from these two too often. And I'm sorry they're
- 1:33Speaker 4: they're beating Yankees culture into you. Yeah. Man, it just
- 1:38Speaker 4: a perfectly beautiful emotional twenty twenty six Yankees day of
- 1:42Speaker 4: the trade deadline. We're gonna get these many pitchers. We
- 1:45Speaker 4: might get a catcher, we might get a third baseman,
- 1:47Speaker 4: we might get a short step we did not, and
- 1:50Speaker 4: then we have one of our best comebacks of the
- 1:53Speaker 4: season with our guy, Joe's mcflys, who's just one of
- 1:56Speaker 4: the best to do whatever the hell he does. He said,
- 1:59Speaker 4: the Yankees lost twice yesterday. They lost by six runs twice.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, and that's just hard to do, right, Yes,
- 2:05Speaker 2: it's hard to do. Yes, thank you for acknowledging, by
- 2:10Speaker 2: the way, what mikey A and Taylor have done to
- 2:12Speaker 2: me with the Yankee stuff.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I mean, I appreciate it. No one else does that.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 2:16Speaker 5: No, let's talk Mets, Stu Gotts, Let's talk away Mets.
- 2:20Speaker 3: What.
- 2:20Speaker 1: I don't want to talk about the Mets.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I'd like to talk about football eventually, and not the Yankees.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Yes, thank you very much, go ahead, Taylor two weeks.
- 2:27Speaker 6: Yes, so, what we were talking about initially was the
- 2:30Speaker 6: Yankees calling up their top prospect, George Lombard, who's their
- 2:34Speaker 6: shortstop of the future hopefully. But Yankee fans today we
- 2:37Speaker 6: can't even get excited about George Lombard because I am
- 2:41Speaker 6: so offended by Brian Cashman. This deadline.
- 2:44Speaker 1: When when a.
- 2:45Speaker 6: Kid is crying, ste Gotts, Yes, how do you get
- 2:47Speaker 6: them to stop crying?
- 2:49Speaker 1: I don't know. For me, I drove my kid around
- 2:51Speaker 1: the neighborhood in the back of the car.
- 2:52Speaker 6: That's one way you could do it. Or you could
- 2:54Speaker 6: put a shiny toy in front of them to distract them.
- 2:57Speaker 6: And the Yankees calling up their top prospect, Jake with
- 3:00Speaker 6: Brian Cashman distracting us from the fact that he had
- 3:03Speaker 6: another underwhelming deadline in the American League that feelds as wide.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Open as ever.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I so I try to find I try to
- 3:13Speaker 4: be a logical sports fan, even though it's it's not
- 3:16Speaker 4: what we're built on. But that's that's where I try
- 3:19Speaker 4: to land the plane. If someone's tuning into talking Yanks, hey,
- 3:22Speaker 4: we're gonna have moments where you're gonna absolutely hate us
- 3:25Speaker 4: and some of the Yankee stuff I'm gonna references either
- 3:27Speaker 4: from the olden years and it's crazy Yankee mentality, or
- 3:31Speaker 4: I'm gonna be mad about something Carlos rode On coming back,
- 3:34Speaker 4: where other teams if they traded for Carlos rodd On
- 3:37Speaker 4: coming back, they would be excited about that. But that's
- 3:40Speaker 4: not how we operate that. With this Yankees deadline, my
- 3:43Speaker 4: point of logic would be zero shortstops got traded. Shortstops
- 3:48Speaker 4: don't really exist. Zero. The only third baseman that got
- 3:51Speaker 4: moved was Curtis Mead and that was for young Connelly early,
- 3:54Speaker 4: so that was a totally different type of deal that Okay,
- 3:58Speaker 4: that wasn't there. There's literally no supply, which if you
- 4:01Speaker 4: want to get Matt at Cashman about not having the
- 4:03Speaker 4: proper supply for the past five to ten years, I
- 4:06Speaker 4: can't really argue against that. But at this deadline I
- 4:09Speaker 4: had no expectations there two catchers got traded and you
- 4:12Speaker 4: can't really defend our catchers. And then a bunch of
- 4:15Speaker 4: pitchers got traded, which is just like you know, sometimes
- 4:19Speaker 4: as we get new analytics and new everything in the sport,
- 4:22Speaker 4: it's just as old as time. You literally can't have
- 4:24Speaker 4: enough arms. The Dodgers trade for schoobl and Bubich, who
- 4:28Speaker 4: go look at Boobach's last three seasons. That guy's era
- 4:32Speaker 4: is in the two So like the fact they didn't
- 4:35Speaker 4: get pitching or catching help is shocking. And then if
- 4:39Speaker 4: you really want to go Yankee Siko stuff, it's the
- 4:42Speaker 4: fact that they waited to call up George Lombard to
- 4:45Speaker 4: the trade deadline because I'm guessing they tried to trade
- 4:49Speaker 4: Volpi and they trade to try Dominga's but either they
- 4:52Speaker 4: value them too much, correct or other teams don't value
- 4:56Speaker 4: them also correct.
