- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: I actually do stand by a quote information without integration as constipation.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_01]: And more information just rarely builds confidence on its own.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, more information often really makes you realize, oh my God, I don't know as much as I thought I did.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Beat till you see it podcast, where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm also Logan, prize instructor and fitness business coach.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: I've trained thousands of people around the world, and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: My friends, action brings clarity, and it's the antidote to fear.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: Each week my guests will bring bold, executable, intrinsic, and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and be it until you see it.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's a practice, not a perfect, let's get started.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: Alright, be it babe, are you a Pilis instructor?
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: This episode is going to dive into that.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: If you're not, or you still might get some good ideas out of it, it's all being a tell you see it.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: If you've been asking yourself, I'm doing this right.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: Am I good enough?
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: Can I really teach this?
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: But if my clients get bored of me.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: If any of those questions have run through your head this week or this month or in the last year, I want to stay with me because this episode is for you.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: And because last episode, I actually told you what up lift was and who it's for up lift is my new teacher training program for people who want to become a prize instructor who have been partially trained and there is potential for comprehensively trained teachers to want to do up lift.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_01]: but maybe you're already a teacher and you're wondering, should I do a lift?
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: Should I do elevate?
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: What are these two things?
- 1:41[SPEAKER_01]: And here's a deal.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: Elevator thing went on for over six years.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: The time I'm recording this, I've graduated six rounds.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: And so, but now everyone knows that I have it because it's one of those things.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: I just keep feeling and growing.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: And I wanted to have something that for those who are interested who are wondering which one you should do, wanted to have something you could listen to, understand, and really,
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: look back on before you make big decisions because there's a lot of mentorship programs out there.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: So how do you know what you should do?
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: So today I want to know about elevate, which is just a part of my, it's also a nice idea I would never do.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: So elevate is a mentorship program that I built for teachers who were already trained.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: And when I say already trained, I mean, and certified, I mean, you've done mat reformer, Cadillac,
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: and one to share.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: Now, if you've done more than that, great.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: If you've done less than that, uplift, right?
- 2:31[SPEAKER_01]: Because if you haven't done those things, then generally speaking, you've done partial trainings, and I need you to go to uplift and do that because it's just a lot going on.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: And a mentorship program is a little bit different than a teacher training program, because a mentorship program you are.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_01]: already working with clients you already know exercises you already you also know what you don't you feel like you know what you don't know right so like you feel incomplete and you're looking for a fixed miss like adding find the missing pieces to the puzzle.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_01]: And I just want to say that feeling is in a sign that you did your training wrong or the training you had was crap.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: Could have been really great.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: I've had people go through some really great training so you still do elevate.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's a sign that you are ready for another layer, that you are ready to learn.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: Because the reality is loves you can only take in so much when you're learning for the first time.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: There's this thing that take a few times to learn, just like if you talk to your clients, like some of them it takes months for them to actually remember how to do coordination, right?
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: So let's talk about why I levated exists.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: I won, I was continued to be asked to create some like this.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, I don't know.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: But what I kept seeing over and over again in traveling the world of teach workshops and classes and watching people ask questions on my YouTube channel was of kind of doing mentoring in small.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: Small little ways, but not over a long period of time, is that people are coming out of their certification out of their training programs and they can name an exercise and they could run a session, they could keep a client going and they could keep a class going and they could fill the space with great cues and words, but if you asked them why they were choosing the exercise or why they thought someone was ready to progress.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_01]: their confidence kind of got shaky.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't really have some people didn't have an answer at all.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: Some people were what do you think?
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: Some people were that's why I was told and they didn't like how that felt.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't wouldn't like how that felt.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: and they couldn't trust the why behind it.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's, you can go pretty far without knowing why, but at some point, everybody wants to know why.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: The brain is curious, right?
