- 0:01Speaker 1: Jerry, Katy, and Josh one hundred PPS Denver Public Schools
- 0:06Speaker 1: biggest school district in the state. Going back to class today.
- 0:10Speaker 1: So welcome back to all the kidd oh's hanging out
- 0:12Speaker 1: in the carpool lanes and the bus stops today. I
- 0:15Speaker 1: have a great school year. I was just reading a
- 0:17Speaker 1: story about how DPS provides or makes one hundred thousand
- 0:22Speaker 1: meals each and every day. Wow, it's like the biggest
- 0:24Speaker 1: restaurant in the state. Basically, can you imagine shout out
- 0:29Speaker 1: to the lunch ladies for lunch, you know, making all
- 0:32Speaker 1: those pigs in a blanket today one hundred thousand meals
- 0:35Speaker 1: each and every day. Favor yea, yeah, So shout out
- 0:40Speaker 1: to DPS kids going back. Had a pretty eventful weekend.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I know, we want to get into what Katie did
- 0:46Speaker 1: in a little bit, because she went out and ate
- 0:48Speaker 1: a bunch of peaches this weekend. I left the show
- 0:53Speaker 1: on Friday. When did we get out of here, guys,
- 0:56Speaker 1: I don't know. Eleven Yeah, zip right on out of here.
- 1:00Speaker 1: And there's a car dealership I like going to on
- 1:03Speaker 1: my way home from time to time, and I swung
- 1:06Speaker 1: in just for the heck of it. Just to kind
- 1:08Speaker 1: of poke around because I had been toying with getting
- 1:11Speaker 1: rid of my little Barbie truck that I got one
- 1:13Speaker 1: year ago that I absolutely hate, hated hated it, mostly
- 1:17Speaker 1: because my head kept hitting this ceiling. I couldn't wear
- 1:20Speaker 1: a ball cap in this little Barbie truck because my
- 1:22Speaker 1: head just don't thunk thunk.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Colorado roads, they're so bumpy.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Oh god, I was just so sick of this.
- 1:28Speaker 3: We didn't help either, Honestly.
- 1:33Speaker 1: I rolled into this dealership and about two hours later,
- 1:36Speaker 1: I rolled out with a new car. I'm like, I
- 1:39Speaker 1: was telling the sweet little sales lady that was helping me.
- 1:42Speaker 1: I was like, I was not expecting to do this
- 1:45Speaker 1: today at all.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Here we are.
- 1:47Speaker 1: But I went in there and they had basically what
- 1:50Speaker 1: I had been looking for, and they met me in
- 1:54Speaker 1: all the right places when it came to cost and everything,
- 1:57Speaker 1: and I was like.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Well, why the hell not. I'm so happy for you,
- 2:01Speaker 2: Thank you, fin Cruiser. That's so exciting.
- 2:05Speaker 4: You know.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Year I'd been looking for the ones with the flames
- 2:10Speaker 1: on the side.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Yes, it was there.
- 2:13Speaker 1: It was there, Uh so yeah, And I was I
- 2:16Speaker 1: was talking to her about that, and she's like, you
- 2:19Speaker 1: have no idea how many people come in and they're
- 2:22Speaker 1: just browsing, wandering around, killing time before a meeting. She's like,
- 2:27Speaker 1: and then two hours later they walk out with a car.
- 2:29Speaker 1: She's like, it happened so often. I was like, I
- 2:32Speaker 1: had no idea, but no, I just added to that stat.
- 2:35Speaker 1: But yeah, I'm back. I'm back in a bigger truck now.
- 2:37Speaker 4: For you, life is good also when you're like, you know,
- 2:40Speaker 4: find something you like, you want to, you know, jump
- 2:44Speaker 4: on it.
- 2:44Speaker 1: That's the thing. Like she pulled it around and because
- 2:48Speaker 1: I saw it on their website while I was there,
- 2:50Speaker 1: because it wasn't on the lot, and I was like, oh,
- 2:51Speaker 1: where's this one. She's like, oh, let me go grab it.
- 2:53Speaker 1: I'll pull it around. And as soon as she did,
- 2:55Speaker 1: I was more or less angel crat. I guess I'm
- 2:58Speaker 1: doing this today. So pretty excited about that. And then
- 3:02Speaker 1: on Saturday we had our first experience with cross country.
- 3:09Speaker 1: So my son has ended his basketball career and now
- 3:12Speaker 1: he's hot and heavy into cross country here in high school.