- 4:57Speaker 6: Jake, I love how you came in with some measure
- 5:00Speaker 6: of a level headedness. I would say, yes, yes.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I don't like it, by the way, but anyway, see
- 5:07Speaker 1: he mentioned.
- 5:08Speaker 6: He mentioned one of his co workers, Joe's McFly, and
- 5:12Speaker 6: this was Joe's McFly. After the deadline wraps up at
- 5:16Speaker 6: six pm and he starts to realize the Yankees don't
- 5:19Speaker 6: have any more moves to be made.
- 5:21Speaker 7: What do we have any news? Anybody last minute trades?
- 5:26Speaker 7: It's done, the timer is done. Joe Sherman will sow
- 5:29Speaker 7: the Yankees me no other trade. Oh my god, the
- 5:32Speaker 7: serious This is the most unserious team ever.
- 5:42Speaker 8: Unreal last deadline trash they did awful.
- 5:49Speaker 4: It was pathetic what.
- 5:51Speaker 8: They did this deadline pathetic. The Rays got better, the
- 5:56Speaker 8: Reds that's got better.
- 5:57Speaker 1: You marginally improved. This's me. There's no way you prospic
- 6:03Speaker 1: hunks and death. Bro what a piece of deadline man.
- 6:07Speaker 1: We didn't get a single bullpen arm.
- 6:09Speaker 7: I don't even know how how the pen's gonna get
- 6:11Speaker 7: through August.
- 6:12Speaker 8: We didn't get a catcher.
- 6:14Speaker 1: What did we do? We got nothing.
- 6:15Speaker 4: We did nothing.
- 6:18Speaker 2: That's how you do it, Jake. I mean, I gotta
- 6:19Speaker 2: be honest, get me fly on the show, by the way.
- 6:21Speaker 2: I mean, let's go.
- 6:22Speaker 4: I no, I think I just WELLY picked myself that
- 6:25Speaker 4: that was my bad. But there's a reason he's the
- 6:29Speaker 4: best at what he does. Again, I have those thoughts,
- 6:33Speaker 4: we let them out in live time and then I
- 6:35Speaker 4: try to be logical. But yeah, it's also I'll tell
- 6:38Speaker 4: you what if you want to see the next point
- 6:40Speaker 4: where I'm so cause I have I have kind of
- 6:44Speaker 4: I'll say this, I have a bubbly personality when it
- 6:46Speaker 4: when it's on, it's on.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:49Speaker 4: When the Yankees lose, which I think they're going to
- 6:51Speaker 4: do this year, you know, whether that's October fourth or
- 6:55Speaker 4: October twenty second or whatever.
- 6:57Speaker 1: That is, when the season's also right, that's.
- 6:59Speaker 4: When I I have that old Italian man moment where
- 7:02Speaker 4: I talk very stoic and I talk very basic, and
- 7:04Speaker 4: it's how did they do this? How did they not
- 7:06Speaker 4: do this? How could they think this was real? Turn
- 7:08Speaker 4: the mics off, let me go, and that's probably that's
- 7:12Speaker 4: my next loud but not loud moment.
- 7:14Speaker 2: All right, I want you on during those moments. Okay,
- 7:17Speaker 2: that's what I want you on, all right, Okay, none
- 7:20Speaker 2: is McFly?
- 7:21Speaker 1: Okay, I mean.
- 7:23Speaker 4: That's such a loaded question. Save answers, no, save answers no.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Okay, thank you, go ahead, Mikey.
