- 1:10Speaker 1: And then, of course, we'll also have Robbie Falk, and
- 1:14Speaker 1: we'll also have Brad Logan joining us as well. Let
- 1:17Speaker 1: me delete a couple of these out, and we'll go
- 1:20Speaker 1: up in here, and here we go. All right, so
- 1:23Speaker 1: we had a great weekend of college football, and we
- 1:26Speaker 1: were glad to watch– Some unbelievable games over the weekend.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Mississippi State with a big win this past weekend against Minnesota.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Props to Mississippi State. Props to Jeff Levy. Game balls.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Giving out game balls this week. Game balls go out
- 1:38Speaker 1: to Jeff Levy, Mississippi State, Kamario Taylor. Big win in
- 1:42Speaker 1: Minnesota this weekend. And I thought Mississippi State played mightily.
- 1:44Speaker 1: We'll visit with Robbie Falk coming up in about 25 minutes.
- 1:48Speaker 1: We'll visit with Robbie on Mississippi State. Mississippi State now
- 1:51Speaker 1: has to travel to South Carolina this coming up weekend.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Big ball game for Mississippi State taking on South Carolina.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Lenore Sellers. Saw a stat today. We talked about it
- 1:59Speaker 1: on the show, which I, my show on the radio,
- 2:02Speaker 1: the afternoon drive with Jake Wimberly. You can get in
- 2:04Speaker 1: and play, uh, there as well. Play with us on
- 2:07Speaker 1: the air three to six. We'll take your text, take
- 2:09Speaker 1: your calls, Mississippi state, travel to South Carolina. They are
- 2:13Speaker 1: two and 11, two and 11 against their last 13
- 2:17Speaker 1: opponents in the FBS. That's Shane Beamer's club. So, uh,
- 2:22Speaker 1: not a great show. And for Shane Beamer and the
- 2:24Speaker 1: South Carolina Gamecocks, they've got a lot of work to do. Um,
- 2:28Speaker 1: you know, as well. I'm trying to get Rob Brown in,
- 2:30Speaker 1: and it doesn't look like we will get him in
- 2:32Speaker 1: if he can't get on a computer. Let me just
- 2:36Speaker 1: tell him that he may have to come back on
- 2:40Speaker 1: Wednesday when we're here. He's trying to get in from
- 2:42Speaker 1: his phone. It's not working from his phone. So we'll
- 2:45Speaker 1: try to get Rob in here on Wednesday. All right,
- 2:48Speaker 1: let's keep going. All right, Mississippi State, big win over
- 2:50Speaker 1: the weekend for Jeff Levy. Big weekend for Kamario Taylor.
- 2:54Speaker 1: If we look at some of the plays, and we'll
- 2:57Speaker 1: try to pull some of that up as well as
- 2:59Speaker 1: we move along. Look, I thought Kamario Taylor played as
- 3:02Speaker 1: good as you could ask him to play over the weekend.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I thought Fluff Botwell was very good as well. And
- 3:06Speaker 1: when you look at Mississippi State, I said it early,
- 3:09Speaker 1: they needed to go 2-0 to begin the season to
- 3:15Speaker 1: get down the stretch. And when you look at Mississippi State,
- 3:19Speaker 1: they've done that. They're now 2-0 down. And you look
- 3:21Speaker 1: at their schedule, and let me pull that up, and
- 3:22Speaker 1: let's kind of break down the Mississippi State schedule if
- 3:26Speaker 1: we can real quick. Let me pull that up real quick,
- 3:35Speaker 1: and we'll look at Mississippi State's football schedule. To get
- 3:38Speaker 1: to a bowl, like what defines success for Mississippi State
- 3:41Speaker 1: this year when you look at Mississippi State? And let's see,
- 3:46Speaker 1: here we go. Let's go to hellstate.com. Let's jump in
- 3:49Speaker 1: on this schedule and let's talk a little bit about
- 3:52Speaker 1: Mississippi State's schedule real quick. Let me share my screen
- 3:56Speaker 1: and let's see here. Let me just take this scene
- 3:59Speaker 1: out of here. So Rob's not going to be able
- 4:01Speaker 1: to join us tonight. He was at a football convention
- 4:05Speaker 1: and he was trying to join us by phone tonight.
- 4:06Speaker 1: That's not happening, which is fine. We'll get him in
- 4:09Speaker 1: here on Wednesday. Let me see if I can do
- 4:12Speaker 1: this real quick. And let's see.
- 4:15Speaker 2: One, two, three.
- 4:16Speaker 3: All right.
- 4:16Speaker 1: It's not letting me do that either. So we'll get
- 4:18Speaker 1: this in here. Let me stop sharing it right there.
- 4:20Speaker 1: There we go.
- 4:21Speaker 2: All right.
- 4:21Speaker 1: A little technical difficulty. We're going to get it out
- 4:24Speaker 1: here in just a second. Let me share this real quick.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Let's look at Mississippi State's schedule for this year. What
- 4:29Speaker 1: defines success for Mississippi State, especially when you start talking
- 4:31Speaker 1: about going bowling? We'll look at Mississippi State's official page.
- 4:35Speaker 1: If you're going to get to six wins, what had
- 4:37Speaker 1: to happen? Well, you know, let's go to the middle
- 4:39Speaker 1: of this schedule first. When you go to the middle
- 4:41Speaker 1: of this schedule, starting right here, Alabama and Sarville on
- 4:45Speaker 1: October 3rd. LSU, and we will talk LSU Ole Miss tonight.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Brad Logan will join us. We'll get his take on
- 4:52Speaker 1: LSU and Ole Miss coming up a little later on
- 4:53Speaker 1: in the show. LSU down in Baton Rouge on October 17th.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Oklahoma on the 24th in Starville. Texas and Austin. Those
- 5:00Speaker 1: four weeks right there are brutal, brutal weeks for Mississippi State. So,
- 5:04Speaker 1: you know, at least coming into the year, you know
- 5:08Speaker 1: State's going to be an underdog in each one of
- 5:10Speaker 1: those weeks. So if they lost all four of those weeks,
- 5:12Speaker 1: you're 0-4 out the gate. 0-4 out the gate. So
- 5:15Speaker 1: you had to make hay early. So Mississippi State made
- 5:17Speaker 1: hay against Louisiana Monroe easily, 62-13. Minnesota, an out-of-conference game
- 5:24Speaker 1: you had to have. You got it easily, 38-13. So
- 5:27Speaker 1: you're 2-0. Now you've got two ballgames before you hit
- 5:30Speaker 1: that middle section, that middle four, shall we say, where
- 5:34Speaker 1: you've got South Carolina-Missouri. Now what would be great is
- 5:37Speaker 1: to split those games. You've got Missouri at home. That's
- 5:40Speaker 1: going to be a 7-30 or a 6-30 kick next
- 5:43Speaker 1: Saturday night. That was set earlier today in Star Bowl.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Missouri coming in, you would love to get one or
- 5:48Speaker 1: two of those. But if you could get both and
- 5:50Speaker 1: get to 4-0, then it really makes things look better
- 5:54Speaker 1: on the back end, and we'll get to the back
- 5:55Speaker 1: end of that schedule. So let's say State, who is
- 5:57Speaker 1: a three-and-a-half-point underdog against South Carolina coming up this weekend,
- 6:01Speaker 1: if they can get that win, then that gets you
- 6:05Speaker 1: to 3-0. Then Missouri, boy, you talk about setting up
- 6:08Speaker 1: a big game next week if you got to 4-0.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Bama is a team that, boy, I'll tell you what,
- 6:12Speaker 1: you would play a lot looser if you were 3-1
- 6:13Speaker 1: or 4-0 And, look, two and two is not bad,
- 6:17Speaker 1: but it's not where you want to be because you
- 6:19Speaker 1: don't want to be two and four if you lost
- 6:20Speaker 1: to four. So drop a comment on Facebook, by the way.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Drop a comment in on the chat if you want
- 6:27Speaker 1: to do that as well, and we'll try to get
- 6:29Speaker 1: to some of that. And let me pull that up
- 6:31Speaker 1: just in case. But if you beat those and you
- 6:34Speaker 1: get to Bama, that Bama game seems more manageable. LSU
- 6:37Speaker 1: is going to be tough to go win down in
- 6:38Speaker 1: Baton Rouge. Oklahoma, the way John Mateer in Oklahoma looked
- 6:41Speaker 1: this past week at Michigan, That game will at least,
- 6:43Speaker 1: I think, be in play. Oklahoma's still going to have
- 6:45Speaker 1: one of the best defenses in the country under Brent Venables,
- 6:48Speaker 1: but that'll still be in play. Texas on the road
- 6:51Speaker 1: is going to be tough. So let's just say, you know,
- 6:53Speaker 1: you lost all four. Vanderbilt definitely looks in play November
- 6:56Speaker 1: 7th at home. Auburn looks in play as well, and
- 7:00Speaker 1: Tennessee Tech. So if you got three or four and
- 7:02Speaker 1: you got the Tennessee Tech, you just need one or
- 7:04Speaker 1: two more to get to bowling. I know, obviously, you
- 7:06Speaker 1: want to be better than 6-6. You want to be
- 7:08Speaker 1: better than that schedule shows. But just to get bowling
- 7:12Speaker 1: for Jeff Levy and Kamario Taylor and that crew, that's
- 7:16Speaker 1: a big win. And then, of course, Ole Miss, we'll
- 7:18Speaker 1: see what Ole Miss looks like as well. Make sure
- 7:22Speaker 1: to hit us up on X. Make sure to get
- 7:24Speaker 1: in and play at MyBookie. Go to MyBookie.ag. Use the
- 7:26Speaker 1: promo code patio as we're going to stop sharing that
- 7:29Speaker 1: right quick. And, again, let me tell you the guest
- 7:31Speaker 1: lineup here in just a bit. I'm having a pivot
- 7:33Speaker 1: guest tonight, which is fine. And we had Rob Brown scheduled.
