- 0:22Speaker 3: Seattle anymore?
- 0:22Speaker 4: Not a desirable place, he said, Massachusetts.
- 0:26Speaker 5: She would never date you, bro. Forget it.
- 0:28Speaker 4: You're chasing after these people that already told you now you're.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Back, that we're back in my high school.
- 0:33Speaker 5: The relationship is controlled by the person who cares the least.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Always oh, just the bad dates, sending s O S

- 0:53Speaker 6: I don't know what Husvarna.
- 0:56Speaker 2: It's like a cool company, tractors and stuff that sound
- 1:00Speaker 2: Ono thousand and four, there was the short arm infant
- 1:02Speaker 2: epidemic and that affected a lot of people, apparently, you know,
- 1:05Speaker 2: And of course Andy would like pretend he's not paying attention,
- 1:08Speaker 2: but he's looking out of the side of his eye,
- 1:10Speaker 2: like I wish that was me.
- 1:12Speaker 3: He gives me the vibes of a big dumbbell flies.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Guy like got the dumbbells on the incline bench and he's.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Good anyway, I used to don't make it funny. And
- 1:21Speaker 2: this is Patriots.

- 1:29Speaker 2: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:33Speaker 2: at Jillette Stadium, and hey, let's call it free agent frenzy.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I think that's unique. It was a frenzy, but a
- 1:40Speaker 2: big day for the Patriots. Everything reported so nothing. The
- 1:44Speaker 2: ink is dry on none of these. But the Patriots
- 1:48Speaker 2: reportedly signed quite a few players yesterday, and I, for one,
- 1:53Speaker 2: am very pleased with the hall. I think every one
- 1:56Speaker 2: of these players are potential starters for this team. I
- 2:01Speaker 2: understand they didn't get the wide receiver, they didn't get
- 2:03Speaker 2: the left tackle yet, but there's day two. You never
- 2:06Speaker 2: knew who's gonna shake loose from another team. We got
- 2:08Speaker 2: the draft. There's a long way to go, so I
- 2:12Speaker 2: think this was a great start to the twenty twenty
- 2:14Speaker 2: five seasons. So it's Evan, it's Paul, it's me, it's
- 2:17Speaker 2: Stu's Matt and Nabooth. We're here. Talking about free agency,
- 2:21Speaker 2: probably a little draft, whatever you want to talk about.
- 2:24Speaker 2: It's all on the table. It's a big day here
- 2:26Speaker 2: at Chelatte Stadium.
- 2:27Speaker 5: It is a big day. Yesterday it was a big day.
- 2:29Speaker 5: It was fun.
- 2:29Speaker 3: We were all in the down in the bunker watching
- 2:31Speaker 3: the moves come in and that was exciting. Yeah, a
- 2:35Speaker 3: little bit of a slow start off the bat and
- 2:37Speaker 3: then all of a sudden it kicked any gear.
- 2:39Speaker 4: But because Twitter was.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Down right, right, I know Twitter was down for a while.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I found myself going onto the Blue Sky app,
- 2:45Speaker 3: which I've never done before. But luckily Twitter came back
- 2:48Speaker 3: and I agree with what you said though, Fred, I
- 2:50Speaker 3: think I just think they had to rebuild their defense.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Godshaw going to the Saints, the uncertainty around Christian Barmore,
- 2:57Speaker 3: it's just like, right, I didn't really feel like it
- 2:59Speaker 3: going in, but it just like they needed to add
- 3:01Speaker 3: a piece on the defensive line that they knew. And
- 3:04Speaker 3: I don't want to call Milton Williams the centerpiece of
- 3:06Speaker 3: what this defense is, but I think it's it's appealing
- 3:10Speaker 3: to think about him and Barmore. If Barmore could get
- 3:12Speaker 3: back to that level that you have two guys on
- 3:14Speaker 3: the inside, really cooking with gas and Carlton Davis the
- 3:17Speaker 3: other piece.
- 3:18Speaker 5: That those two pieces are the.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Big ones to me, I think the other guys are,
- 3:21Speaker 3: you know, somewhat stop gaps.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I like, I like U Bob splains, but I think
- 3:26Speaker 2: I think he's gonna be good favorite sign.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I just think he needed a guy like that.
- 3:31Speaker 3: You didn't have that guy last year, you know, Juwan
- 3:33Speaker 3: Bentley went down. You're scraping the barrel with guys like
- 3:36Speaker 3: Christianella's Special teamers. Now he like, we make fun of
- 3:40Speaker 3: tackling machines around here a lot. But I do think
- 3:42Speaker 3: that he's a guy that has played a lot of snaps,
- 3:44Speaker 3: can run pretty well, and I just look at him
- 3:46Speaker 3: as some insurance, as an offertable to.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Build this roster back up at all levels. Yep, you know,
- 3:52Speaker 2: top middle what these are mostly middle guys. Maybe Milton
- 3:56Speaker 2: Williams is you know, maybe a little bit higher up.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Certainly he would one of the most prized free agents
- 4:02Speaker 2: out there. But they need to build this roster up.
- 4:06Speaker 2: And like I said, every one of these guys looks
- 4:08Speaker 2: like he's going to be a starter, you know. Obviously,
- 4:12Speaker 2: Josh Dobbs isn't going to be a starter, and but
- 4:15Speaker 2: most of the guys that they signed yesterday are reportedly
- 4:19Speaker 2: signed yesterday, are going to contribute right away to this team,
- 4:23Speaker 2: and that's what they need.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it gives you a baseline and it's a place
- 4:26Speaker 3: to start. I still think the draft is critically important.
- 4:28Speaker 2: You get down the list. Yeah.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Yeah, start on the defensive side of the ball. So
- 4:33Speaker 3: you have Harold Landry was the first one to fall
- 4:35Speaker 3: on Sunday night reportedly, and then Robert Spelane with a
- 4:39Speaker 3: three year deal, Carlton Davis with a three year deal,
- 4:42Speaker 3: Milton Williams with a four year deal, and then Tonga
- 4:46Speaker 3: with a one year deal. So yeahuted Tonga and Williams
- 4:48Speaker 3: is your defensive line. And I just look at I
- 4:51Speaker 3: love Davis. I just think Davis is a good complimentary
- 4:54Speaker 3: piece to Gonzalez. It feels like you have a legit
- 4:56Speaker 3: outside corner now opposite him.
- 4:58Speaker 5: Tough player.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Think Detroit and Patriots played the most man last year
- 5:02Speaker 3: of any two teams, so you know, he's got that
- 5:04Speaker 3: part of his game. But otherwise I look at the
- 5:06Speaker 3: rest of it, like, all right, we re established a baseline.
- 5:08Speaker 3: We got away from you know, I'm looking back at
- 5:10Speaker 3: the defense thirtieth and dvoa last year thirtieth and takeaways
- 5:13Speaker 3: twenty six on third down twenty second in points. It
- 5:16Speaker 3: was a terrible defense last year. They've reset it to
- 5:18Speaker 3: Mike Rabel and Terrell Williams liking, but I still think
- 5:21Speaker 3: they need the draft pieces to put them over the top.
- 5:24Speaker 3: You've got a solid bunch of pieces in place after
- 5:27Speaker 3: free agency. Now it's time to improve the team through
- 5:29Speaker 3: the draft.
- 5:30Speaker 2: And every one of these guys, most of them have
- 5:32Speaker 2: some connection to either Rabel or McDaniels. You know, there's
- 5:37Speaker 2: some knowledge of the player and.
- 5:39Speaker 3: How they're going to fit in some certainty. I mean,
- 5:41Speaker 3: I think that's what Elio Wolf said. You know, in
- 5:43Speaker 3: Indy they were felt like they got some bad influence
- 5:46Speaker 3: some guys. These are guys that they have experienced with. Also,
- 5:50Speaker 3: just to run down the offensive guys, Austin Hooper back
- 5:52Speaker 3: on a one year deal, reportedly Morgan Moses to move.
- 5:56Speaker 3: I know Paul would like to talk about as a
- 5:58Speaker 3: right tackle, veteran guy, Josh Dobbs quarterback backup.
- 6:02Speaker 5: And Matt Collins with a two year deal.
- 6:04Speaker 3: So that rounds out all the reported signings, right now,
- 6:07Speaker 3: but I really look at you know, Moses on the
- 6:09Speaker 3: on the offensive side of the Yeah, he.
- 6:11Speaker 4: Was my favorite signing that they made. But you know,
- 6:13Speaker 4: in terms of the defense, and I know there has
- 6:15Speaker 4: been some favorite because they didn't have any tackles, I've
- 6:20Speaker 4: been very adamant that they have not had an NFL
- 6:22Speaker 4: player at that position for two years. They now have one.
- 6:25Speaker 4: He's old, yeah, and he you know, he's got a
- 6:27Speaker 4: lot of wear and tear. But I really like that signing,
- 6:30Speaker 4: and I think fingers crossed they get him through training
- 6:33Speaker 4: camp and then you start the season at least you
- 6:35Speaker 4: know you have an NFL player plays played at a
- 6:39Speaker 4: level he's played at you know, he's not just a scrub.
- 6:42Speaker 4: He's played at a good level for a lot of years.
- 6:45Speaker 4: I like that signing a lot. But the defense needed
- 6:48Speaker 4: just as much attention as the offense, and I think
- 6:50Speaker 4: people still are refusing to sort of wrap their minds
- 6:56Speaker 4: around the fact that the defense was every bit as
- 6:58Speaker 4: bad as the offense was last year, and we got
- 7:01Speaker 4: an ASPFW a little while ago and asking the same thing,
- 7:04Speaker 4: why why all the attention to the defense. The defense
- 7:07Speaker 4: was okay, No, it wasn't okay. The defense was badly
- 7:10Speaker 4: in need of an overhaul, and Rabel decided whether it
- 7:14Speaker 4: was a plan to do it that way or that's
- 7:17Speaker 4: the way the pieces fell, right, That's what they addressed first.
- 7:21Speaker 4: And I don't think there's a bad signing in the bunch.
- 7:24Speaker 4: I really don't.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Do you think that any of these signings that they
- 7:28Speaker 2: made affects how they look at the draft? So I'm
- 7:31Speaker 2: looking at you know, they take the corner Does that
- 7:36Speaker 2: change anything if Travis Hunter is available for Does it
- 7:41Speaker 2: change anything on the defensive line from Mason Graham now
- 7:44Speaker 2: that they.
- 7:46Speaker 3: That's one I might I might say yes. I mean
- 7:48Speaker 3: I think cornerback. I didn't see it as a huge
- 7:50Speaker 3: need to begin with. I think that's a position where
- 7:52Speaker 3: they could still take it in the mid rounds. But
- 7:55Speaker 3: I would say it's a hard time if Chris, especially
- 7:56Speaker 3: if Kristen Barmer comes back, envisioning the value of Mason Graham,
- 8:00Speaker 3: who's the same kind of player that both of those
- 8:04Speaker 3: guys are. So if anything, I'm not Travis Hunter special,
- 8:07Speaker 3: so I wouldn't rule him out, but I would I
- 8:09Speaker 3: would listen to Mason Graham kind of being ruled out.
- 8:11Speaker 2: But maybe you bring in this this guy you know
- 8:15Speaker 2: from the Lions at corner. And now if you do
- 8:19Speaker 2: take Travis Hunter, maybe the first thing you do in
- 8:22Speaker 2: the spring is put him at wide receiver. Just we
- 8:26Speaker 2: know he's going to be a good corner. Let's put
- 8:28Speaker 2: him at wide receiver, and if he does well there,
- 8:32Speaker 2: start him at wide receiver. Because we've got two, really
- 8:35Speaker 2: you know, one elite corner and another really solid corner.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Jonathan Jones might be hitting free agency, I hear. So
- 8:43Speaker 2: you've got the replacement for him, who's probably a step up,
- 8:47Speaker 2: and and we can we can take our time with
- 8:50Speaker 2: Travis Hunter at wide receiver and see how he does there.
- 8:54Speaker 2: So I don't know, I think this might affect a
- 8:57Speaker 2: little bit how they look at I'm not sure.
- 9:00Speaker 4: I'm not sure it does. I get I get Mike's
- 9:02Speaker 4: point on Mason Graham. I probably wouldn't push back too
- 9:05Speaker 4: much on anything Mike said. I would still stick with it.
- 9:08Speaker 4: They're if they're at four with no opportunity for Carter
- 9:12Speaker 4: or a Hunter, which I still believe they will not have
- 9:15Speaker 4: an opportunity for those two, I think they have to
- 9:19Speaker 4: stick with the board and go with the best player,
- 9:21Speaker 4: because I still think you need players and even if
- 9:25Speaker 4: bar Moore is back in the mix, you can't rely
- 9:28Speaker 4: on that. He was back in the mix last year
- 9:30Speaker 4: and then had, you know, recurring problems with the blood clots.
- 9:34Speaker 4: So if Mason Graham is your highest you know guy
- 9:37Speaker 4: by far, I would I would still take that. Again,
- 9:40Speaker 4: I don't necessarily everything Mike said is right. I wouldn't
- 9:43Speaker 4: push back if you feel the same way that Mike
- 9:45Speaker 4: did about Mason Graham. Yeah, No, I mean I wouldn't.
- 9:50Speaker 4: I wouldn't argue with you, and I wouldn't argue with that.
- 9:53Speaker 6: I that's the biggest thing is like they're they're both undersized.
- 9:57Speaker 6: You know, Milton Williams is also undersized. They both win
- 10:00Speaker 6: with their their quickness and their technique and all that
- 10:03Speaker 6: kind of stuff. So if you're looking at overlapping skill sets,
- 10:07Speaker 6: I mean, they're kind of the same, dude, Like you're
- 10:09Speaker 6: you're kind of projecting that Mason Graham is going to
- 10:12Speaker 6: play a similar role and.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Some But I wouldn't. I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to
- 10:16Speaker 4: it because I think that that might allow you to
- 10:18Speaker 4: maybe use Mason Graham on the way that Philly used
- 10:22Speaker 4: Milton Williams on more of a part time basis.
- 10:25Speaker 6: You can't take that at four overall.
- 10:26Speaker 4: No, no, no, But I'm saying initially, I mean, these guys
- 10:29Speaker 4: are only under contract for a few years. I mean
- 10:31Speaker 4: it's like a four year deal. Maybe maybe if you know,
- 10:34Speaker 4: if if he's an abnormal free agent, you get four
- 10:37Speaker 4: years out of him. Most of them don't see the
- 10:39Speaker 4: end of their contracts. So if you hit with me,
- 10:42Speaker 4: I think the more important thing. I guess what I'm
- 10:44Speaker 4: trying to say is not again not arguing with with
- 10:46Speaker 4: what you guys are saying, because you're saying things that
- 10:49Speaker 4: make a lot of sense. I think you just have
- 10:51Speaker 4: to get a good player at four, and if the
- 10:53Speaker 4: good player is overlapping with Milton Williams, then you got
- 10:55Speaker 4: to take them. If you think that, you know, Will
- 10:58Speaker 4: Campbell is more of an option there, then you have
- 11:01Speaker 4: to take them. Well whoever you know, Ted McMillan, whatever
- 11:05Speaker 4: you decide, Tyler Warren, you just have to make sure
- 11:08Speaker 4: that you get a good player. And I wouldn't sacrifice
- 11:10Speaker 4: a good player because I just signed Milton Williams. That's
- 11:13Speaker 4: all I'm saying.
- 11:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I listen to that.
- 11:15Speaker 3: I mean, I think this is the baseline of where
- 11:17Speaker 3: you start. I still to your point, Fred, I feel
- 11:19Speaker 3: the pressure of edge rush, having some juice off the edge.
- 11:23Speaker 3: I don't think that they have that. I think Harold
- 11:25Speaker 3: Landry is a solid player who you know is just
- 11:27Speaker 3: going to give you solid reps.
- 11:28Speaker 5: But I look at that as.
- 11:30Speaker 3: A baseline solid nfler. But if you're really going to
- 11:33Speaker 3: be a good defense, you need to have somebody who
- 11:34Speaker 3: can bring some heat off the edge. I still feel
- 11:36Speaker 3: the pressure with left tackle and wide receiver too. Those
- 11:39Speaker 3: are the hardest ones to to, you know, thread the
- 11:42Speaker 3: needle on. But I think that's what free agency is about,
- 11:46Speaker 3: getting to a baseline place where look, we don't have
- 11:49Speaker 3: to have Mason Graham, you know, we don't have to
- 11:52Speaker 3: have any I mean again, left tackle, that's still I
- 11:55Speaker 3: think something to considered Will Campbell. But the other positions,
- 11:58Speaker 3: I think they have a good baseline. But it's just
- 12:00Speaker 3: the just the foundation is set. That to me, this
- 12:03Speaker 3: is where the real work starts now is finding that
- 12:05Speaker 3: the good young.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Fear off season I was hoping for last year. I
- 12:08Speaker 4: thought that they needed to bring in some NFL players
- 12:12Speaker 4: at a number of spots that were better than what
- 12:15Speaker 4: they had. They chose instead to re up a lot
- 12:17Speaker 4: of guys that they had right, So, like you say,
- 12:20Speaker 4: Carlton Davis is probably an upgrade on Jonathan Jones. I
- 12:23Speaker 4: would probably agree. Now the worry everybody knows the worries
- 12:27Speaker 4: with Carlton Davis's durability has been a factor throughout his career.
- 12:31Speaker 4: But I think he's a better player than Jonathan Jones.
- 12:34Speaker 4: So I think you upgraded there. Spallaine, I think he's
- 12:38Speaker 4: a different kind of player than Bentley. Obviously he's smaller, faster,
- 12:43Speaker 4: and not that Bill Belichick traditional bigger, but you still
- 12:46Speaker 4: have fun stuffed, but you still have Bentley. So I
- 12:49Speaker 4: don't know if you want to use them both. I
- 12:50Speaker 4: don't know if you want to use Spallaine instead of Bentley.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Maybe Mickey Splaine is the next veteran. I meant Jwan
- 12:59Speaker 4: Bentley is the veteran to go and Mickey Spolin.
- 13:03Speaker 2: And that's the thing, you know, for those people who
- 13:04Speaker 2: are freaking out that they didn't get the left tackle
- 13:07Speaker 2: or what, there's still a long way to go. You know,
- 13:09Speaker 2: Cooper cup is now going to be a free agent.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Before you had to trade with him, you don't know
- 13:13Speaker 2: who's going to shake loose when this whole process started.
- 13:16Speaker 2: You didn't know Harol Landry was.
- 13:17Speaker 4: Going to be available this kind did I.
- 13:23Speaker 2: But at that time before they did that, like you
- 13:26Speaker 2: go into this, you didn't know that the Titans were
- 13:28Speaker 2: going to do that with Harold Landry. Like you just
- 13:31Speaker 2: don't know who's going to become available, and guys do.
- 13:35Speaker 4: Uh.
- 13:35Speaker 2: So there's a long way to go before September. This
- 13:40Speaker 2: this roster will look a lot different even from today,
- 13:43Speaker 2: uh than it will once we start playing the games
- 13:47Speaker 2: in September. So there's there's a lot that can pick up.
- 13:50Speaker 2: That said, if you think they're going to solve everything
- 13:53Speaker 2: in twenty twenty five that needed to be done, that
- 13:56Speaker 2: might be a little unrealistic. You know, it's I'm talking
- 13:59Speaker 2: about top end quality players. It probably won't all happen
- 14:04Speaker 2: this year. But I think they made a step in
- 14:07Speaker 2: the right direction yesterday.
- 14:09Speaker 6: Yeah, adedly, I just feel like, you know, you guys
- 14:14Speaker 6: mentioned it earlier and De rattled off the stats. I
- 14:16Speaker 6: don't think people gave enough credence to just how bad
- 14:19Speaker 6: the defense was last year. I mean, it was like
- 14:21Speaker 6: the bane of my existence at times watching the film
- 14:23Speaker 6: back every Monday of that de.
- 14:25Speaker 4: People don't get home.
- 14:27Speaker 6: The interior, especially of the defensive line and the off
- 14:30Speaker 6: ball linebacker play against the run was at times just
- 14:34Speaker 6: not NFL caliber, And you just had a lot of
- 14:37Speaker 6: really a lot of issues, a lot of issues on
- 14:41Speaker 6: that side of the ball last year. I mean, they
- 14:43Speaker 6: couldn't fit the run, like they just couldn't.
- 14:44Speaker 4: They couldn't run cause him at the season, Yeah, you
- 14:47Speaker 4: had the lead at home with the other team eighty
- 14:53Speaker 4: yards away and Anthony Richardson drove the ball the length
- 14:56Speaker 4: of the field and then proceeded to get the two
- 14:59Speaker 4: point conversion to win the game as time exposed.
- 15:02Speaker 6: Yeah, and the Colts aren't even sure he's their quarterback.
- 15:04Speaker 4: That was a microcosm of just how bad the Patriots
- 15:06Speaker 4: defense was last year.