- 4:34[SPEAKER_01]: So all that exists was created to close that gap for those teachers.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's a safe space to deepen what you already know and also really get to know what you might not know of that Joe Pilai's greatness hit his intentions for this work.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: and to do it in a community of people who are all wanting the same thing and ask the question you've been sitting on and grow with people who get it.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: And so I really wanted to help with that.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of mentorship programs out there.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: So my friends are doing them.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: And the reality is I always tell people, you're the only person who can do it to do the way that you do it.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: And my friends who do it, they can do it in the way that they only can do it.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: And there's people that will truly resonate with them more than they'll resonate with me.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: But there's also some people who just like direct, thoughtful, honest feedback and not in a dogmatic way.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: And so any of the programs I create, they're classical because that's how I teach, but there's no dogma.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: We don't work on that.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: So I want to give you a little bit of my story.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: When I picked my first Pilis program, I actually had no idea what I was doing.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: It just happened me classical.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: I was told to go take from that person.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I was really taught to
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think that they would say they taught.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think on my feet and in some capacities, they might have, but truly they told me to say it like this because it works.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: What happened is I tried to do it with a real human in a studio and they didn't do it.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: I was expecting it and I was like, well, I wrote the script out the window.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't really work.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I also notice that all the people who've been trained the same way I was trained they we all sounded like little parents we are all like anyone of us could have taught any one of those clients than the client probably would notice if their eyes were closed because we just all sounded the same and so then I did another training program and I got a lot more information and I realized it definitely answered a lot of questions and and filled a lot of dissonance, but it wasn't enough.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_01]: still felt like there was a, a why that was missing.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_01]: And so when I started sitting with Jay and the people who stayed with him, things just really started to click.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: There was a patient and a perseverance that was cultivated.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: And it wasn't about.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, let's do the flashy exercise, it was no, you've got to get the juice out of these foundational exercises and finding the strength and power in that and also, you know, for those of you who know Pilates styles as a classical teacher, there are orders and so it's, well, how do I do all these orders a year after a year without getting bored and it's wow, there's actually so much creativity in the way that Jay taught me to teach with the orders.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: What is that body need to day right now?
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: What is one of my scene, right?
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: And that was neat.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't get for manual.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't have one.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: And so that was really cool.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I wanted to pass on that information that J gave to me and the teachers that worked with him and give it to other teachers in a way that would work.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: what I found is that there was a way for a lot of teachers to not be accepted into that program, of readiness, accessibility of equipment, travel, money, things like that, and I wanted to create a mentorship program that would allow people from all over the world to be able to learn without having to fly into Vegas.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: I also wanted people who were interested in learning Joe's exercises who were not ready to do a full reformer, to still be able to be in a mentorship program where they could learn those things and learn how to build themselves up and then progress themselves.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: And so I wanted to create something that didn't have any
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: barrier of entry when it comes to the ability and level of practice, but at least we don't have the base understanding that you've at least know these pieces of equipment so that we're not overwhelming you too much, right?
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: So elevators not about more information.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a pattern I see consistently.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: I see a lot of teachers just saying it for workshops, so they can collect more exercises.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: Collect more exercises and more exercises and more cues and more cues.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: And I actually do stand by a quote that I heard on a breath work training that I did, which is information with that integration is constipation.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: And more information just rarely builds confidence on its own.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, more information often really makes you realize, oh my God, I don't know as much as I thought I did.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: And if you don't have a space in a place where you can safely integrate that information, then you just have overwhelming your head or constipation in your brain.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: And so how do we give you more information and also a way to integrate that information in real time with people who are learning
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: and also with your clients.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: And so elevate is a nine month program.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not just a workshop weekend.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: And we go from Matt to reform our antichallic and pedipole to the chairs to the barrels.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: And we layer in each apparatus that Joe gave us based on the spine shapes that exist in Pilates.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: So that you
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: get a little bit more information each time we meet, but you have time to integrate it and correlate it before you get more.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: And that way, you're not collecting exercises.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: You're weaving the system together.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: You're seeing that how it works.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: And what Superfun is, it takes nine months, but then we do it forever together, because Elevate runs January to September.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: I take one group each time.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: Every six to seven weeks were meeting for the weekends.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: We have about 11-ish.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes more calls.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: We have a community where you can chat and work together.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: And each person is an elevate gets five calls one on the way with me to kind of go through the assessment that they did.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_01]: And when you graduate, you're in the alumni group, and so the learning continues, that's when elevate finally starts.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: So that's what's really cool, but I only can want to want a year, and that is on purpose, I know everyone's quite crazy in Q4, so let's not overwhelm ourselves just because we have a desire to learn more information, but that's not what the seasons are doing.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: And in doing that nine month program, you get confidence from understanding the information and applying it and getting feedback feedback from the other people that you're working with but feedback from me because I'm not here for you to memorize more.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: I really want you to have a bigger
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: picture, understand 30,000 foot view before we get so nuanced, sometimes I think teachers get so focused on the pinky toe when really the issue is the pelvis, right?
