- 0:00Speaker 1: And now move the sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:07Speaker 2: What's up, everybody? Welcome to move the sticks.
- 0:09Speaker 3: DJ Buck and our guy Baldy joined us here on
- 0:12Speaker 3: a Monday. Baldy, were we are in December? How fast
- 0:15Speaker 3: did that just go by?
- 0:16Speaker 4: It's a blank? I mean we always say it every year,
- 0:19Speaker 4: it goes by faster and faster.
- 0:20Speaker 1: But we're, you know, week thirteens in the books practically,
- 0:23Speaker 1: and December first, the stretch run has begun, like it
- 0:27Speaker 1: feels like it just started, and here we are in
- 0:28Speaker 1: the stretch run.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Were ever on teams where you felt like you guys
- 0:31Speaker 3: had a gear you could tap into when you get
- 0:33Speaker 3: to this point this season, like there was another gear.
- 0:35Speaker 3: I think some of these veteran teams and all of
- 0:36Speaker 3: a sudden, it looks like they're kind of flipping the
- 0:38Speaker 3: switch a little bit.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I did. I played on team in Philly
- 0:42Speaker 1: that was like that. Like we had a good playoff
- 0:45Speaker 1: run in ninety two, but we were led by a
- 0:48Speaker 1: great defense. But I felt like we got to the
- 0:50Speaker 1: point we could run the ball against anybody. We won
- 0:52Speaker 1: the division that year. Cowboys, you know, knocked us out
- 0:56Speaker 1: in the playoffs, but I felt like we were ready
- 1:00Speaker 1: for playoff football. He was just you know, we just
- 1:02Speaker 1: ran into a better team than the playoffs. But we
- 1:04Speaker 1: took care to Saints in the playoffs, like I felt
- 1:07Speaker 1: like we were. We could have made a good deep
- 1:09Speaker 1: run if it wasn't for the Cowboys.
- 1:10Speaker 4: Being so good.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Yeah, it was a dominant Cowboy team. Well, let's let's
- 1:14Speaker 3: jump into some of these games. Let's start with a
- 1:15Speaker 3: Sunday nighter. Uh, speaking of a team that couldn't make
- 1:17Speaker 3: a deep playoff run, Denver Man Washington, you know, not
- 1:21Speaker 3: not healthy, no Jayden Daniels, But Marcus Mariota and company
- 1:24Speaker 3: came in there and gave them a heck of a
- 1:25Speaker 3: ball game last night.
- 1:26Speaker 4: They did.
- 1:27Speaker 1: They did, and uh, you know, they had a chance,
- 1:30Speaker 1: they had a chance you know wags, you know, with
- 1:31Speaker 1: an interception, and Marcus made plays with you know, just
- 1:36Speaker 1: you know, like I think we always thought he could.
- 1:38Speaker 1: He hasn't done it for long stretches, but I mean
- 1:40Speaker 1: extending plays. Yeah, getting a ball to McLaren. Looking at
- 1:44Speaker 1: McLaren healthy and what a difference he makes. That was
- 1:46Speaker 1: a great match up him and Patrickstan both of them
- 1:49Speaker 1: out there healthy for the first time in a long time.
- 1:51Speaker 4: That was a good matchup.
- 1:53Speaker 1: But I mean, you look, he you know, I don't
- 1:54Speaker 1: blame dan quinn for going for two at the end,
- 1:56Speaker 1: right there, Go for two, go for the win. Uh
- 1:59Speaker 1: you know, you see you're sitting there, you know, at
- 2:02Speaker 1: at the bottom of the NFC right now, go for
- 2:04Speaker 1: the win, knock off a team that's the hottest team
- 2:05Speaker 1: in the league. And you know, they just didn't. I mean,
- 2:08Speaker 1: it was a good play call. It was wide open. Yeah,
- 2:10Speaker 1: good play call. I mean he's bring the will linebacker
- 2:13Speaker 1: and Menito comes free and you know you got you
- 2:15Speaker 1: got mcnickels out there in the flat. It's probably gonna
- 2:17Speaker 1: be a two point conversion if you get the ball
- 2:19Speaker 1: over Benito's head. So it came down to the final play.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I mean, they played as hard as they could. I
- 2:24Speaker 1: thought in that game it was two teams that played
- 2:27Speaker 1: played the game the right.
- 2:28Speaker 4: Way, played really hard.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean the the conversions that they had late
- 2:33Speaker 3: in that ball game, I mean pressure pressure conversions.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Yeah, third and twenty five or second and twenty five,
- 2:39Speaker 1: and yeah, you know, they responded, they.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Found a way and then you know, to me, Mario
- 2:44Speaker 3: to one of the things about him underrage. Just you
- 2:45Speaker 3: forget how strong he is man like cause he you
- 2:48Speaker 3: think of him in Oregon, you thought he's kind of
- 2:49Speaker 3: a narrow, linear guy.
- 2:51Speaker 2: But man, his.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Ability to get that ball off when he's got two
- 2:54Speaker 3: guys draped over and ended up getting a pass interference
- 2:56Speaker 3: penalty extends the game. I mean really kind of kept
- 2:58Speaker 3: the game alive for him. I thought he played great.
- 3:01Speaker 3: We were talking on the phone this morning, Baldy about Matt.
- 3:04Speaker 3: I look at a guy like Mariota if you wanted
- 3:06Speaker 3: to script a perfect backup quarterback, like the different criteria.
- 3:10Speaker 3: First of all, let's start with you got to be
- 3:12Speaker 3: a great teammate because you're going to have to support
- 3:14Speaker 3: your starter. He's by all counts and unbelievable, I know,
- 3:17Speaker 3: at any of that stuff, unbelievable guy. And then can
- 3:19Speaker 3: he give us can you know, if you have to
- 3:21Speaker 3: play for two, three, four weeks, can he get us
- 3:22Speaker 3: through a month of the season, maybe give us a
- 3:24Speaker 3: five hundred you know type type month there. And he's
- 3:27Speaker 3: more than capable of doing that. He was making plays
- 3:29Speaker 3: on schedule, made some plays off schedule. I mean, I
- 3:32Speaker 3: think if you if you extend this thing out over
- 3:34Speaker 3: the full season with Mariota, maybe it starts the works
- 3:37Speaker 3: start to show a little bit. But to me, he's
- 3:39Speaker 3: like the perfect backup. And I was thinking about how
- 3:41Speaker 3: ironic it was. You remember he came into the league,
- 3:43Speaker 3: Mariota versus Jameis Winston. That was the things like these
- 3:48Speaker 3: guys competed on like the PGA Tour and now they're
- 3:50Speaker 3: like in the Senior Tour. Now they're like the two
- 3:53Speaker 3: backup guys, and they're both in their own ways. I
- 3:55Speaker 3: think they're both like ideal type backup quarterbacks.
- 3:58Speaker 1: And I think, you know, with Cliff's system in Washington,
- 4:02Speaker 1: you know, I mean just being a threat, a run threat,
- 4:05Speaker 1: you know, spreading you out, do the things that he
- 4:07Speaker 1: he asked his quarterbacks to do, Jayden to do, like
- 4:09Speaker 1: he could do a lot of those things, extending the plays.
- 4:12Speaker 1: But I thought he was really accurate too with the ball,
- 4:14Speaker 1: and I thought that was always one of his issues.
- 4:17Speaker 1: But I thought he made a lot of big time
- 4:18Speaker 1: throws to Zach Ertz. I mean they dropped some palls
- 4:21Speaker 1: too that I think that really helps them, you know,
- 4:23Speaker 1: I mean that that could have really swung that game.
- 4:26Speaker 1: But you know, that's a hot team that's a good defense.
- 4:28Speaker 1: That's a great defense. And to be able to move
- 4:30Speaker 1: the ball like that and come back and to you know,
- 4:33Speaker 1: make that an overtime game like that. That was you
- 4:36Speaker 1: know that It just shows you, like, you know, I mean,
- 4:38Speaker 1: despite the record and all that kind of stuff, those
- 4:41Speaker 1: kids played hard man.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Yeah, dan Quinn, he's got a good culture there the
- 4:45Speaker 3: other side of the ball. Looking at the Broncos, I
- 4:49Speaker 3: had heard in the summer and in the offseason after
- 4:50Speaker 3: they signed this dude that like, hey, Evan Ingram is
- 4:53Speaker 3: such a perfect fit for Sean Payton.
- 4:55Speaker 2: He knows how to use this guy.
- 4:56Speaker 3: This is going to be, you know, this is going
- 4:58Speaker 3: to be someone who just matches up perfectly with what
- 5:00Speaker 3: they want to do. And I'm kind of sitting here
- 5:02Speaker 3: waiting and waiting, and then I watched this tape and
- 5:04Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, hey, yeah, this is what it's supposed
- 5:06Speaker 3: to be. It's body. He's winning on a little check downs.
- 5:09Speaker 3: He can just get north and south and just burst
- 5:11Speaker 3: pivot routes, and then in overtime he hits a little
- 5:14Speaker 3: jerk out on Bobby Wagner, and Bobby like twenty four
- 5:16Speaker 3: year Oldobby Wagner has a shot on that one, not
- 5:19Speaker 3: this version of Bobby Wagner. That's impossible cover with a
- 5:21Speaker 3: guy that dynamic and explosive. And it's like, yeah, this
- 5:24Speaker 3: is what I'd been expecting. This was kind of the
- 5:25Speaker 3: guy I thought we would see there.
- 5:26Speaker 1: We hadn't seen much of it, and you know, until
- 5:29Speaker 1: they needed the most, you know, on the road like that.