- 7:37Speaker 1: He was in an event. He will not be able
- 7:38Speaker 1: to join us tonight. We'll have Brad Logan coming up
- 7:40Speaker 1: here in about 25 minutes. We'll talk Ole Miss, LSU,
- 7:44Speaker 1: and the big, big weekend in Baton Rouge. And Robbie
- 7:47Speaker 1: Fox coming up here in about 15 minutes as we
- 7:51Speaker 1: get ready to go. All right, let's look at some
- 7:52Speaker 1: other notes and recap kind of what happened over the weekend. Again,
- 7:56Speaker 1: LSU and Ole Miss coming up this weekend. Boy, boy, boy,
- 8:01Speaker 1: I tell you what, there was some great thoughts today
- 8:04Speaker 1: on air about this matchup. When you look at Ole
- 8:06Speaker 1: Miss and you look at LSU, there's a couple of
- 8:08Speaker 1: things that come to mind and this let's pull this
- 8:10Speaker 1: up real quickly. These are the lines for the week
- 8:13Speaker 1: brought to you by sec, Mike. And of course, uh,
- 8:16Speaker 1: my bookie as well. When we look at some of
- 8:18Speaker 1: the lines and go through some of these games this weekend,
- 8:20Speaker 1: just to kind of share thoughts on what's coming up
- 8:23Speaker 1: this weekend.
- 8:24Speaker 3: All right.
- 8:24Speaker 1: First off, when you look at some of these lines,
- 8:27Speaker 1: sec football, courtesy of that sec podcast, Troy is taken
- 8:30Speaker 1: on Missouri, Missouri again. Uh, they're off to a fast start.
- 8:34Speaker 1: They'll be in Starkville next weekend. Troy is a, uh, 27.5-point
- 8:40Speaker 1: underdog on the road against Missouri. That total is at 50.5. Missouri, obviously,
- 8:45Speaker 1: they should win this game handily. 27.5 is a big line.
- 8:49Speaker 1: We'll have WIMS winners out coming up on Wednesday. This
- 8:52Speaker 1: will probably be one we will not touch. When you
- 8:54Speaker 1: look at Kennesaw State, who was a pretty big favorite
- 8:57Speaker 1: over the weekend against Georgia Southern, they got upset, and
- 8:59Speaker 1: they didn't just get upset. They got thumped. And that's
- 9:01Speaker 1: another thing, talking about this past weekend, with Oregon going down,
- 9:06Speaker 1: And so many upsets, again, through the first two weeks.
- 9:08Speaker 1: It's been carnage everywhere in college football. But Kennesaw State
- 9:11Speaker 1: goes down big. They're a 35-and-a-half-point underdog against Tennessee. Neyland Stadium,
- 9:17Speaker 1: 745 Eastern time kick, 645 Central time kick. Tennessee should
- 9:24Speaker 1: win that. And, again, that's not a game that you
- 9:26Speaker 1: would really want to play. LSU at Ole Miss. We'll
- 9:29Speaker 1: come back to that. Tigers are a three-and-a-half-point favorite. Totals
- 9:32Speaker 1: at 58-and-a-half. Florida takes on Auburn coming up this weekend.
- 9:36Speaker 1: This will be one of the better games. This is
- 9:37Speaker 1: going to be on ESPN coming up this Saturday night,
- 9:39Speaker 1: 6 o'clock kick, but it will be overshadowed mightily by
- 9:43Speaker 1: the Ole Miss-LSU game. Florida, two-and-a-half point favorite on the road.
- 9:48Speaker 1: I favor Florida in this game. I think Florida's a
- 9:50Speaker 1: little bit better than Auburn, but it will be fun
- 9:52Speaker 1: to watch Alex Golish. This is probably a touchdown ballgame,
- 9:55Speaker 1: probably under that 52-and-a-half number when you look at Florida
- 9:58Speaker 1: and Auburn. Mississippi State, South Carolina, we were talking about
- 10:01Speaker 1: that just a little bit ago. I like Mississippi State
- 10:04Speaker 1: in this ballgame. I really do. I think State is
- 10:07Speaker 1: going to go play loose. I think the pressure is
- 10:10Speaker 1: on South Carolina. Carolina is a three-and-a-half point favorite in
- 10:13Speaker 1: this game. That totals at 58-and-a-half. You may want to
- 10:16Speaker 1: look under the number there at 58-and-a-half. something like a
- 10:20Speaker 1: 24-21 type ballgame, 27-21 type ballgame as well. I would
- 10:26Speaker 1: look at maybe the under and then, of course, Mississippi
- 10:30Speaker 1: State to cover the three and a half, which means
- 10:33Speaker 1: you would get three and a half, right, if you're
- 10:35Speaker 1: playing Mississippi State. Georgia playing Arkansas. Arkansas looked lethargic against
- 10:41Speaker 1: Utah the other night. Georgia a 24-and-a-half point favorite. The
- 10:45Speaker 1: total on that game is at 54-and-a-half. Georgia will likely
- 10:48Speaker 1: cover that 24 and a half. The only thing with
- 10:50Speaker 1: that game is Kirby smart, traditionally like Nick Saban prior
- 10:54Speaker 1: to him, they will take their foot off the gas,
- 10:56Speaker 1: but I think they cover that 24 and a half
- 10:58Speaker 1: Kentucky who gave Alabama a ball game for a quarter.
- 11:01Speaker 1: They traveled down to Texas a and M that totals
- 11:04Speaker 1: at 48 and a half Aggies are a 16 and
- 11:06Speaker 1: a half point there in that ball game. I think
- 11:10Speaker 1: Texas a and M probably covers that Kentucky. I just,
- 11:14Speaker 1: I don't think they have the juice, Texas a and M,
- 11:17Speaker 1: They handled Arizona State pretty well. And I don't know
- 11:19Speaker 1: that Kentucky's any better than Arizona State, if we're being honest.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Texas A & M, that game was close at the half.
- 11:24Speaker 1: They pulled away. They had the high horses there. Give
- 11:27Speaker 1: me Texas A & M to cover that. Alabama plays
- 11:30Speaker 1: Florida State this weekend. I don't know if you guys
- 11:32Speaker 1: saw it or not. Florida State canned their athletics director today.
- 11:36Speaker 1: So their athletics director's gone. Mike Norvell, the head football coach,
- 11:39Speaker 1: he's got a pretty big buyout. He is next on
- 11:42Speaker 1: this list, I can promise you. And if they go
- 11:44Speaker 1: in and get absolutely destroyed, by Alabama this weekend, then
- 11:48Speaker 1: it's going to be, you know, kind of Katie bar
- 11:50Speaker 1: the door, shall we say, for Mike Norvell. That total
- 11:55Speaker 1: is a 49.5. I think they'll go over the 49.5. And, look,
- 11:58Speaker 1: right now I wouldn't be surprised to see Bama cover
- 12:01Speaker 1: that line as well. Also, NC State at Vanderbilt this weekend.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Vanderbilt is a four-and-a-half point favorite against the Wolf Pack
- 12:09Speaker 1: of NC State. Look, Vanderbilt– They don't look like they've
- 12:13Speaker 1: dropped off a whole lot. They're still a really nice
- 12:15Speaker 1: football team. I don't think Clark Lee's going to let
- 12:17Speaker 1: them go back to the old Vanderbilt of old. That
- 12:20Speaker 1: totals at 52-1⁄2. I would say not play that one.
- 12:24Speaker 1: And then we've got two patty-cake games in the SEC.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Oklahoma trying to rebound. They'll take on New Mexico, the Lobos.
- 12:30Speaker 1: They're favored by 22-1⁄2. They'll likely cover that number. 48-1⁄2,
- 12:34Speaker 1: that number's probably going to hit the under because Oklahoma
- 12:37Speaker 1: will likely win that game somewhere around 37-3, 37-10. somewhere
- 12:42Speaker 1: in there. And then Texas, after a big walk-off win
- 12:46Speaker 1: against them, the comeback win against Ohio State over the weekend,
- 12:48Speaker 1: that total sits at 58-and-a-half, and they're taking on UTSA. UTSA,
- 12:55Speaker 1: a nice football team. Jeff Traylor, one of the better
- 12:57Speaker 1: group of six coaches, but they just won't have the horses.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Texas will likely cover that 30-and-a-half. They are the new
- 13:03Speaker 1: AP number one team in the country, and Texas liable
- 13:08Speaker 1: to cover that one. So you've got some great games
- 13:11Speaker 1: this weekend. Of course, the big one, LSU and Ole Miss,
- 13:16Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin comes back to Oxford. I know a lot
- 13:18Speaker 1: of you are looking for tickets, and I'm going to
- 13:20Speaker 1: be honest with you, they're going to be hard to
- 13:22Speaker 1: come by. And we were looking at ticket prices on
- 13:25Speaker 1: StubHub and some of the other outlets today, and these
- 13:28Speaker 1: tickets are going anywhere from $ 500, $ 600, $ 1, 200, $ 1, 800 on
- 13:29Speaker 1: most of the third-party markets. And it's going to be
- 13:31Speaker 1: tough to find a ticket. for this one right here.
- 13:40Speaker 1: You know, my initial thoughts on Ole Miss and LSU,
- 13:42Speaker 1: and again, we will visit with Brad Logan about this
- 13:46Speaker 1: coming up here in about 25 minutes. LSU, I think,
- 13:49Speaker 1: is the better team top to bottom, but Sam Leavitt
- 13:53Speaker 1: is going to be the question mark. He threw three
- 13:55Speaker 1: interceptions this past weekend against Louisiana Tech. You're going to
- 13:59Speaker 1: get either good Sam Leavitt or bad Sam Leavitt. What
- 14:02Speaker 1: we know about Trinidad-Chamberlain is you're going to get Good
- 14:07Speaker 1: Trinidad just about every day of the week, right? Every
- 14:09Speaker 1: day of the week. By the way, we've got a
- 14:10Speaker 1: good Monday night football game going on. We've got a
- 14:12Speaker 1: 7-7 ball game, Denver versus KC. KC, we told you
- 14:17Speaker 1: on the show today, take KC, ride with KC in
- 14:19Speaker 1: this ball game. They're favored by two and a half.
