That's that's that's I like that. That perked me right up. It's true. I take you and I feel better. I'm full of d drugs, but they're all prescribed. I think Brent is full of drugs, and I think Nate is full of drugs. I'm on a more self prescribed sort of situation, but whatever. You know. You're of the earth. I'm of the earth. how are you feeling, Brent? How are your drug use how's your drugs? good. I just I just I used our online service to order more yesterday. You went to pills.com and collected extra pills? It was really easy too. It was surprisingly easy. Maybe too easy. It was like I like she didn't even know that I took that before. just said, okay. What she said, how much and How much do you take and how many times a day? I told her. Boom. Canada's different than America. She put a little bit of it on the end of a knife and held it up to your nose for you to try before you took it home. Did she put it on some aluminum foil and heat it up for you? I don't think my opiate prescription for my life altering foot condition is a is a is a laughing matter. That's fair. Yeah, no, I do. It's I think we gotta laugh to keep ourselves from crying. That's right. You just nailed it, brother. You just fucking nailed it. I want to do before we do what's happening, I wanna do a little PSA that we the North American Friends Movie Club is now on Facebook. And then if you have a critique, you could put the critique in the narrative form. But it's important that you give us five stars because you listen and that's how you pay for us, is by giving us five stars. And then the critique can come later. Yeah. I like that. A little bit a little bit of column A, a little column B. So That's the homework that the audience has that all our listener has that we don't ask for much. I'm gonna be asking every episode that you follow our socials and interact with our socials. It's time. It's time. So it's it's a pass failed class. So you can pass. Get your grades and pass. What's that saying? Ash, cast, or grass, nobody rides for free. That's what we're installing from now on. Yeah. I like that. Yeah. I'm surprised actually. That seems like the kind of thing you usually wouldn't like. So we have it well, be we haven't and I'm specifically looking for shirtless photos to be sent to North American Friends Movie Club at gmail dot com. Know the Yes. And that is the ass part of ass grass. Okay. Sure. I'll take the grass. I've one of the grass. I'm not looking for women's Topless. I'm looking for men's top. don't worry. Extra points. Don't worry, Kate. There's no weapon listening. Extra points for Harry Chests. So looking at you, Nick. Looking at you, Nick. Nick. Nick Just before also before we get to what's happening, I was Nick's latest Facebook post. I probably less than two hours ago, I was I liked it before Kate did. Yeah, got in there while she was working. Yep, and it was an important one too. Nick thinks that's the funniest thing that you've ever said on this podcast. Yeah. Like out of bromance. And it really aligns with how I speak about you in general in everyday life. Like you are a wonderful brush. Accurate to the character. Like it's definitely good writing. You're authentic. That's right. so Kay, we want to know what's happening. You guys, I Wanna tell you what's been happening. And the first thing is I now I don't think many of us are into astrological things. do you guys believe in palm reading? What's the green thing behind you on your your black some sort of vacuum. Some sort of stick vacuum. It looks like the Grinch hole in the whip. That from the back. yeah. He's like he's on the sle sleigh and he's heading down Mount Crumpet. Yep, that's right. It's just me and Brent's got great imaginations. Anyways, what's been happening? Astrological things. Hand reading. I don't believe in that. I don't personally believe in that. Okay. Well, I think there might be something that we should get into. And I learned about it recently because Sylvester Stallone's mother is into it. It's called rhymes. Brandon, I was trying to make the same joke. I'm like, what's the lady version name of Sylvester? And I just couldn't. It is. Her name is Jackie. Why do you know Jackie Stallone? Jackie Stallone. I'm pretty sure. Some people bang their head really badly. Jackie Stallone. Yeah, some people bang their head and get knocked out and have to go to the hospital in an ambulance and then they wake up and they can speak Chinese. Yeah. I learned about Jackie. Did the first part of that? So she She left this earth, this mortal coil, when she was 99 years old in the year 2020. Rest in power. And she ascribed, she's an she was an astrologer that also ascribed to the study of rhompology. Which is. Do you know what rhompology is? Which is it is what you think it is. It is the study of the shape of buttocks as a way to tell someone about themselves. no. That's That's of all the places I would want someone to start learning about me, the rump is the last place I would want them to start learning from me. Me too. It's the worst part of me. I would that's where we start, right? That's where I would I always like, yeah, go ahead, read it. Okay. So I'll start with Nate and I because I think we have similar buttocks, like more flat, probably more square. So my My fullness is like in weird places. do you have any fullness, Nate? I have like imagine a normal butt and then just shrink it in half. I have like a half butt. So it's still round and circular, but it's just so small. It's just such a small butt. I and I know this for a fact because my where the way my bathroom is set up is when I'm peeing, only my butt Is in the mirror, so I if I look to my right, I can really investigate my own butt. And so I have noticed that my butt is getting bigger from working out, but it's still so small. It's one of the smallest butts on earth. Where it like if you're looking at from behind, do you have any fullness? I'm like two like two tennis balls basically. I got a two tennis ball butt. Okay. So you so you would say yours is round? I would say it's it's it's a little bit round, but it's just so small. Yeah, it's just it's it's but it is round. Yeah. Okay. now this is saying that you're open, honest, and sincere. I'd say that's correct. Okay, Brent, now describe your buttocks. really good. It's got a good shape, it's significant. No, no, no. I need like Well like it's she's she's not asking she wants she wants detail. She doesn't want to know about how great it is. Like if we're looking at a few from behind, like is the fullness at the middle like above your butt crack, below your butt crack? Is it like your hip area? It's is it like both your hip and butt crack? Like elephants full? The fullness would be right. Admittedly, I think Where the hole is. So the fullness extends out from there. Yeah. So that would be an upside down heart shape. And that would say that you're emotional, sensitive, and helpful, which you are. Yeah, you are. we might be on to something here, guys. No, no. We might be on to something. Okay. And I have a square butt, and that means I'm confident, smart, and career driven. You are confident, smart, and career driven. You did it. You guys you've invented so many different dives. Jackie Stallone. Jackie Stallone knew what she was doing. There's a reason she lived dying and she pure heart. There's not much information on the internet about rhompology. So if anyone finds a book. Yeah, if anyone has any literature. I would also like to apologize probably to my extended family that I shared on Facebook that we do this podcast, and they're probably gonna listen to this first episode that comes out since the sharing, and they're gonna hear me say Extent from the whole loose. But you know, li it's probably better to get it over with quickly, you know? Cold water. Do you wanna do you wanna tell them about Hornegary? Hornegary is a c character I created to say sexual and outlandish things so it wouldn't come from my mouth. It would come from this fictional character named Hornegary. Yeah, it doesn't count. Yeah, it doesn't count. So if you're still here if you're still here after all that, that's the w that's that's as bad as it's gonna get. Yeah, for sure. I should have did the horny garry voice when I described my ass. No, we're doing science. There's no place for that. Yeah. Now, my next thing is I want to have a short discussion about the difference between renovating and painting. So does renovating mean that you're doing kind of like you're it You're changing out permanent structures. To me, renovating involves removal and addition of things in the house. It has to have a saw involved, a a nail, something like that. See, and I think it can it can definitely be part of a renovation, but it can't be the only part to be classified as a renovation. So if you're if you're painting, you're painting. But if you've done any literally like you unscrewed something, that's renovation. Okay. I