- 7:31Speaker 5: I think fans, and by fans, I meete McFly and
- 7:35Speaker 5: Taylor and myself, not you, because you're way too logical
- 7:37Speaker 5: right now are more angry, not necessarily of yesterday, but
- 7:43Speaker 5: it's the last six eight months like this is a
- 7:46Speaker 5: bad deadline after a bad offseason where he basically just said, nah,
- 7:51Speaker 5: we'll be fine. We did, we did all right before,
- 7:54Speaker 5: we'll do it again.
- 7:56Speaker 4: It's man, if you want to do six eight months,
- 7:58Speaker 4: if you want to do six eight years, like we
- 8:00Speaker 4: could rack it up a lot of different ways that Yeah,
- 8:03Speaker 4: there's just let what this deadline felt like, which if
- 8:08Speaker 4: you will, okay, let's start going insane. This deadline felt
- 8:12Speaker 4: like them tripling down in their beliefs. Let's bring in
- 8:15Speaker 4: two sluggers. I don't even know if we got positions
- 8:18Speaker 4: for them, but how about two more sluggers. Yeah, they
- 8:21Speaker 4: don't necessarily grind out at bets. Luis Carcia Junior probably
- 8:24Speaker 4: deserves some more respect what he has been doing to Righty's.
- 8:29Speaker 4: He was leading the NL and slugging again, slugging, And
- 8:32Speaker 4: it's the Yankees just don't believe in team building anymore,
- 8:36Speaker 4: Like they don't believe in Hey, you need grinders at
- 8:39Speaker 4: the bottom, or we need this guy to get on base,
- 8:41Speaker 4: or you need different looks in their lineup. No, it
- 8:44Speaker 4: feels like of all the analytics and information we've pumped in,
- 8:48Speaker 4: they've somehow come back to like more Homers might win,
- 8:52Speaker 4: and it's never. It hasn't worked for them. It hasn't
- 8:57Speaker 4: worked for them in sixteen years. They went to the
- 9:00Speaker 4: World Series once, the New York Yankees, and they got
- 9:03Speaker 4: embarrassed at that World Series. But they're tripling down on
- 9:06Speaker 4: modern beliefs, which is insane, insane.
- 9:10Speaker 5: It feels to me like the two words that were
- 9:13Speaker 5: spoken the most in all the meetings when they were
- 9:15Speaker 5: discussing what to do was short porch. I feel like
- 9:18Speaker 5: that's all they cared about. Hey, hey, imagine this guy
- 9:21Speaker 5: with the short porch.
- 9:22Speaker 1: We'll nail that.
- 9:24Speaker 4: Well, it's that, And then hey, how about this. I'll
- 9:27Speaker 4: or rewind four years twenty two, twenty one when they
- 9:31Speaker 4: were all right handed, but their way they were gonna
- 9:34Speaker 4: beat the system was rieties that could hit it to
- 9:38Speaker 4: the short porch. Know who's really good at hitting into
- 9:40Speaker 4: the short porch? Lefties? And now they reverse course to
- 9:45Speaker 4: get those lefties back, because every legendary Yankee ever is
- 9:49Speaker 4: a big lefty that hit home runs before the rest
- 9:52Speaker 4: of the league figured it out. So yeah, man, it's
- 9:56Speaker 4: still in there. I'll get loud with you guys if
- 9:58Speaker 4: you want.
- 9:58Speaker 2: All right, we have a sound of both mikey A
- 10:01Speaker 2: and Taylor getting loud. It's the first baseball argument I've
- 10:04Speaker 2: heard since nineteen eighty seven. So it's Mike and Chris
- 10:06Speaker 2: did it on WFA and in New York. We're gonna
- 10:09Speaker 2: play this ound. Just know that Taylor, while he's talking,
- 10:12Speaker 2: Mikey A is holding his hands up in the air
- 10:15Speaker 2: in disagreement. All right, so here here's this sound, Taylor
- 10:19Speaker 2: and mikey A having a baseball brawl.
- 10:22Speaker 6: Don't put your hands up like that. What do you
- 10:24Speaker 6: put in your hands up?
- 10:25Speaker 1: Yes? That fights a team.
- 10:26Speaker 9: It's a team full of first basemen in DH's Mike,
- 10:30Speaker 9: you gotta play the field, who's catching, who's playing shortstop,
- 10:33Speaker 9: who's playing right and left field? With your two outfielders hurt,
- 10:37Speaker 9: You went and got a second basement first baseman when
- 10:40Speaker 9: those are the totally two spots that you're not.
- 10:43Speaker 6: Moving, Mikey they got a hitter, They got a hitter.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I mean to mcflies, how about that? Huh.