- 14:21Speaker 1: I think they will cover this. This game looks like
- 14:23Speaker 1: it's going to hit the under. But back to LSU,
- 14:26Speaker 1: I felt like this was a funny comment if you
- 14:28Speaker 1: guys missed it. Let me go find it from the governor,
- 14:31Speaker 1: the astute governor of Louisiana, Jeff Landry. And when you
- 14:37Speaker 1: look at Landry and what he said earlier today, let
- 14:40Speaker 1: me find it real quickly. And I think I'll put
- 14:43Speaker 1: it over here in my post instead of the repost.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Let's see. We'll find it. Jeff Landry, the governor of Louisiana.
- 14:53Speaker 1: And maybe it's gone to here. Where did it go?
- 14:56Speaker 1: All right. Well, let me just tell you what he said.
- 14:59Speaker 1: Jeff Landry, the governor of the great state of Louisiana, said, hey,
- 15:03Speaker 1: I hope Ole Miss can show us some great Southern
- 15:06Speaker 1: hospitality when we come to Oxford. Lane's going to need
- 15:09Speaker 1: a lot of security. Please show us some great Southern hospitality.
- 15:13Speaker 1: I laughed at that. You know, we love Southern hospitality, right?
- 15:16Speaker 1: Fried chicken, get you a drink, have a seat. Hey,
- 15:20Speaker 1: take my seat, right? Eat my mashed potatoes. Whatever your
- 15:23Speaker 1: Southern hospitality is, enjoy my stuff. We'll give it to you.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Ole Miss is not doing that this weekend, though. They're
- 15:29Speaker 1: going to do that in the Grove with their own fans.
- 15:31Speaker 1: And they'll do that with some of the fans that
- 15:33Speaker 1: come across. You know how it is when you tailgate.
- 15:35Speaker 1: If you're an Ole Miss fan, you've got LSU friends.
- 15:38Speaker 1: They'll come in. They're coming in for the ballgame, especially
- 15:40Speaker 1: if you're older and you're not in the frats and
- 15:42Speaker 1: all that stuff, not in college. Come on in. We'll
- 15:45Speaker 1: fix you a play. But by and large, it's going
- 15:48Speaker 1: to be absolutely crazy in Oxford this weekend. I doubt
- 15:51Speaker 1: there's going to be very little Southern hospitality. Jeff Landry,
- 15:55Speaker 1: you know, kind of– Really kind of, what do they say,
- 15:58Speaker 1: pissing up a flagpole hoping it doesn't rain or whatever
- 16:01Speaker 1: the hell that damn phrase is. Make sure you're playing
- 16:04Speaker 1: on MyBookie before we get Robbie Falk. He'll be in
- 16:06Speaker 1: with us here momentarily. Play on MyBookie. Go to mybookie.ag.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Use the promo code patio and you can get a
- 16:11Speaker 1: sign-in bonus if you've never played. Also brought to you
- 16:13Speaker 1: by Dr.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Pepper.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Go to thezone1059. com. Click on that link and get in
- 16:19Speaker 1: today and you have a chance to register for tickets
- 16:22Speaker 1: for the college football playoff and the national championships. All right,
- 16:26Speaker 1: before we get Robbie Falk in here, I wanted to
- 16:28Speaker 1: find a couple more things and share with you as
- 16:32Speaker 1: well that you may find useful. One of them is
- 16:36Speaker 1: the TV schedule for next week. And remember, they set
- 16:40Speaker 1: these things a week out. So the TV schedule has
- 16:43Speaker 1: been updated for next week. Let me get this out
- 16:46Speaker 1: here for you real quick so you can see it.
- 16:47Speaker 1: If you're wondering about game times for next week, game
- 16:50Speaker 1: times for next week, You've got Texas versus Tennessee. This
- 16:53Speaker 1: is going to be an 11 o'clock in the morning
- 16:55Speaker 1: kick on the SEC on ABC. You've also got South
- 16:58Speaker 1: Alabama at Kentucky on the SEC Network at 1145. Ole Miss, Florida.
- 17:04Speaker 1: And I want to focus on that Ole Miss, Florida
- 17:06Speaker 1: game and that LSU, Texas A & M game here
- 17:08Speaker 1: in just a bit. There's a reason because it ties
- 17:10Speaker 1: into this weekend. 230 game on SEC, ABC on ABC
- 17:14Speaker 1: or ESPN. The networks have those choices. Oklahoma, Georgia on
- 17:19Speaker 1: the same platforms at 230. So you'll have Ole Miss, Florida. Oklahoma,
- 17:22Speaker 1: Georgia going out at 2.30. Coming up at 3.15, you've
- 17:25Speaker 1: got Vanderbilt at Auburn. This will be on the SEC Network. Also,
- 17:29Speaker 1: South Carolina taking on Alabama. This will be a 6
- 17:32Speaker 1: o'clock kick on ESPN. Texas A & M, LSU at 6.30,
- 17:36Speaker 1: SEC on ABC. Missouri at Mississippi State, 6.45 kick, Davis-Wade Stadium.
- 17:43Speaker 1: That will be on the SEC on ESPN, on the
- 17:46Speaker 1: SEC Network. And Tulsa, Arkansas. Look, Tulsa may go in
- 17:49Speaker 1: there and beat Arkansas. Arkansas looked so bad again against
- 17:52Speaker 1: Utah the other night. It was awful. I watched a
- 17:54Speaker 1: half of that and then got out of that, went
- 17:57Speaker 1: to bed. I said, look, I'm not sitting here watching this.
- 17:59Speaker 1: This absolute train wreck. Arkansas is awful. So these are
- 18:04Speaker 1: your game times for next week in the SEC. And again,
- 18:09Speaker 1: back to that Ole Miss game. Here's what I wanted
- 18:11Speaker 1: to say about the two games next week. They're going
- 18:15Speaker 1: to play this game on Saturday night in Oxford. When
- 18:18Speaker 1: they play this game, it will end and there will
- 18:20Speaker 1: be a winner and a loser. But the season isn't over. Remember,
- 18:22Speaker 1: the season isn't over. Ole Miss, win or lose, will
- 18:26Speaker 1: have to get ready to go to Florida next weekend.
- 18:29Speaker 1: LSU will have to get ready to take on Texas
- 18:31Speaker 1: A & M. So, obviously, this is a huge game
- 18:34Speaker 1: for both clubs. But next week matters. And that's what
- 18:37Speaker 1: I want to see is how both of these teams,
- 18:41Speaker 1: LSU and Ole Miss, perform after this week. After this week. Because, look,
- 18:47Speaker 1: you know, like Kiffin said it today, he said, the
- 18:49Speaker 1: pressure is on them. It's not on us. He said, Hey,
- 18:52Speaker 1: and I like how you framed it up. I laughed
- 18:53Speaker 1: about it. He said, Hey, we won seven games last year.
- 18:56Speaker 1: He didn't. He was talking about LSU. They won double
- 19:00Speaker 1: digit games, played the college football playoff, won a couple
- 19:02Speaker 1: of games there, have two Heisman candidates coming back in
- 19:06Speaker 1: Chambliss and Lacey. The pressure's on them. And he's right.
- 19:09Speaker 1: I mean, the pressure really is on Ole Miss in
- 19:11Speaker 1: this game more so than LSU. Now the pressure's on Kiffin.
- 19:14Speaker 1: He wants to win this ball game, but, When you
- 19:16Speaker 1: look at this game, I want to see what happens
- 19:20Speaker 1: after this game. And, you know, I say after the
- 19:23Speaker 1: game just because– let's say you're Ole Miss and let's
- 19:26Speaker 1: say you get beat by 14 points or you get
- 19:29Speaker 1: beat by seven points or whatever it is. How do
- 19:32Speaker 1: you respond next week? How do you respond next week? Conversely,
- 19:36Speaker 1: if you win this week, what does that response look
- 19:39Speaker 1: like next week? And the same for LSU because you
- 19:42Speaker 1: got Texas A & M and because– Both of these
- 19:45Speaker 1: teams have playoff aspirations. Both of these teams have teams
- 19:47Speaker 1: that they feel like are good enough to make the
- 19:49Speaker 1: college football. playoff but so much has been made of
- 19:52Speaker 1: this ball game coming up with LSU and Ole Miss
- 19:57Speaker 1: that I think we forget there's a full season left
- 19:59Speaker 1: to be played right there's a full season left to
- 20:02Speaker 1: be played as a matter of fact you know if
- 20:04Speaker 1: you go look and I know if you're an Ole
- 20:05Speaker 1: Miss fan you've looked at this but if you go
- 20:08Speaker 1: look at Ole Miss and And let me see if
- 20:10Speaker 1: I can pull this up really quickly before we get
- 20:13Speaker 1: Robbie Falk in here. And let's look. Where is this
- 20:19Speaker 1: real quickly?
- 20:20Speaker 2: There we go.
- 20:20Speaker 1: All right. So let's take a look at Ole Miss'
- 20:23Speaker 1: schedule real quick and why I say I'm curious about
- 20:27Speaker 1: what happens next. Obviously, I'm curious about this weekend. But
- 20:31Speaker 1: what happens next? Let's go to Ole Miss' schedule real quick,
- 20:33Speaker 1: shall we? And before we get Robbie in here, you know,
- 20:37Speaker 1: they play– LSU this weekend, then they've got to go
- 20:40Speaker 1: to Florida. How do you get up for that one?
- 20:42Speaker 1: You've got to go to Vanderbilt. So after this week,
- 20:44Speaker 1: Ole Miss has two road games. Then they come home
- 20:46Speaker 1: and take on a Missouri team that's going to have
- 20:49Speaker 1: a little bit of grudge there. Remember, they have a
- 20:51Speaker 1: quarterback that was in Oxford last year that will be
- 20:54Speaker 1: back in Oxford for this game. So not only does
- 20:55Speaker 1: Ole Miss have Lane Kiffin coming back, they have a
- 20:58Speaker 1: quarterback coming back that played there as well. At Texas,
- 21:01Speaker 1: Auburn at home, Georgia at home, at Oklahoma, Wofford at
- 21:05Speaker 1: Mississippi State. So, you know, again, I know a lot
- 21:08Speaker 1: of people's making and should about this big matchup coming
- 21:10Speaker 1: up this weekend. And Oxford, it is going to be
- 21:13Speaker 1: a crazy, stupid atmosphere. But I want to see what
- 21:16Speaker 1: LSU and Ole Miss do after this game. Let's bring
- 21:19Speaker 1: in Robbie Falk as he's kind enough to give us
- 21:22Speaker 1: some time. State 1878. Robbie, man, I am so glad
- 21:26Speaker 1: you are joining us here. Appreciate you joining us on
- 21:27Speaker 1: the radio. But to get you here and we can
- 21:29Speaker 1: have some extended time, how are you?
