Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Racers Odds.
- 0:01SPEAKER_00: I'm David Stiles.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: He's Andrew Curland.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: We're getting down to the nitty-gritty and not the band.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: We've only got two races left in the season.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: And Kyle Larson for the Cup Series, he's almost got this thing on lock.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: He has 73 points over second place Denny Hamlin.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: And Andrew Talladega proved to be the unpredictable race that we thought it would be, but it favored Kyle Larson, and now he has a stranglehold on the rest of the field.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: Your impressions as we get ready to head into Martinsville and a really, really tough racetrackers, but it seems to be Hendrick Motorsports' playground.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, not good for the competition.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: I think Kyle Larson was the last one that we wanted to see win the race in terms of seeing some excitement as we get this chase closed up.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: But as Kyle Petty said on Fast Talk, man, he's earned it.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: He has just been really stellar this chase.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: Three wins, all three of his wins this season have come in the chase.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: And yeah, you can't help but just respect the performance that Kyle Larson's had.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: He's had seven finishes of sixth or better this chase out of eight races so far.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: The one bad finish he had was Phoenix, 34th, but everything else outside of that has been a top six finish, including three wins.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's the most deserving right now to win a champion.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: Win a championship.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Five races in the top two out of the eight races that he has run in the chase.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Unbelievable performance by the five team.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: He's averaging a 6.5 average finish and over 49 and a half points per race over the chase.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: So he's doing unreal things.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: And it hasn't been because Hendrick has been good all year.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: I feel like this year has been a Toyota year, and now it seems Chevy is going to lock up this championship.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: So let's look at some of the odds if you were going to bet on a champion at this point in the season.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: I know it's getting a little late, but if you still haven't done that, there's still time out there.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: But I don't know if it will be of value to you now.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Kyle Larson, he's your favorite.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: He only has to score four points to put this thing out of reach for everyone else, maybe even three points.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: And if he does that at Martinsville, they'll go ahead and etch his name on the trophy.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: You can take Larson at minus 1200.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: That means if you bet one unit, you would get 0.08 units back.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Just unbelievable the lead that he has on everybody else.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: And there are a number of drivers that have already been eliminated because they're not mathematically still in this.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: So from seventh up is all you have.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: And you can bet on those other six drivers, you have Hamlin at plus 1200, Bell at plus 2,500, Briscoe plus 3,500, Blaney plus 6,000, Ligano plus 6,000, and then Reddick plus 6,500.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: So some long, long odds as we get a little bit further back in those futures for the Cup Series Championship here in 2026.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: Hey, David, do you know how much I have in my bankroll?
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: You have around, we we're both around like 5,000.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm I don't know exactly how much you have left, but I we've been uh I'm up like 260 something units.
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: 5,000.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: All right, that's good to know.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: Um I and this is all monopoly money, of course.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: Give give me 4,000 units on Kyle Larson to win the championship.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: Let's make a let's make a little bit of a of a splash here.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: There you there you go.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: And so if if you bet that, you know, if you do the math and bet that out, I mean you're you're getting what eight percent back per unit that you that you bet plus your original plus your original bet.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: So if you go ahead and put that in the calculator, how much do you get back in profit?
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: Let's see.
- 3:52SPEAKER_01: I'm pulling it up right now as we speak.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: Um I actually can't find NASCAR futures on uh DraftKings is what I'm looking at now, but I'm sure it's not bad.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: Um and so yeah, we're just gonna try to we're gonna I I gotta do something different because I've got you I've got you on the pick'em game, but I don't have you in the bankroll, so I need to do something different.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: And uh I might as well get him while I still can bet on him.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because if he locks this thing up, there there won't be anything to bet on after we get done with get done with Martinsville.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: And so if you're if you're looking at this and you have it's not nothing is ever safe, but minus 1200, that's that's a pretty that's a pretty safe bet.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: But your return on that to get some profit is going to have to be pretty high.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: Again, one unit, you get 0.08 units back.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: If we look at some of the other championship hopefuls, let's go to the O'Reilly series because there's not a whole lot else that we can talk about.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: The O'Reilly series, Jesse Love is leading those standings.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: He only has a 19-point lead over second place Justin Algyre.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: You can take Jesse Love at minus 140.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: That's a little bit better of a bet at minus odds.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Justin Algayer plus 165.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Corey Day plus 450.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: Sheldon Creed, who I picked earlier in the season, he's plus 2,500.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: There's still a chance.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: He's still within 50 points.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: So Sheldon Creed, I hope you can pull it out.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: Carson Quappel, who's had an amazing stretch here over the last few uh weeks, he's plus 2,800.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: Sam Mayer, 20,000, plus 20,000 for Sam Mayer, and then plus 50,000 for Sammy Smith.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: So those last two guys, they've got some really, really long odds.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: It doesn't look good for Mayer or Smith, but I think you've got five guys, especially three guys right there, all within striking distance.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: Love minus 140, Algayer plus 165, and Corey Day plus 450.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: It would be$333.33, is what I would be making if Larson wins the championship, putting 4,000 units on that.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: Back to uh O'Reilly.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: If Justin Algeyer is at plus odds, holy crap, give me that.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: I mean, he is going to one of his best racetracks in Martinsville.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: He's won this specific race a number of times in his career.