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: So how do we actually take in the bigger picture before we get to hyperfocus on something?
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: And then how do I create a space where you can be in process, but also get feedback so that we can ditch perfectionism and imposter syndrome and create true confidence and being present with the clients at your teaching.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: So, elevate is built on the classical applies method that J. Grimes taught to me in Chamoda and Karen, freshman all that.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: And he said it with Joe Pilates and Ramana.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: And so you learn all the exercises, all of them.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: And you will learn the orders, but bigger picture, it's less about memorizing and more about.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: what do you see that they need?
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: What do you feel that they need?
- 11:36[SPEAKER_01]: What do you feel you need?
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: What is your intuition telling you?
- 11:38[SPEAKER_01]: And then what exercise is on the other apparatus?
- 11:40[SPEAKER_01]: Can we pull in to teach the body the thing that you keep seeing?
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: Because the reality is loves eye to see so many teachers just repeat the same cue over and over and expecting the clients to actually remember it.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: The truth is that they heard you that either can't do it or didn't understand it.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: And so if they can't do it, you can't talk to lies into a body as a J always told me.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: You have to give them in the exercise that they need.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: And that is the heart of elevate.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_01]: Most teachers will know what comes next in a sequence or what would flow best.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: But for you can tell why or why they're choosing an exercise or why they went that way or why they're doing that flow.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: Most of them say, oh, it's an arm day.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's an ab day, oh, it's a hip day.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: What if it's a body day?
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: And elevate really does help you understand why an exercise exists, where it sits inside the system, for one person versus another, because Pilis isn't linear.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: How connects to the exercise around it, and how to progress a client with intention instead of guesswork.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: And once you can really understand that, why, once you can start to see how
- 12:41[SPEAKER_01]: each exercise supports another and how we have 500 exercises, yes, but we have one exercise truly that we do 500 different ways.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: You stop over complicating the work and you start meeting people exactly where they are and that is the thing that I think elevate does so well and what teachers love so much because they're no longer just, well, I got five minutes, what if something I can do right now?
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: But what do they need in these next five minutes?
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of teachers I have discovered in my time really worry about their clients are going to get bored, especially if they're teaching orders.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: And so they rush the progression.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_01]: So they start giving them new exercise every single time they come and they feel pressured to invent something new every week because that's what gets clicks on Instagram.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: But when you understand the system deeply, you don't really feel the need to invent anything, the method itself is full of so much inspiration and you can progress clients with patience and creativity, because you can finally trust the material you're staying on, because you know it, you understand it, you've elevated, and I think that's so important, right?
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: When you really
- 13:40[SPEAKER_01]: Do understand where you're taking someone to, you can get them to buy in a lot into their practice.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_01]: And so if they don't, they know they don't need to be entertained, they know they they're getting stronger and they can compare themselves with themselves because you help them do that because here's every body.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_01]: is different.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_01]: And some cues, the people love that they say I'm saying, other people probably on the same class going, well, that's stupid.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_01]: Now, everyone is going to be at the same pace.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_01]: Now, everyone needs the same correction.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: Elevate trains you to actually see what's in front of you instead of running under the same script on every client.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_01]: You actually are able to say, what is it is they need to be doing?
- 14:18[SPEAKER_01]: or see that they can't do what that is and you can pick and exercise that they need.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's really fun because it really feels like taking a great recipe and then going, oh, you know what I feel like today a little more spice or a little more saver or a little more sweet.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: And that's how you make pull eyes accessible to more people by the way.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_01]: You're not going to have to water the work down to do what you can actually just go, oh, wow, I thought they're ready for that.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, let's take this exercise over here so we can ready for them for the next time, right?
