- 0:01Speaker 1: I don't want to be rude.
- 0:01Speaker 2: I don't want to cause drama. I just want to
- 0:03Speaker 2: let this person know. I understand this sort of content
- 0:06Speaker 2: brings in views, but it's just not worth it. You
- 0:10Speaker 2: can do other things. And I want to say it
- 0:14Speaker 2: in a way that really makes them understand. Like that
- 0:17Speaker 2: just makes him like empathize with why it's wrong. Are
- 0:22Speaker 2: people running out of content? This is your content now
- 0:27Speaker 2: reacting to a tweet for 20 minutes.
- 0:37Speaker 3: That's right, content. Because playing video games for five hours
- 0:42Speaker 3: while making minimal commentary is now considered content. If you
- 0:46Speaker 3: guys want to understand how easy it was to find
- 0:49Speaker 3: that literal 35-second clip of Pokimane eating and texting on
- 0:53Speaker 3: her phone during the stream instead of providing actual content,
- 0:57Speaker 3: then go onto any of her streams, click a random
- 1:00Speaker 3: part of the video, and a good 25-50% of the time,
- 1:03Speaker 3: you're going to find dead air.
- 1:06Speaker 2: The key aspect to live streaming is that it's live.
- 1:10Speaker 2: And just like live radio, as the saying goes, you
- 1:13Speaker 2: don't want any dead air. Honestly, you don't even want
- 1:16Speaker 2: like 10 seconds to go by without you actively saying
- 1:19Speaker 2: or showing something to the people that are watching.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Now she justifies this by saying, well, I'm a big
- 1:26Speaker 3: streamer so I can provide no content and still be successful. No,
- 1:31Speaker 3: that's not how content creation works. That's not how any
- 1:34Speaker 3: business works. Imagine if you went to Amazon.com when they
- 1:38Speaker 3: started the business, and they were super careful to ensure
- 1:41Speaker 3: the items that you ordered were delivered to you. But
- 1:44Speaker 3: now that they are big, they can just say fuck it,
- 1:47Speaker 3: and 25% of the time, your item never shows up.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Do you think that Amazon would still be in business? No,
- 1:55Speaker 3: because people aren't getting what they came for. Taking away
- 1:58Speaker 3: the product just because you got big is a great
- 2:01Speaker 3: way to go broke. But that's not happening to Pokimane.
- 2:04Speaker 3: In fact, If you go onto YouTube and look at
- 2:06Speaker 3: her videos from when she was a new streamer, like
- 2:09Speaker 3: this Overwatch video, then you will find that she was
- 2:12Speaker 3: basically doing the exact same thing she is doing now.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Let's compare that to other content creators who also play
- 2:19Speaker 3: video games, like Game Grumps.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Kevin, put this picture up. Holy shit.
- 2:24Speaker 4: Sharkman Frank.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Oh, it's a pirate's life for me. It's spelled F-E-R.
- 2:30Speaker 1: And like, so Brian and I kept playing the song.
- 2:32Speaker 1: By the way, All of his songs are up on YouTube.
- 2:36Speaker 1: And Brian was like, do you want to know how
- 2:38Speaker 1: many views this song has? And I was like, I
- 2:40Speaker 1: don't know. He's like, one.
- 2:43Speaker 2: One view.
- 2:44Speaker 1: And I'm not even kidding.
- 2:47Speaker 3: That's what actual content sounds like. And if you want
- 2:50Speaker 3: to say something like, well, Gang Grumps only does 10-minute videos,
- 2:55Speaker 3: then keep in mind that they do all these videos back-to-back,
- 2:59Speaker 3: four hours straight, and still do not leave long pauses
- 3:03Speaker 3: of dead air or boring reactions. So you have to
- 3:06Speaker 3: think that if these Twitch streamers can still produce money
- 3:09Speaker 3: without providing actual content, then what are they providing? It
- 3:14Speaker 3: could be their brains, right? After all, these Twitch girls
- 3:17Speaker 3: have such fantastic personalities.
- 3:23Speaker 4: You what?