- 10:50Speaker 4: It's the best. It's the best. It's that, you know,
- 10:53Speaker 4: I know you said you haven't heard that since eighty seven.
- 10:55Speaker 4: There these baseball sickos were re emerging. I don't know
- 10:59Speaker 4: what happened during the two thousands. I don't know if
- 11:02Speaker 4: like Curry's three point shots were just so cool or
- 11:05Speaker 4: what happened, But we're appearing from the woodwork man. We exist.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Yep, lebron to the heat.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Happened for me at least, I mean, I don't know
- 11:12Speaker 2: what anyone else, but that's mine.
- 11:14Speaker 1: You know, it was a big one. Yes, Dodgers of
- 11:17Speaker 1: the field. Who would you.
- 11:18Speaker 4: Take Dodgers or the field? Dodgers?
- 11:22Speaker 1: Yeah, you would easily. Wow, that was easy for you.
- 11:25Speaker 4: Huh yeah, I as I'm balancing logic and non. I mean,
- 11:30Speaker 4: they've got one goal, one intention, and they they've been
- 11:34Speaker 4: operating with half their parts because they are they're playing
- 11:37Speaker 4: for something different. They added school ball and they're going
- 11:41Speaker 4: to get glass now. Snell Yamamoto has been one of
- 11:45Speaker 4: the best postseason performers ever. And that's before you get
- 11:47Speaker 4: to the lineup. And their bullpen was their achilles hell
- 11:50Speaker 4: last year and also going back to last year, they
- 11:53Speaker 4: didn't hit like their stats after the World Series were horrific.
- 11:57Speaker 4: I think they were on the interstate. I think they
- 12:00Speaker 4: in the ones and they won. Yeah, and they won,
- 12:03Speaker 4: so yeah, I the al I mean, my god, whoever
- 12:08Speaker 4: comes out of there. But yeah, it's it's the same
- 12:10Speaker 4: conversation for the past two years. Can the Phillies clip
- 12:13Speaker 4: them in five games? Can't? Basically you're only looking at
- 12:17Speaker 4: the five game set for who can clip them and
- 12:20Speaker 4: it hasn't happened. So I yeah, I would.
- 12:22Speaker 10: I would put money on them.
- 12:35Speaker 2: How'd you feel about Freddy Peralta going from the Mets
- 12:38Speaker 2: to the Rays? Because you know how this works, Jake,
- 12:40Speaker 2: what'd you leave the Meds? What happens is you pitched
- 12:42Speaker 2: like a Cy Young Award winner? Are you expecting that
- 12:45Speaker 2: from Freddy Peralta?
- 12:46Speaker 3: Here?
- 12:47Speaker 4: It could it could be raise Dodgers again. Run back
- 12:51Speaker 4: some twenty twenty, invoke all those pleasant memories, because yeah, man,
- 12:55Speaker 4: they had they had the deadline the Yankees fans wanted.
- 12:57Speaker 4: Oh we added a catcher, we added a starting and
- 13:00Speaker 4: we added a reliever. All right, nice like that. That's
- 13:03Speaker 4: what a trade deadline is supposed to be for every
- 13:05Speaker 4: winning team going back the past forty years. That, Yeah,
- 13:09Speaker 4: the Rays had a sneaky great deadline. They've had a
- 13:12Speaker 4: sneaky great season that and yeah it the biggest thing
- 13:16Speaker 4: for Freddy is getting the Mets off of him.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Yep, I just want to thank you because I just
- 13:19Speaker 2: found out the Rays won the World Series at twenty twenty.
- 13:22Speaker 1: How about that they made it to the World Series.
- 13:24Speaker 1: I had no idea. Yes, right, thank you for filling
- 13:29Speaker 1: me in.
- 13:30Speaker 4: It was a good one. It was a good one.
- 13:32Speaker 4: It was his Dodgers. That was before the Dodgers dynasty
- 13:35Speaker 4: had really actually started. And then they were illegitimate. They
- 13:40Speaker 4: were angry and now boy, they're just taking laps.
- 13:43Speaker 1: I'll trust you on it.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Is there anyone you thought that was going to be
- 13:46Speaker 2: traded yesterday that wasn't traded?