- 21:30Speaker 4: Yeah, man, doing good. Can you hear me? Yeah.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I got you loud and clear. Loud and clear. Man,
- 21:36Speaker 1: just breaking down the week of college football, you know,
- 21:38Speaker 1: we're going to get to Mississippi State here in just
- 21:39Speaker 1: a bit, but your thoughts of what we've seen two
- 21:41Speaker 1: weeks in. Oregon's gone down. We saw Oklahoma John Mateer
- 21:46Speaker 1: look like a paper tiger. You just kind of go
- 21:48Speaker 1: around the SEC and around college football. It's been a
- 21:50Speaker 1: weird two weeks.
- 21:51Speaker 3: Yeah, this is what you're going to see in college football, Jake.
- 21:54Speaker 3: I mean, this is just where we are right now
- 21:57Speaker 3: in this landscape. It's going to be so much up
- 22:00Speaker 3: and down, ebb and flow with these programs year to year.
- 22:04Speaker 3: Based on who you get out the transfer portal now.
- 22:07Speaker 3: I mean, you cannot.
- 22:08Speaker 4: Build like you used to be able to build.
- 22:11Speaker 3: You know, if you– and I think, to me, that's
- 22:13Speaker 3: a good thing for people like Mississippi State and Ole
- 22:16Speaker 3: Miss and teams like that, that you can, you know,
- 22:20Speaker 3: you can jump up.
- 22:21Speaker 4: If you get the right pieces in place, you can
- 22:23Speaker 4: jump up right there.
- 22:23Speaker 3: You know, with State, it used to be, like when
- 22:25Speaker 3: Dan Mullen was here, you would have every three or
- 22:28Speaker 3: four years you felt like you had a team that
- 22:31Speaker 3: could really get the job done at the highest level.
- 22:35Speaker 3: And I think now, like the way this is set
- 22:37Speaker 3: up now, where there is no Alabama dynasty, Georgia's still
- 22:44Speaker 3: kind of hanging around at the top of the ladder,
- 22:47Speaker 3: but even they are not as strong year to year
- 22:50Speaker 3: because they just can't build the depth that they used
- 22:52Speaker 3: to be able to build. This is just going to
- 22:54Speaker 3: be how it is. And I think you're going to
- 22:57Speaker 3: see more upsets. You're going to see more Oklahoma State
- 23:00Speaker 3: beating Oregon when they have absolutely no reason to be
- 23:03Speaker 3: in that ballgame. You're going to see that more and
- 23:05Speaker 3: more at this point. So that's why I tell people
- 23:09Speaker 3: all the time, when you strip away the court stuff
- 23:13Speaker 3: and NIL and the portal and all that stuff and
- 23:16Speaker 3: you just take it for what it is and you
- 23:18Speaker 3: just watch the games and you just kind of, you know,
- 23:23Speaker 3: just sit back and take it for what it is
- 23:25Speaker 3: on a college football Saturday, it's still awesome. And it's
- 23:29Speaker 3: as good as it's been because you don't know what
- 23:32Speaker 3: to expect sometimes week to week.
- 23:36Speaker 1: No, I agree with you 100 percent. And look, I
- 23:37Speaker 1: felt like let's get into Mississippi State. And I know
- 23:40Speaker 1: you probably said it. A lot of people have said it. Hey,
- 23:43Speaker 1: they Minnesota was such a big ballgame. When you look
- 23:45Speaker 1: at that middle half of that schedule for state with
- 23:48Speaker 1: Bama and Texas and not a particular order, you know, Oklahoma.
- 23:52Speaker 1: I mean, just LSU on the road really need to
- 23:55Speaker 1: get off to a good start. So a couple of
- 23:57Speaker 1: things that work here. Camario Taylor's a real deal. I
- 23:59Speaker 1: think we can safely say that. And I saw your
- 24:02Speaker 1: take on social media, and I totally agree. I think
- 24:04Speaker 1: you said something, and you can expand on this. The
- 24:06Speaker 1: national media is going to fall in love with him.
- 24:08Speaker 1: There's going to be now– if they keep winning, this
- 24:12Speaker 1: is going to become a big story like, oh, hey,
- 24:15Speaker 1: let's fall back in love with Mississippi State if they
- 24:18Speaker 1: continue to do this.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's the thing about being in the SEC, Jake.
- 24:22Speaker 3: I tell people this all the time because I remember
- 24:26Speaker 3: last year, year before– Probably 24 is when it really
- 24:30Speaker 3: got loud. This is the lowest it's ever been. I
- 24:33Speaker 3: don't see us ever coming out of it. All it
- 24:35Speaker 3: takes is one guy. All it takes is one guy
- 24:38Speaker 3: like Kamario Taylor or one right coaching hire, and you're
- 24:44Speaker 3: right back in it. You're right back in the mainstream.
- 24:47Speaker 3: You're right back in everybody's hearts and everybody's televisions. That's
- 24:51Speaker 3: the great thing about being inside the SEC is when
- 24:53Speaker 3: you get guys like Dak Prescott and Kamario Taylor– It
- 24:57Speaker 3: took Dak three weeks before everybody really started to fall
- 25:01Speaker 3: in love with Mississippi State in 2014. It's taken Kamario
- 25:05Speaker 3: Taylor a couple of weeks, a couple of clips, before
- 25:08Speaker 3: people have really started to jump on board here. I'm
- 25:12Speaker 3: predicting if they win this weekend, it will be.
- 25:15Speaker 4: A media frenzy for Missouri next week.
- 25:18Speaker 3: There will be requests coming from everywhere, ESPN, CBS, CNN,
- 25:25Speaker 3: everybody's trying to get to start bowl for Missouri and
- 25:28Speaker 3: or the Alabama game that's it's going to happen and
- 25:32Speaker 3: that's just you know that that's the nature of being
- 25:34Speaker 3: inside the SEC when you got a guy like this
- 25:37Speaker 3: like Camario and I think tonight I put out our
- 25:41Speaker 3: Camario Taylor documentary that that we put together a kid
- 25:45Speaker 3: I hired out of Michigan State who is just phenomenal
- 25:48Speaker 3: Max Dawson did the video work on this stuff but
- 25:51Speaker 3: he and I went to Macon Mississippi back in the
- 25:54Speaker 3: summer and talk to Camario's mom, we talked to Teddy Young.
- 25:58Speaker 3: You know, you'd know all about Knoxville County and what
- 26:01Speaker 3: they're all about. And we got to know Camario a
- 26:05Speaker 3: whole lot more. And I wanted people to see this.
- 26:08Speaker 3: I specifically wanted this to go out on YouTube for
- 26:12Speaker 3: the whole world to see. And I'm trying to get
- 26:14Speaker 3: it on SEC Network because I want people to see
- 26:17Speaker 3: who Camario Taylor is beyond the rocket arm.
- 26:21Speaker 4: You know, he's running like a deer.
- 26:22Speaker 2: He's 6'5, 220 pounds.
- 26:25Speaker 3: But this kid, beyond all of that, is just special
- 26:29Speaker 3: in how he carries himself and his thought process on
- 26:32Speaker 3: why he chose Mississippi State. That's why I feel so
- 26:35Speaker 3: strongly about this kid and him being a Bulldog long-term
- 26:38Speaker 3: and him making an impact. And the reason I wanted
- 26:41Speaker 3: to do this documentary in the first place before he's
- 26:45Speaker 3: even done anything is because I want this to be
- 26:49Speaker 3: the starting point for him and for people to see
- 26:52Speaker 3: this is what's coming because since he was a junior
- 26:54Speaker 3: in high school and I saw him in, uh, at
- 26:58Speaker 3: Oxford and Oxford or Hattiesburg, wherever it was for that
- 27:01Speaker 3: state championship, his junior year, I just thought at that moment,
- 27:05Speaker 3: this kid is going to do something really special.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:08Speaker 4: And so that that's kind of where I'm at with him.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:11Speaker 1: And I do mean to step on you there, I think,
- 27:12Speaker 1: because we see each other every year at these state
- 27:14Speaker 1: championship games and it's always great to catch up with
- 27:16Speaker 1: you and visit, um, And I wish we could do more,
- 27:18Speaker 1: which I will be in Starkville coming up in two weeks, obviously,
- 27:20Speaker 1: Brandon Starkville. So we'll have to visit then. Maybe we
- 27:22Speaker 1: can grab lunch.
- 27:23Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 27:24Speaker 4: I'll be there.
- 27:24Speaker 1: But I remember when we saw him, and I believe
- 27:27Speaker 1: it was Oxford, and I was standing on the sideline.
- 27:29Speaker 1: I had just got off side set for TV, and
- 27:31Speaker 1: I was talking to Wyatt Davis, who is a quarterback's
- 27:34Speaker 1: coach around the state. And Wyatt said, hey, you want
- 27:36Speaker 1: to see the next big thing coming through?
- 27:38Speaker 2: I said, who is that?
- 27:39Speaker 1: He pointed to the tunnel, and he said, Kamario Taylor.
- 27:42Speaker 1: And I had not seen him in person until that day,
- 27:45Speaker 1: and I thought, wow, this guy– has got it. And
- 27:48Speaker 1: that was it. Like you said, he was a junior
- 27:50Speaker 1: in high school then.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:52Speaker 3: And I mean, throw in, throw in the ball, you know,
- 27:55Speaker 3: 50 yards to the air in a state championship game.