- 15:07Speaker 6: Yeah, it wasn't a good defense. And I think the
- 15:09Speaker 6: one thing, look, they have holes to go still, they
- 15:13Speaker 6: have a long way to go. But the one thing
- 15:15Speaker 6: I feel optimistic about is someone whether it's Rabel, Ryan Cowden,
- 15:20Speaker 6: Elliott Wolf combination of the three, somebody's paying attention to where
- 15:24Speaker 6: the real holes are on this football team. Like they're
- 15:26Speaker 6: not going out there and spending silly money on Dan Moore,
- 15:32Speaker 6: who gave up the most sacks in the league last
- 15:34Speaker 6: year for Pittsburgh and then now is making one hundred
- 15:36Speaker 6: million dollars on a four year contract, and they're not
- 15:39Speaker 6: going out there and paying Darius Slayton all this money
- 15:42Speaker 6: to get him because I think he's an upgrade out
- 15:45Speaker 6: wide receiver. They're paying attention to the spine of the team,
- 15:48Speaker 6: right the trenches, defensive line, linebacker, right tackle. You know,
- 15:53Speaker 6: they're going out and they're adding guys that I'm sorry,
- 15:56Speaker 6: you're not gonna draft them to your fantasy team. But
- 15:59Speaker 6: this is this is real football, right, Like, this is
- 16:02Speaker 6: where the game is won and lost, and this is
- 16:04Speaker 6: what they're doing all we're saying and I didn't want to,
- 16:08Speaker 6: you know, put my nose up, it's true, but but
- 16:11Speaker 6: this is where it is. And you know, you mentioned
- 16:14Speaker 6: Robert Spolaine, who I'm gonna just sing the praises for
- 16:16Speaker 6: here for a quick second. Robert Splaine was one of
- 16:20Speaker 6: those guys that you know, nerds like me that on
- 16:24Speaker 6: Monday nights for some reason, found themselves watching Vegas Raiders
- 16:27Speaker 6: defense for whatever god knows what. We're always constantly saying, like,
- 16:31Speaker 6: who's this Splaine guy?
- 16:33Speaker 2: Right?
- 16:33Speaker 6: Because that guy just flies to the football like he
- 16:37Speaker 6: brings it every single play.
- 16:39Speaker 2: The draft a few years ago where there were a
- 16:42Speaker 2: couple of linebackers that were fast that Nikobe Dean, I think,
- 16:46Speaker 2: and the other guy like I like those kind of guys.
- 16:49Speaker 2: I love those guys, you know, like like, I know
- 16:53Speaker 2: he didn't win any Super Bowl for the Dolphins, but
- 16:55Speaker 2: you know, uh, Zach, what's is?
- 16:58Speaker 6: Zach Thomas?
- 16:59Speaker 2: Zach Thomas. I love those guys. Those you know, big
- 17:02Speaker 2: tackle guys. You need those.
- 17:04Speaker 4: Well. I just like athletic guys that can make plays
- 17:06Speaker 4: in space. I don't care about how many tackles.
- 17:08Speaker 6: They I understand you don't care about how many tackles
- 17:11Speaker 6: you have, but you don't make one hundred and fifty
- 17:12Speaker 6: six tackles by accident.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Right the ball.
- 17:16Speaker 4: Yeah he does.
- 17:17Speaker 6: He has five interceptions over the last two seasons playing
- 17:20Speaker 6: middle linebacker.
- 17:20Speaker 4: Which is bad.
- 17:21Speaker 6: I like, is an interesting number that's making players in space.
- 17:24Speaker 6: This guy like and he'll run through you too, Like
- 17:27Speaker 6: you know, you watch him pull guards come up to
- 17:29Speaker 6: the second level. He's running through mo and like he's
- 17:33Speaker 6: going right through you to the ball.
- 17:34Speaker 4: Uh.
- 17:35Speaker 6: You know, he is a fiery dude. And I think
- 17:37Speaker 6: a lot of what they're trying to do is is
- 17:39Speaker 6: get guys like that, Okay, guys that with effort and
- 17:42Speaker 6: finish and that want to be here and then play
- 17:44Speaker 6: with joy and play with energy. And he's absolutely one
- 17:48Speaker 6: of those. I would say, Milton Williams, they're all three
- 17:49Speaker 6: of one of those.
- 17:50Speaker 3: And Davis too, he plays hard too. I just, uh,
- 17:53Speaker 3: you know, I dove in on the film a little
- 17:55Speaker 3: bit last night. Try not to get too attached to
- 17:56Speaker 3: mill Williams before it all went down, but going through
- 17:59Speaker 3: some of his plays, there was one play that just
- 18:00Speaker 3: stood out to me where he was on standing up
- 18:03Speaker 3: on the backside and the play went around the corner
- 18:06Speaker 3: of the other end. He made the play twenty yards
- 18:08Speaker 3: down the field, made the tackle. Everything Evan's saying right
- 18:11Speaker 3: now about just a play temperament of these guys. On defense,
- 18:14Speaker 3: it rings true to me from what vrabel has said,
- 18:17Speaker 3: they want their defense to be and frank.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Heavy metal defense.
- 18:20Speaker 3: I mean, it's it's exciting to me because I've grown
- 18:22Speaker 3: up watching Bill Belichick's defense is great defenses, complex defenses,
- 18:26Speaker 3: throwing curveballs at the opponents. But that's grown stale over
- 18:30Speaker 3: recent years, and I think they lost the intelligence of
- 18:33Speaker 3: Bill Belichick of implementing those game plans. And now we're
- 18:37Speaker 3: looking at a defense that we're going after you, We're
- 18:39Speaker 3: coming to get you.
- 18:40Speaker 5: We're gonna play aggressive.
- 18:41Speaker 3: They're probably gonna make some mistakes and get burned from
- 18:43Speaker 3: time to time, but I think they're gonna play with
- 18:45Speaker 3: their hair on fire.
- 18:46Speaker 5: And I think it's exciting.
- 18:47Speaker 3: All three, all three of those guys that are you know,
- 18:50Speaker 3: and even Landry, who I don't think moves all that great,
- 18:53Speaker 3: still is still just a tough guy who's gonna play
- 18:55Speaker 3: hard and you know he's gonna get effort sacks and
- 18:58Speaker 3: that kind of stuff. So I just I like the personally.
- 19:00Speaker 3: One more point i'd say too to just your they're
- 19:03Speaker 3: checking the boxes. You know, I have my little, my
- 19:05Speaker 3: little nerdy depth chart that I do, and I mean
- 19:07Speaker 3: I had, you know, holder spaces where I'm like, they
- 19:09Speaker 3: need a left defensive end that you know, I just
- 19:12Speaker 3: had blank spots. And yesterday is the moves are coming in.
- 19:15Speaker 3: It's it's paint by number. It's yep, Harold Landry's going right,
- 19:18Speaker 3: and that spot right there, yep, mil Willings is going right.
- 19:20Speaker 5: You know, all those guys easily fit.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Carlton pretty much. Anyone. They Yeah, right, But this is
- 19:27Speaker 4: why I was so frustrated last year. And I know,
- 19:29Speaker 4: like I got a lot of pushback, but that's why
- 19:32Speaker 4: I was frustrated. They just decided what they had was
- 19:34Speaker 4: good enough, and they decided, let's let's bring it all back.
- 19:37Speaker 4: We won four games, let's bring them all back, and
- 19:40Speaker 4: we'll draft a quarterback and think it's going to get better,
- 19:43Speaker 4: Like it wasn't They needed to do something like this, Yeah,
- 19:46Speaker 4: to get better. It doesn't always work, and it doesn't
- 19:49Speaker 4: always work, but at least I can understand. As Mike said,
- 19:53Speaker 4: and like Evan said, I can plug this guy in here,
- 19:56Speaker 4: and I think I got better at that position. I
- 19:58Speaker 4: can plug Carlton Davis there. I got better at that spot. Obviously,
- 20:02Speaker 4: Milton Williams is going to be better than Daniel Aquale
- 20:05Speaker 4: or Jeremiah Farms, no disrespect, right, he's a better player.
- 20:11Speaker 4: So you got better at a lot of probably five
- 20:14Speaker 4: different spots on defense, you got better at.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Now that said, they did make a run at Godwin.
- 20:18Speaker 2: From what I understand, they offered him a hell of
- 20:21Speaker 2: a lot money, more money than what he settled on
- 20:24Speaker 2: to stay in Tampa Bay. Good for him. You know,
- 20:27Speaker 2: it's always good to hear a player stay with his team,
- 20:30Speaker 2: you know, and takes less money and all that, you know,
- 20:33Speaker 2: because he really likes where he is, which is fine.
- 20:36Speaker 2: But they did make a run at Godwin and he
- 20:39Speaker 2: just didn't want to leave Tampa Bay. So they know
- 20:42Speaker 2: they need to get with It's not like they're not trying.
- 20:45Speaker 2: They and they will continue to try. We meanted, you know,
- 20:48Speaker 2: Cooper Cup is now a legit free agent. He's going
- 20:51Speaker 2: to be released, so you don't have to trade for him.
- 20:53Speaker 2: I'm not saying he's going to be w R one,
- 20:56Speaker 2: but I did like him on the team in the
- 20:59Speaker 2: locker room and in that wide receiver room. Absolutely.
- 21:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:02Speaker 6: It just feels like, you know, we talk a lot
- 21:04Speaker 6: about trenches, trenches, trenches, and then you talk a lot
- 21:07Speaker 6: about culture right and bringing some of those guys in
- 21:11Speaker 6: you need that. And then they did that on day
- 21:13Speaker 6: one of free agency and it's like, well, what about
- 21:14Speaker 6: the wide receiver? And it's like, yeah, they still need
- 21:17Speaker 6: the wide receiver, but isn't this what we just talked
- 21:19Speaker 6: about for the last month is what they needed to do.
- 21:21Speaker 6: And then they went out and.
- 21:22Speaker 2: This is what Belichick did when he first got here.
- 21:24Speaker 2: We signed Anthony Pleussant, he signed Bobby Hamilton. He brought
- 21:27Speaker 2: in Brian Cox, guys who you know, were hungry, would
- 21:31Speaker 2: know how to play football, know how to behave, know
- 21:33Speaker 2: how to practice, and you know he built the team
- 21:37Speaker 2: like that. You have to do that.
- 21:39Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like a very It was a very work
- 21:41Speaker 4: two thousand and one, like free agent class. Yeah, they
- 21:44Speaker 4: did not have a big shiny object like Milton Williams
- 21:47Speaker 4: in two thousand and one. But the Spallanes in the
- 21:51Speaker 4: Carlton Davises of the world, that's you know, it was
- 21:54Speaker 4: Mike Rabel. Yep, Harold Landry, Mike Rabel, it was you
- 21:57Speaker 4: know in you mentioned the guys up front. Otis Smith
- 22:01Speaker 4: actually came in two thousand but yes, that was what
- 22:03Speaker 4: I would say is Carlton Davis and Spelane. You know,
- 22:07Speaker 4: these are all guys that you know, Brian Cox in
- 22:11Speaker 4: two thousand and one. You know, Mike Compton, is Morgan
- 22:15Speaker 4: Moses like a veteran offensive lineman who started in the
- 22:18Speaker 4: league and played it, established a level of competence in
- 22:22Speaker 4: the league. It's not a roll of the dice on
- 22:25Speaker 4: Trey Jacobs in Vederian Lowe it's a guy who has started.
- 22:30Speaker 2: In the line and beyond what they do in the field.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Vrabel knows these are guys who will carry my water,
- 22:36Speaker 2: they'll carry my message. These are, you know, the guys
- 22:39Speaker 2: that will set the tone in the locker room, set
- 22:42Speaker 2: the tone at practice. You have to have that.
- 22:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:46Speaker 6: And just to go back to your question about the draft,
- 22:49Speaker 6: and I've was kicking this around with you guys a
- 22:50Speaker 6: little bit yesterday. I just the more that I see
- 22:54Speaker 6: what they're doing and then listen to what they say,
- 22:57Speaker 6: the more that skill player at four overall stands out
- 23:01Speaker 6: to me as a possibility. Because when we were at
- 23:04Speaker 6: the combine, when Vrabel was asked about that that wide
- 23:07Speaker 6: receiver one, you know how, he said, they're hard to
- 23:10Speaker 6: get most of the time. You have to draft it yourself.
- 23:12Speaker 6: And I just I look at the way that they've
- 23:15Speaker 6: moved and we're now two free agencies in where Calvin
- 23:19Speaker 6: Ridley says no, Brandon Nyuke says no, DK Metcalf says no,
- 23:23Speaker 6: Chris Godwin says no. And until you get to the
- 23:26Speaker 6: point where you can attract that level of talent at
- 23:28Speaker 6: that particular position, you might have to draft your own
- 23:31Speaker 6: guy and maybe that guy, you know, maybe it's Teed McMillan,
- 23:34Speaker 6: and he's not a true number one receiver, but then
- 23:38Speaker 6: next offseason you get the number one receiver and now
- 23:41Speaker 6: he's t Higgins right to Jamar Chase, and you have
- 23:44Speaker 6: that sort of thing going for you. So I just
- 23:47Speaker 6: Travis Hunter has been a wide receiver to me this
- 23:49Speaker 6: whole time, So I put him up at the top.
- 23:52Speaker 6: But Travis Hunter, Ted McMillan, Tyler Warren, you know, a
- 23:57Speaker 6: true guy that you feel like you can fee targets to,
- 24:01Speaker 6: that can be a true high volume, you know, run
- 24:03Speaker 6: the offense through this player. I just wonder if that's
- 24:07Speaker 6: on the table, what about CENTI, Lord help me.
- 24:10Speaker 4: Not for me.
- 24:12Speaker 2: What if they trade back.
- 24:14Speaker 4: But based on what they did yesterday, I'd put him
- 24:16Speaker 4: in the mix. That's what That's how I kind of felt,
- 24:19Speaker 4: because I think that they sort of we're gonna, as
- 24:22Speaker 4: Mike said, play with our hair on fire. On defense.
- 24:24Speaker 4: We're going to be a high pressure defense, trying to
- 24:26Speaker 4: make plays. We're going to try to run the ball.
- 24:29Speaker 4: We're going to try to be you know, right, and
- 24:33Speaker 4: we're going to try to be you know, twenty whatever.
- 24:37Speaker 4: Eighteen Tennessee I just don't believe nineteen because doubt truly
- 24:44Speaker 4: was his demise in Tennessee.
- 24:46Speaker 6: What was was trying to win games like that, saying
- 24:49Speaker 6: we don't need a J. Brown, We'll draft Trey Lon
- 24:51Speaker 6: Berks because we're going to be a run first football team.
- 24:54Speaker 6: We're going to play great defense. Like I just feel
- 24:56Speaker 6: like he's had to have learned from and I mean verable,
- 24:59Speaker 6: like had to have learn from those experiences that you
- 25:02Speaker 6: just you're not gonna win like that.
- 25:04Speaker 4: Even Mac Collins kind of known as a blocking wide receiver.
- 25:07Speaker 6: I just genty to me. I feel like it's still
- 25:11Speaker 6: if you're already a good team that can add him
- 25:14Speaker 6: in as a bonus piece, like the Eagles just did
- 25:16Speaker 6: with Saquon Barkley for example, Like, then that's a great
- 25:19Speaker 6: pick for you. But unless they add a left tackle
- 25:24Speaker 6: a left guard.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Well, so let's just say that cam Ward or or
- 25:30Speaker 2: sad Or doesn't get picked before the Patriots. Does that
- 25:34Speaker 2: increase the chance that a team may want to trade
- 25:37Speaker 2: up to get one of those two guys in the
- 25:39Speaker 2: Patriots pick up a pick or two extra to be
- 25:42Speaker 2: able to get Astra genty, But now you can also
- 25:45Speaker 2: maybe get a tackle or you know, a wide receiver.
- 25:48Speaker 6: Yeah maybe, I mean, I just I would rather draft
- 25:52Speaker 6: the receiver instead of gent But like in either way,
- 25:55Speaker 6: that's the trade down scenario makes sense, right, I think
- 25:58Speaker 6: everybody would take a trade down the Patriots position, and
- 26:01Speaker 6: maybe you can draft Tech McMillan at nine instead of
- 26:03Speaker 6: drafting Tech McMillan at four, and then everybody feels a
- 26:06Speaker 6: little bit better about it. But I just until you
- 26:09Speaker 6: can be the bell of the ball and find a
- 26:11Speaker 6: way to get one of these diva wide receivers to
- 26:14Speaker 6: take you up on your offer, like you're just gonna be.
- 26:17Speaker 2: He went to Pittsburgh. Was that because of Russell Wilson,
- 26:21Speaker 2: Like because he didn't want to be in cold weather
- 26:22Speaker 2: and he wanted to be a contender, so and went
- 26:25Speaker 2: to Neither.
- 26:26Speaker 4: There's a little bit of they've pushed back on the
- 26:30Speaker 4: whole warm weather thing. He said he didn't like this area,
- 26:34Speaker 4: and that's what he says. I'm not telling you that
- 26:37Speaker 4: he's not lying, because I think he probably is. His
- 26:41Speaker 4: camp says that he did not like this era, he
- 26:44Speaker 4: didn't want to come to this Massachusetts Massachusetts specifically said that, right.
- 26:49Speaker 4: I don't now he may have said I want a
- 26:51Speaker 4: warm weather climate. I didn't hear that. Yeah, there was
- 26:55Speaker 4: a report, but that's what everyone is saying now, and
- 26:57Speaker 4: they've pushed back on that over the weekend his camp,
- 27:01Speaker 4: But again, that's what his camp is paid to do
- 27:03Speaker 4: make their client look better. But I don't think anything
- 27:06Speaker 4: to do with Russell Wilson. He's not under contract yet.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Okay.
- 27:10Speaker 4: As matter of fact, they're talking about Aaron Rodgers, which
- 27:14Speaker 4: I think would be unbelievable.
- 27:16Speaker 6: Like some of those cells for Metcalf that are now
- 27:20Speaker 6: coming out. And you always hear that side of the
- 27:22Speaker 6: street is that you know, Pittsburgh has a great history
- 27:25Speaker 6: with wide receivers. You know, he feels like he's going
- 27:27Speaker 6: to be well coached at that position, and you know,
- 27:30Speaker 6: put in positions to succeed. And I think Mike tomlin
- 27:32Speaker 6: Is still continues to be a draw and them being
- 27:35Speaker 6: a nine to ten win team is still better than
- 27:38Speaker 6: a four win Patriots roster. And you know, there's just
- 27:40Speaker 6: a little bit more proven commodity there, I guess with Pittsburgh.
- 27:44Speaker 4: But I mean it is a playoff team. I dis
- 27:47Speaker 4: missed Pittsburgh, no, but I dismissed them every year to
- 27:50Speaker 4: us they're contenders, but like compared to the rest of
- 27:53Speaker 4: the league, they're contenders. Like I dismissed them every year
- 27:55Speaker 4: because I don't think they could possibly win big in
- 27:58Speaker 4: the playoffs. They're limited most people do. But they win
- 28:02Speaker 4: nine or ten games every year. They won ten last now.
- 28:04Speaker 2: But even their own fan base is getting frustrated.
- 28:06Speaker 4: They want Tom went out. They think they should be
- 28:09Speaker 4: better with what they have. So they have talent. In
- 28:12Speaker 4: other words, their fans think they have more talent than
- 28:14Speaker 4: they're winning.
- 28:16Speaker 3: Such a weird thing, the perpetual six to seven seed.
- 28:19Speaker 3: I mean, at this point, after back to back four
- 28:21Speaker 3: win seasons, what I wouldn't give to be the six.
- 28:24Speaker 4: That's my point. Det Calf, you're not necessarily in the
- 28:28Speaker 4: weeds breaking down the depth charts of the teams. You're
- 28:31Speaker 4: seeing ten wins and four wins, Like, what's my decision?
- 28:37Speaker 5: You know?
- 28:38Speaker 2: A little some other NFL Daniel Jones going to the Colts,
- 28:44Speaker 2: there's a lot of it's a.
- 28:45Speaker 4: Good move for Indy. I think there's a chance that
- 28:48Speaker 4: he could be Sam Donald and resurrect himself.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Justin Fields to the Jets, yep, Justin Field. Speaking of
- 28:53Speaker 2: Sam Donald, he went to Seattle Gino Smith, where did
- 28:59Speaker 2: he go and went to the Raiders? Uh so a
- 29:03Speaker 2: lot of quarterback movement obviously, aren't Rogers is still out there?
- 29:09Speaker 2: What are the Vikings doing? They're gonna go with JJ.
- 29:12Speaker 6: Sounds like, yeah, the quarterback movement terrifies me because I
- 29:15Speaker 6: think everybody is running for the hills from this quarterback
- 29:18Speaker 6: class right now, and no one wants to be stuck
- 29:21Speaker 6: taking a quarterback in this draft, and they're going, you know,
- 29:24Speaker 6: every other direction besides.
- 29:26Speaker 4: Gonna give it the silver lining in that I told
- 29:29Speaker 4: one thousand percent co sign on what Evan just said.
- 29:31Speaker 4: But the one silver lining is that none of the
- 29:34Speaker 4: three teams ahead of them has signed one of those
- 29:37Speaker 4: guys yet, right, And I think that's good. Like I
- 29:41Speaker 4: think it would be bad if say the Giants end
- 29:43Speaker 4: up with Aaron Rodgers or you know, Cleveland ends up
- 29:48Speaker 4: signing you know, Kirk Cousins, whoever else is out there.
- 29:52Speaker 4: That would be bad to me.
- 29:53Speaker 3: Does Gino preclude the Raiders do you think from trading up.
- 29:56Speaker 6: For Well, it definitely sounded like they're not.
- 30:00Speaker 4: They're not drafting a quarterback. Why because there's not a
- 30:03Speaker 4: good quarterback to draft. They just Evan just told you
- 30:06Speaker 4: what they did, But I.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Don't think signing Geno Smith is the reason why.
- 30:09Speaker 4: Well, there they would rather have in the short term
- 30:12Speaker 4: than draft cam Wood or your door, Sanders, but.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Maybe have Geno Smith there and so you don't have
- 30:18Speaker 2: to start your door on day one.