was I was extremely wrong. So the the definition of a renovation is a process of repairing, updating, or restoring an existing building or structure to improve its condition without changing its original purpose or fundamental layout. So I was wrong. So I'm renovating my living room. You are. Because I'm painting and I'm changing out light fixtures and I'm going to update the furniture and the carpet or the floor or the rug. And I even would add add on top of that, I am still considering myself in renovation, even though I am at the point of renovation where the only thing left to do is paint. But I'm like I'm still in the process of renovation. Currently renovating. Yeah. Currently renovating. Do you have that on your I what's the green thing on the butt behind you again? I forget. I got lost in the sauce. It's a vacuum. It's okay. Kate's vacuum looks like it's distracting Brent. The vacuum looks like the Grinch standing on a mountain holding a whip looking down. Yeah, it does. You don't have to move it because I know what it is now. Now I think it looks like the Grinch has a long green penis. And he's riding it. And looks like he has a scarf on it. And it's wrapping around his feet. Yeah. His long penis. His long penis. We don't know what the Grinch has got. wait, we do. He has no pants. he slang it. He's got no pants. Grinch is slinging it. We know. His small heart went to his penis. And then as his heart grew, his penis shrank. tough. It's Grinch signs. Grinch science. Grinch G S is my favorite subject. Grinch science. So I go I try so I I buy my paint and stuff at Home Depot. I go to the big mega stores, but I try to buy all my small stuff at a locally owned hardware store called Waldo Hardware. And I love it. And I love that they're like kind of familiar with me and it smells so good. And I think that part of my heaven would be like a hardware store. Absolutely. When I think of the apocalypse, I think about free reign in all the tool stores. Like like Home Depot with nobody there and I can just take whatever I want. Like ho ho ho ho ho Where would you go first? The tool aisle? There's no electricity though, Nate. No, you don't use your electric tools. I well luckily I've just wait till my section because I've got some exciting news. I saw your yeah freaking I got some exciting news. We'll get there. Well, I just wanted to mention that hardware stores smell so good. And I don't like that I smell it immediately and then it goes away and I can't smell it the entire time. I get nose blind immediately. Yeah. You want to keep the yep. I I totally were completely aligned on this one, Kate. I would, I am actually surprised our butts aren't similar. Yeah, me too, actually. Me too. I see as a as a good butthaver, I don't know what they smell like. So that's another fundamental difference. I can't have sort of hardware. So what about like beaver lumber? You smell you know what beaver lumber smells like, right? We don't we don't have beaver lumber in the butt story. Neither do we anymore. Do you not have hardware stores? Yeah, I have home hardware, I have home depot, I have Kent. I got all the big boys. Can they entire? I just don't know what it smells like. I can't picture it. Lumber. Maybe I'll next time. Next time, spruce, pine, and fir. Yes. Yeah. That's exactly Yeah. Exactly. See? Nate would know the exact SPF? Yeah, I know about SPF. Okay. I wanted to so cancer is something that a lot of people get. And I wanted to share some information. my dear friend Jenna Fouraker. Her nickname is Turdsky, but that if you Google Turtsky, that's not gonna come up. that's terrible. That's I think it's I like it is to me the most endearing. Like I like it. She's about Turdsky. Anyway. she wrote a book, a workbook, and it's called Recentering After Cancer Workbook. The Journey Inward, an essential blend of humor, evidence-based therapy, and lived experience. So she's a clinician and she also has had breast cancer. And I want to just read a little bit of this to you about Jenna because I really like it. When she is not in session, you can find her living deliberately a deliberately peaceful life on a lake with her husband, their one-eyed chihuahua, and a cat who runs the household, usually deep in one of her many eclectic hobbies. She's equal parts, inner harmony, and no tolerance for nonsense, which she considers perfectly reasonable combination. A breast cancer diagnosis rerouted her life, and her first year in remission was the hardest. The skills, frameworks, and honest conversations in this workbook are the ones that brought her back to herself. She is not here to tell you cancer was a gift. So if you have someone that has cancer, this would be a lovely gift for them. And all you have to do is go to the website, which is recent and it's also on Amazon, Recentering After Cancer workbook by Jenna Foraker. So I just wanted to give her a little shout out. Good job, Tertsky. Congratulations. Tursky on the publication and on the more important, beating breast cancer. Absolutely. Okay, last thing, I'm calling our whole community. My daughter's in sixth grade. I don't know if you remember sixth grade. My sixth grade year was the worst. I hated sixth grade. I got bullied so much. I feel like I've told the story where Girls went to a party and they had the Ouija board out and the Ouija board told them that I was gay. And so then at school they posted pictures of girls in bikinis on my locker. Got your ass. Not cool. They got the the spirits got your ass, basically. Basically. Got absolutely roasted by ghosted. Also, I find the spirits to be bigots. Yeah. And anti they're not allies. They are not. You should able to fight them. If they can talk shit about you, you should be able to fight them. Yeah. And so Julia is in the sixth grade and she's not she is getting slightly bullied, but she handles it way better than I am, but is also having a lot of just sixth grade problems. Mm-hmm. And so I want to send out a call to anyone that has a story about sixth grade to please email us at North American Friends Movie Club at gmail. And that I can share it with Juliet so that she does not feel alone at how hor she hates school. She hates sixth grade. And I just like want to give her a little support. Cause she really liked it when I told her that story about how horrible my sixth grade was. Like it helped her to know that other people's sixth grade was like very bad. So I love the call to action, Kate. You've we've done several call to actions already on this podcast and I'm so here for it. Yeah, it's it's time, folks. I think that's great, Kate. So you better email everybody grade six stories or any bullying stories that happened between grade five, six, and seven. you tell Juliet that I, as a forty four-old Canadian man, think she is one of the funniest people I know, and she's only grade six. That means she's gonna be extremely funny. And the fact that she's doing French in America. C'est bon. And she's taking Mandarin this semester. Listen, I that's exciting to me because I would Love to have a Chinese interpreter on hand. And so you let her know that Canadian Brent thinks she's very cool, very smart for doing what she's doing and extremely funny. Thank you. Do either of you have a story from sixth grade? Or I don't know. Does that I don't know how American school works. So sixth grade is the last year of elementary school in Canada. Is that the case in the United States? It depends on the school district. So some it's still elementary, some it's middle school. Because six was kinda sick 'cause we were king of the castle, you know? Okay. So maybe it's your seventh grade. So your first year in middle school. That's the call to action. Yeah, they used to call me Bobby Hill. Everybody used to call me Bobby Hill 'cause I looked like Bobby Hill and it was accurate. They were totally correct because I did look like Bobby Hill. And I kinda got that bother. I had shaved head. wait, actually I have a picture. You guys are gonna love this. My friend said this to me the other day. I gotta show you this. This is gonna fucking make Bobby Hill is an amazing character though. and I get it you're roasting. Now that I'm older, I'm like I couldn't couldn't be any happier, but I wanna give you a little hug. Don't you wanna hug that guy? Just give him a little snug. You do not look like a happy boy though. No, I you know, I was unhappy to have be having my picture taken, more than unhappy in life. And you got to wear a toque in your photo. That they didn't make you remove it. No, they did not. It wasn't a very I went to art school. It wasn't very strict. I was bullied because I went to a track meet as a scorekeeper and a school didn't show up. So Me and the other scorekeepers had to do all the events and I finished dead last in every single event. But you hadn't been trained. For what? For a track meet? You did all the events? All the running and the throwing and all that and 'cause