- 0:11Speaker 3: The air well, It's back control the.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Live from the Raising Kine Studio. It's Off the Bench.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Welcome back in our number three.
- 0:28Speaker 4: Here on a Friday edition of Off the Bench, Taylor
- 0:30Speaker 4: Sharp filling in for Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn. The
- 0:33Speaker 4: whole crew is gone minus me. We are here with
- 0:36Speaker 4: you on Friday. We got Jordan Kitchens, Braxton Risuto along
- 0:40Speaker 4: for the ride as well. We have been NFL Draft
- 0:43Speaker 4: heavy today, rightfully, so the first round wrapped up last night.
- 0:47Speaker 4: The New Orleans Saints have a brand new weapon for
- 0:51Speaker 4: Tyler Shuck and someone who I imagine is gonna have
- 0:53Speaker 4: a lot of thoughts on that is our guy, Devin
- 0:55Speaker 4: snow aka hold the Mayo, joining us right now.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Dev. How you doing this morning?
- 1:01Speaker 5: Doing good man?
- 1:01Speaker 6: How y'all making up with everybody at UH?
- 1:04Speaker 4: Jake is at the draft, Alandra is going to Starkville
- 1:07Speaker 4: to help Hunt with the baseball series. I actually don't
- 1:10Speaker 4: know where Matt Flynn is. I just know he's not here,
- 1:12Speaker 4: So we're.
- 1:13Speaker 6: Uh flynd win a golf tournament.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Uh, I don't believe.
- 1:18Speaker 6: So.
- 1:18Speaker 4: I saw a picture of him and he was scowling,
- 1:20Speaker 4: so it didn't look like it went too.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Well for him.
- 1:22Speaker 4: But uh uh yeah he's out here. I mean, look,
- 1:25Speaker 4: I was on vacation Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. I come back.
- 1:28Speaker 4: They all ditch me on a Friday. I guess that's
- 1:30Speaker 4: just that's how it works. Maybe it's maybe it's my fault,
- 1:34Speaker 4: but uh that the the Saints got a brand nu'd pick.
- 1:37Speaker 4: They pick at number eight overall, they go Arizona state
- 1:40Speaker 4: wide receiver Jordan Tyson. Look, when healthy, great pick. That's
- 1:44Speaker 4: the thing. When healthy. He's going through a pluthora of
- 1:47Speaker 4: injuries in college. What would like when I look at this, Like,
- 1:51Speaker 4: if I was telling Jordan earlier, if I did this
- 1:53Speaker 4: show last night, I probably would have got on here
- 1:56Speaker 4: and bashed it and said I don't like the pick.
- 1:57Speaker 4: But the more I said on it, I'm like, you
- 1:59Speaker 4: know what, when healthy, this guy's really good. I hope
- 2:01Speaker 4: the Saints did their dude diligence. What is your overall
- 2:04Speaker 4: thoughts on Tyson.
- 2:05Speaker 3: At eight overall?
- 2:06Speaker 6: Well, the first thing you got to remember is the
- 2:08Speaker 6: biggest takeaway from Tyler Shuck last year when you watched
- 2:12Speaker 6: him was that he elevates the team. Yep, all right,
- 2:15Speaker 6: we can't forget that. Okay, that means that if the
- 2:18Speaker 6: dude was working at Jimmy Johns a couple of days
- 2:20Speaker 6: before and he comes and plays receiver for the Saints,
- 2:23Speaker 6: guess what boom? His name is Ronnie Bell and he's
- 2:27Speaker 6: catching one handed touchdowns against the Falcons at the end
- 2:31Speaker 6: of why, because Tyler Shuck elevates everybody. It don't matter. Now, okay,
- 2:36Speaker 6: fast forward till last night. This is a serious talent
- 2:40Speaker 6: at receiver. Now, obviously it's the whole like, oh, can
- 2:43Speaker 6: he stay healthy? But if he's on the field, if
- 2:47Speaker 6: he's on the field, we just cashed in another weapon.
- 2:51Speaker 6: It's that simple. Tyler Shuck gonna get him the ball.
- 2:54Speaker 6: If Tyler Shuck can get Ronnie Bell to the ball,
- 2:57Speaker 6: what makes you think he can't get Jordan's Tyson the ball?
- 3:00Speaker 6: So be happy in that. Oh, be happy as well
- 3:03Speaker 6: that the Saints didn't draft Alignment because guess what they
- 3:06Speaker 6: could have did that? You know, so there's other ways
- 3:09Speaker 6: where I basically what I'm telling you is I can't
- 3:11Speaker 6: hate the pick right that I want Dams. Of course
- 3:14Speaker 6: I wanted Downs. I definitely want to Damns. I knew
- 3:16Speaker 6: if we didn't draft them, the cowgirls were going to
- 3:18Speaker 6: get them. But you know, it didn't work out that way,
- 3:20Speaker 6: and we got a playmaker, which I remember for months
- 3:23Speaker 6: and months people talking about what they wanted. They wanted
- 3:25Speaker 6: the playmaker. Well here he is.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Yeah, and you know, like you just mentioned, when he's
- 3:32Speaker 4: on the field, he's stuff like that.
- 3:34Speaker 3: That's the thing. This is going to be an availability pick.
- 3:36Speaker 4: Like I was thinking earlier, You're going to look back
- 3:38Speaker 4: this on a year and for now and be like, hey,
- 3:40Speaker 4: Jordan Tyson was healthy and nailed the pick, or Jordan
- 3:42Speaker 4: Tyson was sidelined with injuries. I don't know how I
- 3:45Speaker 4: feel about it, but like the talents are there, like
- 3:47Speaker 4: far and away in my opinion, best receiver in the draft.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Like I did not want Carnel Tate. I would have
- 3:52Speaker 4: been dissatisfied with that. I think this ceiling's high enough
- 3:55Speaker 4: with a guy like Jordan Tysons. Okay, you get your
- 3:58Speaker 4: pass catcher in round one. I broke it down a
- 4:01Speaker 4: little bit earlier. There's a lot of talent still left
- 4:04Speaker 4: at corner at Edge Rauser. I mean, you got some
- 4:07Speaker 4: guards a little bit later in the draft if you're
- 4:09Speaker 4: trying to find a Caesar Ruez replacement. I mean, the
- 4:12Speaker 4: Saints can go a lot of different directions here today
- 4:14Speaker 4: in realms two and three. What would you like to
- 4:16Speaker 4: see them do?
- 4:18Speaker 6: Yeah? Man, talk man, I think the second round is
- 4:24Speaker 6: the most mysterious round for the Saints, right because, dude,
- 4:28Speaker 6: they literally could draft all right. So they tould you've
- 4:31Speaker 6: heard a lot of talks about running back. They love
- 4:32Speaker 6: the dude out of Arkansas, Mike Washington.
- 4:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:36Speaker 6: Yeah, so you could see something like that. You could
- 4:39Speaker 6: see him drafting out the receive. I don't think that
- 4:41Speaker 6: the Saints are just gonna draft one receiver as draft.
- 4:44Speaker 6: I could definitely see him draft in two for sure.
- 4:48Speaker 6: I'm not set at linebacker, right, so you know when
- 4:52Speaker 6: I see a guy like Anthony Hill Junior, It's like, dude,
- 4:55Speaker 6: if he's down, you got to consider taking him, because
- 4:59Speaker 6: I mean, do you really believe that your linebacker? I mean,
- 5:02Speaker 6: kaytan Ellis signing was great, but do you believe that
- 5:04Speaker 6: you had the linebackers in the room for that? I
- 5:07Speaker 6: don't know, man, Like, do you want to see Jalen
- 5:09Speaker 6: Ford play again, I'm not not extensively good. Yeah, it's
- 5:13Speaker 6: just not that good. So they could look at linebacker.
- 5:16Speaker 6: I mean, of course, corner there there's a couple of
- 5:18Speaker 6: good corners out there. Going back to linebacker real quick,
- 5:21Speaker 6: did kid Jacob Rodriguez?
- 5:23Speaker 3: Yeah, that would.
- 5:24Speaker 6: Be a great piece. So I don't know, man, I
- 5:26Speaker 6: feel like the second round is pretty stacked.