- 30:20Speaker 4: But if they liked that option, they would go with
- 30:22Speaker 4: that option. I agree with Evan. I think that that
- 30:25Speaker 4: they're telling you that they don't believe in these quarterbacks.
- 30:27Speaker 6: They also were telling people all over the weekend after
- 30:30Speaker 6: the trade that they were going to pay Juna Smith
- 30:32Speaker 6: forty five million dollars a year on a new contract.
- 30:34Speaker 4: He's another guy who wins ten games now you know.
- 30:38Speaker 6: Yeah, they said the midle level and Gino is not
- 30:41Speaker 6: going to be mid level. He'll be paid more.
- 30:42Speaker 4: Like if you were the Bucks, would you draft Shad
- 30:44Speaker 4: Door Sanders. No, No, it's this. They have the same
- 30:47Speaker 4: guy I have, Baker. I know that's the same guy.
- 30:50Speaker 4: It's Gino Smith, Baker Mayfield. It's it's a very similar
- 30:57Speaker 4: situation for him. It's all. I'm all. I'm trying to
- 30:59Speaker 4: tell you. I respect you said earlier, like because you've
- 31:05Speaker 4: been on this for years and years and I always
- 31:07Speaker 4: make fun of you, but you know, guys will shake free,
- 31:09Speaker 4: guys will come lose. B blah blah blah. Okay, So
- 31:12Speaker 4: would you give the fourth overall pick to Philly for
- 31:15Speaker 4: a J.
- 31:15Speaker 8: Brown?
- 31:16Speaker 4: Nah? I would do it in a heartbeat. Who are
- 31:20Speaker 4: you getting in the fourth the fourth pick that's going
- 31:21Speaker 4: to be better than a J. Brown?
- 31:25Speaker 5: Right now?
- 31:26Speaker 9: No?
- 31:27Speaker 4: No, next year, two years when they're picking fourth again.
- 31:30Speaker 2: Paul makes a good point. I've said this a lot.
- 31:32Speaker 4: You know, if he shakes free, if that's a Fred guy,
- 31:35Speaker 4: he shakes free. How Philly says that he's not, he's
- 31:38Speaker 4: not shaking free? I always, well, Million, everyone's got a price.
- 31:44Speaker 2: You know, you also have Jim and I get that.
- 31:46Speaker 2: You don't have to pay the fourth round, the fourth
- 31:49Speaker 2: pick as much as he would for the fourth pick.
- 31:51Speaker 2: I would. You're not going to find somebody better Brown?
- 31:54Speaker 6: But what do you think make four for a J.
- 31:56Speaker 10: Brown?
- 31:57Speaker 6: And thirty two?
- 31:58Speaker 9: Like?
- 31:59Speaker 4: Is that allowed? I don't know if that's allowed for me.
- 32:04Speaker 4: I don't know if they'll allow it. I'm not even
- 32:06Speaker 4: just didn't he go from Tennessee to Philly for a
- 32:10Speaker 4: one into three?
- 32:11Speaker 5: Yep?
- 32:12Speaker 4: So now you're only going to get him for a
- 32:13Speaker 4: one and you want them to give you a pick
- 32:15Speaker 4: swap for it? Yes, yeah, I'm not sure.
- 32:17Speaker 6: I mean they'll agree, but well, the difference between four
- 32:20Speaker 6: and thirty two is a first round pick, correct, So
- 32:22Speaker 6: like you're you're trading first.
- 32:26Speaker 4: In fairness, alluding to that as a pick swap is
- 32:29Speaker 4: very disingenuous on my true, that's much more than a
- 32:32Speaker 4: pick swap.
- 32:34Speaker 2: But I would do that. Why did you do that?
- 32:36Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 32:37Speaker 6: I just just something. Give me the top five, I
- 32:39Speaker 6: would give me something else.
- 32:40Speaker 4: I would I understand what I've been saying. He wants
- 32:41Speaker 4: to he wants to draft a young player part of
- 32:44Speaker 4: the future. I would definitely sacrifice the fourth pick, though,
- 32:47Speaker 4: for for a proven commodity like that.
- 32:49Speaker 5: Well that's my question. And I look, I love A J.
- 32:51Speaker 5: Brown and he's like him.
- 32:53Speaker 4: I can guy, don't forget. But I also just.
- 32:57Speaker 3: Wonder if Will Campbell is a decade long left tackle,
- 33:01Speaker 3: is that better for the long term health of the
- 33:02Speaker 3: franchise than pushing the issue this year with AJ Brown
- 33:07Speaker 3: when you're probably not quite ready and maybe making it
- 33:09Speaker 3: to the six or seventh seed.
- 33:11Speaker 4: Or kind of a decade long left tiger?
- 33:13Speaker 3: Is he Matt Lighte Well, if he's just a good,
- 33:15Speaker 3: very good, very good solid yeah, AJ Brown.
- 33:18Speaker 6: But I mean if he's but is that going.
- 33:20Speaker 5: To peter out?
- 33:21Speaker 4: Jonathan Ogden, I'll take I'll take John.
- 33:23Speaker 5: Is a J.
- 33:23Speaker 3: Brown going to start to go downhill in twenty twenty six?
- 33:26Speaker 2: But you feel like we're hitting If there's a time
- 33:29Speaker 2: to pay that big price wide receiver, it's probably now,
- 33:33Speaker 2: so that in three years or you know, four years
- 33:36Speaker 2: when you have to make it just you know, make
- 33:38Speaker 2: a decision on Drake May.
- 33:40Speaker 5: He's seen it so much better.
- 33:42Speaker 2: I don't need a J. Brown. I'll go out and
- 33:44Speaker 2: re up that position when I have to pay facilitate,
- 33:47Speaker 2: you know, Yeah, I like to get it.
- 33:49Speaker 3: I can listen and I think I made the point
- 33:51Speaker 3: last show of like getting him somebody now to excel
- 33:53Speaker 3: try to accelerate the process for sure. I just I mean,
- 33:55Speaker 3: I'm just saying for sake of argument, you know, is
- 33:57Speaker 3: it are you just going to get to where the
- 33:59Speaker 3: steel are with AJ Brown? And then he's going to
- 34:01Speaker 3: start to decline and then you're going to be stuck.
- 34:03Speaker 3: Whereas you know, if you had an option right now
- 34:05Speaker 3: for saying, let's secure our line and know that that's
- 34:08Speaker 3: going to be good for the foreseeable future, and we
- 34:11Speaker 3: can now build around that for the next decade rather
- 34:13Speaker 3: than the clock's ticking with AJ Brown, the.
- 34:16Speaker 4: Building around an offensive line for a decade.
- 34:17Speaker 2: Well, and that's the thing, Like, I'm not as worried
- 34:22Speaker 2: about rebuilding that offensive line as some people are. I
- 34:25Speaker 2: believe if you, if you're smart about who you either
- 34:28Speaker 2: sign or draft, and you have good coaching, we can
- 34:31Speaker 2: get back to respectability on the offensive line. I think
- 34:35Speaker 2: wide receiver's tougher, you know, to get that one guy
- 34:39Speaker 2: that is a is a game changer.
- 34:41Speaker 6: Oh, I just That's why I just keep coming back to,
- 34:44Speaker 6: like no one's throwing no one's saving you from this
- 34:46Speaker 6: problem at wide receiver, Like you can't you can't even
- 34:49Speaker 6: get Chris godwined to take twenty million dollars more to
- 34:52Speaker 6: come from Tampa.
- 34:53Speaker 2: It's a good point.
- 34:54Speaker 6: It's like no one, no one's throwing you a life
- 34:56Speaker 6: raft here. And I don't think AJ Brown is just
- 34:59Speaker 6: magically going to come up available and they're going to
- 35:01Speaker 6: trade for him or whatever the case may be.
- 35:03Speaker 2: And Carillo Patriots to sign a j At some point.
- 35:07Speaker 6: You gotta just draft your own guy, like you gotta
- 35:09Speaker 6: just you're just gonna have to take a plunge with
- 35:11Speaker 6: with somebody at the top of the draft and not
- 35:13Speaker 6: somebody at thirty eight like Jalen Polk or fifty like
- 35:16Speaker 6: Taekwon Thorton, like somebody in the first round. That's your guy,
- 35:20Speaker 6: whether it's Ted or it's Matthew Golden or whoever. Like
- 35:23Speaker 6: you just have to go out and get that guy,
- 35:25Speaker 6: because I mean, how many years are we going to
- 35:28Speaker 6: do this that we're well, dk Metcalf's now available in
- 35:31Speaker 6: a trade, Maybe he'll come to the Patriots. Nope, you know,
- 35:33Speaker 6: Cooper Cups now available, Maybe he'll come to the Patriots.
- 35:36Speaker 4: Nope.
- 35:37Speaker 6: Like we're gonna just keep doing this perpetual cycle at
- 35:39Speaker 6: that position.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Yep, all right, eight five to five Pats five hundred
- 35:43Speaker 2: is the ace ticket, hut Line podcast at Patriots dot
- 35:46Speaker 2: com is the email address? What else do we want
- 35:48Speaker 2: to put on the table before we get to the
- 35:52Speaker 2: listeners viewers.
- 35:54Speaker 6: I do like the Morgan Moses signing. You know, I
- 35:56Speaker 6: really we've talked a lot about defense, but Morgan Moses
- 36:00Speaker 6: his thirty five inches.
- 36:02Speaker 4: Yeah, he's got long arms, long arms.
- 36:04Speaker 7: Will cambell an inch and still be yeah him and
- 36:07Speaker 7: him and on one who next to each other is
- 36:09Speaker 7: gonna They're gonna be a really good run blocking right
- 36:12Speaker 7: side of the line, which is typically what Josh likes
- 36:14Speaker 7: to do offensively.
- 36:16Speaker 6: You know, Marcus Cannon and Shaq Mason and you know
- 36:18Speaker 6: the guys over on that side. So, uh, they're he's
- 36:23Speaker 6: a very good, you know, NFL starter. Is he a
- 36:26Speaker 6: great elite tackle? No, but he's an NFL player as
- 36:29Speaker 6: as Paul said, and I think he'll he'll help out
- 36:32Speaker 6: a lot. They still need a left tackle, they still
- 36:34Speaker 6: need a left guard, and they might need a center.
- 36:35Speaker 4: So they they still got a way to go.
- 36:40Speaker 6: Yeah, that's yeah, right, but it will be nice that
- 36:44Speaker 6: you know, come August, we won't be saying, so who's
- 36:46Speaker 6: the right tackle?
- 36:47Speaker 11: Right?
- 36:47Speaker 6: Like, you know, like that we know who the.
- 36:50Speaker 5: Yeah, well that's the question.
- 36:51Speaker 3: I wonder where it puts Kayden Wallace And you know,
- 36:53Speaker 3: are those guys going to get a chance at left tackle?
- 36:55Speaker 3: Were just gonna bring that experiment back out and see
- 36:59Speaker 3: if anybody who's been on the right side can play
- 37:00Speaker 3: on the left side, or you know, are they going
- 37:02Speaker 3: to make a move for a legit left?
- 37:04Speaker 5: I mean, there's just not a lot of options.
- 37:06Speaker 4: It's it's hard to accept Cam Robinson at this point.
- 37:09Speaker 4: At the right price.
- 37:11Speaker 5: Yeah, at the right price.
- 37:12Speaker 4: Is he going to get like a Dan? It's Dan Moore?
- 37:16Speaker 4: Is it going to get a Dan?
- 37:16Speaker 5: More?
- 37:17Speaker 3: Like?
- 37:17Speaker 6: That would sound like it if he hasn't signed already.
- 37:19Speaker 6: I feel like if that deal was out there for him,
- 37:21Speaker 6: he would have already, he would have signed yesterday. It's probably,
- 37:24Speaker 6: but I don't know. I mean I would take him
- 37:26Speaker 6: at the right price. But I think his last couple
- 37:29Speaker 6: of games in Minnesota are really cooling his market.
- 37:31Speaker 4: I mean, he was his numbers were compable of Madarian Low's.
- 37:35Speaker 6: He was rough down the stretch for them last How
- 37:38Speaker 6: does this h.
- 37:40Speaker 2: This version of the free agent frenzy feel differently to
- 37:44Speaker 2: you than in twenty one when you know they signed
- 37:48Speaker 2: judea On and Hunter Henry and all those guys, or
- 37:51Speaker 2: does it feel any different?
- 37:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it feels similar, yeah to me to
- 37:55Speaker 4: twenty one. I thought that that was a good free
- 37:57Speaker 4: agent group in twenty one. I mean, I thought Judah
- 38:00Speaker 4: was really good for them, you know, I thought they
- 38:02Speaker 4: filled some holes that weren't like Evan likes to say, like,
- 38:05Speaker 4: they're not sexy. You know, guys that you could put
- 38:07Speaker 4: on your fantasy team, but like Gotcha filled a role
- 38:10Speaker 4: as a run stopper for what four years. I was
- 38:14Speaker 4: never a huge fan, but you know, it's an unglamorous spot.
- 38:17Speaker 4: He did what he was what he was asked to do.
- 38:20Speaker 4: Hunter Henry did a really good job at tight. I
- 38:23Speaker 4: I thought that the only the difference I feel this
- 38:25Speaker 4: mom and Aalore were kind of disappointments. Yeah, I would say.
- 38:29Speaker 2: This time there's I think there was more competition this year.
- 38:33Speaker 4: Yeah than there was that year, No, no doubt. That's
- 38:35Speaker 4: why I think this was a little bit more like
- 38:37Speaker 4: A one, Yeah, twenty one.
- 38:39Speaker 3: More meat and potatoes this year, where that year you
- 38:42Speaker 3: had a big edge rusher.
- 38:43Speaker 5: You added a couple receivers, you know that.
- 38:46Speaker 4: I mean people look and say, well, they got a
- 38:48Speaker 4: bunch of guys for like these small money deals. Well
- 38:50Speaker 4: it's just it's relative. It's twenty five years later, right,
- 38:56Speaker 4: so the money, you know, like Robert Splaine's contract is
- 39:00Speaker 4: probably not all that different. Percent You know, I'm not
- 39:02Speaker 4: going to go with the percentage I know and all that,
- 39:04Speaker 4: but I don't think you know, people looked at that
- 39:07Speaker 4: Spalayan contract yesterday and The initial reaction was like, wow,
- 39:09Speaker 4: that's a lot of money, but it's really it's market value.
- 39:12Speaker 4: Like for these guys, the one that was really high
- 39:16Speaker 4: is Milton Williams, and that was different than anything they
- 39:19Speaker 4: did in twenty one. I mean, uh one, they didn't
- 39:22Speaker 4: have a guy that was I mean, he's like the
- 39:24Speaker 4: is he the second or third highest paid defensive tackle
- 39:27Speaker 4: now Chris Jones and Christian Wilkins.
- 39:28Speaker 2: He's now the highest per season in Patriots history, right.
- 39:32Speaker 4: Right, So that's a big that's I don't care what era.
- 39:35Speaker 4: That's a big money contract and a lot of the
- 39:37Speaker 4: projections had him well below that heading in, But that's
- 39:41Speaker 4: totally that's the price you had to pay. No, no, no,
- 39:44Speaker 4: the the analytics sites.
- 39:46Speaker 6: Now I know they give you around twenty they give.
- 39:49Speaker 4: You these estimates and it was like seventeen to nineteen
- 39:52Speaker 4: and you got twenty six. Like that's but what you
- 39:56Speaker 4: have to pay when you need a guy, right, when
- 39:58Speaker 4: you want the guy, that's what you have to do.
- 40:00Speaker 4: I applaud that approach.
- 40:02Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I've had my money. My concerns about Milton
- 40:05Speaker 6: Williams that I expressed before free agency, but when you
- 40:08Speaker 6: look at his body type, his game, and then you
- 40:11Speaker 6: look at Jeffrey Simmons in Tennessee. Similar type of players,
- 40:15Speaker 6: similar weight, similar size. I could see how Rabel and
- 40:19Speaker 6: Terrell Williams look at Milton Williams and say that's our
- 40:23Speaker 6: that's our Jeffrey Simmons here, you know, and and hopefully
- 40:26Speaker 6: it works out that well.
- 40:27Speaker 2: But I don't care what they pay these guys. They
- 40:29Speaker 2: wanted them, they got them. Yeah, I don't care what.
- 40:31Speaker 3: They I think he's a little bit of a tone
- 40:33Speaker 3: setter too. I just I love the energy that he
- 40:35Speaker 3: plays with and you know, watching him play off of Carter,
- 40:38Speaker 3: certainly that's a big part of it, but he brings
- 40:40Speaker 3: his own juice to it's not just you know, a
- 40:42Speaker 3: guy picking up the scraps from what was left.
- 40:44Speaker 5: Over from from Davis and Carter.
- 40:47Speaker 3: So I I just think they needed kind of and
- 40:50Speaker 3: I bet it was part of the pitch of like, look,
- 40:53Speaker 3: we need somebody to be our guy in this room,
- 40:55Speaker 3: to really set the tone and be a leader, and
- 40:57Speaker 3: you know, every day show up with energy. And from
- 41:00Speaker 3: what I've seen a Milt Williams, it seems like he
- 41:02Speaker 3: can be that kind of guy for them, I think
- 41:04Speaker 3: they need to do More though, and build around him,
- 41:06Speaker 3: and you know, Tonga is a minor piece of it.
- 41:08Speaker 3: I think that's a role that you kind of just
- 41:09Speaker 3: have to have kicking around. But at the same time,
- 41:12Speaker 3: when you look at some of these defensive front seven guys,
- 41:14Speaker 3: we say, all right, well we start complimenting Milk Williams
- 41:16Speaker 3: with one of these promising edge rushers, you know, in
- 41:19Speaker 3: that early second round that are still available, you know,
- 41:21Speaker 3: and then you start to see like him and bar
- 41:23Speaker 3: More and this guy off the edge and you feel like,
- 41:25Speaker 3: all right, they're starting, they're starting to really build something here.
- 41:27Speaker 4: Yeah, you need to.
- 41:28Speaker 6: I think Landry can be that in the short term,
- 41:30Speaker 6: like kind of that trash collector that just kind of
- 41:32Speaker 6: finishes with the sack and you know, he's probably not
- 41:35Speaker 6: going to be the one that gets the pressure, but
- 41:37Speaker 6: he's there to just clean it up. And I think
- 41:39Speaker 6: he can do that. But I'm with you that those
- 41:41Speaker 6: day two edge rushers, to get another guy that can
- 41:44Speaker 6: win a one on one by himself is attractive. I
- 41:47Speaker 6: don't know if they need to do that at the
- 41:48Speaker 6: top of the draft necessarily anymore, but you know, like
- 41:52Speaker 6: our guy Josiah Stewart or someone like that, that can
- 41:54Speaker 6: just scream off the edge.
- 41:55Speaker 5: Still feels like they're a scheme pressure defense, right, Can we.
- 41:58Speaker 4: Get a Do you think there's a chance you could
- 42:01Speaker 4: get a big jump from Keon White.
- 42:04Speaker 6: I'm gonna see a lot of one on ones, especially
- 42:06Speaker 6: if Barmar is in there. I mean, it's definitely a different,
- 42:09Speaker 6: a better scheme for him. You know, they're not gonna
- 42:12Speaker 6: ask him to post up and keep containing on the
- 42:15Speaker 6: edge in this defense. You know they'll they'll let him
- 42:18Speaker 6: get up the field and go after the ball. But
- 42:21Speaker 6: I still think he's better inside, Like I still think
- 42:25Speaker 6: he's at his best rushing over the guard on third
- 42:27Speaker 6: down and things like that. But now maybe the lines
- 42:30Speaker 6: opening towards Milton Williams, he's gonna have those one on ones.
- 42:35Speaker 4: Yeah. And you know, I'm not telling you that I
- 42:39Speaker 4: thought Keon White blew everybody away at the beginning of
- 42:42Speaker 4: last year when everybody was getting all excited about the
- 42:45Speaker 4: sack numbers. But he is a high motor guy that
- 42:48Speaker 4: you were talking about with Milton Williams. I've seen key
- 42:51Speaker 4: On White be the guy that chases down the screen
- 42:53Speaker 4: twenty yards downfield. He has athleticism and a competitive streak,
- 42:59Speaker 4: to him, and I just wonder if maybe in a
- 43:02Speaker 4: more pigeonholed role and as Evan said, maybe less attention, right,
- 43:08Speaker 4: maybe you could get it. It's possible I get a
- 43:10Speaker 4: bump from.
- 43:11Speaker 5: I mean, put put me on the skeptical side with him.
- 43:13Speaker 2: And how we filled the Super Bowl this year.
- 43:17Speaker 6: San Francisco's sure.
- 43:21Speaker 4: Start looking there was a way I could figure that out.
- 43:23Speaker 6: You look at those guys, if you know White, everything
- 43:28Speaker 6: seems to really hinging on on Christian Barmore being healthy,
- 43:31Speaker 6: but bar Moore, White, Landry, Milton Williams. Those are four
- 43:37Speaker 6: elite athletes up front, like guys that really tested.
- 43:40Speaker 2: Now.
- 43:40Speaker 6: Landry is sort of a little bit older now, but
- 43:43Speaker 6: like when he came out of college, you know, Boston College. Uh,
- 43:46Speaker 6: he was a nine you know relative athletics score guy,
- 43:50Speaker 6: you know, nine point zero relative athleticscre guy.
- 43:52Speaker 2: Shades of Seymour Warre and Wilfork.
