- 0:00So the reason why I say if you're autistic then you will
- 0:02100% do this is because there are certain things that a body
- 0:05responds to that are almost universal in autism.
- 0:08And we're getting into that right now.
- 0:12Autistic brains kind of process sensory input a lot differently.
- 0:16And that means we often notice certain things that other people
- 0:18don't notice or the typical people don't notice, which is
- 0:21really interesting. So in this video, I'm going to
- 0:22show you two things that pretty much every autistic person
- 0:25experiences, and I'm going to do that right now.
- 0:27So if we back up a little bit here, autism changes how we
- 0:30experience certain things or how we experience senses or sensory
- 0:33input from light, touch, sound, smell, movement, all that kind
- 0:36of stuff. Now I'm autistic, I've diagnosed
- 0:39autism and ADHD, and my name is Dan.
- 0:41By the way, If you're new around here and want to learn more than

- 0:46bell down below so you don't miss a video that we're
- 0:48publishing here on this channel. And this can cause unique
- 0:51reactions to neurotypical people.
- 0:53They may never notice certain things like neurotypical people
- 0:56or not. Autistic people will walk around
- 0:58and they'll do their daily life and then all of a sudden they
- 1:01don't know of something. Autistic individuals will walk
- 1:03around and we'll see something and we can identify.
- 1:07But why are those things? This is so interesting and some
- 1:10traits are really common in autistic people and they also
- 1:13feel like it's a shared language that only we can see it.
- 1:16And I did a viral TikTok video on this one of these things and
- 1:19it was so interesting because it took off like wildfire and
- 1:21people were like, wow, this is true.
- 1:23And I kind of joking was like this is the test if you're
- 1:25artistic or not. If you can see this, then you're
- 1:26artistic. If you can't see it then.
- 1:27So the first one was light flickering.
- 1:30All lights flicker. There's a vibration of lights
- 1:32flickered and cathode tube lighting or strip lighting.
- 1:36You know this kind of stuff you have in like offices and like
- 1:37malls and things like that. Those strips have a flicker,
- 1:40which is a frame rate, which means that it vibrates.
- 1:42The light vibrates in intervals and typically the light vibrates
- 1:47so fast that we can't see the speed in which it flickers.
- 1:52So it just looks like a constant light.
- 1:53Repeat your phone over over the old TV's.
- 1:55You can see that the lines in the middle of the air than that.
- 1:57And or if you've taken a video on your phone and there's a
- 2:00strobe light and you're like, how is this strobe lighting
- 2:02coming? So autistic individuals actually
- 2:05can see that flicker of the light, right?
- 2:07And this is fascinating because I could be somewhere and I'm
- 2:10like, Oh my goodness, can you see this light flickering?
- 2:13And the people are like, oh, life real.
- 2:14I'm like, dudes, it's like a discord and they're like, no, I
- 2:17can't see it. Like Oh my goodness.
- 2:19And then I found out the more I spoke about this and the more I
- 2:22talked to other people about it, I found out that the autistic
- 2:24friends I had were like, you know, I can see the light.
- 2:26I'm like, yeah, it's flickering. And then the non autistic people
- 2:28were like, there's no flicky or what's going on?
- 2:30I'm like, what the heck is going on?
- 2:34So that being said, I put a video out saying hey, if you're
- 2:38autistic you'll relate to this. And they were like almost, I'd
- 2:41say good. 99% of my audience, I see the light and the people who
- 2:45didn't see it were like, I'm not autistic and I can't see the
- 2:47light. And a lot of people were like,
- 2:48hey, I'm a mum of a kid on the spectrum.
- 2:49He always does this in front of lights.
- 2:51And I'll explain why they do that in a minute.
- 2:53And I have never seen the light. I can't see a flicker.
- 2:55I just see it's just a constant light.
- 2:56Now, autistic individuals, you'll see them do this a lot
- 2:59when they're faced with light. And the reason they do this or
- 3:03they even take a pen and do this right is because the phase of
- 3:06the light flickering has intervals.