- 3:24Speaker 1: Oh my god! Treats for the doggo and the cat
- 3:26Speaker 1: on me.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Oh my god, I'll do it just for you. Just
- 3:29Speaker 3: for you.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Hey, kitty, you are being rewarded.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Get the fuck off the counter!
- 3:37Speaker 3: Animal abuse aside, millions of people do not sign up
- 3:40Speaker 3: for a service just to get nothing. So if you
- 3:43Speaker 3: aren't skilled at a game and you aren't good at
- 3:45Speaker 3: actual content production, then the reason people are watching you
- 3:49Speaker 3: is because you are attractive. The reason that Pokimane has
- 3:52Speaker 3: all those guys watching and donating to her is because
- 3:55Speaker 3: they are pretending that she is their kawaii anime girlfriend.
- 4:00Speaker 3: I think that this comment on the It's a Gundam
- 4:03Speaker 3: video that started the Pokimane drama says it best. These
- 4:06Speaker 3: girls monetized the friend zone. I mean, hell, if a
- 4:11Speaker 3: guy in Japan is willing to marry his anime doll,
- 4:14Speaker 3: then of course tons of lonely men will donate fives, tens,
- 4:18Speaker 3: or even hundreds of dollars just so that their favorite
- 4:21Speaker 3: twitch waifu Pokimane will read their comment. And Pokimane knows
- 4:25Speaker 3: that's the case. Seriously. Why do women still do porn
- 4:29Speaker 3: when they can just stream on Twitch? You probably make
- 4:32Speaker 3: more money on Twitch anyway with a longer career, and
- 4:36Speaker 3: you don't have to get naked. That being said, Pokimane
- 4:39Speaker 3: still tries to hide this fact from other people.
- 4:42Speaker 2: I know there's going to be so many people in
- 4:44Speaker 2: the comments saying, trying to say stuff like, how to
- 4:47Speaker 2: be successful on Twitch. Step number one, be a girl.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Step number two, profit. And although I don't think anyone's
- 4:56Speaker 2: success should be minimized to just their gender. I do
- 5:00Speaker 2: want to point out a learning lesson in comments like those.
- 5:04Speaker 2: So because girls are kind of a minority in gaming,
- 5:07Speaker 2: or at least they were a lot more when I
- 5:09Speaker 2: first started than they are nowadays, when you would start
- 5:12Speaker 2: off streaming as a girl, it was kind of like
- 5:14Speaker 2: built-in branding.
- 5:15Speaker 3: You were different.
- 5:16Speaker 2: You stood out. And that's really, really good in this space.
- 5:20Speaker 2: You need to stand out in order for people to
- 5:22Speaker 2: want to click on your channel over other channels.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Really, Poki? Look at a list of all the top
- 5:28Speaker 3: female Twitch streamers. Do you think it's a coincidence that
- 5:32Speaker 3: none of them are ugly? How about this girl? She
- 5:35Speaker 3: got $ 120, 000 for dancing to a YouTube video of a game.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Did she get that because she was being unique? Or
- 5:43Speaker 3: did she get it because she was showing her body?
- 5:45Speaker 5: Please.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Women on Twitch by large are not becoming successful streamers
- 5:50Speaker 3: because they are talented content producers. They are popular because
- 5:53Speaker 3: they took a website that was supposed to be about
- 5:55Speaker 3: gaming and turned it into a camgirl website. If Pokimane
- 5:59Speaker 3: wanted to be valued for her brain, then she would
- 6:02Speaker 3: have stayed in engineering school or at least worked on
- 6:04Speaker 3: some entertainment skills. As innocent as she portrays herself, she
- 6:09Speaker 3: knows what's up. Why do you think you almost never
- 6:12Speaker 3: see her without makeup? Why do you think it's impossible
- 6:15Speaker 3: to find out who she's dating? Do you guys honestly
- 6:18Speaker 3: believe that Pokimane is a 24-year-old fem-cell virgin who never
- 6:23Speaker 3: spends any time with guys? Of course not. She hides it.