- 13:49Speaker 4: Ooh uh? Not really? Like I I would lose you
- 13:54Speaker 4: if I started talking about it like you're your Cincinnati
- 13:57Speaker 4: Reds didn't have a big deadline, so you know, they
- 14:00Speaker 4: should have sold everyone they could have, and they kind
- 14:02Speaker 4: of did it. But I don't you know Tyler Stevenson
- 14:05Speaker 4: as our platoon catcher, like no, your Mets. They emptied
- 14:10Speaker 4: the cupboard like they they did what they had to do.
- 14:12Speaker 4: I think the other guys other teams didn't necessarily want
- 14:16Speaker 4: what they were selling, but they they sold the guys
- 14:19Speaker 4: they should have that. No, there wasn't around the league.
- 14:21Speaker 4: There wasn't a ton of that except like the athletics
- 14:24Speaker 4: and the Reds didn't sell hard enough and nobody needs.
- 14:27Speaker 2: That, right, how'd you feel about school ball? Because it's interesting.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Baseball has a problem. Only a handful of teams are
- 14:33Speaker 2: trying to win. The Dodgers aren't the problem. They're one
- 14:35Speaker 2: of the teams trying to win every single year. But
- 14:38Speaker 2: from the Brewer standpoint, do you think they should have
- 14:41Speaker 2: tried to trade for school ball? Because I don't. And
- 14:43Speaker 2: here's why you get school ball. It's a rental for
- 14:46Speaker 2: a couple of months. They're not going to sign him
- 14:48Speaker 2: to a four hundred million dollar contract, and eventually he's
- 14:51Speaker 2: going to be a Dodger anyway.
- 14:52Speaker 1: What are your thoughts?
- 14:54Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess for me a we do hug prospects
- 14:59Speaker 4: too much. Like we're Luis Castillo who got traded again
- 15:01Speaker 4: this deadline a couple years ago. He gets traded from
- 15:04Speaker 4: the Reds. He's the best starting pitcher available and it
- 15:07Speaker 4: was like whoa, the Mariners threw a package at him.
- 15:10Speaker 4: Go look at the package. It's negative war. I think
- 15:14Speaker 4: three of the four players are negative war and the
- 15:16Speaker 4: other hasn't made it to the major So like, we
- 15:18Speaker 4: do get very caught up in the one time that
- 15:21Speaker 4: someone does get burnt by a trade, trading away prospect
- 15:26Speaker 4: who becomes generational, it very rarely happens because it's so
- 15:29Speaker 4: hard in this game to be good that for me,
- 15:32Speaker 4: my only hand up moment is the trade they did
- 15:35Speaker 4: with the Dodgers. I believe would have been there till
- 15:37Speaker 4: the final minute of the trade deadline. Then why wouldn't
- 15:40Speaker 4: you wait for the Brewers, the Braid, for any other
- 15:42Speaker 4: team to bring an offer. Where the story is the
- 15:45Speaker 4: Tigers called the Dodgers on Saturday and said we want
- 15:49Speaker 4: to trade with you, which, again, maybe there's a nice
- 15:51Speaker 4: handshake with Tarrek Skouble like you've been good for us,
- 15:54Speaker 4: will take care of you. But if I'm the Detroit Tigers,
- 15:56Speaker 4: I want the best package, if I'm trading away the
- 15:59Speaker 4: best pitch and it it didn't really feel like that,
- 16:03Speaker 4: But that that could just be me being salty because
- 16:06Speaker 4: the Dodgers have turned into what our Yankees used to
- 16:08Speaker 4: be chick.
- 16:09Speaker 6: From a non Yankee perspective, what did you think of
- 16:11Speaker 6: Adlie Rushman going from the Orioles to the Red Sox
- 16:14Speaker 6: Because the package Baltimore got felt like almost like a
- 16:17Speaker 6: superstar level package.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Yeah, who's who's your favorite player of that Boston package?
- 16:23Speaker 4: Who do you love watching play?
- 16:24Speaker 6: That's a good point.
- 16:27Speaker 2: I don't I can't believe you shut him up first time.
- 16:33Speaker 4: Go look, go look at the Red Sox Mookie Betts package. Like,
- 16:37Speaker 4: this is baseball, and I know there's some good ones. Hey,
- 16:39Speaker 4: the Nationals for Juan Soto, they got back some dudes.
- 16:43Speaker 4: How's that working out for them on the whole? Like
- 16:46Speaker 4: the Red Sox got Adley Rushman, And if I see
- 16:48Speaker 4: him playing in October, and if I see him playing
- 16:51Speaker 4: later in October than the Yankees, I'm gonna be furious.