- 5:28Speaker 4: You know, we we were talking about it a little
- 5:30Speaker 4: bit in Hour number one because leading up to the draft,
- 5:32Speaker 4: the thought was, hey, the Saints, you kind of sitting
- 5:35Speaker 4: pretty at number eight. They have their quarterback, like they
- 5:37Speaker 4: all most can't mess up this first round pick. I
- 5:40Speaker 4: gotta be honest with you, Dev I kind of feel
- 5:42Speaker 4: that way about the second round pick. I mean, look,
- 5:45Speaker 4: because we were just talking about it, all those positions
- 5:48Speaker 4: of need, like you're going to be better with grabbing
- 5:51Speaker 4: one of these guys, all of those guys you just
- 5:53Speaker 4: threw out there seem like day one starters. Like I
- 5:55Speaker 4: think the Saints are sitting pretty at forty two.
- 5:58Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm that's why just set the drafted two rounds Like,
- 6:02Speaker 6: I really think that people could get through that fine,
- 6:05Speaker 6: you know what I'm saying. Because the second round, especially
- 6:07Speaker 6: this year, is just as important as the first round.
- 6:10Speaker 6: It just is. I mean, it's that much talent in it,
- 6:12Speaker 6: you know. And then you got a couple of teams
- 6:15Speaker 6: that are picking dudes way early. You know, like look
- 6:18Speaker 6: at Conception on last night, like he was projecting most
- 6:21Speaker 6: of the draft process in the second round. Dude Cleveland
- 6:25Speaker 6: was like, hey, this guy. You know what I'm saying,
- 6:27Speaker 6: like we can't let this guy go. I really need
- 6:29Speaker 6: this dude. So, I don't know, there's certain guys I
- 6:32Speaker 6: feel like even in the second round teams are gonna
- 6:34Speaker 6: reach for, you know, so they have to see the
- 6:36Speaker 6: Saints take I don't know, like trade into the second
- 6:40Speaker 6: round again, you know, maybe two times in the second round.
- 6:42Speaker 6: I don't know. There's a lot of talent there. Though.
- 6:45Speaker 4: You were talking about teams taking guys early. Caleb Banks
- 6:48Speaker 4: at nineteen to the Vikings was not on my BEINGO
- 6:51Speaker 4: card there in the first round, but whatever, And you know,
- 6:53Speaker 4: speaking of that, like I look at at every first
- 6:56Speaker 4: round and I like to say, okay, who absolutely nailed
- 6:59Speaker 4: their first round pick. Who comes out of this kind
- 7:01Speaker 4: of looking like an idiot? Like is there a winner
- 7:03Speaker 4: or a loser for you? In round one.
- 7:05Speaker 6: I think the Jets are still insane. I just do
- 7:09Speaker 6: they just they always do something crazy, man, Like the
- 7:13Speaker 6: Sadiq thing is is wild to me because you just
- 7:16Speaker 6: drafted Mason Taylor, so now they go and get Sadiq.
- 7:18Speaker 6: I mean, I guess they get as many weapons as
- 7:20Speaker 6: they can for who you know what?
- 7:22Speaker 4: Right, Like my point was you traded back up to
- 7:25Speaker 4: get a third first round pick. The Jets were drafting
- 7:28Speaker 4: like they were contenders, but you're the Jets don't have
- 7:32Speaker 4: Geno Smith, so like, what the hell are we doing?
- 7:34Speaker 6: Yeah, it's weird. And then of course, like the whole
- 7:37Speaker 6: Ty Simpson thing. Bro, you know, I've never seen something
- 7:41Speaker 6: so similar marketing pushwise to the WWE than Ty Simpson.
- 7:47Speaker 6: I'm sorry, bro, Like, if you don't, if you don't
- 7:49Speaker 6: realize that that stuff was pumped, like there was money
- 7:53Speaker 6: behind that, I mean, the whole thing, man, Like they
- 7:56Speaker 6: have not mentioned one time all the time talking about Simpson.
- 8:01Speaker 6: The facts. The facts are the last time the dude played,
- 8:04Speaker 6: he didn't just get pulled at the game. They absolutely
- 8:08Speaker 6: had to pull him. They couldn't take another play, that's
- 8:11Speaker 6: how bad it was.
- 8:12Speaker 7: Yep.
- 8:13Speaker 6: Okay, So I don't understand the height for Ty Simpson whatsoever.
- 8:17Speaker 6: I don't even understand the height for like, Okay, he'll
- 8:19Speaker 6: be good in two years, three years, whatever. I just
- 8:22Speaker 6: don't understand it. Dude, to menus, is just as good
- 8:24Speaker 6: as a quarterback. And if you really want to take
- 8:26Speaker 6: it a step further, talk about somebody at the RAMS
- 8:29Speaker 6: had in the past. I think Stetson Bennett just as
- 8:31Speaker 6: good as a quarterback. So I really don't get it
- 8:33Speaker 6: at all. That's a huge surprise from that.
- 8:35Speaker 4: So it's funny you say that I was driving in
- 8:37Speaker 4: this morning, and you know, sometimes I listened to the
- 8:39Speaker 4: National Show. They brought up that less Sneed is really
- 8:44Speaker 4: close to Simpson's dad, who's a former coach and actually
- 8:47Speaker 4: was one of the advisors of Ty Simpson to like
- 8:50Speaker 4: let him know whether he should stay in school for
- 8:52Speaker 4: an extra year yep, or go to the NFL. And
- 8:54Speaker 4: then he drafts him and then McVeigh does not look
- 8:57Speaker 4: happy in the press conference. Like I understand the Rams
- 8:59Speaker 4: normally nail their draft picks and like they do a
- 9:02Speaker 4: really good job, but that one's a head scratch.
- 9:05Speaker 6: Yeah, And it's just like, dude, they were just so
- 9:07Speaker 6: set on this. Dude, go on in the first round
- 9:10Speaker 6: when I don't know, I just feel like even the
- 9:12Speaker 6: casual football watching those like that just shouldn't have been
- 9:15Speaker 6: just shouldn't have been. It just didn't make any sense. Man,
- 9:18Speaker 6: another good another kind of surprised him fall, and this
- 9:23Speaker 6: fall was the Makayle Lemon and he goes.
- 9:25Speaker 4: To the Eagles, which also don't really get. Like me
- 9:29Speaker 4: and Jordan were talking about this a little bit earlier,
- 9:30Speaker 4: like let's say you do trade AJ Brown, you still
- 9:33Speaker 4: have DeVante Smith, Dontavian Wicks, Hollywood Brown, like you have
- 9:37Speaker 4: all these weapons you traded up to go get Kaylelemon,
- 9:41Speaker 4: like great player.
- 9:42Speaker 3: It was just it was kind of a luxury pick
- 9:44Speaker 3: for me.
- 9:45Speaker 6: Yeah, but you know with the A. J. Brown de Passe,
- 9:48Speaker 6: it's gonna I do think Mkaylemon is gonna be good. Yeah,
- 9:52Speaker 6: I think you got to say him on TV all
- 9:54Speaker 6: was making plays, you know, the way that the NFL
- 9:56Speaker 6: receivers on Now look at the pook and the coups
- 9:58Speaker 6: and stuff like that. So and then the cowgirls last
- 10:01Speaker 6: thing to Colegirls. I don't understand the twenty third pick
- 10:04Speaker 6: at all. I don't even.
- 10:07Speaker 3: Lawrence.
- 10:08Speaker 6: Yeah, I feel like that was a huge reach. Huh.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean he's a guy.
- 10:11Speaker 4: He was probably projected hell right around where the Saints
- 10:14Speaker 4: were picking at forty two. Like I like the player,
- 10:17Speaker 4: it just yeah, I don't. I don't know if I
- 10:19Speaker 4: love him. At twenty three. Now they did trade back,
- 10:21Speaker 4: so not not quite as bad. But yeah, that's a
- 10:25Speaker 4: reach as well. Dev you were talking just a second ago.
- 10:27Speaker 4: This is perfect. You mentioned that Ty Simpson's hype was
- 10:31Speaker 4: ww E esque. I know you came on with us
- 10:34Speaker 4: last week. You said you were done with Wrestle Maine.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Be honest. Did you watch it?
- 10:39Speaker 6: Well? I watched, Yeah, I did.
- 10:41Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 10:41Speaker 4: I said, look, I saw the tweets yesterday. I was like,
- 10:43Speaker 4: we're gonna get him, We're gonna get him. I saw
- 10:45Speaker 4: the Wrestlemerr tweets.
- 10:47Speaker 6: I did. But I mean I found the loophole. You
- 10:49Speaker 6: know what I'm saying. I definitely stutch to my guns
- 10:51Speaker 6: and did not. I'm not given ESPN thirty dollars a
- 10:54Speaker 6: month or nothing like that. I went to direct TV.