- 27:58Speaker 3: And the way the ball was coming out of his hand,
- 28:01Speaker 3: you just don't see it at that age. And the
- 28:04Speaker 3: first time I saw this kid was at Jeffrey Simmons
- 28:08Speaker 3: football camp, his ninth, ninth grade year, he was going
- 28:12Speaker 3: into ninth grade and physically he, you know, you look
- 28:16Speaker 3: out there and you can usually tell if there's an
- 28:19Speaker 3: athlete out there that's capable of going to the next level.
- 28:22Speaker 3: And so I saw this kid and I asked, I
- 28:26Speaker 3: can't remember who I asked. It might've been Tyrone Shorter.
- 28:29Speaker 3: I said, who is that? And he said, that's Omar
- 28:31Speaker 3: Conner's nephew. And I said, you gotta be kidding me.
- 28:35Speaker 3: This kid looks like a freak. I mean, he was
- 28:39Speaker 3: zipping it at that and he wasn't, he wasn't near,
- 28:42Speaker 3: you know, where he is now. I mean, it was very,
- 28:44Speaker 3: very much raw. But you could see the tools, like
- 28:47Speaker 3: you could see, all right, this kid, he's got a shot,
- 28:50Speaker 3: a lot like we saw with Jeffrey Simmons when he
- 28:53Speaker 3: was about that age.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:54Speaker 4: And, man, I mean, I don't know if even I could.
- 28:58Speaker 3: Have predicted that it would be like this, you know,
- 29:02Speaker 3: the tools that he has, that he possesses. I mean,
- 29:05Speaker 3: it's God-given. But he's also, from the mind standpoint, just
- 29:11Speaker 3: like processing and taking in You know, what Jeff Lebby's
- 29:17Speaker 3: giving him on a day-to-day basis is special, too. I mean,
- 29:21Speaker 3: he ain't just out there, you know, just slinging it. Like,
- 29:25Speaker 3: he is taking it in, and he's getting better and better.
- 29:28Speaker 3: The development that he's getting at Mississippi State is next level.
- 29:32Speaker 3: He's got Kevin Johns. He's got Matt Wells. He's got
- 29:35Speaker 3: Jeff Lebby. Phillip Montgomery probably giving some thoughts every now
- 29:39Speaker 3: and then, too. He's getting developed, man. And I mean,
- 29:43Speaker 3: he ain't going to go into the league in a
- 29:44Speaker 3: couple of years and just be a, you know, raw
- 29:48Speaker 3: across the board. He's going to be a fairly developed quarterback.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Yeah. And you can see that if you go back
- 29:54Speaker 1: and look, and a lot of people were talking like
- 29:55Speaker 1: early last year, said, well, just cut the tape on
- 29:58Speaker 1: in high school. He should be playing last year. But
- 30:00Speaker 1: when I cut it on and I'm no quarterbacks coach,
- 30:02Speaker 1: and I know you watch it too and study it.
- 30:04Speaker 1: He was, when he came out of high school, he
- 30:05Speaker 1: was a one read guy. You know, he could throw
- 30:08Speaker 1: a good fade route. He would throw a quick stop route.
- 30:10Speaker 1: He would throw that screen pass and then he would
- 30:11Speaker 1: ad lib and then, you know, use his athletic ability.
- 30:15Speaker 1: What we saw against Minnesota Saturday, that's not the same guy.
- 30:19Speaker 1: He is polished. And look, like you said, he's just
- 30:23Speaker 1: barely scratching the surface. Now, Let's talk about South Carolina
- 30:26Speaker 1: and what you think we'll see on Saturday. Williams-Bride Stadium,
- 30:30Speaker 1: that's going to be a big ballgame. I think the
- 30:32Speaker 1: pressure's on South Carolina. Shane Beamer like 2-11 over the
- 30:35Speaker 1: last 13, and I may have that number off just
- 30:38Speaker 1: a little bit, 13 FBS opponents. Lenore Sellers. It's a
- 30:41Speaker 1: big ballgame Saturday.
- 30:43Speaker 4: It's a big one.
- 30:44Speaker 3: I think it's big for Mississippi State because this could
- 30:47Speaker 3: be another major step forward. You win this ballgame. And
- 30:51Speaker 3: I think it's all bets all for this team. I mean,
- 30:54Speaker 3: if you go on the road to Minnesota to a
- 30:57Speaker 3: Big Ten program and you whip them and then you
- 31:00Speaker 3: go on the road in this environment and beat who
- 31:02Speaker 3: I think is a good South Carolina team, very talented, experienced,
- 31:07Speaker 3: at the right spots, you win that ballgame, you know,
- 31:11Speaker 3: there's not a ton on the schedule that I'm looking
- 31:14Speaker 3: at moving forward where I'm like, they can't win that game. And,
- 31:18Speaker 3: you know, as good as I do, You have a
- 31:20Speaker 3: guy like that at quarterback that's that talented that can
- 31:23Speaker 3: improvise and do the things that he does. You've got
- 31:25Speaker 3: a chance against just about anybody. But for South Carolina,
- 31:29Speaker 3: I think you're exactly right. This probably is a game
- 31:32Speaker 3: that they have a little more pressure on them. Shane
- 31:35Speaker 3: Beamer is at the point now where everybody's ready for
- 31:37Speaker 3: him to win or go home. I mean, this is
- 31:43Speaker 3: it for him. He needs to win eight or nine games,
- 31:45Speaker 3: I feel like, for them to feel good about the
- 31:47Speaker 3: future of the program. They've recruited fairly well. But they've
- 31:50Speaker 3: been so up and down, and you don't really know
- 31:52Speaker 3: what you're going to get. So it is a big
- 31:55Speaker 3: game for them. They're going to have the home atmosphere.
- 31:58Speaker 3: And sometimes, you know, that home atmosphere playing at your
- 32:02Speaker 3: home place, sometimes, depending on the teams, it plays in
- 32:06Speaker 3: the favor of the road team. And sometimes there's a
- 32:09Speaker 3: little more pressure on that home team. And sometimes that pressure.
- 32:12Speaker 4: Can be too much. I'm interested to see where it goes.
- 32:17Speaker 1: No, me too, as well. And, you know, I think
- 32:19Speaker 1: if you can get this win this weekend, like I said,
- 32:23Speaker 1: that really, that 635 kick next week, since it's already
- 32:26Speaker 1: been set against Missouri, Davis-Wade Stadium, you will see a,
- 32:30Speaker 1: and I think you're going to see it regardless, but
- 32:32Speaker 1: if State could win this weekend and get to 3-0
- 32:35Speaker 1: with Missouri coming in, you're going to see an atmosphere
- 32:38Speaker 1: there you haven't seen probably since Fitzgerald, Prescott. I mean,
- 32:43Speaker 1: there's been some big moments, don't get me wrong. The
- 32:45Speaker 1: atmosphere there is unbelievable, but You talk about ripping the
- 32:48Speaker 1: roof off next week if they can get a win
- 32:50Speaker 1: this weekend.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 32:52Speaker 3: We saw just a snapshot of it last year against
- 32:54Speaker 3: Arizona State, and it was kind of perfect storm night
- 32:57Speaker 3: game and the way the game played out. I mean,
- 33:00Speaker 3: everybody was just hungry for something.
- 33:01Speaker 4: Good to happen.
- 33:03Speaker 3: But this feels like if you win this game and
- 33:05Speaker 3: you get back next week, it's going to be a
- 33:07Speaker 3: wide-out night game. At that point, it feels like, okay,
- 33:11Speaker 3: you feel like the program has got over the hump then.
- 33:16Speaker 3: And you've got a quarterback that you can really rally around.
- 33:19Speaker 3: The excitement level around campus is going to be sky high.
- 33:23Speaker 3: I think it's still going to be a great atmosphere regardless.
- 33:26Speaker 3: But there could be a giant difference in going into
- 33:29Speaker 3: that game 3-0 and 2-1. And I just feel like
- 33:34Speaker 3: this is such a big game. They could not win
- 33:37Speaker 3: those games last year against Texas and Tennessee and Florida
- 33:41Speaker 3: that kept them from really taking that next step. This
- 33:44Speaker 3: is the time where Jeff Ledby and his staff and
- 33:47Speaker 3: his players, they got to get over that hump and
- 33:50Speaker 3: show that they can win games like this, win them
- 33:52Speaker 3: in tough environments. And you went back to back on
- 33:55Speaker 3: the road like this, the confidence level with this team
- 33:58Speaker 3: going into every game moving forward, it just changes. And
- 34:02Speaker 3: you're a completely different program.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Let's get one more question in with you, and I
- 34:06Speaker 1: appreciate you. We've got to do this more often. Defensively,
- 34:10Speaker 1: They look long. They look athletic. They did everything they
- 34:13Speaker 1: needed to do against Minnesota. Different animal. We talked about
- 34:17Speaker 1: Lenore Sellers. This is going to be, you know, the
- 34:20Speaker 1: beauty of this is the offense they're going to see
- 34:22Speaker 1: this weekend, they kind of practice against something already pretty similar. So,
- 34:26Speaker 1: you know, they're going to be familiar. Your thoughts on
- 34:28Speaker 1: the defense so far under Zach Barnett 2.0?
- 34:31Speaker 4: I think just solid, man.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Like, I don't think that they have the dudes yet
- 34:35Speaker 3: up front that they really want to have in this
- 34:39Speaker 3: defensive scheme. I don't think you quite have the depth
- 34:42Speaker 3: at linebacker. You don't quite have the guys at the
- 34:46Speaker 3: edge position. You don't have like a Tyrus Wheat just yet.
- 34:50Speaker 3: But I've been really impressed with the secondary that they have.