- 16:54Speaker 4: And then hey, if two or three years down the road,
- 16:57Speaker 4: one or two of those guys turn into something great.
- 16:59Speaker 4: They just traded away Marcelo Mayer. It was top ten
- 17:03Speaker 4: prospect for like three years. They got a lefty reliever
- 17:07Speaker 4: for a couple seasons. Like that's how goes? How is Volpi?
- 17:12Speaker 4: It's over? It's over that. What trade offers did they
- 17:16Speaker 4: turn down for Jason Dominga's And now would what would
- 17:19Speaker 4: you have traded Jason dimingas for yesterday? So the prospect
- 17:22Speaker 4: stuff every year, you hear me kicking in a little more,
- 17:26Speaker 4: like what are we really doing. Yeah, what are we
- 17:28Speaker 4: really doing? Because it's really hard to be good at
- 17:30Speaker 4: this sport. So if you can get someone that you
- 17:33Speaker 4: know is good at this sport, go get them.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Do you think the lack of moves by the Yankees
- 17:40Speaker 2: would suggest that maybe Aaron Judge is not coming back?
- 17:43Speaker 1: What do you think?
- 17:44Speaker 4: I don't think so. I like the theory, I'll be honest.
- 17:48Speaker 4: When I was watching the Yankees lose twice last night,
- 17:52Speaker 4: I found myself in that theory yet again. But like,
- 17:55Speaker 4: I don't know, man, No, I think the Yankees believe
- 18:00Speaker 4: in what they do so much, which is shocking because
- 18:05Speaker 4: the results aren't there. That they believe in their guys
- 18:07Speaker 4: getting healthy, which they should, Like, I don't know Belly's
- 18:11Speaker 4: coming back, Like I believe in that Stanton in some form,
- 18:14Speaker 4: Judge was playing with the injury, so the fact there
- 18:18Speaker 4: was no surgery or anything makes me think he can
- 18:20Speaker 4: try to play through it. I don't know what version
- 18:23Speaker 4: of him you're getting, but it's gonna be a better
- 18:25Speaker 4: version than whoever else is on the field. That they
- 18:28Speaker 4: they just believe in what they're doing, which is kind
- 18:31Speaker 4: of nuts because it hasn't worked.
- 18:33Speaker 5: With the lack of moves, that the deadline and this
- 18:36Speaker 5: shiny new toy they're putting in front of us in
- 18:38Speaker 5: George Lombard. How much pressure is on Lombard to be
- 18:43Speaker 5: everything we've been told he's going to be immediately.
- 18:49Speaker 4: I'll try to I don't know if this is fade
- 18:51Speaker 4: in the fade, but like, I don't think there's pressure, Like, uh,
- 18:55Speaker 4: who's walking around loving the Yankees fan? Not Yankee fans
- 18:58Speaker 4: right now?
- 18:59Speaker 2: Right?
- 18:59Speaker 4: And it's not like he's not replacing Jeter. He's replacing Voltpy.
- 19:04Speaker 4: So if he can come in play solid defense, we're
- 19:09Speaker 4: back to where we were right and that has been
- 19:11Speaker 4: the scouting report that my god, if he puts a
- 19:14Speaker 4: couple good swings on a ball, he might be walking
- 19:17Speaker 4: into the perfect situation. And I guess the only other
- 19:21Speaker 4: part to that is like we're calling up a kid
- 19:23Speaker 4: who's twenty one and he's now the starting shortstop of
- 19:26Speaker 4: the New York Yankees. I bet you know, if you
- 19:28Speaker 4: asked him a real question, he's like, Yeah, I'm about
- 19:30Speaker 4: to save the season. I'm the man, and he should
- 19:32Speaker 4: think that, right, like if you're an athlete. But yeah,
- 19:36Speaker 4: he he could be walking into a great spot, or
- 19:38Speaker 4: he could be watching the Bronx burn around him.
- 19:41Speaker 2: So the bar is vulpy, right, And I'm with you.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Since the bar is vulpy, that's an easy bar for
- 19:46Speaker 2: him to eclipse, right, no pressure.
- 19:47Speaker 1: I'm with you on that.
- 19:49Speaker 4: Not bad, right or Baby Cabrierlero if you thought Cabiro
- 19:52Speaker 4: is a little better. But again, that's still that's a
- 19:55Speaker 4: vagabond utility player, Jake.