the school didn't show up. So they we represented that school and I was given the nickname Molasses Murray. Masses Murray. Yeah. Yeah. I finished last in a race once. That was tough. Never fleet of gym teacher game. It's very gym teacher esque. Yeah. Yeah. okay. Well, everybody Well, I don't like that. See, these are depressing. Okay, you're like with what you just asked for is people are gonna tell you some stuff that's really gonna make you sad. No, and that's good. That's good. That's what we want. And also 'cause we're we're what do you call that? You're interceptively regulating. Anyway, like we we need to share these stories and it creates a closer community. So anyway. And you guys, when we're going through hard times, like we gotta lift each other up. So I agree with that. Brothers don't weigh anything. Brothers don't weigh anything. And that's what's been happening. And that's what's what happened. happened. I wore a turquoise hoodie to the wrestling event on Saturday. I don't know why that was just immediately funny. Turquoise hoodie. I my head was the size of a balloon as I walked in because I got I was getting catcalled. My family was blown away. They said, We love that color on you. And this is was separate. Like my niece was the first to see me, she said it. My sister then said it. My dad yelled across the arena, who the fuck dressed you? And I said, This is all me. And he said, You're looking good. And then my mother came up and hugged me and she said, I love that color on you. And know what I responded with. Just be is it's large. But when you look at the the tag inside, it says USA large, Japanese extra large. And I said, It's an extra large in Japan. You couldn't accept the a compliment. I know. I j I I I I froze and said it's a Japanese extra large. Do you have that close by? Can we see it? Or is it downstairs? No. I want to see it. Also, audience, Brent is not wearing a ball cap while recording. He's got his hairs out. He's got all his hairs out today. he's putting it on for us. we're about to get it. I'm excited. We're about to get to it. they were ready. Yeah. They were ready. That's a good. That is not reading turquoise. That is reading for a screen. It's not though. It's turquoise. You can see it. Okay. Yeah, I'm seeing yeah, I'm seeing the blues. And and your family's right. It's her that's your family's right. That's a just a fantastic color on you. Leave it on that makes your face look better. It's a good color for you. Well, that's what good colors do. It makes it brings out the good parts of your face. This is what my point of telling the story is. I am going to Buy more collar from now on. Yes. Except red. I can't wear red. I look. You need to know what your undertone is. So we're either a warm undertone or a cool undertone. Like I have to buy reds that have blue undertone. I can't buy reds that have orange undertones. I can't wear orange. I can't wear like lime or neon green or any of that. Has to be like so my greens have to have blue. And not orange or red under them. So you need to figure that out and that will help you. I think that's what this I think I'm very my greens have to have blue in them because this is too I think you're right. Your greens gotta have blue, bro. I'm going into all the stores and say, listen, I need a Japanese extra large and my it has to have blue in a green. And that's what I'm saying. Which is really an American large is a Canadian medium, is a Japanese extra large. No. wait. You're s cause That would make it An American large That would make No no Yeah. 'Cause the larger it is, the smaller the people. Okay, well I wasn't thinking it meant But you know larger it is the smaller the people. Like because Japanese people are smaller, their extra large is s smaller, you know? Like when I buy tops from Fashion Nova or Timu or something, I buy like a two X. for yeah, it's okay. Like when I buy Chinese clothes, I wouldn't know as much about high fruit oaks corn syrup as we do. I could just picture your you ordering your order from The Chinese place gets messed up and then you get jewels to fight with the customer service people and she just yelling at Mandarin into the phone. Dude, Mandarin is so hard to learn 'cause it's all tonal. And also like the the romance languages have a lot in common. Like so if you know English, you kinda have a head start in French and Italian. Like all the romantic languages have English. The Latin based. Yeah. Yeah. But Chinese, there's there's nothing connecting our two languages. No. second thing, I've been using I've we purchased a water pick with multiple modes on it. I've been thinking about this. Tell me about it. Do we what are those like? I've never used one. I got my gums beat to ratchet. I put that thing in my mouth, I turn that thing on the highest that it can go. And I jam it in there and we're just in for a wet wild ride for the whole time. Yeah. My gums have never been more sensitive and I love it. Okay. So is it on top of brushing? You use it. I use it before I brush. Yeah. I like doing it. I like what I like doing 'cause i you get y at first if you just hold it into like when you said mouth open and you turn it on, you make a mess. All the water goes everywhere. All over the mirror. You gotta put it in your mouth, press the button, stop it, let and then spit. I really like when I spit and I see food in there. Yeah. I would too, no, because it's working. Yeah. It's like seeing it's like seeing results when you're like sanding or scraping stuff, or yeah. It's really good. Okay, so this is why they suggest that when you w have braces. Gotta blast the stuff out of there. Gotcha. I'm a big water pick guy now, big time. I got there's a pulse setting I like at night. I use it at night, the pulse setting, because it's little softer. But in morning we're going and after meals, we're going full, full board. That thing is how many times do you brush your teeth a day? You're like so clean. my god. Nerd. Proud of you, Brent. Proud of you. I d I don't like having things inside my teeth. I don't like It's a big day when I do it twice. Like you really made wedding day. Yeah. Yeah, I always press So this is Juliet has a difficult time because I'm a morning brush brush your teeth in the morning person because you're gonna be seeing people and it's like you're you're you're there with your mouth. Yeah. Right? Non negotiable. My dad is a nighttime brusher. So like he's like, if you're gonna choose one, you gotta do nighttime because you're gonna sleep with all the gunk in your mouth. Mm-hmm. There's no choosing. There's no either or something. Well, of course, like the right way to do it is the way you're doing it, but not everybody is so diligent. Yeah. Not everybody has your dedication. Not everyone can pull off turquoise, Brent. Turquoise, big butt, brushing three times a day. This guy's living. Now, if Nate says he brushes his teeth more than twice a day, I'm absolutely going to feel it. No, two's a good day. Two's a good day. I do a very thorough job in the morning and then I try to remember to do it at night. No. I like I like to brush in the morning and then at night time I'll do mouthwash and I'll and I'll floss. See, I like to pre soak, I like to brush a little bit, floss, and then brush. But I gotta warm I gotta like, you know, soak the dishes like Yeah, it's like the s the soak option in the car wash. Yeah, you gotta wet the car first. Yeah. I that's how I do it. Let's stop saying two things. Let's stop saying two is a good day and let's stop saying if I remember or if I you know sometimes it's the nighttime, you just wanna go to sleep. You don't want sometimes brush your teeth makes you too your mouth too awake. Nope. He needs to s he needs to put his mouth to sleep. Yeah, sometimes my mouth is already asleep. If I wake it up, I'm gonna be up for hours. My mouth is Yeah, let's just stop let's take that out of the hole. That is a good way. If you're getting like cravings, like you're needing you're feeling snacky, a good way to brush your teeth to that is to brush your teeth. Yeah. Because you're not gonna want to eat after your teeth are clean. That doesn't always work. Take it from me. I had an ex girlfriend who agreed with me that brushing your teeth at night makes your mouth too awake. So she would have two toothpaste. You'd have an aggressive adult mint toothpaste for the morning and then a child's toothpaste for nighttime because they have a toothpaste at night to not wake your mouth up too much. Where did she go? She seems like she's got it figured out. She had some kids. She wanted some kids. She knew what she she knew she had to go to a different location for that. Can't get that at this drive store. We don't sell that at this hardware store. You gotta go Home Depot for that. Yeah, so if you're thinking if you're on the fence about being a water pick person, let this conversation show you that person. What a good gift for