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: I think this is the weekend that Algayer gets back in the fight and maybe even takes a point lead over Jesse Love.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: Um, Jesse Love's best racetracks are behind him.
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: Phoenix was his best place.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: And now we have re-entered Justin Algeyer territory.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: It was the scenic route, but I think Justin's still on his way to a second championship.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: Well, and it's also fitting that Jesse Love is defending his championship, and he is the points leader here currently.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: So you know that he's not going to go into that dark night without a fight.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: So we'll see what happens.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: I like that bet.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: I think Alguier plus 165 is actually not bad.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: I, you know, I have that future out there for Creed.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: I might actually fade that with an all guy bet.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: I think you're, I think you're pretty spot on.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: If we go down to the truck series, Caden Honeycutt minus 750, Riggs plus 400, uh, Chandler Smith plus 45,000, Ekis plus 45,000, and then Ty Majeski plus 45,000.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: This is really shaping up as it has been over the last number of weeks, six weeks for the truck series.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: This is a two-car battle or two-truck battle for that Truck Series Championship.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: I I like Honeycutt in this one.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: Minus 750.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: I know Lane Riggs has had a lot of momentum, but he's a number of points behind Caden Honeycut right now, 43 to be exact.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: And so I think that may be a little bit too much, too late for Lane Riggs to overcome.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: I know he's not mathematically out of it yet, but if Caden Honeycut can hold serve, I think it'll be very hard from the native of Bahama, North Carolina, Lane Riggs, to come back against Caden Honeycut and that Tricon team.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I agree with you.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: Um I haven't done a whole lot of digging into the Truck Series quite yet to know who uh I would feel good about going into Martinsville and Homestead, but Honeycutt's just been rock solid, um, especially in this chase.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: Four wins in the season compared to Lane Riggs' seven, but still, um I think the O'Reilly battle is gonna be the most exciting one.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: Uh I do have some things on Martinsville too.
- 8:22SPEAKER_01: And you know, Denny Hamlin is currently the guy chasing Kyle Larson.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: He's second in points, he's 73 back.
- 8:29SPEAKER_01: But holy crap, did Denny Hamlin have a great Martinsville the last time we were here?
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: He led 292 laps, swept both of the stages, finished second.
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: If he would have won the race, well, that would have been a 75-point day.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure who got the fastest lap, but a really impressive showing from Denny Hamlin the last time we were here.
- 8:52SPEAKER_01: If there's any racetrack, I feel like Hamlin would be wanting to go to to have any sort of rebound.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: I feel like Martinsville is a pretty good one.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: Yes, Hendrick Motorsports is very good at this racetrack.
- 9:03SPEAKER_01: 31 wins across the entire organization.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: There you had Chase Elliott as the winning driver last time we were there, but Denny has had solid performances the last couple of times we've been to Martinsville, and that's someone that I am looking at.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: Kyle Larson in this race earlier in the year finished ninth, finished ninth in stage two, scored 30 points.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: So that's a decent number of points that Denny would have made up.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: Say this would be the championship race.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: Say Denny wins the race, he scores 75, Kyle Larson scores 30.
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: Well, that's a chunk of points right there, you know, and that's what keeps you into it.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: You gotta win, I feel like, if you want to stop Kyle Larson this weekend, though.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: I just don't think it'll happen.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: I I want Denny to do well.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: I think the window's closing for him to get his championship.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's one of those feel-good stories that you want to happen, but I don't think it's going to materialize.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: I think it's a little bit too much, too late for the rest of the field.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: I think Larson all he has to do is just go out there and don't lose a whole bunch of ground because then when we go to homestead Miami, he's really, really good at that track.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: If he's if he has any kind of lead over anyone else, I don't think they'll be able to make up 50 plus points on him.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: And he even mentioned it at the end of the Talladega race that he wished he had already wrapped it up.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: He said, Why couldn't I have just scored a few more points and just went ahead and made this a no-doubter and entered Martinsville already the champion?