- 5:31Speaker 1: And so it's good to see, you know, Evan because
- 5:33Speaker 1: you know, you know, he's caught a hundred balls in
- 5:36Speaker 1: his leep. You know, he is a guy that can
- 5:38Speaker 1: match up against linebackers and safeties and winning those matchups,
- 5:43Speaker 1: and he's actually wants the balls in his hands do
- 5:45Speaker 1: have to catch.
- 5:46Speaker 2: No doubt whatsoever.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Let's let's change games here, Buck, Let's go to the
- 5:51Speaker 3: game that you were at.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Buck.
- 5:52Speaker 3: We don't want to get this one in here, just
- 5:53Speaker 3: because I didn't think this was one that we would
- 5:55Speaker 3: talk about initially. But Jags, you look up, Buck, Your
- 5:59Speaker 3: Jags are in the driver's seat now, all of a
- 6:01Speaker 3: sudden in the AFC south of twenty five to three
- 6:03Speaker 3: throttling of the Tennessee Titans.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it was really good.
- 6:06Speaker 5: To see them play the way that they play, very
- 6:09Speaker 5: consistent from beginning to end. And you guys have all
- 6:12Speaker 5: been around good teams and you see the maturation where
- 6:15Speaker 5: good teams take care of business against teams they're supposed
- 6:17Speaker 5: to be. And one thing that Liam Cohen has been
- 6:20Speaker 5: trying to convey to the team is don't apologize for winning.
- 6:23Speaker 5: Just find different ways to win the game against those teams.
- 6:26Speaker 5: But I think what you want to focus on is
- 6:28Speaker 5: look at Trevor Lawrence, and look at Trevors Lawrence from
- 6:31Speaker 5: this point going forward. A couple of weeks ago, Liam
- 6:33Speaker 5: Cohen told him, hey, man, let it rip. Quit worrying
- 6:36Speaker 5: about making mistakes and turnovers and those things.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Don't be reckless, but be fearless when it comes to it.
- 6:43Speaker 5: And DJ Balden, you know when you play against zone
- 6:45Speaker 5: teams and you have to throw the ball into windows
- 6:47Speaker 5: and anticipate, like there's a fearlessness that you have to
- 6:50Speaker 5: let it go and trust that your guys going to
- 6:52Speaker 5: get there. I'm gonna say this, I think this was
- 6:55Speaker 5: the best that I saw Trevor Lawrence in terms of
- 6:57Speaker 5: throwing with anticipation and.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Timing rip over the middle of the field.
- 7:01Speaker 5: And if they're able to get this version of Trevor
- 7:04Speaker 5: going forward, they're gonna be their offense that they want
- 7:07Speaker 5: to be in need to be in the postseason.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Well, a couple of things, Buck, I mean, Jacoby Myers
- 7:11Speaker 1: has made a difference here, like he fits, and then
- 7:14Speaker 1: getting Brendon Strange back at tight end. He was out
- 7:16Speaker 1: for I don't know how many weeks he missed, Buck,
- 7:18Speaker 1: but you know, he's a guy that they really know
- 7:22Speaker 1: how to feature him in all phases of the game.
- 7:25Speaker 4: They're a big tight end team.
- 7:26Speaker 1: And so getting those two guys in this lineup right now,
- 7:29Speaker 1: I think I think that's helped Trevor.
- 7:31Speaker 4: Both those guys they think have helped them.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:33Speaker 3: I was talking to Baldy this morning, Buck about Jacoby Myers,
- 7:36Speaker 3: and I'm sitting here going watching this tape, going, Kley,
- 7:39Speaker 3: this is like, this is James Glass. I'm going and
- 7:41Speaker 3: getting a RAMS receiver.
- 7:43Speaker 2: This is the letter exen. This is their style of guy.
- 7:46Speaker 3: I'm watching it deep ends, working in the middle of
- 7:49Speaker 3: the field, tunnel screens, like everything funneling towards the middle
- 7:52Speaker 3: of the field, grounded through the catch, catch everything, reliable, dependable, smart,
- 7:57Speaker 3: like like this is the RAMS type receiver. So they
- 7:59Speaker 3: went and found guy, and I was thinking about you
- 8:01Speaker 3: know like, this is not the end to me for
- 8:03Speaker 3: Brian Thomas Junior, but it might just not be a
- 8:06Speaker 3: great fit there. If you take Brian Thomas Junior, I
- 8:08Speaker 3: was telling Ball, you trade him to the Kansas City Chiefs,
- 8:10Speaker 3: He'll be in the Pro Bowl next year because they
- 8:12Speaker 3: feed speed and explosion. Whereas this this style that they've
- 8:16Speaker 3: had in Tampa with Liam Cohen as well as you
- 8:19Speaker 3: know what the Rams had, that's a more physical, that's
- 8:22Speaker 3: a more middle of the field, that's working in the mud,
- 8:24Speaker 3: so to speak, type guys. And I think, to me,
- 8:27Speaker 3: that's to Baldy's point, like Myers, just he fits and
- 8:30Speaker 3: he helps Trevor.
- 8:31Speaker 5: But here's what happens DJ when you stand firm on
- 8:34Speaker 5: what your expectations are for you wide receivers, they either
- 8:37Speaker 5: meet it or exceed it. If you watch that tape closely,
- 8:39Speaker 5: there's a big play that Jacoby Myers makes. Brian Thomas
- 8:43Speaker 5: is leading the way, Brian Thomas is blocking and knocking
- 8:46Speaker 5: people down. Brian Thomas then later comes and catches one
- 8:48Speaker 5: over the middle and you can see the wiggle. So
- 8:51Speaker 5: it's not necessarily hey, he's not a good fit, but
- 8:54Speaker 5: it's conforming to the standards and expectations.
- 8:57Speaker 2: I've said this and I believe it.
- 8:59Speaker 5: They're going to need him to be the team that
- 9:01Speaker 5: they need to be down the stretch because all those
- 9:04Speaker 5: systematic receivers are great, and so you play against guys
- 9:07Speaker 5: who have better defenders than those individual talents on the outside.
- 9:11Speaker 2: So you need to have a get open guy.
- 9:13Speaker 5: To me, Brian Thomas is dead and it's just about
- 9:16Speaker 5: playing to the standarday to happen him. If he does that,
- 9:18Speaker 5: then this offense goes to another level. Well that's good stuff.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Well, good win for the Jacks very quietly, Yeah, right
- 9:25Speaker 3: in control there in the AFC South Baldie Man. Probably
- 9:29Speaker 3: one of the best games of the week, Houston Indy.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Houston gets to win twenty to sixteen. Your takeaway on
- 9:34Speaker 3: those guys.
- 9:36Speaker 4: I'm telling you there's not a single guy.
- 9:37Speaker 1: I don't care if it's lasted or if it's getting
- 9:40Speaker 1: Jalen Petrie back, if it's watching any linebacker Will Anderson.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Like they strike you as hard and as consistent as
- 9:49Speaker 1: any defense in this league. Like you can't help but
- 9:52Speaker 1: feel the hits when you watch that team play. They
- 9:54Speaker 1: throttled up. You know, Jonathan Taylor pretty good, but I need,
- 9:59Speaker 1: you know, and the Colts like to attack the middle
- 10:01Speaker 1: of the field. They like they strike fear when they
- 10:04Speaker 1: come after you, Like there is every single guy in
- 10:07Speaker 1: that team on that defense will hit and and they
- 10:10Speaker 1: and they and then they just get as many hats.
- 10:12Speaker 4: To the ball as possible.
- 10:13Speaker 2: It is.
- 10:14Speaker 4: It is really something to watch.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Like that's playoff defense the way they play now the
- 10:18Speaker 1: other side of the ball. I mean CJ was back
- 10:20Speaker 1: for the first time in the month. I thought the
- 10:22Speaker 1: offensive line, including Trent Brown, you know, if he gets
- 10:25Speaker 1: to just lean on you, you know, and he doesn't
- 10:27Speaker 1: have to like go out there in space and dance
- 10:29Speaker 1: and all, like, he's still effective. I don't know what
- 10:32Speaker 1: he weighs, it's it's weight on size.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Doesn't go into a slump BOLDI.
- 10:38Speaker 1: I mean, that's a holiday season DJ. He might be four,
- 10:41Speaker 1: he might be every bit of four. Like that thing
- 10:43Speaker 1: is hanging way over the belt.
- 10:44Speaker 3: But he can't go through them.
- 10:47Speaker 4: You can't. You can't go through them.
- 10:49Speaker 1: So but but even like you know, Arianta Ursery, you know,
- 10:51Speaker 1: played pretty good on the edge against Leith.
- 10:55Speaker 2: To.
- 10:56Speaker 1: I thought they played pretty good. They found different ways
- 10:59Speaker 1: to run the ball. Got a pinned poll for Chubb
- 11:02Speaker 1: for touchdown. They got a reverse to Nico Collins four touchdown.
- 11:05Speaker 1: That's how he got in the end zone. It's not
- 11:07Speaker 1: a dynamic offense, but the defense just keeps giving you
- 11:10Speaker 1: a chance. And that's in Indy against a good against
- 11:13Speaker 1: a really good offense.
- 11:15Speaker 3: Buck, I was going to see if you could give
- 11:16Speaker 3: me an example of this because I went through and
- 11:18Speaker 3: was looking through the numbers and went and watched it,
- 11:20Speaker 3: and you know, Jayden Higgins just keeps coming on five
- 11:23Speaker 3: for sixty five in this game. He's a rookie, six
- 11:26Speaker 3: foot four, is two hundred and twenty pounds. Nico Collins
- 11:29Speaker 3: six foot four, maybe close to two thirty, Like he
- 11:31Speaker 3: is a big physical guy. He's five for ninety eight.
- 11:33Speaker 3: I was something Baldy that it's in Houston, So I'm
- 11:35Speaker 3: going back old school. I'm going Twin Towers two point zero.