someone. Yeah, they're not expecting Great gift. You just fill it with water, you charge it like anything else, and you just go at it. forty four year old man I am. I developed a man crush over the weekend. former WWE superstar Eric Rowan, part of the Wyatt family. hung out with them all weekend. how many hours total? Four. Okay. Five. That's a significant. He It's enough time to fall in love. Yep. Six foot eight Norwegian. Six foot eight Norwegian bald man with a two foot long red beard. just we look ridiculous together, just towers over me. I look like a little child next to a movie. Like the movie twins, Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Yeah, and we look like the word it if that makes sense. Yeah, it does. Yeah, it does. Yeah, okay. So we he's he i Out of all the rest cool wrestlers I've met, he's by far the coolest. Jeremy got to he is very down earth and quiet and soft spoken, which is totally opposite of what you would think of a six foot eight Norwegian wrestler. who's very very polite. I like his whole aesthetic, he's into the sheet mask thing. I he's what his gimmick is what got me back into wrestling. When I was out of it for years, when I first saw Jeremy was watching, I What's this? And he should told me. I This is cool as fuck. they were part like of the Southern Southern Colt Leader. Southern, sorry. Southern Colt Leader, and he was part of it, and they wore sheep masks. And anyway. What are sheep masks? Like a sheep sheep mask. Like a sheep. Like we're all sheep. Okay. Sheep. and so he was selling them on the weekends and It made me realize that wrestling a lot of money gets thrown around is exchanged in wrestling. And anyway, drove him home after the show, back to his hotel, and we talked for the whole half hour ride and he was he's seems to me like he's more into acting and writing than he is wrestling at this point. And he made me he inspired me to be more Show more passion and show more time into the more creative side. So that's why we're on Facebook now. We're doing shit. We're making TikToks and reels. I blew the dust off of Dinosaur Inc. and Madawaska. We're gonna shop that around Nate. Let's go. let's fucking go. It's 2026 is the year of creativity, and we're gonna go for it. And I'm gonna start a series where I go to all local restaurants and I film myself eating their food and giving it ratings. I'm posting that. I can't wait to see that content. You can go ahead. Please go ahead and share that on the NAFMC official podcast media tabs. I gotta ask the Brent question. Did you tell him about us? Did I tell him about us? I fucking told him everything about you guys. Yeah, let's tell him that we have a podcast. And it's Nate and Kate. Nate's from Edmonton. Kate's in Missouri. We all met online on Twitter years ago. We never met in person. We have this show. I got I told I got in a fight with Tracy Reiner and DMs. And he and he he was laughing. And he loved it. And I gave him all that stuff to follow. And he told me the stuff that he's doing. He's writing a he wrote a twenty twenty-five minute short and he filmed it in Oregon. And he is a s he starred in it, he's writing in it, and he wanted to tell the side that everyone sees a six foot guy in a movie and they think he's a big bad guy, and he wanted to show this emotional side. I love it. He was really cool. He was super cool. He inspired you. I like him. I really like him. He really lit a fire. He lit a fire to me big time. And I needed it big time. He told me like about the creative process that he goes through. And I'm like, if this guy can fucking do it, why can't I? So yeah, he's cool as fuck. Hell yeah. still last thing I wanna say is I don't think that I think that's it. I think that was it. Gums, beat to ratchet. Yeah, colour shirt and Eric Rowan. And I didn't shoot. Yeah. So check him out. Joseph Rue is his real name. and R U U D and check him his IMDB and all that cool stuff. So shout out Eric Rowan. Nate, give us the weekly report. No, not the weekly report. Yeah, weekly report. Let's do the weekly report. Week, week, week, week, week, week, week, week, week, weekly report. Real week, week, week, week, week, week, week, week, week, weekly report. Weekly report. I've been working so hard. Because my deadline approached quite quickly where my sister returned. I was trying to get everything done before she returned. I f I I failed at that task. Mm-hmm. But I I don't think it's my fault. Every time you try to do something you you always get surprised. There's always surprises when you start to renovate your house where you're like I'll do this and then you do something. You were basically Noah Ark all fucking summer and the flies. Yeah, you had a hard go of it. It was a rough summer, but I only have to paint three more walls and then I'm done. I'm done everything. Except for my bookshelves. Will she be with you the rest of the winter? Yeah, she's home now. She came home last night. and it's good to see you. She's doing well. but in part of my renovations, I'm trying to make wood flat, which is very difficult. Like I I told you guys I'm building built-in bookshelves. I told you guys that I'm doing that. It is very hard to make wood be flat if it's big. Like a small piece of wood making it flat is not that much of a process, but because of the giantness of the wood, everything that I've done It's like I just didn't think this through at all. The wood is too big for my saw. It's too big for my table saw. It's too big for my planer. It's like it's too big for everything. So I have to do everything by hand. And in order to do that, I've been putting this off for like a year. A year ago, I made my sharpening thing. I was like, okay, I have to do it. I learned how to sharpen my hand plane. Wow. And the power that I felt when I put the fresh blade into the planer and ran it across the wood and it carved a thin scroll of paper. I felt like probably what Thanos felt like when he put on that glove in the Avengers. I just felt that's that's how I feel when I sp use the water pick and I spit food in the sink. Yeah, I felt like that. I felt I felt like just because I'm unstoppable now. I Cause I also did it all by hand. Like some people have grinders and they can grind their first angle on the grinder and save a bunch of time. I don't got that. I just have sandpaper on a piece of wood. Damn. You are truly Japanese. I was like Japanese level craftsmanship. The fact that you casually y yelled out that thrown that little story there is basically unstoppable then. Basically unstoppable now. He doesn't need electricity to create beautiful wood features. You're the Irish boy. You're the Irish carpenter guy. I was sharpening my blade. I was planing wood at like 3 a.m. Nobody heard me. It's like, This is a this so quiet. I I'm allowed to like at 3 a.m. I can do woodworking as long as I use hand tools because nobody can hear me. Ninja carpentry. And like because sharpening is like you're like And if nobody heard me doing that, I asked I asked Dale's like, Did you hear He's No, I didn't hear you. I'm like, fuck. Okay, this unlocks new possibilities, especially in the spring, summer, and fall. Does it have to be wet? Do you have to wet the it helps? The stones, yes. So I have I have a bunch of diamond stones, super cheap ones, and you just and a spray bottle and you spray them wet. And then I just also When I had to get the primary bevel. See, I've been learning about bevels. I've been learning about primary bevels and secondary bevels angles. I just sprayed water on some sandpaper and just you know, I don't know. It was Japanese whetst homemade Japanese whetstone. I'm like This is a very Eastern inspired episode. I'm loving it. Cause I and I just didn't understand the concepts and I had to like do it to understand the concepts, but like while you're doing it and it's working is like so satisfying. You can like get the primer bearable and going and then you look at it and you can like see the scratches all the way to the end. You're like, okay, okay. And then when you're polishing the blade, you can like see it get shinier and shinier. Like it's very you put something in and something comes out, which is very rare for earth and life where it's so directly related. You're like, I'm in control of Yes. Nowadays that's not yeah. I don't get that feeling very often. Exactly. Yes. I think you're getting back to a like a centered part of human experience. so I just did all my planers. I have three nice planers that I inherited and I did all of them. And so now they're just hanging on my tool bench. I just take them down and go, shh, shh, shh, shh. it feels so good. if you if listener, if you have never hand planned something. Please go somewhere and do it. Cause it is so satisfying. it feels amazing. And it leaves the wood so nice, like the nicest, softest satiny. Like and that feels good to take like Home Depot lumber that is cracked and weird and twisted and rough. And