- 43:54Speaker 6: I wouldn't go that far, but there are four really
- 43:56Speaker 6: good athletes. And if you want to build a defense
- 43:59Speaker 6: that is going to be aggressive and get up the
- 44:01Speaker 6: field and isn't going to be as much you know,
- 44:03Speaker 6: hold the point of attack, like these four guys can definitely.
- 44:05Speaker 4: There is this there's like an upside to everything that
- 44:10Speaker 4: they did. Now there's a lot of ifs. You know,
- 44:12Speaker 4: if Harold Landry somehow reverts to his pre ACL form
- 44:17Speaker 4: because the last two years it's not been that. And
- 44:19Speaker 4: I know that you look at the sack numbers and say, wow,
- 44:22Speaker 4: you know they haven't had a guy that's nice.
- 44:23Speaker 6: I think he was like that in the last couple
- 44:26Speaker 6: of years of Rabel.
- 44:27Speaker 4: I thought the year before he towards a CL he
- 44:32Speaker 4: was dynamic, and then he got the he was a
- 44:35Speaker 4: pro bowler, got the contract, and he towards a CL
- 44:38Speaker 4: and I don't think he's been dynamic anymore. Mike showed
- 44:41Speaker 4: me some clips this morning, and he had a lot
- 44:43Speaker 4: of key on white like sacks like coming off the edge, quarterback,
- 44:48Speaker 4: you know, it's got time, got time, got time, steps
- 44:50Speaker 4: up in the pocket right into Harold Landry. I think
- 44:53Speaker 4: one of them was Drake May. Yep, one of the
- 44:55Speaker 4: sacks that he had was Drake May. But it wasn't
- 44:58Speaker 4: like this, you know, immediate win off the edge here,
- 45:02Speaker 4: you know t J. Watt kind of explosiveness. Right, that's
- 45:06Speaker 4: not how he wins.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Don Miller's available, I should that's really good, solid.
- 45:13Speaker 4: He's a good player.
- 45:14Speaker 5: He's a good player. I just I wonder with ke
- 45:16Speaker 5: On White.
- 45:16Speaker 3: Too many guys just to beat guards and can key
- 45:19Speaker 3: On White handle tackles. And that's something I think he's
- 45:22Speaker 3: struggled with with what I've seen in camp. You know,
- 45:25Speaker 3: he tries to just power rush and it doesn't usually work.
- 45:27Speaker 3: He doesn't only have the speed or the bend to
- 45:29Speaker 3: get around the corner. So it's yeah, I mean, if
- 45:32Speaker 3: Barmore can't go, I can definitely see I'm going to
- 45:36Speaker 3: assume he's not part of the equation. And then yeah,
- 45:39Speaker 3: I see ke White as solid, situational interior kind of
- 45:43Speaker 3: pass rush guy. I just wonder if they're going to
- 45:45Speaker 3: play four man front, two linebackers, nickel, go upfield and
- 45:49Speaker 3: get it, where does Keon White fit into that first
- 45:52Speaker 3: second down? I just I struggle putting him as a
- 45:55Speaker 3: defensive end, putting up against tackles. I ideally he'd be inside,
- 45:59Speaker 3: but it feels like you two good inside guys. Now
- 46:01Speaker 3: that's where my head's out with him. He's got stuff
- 46:03Speaker 3: to prove to me against tackles on the outside.
- 46:05Speaker 6: He's got to play fourth three end right like you
- 46:07Speaker 6: got to put his hand in the dirt fourth three
- 46:09Speaker 6: end and hope that was if you just go up
- 46:13Speaker 6: the field instead of having to do some of the
- 46:15Speaker 6: dent the pocket and keep the quarterback and.
- 46:20Speaker 2: The moves for an outside Russia, he admits, Iteah.
- 46:26Speaker 3: In college, Yeah, put guards on skates. I mean, he's
- 46:29Speaker 3: a nightmare, but at least not that like immediate win
- 46:34Speaker 3: type of guy.
- 46:35Speaker 2: You know, it takes him a little time to dance
- 46:38Speaker 2: you like that with the ball? Yeah, sure, all right,
- 46:42Speaker 2: let's go to the phones. Eight five to five past
- 46:44Speaker 2: five hundred is the hotline. Matt's in Boston.
- 46:48Speaker 12: What's up, Matt, Hey, guys, first time caller, long time listener.
- 46:54Speaker 12: I really agree with what you guys were saying about yesterday.
- 46:58Speaker 12: I'm feeling a lot better about like the actual NFL
- 47:00Speaker 12: talent on the team and not just like these you know,
- 47:05Speaker 12: end of the fiftiest man on.
- 47:06Speaker 13: The roster guys starting for us. I'm really hoping we
- 47:10Speaker 13: get our wide receiver one with Travis Hunter at pick four.
- 47:14Speaker 13: But as far as the rest of the free agency go,
- 47:17Speaker 13: do you think the pass could be making another move
- 47:18Speaker 13: before the draft or like, what's the timetable on kind
- 47:22Speaker 13: of the rest of free agency after after the first
- 47:25Speaker 13: forty eight hours that this.
- 47:26Speaker 2: I mean, listen, there were many many years where the
- 47:29Speaker 2: Patriots were not participants in the first day and then
- 47:33Speaker 2: they would make some moves later. This is a lot
- 47:38Speaker 2: There's still a lot of things that are going to
- 47:41Speaker 2: happen before the draft and even after the draft. So
- 47:45Speaker 2: this roster is still.
- 47:46Speaker 4: Still moves and I think the trade market is not dead.
- 47:49Speaker 4: I think there could be a significant trade to happen.
- 47:52Speaker 6: Yeah, I think in free agency most of like the
- 47:55Speaker 6: needle movers are off the board at this point. But
- 47:58Speaker 6: just looking at you know, interior offensive line for example,
- 48:02Speaker 6: like I still think there there are centers and guards
- 48:05Speaker 6: out there that could start in the NFL on a team.
- 48:08Speaker 4: You know, there's a guy from the Colts that signed
- 48:10Speaker 4: with Minnesota that evidently the Patriots were, Yes, it is
- 48:15Speaker 4: fries I don't French spelled. Reportedly they were. They were
- 48:20Speaker 4: involved in him. So they're looking for that too. Interior
- 48:24Speaker 4: smart left guard.
- 48:25Speaker 6: Yeah, left guard is a big spot I think for them.
- 48:27Speaker 2: Still, Thanks Matt, Let's go to Joe in New Hampshire.
- 48:32Speaker 2: What's up, Joe?
- 48:34Speaker 14: Hey, guys, how's going. So I was just thinking because
- 48:40Speaker 14: seemingly every wide receiver in existence doesn't want to come
- 48:42Speaker 14: to New England. Would you guys consider trading like a
- 48:46Speaker 14: sixth or seventh round sick to get Cooper Cup just
- 48:48Speaker 14: to make sure you have you don't have to.
- 48:51Speaker 4: Yeah, but he's saying, would you won't be released until tomorrow,
- 48:54Speaker 4: He's saying, would you do it to make sure.
- 48:56Speaker 14: You get Oh yeah, sure, give you your seventh and
- 48:59Speaker 14: not release them?
- 49:00Speaker 5: Yeah I would sure.
- 49:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 49:03Speaker 14: Yeah, that's just my thoughts. And seemingly every wide receiver
- 49:06Speaker 14: doesn't want to come here.
- 49:07Speaker 15: But thanks guys, now, okay.
- 49:09Speaker 6: Thanks, I'm coming.
- 49:11Speaker 2: I haven't heard anything specifically about Cooper Cup on where
- 49:14Speaker 2: he'd like to know.
- 49:15Speaker 4: But like when you're content, like everybody always says everybody
- 49:19Speaker 4: else Every year when guys are made available, so and
- 49:22Speaker 4: so has been given permission to seek a trade, and
- 49:25Speaker 4: everybody says, why would you trade for him when he's
- 49:27Speaker 4: going to get released?
- 49:28Speaker 2: Because then you have to compete against that. That's why
- 49:30Speaker 2: you trade for him, right.
- 49:31Speaker 4: To make sure you get them if it's someone you
- 49:33Speaker 4: really want, you Now, maybe they don't feel like that.
- 49:36Speaker 4: Maybe they're like, well, I'll take them, but if I
- 49:39Speaker 4: don't get them, it's no loss either, right like, and
- 49:41Speaker 4: to your point about guys that shake free too, And
- 49:44Speaker 4: this is why I think the trade market's not dead.
- 49:48Speaker 4: A lot of times these free agent contracts. So the
- 49:50Speaker 4: Patriots spent what two hundred million yesterday and guarantee something
- 49:54Speaker 4: like that. So a lot of times you make these moves,
- 49:58Speaker 4: you don't know for sure you're going to have these
- 50:00Speaker 4: moves get executed, and all of a sudden you do.
- 50:02Speaker 4: So now you look at it and say, okay, so
- 50:04Speaker 4: what's our cap look like? All right, well that's a
- 50:07Speaker 4: little less than we like to have as a pad
- 50:09Speaker 4: going into the season. So where can we trim some
- 50:13Speaker 4: fat that maybe we would have been content not to
- 50:15Speaker 4: trim had we not landed Milton Williams as an example,
- 50:19Speaker 4: you know. So that's you know, one hundred and you know,
- 50:23Speaker 4: one hundred and four million that we didn't necessarily know
- 50:25Speaker 4: for sure we were going to be adding. So now
- 50:28Speaker 4: that's what teams do. Like the Vikings spent a lot
- 50:31Speaker 4: of money yesterday too.
- 50:33Speaker 2: Do they think they spent the most?
- 50:35Speaker 4: Yeah, and maybe there's somebody in Minnesota.
- 50:37Speaker 6: I will give you something for Jordan Addison.
- 50:41Speaker 4: There you go.
- 50:42Speaker 6: I don't know what that is, but I will give
- 50:43Speaker 6: you something.
- 50:44Speaker 4: You know, so maybe that doesn't require the fourth overall
- 50:47Speaker 4: pick that aj Brown would, but maybe it's a third
- 50:50Speaker 4: round pick or something. I don't know. I'm just spitball,
- 50:52Speaker 4: but Jordan Adison really good player, would be a really
- 50:55Speaker 4: good fit for this team. Now. I don't think Minnesota's
- 50:58Speaker 4: gonna let him go anywhere, but he's sort of been
- 51:01Speaker 4: periodically wide receiver ish with Minnesota, you know, because he's
- 51:06Speaker 4: obviously number two.
- 51:07Speaker 6: He's a streaky player. He was streaky in college too.
- 51:10Speaker 9: You know.
- 51:11Speaker 6: He's one of those guys that will have a one
- 51:13Speaker 6: hundred and fifty yard game and then the next week
- 51:14Speaker 6: we'll catch two passes, right, you know, it's a streaky player.
- 51:18Speaker 6: But I'm coming around to Cooper Cup just because at
- 51:21Speaker 6: this point, there's the chairs are circling and there are
- 51:24Speaker 6: not that many seats left, right.
- 51:26Speaker 4: I just feel like it just would add to your
- 51:28Speaker 4: ever growing list of third receivers. I want Cooper Cup.
- 51:31Speaker 4: I actually want him because I do think he will
- 51:33Speaker 4: help that room. But you need more talent at the position.
- 51:37Speaker 2: Yes, younger, Ian's in North Carolina. I hate Ian.
- 51:41Speaker 8: Hey guys, I hope you're doing well. First of all,
- 51:45Speaker 8: the whole Milton Williams thing. I think my Panthers friends
- 51:48Speaker 8: are going to kill me being here in North Carolina
- 51:51Speaker 8: in the contract negotiations. But I'm pretty confident after yesterday
- 51:56Speaker 8: that there's going to be two quarterbacks off the board
- 51:58Speaker 8: in the top three.
- 52:00Speaker 4: Wow.
- 52:01Speaker 8: I just think the Giants and the Browns, I just
- 52:03Speaker 8: can't see them going forward with Kenny Pickett or any
- 52:06Speaker 8: of those guys. I just think one of those three
- 52:09Speaker 8: teams are going to take a quarterback, and then that
- 52:11Speaker 8: board is gonna fall and we're gonna end up with
- 52:12Speaker 8: a Carter or Hunter.
- 52:13Speaker 6: Well, one of them is definitely going to take a quarterback,
- 52:16Speaker 6: like cam Warden is going to go at the top
- 52:17Speaker 6: of the draft.
- 52:18Speaker 2: But that wasn't the way it was perceived when the
- 52:21Speaker 2: draft talk started.
- 52:23Speaker 4: We gonna Warden is QB one. You think he's gonna go,
- 52:27Speaker 4: You guy, all of you guys U parlance Q one.
- 52:31Speaker 6: Oh, you're above that, parlance.
- 52:33Speaker 4: And then yeah, I just say, here's the top quarterback available.
- 52:36Speaker 4: I mean I speak in English literally saying the same
- 52:38Speaker 4: thing X. But he makes a good point because I
- 52:42Speaker 4: forgot about that Kenny Pickett trade. That's another example of
- 52:45Speaker 4: teams doing what Evan talked about. They're telling you they
- 52:48Speaker 4: don't love these quarterbacks and that they're even gonna look
- 52:52Speaker 4: look at a Kenny Pickett option as a possibility as
- 52:57Speaker 4: a stop gap.
- 52:58Speaker 6: Yeah, there's a nice market now for there's no used
- 53:02Speaker 6: to be franchise quarterback, rookie deal quarterback, and there was
- 53:05Speaker 6: no middle class to the quarterback market. Now because of
- 53:09Speaker 6: Baker and Gino and Donald the project, now there is
- 53:14Speaker 6: now a middle class to that. So Daniel Jones gets
- 53:18Speaker 6: a decent amount of money, Kenny Pickett gets moved.
- 53:21Speaker 2: Like what's the mac Jones market these days?
- 53:23Speaker 6: Not great?
- 53:24Speaker 4: That's another one. It's waiting great, that's another one. Now
- 53:27Speaker 4: I would say he's a backup, he's a backup market.
- 53:29Speaker 4: I think Kenny Pickett is probably not completely I think
- 53:33Speaker 4: Kenny Pickett is similar to Donald when Donald was done
- 53:36Speaker 4: with the Jets, and like Kenny Pickett didn't really have
- 53:40Speaker 4: much success in Pittsburgh, but he wasn't a complete disaster.
- 53:46Speaker 4: And you know, like Zach Wilson as an example, Yeah,
- 53:50Speaker 4: who just signed with somebody Miami has a backup. Yeah,
- 53:53Speaker 4: which is not a bad move from Miami. A team
- 53:55Speaker 4: that needs the backup, it's the guy that's actually played
- 53:58Speaker 4: some games now as opposed to Skyler Thompson, and.
- 54:01Speaker 6: I mean Justin Fields gets gets a decent contract. They're
- 54:06Speaker 6: they're telling you.
- 54:07Speaker 4: That tell they're basically telling you anything, but cam Warden
- 54:12Speaker 4: shoulde Sanders is a better option?
- 54:14Speaker 6: Well, I think definitely anything better than cam Ward I
- 54:17Speaker 6: think has kind of cemented himself in the maybe a
- 54:20Speaker 6: little bit of a of a tier above everybody else
- 54:22Speaker 6: in this draft. But yeah, Chador Jackson, Dart Will Howard,
- 54:27Speaker 6: like all those guys, everybody is doesn't want to touch
- 54:30Speaker 6: anything else in.
- 54:31Speaker 8: I was just gonna say, what about the Giant because
- 54:34Speaker 8: at three, I mean, they don't really need I mean,
- 54:36Speaker 8: of course that dual card it would be nice, but
- 54:38Speaker 8: they have a good, you know, pretty good D line
- 54:40Speaker 8: already and they've added a depot and haul it to
- 54:42Speaker 8: their secondary right.
- 54:44Speaker 6: But you need two of those teams to take quarterbacks, right.
- 54:47Speaker 4: So if camp Ward goes one and the Giants don't
- 54:50Speaker 4: make another move, they're they're probably going to have to
- 54:53Speaker 4: look long and hard at Sanders. Yeah. Well, I think
- 54:57Speaker 4: that's why they're talking to Aaron Rodgers because they don't
- 55:02Speaker 4: want them.
- 55:02Speaker 2: But all right, thanks An, Thanks for the call.
- 55:06Speaker 4: All right, that's why I would root, if you're a
- 55:09Speaker 4: Patriots fan, root for Rogers to go to Pittsburgh. Yeah,
- 55:13Speaker 4: and then I think that almost forces the giant's hands,
- 55:16Speaker 4: like you can't go in with Tommy Cutlets. You know,
- 55:20Speaker 4: it's a bad.
- 55:20Speaker 2: Spot to be spot all right, my food's here, so
- 55:25Speaker 2: we're gonna take a break. Lots of good talk emails
- 55:28Speaker 2: are flying in, so we're gonna get to a lot

- 57:21Speaker 19: It's time now for another episode of Pats from the
- 57:23Speaker 19: Past podcast Matt Smith alongside Paul Parrillo. Please to be
- 57:27Speaker 19: joined by number seventy on your scorecard, but number one
- 57:29Speaker 19: in our hearts at least today.
- 57:30Speaker 4: Paul absolutely right next to that.
- 57:32Speaker 19: Yeah, and you'd better be careful. Yeah, and that's logan
- 57:35Speaker 19: Nankins logan. Thanks for coming in.
- 57:36Speaker 5: How you doing, man, I'm doing great. Thanks for having
- 57:38Speaker 5: me us.
- 57:38Speaker 19: Yeah, I really appreciate it.
- 57:39Speaker 4: You talked about being you know, selfless and you know,
- 57:42Speaker 4: like Richard was, but you obviously displayed that you talked about.
- 57:45Speaker 4: Don't forget that you played tackle a little bit. Matt Scott.
- 57:48Speaker 4: You know that the anecdote from Dante about the day
- 57:51Speaker 4: that you had to play tackle like on a moment's notice.
- 57:54Speaker 16: So we were, we were.
- 57:55Speaker 19: This was your first year. Both Paul and I are
- 57:58Speaker 19: kind of embarrassed about it, to be perfect honest with that,
- 58:00Speaker 19: I want to put words in Paul's mouth. But we're
- 58:03Speaker 19: part of the Hall of Fame committee to select people
- 58:06Speaker 19: to get on the ballot, and then legitimately when the
- 58:08Speaker 19: people get on the ballot, it's a fan vote, you know,
- 58:12Speaker 19: and as you can imagine, skill position, guys, you know
- 58:14Speaker 19: we're gonna get the fan vote. But this is the
- 58:16Speaker 19: first year that you were on that ballot, and so
- 58:20Speaker 19: it's part of one of the things that I do
- 58:22Speaker 19: here is, hey, who can who's a great person as
- 58:24Speaker 19: an ambassador for Richard Seymour, for Ty Law, for Teddy Bruski,
- 58:30Speaker 19: for Logan Mankins, that can really speak to who that
- 58:33Speaker 19: person was as a player and why they deserve to
- 58:35Speaker 19: be why do they think they would be a great
- 58:37Speaker 19: Patriot Hall of Famer. And of course we went to Dante,
- 58:40Speaker 19: and so we're talking to Dante and he's giving you
- 58:42Speaker 19: all the platitudes that you could think of that Dante
- 58:44Speaker 19: would give you. Nobody tougher, comparing you as somebody who
- 58:48Speaker 19: did coach. He wasn't maybe an offensive line coach, but
- 58:51Speaker 19: he was on the team when Hannah was here, so
- 58:54Speaker 19: it's not blasphemy for him to mention your name and
- 58:57Speaker 19: to me that that's an awful lot of credibility. But
- 59:00Speaker 19: we stopped after one point. All right, Donte, that was great.
- 59:02Speaker 19: He goes, I'd like to say one more thing. This
- 59:06Speaker 19: is really important to me, and he talked about again
- 59:08Speaker 19: how selfless you were and the fact that I don't know,
- 59:11Speaker 19: I guess it was light probably who got hurt. And
- 59:13Speaker 19: you're playing the Ravens and you're guess what, Logan you're
- 59:18Speaker 19: playing tackle this week, and that's the Ravens with Terrell
- 59:20Speaker 19: Suggs and somebody like that. And he talked about how
- 59:23Speaker 19: you nearly pitched a shutout that game, but that you
- 59:27Speaker 19: were pissed on one particular play that maybe Suggs got
- 59:30Speaker 19: a hand up or maybe like sort of swept and
- 59:33Speaker 19: knocked Tom down. And he talked about how pissed you
- 59:35Speaker 19: were about that, and he goes, you know, it's okay
- 59:37Speaker 19: for the quarterback to get rid of the ball. To logan,
- 59:40Speaker 19: don't blame that one on you. But that's how he thought.
- 59:43Speaker 19: That's how he felt about you. Do you remember that
- 59:46Speaker 19: game in that week having.
- 59:47Speaker 2: To kick out?
- 59:48Speaker 20: Yeah, I still remember. I shouldn't have got beat on
- 59:50Speaker 20: that one. I just went sat a little too far.
- 59:53Speaker 20: I got feeling too comfortable and he got me.
- 59:56Speaker 5: On it up an under. But uh yeah, those games
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: we uh.
- 1:00:01Speaker 20: I actually liked going out to tackle every now and then,
- 1:00:04Speaker 20: just I don't know, it was fun just to change
- 1:00:06Speaker 20: it up every now and then.
- 1:00:07Speaker 6: But that was the second time.