- 3:16Speaker 1: And it was our first ever. I don't know what
- 3:18Speaker 1: they ever called meat. I guess they all meet and Josh,
- 3:25Speaker 1: I don't know if you've ever been to a cross
- 3:27Speaker 1: country event like high school and wildly different than sitting
- 3:31Speaker 1: on the bleachers watching your kid play basketball like that.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Nothing like it at all. You stand around all morning
- 3:39Speaker 1: bs with other parents. You're out in the heat, and
- 3:42Speaker 1: here's the thing, Like they map out the course, okay,
- 3:44Speaker 1: where the kids are supposed to run. This one was
- 3:46Speaker 1: just a quick two mile run. So we went and
- 3:49Speaker 1: walked it first of all, so we knew where they
- 3:52Speaker 1: were going to be running. And then when they start
- 3:54Speaker 1: the race, you're standing there at the starting line and pow,
- 3:57Speaker 1: they fire the gun and they all take off. Then
- 4:00Speaker 1: the parents all run them to the other side to
- 4:03Speaker 1: watch them run past them, and then they all run
- 4:06Speaker 1: to another portion and watch the kids past them, and
- 4:09Speaker 1: then they run to the finish line to watch the
- 4:11Speaker 1: kids come to the finish line.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Get your steps in the entire.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Damn time, there's parents running everywhere.
- 4:17Speaker 2: It's it's a spectacle, man, That's that's all you can
- 4:20Speaker 2: explain it as it's a total spectacle.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Dude. We had no idea. I was like, I brought
- 4:25Speaker 1: my folding chair. I was like, well, I guess I'm
- 4:27Speaker 1: just going to sit here and watch it, maybe in
- 4:30Speaker 1: a track.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Or bring your hookahs. Bring running shoes, dude.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Like, luckily I had some running shoes on, but Nick
- 4:36Speaker 1: Knack and my daughter didn't like bad day to wear
- 4:39Speaker 1: flip flops. And yeah, so the entire time we're running
- 4:43Speaker 1: all over the place.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Yeah, and well and how early was your morning? Right,
- 4:46Speaker 2: it's like a five am call?
- 4:47Speaker 1: Oh yeah, like we were up at five. We had
- 4:49Speaker 1: to be at the track at like I remember what
- 4:50Speaker 1: it was six thirty early mornings, dude. So you drive,
- 4:53Speaker 1: I will say it's beautiful because it's nice and cool.
- 4:56Speaker 1: You get the sunrise. The location we were up at
- 5:00Speaker 1: thunder Ridge High School. Beautiful location. Yeah, that's that high
- 5:04Speaker 1: School's got a view. Man. But I didn't know that
- 5:07Speaker 1: I needed to eat my protein and have a shake
- 5:10Speaker 1: because I was gonna be running roughly two miles.
- 5:12Speaker 2: You're cramping all yeah.
- 5:13Speaker 1: And then it's like I felt bad for the parents that, like,
- 5:16Speaker 1: you know, I don't want to be mean, but they
- 5:19Speaker 1: haven't run. They probably haven't run in a long time.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Well, those are the finish line parents.
- 5:24Speaker 1: I was watching a few of them, like are you laughing?
- 5:31Speaker 1: The parents like running up and back and forth, and
- 5:33Speaker 1: there come on Jerry and the one guy's like, welcome
- 5:37Speaker 1: to cross.
- 5:40Speaker 4: But you're right, they have to be the smart parents
- 5:42Speaker 4: who just set up shop at the finish line.
- 5:44Speaker 1: You can tell you and they're out there with their
- 5:50Speaker 1: like little golf cart. But it was a blast. I
- 5:54Speaker 1: will say I am a newbie to the world of
- 5:56Speaker 1: cross country, but I absolutely love it. I've never seen
- 5:59Speaker 1: a more close knit group of boys and parents already,
- 6:04Speaker 1: and they say that about cross country and runners in general.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Track all of them. It becomes an incredibly close community.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Yeah, because who runs for fun?
- 6:11Speaker 1: I know, And I think it's because we all stand
- 6:14Speaker 1: around so much that you just start talking to everybody
- 6:16Speaker 1: and you become best friends forever. So if you got
- 6:19Speaker 1: a kiddo exploring some high school sports, highly recommend cross
- 6:24Speaker 1: country and by yourself some new nikes because you're going
- 6:27Speaker 1: to be running two all right. Some more fun and games.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Right around nine o'clock today when we played Katie Crash.
- 6:34Speaker 1: It's our fun pop culture trivia game. We got up
- 6:38Speaker 1: for grabs with.
- 6:39Speaker 3: That house tickets.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Oh yeah, snack pass passes all right. Actually set those
- 6:46Speaker 1: reminders on your smart speakers and your phones to calling
- 6:49Speaker 1: at nine o'clock today, play Katie Crush. We've had a
- 6:52Speaker 1: funny little conversation side conversation going on here in the
- 6:55Speaker 1: studios about Jake Jabs.