- 11:38Speaker 3: I got Ralph Sampson, I got Hakeem Elijahwan. Those are two,
- 11:41Speaker 3: I mean maybe not centers, but two power forward wide receivers.
- 11:44Speaker 3: I was trying to think of other can you remember
- 11:46Speaker 3: other great offenses where you had two like just big physical,
- 11:50Speaker 3: six foot four dudes combining each other. I know, like
- 11:54Speaker 3: like Randy Moss and Chris Carter. Randy was taller Jake.
- 11:57Speaker 2: But they both guys.
- 11:58Speaker 3: Jake Reid was, wasn't he. Baldy was about to say, yea,
- 12:02Speaker 3: so those guys all could kind of play above the
- 12:03Speaker 3: rim too.
- 12:04Speaker 2: I mean, it's just so hard to find.
- 12:06Speaker 5: I mean you just know, like from the scouting world,
- 12:08Speaker 5: how hard it is to find cornerbacks and defensive backs
- 12:11Speaker 5: that are six foot or taller. And so imagine now
- 12:13Speaker 5: needing to find two or three of them to be
- 12:15Speaker 5: able to match up with what the Texans are able
- 12:18Speaker 5: to do. And what I'll say about the Texans team
- 12:20Speaker 5: in general, Baldy, you talked about their defense being a
- 12:23Speaker 5: physical defense that will strike you. They have now assembled
- 12:26Speaker 5: a heavyweight team. They're big, they're physical, they all kind
- 12:30Speaker 5: of have an edge and a chippiness to them. And
- 12:33Speaker 5: I'm gonna say this, like when you look at the Texans,
- 12:35Speaker 5: you don't want them on your line when it comes
- 12:38Speaker 5: to the postseason because that playoff defense that you're playing,
- 12:41Speaker 5: Danil Hunter and Will Anderson are down. They have twenty
- 12:44Speaker 5: one and a half sacks this year already, Like Danil
- 12:47Speaker 5: Hunter can take over a game, and Will Anderson is
- 12:49Speaker 5: right there with them, and their physicality wears on you
- 12:52Speaker 5: over time and they make you playing these low scoring,
- 12:56Speaker 5: gritty things. They just need to be adavage on offense
- 13:01Speaker 5: and they're gonna be able.
- 13:02Speaker 2: To go far into postseason.
- 13:03Speaker 1: You know what's interesting about that Buck is like Will
- 13:06Speaker 1: and Daniel didn't have a sack in the game, but
- 13:08Speaker 1: yet Will Anderson then move him around like he just
- 13:10Speaker 1: ran over Bordolini the center, he ran over the left tackle.
- 13:15Speaker 4: You know, uh, he just crushed the pocket like they.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Just and you know, and then you know, Sheldon Rankins
- 13:19Speaker 1: gets a sack, but they just can, especially on third downs,
- 13:22Speaker 1: they just consistently can crush the pocket with just four
- 13:26Speaker 1: and then you you let those safeties and corners go
- 13:29Speaker 1: to work. Not to mention, you know, Al Shire and
- 13:31Speaker 1: some of the inside linebackers like they are they're they're
- 13:35Speaker 1: they're complete, like they're gonna give you a headache man
- 13:38Speaker 1: playing against that defense.
- 13:40Speaker 2: I don't think.
- 13:40Speaker 3: There's any question about it too, that they just got
- 13:43Speaker 3: to get in, like Bucky said, because that's going to travel.
- 13:45Speaker 3: That ain't something that they got to be playing in
- 13:47Speaker 3: Houston for that defense to play like that. That thing
- 13:49Speaker 3: will go with him everywhere. So that's a that's a
- 13:51Speaker 3: really good football team. Only a game behind now, game
- 13:54Speaker 3: behind Jacksonville Indianapolis. So that's going to be a nail
- 13:56Speaker 3: bier of a division to watch as we come down
- 13:58Speaker 3: the home stretch.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Here. I'll get you.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Guys to the game I was at yesterday. It was
- 14:02Speaker 3: a blowout Chargers thirty one to fourteen over the Raiders.
- 14:06Speaker 3: Herbert got hurt. He ended up fractioning his left hand,
- 14:09Speaker 3: so it sounded like he was gonna have surgery Monday,
- 14:12Speaker 3: with the hope that he wouldn't miss any time be back.
- 14:14Speaker 3: You know, they played the Eagles at home coming up,
- 14:16Speaker 3: which is a big game for both of those teams.
- 14:19Speaker 3: But they didn't really need him in this game, Baldi.
- 14:21Speaker 3: They ran the ball down the Raiders' throats, and for
- 14:23Speaker 3: all the Raiders issues with their team, they've actually been
- 14:25Speaker 3: decent against the run. I think there a third in
- 14:27Speaker 3: the league and yards per carry and you know, top
- 14:30Speaker 3: top half of the league in terms of yards. But
- 14:32Speaker 3: Camanie Vaidell, he's made himself some money man as a
- 14:35Speaker 3: young player, the second year guy.
- 14:36Speaker 2: He runs hard.
- 14:37Speaker 3: At buck twenty six, they hit a pin and pull
- 14:39Speaker 3: for a touchdown where you get Mconkee blocking down Sawyer
- 14:43Speaker 3: who's now taking over the left tackle spot, which I
- 14:45Speaker 3: think is a good development. He pulls out, gets to
- 14:47Speaker 3: the perimeter, Trey Harris blocks his tail off. You guys
- 14:50Speaker 3: were talking at Bucky was talking about it, Brian Thomas Junior.
- 14:52Speaker 3: But Baldi, when you have wideouts that are bought in
- 14:56Speaker 3: and blocking well in the run game, I mean, I
- 14:57Speaker 3: think that's kind of a hardball thing. But that speaks
- 14:59Speaker 3: to the of culture that they've got there.
- 15:01Speaker 1: No, I agree, I agree, And you know, and when
- 15:03Speaker 1: you see these running backs, I mean, you know have
- 15:06Speaker 1: the pace too, like you're going to get blocks from
- 15:09Speaker 1: the wide receivers that they don't have to knock guys down.
- 15:12Speaker 1: These have to be in good position, not be dumb
- 15:15Speaker 1: with their hands, especially on the perimeter.
- 15:18Speaker 4: But I watched it yesterday in Buffalo.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I watched every one of those wide receivers block against
- 15:22Speaker 1: Pittsburgh yesterday, and it's when they when they you could
- 15:26Speaker 1: tell the effort and the angles that they're taking to
- 15:29Speaker 1: dig these guys out of the box in order to,
- 15:32Speaker 1: you know, help the running back. You could tell just
- 15:34Speaker 1: by the effort sometimes that they're ball bought.
- 15:37Speaker 2: In yeah, I mean, just a really good thing.
- 15:40Speaker 5: And I'm gonna say this about comar of it all,
- 15:42Speaker 5: like that is such a great fine three one yard
- 15:44Speaker 5: games already, the ability to be able to do it.
- 15:47Speaker 2: When you think when they eventually.
- 15:48Speaker 5: Get Omari and Hampton back, to be able to have
- 15:50Speaker 5: two running backs that can be able to literally carry
- 15:53Speaker 5: the load as feature guys, it only makes the running
- 15:56Speaker 5: game better.
- 15:57Speaker 2: And I think as we're at.
- 15:58Speaker 5: The time where we begin to see it, because think about.
- 16:00Speaker 2: The way the running game.
- 16:01Speaker 5: Is really showing up this week, just watching the teams,
- 16:04Speaker 5: the way the Bears did charge, the way others are
- 16:06Speaker 5: doing it.
- 16:07Speaker 2: You have to be able to run it, and you
- 16:08Speaker 2: have to have a running back that can.
- 16:09Speaker 5: Carry a heavy workload because that only alleviates the pression
- 16:12Speaker 5: on the quarterback. It makes life so much easier for
- 16:15Speaker 5: everyone involved. We need to get down like that.
- 16:17Speaker 3: By the way, it's amazing how much better your defense
- 16:19Speaker 3: looks when you run the football offensively. And these guys
- 16:22Speaker 3: are well rested and ready to rock and roll. And
- 16:25Speaker 3: that was the charges. The big question was kind of okay,
- 16:28Speaker 3: you know, the Raiders with the new coordinator and all
- 16:30Speaker 3: the talk with coach Olsen was they're going to try
- 16:32Speaker 3: and establish the run and get genty going. And they,
- 16:35Speaker 3: I mean the Chargers, I thought they The question was
- 16:38Speaker 3: are they going to add you know, another big to
- 16:41Speaker 3: the count, because a lot of times they'll play with
- 16:43Speaker 3: the two bigs and two stand up edge guys. Now
- 16:45Speaker 3: the edge guys Mac and Tweet below to are strong,
- 16:47Speaker 3: firm guys, but two big guys, And I thought, okay,
- 16:50Speaker 3: well they will they end up going with three bigs
- 16:52Speaker 3: to try and slow the run that Jacksonville got them on.
- 16:54Speaker 3: Come you know, before the buying some of the issues.
- 16:56Speaker 3: What they did is they're just adding the safety to
- 16:58Speaker 3: the box a lot more so for being such a
- 17:00Speaker 3: too high team. You saw Derwin James buzzing down there.
- 17:04Speaker 3: You saw Mickens get down there in the mix, Tony
- 17:06Speaker 3: Jefferson h taking chances down there. So they're just adding
- 17:09Speaker 3: a number to try and you know, add to the
- 17:11Speaker 3: box there. But I wanted to get to get you this, baldy.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Is there a more underrated player in the NFL right now?