- 34:55Speaker 3: I love the safety group a lot. I love the cornerbacks,
- 34:59Speaker 3: Jet Jefferson and Kelly Jones. I think those guys can
- 35:02Speaker 3: make up for any deficiencies that you might have up
- 35:05Speaker 3: front when you're getting tested in the passing game. And
- 35:08Speaker 3: we saw it the other day. I mean– they had
- 35:10Speaker 3: a guy that had to throw the football 48 times,
- 35:13Speaker 3: and that's not the offense that they planned for in
- 35:15Speaker 3: that game. They planned for stopping the run, and they
- 35:18Speaker 3: stopped the run. And I think this team will be
- 35:21Speaker 3: pretty solid against the run. But if you can't get
- 35:24Speaker 3: the pressure up front, at least now I think Zach
- 35:28Speaker 3: Garnett has a secondary that can cover if he needs
- 35:32Speaker 3: them to cover down the field. Or if he needs
- 35:34Speaker 3: to bring a safety blitz or, you know, blitz from
- 35:38Speaker 3: a cornerback, He has some help back there that I
- 35:40Speaker 3: think they have guys that are athletic enough to cover
- 35:43Speaker 3: that he didn't really have in 2020 through 2023. So
- 35:48Speaker 3: I like this secondary a lot. I think that this
- 35:51Speaker 3: defense can be good enough to win some big games
- 35:55Speaker 3: this year because you have the difference maker quarterback and
- 35:59Speaker 3: the offensive line is so much better. I don't know
- 36:01Speaker 3: if you went back and watched any of that film,
- 36:03Speaker 3: but I watched some of the all 22 of that.
- 36:06Speaker 3: And that's the best this offensive line has looked in years.
- 36:10Speaker 3: And I hope they keep it up. I hope they
- 36:13Speaker 3: continue to do it. But that unit looks totally different
- 36:16Speaker 3: than it did the last couple years. So the defense,
- 36:19Speaker 3: I think, just has to be solid, has to get
- 36:21Speaker 3: off the field for you. And that's one thing I'll
- 36:23Speaker 3: say about Zach Arnett is they will bear down and
- 36:26Speaker 3: get stops inside the red zone. They will force field goals.
- 36:30Speaker 3: They haven't shown the ability to get turnovers yet, but
- 36:32Speaker 3: I think they'll do that too. So I like the
- 36:35Speaker 3: defense a lot. I think they're going to be good
- 36:36Speaker 3: enough that they're going to give you a chance just
- 36:39Speaker 3: about every game.
- 36:41Speaker 1: Robbie, I appreciate it. Before we go, tell everybody about
- 36:45Speaker 1: the documentary. Where are you guys with that and when
- 36:49Speaker 1: that will be out if it's not out already?
- 36:51Speaker 3: Yeah, just published it on our YouTube channel, State1878. I
- 36:53Speaker 3: tweeted it out on my Twitter account if you guys
- 36:56Speaker 3: want to go look at it there. But I just
- 36:59Speaker 3: felt like– and talking to some other people– They really
- 37:04Speaker 3: encouraged me on it, too. Like, I felt convicted that
- 37:06Speaker 3: this should be something that we open up for everybody
- 37:09Speaker 3: just to get in a look at Kamario Taylor and
- 37:12Speaker 3: who he is. So it's Kamario Taylor, Made in Mississippi.
- 37:15Speaker 3: We're going to do several of these documentaries on kids
- 37:18Speaker 3: inside the state of Mississippi, you know, at State 1878.
- 37:22Speaker 3: I feel like Mississippi State people have been missing that
- 37:25Speaker 3: long-form documentary-style video. And that's something that we've really wanted
- 37:31Speaker 3: to bring to the forefront here at 1878. We've had,
- 37:35Speaker 3: you know, training camp documentary. We did three episodes of
- 37:39Speaker 3: that during training camp. We just started last week an
- 37:42Speaker 3: in-season kind of a hard-knock style, you know, episode leading
- 37:48Speaker 3: up to the game. We did a ULM recap. This
- 37:51Speaker 3: week we'll be doing a Minnesota recap. So this site
- 37:55Speaker 3: that we have is unlike anything we've ever had at
- 37:57Speaker 3: Mississippi State. the podcast we got, the written content, the video.
- 38:03Speaker 3: If you are a fan of Mississippi State, you have
- 38:05Speaker 3: to be a part of this at State 1878.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Check them out, State 1878. It's Robbie Falk. Follow him
- 38:10Speaker 1: on X as well. Brother, I appreciate you. Look, hey,
- 38:12Speaker 1: we'll chat soon.
- 38:13Speaker 4: Yeah, man. Appreciate you, Jake.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Thanks so much, brother. Appreciate it.
- 38:16Speaker 4: See you, buddy.
- 38:17Speaker 1: Robbie Falk, kind enough to give us some time as
- 38:20Speaker 1: we move through the night. Let's bring in Brad Logan
- 38:23Speaker 1: as Brad, of course, with the Ole Miss Spirit. And
- 38:26Speaker 1: we're going to– Brad, welcome in, brother. How are you doing?
- 38:32Speaker 2: Man, I'm doing well. And yeah, I've got you. Can
- 38:36Speaker 2: you hear me?
- 38:36Speaker 1: Yep, we got you.
- 38:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I want to follow up with Robbie just for
- 38:41Speaker 5: a second.
- 38:42Speaker 2: I think Camario is really good.
- 38:44Speaker 5: And kudos to 1878, State 1878, for making that documentary
- 38:49Speaker 5: available for everybody because I think it's a great story.
- 38:53Speaker 5: A Mississippian and someone that loves the state of Mississippi,
- 38:57Speaker 5: loves Mississippi State. His mom, you know, the little clip
- 39:01Speaker 5: that we've seen talking about proud to be a Mississippi
- 39:04Speaker 5: State player, proud to be a Mississippian.
- 39:07Speaker 2: So it was really cool getting to see some of that.
- 39:09Speaker 5: So kudos to Robbie and his 1878 team for making
- 39:12Speaker 5: that available to the public.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Yeah, no, that's going to be fun. And I'm looking
- 39:16Speaker 1: forward to watching myself. All right, so let's shift gears.
- 39:19Speaker 1: You got a little ball game in Oxford this weekend.
- 39:23Speaker 1: I thought it was fun. Well, let me ask you this.
- 39:24Speaker 1: First off, this is something that's been talked about for months.
- 39:28Speaker 1: I mean, since Lane Kiffin left. and you know, the
- 39:31Speaker 1: schedules came out, everybody knew LSU was coming back this
- 39:34Speaker 1: weekend and it's been talked about and talked about and
- 39:36Speaker 1: talked about, uh, ticket price, ticket prices on the third
- 39:39Speaker 1: party market would show you how big this thing is.
- 39:41Speaker 1: I mean, we're talking, you know, I think I saw
- 39:44Speaker 1: lowest price on one market was 700 bucks and some
- 39:46Speaker 1: of 600, some it's 900 depends on where you go.
- 39:49Speaker 1: I saw some properties already being rented out for $ 1, 200
- 39:52Speaker 1: a night. And, I mean, the access to this– let
- 39:57Speaker 1: me ask you this. Has there– and there's been some
- 39:59Speaker 1: big moments. Alabama went Ole Miss beat Alabama, and, you know,
- 40:01Speaker 1: they were number one in the country. Game day was there.
- 40:04Speaker 1: You can come through probably two or three more times.
- 40:07Speaker 1: Will this be the biggest weekend environment before we get
- 40:10Speaker 1: to the game that we have.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Seen at Oxford?
- 40:12Speaker 5: Yeah, and a lot of it is because it's what's
- 40:13Speaker 5: happening off the field with Lane returning and former players,
- 40:18Speaker 5: Prince Will, Miami Ellen.
- 40:20Speaker 2: I think I'm sitting there at Prince Will.
- 40:21Speaker 5: I think one of the Mon Mielens coming back. And
- 40:23Speaker 5: then Winnie Watkins coming back, TJ Daugherty, who, by the way,
- 40:26Speaker 5: is playing really well. I don't know if you had
- 40:28Speaker 5: a chance to see his numbers, but he's one of
- 40:30Speaker 5: the better linebackers.
- 40:31Speaker 2: Alongside Will Weeks.
- 40:32Speaker 5: So, yeah, just all of the storylines leading into the game.
- 40:36Speaker 5: I think if those storylines aren't there, then obviously it's
- 40:39Speaker 5: nothing like we're talking about.
- 40:41Speaker 2: I want to say this. By the way.
- 40:43Speaker 5: To answer your question, no, I don't think anything is
- 40:46Speaker 5: like this. Even if the playoff game against Tulane, You
- 40:50Speaker 5: go back even further, the times they played Georgia, the
- 40:53Speaker 5: times they played Alabama, and then LSU in years past.
- 40:56Speaker 5: Even 03 LSU, Jake, wasn't like this, and that.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Was 20-plus years ago. So nothing up to that magnitude.
- 41:05Speaker 5: I think if you just kind of just get down
- 41:06Speaker 5: to the core of the game in and of itself,
- 41:08Speaker 5: you've got two top ten teams, and you kind of
- 41:11Speaker 5: look at the numbers that way, it's pretty fascinating to
- 41:14Speaker 5: see both these teams, the chess match between Lane and Pete,
- 41:19Speaker 5: both of them, I met with the media today. I'm
- 41:21Speaker 5: sure you've already talked about it. And both very complimentary
- 41:24Speaker 5: of the other. Lane had to get his dig in
- 41:26Speaker 5: about how.
- 41:28Speaker 2: It's going to be just mass pandemonium.
- 41:30Speaker 5: And then this insane governor comes out and says they've
- 41:34Speaker 5: got to call the National Guard, which is so ridiculous
- 41:38Speaker 5: because– No, this is not riots or anything.
- 41:41Speaker 2: It's a football game, for goodness sake.
- 41:45Speaker 5: Ben Garrett and I on the Talk of Champions, Jay,
- 41:46Speaker 5: were talking about the last time Ole Miss really threw
- 41:49Speaker 5: anything was the red high heel from Doyle Jackson from
- 41:52Speaker 5: back in the early 2000s. I don't anticipate anything like that.
- 41:57Speaker 5: I expect Ole Miss fans will boo heavily. I think
- 41:59Speaker 5: they will boo Nick Saban during college game day. But
- 42:02Speaker 5: I don't think anything, you know, anything other than a
- 42:05Speaker 5: night game against LSU.
- 42:06Speaker 2: So I will say this.
- 42:08Speaker 5: Before we came on, I was actually digging through social channels,
- 42:11Speaker 5: and I saw Chris Lowe pin to piece for all-in-three.
- 42:14Speaker 5: Keith Carter, very candid about the departure of Lane Kiffin.