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: So you're also not doing this alone.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like, elevate is actually me talking at you for nine months.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: That would be silly.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_01]: It is a live virtual program.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: can come to Vegas for trains if you want.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_01]: There is a community aspect that is in real time it's so, so fun.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_01]: I said the weekly there's about 11 calls during it.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_01]: They're not weekly calls because there's more than 11 weeks but we have a call and it's where we can really nerd out together and answer questions.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: You have a practice partner so you have someone that you are progressing the
- 15:17[SPEAKER_01]: The thing about your partner is they represent of true client.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: And so you get real feedback and real time and real teaching.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_01]: There's some really great self reflections and you're going to be practicing what you're learning in that group, but also you get to practice it in real time in the sessions that you're doing in the clients that you're teaching and so you can actually get.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: real life feedback from me that will apply to the world that you're in, right, which I think is so important.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: So many times people are taught.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: Well, this is what it is, but they're not taught.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_01]: So what happens when you work on a real body?
- 15:50[SPEAKER_01]: How does that work out?
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: And you have my support in those nine months, but then beyond, because when you graduate, unless you hate me, which I doubt you will, I don't sense it.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: Go like, but like,
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: I have an alumni group where you can participate and ask me questions for the rest of your polarized teaching life as long as you want to, right?
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: So here's the structure.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's five live virtual training weekends.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's spread across nine months and that space scene is so that you can take the time you need to to break down the concepts, practice with real clients, come back with questions, go deeper, practice with your partner,
- 16:27[SPEAKER_01]: So we start with the math and props.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: Then we go to the reformer, then we do the cat.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like I'm pedipool, then we do chairs, we do barrels.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: By the end, you'll have touched every single piece of equipment that Joe created and then some.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_01]: And also, you will understand how to apply this to one-on-ones to groups.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: And then also, I love that people get from my program is how to teach people at different levels at the same time so that you can have them classes that are more like personalized privates.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: And what all of that does with that process does is it really helps you shift from am I doing this right and my good enough, can I really teach this, who do I think I am one of my clients get bored to actually saying, oh, I understand the system, I can see my client needs I can make decision the moment.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_01]: I trust myself as a teacher.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really great as a teacher.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: I don't need to worry about what they're doing over there, because I know what I'm doing over here, and that shift is the entire point.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_01]: We call it elevate, because I wanted to elevate your teaching, your practice, and most importantly, connection to this method.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I don't believe in waiting until you feel ready before you act.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: The person you want to become and that's true here.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_01]: Be it till you see it, this podcast, everything, including elevate.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: You don't build confidence by sitting still and willing, oh, it's going to arrive.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to knock on the door.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_01]: You build it through practice and feedback and messy action and trying again.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: Elevate gives you the room to be the teacher you're wanting to become before you fully feel like that person yet it really is a space where you can be it to you see it.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: The teacher you're oh I wish I was like this the person who admire how can we act as if you're that person you do that instead of elevate it's a container that helps hold you accountable to doing that over nine months and beyond.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_01]: So if you have trained to be a teacher, you've done at least the mat reformer, Cadillac, and one to chair, and you feel like something's missing in your practice, it feels like you are having some imposter syndrome that you are struggling to feel, you're making the impact that you desire on the resume, we came a teacher, elevates for you.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: And what you can do is you can go to, take a quiz, it's xxll.co slash quiz.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: And that will actually help you understand if you should bridge into a lift, or if you should do the elevate training with me.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: I run it as I said a small group once a year, so we do have a weight list, you can go to xxll.co-elevate.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: You can find out if we have a space open or our next cohort or when the next cohort is going to have a space open, and something you should also know is that they get a lot of people like, oh, I want to be an uplift educator right now as I record this the only way to be an uplift educator is to have gone through elevate at some point there might be a mini bridge for that, but in this time that I'm recording in this time that I'm creating everything the elevate grads are the people can be uplift educators and it's just because I get to spend so much time with them.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: And I get to know them and I can understand type of educator would be so until I can figure out a different path to that.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_00]: That is how it goes.