- 17:18Speaker 3: Quietly having an unbelievable start to his career in a
- 17:21Speaker 3: great year Tully twoy Polo two. Does he got ten sacks?
- 17:25Speaker 3: Now he had a game. He had seven tackles, two sacks,
- 17:27Speaker 3: four TFLs in this game. So his rookie year he
- 17:29Speaker 3: goes four and a half sacks. Is a part time
- 17:31Speaker 3: player eight and a half sacks. Last year he's got ten.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Now he's gonna end up fourteen or so sacks by
- 17:36Speaker 3: the end of the season. Baldy, he is twenty three
- 17:39Speaker 3: years old. He's in his third year in the NFL.
- 17:41Speaker 3: He is only twenty three years old.
- 17:43Speaker 1: And you know what I mean, And he's as sending sending,
- 17:46Speaker 1: and I you know the way that they use him.
- 17:48Speaker 4: You know, they move around, put him over guard outside,
- 17:52Speaker 4: they twist them a lot. You know, they use them
- 17:54Speaker 4: the right way.
- 17:55Speaker 1: I'm not that he kiln't you just play on the edge,
- 17:57Speaker 1: you know, and just live on the edge, because I
- 17:59Speaker 1: think he's good enough to do that. But I like
- 18:00Speaker 1: the way that they move him around too. I thought
- 18:02Speaker 1: Minder's done a good job with them. But you could tell,
- 18:06Speaker 1: like even when he was at USC like he had
- 18:09Speaker 1: real core strengthened to him, Like he goes through if
- 18:12Speaker 1: he's on the edge, he's hard to get to shop
- 18:15Speaker 1: his feet from going forward.
- 18:17Speaker 4: He gets on your.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Edge, heavy heavy hands man, but Buck.
- 18:20Speaker 3: That's one of those things too when you look at it,
- 18:22Speaker 3: when we're going through the scouting process in the spring,
- 18:25Speaker 3: and because of the COVID year, because of you know,
- 18:27Speaker 3: reach your years and things, we're seeing a lot of
- 18:29Speaker 3: guys like Brozmer started yesterday from Minnesota quarterback.
- 18:32Speaker 2: It's twenty four years old.
- 18:33Speaker 3: What have you this guy's been this is his third
- 18:35Speaker 3: year in the league.
- 18:35Speaker 2: He's only twenty three years old.
- 18:37Speaker 5: Yeah, trying to find young guys, trying to find young
- 18:39Speaker 5: guys that are still on the come up. You know,
- 18:42Speaker 5: it's great that you're talking about like the young pass
- 18:45Speaker 5: Ruger for the Charges kind of settling in when I
- 18:48Speaker 5: look at the Charger and that road is tough in
- 18:49Speaker 5: terms of what they got to navigate the last few.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Weeks of the year.
- 18:52Speaker 5: But once again, man, the AFC field is so wide
- 18:56Speaker 5: open it I think any coach standing in front of
- 18:58Speaker 5: the room can legitimate map out a path or his
- 19:01Speaker 5: team to go to the Super Bowl. Get the guys
- 19:03Speaker 5: by end, and so the Charges are right there. It's
- 19:06Speaker 5: gonna be so fun to not have like the team
- 19:09Speaker 5: that everyone is ready to pencil in. It's gonna make
- 19:12Speaker 5: for a very exciting postseason.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Watch well.
- 19:14Speaker 4: I mean, I think the team see the two weeks
- 19:16Speaker 4: DJ in Kansas City for that.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Charge, Oh that's gonna be huge.
- 19:20Speaker 5: Man.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Hey.
- 19:20Speaker 3: The other thing sneaky thinking about the Chargers is they're
- 19:23Speaker 3: seven and two I believe now in the a f C,
- 19:25Speaker 3: which when you get all these teams jumbled up together
- 19:28Speaker 3: the tiebreaker. And the other thing is they're undefeated in
- 19:31Speaker 3: the division. They're now four to ozh inside the inside
- 19:33Speaker 3: the division with two games remaining at Kansas City at Denver.
- 19:37Speaker 3: So a couple of big ones there. Let's take quick break,
- 19:39Speaker 3: we come back. We'll knock out some of these ball games. Baldi,
- 19:46Speaker 3: were you at you at the Jets? You had Atlanta Jets.
- 19:49Speaker 3: I was at Jets yesterday.
- 19:50Speaker 1: The crowd looked like like low level high school championship football.
- 19:55Speaker 1: That was nice, but they but they were entertained. I mean,
- 19:58Speaker 1: I'll give you, I'll give it Glenn credit. Like it
- 20:01Speaker 1: was ugly. It was ugly on both sides. But the
- 20:05Speaker 1: Jets special teams have been special. Like Isaiah Williams is
- 20:08Speaker 1: a good he's a good returner, Contest Figgers is a
- 20:11Speaker 1: good gunner. You know, the kicker is excellent, kicks a
- 20:14Speaker 1: fifty eight yard er to win the game, Like it's
- 20:17Speaker 1: a I don't know what it was falling out of
- 20:18Speaker 1: the sky. I don't know if it was a mist,
- 20:21Speaker 1: if it was sleep, if it was rained.
- 20:22Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 20:23Speaker 4: Some was falling the whole day. But you know, I mean,
- 20:27Speaker 4: the one thing about the.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Jets right now is like people thought like a d
- 20:31Speaker 1: Mitchell was going to be a throw in on this trade.
- 20:35Speaker 1: What would you have on any Mitchell here DJ, Because
- 20:39Speaker 1: that guy all I see him do is get behind
- 20:40Speaker 1: people and he get behind uh, you know, the corner of Atlanta.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Yesterday they launched a bomb to him. But I've seen
- 20:47Speaker 1: it now two or three weeks in a row where
- 20:50Speaker 1: that guy looks like he could be, you know, if
- 20:52Speaker 1: Garrett comes back healthy and everything, Like I can see
- 20:54Speaker 1: a d Mitchell being, you know, the ex receiver in
- 20:57Speaker 1: that offense for a long time right now.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Yeah, at night Mitchell six oh two two two oh five,
- 21:03Speaker 3: So six two and a quarter two o five he
- 21:05Speaker 3: ran four three four. The first thing I wrote down
- 21:07Speaker 3: is this guy is a freak. He's a gown ground gainer,
- 21:11Speaker 3: a lot of fifty to fifty wins. He torched kool
- 21:13Speaker 3: aid McKinstry when they played Alabama. He can adjust on
- 21:15Speaker 3: the back shoulder, he can work back. He's a hands catcher.
- 21:19Speaker 3: I thought he had some tempo as a route runner.
- 21:21Speaker 3: I mean he was my twenty seventh overall player in
- 21:24Speaker 3: that draft. Yeah, so that's not that yeah, anything but
- 21:27Speaker 3: a throwaway. And in this game, just going through watching
- 21:31Speaker 3: him in this one eight for a bucko two and
- 21:33Speaker 3: a touchdown, speed outs.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Deep posts.
- 21:36Speaker 3: I just wrote speed speed, speed, like he looked like
- 21:38Speaker 3: the fastest guy in the field and he's out there.
- 21:40Speaker 3: Garrett Wilson can roll now. But they they've got a
- 21:43Speaker 3: track team now that they've assembled. They just got to
- 21:45Speaker 3: get the right trigger man.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Yeah, they did a quarterback, the quarterback, but you know,
- 21:49Speaker 1: toy Rod was he was a terrible but he can
- 21:51Speaker 1: still like he he based.
- 21:53Speaker 2: An upgrade over what they've been doing.
- 21:54Speaker 1: It's an upgrades, you know, he can still I mean
- 21:56Speaker 1: it's just fifteen years now for Tyrod, Like, he can
- 21:58Speaker 1: still run. He extending please, running away from the falcons
- 22:02Speaker 1: they go. They got Pierce and Jaen Walker and they
- 22:04Speaker 1: got all these young guys. He's he's running away from
- 22:06Speaker 1: all of them for first downs and extending you know,
- 22:09Speaker 1: extending quite a few plays, so, you know, and he
- 22:12Speaker 1: got the one deep ball to Ady Mitchell was which
- 22:14Speaker 1: was huesday, they got a muff punt, you know that.
- 22:17Speaker 1: You know, the ball fell in Quantestigger's hands at the
- 22:20Speaker 1: two yard line. Pre scored in the next play.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Uh.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Look they they they earned that win. You know it
- 22:26Speaker 1: was uh it looked it was ugly. But you know,
- 22:29Speaker 1: I would say that they've won three of their last
- 22:31Speaker 1: five games. So there is there is an uptick to
- 22:34Speaker 1: what the Jets are doing. And you good luck trying
- 22:36Speaker 1: to you know, tell me like who Jawan you know,
- 22:39Speaker 1: Briggs is and some of these guys that are playing
- 22:41Speaker 1: for him right now.
- 22:42Speaker 4: But you know they're playing pretty hard overall for Aaron
- 22:45Speaker 4: right now.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Bucks seventh and twenty third picks in the draft for
- 22:48Speaker 3: the Jets right now, and I'll tell you what the Colts,
- 22:50Speaker 3: just with how that division is is so competitive now
- 22:52Speaker 3: that twenty third pick could end up coming a little
- 22:55Speaker 3: bit higher here.
- 22:56Speaker 5: Yeah, this infretted. Everyone's going to talk about like the
- 22:58Speaker 5: quarterback stuff and whatever. Get to that draft conversation like
- 23:02Speaker 5: later on. But like if you're the Jets and you're
- 23:04Speaker 5: looking at the core man Tyro Taylor just for now
- 23:08Speaker 5: gives them stability. And I just remember having a conversation
- 23:10Speaker 5: years ago with Mike Tomlin about Tyrod Taylor. He talked
- 23:14Speaker 5: about because they're from the same area. He just talked
- 23:16Speaker 5: about whenever he's in the room, you feel his alpha personality.