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: So it's very close to being hemmed up.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: I like what you're saying about Denny.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: It's another one of his home tracks, but Hendrick has just had this place dialed in over the last few seasons.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: I know that when we went there earlier in the spring, Hendrick was not performing at the clip that we thought that they should, and Chase Elliott really won that race on a strategy by Alan Guseson.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: But man, Larson and Byron and Elliott are just super, super good at this racetrack.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: And I think that Cliff Daniels has had this kind of circled, and if they figure this out and they go out there and qualify well, I think it's just go ahead and etch his name on the trophy.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: It might be Kyle Larson's show.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: So we'll have to see what happens.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: But I mean, the books are even kind of a green.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: Kyle Larson, this is his to lose, and it's going to be very hard for him to lose it, I think.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no doubt.
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: I uh I'm not ready to give him the trophy yet, though.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: And and if he has a decent day in Martinsville and earns it, then I'm ready to do it.
- 11:30SPEAKER_01: But I mean, gosh, it wasn't long ago that we were saying the same thing about Larson.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: Oh, well, it's just his thing to lose.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: And then all of a sudden, Phoenix happens and it opens everything back up.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: Of course, Talladega then made that pointsly expand again, but all it takes is for one race, and everything can be turned on its head.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: And so I'm not ready to really make my decision and crown a champion until I think maybe we're done with Martinsville and we really have one race to evaluate everything because I still think there's a lot of time for chaos and carnage to happen.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: Well, if you're going all in on Larson with that 4,000 debt, you're kind of being counterintuitive to what you're saying.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: Listen, here's the thing, probability-wise, absolutely, Larson's this is his to lose.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: I feel like he will be the champion, but I'm not ready to crown him the champion quite yet, if that makes sense.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: So, what's your opinion on Larson kind of sealing this thing up?
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: Say he gets a number of stage points and go ahead, you know, goes ahead and gets a plus 70 five-point lead on the rest of the field.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: Are you happy with that result?
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: And and what would your feelings be as we get ready to enter Homestead?
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: I would obviously wish for a tighter championship battle, but I will throw my head on the pillow after homestead feeling better about how we crowned a champion this year versus last year.
- 12:59SPEAKER_01: The championship for it, Phoenix last year, just left the worst taste in my mouth.
- 13:05SPEAKER_01: And that's not the first time that that format has done it.
- 13:08SPEAKER_01: At least we can go to bed knowing that this was a large sample size, and we were able to crown the most deserving champion in our postseason.
- 13:20SPEAKER_01: And that to me will feel a lot better than the pain that I felt for Danny Hamlin after losing it last year just because of a random caution on the last race.
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: If it ends up happening that way where the points are close, we have a Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards battle, and you get an unlucky caution.
- 13:37SPEAKER_01: Well, you had 10 races to build on that.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: Um, I think we should celebrate Kyle Larson if he is the champion.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: If he locks it up a race early, I think we should celebrate that.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: Not to be retrojective, but Denny Hamlin could have won that championship last year if he'd just not have pitted.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: I mean, he could have done a number of different things.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: All he had to do was beat Kyle Larson because Byron had already wrecked and Chase Briscoe was not a real factor.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: So if you're going to say that it was a happenstance caution, I don't think that's really fair because he could have stayed out.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: He chose to do what he saw happen in the truck race earlier and lost himself that championship.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: I don't think it was anything that, you know, it was taken away from him.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: He put himself in that decision and made that decision, and that's the reason that he lost it.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: I think this is a completely different story where Kyle Larson has come into this deal and absolutely wore the field out.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: I mean, there's only been one other instance of someone with a better average finish than him, and if he continues to dominate this way, we could see that average finish come down.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: He's got a 6.5 average finish over these last eight races, and I think he could probably make a run for it if he continues to run well.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: There's no doubt in my mind that he could go out there at Martinsville and end up winning this race.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: So I'm kind of counterintuitive to you.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: I don't really feel bad for Denny not winning it last year because he put himself in that position.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: I do wish for his story that he could be a champion because I think that he deserves to be a champion.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: But deserving something is very different from going out there and earning it.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: So uh that's just kind of where I'm at.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: I know we have a little bit of conflicting opinion on that.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: So it's just fun, uh, fun to talk about it.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: But I think just like you said, we can lay our head down on the pillow and know that the best driver and the most consistent team has won this championship, but they've performed that way over the last eight races, ten races, because Larson started in the seventh position when we reseeded all of this, and he has really just outperformed everyone points wise and finish-wise.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: So I fully agree.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: When when we crown the champion, it will be a very deserving champion.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: I just think we're going to crown it early and we'll have a whole race left where you know that it doesn't really matter for championship obligations.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: We're just going to go out there and run another race and see who can, you know, bring home the bragging rights that they won at homestead.