- 10:56Speaker 6: You got a five day free trial, and they gave
- 10:59Speaker 6: me access to yes Span unlimited. The second day, it
- 11:02Speaker 6: was the first hour was on ESPN regular, So I
- 11:05Speaker 6: watched that on the ESPN regular Look, dude, long story short, bro,
- 11:09Speaker 6: that was a that was a full out of ten.
- 11:12Speaker 6: That's what I give it, full out of ten.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Okay, I mean that that's that's kind of about the
- 11:18Speaker 4: consensus that I've seen.
- 11:19Speaker 3: I did not watch.
- 11:21Speaker 6: There's a lot that goes into us, right, And Jordan
- 11:24Speaker 6: was that we witnessed the rock. They walked them out,
- 11:31Speaker 6: so the block is hot. He announced that WrestleMania was
- 11:34Speaker 6: coming to New Orleans. We sat right in front of him.
- 11:36Speaker 6: He talked about all their history of New Orleans and wrestling,
- 11:38Speaker 6: blah blah blah blah blah, and yeah, we never got
- 11:41Speaker 6: an explanation on why they pulled it. We know why
- 11:44Speaker 6: they did because they slam balls and they all about money.
- 11:48Speaker 6: But but but they never gave us that explanation. And
- 11:51Speaker 6: lord Lord behore, they're gonna bring the little JANKI product
- 11:55Speaker 6: down here for money in the bank, and I prayed
- 11:57Speaker 6: it I get them. They may not approved me because
- 12:00Speaker 6: they go look at tweets and stuff, but I pray
- 12:02Speaker 6: that I get that needy access because I'm going straight
- 12:04Speaker 6: to Triple H and I'm finding out the answer.
- 12:07Speaker 4: Dude, this is ridiculous, So it was it was Vegas, right,
- 12:09Speaker 4: dev Yeah, Vegas.
- 12:11Speaker 3: That's the thing. Like, look, I've been to Vegas.
- 12:14Speaker 4: I like Vegas, and for the longest time, everybody's like, oh,
- 12:16Speaker 4: it's stupid they don't have a franchise. But like now
- 12:19Speaker 4: I think it's it's almost the reverse, Like Vegas is
- 12:21Speaker 4: being pushed down our throats like so hard, whether it's
- 12:23Speaker 4: it's a draft every new team WrestleMania, Like, I get it.
- 12:27Speaker 4: Vegas is a fun place, but like, can't we mix
- 12:29Speaker 4: it up a little bit?
- 12:30Speaker 6: Well, what have we learned about pushes the last few months?
- 12:33Speaker 6: You know, pushes are different pushes used to be they
- 12:36Speaker 6: pushed you for different reasons. Blah blah blah blah blah. Okay, Now,
- 12:40Speaker 6: if somebody's getting pushed or something's getting pushed, that means
- 12:43Speaker 6: it's not doing good. So whether it's WWE, whether it's
- 12:47Speaker 6: Ty Simpson or Las Vegas, that means that they need
- 12:51Speaker 6: to push. They not just pushing casually. They need to push.
- 12:54Speaker 6: Vegas is dying.
- 12:56Speaker 4: DEV is a transitioning from last weekend WrestleMania. This weekend,
- 13:01Speaker 4: it's busy over there in New Orleans. You take it
- 13:04Speaker 4: in any jazz Fest.
- 13:06Speaker 6: Yeah, I went to jazz Fest yesterday. Yeah, dude, that
- 13:09Speaker 6: son as the closest I've ever been to the sun Dude.
- 13:12Speaker 6: That son was so bad. Dude, it was like and
- 13:16Speaker 6: I and you know, I put a boohoo sunscreen on
- 13:18Speaker 6: and everything. It was still all over me, man. But yeah,
- 13:21Speaker 6: I went there, spent the data. I'm gonna go to
- 13:24Speaker 6: Zurich tomorrow. I gotta add it today. I gotta take
- 13:26Speaker 6: a day to add.
- 13:26Speaker 4: It, so do Okay, So you see you are going
- 13:29Speaker 4: to the Zurich tomorrow. You know, I have like been
- 13:33Speaker 4: offered Zurich tickets three years in a row now on
- 13:36Speaker 4: like the Saturday Sunday. Have yet to be able to go,
- 13:38Speaker 4: like I always have. I always have something coming up,
- 13:41Speaker 4: so I cannot make it out there.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Is this your first Zurrich? I imagine you've been before, right?
- 13:45Speaker 6: Oh no, Yeah, I've been going to Zerk since I
- 13:47Speaker 6: was a kid. But you know, the Zerik is not
- 13:48Speaker 6: like it's a huge network and that's all it is.
- 13:51Speaker 6: It's it's a social event. Nobody watches any golf and
- 13:56Speaker 6: you basically just get drunk and eat you know, little
- 14:00Speaker 6: golf food, you little golf.
- 14:02Speaker 4: That's how I imagine like outside the Masters, most golf tournaments,
- 14:06Speaker 4: I'm not a huge golfer, Like I watched the Masters
- 14:09Speaker 4: every year, you know, because it's a big spectacle. I've
- 14:11Speaker 4: never been to an actual golf tournament. I'm glad you
- 14:13Speaker 4: just confirmed it for years. That's exactly what I thought
- 14:16Speaker 4: the Zurich would be.
- 14:17Speaker 6: Yeah, and look that's Desseri. That's and especially this year.
- 14:20Speaker 6: I mean they really they don't have many big names.
- 14:24Speaker 6: I think it's Brooks Kapka and uh Shane Lowry other
- 14:27Speaker 6: two big names. But you know, if I could go
- 14:30Speaker 6: to Waste Management in Arizona, then we talking. You know,
- 14:34Speaker 6: it's just a whole different type bout have Masters.
- 14:36Speaker 4: I'd love to go to the Masters, Dude, the Waste
- 14:38Speaker 4: Management open. You get to boo them if they hit
- 14:39Speaker 4: a bad shot, Like, I'm all for that. That That's
- 14:42Speaker 4: what I'm there for. We need we need more hackling
- 14:44Speaker 4: and golf, all right, dev Look, it looks like you
- 14:46Speaker 4: got a busy weekend ahead of you. Hopefully, uh the
- 14:49Speaker 4: Saints don't give you uh some uh hot blood pressure
- 14:52Speaker 4: these next few days. As far as their draft picks,
- 14:54Speaker 4: everything goes smoothly. Thanks for hopping on with us today.
- 14:57Speaker 6: Man, I right, I'll take care.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Yeah, that was Devin's no aka hold de Mayo.
- 15:01Speaker 4: You can find them on Twitter snow Like John, We're
- 15:04Speaker 4: going to take a quick time out when we get back.
- 15:06Speaker 4: Some more LSU Tigers are waiting for their names to
- 15:09Speaker 4: be called in the NFL draft. We'll break down a
- 15:12Speaker 4: few of them that, uh, I think could maybe really
- 15:14Speaker 4: surprise some people where they may go, what their future
- 15:16Speaker 4: in the NFL could look like.
- 15:18Speaker 3: We're breaking all that down next. You're on off the bench.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Off the bench, all right?
- 15:23Speaker 5: Maybe, uh we talked about yesterday. It's nearly cannonball season
- 15:27Speaker 5: or jackknife season or dive season, whatever you want to do.
- 15:29Speaker 5: And if you don't have that pool in your backyard, well,
- 15:33Speaker 5: now's the time to get that conversation started with Russell
- 15:35Speaker 5: Pools dot com, the best in the business, the best
- 15:37Speaker 5: in the business when it comes to that custom pool.
- 15:40Speaker 5: Maybe after hearing Doc talk, you got a little injury
- 15:44Speaker 5: and you want to be like maybe the LSU Tigers
- 15:47Speaker 5: and gets you a little hot tub, cold tub, get
- 15:50Speaker 5: a little uh you know, that little rehab that therapy
- 15:53Speaker 5: pool situation going. They can literally do anything. They can
- 15:56Speaker 5: make a lazy river. They can make a grotto, maybe
- 15:59Speaker 5: a fire your feature or hey, whatever it is, whatever
- 16:02Speaker 5: the budget is. They can make a square pool, kidney
- 16:04Speaker 5: Bean shaped circle pool, it doesn't really matter.
