- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the porch.
- 0:30It is drizzling and it's dark, so I'm shooting from the porch
- 0:33this morning. You probably will hear Raven off
- 0:36in the distance. Well, anyway, today we're
- 0:39talking about growth and how painful growth can be.
- 0:43This is a time where I myself am experiencing this and I thought,
- 0:47you know what a better time than the present to talk about it
- 0:50since I'm going through it myself as I go to build out the
- 0:53next phase of this business and working on stuff.
- 0:56And it's a, it's always interesting to me how we want to
- 1:02grow. We seem pulled in a constant
- 1:06pull to grow and how painful it can be.
- 1:10And very observant about it in myself because I, I love taking
- 1:16on new adventures, growing, trying different things,
- 1:19different aspects of, of creativity, whether it's the
- 1:24farm stuff, whether it's writing books, whether it's recording
- 1:26videos, whether it's putting up class, all of it.
- 1:29I'm like, what I like it. I can't, I can truly say I like
- 1:33it. I like doing all of it.
- 1:35It's not that I have anything about it that I don't like.
- 1:38I mean, sure, it impacts my schedule sometimes and that's
- 1:41always a tricky part and having enough time with your family and
- 1:44everything else, that's always tricky.
- 1:46But here's the interesting part of it.
- 1:48I actually love the growth part of it.
- 1:50I like to feel like my head is constantly learning.
- 1:54But there's another part of this that's just like, I just
- 1:58sometimes you get to that point where you're like, I just want,
- 2:02just want to like relax. I just want to relax.
- 2:05Now all that part is not often because I don't like to sit
- 2:08still when it fits it when it hits and it fits in that moment
- 2:13and it just plugs in and it's like, I just want to relax.
- 2:17And you, you say to yourself, but I can't make progress unless
- 2:20I'm this and you start the battle with yourself.
- 2:22What do you do? How do you handle it?
- 2:25So I, I figured since I had that experience experience over the
- 2:29weekend, I should share that with all of you.
- 2:32And for me, it's listening to that because it means that I
- 2:36have to get rid of some of that down energy by actually taking
- 2:42it on and saying, OK, I'm giving myself the weekend to do this.
- 2:45So being able to just rest is absolutely imperative.
- 2:51So that's what I did this weekend.
- 2:52I actually didn't work on any projects.
- 2:55I didn't work on farm projects. I didn't do any of it for I I
- 2:59packed my Friday pretty tight knowing that I could feel this
- 3:03coming on. It's so hot.
- 3:06It's so uncomfortable here. So outside work is not an option
- 3:10really during the day at all. And I was just like, you know
- 3:14what? I just like want to binge watch
- 3:16a show. I never do that, never.
- 3:19And I just want to allow myself to be able to do it.
- 3:22And I did watched an entire show and on Netflix from beginning to
- 3:28end, I think it was 10 episodes. And I was like, you know what?
- 3:31Over the course of two days, I'm totally OK with that and
- 3:35basically stayed inside all weekend because it was so hot.
- 3:40Didn't even want to go to the beach, didn't want to go
- 3:42anywhere, didn't want to do a damn thing, quite honestly.
- 3:46And I listened to myself. And before you know it, you
- 3:49start to feel like, OK, I feel rejuvenated.
- 3:52I feel energized again. But sometimes times the
- 3:56arguments still go on in your head because I did sit there and
- 4:00say to myself, OK, I could be doing this right now or I should
- 4:03be doing this, but it doesn't help.
- 4:05When you do that to yourself. All it does is cause more
- 4:08aggravation. So the reason that you have to
- 4:10listen to yourself is say which one is bigger here?
- 4:13Which one needs more rest? And sometimes for me, it's only
- 4:16a couple days. Sometimes people will say, all
- 4:18right, I need a break for a week.
- 4:20Sometimes people I'll tell people when I'm working with
- 4:22them. Maybe you need to just schedule
- 4:24that out next month if it's not urgent.
- 4:27Really looking at what's the time frame that you feel like
- 4:30you just need a break from something.
- 4:32Listen to the words that are coming up for you, listen to the
- 4:37feelings, listen to the thoughts, the emotions because
- 4:40they're all trying to help you in the process.
- 4:42Now my short little break made me feel completely back and
- 4:48engaged, even though it was only two days, but it was enough of a
- 4:53break to say, OK, now I can jump back in and feel good about it.
- 4:57So look at yourself where you are.
- 5:00Give yourself the ability to listen to it all and know growth
- 5:04can be painful sometimes, especially when you're taking on
- 5:07new things. Growth can be painful, but you
- 5:10know it's part of the process and the butterfly doesn't think
- 5:14about that after it's a butterfly.
- 5:16It only knows when it's a Caterpillar.
- 5:18It's supposed to crawl up there, turn to goo, hang upside down
- 5:21and come out and be a butterfly. And it does it.
- 5:24And I imagine it's pretty uncomfortable turning into
- 5:28something like that, but oh so worth it.
- 5:30So I hope you have a blessed day, My friends and I will see
- 5:33you tomorrow. Bye.