- 23:20Speaker 5: And when you think about the two different personalities that
- 23:22Speaker 5: you had in Justin Fields and Tyro Taylor, maybe just
- 23:25Speaker 5: maybe the Jets respond better than Tyrod just because of
- 23:28Speaker 5: who he is and the leadership that he brings to
- 23:30Speaker 5: the table outside of the skills that body was talking about.
- 23:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I think he'll throw the ball. I think that
- 23:35Speaker 3: also helps helps his cause there. He's just he's not
- 23:38Speaker 3: afraid to let it, let it rip. He sneak that
- 23:42Speaker 3: one under the door. Baldy Man. The most impressive win
- 23:47Speaker 3: of the week, Carolina Panthers. They take out the Rams
- 23:50Speaker 3: thirty one to twenty eight. Outstanding performance by Carolina. And man,
- 23:54Speaker 3: I'll tell you what, Dan Morgan, he's got to be
- 23:56Speaker 3: in the mix for Executive of the Year. Dave Canal
- 23:58Speaker 3: is going to be in the knicks for Coach of
- 24:00Speaker 3: the Year. What they've done with this Carolina team.
- 24:02Speaker 1: I mean, that was that was the best team in football,
- 24:04Speaker 1: and I don't think anybody was arguing last week they
- 24:06Speaker 1: climbed to number one, you know in the league in defense.
- 24:10Speaker 1: But Derek Brown like is having a monster season. You
- 24:13Speaker 1: know two years ago before he got hurt. He's the
- 24:15Speaker 1: first defensive tackle to ever have one hundred tackles in
- 24:17Speaker 1: a season. Like, the guy doesn't come off the field.
- 24:20Speaker 1: He plays nearly every down. But he made two huge plays.
- 24:23Speaker 1: He tipped the ball that Nick Scott intercept the Enzo.
- 24:27Speaker 1: He got the ball out of Stafford's hands when they're
- 24:29Speaker 1: going in to score, and uh you know they they
- 24:32Speaker 1: they pick up the fumble right there. Uh, dj Wadham
- 24:35Speaker 1: they you know ever O can coach man, he's just
- 24:41Speaker 1: a good coach. He gainst those guys to play hard.
- 24:43Speaker 1: They're they're a good defensive front. They're physical. Uh you
- 24:46Speaker 1: talked about Lathan Ransom. You know that that kid got
- 24:49Speaker 1: a chance to start and uh you know he was
- 24:51Speaker 1: just like literally a meteor coming out of the sky
- 24:54Speaker 1: just crashing into people.
- 24:56Speaker 4: Uh that that.
- 24:57Speaker 1: And then Bryce Young, like I know he threw for
- 25:00Speaker 1: four against the Falcons two weeks ago, and then last
- 25:02Speaker 1: week he was terrible, and then this week you know
- 25:05Speaker 1: he found the deep ball, a good touch on it,
- 25:07Speaker 1: and you know they.
- 25:09Speaker 4: They put up a big number on the Rams. That
- 25:11Speaker 4: was an impressive win.
- 25:13Speaker 5: Where do you think, Buck, Look, man, I am so
- 25:17Speaker 5: surprised at the Carolina Panthers, right because one week they
- 25:20Speaker 5: can go and snatch down the top team, then the
- 25:22Speaker 5: next week they underperformed. But I will say, like wathingtonm
- 25:27Speaker 5: play against the San Francisco forty nine because I watched.
- 25:29Speaker 2: That money in the football game and you're like, Okay,
- 25:30Speaker 2: you can see the potential. The defense gave them a chance.
- 25:33Speaker 5: Offensively, Bryce Young wasn't there, But then to watch them
- 25:36Speaker 5: come back against.
- 25:37Speaker 2: The La Rams and to play the way that they
- 25:39Speaker 2: played is really remarkable.
- 25:40Speaker 5: I think about Bryce Young being able to hit Tam
- 25:42Speaker 5: McMillan on the outside, Bryce Young being able to have
- 25:46Speaker 5: We talked about the Rams being the best team in
- 25:48Speaker 5: football like heading into that that is a major feather
- 25:51Speaker 5: in decaf. And so the Panthers be sitting at seven
- 25:54Speaker 5: and six in the division where maybe they kind of
- 25:57Speaker 5: find a way to get into the postseason. Yeah, a
- 26:00Speaker 5: great job by Canal. It's Morgan everybody. More importantly, one
- 26:03Speaker 5: person in North Carolina's really happened.
- 26:05Speaker 2: That's my little brother.
- 26:05Speaker 5: My little brother loves I don't know why my little brother.
- 26:09Speaker 5: He rise or dies with all things. He's up and
- 26:11Speaker 5: down on the emotional thing. He's super sad. I texted
- 26:14Speaker 5: him last night. He was like, finally, finally they're able
- 26:17Speaker 5: to get it done.
- 26:17Speaker 2: I was like, man, like that. Who knows?
- 26:20Speaker 4: You know?
- 26:21Speaker 2: That's funny man.
- 26:22Speaker 3: I just pulled up my notes. I didn't realize. Gosh
- 26:24Speaker 3: it was I realized he'd been back in twenty twenties.
- 26:27Speaker 3: Derek Brown's been in the league for a minute now time.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Has excellent sized power and athleticism. As a pass rusher,
- 26:34Speaker 3: quick first step uses his hands. He wins the violent
- 26:38Speaker 3: club swim move or rip move, or a nifty little
- 26:40Speaker 3: up and under counter move against the run. He can
- 26:42Speaker 3: easily hold the point of attack auburn product. Creates separation
- 26:45Speaker 3: from blockers with an explosive punch with allows him to
- 26:48Speaker 3: close quickly and make plays.
- 26:49Speaker 2: His effort is consistent.
- 26:50Speaker 3: Overall, this is a complete player capable of dominating on
- 26:53Speaker 3: all three downs.
- 26:54Speaker 2: He'll be a difference maker day one.
- 26:55Speaker 4: What do you have on Jalen Cocher?
- 26:58Speaker 1: You know he's basically jumped over exabularly yet you know
- 27:02Speaker 1: as the number two receiver to tet But he I
- 27:05Speaker 1: know he's big, but.
- 27:06Speaker 4: He looks like he runs really well.
- 27:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll pull him up here. Cooker was in the
- 27:11Speaker 3: twenty four class. He went undrafted. He was at a
- 27:16Speaker 3: holy Cross six to oh one, three two oh eight,
- 27:20Speaker 3: ran four five seven. He plays outside, he can change tempo,
- 27:25Speaker 3: he can stutter go. That was kind of He had
- 27:27Speaker 3: some big plays, excellent ball skills in the red zone.
- 27:30Speaker 3: He wasn't super dynamic after the catch in college. But
- 27:34Speaker 3: someone who can play above the rim, size, physicality.
- 27:37Speaker 4: Okay, blocker too.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a big, strong, tough kid. I don't think you.
- 27:42Speaker 3: I don't think the route through holy Cross, uh is
- 27:45Speaker 3: going to be one that's not a tough kid. Now,
- 27:47Speaker 3: if you can go from holy Cross to the National
- 27:49Speaker 3: Football League undrafted player, I don't know if the being
- 27:52Speaker 3: tough is going.
- 27:52Speaker 4: To be my find guy at holy Cross in the
- 27:54Speaker 4: NBA made every once in a while.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Yeah, or lacrosse, I mean I think, yeah, get somebody there,
- 27:59Speaker 3: no question, But man was it was a big time game.
- 28:02Speaker 3: Watching Lathan Ransom was a lot of fun. In this
- 28:04Speaker 3: game ball, you get a chance to break that one
- 28:07Speaker 3: down Bryce Young, buck. I was laughing because I was
- 28:10Speaker 3: like looking at looking at him on tape, and gosh,
- 28:13Speaker 3: I never get used to how small he looks like
- 28:14Speaker 3: for some reason, Kyler is smaller, but Kyler doesn't feel
- 28:17Speaker 3: as small. Rice feels so small. But he's got He's
- 28:20Speaker 3: done a really good job of just find the windows.
- 28:22Speaker 3: He can kind of drift out of the pocket, find
- 28:24Speaker 3: different throwing lanes, little game of hot potato, and then
- 28:26Speaker 3: every now and then he'll he'll he'll get one deep.
- 28:28Speaker 3: But this is this is the type of team he
- 28:31Speaker 3: was meant to play on where you've got a great defense.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Hey be efficient, create a couple of plays here and there,
- 28:36Speaker 3: but just be smart. I mean, Bryce Young is an
- 28:38Speaker 3: incredibly smart kid.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Be smart.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Take what's there and it's fifteen for twenty. We're not
- 28:42Speaker 3: asking to throw it forty times two hundred and six
- 28:44Speaker 3: yards three touchdowns, and he's going to go use his
- 28:46Speaker 3: legs and go get a couple first downs with your
- 28:48Speaker 3: legs as well. Like he's playing exactly the way he
- 28:51Speaker 3: needs to play. And it's it's been a good fit
- 28:53Speaker 3: there with him and Dave Canalis, and it.
- 28:54Speaker 5: Has been a good fit and I think he's taking
- 28:55Speaker 5: a while with Dave Canalis to finally kind of settle
- 28:58Speaker 5: in and kind of figure out how to build and
- 29:00Speaker 5: called the game. But Bryce Young at quarterback. But Bryce
- 29:02Speaker 5: Young is the example of why you bet on the
- 29:05Speaker 5: person more so than all the talents and trace and
- 29:08Speaker 5: those things, because the reason why you bet on the
- 29:10Speaker 5: person is you bet on him being able to figure
- 29:12Speaker 5: it out. I think he showed a tremendous amount of growth.