- 16:07Speaker 3: And Landre loves a little dippy pool. Yeah, so whatever
- 16:11Speaker 3: it is.
- 16:12Speaker 5: Go to their website Russellpools dot com. You can see
- 16:14Speaker 5: their gallery where you can see literally everything they can
- 16:16Speaker 5: do to landscape. Architects on staff right there, so they
- 16:19Speaker 5: can take your dream to reality Russell Pools dot com.
- 16:28Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Blocked in on LSU Football twenty four to seven. You're
- 16:35Speaker 1: listening to Off the Bench.
- 16:38Speaker 7: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 16:48Speaker 4: All right, welcome back in our number three here on
- 16:50Speaker 4: a Friday edition of Off the Bench. Just a few
- 16:52Speaker 4: more segments to go here as we are working towards
- 16:56Speaker 4: the weekend.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Actually we got a long day to day.
- 16:59Speaker 4: We got we got hunt in Starkville, we got moscona
- 17:03Speaker 4: out at Zurich. Like nobody gonna be in this building today.
- 17:06Speaker 4: It's a double. It's a Friday double for us here today.
- 17:09Speaker 4: Fellas excited. Well I can't. I can't complain as much.
- 17:15Speaker 4: Look I was, I was out all week. It's it's
- 17:19Speaker 4: some give and take, right, Yeah, people had to cover
- 17:21Speaker 4: for me the last three days. I can cover for
- 17:23Speaker 4: somebody on a Friday, not an issue. And we we
- 17:27Speaker 4: excited because the NFL Draft rounds two through seven from
- 17:31Speaker 4: UH today starting today into Saturday, all Saturday afternoon. I
- 17:35Speaker 4: love the rounds four through seven. Well yeah, yeah, the
- 17:40Speaker 4: Mike Grabel rounds. Me and Hi, we're gonna be taken
- 17:42Speaker 4: in the UH. We're both gonna be on the couch.
- 17:45Speaker 4: I love it because, like you'll have a stud get
- 17:47Speaker 4: drafted and there's like a Papa's Chicken commercial or like
- 17:50Speaker 4: a Raisin Canes commercial or something, you know, something something
- 17:53Speaker 4: going on, and it's just like a name at the
- 17:54Speaker 4: bottom of the screen, like it was it was Yo Kids,
- 17:59Speaker 4: Taco Bell, Yoki's drafted.
- 18:00Speaker 3: They're the tuck About commercial.
- 18:02Speaker 4: I just like it because like every thirty seconds there's
- 18:05Speaker 4: like three picks just firing off, Like I love I
- 18:07Speaker 4: just sit there and read it at the bottom of
- 18:08Speaker 4: the screen.
- 18:09Speaker 8: I say this. Can I say this because you just
- 18:10Speaker 8: what it is? Yeah?
- 18:11Speaker 2: Well, because he just brought up a great point. How
- 18:13Speaker 2: you said there's just firing picks off, right, yep? Can
- 18:16Speaker 2: we talk about how egregious it is that the number
- 18:19Speaker 2: one pick gets eight minutes on the clock.
- 18:22Speaker 8: Right, the Raiders had eight minutes.
- 18:24Speaker 3: You knew who you're taking?
- 18:25Speaker 8: What why did the Raiders need a bro?
- 18:28Speaker 3: You see that Cardinals pick at three?
- 18:30Speaker 8: Yeah, it ain't need a little bit more.
- 18:31Speaker 3: I didn't think they were gonna get it in.
- 18:33Speaker 4: It was about twenty five seconds something that clock, a
- 18:35Speaker 4: little more time, and then they were like, pick us in.
- 18:37Speaker 8: I was like, all right, panic, the first ten was
- 18:39Speaker 8: like that. It was they were going through fad.
- 18:41Speaker 3: I got it.
- 18:41Speaker 4: I gotta tell you, I think the whole first round
- 18:43Speaker 4: went quick. It was over fourteen o'clock. Normally it's like
- 18:45Speaker 4: normally mattered. Normally it's like ten forty five.
- 18:48Speaker 6: Right.
- 18:48Speaker 2: And before the draft, man, I just I just wasn't
- 18:51Speaker 2: I didn't agree with you know, starting off the draft
- 18:53Speaker 2: Raiders eight minutes.
- 18:54Speaker 8: I'm like, dude, they did know they were drafting Mendoza.
- 18:56Speaker 4: Six months a. Yeah, they decided this months ago, Like
- 18:58Speaker 4: can we just turn it in the pick?
- 19:00Speaker 8: Literally, you could just.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Turn on the ben start with the Jets.
- 19:03Speaker 8: That's what I was.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Just start at number two.
- 19:05Speaker 2: The NFL draft is open, rates select friend Mendoza. Now
- 19:08Speaker 2: a draft begins, you know, done.
- 19:10Speaker 8: What does he drove down to the minutes, Like I
- 19:12Speaker 8: guess as rounds go on.
- 19:13Speaker 2: I think he should be five minutes at first, get
- 19:16Speaker 2: you get less time as it goes on.
- 19:18Speaker 8: So it was like eight, it's like eight.
- 19:20Speaker 4: Then I think it's five, and then it's I think
- 19:23Speaker 4: it's I think it's five the rest of the the
- 19:24Speaker 4: rest of the draft. But uh, speaking of the draft,
- 19:27Speaker 4: some l SHU Tigers waiting for their name to be
- 19:29Speaker 4: called as man Sword delaying the loan L s U
- 19:32Speaker 4: Tiger to be drafted in round one not a huge surprise.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Everyone kind of expected this.
- 19:36Speaker 8: You know.
- 19:37Speaker 4: The talk now goes to who's going to be the
- 19:39Speaker 4: next LSU player to hear his name called.
- 19:42Speaker 3: I think it's gotta be a J. Halsey.
- 19:44Speaker 4: And this is a guy as talented as anybody out there,
- 19:47Speaker 4: And like, you know, we set up here and I
- 19:50Speaker 4: talked about it, Jake talked about it, Matt talked about
- 19:52Speaker 4: it as far as what he needed to run at
- 19:54Speaker 4: the combine, and our thought was he runs mid four five,
- 19:58Speaker 4: He's he's going to be a high draft pick. Here's
- 20:00Speaker 4: a four to five to two, so right right where
- 20:02Speaker 4: he needs to run. Look, he's big, he's physical in
- 20:06Speaker 4: my opinion, he is a Day one starter in the NFL.
- 20:09Speaker 4: I just don't think there's anything aj Halsey can't do.
- 20:11Speaker 4: He can play up close with the line of scrimmage,
- 20:13Speaker 4: he can cover deep. He's big, he's strong, he's fast.
- 20:16Speaker 4: I think he'll have his name called early in round two.
- 20:18Speaker 4: I mean I think I think he's a top fifty pick.
- 20:21Speaker 6: I don't.
- 20:22Speaker 3: I don't think he'd get past fifty.
- 20:24Speaker 4: Maybe I'm wrong, Maybe maybe he will, But I think
- 20:27Speaker 4: aj Halsey, I think teams are gonna value his versatility,
- 20:30Speaker 4: his size, his speed. He can do a lot for
- 20:34Speaker 4: a football team. I mean, yes, man, Sword Delane got
- 20:37Speaker 4: all the headlines this year. He was your best player
- 20:38Speaker 4: on defense. Your second best player on defense las year
- 20:41Speaker 4: was aj Halsey. I don't think anybody's going to argue
- 20:43Speaker 4: that he was one of the highest PFF grated players
- 20:46Speaker 4: last year on your team. He was a stunt. I
- 20:48Speaker 4: mean he and Tamarcus Cooley back there like that, going
- 20:52Speaker 4: back to Todd Benefield. That's why I was so excited
- 20:54Speaker 4: when unless you signed Tdd Benefield. And again it wasn't
- 20:56Speaker 4: because oh there's a huge need here. I think there's
- 21:00Speaker 4: sewn Spears probably could have held it down there in
- 21:02Speaker 4: the back end if he needed to. I like him
- 21:04Speaker 4: better at Star, which is where he's at now, But
- 21:07Speaker 4: you don't just replace an Aj Halsey. And then when
- 21:10Speaker 4: I saw them bring in Todd Benefield, I'm like, heck,
- 21:12Speaker 4: this guy's a player he's started multiple years in college football.