then you just rub your hand all over it and it's so soft. It's like, this is just great. This is good. Mmm. Dale taught me how to change. The outlets, like power outlets in my room. So I've been slowly upgrading every power outlet that was a old style power outlet. That also felt I felt very like, I've learned a new skill. Like I've I've playing a video game and I added the changing that electricity outlet skill. That is a game changer. Feeling confident doing electrical work is very impressive. You just make sure it's not turned on and then you just that's that's the big part. You just make sure it's not turned off. But you have to know what the what the wires are. Yep. Yep. And that was very nice of Dale. That's an other big part of it. It was nice of Dale to tell me because I think of electricians like Freemasons. Like they kind of have their secrets that they like to keep for themselves. So I felt like he was giving me a little bit of his secret knowledge where he's like, Okay, I'll tell you the secret of the wires. Like, thank you, sir. Secret of the wires. Brent, you're gonna like this. No new recipes this week. But I did invent a new style of cooking that I call slow cooking. And it's and what this is is because I've been so busy, I've been falling behind on certain things like keeping my kitchen clean. So instead of like, for example, I usually cook my hash rounds at six, I've been cooking them at three so that I can like do stuff while they're cooking. And I'm like, I'm really into this right now where I'm like, you double the cooking time. Now you can do some dishes. Now you can sweep the floor. You're not worried about it burning. It's not exactly like a three doesn't cook half as fast as a six. I would say a three cooks like sixty percent or sixty-five percent as fast as a six. But this just extra time I'm like, okay, slow cooking. That's my new smart. Yeah, that's smart. Here's a cooking tip. Mine is boiling water. You never have to turn your stove anything past a four unless your stove is like ancient. I think you're right, Bran. I think I've been I think I've been rushing and it's been causing undue stress because you got you got your hash browns on at a six, there's a danger that's occurring that's always hanging over your head. That thing could get out of control at any moment. Four things, you're never gonna get in trouble at a four. Well, you will Nate, what you did is called doubling up, and it's a productivity technique to help if you wanna if you need to be doing things you're not doing, you need to add it to things you're already doing. So that's what you're doing. Like you're already cooking dinner. So I'm just gonna add cleaning to that time. So boom. Smart. I Didn't read any Dante this week, so failed my D, but I did dance and I did lift weights and I did what are the other ones? Drinking my dairy. Yeah. Dairy. I I did goblin work the other day when I was dancing. Not goblin work, gargoyle work. Yeah. I was first up on the bed with my knees up on my ears, and I was looking down at the dogs and I was doing this to them. Did they like that? No, they hated it. But all this renovating has created a new injury and I would like to be made fun of, I think is what's gonna happen a little bit here. What of what have I had arm harm, I've had back attack, I've had ab stabs, chest unrest. What was the leg one? Quad mod, modulated my quad. I got a wrist twist. I got a wrist twist. And my wrist was hurting so much from all the painting and all the stuff that I actually had to put on this wrist brace. And I've gotta do it. I've been looking like Big Ern McCracken walking around the house with this little wrist thing. It helps though, doesn't it? It makes you feel better. It helps so like I wore one. It helps so much. I was in so much pain yesterday. I put it on and I I did like another eight hours of renovation after I put it on. Like, I gotta guess I'm wear this wrist. I want to make fun of you because I either I I wore one before and it self so much, and I can't make fun of the injury because I was playing an Xbox the other day and I was playing baseball and I swung and I took a sharp pain in my wrist that made me drop the controller. my gosh, you hurt yourself. This is a middle aged podcast. Like I felt for when I put that brace on, I really did feel all of that. That is the most four year old brace in the world. That is I'm wearing it to work today. I gotta go move liquid. I like that it's shorter though. It doesn't go too far up. And it's like it doesn't go too far down the your it's got like plastic. It's really yeah. Yeah that it to unruly customer to their nose, draw it up into the brain, knock them out. Yeah, stop. Yeah. That's not judo though. That would be more karate. Self displayed that's more karate, yeah. Kevrate. And that's the weekly report. I don't like how we ended it with Japanese stuff. I don't know if karate is Japanese. I think it is. Yep. Yep. Speaking of Asians, we watched Kate's pick this week, which took place in an Asian country. Yep. Most of it, some of it. Yep. so Kate, why don't you tell everybody what we watched for the third week of psychological thriller week month? We watched the nineteen ninety scary movie Jacob's Ladder. I would love for Brent or Nate to tell us about it. Jacob's latter is a story of a man who was in Vietnam, played by Tim Robbins, and it shows cutscenes from his current life and his old life in Vietnam where they're given some kind of bad weed at first. It could be bad weed or a nerve agent. And he has some PTSD meanings back to living in New York. he starts to see things, demonic things. Hearing things. He lost his son and his current wife is alive, but they're going through divorce. He's with Regie Vellens' cousin from Labamba. he's with her. and they live together, and he's a post office worker. He drives a mail truck, and it's his slow unraveling of his mental. Health and he sees more and more demonic things and devils and everyone's killing and dying and these flashbacks and episodes and yes, it's causing him to have freak outs in public and everyone's worried about him, and for some reason he confides in his chiropractor, who is like his guardian angel for some reason. and it all turns out that the government gave these guys some bed. drugs, shut them up, and it turns out none of this a ever happened. It was all just a flashback when he got stabbed in Vietnam. That's Jacob's ladder. That's Jacob's ladder. That's that's Jacob's ladder. Yeah. Yeah. Well would you guys like to talk about your favorite parts? Yes, sir. This was a great pick, Kate. This is a great movie that I always was aware of, but never watched other than this show. what a good movie. This is this nails psychological thriller big time. Yeah, it's interesting because I had been aware of it forever. And you really do see how it has inspired movies after it. Yeah, that makes sense. Like, it's kind of like I didn't like that. Like the ending is the whole time he was dying. Yeah. And that's kind of trite now, but but that was maybe one of the first films that did that. And they were like, he was dying. I'm sure it was quite shocking at the time compared to now. Like they've done a lot of stuff like that, where it was like, it was a dream the whole time. But I bet in nineteen ninety that was one of the early, like, whoa. No way. And I don't really understand it either. No, neither do I. Like it's just easier to say, he was just dreaming of it all. But it it like why would he dream that? Like part of me was a little bit disappointed in a way where I was like, it kind of undercuts a lot of what the movie is about. Because there's all these themes and all this like commentary and stuff like that, but it's like since none of it so there was a part of me that was like A little bit disappointed at the end, I would say. Okay. Yeah, it it just took away from the whole like everything that happened because he just made it all up where it would be much more interesting if that's what actually happened in his real life that he was going through that and his mental health broke down because of Vietnam. But it it kinda just died in the jungle. Right. So Which makes him kind of a pervert, really, when you think about it. Because he created that girlfriend. Yeah. A hundred percent. Well, I guess that was the woman he worked with. Yeah. His girlfriend was But he he it was a whole fantasy about some lady that he worked with and they were And we saw her boobs a lot. He had her topless a lot in his imagination. Like he was in at times where it wasn't really appropriate. Nude women. Yeah. But I I wasn't complaining at first. Me neither. Yeah, hell yeah. I was like, that's Richie Vallens' cousin from fucking Labamba. Did you actually know that or did you look that up? Brent loves Labamba. I knew that. It's like well, that's a far enough fact in Brent's life is Labamba. Nate knows. Yeah. He was he was with his cousin Bob. Rich