- 1:00:09Speaker 20: The first time I played tackle, I didn't find out
- 1:00:11Speaker 20: untill like twenty minutes before the game, So that one
- 1:00:14Speaker 20: was a little tougher. But the one against the Ravens
- 1:00:17Speaker 20: was nice because I actually got the practice all week
- 1:00:19Speaker 20: at tackle, so that was a lot better. But it
- 1:00:21Speaker 20: was I liked tackle.
- 1:00:22Speaker 5: It was fun.
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: Was what was the other one?
- 1:00:26Speaker 20: Miami am home? And then one time I had to
- 1:00:28Speaker 20: play the second half, I think against the Texans or something,
- 1:00:32Speaker 20: so that was the backup tackle.
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: It amazes me, like what does he say, like, yeah,
- 1:00:36Speaker 4: I got, I set to wide, I got, I got
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: up and under it, like it was probably twenty years
- 1:00:41Speaker 4: ago at this point.
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: Like exactly you remember your bad place.
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: It amazed the good ones.
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: Oh, I can tell you about the tape measure home
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: runs I allowed in college. I don't want to get
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: to that's another podcast for a different time, right, just
- 1:00:54Speaker 4: you know, again, I want to stay with the teammate
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: and the selflessness and the season you played on a
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: twenty C L. Well, you know, Philip Rivers played a quarterback,
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: you know, in the AOC Championship game against you guys
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: on a twenty A CL and I think it was
- 1:01:07Speaker 4: one of the more heroic performances I've seen. You played
- 1:01:09Speaker 4: a whole season like that. I like, how do you
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: how do you do that?
- 1:01:13Speaker 20: I don't know, they said maybe I was used to
- 1:01:16Speaker 20: having a loose knee or something. I don't know, but
- 1:01:19Speaker 20: I had to wear one of those weird braces for
- 1:01:21Speaker 20: most of the year and herd for the first couple
- 1:01:26Speaker 20: of games, and then it just kind of went away.
- 1:01:28Speaker 20: So and then after the season we went and saw
- 1:01:32Speaker 20: the doctor and he's like, this thing's been torn a
- 1:01:34Speaker 20: long time.
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: Oh so you didn't realize it until we didn't.
- 1:01:37Speaker 20: Know it was fully torn. It's one of those doctors
- 1:01:40Speaker 20: just kind of shook it around and said, well, what
- 1:01:43Speaker 20: do you think. And I was like, well, let me
- 1:01:44Speaker 20: give it a shot this week at practice and he's
- 1:01:47Speaker 20: like all right. And then I got through drills, I
- 1:01:51Speaker 20: was like, we'll just go with it. He's like, all right, well,
- 1:01:54Speaker 20: we need to get it checked out later.
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: So see, people think that sometimes you overstate just how
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: matter of fact people are about things. This is logan making.
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: This is how he was in the locker room after games.
- 1:02:07Speaker 4: He would talk about, you know, the game plan and
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: what they did well, and it was the same level
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: of intensity and just matter of fact everything. Yeah, well
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: you know, what do you think? Yeah, well, I can
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: give it a shout at practice. I can see if
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: I could play. He had a twenty cl right, and
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: it's like it's his job. There's no big deal. I'm
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: just going to go out and get the job done.
- 1:02:26Speaker 19: Do you get embarrassed when you hear that logan? Like
- 1:02:28Speaker 19: people like Paul and I want to keep praise on
- 1:02:33Speaker 19: you for that. You're an offensive lineman. You probably don't
- 1:02:35Speaker 19: give a sugar about Like, yeah, that's what I was
- 1:02:37Speaker 19: supposed to do.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: Well.
- 1:02:39Speaker 20: Everyone loves to be praised, but I do get embarrassed
- 1:02:42Speaker 20: when it's in front of me.
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: I'd rather.
- 1:02:46Speaker 4: Embarrass you, believe me. And I'm not like you know,
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: I've been. I've been Matt and I have been here
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: for over twenty years. So it's like, you know, it's
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: not like the wide eyed Chris Farley on Saday Night Live,
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: like that was awesome. You know, I'm not in awe,
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: you know, but but that's an awesome and are inspiring.
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: That's season.
- 1:03:05Speaker 19: Most people, sadly today at work have the sniffles and
- 1:03:10Speaker 19: they're down for three days, do you know what I mean?
- 1:03:12Speaker 19: And so when somebody says no, it's important to go
- 1:03:16Speaker 19: to work and I might not be feeling one hundred percent,
- 1:03:20Speaker 19: but I still think I can do my job. Yeah,
- 1:03:24Speaker 19: it's that's different.
- 1:03:27Speaker 5: Yeah, that's well.
- 1:03:28Speaker 20: I think people used to ask me why I did it,
- 1:03:30Speaker 20: and I was like, well, my dad always said, if
- 1:03:32Speaker 20: you can go to work, you go to work. And
- 1:03:35Speaker 20: he always joked to just tape an aspirinto it and
- 1:03:38Speaker 20: you'll be all right.
- 1:03:40Speaker 17: Did you try it?
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: But it was it was fine.
- 1:03:44Speaker 20: It hurt for a while and then it went away,
- 1:03:46Speaker 20: and then it's just uh.
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: I really noticed it.
- 1:03:50Speaker 20: As the season went on, there was no more squatting
- 1:03:52Speaker 20: in the weight room, like that stuff was not happening anymore.
- 1:03:55Speaker 20: Or if you like tried to walk down an incline,
- 1:03:58Speaker 20: you could feel your knee slideing it. So thankfully the
- 1:04:01Speaker 20: football fields aren't inclined.
- 1:04:03Speaker 4: I think you know, your league is filled with really,
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: really tough players, and like, I mean, I see what
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: you guys go through. I remember the other Algie Crumpler
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: was here. I don't know if you guys crossed. I
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: forget the timeline, but what he went through to play
- 1:04:17Speaker 4: every week was ridiculous and you could see the toughness.
- 1:04:20Speaker 4: But I think a lot of people in your situation,
- 1:04:23Speaker 4: Logan would have said, this is my career. I have
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: a finite amount of time to earn money, and if
- 1:04:29Speaker 4: I play in a torn a cl it might affect
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: my performance, it could affect my salary. Down the loop,
- 1:04:33Speaker 4: they're gonna probably look to, you know, maybe take a
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: haircut next year or if I'm going to be a
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: free agent. But yet you put all that aside and
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: just said, no, I have a job to do and
- 1:04:43Speaker 4: I'm going to go out and do it.
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: Well, I was fortunate.
- 1:04:45Speaker 20: I just signed a big contract.
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: And then.
- 1:04:51Speaker 20: Guys around the league that would get this big deal
- 1:04:55Speaker 20: and then they would get hurt, and.
- 1:04:57Speaker 4: I was like, this is what people do, and those
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: guys are tough to I'm in our locker room.
- 1:05:01Speaker 20: I would make fun of guys like that, and so
- 1:05:04Speaker 20: then I'm possibly hurt, not one hundred percent knowing if
- 1:05:08Speaker 20: I'm heard or not. And I'm like, well, I don't
- 1:05:10Speaker 20: want to be that guy that I've been ragging on
- 1:05:13Speaker 20: for my whole.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: Career already, right, you don't want to be a fraud? Yeah?
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: Right?
- 1:05:16Speaker 20: And up until that point, I what was that my
- 1:05:19Speaker 20: sixth year, I'd never missed a practice or game. So
- 1:05:23Speaker 20: I was like, I can't I can't start getting hurt now.
- 1:05:26Speaker 20: Then I did get a few practices off that year.
- 1:05:28Speaker 4: So then nice a bill.
- 1:05:31Speaker 18: And now great moments in.
- 1:05:35Speaker 5: History.
- 1:05:36Speaker 6: Oh, I got what's the bad guy? What's the mat
- 1:05:40Speaker 6: a guy?
- 1:05:40Speaker 10: Twice this week. I'm mad at my kid. I'm mad
- 1:05:42Speaker 10: at myself kid, more than I'm master. Is not what
- 1:05:46Speaker 10: I usually do, because I've learned over the years. Ninety five.
- 1:05:50Speaker 10: Even though it's a short distance from two ninety five
- 1:05:53Speaker 10: to four ninety five, that little stretch there, it's usually
- 1:05:56Speaker 10: where all the messes happen. So I've learned, get get
- 1:06:01Speaker 10: off at the Emerald Square exit at two ninety five,
- 1:06:03Speaker 10: which is Root one, and just take Root one all
- 1:06:06Speaker 10: the way up here. Never any problems. Ever today today
- 1:06:11Speaker 10: I was like, you know what, it's the middle, it's
- 1:06:13Speaker 10: the late morning. It should be fine. It could happen.
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: It's supposed to be one of the busiest traffic happened,
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: you know in recent memories, so Eric said, So I said,
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: only there's traffic.
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: But today I'm going to roll the at rush hour.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: There's usually traffic.
- 1:06:25Speaker 10: So I'm like, oh, it's it's quarter of eleven in
- 1:06:27Speaker 10: the morning. What could possibly go wrong? Well, some jackass
- 1:06:30Speaker 10: drove into the median there.
- 1:06:32Speaker 4: And the newest bread er jackknife on the Santa Anna.
- 1:06:35Speaker 10: His his car is like stuck in trees in the
- 1:06:38Speaker 10: meeting an awful mess, and there's like I'm stuck in
- 1:06:41Speaker 10: traffic and there are literally people like trying to get
- 1:06:45Speaker 10: through on the breakdown lanes to try to get by,
- 1:06:47Speaker 10: and all of a sudden, your hand, all the sirens
- 1:06:50Speaker 10: are coming. There's cop after cop and then fire truck
- 1:06:53Speaker 10: after fire truck, rescue squad. By the time we got
- 1:06:56Speaker 10: up to the accident, there were a half dozen fire
- 1:07:01Speaker 10: trucks blocking the passing lane because the sky literally there's
- 1:07:05Speaker 10: like you know how some of the medians have like
- 1:07:07Speaker 10: they dip down, but there's like vegetation and trees and stuff.
- 1:07:11Speaker 6: This guy drove his car into.
- 1:07:13Speaker 5: The trees about five minutes later.
- 1:07:17Speaker 10: And then earlier this week we had that thing down
- 1:07:18Speaker 10: in one our webmaster got stuck in it too. It
- 1:07:22Speaker 10: was Monday or Tuesday.
- 1:07:24Speaker 4: Yeah, well, hey, how'll we going traffic on the threes.
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: That's another great moment from all right back here on
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: Patriots on Filterday. Five to five past five hundred is
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: the Hotline podcast at Patriots dot com. Is the email
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: address you like that? I like Matt making fun of
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: Eric traffic talk. We all have it in common weather
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: traffic story, Hansle.
- 1:07:50Speaker 6: Of the Chop. You know, I don't think I could
- 1:07:55Speaker 6: have worked with Eric too much non football talk.
- 1:08:01Speaker 5: You guys have no use for each other.
- 1:08:02Speaker 6: Yeah, I couldn't.
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: In terms of like how two people would approach the
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: same job, I can't think of two people more diametrically opposed.
- 1:08:12Speaker 6: I'm going to take that as a compliment.
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: Yeah you should.
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: I mean Eric hated it here. You actually like football.
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: Eric wrote a good feature Wilid writer. Eric could solid
- 1:08:25Speaker 4: down and talk to a player and write a really
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: good story about that player.
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: Absolutely, no, it would take two months.
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: It's their point. There's a seventh senterpoint. But he would
- 1:08:36Speaker 4: not necessarily want to do like like because he.
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: Used to do the like the review, the bridgetone review.
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: He used to used to do that, but he wouldn't
- 1:08:44Speaker 4: do it anywhere near now as in depth as Evan.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: No, no no interest in that, all right again A
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: five to five past five hundred is the Hotline podcast
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: at patries dot com. Is the email address, and you
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: can sign up for the newsletter by going to Patriots
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: dot com slash pu newsletter and you want to do that.
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: It's a lot of fun. We're trying to convince Deuce
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: to get a dog this week.
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: So the letter it is not going well.
- 1:09:12Speaker 5: We'll see, we'll see.
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: All right, Let's get back to the phone. Really stacked
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: Patty's inn Agawa. What's up Patty.
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: Going on?
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: Hey?
- 1:09:22Speaker 11: Hey, So I just want to say I'm one Paul's camp.
- 1:09:27Speaker 11: I would trade the fourth overall picks for a J. Brown.
- 1:09:31Speaker 11: I'm not I'm not sure if he's listening, but maybe
- 1:09:35Speaker 11: oh man, Miguel can help me out. I think they're
- 1:09:37Speaker 11: I think I read somewhere that if they trade him,
- 1:09:41Speaker 11: or if they move on from him, like outright release
- 1:09:43Speaker 11: him before June first, I think they're they're on the
- 1:09:46Speaker 11: hook for like some crazy fifty million dollars or something
- 1:09:50Speaker 11: like that of dead cat money. So I don't think.
- 1:09:53Speaker 11: I don't think they'd be willing to part ways with
- 1:09:56Speaker 11: him for the fourth overall pick. But I mean, if
- 1:09:58Speaker 11: the option was out there, I would do it. And
- 1:10:01Speaker 11: to kind of piggyback off of what Ian said, I
- 1:10:05Speaker 11: you know Brian Daball and I don't know the Giants
- 1:10:09Speaker 11: CM's name, but there their jobs are on the line here, Bro,
- 1:10:12Speaker 11: I don't I'm not sure if they look at what
- 1:10:14Speaker 11: happened last year in New York with the Jets and
- 1:10:17Speaker 11: how volatile of a player and personality that Aaron Rodgers is,
- 1:10:21Speaker 11: that they would want to bring him in. And to me,
- 1:10:24Speaker 11: maybe maybe I'm just just throwing it out there and
- 1:10:29Speaker 11: to the ether, but I don't think they're gonna want
- 1:10:31Speaker 11: to choose Aaron Rodgers the quarterback their team next year,
- 1:10:34Speaker 11: and I could definitely see them going with Shadora, And.
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: I think it's the opposite. I think because they're so
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: desperate to save their jobs, they need to win games now.
- 1:10:42Speaker 4: And I'm not telling you they're gonna win games with
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: Aaron Rodgers, but they're not gonna win games with Shedeah Sanders.
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: There's at least a chance that Aaron Rodgers has an
- 1:10:51Speaker 4: attack of conscience and decides to prepare for an NFL
- 1:10:53Speaker 4: season and it actually puts his best foot forward and
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: tries to help the Giants win games. Hideau Sanders is
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: not going to be ready yet to do that, So
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: I think it's the opposite. I think if you were
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: a team that was a little bit more comfortable in
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: that spot, you know, like the Raiders just made a
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: coaching change, if the Raiders were picking third. They just
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: made a coaching change. Let's say they didn't, they didn't
- 1:11:17Speaker 4: do the Gino Smith thing. They'd be more apt to
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: go with Sidors Sanders because there's no urgent. They're not
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: going to get fired in year one. Yeah, you know,
- 1:11:25Speaker 4: unless it really goes sideways on them, they could afford
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: to do that. I think the urgency for Dabo and
- 1:11:31Speaker 4: Shane right now is we got to find a way
- 1:11:33Speaker 4: to win some games.
- 1:11:34Speaker 6: I can't believe change, Like I can't believe he survived,
- 1:11:38Speaker 6: right to use those words carefully, but I can't believe
- 1:11:41Speaker 6: that he's.
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: I mean, the Giants might be the single reason why
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: no team wanted to do the offseason hard notch.
- 1:11:47Speaker 6: I mean, and it's not just Sakwon Barkley, like his
- 1:11:50Speaker 6: kid telling him to draft Jayden Daniels and him like
- 1:11:52Speaker 6: laughing it off, and then seeing what happened with Jayden Daniels,
- 1:11:56Speaker 6: Like the look on his face at the podium at
- 1:12:00Speaker 6: the Combine was just.
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: Like, I know, first question out of the gate, and
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: you had to know what was coming.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: Yeah, speaking of I know, I know, I know we're
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: coming up on another weekend without football, So why not

- 1:12:58Speaker 2: Plan your revolutionary weekend at Massachusetts two fifty dot org.
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: That's Massachusetts two five zero dot org.
- 1:13:07Speaker 5: So there you go.
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: Yep. League year starts Wednesday.
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: Right Wednesday at four.
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: Wednesday at four, I got my haircut, you're right ready
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: for it? Went to Ga barbershop down the street here
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: in Foxborough. Make sure I'm ready to go for the
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: opening of the league year. So ready to read the
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: league has been open for well, yeah, negotiations officially that
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: all the contracts start.
- 1:13:33Speaker 6: I think we should just like send the negotiation period
- 1:13:36Speaker 6: starts in Indianapolis at the Combine, and then like we
- 1:13:39Speaker 6: just do this whole this whole song and dance.
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: It's okay, yep, uh back to the phones, Willams and film.
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: What's up? Willem?
- 1:13:48Speaker 15: Hey, how you doing good?
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: You're gonna send us your picture so that we can
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: get it into the UH guess the listener contest?
- 1:13:56Speaker 15: Sure, tell me to just just tell me what I
- 1:13:58Speaker 15: need to do.
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: Just email our picture, your picture of the podcast at
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: patriots dot com. You're one of our regular callers, so
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: you're eligible.
- 1:14:06Speaker 15: Yeah, you've got no problem.
- 1:14:08Speaker 9: Okay, Okay, where do I begin?
- 1:14:11Speaker 15: Well, first of all, I'll say in terms of what
- 1:14:14Speaker 15: they what the Patriots have done and previously, that's how
- 1:14:17Speaker 15: you do it. That's well, that's somewhat how you do it.
- 1:14:21Speaker 15: That's better than last year. Oh merg that's way better.
- 1:14:24Speaker 15: And I have nothing too much to say about that.
- 1:14:28Speaker 15: But you still have to take care of that tackle
- 1:14:30Speaker 15: and that wide receiver position, I mean mac Hollands. Okay,
- 1:14:35Speaker 15: you know, but I'm not impressed, not by that, no, no,
- 1:14:40Speaker 15: But I want to talk about something about parts with
- 1:14:44Speaker 15: UH with Douce and then something with Evan real fast,
- 1:14:46Speaker 15: and then I'm out, y'all we uh, dude, you say,
- 1:14:50Speaker 15: I'm always with you, build through the draft, mister Craft
- 1:14:53Speaker 15: even instead of hisself, build through the draft, build to
- 1:14:56Speaker 15: the draft. But I just want to put this out
- 1:14:58Speaker 15: there for you. Okay, two years of a rebuild, seven
- 1:15:02Speaker 15: years of bad draft. We don't even we don't need
- 1:15:05Speaker 15: to go into who why, that's why that happened. But
- 1:15:10Speaker 15: this team has not proven as far as I can
- 1:15:14Speaker 15: even remember, basically that they can build a receiver. Forget
- 1:15:16Speaker 15: Julian of them because they took him a minute, so
- 1:15:18Speaker 15: I'm not put him out the way. But can you
- 1:15:23Speaker 15: actually say if they draft two receivers from this draft.
- 1:15:27Speaker 15: I can name a couple of names, but I'm going
- 1:15:29Speaker 15: to that. Just do you think they can build a receiver?
- 1:15:35Speaker 15: You know what I mean? Since they can't, they can't.
- 1:15:37Speaker 15: Evidently they can't bring one in. They don't want to
- 1:15:40Speaker 15: come here. We already know why on top of it,
- 1:15:43Speaker 15: and you don't want to get into a bidding war
- 1:15:45Speaker 15: trying to get a receiver. So, like you said, build
- 1:15:48Speaker 15: through the draft. But my problem is with them, I'm
- 1:15:51Speaker 15: scared for them, for this team for seven years. I mean,
- 1:15:54Speaker 15: look how many receivers you passed on or even that
- 1:15:57Speaker 15: you tried to get it and you.
- 1:15:58Speaker 11: Couldn't even build them up.
- 1:16:00Speaker 15: So do you have do you feel like they.
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: Can do this? Well, here's the hope. I get what
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: you're saying, history is not good but right, But here's
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: the hope. When you say they haven't had good luck,
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: who are they? They is different now? They are different.
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: The assistant coach, the only I guess McDaniels is still
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: in the mix, but overall they is different. And if
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: you believe that Rabel's running the show, even Elliott Wolf
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: isn't the guy who would be possibly making this potential
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: pick of a wide receiver, it would be Rabel and
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: maybe Ryan Cowden. So that's my hope is that they
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: is different now. So let's see how these days do.
- 1:16:44Speaker 5: I hope so with Fred.
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: I hope with Fred's saying, But I think there's also
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: a lot of truth to what William's saying in that
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: Elliott Wolf was here last year and picked receivers, and
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: Josh has been here and you know, had struggles with
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: So I think that there's truth on both sides.
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: I just I try not to put too much weight
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: on what's happened in the past.
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: At some point they've got to just get lucky and
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: hit a receiver. But you're you're totally right, William. I
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: mean that's a huge part. And I you know, we
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: spent so much time chasing the number one. I just
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: want good, productive receivers that you know can fit in.
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: I agree, you know, I I I don't know.
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: You're You're totally right, though. We got to be pulling
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: our hair out trying to find one of these guys.
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: Seems like you should have just hit one randomly at
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: this point.
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: And then they draft Jakobe Myers and they got rid
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: of them, right, the.
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: Only guy who's did anything close evening being a solid player,
- 1:17:26Speaker 3: he just picked him up.
- 1:17:27Speaker 6: I mean, their best receivers over the last couple, you know,
- 1:17:30Speaker 6: half decade or Pop Douglass in the sixth round and
- 1:17:32Speaker 6: Jacoby Myers as an undrafted free agent. So that tells
- 1:17:35Speaker 6: you everything you need to know.