- 21:16Speaker 4: He kind of reminds me of an Aj Halsey. And
- 21:18Speaker 4: I know that the duo of Halsey and Cooley was
- 21:21Speaker 4: so good a year ago. I expect the same from
- 21:23Speaker 4: Cooley in Benefield. I think the Todd Bennifield is that
- 21:26Speaker 4: type of player. So that's why I've kind of been
- 21:29Speaker 4: on the Tide Bennifield hype train for quite some time now.
- 21:32Speaker 4: So I think he's probably the next player selected. Aaron
- 21:37Speaker 4: Anderson will go at some point, maybe maybe not reunds
- 21:40Speaker 4: two and three.
- 21:41Speaker 3: He may go round four.
- 21:43Speaker 4: You know, he's a guy coming into this season, had
- 21:45Speaker 4: a lot of hype runding. The offense was atrocious, he
- 21:47Speaker 4: dealt with injuries a lot.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Of the season. It happens.
- 21:51Speaker 4: But Aaron Anderson, I mean, you know, not a physically
- 21:53Speaker 4: imposing player, but he's a guy that he just makes plays.
- 21:56Speaker 4: I mean that that's what Aaron Anderson does. He was
- 21:58Speaker 4: kind of Garrett Nelsmeyer's safety blanket two years ago. It
- 22:01Speaker 4: was Mason Taylor and it was Aaron Anderson. I mean
- 22:04Speaker 4: on third down, fourth down, gotta have it plays. Those
- 22:07Speaker 4: are the two guys he went to, and Aaron Anderson
- 22:10Speaker 4: delivered more times than not. I think he's going to
- 22:12Speaker 4: be a solid pro. I think he's I think he's
- 22:14Speaker 4: I think he's gonna have a decently long NFL career.
- 22:16Speaker 4: I think whoever drafts Aaron Anderson is going to be
- 22:19Speaker 4: surprised by his versatility what he could do for an offense.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Not not sure he gets drafted today, but there's a
- 22:26Speaker 4: chance there's a chance Garrett Nolsemier goes today. I mean,
- 22:29Speaker 4: I know a lot of people were saying, oh, he's
- 22:30Speaker 4: a six round pig.
- 22:31Speaker 3: He's terrible.
- 22:32Speaker 4: I understand how lsu fens feel. Going into last season.
- 22:36Speaker 4: Everybody was like, Garrettlsmeyer's a lock to go first round again.
- 22:39Speaker 4: Battle do injuries. We know about the syst on the
- 22:41Speaker 4: spine now that really hampered his ability to throw the football.
- 22:45Speaker 4: Bad offensive line in front of him, like someone's getting
- 22:49Speaker 4: a steal talents that like, yeah, he was hurt last year,
- 22:52Speaker 4: but it wasn't just that he's playing hurt. Bad offensive line,
- 22:58Speaker 4: no running game, and offensive coordinator that refused for whatever
- 23:01Speaker 4: reason to attack the middle of the field. I mean
- 23:04Speaker 4: it was screen city over here, and it wasn't even
- 23:06Speaker 4: ran correctly. I mean, you get Matt Flynn on an
- 23:09Speaker 4: hour long tangent on that, and he obviously took a
- 23:12Speaker 4: step back. But what quarterback wouldn't like when you add
- 23:16Speaker 4: all that up, when you add up the injury, the
- 23:18Speaker 4: bad offensive line, the lack of a running game, the
- 23:22Speaker 4: lack of an offensive coordinator that'll call downfield passes, what
- 23:26Speaker 4: quarterback's not going to strug like? That's a serious question,
- 23:30Speaker 4: because I'm I can't find one. You go look at
- 23:32Speaker 4: the most successful offenses in college and the NFL, they
- 23:35Speaker 4: all attacked the middle of the field.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Unless you just didn't do that. They did.
- 23:38Speaker 4: And you go look two years ago someone else. Meyer's
- 23:41Speaker 4: biggest plays were crossing routes across the middle, big time
- 23:45Speaker 4: plays that he had hit and he just didn't have
- 23:46Speaker 4: that a year ago. My opinion, a lot of it, Like, yes,
- 23:50Speaker 4: Joe so needed to go. I understand that, but he
- 23:52Speaker 4: was even better year one. Than year two. I think
- 23:54Speaker 4: they were terrified of this offensive line and wanted to
- 23:56Speaker 4: get the ball as far away from the offensive line
- 23:59Speaker 4: as they could as quickly as possible.
- 24:01Speaker 3: It's why they ran to the outside. It's why they
- 24:03Speaker 3: threw all the screens.
- 24:03Speaker 4: They didn't want anything in the middle of the field
- 24:05Speaker 4: because they knew they had the bomb squad up from
- 24:08Speaker 4: They didn't want that. So, like, who's not going to
- 24:10Speaker 4: take a step back? I understand there's certain people that
- 24:14Speaker 4: love Garrett Nosemier, Like there's a lot of different opinions
- 24:16Speaker 4: on this guy. I think someone's getting a steel because
- 24:18Speaker 4: I think the talent there now as far as like
- 24:21Speaker 4: I got like a Harold Perkins junior. Perk's interesting because
- 24:26Speaker 4: he's kind of a tweeener, right, Like where does he
- 24:29Speaker 4: actually play in the NFL? I mean he measured a
- 24:32Speaker 4: hair under six y one. I think it was actually
- 24:34Speaker 4: like six foot and five eighths. He did run a
- 24:36Speaker 4: four to three eight in the forty and he's tow
- 24:38Speaker 4: it in twenty pounds.
- 24:39Speaker 3: He's versatile. We saw it in college.
- 24:41Speaker 4: I mean he played on the edge, he played at
- 24:43Speaker 4: the star position, he played as an inside you know,
- 24:46Speaker 4: stand up linebacker in the interior, and you know, there
- 24:50Speaker 4: were some question marks whatever. I don't know if he's
- 24:52Speaker 4: big enough to play every down on the edge. Actually
- 24:54Speaker 4: I know he's not big enough to play every down
- 24:55Speaker 4: on the edge. In the NFL, he could maybe play
- 24:58Speaker 4: the star and his coverage skills get better. He improved
- 25:00Speaker 4: as an interior lineback. I know we tried that here
- 25:03Speaker 4: at LSU and there were mixed results. Perkins is gonna
- 25:06Speaker 4: get drafted like honestly, though, remember Isaiah Simmons. We came
- 25:11Speaker 4: out of Clemson a few years back. Everybody wanted him.
- 25:14Speaker 4: He wound up being a first round pick to the
- 25:15Speaker 4: Arizona Cardinals and he didn't pan out, and I think
- 25:18Speaker 4: they traded him shortly after to I could have to
- 25:21Speaker 4: try to believe it's the Giants, but maybe a guy
- 25:24Speaker 4: like Simmons actually hurts Perkins because like that, that's kind
- 25:27Speaker 4: of the comp And Simmons was actually a lot bigger.
- 25:29Speaker 4: He was like six four, two thirty five. He was
- 25:31Speaker 4: more of like a sunny styleis like primary linebacker, but
- 25:34Speaker 4: he lined up on the edge. He played safety, he
- 25:36Speaker 4: played linebacker like Perkins can do a lot of different things.
- 25:39Speaker 3: I think he'll be a good player. The question that
- 25:41Speaker 3: a lot of.
- 25:41Speaker 4: People are gonna have to ask around Perkins is is
- 25:43Speaker 4: he an every down player in the NFL That I
- 25:46Speaker 4: don't know. That's for teams to figure out, so we'll
- 25:48Speaker 4: see what teams kind of kind of value him. As
- 25:52Speaker 4: last guy I want to mention is Xavion Thomas because
- 25:55Speaker 4: I think he's getting drafted. I think no Tiger helped
- 25:58Speaker 4: himself more at the Combine than Xavion Thomas.
- 26:02Speaker 3: Because we had talked about it.
- 26:04Speaker 4: All the lists came out of, Hey, here's five guys
- 26:06Speaker 4: that could break the Combine forty yard dash record. Two
- 26:09Speaker 4: Tigers were on there, Chris Hilton Junior and Barry On Brown,
- 26:12Speaker 4: and they ran fast, but it was xavi On Thomas
- 26:15Speaker 4: that had the fastest forty of them all. Me ran
- 26:17Speaker 4: a four to two eight at five to ten, one
- 26:20Speaker 4: hundred and ninety pounds. This guy will have a role
- 26:23Speaker 4: in my opinion, most underrated player on last year's team.