- 7:02Speaker 3: That's pretty great, right.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Well, we're all wondering if he actually owns these animals,
- 7:06Speaker 1: the tigers and stuff he's at on the TV commercials
- 7:09Speaker 1: over the years.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I think you can own adult tigers. You
- 7:12Speaker 2: can own the little ones.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Breaking jazz and it was a different time back in
- 7:17Speaker 4: the nineties. But doesn't need to Well, I know, but
- 7:20Speaker 4: like back then when he made them famous, I don't
- 7:24Speaker 4: know if it was as frowned upon to have big
- 7:27Speaker 4: tigers in your household.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Is it frowned upon now?
- 7:30Speaker 2: Well, I think it's awesome.
- 7:32Speaker 3: So I was out in h on the Western Slope.
- 7:35Speaker 4: I was out at the peach Fest this weekend, and
- 7:38Speaker 4: Jake Jabs is a huge sponsor of the peach Fest.
- 7:41Speaker 4: He has been for years. American Furniture warehouse out there.
- 7:44Speaker 4: But somebody I was talking to somebody who's not from
- 7:47Speaker 4: the area, and we got off on the conversation about
- 7:50Speaker 4: how when if you grew up in Colorado as a kid,
- 7:53Speaker 4: you wanted one of those big stuff tigers that they got.
- 7:57Speaker 4: If your parents bought a couch from American Furniture right
- 8:00Speaker 4: if you rolled in there with your parents.
- 8:02Speaker 1: They still do it.
- 8:03Speaker 2: I wanted the white tiger though they've got a whole
- 8:06Speaker 2: of white tigers.
- 8:07Speaker 4: They do, and they're like massive. And as a child,
- 8:10Speaker 4: I know the baby not all she ever wanted, like
- 8:12Speaker 4: she can you go buy a couch from that place
- 8:14Speaker 4: so I can have the stuff tiger. And so we
- 8:17Speaker 4: were discussing this with some people in the car who
- 8:20Speaker 4: weren't familiar with it, and they were so taken aback
- 8:22Speaker 4: by the fact that a furniture guy had real tigers.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Made you want to buy the furn It still does.
- 8:28Speaker 1: And then every time I'm in an Americans, they were.
- 8:31Speaker 4: So offended by the fact that he used real tigers
- 8:34Speaker 4: to market his brand. And I was just like, and
- 8:38Speaker 4: then I can't tell you how many times I said
- 8:40Speaker 4: this past weekend, it was a different time, Like I
- 8:44Speaker 4: said that so often.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Yeah, but why what's their beat? Those are probably the
- 8:48Speaker 1: best well cared for tigers ever I know.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Well, And at one point the person got a little
- 8:54Speaker 4: like they were like, you know those tigers that they
- 8:56Speaker 4: were medicated, and I'm like, I don't know.
- 9:02Speaker 1: So the Google box says that no, Jake Jabs did
- 9:06Speaker 1: not personally own the tigers. The big cats used by
- 9:09Speaker 1: the founder belonged to professional exotic animal trainers and handlers
- 9:15Speaker 1: who brought them in for his famous nineteen nineties television commercials. Yes,
- 9:19Speaker 1: so they air store appearances.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Yeah, they just.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Made it seem like they were his.
- 9:23Speaker 2: I mean, they were just well trained, they were very trucked.
- 9:26Speaker 3: He walked around like he owned tigers.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Like that's the vibe that Jake jab has given since
- 9:32Speaker 4: the beginning of time. Like, so, I just like, I
- 9:35Speaker 4: can see why people would think he owns them, But yeah,
- 9:39Speaker 4: he just uses them for marketing.
- 9:41Speaker 1: It's aye. An animal park owner pitched using big cats
- 9:47Speaker 1: in his TV ads, and after seeing how much his
- 9:50Speaker 1: staff loved a visiting baby tiger cub, Jabs used them
- 9:55Speaker 1: to make his spots unforgettable and they're iconic now about
- 10:00Speaker 1: him still, Oh my god.
- 10:01Speaker 3: You think of Jake Jabs, you think of tigers.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Yes, you know, your friends are dumb.
- 10:08Speaker 3: They were just concerned, that's it.
- 10:11Speaker 1: They were just a dumb friends.
- 10:14Speaker 3: No, No, if they.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Were not familiar with it, they had no idea, but
- 10:18Speaker 4: they immediately.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Went to like the most horrible things. Well, because that's.
- 10:23Speaker 2: What people do now, that is what gen z ers do.
- 10:25Speaker 4: They do They get offended, like they're probably offended.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Guys just called him dumb'll be dumb people.
- 10:32Speaker 2: People actually get offended, like they're really dumb.
- 10:36Speaker 1: That's really dumb. I know, I know, I know,