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: And if that's the case, then that's cool.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: I mean, this format, if anything, I think makes it harder to necessarily run away with it because a win brings you back into it.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: So the fact that Larson's run as well as he has this chase, I mean, this is an unbelievable run.
- 16:10SPEAKER_01: Imagine if he he wins the next two.
- 16:13SPEAKER_01: Well, that's on par with Tony Stewart's unbelievable chase run that he won the championship with.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: So again, I think we should be applauding it.
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: I think this is still the way to crown a champion.
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: Even if he wraps it up a race early, this just this just feels so much more authentic.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: And I feel like we can actually celebrate Kyle Larson as a champion versus last chase and and previous chases.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: They're all valid champions.
- 16:39SPEAKER_01: They all played the game as it had to be played, but this to me just feels so much better now that we're in the chase.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: I I think so too, and I think it just goes to prove that if you're very consistent and you outperform everyone, then you're rewarded.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: Now, I do have a question.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: Do you think that a regular season, you know, points run like Denny had, where he had such a commanding lead or Justin Algeyer had, or even Lane Riggs, where they had so many points and then it only gets cut to a 25-point lead?
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: Would you like to see that number increased so that the regular season actually means a little bit more once we get into the chase?
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: Because if we go down the numbers, Denny has lost a ton of points.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: Lane Riggs also lost a ton of points.
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: Justin Allguyer, he's still a little bit closer with Jesse Love, but both of those drivers saw a massive lead just evaporate.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: And a lot of it had to do with the reseeding that we had before this uh 10 race or seven race chase in the sense of the uh trucks.
- 17:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I wouldn't be opposed to seeing that number go up.
- 17:42SPEAKER_01: Um I think it's just it's interesting that the at the almost like a flip of a switch, the best title guys all of a sudden weren't.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: Um but if they moved that number to 30 or 40 or maybe even 50 in years to come, I wouldn't be against that.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: Um I think the regular season should account for something.
- 18:03SPEAKER_01: It should mean something significant.
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: Um and you know, of course, you're still gonna want to go for that number one seed.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: If they were to increase that number, I I think I'd be I'd be okay with that.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: I I mean I would I don't think I would want to go a full race.
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: Like I don't think you should get 75 points for finishing first over second place.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: I think that's a little outlandish, but I'm like you.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: I think a little bump to that to over 25, maybe even 45, 50 points, I think would be good because we've seen people score 50 plus points or gain 50 plus points on a competitor.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: And, you know, just a good example of this.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: Austin Cendrick was 15th when he came into the chase.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: He's now in eighth.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: He gained seven points.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: Joey Logano was also ranked ninth.
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: He has moved up four positions.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: He's in fifth.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: So we've seen guys be able to overcome massive point deficits, but if you're going on a generational run like Kyle Larson is right now, it's just not enough to keep up with the leader.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: And so I think this is still a story of Larson got hot at the right time, and he's just continuing to stack it up on the rest of the field.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: So that's really about all we have as we get ready to go into Martinsville.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: I mean, it I think it's going to be Kyle Larson's chase to win, and he could do it very early on in that race.
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: So we'll have to tune in and and see what happens.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: We'll all find out together.
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: But as we go to Pickham, we'll talk about someone who has already locked up their championship, and that's Andrew Curland, as I am mathematically eliminated from it.
- 19:32SPEAKER_00: There are no points that I can score that will get me a even a sniff to how many points that you have had.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: So uh hats off to you.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: You've done a spectacular job all year long with Pick'em and really kind of put me to shame.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: It's not really my best, uh, my best style of game, as as we've mentioned before on this show.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: I'm a little bit more predicated towards the matchups, and picking winners is just not good to me.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: Chase Elliott did not help you out with two points at Talladega.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: Um, but uh just a few more Martinsville notes.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: Just I'll go off the top of my head here.