listen, anyway, I'm getting off track. But that's her and Sh I don't know what she had a glow up from Labama to this movie because she looked beautiful. I wasn't complaining at all. She looked so good and like just one of those very sexy lady. Literal lady was very sex dancing. Yeah. Dancing her heart out. It's she dances like I think Nate dances. That's right. Just like goes for it. That's right. And during that scene, I was like, I'd be on that dance floor with her. I would really be showing these people what sweating. Yeah. Rubbing on a devil. But at one point I I just said later on I said just put a shirt on. This is no need. And then to find out that he dreamt all this and made it up, he's kind of a pervert. Yeah, a little bit of a pervert. I would agree with that. Like if you're like you're laying in Vietnam in the jungle, bleeding out, and then you just start thinking about your coworker topless for like an hour. He fantasized a whole divorce. You know what I'm saying? Like Yeah, he did. He fantasized a whole divorce. Rude. And so did his dad did his kid die before he went to Vietnam? I think so, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Macaulay Culkin. Is there anything Macaulay Culkin's not in as good? Okay. He is a great actor. Looking cute as a fucking Culkin. Yeah. Is the most adorable child. I'd be traumatized if my Macaulay Culkin got run over. Also, what a horri Like there was nobody on the street. Like that person that ran him over was so in the wrong. No cell phones either. It wasn't even like they were looking at their phone. That's just like a just a straight up terrible driver. The the ambush scene, Ving Rames, he nailed the the seizure. He fucking put his heart like the way she danced, he did seizure. Yeah. He put his fucking nuts into that. He did really good seizure work. That's my note. Good seizure work. I would say Tim Robbins did bad getting Bayonetted work though. He was doing his face was mugging too much for a guy. He was like, we're not we didn't cross. We didn't mention that at s at so many times during this movie. He would see people who were shaking, like when Brent takes in a bunch of information, like that's like a big theme in this movie. So While he's dying, he also is imagining that he's being chased. That he that okay, so then that's what so then there's a part of like the spiritual aspect of it is they tell he learns that you have to what is it they say that's like you have to accept like sometimes when you're running you need to stop running and you just need to It's it's sort of like they they're saying something about that by fighting against reality, you make your life more and more horrific. And it's like that it's his lack of acceptance that is making him get deeper and deeper and things get worse and worse because he's he's not accepting that he's dead. I think. But what we learn is that he's not dead yet. Like they're actively working on him, they are doing things. chest compressions like maybe or I don't know maybe he still is dead but or it's almost like he's holding on even though it's like it's time to let go because they say he put like he sure put up a hell of a fight like he was really trying to stay alive but it's like sometimes you're dead. And so the last part is that he keeps imagining McCauly Culkin is dad's son and McCaulay Culkin is like, come play with me, dad. And he finally is like Okay, I will follow you up the stairs into the light. To heaven. To the heaven room. To the heavens. Yeah, it was it it was it's a long way to get to heaven. He he made his last time on earth very difficult for some reason where he could just picture good things. Picture like kissing his wife. Yep. Don't make up a whole Latin love affair. So what's interesting then is that like his subconscious Created the reason why his death occurred. Like it n had to make sense of why that happened because he knew that his platoon partner stabbed him. Yeah. So okay, so that helps me understand it better. So like he needed to make sense of it before he let himself go. It also it raises an interesting question of Are we supposed to believe that that drug is real and that that sold those soldiers did get exposed to that drug and it made them attack each other? Like is that a real thing and then he had his fantasy after that? Or is that part of the fantasy? I don't know. It's it's not established. It's just like an interesting question of like, but in my mind, the government did drug them, his friend did stab him, and then he did die. Well, and it has the card at the end that says that like the government did do this, basically. Yeah. Tested with MK Ultra drugs and stuff. Yeah, which is not okay. The the ambush scene not only had great seizure work, but that leg getting blown off by that guy, that was highly realistic. They look fucked up. A lot of tendons. A lot of tendons and ligament work. I love that. And they blew that HUD up. Man, that that was some that was some of the better action movie effects I've seen. It looked like a Vietnam movie at that part. Like this is like three movies in one, this movie. I didn't like him stepping in the rat water in the subway when he he missed his stop and he go I didn't like that. That's that sock has to go in the garbage as soon as you get home. And he sees a homeless person, then he sees like a tail, like a little thing. I thought that was a insane penis. I know I did too. I thought that was I thought it was a moving penis puppet. Yeah. It would have been a real mm nasty one. It's not supposed to move like that. Penis not smoke, it'll be like snake. Why don't penises move? god, they don't. Like trunk like elephant trunks. Yeah, like elephant drums. We wouldn't get stuffed on. We'd be picking stuff up all the time. If penises could move like that, boobs should be able to move. Like it holds my corndog. Yeah. Yeah. And you can just eat your phone while you eat. It's such a good show. Sit in the mustard version. Yeah. It's such a good show. Nick passes you like Yeah, passes me some dipping sauce with his penis. But he's still using binoculars to watch the game. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. The neck crack flashback scene was great. Fantastic. That's good use of being a filmmaker. So much cracking. What was the deal with that chiropractor? I like I could not understand what his deal was. Like 'cause he seems to I wonder if he was a doctor. I w I just thought of this. Like maybe he was one of the doctors that were ch was trying to save his life. And like maybe he represented that. I thought he was God at some point. Yeah, I thought that too. See, and I thought maybe he was like the devil at one point, because it there is some nefariousness about like when he cracks the neck. It's like that that was very but he always feels better and he saves him from that terrible scary hospital where they wheel him around all the dead people and the dead limbs and the Could you imagine your chiropractor going to bat for you like that? No. I can't imagine anybody going to bat for me like that. No. I c I couldn't imagine my chiropractor's name. I like the fact that Kate said that about the doctor because he snaps him back into reality. Like every time he cracked him, he snapped him back into VM. L look at us guys. This is the best movie podcast. It's so good. reviewing movies that are thirty-six years old. Wow. Mm-hmm. We had boom contemporary film dogs. She wasn't really good for him. He imagined her, but she wasn't a very supportive partner. I mean she got mad at him a lot for having flash. She did not sign up for this. I'm gonna defend her. I kind of I I kinda am on her side a little bit too, where it's like and she said before she's like, I've been around too many crazy people. It's like she's been through enough already. Like that would be me. That would be me. I'd be like, at the first sign of psychosis, I'd be like, sorry, not sorry. Can't do it. Yeah. Put a shirt You're dangerous. Yeah. Okay. Especially he pushed her at one point. A lot of that going on back then. I had a thought three quarters to the movie with some simple planning and patience, you could do this to someone. You can make them think they're going crazy like that. yeah. It's called gaslighting. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Also, felt totally ruined to Jason Alexander for me because I can't picture him in. Like he was good in this movie, but now I'm like, that's just George. See, I I felt like this movie, I'm like, he's such a great actor. Like in a way, Seinfeld was like I'm glad he's got famous and got all the money, but it's like it almost like cost us a bunch of great performances because people will think of him as George instead of letting him do his thing. 