- 1:17:37Speaker 17: Yeah, but.
- 1:17:39Speaker 15: Dude, you know, I'm with you, you know, I mean
- 1:17:41Speaker 15: every year you always say when we get around this time,
- 1:17:43Speaker 15: you always say it. Please understand, I'm always with you.
- 1:17:46Speaker 15: Is just now mak Role is still there, man. I
- 1:17:50Speaker 15: don't believe in him. I don't think none of y'all
- 1:17:52Speaker 15: should now. I just but with Mark Raboo there and
- 1:17:57Speaker 15: a couple of people did, maybe this could be a
- 1:17:59Speaker 15: little differ. So just one more thing and I'm done now,
- 1:18:02Speaker 15: our kid Evan, you and Alex up here pumping that
- 1:18:06Speaker 15: DK metcalf right. That was pretty I would say. I say, okay,
- 1:18:13Speaker 15: I was with y'all with that, but I forgot to think.
- 1:18:15Speaker 9: About this with I.
- 1:18:16Speaker 15: DK didn't want to come me. I mean, you YouTube gentlemen.
- 1:18:19Speaker 15: I told y'all, y'all my favorites. You know what I mean,
- 1:18:21Speaker 15: y'all really are you and Alice? You know just y'all
- 1:18:24Speaker 15: talk about this for years about us trying to have
- 1:18:27Speaker 15: a receiver. I don't care who it was whatever, If
- 1:18:29Speaker 15: it's justin Jefferson, Rapids, Jamarsha, whoever. I didn't care. Even
- 1:18:33Speaker 15: when y'all did the YouTube thing y'all had at one time.
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: I'm just.
- 1:18:37Speaker 11: Do you do you think we can do it this time?
- 1:18:40Speaker 15: Like, oh, we're gonna wait till another year?
- 1:18:42Speaker 9: This this is what you're want?
- 1:18:43Speaker 15: When you and Alice gonna tell us one catch swing too,
- 1:18:45Speaker 15: y'all gonna tell us, well, we all wait, kick the
- 1:18:47Speaker 15: can and wait till next year and the draft. The
- 1:18:49Speaker 15: receiver cord gonna be better for next year. That's what
- 1:18:51Speaker 15: you're gonna tell me or.
- 1:18:53Speaker 6: Tell us no, I know, and and both of us
- 1:18:57Speaker 6: were pretty gung ho or just banging the table for
- 1:19:01Speaker 6: them to make that DK Metcalf trade. And as it
- 1:19:03Speaker 6: turns out, you know, they it went for a second
- 1:19:06Speaker 6: round pick. They had a higher second round pick to
- 1:19:08Speaker 6: offer to Seattle than Pittsburgh did, so you would think
- 1:19:12Speaker 6: that they had the better offer on the table. And
- 1:19:14Speaker 6: you know, that one was a tough one, that one
- 1:19:15Speaker 6: came across in both Alex and I were pretty bummed
- 1:19:18Speaker 6: about that for about ten minutes.
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: Yeah, but yeah, you know, yeah se DK Metcalf and said, yeah,
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:19:25Speaker 6: I mean that's a nice that's a nice story. To
- 1:19:27Speaker 6: stomach it a little bit better, I suppose is that
- 1:19:29Speaker 6: he just wasn't too interested in coming here. I that
- 1:19:32Speaker 6: contract is massive as well, so you know, you never
- 1:19:35Speaker 6: know what that sort of thing. But this is why
- 1:19:37Speaker 6: I said at the beginning of the show that I
- 1:19:39Speaker 6: think we're just getting to the point now where at
- 1:19:41Speaker 6: the top of the draft, not you know, it's yeah,
- 1:19:44Speaker 6: they've missed on Day two receivers, they've missed on you know,
- 1:19:47Speaker 6: Jalen Polk wasn't great his rookie year. But if you're
- 1:19:50Speaker 6: drafting a guy in the top ten, that's a different
- 1:19:52Speaker 6: level of talent than what you're getting.
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: It's possible that they put all their chips on Godwin
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: and that just fell through. Like they thought, there's no
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: way we're not we're going to get out bid and
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: they weren't. But they didn't count on god when just
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: turning down the money.
- 1:20:07Speaker 6: Yeah, it's definitely possible. I mean, I think I it's
- 1:20:11Speaker 6: a tough one because right they do have bodies that
- 1:20:14Speaker 6: wide receiver. But like my point being though, is like
- 1:20:18Speaker 6: how many of these guys are you really going to
- 1:20:20Speaker 6: have on the roster come Week one? And are you
- 1:20:23Speaker 6: going to completely take out the opportunity for a Polk,
- 1:20:27Speaker 6: a Baker, a Booty, you know, any of those guys
- 1:20:30Speaker 6: to have any sort of role on this team, Because
- 1:20:32Speaker 6: if you're signing Cooper Cup when he becomes a free
- 1:20:35Speaker 6: agent and drafting a receiver in the first round and
- 1:20:37Speaker 6: you signed Matt Collins, then like those guys are kind
- 1:20:41Speaker 6: of out right, you know, like that, and maybe that's
- 1:20:43Speaker 6: for the best. But I'm just saying, you know, that's
- 1:20:46Speaker 6: the other element of it too that I just come
- 1:20:48Speaker 6: back to, is you know, how many wide receiver two
- 1:20:51Speaker 6: through fives are you going to have on one roster?
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: Like you probably not in this case three slash four
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: through five. Sure, I don't think they have anybody even
- 1:20:59Speaker 4: worthy of.
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: But that's like the hard part is like, so what
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: do you do?
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: Do you just discard the three to fives that you
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: have and get some other three to fives and hope
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: that they may be developed into one and.
- 1:21:08Speaker 5: Twos, or do you you know?
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: I mean, I keep somebody numbers reminding myself that Josh
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: is the offensive coindner. I keep forgetting that, and I'm
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: kind of like just really intrigued by him looking at
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: this step chart, and what does he think? Does he
- 1:21:19Speaker 3: think there's nothing there? Does he think that I think
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: I can get something out of this guy? I mean,
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: obviously got some stuff out of Mac Collins, not going
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: to be I hope it's the.
- 1:21:26Speaker 4: Former, to be honest, you know, I hope he's looking
- 1:21:28Speaker 4: at and saying we need better than this. Not I
- 1:21:30Speaker 4: can get more out of these guys, But just how.
- 1:21:31Speaker 5: Do you execute it.
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: You know, like you have ten on the roster, you
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: can't cut six guys have to.
- 1:21:37Speaker 4: Happen today, right, But like I can. You know, they've
- 1:21:40Speaker 4: won four games the last two years, Mike, right, you know,
- 1:21:43Speaker 4: and I know that you're okay with that because you
- 1:21:46Speaker 4: used to hate winning twelve.
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: You're sick of those.
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: It's been a couple of weeks since I said that
- 1:21:51Speaker 4: to you. But we don't have to have it all
- 1:21:55Speaker 4: fixed all at once. But I would hope that Josh
- 1:21:58Speaker 4: doesn't look at this and say, coach these guys up.
- 1:22:00Speaker 4: I can get more out of this, like maybe one
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: to do what it is like, some guys will have
- 1:22:06Speaker 4: better number. Listen, it can't get any worse for jay
- 1:22:08Speaker 4: Von Baker and Jalen Poe, Right, if they're going to
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: be on the Patriots in twenty twenty five, can we
- 1:22:13Speaker 4: assume they're going to play better than they did last
- 1:22:15Speaker 4: year if they're here, if they play at all, if
- 1:22:17Speaker 4: they hear, they're going to do more than they did
- 1:22:19Speaker 4: last year. Right to Mario Douglas, chances are with Josh's offense,
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: if it's something like what he's done, it's gonna there's
- 1:22:29Speaker 4: gonna be some volume there for him. You know, Kendrick
- 1:22:33Speaker 4: Bourne had a decent year with him in twenty twenty one. Right,
- 1:22:36Speaker 4: So all of that said, if all of that happens,
- 1:22:40Speaker 4: I don't think they're good enough at that position, but
- 1:22:44Speaker 4: I do think he'll make it better. Josh will make
- 1:22:48Speaker 4: that that aspect of the passing game better.
- 1:22:50Speaker 6: Right, Like, No, I don't think anyone suggesting that they're
- 1:22:52Speaker 6: good enough. I just wonder there is there a line
- 1:22:56Speaker 6: between the Cooper Cups of the world that are kind
- 1:22:59Speaker 6: of on their last legs and trying to keep that
- 1:23:03Speaker 6: room a little bit younger.
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: Right, we'll push a young guy off the roster for
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: a j Brown? Are we willing to do that for
- 1:23:10Speaker 4: MATC Collins and Cooper Copp?
- 1:23:12Speaker 16: Right?
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: Right? Is you're basically your question.
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: Yea, Let's go to Boston where Chris is calling in
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: from What's up?
- 1:23:20Speaker 4: Chris? Chris?
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: Chris is no longer calling in from Boston, So we'll
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: head over to New York where Jeffrey is calling in.
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: What's up?
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: Jeffrey? Jeffrey going once twice three times.
- 1:23:40Speaker 4: That when we're talking about the you know, the depth
- 1:23:43Speaker 4: chart is and I would agree with you. I would
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: be hesitant. As much as I've been critical of Baker
- 1:23:48Speaker 4: and Polk, I'd be hesitant to just say, well, that's it.
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: They stank they you know, right. So, But I wonder
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: if it's like a Kendrick Bourne. You know, some of
- 1:23:58Speaker 4: the guys that have had a chance, you know, a
- 1:24:00Speaker 4: little bit to be more than they've shown to be
- 1:24:02Speaker 4: as NFL players. Maybe you take one of those guys
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: and say, well, Matt Collins has been more productive, more consistently,
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: he can push Kendrick Bourne off the roster. Maybe you
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: know what I mean.
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: But if you sign a Cooper Cup to me, Kendrick
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: Bourne is gone.
- 1:24:14Speaker 4: Yeah, but I think he might be gone anyway, Okay,
- 1:24:16Speaker 4: is what I'm saying.
- 1:24:17Speaker 6: I wonder if Kendrick Bourne has any sort of trade
- 1:24:20Speaker 6: value within the framework of a bigger trade Like not
- 1:24:24Speaker 6: necessarily we're going to.
- 1:24:25Speaker 4: Get an Action Brown for Kendrick, right, But I'm saying
- 1:24:29Speaker 4: if you're if you throw Milton in.
- 1:24:32Speaker 6: If you're a team like I thought that a team
- 1:24:34Speaker 6: like Seattle, if you had offered them thirty eight and
- 1:24:37Speaker 6: Kendrick Bourne for DK Metcalf, that might have been enticing
- 1:24:41Speaker 6: to them because it gives them an NFL.
- 1:24:42Speaker 4: Receiver to break A great point was that Alex. Did
- 1:24:45Speaker 4: Alex come up with that?
- 1:24:46Speaker 6: I'm sure because I know he was the DK Metcalf
- 1:24:51Speaker 6: he would have he would have traded four overall for
- 1:24:53Speaker 6: DK Metcalf. But uh, you know, like something like that.
- 1:24:56Speaker 6: I feel like, you know, let's talk about San Francisco again.
- 1:24:59Speaker 6: They or supposedly we're going to take Kendrick Bourne back
- 1:25:02Speaker 6: into Brandon Nyuk trade. It was two four and Kendrick
- 1:25:05Speaker 6: Bourne for Brandon Ayuk. Now, maybe you don't have to
- 1:25:08Speaker 6: give up all those picks anymore for Brandon Ayuk. But
- 1:25:11Speaker 6: can you do you give up a three in Kendrick
- 1:25:13Speaker 6: Bourne for Brandon Nayuk? You know, like I just wonder
- 1:25:15Speaker 6: if he has some value just because he is kind
- 1:25:19Speaker 6: of like a plug and play guy for a lot
- 1:25:20Speaker 6: of he's.
- 1:25:21Speaker 2: An NFL player.
- 1:25:22Speaker 6: Yeah right, you check anybody.
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: Yeah, he came free.
- 1:25:26Speaker 6: I can't believe that one. I know, I thought there's
- 1:25:29Speaker 6: no way Kyle.
- 1:25:30Speaker 4: Mister mister fullback, got rid of arguably the best fullback
- 1:25:34Speaker 4: of all time.
- 1:25:34Speaker 6: Yeah, I couldn't believe that.
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: I you know, look at him.
- 1:25:39Speaker 4: You're in sure, Patriots, I know, social the social crowd
- 1:25:43Speaker 4: is eager for that to happen because of missus shut.
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: I still want Yakub Johnson, but I'll take you check.
- 1:25:48Speaker 5: Double full back offense.
- 1:25:50Speaker 4: If we're going to have a fullback. That's my style
- 1:25:52Speaker 4: of fullback, a guy who can make plays, not just
- 1:25:55Speaker 4: be a battering ram.
- 1:25:56Speaker 6: It concerns me that Kyle doesn't see him as a.
- 1:25:59Speaker 4: Buy, that Kyle doesn't see him the way I do,
- 1:26:05Speaker 4: that he doesn't if he like.
- 1:26:07Speaker 6: Kyle Shannon, no debo know him.
- 1:26:09Speaker 5: Those are big people.
- 1:26:10Speaker 6: Kyle used Check as Kyle Shanahan is like getting rid
- 1:26:12Speaker 6: of his son. So like the fact that he's telling
- 1:26:15Speaker 6: you that he might not have anything left is concerning.
- 1:26:18Speaker 6: If I was a team that was.
- 1:26:19Speaker 3: You're a transition for saying for the school a little bit.
- 1:26:21Speaker 4: Yeah, it's gonna pay the quarterbacks.
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: Eldred's in North Carolina? Hey Aldred?
- 1:26:31Speaker 4: Hey good?
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: Hey?
- 1:26:35Speaker 21: I got three rings? Three rings? Okay, DK metcalf s
- 1:26:40Speaker 21: trade what the rappaport?
- 1:26:43Speaker 9: Who was the team?
- 1:26:44Speaker 21: I did to offer the third and they would paid
- 1:26:46Speaker 21: d k DK. But get who that.
- 1:26:48Speaker 4: Team was.
- 1:26:51Speaker 21: And he got fitted by Pitchburg England.
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: Is that right?
- 1:26:55Speaker 21: Yes, sir stuck and rant that he did on Network
- 1:26:59Speaker 21: The stuck and rand is. Okay, have y'all been paying
- 1:27:02Speaker 21: attention what Chicago is doing with Williams Washington is doing
- 1:27:08Speaker 21: with Daniel Yeah, okay. They traded with Houston to get
- 1:27:16Speaker 21: a good tackle tunsle a future sucking a third this year,
- 1:27:20Speaker 21: third and a seventh and they get they get houston
- 1:27:24Speaker 21: sixth back this year. You wouldn't do that for Larry Thompson,
- 1:27:28Speaker 21: for you, for your quarterback.
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: No, No, I think I think as much as the
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: Commanders get compared to the Patriots, I think they're in
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: a better position to do what to.
- 1:27:37Speaker 21: Do because they were in the playoffs last year.
- 1:27:40Speaker 11: I understand that.
- 1:27:42Speaker 21: But what I'm saying is like they're doing everything to
- 1:27:45Speaker 21: support their young quarterback. I don't see then you gonna
- 1:27:47Speaker 21: doing that for the last two years. I just can't understand.
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: Wolf.
- 1:27:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, you know, I understand what you're saying,
- 1:27:53Speaker 4: and I do, like you know, from the outside. Uh,
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: Chicago has added three starting offensive linemen and this is
- 1:28:02Speaker 4: not a small statement. That was the worst offensive line
- 1:28:04Speaker 4: I've ever seen that day that they played the Patriots
- 1:28:07Speaker 4: last year. That was guys that had no ability to
- 1:28:09Speaker 4: even get in the way of anybody. The Patriot of
- 1:28:12Speaker 4: nine sacks that day. They had twenty eight all year,
- 1:28:14Speaker 4: they had nine of them that day. That was the
- 1:28:17Speaker 4: worst offensive line. That's part of my reasoning here, thank you.
- 1:28:23Speaker 4: They couldn't even block the gunner. That's the worst offensive
- 1:28:27Speaker 4: line performance I've ever and I just knock them out
- 1:28:30Speaker 4: it that's what I do. So I understand what Eldrid
- 1:28:33Speaker 4: is saying, like they signed now, I don't know if
- 1:28:37Speaker 4: that fixes it A three really good offensive line. I
- 1:28:40Speaker 4: like Joe Toney. I know that the guy that was
- 1:28:43Speaker 4: a disappointment with the Rams, Jonah Jackson, I think, played
- 1:28:48Speaker 4: for Dan Campbell in Detroit and played well in Detroit.
- 1:28:50Speaker 4: He had an injury played year for the Rams last year,
- 1:28:53Speaker 4: So I think those those moves makes sense. And then
- 1:28:55Speaker 4: they signed the center of day Dolmond.
- 1:28:59Speaker 5: I like that.
- 1:29:00Speaker 4: I wonder if and I just saw the graphic come
- 1:29:03Speaker 4: up on my show as Freddy, I wonder if the
- 1:29:06Speaker 4: Patriots are still having a hard time getting offensive talent
- 1:29:10Speaker 4: to come in. You know, Vrabel's a defensive guy. He
- 1:29:12Speaker 4: was able to sign some defensive guys that he personally
- 1:29:16Speaker 4: had connections to for the most part. You know, Milton
- 1:29:19Speaker 4: Williams maybe a little bit different, But I think we
- 1:29:23Speaker 4: all know how that one got done. But the other
- 1:29:26Speaker 4: ones are guys that sort of had some familiarity with
- 1:29:29Speaker 4: the Patriots coaching staff, but they haven't been able to
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: do that on offense.
- 1:29:33Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I think it's fair to look at the
- 1:29:35Speaker 6: Bears as a comparison to the defensive line. I think
- 1:29:38Speaker 6: Washington is in a much different spot than you are.
- 1:29:41Speaker 6: Washington was in the NFC Championship game last year.
- 1:29:43Speaker 4: They could afford to give up some of those picks
- 1:29:46Speaker 4: that I don't really think you could. Is that your point?
- 1:29:48Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I mean they can afford to give up
- 1:29:50Speaker 6: a half their draft for Laromie Tunzel. The Patriots cannot
- 1:29:53Speaker 6: afford to do that right now. But Chicago they went
- 1:29:56Speaker 6: about a little bit differently, like you said, with the
- 1:29:58Speaker 6: offensive lineman, and it will be interesting to see which
- 1:30:02Speaker 6: way ends up working out. You know, I think that
- 1:30:04Speaker 6: they're bold in similar positions.
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: Do you do you have any sense of why Houston
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: pulled the trigger on Tonsol? I mean that seems they're
- 1:30:10Speaker 3: going the opposite direction.
- 1:30:11Speaker 4: Had a very good year last year. They also traded
- 1:30:13Speaker 4: Kenyan Green today, so yeah, their offensive line was a
- 1:30:17Speaker 4: disgrace last year.
- 1:30:18Speaker 6: And a lot of people blamed it on on check Masons,
- 1:30:22Speaker 6: and they blamed it on the scheme. But they got
- 1:30:25Speaker 6: rid of slow again, they got rid of half the
- 1:30:27Speaker 6: offensive line.
- 1:30:28Speaker 4: So so I'll just use that as another example of
- 1:30:30Speaker 4: like you can be a playoff team and win games
- 1:30:34Speaker 4: with you know, less than the Eagles or the Lions
- 1:30:36Speaker 4: on the offensive line. Yeah, that was a terrible offensive
- 1:30:40Speaker 4: line and C. J. Stroud ran for his life behind.
- 1:30:42Speaker 4: Now they're trying to fix it, and they should be.
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: They got Prafston, Barrios, let's get let's get to some emails.
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: We'll get back to the phone right there. Ari from
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: the UK Rights and Ari, Fred and Paul, thanks for
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: the recommendation of There's Something About Mary. We watched it
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: for the first time this weekend. Wow, one of the
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: funniest movies I saw in the theater.
- 1:31:03Speaker 4: I would agree it's a very funny movie. But that's
- 1:31:06Speaker 4: on top of the beans fifteen years nineties.
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: A few questions I old one. Do you think Elliott
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: and the team looked at a player like Laramie Tunsel
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: and thought a trade could be possible? Are we or
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: are we only looking at free agents and not trying
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: to be creative when filling needs. As it's been reported,
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: we weren't interested in training for DK. Well, Eldre just
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: said we were.
- 1:31:33Speaker 6: There's some conflicting reports on that.
- 1:31:35Speaker 4: Can I just like we're an hour and a half in,
- 1:31:38Speaker 4: Like we are an hour and a half. You know me,
- 1:31:40Speaker 4: I'm generally pretty skeptical of those kinds of reports. Count
- 1:31:45Speaker 4: me in in the camp that is not necessarily buying
- 1:31:48Speaker 4: all of the reports about twenty more million offered here,
- 1:31:53Speaker 4: they had a better offer for DK there. I don't buy.
- 1:31:56Speaker 4: You need to get the guy you don't like. I
- 1:31:58Speaker 4: don't this whole thing about oh well he's stupid he
- 1:32:02Speaker 4: took twenty million dollars. I don't. Okay, I'm not a
- 1:32:06Speaker 4: big believer in those kinds of stories.
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: Well, I know last year, the Ayuk thing, I have
- 1:32:13Speaker 2: no doubt that they had a lot more money available
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: for him, and he literally did not want to pick
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: up the phone.