- 42:17Speaker 5: I don't know if you've seen that. I know this
- 42:18Speaker 5: is just kind of just fresh. Yeah, you'll have to
- 42:21Speaker 5: go back and look at it. For folks watching and
- 42:22Speaker 5: listening that follow all of this, the post was reposted
- 42:27Speaker 5: by the all-in-three account Um, I actually just kind of
- 42:30Speaker 5: read there real quick before I came on air with you, but, uh,
- 42:33Speaker 5: pretty fascinating that, that, that Keith was so candid and, uh,
- 42:36Speaker 5: I thought it was refreshing.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Really.
- 42:38Speaker 5: You don't, you don't see many athletic directors be very candid,
- 42:42Speaker 5: but just adding to, to everything that's kind of piled
- 42:45Speaker 5: on to what we're going to be seeing this weekend.
- 42:49Speaker 1: When you get on the field, um, you know, Ole Miss, uh,
- 42:51Speaker 1: we talked to you at the beginning of the season. Uh,
- 42:53Speaker 1: you know, we know how, uh, You know, a tough
- 42:56Speaker 1: battle that first week was. I thought Louisville was a
- 42:58Speaker 1: great test. You know, for LSU, Clemson, you know, the
- 43:03Speaker 1: question was asked, is LSU that good or Clemson that bad?
- 43:05Speaker 1: I think it was some of the middle. Sam Levitt
- 43:07Speaker 1: didn't play well last week. He threw three interceptions against
- 43:10Speaker 1: Louisiana Tech. He had a touchdown. LSU ended up walking
- 43:13Speaker 1: away with that game. Let's go quarterback. I mean, I
- 43:16Speaker 1: think you have to give Ole Miss the edge at
- 43:17Speaker 1: quarterback with Trinidad. Levitt's a good player. But, man, you know,
- 43:22Speaker 1: what we've seen out of him, it's Jekyll and Hyde.
- 43:25Speaker 5: Yeah, and I don't know how good Louisiana Tech's defense is,
- 43:28Speaker 5: but they did something pretty good early for Leavitt to
- 43:31Speaker 5: throw three picks. And you and I watched that Mississippi
- 43:34Speaker 5: State-Arizona State game last year, and he did not play well.
- 43:38Speaker 5: But on the flip side, you look at what he
- 43:40Speaker 5: did against Clemson, and I get it, against air. I mean,
- 43:44Speaker 5: Sam Leavitt is dangerous when he gets outside the pocket.
- 43:47Speaker 2: And Pete even said today that.
- 43:49Speaker 5: They want to do their best, they being Ole Miss,
- 43:51Speaker 5: to try to keep Sam Levitt as a pocket passer,
- 43:55Speaker 5: because you start getting him outside of the tackles and
- 43:57Speaker 5: he is dangerous. And so I think at the end
- 44:00Speaker 5: of the day, yes, I would give Ole Miss the
- 44:01Speaker 5: edge of quarterback, but kind of big picture here, if
- 44:05Speaker 5: we come to everybody at the end of the game,
- 44:07Speaker 5: and I talk to you at the end of the game,
- 44:09Speaker 5: I think easily we can say if Sam Levitt has
- 44:12Speaker 5: a couple touchdowns and runs for 150 yards, I don't
- 44:16Speaker 5: think Ole Miss wins the game. I think they have
- 44:18Speaker 5: to keep him inside the pocket as much as possible.
- 44:21Speaker 5: Not because he's thrown to throw the interceptions, because he's
- 44:24Speaker 5: so dangerous on the ground. And so Ole Miss has
- 44:27Speaker 5: to contain him. I think he is the key to
- 44:29Speaker 5: winning the game for Ole Miss, not allowing him outside
- 44:31Speaker 5: the pocket and making him beat you through the air.
- 44:34Speaker 5: But I would probably give the edge to Ole Miss
- 44:36Speaker 5: for quarterback play because Trent Chambliss is so good. I mean,
- 44:39Speaker 5: he's one of the best quarterbacks in the country. I
- 44:41Speaker 5: think he's played really well this year. He struggled in
- 44:43Speaker 5: the third quarter against Charlotte. I think they came out
- 44:45Speaker 5: and kind of sleepwalked a little bit. Ole Miss was
- 44:47Speaker 5: playing it very tight, very close to the vest with
- 44:49Speaker 5: John David Baker and Joe Judge on the offensive side
- 44:51Speaker 5: of the ball. They did clean their tackling up. Still
- 44:54Speaker 5: receivers kind of running free. They've got to work that out.
- 44:58Speaker 5: But they did clean up a couple things in the
- 45:00Speaker 5: second half. But, yeah, I'm definitely giving the edge to
- 45:03Speaker 5: Trinidad at quarterback.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Where else do you think, I mean, Ole Miss has
- 45:06Speaker 1: an edge, and then where are you concerned?
- 45:09Speaker 5: A little bit concerned, obviously, the defensive backfield. I mean,
- 45:12Speaker 5: I just kind of talked about that. I mean, they
- 45:14Speaker 5: played a lot of different players, Andy Jaffe. They played
- 45:18Speaker 5: a couple of newcomers. I asked Pete today in the
- 45:20Speaker 5: press conference who kind of– because I wanted to kind
- 45:23Speaker 5: of see what he would talk about the defensive backfield
- 45:25Speaker 5: without putting the spotlight on them. I said, who are
- 45:27Speaker 5: some players in the second half, whenever you substitute, that
- 45:30Speaker 5: you kind of put the spotlight on? Who shined for you?
- 45:33Speaker 5: Who flashed is the words I used. He talked about
- 45:35Speaker 5: Ladarian Clardy, Dorian Varney, some younger players.
- 45:39Speaker 2: Didn't play Antonio Kite. Did not play Jay Crawford very much.
- 45:42Speaker 5: And I think there's some gamesmanship, load management versus injury
- 45:46Speaker 5: because Lane– Lane. He was very adamant that I've done
- 45:52Speaker 5: that a lot this week because he's played– it's been
- 45:54Speaker 5: six years.
- 45:55Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 45:56Speaker 5: But, you know, talking about the defensive backfield and talking
- 46:00Speaker 5: about load management and gamesmanship, I think they're gearing up
- 46:03Speaker 5: for this one.
- 46:04Speaker 2: I mean, everybody's kind of gearing up.
- 46:05Speaker 5: He didn't say it, he being Pete Golding, but obviously
- 46:08Speaker 5: this team was kind of gearing up for this game.
- 46:10Speaker 5: I think they were very vanilla, Jake, in the game
- 46:13Speaker 5: against Louisville, and they were forced to open it up
- 46:15Speaker 5: in the second half. I think they felt like they
- 46:17Speaker 5: were going to be able to run the football a
- 46:18Speaker 5: lot better with Lacey. I think they thought JT Lindsey
- 46:21Speaker 5: and Makai Frazier would be a little bit better on
- 46:23Speaker 5: the ground than they were. And so they opened it up,
- 46:25Speaker 5: and we know then the Deuce Alexander show happened. And
- 46:29Speaker 5: so that's kind of what happened against Charlotte in the
- 46:31Speaker 5: second half. And the defense played better. They tackled better.
- 46:34Speaker 5: They didn't tackle very well against Louisville, as you saw.
- 46:37Speaker 5: Isaac Brown was pretty good, but they– The receivers were
- 46:41Speaker 5: wide open, and then when they got there, they missed
- 46:43Speaker 5: a lot of tackles.
- 46:44Speaker 2: So they have shored that up a little bit.
- 46:47Speaker 5: If you remember, though, Pete Golding at the end of
- 46:48Speaker 5: the game against Charlotte talked about, we're looking for five
- 46:51Speaker 5: guys in the backfield, defensive backfield.
- 46:53Speaker 2: Now, I do feel like they.
- 46:54Speaker 5: Probably practiced pretty good since then, but I sensed a
- 46:57Speaker 5: little bit of frustration with the defensive backfield, with Antonio Kai,
- 47:00Speaker 5: with Jalen Crawford, mainly with Jarniero Aguero, the transfer that
- 47:05Speaker 5: came in here. I think they're looking for bigger and
- 47:08Speaker 5: better things from him, and they haven't gotten that yet.
- 47:11Speaker 1: You know, I said, too, and I know everything's going
- 47:14Speaker 1: to be as it should be, spotlight Oxford game day,
- 47:16Speaker 1: the whole deal. I want to see what both Ole
- 47:19Speaker 1: Miss and LSU do next week because there's so much
- 47:22Speaker 1: energy that's going to be put on this week. And,
- 47:23Speaker 1: you know, regardless of what happens Saturday, turn the page
- 47:26Speaker 1: on Sunday. Ole Miss has got to get ready to
- 47:28Speaker 1: go to Florida next week. Now, Florida's coming off a
- 47:30Speaker 1: big ball game against Auburn. LSU's got to host Texas
- 47:32Speaker 1: A & M. You know, and I'm sure Pete Golding,
- 47:35Speaker 1: you know, the staffs and the teams, they'll treat it
- 47:38Speaker 1: just as business as usual. But for fans, you know,
- 47:40Speaker 1: like if you win the game You hadn't won it all.
- 47:42Speaker 1: If you lose it, you hadn't lost it all. I mean,
- 47:44Speaker 1: it's still the first game of a long season.
- 47:47Speaker 5: Yeah, I think LSU would be much more prone to
- 47:50Speaker 5: get over a loss or to back down off a
- 47:52Speaker 5: win much easier than Ole Miss. And I think that's
- 47:54Speaker 5: a very valid point, something we've kind of talked about.
- 47:57Speaker 5: I told Ben today on the show that I get
- 48:00Speaker 5: this week, it's big. To me, the season hinges.
- 48:04Speaker 2: On the Florida game.