'Cause he was so great in this movie. He's so good in it. Yeah. He's so neurotic as George and then when he plays other roles, it's more grounded. He seems so competent in this one where he's like and like we wise to the world and like the w you know, he's just he had great energy. So what we haven't mentioned or I Brent, I don't remember if you mentioned this. So in part of the movie, Tim finds the other guys that were in his platoon and they want to sue the government. To understand why they're all experiencing the same thing. And they try to hire him to help them and then they all back out and they never explain why. Right? Someone got to them. That's the implication. So that's a confusing part of like what would be I guess that's just a part of the larger subconscious narrative for him to try to understand. I don't know. Yeah, it just kind of throws you off the scent of what's going on that like, maybe this is a big conspiracy. Yeah. Like, cause I was not expecting like I knew because there were interstitial, I'm not know if I'm using that word right, moments, like they go back to Vietnam throughout the movie. Like you kind of see that part of the plot progress to the point where But he gets like he gets Taken by a helicopter. So he's like stabbed by a platoon mate and then he gets lifted by a helicopter. Yeah. Is that right? And then he goes to the hosp like the hospital in Vietnam. Yeah. So I wonder. So like there's the car explosion. There's the car chasing him. Like that could be his experience of what's actually happening in Vietnam. Absolutely. Kind of breaking through. I don't know. I'm just talking. No, that sounds right to me. I also thought it's very funny in his fantasy that his whole platoon is like traumatized, except for the one guy who's like, Why are you guys all every he's like trying to crack jokes at the funeral and everyone's being so dour, but he's like the one guy who Vietnam did not affect him at all. He's fine. He's completely you guys are so serious. Bunch of fucking drama queens. Yeah, exactly. He's like, Jesus Christ, you guys. Ghosts? Okay. I don't know how you go to war. It this is gonna sound trite, but like this movie, especially it hit home of like during the war parts. I'm like, war is so fucking stupid. I can't believe we did this and continue to do this. Like it I've seen so many war movies that this should sink in more, but during this one especially, I was like, this was what a fucking waste. How stupid and How stupid was this that you're just traumatizing a whole generation of people for what? For what? So if you treat hold on, let me bring it into a contemporary p moment. If we treat men as if they are disposable, they will treat women in human ways and as disposable. Let's go. That's Jacob's ladder. Analysis. Jacob's ladder. Maybe Jacob's ladder is the ladder to the glass ceiling. Okay. Sure. Are you ready for the seven steps of Jacob's ladder? Yes I like it. We're gonna start with Brent. What university did Jacob graduate from? And we see this because he shows us his diploma. Damn. University of Brooklyn, Brooklyn College, New York University, College of Manhattan. College of Manhattan. Brooklyn College. Brooklyn College is correct. My own personal war. I also liked in this movie right like now if you see a modern New York story, New York looks quite nice, but there was like a period from basically the seventies until the late nineties where everywhere in New York just looks like fucking shit. It looks like horrible filthy broken down. It's like St. Louis. Like it just looks like shit. I like that. Number two, what is Jacob's degree? Masters of Science, Masters of Arts, Doctorate of Psychology, Doctorate of Philosophy. It's Nate's turn. Doctorate of Philosophy. What were the first two? Masters of Science, Masters of Arts. Arts. Prince correct. It was a master's of arts. So Jake and I have the same degree. Look at you. Gone forever. number three. Which of these three singers were not played during the party scene? So I'm gonna name three singers and you have to choose the one that was not played. Okay. James Brown, Patty Labelle, Anita Baker. James Brown, Patty Labelle. I'm on the board. It was Anita Baker. So they they played Boule Voulez Vuche avec moi was played. Of course, and that nailed it. Voulez Vucouche avec moi. nailed it. And then there was a like a lesser known James Brown song played. That was quite the party. That was a rager. That's a priority. That's those are that is what I thought parties would be like. Parties are not like that. Yeah, no, they were having better parties than we were. Having for sure. Number four, what year was he discharged from the army? Seventy, seventy one, seventy two, seventy-three. Seventy two. Seventy three. Seventy two is correct. Number five. What day of the week was the attack making del on making Delta October sixth, nineteen seventy one? So what day of the week was it when Jacob was stabbed and killed? You have any day of the week to guess. Brent goes first. It was a Saturday. They were in a bad mood because it was a Monday. They're real Garfields in Vietnam. It was hump day. It was Wednesday. Of course. Of course it was a Wednesday. All right. So I've got two. Nate has two. Brent has one. We got two questions left. Number six. Who sploded in his car? I just wanted to say it that way. Who exploded in his car? Frank, Paul, George, or Don? George. Frank. The answer is Paul. Also, instead of I meant to write Doug and I wrote dog and then I forgot that it was Doug, so I said Dawn. But Doug is an actual character. And a little look into my psyche. If I had written the question, 'cause there's two names that are Beatles, I would have made the other two names Beatles as well. That that would have been my just a little look inside the behind the card. We would have known it was a ring O. You would have known it wasn't Ringo. But I wanted to use the character names. Yeah, yeah. No, you did those were all characters. Did the right thing. Yeah. Well, peeling back the kimono. Okay, so we're gonna do closest two for this one. Number seven. What year did Danny Aiello die? He's dead. I didn't even know he was dead. I don't even know who he is, to be honest. I cannot picture the man in my mind. Two thousand two. I will show you a picture of him. Okay. He was a chiropractor. it was the chiropractor. Okay. Yeah. Nineteen ninety eight. he died in two thousand nineteen. So Britt got that point. Gone forever. Kate, you've won the quiz. Kate, you've won the quiz. Would you like what was the construct you can have constructive criticism, a compliment or your name spelled? What would you like? I want compliments, of course. And I'm going to receive them. Yeah. Well, Kate. Think hard. Like I said last week, I I started pre-prepping this so that I would never get so I didn't never come with a mid, a lukewarm compliment because I've been forced. I've been Pre-preparing my compliments and my compliment for you, Kate, is that if I were to have a party, any type of party, the first person I would invite to the party is Kate because I Kate, I think you would are the number one party guest that anybody can invite because you understand what's going on. god. I like that. I like that a lot. That's a good compliment. Theme party, she's coming themed. Serious party, she's coming serious. Warm family. occasion. Kate understands the program. Number one party guest Kate. Thank you. That's a good compliment. No pressure on it. No, that's fine. My compliment is how impressed I am with your parenting style. Instead of just telling Jules everything will be okay or here's what happened to me or, you know, just buck up and go through it. You're gonna give her real life examples that not only is she go through it, everybody goes through some sort of bullying. And you don't take the easy way, you take a A way where you put work into a and show you apply an application of this is what happens to and that's a non-lazy parenting way and you don't you don't take the cop out way. Thank you. I really appreciate that. You guys, this feels so good. Yeah, it's a Brent's Brent's genius for making this part of the segment. Yeah. I have a wrinkle to throw into the situation since Kate or since Nate finished second. Nate, s tell me a year. Nineteen eighty-six, the year I was born. Okay. Let's go. Let's continue. Okay. Okay, so let's give this let's hand out some medals. Yeah, let's hand out some medals. Yep. My bronze medal is going to Jason Alexander. who will forever be George to me, but he still makes me want to fight for the fact that he's a great actor, even though he's George. Mine goes to sexy lady booby girl Elizabeth Pena as Jezie or Jezebel, the girlfriend, who also like the Most beautiful woman that ever worked in a post office. I would be yeah, I'd be thinking about her at work if I was working at the post office. I'm gonna go with Brent, Jason Alexander. I thought I it it was a moment of me like I really had a moment being like he is such a great actor, and George probably cost us some great performances. but I'm glad we got him. Jason Alexander, bronze pedal. Silver Medal is