- 1:32:21Speaker 4: Yeah. No, the second part of that I know for
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: a fact. Yeah, I've had people that I trust tell me.
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: That they were fully prepared to give him more than
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: he got, you know, staying in San Francisco.
- 1:32:31Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it's true.
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: Second question from Eric A question for Evan, you mentioned
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: I think it was Cast twenty two that McDaniels may
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: want to bring in a full back, and we just
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: talked about Cole uh juice.
- 1:32:47Speaker 6: Say yeah, Like I said, it worries me that Shanahan
- 1:32:51Speaker 6: thinks he's cooked. If shannonan thinks he's cooked, he's cooked.
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:32:54Speaker 6: There's nobody that knows fullbacks better than that guy.
- 1:32:57Speaker 4: So no one that's lost more big games than that guy.
- 1:33:00Speaker 4: He says he's.
- 1:33:03Speaker 17: Shot.
- 1:33:05Speaker 4: So my problems, it bothers my problem.
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: My problem with Kyle is not the backwards hat. It's
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: the flat brim had flat brim hat, and he's too
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: old for that.
- 1:33:17Speaker 4: He scores too many points I know for these people.
- 1:33:20Speaker 4: Ask gaalxy of that was very Paul right there.
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: That was well done. You you you gotta put a
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: little curve.
- 1:33:26Speaker 6: In that offense. Just stop scoring. It's not cool.
- 1:33:31Speaker 5: We got to ask Alex about that that.
- 1:33:32Speaker 3: You know what's better, like the heavy.
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: Brim bend or the flat Definitely the heavy.
- 1:33:36Speaker 4: So I will say I've seen an unbelievable amount of
- 1:33:39Speaker 4: backwards hats lately now that it's like the thing that
- 1:33:42Speaker 4: you can't stop seeing now, can't stop noticing it. You
- 1:33:46Speaker 4: want to you know the name, Robbie. Oh you t
- 1:33:53Speaker 4: zos alb podium.
- 1:33:57Speaker 6: Yeah, very least pains at a desk.
- 1:33:59Speaker 4: He was a drafted He's a full back, has some
- 1:34:03Speaker 4: receiving ability, Paul.
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: For you guys, guys with one syllable last names tend
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: to be tougher. Yeah.
- 1:34:11Speaker 6: He played with Bill O'Brien at Alabama. Was very productive
- 1:34:13Speaker 6: in Bill O'Brien's offense when he was So if.
- 1:34:16Speaker 4: He has some versatility to his game, I'm all for it,
- 1:34:18Speaker 4: bring him in. I just don't want a sixth offensive
- 1:34:22Speaker 4: lineman playing in the backfield that does nothing for me.
- 1:34:25Speaker 3: What if I told you had a mullet and a
- 1:34:26Speaker 3: good I told you he's nice like you. I like
- 1:34:29Speaker 3: the handle little handlebars.
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: And football football, Robbie, is there any there is there
- 1:34:34Speaker 2: a player who was signed for someone else in free
- 1:34:36Speaker 2: agency that you wish we had signed instead of the
- 1:34:40Speaker 2: player we did. For example, Jamien Sherwood over Bobby Splaine.
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: I would have said that green Law over him, but
- 1:34:47Speaker 3: Greenlaw went to the Broncos.
- 1:34:48Speaker 4: And I mean, I think the Patriots got good players
- 1:34:53Speaker 4: like I don't know, maybe how about the San Francisco
- 1:34:59Speaker 4: tackle that Jalen Moore, who was kind of getting some
- 1:35:02Speaker 4: attention that Kansas City got.
- 1:35:03Speaker 6: Them, But that that to me is a perfect move
- 1:35:06Speaker 6: for Kansas City though, because they have a little bit
- 1:35:08Speaker 6: of margin for error.
- 1:35:09Speaker 4: If your Patriots doesn't work, they're not screwed.
- 1:35:11Speaker 6: Yeah, the Patriots are counting on left tackle that's started
- 1:35:14Speaker 6: twelve games over four years to be the answer. Left tackle.
- 1:35:18Speaker 6: That's a lot different than Kansas City.
- 1:35:20Speaker 2: Can you count in this conversation players who re signed
- 1:35:23Speaker 2: with their own team because I can. Yeah, it's a
- 1:35:26Speaker 2: left tackle, I.
- 1:35:26Speaker 4: Would have yeah, Higgs right, Yeah, I mean there's a
- 1:35:29Speaker 4: lot of those.
- 1:35:30Speaker 3: Yeah, Ron Ronald stan Ron, Ron Stanley mustache Ron.
- 1:35:35Speaker 2: Any news on how you guys are getting on with
- 1:35:37Speaker 2: the idea for the schedule release, any initial teasers. No,
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: we are getting on with it, but there are no teasers.
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: We don't tease that. And any news. If there's a
- 1:35:46Speaker 2: new jersey coming, no idea. I doubt it, right, I
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: don't know.
- 1:35:50Speaker 6: That's that's a youth thing.
- 1:35:52Speaker 2: I have no idea.
- 1:35:54Speaker 6: So if anybody would know, can't help you there.
- 1:35:56Speaker 4: If you don't know about the jerseys, you don't know,
- 1:35:59Speaker 4: don't show. I don't care about what's going on.
- 1:36:01Speaker 2: Curtis and Saint Louis. I feel like this was definitely
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: a productive day UH for free agency. Though they did
- 1:36:08Speaker 2: not land a w R one or starting left tackle,
- 1:36:11Speaker 2: I believe they reportedly signed some significant improvements to this roster.
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: I'm still hopeful for Cam Robinson signing to go into
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: the draft with at least the starting option at left tackle.
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: Please don't mess around and try to move Moses to left.
- 1:36:24Speaker 2: I'd also like to see another addition at receiver, like
- 1:36:27Speaker 2: Amari Cooper. I do feel he still has some decent
- 1:36:31Speaker 2: ball left in him, and I feel like you can
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: get him on a fairly affordable deal. Clearly it's way
- 1:36:35Speaker 2: too early, but overall, with what we have, i'd give
- 1:36:39Speaker 2: it a B minus at this point, I.
- 1:36:41Speaker 6: Think that's probably fair. I would say a solid B.
- 1:36:45Speaker 5: That's what we achieve in free agency.
- 1:36:47Speaker 4: I don't want, you know, I like a Mari Cooper
- 1:36:50Speaker 4: as a player. They just need more than that at
- 1:36:52Speaker 4: this stage. I think he probably can contribute to a
- 1:36:55Speaker 4: good team, but I wouldn't want to bring him in
- 1:36:57Speaker 4: and then have, oh, now we have the guy and
- 1:37:00Speaker 4: he's not the guy anymore, you know, so they.
- 1:37:02Speaker 6: Might need to take a chance on one of those
- 1:37:05Speaker 6: Steph digs Steph Diggs, Amari Cooper.
- 1:37:07Speaker 4: Ras for your point.
- 1:37:10Speaker 6: Like one of those guys that are that's towards the
- 1:37:12Speaker 6: end to use Paul's parlance for wide receiver too, right,
- 1:37:18Speaker 6: Like you're not gonna make that your number one guy.
- 1:37:21Speaker 4: But I guess for your second option if you will,
- 1:37:23Speaker 4: if you you know, I think.
- 1:37:25Speaker 6: We are in agreement that they might not even have
- 1:37:28Speaker 6: They might not even have that. So if Amari Cooper
- 1:37:31Speaker 6: on his last leg can come in and for a
- 1:37:33Speaker 6: year or two, he is a nice compliment to Travis Hunter.
- 1:37:37Speaker 6: Ted McMillan. Name another wide receiver here, then maybe that
- 1:37:42Speaker 6: would work out.
- 1:37:44Speaker 2: Ryan and Toronto has a draft process question. Yeah, he
- 1:37:47Speaker 2: wants to know why. For example, the Patriots are drafting
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: with the fourth overall pick in the first round, and
- 1:37:54Speaker 2: then when you get to the second round, it's thirty
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: eight because it rotates, Hi, right, So why do they
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: rotate Because.
- 1:38:01Speaker 6: They finished with the same record, so it's they rotate
- 1:38:05Speaker 6: each round. So then they have the fifth overall pick
- 1:38:09Speaker 6: in the second round, I think, and then they'll go
- 1:38:11Speaker 6: back to having you know, whereever that is.
- 1:38:14Speaker 4: You know those math like the tiebreaker. Yeah, you know,
- 1:38:18Speaker 4: comes into play for the first round. But then whoever
- 1:38:22Speaker 4: loses the tiebreaker, we get to pick ahead of that.
- 1:38:25Speaker 6: Team, right, and then when we go to the third round,
- 1:38:26Speaker 6: it goes back to the first round order.
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: And then on a little listener on Listener Crime, Oh,
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: I love Voodoo's writes in please stop taking Eldred's calls.
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: His takes are ridiculously bad and it makes me want
- 1:38:38Speaker 2: to turn off the podcast. Seriously, it's so bad. Never
- 1:38:41Speaker 2: mind his trademark of pulling the horn every time. Every
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: time I hear the horn, I immediately sign sigh and say,
- 1:38:47Speaker 2: here we go. That's right, Eldad, you laugh.
- 1:38:53Speaker 4: I'm going to respectfully disagree with that lack.
- 1:38:56Speaker 5: I love BIGI especially with Crime.
- 1:39:00Speaker 3: Somehow always in like the conversation something he's been involved
- 1:39:03Speaker 3: in every call.
- 1:39:05Speaker 4: What if you're nineteen nineteen? Is that the year and
- 1:39:08Speaker 4: got drafted?
- 1:39:08Speaker 5: Yeah he was.
- 1:39:09Speaker 6: He must have been crushed.
- 1:39:11Speaker 5: Oh I know this guy was available. They didn't even care.
- 1:39:15Speaker 6: He was right there for the taking.
- 1:39:17Speaker 2: Okay, lots of oh aj from Lexington says, I can
- 1:39:22Speaker 2: attest to the truth behind Alex's backwards hat data. I
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: tried the backwards hat for the first time while out
- 1:39:28Speaker 2: for dinner with the family. The results speak for themselves.
- 1:39:31Speaker 2: Wink wink. Men don't ask questions, tell just try it.
- 1:39:36Speaker 6: There's a certain someone in our department that rocks the
- 1:39:39Speaker 6: backwards hat whenever I am with him, and.
- 1:39:41Speaker 2: It's women like the backwards hat. I guess it's the
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: only person I know that doesn't. Who'd have known?
- 1:39:48Speaker 4: No, I, like I said, I was aware of that.
- 1:39:50Speaker 4: And this goes back thirty plus years.
- 1:39:53Speaker 2: If you're over twenty two, I don't like it, you know,
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: Fred conn Out I was. I was a kid.
- 1:39:57Speaker 5: Tennis guys with the backwards hat.
- 1:39:59Speaker 2: I don't like it either.
- 1:40:00Speaker 4: There you know, they look like right, a hat in general,
- 1:40:06Speaker 4: the hat in general for tennis.
- 1:40:08Speaker 2: The hat in general, What does that mean?
- 1:40:09Speaker 4: The hat? Like if you had tennis players that wear
- 1:40:12Speaker 4: the hat protect from.
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: The if you're using it for a sun you know absolutely.
- 1:40:17Speaker 2: I wear it sometimes. You know it's hot out there.
- 1:40:19Speaker 2: Plus I got the big ball spot. That's what I
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: don't want to get.
- 1:40:22Speaker 4: I'm really outside baseball, so I wear the.
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: Hat sometimes when I play. But it was funny. I
- 1:40:28Speaker 2: was watching Djokovic the other day and they're playing at
- 1:40:31Speaker 2: Indian wells and the way the sun is there at
- 1:40:33Speaker 2: a certain time, it's really bad. So he had his
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: hat on, but he had the brim turns sideways. He
- 1:40:39Speaker 2: looked like a hip hop guy out there because he
- 1:40:42Speaker 2: was really upset about the sun. So he was trying
- 1:40:45Speaker 2: to get the brim just right. But there's a lot
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: of guys that play with the backward hat. I don't
- 1:40:51Speaker 2: like it because when you're serving and your head goes back,
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: the brim touches. I don't that bothers me.
- 1:40:56Speaker 6: I can see that.
- 1:40:57Speaker 2: Yeah, But then again, if you if you do want
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: like the sweat absorptions, some people don't like the look
- 1:41:03Speaker 2: of the sweat band It looks two seventies, So what
- 1:41:06Speaker 2: do you do? So then you have to go to
- 1:41:08Speaker 2: the handkerchief, to the bandana. Oh and they don't like
- 1:41:11Speaker 2: that either, so then they wear the backwards hat. You know,
- 1:41:14Speaker 2: Just do you like the wristbands and Jesus, yeah, I
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: bet so. There's a lot to it.
- 1:41:22Speaker 5: We could be here all day.
- 1:41:23Speaker 2: Yeah, as you can tell them into tennis.
- 1:41:26Speaker 4: All right, I guess see.
- 1:41:27Speaker 2: Let's go to the hotline. We'll go to Joe and Maine.
- 1:41:31Speaker 2: What's up Joe?
- 1:41:34Speaker 22: Hey, guys, First, time calling in thank you.
- 1:41:38Speaker 9: I like the like the show doing a great job.
- 1:41:40Speaker 22: I listened often. So my thing is, I like what
- 1:41:44Speaker 22: they did yesterday. I understand what they did, what they
- 1:41:48Speaker 22: got done, and then even what they couldn't do with
- 1:41:51Speaker 22: Godwin d k back Cup. I understand all that, and
- 1:41:54Speaker 22: I do think they're in a hard spot of getting
- 1:41:57Speaker 22: offensive players to come here. On the other hand, right now,
- 1:42:01Speaker 22: like obviously that's like the glaring need for the team
- 1:42:04Speaker 22: right like that offensive line needs help. Left tackle. I mean,
- 1:42:11Speaker 22: that's that's the big one. I think even before wide receiver,
- 1:42:14Speaker 22: but the wide receiver room two uh needs needs some
- 1:42:18Speaker 22: major help. I'm tired of having a bunch of like
- 1:42:21Speaker 22: three and four guys, and I think as a fan,
- 1:42:24Speaker 22: like we all want to see some explosiveness on the offense,
- 1:42:29Speaker 22: especially this thing and age.
- 1:42:30Speaker 21: In the NFL.
- 1:42:31Speaker 22: The way everything's going so so I am excited with
- 1:42:35Speaker 22: all the changes, brave, bawled all this that's happening. I
- 1:42:38Speaker 22: do like their's picks, but are there signings yesterday? But
- 1:42:43Speaker 22: like in the draft that this is my question, with
- 1:42:46Speaker 22: everything how it stands now, don't they have to use
- 1:42:51Speaker 22: that first at least the first two picks they're gonna
- 1:42:54Speaker 22: have to use it on offensive line, right on that
- 1:42:56Speaker 22: left tackle. So I guess I'm just what what do
- 1:43:02Speaker 22: you guys think on that?
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: I think I think if not Will Campbell, you've got
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: to take a guy in the second round.
- 1:43:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess, like I pick the best players.
- 1:43:11Speaker 6: I know, I know, but but I just don't know.
- 1:43:13Speaker 6: I guess I'm not saying that that the callers saying
- 1:43:16Speaker 6: that it's a problem, but like people, I feel like
- 1:43:18Speaker 6: people are acting like it's a problem, but like they
- 1:43:20Speaker 6: have a bunch of draft capital that they can use
- 1:43:23Speaker 6: on offense. So like what they did on defense yesterday,
- 1:43:27Speaker 6: to me, I feel like they they're pretty good on
- 1:43:29Speaker 6: defense at this point. Like I agree with Duce said earlier,
- 1:43:32Speaker 6: they could probably use one more edge rusher, you know,
- 1:43:35Speaker 6: especially a situational guy that can that can rush the passer.
- 1:43:38Speaker 6: But I don't see a whole lot of you know,
- 1:43:41Speaker 6: big holes on defense at this point.
- 1:43:44Speaker 4: And if one of Duce's guys from Georgia is the
- 1:43:46Speaker 4: best player they think, I think they should take him
- 1:43:49Speaker 4: at four, you know, Like I agree with you, Like, yes,
- 1:43:54Speaker 4: they need offensive linements. Again, they do not have to
- 1:43:56Speaker 4: get every single hole addressed. In year one or day one,
- 1:44:01Speaker 4: they get get good players. If you add good players
- 1:44:05Speaker 4: to your roster, you will improve and then you can
- 1:44:07Speaker 4: see the next time around. Okay, we were able to
- 1:44:10Speaker 4: go from four wins to eight wins, how do we
- 1:44:12Speaker 4: get from eight to twelve? Okay, we need a left tackle. Yep,
- 1:44:15Speaker 4: we got to go out at all costs. We got
- 1:44:17Speaker 4: to find a left tens.
- 1:44:18Speaker 2: Joe, appreciate the clay.
- 1:44:19Speaker 6: They will get the offensive lineman, Well, will they develop
- 1:44:22Speaker 6: them and will they turn into good players? Like that's
- 1:44:24Speaker 6: a that's the second part. But offensive lineman all all?
- 1:44:29Speaker 4: And this is not a shot at you. I'm it's
- 1:44:31Speaker 4: gonna sound like one all of you ball knowers. Yeah,
- 1:44:34Speaker 4: tell me that there is an absolute dearth of offensive
- 1:44:38Speaker 4: linemen in this league. Yet there's a lot of really
- 1:44:41Speaker 4: good teams in the league. Am I to understand that
- 1:44:44Speaker 4: the only ones that are any good have great offensive linemen?
- 1:44:48Speaker 4: Or maybe are there some good teams in the league
- 1:44:50Speaker 4: that do it without offensive lineman? Yes, Philly does it
- 1:44:53Speaker 4: with dominant offensive line, right, Kansas City doesn't. Detroit quarterback
- 1:45:00Speaker 4: of all time? No, no, no, This is what I'm
- 1:45:02Speaker 4: saying is like, you think you have a really good quarterback,
- 1:45:05Speaker 4: so Patrick Mahomes, No, I understand that, but why not
- 1:45:09Speaker 4: bolster your defense, get really good on that side of
- 1:45:11Speaker 4: the ball, get better, and then figure out how to
- 1:45:15Speaker 4: get the offensive line better. Like I'm not saying to
- 1:45:17Speaker 4: ignore the offensive line forever, but if Cam Robinson is
- 1:45:21Speaker 4: your best option, how much better is he than Verderian Lowe?
- 1:45:25Speaker 15: Right?
- 1:45:25Speaker 4: Right? He's probably better. He's he's a starting caliber left tackle,
- 1:45:30Speaker 4: and I'm not sure if Darian Lowe is. Last year
- 1:45:33Speaker 4: their numbers were scarily similar. So if they don't love
- 1:45:38Speaker 4: Cam Robinson, I get that. I get it. Maybe you
- 1:45:43Speaker 4: have to bite the bullet and go with a year
- 1:45:44Speaker 4: with Vaderian Lowe as your left tackle, or hope Cayden
- 1:45:47Speaker 4: Wallace can play left tackle. I don't think he can,
- 1:45:50Speaker 4: but you know, you might have to have a hole
- 1:45:53Speaker 4: on your roster in year one.
- 1:45:54Speaker 6: But I don't understand why they And I'm not saying
- 1:45:57Speaker 6: that it's going to be an exact like this is
- 1:45:59Speaker 6: a solution, no problems asked, But like, if they don't
- 1:46:03Speaker 6: go offensive line at four overall because they like one
- 1:46:05Speaker 6: of the defensive players at the top of the draft,
- 1:46:07Speaker 6: there's Josh Connery, there's Arianti Erstrie, There's Josh Simmons, Like,
- 1:46:11Speaker 6: there's other guys that play left.
- 1:46:13Speaker 4: Tackle, and I would be all for drafting one of
- 1:46:16Speaker 4: those guys, right, I would be one hundred percent on
- 1:46:18Speaker 4: one of those guys. I'm just not going to say
- 1:46:19Speaker 4: I'm gonna draft one of those guys and now I
- 1:46:21Speaker 4: fix my problem at left.
- 1:46:22Speaker 6: That's not what I'm saying.
- 1:46:23Speaker 4: But that's better than putting Vaderien Low back out there
- 1:46:26Speaker 4: or flipping I'm not I'm not convinced of that, oh
- 1:46:29Speaker 4: i am.
- 1:46:29Speaker 6: I'm or flipping Cayden Wallace if left.
- 1:46:33Speaker 4: If you draft a guy who can play and here
- 1:46:35Speaker 4: and he works out, then you've you've increased, You've improved
- 1:46:39Speaker 4: over Badarian Low. Just like if Carlton Davis ends up
- 1:46:43Speaker 4: playing better than Jonathan Jones, you've improved that second cornerback spot.
- 1:46:47Speaker 6: Listen, right, I find it hard to believe that if
- 1:46:49Speaker 6: they draft one of the top tackles in this upcoming class,
- 1:46:54Speaker 6: that that player is going to be worse than Low.
- 1:46:57Speaker 6: I would agree was probably the worst starting offensive lineman
- 1:47:00Speaker 6: and football.
- 1:47:02Speaker 4: I listen well, only talk by the guy on the right.
- 1:47:06Speaker 15: Talent.