- 19:57Speaker 6: As you heard earlier, I was a fan of the
- 19:59Speaker 6: Yankees acquiring Luis Garcia Junior just because the lineup is
- 20:02Speaker 6: so bad, and I don't think beggars can be choosers
- 20:05Speaker 6: when you're looking at the potential lineups, the Yankees could have.
- 20:08Speaker 6: My problem with Luis Garcia Junior his numbers against lefties,
- 20:13Speaker 6: We're on a collision course. I don't know if the
- 20:15Speaker 6: Yankees realize this with a with a matchup against the
- 20:18Speaker 6: Red Sox in the wildcard round, and when you look
- 20:20Speaker 6: at the Red Sox Ranger Suarez lefty, Peyton Totley lefty,
- 20:24Speaker 6: if Garrett Crochet comes back, lefty, Jake Bennett lefty, Patrick
- 20:28Speaker 6: Sandoval lefty, how big of a problem is it that
- 20:31Speaker 6: the big deadline acquisition seems like he might be unplayable
- 20:34Speaker 6: against your biggest rival.
- 20:36Speaker 4: Well, as long as the Red Sox don't have a
- 20:38Speaker 4: lefty closer, right, oh way, yeah, our our former closer.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Is he questioning whether or not the Yankees are aware
- 20:45Speaker 1: of this? Is that what you're doing?
- 20:47Speaker 6: And I don't think they are.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Well, honestly, the sad part is it could be a
- 20:51Speaker 4: fair question. I guess. Okay, let's get into dark Yankee dreams.
- 20:55Speaker 4: It's coming down to the end of the season, and
- 20:57Speaker 4: it's one of those If you win, you play boss.
- 21:00Speaker 4: If you lose, you play the other team. Would the
- 21:01Speaker 4: Yankees throw a game to go into the Wildcard to
- 21:05Speaker 4: not face the Boston Red Sox, who are filled with
- 21:08Speaker 4: lefty pitching, Cause you're right, and there's still season to
- 21:11Speaker 4: play out, because like, hey, if Judge Stanton, our guy
- 21:14Speaker 4: Ellie Ramos, if they're bashing lefties and Goldie finds it again,
- 21:19Speaker 4: maybe we do have a lefty bashing lineup. We'll see.
- 21:25Speaker 4: Every time the Red Sox have put us in a
- 21:27Speaker 4: moment of is this going to work out for the
- 21:30Speaker 4: Red Sox or Yankees? It's been Red Sox four out
- 21:32Speaker 4: of the last five. By the way, Jared Durant catches
- 21:34Speaker 4: a fly ball last year, Red Sox win the wildcard
- 21:37Speaker 4: game two games to none.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Right, Jake, would you be upset if the Yankees did
- 21:40Speaker 2: throw a game to avoid the Red Sox?
- 21:45Speaker 4: No, but that's because I've got a little bit of
- 21:47Speaker 4: a sick o side to me. It's like, oh, if
- 21:50Speaker 4: you boys are gonna do that, they need better go
- 21:54Speaker 4: win the next one. Like, that's when I that's when
- 21:57Speaker 4: I I'll sit down for the game early. I'll make
- 21:59Speaker 4: sure I got everything and be like, let's see what
- 22:01Speaker 4: you boys got.
- 22:03Speaker 6: Stude Jake. Jake mentioned the Yankees acquiring Elliott Ramos from
- 22:07Speaker 6: the Giants. The Yankees lead the league in platoon bats
- 22:09Speaker 6: because he's he's only good against lefties.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Right.
- 22:11Speaker 6: Uh, but Joe's McFly was streaming for six hours yesterday
- 22:16Speaker 6: and and this was his reaction when he found out
- 22:18Speaker 6: the Yankees only big move was Elliott Ramos yesterday, I've
- 22:22Speaker 6: been live.
- 22:22Speaker 8: For six hours, So watch the Yankees guy, just Elliott
- 22:25Speaker 8: Ramos and watch everybody else play off side of the sun.
- 22:31Speaker 2: It's kind of omnic fly for going live for six hours.
- 22:34Speaker 2: I mean, who does that?
- 22:36Speaker 1: The Mania five day?