- 6:27Speaker 3: She knows that if she reveals that she has a boyfriend,
- 6:30Speaker 3: then she will lose a ton of her following like
- 6:33Speaker 3: the OK Boomer girl did. However, the real giveaway to
- 6:36Speaker 3: the nature of Pokimane's content is the ASMR. If you want,
- 6:41Speaker 3: you can have your favorite waifu whisper in your ear
- 6:44Speaker 3: while you look at porn. Look, she even has those
- 6:47Speaker 3: ear things that they use in ASMR porn. How is
- 6:50Speaker 3: this not sexual? How is this not the same thing
- 6:54Speaker 3: as this? People will tell you why you're valuable, especially
- 7:08Speaker 3: on YouTube. If you have a bunch of guys spamming
- 7:10Speaker 3: the word THICC every time they see a shot of
- 7:13Speaker 3: your ass in yoga pants when you walk out of
- 7:14Speaker 3: the room, then you know why they are there. But,
- 7:18Speaker 3: before I go any further, I must spend some time
- 7:21Speaker 3: defending my queen Pokey, because there have been some things
- 7:24Speaker 3: that she was attacked for that were kind of unfair,
- 7:27Speaker 3: and on this channel, everyone has a chance to defend themselves.
- 7:32Speaker 3: So last year, there was some Twitter drama over video
- 7:35Speaker 3: with Pokimane and Keemstar. Someone took the videos of that
- 7:38Speaker 3: drama and uploaded them back to back without any edits
- 7:42Speaker 3: onto YouTube. Pokimane issued a takedown notice or a copyright
- 7:46Speaker 3: strike for copyright infringement. Personally, I'm not a lawyer, so
- 7:50Speaker 3: I don't know if putting the clips of the Pokimane
- 7:52Speaker 3: and Keemstar drama together counts as transformative or not, but
- 7:55Speaker 3: she may have been within her right to take that
- 7:57Speaker 3: video down. There was also similar drama with Pokimane and
- 8:01Speaker 3: a YouTuber known as DavSeb. DavSeb was uploading Pokimane's content
- 8:05Speaker 3: to his YouTube channel without any edits or commentary. She
- 8:09Speaker 3: was definitely within her right to remove those videos. People
- 8:13Speaker 3: said that she bullied DavSeb by showing his Instagram account
- 8:16Speaker 3: on stream, but he makes that account publicly available on
- 8:19Speaker 3: his YouTube channel and she didn't say anything bad about it.
- 8:23Speaker 3: So these things sound like they're not really a big deal.
- 8:26Speaker 3: But that doesn't mean that Pokimane is absolved of all
- 8:28Speaker 3: of her sins, because she did do something that was
- 8:31Speaker 3: really bad in the past month, and it's getting worse. Recently,
- 8:35Speaker 3: It's a Gundam made a video on some Twitter memes
- 8:38Speaker 3: involving Pokimane and her followers. The big eye-catcher was that
- 8:42Speaker 3: one of the posts said that a guy went homeless
- 8:45Speaker 3: so that he could donate to Pokimane. Pokimane did a
- 8:47Speaker 3: reaction to this video during a stream, and in defense
- 8:51Speaker 3: of her again, she debunked the video from It's a Gundam.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Pokimane Ben Shapiro-style destroyed It's a Gundam by showing with
- 8:58Speaker 3: evidence that the tweets were fake and were just a joke.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Wait, this is actually really, really, really disingenuous. I think
- 9:08Speaker 2: the main reason he's blocking out the person's name is
- 9:13Speaker 2: because in the very tweet, he says, I don't, he says,
- 9:18Speaker 2: it's a joke. He has literally said, it's a joke.
- 9:22Speaker 2: May 6th, May 13th.
- 9:26Speaker 3: She got him, which surprised me because usually female streamers
- 9:30Speaker 3: have no comebacks. But to the credit of It's a Gundam,
- 9:33Speaker 3: he immediately admitted that he was wrong.
- 9:36Speaker 4: Pokimane got mad at me and decided to cancel me
- 9:38Speaker 4: in the absolute worst way. I mean, frankly, okay, fine.
- 9:41Speaker 4: So I got some things wrong. Big whoop, it happens, man.
- 9:44Speaker 4: I mean, it's Twitter, and retarded stuff happens on Twitter
- 9:48Speaker 4: all the time.