- 29:15Speaker 2: LEAs it's all he's done. Yeah, when that's all he's done.
- 29:19Speaker 5: He bounced back, he handled the bitching the way that
- 29:22Speaker 5: you want, came back, played well, did the things that
- 29:24Speaker 5: you want to do. And you're right, DJ, his ego
- 29:27Speaker 5: isn't necessarily tied to the numbers. It's tied to winning
- 29:30Speaker 5: and all we want is a winning quarterback in Look, man,
- 29:33Speaker 5: the Panthers are right there. They still need to add
- 29:35Speaker 5: some stuff to it, but you have to feel good
- 29:37Speaker 5: about like state of the franchise where they're going. They
- 29:40Speaker 5: do have some critical pieces figured out with the people
- 29:43Speaker 5: that they have in place.
- 29:45Speaker 2: Yeah, no doubt.
- 29:47Speaker 3: Bryce Young, by the way, a gat and put it
- 29:48Speaker 3: in the chat here third and fourth down eight to
- 29:50Speaker 3: ten for a Bucks sixty two and all three touchdowns
- 29:52Speaker 3: came on later downs, So impressive, impressive win there for
- 29:56Speaker 3: the Carolina Panthers. Baldy Buffalo Pittsburgh. I mean, I guess
- 29:59Speaker 3: you can go wherever you want. You want to go,
- 30:01Speaker 3: good Buffalo, bad Pittsburgh.
- 30:04Speaker 6: Uh, Well, when you run the ball for two hundred
- 30:07Speaker 6: and fifty yards, the most anybody's ever run the ball
- 30:09Speaker 6: against Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, two hundred and fifty yards, and
- 30:12Speaker 6: it was I mean, it was Ray Davis, it was
- 30:15Speaker 6: you know, it was uh Cook, it was it was everybody.
- 30:18Speaker 1: And really Josh didn't have to do very much in
- 30:21Speaker 1: that game. They then played with two backup offense tackles,
- 30:24Speaker 1: Anderson's at the right tackle, vandem was at the left tackle.
- 30:27Speaker 4: Means it didn't seem to make any difference. Pittsburgh looks.
- 30:31Speaker 1: I'm not going to say they're disinterested, but nobody's doing anything.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Nate herber Nick Herbig is the only guy that made
- 30:37Speaker 1: a play on defense the whole day. He got a
- 30:40Speaker 1: ball out of the out of Cook's hands and they
- 30:44Speaker 1: recovered it. But they were so disappointing defensively and then offensively,
- 30:48Speaker 1: they don't do anything. They throw to the backs doesn't
- 30:50Speaker 1: matter if Aaron Rodgers has a healthy hand and done,
- 30:53Speaker 1: they can't get the ball down the field. And I
- 30:56Speaker 1: don't know I thought that. I thought Buffalo's defense, some
- 30:59Speaker 1: of the young guys, TJ. Sanders, some of those young guys,
- 31:02Speaker 1: Joey Bosa made the play of the day, you know,
- 31:05Speaker 1: to get the ball out of Aaron's hands.
- 31:07Speaker 4: And you know, I thought that the corner like mad
- 31:11Speaker 4: made a.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Big play right there, made a couple of plays. I
- 31:14Speaker 1: got the interception, you got the fumble recover for the touchdown.
- 31:17Speaker 1: So that was I mean, honestly, they were They never
- 31:21Speaker 1: seemed like they were into the game. They couldn't convert
- 31:23Speaker 1: a fourth down. They blew two opportunities for fourth downs
- 31:26Speaker 1: to continue drives, they couldn't make it. And just watching Aaron,
- 31:30Speaker 1: like every time something goes wrong, he's just like like
- 31:34Speaker 1: the emotion just comes out of him, Like it could
- 31:37Speaker 1: be his bad throat, it could be the receiver not
- 31:38Speaker 1: running the run the right route, or the running back
- 31:41Speaker 1: you know, getting stoned at the line of scrimmage on
- 31:43Speaker 1: fourth down. He looks just totally frustrated.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Well, I look at their defense and watching all the
- 31:49Speaker 3: runs that they gave up in this game, Buffalo ran
- 31:51Speaker 3: the ball down their throats and I'm sitting there thinking, Okay,
- 31:53Speaker 3: we always talk about using the phrase everybody's got to
- 31:55Speaker 3: be on a string, right, everybody's got to be playing together,
- 31:58Speaker 3: everybody working as one. So if you were looking at
- 32:01Speaker 3: gaps and you just like put up like four fingers,
- 32:03Speaker 3: like this would kind of like you're filling each one
- 32:05Speaker 3: of these gaps. Pittsburgh all they want you to put
- 32:07Speaker 3: up your four fingers. I can show you what that. Yeah,
- 32:09Speaker 3: that's what they look like trying to fill those four gaps.
- 32:12Speaker 3: You're gonna run right through there. It's a nice, big
- 32:15Speaker 3: wide opening. But I mean they've got plays where you'll
- 32:17Speaker 3: see secondary players they'll go to try and take on
- 32:21Speaker 3: a receiver just to get a hit, and I'm like,
- 32:23Speaker 3: where are you going they go get they're running blocked. Yeah,
- 32:28Speaker 3: it's it's the opposite of everything I've ever heard with
- 32:30Speaker 3: defensive football. It's like, don't go to get blocked, like
- 32:33Speaker 3: what are we doing? And then and then the corners
- 32:36Speaker 3: like they're contain they just get lost inside. And it
- 32:43Speaker 3: was equal opportunity because I had to look up James
- 32:45Speaker 3: Pierre because I didn't know which number who that was
- 32:47Speaker 3: at that point in time. So James Pierre uh JPJ
- 32:50Speaker 3: happened to him. Huggers out of douggers out of position.
- 32:54Speaker 2: You've got uh.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Uh Ramsey who is one of the ones at one time,
- 32:58Speaker 3: he's just going to take on the receiver on the
- 33:00Speaker 3: balls coming right out, Like where are you going? What
- 33:02Speaker 3: are you guys doing? It's the opposite of being on
- 33:05Speaker 3: a string.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Buck, is what I was getting to Will.
- 33:08Speaker 5: And I will say this because you and Baldy have
- 33:11Speaker 5: seen as a ton right. So everyone was talking about
- 33:13Speaker 5: the Buffalo Bills running basically two plays out of one formation,
- 33:16Speaker 5: so it was like a snug package whatever, but really
- 33:19Speaker 5: what it is it's an unbalanced line. It's five to
- 33:21Speaker 5: a side, two to the backside, and if you don't
- 33:23Speaker 5: get aligned right, they'll gut you. They're running duo or
- 33:26Speaker 5: zone to that side and they're double team and everyone
- 33:28Speaker 5: on the front side because you don't have the numbers.
- 33:30Speaker 5: And I'm sitting here and I'm like, okay, man, there's
- 33:32Speaker 5: some there's some bright minds, but this is kind.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Of like high school.
- 33:35Speaker 5: Like at some point they're gonna see and they make
- 33:37Speaker 5: it jump and never did they adjust properly to this thing?
- 33:42Speaker 5: And I've never seen this in a game where they
- 33:45Speaker 5: run for two ones and the fifty yards and they're
- 33:47Speaker 5: literally running zone to the strong side, zone to the backside,
- 33:52Speaker 5: like over and over again. And it exposed to like
- 33:56Speaker 5: a discipline and attention to detail for the still is defense.
- 34:00Speaker 2: And I'm gonna say this, the Stillers are known for
- 34:02Speaker 2: the defense.
- 34:03Speaker 5: The one thing that you have to be good at
- 34:04Speaker 5: if you're coaching, you got to be good on defense
- 34:06Speaker 5: in Pittsburgh, like that's what the people come to see
- 34:08Speaker 5: from the seventies.
- 34:09Speaker 2: On and the fact that they're this bad on.
- 34:12Speaker 5: Defense, and as Baldi talked about, it's interested there's some
- 34:17Speaker 5: kind of disconnect that's going on there in the locker
- 34:19Speaker 5: room because I've never seen this happen from this team.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Baldi, I don't know what. I don't know where the
- 34:27Speaker 2: good is.
- 34:27Speaker 3: I I don't I'm trying to be positive on all
- 34:30Speaker 3: these things when you look at and go, Okay, what's
- 34:32Speaker 3: the what's the good? I mean, I think they have
- 34:33Speaker 3: some good young pieces on the offensive line.
- 34:35Speaker 2: But.
- 34:37Speaker 1: I feel like I feel like this offense, DJ is
- 34:41Speaker 1: literally Arthur is just there and he's just calling plays like.
- 34:44Speaker 4: There's no feelin to anything.
- 34:47Speaker 1: I'm just calling plays, you know, and ultimately it's a
- 34:51Speaker 1: check down to warn or it's a check down, uh
- 34:54Speaker 1: you know to the backs. They don't they don't know
- 34:58Speaker 1: how to get the ball down the field. And you know,
- 35:01Speaker 1: and Aaron like when he gets a chance to make
- 35:03Speaker 1: a throw, he didn't make a lot of them, you know,
- 35:06Speaker 1: and the same same issues we saw in New York
- 35:10Speaker 1: last year where you know, he gets a receiver open,
- 35:13Speaker 1: it's third down, you got to make the throw. You
- 35:14Speaker 1: got to stay on the field, and the ball's bouncing
- 35:17Speaker 1: off the turf. It didn't look good. You know, there's
- 35:21Speaker 1: too many If he's getting hit, that's one thing. But
- 35:24Speaker 1: when he said to his feet and he's making a
- 35:25Speaker 1: throw and he's got a good lane, like the ball
- 35:28Speaker 1: isn't going where he wants it.
