- 0:20communications satellite named Telstar was launched
- 0:23and transmitted the first live television signals
- 0:26across the Atlantic, dazzling audiences with
- 0:29moving images from afar. That milestone demonstrated
- 0:33the power of space -based relays to connect continents
- 0:37and ushered in a new era of global media and
- 0:40instantaneous international communication. So
- 0:44now you know. And now it's time for the weather
- 0:48report. This morning there's patchy fog and it
- 0:54feels like 76 degrees with five mile per hour
- 0:58wind. The sunset will take place at 8 .19, and
- 1:02it will rise again tomorrow at 5 .17. It looks
- 1:06like we're in for some patchy fog early today,

- 1:12and thunderstorms with mostly sunny skies and

- 1:19breeze around 7 miles per hour. If you're inland,
- 1:23it will hit a high of 90. Tonight, Expect a slight
- 1:28chance of showers and thunderstorms before 3
- 1:31a .m. with partly cloudy skies, a low around
- 1:3569, and light winds around 5 miles per hour.
- 1:40The nearshore buoy at Cape Cod Bay reads 59 degrees

- 2:47Sunny mornings send you. Simon Rios recently
- 2:53spoke with two former immigration judges, Art
- 2:56Arthur and George Papas, about the recent shifts
- 3:00in immigration policy. Arthur is a fellow in
- 3:03law and policy at the Center for Immigration
- 3:06Studies, while Papas represents clients in western
- 3:09North Carolina and across the nation in United
- 3:12States immigration law. They discussed whether
- 3:15we are witnessing lawlessness or a controversial
- 3:18interpretation and enforcement of existing laws.
- 3:22This conversation was part of the recent Tell
- 3:25You Be Your Festival, where thousands of attendees
- 3:28gather in Boston each year to engage with fascinating
- 3:31speakers. Now on to sports. Spain coach Luis
- 3:41de la Fuente stressed that he is not thinking
- 3:44about a potential World Cup semi -final against
- 3:47France. while they still have a quarterfinal
- 3:50clash against Belgium on Friday. He stated, we
- 3:53are not thinking about anything other than Belgium.
- 3:56If we win, then we will speak about France. But
- 3:59as professionals, I can guarantee that we are
- 4:02completely focused on tomorrow's game. Nidloff
- 4:06went to acknowledge that France booked a spot
- 4:08in the semifinals after a 2 -0 win over Morocco.
- 4:13He remarked, France were the better team. We
- 4:16know what they are capable of. Delafuente expressed
- 4:20huge respect for Belgium, who beat co -host United
- 4:23States 4 -1 in the last 16. He noted, Belgium
- 4:28are a very strong team with players who are used
- 4:31to win. This will be a challenge. Spain are the
- 4:35only nation left in the tournament that has not
- 4:37conceded a goal, but they are not among the most
- 4:40prolific scorers. The coach mentioned that this
- 4:44is due solely to minor details, adding, I am
- 4:47aware of what I can control, and I control that
- 4:50well. He concluded, whatever else happens is
- 4:54beyond our control. That gives me a lot of peace
- 4:57of mind. It is one thing to be nervous. It is
- 5:00another to be afraid. In local sports, the Red
- 5:04Sox keep rolling. They swept Chicago yesterday
- 5:08behind Patrick Sandoval's return from Tony John
- 5:11surgery. He scattered five kits and one run through
- 5:15four in a third innings, marking his first action
- 5:18since undergoing the procedure in June 2024.
- 5:23Caleb Durbin drove in both runs with a home run,
- 5:26and the bullpen was dominant. Boston's now won
- 5:3011 of their last 13 games, outscoring opponents
- 5:3435 to 10. Durbin's been the centerpiece, launching
- 5:38eight homers since early June. But he's clear
- 5:41he's still got another gear. We're just playing
- 5:44winning baseball, he said. I think we've been
- 5:48close for a while, but we're just on the wrong
- 5:50side of it. Tonight they head to Queens to face
- 5:53the Mets at City Field. Sunny Gray takes the
- 5:58mound against Nolan McLean, first pitch 7 -15.
- 6:03The Sox arrive riding six straight wins and looking
- 6:06to extend that streak. Meanwhile, the Patriots
- 6:10open training camp July 24th, with the first
- 6:13public practice the next morning at 10 .30 behind
- 6:17Gillette Stadium. Parking and admission are free.
- 6:21New England's bringing in Ronia Doubbs, Kevin
- 6:24Bayard, and their rookie class headlined by Caleb
- 6:27Loma, and Gabe Jagus. Mike Anwenu restructured
- 6:32his deal for 10 million to anchor the line. The
- 6:36Pats hosts three joint practices this summer,
- 6:39starting with Indianapolis on August 11th. In
- 6:44top news, Killy and Mbappe had a goal and an
- 6:48assist after missing a first -half penalty kick.
- 6:51Asmeng Dembele also scored, and France beat Morocco
- 6:55by a score of 2 -0 in the World Cup quarterfinals
- 6:58on Thursday. Mbappe's goal was the 20th of his
- 7:02World Cup career. and came in his 20th match
- 7:05at the tournament. France will now face either
- 7:08Spain or Belgium in the semifinals in Dallas
- 7:11on Tuesday. Morocco's coach expressed disappointment,
- 7:15stating they had to run more and struggled with
- 7:18transitions. France dominated with a 21 -4 advantage
- 7:22in shots on goal during the match. In business
- 7:27news, Taco Bell is reportedly pulling produce
- 7:31from some stores. Here's what to know. Food safety
- 7:35issues were more problematic for the industry
- 7:38prior to the outbreak of COVID -19, TD Cowan
- 7:41analysts stated, as social media now keeps consumers'
- 7:45attention spans short. An outbreak of cyclosporiasis,
- 7:49a parasite -caused illness with symptoms, including
- 7:52explosive diarrhea, has sickened more than 1
- 7:55,000 people in Michigan. Currently, Taco Bell
- 7:59is pulling some menu ingredients from a handful
- 8:01of restaurants in the area. It remains unclear
- 8:05whether there is a connection between the two,
- 8:07but an analyst suggests that the impact on Taco
- 8:10Bell and its parent company Gum Brands would
- 8:13likely be limited if a link exists. In crypto
- 8:17movement, Bitcoin is unchanged for the week at
- 8:21about $63 ,000. Ethereum is down 2%. to about

