- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to another episode of Learn Spanish with Fexingo. Luna: Thanks, Lucas. I'm so ready. Last time we were checking into a hotel, and I'm still thinking about that key card. Lucas: Ha, the llave. Good memory. Today we're doing something way more casual — we're at the park, and we're hungry. Luna: Oh, I could go for a snack. What do we need to say? Lucas: First, the basics. If you want to order something, you say quiero un sándwich. Quiero means 'I want.' Let me say it slowly. Lucas: Quiero un sándwich. Luna: Quiero un sándwich. Lucas: Perfect. Now, you need to ask the price. ¿Cuánto cuesta? That's 'how much does it cost?' Say it with me. Lucas: ¿Cuánto cuesta? Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta? Lucas: Great. And then you'll want to say you're going to pay. Voy a pagar. Voy a means 'I'm going to', pagar is 'to pay'. Lucas: Voy a pagar. Luna: Voy a pagar. Lucas: Nice. And if you need change, you ask ¿Tiene cambio? That's 'do you have change?' Lucas: ¿Tiene cambio? Luna: ¿Tiene cambio? Hmm, that one's a bit tricky, but I think I got it. Lucas: You did. Let's put it all together in a little scene. Imagine you walk up to the snack stand. You say quiero un sándwich. Luna: Quiero un sándwich. Lucas: Then they tell you the price. You ask ¿Cuánto cuesta? Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta? Lucas: They say two dollars. You say voy a pagar, and then ¿tiene cambio? because you only have a five. Luna: Voy a pagar. ¿Tiene cambio? Lucas: That's it. You're all set. Now, I want to mention something quick. You know how we keep making these episodes for you, right? Luna: Yeah, every week we're here, and I know a lot of people listen. Lucas: If Fexingo has helped you make progress with Spanish, a couple of dollars a month is genuinely what keeps these going. It's like buying me a coffee. Luna: Totally. And you can do that at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Lucas: Exactly. Even a small amount helps us keep it ad-free. But no pressure. Now, back to our snack. So you've got your sándwich. What do you say to someone who's with you? Luna: Hmm, maybe something like 'do you want one?' Lucas: Right, but let's keep it to what we know. You can offer with ¿quieres? But let's not add too much. Let's practice our four phrases once more. Lucas: Quiero un sándwich. Luna: Quiero un sándwich. Lucas: ¿Cuánto cuesta? Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta? Lucas: Voy a pagar. Luna: Voy a pagar. Lucas: ¿Tiene cambio? Luna: ¿Tiene cambio? Lucas: Perfect. Now imagine you're at the counter, and you need to ask if they have a menu. That's for another day. Today, you know exactly what to say to get your snack. Luna: I love that. I'm going to try this next time I'm at a park. Even if it's just in my head. Lucas: That's the spirit. Practice these phrases until we chat again, and you'll be ready for anything. Thanks for listening, and see you next time.