- 35:29Speaker 2: To go, no doubt.
- 35:31Speaker 3: Before we before we scoot here, because that was all
- 35:33Speaker 3: the you know, the big ones we wanted to talk
- 35:34Speaker 3: about from Sunday. But I want to get back to
- 35:36Speaker 3: the previous games we had Thursday Friday. So I'm just
- 35:38Speaker 3: going to ask you, guys. I'm going to give you
- 35:40Speaker 3: the four options of the four teams the most impressive. Okay,
- 35:43Speaker 3: you ready, Here's here's the four teams. Dallas is the team,
- 35:46Speaker 3: Green Bay, Chicago and Joe Burrow.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Those are the four.
- 35:50Speaker 4: Teams and his game. He could never play good in
- 35:57Speaker 4: two years. I know it's the best thing.
- 35:59Speaker 3: But what happens when that guy comes back, Baldy? The
- 36:02Speaker 3: coffee tastes better, Everything just looks better, you know.
- 36:05Speaker 1: I actually I was listening to the postgame press conference
- 36:10Speaker 1: on Thursday night with him, and you know, he was
- 36:12Speaker 1: getting emotional because like, you know, why are you coming
- 36:14Speaker 1: back to play? And like he just likes to play,
- 36:17Speaker 1: you know, like this is the reason why you get
- 36:20Speaker 1: into this game. Yeah, the money, that all that stuff,
- 36:23Speaker 1: Like he just wants to play and just the opportunity
- 36:26Speaker 1: to go out there.
- 36:27Speaker 4: And throw the ball to Chase and do it.
- 36:29Speaker 1: Like I was getting emotional just listening to him talk
- 36:31Speaker 1: about the opportunity out there.
- 36:35Speaker 5: Okay, So we talked about most impressive. I'm gonna say Chicago,
- 36:38Speaker 5: And the only reason I want to bring up Chicago.
- 36:40Speaker 5: I think we all expected the Green Bay packing to
- 36:41Speaker 5: be good, the Cowboys offense, I think we've talked about,
- 36:45Speaker 5: but the Bears to go to Philadelphia and to Donkey
- 36:48Speaker 5: kick them in the running game like they did.
- 36:51Speaker 3: Like to me, that is emasculated for the I mean
- 36:54Speaker 3: just and like people will be always begging.
- 36:57Speaker 5: But it's one thing to see that offensive line up
- 37:01Speaker 5: route Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis and put them on
- 37:05Speaker 5: skatese I know, we can talk about the scheme like
- 37:08Speaker 5: flat suite one way, cut back the other, but that
- 37:10Speaker 5: offensive line moved them off the ball. And that is
- 37:13Speaker 5: one of those things that when you put that on tape,
- 37:16Speaker 5: that is like, oh boy, not only for the Eagles
- 37:19Speaker 5: but for the Bears, Like, oh, this might be a
- 37:21Speaker 5: far more physical team than people envision. I mean, that
- 37:26Speaker 5: is ridiculous, you know, And as they're gaining confidence that
- 37:29Speaker 5: they can be what I call physical with pizazz Man,
- 37:33Speaker 5: look out, I mean look at. They're not supposed to
- 37:36Speaker 5: be able to turn around in a year like that,
- 37:38Speaker 5: but look out, because if they can run the football
- 37:40Speaker 5: like that, it opens up everything for what they want
- 37:42Speaker 5: to do.
- 37:44Speaker 3: So I was thinking about this, Has there ever been
- 37:47Speaker 3: a year where there's been a more impressive off season
- 37:51Speaker 3: in terms of the three piece baldy We've been talking
- 37:53Speaker 3: about forever with quarterbacks, young quarterbacks, the keys are the
- 37:55Speaker 3: three piece. You gotta have the right play caller, you
- 37:57Speaker 3: got to have protection, you gotta have playmakers. So if
- 38:00Speaker 3: you look at the offseason that they had, they remade
- 38:03Speaker 3: the entire offensive line. Yeah, I mean, which is playing
- 38:05Speaker 3: in this game, especially in the running of dominant But
- 38:07Speaker 3: they protected Caleb, so they take care of that playmakers.
- 38:10Speaker 3: You go out in the draft and you get Loveland, Burden,
- 38:13Speaker 3: Manung guy, those guys all doing their things and as
- 38:16Speaker 3: new pieces in there, and then probably I don't know
- 38:18Speaker 3: that there's an argument right now the best play caller
- 38:21Speaker 3: with how he's going right now in the NFL and
- 38:23Speaker 3: Ben Johnson like this, if you want a blueprint for
- 38:26Speaker 3: how to help a young talented quarterback, this is going
- 38:28Speaker 3: to be the blueprint going forward for people.
- 38:30Speaker 4: And there's there's there's really.
- 38:32Speaker 1: I mean, you go in to Philly on a short
- 38:33Speaker 1: week like that and do what they did, like Bucky's
- 38:36Speaker 1: talking about. I mean, nobody has done about the Philadelphia's
- 38:38Speaker 1: defense in two years. Nobody's done that. No matter what
- 38:42Speaker 1: Darnell right did, you just cave it into the whole
- 38:45Speaker 1: side of the line. He's never played better. He looks
- 38:47Speaker 1: like Pinney Sewell out there the way he's playing right now.
- 38:50Speaker 1: But the one thing that's impressive, because so many teams
- 38:53Speaker 1: in this league, just watching these games week and week out,
- 38:56Speaker 1: they don't know how to make a yard when they
- 38:58Speaker 1: need a yard. The Chicago Bears, I don't care if
- 39:02Speaker 1: it's on the goal line, if it's in the middle
- 39:03Speaker 1: of the field, if it's fourth and one. That team
- 39:06Speaker 1: knows how to make a yard. And it's not some
- 39:08Speaker 1: gimmick like. They just know how to move you and
- 39:11Speaker 1: find the crease.
- 39:12Speaker 4: And they did it. They did it repeatedly to the Eagles.
- 39:15Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 39:15Speaker 3: Man, there's a big time, big time performance. And the
- 39:18Speaker 3: Green Bay defense is for real. The Dallas offense is
- 39:21Speaker 3: for real. Their defense has gotten much better. You're seeing
- 39:24Speaker 3: some teams really surging right now. Man, it's fun to watch,
- 39:27Speaker 3: and I think the commonality Buck. I was talking to
- 39:30Speaker 3: Baldi earlier this morning and said, man, you look at
- 39:31Speaker 3: all these teams that are hot right now, with Houston
- 39:34Speaker 3: being one of them. Maybe at the top of the list.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Physicality is back, man. The Bears have proven that. You're
- 39:39Speaker 3: seeing that with a lot of these teams getting hot
- 39:42Speaker 3: right now, especially as the weather's changing. Man, the physical
- 39:45Speaker 3: teams are on the rise, and if you're not, you're
- 39:47Speaker 3: in big trouble right now.
- 39:49Speaker 2: Yeah, because the level of playing field.
- 39:52Speaker 5: If you don't have the talent, you certainly can always
- 39:54Speaker 5: have the toughness, and the toughness shows up. The other
- 39:57Speaker 5: thing that stands out to me about the season, you
- 39:59Speaker 5: realize that it's marathon, not a sprint. I think about
- 40:01Speaker 5: all the teams that jump out, but the teams that
- 40:04Speaker 5: we're talking about now may have had poor starts, but
- 40:07Speaker 5: you're seeing them get better as we get to the finish.
- 40:10Speaker 2: If you're able to keep perspective.
- 40:11Speaker 5: On how long the season is. A coach can fix
- 40:14Speaker 5: the team after a slow first month. But you've got
- 40:17Speaker 5: to have that perspective and you got to be willing
- 40:19Speaker 5: to do the work and make the adjustments. But yeah,
- 40:20Speaker 5: it's a marathon, not a sprint.
- 40:22Speaker 4: I'm real quick here.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Since DeMarco Jackson, I mean, obviously it's pretty impressive him
- 40:28Speaker 1: and am Ed I mean those are the number four,
- 40:30Speaker 1: number five linebackers.
- 40:31Speaker 4: On that team. That's two weeks in a row.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Ozzie Trapil goes in and makes his you know, first
- 40:36Speaker 1: start over there at left tackle. Didn't have any issues
- 40:39Speaker 1: with Nolan Smith, anybody out there. I always think like
- 40:42Speaker 1: when it's the next guy up and they perform like
- 40:46Speaker 1: better than the stars or as good as the stars,
- 40:48Speaker 1: Like that's good coaching. That's good coaching, good scouting, good developing.
- 40:52Speaker 1: And that's what you're seeing, you know, from the Bears right.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Now, no doubt.
- 40:55Speaker 3: I mean we talked about earlier with I saw with
- 40:57Speaker 3: the charge of Kamani Bydell. You know, this is a
- 41:00Speaker 3: Day three draft pick who's just knocking one hundred yard
- 41:03Speaker 3: games out like they're going out of style in there.
- 41:05Speaker 2: So it's fun to.
- 41:06Speaker 3: Watch these guys get their opportunity to make the most
- 41:08Speaker 3: of them. Trapillo was a fun one to watch in
- 41:10Speaker 3: college too, so I'm happy he's doing well.
- 41:12Speaker 2: All right.
- 41:14Speaker 4: Was he ever at left tackle? Polston College?
- 41:16Speaker 1: I only remember seeing him at right, But that was
- 41:19Speaker 1: the question mark in training camp? Could he go over
- 41:21Speaker 1: and play left?
- 41:23Speaker 3: You know who my comp was? Who haven Stein? Okay, yeah,
- 41:27Speaker 3: six eight? He was six oh eight one three, sixteen.