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: Chase Elliott has had five straight top tens at Martinsville.
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: Joey Logano has finished in the top ten the last 14 Martinsville races.
- 20:12SPEAKER_01: So there could be some other drivers uh here playing spoiler.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: But getting back to pick them, David, I'll give you I can give you the first pick the next two weeks because I don't even think we're can pick the same guys because we're down to the end of the season.
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: Um, but who do you got for Martinsville?
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: Who have you saved for this second pick?
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: Well, I saved William Byron.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: I should have actually taken him last week like you advised me to do, but you know, I I didn't do that, didn't listen to reason.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: So uh I'll have William Byron for Martinsville.
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: He runs really well here.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: Uh hopefully the 24 car will be good to me.
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: I like a guy who has uh won this postseason race at Martinsville a handful of times, and that is Ryan Blaney.
- 20:55SPEAKER_01: I this was one of the first names that I wrote down for the whole season was pick Blaney at Martinsville too.
- 21:02SPEAKER_01: And so give me that Team Penske driver to uh be my second to last guy for Pickham.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: I like that.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: Blaney's been running really well.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: Um he had a shot at Talladega last week.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: He's had a couple of 30-place finishes, three of them to be exact, at Gateway.
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: He had the break failure at Bristol, he got wrecked by Carson Hosevar, and then he got wrecked at Talladega.
- 21:22SPEAKER_00: So none of those are part of his own doing.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: And before that, he had a rash of top fives: a fifth, a fifth, a third, and a second.
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: That was from Kansas, Vegas, Charlotte, and Phoenix.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: So he's running really, really well.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: It's just those big 30-place finishes just not helping out his championship cause.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: I mean, he's still not mathematically eliminated, but he's 107 points back.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: So very tough sledding ahead for the Penske 12 team.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's gonna be interesting to watch.
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: I uh again, I hope I hope Larson blows an engine, lap one.
- 21:58SPEAKER_01: Denny sweeps both the stages and wins the race, and then we'll have a real title fight on our hands.
- 22:05SPEAKER_01: Um so all we can do is cross our fingers there.
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: But if Larson locks it up, congratulations to him.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: Um Cliff Daniels, I think, said it best, and I know you mentioned it on Fast Talk.
- 22:16SPEAKER_01: It's that uh, you know, uh smooth sailing doesn't make a good sailor, you know, and they have fought through adversity this season.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: They had a winless streak for a while, they had to bounce back after Phoenix, and if that's the story of the five team this year, congratulations to them and hats off to them.
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: Soon to be our newest three-time champion, I think Kyle Larson will be.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: I'm kind of like you, it feels funny to go ahead and crown someone this earlier, but it it's it's looking more and more like it is Kyle Larson's year.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: And I know we've said that about multiple guys before, but it's just how the uh cookie crumbles, I guess you could say.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: So it's all about growing that bankroll, having some fun.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: We didn't do too hot last week.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: I know I only hit the one overtime bet, but hey, I was right about that.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: We didn't have double-digit cautions either, which I thought was a uh a relief.
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: And I thought the Talladago race was pretty spectacular.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: Now we go to another short track.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: We'll go to Martinsville and the Xfinity 500.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: Really love this racetrack, and it's just a great time of season to go up there to Virginia, and we'll see if Kyle Larson can shore it up.
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: Denny Hamlin, like Andrew said, he's 73 points behind him.
- 23:24SPEAKER_00: That's really about the line of demarcation.
- 23:26SPEAKER_00: I think from Briscoe on up, it's Briscoe, Bell, Hamlin, and Larson.
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: That's your top four.
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: I think those four guys, the champion, will come out of there.
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: I hate to say it, but my Logano futures bet doesn't look too good.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: And uh Blaney, he's he's 107 back.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm gonna go ahead and write Tyler Redick off.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: He's not good at short tracks, so I think you can go ahead and put a fork in him.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: So hopefully you can take some of this information and apply it to the bets that you're looking at.
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: Do some props, have some fun.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: Remember to invest wisely.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: It it is gambling, so it's not a sure thing.
- 23:55SPEAKER_00: And hope that you're just having a lot of fun.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: We'll talk again next week for Andrew Curlin.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: I'm David Stiles.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: Thanks for stopping by, Racer's Odds.