- 26:27Speaker 4: Anytime you needed to play in the passing game, for
- 26:30Speaker 4: the little number of plays you actually made in the
- 26:32Speaker 4: passing game, it seemed like xavi On Thomas was was
- 26:35Speaker 4: the one making that play. He also lined up in
- 26:37Speaker 4: the backfield. He carried the ball for you. I mean, heck,
- 26:39Speaker 4: he averaged five yards of carry last year. I mean
- 26:44Speaker 4: he only carried the ball nine times, but almost one
- 26:47Speaker 4: hundred yards. Yeah, five point two yards per carry a
- 26:50Speaker 4: year ago. Actually had a rushing touchdown almost five hundred yards,
- 26:53Speaker 4: receiving four touchdowns.
- 26:55Speaker 1: There.
- 26:55Speaker 4: We know what he can do in the return game.
- 26:57Speaker 4: He can make some things happen there as well. Zavion
- 26:59Speaker 4: Thomas is gonna have a role. He's a versatile player.
- 27:02Speaker 4: He just talked about his forty I think I think
- 27:04Speaker 4: he's gonna get drafted somewhere, and I think he's gonna
- 27:07Speaker 4: make a team very, very happy. And again, this is
- 27:08Speaker 4: not a Day two pick. I think save on Thomas
- 27:11Speaker 4: is probably six ersive on tround.
- 27:13Speaker 8: But I do think he's.
- 27:14Speaker 4: Gonna get drafted, and I do think he's gonna make
- 27:16Speaker 4: an impact. It just seemed like wherever you put him
- 27:19Speaker 4: here at LSU, he was able to make a play.
- 27:22Speaker 4: You had to rely on him to cover up a
- 27:24Speaker 4: lot of deficiencies you had on that offense, and he
- 27:26Speaker 4: was able to do so for the most part, about
- 27:28Speaker 4: as good as he he possibly could have. I realized
- 27:31Speaker 4: he's taking a step up in competition. But I think
- 27:34Speaker 4: I think save On Thomas is going to be really
- 27:37Speaker 4: really good, Uh in the NFL. He's gonna have a
- 27:39Speaker 4: role for a long time. All Right, we're going to
- 27:42Speaker 4: take a time out. We got guy about twenty five
- 27:44Speaker 4: minutes up. When we get back, we're finally talking to
- 27:46Speaker 4: LSU Baseball Big Time series against the Bulldogs of Mississippi
- 27:50Speaker 4: State out in Starkville. We're breaking it down next here
- 27:53Speaker 4: on off the bench.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Off the bench, Tigers turn talkers. This is off the bench,

- 29:14Speaker 4: so minutes left with you here on our work week.
- 29:18Speaker 4: Right now, I want to shift our attention to the Diamond.
- 29:21Speaker 4: LSU Baseball a big win this weekend against Mississippi State
- 29:24Speaker 4: in Starkville at Dudey Noble. They're taking on the Bulldogs,
- 29:28Speaker 4: who you know, depending on what poll you look at,
- 29:31Speaker 4: they're in the top fifteen across the board like USA today,
- 29:34Speaker 4: How's I'm gonna Leavitt Baseball America thirteen, D one Baseball fifteen,
- 29:38Speaker 4: So like they're a good team. But they're second in
- 29:41Speaker 4: the Sec three to sixteen batting average, sixty eight home runs,
- 29:46Speaker 4: stole forty eight bases, Like they're they're a they're a
- 29:48Speaker 4: very good team price chance. They're outfielder. He's been in
- 29:51Speaker 4: three sixty four. You fry he's sitting three thirty one.
- 29:55Speaker 4: There are multiple guys in this lineup that can hurt
- 29:58Speaker 4: Ace Rees he's betten three, twelve, seventeen doubles, twelve home runs,
- 30:02Speaker 4: forty seven RBIs. This team can hit the ball. But
- 30:07Speaker 4: on the flip side of things, they're pitching staff good
- 30:09Speaker 4: as well. Number three in the SEC in terms of
- 30:12Speaker 4: e R a three point four to two e R
- 30:14Speaker 4: as a staff, they have allowed thirty five home runs.
- 30:18Speaker 4: But so I break all that down, you're like, Okay,
- 30:21Speaker 4: LSU is really in for one. Yes, Misssippi State's a
- 30:24Speaker 4: good team, and they've been the better team between them
- 30:26Speaker 4: and l She like LSU coming in six and twelve
- 30:28Speaker 4: in the SEC, Mississippi State ten and eight. But when
- 30:33Speaker 4: you look at their overall weekend schedules going back the
- 30:36Speaker 4: past month or so, we'll start in going back the
- 30:39Speaker 4: end of March.
- 30:40Speaker 3: They sweep Ole Miss in Oxford.
- 30:42Speaker 4: That's a team that just swept you a few weeks back,
- 30:46Speaker 4: and I mean they do it behind the pitch five
- 30:48Speaker 4: to four, six to one, and then a h a
- 30:52Speaker 4: seven to one victory in Game three, so they win
- 30:55Speaker 4: that series. They get swept against Georgia. But again, where
- 31:00Speaker 4: you're one of the best teams in the SEC, you
- 31:02Speaker 4: get swept against Tennessee in Starkville. Then you win the
- 31:08Speaker 4: South Carolina series, you sweep them. South Carolina's terrible, so
- 31:13Speaker 4: you sweep South Carolina, you sweep All miss You get
- 31:16Speaker 4: swept by Tennessee and Georgia, two really good teams. But
- 31:21Speaker 4: Tennessee is a is a team that unless you won
- 31:23Speaker 4: that series against on a Easter weekend, So they're a
- 31:26Speaker 4: really good team. It's just the past month or so
- 31:28Speaker 4: they've been a little hit or missed. It really depends
- 31:30Speaker 4: on what you're going to get as far as the
- 31:34Speaker 4: pitching matchup to go, Like this is where because of
- 31:37Speaker 4: the loss of Cooper Moore, who's gonna be out for
- 31:40Speaker 4: the year with the elbow injury. This is where losing
- 31:43Speaker 4: Cooper Moore really hurts you. Like if Cason Evans versus
- 31:47Speaker 4: Thomas Valencia's Valencius a one eight one or a seven
- 31:51Speaker 4: and one record eighty three strikeouts only thirteen walks, no
- 31:55Speaker 4: doubt about it, Mississippi State is going to have the
- 31:57Speaker 4: pitching advantage tonight or I should say the afternoon game one.
- 32:02Speaker 3: First pitch.
- 32:02Speaker 4: Game one between Mississippi State and LSU moved to three
- 32:06Speaker 4: pm this afternoon actually due due to weather up there
- 32:09Speaker 4: in Starkville, So that's gonna be an afternoon game be
- 32:12Speaker 4: going on kind of simultaneously as AFR that one A
- 32:16Speaker 4: one e r A. You look at the LSUE side
- 32:19Speaker 4: of things with Caseon Evans. Cason Evans seventy six strikeouts
- 32:24Speaker 4: but a five four to seven e ra A, he's
- 32:25Speaker 4: walked twenty six batters. That's the thing with case when
- 32:28Speaker 4: he's been dealing. He's one of the best pitchers in
- 32:30Speaker 4: the SEC. You just gotta kind of figure it out
- 32:33Speaker 4: with losing a Cooper more. You gotta get Caseon Evans
- 32:36Speaker 4: to go at least six inns. Like winning on Friday
- 32:39Speaker 4: and preserving your bullpen is so huge for LSU on
- 32:44Speaker 4: Fridays because you don't know who your game three starter
- 32:47Speaker 4: is going to be. Look at Saturday, William Schmidt. He's
- 32:51Speaker 4: four and four on the year, four one two e
- 32:53Speaker 4: r A, sixty seven strikeouts again, twenty two walks. But
- 32:58Speaker 4: he's going up against Duke Stone who's six and one
- 33:01Speaker 4: from Mississippi State. At three point seven to eighty RA,
- 33:04Speaker 4: seventy strikeouts, eighteen walks. Their top two starters have just
- 33:08Speaker 4: been more consistent than LSU's top two starters in case
- 33:11Speaker 4: Evans and Williams Schmidt.
- 33:13Speaker 3: It just is what it is.
- 33:16Speaker 7: Now.