- 41:30Speaker 3: There wasn't thirty three and times wentn't super long. Right tackle, lockout, control,
- 41:35Speaker 3: stays attached, balance, effective on combos, He can recover. I wrote,
- 41:38Speaker 3: function over fashion not always the not always the prettiest there,
- 41:42Speaker 3: but just got the job done. Baldy stayed attached, that
- 41:45Speaker 3: kept guys blocked. I have to go back to the
- 41:47Speaker 3: research final if he played on the other side, but
- 41:49Speaker 3: that's where he was.
- 41:50Speaker 2: His last year.
- 41:51Speaker 3: Haven Stein's been in this league a long time.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Long time, had a great career. Yeah, Kevin Bayern got
- 41:57Speaker 1: his league leading sixth interception in that game. You know,
- 42:00Speaker 1: I just remember doing like some Middle Tennessee State games
- 42:04Speaker 1: when he was there. Like his skills, it's crazy, like
- 42:07Speaker 1: his interception on Jalen Hurts, Like that's that's a true
- 42:11Speaker 1: center fielder with instincts, the right angle, like reading, the reading,
- 42:15Speaker 1: the route reading, you know, the scramble drill. That's six
- 42:19Speaker 1: in or seven. They like they're they have what what
- 42:22Speaker 1: do they have? Like seventeen interceptions right now? Like it's crazy,
- 42:25Speaker 1: is the way they're taking the ball away, nay Sean
- 42:27Speaker 1: Wright like all of them. They got Jalen Johnson back
- 42:30Speaker 1: right now, Like that secondary is really together.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Alli. I looked it up.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Ozzie Trapillou forty four career starts in college, twenty four
- 42:39Speaker 3: right tackle, twelve at left tackle.
- 42:41Speaker 4: There you go.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Good.
- 42:42Speaker 3: So he got a little work in there, which and
- 42:44Speaker 3: by the way, is such a great thing man, when
- 42:46Speaker 3: you're when you're scouting guys, guys that have had then
- 42:49Speaker 3: cross trained at different spots, because especially if you're not
- 42:52Speaker 3: a if you're not a first round pick, a good
- 42:54Speaker 3: chance you know you're not starting right away.
- 42:56Speaker 4: Ken, you've got to be the tween guys.
- 42:57Speaker 3: Yeah, get us our five best guys out there and.
- 43:01Speaker 2: That helps.
- 43:02Speaker 3: All right, Baldy, you're the best, buddy. We'll see you
- 43:04Speaker 3: next week out there.
- 43:05Speaker 4: Yep.
- 43:05Speaker 3: Okay, there he goes, Buck Baldy, always generous for this time.
- 43:10Speaker 3: I wanted to hit you with one other thing here
- 43:12Speaker 3: before we get out here. So I was talking to
- 43:14Speaker 3: a coaching buddy and we were talking about different offenses
- 43:17Speaker 3: around the league, and I brought up one of the
- 43:19Speaker 3: things that frustrates me with some of these offenses that
- 43:22Speaker 3: I watch, and I'm like, I don't have any data
- 43:24Speaker 3: to support this, but it just I like when guys
- 43:28Speaker 3: get on the ball and go I don't when you
- 43:30Speaker 3: get up there and you just ask these linemen to
- 43:32Speaker 3: hold their water forever, and it's just there's no rhythm
- 43:35Speaker 3: or flow to it. When you're stagnant at the line
- 43:37Speaker 3: of scrimmage and it's not People get this confused and
- 43:40Speaker 3: they go, oh, youually want to want to hurry off offense.
- 43:42Speaker 2: No, no, I'm not talking about that. I was talking
- 43:43Speaker 2: when you get.
- 43:44Speaker 3: Up there, I don't care if you wait in the
- 43:46Speaker 3: huddle forever. It's like it's like a batter going into
- 43:49Speaker 3: the batter's box with no pitching clock. And he's just
- 43:51Speaker 3: sitting there with a bat on his shoulder for fifty seconds,
- 43:54Speaker 3: like you want to get in there, tap the plate
- 43:56Speaker 3: and let's let's get ready to go here. And he
- 43:58Speaker 3: brought up a great point, he said, and you know
- 44:00Speaker 3: they teams have all this stuff. I'm sure we could
- 44:03Speaker 3: find the numbers. But he said, do you know who
- 44:05Speaker 3: the two fastest teams are in terms of from breaking
- 44:08Speaker 3: the huddle to snapping the ball, so not on the
- 44:11Speaker 3: play clock, just the time from breaking the huddle to
- 44:13Speaker 3: snapping the ball. Are the Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Bears.
- 44:17Speaker 3: And you'd be hard pressed to find two offenses that
- 44:19Speaker 3: are humming better than those two offices.
- 44:21Speaker 2: You know what they do.
- 44:22Speaker 3: They don't give you a chance to just take in
- 44:24Speaker 3: the picture. As a defense, they get on the ball
- 44:26Speaker 3: might be a quick shift quick, quick motion. Then we're going,
- 44:29Speaker 3: we're not going to sit like I watched the Eagles
- 44:30Speaker 3: and it drives me bonkers.
- 44:32Speaker 2: Man.
- 44:32Speaker 3: I watched them come up and they just sit there,
- 44:34Speaker 3: and it's like they almost like, oh, crap, I guess
- 44:37Speaker 3: we better snap the ball now. Play clock's about to expire.
- 44:40Speaker 3: Like there's no rhythm to it, man, there's no flow
- 44:42Speaker 3: to it.
- 44:43Speaker 5: So it's funny that you say this, right, because this
- 44:46Speaker 5: is an old school tactic that I learned from coach
- 44:48Speaker 5: Homebreen Mike Coman when he.
- 44:50Speaker 2: Was with the Green Bay Packers.
- 44:51Speaker 5: When we would play defenses like the Pittsburgh Steelers who
- 44:54Speaker 5: were notorious for three or.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Four with all the movement. Yeah, people think tempo is
- 44:58Speaker 2: oh we're on the ball and going. Yeah.
- 45:00Speaker 5: When we played those teams, DJ it was huddle line
- 45:04Speaker 5: of scrimmage, Go, huddle line of.
- 45:05Speaker 2: Scrimmage, Go go, go exactly first sound go.
- 45:09Speaker 5: Because what it does is it cleans up all the pictures,
- 45:12Speaker 5: so now they can't do all that disguss stuff.
- 45:14Speaker 2: They got to get after you. And then after you
- 45:16Speaker 2: do that for a while, now you're getting a vanilla
- 45:20Speaker 2: look from the defense and.
- 45:22Speaker 5: Now you can get to the line bluffet, okay, reset
- 45:26Speaker 5: like you see Dak Prescott do, and then go to it.
- 45:29Speaker 5: But it's the tempo to the ball going that allows
- 45:33Speaker 5: you to establish a rhythm because you said, as a quarterback,
- 45:36Speaker 5: you want to get in rhythm. To me, it's like
- 45:37Speaker 5: a picture. Some guys like to work quick, get the ball,
- 45:40Speaker 5: let's get to the rubber and go. It allows you
- 45:43Speaker 5: to kind of get into an offensive rhythm. So the
- 45:45Speaker 5: rhythm isn't just all we're fast. It's understanding what we're
- 45:50Speaker 5: trying to come. We're trying to get them out of
- 45:51Speaker 5: all that that garbage stuff that they give pre snap
- 45:54Speaker 5: so we can play.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't care if you break the huddle with
- 45:57Speaker 3: ten seconds left on the play clock. It's not it's
- 45:59Speaker 3: not how fast, it's just it's just from huddle to
- 46:02Speaker 3: the snap. Like, that's the whole thing.
- 46:03Speaker 4: Man.
- 46:04Speaker 3: I think there's a I think that's a great point, man,
- 46:06Speaker 3: and not a surprise that, you know, one of the
- 46:07Speaker 3: great offensive coaches was talking like that. Who you know,
- 46:11Speaker 3: Homegrin comes from the probably the greatest off wall free ever.
- 46:16Speaker 2: They talked about it.
- 46:17Speaker 5: That's how they eliminated They wanted they wanted the temple
- 46:20Speaker 5: there was a way that you broke the huddle, sprint
- 46:22Speaker 5: it to the line, got down and go. And when
- 46:25Speaker 5: you do that, you talk about Dallas Schottenheimer being able
- 46:28Speaker 5: to do it, who learned under Paul Hackett and all
- 46:30Speaker 5: those other guys who are West Coast people. Uh.
- 46:33Speaker 2: And then Ben Johnson.
- 46:33Speaker 5: Ben Johnson is just a masterful guy in terms of
- 46:37Speaker 5: understanding schematics of those things.
- 46:39Speaker 2: Yeah, but they may have cracked the code. Yeah, I think.
- 46:41Speaker 3: I don't think have you ever heard anybody talk about
- 46:43Speaker 3: I've never heard anybody talk about that. But it's it's
- 46:45Speaker 3: interesting when you see something that's like from an instinct standpoint,
- 46:48Speaker 3: it's like, man, doesn't feel rhythmy or flowy. And they're like,
- 46:50Speaker 3: oh no, there's numbers on this. You can get the
- 46:52Speaker 3: statistics of how fast teams go from huddle to snap.
- 46:54Speaker 3: And I'm like, oh that is interesting, man.
- 46:56Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a great thing. It's it's an underrated thing
- 47:00Speaker 5: in terms of being able to create an advantage in
- 47:02Speaker 5: those things.
- 47:03Speaker 2: No doubt. All Right, this has been a fun one.
- 47:05Speaker 1: Man.
- 47:05Speaker 2: Appreciate it. I appreciate you guys listening to us.
- 47:07Speaker 3: We will catch them all right here on move the sticks,
- 47:11Speaker 3: h