- 9:49Speaker 3: So you would think that this is a done deal.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Pokimane debunks its Gundam, he admits fault, end of story,
- 9:56Speaker 3: everyone's happy. But that's not what happened, because instead... Pokimane
- 10:00Speaker 3: summoned up all the Karen she could muster up, and
- 10:03Speaker 3: said this.
- 10:04Speaker 2: And I will say, for this company to sponsor a
- 10:08Speaker 2: video that's literally 20 minutes of talking shit about me?
- 10:14Speaker 2: You will never see... Dude, your website's so ass it
- 10:19Speaker 2: won't even load. But if you ever reach out to me,
- 10:24Speaker 2: if I ever see you in my inbox, on site.
- 10:29Speaker 2: On fucking site. Like, no company should do that just
- 10:36Speaker 2: about ever.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Going after someone's source of income is an extreme foul
- 10:41Speaker 3: play in the content creation business. That is basically saying...
- 10:45Speaker 3: I don't like what you have to say, so I'm
- 10:47Speaker 3: going to make sure that you can't pay your bills.
- 10:50Speaker 3: She spends this whole video talking about how it's okay
- 10:53Speaker 3: to criticize her, but don't criticize her fans. However, she's
- 10:57Speaker 3: clearly mad that she was criticized.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Oh, uh, is this a video where some random dude
- 11:03Speaker 2: behind a VR machine calls a girl a thot for
- 11:05Speaker 2: 20 minutes? Really want to put my logo on that one!
- 11:10Speaker 1: Ha ha ha!
- 11:12Speaker 3: If she wasn't mad about being called a name... then
- 11:15Speaker 3: she wouldn't have spent more than 30 minutes talking about it,
- 11:18Speaker 3: and she wouldn't have gone after a sponsor. Now Ridge
- 11:21Speaker 3: Wallet isn't the sponsor that dropped It's a Gundam, but
- 11:24Speaker 3: Pokimane said that she wouldn't promote any product that sponsored him.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Right after she said that, It's a Gundam was dropped
- 11:30Speaker 3: from a very big ad campaign for a gaming company
- 11:33Speaker 3: that supposedly everyone would recognize, presumably because they also sponsored
- 11:38Speaker 3: Pokimane and did not want to lose her. Pokimane spent
- 11:41Speaker 3: quite a bit of her time talking about the immorality
- 11:44Speaker 3: of It's a Gundam making that video, but she fails
- 11:47Speaker 3: to take note of all the things that she did
- 11:49Speaker 3: that were immoral. Tell me how her response to It's
- 11:52Speaker 3: a Gundam is not the exact same response that Alinity
- 11:55Speaker 3: gave to PewDiePie.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Stupid Twitch thoughts?
- 11:58Speaker 2: No.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Seriously?
- 12:00Speaker 2: He just said that? I'm gonna copy strike this guy.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Just for that word.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Gonna copy strike him.
- 12:10Speaker 5: Yo!
- 12:12Speaker 2: Can we copy Strike PewDiePie's latest video, like right now?
- 12:17Speaker 3: Not only that, but also like Alinity, Pokimane is perfectly
- 12:21Speaker 3: fine with Twitch double standards. Both of them have shown
- 12:24Speaker 3: nudity while streaming, which is against the rules, and neither
- 12:28Speaker 3: of them were punished for it, something that would have
- 12:30Speaker 3: gotten anyone else a suspension. They won't punish Pokimane because
- 12:34Speaker 3: she is a top streamer and they'll lose money if
- 12:36Speaker 3: they do. So it's rules for thee and not for me.
- 12:40Speaker 3: There is even a witness testimony of that. Here is
- 12:43Speaker 3: Ethan Klein talking about an event where Joey Salads got
- 12:46Speaker 3: banned on Twitch for streaming the exact same thing that
- 12:49Speaker 3: Ethan streamed.
- 12:50Speaker 5: And I later spoke on the phone to my contact there,
- 12:54Speaker 5: and he said, and I quote, that we give special
- 12:58Speaker 5: treatment to our partners, to our big partners. Well, we
- 13:02Speaker 5: take care of you.