going to Mr. Timothy Robbins. great actor, played a lot of great roles. Tough haircut in this movie, but tough glasses, but he made it work. he played a person losing their mind pretty well. So this is just a shout out to Lewis Black, who played Jacob's Doctor. He this must have been one of his first roles. Must have been. but I I'm giving mine to Danny Aiello because He has such father energy. He has such like caretaking energy. And I just really he was a respite in this movie for me. So that's why he gets my silver. I'm gonna agree with Kate on this one. I'm giving it he it was really hard for me to figure out if he was nefarious or not because of that warmth that you're talking about, Kate. But they're also filming him from like Tim Robbins' perspective on the Chiropractor chair looking up at him, which is like kind of ominous. And so the whole time I'm like, I cannot put my finger on how I'm supposed to feel about this man. but it was an interesting performance. He's gonna get my silver medal. gold medal time. My gold medal goes to Richie Vell and his cousin in La Bamba, Elizabeth Kenya, played Jezebel, not for the horny gary reasons. I just thought she was great. She was fiery, that dancing scene alone at the party. She said, you know, I'm I've been around too many crazy people, I'm getting out. And she was a good twist in the movie. And she she I liked that she put him in the tub. Yeah, he had 105 temperature, 106. His brains were gonna boil, they the doctor said. He was dying, he was living, he was crazy, he was sexy. He was all over the place. Good for him. Good for him. And good for him st being with Susan Snarandon. Like both of them. They're just a great looking couple. I'm giving my gold medal to Elizabeth Paina. She was the best performance in this movie. She was so natural. I actually was really curious as to why she wasn't a big star. Like I feel like I should s have seen her in twenty movies instead of this being the only movie I've ever seen her in, because I have not seen La Bamba. It's fucking shame. She was beautiful and she was like spicy and capable and just like so good. I got a hot take. I'm not so sure Tim Robbins is a good actor after watching this movie. I think Tim Robbins might just be tall. I mean, he did win an Academy Award. Did he? What did he win for? Yeah, for Mystic Rivers. for Mr. Rivers. I would have been like Shank? Shawshank? I guess I him in Shaw Shank. I'm gonna keep my eye on him. I'm not so sure. and he also got a nomination for best Academy Award for Best Director for Dead Man Walking. my god. I did not know he directed that. More respect. Doesn't change anything. He's on official watch. He's watch right. He's on Fraud Watch. He's on Fraud Watch right now. he's in this show I like called Silo, and he's f completely fine in it. doesn't change anything. I give you both a 10 out of 10 for your excellent medals. Would you guys like to give this movie a rating? I just want to correct myself. Susan Srandon and Tim Robbins were together from nineteen eighty eight to two thousand nine. So they I s and I think they're still friendly. So, you know. Prime years. Prime years. this is Jacob's ladder. Jacob's Ladder. I had one of those toys. Did you guys ever have a Jacob's Ladder toy? I did not. I don't know what it is. I got it from an the Amish when I was a kid. It's like a bunch of wooden blocks connected by ribbon, and you can turn it and it they flop down. I don't know. Whatever. It's like a puzzle thing, but it's not a puzzle. excellent. The script for this movie. What did you guys think of the script for the film Jacob's Ladder? I mean, it's iconic, but I'm gonna give it an eight. Mm. It's Very convoluted and kind of undercuts itself, like Nate said. I give it a seven. Yeah, seven seems about right for me. I think i yeah, if the ending had been I don't know what I would have preferred, but it did it didn't leave me feeling great. Seven. The art direction for this movie, the sets, the props, the costumes. The war stuff looked great. Like it looked like any big War action movie, the leg, like Brent said, that's getting big points from me. I like a disgusting New York. I I I I'm partial to a disgusting New York. So I'll go eight. I think it it makes its way to eight. Yeah, this was like very 1989. I'm gonna give it a nine. I think it was gritty and dark and cool for the time. I give it a 10. Ooh. the music for this film actually kind of a whiff if you think about the Vietnam era. There's a lot of there's a lot to work with. We didn't hear one CCR song, and so you can't have a Vietnam movie without a CCR song. So that's gonna take three points right off the top. That's a seven. I noticed the music. So that to me is something. So I'm gonna give it an eight. I agree with Nate they did with but the party scene had some banger music the whole scene so I give you an eight yeah it did have music during the party I would have danced too I would have danced too the genre for this film this is a psychological horror film that's what they call it they they are not fucking around you could call this a a war movie it's a thriller 'Cause he's being chased around, there's a lot going on, but as far as this whole thing is it's all brain. It's all inside the brain. It's all his own creation. It's not as good as Silence the Lambs, but so I'll give it a nine. I agree. It's a nine. Yeah, it's really good. eight. Okay. And then it kind of gets a little bit complicated because the theme this month is cyclopee is for the the pumpkin word for the October that's not pumpkins. Yeah, that's right. Ha how how do you guys rate it just c copy and paste. Just copy and paste nine eight nine? I think so. I think so. I don't want to give it a ten. I want to give it a nine. I'll give it an eight. I'll give it a nine. This movie gets a forty one point three. This movie gets a forty one point three. That's pretty high, right? That's higher than we rated Sleepy Hollow, which was a forty point three. Yeah, and I would much personally much rather watch Sleepy Hollow again. But I'm glad that I watched this film. Especially and my friend Marissa was right. Like if you were on drugs and you watched this movie, it would really fucking mess with your brain. I don't like that. A bad time. Do not do not take a large edible and watch this. No, it would be a bad time. Bad shit. Not gonna enjoy yourself. Because really, isn't life just a Jacobs ladder situation? Sure. Sure. Do we have suggestions for movies next week? We the reason we're doing something a little different, I asked you, would you finish second place in the quiz, which means you picked a year, nineteen eighty six. That's her year. Since Kate won, I'm gonna list five movies and Kate's gonna pick Which movie we watch? Out of the five from nineteen eighty-six. So these are a list of the best thrillers from nineteen eighty-six. And the five choices that Kate gets to pick from are I'm nervous. Yep. Big responsibility. The Fly, Aliens, Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part Two, The Hitcher, and Where's That Little Shop of Horrors. Let me look up The Hitcher. Yeah, I've never heard of such a film. Hitcher is a young man who escapes Go ahead. A young man who escapes the clutches of a murderous hitchhiker is subs subs I can't say this word. Subsequently? Subsequently stalked by the hitcher and framed for his crimes. Okay. What was the first one? The Fly, Aliens, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, The Hitcher, and Little Shop of Horrors. Okay, I hate to do this tonight, but I want to watch Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. I'm so fucking happy that you did that. I Kate, I could go over the big high fives. Kate, you're doing what you have to do for the good of the show. Kate fucking nailed it. Yes. It's Halloween. Yes, it's Halloween. It's Halloween. We gotta watch this fucking bullshit. And I've never seen it, and the first one is good. I think I've seen the first one, or at least I've seen like enough clips that I understand the beginning and the ending of the first one. Just you're not gonna like every moment you should watch with a friend. No, I'll I think what I'll do is it'll be like a real like one thirty PM watching this movie. That's a good idea. Maybe working out while I do maybe while you're painting. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Chop top is in this. so happy. All right. That's what we're watching. all right, we're gonna watch Texas Chase Alabaster Part 2 next week. And that means all that's left to do is say goodnight, Kate. Good night, Kate. Good night, Kate. Thirteen years ago, audiences across America were horrified by the brutality of a faceless killer. Now, after more than a decade of silence, he Hiding. Chainsaw Massacre Part 2. Directed by Toby Hooper. Now playing in Cineplex Odeon and selected theaters near you. Listener, I'm not laughing or smiling at that joke. Kate Kate looks very unhappy.