- 3:08If you think about the light as a wave like this, you've got
- 3:11peaks and troughs, right? So peaks and troughs.
- 3:14And so the peaks and troughs, you're like it's hitting you and
- 3:17there's intervals and it's really annoying because you're
- 3:18like, oh man, it's not consistent.
- 3:20The solid beam of light would be like this, but the peaks and
- 3:22troughs is like this. And so when you flick your hands
- 3:25like this, what you're doing is you're covering up the the peaks
- 3:28and the troughs, making a solid line so that when you're doing
- 3:32this, what what you're actually doing is just blocking the light
- 3:35to being solid, right? And so you're out of phasing or
- 3:39counter phasing that flicker. So that's just a solid beam of
- 3:42light. And that is so interesting.
- 3:45It's fascinating. And so people will say it's the
- 3:47stemming. And so we get used to this and
- 3:49it becomes like something that's common and repetitive, we'll
- 3:51just do every now and then, but that's what it's for.
- 3:53We're trying to normalize the light.
- 3:55So it's a solid beam of light. Guys, if you are interested in
- 3:58knowing how I became confident, got that BDE energy, and then
- 4:02make sure you download my free autism building a Bulletproof
- 4:06Brain Starter kit. You can go to
- 4:08bulletproofbrain.org right now. Click the card here, link in the
- 4:12description or in the bio, or you can just go to
- 4:15bulletproofbrain.org. Make sure you've got
- 4:16www.beforeit and download the free checklist starter kit right
- 4:21now. I promise you, you're going to
- 4:23be. Amazed.
- 4:23Now the other thing I said those two things that were saying
- 4:25people do not number one, light flickering 100% we almost all of
- 4:30us can see. If you don't see the light
- 4:31fucking, you have to drop me a comment down below.
- 4:33The second thing there are assisting individuals do is
- 4:36restless like syndrome. So people, people who like just
- 4:39have their leg and they're like constantly just shaking their
- 4:41leg. And you see this alternative
- 4:42people just shaking their leg and you can sit on a bench and
- 4:45the whole bench is shaking because the person's shaking
- 4:47their leg, right? And this is called restless like
- 4:48syndrome. Now it's a form of stimming or
- 4:52self stimulatory behaviour. Also, stimming stands for and
- 4:55self stimulatory behaviour. It's basically a way of you to
- 4:59self regulate, which means a way for you to do something that you
- 5:02can feel calm by doing something repetitive.
- 5:06Some people like rock to sleep or rub your toes together or
- 5:09whatever because those things it's like a repetitive movement
- 5:12like rock a baby to sleep. It's like repetitive and the
- 5:14baby feels comfortable. So it's the same type of thing.
- 5:16We are feeling overwhelmed or, or or distant in reality.
- 5:20So we do that thing to make us feel comfortable and the
- 5:22repetitiveness of it makes us feel comfortable.
- 5:24Now this restless leg syndrome and the light flicker, it's
- 5:28either one or the other. Now you have to drop in a comet.
- 5:30Is it light flick or is it restless leg syndrome?
- 5:32Or do you have both? Because you can't have both.
- 5:34I'm not saying that you don't have one or the other.
- 5:36I'm saying that you can't have both, but I'm pretty sure you
- 5:39will have either one or both of these.
- 5:41Now drop in the comment down below.
- 5:42I read every single one. Guys, I wasn't always this
- 5:45confident and I definitely wasn't always this able.
- 5:47I'm able to hold down having a full time self-employed job.
- 5:50I have children and a relationship across the
- 5:53Atlantic. How did I do this?
- 5:54I teach you all of this in Coping Secrets, which is.
- 5:57My entry. Level program that everyone can
- 5:59get. You can get it right now for
- 6:00$27.00. The link is in the description,
- 6:02or you can just go to learnautism.net/coping Secrets.
- 6:07I'll make sure that it's linked everywhere in this video and the
- 6:10link in my bio so you can get your hands on it.
- 6:12But honestly, the feedback I got people.
- 6:13Love it.