- 13:04Speaker 3: Not that this wasn't completely obvious. Twitch is so bad
- 13:07Speaker 3: with favoritism that Alinity had to beg to be banned
- 13:10Speaker 3: after showing her boob just so that she wouldn't look bad.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Now if you want to talk about morality, then morality
- 13:16Speaker 3: is what you do during your worst times or when
- 13:19Speaker 3: you are under stress. Morality is what you do when
- 13:22Speaker 3: you have power or even when you are in a
- 13:24Speaker 3: place where no one can see that you have done
- 13:26Speaker 3: something wrong. So what have we learned about Pokimane when
- 13:30Speaker 3: she is under stress because she got criticized? She will
- 13:33Speaker 3: go full Karen and attack your source of income. What
- 13:37Speaker 3: have we learned about Pokimane when she's in a position
- 13:39Speaker 3: of power? Well, she is perfectly fine with getting special
- 13:43Speaker 3: exceptions to the rules. Not only that, but she will
- 13:47Speaker 3: use that power and special protection to destroy anyone who
- 13:51Speaker 3: tries to criticize her by doing things like rallying her
- 13:54Speaker 3: fans to mass attack content creators that she doesn't like.
- 13:57Speaker 3: It's been a month, but the It's a Gundam scandal
- 13:59Speaker 3: is not over. Not only has she not apologized for
- 14:03Speaker 3: her actions despite tons of backlash, But she has continued
- 14:06Speaker 3: the attack.
- 14:07Speaker 4: So, I was told my Twitch page was down. Went
- 14:09Speaker 4: and checked it was. Checked my emails, and this is
- 14:11Speaker 4: what I got. Based on a review of your activity
- 14:13Speaker 4: and content, we issued a community guidelines strike on your account.
- 14:16Speaker 4: Most likely, it was Pokimane Stamps reporting me again, like
- 14:19Speaker 4: they did the first day that she told everyone to
- 14:21Speaker 4: mass flag me. You know, that's targeted harassment, I'm pretty sure.
- 14:26Speaker 4: But it seems like Pokimane didn't get a ban or
- 14:28Speaker 4: even a warning. I wonder why.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 14:32Speaker 4: Weird, am I right? You know what else happened? People
- 14:35Speaker 4: tried to figure out where I lived and where my
- 14:37Speaker 4: family members lived. Hmm, that seems like targeted harassment to me, Twitch.
- 14:42Speaker 4: But you know what? I'm the bad guy here. This
- 14:45Speaker 4: is all my fault. Pokimane has Twitch clips of her
- 14:50Speaker 4: rallying her fans to come after me. And she didn't
- 14:53Speaker 4: get suspended.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Just in the last week, It's a Gundam got a
- 14:57Speaker 3: 7-day ban on Twitch for something that he didn't do
- 15:01Speaker 3: while Pokimane spends 30 minutes on her stream basically telling
- 15:05Speaker 3: her followers to harass him, and then asking them to
- 15:08Speaker 3: give her tips on how to harass him. But that's
- 15:11Speaker 3: not all. As of June 17th, apparently all of the
- 15:15Speaker 3: content on It's a Gundam's Twitch channel has been removed,
- 15:18Speaker 3: and from the looks of it, the content still has
- 15:20Speaker 3: not been restored. Pokimane is all about giving positive platitudes
- 15:24Speaker 3: on how we should all be kind. Well, how about this?
- 15:29Speaker 3: She has 5 million Twitch followers and 5 million YouTube followers.