- 33:17Speaker 4: Their Game three starter oh win two five point one
- 33:20Speaker 4: to seventy RA, thirty four strikeouts, sixteen walks. Charlie Foster
- 33:24Speaker 4: is a lefty. That's a guy that you could maybe
- 33:27Speaker 4: expose if you had Cooper Moore. The fact that LSU's
- 33:31Speaker 4: gonna be TBA in Game three, probably for the remainder
- 33:34Speaker 4: of the season, it puts you behind the eight ball
- 33:36Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 33:37Speaker 3: You're gonna have to rely on your bullpen.
- 33:39Speaker 8: Now.
- 33:39Speaker 4: You got swept by Texas A and M a week ago.
- 33:41Speaker 4: I get that, but the bullpen was actually pretty good
- 33:44Speaker 4: against an M. The reason you lost that series is
- 33:47Speaker 4: the Aggies jumped on you early and the bats really
- 33:49Speaker 4: couldn't catch up enough.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Like okay over the series.
- 33:52Speaker 4: Last weekend, LSU bullpen three point two one ERA and
- 33:56Speaker 4: fourteen innings. Baggys had just five runs against the bullpen
- 34:00Speaker 4: the entire weekend, twenty five strikeouts.
- 34:03Speaker 3: Eight walks.
- 34:05Speaker 4: A and M hit two oh four against this LSU
- 34:08Speaker 4: bullpen staff a week ago, like your bullpen was great.
- 34:12Speaker 4: You're gonna need that from them every single week and
- 34:15Speaker 4: for the bats to come along. It's just a big
- 34:16Speaker 4: ask against a team like Mississippi State, Like can the
- 34:20Speaker 4: bullpen do it again? Sure, they could do it again.
- 34:23Speaker 4: A and M's a good team. Missippi State's a good team.
- 34:26Speaker 4: But can the bats come around and help them out?
- 34:28Speaker 4: That's the problem. You keep digging yourself into these multi
- 34:31Speaker 4: run homes, uh, multi run holes.
- 34:36Speaker 3: Right within the first two or three innings.
- 34:38Speaker 4: Then you gotta battle your way out and the pitchy
- 34:39Speaker 4: staff almost has to be perfect at that point because
- 34:42Speaker 4: your bats have struggled in sec play the rest of
- 34:46Speaker 4: the season, not just this game is going to be really,
- 34:49Speaker 4: really tough with al kuber Moore again with the elbow injury.
- 34:52Speaker 4: And then on Monday or Tuesday earlier this week it
- 34:55Speaker 4: was announced that Jake Brown out for the season with Hansard.
- 34:59Speaker 4: So that's your best hitter, your captain, a four year
- 35:03Speaker 4: player here at this school who's batting goes to the
- 35:06Speaker 4: top of the lineup, if not the top, depending on
- 35:08Speaker 4: how j moves things around, and in my opinion, your
- 35:11Speaker 4: most consistent starter at the time before his injury in
- 35:14Speaker 4: Cooper Moore. You know, Jay was holding out a little
- 35:17Speaker 4: bit of hope, saying, no, maybe we can get him
- 35:18Speaker 4: in here and here and here and there. No, they're
- 35:21Speaker 4: sutting him down. So no Cooper Moore, who is one
- 35:24Speaker 4: of your front line starters. No Jake Brown, who was
- 35:28Speaker 4: probably top three player on this team. I mean so
- 35:33Speaker 4: some people considered him the best player in the team.
- 35:35Speaker 3: He was leading in home.
- 35:35Speaker 4: Runs, he had what's sixteen of them at the time
- 35:39Speaker 4: of his injury. So that's a big bat taken out
- 35:42Speaker 4: of an already struggling lineup and a frontline starter. On
- 35:45Speaker 4: the weekend, LSU is going to struggle the rest of
- 35:47Speaker 4: the way. Can they get it done against the Mississippi State.
- 35:51Speaker 4: It's going to take a heck of a pitching performance
- 35:54Speaker 4: all weekend long, is what I look at, because again,
- 35:57Speaker 4: like you could expose Mississippi State maybe a little bit
- 36:00Speaker 4: in the pitching staff one day three, but their first
- 36:03Speaker 4: two starters on Friday and Saturday have been so good
- 36:05Speaker 4: all year long. And like, if you want to look
- 36:08Speaker 4: rest of the way for LSU, you have Mississippi State
- 36:11Speaker 4: on the road, you come home and play Southeastern. Then
- 36:14Speaker 4: you have South Carolina in alex Box Stadium. You have
- 36:16Speaker 4: to sweep that series. Like let's say LSU takes one
- 36:21Speaker 4: game this weekend.
- 36:22Speaker 3: I kind of think that's how it's gonna go.
- 36:25Speaker 4: I love LSU and wanting to win every series, it's
- 36:27Speaker 4: gonna be a tough ask. You're at Duty Noblefield in
- 36:30Speaker 4: Starkville against a good baseball team. You have the pitching
- 36:32Speaker 4: disadvantage and your best bats out of the lineup, but
- 36:35Speaker 4: that's tough to overcome. So let's say they win one,
- 36:37Speaker 4: they go one and two at Starkville. I put you
- 36:41Speaker 4: at seven and fourteen in SEC play. If you can
- 36:45Speaker 4: sweep South Carolina, though you're ten and fourteen, then you
- 36:49Speaker 4: got a three game series against Georgia in Athens. That
- 36:54Speaker 4: that's going to be tough. If Georgia keeps playing the
- 36:57Speaker 4: way you are, you keep playing the way you are
- 36:59Speaker 4: as well. You're hoping to maybe win one game out
- 37:01Speaker 4: of that series. If you can take the series two
- 37:03Speaker 4: games to one, also obviously try to do that. Then
- 37:06Speaker 4: after Georgia, you have Florida coming into Baton Rouge. Then
- 37:09Speaker 4: it's the SEC Tournament. It's not gonna get any easier.
- 37:13Speaker 4: For LSU after Mississippi State this weekend. Again, unfortunately, I
- 37:16Speaker 4: am picking the Bulldogs to win this series.
- 37:18Speaker 3: I don't.
- 37:18Speaker 4: I don't think they get the sweep. I think LSU
- 37:20Speaker 4: knows they're in a tight spot. They're gonna claw the battle.
- 37:23Speaker 4: I think LSU takes one in Starkville. I just think
- 37:26Speaker 4: without Jake Brown in that lineup, you have the pitching advantage,
- 37:31Speaker 4: it's gonna be tough slotting for LSU, not just in
- 37:33Speaker 4: Mississippi State, but the remainder of the season. So you
- 37:36Speaker 4: got State, you got Georgia, you got Florida. Those are
- 37:38Speaker 4: your three remaining SEC series. Then we get into tournament play.
- 37:41Speaker 4: We'll see if the Tigers can make a run to
- 37:43Speaker 4: the postseason. All right, we're gonna take a time out.
- 37:46Speaker 4: We'll have an extended edition of Ask the Bench to
- 37:48Speaker 4: close things out.
- 37:49Speaker 3: Next you're on off the bench.
- 37:51Speaker 5: Off the Bench, go to First American Bank Interest FABT

- 39:30Speaker 7: on a Friday edition of Ask the Bench.
- 39:32Speaker 4: We have blown through today's show. It feels like we
- 39:34Speaker 4: just got started on her. Jordan told me during the
- 39:36Speaker 4: break he's ready for another three hours.
- 39:38Speaker 3: He wants to he just wants to keep this thing going.
- 39:40Speaker 8: Man never stops.
- 39:41Speaker 3: Man, that's try.
- 39:41Speaker 4: Jordan said, you know what next week starty six am
- 39:45Speaker 4: instead of seven. Jordan Tyson said that no, Jordan Jordan kitchen. Yeah, Hawkins, Look,
- 39:57Speaker 4: we need to get into a little bit of ass
- 39:58Speaker 4: the bench right now before were we uh before we
- 40:01Speaker 4: closed this thing out? Ask the bench of broughtci by
- 40:03Speaker 4: dose Eki's look over the weekend. Look, you got the
- 40:06Speaker 4: NFL Draft, you got the Zurich, you got l s
- 40:08Speaker 4: U Baseball, you got jazz Fest. Get out there, get
- 40:11Speaker 4: you in ice cold dose egis. Make sure you go
- 40:14Speaker 4: for dose again. Dose Aki sponsoring, asked the bench. I
- 40:17Speaker 4: got to ask the bench for YouTube. Ask the bench.
- 40:21Speaker 4: Have you ever been to jazz Fest?
- 40:23Speaker 7: Yes?
- 40:23Speaker 2: I have?