- 1:47:06Speaker 2: Talent was a problem on the offensive line. It's been
- 1:47:09Speaker 2: a problem on the offensive line for this team. But
- 1:47:11Speaker 2: development is also as big a problem on this team,
- 1:47:15Speaker 2: and we've had this discussion. I am thoroughly convinced that
- 1:47:19Speaker 2: if you have five good players, you can have a
- 1:47:22Speaker 2: really good NFL offensive line, provided they have the right
- 1:47:26Speaker 2: type of guidance, right type of coaching. You don't need,
- 1:47:31Speaker 2: you know, Orlando Brown, necessarily, if you have five guys
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: who know how to play their positions, are working as
- 1:47:37Speaker 2: one unit, and you have a good coach coaching, but
- 1:47:40Speaker 2: you don't have to have the elite players. They don't
- 1:47:43Speaker 2: have that.
- 1:47:44Speaker 4: They don't have fun, they don't have that. But but
- 1:47:46Speaker 4: they're not like last year they had one.
- 1:47:48Speaker 2: But I don't think it's that crazy, Like it's not
- 1:47:51Speaker 2: a herculean task to get five adequate guys to play
- 1:47:56Speaker 2: offensive line in the NFL.
- 1:47:57Speaker 6: I wouldn't necessarily disagree with you, and I think that
- 1:47:59Speaker 6: they be able to do that in the top one
- 1:48:02Speaker 6: hundred of this draft.
- 1:48:03Speaker 2: I'd say with the with the offensive line leadership they
- 1:48:06Speaker 2: had in the last few years, if they had five
- 1:48:08Speaker 2: good guys, they wouldn't look as good as they should.
- 1:48:11Speaker 2: Maybe now they will.
- 1:48:13Speaker 4: Yeah, and just have just to close the book on
- 1:48:16Speaker 4: that talk, I would not be opposed to doing what
- 1:48:18Speaker 4: you said, like the second pick has got to be
- 1:48:21Speaker 4: you know, the Oregon guy, the Ohio State, one of those.
- 1:48:24Speaker 4: I'm just saying if I'm taking the third or fourth tackle,
- 1:48:29Speaker 4: I'm not necessarily just saying my problems are solved, but
- 1:48:33Speaker 4: I would absolutely do it. I think they need to,
- 1:48:35Speaker 4: they need to address it.
- 1:48:36Speaker 6: I just think I would much rather even if it's
- 1:48:39Speaker 6: ends up failing, yep, I would much rather throw Josh
- 1:48:41Speaker 6: Connerly out there on the hopes that we hit we've
- 1:48:44Speaker 6: found the need to the left tackle me too, then
- 1:48:46Speaker 6: have Darian low play another season at that spot, and.
- 1:48:49Speaker 4: I would be one thousand percent but agreement.
- 1:48:52Speaker 3: But all that said, listening to you guys, and I
- 1:48:53Speaker 3: totally hear what you're saying, Paul, do you still think
- 1:48:55Speaker 3: there's a chance that Vidarian Lowe is the starter as
- 1:48:58Speaker 3: we open Ota worried about that fact.
- 1:49:01Speaker 4: I think that's why I zero.
- 1:49:04Speaker 6: I think there's two things I feel pretty confident about. One,
- 1:49:07Speaker 6: they're not doing this left right right left nonsense anymore,
- 1:49:10Speaker 6: like you're either a right tackle or you're a left tackle.
- 1:49:12Speaker 6: And I think Morgan Moses is a right tackle. That's
- 1:49:15Speaker 6: a right tackle that they're going to play at right tackle.
- 1:49:17Speaker 6: I don't think Rabel is going to mess around with
- 1:49:19Speaker 6: with you, well, we're gonna take this right tackle and
- 1:49:21Speaker 6: we're actually gonna flip them over to the left side.
- 1:49:24Speaker 6: I don't think we're doing that anymore. And I don't
- 1:49:26Speaker 6: think Vaderien Low will be your starting left tackle.
- 1:49:29Speaker 21: Now.
- 1:49:29Speaker 6: It might be a rookie. It might be Will Campbell,
- 1:49:32Speaker 6: it might be arianta Ercrie, it might be Josh Connerly,
- 1:49:35Speaker 6: it might be whoever. But I don't think it will
- 1:49:37Speaker 6: be Vederien Low.
- 1:49:38Speaker 5: I don't think. I don't think it's a zero. I
- 1:49:40Speaker 5: don't think it's zero.
- 1:49:41Speaker 3: I mean, I wish I could say that, but I
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: don't know who the other guys even are.
- 1:49:45Speaker 4: I don't think it's I don't think it's zero that
- 1:49:47Speaker 4: someone else on the team already is the starting left tackle.
- 1:49:50Speaker 4: I don't know if if it's not Low, maybe it's
- 1:49:52Speaker 4: someone else that they like you, Maybe they like someone's development,
- 1:49:56Speaker 4: maybe Jacob's who knows.
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: But here's the thing, but I'm scared.
- 1:50:00Speaker 4: Of that, and I want Evans option over any of
- 1:50:03Speaker 4: those options. Second round slash trade up back up into
- 1:50:07Speaker 4: the bottom of the first round. Rookie is my better
- 1:50:10Speaker 4: option at let.
- 1:50:12Speaker 6: And it feels like they've given themselves the flexibility by
- 1:50:15Speaker 6: filling these holes on defense and free agency to maybe
- 1:50:18Speaker 6: trade up from thirty eight back into the back half
- 1:50:21Speaker 6: of the first round because they don't need that extra
- 1:50:23Speaker 6: pick as badly anymore to hit all the needs that
- 1:50:26Speaker 6: they have.
- 1:50:26Speaker 2: I mean, it's not as dire as people think it
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: is right now on the offensive line. So let's just
- 1:50:31Speaker 2: say Moses, I think it very much is Well, let's
- 1:50:34Speaker 2: just say Moses comes in at least for this year.
- 1:50:36Speaker 2: He's your right tackle and when you use your right guard, right.
- 1:50:40Speaker 2: I don't know what the deal is with Andrews, if
- 1:50:41Speaker 2: he's coming back or not, but if he does, he's
- 1:50:43Speaker 2: your center. If not, maybe Stephen kneels your center, right.
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: I think he probably could know Cole Strange. I mean,
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: what did I say, Stephen?
- 1:50:51Speaker 4: You know you speak you have three holes three holes on.
- 1:50:54Speaker 2: So Cole Strange said it, you have two holes.
- 1:50:56Speaker 4: Nore, you have three Strange not col Strange played last
- 1:50:59Speaker 4: year like he's not an answer, no, but he's a possibility, right.
- 1:51:03Speaker 2: What like he might be the answer at center? Interest
- 1:51:07Speaker 2: might be but he's.
- 1:51:08Speaker 4: A question mark. Yeah, and you have a question market
- 1:51:11Speaker 4: left guard, and you have a question market.
- 1:51:12Speaker 2: So you're three.
- 1:51:14Speaker 4: So you've answered. You've answered one question mark right now.
- 1:51:16Speaker 4: Two Well, when you was there, like.
- 1:51:19Speaker 2: Okay, when one year we need five guys, we've got
- 1:51:22Speaker 2: two sure things, we've got two short things.
- 1:51:25Speaker 4: I would agree, right, that's dire.
- 1:51:28Speaker 2: I think that's dire. I think cold strange.
- 1:51:31Speaker 4: We did this last year, and you made fun of
- 1:51:33Speaker 4: me just in this very spot last year. Yeah, and
- 1:51:36Speaker 4: I didn't throw it in your face all year, but
- 1:51:38Speaker 4: I will if you want me to. Okay, I couldn't
- 1:51:41Speaker 4: block because you can't just put anyone out there and
- 1:51:45Speaker 4: have that.
- 1:51:45Speaker 3: I know.
- 1:51:46Speaker 2: But I also don't think the coaching was that good.
- 1:51:49Speaker 2: But I think I think we'll figure out left guard.
- 1:51:53Speaker 6: We'll figure it out.
- 1:51:54Speaker 2: We'll figure out left I mean.
- 1:51:56Speaker 4: This is what they did last year. Someone will play, but.
- 1:51:59Speaker 2: They didn't have the person to help figure it out. Okay,
- 1:52:03Speaker 2: and he just figure it out with Anybody will find
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: the left tackle, either in the draft or through free agency,
- 1:52:09Speaker 2: or they're gonna address that.
- 1:52:12Speaker 4: I better than they addressed. My confidence is that they
- 1:52:15Speaker 4: will address it. Last year, they chose not to address it.
- 1:52:17Speaker 4: So I agree with you they will address it. Yeah,
- 1:52:20Speaker 4: that's why I haven't says zero percent.
- 1:52:23Speaker 6: They'll have a left tackle on the roster that they
- 1:52:26Speaker 6: drafted highly, I.
- 1:52:27Speaker 4: Feel, but that's a big difference. Here's what they have
- 1:52:30Speaker 4: right now.
- 1:52:31Speaker 2: Here's my prediction. Okay, by week seven, we will not
- 1:52:36Speaker 2: be talking about that. We will be satisfied with the
- 1:52:40Speaker 2: offensive line. We'll be like, Okay, it's good enough. We
- 1:52:42Speaker 2: can win games with this line.
- 1:52:44Speaker 4: If I so, you're you're projecting that they're going to
- 1:52:47Speaker 4: add three guys that aren't on the team right now,
- 1:52:50Speaker 4: then I'm.
- 1:52:51Speaker 2: Just saying that the play of the offensive line will
- 1:52:54Speaker 2: be convinced that it's fine.
- 1:52:57Speaker 4: I just think you're doing exactly what you did last year. Okay,
- 1:53:00Speaker 4: if you're just gonna close your eyes and say it's
- 1:53:02Speaker 4: gonna be like Elliott Will, you're gonna have to make
- 1:53:04Speaker 4: more worried about it.
- 1:53:05Speaker 2: I'm not just saying they're gonna have Vederian Lowett left tackle.
- 1:53:08Speaker 2: They're gonna have to make moves, but I'm confident they
- 1:53:11Speaker 2: know what a good offensive lineman looks like and they're
- 1:53:14Speaker 2: gonna coach him right.
- 1:53:15Speaker 4: I would.
- 1:53:15Speaker 6: I would feel a lot better if in the next
- 1:53:17Speaker 6: couple of days, Tevin Jenkins, Makai Becton, someone like that
- 1:53:23Speaker 6: is signed to play left guard, because if they have.
- 1:53:26Speaker 4: I would take McKay Beckton to play left tackle.
- 1:53:29Speaker 6: I wouldn't do that, but I would. But if he
- 1:53:31Speaker 6: comes in or maybe maybe it's Mkai Becton as left guard,
- 1:53:36Speaker 6: ideally left tackle if need be, and they draft a
- 1:53:40Speaker 6: left tackle they like and then maybe he kicks inside.
- 1:53:42Speaker 6: But if they add one more lineman that I that
- 1:53:45Speaker 6: is a starting caliber NFL offensive lineman, just like Morgan Moses.
- 1:53:49Speaker 6: They had one more of those guys, then I think
- 1:53:51Speaker 6: that were or.
- 1:53:52Speaker 4: If that happens. I'm with you, Fred, and I'm confident
- 1:53:55Speaker 4: they will. If you if you have answers, if you
- 1:53:58Speaker 4: have answers at three or four spots, you don't need
- 1:54:00Speaker 4: all five. You have answers that three or four, then
- 1:54:03Speaker 4: I don't think we'll be talking about it in session.
- 1:54:05Speaker 2: They're playing with, you know, continuity and cohesion and communication,
- 1:54:11Speaker 2: the three seeds. You can make it work. I know
- 1:54:13Speaker 2: you can make it work.
- 1:54:15Speaker 4: That's what they've told me for three years and they
- 1:54:17Speaker 4: haven't made it made it work. I'm just saying that,
- 1:54:19Speaker 4: and there's not just coaching.
- 1:54:21Speaker 2: Well, that's a big.
- 1:54:22Speaker 5: Part of that coaching is the fourth one fourth four.
- 1:54:26Speaker 4: Like you can't just make Demontre Jacobs and Darian Lowe's
- 1:54:29Speaker 4: starting tactis if they if they're not starting caliber.
- 1:54:33Speaker 5: Yeah, it's actually ten seasons.
- 1:54:35Speaker 6: Well it is what I know, running out of time.
- 1:54:37Speaker 4: But like what colossal.
- 1:54:39Speaker 6: Is, like col Strange and Leyden Robinson get thrown like,
- 1:54:42Speaker 6: oh we have they'll start at left guard.
- 1:54:44Speaker 4: This is my based off of what like what if
- 1:54:46Speaker 4: you can't just take guys and just say well, then
- 1:54:49Speaker 4: my start is they'll be fine. That's not going to happen. Like,
- 1:54:52Speaker 4: it's not I said this nine thousand times last year
- 1:54:56Speaker 4: every time we had to do the Bad List. I
- 1:54:58Speaker 4: felt bad about putting Demontre Jacobs. It's not his fault.
- 1:55:01Speaker 4: It's not his fault. He's trying to block like Nick
- 1:55:03Speaker 4: Bosa like that's not fair.
- 1:55:07Speaker 3: Yeah, it's good you told him that. You had that
- 1:55:08Speaker 3: moment with the two of you where he broke down
- 1:55:10Speaker 3: a little bits.
- 1:55:12Speaker 2: I just remember growing watching football on TV, and you
- 1:55:17Speaker 2: know you'd be watching it back then it was the
- 1:55:19Speaker 2: Giants every week, but whoever the teams were, there were
- 1:55:21Speaker 2: a lot of NFC teams and guys would go down
- 1:55:24Speaker 2: the offensive line and you know you're watching. I wonder
- 1:55:26Speaker 2: if that's going to affect the play. And because they
- 1:55:29Speaker 2: had a good system and good coaching, the guy that
- 1:55:32Speaker 2: the other guy would come in there be no problem.
- 1:55:34Speaker 4: That and the fact that they ran the ball every play,
- 1:55:37Speaker 4: so I don't have guys screaming off the air.
- 1:55:41Speaker 2: Luke writes in I'm not a huge Colorado football fan,
- 1:55:44Speaker 2: so there may just be something I'm not seeing, But
- 1:55:47Speaker 2: could someone please explain that Travis Hunter hype to me? Uh,
- 1:55:51Speaker 2: not at all saying he's a bad player by any stretch,
- 1:55:53Speaker 2: but aside from the athletic wow factor, which in my
- 1:55:56Speaker 2: opinion probably won't carry into the NFL, as he'll probably
- 1:55:59Speaker 2: primary be playing on one side of the ball, not both.
- 1:56:02Speaker 2: There are better wide receivers and Ted McMillan and Luther Burden,
- 1:56:05Speaker 2: and better quarterbacks and Will Johnson or even Ben Morrison
- 1:56:09Speaker 2: available that could do more on one side of the
- 1:56:11Speaker 2: ball than Hunter. Than Hunter could unless the team really
- 1:56:15Speaker 2: plans to give him significant snaps on both sides of
- 1:56:18Speaker 2: the ball, which seemed very far fetched to me. Second question,
- 1:56:22Speaker 2: does that seem far fetched to you? All huge, thanks
- 1:56:25Speaker 2: for the unfiltered crew. You'll make the commute go by.
- 1:56:28Speaker 5: In a flash.
- 1:56:29Speaker 2: So do you agree that you don't see the wow
- 1:56:32Speaker 2: and Travis Hunter Wow?
- 1:56:35Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't know. I don't know how to respond
- 1:56:37Speaker 6: to emails like that.
- 1:56:39Speaker 2: I think I think he's got that elite athleticism. He
- 1:56:43Speaker 2: just makes it look easy.
- 1:56:44Speaker 4: Yeah. I understand what his point is about, not being
- 1:56:46Speaker 4: sure how it translates because he I mean, he's right,
- 1:56:50Speaker 4: Like in college, there are guys that just have a
- 1:56:52Speaker 4: level of athleticism that exceeds anything they're playing against. Well with,
- 1:56:57Speaker 4: I think he has a special skill set he does
- 1:57:00Speaker 4: that you don't see every year.
- 1:57:02Speaker 5: Explosive.
- 1:57:02Speaker 2: We'll do two more calls. We're gonna have to make
- 1:57:04Speaker 2: them quick because we're up against it. Deshaun's in Virginia.
- 1:57:07Speaker 2: What's up to Shawn?
- 1:57:10Speaker 9: You gots doing? Basically, what I want to say is
- 1:57:15Speaker 9: like I will actually, I actually like the free agency
- 1:57:18Speaker 9: that the Patriers have had so far, because, like I said,
- 1:57:20Speaker 9: it allows them to pivot too much much more needs,
- 1:57:24Speaker 9: especially on the office side of the ball, because they
- 1:57:25Speaker 9: don't have to address the defense side of the.
- 1:57:27Speaker 21: Ball like that.
- 1:57:28Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:57:28Speaker 9: With that being said, so when people criticize about what
- 1:57:30Speaker 9: he's done in free agency. I don't understand why, because
- 1:57:33Speaker 9: if if I'm in I'm doing this draft, like if
- 1:57:37Speaker 9: I try to double dip on wide receiver, you know,
- 1:57:40Speaker 9: possibly take a tackle in the first round. Probably depends
- 1:57:45Speaker 9: on how things go. But I don't understand how people
- 1:57:48Speaker 9: actually want to criticize the show.
- 1:57:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I haven't heard a lot of criticism that just
- 1:57:53Speaker 4: people are just wondering where can they find improvement on offense? Yeah,
- 1:57:57Speaker 4: but I think people like what they've done on defense.
- 1:57:59Speaker 2: Welluntil they signed Milton, your show was ready to just
- 1:58:03Speaker 2: go right after them.
- 1:58:04Speaker 9: But I think it's unfortunate for like this draft because
- 1:58:07Speaker 9: like there's not a whole lot of options. I mean,
- 1:58:09Speaker 9: I was trying to get the receiver they want because
- 1:58:11Speaker 9: you try to do with some trade, which you know,
- 1:58:15Speaker 9: if you don't want to come here, he was trying
- 1:58:17Speaker 9: to drop one. But it feels like the past a
- 1:58:19Speaker 9: couple of drafts has to have its been any great receivers.
- 1:58:23Speaker 14: Yep, you can plug in, Yeah.
- 1:58:26Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:58:27Speaker 6: I mean the only here that really all right thanks
- 1:58:29Speaker 6: to show hit free agency was Godwin. And I don't
- 1:58:31Speaker 6: even think he really hit free agency that he.
- 1:58:33Speaker 4: Didn't, right, It seems like that the agency hasn't started
- 1:58:35Speaker 4: yet technically.
- 1:58:36Speaker 6: Well, I just mean he'd no, but you're right, he
- 1:58:39Speaker 6: didn't really.
- 1:58:40Speaker 4: Yeah, he didn't really.
- 1:58:41Speaker 6: Want to leave.
- 1:58:42Speaker 4: You know. I think I read with that as much
- 1:58:44Speaker 4: as I could have made them that. I disagree with
- 1:58:46Speaker 4: the whole twenty million million. I don't think he ever
- 1:58:49Speaker 4: wanted to leave Tampa. They said that at the combine.
- 1:58:51Speaker 2: Yeah, Kendall's in North Carolina. Hate Kendall.
- 1:58:55Speaker 9: Hey, I know Paul.
- 1:58:58Speaker 15: Mentioned earlier that we should be rooting.
- 1:59:01Speaker 9: To get Rogers. But if the Giants get Russell, would
- 1:59:05Speaker 9: they change your mind?
- 1:59:06Speaker 2: Oh?
- 1:59:07Speaker 4: That would be bad too, Yeah, that would be bad.
- 1:59:09Speaker 4: If the Giants get a veteran quarterback, that would be bad.
- 1:59:13Speaker 4: Any veteran quarterb They kind of have to though, right,
- 1:59:15Speaker 4: I think they do, But they're running out. I mean,
- 1:59:19Speaker 4: it's it's just it's Russell Wilson, it's Kirk Cousins could
- 1:59:24Speaker 4: potentially be available, and it's Aaron Rodgers, right, who else
- 1:59:27Speaker 4: missing fields is gone? So one of those three, if
- 1:59:31Speaker 4: the Giants were able to sign, I think that that
- 1:59:33Speaker 4: would eliminate them drafting Shoudua Sanders.
- 1:59:37Speaker 2: That would be bad.
- 1:59:40Speaker 9: If you're saying to Giant get.
- 1:59:44Speaker 4: I think so. I mean, Fred thinks that they still
- 1:59:46Speaker 4: might take a quarterback.
- 1:59:48Speaker 2: I don't see I have to start them at day one.
- 1:59:50Speaker 4: I don't see why you would waste your resources if
- 1:59:53Speaker 4: you're that desperate to save your job. Now you're drafting
- 1:59:55Speaker 4: a guy in the first round who could potentially help
- 1:59:58Speaker 4: you win games, and now you're drafting a backup quarterback
- 2:00:00Speaker 4: in the first round who's not going to help you
- 2:00:02Speaker 4: rid games. I don't think that makes sense.
- 2:00:04Speaker 6: Also, in that Shador Sanders is twenty four to twenty
- 2:00:08Speaker 6: five years old already because he's been in college for
- 2:00:10Speaker 6: five years. So like he's he's as ready as Kendall
- 2:00:14Speaker 6: be coming out of college, you know, like cam Ward's
- 2:00:16Speaker 6: like maybe a little bit more of the raw and
- 2:00:18Speaker 6: upside play. But in terms of Shador, I don't know
- 2:00:22Speaker 6: how much more pro ready you really.
- 2:00:24Speaker 4: They both played a lot of college football.
- 2:00:26Speaker 2: Though. Yeah, all right, that's gonna do it for this