- 15:33Speaker 3: She knows that any sort of disgruntled behavior towards her
- 15:37Speaker 3: will cause people to white knight and mass attack whoever
- 15:40Speaker 3: she doesn't like. And she shows those people that it's
- 15:43Speaker 3: a good idea to attack other people that she doesn't
- 15:46Speaker 3: like by modeling that behavior on her stream. Think of
- 15:50Speaker 3: it this way. If it were the case that things
- 15:53Speaker 3: just kind of got out of hand and she didn't
- 15:55Speaker 3: expect people to respond that way, then she could have
- 15:58Speaker 3: made a video telling her fans to stop and she
- 16:01Speaker 3: could have contacted Twitch to tell them to remove the
- 16:03Speaker 3: ban and restore his content. You don't think she can
- 16:06Speaker 3: do that? She is one of Twitch's top 10 streamers.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Of course she can talk to the staff. Instead, on
- 16:13Speaker 3: June 18th, and I did make sure that this was
- 16:16Speaker 3: a real tweet, she writes this horrendous message where she
- 16:19Speaker 3: states that she doesn't condone going after someone or their
- 16:23Speaker 3: sponsors simply because you disagree or dislike them. However, if
- 16:28Speaker 3: I dislike you and disagree with the information you have spread,
- 16:31Speaker 3: then you shouldn't have sponsors. Did she read this before
- 16:34Speaker 3: she posted it? With that said, though, I feel like
- 16:37Speaker 3: to the viewer that this picture seems a little unclear. Like,
- 16:40Speaker 3: why would Pokimane act in this way? You have to
- 16:44Speaker 3: understand that behaviors have origins, and if we can understand
- 16:48Speaker 3: those origins, then we can stop people from acting that way, or,
- 16:52Speaker 3: at the very least, we can stop the evil in ourselves.
- 16:55Speaker 3: So here is an interview that Pokimane did with Dr. K.,
- 16:59Speaker 3: I'm not going to go over everything because this interview
- 17:01Speaker 3: is three hours long and that's quite a bit to unpack.
- 17:04Speaker 3: So if you want to know more, you can just
- 17:06Speaker 3: watch the interview. Pokimane starts talking about her childhood at
- 17:09Speaker 3: about the one hour point. However, there are two clips
- 17:13Speaker 3: that I did find that were very interesting.
- 17:16Speaker 2: My mom is a teacher and my dad is like
- 17:20Speaker 2: an engineer but also taught at a university at some point.
- 17:23Speaker 2: So they were always like very supportive when it came
- 17:27Speaker 2: to school and that was like You know, like, I
- 17:29Speaker 2: would do well in school. I would get validation from them.
- 17:32Speaker 2: And that was, like, my cycle of happiness, I guess. And, oh,
- 17:38Speaker 2: they were also, like, pretty strict. It's like, oh, you
- 17:44Speaker 2: don't go out late. Like, no boys in the house. Like,
- 17:47Speaker 2: you don't hang out with too many boys. Do this,
- 17:50Speaker 2: you do that. A lot of the stuff that, especially in, like,
- 17:52Speaker 2: high school, my friends would do or could do, I wouldn't.
- 17:57Speaker 3: So there are a couple things to unpack here. First,
- 18:00Speaker 3: we have a heavy need for validation from her parents,
- 18:03Speaker 3: and that ends up being a pretty big theme throughout
- 18:05Speaker 3: the talk. Second, we have really, really restrictive authoritarian parents
- 18:11Speaker 3: who basically force her to stay inside the house, isolated
- 18:14Speaker 3: from all her friends. She mentions later that she had
- 18:17Speaker 3: to sneak out in high school just to go eat
- 18:19Speaker 3: with her friends. That is very abusive. Sheltering your child
- 18:23Speaker 3: by not allowing her to interact with friends or build
- 18:26Speaker 3: an individual identity is child abuse. Also, if she ever
- 18:30Speaker 3: had a boyfriend, then she would have to hide him
- 18:32Speaker 3: from her parents, much like she does with her fans.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Her dad was an engineer, and she studied to be
- 18:38Speaker 3: an engineer before Twitch took off, so basically what you
- 18:41Speaker 3: have here is her parents controlling her entire life and
- 18:45Speaker 3: deciding who she's going to be. That's not parenting. Good
- 18:48Speaker 3: parents facilitate growth, instead of controlling their child's every move.