- 40:23Speaker 8: I went the year j Cole was here. Okay, I
- 40:26Speaker 8: have not not yet.
- 40:28Speaker 3: Is it as big of an inconvenience as it seems?
- 40:31Speaker 4: Well, where do you Well, you kind of live in
- 40:34Speaker 4: that area, so maybe it's at how close?
- 40:36Speaker 3: How close do you live to where jazz Fest.
- 40:38Speaker 8: Is not close at all? I live in west Bank.
- 40:40Speaker 3: I didn't think, so where do you where do you park?
- 40:43Speaker 3: That seems like a nightmare.
- 40:45Speaker 2: Well, when I went in high school, I got dropped off,
- 40:48Speaker 2: so that was a privilege and now everybody has that
- 40:51Speaker 2: that privilege to get dropped off. So it's a lot
- 40:52Speaker 2: of uber and around a lot of you know, parking
- 40:54Speaker 2: and sketchy Spotify, like under a bridge a little bit
- 40:56Speaker 2: somewhere somewhere in the Gentiley area.
- 40:58Speaker 8: You know, you just sometimes you.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Just gotta take a chance. But now jazz Fest, I
- 41:02Speaker 2: think it's a little bit overhyped, if you ask me,
- 41:03Speaker 2: I don't really think jazz Fest is as lit especially
- 41:07Speaker 2: as how expensive it is nowadays. Like I was, we
- 41:09Speaker 2: was getting tickets for free from you know, doing like
- 41:11Speaker 2: radio called a radio and you know, stuff like that,
- 41:13Speaker 2: NOE Cops and stuff like that. So nowadays is like
- 41:16Speaker 2: a hundred some dollars for take.
- 41:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I've never been love music, go to concerts all
- 41:21Speaker 4: the time past.
- 41:23Speaker 8: Yeah, you know you're not missing nothing. It's okay.
- 41:25Speaker 4: Here's one from Nookie. Ask the bench what sort of
- 41:28Speaker 4: umbrella drinks will Hunt Rivers and a laundry be choosing
- 41:31Speaker 4: during uh their their time in Starkville. My answer, Uhlandre
- 41:36Speaker 4: Rivers go get marks all the time. I'm some sort
- 41:38Speaker 4: of margarita. Whether it's frozen, whether it's on the rocks,
- 41:40Speaker 4: I don't know their preference, but I know they both
- 41:42Speaker 4: enjoy Margarita's Hunt, Fuzzy naval Hunt. It's gonna be fuzzy, navel, cosmopolitan.
- 41:47Speaker 4: Hunt seems like a Cosmo guy. We're gonna go, We're
- 41:49Speaker 4: gonna go something like that little mixed drink.
- 41:51Speaker 2: I don't even think I can even say Hunt was
- 41:53Speaker 2: a mixed drink. Every time I hear Hunt about drinking something,
- 41:55Speaker 2: it's either a cold beer or a.
- 41:57Speaker 3: Scott No, I'm kidding it was. It was a halfway
- 41:59Speaker 3: shot it.
- 42:00Speaker 8: I can't even see him. You're ordering that like that
- 42:02Speaker 8: was his wife would order him a drinking that. I
- 42:04Speaker 8: don't think.
- 42:05Speaker 3: Here, here's the thing, you bring it to Hunt. He's
- 42:07Speaker 3: taking it.
- 42:08Speaker 4: I'll take it for sure. He's taking it, no doubt
- 42:10Speaker 4: about it. Asked the Ben Tremava is Rassini's kid, whose
- 42:16Speaker 4: name is Michael actually Vrabel's child.
- 42:19Speaker 8: Look, I like this question.
- 42:20Speaker 4: I don't want to speculate here or anything. Yeah, we'll
- 42:23Speaker 4: say it's hoped very That is all I'm going to say.
- 42:25Speaker 4: Because I think the report came out the other day
- 42:27Speaker 4: twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen, around that time was when their
- 42:31Speaker 4: connection actually started and our kid was born in twenty one.
- 42:37Speaker 3: Twenty twenty twenty one, somewhere like that, I have to COVID.
- 42:39Speaker 4: A tweet came out yesterday of her saying, this is
- 42:42Speaker 4: an old tweet saying, I keep looking at my son
- 42:44Speaker 4: trying to figure out great players and coaches in the
- 42:47Speaker 4: NFL named Michael, and you're like.
- 42:49Speaker 3: Okay, well crazy.
- 42:51Speaker 4: It almost seems intentional at this point, Like again, I'm
- 42:55Speaker 4: not here to speculate things I don't know.
- 42:57Speaker 3: Michael is a pretty common name.
- 42:58Speaker 8: My middle name is Michael.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Is it really, yes, Jordan Michael?
- 43:01Speaker 8: I guess Michael.
- 43:04Speaker 2: Look, we'll know about this kid. Just give it about
- 43:06Speaker 2: let's wait till the about eighteen years old. Now he
- 43:08Speaker 2: pops up, he's sixty five to forty. I'm gonna just
- 43:11Speaker 2: say that's not Rassini's husband kid, all right, Rabel's a
- 43:14Speaker 2: big guy. This kid pops up to be sixty five
- 43:16Speaker 2: to sixty maybe past rusher for Ohio State. Yeah, that's
- 43:19Speaker 2: my my great sign.
- 43:21Speaker 4: Maybe I don't know Diana's husband. I don't know how
- 43:23Speaker 4: big or small.
- 43:24Speaker 8: Don't thing you need to know him? She doesn't want
- 43:25Speaker 8: us to know him. Right, she don't want us to
- 43:27Speaker 8: know him.
- 43:29Speaker 4: My thoughts on that is he's either like the most
- 43:33Speaker 4: miserable person in the world right now, or he's like
- 43:36Speaker 4: super lit totally cool with all. Yeah, there's not gonna
- 43:39Speaker 4: be an in between.
- 43:39Speaker 2: His heart's probably been gone. Yeah, there's been waiting. He's
- 43:42Speaker 2: probably been waiting for this too.
- 43:43Speaker 4: There's there's not gonna be an in between. Uh, brilliant,
- 43:47Speaker 4: We're anywhere in there. Ask the bench best fast.
- 43:51Speaker 8: Food breakfast mickey D's and Chick fil A.
- 43:54Speaker 3: I agree, it's gotta be.
- 43:56Speaker 8: It's top three.
- 43:58Speaker 4: It's gotta be McDonald's, right, the verse untility, like the
- 44:00Speaker 4: mcgriddles iconic.
- 44:02Speaker 3: You got the egg McMuffin.
- 44:04Speaker 4: You got the hotcakes, for the for the versatility and
- 44:08Speaker 4: the lore around the McDonald's breakfaitt. That has to be
- 44:11Speaker 4: the answer, right, Yes, that that has to be the answer, Like,
- 44:14Speaker 4: no question about it. All Right, look there, there's a
- 44:16Speaker 4: pretty good Okay, here we go. Ask the bench odds
- 44:19Speaker 4: for the full OTB crew. Will all be back on Monday?
- 44:21Speaker 4: We're supposed to be. I know I will be here.
- 44:23Speaker 4: I know everyone is scheduled as of now to all
- 44:27Speaker 4: be back on Monday. We'll see, we'll go with the flow.
- 44:29Speaker 4: We'll roll with the punches as they come. Okay, look
- 44:31Speaker 4: really fun show here. We were jam packed from start
- 44:34Speaker 4: to finish with a lot of NFL Draft we talked
- 44:36Speaker 4: from spring football. We gave you LSU baseball breakdown as
- 44:39Speaker 4: they take on Mississippi State starting three pm today in Starkville,
- 44:44Speaker 4: thanks to Jordan, thanks to Braxton Taylor here with you.
- 44:47Speaker 4: Look that's going to do it for a Friday edition
- 44:50Speaker 4: of Off the Bench. On Monday, we got a lot
- 44:52Speaker 4: to talk about. We're recapping the entire NFL draft. Was
- 44:55Speaker 4: LSU able to miraculously pull out a series win over
- 44:59Speaker 4: the Bulldogs and Starkville. We're breaking it all down on Monday.
- 45:03Speaker 4: Jake Back, Matt Back, a laundra supposedly back as well.
- 45:07Speaker 4: Like it's it's been a blast today. Got a lot
- 45:10Speaker 4: going on this weekend. I mean I just mentioned draft.
- 45:12Speaker 4: In baseball, you got those Zer Classic, you got Jazz Bez.