- 22:37Speaker 4: Yeah, he's he is, He's a one of one. And again, yes,
- 22:43Speaker 4: if this is a Wally Pip situation. It's been a
- 22:45Speaker 4: great run. But he that's how he sees it, and he's, uh,
- 22:51Speaker 4: I think a shout out to my guy, Joe's he
- 22:53Speaker 4: turned forty this year, so he's he's seen, he's seen
- 22:56Speaker 4: a lot of this beautiful world. And he he did.
- 22:59Speaker 4: He did not like the deadline yesterday, and no Yank,
- 23:02Speaker 4: no Yankee fan walked away saying it was great.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Right. Uh. Jake story Alley, You're always welcome here.
- 23:07Speaker 2: By the way, John Boy Media, check out his podcast
- 23:09Speaker 2: wherever you get your podcast talking baseball and talking Yanks.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Final question on the way out here we are We've
- 23:14Speaker 2: been asking every guest this question. Indiana football school or
- 23:19Speaker 2: basketball school?
- 23:20Speaker 4: Huh wow, Yeah, I would say I would say football school. Man.
- 23:27Speaker 4: I mean, and I grew up. I grew up in Connecticut.
- 23:29Speaker 4: I'm a huge Yukon fan. My dad went to Yukon
- 23:32Speaker 4: that I'm blessed to follow what was the beautiful Big
- 23:35Speaker 4: East basketball And I remember hearing about the lord that
- 23:38Speaker 4: was Indiana and Bobby Knight and watching watching Coach k
- 23:42Speaker 4: praise Bobby Knight that showed him the world in all
- 23:44Speaker 4: its secrets. But has Indiana been something since Bobby. And
- 23:48Speaker 4: that's a lot of moons.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Now, right, went to one final four. I think that's
- 23:51Speaker 2: it without Bobby eg yay, right, Like.
- 23:54Speaker 4: That's that's not They won the Natty and football football,
- 24:00Speaker 4: Like I don't. San Francisco is still a basketball.
- 24:03Speaker 2: School, I know because they won the two championships with
- 24:06Speaker 2: Bill Russell.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Is that what you're saying?
- 24:07Speaker 4: Yeah, like what was that nineteen fifties or like, I
- 24:10Speaker 4: don't know.
- 24:12Speaker 2: But they're also not a football school, you know, like
- 24:14Speaker 2: Yukon is a basketball school that wishes they were a
- 24:17Speaker 2: football school.
- 24:18Speaker 4: Oh god, don't even that would be if I had
- 24:20Speaker 4: to go back to school and write a thesis paper,
- 24:23Speaker 4: I would write something about how Paul Pascaloni was the
- 24:26Speaker 4: worst hire in sports history.
- 24:30Speaker 1: That's the one you left on the table.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Huh Yeah, I'm literally not gonna do the whole thing
- 24:36Speaker 4: because that Yukon had some actual football momentum and instead
- 24:39Speaker 4: of hiring the sexy cool coordinator. Oh, Pascaloni knows the region. Great,
- 24:44Speaker 4: they didn't win. His only good years are with McNabb
- 24:49Speaker 4: and Marvin Harrison.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Right, he knows the region. He can get from point
- 24:52Speaker 1: A to point B.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Who cares and he knows ninety five North to you credit, though,
- 25:01Speaker 3: they do have one of my Mount Rushmore moments for
- 25:03Speaker 3: college football within the past twenty years when Bob Diaco
- 25:08Speaker 3: had the game against UCF and he just said, hey,
- 25:11Speaker 3: we're gonna call this the Civil Convict Bowl, and he
- 25:15Speaker 3: had his own trophy made up for that, and UCF
- 25:18Speaker 3: was like, we don't recognize this rivalry.
- 25:21Speaker 4: We'd rather not. No thanks. They left the trophy after Yeah,
- 25:24Speaker 4: I yes, that's fair. Jim Morre Junior or Jim Morri
- 25:29Speaker 4: came in started talking about ghosts in his house or
- 25:31Speaker 4: something that was scary, but hey, they ended up they
- 25:33Speaker 4: ended up being all.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Right, yep, Jake, my apologies, my computer just crashed here.
- 25:38Speaker 2: But we appreciate the time. As Zoey's you can't see

- 25:57Speaker 4: He's crazy there, No, he needs it for his heart.
- 26:00Speaker 4: He's a big Dominican guy that's streaming for six hours
- 26:03Speaker 4: and screaming about the Yankees. He needs to go to