- 18:53Speaker 3: So when she doesn't live up to her parents' expectations,
- 18:56Speaker 3: she feels bad, and has to hide her failure. This
- 18:59Speaker 3: is why I believe she reacted so violently to It's
- 19:02Speaker 3: a Gundam's criticism. Pokimane has said in multiple videos that
- 19:05Speaker 3: her mom looks her up online and checks what people
- 19:08Speaker 3: say about her. So if she gets exposed as someone
- 19:11Speaker 3: who basically is using her looks to make money, and
- 19:14Speaker 3: not her brain, and her mom sees that, then it
- 19:17Speaker 3: would look really bad. Her parents might remove that validation
- 19:21Speaker 3: that she so desperately craves, so anyone who points out
- 19:24Speaker 3: the nature of what she does... must be destroyed. It's
- 19:28Speaker 3: a Gundam is trying to take away the validation that
- 19:31Speaker 3: Pokimane gets from her mom, so Pokimane cannot allow that criticism.
- 19:36Speaker 3: But it's not just that. This type of parenting style
- 19:39Speaker 3: has side effects that are even worse.
- 19:42Speaker 2: I've literally had very popular people say very rude things
- 19:48Speaker 2: about me, have their viewers harass me and then that
- 19:51Speaker 2: very same evening or next day they dm me being
- 19:55Speaker 2: all nice or asking for help or whatever it is
- 19:58Speaker 2: and that is such a freaking brain boom for me
- 20:01Speaker 2: because like my reflex is like if someone asks me
- 20:06Speaker 2: something i want to respond i want to be nice
- 20:08Speaker 2: i want to like do the right thing. That's what
- 20:11Speaker 2: like I should do. And that's like what I enjoy doing.
- 20:14Speaker 2: But then also having to like calculate, wait, but this,
- 20:17Speaker 2: this person like has no genuine care for me. Like
- 20:22Speaker 2: they just want to say stuff that's going to get
- 20:24Speaker 2: like clipped and shipped or have people laugh at or
- 20:28Speaker 2: ridicule me or whatever it is. Like they want their
- 20:30Speaker 2: cake and they want to eat it too. But actually
- 20:32Speaker 2: that brings me to the other point of like kind
- 20:36Speaker 2: of being jaded or feeling bad because even though I
- 20:40Speaker 2: have a lot of like good friends on Twitch, I
- 20:44Speaker 2: never ever feel like anyone would risk standing up for
- 20:49Speaker 2: me because it could be bad for business.
- 20:52Speaker 3: And there we see how immoral behavior leads to misery.
- 20:56Speaker 3: You don't get away with anything. You're going to lie
- 20:59Speaker 3: to everyone and attack people who criticize you? Okay, well
- 21:02Speaker 3: now you don't have any real friends. She learned so
- 21:05Speaker 3: well how to hide her feelings from her parents that
- 21:08Speaker 3: now she does it with everyone. When you fake your
- 21:11Speaker 3: feelings or your personality and lie about who you are,
- 21:15Speaker 3: you don't make strong connections with other people. You don't
- 21:18Speaker 3: project a personality that other people would be willing to
- 21:21Speaker 3: stand up for or help. If you are trying to
- 21:24Speaker 3: make close connections with other people, then it's very important
- 21:27Speaker 3: that you reveal who you are, and Pokimane can't do
- 21:30Speaker 3: that because she is too busy trying to cover it
- 21:32Speaker 3: all up so that her parents aren't offended. There are
- 21:36Speaker 3: consequences to that. Plus, she is pretending to like people
- 21:39Speaker 3: who she hates, which invites those people in. If you
- 21:43Speaker 3: want good friends, you can't do that. You need to
- 21:46Speaker 3: vet out the people who suck and pick people who
- 21:48Speaker 3: are desirable enough to make you want to help them
- 21:51Speaker 3: when they are in trouble. And on your side, you
- 21:54Speaker 3: need to actually be the kind of person who is
- 21:56Speaker 3: worth helping. but she isn't doing that, therefore she gets
- 21:59Speaker 3: shitty friends, and this is the reason why you have
- 22:02Speaker 3: to explore these ideas in your own psyche. If you don't,
- 22:06Speaker 3: then you'll feel completely empty, no matter how well off
- 22:09Speaker 3: you are. And, with that said, I think that will
- 22:12Speaker 3: be enough for this video. So if you liked it,