- 48:05Speaker 5: Either how Ole Miss responds after the loss to LSU
- 48:08Speaker 5: or– how much they can respond after coming off the
- 48:12Speaker 5: high of beating LSU. Because I think if they go 3-1,
- 48:15Speaker 5: then you have to kind of look at the games
- 48:17Speaker 5: down the stretch against Texas. You look at Oklahoma. You
- 48:21Speaker 5: look at Georgia, Mississippi State, Auburn. There's some big games
- 48:26Speaker 5: down the stretch. Lose the game, and all of a
- 48:29Speaker 5: sudden you have to do a heck of a job
- 48:31Speaker 5: to get this team and fan base off the ground
- 48:33Speaker 5: because it is going to be gut-wrenching to lose this
- 48:37Speaker 5: game if you're an Ole Miss fan.
- 48:39Speaker 2: And I can completely understand that. So they've got a
- 48:42Speaker 2: job to do one way or the other. I completely
- 48:44Speaker 2: agree with that.
- 48:45Speaker 5: So tell me what happens after the Florida game. I'll
- 48:49Speaker 5: tell you how the season goes. Because if you lose LSU,
- 48:52Speaker 5: the season is absolutely not over.
- 48:54Speaker 1: Correct.
- 48:55Speaker 5: It just kind of puts you against the wall to
- 48:57Speaker 5: where you've got maybe one more slip-up if you're going
- 49:00Speaker 5: to make the college football playoff.
- 49:01Speaker 2: Win that game. Then you go on the road and
- 49:03Speaker 2: beat Florida.
- 49:06Speaker 5: Then you can drop that Oklahoma game, that Georgia game,
- 49:09Speaker 5: that Texas game on the road. Right now, you have
- 49:12Speaker 5: to win this game to have that 10-win season, in
- 49:15Speaker 5: my opinion. I think if Ole Miss gets to 10-2,
- 49:18Speaker 5: it has to increase.
- 49:20Speaker 2: A win over LSU.
- 49:21Speaker 5: I just think that has to happen. If they lose
- 49:24Speaker 5: to LSU, I don't know how they get to 10 wins.
- 49:27Speaker 1: Ole Miss wins if they do what Saturday?
- 49:31Speaker 5: Oh, they have to be able to defend. I've kind
- 49:33Speaker 5: of already said it. They have to keep Sam Leavitt
- 49:36Speaker 5: in the pocket, and they have to force turnovers. Ole
- 49:39Speaker 5: Miss has not proven they can stop anybody passing the football.
- 49:42Speaker 2: Let's be honest.
- 49:43Speaker 5: So does that mean that Louisville and Kleinholz was really good?
- 49:48Speaker 2: Probably.
- 49:49Speaker 5: I think Louisville's a good football team. I think Louisville
- 49:51Speaker 5: would beat a lot of SEC teams. Charlotte's not very good,
- 49:55Speaker 5: and Charlotte was able to exploit Ole Miss's secondary, mainly
- 49:58Speaker 5: in the second half, but they were able to get
- 50:00Speaker 5: some things going down the field. If LSU can do
- 50:03Speaker 5: what I think they can do, they can score a
- 50:05Speaker 5: lot of points by exploiting Ole Miss's secondaries. But once again,
- 50:08Speaker 5: we have not seen Sharif Denson play yet. Antonio Kite
- 50:12Speaker 5: has been injured. Jay Crawford, Janelo Aguero. Those guys have
- 50:16Speaker 5: to play better. They have to play better in the secondary.
- 50:18Speaker 5: So Ole Miss has to show up at secondary. But
- 50:20Speaker 5: I think if Ole Miss wins the game, they force
- 50:23Speaker 5: at least one interception from Leavitt. They are able to
- 50:26Speaker 5: utilize the offensive line. They've struggled a little bit at
- 50:30Speaker 5: right tackle and at left tackle. So they have to
- 50:33Speaker 5: improve there running the football, opening some lanes for Lacey
- 50:35Speaker 5: because LSU's defense is really good. I think LSU's running
- 50:38Speaker 5: defense is going to get better and better each year.
- 50:41Speaker 5: This year they're good, and I think they've got to
- 50:43Speaker 5: be able to get Lacey loose. You know, we haven't
- 50:45Speaker 5: seen Lacey get loose a ton, so I'll get loose
- 50:48Speaker 5: a little bit against Louisville and a little bit against Charlotte.
- 50:51Speaker 5: So they've got to get him loose because if you
- 50:53Speaker 5: get Lacey loose, that opens up that passing game. And
- 50:55Speaker 5: then they can use players like Caleb Odom, the wide receiver,
- 50:58Speaker 5: to sit down in the middle. Caleb Cunningham had a
- 51:00Speaker 5: big night the other night.
- 51:02Speaker 2: He got a lot of reception.
- 51:03Speaker 5: So seeing some of the younger players kind of come along,
- 51:06Speaker 5: We'll see what happens on Saturday. There's going to be
- 51:08Speaker 5: some big-time winners for LSU and for Ole Miss. What
- 51:12Speaker 5: players step up and become those big winners, we'll see
- 51:15Speaker 5: on Saturday.
- 51:16Speaker 1: Hey, before we cut you loose, just your thoughts. You know,
- 51:19Speaker 1: just 10,000-foot flyover in the SEC so far through two weeks.
- 51:22Speaker 1: I thought John Mateer looked like a paper tiger against
- 51:25Speaker 1: Michigan on Saturday. That doesn't mean the rest of his
- 51:28Speaker 1: year will look like that. You know, Missouri looks like
- 51:31Speaker 1: they're off to a pretty good start with Austin Simmons.
- 51:33Speaker 1: Arkansas looked lethargic against Michigan. I watched about a half
- 51:37Speaker 1: of that the other night. You may have seen that.
- 51:39Speaker 1: Texas with a big comeback win. Just kind of some
- 51:41Speaker 1: of the thoughts, you know, through two weeks in the SEC.
- 51:44Speaker 2: Yeah, Kamaru Taylor.
- 51:46Speaker 5: I mean, I think he's the bell of the ball
- 51:47Speaker 5: right now for Mississippi State because, you know, we knew
- 51:50Speaker 5: Jeff is a good offensive coach. We just– we needed
- 51:53Speaker 5: to see it from a totality standpoint. Robbie talked about it.
- 51:56Speaker 5: Zach Arnett coming back, huge, huge component. I didn't realize
- 51:59Speaker 5: just how bad Coleman Hutzler was. Zachary, that's a great D.C.
- 52:03Speaker 5: So I think State's on the up and up.
- 52:04Speaker 2: Missouri looked good. You're right.
- 52:06Speaker 5: We'll see on the competition piece where they're at. South
- 52:08Speaker 5: Carolina versus State this weekend. Huge matchup that nobody's talking about.
- 52:12Speaker 5: Lenore Sellers versus Kamario Taylor.
- 52:14Speaker 2: Georgia's there. Texas is there.
- 52:16Speaker 5: Alabama and Keelan Russell turned it on in the second half.
- 52:20Speaker 5: I thought it was interesting, you know, Alex Golish versus
- 52:23Speaker 5: John Summerall. Someone asked Alex Golish today that John Summerall
- 52:26Speaker 5: said that he and Alex Golish were friends.
- 52:27Speaker 2: It's like, yeah, whatever. Whatever.
- 52:29Speaker 5: We're not friends on Saturday. He never smiled or anything,
- 52:32Speaker 5: so that's okay. I like the intensity, but he better
- 52:34Speaker 5: back it up. So, Florida, I'm fascinated by that game.
- 52:38Speaker 5: I'm also fascinated with Vanderbilt. What does Clark Lee do
- 52:42Speaker 5: with his quarterback? I mean, we've seen this talented Jared Curtis,
- 52:46Speaker 5: five-star dude come in, Blaise Burowitz.
- 52:49Speaker 1: It's kind of they're going fighting back and forth.
- 52:51Speaker 2: Where does that team go? Arkansas, Arkansas is rough right now.
- 52:56Speaker 5: They are ready for Hunter Hurichek to hit the road,
- 52:58Speaker 5: the athletic director, and they are not happy on the
- 53:01Speaker 5: hill right now in Fayetteville. And then you kind of
- 53:04Speaker 5: look at everybody else, and LSU at Ole Miss is
- 53:08Speaker 5: on Saturday. It's crazy right now. With Oklahoma kind of,
- 53:11Speaker 5: like you said, laying an egg, the SEC is unbelievable.
- 53:14Speaker 5: I mean, it's so much fun each and every week.
- 53:17Speaker 5: You know, Will Stein talking about how, you know, coming
- 53:20Speaker 5: out and talking real big, and then Alabama kind of
- 53:22Speaker 5: wiped the field with him. they've got to get back
- 53:24Speaker 5: off the dirt too because they've got a couple of
- 53:26Speaker 5: big games upcoming so the sec man such a gauntlet
- 53:29Speaker 5: each and every week.
- 53:30Speaker 1: It is brad tell everybody uh i know you guys
- 53:32Speaker 1: have a big audience but if there may be some
- 53:34Speaker 1: people out there that want to want to get in
- 53:35Speaker 1: with you guys where you and ben are at what
- 53:37Speaker 1: you guys y'all are going to have a busy fun

- 55:07Speaker 1: There we go. We'll just go with that.
- 55:09Speaker 2: How about that?
- 55:09Speaker 1: Let's see. Did we have some chat notes? I think so.
- 55:12Speaker 1: There was MSU Ace talking when Robbie was on set
- 55:15Speaker 1: at the end of the first quarter, beginning of the
- 55:16Speaker 1: second quarter. The defensive line, he said, we've gone up against,
- 55:20Speaker 1: have been standing straight up with no push. Let's see.
- 55:23Speaker 1: Cameron says, I like not being ranked and being the underdog.
- 55:27Speaker 1: And MSU Pace says, the pace of our offense hasn't
- 55:32Speaker 1: been spoken about enough. It's a game changer with a
- 55:34Speaker 1: QB that can deliver the football. And Cynthia says, thank you, Robbie.
- 55:38Speaker 1: So there's some comments there as well. Yeah, the pace
- 55:40Speaker 1: that Mississippi State has played with is very tough to defend.
- 55:44Speaker 1: They've got a big challenge. We'll talk more about that
- 55:46Speaker 1: on Wednesday. We'll talk more about that Ole Miss game
- 55:49Speaker 1: as well. We'll have Joseph Lissy in with us, Rafael Esparza.