- 9:25carbon emissions increased by 25 % last year.
- 9:30According to its 2026 Sustainability Report,
- 9:33Microsoft's carbon emissions totaled 34 million
- 9:37metric tons without select interventions. This
- 9:41rise was driven primarily by the expansion of
- 9:44data center infrastructure and the decision to
- 9:46stop purchasing non -additional, unbundled renewable
- 9:50energy certificates. The report acknowledges
- 9:53that sustainability solutions are not keeping
- 9:56up with the demands of artificial intelligence.
- 10:00Microsoft aims to be carbon negative by 2030.
- 10:04In a similar vein, Google and Amazon reported
- 10:07spikes in emissions as well. And in entertainment
- 10:13news. Taylor Sheridan's empire is under attack
- 10:17from Paramount's new spy thriller series. which
- 10:20is back with a significantly more positive reception
- 10:23this season. The show premiered in 2024 and struggled
- 10:28to find an audience despite impeccable production
- 10:30values and an A -list cast. However, the second
- 10:34season, which premiered on June 21st, has been
- 10:38branded as a Paramount Plus Original, taking
- 10:41on Sheridan's blockbusters head on. The critically
- 10:44acclaimed series, titled The Agency, stars Michael
- 10:48Fassbender and received a 92 % score on Rotten
- 10:52Tomatoes for its second season. It currently
- 10:55ranks fourth on the Global Paramount Plus leaderboard
- 10:58behind Dutton Ranch, South Park, and Yellowstone.
